    Once the problem with ID verification was resolved, I received my replacement very quickly. I would like to apologize for being so irate and impatient with agents. Assurant is a great company, and when you pay close to 1k for such a tiny device that can so easily be lost or stolen, having insurance is very important. All is well that ends well. I will continue to use Assurant to insure any phone I purchase.

    One of our phones died from low battery. After charging it for 24 hours the screen would not turn on. Contacted Assurant to file a claim. They said since it was probably the battery the claim was flat denied. Took it to a local phone repair shop and they tested the phone to determine it was actually the screen. Which IS covered under our insurance. We were on vacation and since we were already there we had them proceed with the repair. We work from our phones so we can’t have excessive downtime. Had assurant recommended a local place to test for the issue they would have been notified of the screen fail and that it was covered. We paid over $200 for something that the insurance we have had for over a year should have paid for minus a $29 deductible. It is impossible to get a hold of anyone or submit documents to them too.

    Like T-Mobile, ASSurant SUCKS. And just like T-Mobile, you'll find yourself talking to a person in India who barely understands English and can't hear you anyway over the 500 other reps on the phones in one giant room. When you file a claim, you essentially have to PROVE to them that you're covered. ASSurant has no idea of who you are or what your device is. Be prepared to scroll through (literally) every phone, notebook, and computer Apple has ever made. Get ONE detail wrong, and ASSurant will deny your claim. Don't forget to pay the $89 deductible first for this garbage service. And the phone I was supposed to get "the next day"... is now on day 3.

    We had the best experience, and the most patient, polite, and caring staff member helped us. We are smartphone stupid; she was an absolute gem. She explained everything to us and finished our setup, so when we left, we were ready to use our devices. Not sure if I am spelling it right, but her name was Anica at the Sikeston location.     My husband used Assurant to file his claim on his damage phone. When we didn't return the device his card was charged the recovery fee. So after they received the phone back they said he would get the refund back to his card but now their saying he will receive a check in 5 to 10 days, which is not fair because we were told he would get it refunded back to his card. I think Assurant practices poor and unfair service to the customer when they told us one thing and now doing another.

    Shame on you Assurant for lying to us and making us wait for a check in the mail. So I will report this matter to the better business bureau cause it's wrong to lie to the customer this way. You charged his card for the non return fee and when you got the phone back you lied and said it will go back to his now and it's not. Phone insurance customers beware of the lies that were told to us because it may just happen to you. I will search and try to find a different phone protection company cause Assurant does their customers wrong and think it's ok with nothing we could do about it but wait for the check in the mail.

    My overall experience using the insurance was okay once I got to the right person to put the claim through at my T-Mobile store. I didn't particularly care for the deductible and then having to pay tax on the deductible. You might want to review that part. I have already sent my old phone back and the exchange was quite easy. I do recommend getting the insurance.

    I decided to upgrade my device and was frustrated trying to do it in person. The lines were long and seemed not to move at all. I found out I could upgrade from home, so I took that option. The process was fast and relatively easy. I took the option of returning my old device via the UPS option. Dropped off the device, it was packaged and sent no charge to Assurant. Received a confirmation of their receipt of the device and confirmation that the trade in value would be credited. Definitely the way to go for device upgrades!

    My claim got approved on the 14th and they STILL haven’t shipped me my phone. Going on two whole weeks with NO phone thanks to them. They told me I can buy a new phone on my own and they’d refund me weeks later. What is the point of having insurance then?!?! Not everyone has 1.5K to spare to go buy a new phone then wait weeks for a check. This is the most unprofessional company ever and it’s a shame T-Mobile partners with them. I’ve spoken to a customer service agent every day and they tell me the same thing. “Still not in stock in our warehouse, buy your own phone is you need it sooner”. I asked if they can just ship me a different iPhone instead. Nope. Of course they don’t care about customers not having a phone because it’s not THEM being phoneless.

    This is the first time I have had to file a claim. It went very smooth and quick. I had just got my new phone and was trying to put it in the case they sold me and it was hard and I dropped my phone in the process and of course it cracked the screen.     My phone battery will not hold a charge. Assurant supposedly covers “unlimited battery replacement." After being told that battery repair was not covered, they said that they would have to send me a replacement phone. I have security software on my phone that cannot be transferred to a new phone without several hours of travel to my company IT department. I simply want to take it to their repair shop. CPR or Batteries +. Nope. The “system” Determine that I was too far away for me to drive my own vehicle there. They said it was also due to the battery being unavailable. Apple says they are available. $3500 paid over the last 5 years on 4 phones and can’t get simple $85 repairs that apple is happy to provide.

