My adjuster Bryan ** was absolutely amazing. He was compassionate, efficient and detailed. He kept me in the loop every step of the way and the turn around time was very quick. Overall the experience was top tier. The online form was easy to use while submitting my claim and the link sent for claim payout was very efficient.

Everything was handled in a timely manner and I was satisfied with the Adjuster's final decision. I didn't have any issues with the Assurant agent. I was quite satisfied with all the detail work that they did. It was an excellent performance. I will recommend them to anyone. They made it a great experience and easy.

I have had vandalism and probably stolen to my home. I have called insurance. They have made me three separate claims and neither claim has been paid at all and I have coverage. I wouldn't recommend this company for Renters Insurance.

Your site is easy to navigate. Information/questions, were in a format that helps the consumer to state reasons for why they are filing the claim. Plus pictures uploaded at a quick rate. Talking to a Assurant representative over the phone was very helpful and efficient in getting the process started.

Joshua, my adjuster, was very attentive & responsive. He was very clear about the process and guided me through the stages and necessary paperwork. THEY DO NOT PAY CLAIMS IN FULL! My car was stolen in July 2023. It is now October 2023 and I have been trying to be reimbursed for several items that were in my car when it was stolen. The claims adjuster has given me nothing but the runaround, even though I have submitted everything that they have asked for, I submitted, police reports, photos of items and an explanation of what has happened, and since the items on the amended police report were "Apple" products I needed original receipts. I do not have original receipts as the items were at least two years old. I pay for this entire policy, including replacement cost only to be told they will not pay unless I submit original receipts. Maddening! Their VP made $1,200,000 last year And I cannot get $895 to reimburse me for my Apple earbuds, wireless keyboard and mouse. Unbelievable.

I have been with Assurant for a decade. I have been blessed to have never needed to file a problem. Knowing that when I need to Assurant will be there to help me is wonderful. It's also very helpful that Assurant sends my apartment manager a copy of my yearly renewal automatically. The way things are going right now, the crazy weather and all the worldwide problems knowing that if anything happened I'm covered by Assurant is very reassuring.

It was very quick and easy to file a claim. Response time from our adjuster, Chanel, was quick. Any questions we had were answered thoroughly and in a timely manner. There is nothing that I would change about my experience. I am very happy to continue my policy with Assurant.

Assurant rental insurance has been very beneficial and helpful during this time of crisis for me and my family. My Assurant claims manager Ashlyn has been very very kind, very understanding, very patient and helpful through my claims process. I have told everyone I talked to always make sure they buy renters insurance and before I never had renter's insurance. I would have been completely out of luck and not a chance to regain the things I lost or the opportunity to put money towards first and last month’s rent into a new place to live. I highly recommend Assurant rental insurance to everyone I talk to and my claims agent has been great to me throughout the process. Very Satisfied customer and highly recommended everyone to have renters’ insurance and it has greatly improved my eligibility with finding rentals to move into.

Easy access online as well as quick signup. It's very easy to understand each section when creating your insurance policy to fit all your specific family needs to make sure everyone is covered in case of an issue. There is specific sections for pets as well as personal belongings and more expensive items which is perfect.

This is the worst renter's insurance company I have ever used. Their customer service is so deplorable it is offensive. I filed a claim in June 2022 and promptly submitted ALL extensive, required documentation. I have never received any updated information on the status of my claim since then, despite MULTIPLE attempts to contact them through various channels.
I have written emails, left voicemails, and called numerous times to the open customer service line with NO RESPONSE. For example, I just called to follow up on my claim and after multiple attempts to reach someone on the line and leaving a voicemail I finally found a customer service agent to answer my call. She answered and I gave her my claim number and then she immediately placed me on a hold for 15 MINUTES and never returned and then the call abruptly ended. They are giving me such a run around it is despicable. Meanwhile I have been diligently paying my $16/month policy for the past year and half ($256 dollars) to receive NO SUPPORT AND NO ANSWERS and to be treated like this. I am convinced this company is a sham and a scam robbing vulnerable people of their money and I demand a refund. DO NOT TRUST THIS COMPANY. There are much safer and more reliable alternatives.

You are the absolutely worst company to ever deal with. I’ve been waiting almost a year to have my claim processed after someone stole all of my belongings from my storage unit in the process of moving. Everything was ok until it was time to pay my claim and your unprofessional agents ghosted me. If you go online, you will see similar complaints of your company doing the same to consumers. It’s truly sickening to see how your company operate and takes advantage of those who are most vulnerable after suffering a loss. I will make it my mission to shine a light on your company’s nefarious practices and unprofessional behavior. Anyone reading this, please consider another dependable insurance company. Do your research & read the plethora of similar complaints before signing up with Assurant (American Bankers Insurance Company of Florida).

Assurant always helps when you need help. We are not current home owners, we rent. We are always at the mercy of the property manager and sometimes they don’t care about damages caused by their staff or other residents. However, Assurant will help you when those unimaginable damages may occurs. They get you back to a sense of normalcy and respect.

I have policy for my son in college. He was burgled for his musical instruments in Oregon when he moved to a new apartment and we received compensation. His roommates were not insured and they were very sad to lose their instruments. We had wonderful and prompt help from Maria, our claims adjuster. I am very pleased I had an Assurant policy and will get a policy for my daughter too when she moves out from her dorm.

When I was able to get an agent they were extremely helpful. Samantha was assigned over a month into my claim and had it resolved in about 2 days. I am so thankful for her calls to explain the process and walk me through what to expect next. We were also given an option for immediate payment via direct deposit into our bank account.

If you buy this renters insurance I let you know by experience they don’t cover mold remediation actually may not cover anything. This is not right!!! I call explain my case and they said will Be covered and they didn’t.

I called to report water damage that came from my kitchen faucet being broken. Having a claim to file is frustrating, but the process to file the claim was an easy phone call to Assurant. My CSR has been receptive and understanding in explaining the process and what may be covered and not covered under the claim I had to file. I'm still in the midst of my repairs but it helps to have an insurance company that is working along your side.

