With approval we were able to get Sunset Air out and furnace working on same day. They also saw root of problem, stayed on standby to us in case of circuit board failure, until a new board arrived and installed a week later. Good work and a relief. FA approved use of Sunset Air, and we pay upfront, but FA reimburses within 4-6 weeks.

When I bought the house, the previous homeowner had First American and it was part of our deal. I have kept them since. I've submitted several claims over the last 10 years. It depends on the service. But for the most part, it is pretty easy. In my business, I rate A through D with A as the best and D is the worst from my service providers. Usually, First American has kind of level C providers. They’re not the best. It's a cost thing versus service thing, but they get the job done.
I appreciate the ability to book everything online and pay online. You're not paying the service providers, you pay First American. I think not having to pay individual service providers is a benefit. Overall, the customer service reps that call me to make sure my stuff’s done are really good. Even through this year of, I had several claims, and them working from home, they were still able to help me. They did well.

A dishwasher broke in September, submitted a claim and received an October appointment. A day prior, a text message that the appointment is rescheduled. Sears Contractor finally shows a week later, spends 15 minutes and orders parts. ReSchedules for November. Shows up in November without parts, reschedules. Parts arrive at the house and we wait for the scheduled appointment which is canceled by text. December appointment, different Sears technician shows up, spends 10 minutes with the unit and reschedules to Dec 18th (claims this is a 2 person job). Dec 17th a text that the appointment is rescheduled again for January. A call to customer service reveals they don't have a limit on time or attempts: contractors can take unlimited attempts until they are unable to repair.
First American offered to switch to a different contractor, but it would start all over again and may need to order different parts. There is no urgency on the repairs or empathy from customer service. Spoke with the supervisor and he wouldn't authorize unit replacement until repairs/attempts are exhausted, which means it can take forever and you are at the mercy of whoever shows up at the door. Our options, wait for Sears (again), switch to someone else, or the very final offer -- find your own contractor who can abide by First American's terms and conditions, pay for repairs out of pocket, submit for reimbursement then call customer service to review. Absolutely useless warranty service!
First American apologizes for any inconvenience you may have experienced during the handling of your claim and thank you for bringing this issue to our attention. We are always looking for ways to better our service and your feedback is an invaluable part of the process. At this time, our records indicate that your dishwasher has been approved for replacement. First American is currently waiting for you to submit photos of your unit in order to provide with a similar replacement unit.
Please be advised, First American considers your claim pending.Thank you,

We've had four claims already in the three months we've had First American. Every time I've called, they're not very accommodating and not very helpful. I've had some issues with the actual connection and understanding the representative. I was in banking for 37 years and I had clients. I know what good customer service is and I'm not really seeing it with these guys. Then, I learned now to do a claim online and it's much easier and less hassle and stress. The first one I did online, it was like bada bing bada boom, here's who we got.
The contractors they've sent out have all been very responsive. They may not always get here as soon as I want them to, but they tell me that and they tell me when they can get here. They call and tell me they're on their way and then, they come in and they're very professional. They're very helpful and they tell us things about what has caused the problem or what they're doing to fix it. I've had very good experience with the contractors.

I contacted FAHW on 12/7 to report an issue with my HVAC system. An HVAC technician assessed the issue and stated an electrician needed to change the breaker. An electrician came on 12/10 and didn’t do anything. I complained. The same electrician returned on 12/11 and changed a breaker that didn’t need to be repaired. The issue still exists. I have been without heat for a total of 11 days and FAHW says they coded the work order wrong in their system and that the electrician isn’t at fault. However, they have offered no relief. My city is experiencing extremely cold weather. I leave the country 12/17 and still don’t have heat. I’m at risk of pipes freezing and becoming sick due to the cold temperatures. I have expressed my frustration and have not received any results. Please don’t do business with this company.

