    I was pleased with the replacement and the fact that this exists. My only disappointment was how long it took to get the replacement but that prolly because my phone is work related so it costed me some revenue. The cost to replace could be better but I understand that everything cost money these days. The replacement did come and said it was rooted. My gf fixed that but that made me a little uneasy about the phone being attached to any of my banking apps. Hackers suck. Mailing off the old device was easy. No complaint there. You could send a charger with the phone to make up for the 50 deductible. But overall not a bad system or back up to fall on. I'm extremely hard on phone so this saved my butt.

    I have a hard time with having my brand new phone I pay insurance for, getting broke and that when I file a claim I get a refurbished phone in return from you guys to replace my brand new phone it just broke. If someone keeps on breaking their phone over and over then I understand them getting a refurbished phone but if a person pays for insurance for a couple years with no claims then they should get brand new.

    All of these positive reviews are lies. Search this company on Reddit, no one has had a positive experience. I submitted a claim, 2-3 weeks passed, never heard from them. I had to call, gave all of the information of what happened. A week later I get a call and “we have never talked” along with unnecessary attitude. A month has passed and have not heard a peep from them.

    'Protection' plans are nearly always suspect without first-person knowledge. In this case, Spectrum's alignment with Assurant provided this consumer with an immediate replacement for a screen, sans any physical damage, showing signs of pixel failure. Assurant's website contains a workflow that is coherent and provides the customer with irrefutable evidence of a result. In my case a replacement device was warranted. All subsequent email traffic that followed contained information of value, no attempts to up-sell or distract from the core mission; replace the consumer's device and provide 'protection'. Thank you for not wasting my family's money and my time, Assurant.

    I dealt with AppleCare for over three weeks, trying to get them to send me a replacement. After numerous fail attempts, I finally decided to cancel AppleCare insurance and strictly deal with Assurant. I had a replacement device within 48 hours.     Updated on 10/02/2024: Apparently the furniture aspect of Assurant is through a 3rd party company. Assurant was quick to respond and give me their contact information. I was able to speak with a supervisor who finally looked into my claim and agreed that the damages were NOT consistent with my prior claim a year ago and is finally sending a tech. But both the claims department and dispute department put no effort in my claim. They saw it involved the same couch i filed on last year and quickly denied my claim and denied my dispute of their denial without even hesitation or an understanding of what was damaged. That is a horrible way to operate!

    Original Review: Claims process is horrible!! I filed a claim on 9/6/24 with an incident date of 9/4/24. Denied for being outside of 30 days. Ummm. What?? They won't handle any calls. It's only online. They write back stating that my claim is related to a prior claim 1 year ago (which was also denied) since "frame" was selected from the drop-down menu which was the same category as a claim last year.. Even though completely different parts of the couch. I had another claim on there as well for the loveseat, denied for the same reason.. Out of time frame?? Because they are also considering the loveseat as part of a claim last year?? I wrote a letter of dispute and they responded with "you stayed these damages happened over 60 days ago". WHAT??! No I didn't!

    I have been arguing that the damages occurred within 30 days of reporting it. Now I can't dispute it again. You get 1 chance and they don't pay attention to what was said and they won't call for a discussion. The denial was completely unjustified and they won't even attempt to understand what is actually going on. Absolutely worst company I've ever had to deal with!!!

    DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!! It's a horrible place to go especially for a phone replacement. They lost my phone at their warehouse and expect me to pay for it. But an associate said it was scanned in. The supervisor hung up on me and they are having me wait for the run around and the lack of organization they have is absurd.

    I'm glad there is a service such as Assurant. In past times you would have to pay full price for a replacement phone. The only issue is that after paying the monthly installment for the insurance, to then have to pay another $100, is a bit steep.     I received my replacement phone on time, just as promised. Then I tried to activate the replacement and it was not prepared for activation correctly by Assurant. I had to go thru all the activation steps and troubleshooting on a separate phone with Xfinity. This took over 2 hours of back and forth with them. Extremely frustrating. I would normally just ignore and move on but this is the 2nd time in 2 months I've had the same exact experience. The first one took 8 days of waiting for a return call and many confirmations that I had waited out the waiting period for the phone to be activated. Why aren’t these phones being shipped ready to activate?

    In the past 2 months we have replaced 3 phones. 2 due to damage and phone freezing. 1 due to just freezing and not taking a charge anymore. The process was fast and easy.     ABSOLUTE WORST COMPANY EVER. They claim the “wrong number” was filed for a lost device WHICH IS NOT TRUE. We filed for my fiancé's stolen phone. Went to t-mobile which they turned on WITH THE STOLEn PHONE'S NUMBER. Then 4 days ago 9/5/24 Assurant TURNED MY PHONE OFF. Completely different number and device. I’m on day 4 of having a blocked phone. No one can fix the issue or wants to fix the issue. I’ve been hung up on 3 TIMES by two representatives AND A SUPERVISOR.

    What a joke this company is. PLUS we had to REFILE a claim because this company can’t seem to get it together and spent ANOTHER $249 for the claim to get my phone unblocked. Absolutely THE WORST service ever and customer service. The only person who was actually help was a woman named Jay who took the time to actually help fix this issue that was cause by ASSURANT. I will never in my life deal with them again. They SUCK SUCK SUCK. If I could give them -1000000 stars I would.

