The installation team (Chris and his dad) were clean and courteous and did a nice installation, would give 5 stars as I'm waiting for my check for the garbage disposal I provided, Had to call back for an install date twice. Other than that I'm satisfied.

I called First American because the garbage disposal was making a terrible noise. They immediately assigned a plumber. Two days later he arrived and determined that the unit had to be replace. He had a new disposal in his van and replaced the old one. Job was done within 20 min. The new disposal works great… no noise. The only cost to me was the $75 service charge.
This is a new home to us, but was built in the 1980s. I am in my 70’s and don’t move as good as I once did. It’s really nice to have to make only one call to get everything done. Great peace of mind. We have had a couple minor issues with a water heater leaking (new one installed), cycle timer went out in the clothes washer (new installed) and annual maintenance checks of the AC/Heating unit. We are very happy we purchased and renewed our warranty with First American. Their service has been excellent. Absolutely no problems. Great company.

They use foreign people that are hard to understand???? Also it took them almost 3 weeks to replace a air-conditioning unit. It was 120° And my husband was sick. We a dog and a young Granddaughter living with us. I'm happy with the other claims. Microwave, garbage disposal.

Overall pleased with First American Home Warranty. Unfortunately several FAHW representatives were often not responsive or helpful. That being said, once I was directed to their supervision they easy resolved any issues and eventually provided good service and a GREAT reference in Airmarc HVAC. Airmarc employees were knowledgeable, tentative and very helpful.

Have not scheduled for fix my fridge when parts are in!!!!! Terrible follow up. Poor communication. Say they will call and don’t!! Can’t believe how bad communicate is. I called and called to no avail! Sick that I pay so much and get nothing!!

My email to First American clearly stated I had a problem with my ceiling fan remote. Turner Electric was assigned and we could not establish a time for help. Woo Electric was assigned and scheduled promptly and professionally. On the visit the tech immediately told me the remote was not covered. I called and sure enough weeks had gone by with no fan or overhead light and now I have to figure it out myself. I am looking for an electrician to help me, I am ordering a new remote that I hope is going to solve my problem. I have no idea now how much time this is going to take. I had hoped First American would make it simple. Most of the time time, First American solves my problem, not this time. They have promised to give me back my $75. So, since I am not happy, I can't give the normal five stars.

Your service is the poorest I have ever encountered. I filed a claim on 5/24/2021. It is now 6/4/2021. The repair company could have had the part in two days. You chose to get the part saving $3.00. None of your so called managers respond to emails or calls. You will not get any recommendations from me.

My air conditioning was leaking and it wasn't getting cold. I filed a claim to First American and it's been three weeks but they have yet to call us back after the claim has been processed. I've had multiple bad experiences with them and it's been ongoing. I even am out money because of the bad people they send out since it was my job to have my ceiling repaired. One of the techs who came out for the plumbing issue cut a hole in my ceiling and looked up there with his cellphone. If he was a registered plumber, why wouldn't he have a flashlight? I complained to FAHW and they did nothing about it.
After that was repaired it started leaking again from the upstairs bathroom and a tech fixed it again. That tech said that the people who came out the first two times fixed the leak wrong. FAHW came out three times. It was the same contractor for three different problems and the first two didn't even exist. I'm more upset that I'm out the money because I had to pay $1,500 to get my ceiling refinished and painted and then the problem started again.

At this time we are in the middle of a repair and we will let you know how the service is once the leaks are completed. We have "high" hopes at this point for good results. The initial response was timely and the plumber that was sent out seems knowledgeable and pleasant. Now we are waiting the repair portion.

The tech repaired our garage door. The only downside was that he had to replace the wall button which we press to make the door go up or down and he did not have with him the same brand. Instead, he used a different brand to replace it with. Other than that, I was well-pleased.

I'm feeling good about First American. It's definitely worthwhile and I will renew it when the year comes up. It does definitely save me money. I had a dishwasher claim and an icemaker claim and both are resolved. Raj, the gentleman, that fixed the dishwasher was very pleasant, professional and efficient.

I would recommend that people get a home warranty particularly if they're looking at a house that’s not a new one. I've saved a lot of money already over a couple of things that have gone wrong since I moved into my house. I'm happy with First American. When you file a claim, they tell you who they assigned the claim to. They have the contractor call you to schedule a time to arrive. As far as the work, it's been high quality. However, I have some mixed feelings about some of the professionalism and comments that were made by some of the contractors that were not directly related to the job they were doing that could have just been kept to themselves.

We had American Home Shield for a long time then one day, they cancelled us. We needed a new warranty, and I looked them up on the website and compared it with other people. First American was the one I called, talked to and was the most impressed with. Because they are not a 5-star and some of those others I talked to were. Our most recent claim with First American was for our oven, which needed a part in it, and it took forever to find it. The warranty company doesn't let the technician buy the part. They've been doing that themselves, and that part took about a month and a half to get here.
The biggest problem is their policy. Right now, parts are in short supply, and they have a policy that the technician has to buy it through them. That's because they think they can get it cheaper, but they never follow up with the client and tell him where it is. They say, “We're gonna buy it,” then say they can call the client and find out where it is. But I always have to call them back and they say, “I'll call the supplier.” They've never phoned out anything to us that says, “We expect the part in on June the 4th.” We waited two months when our upper oven needed a new motherboard. I agree, motherboards are in short supply, but the technician here in Oklahoma City may have been able to find one.
First American also puts a lot of stuff with Sears, and Sears comes out, shows up, says we're gonna have to replace the unit and never comes back. We've been unhappy with Sears. Other than that, we're perfectly happy with the technicians that come out here. This new one, Jet Plumbing, has been prompt and on the money. As a matter of fact, all of the plumbing contractors have been very prompt and able to fix everything. The appliance people have been held up by being required to go through First American to have the parts.

I have an open claim for a Jacuzzi appliance and First American has been sending generic plumbing and electrical contractors. They aren't the right contractors for this assignment. They did not have the expertise. I've had four service visits and no resolution or further contact. First American should take the initiative on communications with the client and update the client routinely on the status of the of the claim.

I called in a service request for a clogged kitchen sink on 5/28/21. I have received notification that my request has been assigned to a plumbing contractor. I am now waiting for a call from the contractor to set a date and time for my service.

When my new AC was installed, I lost power in part of the house. I called First American Warranty and then they had an electrician restore my power. I used to have another warranty company, and when I had an issue, they sent this guy that was on his way from New Mexico. He showed up in his truck, knocked at my door and I said, "If you don't have any uniform, you don't have any company ID..." He said, "Well, I just got the call on my way over here, and I'm sorry but they stole my license." I said, "No. I don't let anybody in my house." He said, "Well, I can show you the work order." I verified it with the person that was in charge, but that guy didn't have tools. I like that First American Warranty always sends good contractors. That's the best thing.

The technician didn't know what he was doing and then I didn't get any feedback on what they were doing. They were very slow and I wasn't impressed. I called them to see what the status was and whoever answered the phone was short with me. Dealing with that company was not a good experience. However, it was just a short day or two after, I got a call from First American, which was great.

The guy that First American sent was terrific. I recommend him. Always send him. The only thing is it took a little while before we got scheduled, and the refrigerator was an important thing. But overall, it's okay.

I am pretty happy with my experience, though some of the contractors have taken a long time to schedule an appointment and even longer (nearly two months) to perform the necessary work. Lots of waiting, which is frustrating. I’d also like to see shorter windows for the contractor to arrive. I’m currently in my fourth hour of waiting for a plumber.