This was my first time filing a claim. At first I felt as though the process for filing, would be difficult but from the start of filing, the process was made very simple and did not take up a lot of time. In case you would like to share my survey comments with your managers. After struggling to find insurance for my manufactured home, I was led to Assurant by a progressive agent. My call was answered by Rainah ** who was EXTREMELY pleasant and helpful. She went above and beyond to make sure that I had the coverage that I needed. Subsequent phone calls were answered by Janele ** and Neil **. Both of whom also provided EXCELLENT customer service. All of my requests were followed up with emails and or phone calls. You have an outstanding team and I would definitely recommend your company in the future. It is rare to find the level of customer service that your team provided. They were ALL outstanding. My policy is in place and I feel confident that if I ever have a claim that it will be covered with the same level of professionalism that I experienced when I took out the policy.

I failed my claim on 8-9-22. It has been 1 month. I call them every single day and have talked to a actual person 1 time throughout this entire ordeal. They never call back, they never email back. It doesn’t matter how many times I email them requesting assistance. I’ve never gotten a single response from them. If you call it goes straight to voice mail saying you can call their boss with a new extension. That happens 3 times till you make another call that once again goes straight to voicemail and not a single person in the last month has called back or answered the phone since my very first call. Absolutely the worst customer service experience I’ve ever had.

I have had this policy for over 13 years and used it in multiple states because it includes storage facility coverage when I need it. I have never had an issue with the convenience of autopay. It is easy to use the mobile app too! I can highly recommend Assurant Renters for coverage.

In California, we assumed we would never have to deal with a tropical storm (we are more used to wildfires and earthquakes). August of 2023 proved our assumptions wrong! Our claims adjuster Bernice was so personable and empathetic to our situation and explained well what was going to happen so we were prepared. She walked us through the process, kept us informed as things moved forward and sent us documents as needed.

I'm expressing my extreme dissatisfaction with the lack of communication I have experienced from your claim adjuster and manager. Despite numerous attempts to reach them via calls and text messages, I have received limited response whatsoever, leaving my claim unreviewed and incomplete in a timely manner. On 8/11/2023, I reported the theft of my items to your company, and I received a claim number as confirmation. Since then, I have made multiple attempts to contact your claim adjuster and manager, but lack of communication. My calls and texts have gone unanswered several times, leaving me in a state of uncertainty regarding the progress of my claim. Online claim submission process is the simplest and fastest I've ever used after a lifetime of insurance all over the world (I'm a veteran). Most insurance companies make you do it over the phone (only) which takes forever and is endlessly frustrating. Very relieved that this process is so much easier!

Like any other being my first complaint about my property, you handle the process of the claim really quickly. Your help will make it the next time I'm in trouble. A choice that will be easy and satisfying. I am thinking of making more even steps on how the claim has the service that can help me with my needs. If there was a way to give a 0/10 score or 0 stars, then that is what it should be. Assurant needs to get out of the renter's insurance business. Here’s why: My partner and I purchased renters’ insurance through Geico (Assurant) when we moved into a rental in Carmichael, California. We had to file an insurance claim when it was discovered that the home we were staying in had toxic mold. Because it was toxic mold, we had to immediately find a hotel to stay in due to the nature of health concerns related to the mold. We filed the claim on July 13th. A myriad number of documents were needed for the claim to be processed, which we gathered, compiled, and sent to claims advisor Daniel Villalon. They included the mold report, numerous pictures of the damage (as documented by us and the mold inspector), additional living expenses including hotel receipts and grocery receipts, etc.
A check for $2,200 and another for $246 were reportedly mailed out on August 10th. We have been calling for several days to check on its status and have been unable to reach anyone – original Claims Advisor Daniel Villalon, administrative support and managerial staff, etc. Come to find out, much of Assurant’s administrative and management structure works remotely from foreign and international locations. There is no direct extension to reach anyone, so claims questions, issues, and concerns go through a long and winding slow response loop before being addressed, if they are addressed at all.
A support representative FINALLY got back to us, where it was revealed that they sent the check to the WRONG ADDRESS. Where they got that wrong address is totally unacceptable to us because we had relayed to them the correct and proper address in previous correspondence. The rep said they could send a link out to get funds direct deposited. It would take the link a couple of days to come and the direct deposit another few days to be processed. THAT IS COMPLETELY UNACCEPTABLE. THAT NEEDS TO HAPPEN WITHIN 24 HOURS. The insurance payment is needed to cover the funds that have been drained by hotel stays/living expenses and would also go toward monies in lieu of moving to another residence. Assurant’s communication is POOR and its aloof service merits this rating as ZERO STARS and a 0/10 rating.

I called Assurant Inc. and the representative was extremely nice and knowledgeable. The representative treated me as a customer that was needed, not like other places that treat you like you're bothering them, or that you as a customer aren't needed. Although I have never needed to file a claim, I would still recommend Assurant for all your insurance needs solely on the fact of their extremely great employees and customer service that isn't overseas.

Let me tell you they have changed for the better. They have new adjusters who listen to your concerns, answer all your questions, they take time with you and make sure you understand the process. My condo was flooded last September due to malfunction of washer on the top floor. Assurant covered the water damage. The original assessment from Assurant adjuster was only around $15000. I hired a contractor to assess the damage and it was $16500. The restoration contractor's quote was to repair the flooring and carpet with color matched material. It was very difficult to find matched carpet and flooring. Long story in short, the first contractor did not finish the job because he claimed that he can not find matched material for the flooring. I ended up hiring second contractor to finish the work with the material I purchased at Floor & Decor.
After more than 7 months ordeals with contractors trying to repair the damage, I finally was able to submit completed pictures and repair receipt to Assurant to ask for the "Recoverable Depreciation" of $1554.99. Now the adjuster refused to pay me the "Recoverable Depreciation" because I did not provide him the original amount of receipt of $16500 from my first contractor. I certainly don't have that receipt of $16500 because the first contractor did not finish the work as proposed.
In addition, Assurant has not paid the asbestos inspection fee to the company who did the work. Now the Asbestor company ask me to pay them the bill in the amount of $829.30 for asbestor inspection. I don't think I am responsible for that cost. They tried to bill Assurant many times through emails but the emails got rejected. I forwarded their bill to Assurant which was not rejected but the payment has not been made according to the asbestos inspector. Assurant is very unresponsive to emails and phone calls. I will have to file a case in court to recover the cost. I do not recommend Assurant.

