I first heard about First American several years ago. My experience with them has been excellent. I had no problems submitting a claim. I received good response plus the claims representative I spoke to was very nice. So far I have everything worked right. They've been very good. Fortunately, I haven't had too many experiences using them--and I don't plan on it.
Thank you for your loyal business, Joan.

It's been excellent so far and I've had no problems with it. We've had First American Home Buyers Protection for a while now. We chose them because they have good coverage and they covered more. Their representatives do everything like they're supposed to and they give me a call back... they're concerned with the problem. The people they sent out were also very concerned and told me other things that need to be done... And they call in, get the okay from me and take care of it right then and there. They really get things done immediately.
Thank you for your continued business, Clem.

I currently have a home warranty through First American Home Buyers and I did attempt to use it last January 2014. I want to cancel my warranty with them but have hung onto it, just in case, although they completely failed me when I did need them. My garage door opener malfunctioned, causing the whole door to get stuck halfway up. I contacted this company and was told they do not have a service person in my area and was told that I needed to find someone and was given a long list of what would qualify this person under my warranty. Needless to say, with my home freezing from the north wind blowing under the garage door, not to mention a half open garage door that just invites a burglar, I found someone and just paid for it out of pocket as I needed the door fixed pronto and I couldn't take time away from work to search for a repairman that fit the warranty company's specific specifications. Today I just balanced my checkbook and noticed the monthly fee taken out by the warranty company and am frustrated with myself for not terminating services with this company as soon as they failed me, and I believe that this company is not worth the $49.00 taken out every month, so I will be correcting my oversight shortly by taking my business elsewhere.

I hardly ever write reviews but I feel that it is necessary to disclose how completely FRUSTRATED and DISAPPOINTED I am with First American Home Warranty. Our oven stopped working shortly after we bought our house, the electrical panel was not turning on. After sending out a vendor to our home, we were told that panel has to get sent out to be rebuilt. After receiving notices that the claim might be delayed for 30 days, we patiently waited. We love to cook and bake in our family so not having an oven was a big deal.
Fast forward to 10 weeks later, the part was still not fixed and vendor cannot provide an ETA on the part. After numerous calls and follow ups, I was told it would be resolved by a certain date. That date has come and gone, the oven part was not fixed and again, no ETA can be provided. Another 2 weeks later, I was advised that the oven part could not be rebuilt and they will replace my oven. Great news, I thought. WRONG! Home warranty offered a comparable oven with same specs except that the dimensions was off. The new oven was too deep to fit in the current location, it is built-in a cabinet space.
After speaking to the supplier of the oven, they alerted home warranty of that fact. Home warranty said that we did not supply the model or serial number of the oven and they requested measurements and pictures. They did not EVER ask us for that information. Regardless of that fact, when I spoke to home warranty, they said that they do not match dimensions anyway, they just match the specs and functionality. Which translates to giving you the cheapest oven on the market. Which would not be a big deal if the oven FITS in the actual spot.
So my options are to take the oven, upgrade it with supplier or take the cash out. NONE of these options work for me since A) the oven doesn't fit, we will have to break down our cabinets and wall to make it fit which will be an additional cost, B) upgrading it to one that fits will be an additional cost and C) taking the cash out to buy our oven will be an additional cost because the amount they gave us does not even cover the oven they offered us at retail. So either way, we are out of pocket for at least a few hundred dollars.
I am not sure how First American runs their business but it is just not ACCEPTABLE especially when the supplier have the same brand of oven that we currently have but won't offer to us. We have missed cooking and baking for my son's first birthday, we have missed Thanksgiving and now it looks like we may miss Christmas. You would think after making us wait 3 months to fix our oven, they would be a little lenient in giving us an oven that actually fits in our current space. That would be the most simple thing to do. Instead now, they save money, we have to pay either to fix our cabinets or pay for an upgrade.
Now we are at 14 weeks and this claim has not been resolved and the only way to resolve it is for us to come out of pocket. We do not have that kind of money to just throw around since we are new homeowners and this was not an expense we had anticipated. No one would find this acceptable, no one. After speaking to the claim management specialist and his supervisor, it seems they don't really care or try to make an effort to rectify this situation after we have waited so patiently for them to make this repair. It is just a shame. This is just ridiculous for someone to go through just to get an appliance repaired or replaced.
Hi Kelly. Thank you for your feedback. Your claim has been resolved. Thank you. Natalie.

I've been paying $46/month for a home warranty for 2.5 years. Tues, 12/9: Washer broke, I submitted a claim. Wed, 12/10: I got a call asking if I wanted Sears out on Friday or Monday. I picked Monday 10-2. Mon, 12/15: Nobody came so I called and was told my appointment was Monday, 12/22. I explained it was booked for 12/15, and was told, "Sorry, 12/22 is the soonest available appointment." After saying this was unacceptable and asking what they could do, Mari told me she would submit a ticket to see if there was a cancellation to squeeze me in, and it would take 24-48 hours to get a reply. She also said I couldn't talk to a manager as they couldn't do anything for me, so I called 1st American and after being on hold for 20 min, I gave up and sent a message attached to the claim through the site. It took 24 hours for them to respond, including this tidbit: "Given the time of year, to re-dispatch this claim could cause further delays in having someone out to the home to diagnose what the failure is."
Really, it would take longer to get out here if they tried to help? I understand mistakes are made, but when they are, you might try and help the customer. I'd like to add that I reviewed the contract and there is no service-level agreement with regard to how long it can take for a contractor to come out or how long it can take for the repair to be made. If you read the other 1-star reviews on here, you can see some customers have been waiting for months and months and no progress is being made to fix the item - they just continue sending different contractors out to try and diagnose the issue, which per the contract, they can do forever while meeting their contractual requirements.
Hi Jennifer. We appreciate your feedback. We are glad to know your claim was resolved. Thank you, Stephanie.

Here’s what you can call. If they haven’t called you within 24 hours, give us a call.” I never had to do that because everyone that’s been out has been very trustworthy. I know that if something comes up that’s not under the warranty that I need, I will call them especially these last electricians that came out. They were great.

It was a very easy process submitting a claim. We’re very satisfied with First American and plan to carry on the policy throughout the year. They were extremely professional. One thing we really appreciated was constant feedback and information, which we usually don’t get (you have to pry people to get information on status, etc.) and they were forthcoming that way and very proactive, which we very much appreciated. So even though there were moments that might have been a little frustrating, the frustration was alleviated by this forthcoming information.