    Since May 14, 2024 I’ve been going through with this company. First off record every call from the beginning. You will thank me later. Still after I have turn in my receipts and pictures they still haven’t paid out on everything. They keep saying resend something I’ve resent 10 plus time. My daughter had to live in Airbnb for over a month. We was advised by the adjuster to just keep receipts. When I turned in information now they saying something different. I’m going to write a review every day on every site because the people need to know. When they give you a call don’t be fooled by the kind talk. Record conversation at all time. They lie and they don’t want to pay. Run now. It will save you headache later down road. It has cause my stress level to rise. I’m looking into a lawyer to sue for distress and causing my depression to be 10 times greater. Lots of night with no sleep lots of days no food. Just stress.

    After posting my review about my situation, I was contacted fairly quickly. Assurant agreed to refund the amount they had charged me. I waited until I saw the refund in my account before updating my review. This is because I had previously been informed twice that I would get a refund, before I was informed by their service people that I would not get a refund. I had to do all of this through chat, and I couldn't get a person on a voice line.

    I also tried to elevate the issue twice, and I believe I was the victim of "circular" escalation, or their service personnel all have the same names. I should not have to resort to posting negative reviews online to get attention. However, Assurant did respond quickly to my review, and they did make it right.

    Original Review: Sept. 6, 2024

    I have been a customer for many years, at least 10 years. I had not submitted many claims in the past. When I dropped my Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 4 and damaged the screen, I submitted a claim. I did receive the replacement device fairly quickly. It took me a number of days to properly switch over to the new device. I returned the old device using the prepaid label. I did not verify the IMEI that was on the documentation and confirm that my phone had the same IMEI. I returned the phone after the 10-day time period that Assurant required because I was still having to complete the switchover to the new phone in the evenings after work. I later learned that Assurant billed me, through my T-Mobile account, for the cost of the replacement phone. I called both T-Mobile and Assurant. They assured me that they had received the phone, and that I would be refunded the $575.99 charge.

    I had sent the old phone on March 30, 2024. They received the phone on April 22, 2024, but billed me at the end of May 2024, even though they had already received the phone. I followed up on August 22, 2024 because I had not yet received the refund. I was again assured that I would get the refund. I checked again on September 6, 2024. This time I was informed that the IMEI on the phone that I returned did not match the IMEI that was on their records. I had never before verified the IMEI on the phone, although the paper work on the T-Mobile documentation did match the IMEI that Assurant had. However, they did now also verify that they had received a phone of the same make and model, that had a different IMEI and had more memory (256GB, vs 128GB that my old phone had).

    They stated that since the IMEI didn’t match, I would not receive the refund. This was the first time such information had been provided to me. I told them that if they would not provide a refund, that I wanted the old phone returned to me. They then informed me that once they receive a phone, it becomes their property, and that they would not return the phone to me. From my perspective, regardless of what their service agreement states, that is outright theft. They did receive a phone of equal or greater value than the phone that I purchased, and they still refused to provide any consideration for my loss.

    I essentially paid T-Mobile and Assurant twice for one phone, and I also lost several hours of my time unsuccessfully trying to get my refund. I will no longer do business with either T-Mobile or Assurant. I know that does not hurt either company, but eventually one or both companies will be hurting in the future, and I will have satisfaction that I no longer am paying for lousy customer no-service.

    I had a claims experience with this company through Xfinity Mobile. It was a simple cell phone claim, damaged device. I paid my deductible of $100 the day I filed the claim and on their fancy portal it showed a new device would arrive the next day. They took 4 days to advise me that a new phone couldn't be shipped and was not in fact on the way. Then I was advised I should go to an Xfinity store to purchase a new device and they would reimburse me in full, which I did. That was a lovely 2.5 hour experience to be "helped" while I had my 3 and 5 year old kids in tow. I needed receipts with very specific information. When I showed the Xfinity team this info, the info from their only insurance provider (Assurant) they told me it was impossible to produce a receipt with that information.

    After a long and arduous process to submit my receipts to Assurant and explain that Xfinity couldn't produce the info they needed, my reimbursement request was finally "approved". I was told I would receive the reimbursement in 5-7 days and to this point is has been 3 weeks and no check has arrived. This company is misleading at best, but fraudulent and incompetent would be more apt descriptions. DO NOT BUY ANY INSURANCE PRODUCTS FROM THEM!

    So I filed a claim 8/25/24 regarding cracked screen. Tried first calling which was total joke!     Horrible service. I accidentally dropped my phone and broke the screen. I filed a claim and was advised that I would have to mail my phone in for it to be fixed. Very inconvenient, as last time I just went to a shop the same day. I was advised the shop in my area that handles Assurant claims did not have my screen in stock, and my only option is to mail in the phone. I was told by a SUPERVISOR that the box to mail it back in will be overnighted by FedEx and she confirmed my address. It took 2 days for the box to ship and THEN they sent it to the WRONG ADDRESS!! (Over 200 miles away) Called back and was advised they will send a new box to the correct address.

