    Never again will I spend my hard-earned money on this service. Had my old phone for 4 years, got damaged, so I filed a claim with Assurant at $105, after paying nearly $20 a month for 4 years. When I finally received the phone, it seemed okay, but once I started using it, the battery drop was 10x worse than my old phone (one reason it was replaced,) and the phone continuously dropped calls with good signal. The battery issue I dealt with, but I finally figured the call dropping wasn’t a fluke in the network so I decided to call Assurant. (Also noticed a crack a few days after receiving the device on the back.) Upon calling I was greeted by broken English, and the same line over and over, “I’m sorry you are dealing with this sir.”

    Long story short, I was told I had to file a second claim and pay the deductible again (after spending $1000+ over the course of 4 years,) because I was 9 days out of the return window. After speaking with the supervisor, I got nowhere. I do not recommend using Assurant as it is a scam. They make big money, then send you a POS “refurbished” device. Would’ve been better off fixing my old phone! Never again will I use this service. Best part about it was not being eligible for it after my claim.

    I was able to file for a replacement device very easily. I was approved instantly and my device arrived in about 3 or 4 days (it was the weekend because isn't it always). It would have been nice to know the replacement device I was receiving in advance because I wanted to wait to start using my phone until I had a case for it. Using the Smart Switch app was super easy and almost all of my data easily migrated.

    I'm located on a military installation overseas so I have to call in the middle of the night. I put in a claim (which was approved) and my phone "shipped" 9 days ago. When I went to check the tracking I got an error message. It turns out they shipped using UPS to an Apo (only USPS ships to a Apo). I attempted to call at LEAST 5 times to check what their system was showing for my shipment status. Every one of them hung up on me. Soon as I gave my name and phone number the line would disconnect or they would put me on hold and the line would hang up. I PAID for my replacement phone and now it's in limbo. I've attempted using the T-Life app to check the status and I just get a black screen, their website (that they spend 4 min of your phone call trying to get you to use) does not load. They claim it's due to updates but they gave me the same story 2 weeks ago. Horrible support team.

    When broke phone screen first time, it cost 50 deductible with 360 coverage which is unlimited screen replacements, which wasn't offered but 50 was deductible for new replacement phone. So I must have been good cuz I upgraded to Moto Flip. So next week, fell broke back screen on replacement phone. Only front screens are covered under 360 protection. So now deductible was 150 for replacement cuz value of phone was so much greater. I received Moto Flip again. It was nice of insurance to feel they wanted upgrade my device but should console with me see if could even afford such a device with that high deductible and should have just replaced screen first time.

    I would never recommend. My mother's phone had the black screen of death. No visible damage to the phone. Took it into T-Mobile. They recommended a warranty replacement rather than insurance. They ordered a phone. We go up the next day. They then tell us it's not a warranty issue but a insurance claim. Keep in mind the day before they said it was a warranty issue. No big deal right? Wrong. Now Assurant is denying the claim. It looks like T-Mobile activated the new phone & sim before rejecting the warranty. Now the insurance transferred to the new phone.

    We had the claim date before the transfer took place, but they still would not accept the claim. We had insurance on that phone for over a year with no gap in coverage. We called over & over and talked to several supervisors but they say all we can do is go online & try to file another claim. We have done this several times with the correct date of loss (day the phone quit working). They continue to deny with no way to appeal. Say away from them & T-Mobile.

    You definitely get what you pay for. Before going to Metro, I was with Tmobile for many years. I thought I was saving money, but with the saving money comes lazy, nasty, customer service!! I've been paying for insurance for my phones over 4 yrs! The phone that's giving me issues I've had for 2 yrs! I spoke with the insurance company, and they want 200.00! People pay for protection on their phone and purchase insurance so they aren't hit with high deductibles. I've paid over that amt for the ins!! Customer service was even nasty from the ins company! Wow! The price you pay for hell!!! If I could give them a 0, I would!!