It's been very good. We've used them more than once and they've sent reliable people to fix the job the first time and I'm very happy with it. I've only ever had one problem and that was with the plumber they provided. He did not know what he was doing. He did not come prepared with any tools and he never did fix the problem. So when we were having some plumbing issues (I tried doing my drain with the heavy duty liquid plumber stuff) and when I talked to them about my last claim about the refrigerator I asked who they have for a plumber because I definitely didn't want him back in my house again because he didn't know what he was doing and they said, "Well, if you don't like who we send to you, if you have a problem, we'll just send somebody else." And I don't think they do so that wouldn't have been an issue.
Thanks, Susan.

We heard about First American from our realtor. Submitting a claim to them has been excellent. The first time we had to deal with their claims rep was not good but the second and third time were good. The first time I would have probably cancelled but the second and third were excellent. They probably got it because I complained so much. It was really bad but it's good now. First American and the people they use are quick - that's why I like them. Within 10 minutes, I get a call back. My phone will ring before I even get it shut down. They usually tell you between four and five people will call and I've only had two people call but as quick as they are, that's what I want because they're going to be prompt since they're prompt calling me. The turnaround is phenomenal.

Our entire plumbing in our home become clogged on a Saturday. I spent hours on the phone calling First American Home Buyers Protection, only to be put on hold for 15-30 minutes at a time. After hours of not getting anywhere I called back, was told they weren't able to provide a plumber. I was told they would give me the opportunity to find a plumber myself and they would then cover cost. Well here it is two days later while still having no water (and elderly, children and disabled), I've been on the phone mind you having to either be placed on hold for 20-30 minutes at a time, hung up on, etc. And am still on the phone 3 way mind you with the plumber and First American now for 35 minutes just trying to get First American to give authorization. I've paid this company (First American) $960.00 a year to be treated this way. Unbelievable!!!! Now I'm told they're not going to cover my plumbing!!

If I could give this company ZERO star I would. It has been 3 weeks that they said they will come and fix my washer, in Florida. I own a condo in Florida and live in New York, but the condo is rented. The tenant has been out of a washer for THREE weeks now. As I have read other bad reviews about them, YES it is true you have to wait 20 minutes or longer for someone from the claims resolution to answer the phone. It is disgusting.
I started to take names, who I speak with and what department they are in. And I also asked for the OWNER or CEO of the company. I told everyone that I spoke with that he needs to know what kind of company he is running by hiring incompetent idiots! I advise you who have problem, to ask for the name of the owner and address and send him a complaint. REMEMBER, THE PEN IS MIGHTIER THAN THE SWORD! Over two months since writing the review, I can say the issue is finally resolved. It was not without serious pain. In short, after writing this review:
2) New equipment was ordered - which had the wrong dimensions to fit physically
3) The one-man band contractor went AWOL.
4) New one-man band contractor assigned
5) New heat pump system ordered - a correct match finally.
6) One-man band contractor took 4 days to complete about 25% of the work, worked in a dangerous manner, and sprayed the side of my house with refrigerant oil by disconnecting pressurized pipes incorrectly.
7) I refused to let one-man band return and also refused to pay anything out of pocket.
8) First American finally assigned a half-way decent contractor in their network - one that actually has an office, multiple employees, a scheduler, official company trucks, etc.
9) The new contractor had to send a team of 2 guys that worked 12 hours to correct previous mistakes and get the new system running.
In the end, I do finally have a working heat pump system, installed by a quality contractor. The effort required to get to this point was much too great, and I was only able to do it because I have a flex schedule and can work from home. I also have a dual-fuel system, so I was able to run on cheap natural gas furnace this entire time instead of electric backup heat. Somebody with a rigid schedule would have been screwed and would have had to accept a lesser repair and moved on or took the ridiculously low cash-out.
No coincidence, I just got a letter from First American informing me they will not be offering a renewal on my one-year contract (paid for by seller of home). I could see that one coming from a mile away. Ha!
Original Review: Dec. 5, 2014
On 10/17/2014, I opened a service request with First American regarding the heat pump system failing to operate. The contractor that First American assigned attempted repair unsuccessfully. The contractor condemned the heat pump condenser (aka outdoor unit). First American approved replacing compressor part inside the old condenser, even though that was against the contractor's professional opinion of replacing entire condenser. I escalated and First American agreed to replace the entire outdoor condenser with a R22 Model, to avoid having to change from R22 refrigerant to R410.
I asked First American to replace the indoor evaporative coil as well, as this is a covered component in the contract and the contract states when First American is replacing the condenser of Heat Pump split system, the Company will replace covered components as necessary to maintain compatibility and operating efficiency as required by the manufacturer of the replacement unit. The contract also states that when First American is replacing the unit, they will replace the unit with one that meets current federal efficiency standards. The current federal efficiency standard is 13 SEER/7.7 HSPF for Heat Pumps. The original indoor evaporative coil is approximately 25 years old and was rated for 9 SEER with the old condenser. It is impossible for a new 13 SEER condenser to operate at 13 SEER when it is paired with an old indoor evaporative coil, hence it needs to be replaced per the contract.
First American agreed and ordered CX34-36C-6F Evaporative coil and 13HPX-036-230 Condenser from Lennox. The installation manual for the 13HPX says the indoor evaporator coil used with the system must be specified in the Lennox Engineering Handbook. The CX34-36C-6F does not appear in the handbook and is not properly matched. This risks premature system failure, breaches the contract we have in place, and voids warranty of equipment!
I have provided multiple copies of official Lennox documentation to First American and they continue to deny the obvious facts that are clearly stated in the documentation. They say they "checked with Lennox" and "confirmed it is compatible", but they have not sent me one single shred of documentation. I would gladly drop the matter and be a satisfied consumer once again if they simply sent me the official documentation that refutes and supersedes the official documentation I provided. Instead, they are giving me no choice but to go to the Attorney General in my state, the BBB, Consumeraffairs.com, and lastly resolution thru the legal system. I cannot let them install a system in my house that is meant to last 10+ years that is not properly matched by the manufacturer, does not have an efficiency rating that meets the federal minimum as the contract states, and could have premature compressor failure and no warranty coverage because it is not properly matched.

The first time I submitted a claim of something minor, that was taken care of though there was a little bit of a mix-up. They never sent me a bill and I got a letter saying they were going to drop me if I didn't pay the bill. So I paid the bill, it was $50 something. Then I called them recently and had to wait two weeks to have my stove repaired and that was a little inconvenient. The sales representative referred me to their outsourcing. They took all the information and the people that they had subcontracted out made me wait so long and I didn't like that. Other than that they did a great job and I'm very satisfied and would recommend them.
Thank you for recommending us, Domingo.