    I filed an insurance claim for my Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra and was sent a Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra as a replacement. Unfortunately, the device arrived defective and was stuck in a continuous update loop out of the box. After reporting the issue immediately, I expected a comparable replacement. Instead, I am now being sent a Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra, which is a downgrade from what was originally provided.

    I have contacted Assurant and Spectrum multiple times and have been redirected back and forth without resolution. I was ultimately told that no other options are available. This situation is frustrating because I received a defective upgraded device through no fault of my own, yet the resolution is to downgrade me to an older model. I also incurred additional costs purchasing accessories for the S24 Ultra. I am simply looking for a fair resolution, but so far that has not been offered.

    Worst insurance I have dealt with. Even if you are disabled if the closest place that is in their system is 3 hours away. They will not help you. You have one rep. Tell you one thing. Oh, you can go find someone in Bend, Oregon where you're at to fix your phone screen and then let us know who they are and then they turn around. Oh, I'm sorry my representative said that and don't honor it! How they cannot honor something like that when their customer is disabled is beyond me but they have no issue taking your money! A total of 8 hours on the phone with them and Xfinity. If you want to go through hell and still not get your phone fixed and nobody give you your money back for paying for the highest insurance they have you still get screwed.

    I have already filled this out in another survey. Problem was with the length of time it took to complete the purchase, over 2 hours after waiting for a clerk for an hour to begin the process. When I questioned her about the trade in program I was informed that my phone was too old so this didn't work for me. After about an hour and I had selected a phone the clerk informed me that I could chose another, better, phone and the discount would apply.     DO NOT BUY Assurant through T-Mobile- I have been paying for insurance for 2+ years at $19/month. I dropped my iPhone and they denied the claim. They stated I was not covered at the time of the incident. Took the phone to T-Mobile, we got on the phone with Assurant, and the rep said it was a glitch. She said to give her a few days, and she would follow up on Monday or Tuesday (spoke to her on the previous Thursday). Wednesday comes and goes - NOTHING. Went to T-Mobile again, and they couldn't get in touch with a live person.

    I have called - no live human beings, just a bot. I emailed documentation - NOTHING. Take your phone to an Apple Store so they can inspect your phone for Apple Care. It's cheaper, and they will take care of you immediately. Buying Assurant was a horribly expensive decision. T-Mobile should be ashamed to be associated with such a horrible company. I will probably switch providers as well. T-Mobile was happy to bill me for the past 2+ years, but has done nothing to help me resolve the issue with the Company that they do business with.

    Horrible service, mailed my phone in for repair. It has been over 5 days, no updates, proof of received. Nothing and I was told it would take 2 business days. Only reason I mailed it in. Spoke to several supervisors. No one was on the same page. Every representative had a different answer. I am so stressed without my phone.

    The battery on this phone does not last long. It’ll lasts about half a day and it will be down to about 15% and I have to recharge it which is not always convenient especially if I’m not home. I think I need another replacement. Usually previous phones last over a day or two. I’m afraid to use it much because the battery drains fast.

    No, In no way are these reviews legit. This is typical of scammers in this new Trump era. Open scamming and fraud are the new economy. I had a Google Pixel 8 through T-Mobile. It broke and was the worst phone I ever had. I paid this company every month for insurance on my phone, so I figured I would actually utilize my cell phone insurance that I PAID FOR. This shady company sent me a broken replacement phone. I had to return it. I returned it in the date they said.

    This company still taked a $400 charge on my cell phone. First the refurbished phone wasn't even worth that in value. Second, it was broke. Third, I sent it back to them after it was broke, and they STILL CHARGED ME. I have been on the phone for hours fighting a near $400 charge. This company is nothing more than a scammer. They don't do anything but take your money, provide broken phones, and charge you. Imagine how much this shady company makes charging everybody monthly, then sending broken phones half the value they state they are. Pure shady fraudulent company. This is what the new economy is built on.

I am requesting an immediate update and a concrete timeline for resolution. If this isn't resolved this week, my next step is a formal complaint with the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB).

    AWFUL! I have coverage through T-Mobile that gives me $29 back glass repair. They refuse to allow me to use this option and tell me that my only option is to get a full replacement for $99. I do not want a replacement I want it repaired and for the $29 per my contract. When I call they are very rude and not willing to listen at all.

    I went to their website., which prompted me to make an appt with CPR phone repair. I chose a location near my home & made an appt. Then I started the claim process. When I got to the part that said pick your location, that location was no an option. There were 3 other options over an hour away. I called them and of course they apologized & said there was nothing they could do! The repair is free under their policy. So he said we can send you a new phone for $49, which is the copay for a phone replacement & it's usually a refurbished phone. So why am I paying a monthly fee for this 360 protection plan, if they don't want to help me!!

