I had called to get a quote not just for my car but for my home as well. Not only was I given a very high quote but was also told they wouldn't insure my home because of the city we live in. Funny thing is they have an office right down the road from me. It made me a little upset so I had asked if they insured the building they were in because they are less than three blocks away. Then after almost two months, I get a letter in the mail telling me that I had to go to a certain address to get a reason why and I do. Guess what you have to pay to get a reason why it was so high and why they won't do a home three blocks away from them. I am someone who already is disabled and part of that is getting out of the home. I had to get out my home to get upset to find out that I still had to pay to get the reason. It made my back hurt a lot more and my head as well trying to figure this out.

Approximately four years ago, my husband and I bought a boat. We were told to bring the boat to the insurance office for appraisal, which we did. We were told by the insurance personnel that this boat was appraised at $27,000.00. So for the past four years, we have been paying on a $27,000.00 policy. Just this May, my husband was coming back from a fishing trip and was ran off the road. Unfortunately, he did not get the license number, the boat jack-knifed and came off the trailer, totaling the boat. While the Allstate adjuster couldn't find our boat in the blue book, he claimed to find a boat that he felt was comparable and we received only $9,000.00. My question to my insurance agent, Peggy **, was "why was I paying a $27,000.00 policy on a $9,000.00 boat?" She tried to tell me that it depreciated.

Now I understand depreciation, but there is no way that this boat depreciated $18,000.00 in less than four years. She said she was talking to a boat company in Florida that was familiar with these boats to get another quote, that was over a month ago. I've been calling several times every week for over a month, she refuses to return my calls and I feel like I've been severely taken advantage of. I also feel that I've been a victim of fraud. Since I was told that I needed to pay for a $27,000 policy and my boat was totaled, I feel that I should have been paid $27,000. I'm frustrated and don't know what else to do. Like I said, I can't even get the office to return my calls. Please help.

I was an Allstate client for over eight years with no claims. All of a sudden, they raised my home insurance from $555 yearly to $1745 and my auto from $380 for six months to over $900. Why? They said they could check credit reports and my bankruptcy allowed them to. That's **.

We had some really bad summer storms. I live in the Deep South so our weather can get bad. We had serious hail damage to the roof and it was leaking in my son's room. The adjuster came out, checked everything out. We were told that we would be given a specified amount for the repairs. We proceeded to hire a company to do the repairs. Once the repairs were completed, the insurance company refused to honor a signed contract and refused to give us the money we were told we would receive. The adjuster said he did everything right and we should have gotten the amount reported to Allstate. I would think this would be a breach of contract.

We have had to go to our bank and take out a loan to pay the company that did the repairs on the house. We are out several thousand dollars. My husband and I are both on fixed income. This has seriously hurt our finances. It's going to be very hard now to get through the summer with what money we have left.

I had a natural disaster. There was a storm and a tree fell on my house. I submitted the claim. Allstate paid, but they only pay what is called " cash value", which is even less than depreciated value. So after all was said and done, I had to pay a lot of money above the insurance check to fix my house and Allstate promptly cancelled my homeowner's insurance. The commercials that say Allstate helps in time of need are false. After a tree falling on my house, the last thing I needed was to have my insurance cancelled. My mortgage company set up Allstate Insurance, I did not select them myself. I use Geico for my auto insurance and have always been satisfied so I called Geico for a quote. It was less than half of what Allstate charged for the same coverage! I would never recommend anyone to use Allstate for any kind of insurance at all.

We had a hailstorm that came through our community and damaged our cars and homes. We have been told by several roofing companies that we are in need of a new roof, but have been denied by Allstate. We cannot understand how a hailstorm can damage our car and gutters but not our roof. They too have not been able to fully explain it either. They are trying to get out of paying for a roof. We have paid them thousands of dollars over the years. We have been with them since 1995, which would pay for two or three new roof. They said that you are in good hands with Allstate, but we are finding out that those hands are for taking your money. We are hardworking people who cannot afford to pay Allstate thousands of dollars and pay the repairs as well. That is the reason we pay for hazard insurance.

First, the stress that this has caused is very hard to deal with sometimes. Because we do not have $7,000 to pay for a new roof, we are being told by several roofing companies that our roof will start leaking and if not replaced, it will cause other damage over time. This hailstorm caused holes in our roof, loose shingles, dents on our gutters and dents all over our car. We are still finding damage all through our community. The roofing companies are saying Allstate should be ashamed of themselves because other insurance companies are stepping in to help their customers and Allstate is the only company within our community that is not doing the right thing. Shame on you Allstate!