We opened a claim on October 25th for our heater, we made them aware of freezing temperatures in the area and that we have an infant in the home. A contractor was assigned, the contractor originally assigned was outside of our service area and we were unaware they rejected the work order. A week later we followed up and they reassigned a new contractor. The new contractor came out and diagnosed the issue as electrical and sent it back to First American Home Warranty as they were not able to repair.
The ticket then sat open over 3 weeks without First American taking any action. Finally we were asked by First American Home Warranty to source our own contractor and provided with an e-mail approving outside reimbursement of our cost. We sourced our own contractor who was both electric and heat/ac. They diagnosed the issue, which was not electrical after all. They provided an invoice as well as an estimate for repair. At this point we have gone over a month without heat.
Over the next week we sent several e-mails to our specific "claims specialist." We did not receive any reply. We were finally able to get someone on the phone from a different department who told us that the cost of the contractor would not be reimbursed as we were approved to provide an electrical diagnosis not a heater/ac diagnosis. So... because the contractor they provided misdiagnosed the issue as electrical, and we had to source our own electrician because they didn't have one, and the issue wasn't an electrical issue, we were to incur the cost for their contractors misdiagnosis. Note: the e-mail we were sent authorizing our outside reimbursement stated $200 for HVAC, and nothing specific about electrical.
After hours and hours on the phone and a claim opened with Better Business Bureau they finally agreed to reimburse our contractors diagnosis invoice, but still refused to authorize the work order. They then sent out their own contractor (the same one who originally misdiagnosed the problem) to diagnose the AC/Heater again. The contractor had already failed to do this, causing a months delay, but they sent them back out since it was not an electrical problem. After the First American Home Warranty contractor came out again, they agreed with our contractor on the parts that had failed. They then stated they would need to replace those parts before they could verify the other claim that the system had failed entirely and needed to be replaced.
Again we go another week with no activity. We are almost at 2 months with no heat, freezing temperatures, and an infant at home. We are spending a significant amount of money on firewood per day to attempt to keep one room warm, and having to maintain the fire 24/7. In addition to our cost being significantly increased and our quality of life for months being significantly diminished, the warranty company themselves is attempting to replace one part at a time before going with the contractors recommendation of replacement, which if we can make it through the process will ultimately cost them more.
They have asked us to source our own contractor, because their contractor has failed to diagnose and repair, and then reject our contractor and send out their own again. This continues to repeat, meanwhile they fail to respond or take action for long periods of time, regardless of the impact to our safety and living condition. The only thing we have been told is we can chose to pay for the repair and replacement ourself if we are unwilling to continue to wait and work with their contractor.
The entire thing is a scam. They take your money, make you pay for the $75 service calls, then reject the repair, are unable to diagnose, or reroute you until you give up. At this point we have spent upwards of $400 in wood trying to stay warm and wait on them, in addition to the cost of service calls, and still have no resolution and may end up paying for everything out of pocket as they have recommended because they "can't verify the unit need to be replaced." Even though the unit is not working.. and they can't get it to work, and their contractor is admittedly unable to diagnose the issue.. but apparently that's not enough to justify that it needs to be replaced.
Hello Lucian,
We would like to apologize for any inconvenience you may have experienced during the handling of your heating claim. I have been pleased with FAHW for several years. The only reason I did not rate "5 Stars" is that FAHW automatically assigns "Sears" who does not provide good service in my area. Each time I spend considerable time getting FAHW Representatives to assign a different/much better service provider. I have used Home Warranty Companies who had the software capability to block service providers that Home Owners do not want. Plus they can automatically assign a Service Provider that the Home Owner prefers assuming it is approved by the Home Warranty Company.

It took a month and hours of time on hold for me to get a motor replaced in my heater. The contractor and your company had terrible communication and I had to call several times. Sometimes your employees have me incorrect information. Every time I called there was no option for this open order but I wasn't opening a new order. I am not sure how the documentation was because I found myself repeatedly having to explain the situation. And then ultimately your company paid less for the repair than I did. In the future I would not recommend your company. I would have been better off working those hours and paying for the repair outright. Everyone I spoke to was very nice, but it just seems like you don't have a good system in place.

They always hire repair companies with a below three-star rating, and most of the time the technicians from those companies were clueless, and sometimes could not even speak English.