We have faced no troubles as yet. We never had to use it. Although we thought the price was slightly higher compared to others, we still renewed it as the difference was not super significant. And I am Geico car insurance. So it is easier to look up in my app account.

A waterline ruptured in the hallway restroom early in the a.m., that left water throughout about ankle-deep. Luckily, I was able to turn the valve off and called the Landlord seeking help. Downhill from there! I contacted the Insurance and filed a claim. It has been like pulling teeth to get a phone call returned, promises made and still no results. I found out from not hearing back from them, and calling them, that they had stopped working on the claim because of a comment made from the landlord. Finally, even after sending out an adjuster, it is back to me being aggressive with the calling. It's been almost 2 months now. I'm glad I didn't spend money on a hotel, of which I would have been out of that money also. I would not have thought this would happen and especially from an affiliated company of GEICO.

Stay away from Assurant Renters Insurance. Customer service is the worst. I have submitted a claim and still have not gotten any updates on what do next. Still waiting to hear back from my adjuster. I had called several times. Straight to voicemail. Also to her manager. Still no answer. Wrote several emails, submitted documents and still no response as my apartment complex told me to evacuate due to water leakage in my unit. I am very devastated and disappointed that I have been left in the dark with Assurant as I have no money to pay out of pocket after paying my rent and I have nowhere to go. They left me in the unknown. Do not go with Assurant as you will not get a response from them.

The site was easy to navigate and directly linked from the Naya housing portal which made the experience smooth. I didn't have to hunt for the best insurance option. It was easy to choose the right rental insurance plan which met the requirements and then make adjustments. Payment plan selection was also easy to understand to choose from. Had a problem a couple of years back when my condo was practically destroyed by the tenants. Assurance was very diligent and we were able to fix the apartment without major delays. I decided to take this insurance because this is a rental property and I wanted to be protected tin case damages were caused by tenants. I was lucky that I did.

My experience was very accommodating being able to do everything online and easy to maneuver requirements with the prompts. It also makes it easy with the phone number access to call for help or assistance if needed. If needed would have called but everything was accessible that was needed online.. Should have different options for amount months renting available.

I am writing this review to express my dissatisfaction with Assurant's renter's insurance customer service. I filed a claim in March 2023 after my truck was stolen. I provided all of the required documentation, including a police report, a list of stolen items, and receipts. However, I have not heard back from Assurant since then. I have called and emailed several times, but I have not been able to get through to anyone or receive an update on my claim.
I am extremely frustrated with Assurant's lack of transparency, help, and willingness to communicate. I have been unable to get any information about the status of my claim, and I do not know when I will be compensated for my losses. I am highly dissatisfied with Assurant's customer service, and I would not recommend their renters insurance to anyone.
I would like to see Assurant improve their customer service by:Providing more transparency about the status of claims.
Being more responsive to customer inquiries.
Making it easier to get in touch with a representative.
I hope that Assurant will take my feedback seriously and make some changes to their customer service policies. I would like to be able to trust that my insurance company will be there for me when I need them, and Assurant has not given me that confidence. In the meantime, I would advise anyone considering Assurant renters insurance to think twice. There are other companies out there that offer better customer service.

I was quite terse with my claims agent yet she stayed with me and conducted herself in a professional manner. I later apologized as I haven't had file a claim in over 15 years and didn't know the procedure. Your 7x24 phone number was not available. I received a voicemail telling me to call back on Monday. I had to go through Progressive to get a claims agent number of a call center contact who (I believe she said she was on Cuba). Very nice lady. Help me a lot.

The only problem that I had with my policy was that a notice was sent to my management indicating my policy was cancelled when it was actually renewed. Otherwise, I have no complaints. No problems with my policy. I would recommend Assurant to others for their insurance needs.

I switched to Assurant because they offered me a cheaper rate than my previous insurance. The weather has been off lately with storm coming out of nowhere. Back in May we had a Thunderstorm come through, and the resulting power outage, damaged my computer and Playstation. I took them to get repaired, costing me over $2000. I filed the claim online, which was a simple process, and attached all the documents. I didn't hear anything from the adjuster for over 2 weeks. I finally called, and she was very rude and provided little information. It has now been a month, and still no update on my claim. This has been the worst experience ever.