    4 days later still no box. I called back again 8/19 and was advised that the previous claim needs to be canceled to issue another box and that it will take 2 business days. Today is Saturday 8/24 and still no box and it has been 3 weeks since I filed the claim. I was told that there is nothing else this company can do as there is no overrides to the system. So I sit here and wait while my phone continues to get worse as I need it for work.

    I purchased a Watch through T mobile and the 360 insurance on the same day. I have been paying for the insurance every month. We lost the watch and this month. I filed the claim with Assurant. They replied that the claim was not approved due to no coverage. They asked for proof of payment for the watch and insurance. I emailed the receipt for both and they are still denying the claim. Not sure how you pay for the insurance and have the proof you pay and they still say you don't have the insurance.

    I have Assurant thru T-Mobile. I filed a claim on July 29, 2024. I paid a $100 deductible in order to get a replacement phone even though I pay $18 month to carry this insurance. I received the replacement phone which was a iPhone 13 Pro obviously refurbished which I understand is how the cell phone insurance industry works. Upon getting the phone it took a few days to transfer my son’s info and then a few calls because we could not clear out the old phone. Fast forward to August 14 when my son who went away to college tried to FaceTime his father and the camera was not working. He was getting errors stating that unknown device detected and stating it was not a recognizable Apple product.

    I immediately called t-mobile because it is next to impossible to find a number for Assurant. They transferred me and Assurant said because I had not reached out within 7 days and the phone was not damaged that I needed now to go thru t-mobile with the extended warranty that they provide for 180 days. What? You just sent out a defective phone that was potentially repaired with non Apple parts and instead of immediately saying we are so sorry and sending a replacement you passed the buck- it makes me think you absolutely know you are sending out junk - 7 days????

    T- mobile has been great through this whole process but this should not be t-mobile’s issue. I even spoke to Apple who stated this was a hardware issue and defective phone & it should have never been sent out in the first place. My advice is to make sure you check out all options on your phone day one because Assurant does not back the phones they are repairing and sending out. They did not even care- They actually got my $100 and as well as my son’s old working phone that just needed a screen replacement. They came out way ahead with both my $100 and an actual working Apple product. Shame on you. Shout out to t-mobile for making this right even though this should have never fallen back on them.

    This is the worst experience I have ever had with customer service. My claim has been approved for 3 days and my replacement device still hasn't shipped. Customer service shuffles you through an assortment of patronizing representatives that offer no help or information. I spoke to 4 representatives, 2 managers, and still don't have a phone or any information when I will get a phone, but I'm sure everyone there is "sorry" I don't have a phone and "just hate it when they don't know what's going on with a tracking number".

    So bad.... the questions to filing claim does not make sense at all. So you better make sure you read it and understand it... Question 1... What is the phone # associated with the account? Is it asking for your phone # or the broken phone #?! I been with T Mobile for 15 years! Pay for insurance & Apple care. When you accidentally drop it... no one wants you to file a claim! And you have to pay more to file a claim. What is the point... This insurance thing is rag! If you have Apple care... no point of getting insurance...     Worst experience ever. Multiple times on phone with numerous customer care reps and even escalated it with T-Mobile on phone with me assisting to make a claim for damaged phone. The rep barely listened. So bad the T-Mobile rep stepped in and stated to end the call and they would send me a new phone to save the continued hassle and disappointment of making a claim.     I filed a claim on 8/10/2024 for a phone I lost in the lake during vacation. What I thought should be an easy fix as I have insurance. It's not, my claim went into a 3-5 day review before I can get a new device shipped to me. This is not my 1st experience with having to wait with Assurant. Received the wrong phone replacement, called multiple times, finally reached someone who assured me if I returned the phone I would get the replacement within the week. I returned the phone with specifics for THEIR mistake and return address, etc. written in a note with the phone. No replacement received. 6 weeks out now. Today finally got the 2nd replacement sent and AGAIN they sent the wrong phone. They notified me and sent a return label but I now have to return the wrong phone again when I receive it and wait for them to send another one! Ridiculous! Terrible company.     Assurant's deductible is $140 for a smartphone, and they send you a used device as a replacement. One can purchase a nice used phone for that amount on the second-hand market. Factoring in the monthly fees paid for the "coverage," one can in fact purchase a very nice replacement phone. It seems there is little benefit to be had from paying "Assurant." Having learned this, the next time they peddle me their false assurances, I will make the better choice, and say "No, thanks."

    This company is complete TRASH. I purchased my phone directly from Samsung brand new and immediately had it insured through T-Mobile. All you have to do is Google T-Mobile Assurant insurance claim under review and you will see how terrible they are, especially if you have phone you brought in vs purchasing through T-Mobile. I have just been on the phone for over an hour waiting to speak to a supervisor and was told, "A supervisor is on the line. Please hold for transfer." and was hung up on. They are really good at taking your monthly payment and even better at dodging you when you need to make a claim.

    My claim is under review currently for the "Security" purposes after being asked to send my ID to them. And there are no other options too other than getting back on the phone to wait who knows how long, so I can be hung up on AGAIN for a 3rd time... TRASH. I'm furious! And if you Google this... You will see people who have gone through 100x more than I and still don't have their screen replaced. It's amazing that companies can take your money like that and you have no power over them providing the services that you're paying for! I can leave.. But won't get back any of years of monthly payments I've paid to them.. TRASH.