Absolutely do not use this company, if you are a realtor do not give it to anyone as a gift, and if you are a homeowner do not even think about going to this company. The entire way that they position their services comes across like they are the cheapest, most bottom of the barrel company you can find. They force you to make phone calls to speak with anyone and you can't even reach anyone because the hold times are so long, and then of course there's multiple transfers and people don't know what they're doing. Front line call handlers try to help you get service request taken care of, but frequently they forget about them, or they send you a vendor who is literally a retiree doing something part time and absolutely not be able to help you.
Their service itself is bad, but by far the worst thing is how they handle billing. You ask for something to be fixed, they help you get it resolved, and then tell you that you're on the hook to pay for everything. Oh and if you have questions about why you would ever have a warranty company, if you have to pay for everything on your own? Good luck trying to get to the billing department to ask that question. If I knew I had to pay anyway I would have hired the best quality vendors, not some know-nothing that made me wait weeks to fix a water leak!!!! Frankly, their billing department comes across like bunch of mafia who are trying to break arms and limbs to keep their money. With an iron fist around everything, they are absolutely impossible to work with. Run from this place!

I have a First American warranty and I put in a claim on a water heater and they denied the wear on the water heater as a preexisting condition. The plumbing contractor from “Fix it all Plumbing” came out for a few minutes, took pictures and left. It never said in the contract that the water heater couldn’t have any wear or tear. I was then told by a claims resolution specialist that if I could furnish the original home inspection report that established that the water heater was working that the denial could be overturned. So I did furnish and upload the report to First American and they deemed the water heater once again had a preexisting condition. It is obvious that First American does not want to stand behind their contracts.
In addition the wait times on their phone lines are ridiculously long. Lastly, I have had numerous contractors that have come out for other items that clearly seem like they don’t want to do the work but tout the particular job in question as not covered even though the contract I have stipulates that it is. I have talked with friends that have had First American Warranties in the past and cancelled them as well because of their dishonest practices. Stay away from First American Home Warranty.

Do NOT get a warranty with FAHW unless you want to go over a month without heat in wintertime with zero estimate of when your heat will be fixed. It took 3 contractors to diagnose the problem with our broken heater. The 3rd contractor sent the report to FAHW and told them we needed a new heat exchanger. That order then sat with FAHW for 5 days before being assigned to anybody in purchasing (despite my calling daily for updates and to "escalate" the ticket). Then once it was assigned to someone in purchasing, I called each day for updates and didn’t find out until another 5 days later that they had finally tried to purchase the part, and discovered that it was on backorder.
I then called every business day for another 2 weeks for an update, yet there were no updates and the item remained on backorder until they realized the part was covered by the manufacturer's warranty. They kicked it back over to our contractor who submitted the claim with the manufacturer... and after another 5 days it was rejected because the warranty actually did not cover the part so then... it went back to purchasing. This is where the claim is now. I just spent an hour on the phone describing our situation yet again and trying to get an update or some clear next steps. There still is no update.
I'm currently working full time from home, as is my husband, a end our 2 young kids are also home full time and homeschooling. We're here constantly and we're cold constantly. And it seems nobody at FAHW is doing anything to get this solved. Despite a full-time job and homeschooling two kids and having absolutely zero time to spare, I've spent close to 30 hours on the phone with FAHW over the past month. I'm cold, my family is cold, and we're going to continue to be cold for an unspecified amount of time. I will never again invest in a home warranty with FAHW and I advise you to never invest in FAHW either.

I should have not let that individual into my house; I felt unsafe the first time he came around, the second time I let him in to check the water heater because I wanted a fast solution for the issue.
Well, First American denied my claim, and I feel cheated. I cancelled my policy and I had already paid the whole year, since it was included in my escrow when I bought my place. I had lived in the new place for 2 months only and I received $125 as a refund, after paying $480 for the year policy. There isn't a local contact number and when I called and emailed the dispatched company (2.5 hours into waiting for someone to come fix the heater), they emailed back that the technician had left after no one was home. I never saw anyone come near the house, call out or call me (I asked for a call because the door bell doesn't work and I sat in the upstairs bedroom looking out the front of my house). I emailed to get a rescheduled appointment, got no response for 3 business days, and then got another appointment for today (>2 weeks after scheduling the initial appointment to fix the heater).
I asked again for a call upon arrival, received a confirmation that that'd happen, and now 2 hours into the 3 hour window, there still hasn't been a call or any notification about when the technician might arrive. Looking in my First American account, I saw 10 minutes ago that this open issue is marked as "completed" when it has definitely not been addressed. I saw First American advertised on TV and selected it. I'm quite pleased with them. I've used them twice and each time, they were great. Sometimes, you're afraid of who's coming in your house. My last appointment was for a refrigerator that had gone bad. The technician came but he was not certified to fix it, so they referred to another technician who was certified to fix it. They approved the part that was needed and the job was done in about a week. It was pretty fast for the part.