First American Home Warranty is a complete waste of time and money. We purchased the upgraded warranty when we purchased our new home because it had a septic tank and pool. Both of these items were "covered" under the warranty. We didn't have any issues in the first few months but then noticed a light on the Pool Pilot (the machine that controls the pump and cell for the pool). We called First American, and they sent out a contractor. The contractor determined that the fan failed which caused the main circuit board to overheat. It was determined that a new unit was cheaper then replacing all the electrical parts. First American originally stated they would fix the problem and placed an order for parts. They then denied the claim afterwards.
We contacted the company several times to get information and understand the issue. Each time, it took over 30 minutes to reach a person. When we did, they attempted to explain why it was not covered. The problem here is that our "policy does not cover a new unit." This is not stated in the contract. What is stated is that it will cover "above ground electrical" and "the circuit board." So, somehow the parts of the device are covered but the device itself is not covered. We've had American Home Shield for years and have never had this problem. When trying to cancel our policy, we cannot talk to a live person. We must submit an email, fax, or regular mail. We will never use First American again and will advise others not to use them as well.

When I purchased my house, First American was the warranty that was set up. I had never compared different home warranties, I just got a little inside on a homeowner I was buying a home from. He was telling me how First American worked for him over the years, that it was good and it was in my budget. When I had problems with anything in my home such as heating air, hot water tank plumbing or anything, they did exactly what they said they would do and I appreciate that. The claims representative was outstanding. Everyone I ever spoke with were very concerned and generous. They assured me that whoever they were sending out, whatever contractor that was coming out, they always sent me an email with all the information. They were always nice and they make me feel free to call them back if I had any questions.
I've had them for almost 8 years and they were great. They deal with whatever they had to do in a contract with all those listed. They are great contractors because they come right out and take care of business so I never have to wait for them. It's always cold outside of my heat and I never had to be cold and whenever it's hot in the air I would never have the wet sole or be without hot water. I have recommended them to several people. They are dedicated to their customers and I appreciate them.

We called First American Home Buyers Protection to repair a leaking valve on the water heater, and because there was no hot water in any of our fixtures. The plumber came out and told us that the pipes needed to be replaced (not covered), and that he would adjust the hot water heater's heat setting. He told us that it would make the dripping stop from the hot water heater. It did not stop. Instead, it started to gush water out and flooded our basement. The plumber came out on a Friday, and the flood happened on a Sunday. I called over 12 times, and left half as many messages with the promise that someone would call me back. I had to shut off the water main to our house. With three small children, not having water is out of the question. My choice was to not have water, or to go to Lowe's and buy a new hot water heater. I chose the latter.
The contract clearly states that they will reimburse for expenses outside normal hours if it is an emergency, but still they refuse to pay for the repairs. This is a horrible company. Save your money, and just put in a savings account. Read the other reviews online. They usually find some reason to deny a claim, or simply refuse to pay out on legitimate claims. The last time I spoke to customer service, the boy on the other end laughed about our basement flooding. Terrible company. We also were not the owners of the home at the time of service (we were prospective buyers awaiting closing). I paid the bill to avoid collections, but would not recommend them to anyone, for any reason.

We called FAHW for repair on our furnace. The repairman that came said he could not do the work because a previous repair was improper. When FAHW was called, we were informed that due to an "improper installation" of a relay switch, our warranty did not cover the repair. This was a repair that apparently had occurred before we purchased the home and we're not aware of existing...however, this did not matter to FAHW. The warranty FAHW is selling is very misleading. We purchased our warranty because we have an older home and wanted "a little peace of mind"...this is NOT the case. Our claim was rejected and we were told we were "on our own" when it came to the repair and they are not responsible for previous work done on any "covered" systems. We are in the process of canceling the warranty because in our opinion FAHW will not be covering any repairs we might need to make to an older home because of "pre-existing conditions". We would also caution any potential customers to research the "fine print" on what the warranty will and will NOT cover.

I bought this home warranty as recommended by my realtor. We did the walk through with a licensed technician before we bought our house. All of the electrical was fine including ALL wall outlets except for a fan in the bedroom. It worked but the light and fan came on separately. It was recommended that the seller get a licensed electrician to fix the fan. They did. Second walk through of the house showed fan was fixed. We bought the house and moved in. After a month of moving in, we noticed some wall outlets in bedroom did not work. Called insurance co and made claim. They sent a guy out and said whoever fixed the fan messed up the outlets. Insurance rejected claim and said "call the sellers and have them fix it!" Really?? They moved across state, I certainly don't have their phone number or address, and it was hard enough as it was to get them to make our initial requested repairs done. They will NOT fix this.
Isn't this what insurance insurance is for? I produced the documentation showing that when we did our walk through, the plugs were ALL working. This is what insurance is for. Once you move in, if something goes bad...insurance fixes it! IT was working before and it's not now! They refused. They sent out a second guy (on my expense) for a second opinion who agreed with the first guy. There's a problem with the fan affecting your plugs. They refused my claim. I can't imagine if I had a bigger problem besides a wall outlet plug! Heaven forbid. They will talk their way out of ANYTHING. And I'm stuck with the bills for the service guys coming out. It's easier for me to just hire a handy man and fix it for a hundred bucks. That is still cheaper than the service charges THEY have sent me!

When you’re a renter, you don’t care about this stuff, you call the landlord. I had a problem with the water heater and First American handled it. I got a new water heater and that turned out great. Next one was the garbage disposal. It broke down but started working again. The fella came anyway and it was worth it. He gave me a few hints on how to unplug and checked to make sure it was good. But I had a problem with the phone. The person that came to fix it said the wires were cut underneath. They were not. It was a waste. Then I had leaks on my roof and they patched those up. I should have had the whole thing resurfaced or what they do on mobile homes but that’s probably something First American didn’t cover. If ever I buy another home, I know what to look for.