Updated on 06/16/2023: Supervisor said claim denied because duplex on fire was over 100 feet from ours. I told him that was not true and he said I was wrong. In the photo the red lines are the distance between our duplex (the window is front bedroom) and the duplex that was on fire. It’s about 8 ft. It’s not over 100 feet.
Updated 06/15/2023: See my previous comment, after 7 months I received a phone call today; I received a phone call from Teresa a claim rep today. She told me Assurant received the fire report in November and that they had everything in November. She told me they had everything to pay my claim and she didn’t know why they didn’t. We were on the phone for 30 mins. Teresa said should be covered for the smoke damage. She said she needed approval from her manager. She got my hopes up only to call and say Assurant is denying my claim. That is mentally cruel what you did to me! If you were going to deny it why wasn’t it denied in November?
Original Review: October 2022 the duplex next to us had a huge house fire. We were evacuated because the wind was blowing the fire in the direction of our duplex and they felt the fire was going to engulf our duplex. Firefighters were able to keep the fire from spreading to our place by using a lot of water which leaked into our home via the built in air conditioner holder and the air conditioner itself soaking part of the carpet which we did not immediately notice because we were traumatized and in complete shock and were dealing with smoke damage to our personal property in addition to the smoke particles and smoke smell. I am immune compromised and my son has severe asthma. Breathing became more and more difficult.
Initially we did not realize water came into our home and when we did mold had starting growing. My first priority was to secure a safe place for me and my son to move to. Our furniture and clothes and everything we owned was contaminated by smoke damage and mold. I filed a claim with Assurant (when I purchased the policy I was led to believe it was Geico insurance, only to find out it’s Assurant and then there is something about a Banker’s company in Florida and some Global P&C, it’s all deceiving in my opinion). On 11/7/22 the adjuster called me and told me a catastrophe team would be contacting me to provide immediate assistance. I never heard from the catastrophe team. I eventually heard from a guy who said he needed to meet with my landlord to inspect the duplex.
Several days later he did looked and agreed everything smelled of smoke and he said he saw the mold. He said Assurant doesn’t like to pay mold claims so he didn’t know if they would cover my claim. I told him the peril stemmed from the neighbor's fire. It was weeks later on 11/14/22 I had a 30 min phone call with Cynthia who said she could see the mold in the pictures I sent her and she said due to the neighbor's fire my loss would be covered. She said they needed a work order. I explained I was not claiming repairs to the duplex itself that I was only claiming personal property damage so there was no work order. She told me to continue sending in pics of our personal property and receipts of purchase.
I spent hours uploading the information they requested and during that time Stephanie sends me a letter saying she is handling my claim. I speak on the phone to hear and she was just mean and she laughed at me. She told me to stop sending in receipts and pictures. She said she wasn’t sure if they would pay my claim and I haven’t received a phone call or letter or email since. Assurant hasn’t paid a penny to me, they haven’t send me any letter providing status either. I’ve been very ill and have had my hands full trying to recover and trying my best to replace what I can when I can on my own because losing just about everything has put me in financial ruin.
After speaking to to friends and associates and doing some research, I am entitled to the coverage I paid for. I went online to check status and it showed my claim was closed 11/5/22! So they had me provide with photos, receipts, etc. even though they closed the claim 11/5/22. They never told me they closed my claim, they never gave me a reason for closing it. So many things are not right. I will be pursuing my claim and any action necessary.

My apt. building had a fire that destroyed the electrical system. There was no damage to my unit, but all residents had to leave and find other lodging for 6 mos. before we could return. The expenses I incurred were under "loss of use coverage." The claim I filed was handled by a banking co. in Florida. The first claims rep. was excellent. Before I could submit the necessary forms my claim was transferred to another agent. This is where the problems began. My first contact led me to think this agent was new and not well informed, saying she would have to consult her supervisor for basic questions I was asking. Subsequent phone calls went unanswered. They never answered their phones and would not return calls when I left messages.
The agent's outgoing message gave the number of her supervisor to call, but he never answered his phone or returned calls. I had submitted forms for reimbursement to a location in South Carolina, but never received an acknowledgement. This failure to respond to my claim led me to file a complaint with my state's insurance commission. The commission sent a letter to this Florida organization which got their attention. I received calls from two of these people and then another call from a third person who took charge of the matter and apologized for the situation. She professed not to understand why this situation was allowed to develop. I later submitted an additional form for some modest additional expenses, but never heard a word. I didn't pursue the matter because the policy was coming due for renewal and I had no intention of doing that. This experience led me to find future coverage with another insurance company.

Renewal is automatic with a preview of policy and cost prior to renewal so you can cancel or make adjustments. It is easy to read and adjust. They have this policy along with my car insurance on the GEICO app so I have it at my fingertips.

1). GOOD!! Never had to use my Assurant (GEICO) homeowner policy yet (NO Claims)!! 2). A consumer "NEVER" knows the quality of any insurance policy until they "MUST" file a claim. 3). Had to use my GEICO Auto Policy in 2022 on my first, EVER, "Hit and Run" claim. This is after 27 Years of "NO CLAIMS"!! GEICO has "NO FINANCIAL MERCY" on a "Hit and RUN" claim without a photo of perpetrator's license plate even with COLLISION & Waiver coverage. There's "BIG MONEY" in "HIT & RUNS" today.

Purchasing a renter's insurance policy from Assurant was very easy. However, the point of a policy is to have coverage when there is an issue and this is where my experience went from poor to terrible. We had a water leak in our bathroom. I called Assurant to file a claim (at the same time, the homeowner filed on their policy with Tower Hill). The 2 experiences could not have been more different. Assurant did not send anyone to inspect the damage, no one ever called me, there was communication from their end till I followed up at each stage. I was initially assigned one claims assessor who went on leave for weeks, I was never advised when a new claims assessor was assigned.
I received an email to provide details of the damage with photos which I did promptly. No response for weeks. Then I received a letter after a few weeks stating I hadn't provided the required information so the claim was inactive. When I called, I was told it was the property management company that hadn't provided the information that Assurant had requested directly. But I was never advised they needed anything from the property management company and Assurant refused to share a copy of their letter to the company due to 'confidentiality' reasons - what confidentiality? I'm the policyholder.
Finally, after a lot of back and forth, I was told "we don't believe you are at fault, so we refuse to pay". Just like that. No possibility to escalate. No possibility to request a review. Nothing. I have now moved and I absolutely refuse to do business with Assurant or Geico (I didn't use them for my new place or for my car). As they say, caveat emptor. I hope this review will stop other people making the same mistake I did, which is to blindly trust the Geico brand.

Ultimately, I believe customer surveys should not play any significant role in a performance review. As a customer, I may have my own opinion, but I lack knowledge of the intricate red tape involved in being an employee. The situation could have been handled better, particularly on the part of the manager. Despite leaving a voicemail promising a callback, the manager has yet to contact me, despite my efforts to reach out to multiple individuals for assistance. The process can be quite frustrating, as it requires filling out paperwork, filing a claim, and validating charges with the vendors of the stolen items. However, I do comprehend the necessity of these steps. Nonetheless, the process lacks customer-centricity and is both time-consuming and unpleasant. It appears that this claim will be resolved soon, but I am still in the midst of the process.