I feel very comfortable with First American. They've done a good job. Dealing with Sears or any appliance repair has been difficult. The technicians are great but not the coordination of appointments and the communication back and forth about when they're going to be here. They canceled several times on us without telling us for sometimes, the right reason and sometimes, no reason. Parts have been difficult to get. Once they got here, things have gone fine. It's just that it took five weeks to get our dishwasher repaired. The parts were here, and the communication back and forth between First American and Sears was really difficult. I called and checked up on things and said, “Are everything good to go for our appointment this week, everything good tomorrow?” Then they didn't show. I called and asked if they were you coming. They said, “Oh, no, no. There's a problem with the part.” I checked three times.
First American came with a seller's warranty, and we enhanced it with just about every coverage that they offer. I had no experience with home warranties before, and we are so pleased that it came with the transaction of the house because we had a lot of things go wrong. I realized how the relationship worked and how helpful they can be and what the limitations are and understanding that, and they were very good about explaining all that on each situation. My experience has been great as far as having a home warranty with First American. I would definitely recommend it to other folks. I don't know what we would have done if we didn't have it. It's just that self-assurance that, maybe not everything would be covered, but it's either going to get repaired or replaced, and it limits your out-of-pocket stuff.
Sears aside, everybody else has been really professional, communicated very well and showed up on time. We had York Mechanical Services and they were fantastic. It was a difficult situation because our heat pump and air handler went. That was a big expense. Everybody kind of worked together to minimize the risk. First American helped as much as they could on even some of the not covered things. They we're supposed to be repaired, and it didn't happen because they replaced it. Then we got a cash out value, which lowered our liability even further. They really worked with us to do the right thing by us even though we've had a lot of service request, and we're kind of a nightmare client.

I had American Home Shield and I just let it lapse. Then First American Home Warranty called me and I got a better monthly premium with them. When I signed up, I just did it online. Then they automatically renew it unless you want to cancel it. To do a claim, you can do that online or you can call them. It's $85 for a service call. If they can't fix an issue, then they'll replace it. I just had my microwave door replaced because the spring in it broke.
I've had two different guys come out here. One was when my hot water heater was leaking back in April. First American didn't cover that because it was under the manufacturer's warranty, which I didn't realize at the time. The guy was very nice. The guy that fixed my microwave came a month and a half ago when the door wouldn't latch. He kinda rigged it because one of the springs inside there broke. Then he went ahead and ordered me a new door. He came and put that in today. So, I am very happy with them, besides my hot water tank, which really wasn't their fault because it was under the manufacturer's warranty.

The contractor was irresponsible. He was asked to go to the location on an emergency situation and he did. Upon arriving, he assessed the issue and explained to First American what the issue was and needed an approval to proceed. An approval was requested and granted that same day. He left and did not start the repair. Here it is 14, 15 days later, he answered his call and there was no explanation or apology. First American said that he's going out there today between 10:00 and 12:00. I haven't called to confirm if he's there yet but the service was deplorable.
I explained to First American what this crisis was. They said they were going to get a contractor to come out but between the time I last called or made a connection with First American, the response from the contractor and them was very far in-between. I had to call back again and ask, "Did you get a contractor? When is the contractor coming," or tell them, "The contractor came. This was assessed but it's not done. When will it be done? What's the follow-up?" I don't expect First American to drop the ball for every request I make but when I emphasize the urgency, it is not granted. That is where I would consider leaving them. I have experienced some bad previous experiences but it's getting progressively worse. I've recommended four people to them, most recently were my parents, and it's not beneficial in any way, me recommending them and them having similar experiences.

Always there when I need help. Plenty of contractors to choose from. Service is done within a reasonable amount of time. A ton of support with all my concerns and during the claims process. FAHW also does follow up on how the contractors performed and quality of workmanship.

On schedule to do an update on heatpump that will meet code. Scheduled time is excellent and will mean we will be ready for a hot summer. Complex update that was quickly and thoroughly diagnosed and the time after diagnosis to the scheduled update time was very good.

Overall good experience. A few hiccups getting there. Slow to respond to complaints of slow service especially considering it was winter & no heater. No sense of emergency or going above & beyond due to extreme weather. It got done & thank god we used portable heaters so no pipes froze.

All in all, the experience is positive and I renew the warranty annually and plan to continue renewing. Very responsive and they address any issues within a day or less. Easy to file a claim online in minutes. Coverage is very good compared to competitors. The only negative thing is the contractors. When it is a large repair, they are experts at trying to find “non-covered” costs to add to the bill. The company sides with the contractors and never question their estimates.
For a covered HVAC replacement, the contractors added $2000 in “modifications”, like disconnecting the power cable from the old unit and connecting it to the new one was $250 in (low power modification), same for the high voltage wire, and for the 2 drain pipes. When informing the warranty about this abuse, they never question the contractor or allow a second opinion. Same goes for replacing an electric panel. Contractor added $700 in “grounding” because it is excluded from policy. They need better contractors, or stricter oversight.

I only used them twice. Both times the problem was solved within 2 days. The work was done, the job was not very hard to do but I was not able to do it because of my condition. Now things are better for me.

I called due to a clogged drain. They scheduled me with plumbing service on the day I requested, The repair was quick and easy to set up. I was extremely satisfied. The best part is knowing that the price is affordable and if the issue isn't resolved I can have them come back at no charge.

Called on Monday and was provided with a company who gave me a repair appointment for Wednesday. The company called Tuesday morning with a cancellation appointment and arrived promptly and completed the job. I didn’t know the job had been completed and I asked my husband when was the company returning to complete the job, and he informed me that it was all finished. The company came to the job with a new water heater so a return visit was not necessary. This was quite different from my experiences with other warranty companies. Great service and great work!

It took a few days to get someone over here. Then found out that one element was totally damaged and a spark had kicked off the switch in our power box. The water heater had been installed barely 5 weeks prior to this happening, It was a brand new water heater. Don't understand how this could have happened. The technician took the damaged element to show his supervisor.

We just bought a house and that always comes with surprises. Our garage door opener was working perfectly well during the inspection and for a a couple days after closing. However, when we were done moving into our new house and went to close the garage door, it had stopped working. Seriously? The day we move in? Well, First American was there for us! First American immediately assigned a service provider for us and they contacted us the next day to schedule an appointment. Our problem was resolved and all we paid was the service fee. It was great!

Motor wasn't running and it was sporadic. Sometimes it would take 10 tries to make it work. Work was done in a timely manner and very happy with the result. Now the garage door opener works like new. I definitely recommend you guys.

Had request for plumber and was assigned a plumber with very poor reviews on Yelp and Homeadvisor websites. Asked for different vendor and was told that online algorithm picks vendor and no choice is available. Plumber was at the house for a major issue for 10 minutes and 5 minutes of that time plumber was on phone with warranty company talking about a different client. 5 minutes wasn’t enough time to access the problem. Plumber was dismissive and wasn’t listening to me.

First American is very good. They respond in a great way for my rental houses. Which I had ten at one time, I own a house in Bakersfield and they are going to replace the dishwasher. Never had a problem in 12 years. Now that the housing market is way up in California I am selling these rental houses. Renters are a pain in my **.

My water heater was leaking. A technician came out to evaluate the situation and filed his report that day. Our water heater was replaced the next week! The whole process was fast, cost efficient, and stress free! Would recommend using First American home warranty to anyone!