I had a leak from the heating and A/C system that ran under the kitchen tile and it was not discovered until it started buckling the hardwood floor in the living room. The leak was found and fixed that same day. Allstate said they denied the claim due to “leakage over a period of time.” And since we didn't know about it and we could not fix it until it buckled the hardwood, it was a null and void claim. Stay away from this insurance company. The agent said that no insurance company would cover a leak like this.

So my question to him was that since we fixed it the very day it was discovered, what happens to all us baby-boomers if we have a cabin by the lake and arrive in May to find that a pipe burst during the winter and flooded everything? Nothing would happen. Why in the name of everything holy have we paid faithfully thru the years just to have the first claim we ever made blown off? In doing research, I find that even the employees are talking on-line about how corrupt upper management is. Let's face it, people, think about how your health insurance has the power of life and death over you by what they will authorize and then think Allstate. Sad as it is, insurance companies rule the world and only allow us to take up some space.

The insurance adjustor came a week after the tornado on April 10. We were told to go ahead and put new roof on house and get broken windows replaced and they would have check in the mail for that much of the claim within 3 days. Since then, they have changed our adjustor 3 times, and the last adjustor came to house and told my husband, along with contractor, "3 days." It was the same as with the first adjustor. It is now July 5, and there's no check for roof or windows, much less all the rest of damage. They make excuses or say they haven't checked e-mail. Not sure where to go from here.

My father is 87 years old and blind. I am his daughter and legal guardian. Allstate is holding $112 as "unclaimed property." I found this information on the website scoweb.sco.ca.gov. The deadline to recover the property is to contact them by 06/01/09 or the assets will be turned over to the State of California. Well the problem is I have called all the above numbers as instructed, left messages on each phone extension and no one returns my calls. When I call, they just say leave a message / name / number and they will return my call. Well that has never happened. I called and left messages on the above numbers on 5/15, 5/19 and today 5/29. I don't know what else to do. It could have been very easy to resolve. They had the wrong street address number and wrong apartment number.

I also called father's Allstate insurance agent on 5/15/09, Juan **, and explained the problem (as they still handle his apartment insurance). Juan said he would send Cathy ** an email. Well I tried calling her today and the message is "She's out for an extended period of time." So I don't know if she will ever see this email Juan sent her until well after the fact.

I purchased house insurance in March of 2009. I changed from and canceled another company, as the premiums were better from Allstate. Evidently, due to an apparent home inspection previously on May 21st of 2009, I received a cancellation notice, stating that due to a broken window in the garage, my homeowner's insurance has been canceled. This is a $20.00 single pane window which was to be replaced by a better type of window. They did not even ask about the window status. I have never, nor did I ever even think to report it as a claim. I contacted the company as to the cancellation and they were to contact me, but they have not. I have used home owners insurance claims twice in 35 years, and both claims were for less than $5000. I also have auto insurance with Allstate and will be cancelling this ASAP.

Our claim was denied. Now here it is May 2009 and my wife and I come to find out that the claim we filed in 2007 is still open on the company's files (Allstate Insurance) and our premium has gone up and up and up due to an open claim that we filed in 2007 and it was denied. I received my homeowner's renewal notice from Allstate in January 2009. My policy rates increased almost $600. Each year, my rates would increase but never by such a large amount. So I notified Allstate that I would not be renewing this year. I used the internet to receive better quotes and I have since received homeowner's insurance from another insurance company for less than the Allstate $600 increase. Now in May 2009, my Allstate agents keep sending me this generic concern letter requesting payment. I called my agent several times regarding this matter, but she will not return my calls. So I called the main number for Allstate and was told my agent did not cancel the policy and that I would be responsible for the premium that is being sent to a collection agency unless I fax a copy of proof of insurance to them. I am going to do that today and hope this will be the end of my relationship with Allstate.

A year earlier, I had a hail claim on my house. They paid about $3,500 for that and $16,000 for the first, but only after I had to make a formal complaint with the Ohio Department of Insurance as they initially only wanted to pay out around $3000. Today (April 23, 2009), I received a notice that they will not renew my policy due to the claims. We had a legitimate claim. They made us deal with an attorney who insinuated that we were out to commit insurance fraud. He employed every manipulative, coercive, bullying tactic that he could. Prior to this our agent attempted to subvert our claim by telling me that we had done all that was required to file our claim while in fact all along time was running out while he withheld information about how Allstate expected us to file in order for the claim not to run past its time-limit to file. He simply sat on the information I gave him aparantly waiting until he could say " oh, too bad you didn't "file" on time." They failed to provide any direction including forms to fill out, finally I submitted a hand written list of stolen items. When they recieved it they insisted that I re-do the entire process in a different format. I had to fly back to the U.S. to assess the loss and they didn't even return my calls for the entire month that I was there just to make myself available to them in person. In the end they dragged out the process for two years and paid us less than half our losses. Besides the financial hardship that it caused us at an allready difficult time (the theft happened just after we had made an international job change that required us to move overseas)The constant beligerant oppositional communication, the insinuation to our friends, neighbors and poeple that we did business with that we were suspected of insurance fraud (Allstate had NO reason to think this) the sense of injustice, the pain of the claim process feeling more like a violation and a crime than the original crime even did, the seemingly never ending battle just just to try to get what we paid for in good faith for all those years, the marital stress as a result of it not resolving, all caused me to feel a daily physical malaise, stomach upset, anxiety and panic-like symtoms which were chronic for more than the two years. I literally feel like those two years came right off of my expected life span.