    The CPR store owner even got on the phone and said they have been trying to resolve this issue & nothing is being done. That puts a strain on her business. She had the replacement screen right there and they would not approve the repair since the location was not an option when filing the claim. This is ridiculous. I'm 70 yrs old and tired of all this technology crap. Nobody cares anymore. I worked in customer service most of my working life. Everything is so frustrating. An AI person comes on, then you have to press a 100 different menu options. Before you can speak to a real person, who is probably sitting at home from a remote location or you can't understand them as they are not here in the US!!!

    If I could give them a zero, I would. I’ve been waiting close to a month for a replacement for my Motorola Razr, in which they said they didn’t have not one in their entire warehouse. My only option is to purchase the exact phone, again and they would reimburse me or wait until they get one in the warehouse.     PLEASE don’t buy the Assurant insurance!! I have been fighting with Assurant and T-Mobile for over 3 months over a phone that Assurant says I didn’t return although their records show I did return and T-Mobile shows I returned!! I also have the USPS tracking that shows the phones as returned. I love T-Mobile service and ability to have texting and WiFi overseas!!! Their customer service is horrible!!!     Purchased two phones a few years ago, but did not want insurance because my past experience with another company was that the deductible was very expensive. I was told by my carrier, T-Mobile, that it is a different company and went over some of the benefits stating that for a cracked screen the most I'd pay is around $30. Now after several years of paying the premiums for 2 phones, I am told there are no repair shops near me and would have to pay for a replacement. I explained I lived in the country so if they gave me a list of repair shops, I'd take the phone in to repair.

    After speaking with the manager, I was repeatedly told they had no list of repair shops.     From the time I reported the damage of the cell phone with a picture taken front and back and told that by the Assurant local store on sherry in mission Texas that the device could not be repaired because it was completely damaged front and back. Yet via internet assurance internet company still asked for me to set up an appointment for repair knowing the the store supervisor had already made notation via computer that he started that it was not able to be repaired and I should be approved for a refurbished one as soon as possible via mail next day which it never happened.

    It took 7 to 8 days for the replacement to arrived therefore I had to barrow my uncles phone in the meantime. I did not have any excess to my emails or contacts. So was not aware they had setup appointments for me to have the phone repaired. It was totally unacceptable and unbearable. There needs to be better communication between the the assigned local assurance local store and the main company so the customer is not left in the wind with no cellphone or excess to their contacts. Either loan a phone unit the new one comes in or take the professional opinion for the local store supervisor that actually saw the damage team instead of making the customer wait for their replacement. 😡

    WORST company to deal with! We paid them for YEARS, on MANY corporate phones for our company, and now that the owner of our company needs to USE the insurance, Assurant has gone out their way to DELAY, DELAY, DELAY! I shouldn't have to go and BUY another $2000 phone because Assurant has horrific service! When T-Mobile sold us ALL our company phones, we were told, "Just call Assurant with a claim, and they'll overnight you a new phone." NOT SO, NOT AT ALL! It's been OVER A WEEK and our company owner still HAS NO PHONE!

    Our T-Mobile rep is useless, and the Assurant reps are EVEN WORSE -- if you can even understand them, as most are not in the U.S. and English is not their first language. Our company has cancelled ALL insurance on ALL of our company-owned phones and will NEVER pay another dime to Assurant since they're nothing more than a GYPSY company that scams its customers. Good riddance, Assurant!

    I’ve had to replace my phone twice and Assurant has made a very simple. Making the claim on any service provider app did not take long at all. It was very simple with their step-by-step questions and instructions. Depending on how soon or early in the day you make your claim after the incident you get your phone in the mail 2 to 3 days later. And the instructions were fairly easy to follow and if I had any questions I would just go back to my mobile provider store. But I was able to do it by myself at my home. There was only a couple of questions I had to ask my service provider but everything else I did by myself. And all you have to worry about is just making sure you package the damaged phone and send it in the mail within 10 business days which isn’t hard at all. I definitely recommend this all of my friends and family whoever ever need to make a claim to get their phone replaced or fixed.

    I am submitting this survey to express my deep dissatisfaction with the handling of my recent device protection claim. I filed a claim after my phone was damaged. My original device cost $1,299.99 at the time of purchase. During the claim process, I was given two options: Wait 90 days for a replacement device because my model was out of stock. Choose reimbursement, with clear instructions from the agents that I could purchase a new phone not exceeding the original price, submit the receipt, and receive reimbursement minus the $200 deductible.