I purchased my Renters Insurance through GEICO and ended up with a renters insurance policy through Assurant. I filed a claim with Assurant on 3/10/23 due to my car being broken into and burglarized. The first time I spoke to a customer service agent I was told that the claim process shouldn't take more than 10 days to be paid once I submitted all of the necessary information. I sent everything in by March 27th. Prior to this date I had only received one call from my claims adjuster and could not get through to speak to her for several weeks. Every time I attempted to call I was sent to her voicemail where I would leave a message.
The option that said I could speak to another agent if it were an urgent matter was a joke because it always went to a recording stating that all other agents were busy helping other customers. On the 28th I received an email with a letter attached stating my claim was denied due to nonpayment. It was a mistake from my bank and I paid the balance the next day. The next time I called to check on the progress of my claim a week later I was told my claim was denied from nonpayment again.
For almost a month I could not get a hold of anyone. When I did get through nothing had even been done on my claim. I was then sent another email asking for further information they needed. Information that I had ALREADY sent in on the 27th of March. About two weeks ago I get an email and a call saying that they have switched my adjuster and to give her a call because she needed further information. I honestly don't know how this company is still in business because they are the worst insurance company I have EVER dealt with. 4 days ago I finally was able to get in touch with a live person and they assured me that my agent would be sending me an email letting me know my claim amount and instructions on setting up my direct deposit information to be paid out on my claim. Leary, I waited for the email and of course, it never came.
So 3 days later I was able to get in touch with my actual agent. She really had no answers for me stating that she only received my info 12 days ago when they gave her my claim. She told me she had to find all of my receipts. I told her I would forward everything I had sent to her but she said she could find it. About an hour or so later I got a call back from her asking about my receipts. I am disabled so cannot go shopping by myself and my receipts all have my sister's name on them because we used her club card at Harbor Freight because I didn't have one and didn't care to get one. Needless to say, she said that these weren't my receipts and therefore she could not use them for my claim. I explained to her about the club card and that's why my sister's name was on the receipt but she said they weren't mine several times which really started getting me really mad.
Receipts don't usually have names on them and this should not be an issue. The payment methods used to pay for the merchandise are all in my and my fiance's names which clearly shows we paid for and are the owners of the merchandise purchased. This company will try anything to get out of paying what your things are worth. I also had my Chanel purse stolen which cost 8k dollars when my now deceased grandmother bought it for me for my birthday 10 years ago. I obviously don't have the receipt for that but sent them a copy of my authenticity card. They said this doesn't prove that I owned the purse. I also have photos of the purse but she said neither of those are ways to prove ownership. Strange, because it was my understanding that that is exactly the way one proves ownership of an item when there is not a receipt.
I am at my wit's end with this company and completely frustrated. My fiance has not been able to work since this happened because his tools were stolen and we cannot afford to purchase them until we get our money from this claim. I am on Disability and very ill and have a terminal Illness. This whole process has caused me undo stress from a claim that should have been open and ** because I provided everything they had asked of me. And for them to just now almost two and a half months later say something about the receipts that were sent in on the 27th of March is ludicrous. I just want to be reimbursed for the things stolen from my car.
We aren't asking for anything above and beyond. Just to be paid out from an insurance we have been paying on just in case something like this happens. Anyone reading this I would vehemently advise against ever purchasing ANY TYPE of insurance through Assurant. This whole process has been nothing but a nightmare and has caused unneeded stress and emotional turmoil for me having to deal with such scandalous individuals. I am hoping that through this I may finally be paid out on my claim. And paid out on the actual cost of the items and not 50% reduction for the few items I don't have a receipt for. While I understand that this agent just got my claim it had been 12 days since she received my info when I last spoke to her.
I ended up hanging up on her because she was getting me too upset and my blood pressure was too high that I had to take medication that I hadn’t had to take in over 3 months. This whole situation has left me completely frustrated and angry. I have not heard back from them since and it's been over 4 days. I have documentation to back up everything I have stated here is true. I just checked my email and discovered an email sent on May 17th with a letter attached asking for me to send in a copy of my lease, the police report, which they supposedly already have a copy of, pictures of the damage, and proof of ownership for the items listed in my claim.
It goes on further to say that beginning from the date of this letter March 17th I have 14 days to submit this information and if the requested documents are not received by June 1st that my claim will be closed with no payment made to me. It has been 2 and a half months since I filed and sent them everything they requested until this letter now asking me for my id and other things. Why didn’t they ask for this stuff previously. I am doubtful and very upset that I may be ripped off by this insurance company that is supposed to be there for me and make things better in my time of need. All they have done is made my health deteriorate because of all the stress they have caused me.
I have documentation to back up everything I have said here and can provide that if necessary. Here is a timeline of these events: Timeline of events:3/5/23- Filed police report about car being broken into.
3/6-9/2023- Got together all of my receipts and necessary information to file my insurance claim.
3/10/23- File claim with Assurant.
3/11/23- Attempted several times to enter the information on Assurant's website about the claim. I tried 3 times to enter the information but every time the site would start to glitch and slow down to where it was difficult to enter all of the items that has been stolen.
3/10 - Received an email stating my claim was opened and asking for information3/14/23 - I sent all of the information they requested over 4 separate emails because it was too large to send all of my receipts on one email.
3/21/23 - We received an email with a letter attached asking for all of the information that I had already sent in on March 14th.
3/22/23 - We received an email stating that our claim was being denied due to nonpayment from the bank for the check.
3/25/23 - I sent an email letting them know it had been a misunderstanding and that the payment has now been processed and our policy was still valid and to please continue with our claim.
3/27/23 - Received yet another email saying that further information was required for the claim to be processed. This was all information that had been previously submitted on March 14th via email and a spreadsheet I made with the same information they requested on their website that I was unable to use because it kept glitching. I had already sent emails and made Phone calls letting them know this.3/27 - I filled out the paperwork again and sent it in anyway with the list of stolen items I had previously submitted. In this email, I also submitted proof of ownership of my Chanel purse as requested in the form of the Authentication card that came with my purse.
5/4/23 - We received an email with a letter attached stating that Maria ** was now our claims adjuster.
5/5/23 - Received message from Maria asking about the police report. She stated that they were still waiting for a copy of it and also advised me that only items that were listed on the actual police report would be covered under our policy. Jennifer had told us she was ordering the report and we didn’t have to get a copy unless we wanted one for our records or if we thought we could get it sooner. I called the records department and they told me that since the insurance company already ordered a copy that they would get it faster and I would be put into a queue that would take some time. So I didn’t order a copy.
5/5/23 - I sent an email to the officer that took my police report and sent her the same list that had been submitted with the insurance claim just to make sure they were the same. She emailed me back to let me know she had attached the copy of stolen items to the police report. I had cc’d Assurant on the email exchange so they would see it was done.5/17/2023 - Received an email with a letter attached stating that they needed a copy of my ID, lease agreement, photos of the damage, and all receipts for the property I listed in my claim.
5/22/23 - At my wit's end and completely frustrated I am filing this complaint in hopes that I will finally get my claim processed and issued payment for my stolen belongings.