No hot water was available in one-half of our home (we have two water heaters). The technician found the problem and repaired. The repair facility was very helpful and found a space which allowed the technician to come to our home the next day. I'd recommend First American to someone else. I kept using them because I found them to be useful. The two times I've used them, it's been great. Both companies that came were very professional. When the air conditioner went out, it was an expensive repair but we only had to pay a couple of 100 dollars because we had to pay for the freon. I also had an up and down baby washing machine that the dryer quit heating the clothes. First American sent somebody out and the tech took it apart, fixed the fuse and put it back together.

I’ve had to service the same plumbing problem seven times in four years. They refuse to do anything more than patch the problems. Waste of money in the end. It will now cost me thousands to repair the secondary damage from poor work previously provided.

First American has been pretty responsive with my claims and they've been able to fix everything they've come out for. I used to call in when I needed a service and there was a long waiting time. Plus, the responses could take a little longer. But since I've been doing it online, I haven't had issues. Whenever I would submit a claim, they'd say that within 24 to 48 hours, I should be getting a phone call from the contractor that they loaned out. The techs who come are usually good, too. I just had someone out for my dishwasher and he was pleasant and very nice to deal with. It took a little bit longer to repair than what we originally expected but they ended up following through it. They needed a part, so they had to order that and it took a week to finish the repair.

We had a leak and it caused our house to flood. The first plumber that came out supposedly fixed the leak but a day later, we came downstairs and the place was flooded again. First American had to send another tech out and he stopped the leak. The process for submitting the claim was also pretty straightforward. It's just that I should have looked closer at the actual items covered in a home warranty. If you can get to use it properly and if you have a large loss, the deductible for $75 is worth it. But most of the things that we've had had been smaller issues below the deductible, so they haven't been reported. Then, there was something that we had that was a larger expense, but it wasn't covered under warranty. Other than that, First American's reps were congenial and we got action from them swiftly.

There's an inconsistency with the quality of the contractors that come out. We've gotten some real good ones and we would like to be able to ask them to send or not send certain contractors but that option is not available. When the refrigerator wasn't cooling, the first guy that came to replace the fan placed it upside down. Then, they got somebody out that knew what they were doing and got it working. It took four calls to do it, but we were able to get it.

Everything's going great now with First American. I recommended them to my friend and he signed up but I don't know what happened to the $25 referral fee if they put it on my account or not. I just had a good service yesterday from the plumbing company, AJ Bono, and I was calling First American back because I wanted the guy to come out again to look at the sink. I forgot to tell the plumber about it and they told me to call First American to kind of give them an update if he's gonna come back. Other than that, it hasn't had any problems since.
We had a little bit of an issue when it came down to the air conditioning last year. When I first signed up with First American around April last year, it was a series of things. I made a report that our heater and air wasn't working. First American sent somebody out and the guy didn't know how to do the work. He said we needed a specialist to deal with our air conditioning situation. First American sent another company out. They said they could do it but I needed a lot. It had something to do with the condenser, the hoses and the airflow wasn’t going right, etc.
Several companies came and couldn't do it or didn’t specialize in it. One company, Eco-Pro, could but when they came out to do the work, they noticed that there was mold in the wall when they took out the system. They said that they couldn't do the work until the mold is removed. I got a contractor to remove the mold then I contacted Eco-Pro back. They came out and was saying I needed to provide them with a certificate that it's been removed. I took some pictures and showed them that it was removed. Nobody told me that I had to provide them with a certificate that it’s been removed. I told them to forget it and that I was going to go somewhere else and would be filing a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. Before you know it, they said they'd go ahead and accept it. It was the whole summer we didn't have air. The whole winter, we didn't have heat. It was a disaster. We live in Suisun City in a really hot area. They fixed it but it was a lot of going back and forth.

When I first moved in, I had a problem with the air conditioner and the company that came out was exceptional. They thought it was the thermostat, so they replaced it. I still had issues, so they came out again. But I didn’t have any issues with having to pay again. They spent quite a bit of time trying to figure out what it was and it was something electrical under the house. The technician replaced some kind of circuit board. This past time, I had somebody come in again to repair. They repaired my icemaker, and then it broke again. So they're coming out to repair it again.
I started seeing some insulation coming out from my vents. So, I called First American up and tried to find out what was going on. They sent an air conditioner company. That company told me that I had a mouse infestation under my house and they were eating through the ductwork and they weren't responsible for that. So, I called an exterminator. He went in the house and didn't see any signs of mice. I called the duct cleaning company to come out and they cleaned all the ductwork and said it looked like new construction. When they ripped the ducts, they never cleaned them. Basically, the air conditioner company guy was just not a very good guy. So I told First American that I didn't want that company coming back out again.
First American Home Warranty has been really good as far as customer service goes. But some of the companies they've chosen haven't been that great. Other than that, I'm probably gonna renew again with them.

The technician came to check refrigerator but not able to diagnose the issue. Second technician was dispatched and diagnosed issue but told me that the compressor need it to be changed. But he could not change it because it was under manufacturer warranty. He provided me with number and information to call manufacturer. I was still charged $75 dollars for visit and no repair was performed.

Due to COVID and moving internationally, we purchased our home sight unseen and insisted on an American Home Warranty. The seller didn't provide it but we wanted it enough to pay for ourselves. First American has been wonderful. I called them because the sensor went out on my washer and got a company. It took them over a week to come help me. I called First American back and we got Sears out here. Sears comes right out. They got faster service. The tech checked out the sensor and did a good job. I talked to him while he was doing it and he was considerate. It didn't bother me talking to him. He knew what he was doing. I had another home warranty company and I got rid of it. It was a lot more money per month than First American.

I love First American and I’ll renew with them. I recently had a claim for my water heater. Even though it was a newer water heater, it was sending false information and causing it to stay hot all the time then it would just shut off. The tech came out and replaced the part. He ended up giving me his phone number because there was no way I could reach anybody at the office. My only complaint is that the vendors are extremely difficult to reach. First American had a vendor that was relatively near for electric but the other couple were far so it was difficult to get them to my location. I wish that First American had some more vendors centrally located in the San Bernardino County area.

I get a response quickly when I file a claim but it seems like First American can't get anybody out for three to five days. Recently, I had my basement flooded. I was trying to get a plumber out because of the drain in my basement. It happened on a Friday and they couldn't come out till Wednesday. I’d like to see the repair techs being able to come to our house quicker. I also did have a problem when I put in the claim for my heater. It was blowing cold air and it was almost below freezing. It was the same thing. The contractor couldn't get out for days so I ended up paying out of pocket for somebody else to come out to fix my furnace.

I had my garage door repaired on the 24th of March. I noticed there was some kind of repair still pending on there but I hesitated to call First American. When I called, they said the 30-day time period was already over for them to work on the same thing without any fees. But First American is a good warranty company. They know what to do exactly. I’ve had a few claims the last month and I requested one a day before yesterday. The technicians they send are good. They come on time, know what they wanna do and finish their work.

I requested services for stoppages in kitchen sink, the plumber came after 2 days and check the sink for less than 10 sec and said will submit recommendation to my insurance for change of pipe as it was installed wrong, but they did not do anything, I waited for 2 days and called the insurance to follow up, finally scheduled 2 days after, the plumber came and said that they were here before that he did not tell what they will do today and left. The insurance denied the request for not cleared reason, we ended up paying outside plumber to do the job and he did the good job the unclog the sink. How would you deny such request without doing anything first, and others can do for only less than 30 mins, very frustrating.