    Updated on 08/10/2024: Assurant told Consumers Affairs they left me a voicemail and they are waiting for my response. Well, I did call back and I went straight to a voicemail for Kierra. And since then nobody has reached out. No instructions were given regarding reimbursement or follow ups. Assurant has my $60, I returned back their broken phone, they continue to charge my account $6. Nobody from Assurant has reached out for follow up. I tried to removed the $6 monthly charge from my account but T-Mobile didn't let me do it. So it's a network scam between T-mobile and Assurant people. So now, I'm being charged for a "service" that does not exist, I still have my broken phone that can barely retain charge, and I don't have the option to opt out! I don't have a name for that situation. So anyone who is reading this, be aware!

    Original Review: This Metro by Assurant is a big Scam. I submitted a claim for a phone replacement because my phone is broken. They charged me $60 for a galaxy A14 on top the $6 they are charging me every month for "insurance" in case my phone is broken. They sent a replacement today which is a refurbished phone. I plugged the phone for 3 hours and the battery is still dead. I contacted customer service and they told me that for sure Metro by Assurant is replacing people's phone with refurbished ones. So, they are charging me $6 every month and charge me another $60 for a non-functional refurbished phone! Customer service told me to return again and wait for 49 hrs before I can contact them again. So, they are charging me $6 every month for over a year now and charge me an additional $60 for a dysfunctional refurbished phone.

    It was within 48 hours from the time I filed my claim online til the moment I had the replacement in my hand and live. They even upgraded from the ZFold 3 to the 4. Each step was super easy.     HORRIBLE COMPANY. Filed a claim for a lost phone during a hike and it was later retrieved after the claim was filed. The phone was automatically blocked by the IMEI which is understandable, however the phone that was returned was damaged. I called to ask them if they can do a courtesy to unlock the phone just for one day so that my sister can use it while pertaining to her kids until the replacement phone is being returned.

    They refuse to do it, and kept circling me back with Tmobile which a representative was nice enough to perform a 3 way call to help me do a one time exception on getting the phone to work. Then after that I was denied and was told by DESIREE that the only way to do this is to cancel the claim, and she will unlock it within 24 hours and we will need to return the device to then file a broken phone claim. But what I don't understand is that they were so fast to try to unlock the line if we cancel the claim to start a new one but couldn't do a courtesy of unlocking it until the new phone is home. I don't get it. This company is a scam and they all suck.

    Very difficult company to work with. Have had T-Mobile for 20+ years. Submitted request for new phone as phone got damaged. Paid deductible. New phone was shipped. Sent back old phone in timeframe requested in packaging they sent. Per their records, they received the package on May 5th. As of July 6th they still haven't scanned the phone and have charged me $599. In late June they told me it could take an additional 1-2 billing cycles to remove the charge. Both Assurant and T-Mobile have been extremely unhelpful. Apparently, this happens all the time. No idea how this is allowed. Do not use them for anything. If I could give 0 stars I would.

    I had no choice as to whom I had to trade in my cellphone because Spectrum uses Assurant. I'm guessing these trade-in companies are pretty much the same, but the experience was okay, other than I was only given $10 by Assurant for a phone that was sparingly used for only 2 months! However, Spectrum threw in $100 because I was erroneously told by them that the phone I purchased was compatible with their network; turns out it was NOT compatible, so I had to trade it in, at a loss. However, they did compensate me with a number of credits to my Spectrum services, so I guess I can't complain. Again, the only contact I had from Assurant was minimal ... no phone calls, just 2 emails. I'm a little miffed, though, that I have to wait up to 2 months to receive my $10; I'm pretty sure that the dollar will have depreciated even more by then! (Note that the above mobile phone number is the number for the phone that I traded in.) Thank you!

    This company is Scam that use false advertiaement. My husband bought the insurance package from Costco for his phone. First is the costco salesperson said that if phone get damaged we will get a brand new phone for the coverage. No contract, nothing was presented just a little note on the receipt. Unfortunately, our phone got damaged, so we had to use this insurance. Pain 140 for delivery. They sent us refurbished, scratched and dirty phone. When we called them, they explained that they never promised new phone and sent us the contract that we have never seen before.

    We went to costco and the costco rep called the Assurant to find out why the phone they sent is different colour and scratched and dirty. Who knows how it is going to perform with the level of disinformation from costco and assurant. The assurant isurance person asked us to send that phone back so they can resend the new one. Recently we received the email that they received the phone and the case is closed. The people thought we sent them our own phone back, that's how incompetent they are. Obviously we called again. The lady on the phone had no clue what we were trying to explain and kept repeating some unrelated phrases. Useless rep answering the phone, has no record of previous conversations.

    The contract says "like new condition" which means no scratches and no dirt, or it should say minor cosmetical issues or something. We tried to explain that we need a better phone and the lady rep said she has to charge us 140$. Btw, we did pay 140$ already for delivery. So we had to pay 300 for insurance and 140 for delivery of the crappy scratched phone. For that money we could have fixed our own phone. I will make sure to tell everyone I know not to fall for those scammers from assurant. I would not stop on this website of course.