I call and they say three things. 1. My propane tank is not within a 30 foot range of the home. 2. I have dead branches hanging over the home. 3. I do not meet the 100 foot clearance of trees. I called the county and they said 10 feet is all that is required for a propane tank. The dead tree limbs were a Black Oak tree that looses its leaves in the winter! The required 100 foot clearance is not applicable to our community with many 100 foot Douglas Fir trees. When I pointed out all these error the state office of Allstate said I was in error and to fix the problems or they would not renew my policy. I talked to California Fire Department and the person I talked to said I was the third caller this morning with the same question re the propane tank. He reinterated the California law about placement of a propane tank 10 feet or more from the residence or property line. If my claim is not taken care of in the near future, we are going to the bar association and file a claim against Allstate and we will file a claim in court naming as many people as necessary to get this matter taken care of. I am getting tired of people passing the buck and no on cares about my loss. I need action done on my claim by someone or I will do it myself, and you won't like the way I will do it. I will get action.

I was an Allstate client for 25 yrs. Upon completing my mortgage loan, I contacted my agent (Mr. **) and asked him to bill me directly and not my ex-mortgage carrier. I received the bill and suffered sticker price shock. I had no claims against Allstate in 25 yrs. I pursued competitive bids and found all 3 were less and was pleased to find there was a savings of over $1000 on home and auto ins. I contacted my agent and told him of my findings. I stated I had seen an Allstate commercial where they reimbursed you for being accident free. He stated that I did not qualify for that program and the reason I had higher costs was because I had special insurance. I asked him for more specifics because I was quoted on the exact same coverage as I had and he told me to go with someone else and maybe I did not pay my bill on time (false). I was totally shocked after 25 yrs and want to report this fraudulent behavior. i have since become a member of Farmer's Insurance.

I started coverage on the home and two cars in July 2006. I had no claims until January 2009 and filed a claim on roof damage from wind and hail. Several homes in the subdivision had damage and their insurance paid for replacement of complete roof quickly. In December 2008, the adjuster from Allstate denied the claim. Later, I discovered next door neighbor had similar wind and hail damage and their insurance, Georgia Farm Bureau, paid for complete roof in three days. I requested Allstate to have a different adjuster check the roof.

This time they said that rear half of the roof suffered hail and wind damage and front half of roof had wind damage. Allstate will only pay to have rear half of the roof replaced and the front half of roof re-glued down. I have requested supervisor to come out and recheck roof. Having half of the roof is nitpicking. It will look bad (house is ten years old) and subdivision is covenant protected and will not allow half of the roof to be replaced. Said aesthetics will look bad and color will not match.

I'm waiting for supervisor to have final say. I will advise when that is done.

As far as I am concerned, this claim is still open because I filed a claim. I had a water line on my water heater burst causing the underbelly of my mobile home to fill with water before the underbelly split and I ended up with several inches of water pooled under my home. Not only wouldn't Allstate send an adjuster out to check out the damage, they didn't even have a single sheet of paper in my file and I have been with them since 1999 and the corporate office wouldn't send me a copy of my policy either. All I received from anyone I requested a copy of my policy from was the declaration of coverage which had my make of mobile home wrong, the id number wrong and the year wrong. I don't have a copy of my policy because they never sent me one. But the declaration of coverage says it is all peril standard mobile home policy replacement cost so if anyone can let me know if this should have been covered, it will be more than anyone working for Allstate has done for me. You can bet I won't be renewing with them this year.

When I had finished giving the agent the information, he asked me, "Do you want me to send this out?" And I said yes, expecting to receive a quote for insurance in case my current provider couldn't match. Instead, they sent me a bill as I discovered later by going through my garbage as I had discarded it as junk mail. My current provider did match and exceeded their quote with far more reduced costs.