I had First American for a while at a house I owned in California. Then, I had somebody else for a while and I went back to First American. Submitting claims is fairly easy. It's easier going through the website than trying to call them. It's kind of difficult to get ahold of somebody. They tell you that there's a bunch of people waiting and to call back or something like that. The last couple of times I filed claims, I went through the website. The techs that have been out here have been great. Everybody they sent knew what they were doing. They don't try to oversell you or do more than they need to fix what's going on. It's been quite successful with First American overall. They're timely and efficient.

My hot water heater went out. I filed a claim online. They assigned a service provider. The service provider hadn't called me so I called FAHW, 20 minutes on hold with the worst voip connection ever. It was horrible. They couldn't hear me, I couldn't hear them. I hung up. Only to find they canceled my request. I filed again. Again another horrible call degradation issue. I had to yell at my phone for them to hear me, yell. Again, same contractor was assigned. A day passed. No call to set an appointment. I called and texted provider. Nothing. I messaged FAHW. Nothing. I finally contacted provider. He said he couldn't fix it because it is a gas water heater and they are not licensed for gas work. He said he could replace it for $1400.00 out of pocket because FAHW "wouldn't cover it". I thought that odd. Can't repair or work on a gas unit, but you can replace it if I pay $1400.00 out of pocket. He did give me a diagnosis over the phone.
I called FAHW and discussed the situation. I then requested another provider that was licensed to work on gas water heaters. They refused. FAHW insisted that the existing service provider come to my house to diagnose it in person. Then told me to call the provider and set an appointment. I tried. He only texts me and I'm still waiting. Meantime it's Friday, I have houseguests coming to stay on Sunday and have been taking 41-degree showers for two days now. Still waiting. Oh, and I get to pay the unlicensed service provider $75 for telling me the same thing in person that he told me over the phone. If I get an appointment that is. I've paid $1000 plus for home service warranties and this is my first experience. The new water heater would only be $325 more than my out of pocket expenses so far. Do the math. Is it worth the frustration? My warranty expires tomorrow. Guess what I'm going to do.

We requested to have someone examine our machine and they no showed the appointment. We then requested to have them come the next day and the technician never ran any diagnostic reports on the machine and left. We were then still charged an invoice for a service that was never provided and refused reimburse us. We asked if they would be willing to send a technician out again to check our machine but they refused to send anyone. We ended up being on the phone for 12 hours in total trying to resolve the issue and they proceeded to tell us that they would not send anyone and we still had to pay. The experience we had with the company was so bad that I have no idea how they are still in business. I would never recommend them to anyone I know.