    My phone stopped working. I have Life 360. T-Mobile got me with Assurant to file a claim to get a new phone. The phone disconnected 7 times and act time having to repeat myself all over again with not being able to complete a claim. Two hours I spent with them. The last agent asked me is I received food stamps. I said, "Why do that have to do with my insurance?" The next agent said I had no insurance then changed it when I got a T-Mobile agent on the line. I could have hung up, went without a phone thinking I had no insurance. Then the agent said I had to go online. When I refused he would not make the claim. I asked for a supervisor and he left me on silent hold for 40 minutes. Horrible. It’s like you pay but when the time comes they make it hard to pay up. I still was not able to get a replacement phone. I asked the agent if he was telling the world we as customers are forced online he said yes. Horrible service.

    It is a bad insurance, they have phones that do not work with IMEI numbers, they sent me two that neither worked, their agents do not give a solution, they respond with recorded audios, they send you to do the same process, send that cell phone and they send you another one, they do that and they can do it 5 times and they do not give an effective solution, very bad service, you should buy cell phones without insurance because it is useless.

    Worst insurance company. I don’t understand why T-mobile still allows them to be on their protection plan. They are THIEVES, I submitted a claimed on June 18, 2024, 2 days later no updates on my status, therefore I called them to check what the deal, little as you know they mentioned to me “we can’t proceed your claim until you provide a picture of your identification.” Very unprofessional from them, if I didn’t called to check on the status, I would have never known it was required to submit my identification. I submitted my identification and called them back, twice they hang up on me and the third time I was told I now have to wait 3 to 4 days to verify my identification. Pure FRAUD with them and they need a lawsuit right away. Various negative rating with them.

    Complete failure at every level! Beyond frustrating experience! I have 6 lines all covered with 360° and it's been 6 days since I've been without a replacement device- Calls, chats, and escalations to Supervisors & Managers without any progress on my claim. As a matter of fact progress went backwards! Unbelievable & trust as soon as possible, I will be canceling service. There are better options then going thru TMobile's insurance carrier for a better experience with getting my devices insured. I didn't even know that I could!     The customer service was poor with the representative I spoke with this time, and the replacement device I received was a downgrade and in poor condition. When requesting a replacement of at least equal value the lady was extremely rude and just did not care to hear what I had to say or to help. She let me know this is the replacement they had available and that I was sent this device so that I would not be without a phone, but the shipment was already delayed 2 days. So overall very poor experience, complete waste of money and a rip off. Even when I looked at trading it in the brand new device they just sent me was only worth $200.00. It would probably equal out monthly payments and $100.00 deductible versus just buying a new phone and not paying for insurance.

    I have inquired about my phone replacement status 3 times because there have been no updates. Each time I have got the same automated apologies, like they are copy and paste responses. Even the response "I can understand your frustration" was an automated response. There was no ETA given by any of the agents, or the supervisor. I pay for this service month, and have paid for the deductible to get my phone replaced. Yet, a week later I have no phone, and still do not have an ETA of when it will arrive.

Even the carrier's reps hang up and gave up with apologies for having such service. I do not recommend this company to anyone. Their service sucks.

    Absolutely HORRIBLE experience with this company attempting to file a claim over my broken phone screen. The insurance advertises same-day repair options and kept insisting on sending me a new phone rather than give me the option to take it to the repair shop, which again, they advertise as part of same-day repairs. I had originally made my claim over a week ago, and was frustrated when they wouldn't let me select a repair shop for same day repair, which I had paid for when I purchased my phone.

    10 days after my phone's screen broke, I finally get it to a repair shop. Their customer service is horribly scripted. I'm sure somebody will hop on this reply with a prescripted "I'm sorry about your experience". No they are not, they want your money and to end any conversation with you as soon as possible. I've seen a lot of businesses down to renting companies trying to get people into Assurant. If you want an insurance company that actually cares about its customers and doesn't run on prescripted customer support dialogues, I highly recommend you DO NOT go to assurant.

    With the price I paid for insurance, the time I waited, the amount they costed me not being able to work by taking their time, I could've bought 3 replacement phones... All they did was cause my trouble through false advertising. They costed me over $2000 in working hours this weekend by not having access to a phone for over a week and added onto my inability to communicate with my clients by taking their sweet, sweet time processing everything. All this because of their false advertisements to offer same-day in-shop repairs.

    I would have NEVER bought their insurance if they didn't offer same day in-shop local repairs. They did not give one ounce of a crap of what they were costing me, do not let the nice lady apologizing fool you. They do not care I even wrote this review, they care about looking good for new customers to screw. They care about LOOKING like they care, but not actually caring. They won't change a thing and they will continue to use this horribly pre-scripted customer support model and predatory advertising scheme.

    My deductible at T-Mobile for one plus ten was $150 every time I checked it for two years, when I lost my phone today (temp problem some Good Samaritan found it and called friend) I found it was $250. Which is TWICE what a refurb (which Assurant uses btw as replacements ) cost on Amazon. I’m an attorney who has worked on major class action lawsuits and I’m thinking it’s time for one against these greedy, deceptive players. Paying $16 a month for years for nothing?     Terrible experience with Assurant!! I have been paying $12 monthly for a year and a half - which now adds up to over $200 - in order to "protect" my Samsung cell phone. Unfortunately it dropped about a month ago and the display was destroyed. So I went to Xfinity, started a claim, and paid my $30 copayment. I was sent to a repair place which didn't service my model. So they sent me to a second place. This time I was wiser and I called ahead. No, they don't service it either. So I was out of luck. They told me I would have to pay $100 for a replacement model. So I thought about it and about all the time I wasted, and asked them to reduce this fee. They wouldn't, so I decided to cancel any future payments.