When first one of their telemarketers called, I explained to them what was going on and requested they stop sending my mail as I was not interested. The harassment continued via mail. I called them and explained the situation to one of their agents and she said she would pass it along. Still, I continue to receive bills. My concern is that they will try to sully my spotless credit rating and it's causing me unnecessary stress. My job is already stressful enough.

The well bib attached to the side of the house and coming out of the ceiling had frozen and ruptured, we think. So, the window well filled up and it came through the windows. This bib was encased in a heated, insulated wooden box attached to the side of the house. Our policy specifically states that it covers structures attached to the house with the exception of windbreaks, fences and lean-tos. Interestingly enough, this happened to us 8 years ago; it was covered without question. When I brought this up to the agent, he replied, "Well, they shouldn't have paid for it." This is 32 years paying our premiums.

Other effected areas were: flourescent lights in the pantry, the refrigerator, deep freeze, home security and electrician fixed a short in the ground wire and replaced the flourescent lights. The UV light cost $1,620.00. The electrician bill was $91.00. The Harvey Drilling tech that took the shorted UV light out cost $100.00 With a deductible of $1,000.00. Allstate owes me $811.20. The claims adjuster says it is a product defect. He does not know this because the UV part was removed from the house because of the short before he evaluated. Allstate is charged with failure to comply with written homeowners deluxe insurance. I want my money and so does Harvey Drilling.

The office staff couldn't figure it out, but it just so happened that almost three years ago, I had my jewelry stolen at the salon I work in. However, They just decided to spike up my rate an extra 40% increase on my homeowners insurance, and didn't notify me or my morgage company who holds my escroll account. I found out they wouldn't except it because they are asking an extra $500.00, when I was paying about $565.00 a year. Anyway, I believe that this is fraud over a claim that happened 3 years ago and now they decide to all of a sudden increase my rate, deny my payment from my morgage company and now I owe a late fee, etc. etc. The claim was only a little of $300.00 and now I'm going to be more than paying for 5 times the jewelry cost!!!!! My house’s roof has been damaged from several severe wind storms and hails that we had last winter and early spring. Initially, I found one shingle on my driveway in April 2008, so I contacted my Allstate local agent, Mr. Michael Felton who recommended and referred me to one of the handyman whom he knows. He told me that only few shingles falling off, it would not be worth to file an official claim or pay the deductible. However, multiple more shingles kept falling off and clearly visible from below, so I decided to file an official claim. So far, Allstate had sent three of their adjusters to my house on three different occasions because the first one did not have a ladder to climb up the roof (my roof is quite steep and high). The second one came with his helper and a ladder. However, he did not visualize my roof himself. After a quick (~5-10 minutes on the roof) examine by his helper, the adjuster dismissively told me that my roof had only 6 shingles falling off and each shingle costs $25, so it would not worth it to file an official claim. He never gave me any estimate. No pictures or photo were taken by his helper. The adjuster never saw the damage evidence himself but based on the second hand information from his helper. I couldn’t recall the names of the first two adjusters since none of them willing to provide me an estimate. I was quite upset and really do not trust what I heard from him, so I contacted Allstate and requested for another adjuster to come to my house and provide me an official estimate. Allstate had sent Mr. Jarret Whisonant, the third Allstate’s adjuster to my house. Again, Mr. Whisonant never climbed up to examine my roof himself. He used his helper whom claimed to be a roofer, to go up, examine and take some pictures of my roof. All Allstate adjusters did not go up on my roof to visualize the damage themselves. All of their assessment are based on some pictures taken by their helper/roofer who took only limited area of my roof and did some sampling examine of my roof to access the degree of wear and tear and average it out for the entire roof. This is a reason I’ve been told that they could not take all photo the entire roof since it’s Allstate manual of operation that could not allow his helper to take too many pictures. Mr. Whisonant has sent me his estimate and authorized an Allstate check in the amount of $502.87 sent to me.
Because of the concerns and mistrusts that I’ve experienced with Allstate adjusters, I decided to get my own assessment of my roof from two independent roof repair experts contractors; one from Bear Roofing company (www.bearroofs.com from Birmingham, AL) and the other one from Continental Roofing Companay, LLC (www.continentalroofing.net from Madison, AL) to come to my house and examine my roof. They both are independent roof repair experts with good reputations and references. Each of them came to do an assessment of the damage of my roof separately and independently. Each of them climbed up the roof and thoroughly examined my whole roof almost half an hour on the two different occasions that I witnessed how my roof assessment had been done. Both of them separately gave me their independent assessments of my roof. I received a separate report from each of them which congruently and clearly state that my whole roof has been damaged from severe wind storms and hails in all the slopes and slabs of my roof. They both independently and congruently recommend that I do need my whole roof repair with whole roof replacement. Since I did not climb up the roof myself and would like to see the degree of the damage, I had asked Mr. Ian Morgan, the roofer from Bear Roofing Company to take my video camcorder with him on the roof and recorded all the damage that he saw on the roof in order to provide me proven evidence of my roof damage that stated in his roof assessment. I’ve also made a CD of the video recording of my roof damage as the proven evidence of my damage roof. I expressed my dissatisfaction of the claim handling. On or about September 6, 2008 and for the third appointment Allstate sent out Jarret Whisonant. Again, Mr. Whisonant never climbed up to examine my roof himself. Instead, he had someone who claimed to be a roofer up on the roof to inspect and take pictures. Mr. Whisonant tried to explain Allstate’s position based on limited roof areas they saw and the limited number of pictures they secured. They did not adequately examine the entire hip roof which comprises of multiple slopes. Thereafter Mr. Whisonant sent me his estimate and an Allstate $502.87 check. The estimate gives no distinction of the damaged area other than 200 sq ft. Contrary to Allstate’s view I have received two separate written reports and estimates from Bear Roofing (options A $7,400 and option B $9,100) and Continental Roofing $8,840). They took time to examine and inspect with exceptional thoroughness. They both independently and clearly identify the extensive damages to the entire roof from wind and hail that inevitably requires replacement of the entire roof. Since the policy that I bought from Allstate clearly spell out the replacement cost which is their selling point that I initially bought the policy. However, after the first and only claim that I filed, our experience with Allstate is horrible. Finally, I have to get some legal advice to help me set up an appraisal process with an umpire to get my roof fix. This whole appeal process is spelled out in the small unreadable print in their policy booklet. However, Allstate is reluctant and unwilling to provide me. So far, I am still in dispute with Allstate and need to get some legal advice to help me set up an appraisal process with an umpire. I would like to file an official complaint and dispute with Allstate home insurance to our insurance commissioner. It is obvious to me that my claim has been dragging for so long since the damage occurred (back in last winter – early spring 2008). I’m afraid that the longer this issue drags on, the higher possibility that it could further create potential damage from another wind storm, and subsequently more severe damage, such as roof leakage, water damage, molding, etc.