When we submitted our first claim, I looked the company up on the internet that First American assigned it to. Their consumer reviews were terrible and so I called the Home Warranty back, and the first customer service person I got said there was nothing they could do. That didn't make a lot of sense. I wasn't happy with the response. Another week or so later, I called back again. I got a young man on the phone who was extremely helpful and said that he could get me another provider, which was very good. If I get two different customer service people on the line and they tell me two opposite things, they need some better training. Then I had a second claim that went just fine.
Hello John. Our records indicate you placed a claim on September 11, 2020 for your oven range not turning on. First American dispatched RA & C Appliance Inc., to diagnose the failure. The contractor reported the control board and temperature sensor had worn out and recommended replacement of the parts. The repairs were completed on October 13, 2020 and the unit was reported to be working properly.
We do appreciate your feedback and understand your concerns. Please be advised that we do not reassign contractors based off online reviews and we are unable to verify the validity of those reviews. We were without working toilets and showers for almost a month because of tree roots in the pipes. Our coverage covers both a video scope and clearing of roots, but the First American Home Warranty vendor refused to do it and First American Home Warranty refused to follow through when I made them aware of the problem. Instead, the vendor broke their snake off in the pipe and told me I would have to pay nearly $3000.00 to have them remove the broken snake and ascertain the damage. In the end I spent $600.00 for a local plumber to come out with a video scope and high pressure hose to clear the roots from the system.
When I shared this information with First American Home Warranty, they completely ignored me. It was horrid, incompetent and careless - the way in which First American Home Warranty handled the claim by choosing to not listen and simply turned a blind eye in what possibly will be our greatest need for their help. First American Home Warranty is disgraceful, uncaring and deceitful. First American Home Warranty has no interest in helping homeowners, they simply want your premium money and then for you to go away until you cut them a check again next year. They have even called me with a new update for delivery and then when that doesn't happen they again tell me I'm wrong and it was just an estimate.
I have asked to have a buy out on the appliance since they can't get parts and they said they can get parts so they will not do it. I asked if that was good customer service and was told and I quote "it's not about customer service". I've asked to speak to supervisors and they put me there isn't one, when I press the point they put me on extended hold and the next person is no help and tells me I just have to wait, if I ask for another supervisor because I feel I've waited long enough and I want a resolution they HANG UP on me.
All I want is my dryer fixed, to be able to do laundry and they are disrespectful, demeaning, unresponsive and uncooperative. I switched from another home warranty company because it was too hard to get through on the phone, this is my first repair and will be my last. When the Insurance company assigned a plumbing company, I conducting researches about the plumbing company and I found many negative reviews related to homeowners' insurance customers. I then requested to assign a different company and received a response from the Insurance that they don’t go with reviews and I should give them a chance. Someone from the plumbing company came a few days later. The contractor didn’t do anything besides removing a toilet.
A week passed by I received a call from the plumbing company stating that insurance approved only toilet repair and cartridge of the shower. So I contacted the insurance and requested cash out or they can pay directly to the plumbing company of my choice. After placing me on hold for over 1 hour the insurance offered a ridiculous amount which does not cover all repairs. I've been requesting to talk to the supervisor and fortunately was able to talk to someone after calling at least 5 times, waiting on holds a minimum of 20 minutes. The supervisor was even worst than his crew. He was very rude, disrespectful, and didn’t want to help. So I gave another shot to contact them and Jazmin ** answered the call. She assured me that she will do all possible to help, long lines of apologies etc. During the conversation, I requested a 2nd opinion.
A few days later the company came and since then everyone disappeared. I contacted Jaszmin several times a day left voicemails and also emailed but she never responded. Called customer service several times a day, requested to discuss the matter with the supervisor but they either disconnect the call or transfer Jazmin's direct line which is not available to customers. We have a very bad trap smell throughout the house, which is unhealthy and unsanitary. The toilet in the bathroom has been removed and not installed back for over 3 weeks now. The 2nd company removed the shower valve and left disconnected. Basically, we do not have an operating bathroom for over 3 weeks now and I am not sure when it will be fixed.

The guy came out and said it needed to be replaced.
We got the new microwave. The people who were supposed to put it in just showed up at the door and didn't even bother calling. When they came in, they said they would not do it. They wanted me to tear my original cabinets up out of my house which was built in the 60s before they put the microwave in, when all I had to do was drill a new hole and put a bolt in and hang it myself. First American needs to get better quality people to do their work. The last few times, we've had issues with providers that they're contracting out with. I have 3 home warranty policies with First American. The service is unpredictable across these three properties. In Arizona, I have no issues. Service is timely and the providers are reliable. But, it's a very small town with only a few providers and everyone knows everyone, so it's kind of hard to screw up. My primary homes are in Orange County (SoCal) with tons of providers and options, yet I rarely get a service provider assigned within a day or two, and then it takes several days to get an "assessment" appointment, followed by even more time to get the actual service completed.
One property had a hot water heater go out and I ended up having to call an outside firm to get the work done (it was as simple as replacing the existing water heater, yet First American's service provider claimed a special valve configuration was required that would take more time...that wasn't the case). First American reimbursed only a small fraction of the service, even though we purchased the cheapest water heater available.
Now, I have an issue with my pool pump. It's been 3 days and no word from the service provider yet. I spent an hour on the phone with First Am (it's impossible to get a person, and when you do, they are merely a message taker....you really have to probe to get them to solve a problem in the same call). Anyway, my pool man could have replaced the pump by now. First Am will send someone out next Wednesday. Oh wait, that will just be the "assessment" visit. I should have some interesting creatures growing in my pool by the time someone actually fixes it. Service isn't always this bad, but when it is, it's frustrating and it happens too often.