We have had a First American Home Warranty for about 10 years since first buying our house. We have had some success with FAHW but the last claim has been a complete and total disaster. I filed a claim for an oven with FAHW on Sep 30th - provided error messages, which based on an easy Google Search showed clearly that the controller card needed replacement. I scheduled the call and told them, "make sure your tech brings out the right parts... the error code is quite clear."
Tech 1 shows up... no parts - jiggles some things around and decides it is fixed. I complain that it is not but he says... "nothing I can do." 10 minutes after he leaves, oven is beeping error codes again. I call and schedule another service - Tech 2 no shows. I call and schedule another service and plead for them to just bring the right parts. Tech 3 shows up, no parts and says he has to order the parts. I schedule another service. They send parts. Tech 4 shows up and says "You have the wrong parts and they don't even make that part anymore. It has to be rebuilt." This is now 30 days after the initial call. I say ok and they have a vendor schedule a call.
Vendor calls and I ask - how long to rebuild the part? About 3-4 weeks. Which at this point would put me into December when I have a house full of people for Thanksgiving. At least a full week of calls into their call center later when I have been assured a call back and resolution to my problem, I get no calls. Exasperated - today I have decided to take their cash out option which amounts to about 20% of the price of a new oven. Which I hope I can buy and get in place for Thanksgiving. It seems clear that they were trying to wait me out by not calling me back and resolving my problem in the hopes that I would give up and solve it for them. Thanks for wasting 42 days of my life.

It's very easy to make the claim and they're very prompt and very quick to come out. The first time I talked with someone, they were really pleasant. The second time, it was an automated system. They're also very courteous. I really appreciated that.

We called in to place a claim on our built in oven that wasn't heating properly. FAHBP sent out a local contractor Knight's Maintenance and Repair here in Jackson, MS. The service guy first came out and stated that we needed a new circuit board and a new temp sensor. He ordered one and it took over two weeks for it to be shipped to him, we called him every other day to see when it was going to arrive. He finally came at 7:45 PM to repair it, but it didn't work properly. So he stated that they were going to reorder another circuit board.
We waiting another week, and hadn't hear a thing from Knight's Maintenance and Repair. We ended up calling him every day to see if the part had came in, and then called FAHBP. They indicated that the part was no longer supplied by the GE, and this contractor was going to have to find the part via e-Bay, Amazon, it and purchase it himself, and then they would reimburse him for the part. It is now November the 4th and we called this claim in a month ago, October 2nd and still no stove. I think I have had all the delivery pizza and take out Chinese that anyone can have.
I called FAHBP and asked why wasn't a national name company sent out like Sears, or Lowe's, and they couldn't give me an answer. I will not renew this policy which expires this month, and would not recommend for anyone to purchase their protection plan. The long wait time waiting to talk a customer service rep is unbelievable. I like to spend my money with a company that stands by their word. The policy states that if it can't be repaired they will replace it. I haven't been told that they will replace a thing, only to wait until Knight's Maintenance & Repair receive the part. I am a very patient person, but waiting a month to get a major appliance fixed that you have paid for a protection plan to fix is unacceptable.
Hi T. Thank you for your feedback. Your claim has been resolved. Thank you. Natalie.

The people who were selling the house to me were required to give me a year’s worth of home warranty. I chose to keep the warranty under First American because about two weeks before the warranty was supposed to expire, my dishwasher stopped working. I called them and a guy came out and fixed my dishwasher. From then on, I take the bonuses that the company I work for gives every March or April 15th to renew my home warranty contract. My house is about 12 years old now, so things are probably going to be breaking a little bit. I’ve actually had them come up for three things already: the dishwasher, the air conditioner, and then a couple of weeks ago, the refrigerator. So, I will continue to renew it every year.
Everybody I’ve called and talked to at First American have always been helpful. There were two occasions when they weren’t able to send out the original person they called up, and they grabbed somebody else, and that person did come out and fixed my appliance. So, we’re good there.
Great to hear, Scott.

I have been a customer with First American since 2008. I have paid every month for this coverage "in case" something goes out I would not be hit hard financially that month. My AC unit went out about 2 weeks ago, just stopped working would not turn on. I called First American, they had a company come out and said the compressor went out and it needed to be replaced. They had to get the work approved from First American and call me back. I received a call from the ac company that they would cover the compressor but would not cover a list of things that NEED to be done to FIX the unit. I would have to come out $390 plus $65 deductible plus I pay $50 a month for the warranty coverage $505 in one month!
I contacted First American 5 times, have talked to many "supervisors". They keep saying, "Under your contract in the fine print, we do not cover these expenses." The only other option would be they could give me a "buy out" of $340 since that is what they would pay the contractor to fix the problem. So basically I would have to pay more than the "warranty company" to fix the appliance that is supposedly covered under the warranty coverage I have. I would highly discourage any one thinking about this company, total waste of money. Now it is 50 degrees and my heat also does not work from this unit, and I am in limbo with a newborn and 3-year-old which I have also told First American, and they do not care. I am cancelling this coverage as soon as I can.

I got First American as part of the sale of my house. The people that sold me the house chose it and it’s part of the closing. Up until this time, I’ve only submitted three claims and everything’s been good. I haven’t had any troubles as far as warranty at all. I would recommend them, definitely. However I am having problems with the current claim I’ve got going on. They came out in September for my washer. It wasn’t spinning and they had to order parts. Then they came back the second time and worked on it a good hour and a half. And the washer was spinning and working good after they left. But within two weeks, I started having some water seeping out from under the washer so I called back and I said I don’t know if it’s something new or whether its something that’s ongoing from the original claim. So they sent the same company back out and the technician that came out indicated he didn’t think that one of the parts had been replaced. He said it could be that it was too difficult to get it off of there and maybe in the process of trying to get it off they might have made like a small crack or something in there.
Anyhow, they had to order a whole drum for the washer and they’ve ordered it but I haven’t heard another word since then. So I’m a little aggravated. I’ve made two calls. They keep saying they’re going to give me an update call within 48 hours. That doesn’t happen. In fact, I was just getting ready to dig the number out again and call them back. If it's on back order, all I want to do is know approximately when they think it's going to come in. I wasn’t dissatisfied with the work at all. I guess I’m more dissatisfied with the company giving me a runaround. Not home warranty, not even necessarily Sears that they’ve sent out because the technicians worked on it, but I’m just not getting any answers when I call. I guess I’m going to have to be a little nastier about it this time. When you order something, I’m sure they’ve got a general idea of how long they think its going to be. After all, its a drum. That’s one of the major parts of the washer.
We appreciate you, Marcia.

So I tried to start calling and that got rather laborious. It took me forever to get a hold of somebody, and they kept transferring me around and the phone would ring and ring at times but then when I got the right person he talked with the workman they put here and it all got worked out and that was very minor. The company wrongly listed my coverage property as Single Home in their system instead of "Condominium" from the beginning when I enrolled and have been overcharging me for the last six years. As a result, I have been overcharged about $360. I called Customer Services several times and wrote the letter to Vice President of the Company requesting for a full refund. The VP never responded to my letter instead sent me another letter asking me to renew the warranty for a higher amount. Neither he showed any interest nor integrity toward customers. Most of the Customer Service Representatives I spoke were not professional either. Finally I was able to get $96 refund but the company refused to fund the remaining over charges. They pretty much said "So what we messed up your property type in our system. We are not going to refund you full do whatever you can!"
The Company does not disclose the type of coverage property listing in the contract nor in the customers' website thus we have no way of knowing it until we specifically ask them. This is against "Transparency they preach". Therefore, please do call the company to find out that your coverage property is properly listed in their system.