We had a major hail storm come through our town and it damaged our siding and roof. The adjuster finally admitted that it did have hail damage...but only to one side of the house and only to some of the roof, not the shingles. They refused to pay to have the shingles replaced even though they are 25 year shingles and have only been there for 13 years. But then it gets even better. Our licensed contractor who has been in the roofing business for 20+ years submitted his cost and the materials to the insurance agency. Allstate is only willing to pay for one third of the actual cost it will take to repair what the adjuster already agreed to as damaged! I'm not sure what store they are estimating their costs from (I asked and they wouldn't tell me), but they said our only recourse is to arbitrate. The Allstate adjuster's letter states, We will work with you to resolve your claim regardless of where you purchase your materials and services. If you find the cost of repairs or replacement is more than reflected in this estimate, please contact your claim adjuster at the number listed above. I called to try to work with them regarding the matter and they told me (in not so nice terms) that my only choice is to arbitrate. So much for good hands.

We own a multi family house and we had a 5 year old tenant set a fire in our 3rd floor apartment. The damage was extensive on the 3rd floor with significant water damage on the second floor. All State gave our claim to an adjuster from Connecticut in order to expedite our claim because the Rhode Island adjuster was so backed up. For the first 7 weeks that this specially assigned adjuster had my case he went on vacation 3 different times for a week at a time. My public adjuster has letters from him apologizing for it taking him so long to get back to him because he was on vacation. My public adjuster has put in a claim, with an detailed estimate, and they have come back with an offer of less than half of what we will really need to fix our house. We told them we disagreed and filed for arbitration, and they are refusing to go to arbitration! It is specifically written into every policy (or should be) that every client has the right to request arbitration if they can't come to a resolution. They have tried to claim that their policy is to only go to arbitration over costs and not over damages. Meaning....if they claim only one wall needs to be replaced, and we think all four walls need to be replaced, they won't discuss the difference between one and four walls, only the actual cost of the one wall they are willing to cover. That is certainly not what arbitration is designed for. We have now hired an attorney with the assistance of our public adjuster and he is filing in court to get a judge's order to force them to go to arbitration. Maybe if they didn't have anything to hide (such as the fact that they know they haven't made me a fair offer) they wouldn't be refusing to go to arbitration.