Finally, First American admitted their buying department was unable to buy the necessary product, and agreed to give us a check for about 80% of the cost for us to go out and get it ourselves, which we were able to do. By giving us the check, it also voided the ability for them to pay to have it installed, so they returned our $75. This transaction was definitely a negative, but the service overall is very good. They respond quickly and send out knowledgeable repair technicians. The workers quickly finish, and if an issue occurs again, they take care of it without us having to pay me more. The claims process is very easy and quick. You call in, tell them what the problem is, they assign somebody to come out, and it's taken care of.

BUYER BEWARE! I only gave one star because I had to, to submit this review. I wish I could give negative stars. Don't make the mistake that I did... First American Home Warranty is a complete sham. I hired them after hearing that they were a better warranty company than others, and after careful consideration I went under contract with them. My first (and only) service request was incorrectly diagnosed, and then the claim was denied, after the warranty company took my payment. When the problem persisted within the 30-day warranty period for the "service", I was told I could issue a new service request, and pay another service fee, or hire an independent contractor to diagnose the issue, then submit a dispute to the home warranty company (read into that - spend more money and they still wouldn't cover it).
I spoke with multiple people in the claims dispute area, including managers, and I was given the same answer - "we can't help you." I have requested cancellation of my contract (at a high cost since there are cancellation fees), but nonetheless I do not want to be associated with a company that does ABSOLUTELY ZERO to keep their customers, and with whom I have very low confidence that they have technicians that do the work properly. Why work with someone who "can't help you?" Keep your money and hire professionals to repair your problems. VERY POOR PERFORMANCE First American Home Warranty.

First American Home Warranty uses deceptive practices to lure customers in. Firstly when I registered for the service, they never disclosed it was a contract. I only found out I was on a contract when I visited their website and saw it. I was shocked. Secondly I put three work orders in, one for my AC unit, dishwasher and leaking sink. A third party technician came and stated that my leaking sink was not covered, although plumbing services was included in my plan. No technician ever contacted me regarding my dishwasher 'til date. It has been roughly 4 or more months. The first technician from platinum repair came and repaired my AC, which only operated for 3days after, and then shut off. I contacted first American and another technician from sears came and it worked for three days again and shut off. I couldn't call them again because I was a busy mom to two toddlers working two full time jobs.
I contacted them again after a couple of months because the heat was too much, only to be asked to pay $75 service fee to have another technician come out. They stated I had to call within 30days of the repair service to bypass the fee. I booked an appointment with the technician, called off work, only for the technician to do a no call no show. I contacted first American who put me on hold for close to an hour only to hang up on me. I proceeded to contact them again because I was already frustrated for missing work and the customer service in a rude manner asked me to contact the technician and ask when he's coming, or she can book me with another company. Why am I paying a monthly fee and still have to do all the leg work? the reason I got home warranty is to avoid the stress of doing so.
Throughout all this time, I never received a call from First American to check on my situation. And no mention of my work order for the dishwasher as well. I kept calling because the California heat was in the 100s, and my kids were suffering. They rebooked an appointment with the first company platinum repair. The technician came and said he needed to do a leak test and will be back in five days. Five days came and went, no call no show. I contacted platinum after waiting almost two weeks and they told me "sorry". I asked for an appointment and they told me they were booked up. They finally came and checked the condenser and said it was leaking and they will put a work order right away with first American, then come and change the unit. I asked for the details and the technician said it was leaking from the condenser unit. I said ok I'll wait. I waited for almost two week, no call.
I contacted Olatinum and they said they will send the work order that very day I called them to First American. I said why did you have to wait for me to call to do so, I thought you already did it. They said "sorry". I told the man I will be calling tomorow to follow up. He said ok. I ended up calling almost a week later due to being busy. This time, a lady on the phone told me they will be sending the work order to first American that very day. I said but I thought it was already done last time I called. She said nobody said such, the call was recorded. I told her well if you play the recording back you will hear that I was told the work order will be sent that very day. She said "sorry" and they will get to it that day. I didn't have any choice but to take her word. I was tired at this point. Only for me to review my voicemails and hear first American say they will not cover my claim because a "nail" put a hole on my pipes and the HOA has to remove the drywall.
I am disappointed at this company. The deceptive practices of locking me into a contract that I was not aware of, then playing games monthly with my requests. Sending incompetent third party contractors to change and make up whatever story they deem fit. I want to cancel this fake contract, because my needs are not being met. I feel scammed, and duped by First American and their third party contractors.
I want to all my money that I wasted refunded and cancellation of the false fake contract by first American. I feel trapped and they will continue charging me and knowing fully well they did not intend to do the job they advertised. I have yet to have anything resolved. I keep chasing third party contractors that either unavailable, and unwilling to do their job. First American leaves everything up to their contractors who are not reliable and refuses to take responsibility for their actions. Instead when you call to complain, they put on a long hold, hang up on you or ask you to follow up with the contractor. I want out of this false contract.