First American was helpful all the way through the process, and in the end, reimbursed us fully. I would recommend them because they were helpful and honest; however, there was one negative. The process was long and arduous and took a lot of my husband's time. I guess with the world we live in today, they have to be extra careful and authenticate every detail. I have been with them for about ten years, they are good and fair, I actually compared them with Choice Appliance. When my heater broke down they paid me for a new one. I paid the one thousand dollar technician fee which I actually was able to choose my technician. While Choice Home gave nothing, I was having 2 of them at that time, so I quickly stick to them and drop choice home.

Required a second opinion who turned out to be better qualified to assess the problem which required the gas line to be red tagged. Eventually the gas heater was replaced which was greatly appreciated. Gary, service rep from Provolt, was very professional and knowledgeable.

I called First American Home Warranty to request a service on my dishwasher not running. I paid 75.00 dollars fee for the service. A technician was sent to check on the dishwasher. He found the board is bad. There were black mark on one side of the board. He also told me the outlet connected to the dishwasher is not working. I assume the electric shock burnt that board and the outlet. He told me he need to order the board and will be back with the board to fix the dishwasher. He asked me to replace the outlet because it’s not covered. He also told me to call the pest controls because he found 2 tiny roaches???? inside the dishwasher. I agreed having those two done before he come back. He should be back on April 20, 2021.
On April 20th, I called the technician in the afternoon to see what time he will be in. He told me the request is completed. He said the company told him that. I log in and checked. It’s completed. I called the First American Home Warranty. They told me they denied my request because the roach damaged the board therefore the request is denied. I asked them if they have proof if the roach damaged the board and who damaged the outlet connect to it. Roaches can not make blacken marks on the subject and turn the outlet bad. She said the outlet is not part of the claim. The customer service told me to hire a license technician to verify in writing that the roach did not caused damage the board because her technician told them the roach damage the dishwasher. I questioned her why the technician told me different?
She put me on hold checking with the technician. When she's back, she told me someone in the office made that decision not the technician and nothing she can do about it. I asked to talk to that someone, she transferred me to an answering machine. Left message and no one call me back. Sent them pictures, but they do not consider.
I believe the First American Home Warranty should let me know that they denied my request instead letting me wait more than a week and found down they complete the status by calling them. I believe they can find any other reasons besides blaming the roaches for things they cannot do. Roaches cannot damages 2 different items in different areas at the same time. I am real estate agent and I referred this company many times to my clients. I feel bad about it.

We just purchased a house in Simi Valley. I am working with Janis ** and Tamara ** in order to resolve the swamp cooler issue past 3 weeks. There is no process made. First of all, the communication is really poor, and each time they come up with another step or requesting more stuff, then I have to wait several days to get a response. First American assigned a technician first, then they sent "more reliable" one. But, guess it was not enough, supposedly the last one needed to come one more time, then I waited for several days, it turns out to be the last call was canceled by the insurance. The cooler is leaking on the roof, will fall off soon because of the corrosion. Only wasting time and money.

Our dishwasher leaks. We called American Home Warranty out to inspect it. The service man could see it was leaking but determined that it was excessive amount of soap causing the leak, even though we were using PRE measured packs of detergent. $75 for this observation. The dishwasher kept leaking. We requested another service, $75 more. This time the service man determined it was faulty weatherstripping around the door. After calling in to his office it was they realized that the weatherstripping is unavailable and the unit must be replaced.
They did replace our unit, however, the replacement is of the lowest quality of dishwasher you can buy. It does not even dry the dishes and they need to be towel dryer after the cycle is complete. I could spend another $75 and call them out again, which would amount to $225 spent on my warrantied dishwasher that already pay $60 a month for. I do not recommend this company and I am just waiting for my year's warranty to expire.

The previous owner of the house purchased this as part of our home purchase. Our whole kitchen and laundry had some blockage so we requested a service for $75. Their first matched plumbing service Street Plumbing & Rooter (**) did not reply to us for 2 days. Multiple calls always ended in the voicemail. Then we called First American. We wasted 30 min to find out that we have to repeat "speak to a representative" three times in a row to get to an actual person. Then their rep spent another 20 min trying to call Street Plumbing & Rooter and came back saying that all is fine and they left a message. After we pushed for changing a service provider, the rep went back to "talk to the manager" for another 10 min and got back saying the best they can do is to have another provider coming 4 days later. On their own request page, they promised "24~48h for non-emergency" and "8h for emergency". This is total **. We ended up finding a plumber ourselves.

My son is with First American Home Warranty. He said they did very well so he referred us to them. I submit claims on the phone because I stay on hold. We're busy and it's easier for me once I start just to stay there. Because whenever First American called me back, I would always be somewhere else and I couldn't talk to them.
When I bought the refrigerator, it worked for 13 hours and it quit. First American brought a guy out. He had to put a new board in that. But it wasn’t a new board because it was on backorder for 30 days. First American had to buy our refrigerator out because they couldn't get it fixed, which is very good. It took me a long time to get it through. I wasn't very happy with that. The issue was the guy wasn't showing up. He wasn't fixing it. The people that I dealt with with First American were very cordial, but the tech they had come out to repair it didn't tell me what was going on. First American had an issue with the back office because they didn't follow up. It took seven months or so, but we got it taken care of. So, not only did we get the replacement board, they went ahead and issued us a new refrigerator. So far, so good. It takes a while, but First American has taken care of my needs.

We had a leaky kitchen piping. We had one great visit and four bad ones. The last contracting company was excellent. They turned up early and they were very good. They fixed it. Very happy with them. The previous company to that, we had one guy come in our house with muddy boots and we had to clean up after him. We had to schedule it four times. They did no-shows. I had to call them to see if they were still coming. We had to set aside eight hours of windows because they had kept either not coming or they were late and I would have to follow up. That experience was very bad, I felt very dissatisfied. If I was First American, I'd want to hear about the negative ones so they could clean up their business. No point in hearing all the great stuff all the time and think everything's great, when I'd be very skeptical about referring them given the negative experience we had.

I like First American. I’ve been a customer for at least three or four years now. Sometimes when the AC goes out in the summer, the service takes a couple of days. But that's just the nature of the beast. First American outsources its customer service agents to different countries so sometimes, I have a problem with that. But everyone outsources and I get it. You're paying $40 a month, what do you expect?
First American does what they say they are gonna do. My washer went out and the check came in a timely manner. I immediately went out and bought a new washer because it was an inconvenience and I couldn't wait for it. The new washer cost me more than the old one. First American didn’t give me the price of what the new one cost but they gave me $700 which is still good. If people are complaining, they are just whiners. First American did me right and it's been a really positive experience.

There were a couple times where they said something was covered and they sent somebody out and it wasn't covered. It also takes some time to get somebody out but they've all been great once they come. Usually, the average repair is going to be three to six weeks before it's completed. It takes a while, but most of the time, it works out well. I would recommend First American. They've replaced quite a few of our appliances. Most of the time the last few years have been easy too.