I called Allstate to ask why I had not been advised of this cancellation. They of course advised me that a letter was sent to me and there was nothing they could do about it. Because my insurance had lapsed for more than 3 months I was required to obtain insurance from another company at $397/mo. In Sept I started looking for another policy and was surprised when Allstate said that they would insure me. Last week my agent called me to advise that my policy was going to cancel on Dec 3 because my property was unsafe. There was no fence surrounding my ABOVEGROUND pool. The only way to get into my pool is to either put a ladder up the the pool or open the patio gate. I called Allstate to advise that they had insured me with knowledge of this since I bought my home and it had been insured by other companies by previous owners without a fence. It was my understanding that an above ground pool did not need a fence as long as there was a gate leading to the deck and there were no outside ladders leading to the pool. To make matters worse today 11/1/08 I received a NOTICE OF OUTSTANDING BALANCE advising that my policy has been terminated and I should send my payment of $42.23. I just received my monthly billing statement last week for the month of November. This was the first knowledge that my policy was being cancelled a month before my original cancellation notice. So instead of having a month to find another policy, I have to act ASAP as I have no coverage on my home.

My garage was hit so bad by the wind that it was leaning to one side. I called my Allstate agent and the company had an adjuster call me. The adjuster came out and said that it would be covered by my policy which I had for 20 years with Allsate. Then I got a letter from Allstate telling me that they WOULD NOT COVER THE DAMAGE since my garage did not have wind braces in it (which are not city code) I called numerous times for months and no one would call me back. I was furious since when I chose Allstate, they came and took pictures of my property (garage included) and took my money for 20 years. If they would not cover the garage without wind braces why did they include it in my policy? My policy was broken down to home and other free standing structures. The sad part is that the estimate to correct my garage was only $750.00 and they refused to pay it - after all the money I paid them for 20 years! We tried to take them to small claims court but by the time we got a court date the city (which has policies with Allstate) said that we were out of time due to the statute of limitations. I requested all my money back for the past 20 years of paying for the free standing structures and they still would not call me back. Why would they put that phrase in my policy and then back out when I had a claim? I think everyone needs to have a class action suit against this rip-off of a company. None of us were in good hands! They should be put out of business (and in jail)for ripping people off of their hard earned money. Allstate is a huge rip-off. They should not be allowed to be in business.

I live in a housing tract that has complete fire protection as there is a State (CDF) as well as a local fire station approximately four miles away and two fire hydrants within one half block of my structure. They, Allstate, claim all trees within 100 feet of my structure (on all four sides of my house) would have to be removed to qualify for renewal (not all trees in question are even on my property) so consequently (by their new standards), I cannot be considered for Allstate fire insurance in the future. I have always paid my premiums on time over these past many years and have had only one small wind damage claim, about 12 years ago. There have been no fire loss of homes in this tract since I moved in back in 1972... They, Allstate, have no past record of this area that would allow them to cancel my policy.

My house is sinking. Allstate denied my claim twice. I pay my insurance premiums. In the year 2000, I noticed one side of my house is sinking and the walls are leaning out as if they are going to fall. The concrete in the driveway also got wet when it rained even though it didn't rain inside the carport. I contacted ALLSTATE and was told that they will not cover my house as it is just clay shrinkage, and not a sinkhole (I have never heard of clay shrinkage before in my life). The damage is the same as having a sink hole by the way, and it also affected my roof as it started splitting at the same time. That makes sense as the house is pulling to the south. Well, I figured there was nothing I could do about it as I am just regular working person. I certainly can't fix that kind of problem, and funny, none of my neighbors ever had that kind of problem.

In the year 2008, I noticed that my 'clay shrinkage' was becoming worse and the roof getting bad. During this time, my neighbor 2 doors down from me had the same exact problem and his was deemed a sinkhole so his insurance paid for everything. There I was, with my house falling apart. I consulted a lawyer who suggested I open a new case with Allstate, so I did. I had to wait all summer for the engineers to get back to my insurance company about my house. They once again told the agent that it was clay shrinkage and was normal. No, it is not normal for the south side of my house to be getting ready to fall. None of my other neighbors' houses are doing that, so how can it be normal? The roof is also worse and it rains inside, I am so afraid the ceilings are going to fall down.

I bought the house in 1992. I have lived in homes for 46 years and never heard of clay shrinkage, neither has ANYONE else I know, anyone!!! My daughter and I now live with someone else and it is not a good situation at all. We used to have a life and now we live in two rooms as we are not allowed to use electricity etc... There we are (It like being a zombie.). We are absolutely heartbroken. I can't sell my house in the condition it is in, nobody wants it, I just want my house fixed, if I can't get it fixed, I will have to foreclose. I will NEVER EVER buy another house in Florida, that I know. Real Estate agents really need to warn people about this 'clay shrinkage'. Florida is not like other states, there are too many water tables etc.. My life is ruined, absolutely ruined.. I want all my premiums back from Allstate as there was no reason to ever have had house insurance, not in Florida anyway. I also think Allstate owes me punitive damages for me and my daughter. I think Allstate owes me big time.