3 weeks ago we placed a claim for our leaky toilets. After waiting 1.5 weeks for someone to come out - when the guy arrived - he informed us that parts of the toilet pump needed to be replaced. So we would need to wait another week for the parts to come in. Fair enough. Here's where it gets terrible - the guy comes back, replaces the parts - but now the toilets won't even flush - the plumber made them worse than before. So, 1st American's solution - send the same plumber back to fix the shoddy work. I eventually convince 1st American that I need another plumber. They agree - they send another plumber out - only to leave one toilet perpetually running. Once they come out to fix the remaining toilet - I will be cancelling my warranty for good. The customer service is completely unsympathetic - they have no clue how to make things right. It's seriously like talking to robots over there - actually I think robots would be better.

I have bought and sold several properties and currently have a few rentals and have always included a first American upgraded policy when buying or selling and had been mostly satisfied with their service. I have been paying for a policy on one rental property for almost 3 years (3 years in Jan 2015). The only tenant I had until recently had complained about once a year on the AC not cooling as much as he wanted and First American had sent different companies each time to repair the problem. I have a new tenant (with a handicapped daughter, so need everything to work correctly for her to be comfortable) and I noticed the unit wasn't cooling as quickly as I would expect. I filed a service request and had my own AC man (who performs regular maintenance on my units and had pulled and cleaned the unit about 6 months ago) check out the unit before the First American contractor came. I knew the 20 year old unit was on its last legs and was told the problem would require a new compressor and the freon type would probably require a replacement.
First Am's contractor came out and found the same problems BUT the tech wanted to pull and clean the unit and wasn't happy to learn it had already been cleaned and I knew what was wrong. He checked the cooling (it cools at 13 not 20 as is minimum) and he proceeded to check the filter (clean), etc. and measure for a new unit. He was also trying to sell me a larger unit (I could upgrade to a half ton or ton larger for extra) and the usual customer pay extras. The fins on the unit had been bent when I purchased the house, which does limit air flow. Not one AC repair firm had ever refused to service the CHA unit and had performed minimum repairs over the 3 years. Now all of a sudden I get a call from First American that the fins were bent, which is not normal wear and tear, so they are denying the claim. The bent fins did not stop the unit from cooling and heating for the 3 years I have paid premiums - the age of the unit (the last repairman told First American the unit was 20 years old and would die any minute when he made the repairs to the unit). Why would First American continue to take my premiums every month for 3 years and then deny the claim because the unit had bent fins?
I keep upgraded policies on my rentals for a reason - to provide excellent service to my tenants, not to enrich First American and to have them ask their repairmen to find a reason to deny claims. I had recommended First American for years - to friends, realtors and buyers - NO MORE! If the unit was so damaged it could not be repaired, why would the HVAC company sent out try to sell me a cleaning or other services and why try to get me to pay more to upgrade to a larger unit if the problem was so obvious they knew the claim would be denied? Why would the tech refuse to give me a copy of his notes/bill and tell me I didn't need to sign anything? Is it just to make a little extra for the contractor and when you don't pay for the extras they find a reason to get the claim denied? Certainly looks that way to me. I am submitting my own HVAC contractor's bill and diagnosis to First American, but their CSR told me I could do what I wanted but it wouldn't matter since they were going to deny the claim no matter what I submit. The least they could do is refund my premiums (less any payments made for repairs) for the 3 years since they certainly had notice of the CHA unit's age and condition from the first year.

But the third time I had to make a call on this thing, another company was sent out. My problem with that other company is they don't have any markings on their vehicles, they don't have any uniforms, they don't have any business cards, and I never have gotten a receipt from either visit that they came out here. Now I don't know what I'm supposed to receive from them. I don't know what kind of identification they're supposed to have, but nothing. Two different gentlemen came out. They did a good job but I don't know them and I've never gotten any paperwork from the company that they represent even though I talked to somebody in their office at one time when they called to confirm the second visit. I told them I never received the receipt from the first one and I'd ask if they'd send it. I was told I would get one for the second one and that was over a month ago, and I still don't have anything and I don't expect to get anything. When I called that second time I was getting a lot of resistance from them to send the same people that came out the first time. I'm very disappointed in this company. I called on September 20, 2014 to submit a claim because the catch on the lid of the soap dispenser was worn away (ordinary wear and tear) on my dishwasher. The appliance repair contractor said he had to order the part to make the repair. Then I don't hear from First American or the appliance contractor for over 10 days, so I reached out to First American and found out that my claim has been denied because I had "physically damaged" the appliance. That's hogwash.
I contacted the appliance contractor, and he said that First American looks for ANY reason to deny the claim. He wrote that there was "physical damage" to the unit. After looking at the video I took of the unit, he agreed that it should have read "physical damage due to ordinary wear and tear". I had him contact First American.
First American reached back out to me and told me that the claim was denied due to calcium build-up. This dishwasher has settings to offset to water hardness, and I have our cleaners clean it every month. So that was hogwash as well. The reason for any calcium build up is because the soap dispensers were no longer working due to ordinary wear and tear, and soap and rinse aids mitigate the calcium build up.
They then retract their denial of claim and have spent the last 2 1/2 weeks dragging their feet on making any repairs. I've had to research the model number of the dishwasher for them. After supplying them with that, they still took 4 days to order the part, and the part is supposedly taking a week to ship.
I have been washing all of my family's dishes by hand for over a month now due to their false denial of my claim--you'd think they would expedite the repair after realizing their mistake, but they show no inclination to do so. They are HORRIBLE at service--they do not feel any responsibility to make up for their mistake in initially denying my claim, whether it was willful or just negligent. And they've failed to call me back on at least two occasions where they promised to follow up after touching base with their contractor. I strongly urge any potential customers to choose another company.