I opened two claims this year. We had a washing machine dryer and it failed. It had no repair so First American proposed to replace the unit. One complaint I have is First American proposed a replacement that did not fit our expectations so we took the cash option. It really took a long time to get the cash. They should speed up the reimbursement process if we don't take the replacement option. My second concern is about the dishwasher issue that we just had. A repairman came and it took a long time to get the parts that he ordered. He installed them and the dishwasher is still not fixed. I had to call again to reopen the claim because it's not working. You always have to call because the First American website has very few functionalities online.
Also, when you call First American, it takes a very long time to get somebody on the phone. Many things could be done by email or by a more developed interaction on the website. For example, I had to call a couple of times for my cashback. I had the first guy on the phone that told me it was going to be processed. Two weeks passed and they never processed it. I called again. There could be a lot of things that could be followed up directly online instead of having to wait for somebody to become available. One time, I spent more than one hour and a half on the phone. On the website, it said that if the dishwasher was not fixed within three days, I could re-click to resubmit the service. But the button did not even exist so I had to call again. The website could be improved to make things a little bit faster and easier for everybody.
At the end of the day, First American delivered. From an overall goal, which is to get the customer satisfied, we got there. We got our coverage for our washer and dryer. They gave us back $1,300. We still had to put $700 out of pocket on the replacement but it was better than nothing. The only thing was the process was a little bit painful and it was too slow.

I've been with First American for a long time. So far, so good. The tech who came for our hot water heater did well. I was just a little confused because I ended up paying $1,000 out of pocket. They tried to explain the issue. Part of it was I had to upgrade some of the fluids then I had to have it inspected, which we hadn't had to do previously. Overall, First American is beneficial. But if I put the money in the bank, I could do just as well.

Our water heater went out in December. We submitted a claim and then they contacted a plumber. The plumber came out and wanted an additional $500 to put the tank in. So we said we’d do it ourselves. We didn't think that the warranty would pay for it at that point because we did it ourselves. But we found out a couple of months later that they would pay for it. Then they reimbursed us for what we had spent on the water heater. They're also usually prompt to respond and take care of the issue as quickly as they can, considering everything that’s been going on this past year. They're really good to work with.

I had a claim for my garage door and First American's service was good. I was called pretty promptly. The technicians start and end early, from 9:00 to 4:00. They should do evening hours for people. That would be cool. It was quite inconvenient going without a garage door from Tuesday to Saturday. I could have gotten it promptly serviced if they had the ability to come out in the evening. That way, First American can get happier customers and prompter service. In my case, it was my request to wait until the weekend because I couldn't miss work during that period when my garage door went out. The technicians came promptly on Saturday and fixed it.

Recently, making claim with First American has been super easy because I can just go on their website, log in and put in a service request. I requested a plumber to come out recently. One of my sinks wasn't working and it totally slipped my mind so I didn't put it on the service request. I told the plumber about that and he wouldn't even look at it because it wasn't on the service request. That meant I would have to put in another service request and pay another fee to have another plumber come out. It was irritating. But overall, First American has been pretty good and pretty responsive. They're very easy to work with and they really strive to satisfy the customer. I haven't had any issues with them and that's why I stayed with them for many years.

If you are looking to purchase a home warranty, stay clear of this company. They show no urgency to help fix your issue, take their time and my claim was suppose to be expedited. My water heater stopped working and I turned in a claim, I told them what was wrong with it, they sent a technician out to look at it three days later, he did not fix it, he had to diagnose the problem and report it to them for approval (which I already told them what it was) 5 days later, I contacted FAHW and they had not received the diagnosed issue, so I emailed them the diagnoses from the technician and asked when they will have the parts sent to repair my water heater, FAHW said that purchasing would have to approve it and it could take another 24-48 hours, 6 days later and I am still waiting for parts to be approved and sent to technician. Best case I will have Hot water 18-20 days after problem started.

We had an electrical problem with switch for 2 recessed ceiling lights in kitchen. Electrician came and said recessed housing light broken not covered by insurance. We replaced housings and electrician came 2nd time because we said problem was not fixed when he left. On 2nd time, he came and said loose connection in attic and he is not small enough to connect them to recessed lights. So, our problem of 2 recessed lights unresolved after 2 tries due to wrong diagnosis on 1st time and unwillingness to fix 2 recessed lights on 2nd try. We need someone to take care of this problem.

I called First American Home warranty because my dishwasher would not stop running. When the technician came he asked what the problem was and started checking everything. He told me that it was my timer. Told me that he would order the part as soon as he got in his truck. I received a text from First American letting me know that my part was ordered. Before the Technician left my home he scheduled a return appointment to come and install the part. It was about 1 week. I received a text when my part was shipped.
It arrived and when the technician came to install it, it took him less than 30 minutes to get it running correctly and stopping correctly too. He was very professional and nice. And cleaned up after he completed his job. I have used First Home Warranty a few times before they are always very efficient and quick getting the service that I have needed. I highly recommend them.

First American has been a Godsend! They have already saved me hundreds of dollars in repairs I would have otherwise had to pay out of pocket. The timing was perfect for me and a wise choice, as just a few months into my service, my refrigerator broke down with a $600 repair that only cost me my nominal service fee. I made an online request and was very clear in the comments section that I wasn't sure if this was an issue for a plumber or someone else. The plumber said, not them. Ok, so First American calls and says it's not a covered repair at all...so nobody read the comments section? Why was someone sent out for a repair that wasn't covered? Had I done this on the phone with an agent I would not have been charged as they would have been able to tell me it was not a covered repair. VERY dissatisfied with the online service request tool.

First American replaced our hot water heater. They did not cover all the expenses, but they covered the biggest part, which I appreciated. The plumber that came had a little glitch. Like with things like that that are old that get replaced, there's usually debris. Sediment gets in the line and causes some problems with our faucets in the house. I called them after they had left and they came back and tried to fix that. They did a good job. But I had to call them to do that. They should have tested that all the water lines were clear before they left. But they were happy to help and I appreciated that. They were also very professional.

Something broke on my dishwasher. They sent somebody to fix it. It got fixed, but it was the same issue I had before. It had something to do with the gasket that was totally coming apart, so it wouldn't close. Within a couple of days, the gasket started coming off. So I called them. I told them that it wasn’t fixed right, and then they were going to go ahead and call the appliance company that can fix it. But then, again, they took a while to get back on the phone. From then on, they said that they would call the company. Then I didn't hear anything from them after that. A week went by, and then I called them back. They said, “You were supposed to call the company.” I was like, “What? That's not what the last representative told me.” It was a misunderstanding. They still have to come back and fix it. I'm scheduled for them to come back on the 13th of April.

It takes me two minutes to submit a claim with First American. Having that website, you can go on 24 hours and place the claim. It's just super simple. I don't even have to talk to anybody and it’s done. Then they message me and say, “This is the person assigned and they'll call you within 24 hours.” The techs are always cool and super nice. Everything's been fine with their work. It’s also pretty prompt. The longest I had to wait was for the dishwasher to be shipped. But the water heater was done in two days.

They assigned our washer claim to Sears. Sears took a while to come out. When they finally came out, the man walked in, he looked with one look and then left. He said, “Yup, you need a part.” Then we didn’t hear back from him. I called First American back and they were able to resolve it by saying, “We'll find the part for you or we'll just replace your washer.” Then, all of a sudden, Sears found the part and then they came back and asked us if we want to install a part. He came in, installed the part and now the washer works. We also put in a claim for a microwave. They gave us a replacement check because it's such an old microwave. So we got two things and they were perfectly fine. It was easy and fast.

Once you put a ticket in they will not send anyone out or update your ticket until you call. After talking to 5 different people and stating my story to each one of them because their is a lack of communication in this company. Then they will make you wait to get it fix with their crocked companies. That want you to pay them off the books. I have had a leak and been dealing with them since 03/12/21 and they still want me to wait so a third company can come out and look at the same thing on 03/23/21. The whole time it is leaking in my foundation. I called back again and the supervisor today say you can take it or leave. it. We will only cover $500 of the whole bill and the rest is out of your pocket. I only give them 1 star because I can do negatives.