The Monday after the Fourth of July, I came home with my two children to find my house had caught fire and sustained extreme smoke fire and water damage. I was completely and utterly disheartened. The only home my children had ever know was destroyed. MY husband and self didn’t know what to do other than find somewhere to stay the night and survey the damage the next morning. When we arrived to our house, the fire chief was there. He told us to contact our insurance company. We had nowhere to go and we couldn't even take proper care of our children as we had an eight month old and nothing we needed, only the clothes on our back. We went straight to our local agent and told him what had happened. He said that they were there for us and we believed him.

That week Rogers ** meet with us, took a recorded statement and gave us an emergency assistance check - agreed to come, from the difference of our contents compensation. He told us that there would have to be an investigation due to such a large loss. We agreed to everything they asked of us; we wanted to know ourselves. So I met with the fire investigator while he was removing my window unit air conditioner. I asked him if he had any idea what happened, and immediately he started asking questions about smoking in my house and the people I was with the night it burned. I told him everything I could at the time about the nights events of the date the fire happened. Well our additional living expense paid for our hotel at first then our apartment and rental furniture just as they said they would. We had no reason to assume anything was wrong. That is until I received a call after nine o'clock at night by Wilber ** from Allstate.

He asked me questions about the night of the fire - my kids, my marriage, and other things about our life. I thought it odd and asked him why all the question and he told me he was just making small talk and was very polite so I humored him the best I could. Well I told my husband about the phone call, so he called Mr. ** to ask about our claim. Two minutes into the conversation my husband started acting upset and getting loud. I heard my husband tell Mr. ** we had nothing to gain by our house burning down. After the conversation with him my husband told me that they were saying that the fire wasn't due to naturally occurring causes. I was floored! If it wasn't natural causes that only left one thing someone had set it, and due to what I overheard we were the suspects even though we weren't at home when it happened.

We have lost everything except our lives and now this. We called an attorney for legal advice and he told us that Allstate was going to do everything in its power to find a way to make it look like we did it simply because they did not want to pay out on our claim. I don't get it. I loved my home for five years. I put my sweat, my tears, and my love into that house. I had just spent most of our tax rebate on materials to repair things in my home. I was a week away from having the money to pay the contractor to do the repairs and a few minor upgrades to improve the value of our home. Sure we had filed bankruptcy in the past year. We were drowning in medical bills and credit card dept. But that removed our financial burden. What in the world would we gain by doing it. We were just getting on our feet again. We thought that everything was getting better and then the fire.

Aside from my house being broken into repeatedly having to hunt down my stolen property and then take police with me to lay claim to my stolen property, on more than one occasion including after the fire someone had broken my bathroom window out, stolen yard equipment and vandalized my garden prior to the fire, my insurance company has chosen to investigate us. I lost every picture, every ultrasound tape, every single shred of my children’s past from birth till the fire occurred and they have the nerve to insinuate that we had anything to do with it. Just because we have gone through some hard knocks doesn't make us criminals. However to Allstate I've come to conclude we are. It makes me sick people are vultures and my house has become their prey.

For three months we have been put off by Allstate while my house has sustained further damage due to theft and vandalism and even wind damage. We do not have the funds to protect our home from further damage. WE are fed up. How can it be legal for them to do this. Now we have to go do a deposition under oath and everything, and they haven't even started on our home. They are treating me and my husband like trash. I think that they are the criminals and the way they are treating us is outrageous. I hope they do find out what happened just so we can file a slander suit against them. But most of all I just want to take my children home. My three year old son cries every time I stop to check the mail because he doesn't understand why we are home but he can't go inside. I don't know how to explain it to him no matter how I try. We should have been home already. Now we can only assume we may never go home.

WE have obtained a lawyer and my mom told me to fight to the death for what is right. We have also filed a formal complaint with our state insurance commissioner. I pray it helps because from what we have been told so far things could get ugly because Allstate doesn't want to hold up their end of the claim. Allstate customers beware and hope that you don't have a mortgage or bankruptcy looming over your head should you ever need the policy you have been paying on for years. They will make your life a nightmare after you lose everything you love and try to make you out to be the scum of the earth if they can. I will fight and if you buy their insurance you may need to one day as well.