I was with another HW company...and switched to FAHBP, biggest mistake I have ever made. If you are not happy with the servicers they simply say, "Too bad, you can take it or leave it." The best that they can come up with is that you can cash out and take care of it yourself. This is after waiting on hold for 45 min or more. They reimburse the servicers so little they have to make it up somewhere and that is by charging above and beyond to do the work. This puts you the customer in a lose-lose situation. The only thing I am replacing is this company with the one I was previously with. Buyer beware, don't make the mistake I did. I saw all the good review posts, mark my word for every good one I bet there are five bad ones. I refuse to believe I am one of the few that are unhappy.

I had a toilet break on me and flood a bathroom. The toilet had to be removed to fix the floor. Once the floor was fixed and toilet put back in place, they had me schedule an appointment with a technician from County Plumbing to fix the toilet, which was under warranty. When the technician arrived, he looked at the toilet, then rudely demanded $60 cash (as First American had told me to expect). I find it strange that they require cash, but now I know why. As soon as I handed him the money, he said there was nothing he could do, because there was a part missing. Then he left.
The part he claimed was missing was a supply line to the toilet. I actually had a friend fix the toilet the next day, and the friend told me there was no supply line missing - that the supply line was part of the stopcock that was there and had broken off of the stopcock, and had the technician looked more closely he would have seen that. I called First American to complain both about the rudeness of the technician and to demand a refund and got nothing but "there's nothing we can do". I even went up the chain, two levels of management and got the same answer at every level. I've never experienced this kind of bad customer service.
Hello Karen. Per our conversation, your issue has been resolved. Thank you, Audrey.

I already knew about First American ever since I purchased a home in Oklahoma City several years ago. I was over 50, single, in a new city and I knew nobody. I had relocated with my job and I had no family there. Having to do everything alone, I thought that signing up with them might be a good idea. The home I actually purchased had an above ground pool, which I was not real crazy about because I grew up poor. So I didn't know anything about having a pool. So the very first season the pump went out I didn't know what had happened, that that's what it had been. And they came out and they took care of that. When I found out what that would have cost me, I BECAME A BELIEVER.
Now I purchased a home a year ago here in San Antonio and now I'm a 65-year old single lady with not really a whole lot of people to come over and help me because I do everything independently. I kept the washer, dryer and the refrigerator, we worked these into the deal. And as I moved in and the first few times I used the washer, all of a sudden it didn't work. So it was great to be able to just pick up the phone and call First American. They sent someone out and I don't have to worry about finding someone referable (someone that was going to be referred to me that someone else had done all the research on), or if they are going to come in here and try and rip me off. I know that they've been screened and that they have a whole lot more to lose than just one customer if they don't keep me happy.
So I feel that certain peace of mind that I get through First American and I think the warranty is good in a lot of cases, and with baby boomers getting to the age where they're downsizing and they don't want a whole lot of headache, home warranties are something people should really consider. And not just for the first year that you buy a home. It's something you should consider keeping because of the fact that contractors have to be screened.
There is one thing however that I do not like about First American. I'm paying around $250 for termite protection. And if I do have termites and they have to come out, I still have to pay another enormous amount of money. And I know that I can get other insurances for that that would be cheaper. I did not like that that was tagged on to my renewal. That should be an option. And I was told in the state of Texas, I could not have that as an option. So I will be shopping around when it's renewal time next year to see if I have to pay that with all warranty companies or not.
Thank you for being a loyal customer, Geraldine.

This home warranty is not worth the price paid. During the year, I made 3 claims. I only was happy with one claim.
Claim 1 - Washer/Dryer - The company contracted fixed one problem but caused another. This is a vacation home, so I didn't use the washer/dryer for over 30 days after the appliance was delivered. When I washed the first load and called to complain about the new issue, I was told it was too late. If I wanted it repaired I would have to make another claim. I haven't bothered to do so.
Claim 2 - Air Conditioner - The company contracted to fix the problem couldn't come out for 2 days. IT WAS SUPER HOT IN MY CONDO, so I hired someone else. First American refused to reimburse me the repair bill because it was not considered an emergency. The condo is in S. Texas - high humidity, no breeze, 86 degrees by 8AM. In my opinion, that's an emergency.
Claim 3 - Plumbing - This was the only issue that was resolved to my satisfaction. Quick and fixed right the first time.
Since I was only satisfied 1 out of 3 claims, I will not renew my contract, nor will I ever recommend this company! My realtor friend recommended this company. Going to let him know my experience too.

I would call in and I try to follow the directions from the material that we receive in the mail and submit everything the way we're supposed to and call ahead. The people have been very friendly and there's never been any problem with anything we've done.
We've been very satisfied with them. We will renew this year. If I'm not happy with the way things go, I usually look around to see if I should go to somebody else. We live in a patio home and when my wife passed away in February, I went ahead and took it out, kind of an insurance policy. I was gone for the day playing golf and I came back and I went to get a glass of ice and water from the refrigerator. And when I did, the ice was nothing but water and I realized that the refrigerator had been broke. Now this was a holiday weekend, on a Friday. So I called and they sent somebody out on that Tuesday. And they came out, looked at it, knew exactly what it was, fixed it. They were in and out of here in less than an hour, and had it fixed and everything went very, very well. They didn't make a mess. It was very nice, very professional. Everything went pretty much according to what my friend had told me. And the refrigerator, the contractor put the part in there and fixed it and told me that if it had broke in 24 hours, to give him a call back and he would come back and repair it. Everything went very well, so I was very, very pleased with it. The bad experience turned out to be a pleasant situation.

We have been customers for just shy of 12 years. Always been very happy. I placed a claim on my Frigidaire Refrigerator and as always they promptly sent a service technician to my home. Unfortunately this did not work and a second tech was sent out. The fridge worked for 2 weeks. As luck has it we were in the process of getting ready to move. The fridge "died" the day our moving truck was set to arrive. I BEGGED FAHBP in good customer service faith to make an exception to the rule and service my existing claim in my new home (which is out of state). They were unwilling to work with us on any front. They suggested we move our entire house, leave the fridge and they will come fix it at the property address on file. We could move the fridge at a later time.
The supervisor I spoke with was condescending and you would have thought I was asking him to service my new house indefinitely. He kept repeating it was a breach of contract and the tech wouldn't know where to go. I asked wouldn't the warranty company be able to call them and explain the situation and set up a new technician. I received nothing but push back. I understand what I'm asking for is out of the ordinary. I was asking for a one time/one service call on this existing claim in this extenuating circumstance.