FAHW provides a good service at a competitive price. My only complaints are the amount of time it takes to get anything done. Hold times on the phone are extremely long and if you need to go outside of the 'provider network', be prepared to spend a lot more time. Overall, I've renewed the contract for a second year, so I do see the value in it; that said, I've spent way more time than I believe is necessary to get things fixed.

After a cost of over $600 for the home Warranty and paying a $75 service fee, two weeks later they tell me they are not covering what the contractor has told them needs to be done to have the washing machine working properly since water backs up through the drain tube into my laundry room floor. Why do I need a Home Warranty if they charge me a service fee and a high year fee and still don't fix the problem? Don't get caught in this scam. Guess that's why they need to advertise themselves all the time making promises and offers they do not cover.

We live in CT and bought a 2nd home (built 2010, single family) in Texas 12 months ago. We plan on retiring there in a few years. We rent it out for now and have not been able to travel to TX because of pandemic sheltering. We are not familiar with tradesman in that area. Thus it has been extremely helpful to have First American promptly make the repair arrangements for us when needed, once we initially inform them of a problem. We also have been happy with the prompt service we’ve received from each local service (3 or 4 plumbing repairs, garage door hardware repair, refrigerator repair). The peace of mind provided justifies the cost of this coverage. I also believe our tenant has some comfort knowing that unexpected problems will be repaired promptly.

We have been most satisfied with the FAHW and the savings it has afforded us. In most cases repairs were made in what we consider a timely manner. However when circumstances called for replacement, the wait was at least 3 weeks. Now having said that, it is due more to contractors than FAHW. Their people have always been polite and have always done everything they could to help. And, in the end, all was done to our complete satisfaction.

The repairman called me the day of the initial appointment and wanted to come early. This worked out great since the window was from 12:00 to 5:00. After his inspection it was determined both machines needed parts. He placed the order and I was notified a week later of a new installation date. Once again the appointment time was convenient and efficient. So far, both the washer and dryer are working much better without noise or pause. I'm very happy with the service from First American Home Warranty and Accord Appliance. One thing that could have been handled a little better was from the agent who called me to let me know about an easy electronic fix on the washer. She left her phone number and extension so I called her back, waited days for a response and never got one.

I raised a service request #** regarding my broken home garage door opener with First American Home warranty (FAHW) on 2/12/2021 - A contractor (Ace Garage door) was assigned who visited my property on 2/15/21 - The contractor assessed the opener needs to be replaced and said they deal in a particular brand and that will cost me $800 for replacement, although my expectation was to get a like for like - FAHW said they would cover only up to $278 towards replacement and labor to which I expressed concerns regarding the exorbitant out of pocket cost I would incur just because the said contractor deals in a particular brand.
FAHW agent told they will send a different contractor for second opinion but my case was closed without redressal of issue - All this while I had made more than 30 calls to FAHW office spending several hours each time, dealing with several disconnected calls causing me unwanted mental torture while having to deal with an inoperable garage door. Finally they cornered me and was forced for a cash or go with the contractor they assigned by shelling $800 out of pocket. These guys dont care for the customer and I feel totally cheated. Beware of their practices.

Updated on 03/24/2021: I have been dealing with First American Home Warranty on a claim since early February of 2021. They have made promises to reimburse me on a claim and as of today, March 24th, I still have not received a one penny. Look at their last response, "We will provide payment solely for the upstairs repairs as there were no leaks reported for the downstairs bathroom faucet. Please allow 5-10 business days for the processing and delivery of the check. Thank you." And still no payment. Do not trust this company. They will not honor your claim and you will be just wasting your money. Find another home warranty company. It can't be any worse.
Original Review: Keep your money or find another home warranty company. These people are the worst in the industry. When they call you and pitch their service, they make it seem like they are legit. The truth is, they are NOT! The service companies they hire and force you to use are horrible. I had a major leak in my master bathroom/closet and was not sure where the leak was coming from. I submitted a warranty ticket to First American and they sent out a plumber the next day. Well, the plumber could not find the source of the leak and said that I needed to replace the tiles in both of my bathrooms. He said there was NO LEAK. HE THEN HANDED ME a $9,500 ESTIMATE and left. He was at my house for about 10 minutes. Keep in mind, that I had to pay First American a $75 deductible payment, before they sent anyone out.
The water kept leaking and leaking. Finally 2 days a later I called a licensed and bonded contractor that was referred to me because my carpet, shoes, and personal items were ruined due to the continuous leak. This plumber stayed at my house for 3 hours and diagnosed THREE LEAKS! I told him to repair it to prevent more water damage occurring to my house. He did and the bill was $2,100. I paid it.
I called First American Warranty and told them what had happened. I got the run around. Every time you call, you are placed on hold for 30 minutes and then hung up on. When you call back, they accidentally transfer you then get hung up on. This went on for weeks. I made at least 25 phone calls. I spoke to the claims resolution department, Carlos **. He promised me I would be reimbursed. I never received a reimbursement. Then he stopped responding to me. This all started on February 2, 2021. Today is March 8th and I still have not received my reimbursement. And just so you know, I bought their platinum coverage plan, that supposedly covered plumbing. What a joke.
I finally spoke to a supervisor in Claims Resolution on March 5th. She was so rude and condescending! Her name is Anna at ext, **. I asked her for her last name but said she couldn't give it to me to protect her privacy. But It's okay for Carlos ** and Anna and all the other employees I had spoke to the last month to give me their full names??? She knows exactly what she is doing. She probably gets a bonus for every claim she declines or won't pay. She said that my claim was now under investigation and that nothing should be covered because I got my own plumber! WHAT? They sent me a plumber who said that I had NO LEAKS. And this caused even more damage to my home. What was I supposed to do? WAIT FOR THE WHOLE HOUSE TO FLOOD. She said that they were doing an investigation. An investigation on what?
I have video, photos and a paid invoice from a licensed and bonded contractor who gave me a reasonable price. I plan on suing this company. My attorney is getting the paperwork to file. PLEASE STAY AWAY! And they have no idea what they got themselves into with me. I will not go away, like I'm sure thousands of others have in the past. I'm positive that they will not respond to this review. Go to their Google page. They have removed the area where customers can leave reviews. They don't want you to know how bad of a company they really are. Wait until they hear about themselves on the news, online and in the papers...

Tri Valley microwave repair was assigned to our request to have built in microwave repaired because it was turning off before time requested was completed. First appointment was cancelled by Tri Valley when they indicated that they had overbooked and scheduled two appointments for the same time. Second appointment was cancelled 1/2 hour before scheduled time because they had car problems. Contractor reset microwave because he said a power outage caused malfunction but microwave malfunctioned 24 hours later. Now microwave wouldn't allow you to set time for heating food. Contractor said he would call the next morning after checking to see if he had the parts to repair the microwave but he never called back despite leaving several messages on his answering machine.