Easy to follow throughout the application and had an instant quote to review and purchase. Other companies give you the runaround and hound you on the phone. Assurant was there if I needed them but I was able to do it all online without interruption.

Due to a windstorm several of my electronic devices were damaged. Including TV, Roku and cable box. I was glad that I'm using Assurant. It was really easy to create my claim and add photos. The claim processing was fast and I was notified about the status until It was approved. I was able to communicate using phone and email.

I hope I never need to use any kind of insurance; but, I at least know that it’s my self-invested guarantee of safety. The feeling of kicking yourself after the fact is mortifying. If we have something to protect, we should have insurance. Overall, with Assurant, I like the low rates and having names I know watching out for me. To me, tried and true is a great confidence builder!

Updated on 05/24/2023: I spoke to my adjuster expressing my frustration… I was laughed at several times .. today I get two missed calls .. I return the call only to be told they don’t know who called me or for what and it must have been an accident ..An hour later I received an email from a senior investigator advising that my adjuster would again be requesting additional information .. They have pictures, receipts for ownership, police report listing items, drivers license, my lease, yet every few days they pop up wanting more more more .. at this point I believe it’s best to retain legal council .. a break in this traumatizing event and to have an insurance company laugh at you has been playing with my mental .. the calls are recorded.. I wish I read the reviews prior.
Updated on 05/22/2023: So After 4 weeks of uploading documents after document.. picture after picture.. they still reach out asking for more documents that could have been asked for in the beginning .. You wait 4 weeks to then ask me for my ID and lease agreement? That is backwards .. Seems they are intentionally delaying the claim .. They continue to say they are investigating and reviewing .. How long does it take to investigate a picture? This is the worst experience ever .. These people are playing games with their customers .. I have plenty of friends still in insurance and I know several claims adjusters. They are all saying the same thing. This is a joke.

You asked for the police report 5/3 and I updated you within the hour that it would be ready on Friday.. Friday 5/5 came I texted at 10:49 am. No response. I went to the police station and obtained a copy of the report per your request and uploaded. Sent it in.. There was no confirmation of receipt.. I texted at 1:09pm. No response.. I called for hours. Finally reached my adjuster and spoke briefly and you seemed irritated that I requested an update. Your updated was that there were other people in front of me and that you had to do an investigation. I have been calling, texting the number you provided and still have been unable to reach you regarding this matter..
I worked in insurance for many years (Car, Medical, and Travel). I have dealt with other insurance companies. Domestically and internationally.. Communication was always there at any given time. Individuals could call and speak to someone.. There was never a time a claims team advised a customer that they had other cases in front of them, imagine a doctor telling you, "Oh I have other patients. Wait your turn.." This is customer service.. I am a victim.. I have read several reviews online and it seems this is a pattern and I’m starting to believe my calls are being screened to not be answered.. There is no way I can’t reach anybody in the claims department. That is ridiculous..
This morning I called from a different number and spoke to a rep and waited 1 hour and 21 minutes only to keep being told that you’re on a call?.. The rep then advised that my claim is under review and you have to contact all the stores on the receipt to see if I actually purchased my items? Receipts with my name?Pictures? Did I magically fabricate these items.. The police are already not doing anything now to have my insurance in the same boat is just crazy.. This has to be a joke. It’s now 5/12.

I honestly have not had a recent transaction with Assurant; however, I do love my prices and I like that I receive a discount for having automobile insurance and bundling the car insurance and the rental insurance with Geico! I would not use any other insurance than Geico!

I purchased renters insurance through Geico and had to file a renters insurance claim. Only to be transferred over to Assurant renters insurance. 0/10 does not recommend. I am currently in search of an attorney to assist me with my theft claim. I filed a theft claim on March 29th, from an accident on March 28th. I had to initially reach out to my adjuster, because no one reached out to me within 3 days as the website and customer representatives claimed, to go over submitted documents. Ever since I have spoken with my adjuster that one time, I have been calling her, her managers, and even the senior manager only to get their voicemails.
Every time she do reach out by text or by mail she is asking for more ridiculous receipts, such as a letter from my commanding officer in order to be reimbursed for my military uniforms and boots that were also stolen. After, I have already proven to be a service member and have even sent in pictures of myself in uniform. She keeps asking for me things only buy more time and possibly try to deny the claim. I will also be filing a complaint with insurance commissioner's office, because I feel as if I am being scammed at this point. STAY AWAY FROM GEICO/ASSURANT RENTERS INSURANCE!!!