    Because I urgently needed a functioning phone, I chose the reimbursement option. I followed every instruction exactly as provided. I bought a phone that cost less than my original device price and submitted the receipt immediately. After the review, I was reimbursed only $469, which is drastically lower than what I was told to expect and does not match the explanation given by the agents. This amount is unfair, and it caused financial loss on my end.

    When I called for clarification, I received inconsistent explanations. One agent said the reimbursement was calculated using the price of the new phone I purchased minus the deductible. Another agent told me that I needed to upload the original claimed device receipt to receive the correct reimbursement amount. I uploaded the receipt right away. Since then, it has been over two weeks with no response. When I contacted support, one representative told me to wait 3–5 business days, and another told me 24 hours. I still have not heard anything back.

    This experience has been extremely disappointing. I followed every step exactly as advised, yet I received a reimbursement that is far below what I was told from the beginning. The lack of consistency, transparency, and follow-up communication has made this process very frustrating and stressful. I am requesting a full review of my case and the reimbursement to reflect the correct amount based on the original device price minus the deductible, as stated to me by multiple agents.     I was disappointed that the replacement phone that I received for my Galaxy S10 was a Galaxy S21, which doesn't have a SD storage card slot; also, it's kind of hard doing screenshots on the Galaxy S21, because both the power button and volume button are on the right side of the phone. My Galaxy S10 power button and volume button were on opposite sides of the phone, making doing screenshots easier.

    I would give zero stars if I could. This company is an absolute joke and does not care about customer service in any way shape or form. It's just a bunch of AI robots and unskilled workers reading from scripts without using any real problem solving skills. I brought my iPhone for a screen repair on Sunday, the screen was replaced and when I returned home I realized that now there was water stuck in my camera lens that was not there prior to the screen repair. I took my phone back to the CPR -Bellingham authorized provider and showed them the issue. The repairman then tried putting my phone in and out of diagnostic mode "per protocol" rapidly turning my phone on and off, plugging it in and out of a charger. When I went in, my phone was operational with the exception of my camera being blurry. Now my device won't turn on and is completely broken!

    The repairman directed me back to Assurant where I filed another claim which was instructing me to take the phone back to CPR - Bellingham. Knowing they are unable to solve the problem they caused, I reached out to Assurant via their chat option. I was told via chat that my claim was approved and I would receive an email with the approval information and tracking number for my replacement device. The following morning I still had not received an email and the website still was showing my claim as pending. I tried again unsuccessfully chatting with an AI "agent" and then called the customer support line and was given the same run around about how they can't do anything to solve my problem. Next time I will just stick with a cracked phone versus trying to deal with this joke of a company. DO NOT GIVE THEM YOUR MONEY.

    Assurant is ok for glass repairs and replacement phones other than how they charge you for the broken replacement phone saying it wasn't returned when it was. I just had a charge on my T Mobile bill for $755.99 saying they never received the phone that I returned. When I call T Mobile, they say they see it was received and then you have to call Assurant to try to get your money back. I called Assurant, and they told me it will take 1 to 2 billing cycles to get my money back that overdrew my checking account. How incredible. This is not the first time it happened. Just some advice for people returning broken phones. Make sure you follow up with Assurant like I will from now on. If it ever happens again. I really dread it.

    The absolute worst insurance company I have ever dealt with. Rude agents, lack of helpfulness and poor English. Submitted claim three months ago, still no solution except a $50 fee.     This review should be zero, however I have had multiple issues with this company. I reported fraud as someone went online and ordered and paid for a phone using my phone number and name but different. Address. Called Assurant and shipment of phone was stopped and phone retuned back to Assurant. I thought it was handled but someone within their department sent me to their debt collections for the phone that was never shipped and was returned. And was paid for by the people who tried to scam me according to assurant. Called them on October 26th when I received the debt collection letter and all I got is case is closed and no fee are associated with this.

    I asked them how can this be sent to a debt collector. I could not get an answer. And now I am stuck with trying to get the debt collection company to cancel debt as stated above. This should have never happened. They sent me to their debt collection company so they should be able to call and get issue fixed but they told me on October 26th for me to do it. The receipt below shows the phone being retuned back to sender which is Assurant. TRS recovery is your debt collector who’s trying to collect a debt that never occurred this needs to be resolved as information of above was investigated by your specialist within Assurant.

    I’m beyond frustrated as ASSURANT seems like a money-grabbing company that does very little for its customers. There should be a negative star icon for this company. I’ve been paying Assurant every single month since 2017 for phone protection on my T-Mobile lines (around $19 per month, nearly $2,000 over the years). I’ve never missed a payment and never filed a single claim until now. After eight years of loyalty, the one time I actually need help, I get completely let down and basically conned into an empty promise.