I regret ever having bought a policy from this company. They will not allow you to hire your own technician if they are able to locate one that will "contact" you within 24 hours of your claim. By "contact" they simply mean call you, but not necessarily actually fix your issue. Then if their technician comes and cannot fix the issue, the company's clock starts again and they have another 2 hours to locate a technician who will "contact" you within 24 hours. In other words, they can send you a tech, who can't do the job, and then simply try again, and again, etc... and meanwhile you're simply out of luck. When I called to ask them to do something about the situation they put me in, they had me on the phone for 54 minutes before disconnecting me. When I called again and explained that being out of hot water with an infant and a toddler for several days was unacceptable, the supervisor told me that he was once a kid and had to take cold baths! Anyway, this is a horrible company, staffed by horrible people, and I would never recommend buying a policy from them.

First, we have had good experiences for all claims OTHER THAN heating and air. And we have two warranties with them for our rental and our house, both purchased together, and old. So there have been a lot of claims. But we have had consistently bad service for heating and air contracting, and when we report these problems to First American, they claim to have made a complaint, but when I call later, the complaint is not on file. I was told today, they have no way of taking customer feedback regarding their contractors, though they advertise that they have the best.
The story. When we bought our home with the rental property on it in the spring, the heater quit working. We called FAHW and were assigned a contractor that never called us for an appointment. When I called the contractor, it was a plumbing company that didn't answer their phones. I called FAHW and they also couldn't get through to said contractor. At that point, they assigned me a new contractor - Expert Air. Expert Air came out immediately and diagnosed the problem and said they would be back within 3 days with the part to fix it. From then on I just kept receiving calls delaying the appointment, for 3 weeks.
Mind you, no heat in the cold for 3 weeks. Finally the contractor left a message that said, "Can't you understand, I just don't want to drive out there." We don't even live in the country, just a different town than where he is located. I was really upset at that point, he came that night and fixed the problem. I called FAHW to report him, they acted shocked that one of their contractors would say that, and said they submitted a formal complaint against that company.
The next month the heater was belching gas. I called and they assigned me none other than Expert Air, I repeated the story. They were shocked and said there was no file of it, but they would take care of submitting a formal complaint and kept me on the phone for nearly an hour getting the report. They then assigned me A & P Heating and Cooling. They came out immediately, were nice and said they fixed the problem. Of course, it immediately got hot because it was June by then and we no longer needed our heater. So, then our air went out.
FAHS assigned us Comfort Heating and Air. They took over a month to fix our air, asked if we wanted to opt to clean something on our system. I said not at this time, I want to think about it. When the motor that had gone out came in (they said it was special ordered) a different guy came out than the one who had diagnosed the problem but with the same driver - after delaying and not showing up at his appointment times at least twice. He took our whole motor to his shop and returned it, then telling us we owed him close $199 for cleaning it. I said we did not verify a cleaning and he said the home warranty wouldn't pay for it, and we needed it, so we had to pay for it and that I should just be thankful that the system was fixed.
Of course I am glad that my system is fixed, but I do expect that if we have paid for a home warranty it will fix the systems it advertises to fix. I should not feel like the contractor is doing me a special favor in fulfilling his end of the contract. NOT IMPRESSED! Then this week, it got cold for the first time of the season and we turned on the heat. Gas immediately began leaking. I called FAHW. Because it has been more than 30 days since A & P came to fix the gas leak, we have to submit a new claim and pay for another contractor to come out and fix it again.
To add insult to injury, they assigned, none other than Expert Air - the guy who didn't want to come all the way out here. I said there should be a formal complaint against them. They checked our files, no formal complaint. They then transferred me onto another department. They said that this time they were making a partner violation against the contractor - but didn't at all respond to the issues of Comfort Heating and Air, and have no sympathy for the fact that I am reporting the same issue that should have already been fixed by A & P. I asked why they advertise that they have the best contractors, if they have no customer review process or way of knowing what their contractors are like. That's not her department.

The 19th our water heater ceased to work. First sent out a person and said it was not working, so he called to get a replacement. He was told our contract was inactive. So why was he sent out in the first place? We were told the problem was pre-existing so a new contract would not allow them to fix it. Well after a day that was overturned and a replacement was ordered on the 19th. Today the 26th I got a call from claim management specialist who said "sorry we had a misunderstanding" and "we have now ordered your water heater" and it will be 3 to 6 business days, again. I have a home warranty with First American. I have had three service requests and I have had an issue with each one.
1. On the first request, I had an issue with my stove top. I was assigned Farley's Fast Rite. They called me while I was at work and wanted to go out. I said that was ok because I had someone at my home that could let them in. They asked if they would be able to get the service fee in cash or check. I explained that I was at work and could pay with credit card. The company was unable to accept a credit card and refused to go out. I called First American service center and tried to make payment and the call center rep refused to take the payment before the contractor went out. So in essence I was at a standstill. Contractor would not go out before credit card payment was made and call center would not accept payment. I had to request a different contractor.
2. My next service call was for HVAC. I put in the request on a Saturday so I naturally did not expect a call back until Monday at earliest. This request was assigned to Kidd Heating and Air. By Tuesday evening, I still had not heard from the contractor. Again I called the call center. First American call center contacted the contractor who lied like they called me and left message but I had not called them back. This was not true. I had not received any calls, had no voicemails, and no miss calls from this company. I requested to have another contractor assigned as I needed this issue resolved because my ceiling was leaking and I was trying to avoid other costly repairs.
3. My third service request was for my garage door. I open the request on 09/16/2014. It is now 09/22/2014 and I have yet to hear from the contractor. I am currently, as I type this complaint, on hold with First American call center waiting on a supervisor because this is absolutely ridiculous. I am paying a service fee for each request and I can't get quality service. I don't know who picks the service contractors but they suck. I can't cancel this warranty because it was purchased by the person who sold me my home but you can best believe I will not renew.

I have been a customer of First American Home Buyers Protection since 1997. Submitting a claim to First American was very easy. You submit your claim over the phone, and within a 24-hour period, if you have not gotten called by the company that they’ve contracted the work to, you can either call the contractor directly or you can call First American back and say you’re not satisfied with the service because the contractor was not getting back to you.
I have never been dissatisfied with the contractor that they have contracted with. There have been a couple that they were just satisfactory, but there were a couple that I actually took their business cards with the intent that if I ever had another problem in that area, I would ask First American, “Can that company be contracted because they did such a great job last time?”
Their fees are reasonable. At the point where I originally contracted with First American with my townhouse, I was a single parent with elementary school age children and no male in the house to be able to repair things. So it gave me huge amount of confidence that anything that went wrong in my home, there would be someone there at an extremely reasonable fee to fix it. And even though I have gone years not needing to access the service, knock on wood, I renew every year just because that one time that you need to can often take the cost of the entire year. So even though I’ve probably paid more than I’ve actually gotten out of it for my money, it’s a very worthwhile expense. There’s the peace of mind, even though my adult son now does a lot of the repairs around the house. If it comes to anything, I’d tell my son, “I want you to do the prep work and I’ll have you do the cleanup work, but the actual work in between, it’s $60, let me just go ahead and do it through the company.”
I do recommend First American. In fact, they used to have a policy in place that if you closed an escrow during a year and recommend it and the customer did in fact contract with them for a policy, they gave you a discount. They no longer do that. And I’m not an active practicing realtor anyway, so it wouldn’t do me any good even if they did. But I still recommend them.
Thank you for your loyal and continued business, Catherine. We certainly look forward to serving you in the future.