I made a claim on 4/9/23 after a leak in my bathroom flooded my entire house and garage. It took nearly a week for an adjuster to contact me. The team of David, Robert and Victoria have been absolutely useless. They do not return phone calls or emails. My claim was supposed to be finished and David was supposed to call me on Friday, 5/5/23. Guess what, no call. Actually, I still haven't heard from him and it's Tuesday afternoon. I went ahead and filed a complaint with the insurance commissioner's office. I suggest others do the same. This company should NOT be in business.

Excellent customer service. Claims adjuster was clear on the procedures to file the claim and to get a technician out to quote/fix the unit. The adjuster called after sending in the quote from the technician at the company I chose. He asked a few questions and then sent me the overpayment of my deductible. This process only took 5 days from start to finish after filing the claim, get the unit repaired and finish the paperwork.

Cracked and overflowed pan, but was caught in time to prevent damage to the house. Had it not been seen there would have been extensive damage to the kitchen area of our home. The water heater is in an alcove just off the kitchen.

When I actually had to use them for a claim I would leave several voice-mail and they would never return my call. On top of that, I sent several emails to the email address they gave me myclaiminfo@assurant.com and they never responded. I finally reached out to my claim adjusters manager and got a call back only to tell me they closed out my claim due to inactivity because they never received my emails? I even emailed that email address with the adjuster on the phone and she said my email didn't go through? What the **? She finally gave me her personal email address to send her the info they requested but seriously. If your claimants can't get a hold of you and you just close out their claim what good are you? And of course, their website only shows their good reviews. By the way, I purchased this insurance policy through GEICO and they are zero help with anything related to Assurant.

Price Quote was affordable, quick and we paid in full for a year, receiving savings discount. Took 10 mins total to finalize. We are covered fully, even Earthquake Coverage.

I appreciate getting the break of the contract and estimate this made it easy for me when having to provide all of this information to the contractors. I have disabilities so I use Speechify App to dictate to my phone to either read what’s on my screen to me or help me respond to emails or messages and Assurant was considerate of my disadvantages allowing me the time to gather the necessary information and documents which took longer than anticipated but I managed to finally get them to them and everything is good to go now so I am thankful for their understanding of people with disabilities and being in compliance with the ADA Act! After several days of unusually heavy rains the ceiling in my dining and living rooms were leaking, my insurance agent was quick to help me get the damage repaired and the carpet cleaned by excellent contractors. This was especially good as the HOA management company was very slow to respond.

I was satisfied with the customer service. The only thing that may need any improvement and why I didn't give a "10" is timing. They were a tad slower on responding to messages and I expected to have everything wrapped up and finalized in a shorter time period. A great bargain compared to Storage Facilities forced rates. In addition to covering your apartment contents, you can get a notice of coverage for items you have in storage. This notice will allow you to forgo the additional costs of insurance required by the facilities.

Website is very user friendly and coverage is affordable. I think if anyone would have to pay out of pocket the deductibles are reasonable. The pay increments really help if this is done in a last minute decision. Hopefully this insurance remains affordable even with the soaring of economic inflation.

I filed a claim back in November and once my claim was filed and I uploaded all my documents I was informed by text that someone will contact. That never happened. On December I started calling and every time I will call to get an update I was told by my adjuster that she was behind cases but will work on mine and gave her 10 days and same story throughout January.
In February I called again and she said, "Let me look at it" and send me an echeck and stated she will sent me a report later. She did but I did not agree with the payment. She said if I had additional receipts she will take them. Same day I sent the receipts I had initially sent and 3 weeks later she said, "I have them. I send them to my manager. I will call you in 2 to 3 days." It's been 2 weeks. No call. No emails. All week I've been trying to speak to my adjuster or manager and I've emailed. No response. Assurant reps have told me at least 6 times this week they will call you in 24 hrs and no response. I've sent over 10 emails and they haven't answered one. They have horrible communication.

It was easy, efficient and courteous. The app was very effective. I needed help and the rep was very patient and had all of the information I needed. My apartment complex said they never got it and she forwarded it right to them.

We have never had issues with Assurant. Customer Service is always TOP NOTCH and they are always very professional with every thing you need. They are always on standby for questions and they cover all that's needed so you can feel safe and secure in your home.

I recommend Assurant anytime. Their customer service has help me with my monthly payments and filling a claim. They're fast getting hold of you when you open a claim. They are reasonable on your policy payment. Customer service is very polite and helpful. If they can't help you they will get someone to help. Thank you Assurant. Five stars. Forms were easy enough for sufficient information. This claim is in the beginning stage so can't give a high or low customer service about Assurant yet. So far has been good and the guy I talked with on the phone was courteous and knowledgeable.

I love this insurance. I had an accident at my apartment where my floor model air condition leaked through my landlord's ceiling. My insurance covered the incident and paid to repair my landlord's ceiling and floor. My landlord was pleased with the repairs and how quickly it was fixed. They told me that I had great insurance.

I finally had a claim for renters insurance after 4-5 years (last loss was 5 years ago when my car was broken into) - unfairly denied a claim. Have had Assurant for 2-3 years. I think they get third party feeds on your background, but do not get updates to that feed, ending up with bad data (which should be reconciled by customer conversations or otherwise).
In this case the claims agent referred to the "managers" for all answers, who were not available - they are obviously the real people handling the claim but no contact information was given when I'd asked. So I basically spoke to "data entry" disguised as a claims agent, then radio silence from anyone who could address the issue or ask for more information.
She denied my claim on a technicality, referring to the "managers", but had referenced bad data that was factually inaccurate (see my above hypothesis on their third party data). Cancelled the insurance - at some point there will be an emergency which this place will be devastating to your situation, hopefully you read this review to avoid buying a policy here. The data entry person I spoke with (am sorry to say) appears to be masquerading as a claims agent - likely the casual driver of customer churn (myself included - I just cancelled the policy, saving a headache in case of a more catastrophic claim).

The ease of being able to check your policy, pay for or on your policy, and the ease of submitting a claim is phenomenal. I love that if I need to contact a customer service agent the wait time is minimal. You can always access your documents easily on the website. Easy to use and thoroughly put together. Questions are straight to the point and you’re able to load up pictures of damages as proof of loss. As long as you have all of your information together the process will go extremely quick and smooth.