    2 weeks later I realized my old phone wasn't holding up too well, so I tried to reactivate the claim, this time with a working phone so it wasn't urgent. They gave me a major runaround and essentially refused to help me at all. The folks at Xfinity also were no help. But the worst of it is that the chat team at Assurant keeps telling me my claim was approved, but that I have to call in to make my co-payment. I have tried to reach them 15 times, with no actual person there to field my call.

    This is abusive and one of the most frustrating experiences of my life. So I would at all costs stay away from Assurant. And if you are considering switching over to Xfinity, I would also be careful, since you will get stuck with this horrible company. Even though I have been with Comcast for over 30 years, they were basically no help at all, which surprised me. So when my 24 month agreement is up, I will be leaving Xfinity mobile and heading to greener pastures. Comcast seems to have gotten so large that they don't value individual customers any more, which isn't a good business model. But that's for another review. So take my advice and don't sign up with Assurant. Use Apple care or Samsung care and you'll be much happier. I promise.

    Do not and I repeat do not sign up for insurance through Assurant. Ask your carrier who the insurance is through. I work for T-Mobile. Trust me as an employee when I say do not sign up for it. They do not overnight ship, they do everything to not allow the claim to go through. They send you refurbished phones that do not work and make it a hassle to get a replacement. I placed my order on a Friday est ship time is Thursday the next week. Please explain to me how that's overnight shipping.

    I received a new phone after filing a claim for a cracked screen. I have had the phone for some time now and found out that Assurant never moved it to my name but to an account that is not in good standing. T-Mobile is now refusing to unlock my phone because evidently the phone is attached to an account that is not in my name. When I call T-Mobile they say that I have to call the original owner to get it "transferred" to my name. But I don't know that information as I purchased my phone from a friend and he purchased it in full from One Plus directly.

    Tried filing a claim online, but the deductible wasn't what I expected. I was being charged over 300% more than my deductible stated for the damage to my device (cracked screen). I tried calling to figure it out, but their phone is only a machine which says it doesn't recognize my phone number and then hangs up on me, the multiple times that I called.

    I placed the claim online and emailed them about the issue. They are refusing to honor the contracted deductible for the cracked screen and are saying now the replacement device is being shipped and they won't do anything even though I placed the claim for using the selection that said it was for a cracked screen. Terrible customer service and total scam, in my opinion. I plan on refusing the delivery and contesting the credit card charge and reviewing them honestly/negatively and contacting government agencies regarding the issues.

    Worst company. They cannot replace my phone in a timely manner after 5 day I receive a email saying, "Thank you for contacting Assurant. We regret to inform you that your replacement device is currently on backorder with no estimated time for arrival. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. As soon as your replacement device ships, you will receive an email with your tracking information. Thank you for allowing us to serve you, we appreciate your business." No time frame.     On 4/27 I filed my first claim ever after paying for insurance for 10+ years on every single phone I've owed. The claim was approve and $250 deductible paid with the PROMISE my replacement device would be received via priority service on Monday. That was a lie as today is Thursday and no one can tell me when I'll receive my device and they've stopped sending me updates. Apparently, they don't have any replacements nor can they provide a detailed update beyond that. I suppose they just expect me to wait indefinitely without issue but I use my phone for work and it's now creating an issue.

    I've been in contact with representatives via chat and a phone number provided to me for the last two days. None of them can tell me anything more than I just have to wait. They won't give me the replacement value so I can go and purchase my own phone either so I am stuck in indefinite limbo. - Update: I just finished chatting with a manager who was zero help. I would like to say that the people I have communicated with have been pleasant, even though they are not armed with any real information. @Assurant - I want what I paid for without further delay - I don't care about the problems on your end as they are not mine.     I'm having a super bad experience with a phone that I returned back in October 2023, I did received my the replacement phone in a timely manner, but when I returned my phone as requested but the problem started when the phone got to warehouse it was checked as received & I got my email stating that but they didn't log it in my account so I got billed over $900 on my T-Mobile account. Now we are in May 2024 & I still have those pending charges, my phone got disconnected twice even those I was promised it was not going to happen. Now Assurant wants to put the blame on T-Mobile but if they hadn't put the charges to start with I wouldn't have this problems. They were quick to collect fraudulent fees on my phone account but have been more than 3 months & I don't see the end of this.

    I had submitted a claim for a stolen phone and it was approved immediately, but have been waiting for days for an update. They had told me that the device would be shipped overnight, though it seems it could take up to a week. After learning this, I requested to change my shipping address, but they said that was impossible after making the claim, even though the device hasn't been shipped yet. I told them I would have to spend hundreds of dollars and wait weeks to travel across the country to pick up the phone and they said that they expected me to go back to pick it up.     Dropped my phone into the sea when I was fishing. Filed a claim. Got approved instantly but the tracking number never come the next day as they said.     I filed a claim online, seemed simple enough. Then the return box came and it was destroyed along with the label. After fighting with my carrier and this company I finally get a shipping label emailed after my service got shut off. I sent the package back in my own box, with my own packaging. Package arrives but the phone is still showing on my bill and my service is again going to be shut off if I don't pay the phone in full. I reached out to them again and got told due to staffing issues they need 3 more days. Their staff problems should not be my problem. It's set up so you can't take it to a store for return but mail it in and either pay them ridiculous amounts of money or lose phone service and then get told you have peace of mind because they'll get to it in 3 business days because the first 10 days aren't enough time to do their job. Bad practices, bad scripts and bad customer service!