First of all looking at all the other reviews of this company, the creepy and embarrassing Thank You's to all those who write a good review pretty much sums them up. They could care less if you have an issue and have absolutely no desire to work with you at all. From the truly awful voice recognition service you have to go through to speak to someone - designed clearly to make sure you get through to no-one - to the huge wait time to the Mickey Mouse companies they employ to do the work this company is dreadful and I would recommend it to no-one. I pay $71 a month and the only times I've had to use them it has been a painfully long drawn out process with lies and appalling customer service along with dreadful actual work done.
My pool pump needed repair a few months ago so I called and the guy came round 2 days later and took the pump away. 2 weeks later he returned and put it back in and obviously I had to pay for all the chemicals needed to return it to its normal state. Last week, it rained in Arizona as it does in Monsoon season and my pump went out. Same company came round again saying a lot of pumps were going out. And lo and behold FAH denied the claim citing it an 'Act of God' which isn't covered. In their contract Article 3 cites normal wear and tear as something they cover. Er, it rains a lot here in Monsoon season! So it IS normal wear and tear for Arizona but of course they have no intention of paying out multiple claims.
As of today of course the pool company still has my pump and I'm still waiting for him to call to bid on the work that needs doing. Even after multiple calls to him and multiple calls to FAH, nothing from him. Every time I call it goes straight to voice mail and I would be gobsmacked if he even calls back to be honest. The pool is looking worse everyday and there is nothing I can do about it. A pitiful company that exists purely on the funds they receive from people who never need service. They will do everything in their power to ensure they do not pay for anything. If you need a home warranty, DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!!

They insisted that only their purchasing agents could purchase this coil and then send the part to their installers. Only then, could they schedule the installation (again a charge of $150 for disposal of the part). The coil was finally installed on the 19th. We were out of A/C for 2 weeks in this heat wave. My grandmother was the one who initially signed us up so we've been with First American for about 10 years now. For some reason I've got a lot of stuff that goes wrong with my house. So it actually worked really good for me. It comes in very handy and it's very easy to submit a claim. Have had very pleasant experience when speaking to claims representatives.
Thank you for your continued business, Leisha.

I made a claim for my pool, which was covered last year, but denied this year because they said "the pool company suggested damage was due to a recent rain storm and flooding." This was a lie when I reached out to the pool contractor, they never the above. In fact First American is using the storm as an excuse so they don't have to honor any claims made during that week and that is coming from the pool contractor.

Filed a claim on May 19th, because my air conditioner stopped working. Here it is September 18th, and my air conditioner still does not work. The air conditioner is on the roof which is 21 feet above the ground. First American told me that I would need to provide a scissor lift, so the technician could access the air conditioner. I rented the lift at the rate of $250 per week. Over the next 5 weeks First American sent out 6 technicians. The first technician to come out told me that my AC was shot and could not be repaired. He reported that to First American, who sent out another tech, who said the same thing.
First American continued to send out techs, each time instructing them to try to repair the AC. First American was hoping that one of these guys might figure out a way of repairing a crack in the manifold with glue and duct tape. Finally, I called a reputable AC company and had them look at my AC. Two days later, the guy I called gave me an estimate of $5,750 to replace the AC, and said he could have it done in a week. That was in June. First American told me that they would not pay to have my guy replace the AC, and their guy would work up an estimate. In July, First American sent a tech out to measure my old AC so he could order a new one. In August I called First American to check the status of my claim, and they told me they were still waiting for an estimate from the tech.
Last week they told me that they had ordered the new AC, and that I would be responsible for charges that were not covered by my policy. These charges amount to $2,100. So I carefully read my policy, and sure enough, they have worded their policy such that only the AC unit itself is covered. The platform that it sits on, the gas and electrical hook ups, the drain piping, even the required building permitting, are not covered. I even purchased their Premium Policy. In reading this very carefully, I found that the Premium Policy states "Company shall provide cranes and lifts required to access roof mounted equipment." When I pointed this out to First American, they said that I could submit my receipt for $960, for the scissor lift, for reimbursement. Now, First American refuses to reimburse me for the scissor lift, because "I did not get prior approval from them before renting the lift."
All of the techs that First American sent out were small companies, many were one man operations. I asked the tech how many AC's has he installed, he replied "a couple, but never one on a high roof. " Because of this I asked First American to cash me out, and I will hire my AC guy to replace the unit. First American has offered to give me $3,025, which is the amount they claim is covered by my policy. I have already paid $960 for the lift, another $360 for a portable AC that is noisy but keeps one room of the house comfortable, and now I will spend another $5,750 to get the AC fixed. And First American is only giving me $3,025, and they took 4 months to get to this point. I have made over 40 phone calls to them, which get answered by a foreign call center. Only after being transferred several times, I finally get transferred to a supervisor, and must leave a voice message.
The policy states that claims are to be completed within 30 days. Three times First American has sent me a letter stating that they must extend claim by another 30 days. They are horrible. Oh, did I mention this is the first claim I have ever filed? Needless to say, I will not renew this policy.
Hi Thomas. Thank you for your feedback. First American would like to apologize for any delays and inconveniences that may have been experienced. Your claim has been resolved. Thank you. Natalie.

My pool pump has been broken since July. The 3 contractors that came out diagnosed problem wrong. I hired my own contractor which they said I could to repair pool and now they refusing to let them do the work and want to send out their own contractor again.

There was absolutely no problem submitting a claim. I called the toll-free number, talked to somebody, and they arranged to have a technician out here within three days. Dealing with the claims rep was exemplary. My daughter had referred them and told me what they had done for them, and we said, "Hey, we're at the point where something could happen here that could basically financially kill me." So we said, "Okay, let's go this direction." I read the synopsis, all the pluses and minuses and all the basic major problem areas are covered. It's insurance well-advised to look into.
Thank you for your comments, Charles.