    Tmobile & Assurant insurance are fraud. They promise you perfection & when phone doesn't work they hang up. I'm disable mom, single, in hospital bed. Been paying 5 lines with insurance on each phone. I'm dying so I communicate with drs & nurses thru phone. I filed a claim 'cause it's not working. They charged me 107 more, sent me a old used phone 3 x. I had to pay people to return it for me. Today I called again (30×) after receiving an email. Had to pay 254 more after being promised by 5 managers that correct phone was on its way. No more charges. Ended up hospital 2 x due to this issue. I'm on ssi with kids. They're all about money people. I have audios to prove it.

    The touchscreen for my Samsung flip 6 stopped working. I called my service provider (Xfinity Mobile) and they advised me to file a claim with Assurant as I pay for the insurance service. I called Assurant, and was able to file a claim. The original representative stated that she was fowarding my claim to a different department as she did not see any replacement devices being available. The broken phone is not paid off, but was insured, so I thought. Two days later, I get an email from Assurant advising to call them. I called Assurant for them to advise me that they have no replacement phones available, that Assurant will not be paying off my broken phone, and that I would have to purchase a new phone and they would issue a reimbursement check for the new purchase, but that they would only cover up to a max of $1070.00, which will not even buy a replacement Samsung Flip 6.

    So per the explained Assurant process, I would have to pay off my existing balance and have to buy a new phone for any insurance to kick in. So, I pay approx. $18.00/mo for Assurant insurance that will not insure my existing broken phone, because Assurant does not have any replacement phones. I asked if I could just get a comparable phone instead of the Samsung Flip 6, and was told no, that is not how this works. I asked why Assurant could not just pay off my existing phone, and was also told, "No, that is not how this works." I was told that I am responsible to pay off the phone, that the insurance does not work that way when insured by Assurant, but that they cover replacements, when they have them available.

    So, I figured phone insurance would be no different than car insurance. If I had a car that was financed and insured, when that car gets in an accident and it is totaled out, the insurance would pay the car loan off. But no that is NOT HOW ASSURANT WORKS! They SUCK! Never again dealing with Assurant. Never again! Total Waste of money!!

    I was charged a hefty fee of $18 a month on three lines for insurance. My daughter’s phone screen needed to be repaired and these scammers denied my claim, refusing to cover the expenses when the insurance clearly stated $0 down for screen repair. They tried to push me into getting a diff phone and I had to also pay a deductible of $99 and I refused. They then told me I was eligible for replacement but the phone will not be available till ending of Sept. After several calls they agreed to pay to get the screen repair and when I called they told me they will not be paying the refund and I spent $197 getting my daughter’s screen fixed. This insurance is pointless and only beneficial when you are paying installments on your phone but they will not tell you that. They sell the same story to everyone. I've canceled their service and I will never use it again. Please be aware.

    I've been a Sprint/T-Mobile customer for 19 years with six devices, and have probably had to use any protection plan a handful of times over the course of that time. My daughter broke her phone in May 2025, and the device was returned to a USPS drop box because the teller system was down. We received a replacement device. In late June, I received a reminder email to return the device, so my daughter called and was told that the package had been received. In July, I received another email stating the claim had been reviewed, but Assurant was unable to remove the fees (I had not yet been charged any fees). She called back and was told they received an empty box. Because the phone was dropped in the box, no tracking could be accomplished with the post office.

    In August, T-Mobile billed me for the non-returned device, and I spent hours on the phone trying to resolve this with them and Assurant. Ultimately, T-Mobile was kind enough to remove the fees, but Assurant had ZERO accountability. I asked the supervisor how much the package weighed when received, and instead of providing the weight, she said it could take up to 5 business days to scan after receipt in their warehouse, but the box was empty once scanned--so I asked if it was possible within those 5 days someone at ASSURANT STOLE the phone, and she could not answer that. I also asked if the claim could be changed from "physical damage" to "stolen" because CLEARLY it was now stolen, but the supervisor said it could not be changed.

    If I wanted to keep a broken phone for some reason, wouldn't I have just filed the original claim as stolen and gotten the replacement anyway?? HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE, but T-Mobile saved a long-time customer. I would like T-Mobile to offer a choice for insurance plan companies (like Asurion), because I no longer wish to support that company financially by paying for my 360-Protection Plan.