    In August 2025, I filed a claim for my Galaxy Note 8. The rep clearly told me I was approved for a Galaxy S23 replacement with a $250 deductible because the Note 8 was obsolete, discontinued, and unavailable in any of their warehouses. I was traveling internationally at the time, so the rep and I agreed to pause shipment until I got back, all within the 90-day claim window. When I called back to finish the process, suddenly they claimed they found a refurbished Note 8 in stock and that’s now my replacement. Really? That same phone they said didn’t even exist a few weeks earlier? Now they expect me to pay the same $250 deductible for a phone that’s been off the market for years and isn’t even worth half that. It feels completely made up and unfair.

    After paying thousands in premiums for “protection,” I’m being offered a discontinued phone instead of the equivalent model I was originally approved for. This isn’t right. I want Assurant to stand by the original agreement and provide the Galaxy S23 or an equivalent that was promised, not some outdated device they conveniently “found” after the fact. I even called back T-MOBILE and even the Rep and his supervisor were shocked that Assurant went back on their word as it was already documented in both systems. DO BETTER AND STOP SCAMMING CUSTOMERS!!!

Now they say there was a “technical issue” with the upload, and I need to resubmit. Then it’ll be 3–5 more business days. Plus shipping.

    No updates. No accountability. Every call restarts the process. It feels less like incompetence and more like a strategy: stall, confuse, and hope you give up. Why pay for insurance that fails exactly when you need it? Assurant’s service is a black hole and frankly, a scam—zero transparency, zero urgency, and zero responsibility. T-Mobile should be ashamed to be partnered with them. SKIP THIS PLAN AND GET APPLECARE. They will replace your phone faster, with less stress and far more reliability. -OR- Save your money and just replace the phone yourself.

    I cancelled my overpriced home insurance policy for a much cheaper policy with better coverage from State Farm. Now they are holding my refund hostage. Every time I call they tell me it'll be 7-10 days and I should have a check. Been doing that for the last 3 months. I just want my money back. Typical large company won't hesitate to charge you a late fee, but when it comes to giving your money back they don't care.

    Spectrum Arden store was very helpful in navigating purchases. The sales clerks were juggling multiple customers and we still patient with everyone that walked in.     I had a claim on my T-Mobile Apple phone. When I tried to trade it I was told that I could only get $75 for it. When I did the replacement with Assurant they didn’t receive my old phone fast enough and charged my phone bill $799. That’s on top of the $150 deductible. This is a scam and they are crooks. Buyer beware! Use Apple Care, do not use Assurant.

    Do not use Assurant for T-Mobile’s Protection 360 BYOD insurance. I lost my phone and filed a claim, and all I get is the same response: “wait 3 to 5 days.” and I’m still left without a phone, no updates, and no real support. This company makes the process extremely frustrating and unhelpful. Paying for insurance is pointless if they don’t deliver when you actually need it.

    I tried to call the Assurant number to replace my phone but the service kept cutting off before I could complete my request. I tried at least 12 times to do it and it kept cutting off at different times. So I had to wait another day and go to the store where I had the same issue, but they were able to connect me directly to the customer service line and it finally worked. It would also be better to get a replacement phone at the store instead of having to wait for Assurant to deliver it.

    Updated on 09/26/2025: Today, after 6 days of losing my phone and reporting the problem to my insurance company, I contacted them again since I haven't received any emails. The person who helped me, incredibly, tells me again that they didn't receive my ID, after having sent it 3 times, even being on the phone with the operator and following their instructions. When I confronted her, she apologized and then changed her version: the ID was received but that I should wait 24 hours or 3 to 5 days. Imagine, I've been without a phone for a week now, and now she's telling me 5 days. It's pathetic. This insurance is the worst... Their staff is practically untrained in handling claims, and they don't have access to accurate information. I decided to just leave it like this; I won't waste my time anymore. I don't recommend it at all. It's better to get Apple insurance directly. It's a little more expensive, but at least you won't waste your money or time.

    Original Review: I've been without a phone for 5 days. I reported the loss and haven't heard back. I contacted them and they gave me different versions, supposedly that the ID I sent was blurred, then I resent it and they told me I had to wait 24 to 48 hours, this time passed, I contacted again and they told me they hadn't received anything, I resent it and now they tell me 3 to 5 days. Which makes me think they're really looking for excuses to not resolve the problem. The truth is, it's not worth paying for insurance... it's a waste of time, not to mention I've lost a few jobs due to being disconnected... This insurance is a total disappointment. I don't know if everyone is like this... but it's my first experience with this and it's a complete disappointment. I feel scammed.