Easy to use and great experience with better benefits. Lot of options and provides the recommended ones which is easy to select as well. Lots of options for payment like monthly, annual, etc. With discounts as well. Easy to chose address as well and multiple payment options as well.

Easy to navigate the claims form. Very user friendly, no time limits so it gives you plenty of time to organize your files. I have had Ins with this comp for over three yrs and thankfully never had to use it until now. And let me assure you that when you're stressed from being robbed, being rushed filing the necessary paperwork is the last thing anyone needs.

I believe that since I'm with your renter insurance company, I receive in advance the notifications regarding my renter's insurance policy. Also, the website to get access to my account is easy and has all information I need to understand the renter's insurance policy, as for example: the declaration page, the way to update new information, and upload the declaration page.

I reported a claim for a stolen e-bike in October of last year. Two weeks later I received a lowball settlement offer from the Assurant adjuster in the form of a URL link, which didn't even work. This offer was less than half of the replacement value of the bike, which is what they claim to provide in their advertising. I rejected the offer via email, and haven't received any communication from the adjuster or anyone else at Assurant since. I sent several follow-up emails which were also ignored.
It would appear their business model is to make an unacceptably low settlement offer and then simply ignore the policyholder until (fingers crossed) they give up and go away. I don't know how this company manages to stay in business, considering its two core competencies seem to be a) cashing premium checks and b) ignoring its customers. I can only assume they decided to treat me this way because this is the insurance that came with my dorm for school, so they figure I’m an easy target given the resources of most college students. In my case, however, this strategy will fail because after I post these reviews, I will take them to small claims court. Needless to say, after my experience with Assurant, I can't recommend them to anyone who is interested in purchasing rental insurance.

Staff are so helpful. They go out of their way to make sure you are a satisfied customer. They try to help you even off hours is really wonderful. The rates are also the cheapest compare to other ins.

Establishing and renewing my policy with Assurant was very easy. I don’t even have to think about it. The process was smooth. When I receive the email with the invoice, I simply pay it and I’m done until the following year.

So far so good but there's always room for improvement. It's tough being displaced from your home and then having to fill out lots of paperwork. The agent I spoke with before receiving the link to this claim form was kind but she wasn't very reassuring. At the end of the call I wasn't comforted knowing that I would be made whole. Hopefully that won't be an issue but I was left feeling like I may have to come out of pocket for something that was in no way my fault.

I’ve had Assurant for close to ten years and never filed a claim. We moved from FL to CA because my husband is military. We now live in off base military housing and they have had a bunch of power outages. One lasted for 15 hours. Food started going bad so decided to file a claim because our neighbors said they were doing so. It’s so hard to file a claim, they want a ton of info and the website on both the phone and the app are not user friendly and after filling everything out and itemizing everything that was in my fridge, it wouldn’t load the next page.
This was the Tuesday before Thanksgiving. I called on Wednesday to say I couldn’t file the claim and the woman told me to email my info in. Then I did not hear from anyone until the following Tuesday. Their excuse was they were off for five days for the holiday. I had called and left numerous messages. They do not have 24/7 customer service.
After all that, I was told the policy only covers if power is out over 24 hrs. Meanwhile, my neighbors who had USAA and Progressive filed their claims and most had money in their account the same day. When I told them I was canceling my claim, they said-ok. No customer service, no concern about keeping a long time customer. Nothing. And by the worst luck, our washing machine went out and who was the warranty through? Assurant. And they did just as bad service for that as they did for renter’s.

Assurant has not contacted me a single time regarding my claim. I have sent multiple emails and documentation, written several emails and still - NO RETURN. I've read multiple consumer claims reviews when filing a claim through Assurant Renters Ins and they have all been nightmares for people. I was not able to enter my apartment 12-25-22 to 01-03-2023. I filed my claim once i received enough info from my property management. I regret not reviewing other companies. I have had Geico for my 20 years Active Duty and decided to bundle - Assurant, why drag out the process? My clothes, bedding, shoes, military uniforms are MOLDED. ASSIST!

I find that as a tenant, Assurant's basic policy is largely sufficient to cover my current property insurance and tenant liability needs. The policy is clear and well-explained and the payment options (monthly or one-time) are appreciated. I have already recommended Assurant to other tenants in my complex.

I filed a claim with Assurant Renter's Ins. Feb. due to a fire. I have turned in all the info. During the last update, they were waiting to get in touch with my landlord to finish my claim which was months ago. I have paid over $4,000 a month for a hotel since we lost our home. They do not return calls! The adjusters nor the supervisors have taken the initiative to help my family. I have sent pics and videos of over 4,000 items and was then told the system does not accept videos. How would I know that if I can't get in contact with anyone? There is no communication to understand the DOs and DON'Ts of the process.
Months later they sent letters of what's needed to complete the claim. The representatives are rude and lazy. They make you feel like you are a criminal when you call. It feels like discrimination because they make it seem like there’s no way you could afford the amount of items on your list. If I couldn't afford them, do you think I would have taken the time to write them out? The amount of time, stress, and energy that was needed to complete the requirements was a headache. I paid out of pocket for the removal of items from the premises and have yet to be reimbursed.
Assurant has tarnished Geico’s reputation. They prolong the process in hopes that you’ll forget about your claim. We pay our payments, but they don't want to pay out claims. I wish I had read the reviews before purchasing this policy. At this point, I will be reaching out to the news stations, all social media platforms, GEICO and an attorney because until it's you in this situation no one cares! I trusted Assurant and Geico to protect my family and I if a situation like this was to ever arise. This claim should have been completed. Here we are during the holidays and my family remains displaced since 2/28/22. We are not able to save due to the expenses we pay from being displaced. THIS IS A MOTHER'S CRY! PLEASE HAVE OUR CLAIM FINISHED SO I CAN GET OUR FAMILY BACK UNDER ONE ROOF.