Filed a claim with First American -- the contractor they hired, Expert Appliance, failed to show up or contact us for the scheduled time provided. Instead, he showed up the following day with little to no heads up. Expert Appliance spent a total of 10 mins looking at the fridge before deciding the issue had to do with the inner workings of the drink dispenser (drink and ice dispenser work just fine, the issue is a massively loud knocking noise coming from the very bottom of the fridge).
5 days later I had not heard anything from First American or Expert Appliance, so I called First American -- the representative that attempted to assist me failed to do so as she was not able to get ahold of Expert Appliance for more information. She claimed to have called all contact numbers on file to no avail. The next day First American called me to let me know that the issue was not covered by the warranty (even though the warranty had additional coverage specifically for the refrigerator). I am not an appliance technician, but I am also not comfortable at all with the diagnosis provided. My refrigerator consistently knocks for minutes at a time and is extremely loud and unsettling. We are very unhappy with First American Home Warranty - they are crooks to the fullest.

I can honestly say that I gave this company a fair shot hoping that it would be a better choice than the previous company that I dealt with but it was just as bad. I filed a claim for my dishwasher, technician comes out and evaluates the problem, determines that two parts need to be replaced, leaves and tells me that someone will be in touch with me. One week goes by and I receive one of two parts. I call the technician to make them aware and they tell me that the warranty company informed them that the second part is on back order. OK.
Another two weeks go by and I didn't receive a call from neither the technician nor the warranty company. I call the warranty company on week number 4 to get an update and the rep that I spoke to says that the part was scheduled to arrive that weekend. I called the technician the following week and they say that they never received it. I call the warranty company again and speak to a different rep and well it's been over 8 weeks now, 5 representatives and one supervisor later and the issue has still not been resolved. At one point they even assured me that if the part was not available by set date they would replace the whole dishwasher.... That was supposed to happen over a week ago.
This has been a VERY frustrating experience and the fact that every time I speak to a rep they assure me that they will call me back with an update and have not done it ONCE is insulting. They also assured me that they would refund my $75 service fee but that hasn't happened either. They're either lying to me or their processes are incredibly slow and inefficient.
The problem with these home warranty companies is that they only purchase parts from a handful of handpicked suppliers and if they don't have that part available then they won't purchase it from anywhere else. I had the same issue with another home warranty company. So if you AC goes out in the middle of the summer and the part needed is not available through one of their suppliers and won't be available for 8 weeks then guess what? It's going to be a long summer. It's not right. There should be a time frame that should not be exceeded but I'm pretty sure their isn't. It is what is I guess.
Do yourself a favor. Take those $40 a month and place them in an emergency savings account just in case something those break but don't just it give it away to companies like these that really don't care how long you have to wait for your appliance to be repaired. I was told that the part needed to fix my appliance will be here this week Wednesday.... Lol. Yeah ok.

Very dependable and helpful in solving our issues within a timely manner. We had issues with the timing of an appointment with the original contractor but once I contacted First American a new contractor was assigned. The new contract set a timely appointment and our hot water heater was repaired.

We have been waiting on someone to install our dishwasher for 3 weeks and no one has came around or called. Also someone came and looked at the AC, no word since then. Now the temperature is getting warm and it’s hard to sleep at night. I worked in customer service before becoming a first responder but I still show great customer service to those who call me for help. I am typing this for help in these issue we have came about since we bought the house 6 months ago.

I spoke with support and was told that my repair was covered. After a confirmation that it was covered I booked online and paid the $75 fee upfront. When the repair person came out he confirmed it was NOT covered. Not only did I need to cover the repair 100% out of pocket, but I also lost the $75 service fee because he was sent out by the warranty company. If I had been told upfront that it was not covered I would have proceeded differently.

Good value and reasonably timely. Would like to see contractor response time reduced to 24 hours. Particularly important when failure puts heater out in winter or a/c out in summer. Plumbing failures are also critical and need to be addressed faster.

I called the company to ask for a refund of the money I paid to the company I found to fix or replace my garbage disposal, as I was told to do so because the person they found could not go so far. The representative was very nice and helpful and after I sent her the invoice she said it was going to be taken care. I will be waiting for everything to go good and fast.

I was very satisfied with First American. I had a claim for a capacitor for my air conditioner and they were very prompt, and I was pleased with it. So, I renewed the service. I was very lucky on the second claim. My pool service had never backwashed my pool pump. If they did, it wasn't in a timely manner, and it ruined the whole thing. But First American replaced the whole system, the grid and the housing. The contractors were very personable and knowledgeable and they did things in a timely manner. I've had nothing but good experiences. I've talked to other people that have been affiliated with their company that have been very dissatisfied. There were a bunch of horror stories, but I was very fortunate.
People need to look through a warranty with a fine-toothed comb and see what will be paid for and what won't. With the pool, First American does everything that is above ground. They do not have anything to do with the pipes and stuff that are underground, and I do have the premium package so I've covered on a lot of different things. The fact that I had a good experience the very first time, I was willing to do it again. I've been pleased with it because the things that I was going to have to replace, the premium paid what it would have cost for me to outright buy it and replace it.

I deal with home warranty companies every week in my profession and this is by far the worst company I've ever dealt with. Their customer service is non existent, wait times on hold over an hour even with extension to supervisor, no notes taken so no one knows what is going on with acct, have been on hold for over 4 hours this wk with 3 supervisors and still no resolution. 45 days expected for a dishwasher part and stove ticket was closed out by vendor but wasnt even fixed. Absolutely the most frustration clown show of a business ever dealt with. Will never let one of my clients get a home warranty from them. So many good companies out there to pick from with great quick service.

Going on 6 weeks to get my oven range replaced. In my contract they list up to $3500 replacement value with similar features or issue a check. Dozens of phone calls and getting nowhere. Just filed a claim with BBB. Hoping for a resolution. They certainly are keeping my monthly checks for my warranty plan!!

The seller of the condo that we bought had purchased the home warranty through First American, and so we've just been turning in some things that were deficient with the condominium. We found problems since we’ve moved in. Everything's been good so far. We had a problem with the garbage disposal and that got fixed rather quickly. The guy came out and said he wouldn't be able to repair it so he had to replace it. He replaced it very quickly. I was really pleased with that guy because he was pushing up against the window where the store was going to be closed where he had to buy the garbage disposal from, and he went and got one, made it there right before they closed, and then came back six o'clock in the evening and installed it. So, I was pretty happy about that.
We did have some issues with the refrigerator. That was another experience we had and initially, it took a while to get the guy from Sears out. Then when he came out, he said he'd have to order parts so he ordered some parts and then he came back about a week later to install them. He installed them, and this is a condo where we're not there all the time. It's a second residence for us. He said he had everything fixed. Then when we got back to the condo, it obviously wasn't fixed because the icemaker wasn't making ice and the freezer still wasn't freezing anything. We had to throw food out that was in the refrigerator because it had gone bad.
We had to get the second guy to come out, and he said the compressor was bad. The refrigerator was completely different than what the first guy fixed. He was going to turn the information in to First American. The decision that First American made was to go ahead and replace it, but it took a couple of weeks to get that guy to come out to be able to see what was wrong. When he came out, it probably took two more weeks before they could finally get somebody and replace the refrigerator. We were without a working refrigerator for the first two months of being in a condo and we were having to buy two bags of ice a day and try to keep our food from spoiling and try to ice things down. So, it was a little bit of a pain there. But that was our only negative experience with them in the long run. They replaced the refrigerator for us, which was nice.
In the long run, I was pleased with the service that we've gotten. If I was recommending the thing, I would tell somebody to be patient and that things don't happen right away. But that's all part of the process. The refrigerator was a little bit aggravating because my wife was ready to just throw the thing out in the parking lot and go buy another one, but I'm glad we waited because they eventually replaced it. But two months without a working refrigerator is kind of bad. It was cool but it wasn't keeping things cold.