    The replacement device must be a refurbished device, which is fine - typically. However, the replacement device I received still retained issues, that being the battery itself also should have been replaced in the refurbishing process as it is not up to par. The battery in the new device is of poor quality and dies very quickly, while taking an unnecessary length of time to charge to completely. I wish that if the replacement devices are going to be refurbished that they could at least be restored to an almost new or resembling new state.

    Worst insurance I've ever had. Read the fine print. Constantly late at delivery dates. Sent me to a repair shop that didn't have the right part to fix my phone screen. Got put on a waiting list for 2 weeks. Then when the part came in they wouldn't schedule an appointment with their own repair shop they sent me to. Saying my only option was to pay $99 more and get a refurbished phone. Even though I was standing in the repair shop with the part in hand to get my phone fixed. Would have taken an hour. Then they sent me a phone that was in worse shape than my phone with a broken screen and it was a completely different color. Asked for a refund. Should have went with the free phone insurance from my CU that only has a $50 deductible brand new device guarantee replacement.

    Expensive gut wrenching choice, lesson learned. Also disappointed with TMOBILE for the first time in 20 years. All their reps were indifferent blaming a third party and there was nothing they could do. (You contracted this company and sold me the plan. Stand behind your products and services why dontcha!!!) Sticking with a broken screen phone till jump day. Very disappointed!!!

    I ordered a phone that looked brand new. I noticed that in the battery power settings that the maximum capacity for charge was only 92% which means it was not a brand new phone but refurbished phone then after two days of using the phone, the speakers stopped working for phone calls and it would only work if you put the call on speaker or use your headset. After troubleshooting for an hour with T-Mobile T-Mobile decided to send me another phone directly from them this time, paying for this insurance does not guarantee you were going to get a new phone nor guarantee that the new phone is going to work at 100%.

    I filed a claim over a lost phone. The next day I received an email stating they were experiencing delays shipping devices. A few days went by still no device. I started chatting with Assurant through there website and kept being told they would expedite my claim. A week and a half later I started calling T-Mobile and T-Mobile started calling Assurant and I kept getting told they are expediting my claim it can take up to three days or we are experiencing delays processing your claim.

    Every single phone call felt like I was calling for the first time and still I'm not getting a specific explanation as to what's delaying my phone. Seriously tell your customer what the delay is. Do you not have the device? Does your processor not have the phone? Are they shut down? Are you out of money to pay your supplier? Was the phone lost in transit? What exactly is going on? Are you unable to get the model that I lost? Are you guys trying to save money by waiting for someone to turn in a broken device so you can fix it and fill the claim with a refurbished one rather than buying a new one? At what point will you open your check book and just buy a phone instead of making your customers wait indefinitely for a replacement phone?

    Simply telling us you will submit a ticket to your processor does not help anyone. I finally had a conversation with Assurant with a T-Mobile rep on the line and it felt like "The boss is watching we better figure out what's going on". Finally they called the warehouse because T-Mobile was on the line with me. It took 3 phone calls 2 of which I was hung up on while on hold with Assurant, in one day just to get someone to call the warehouse and ask what should have been asked half a week ago. It turns out there was a delay because their warehouse is unable to scan IMEI numbers. If you can't scan IMEI numbers why haven't you contracted with manufacturers to send new phones directly to your customers until your scanner is working right? Surely a company worth $9.3B can afford to just straight up buy some phones through a third party until the scanner is fixed.

    Square Trade gives better service. If I was Assurant I would change processors. I'm a truck driver, if I was this late and couldn't provide location information to my customers they would not do business with me. At least if I broke down or experienced delays my customers would know exactly why I'm delayed. If I was Assurant at this point I would make arrangements for retail stores to fill warranty claims until the IMEI scanner is fixed.

    This is not the early 2000s, it's 2024 phones are used to verify identity through 2 Factor authentication. The purpose of insurance is to replace your device if it's lost, if people had $500 to $1k lying around to just buy a new phone same day insurance would not necessary. If something is going to cause an extreme delay take the financial hit, cut a check and send them to the store.

    In the end Assurant told me I might get my phone Friday, it's Thursday and still not tracking number. The most T-Mobile would do is credit the account the $50 I paid for my claim deductible. If someone from T-Mobile reads this, this is bad customer service, you are a $192.28 Billion dollar company, surely you could afford to spend some money and work with your stores and authorized retailers to just hand out new replacement phones and reimburse your stores until your insurance is fixed and possibly consider switching to Square Trade.