It has been 7 business days since the phone was delivered to them and they couldn't even find the tracking number they provided themselves, once I gave them the information they were able to see it was delivered but still not "scanned in". The agent has escalated the issue but it takes at least another 3 business days for them to figure it out and then 10 business days for me to get my refund (this was a claim cancellation) so it would be over 20 business day before the chance of getting my money back which is a little ridiculous because if you go over by 1 day of not returning the phone they automatically charge you full amount but then expect you to just wait around until they decide to do their job!

    I have been insuring four phones through Assurant on my TMobile account for many years. My son accidentally dropped his phone and needed a cracked screen repair, it should have been free. Assurant only offered me the option to pay $99 for a refurbished replacement, even though their insurance policy & the tmobile rep that sold me the insurance said I would be entitled to free cracked screen repairs. I spent 5 hours on the phone with TmObile, Assurant and at the store dealing with this issue only for it not to be resolved and for the Assurant reps to be rude and unhelpful. I will never again use this insurance company.

    I have been a customer of T-Mobile for over 25 year previously Sprint. My son was on my plan and then chose to get his own plan which included device protection. He had been paying on his plan for over 5 years and never had a repair request until July 14th 2025. The experience was the worst. He had 3 issues which apparently could be repaired. The main issue was the process took over 3 hours in a repair shop, calling Assurant which took forever, going through the chat which also took forever with no resolve to repair only to be advised he had to purchase a new phone.

    What's the point in having insurance protection. The gentleman at the repair shop was super nice and said he could repair the phone but had to get permission from Assurant which did not happen. Also we witness another customer having problems in the store with Assurant as well. So I have since removed the insurance protection from my service as well, not worth the money, time or stress.

    My claim has been put in "pending documents" status three times with no explanation of what they lack to adjudicate the claim (we've sent everything twice) and NO way to speak to a human. I was told, after finally reaching a human being, that the adjusters wouldn't speak to me because "they don't have phones." This is preposterous.

    Terrible scam for a precious piece of everyday life. Just about everything in life is connected to your phone now.. especially if you run a business. You would think having insurance is the prudent thing to do, but instead it is a complete waste of time and money. Just take care of your phone and pay nothing. I paid into this for at least four years totaling more than $400. It has now been 4 full days since I have submitted my claim (including daily follow up calls/emails/chats) and they have YET to review my claim... let alone approve it and start to work out shipping details.

    I was therefore forced to buy a new phone while waiting for my "free" replacement. Waste of time and money. I will never buy phone insurance again, and I hope this company goes under for their predatory processing racket. You can get a refurbished phone shipped to your house in less than 24 hours (sometimes same day) from Amazon. It's really not that difficult, and clearly intentional business practice on Assurant's side.

    File a claim touchscreen problem. They sent me to someone that just plugged it in and said he could not help me. Went back and they sent me to him again and he said he couldn’t help me. Brought the phone to Apple. They said all there was was a touchscreen problem which is covered with my insurance paid $279 to fix which should’ve been covered with the insurance policy that I pay through Spectrum. Called told them my problem. They said next time ask them for another person to send them to. No accountability at all. Zero accountability. They sent me to someone that didn’t know what they were doing, which shouldn’t be my fault. They said the next time I should be able to ask them for another person to send them to. Terrible.

    I had a brand new 2025 Motorola Razr Ultra for about a week before someone bumped into me and knocked it out of my hands. The external screen got a small chip in the edge with a very minimal and hard to see crack on it. So, naturally, I paid the $100 and filed my claim. It was approved fast and shipping was quick. The replacement phone works fine, but the outer screen was very considerably scuffed along the bottom edge. The factory installed, unremovable, and irreplaceable screen protector looks as though a cat attacked it, along with three deep stab marks in the very middle of the screen. The crease is also much more prominent on one side.

    This is FAR from a like new phone, and when I opened the box it came in, I was absolutely horrified to find that it was shipped loosely, in a box that was 2 sizes too large, with the phone rattling inside. The safety packaging consisted of ONE very small sheet of bubble wrap laid on TOP OF THE PHONE. The fast approval and replacement shipping have to be the only highlights to this ordeal, as I'd have probably much rather have had the minimal chip missing from the edge than the screen look like it has had sandpaper taken to it. Can't say that that I'm super pleased.