I use First American for both of my homes, and I've been very satisfied with the work. I have had First American for several years now, and it's very easy to submit a claim. I submit all of my claims online. It takes a couple minutes. The responses from the contractors are really quick. On the website, it says that they have from 24 to 48 hours to contact you. But in most situations, it's been 24 hours. The only thing is if I needed to call customer service, it always seems like it's a long wait. Even before the pandemic, it seems like the time to hold is very long and that can be frustrating.

We just renewed First American for the second year. My biggest frustration is that there's one phone number for everything. Even on the website, there's no way to contact someone or email someone. The only way to do it is the phone number, which is ridiculous. I have had wait times of an hour or more, and I've gotten hung up on, and then I've had to call back and wait another hour to get through to somebody. I found it terribly frustrating. But the dashboard itself online is good. For the most part, it's a pretty good system to be able to contact and file a claim and then get somebody assigned to it. I do think it's a helpful coverage to have when you're buying a home.

I've attempted two get two repairs done. For both, the chosen contractor is impossible to get ahold of. One literally has their phone disconnected, and never called me, the other set up a service appointment, ordered a part, and it's been three weeks. I tried calling the contractor, at 10, on a Tuesday...no one answering. We'll see if they call back. Want to talk to First American to try and get them to do something? Good luck; contact is by phone only (no email support), and there is an extremely long queue. No callback system in place. Just pay out of pocket; save yourself the hassle.

A little more prompt service would be really nice. Sometimes, it takes a little longer for scheduling. Some contractors don't call. I've had at least a dozen claims and out of those, three or four took three weeks or more to call but the rest of them were not bad. About 50% of the time, they're prompt and they call within a week.
One bad experience I had was with an intractable issue with the breakers that kept tripping. Two different people came and they couldn't solve it. Then, a third person came and he solved it. Apparently, they call him when other people cannot fix things. Another one was with my sump pump that was just logging water. The tech came and he said he'll get a new pump. Then, he was gone for two or three months and I had to call back First American. But apart from these two, the rest of the claims were fine.

Hello, I am relieved to finally have gotten to the best person to help me at First American, Dalia, and the person who followed through with phone calls to plumbers and electricians, who had attended the home visits since November 2020. She then arranged for a plumber to view the issue who showed up the next day and then followed up with a phone call the following day. THREE DAYS of finding a solution with two options.

I'm so baffled. I made a claim November 17, 2020, for a two year old broken hot water on demand heater, which is for our laundry and a main bathroom. Today, I'm on hold for around the seventh time in four months, awaiting customer service to explain why it has taken, two plumbers and an electrician out to view and confirm this tankless hot water product does not work, needs replacing, yet, here it is, February 8, 2021, with no hot water.
Customer service is not helpful, they just listen, note things, then crickets for weeks, followed by a letter stating our November 17, 2020 claim has not been concluded, resolution may not be done within the 30 days for a conclusion. HAHAHA!! Nor nearly four months. As I write this note, 35+ minutes into being on hold, after a litany of automated questions pertaining to nothing to do with me since this is not a new claim,... I'm now being transferred to Claims Resolution Department, "option 2" waiting for the next step. Let's hope this is resolved before I need to do a phase two rating. Now talking with the Claims Resolution person, she wants to send another plumber out to see what the problem is, they know what the problem is, but somehow no one is able to submit the issues to then solve the problem, aka, replace the tankless hot water heater.

Recently, we had a hot water claim to First American and it was really smooth. It also was because of the contractor that came out. They were fantastic. But there have been a few contractors that have been horrible to work with. When they get assigned to me, I cringe and I call and I ask if I can switch, and they would say I couldn't. If there was more flexibility around that, that would be great. Also, First American should identify those contractors and try to find other ones that are meeting everyone's needs.
First American had told me that I had to go through the whole process of still working with this company, even though it took six months because I couldn't request not to have them as a contractor. I had to go through the process, and then I could say I no longer want to have them. It was frustrating to go through somebody that didn't respond, then I would call back. I was dealing with not having a washer for a long period of time because of contractors.
As far as the team at First American, the customer service depends on who you get. It's hard because the hold time is so long. Every time I have to call in, I know it's gonna take at least an hour. That process is annoying. They tried to help and work with me, but I feel like their hands are tied because it's based on the contractor that is servicing. If they're not responsive to them, then it's a big delay.

Doing claims with First American Home Warranty has been fairly simple. They fixed my refrigerator, and I have to give them a call right now to let them know that it wasn't fixed properly. It's the second time that someone has been out to try to fix it. It was a different company. I'm gonna get to the point where if they can't fix it, we need to replace it. So, I'm gonna have that conversation with them next. I've had a previous claim for a leaky showerhead that they fixed with no problems, and then they fixed a microwave. First American has been fairly easy to deal with.

I've done claims to First American Home Warranty several times. The most recent was to fix the oven and one of the burners on my electric stove. The claim process was extremely easy. The technician was very polite, friendly and very instructional. He taught me what the process was in a very simple way. He had to order some parts. This is an older model, so it took a little while to get them in. But by the time he left our home, the parts were ordered and had a delivery date of parts. Then everything was scheduled on time. First American has been a great service. I’ve taken the opportunity to use them as needed, and it’s never been an issue.

I called in my claim with First American. It was successful. My dryer quit working. The serviceman that came out said I had to get a new one because the motor burned. I did get a new dryer. Everything went smooth, except I didn't know it until after the servicemen installed the dryer, but the dryer opens the wrong way. It opens to the right and the dryer is on the left side of my washer. But other than that, everything is fine. The dryer works good. It's just a little hard getting the clothes out. I'm satisfied with home warranty.

First American was the most polite and helpful, and the ones that answered the questions most effectively for me. I submit my claim online. Then, I get contacted by the company, usually by email because that's my preference, to let me know that they have assigned my claim to a subcontractor. The subcontractor then calls me and sets an appointment. They were right on time when they showed up. My ice maker had to be replaced. They contacted the company for me while I was right there with them to let them know that it wasn’t something that was repairable. Within two weeks, I had my new appliance. I’m highly impressed. The last one was Sears. So, it wasn’t some no-name company that was sent to deal with it. Just the peace of mind knowing that I've got the warranty makes me feel a lot better. It is the best $55 a month I spend.

Submitting claims has always been easy and pretty straightforward, although sometimes the technicians that First American sends out don't seem to know what they're doing. We just had a claim for our dishwasher and the contractor came out quickly. But the man who came to my house didn't speak very much English. When I asked him about the dishwasher, all he could say to me was that it's broken. I wish I could have talked to the person. That has been consistent with the people that have come to my house from First American. The communication is really lacking but I can't really complain because they fix the problem eventually.

Please don't waste your money and time... It's more than a month that I'm waiting for pump that they should purchase. They have assigned a nonresponsive contractor which doesn't have a good reputation. My pool cleaning company said that I have to drain the pool and fill with new water just because of these guys. I will proceed with legal action against them.

I have been with First American for 15 yrs. Only had two concerns which were quickly corrected. I think the monthly cost at this time is well worth for the services that you get. Choices of Service workers have been very good with exception of a couple and adjustments were made to my satisfaction.

Our refrigerator was just repaired. Had to order a part and after it came in it only took a short time to repair it. Repair man was quick and was a nicer person very polite. Wore his mask and was very sanitary the way he handled things.