    This company cares nothing about the customer. My daughters phone was stolen and we used the insurance to get a replacement device, paid the $249 deductible, and the new phone was shipped and received and set up. No issues there, however, the stolen phone was mysteriously returned anonymously to her, and we called Assurant who said that phone was now their property, and we must send it back. Which was fine, we were happy to do that, however they WOULD NOT give us our deductible back. Well - this doesn't make sense, since we paid for the new phone, however, they did say we could send back the new phone, and get service back on the original phone, and get the deductible $249 back that way.

    So we did that, used their prepaid shipping label, and it took 2 full weeks for them to receive the device back, which was 5 days later than the original tracking said it would deliver - thank you USPS. :( Now they've confirmed receipt, but it takes up to 5 days to process the receipt??? Come on this is ridiculous... and during this whole time my daughter does not have an active phone to use. They have a block on the original device that they will not unblock until the process the return phone. In the meantime, she is 22 and is traveling, as well as in a significant time of job searching before she graduates college soon. Needless to say, this is the absolute worst timing. Probably losing job opportunities because they cannot reach her, or confirm interviews, etc. And traveling by car and air is just not the safest without a phone to use. I've explained this to them and they absolutely will not budge on their policy to unblock the original phone.

    I've spoken on the phone with them at least 5 times. Several of their customer service associates were so kind and understanding for our issues, I had one who was rude and completely unapologetic, but the others were very nice, they just couldn't do anything to help this specific situation. It's now 18 days for my daughter to not have phone service, for a phone, that we are paying for on T-Mobile, as well as phone service, insurance monthly payment, etc. I will never again subscribe to this company for our phone insurance, it's not customer friendly.

    DON'T DO IT! IT'S A WASTE OF MONEY. We have been paying for phone insurance for 2+ years through xfinity (which they are a whole other story). When we finally need to use it, we aren't even given the option to repair it vs replace the device. It automatically chose replace device with a RECONDITIONED device...so not even new. We've been waiting for 5 days and keep getting "delayed due to unforeseen circumstances". I requested to change it to repair so we can get it fixed locally since our business relies on having a working phone. They just said no and that we'll just have to wait for a tracking number of the shipped device. They still have yet to give us a tracking number so still no end in sight. I've talked to 3 different people (phone + chat) and they all regurgitate the same thing...then the supervisor Amy, I spoke to shut the chat down on me (no I was not being obscene and didn't swear once lol). I'm so appalled at this company and poor handling of customer issues.

    My phone is broken. I contacted Assurant Phone Insurance via my T-Mobile provider on March 8th and filed a claim; they then charged me $99.00. They shipped my phone on March 11. I never received my phone. I contacted UPS, they told me my phone was at an access center. I called the access center and they didn't have it. They told me to contact UPS, I contacted UPS; they told me to contact Assurant. I contacted Assurant and opened up an investigation. I did not hear anything from Assurant for 2 weeks.

    This morning (March 22) I woke up to a threatening email from Assurant telling me they are going to CHARGE ME $99.00 if I don't return my broken device by March 18th! Not only has the due date passed, but I still have not yet received my new phone! I have been on the phone with Assurant for hours and all they do is keep switching me from agent to agent and saying they won't refund my original payment of $99.00 until they have the new phone in their possession. I don't know where the phone is, UPS doesn't know where the phone is, Assurant IS NOT helping me. T-Mobile won't let me trade in my old phone if it is damaged. That is why I was paying $99.00 to replace it so I could purchase a new phone. Now I am out $99.00 and have to pay full price for a new phone.

    I initiated a claim with Assurant for a lost phone and paid the deductible. The approval came instantly, promising overnight delivery of the replacement device, pending a tracking number. However, the website indicated shipping delays, I have a 2 week vacation trip coming up in 5 days. Upon reaching out to Assurant's customer service, I was reassured that the delay was minimal, expected to be only 1-3 days.

    Today is the third day, there was still no tracking information. Instead, I received a vague email simply stating, "Your replacement device shipment is delayed," without any other updates. I chatted with a customer service representative who informed me that it would take an additional three days from today. This frustrated me as it meant I would be without my phone for the entirety of my vacation. My experience with Assurant has been disappointing. Clear communication about delays would have allowed for better planning on my part. Assurant needs to be transparent with their customers so that we could plan better in such case.

    I've had Assurant for years but there's always something wrong with their agents and or system. Most recently they entered the expiration date on my card incorrectly so of course the payment didn't go through due to their error and they won't do anything to resolve the issue they caused nor did they offer compensation for the fee I've been charged as a result of their mistake. I work in property management and have been referring all residents to go through Assurant but after this experience, I will be telling all our properties to avoid Assurant at all cost.     We returned a phone for replacement but were hit with a $500 bill a month later. Called and found out that the package was supposedly empty. Assurant couldn’t give me proof that it was indeed empty. We followed their instructions and returned it in their packaging and somehow between the USPS and their warehouse it disappeared. After over 6 hours on the phone with them the issue is not resolved. I don’t know how a phone just disappears. It also seems disingenuous that it came to them “empty” yet they cannot provide proof. I am left wondering if someone in their warehouse has some kind of side business going. I am also wondering how often this happens to people that their package, provided by Assurant, come back “empty”. Extremely dissatisfied!!!

I called USPS and they said due to the lithium ion battery, the first leg is by sea and will reach Texas in about 4 - 5 weeks.