    Filed a claim to replace a broken phone and sent back my old one in the pre-paid package w/ label and after months of them not processing it and charging me $800 (confirmed with them that it’s been a their processing center since may). They processed it after I called in July concerned as to why I was being charged for the replacement and then they said they need 1-3 business days to investigate. Emailed back the next morning that the box was empty and no refund will be issued… What???? Seems like this company is running a scam on people returning devices leaving it unprocessed and then saying it’s empty. Insanely frustrating especially when you do all the steps for the return.

    After calling them regarding the issue they put me on multiple brief holds to repeat the same verbiage and then transferred me to the post office with no information to provide them with. Lol. Like ok so out of millions of packages let’s talk about the one pre labeled one that I didn’t take a pic of lol back in May. Lol. 😂 Very unfortunate and sneaky company T-Mobile. We can do better than this please. Never have I had a problem returning a device and being charged. I could of just upgraded my device and kept my old phone.

    I’m extremely disappointed with how my recent phone insurance claim was handled. I purchased a new iPhone 16 and made sure to include insurance at the time of purchase. The phone was activated at the T-Mobile store, and my SIM card was transferred over to Iphone 16. However, Assurant declined my claim, stating that the insurance is tied to the line, not the actual device.

    Unfortunately, my phone was stolen shortly after purchase. Despite purchasing the insurance, Assurant refused to cover the loss. Their reasoning? The phone wasn’t “used” within 72 hours, even though it was activated at the tmobile store. Because no calls were made from the device, they refused to recognize it as covered. I later transferred my SIM back to my old iPhone 14, and now they claim the insurance only applies to that phone(which I already have applecare), not the new iPhone 16 I actually bought and insured in person.

    To make matters worse, both T-Mobile and Assurant are now telling me to contact each other, with neither offering any real help or resolution. I’m stuck in a loop over coverage that I paid for, with no accountability or support from either company. This policy is misleading and unfair. Customers should be clearly informed that insurance coverage depends on usage within a specific timeframe, not just activation or purchase. I followed all the steps I was supposed to, yet I’m left without coverage for a brand-new phone that was stolen. Assurant, I urge you to review and revise your policy to reflect real-world usage and store protocols. Customers deserve transparency and protection, not fine print that leaves them vulnerable. Make this right.

    I have been fighting with Assurant on the phone every day for a week over covering my phone. I have had my phone on T-Mobile's network since 2023 and have had the insurance as well. They won't continue forward with my claim because they "don't have the phone in the system," and they are asking for a receipt. I don't have a receipt; it was 2 years ago!

    The phone is from the Chinese company Ulefone, so getting information from them is like pulling teeth, since there is a language barrier. I have provided the IMEI number for the phone, the make, model, color, and GB as requested, and they still keep jerking me around. Why do they need a receipt or any other information? They should have already had the phone information when I began the insurance. They say I need to talk to T-Mobile. T-Mobile says I need to talk to Assurant. I have been going back and forth for a week. This company is awful, and I will be filing complaints with the Department of Insurance, the FCC, the Federal Trade Commission, and the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau.

    I was very satisfied with how fast I received my new device. The only issue was having to take it to T-Mobile to get the Sim activated but even that experience was very fast. It only took two days for me to get my device and return the other one. Was very satisfied. My grandson didn't have to wait long to play with his new device.     Xfinity store checked my phone and confirmed that it was damaged. They gave me the phone no. to file my claim. The new phone came the next morning! I just wish that I had them unsync the old and new phones, then do the factory reset. I did it myself at home, removing contacts from the old phone before I mailed it in. Big mistake- phones were still synced, so when I erased from old phone, it also erased contacts from new phone.

I chatted with one of your representatives to see how I can get a new replacement sent out and was told there is nothing they can do. Our mail boxes do not take small packages anymore. They only take the size of an envelope. You have to take it to the Post office.