I have documented all the technician visits, I have surveillance recording in my house with all the videos of the visits, I have shared pictures of the damage, and videos of the actual issues and I have not received any response from First American. I will keep sharing this information for potential customers to be aware. I have had this warranty for 5-6 years and in that time I’ve filed 3 claims; 2 of which resulted in replacements & 1 that was resolved with a repair. The process for filing a claim is really simple. You can either file a claim online or over the phone; I’ve done both & had no issues with either. When it comes to repair the work is exceptional & with replacements they offer a very nice comparable or a reasonable cash offer so that you can purchase your own (again, I’ve done both). If you choose to take the cash buy-out there are a few extra steps involved to continue coverage on that item (i.e. emailing proof of purchase). If you take their comparable appliance; they have it delivered/installed quickly and you’re done. I have no complaints with their service & I highly recommend First American to anyone who searching for a home warranty.

My AC went out and 2 different companies were sent to fix it with one of them causing an electric fire in my breakers that I had to repair on my expanse for close to $1000 as they refused to send an electrician urgently.
To this day the AC is not working properly but I will not use their contractors to avoid further damage. Then about 2 weeks ago my oven stopped working. They assigned a contractor who did not contact me within the 48 hours listed on the policy. I had to constantly call the assigned contractor until he finally showed up. He was not wearing a mask and was incompetent stating he cannot remove the oven from the cabinet asking ME to do it. Obviously he left with the oven not working and I notified FAHW and since then there is complete silence as they claim they are trying to locate another contractor. When you buy a new home, you think you are getting protection when you get a home warranty as part of the purchase. Think again: be prepared to wait. They are in no rush to serve you. They're hoping you'll walk away or go somewhere else. And they have a limited number of approved contractors - rather than find more contractors, they'd rather have you wait in hopes that you will give up. We had to wait a week before a contractor ever even came out to inspect our broken appliance. And then you have to wait for approval. And then you have to wait to schedule an install.
Expect a lot of legal wrangling. Their customer service people can cite clause after clause of their contract. If they happen to approve your claim, they will not necessarily replace your broken appliance with the same brand. They will find something with the same specs, but then they look for lowest price. We had all appliances by the same manufacturer and they all had matching handles. Now we have an oddball. We'd have been better off taking the cash the seller paid at closing and buying what we wanted than dealing with these people.

We have had several types of warranty claims that needed immediate attention. Water damage, A/C issues (in 100-degree heat) and appliance issues. The response time in which it took to contact a representative was ridiculously long. The number of times we were transferred after long hold times was ridiculous. The promises of reimbursement checks being mailed were false. As a matter of fact, we are still waiting for a check as I write this review that we were told was mailed on 8-27-2020. Company policies seem to differ with each service rep we speak with. We pay to have this service at our disposal.
We are not unreasonable people. We expect honest straightforward answers to our inquiries. We don't enjoy being told different stories each time we need to follow up. As a matter of fact, it is not our job to follow up, it's yours. Don't have homeowners do your legwork. Call your customers back, set callbacks. Each of the three services we were in need of resulted in long, long hold times and broken promises. The photo attached is unfinished work from more than a year ago. The crew never came back to finish. Shall I go on? Figure it out so as to help the next homeowner in a more expeditious way.