My area (NW Suburbs of Chicago) got hit with a storm on July 2, 2008 and most insurance companies classified it as a catastrophe area. After having 20 or so contractors tell me I had hail damage. I called my Allstate agent and was referred to the National Storm line. They sent out an adjuster in Mid August and my contractor was present to do a walk around. She didn't say much walking around my house and for the roof, she never got off the ladder, basically looked at a 4'x4' area on my garage. She then said she would come back with a supervisor to review the hail damage claim. They came back when I wasn't there and said there isn't hail damage on the siding or roof.

They gave me a check for 500 to cover dents in my air conditioner and cutters. The best part, when they came back to walk around my house, they couldn't have walked around my whole yard because my gates were locked. My fenced in yard covers half my house. I live on a corner lot and my house was most exposed and got the most hail damage. Also, every house in a 10 house radius of mine got roofs replaced and siding done. But my house was denied. I called and complained. They sent a second adjuster out over 2 weeks ago. He walked around and said I have damage and he doesn't know what they looked at. But also said, field operations were already out there and it will be hard to get additional funds.

The 2nd adjuster never looked at the roof, but did come inside to see my new water damage and he took pictures. It didn't rain for a month in my area after the storms, but once it did, I noticed water damage in my upstairs bedroom and kitchen. He told me that someone else will come back and look at the roof, but no one ever did and no one called. In the last week, I've called the adjuster several times, my agent and Allstate field operations, but no one will call me back. And all the customer service reps tell me to call my agent or adjuster. I get the feeling Allstate has to denied x% of claims, and I was chosen. Allstate may still step and pay for damage, but so far it doesn't look like it. I just can't believe no one calls back. Every contractor did tell me Allstate is the hardest insurance to work with for Homeowner claims.

In April of 2008 I filed a claim with AllState for hail damage on my roof. I was not home but allegedly an adjuster came out, with a roofer of his choosing, and stated that I had no hail damage. I took their word for it and that was the end of it. On a side note let me say that I live in a subdivision of approximately 30 homes. My house was the 7th in the neighborhood. I would guess that about half of the neighborhood has had roofs replaced due to hail damage from the April storm.

Fast forward to September of 2008. I have covered a deck and was in the process of getting estimates from roofers to put shingles on it. Three roofers brought it to my attention that I have a significant amount of hail damage. I then called AllState to reopen my claim. I talked with Kyle Wood who is a manager of the adjusters. He informed me that his adjuster had already been out here in April and that he was not reopening the claim and that no one would be coming back out. He just laughed at the fact that I believe I have significant hail damage.

The consequences are that currently I have a severely hail damaged roof. I have been paying my premiums and now that I have an issue AllState is refusing to step up to the plate. I am going to have to incur legal expenses in order to pursue this matter.

We do have one customer who is having a tough time and it seems to me that he has been wronged by All-state Ins. A storm came through in June and his water stopped working. He called and our technicians found his pump needed to be replaced. On examining the pump and taking it apart, Dennis (owner) determined that it was an old pump, but that it had been damaged by lightning. [He] said the windings in the motor were shorted together and thus the pump motor had locked down. When contacted by the customer's insurance company (All-state), [he] was honest in speaking with an All-State rep. He said he couldn't say with 100% certainty that the pump was hit by lightning, but that lightning damage was his best professional opinion as to why the pump stopped working. All-state must have picked up on the fact that the pump was old and saw a chance to get out of paying the claim.

The company paid to send the pump to an engineer, who said it was old and not damaged by lightning. All-state denied our client's claim and now he is left with a $1,900.00 bill. [We] spoke with the engineer hired by All-state who admitted the pump could have been hit by lightning but he is paid by All-state so he determined it was just worn out. The pump was old, but it could have worked for several more years or for one more day. Who knows? However, Dennis has installed pumps for almost 40 years and he stands by his finding that the final blow to the pump motor was from the storm. Our client said there's no use to fight All-state.

It makes me angry that this large company is denying a legitimate claim -- especially since this man does not have much money but he has paid his premiums faithfully. I argued with the administrative manager for All-state's southeastern property claims division yesterday on behalf of [our client], but he didn't really want to listen. Dennis did insist that All-state's engineer send Mr. Jones pump back to him, so we do still have it as evidence. Is there a legal foot to stand on here. Thank you.

[Client] cannot afford to pay his bill [for well drilling company for repairs].

Hello. I am writing on behalf of my mother is almost 70 years old. My mother called Allstate 3 weeks ago in regard to a personal injury lawsuit that was filed against her. She was told at that time that there was nothing that Allstate could do to help her. I have talked to several lawyers since then who are willing to take my mother's case and who mentioned filing a case against Allstate due to their lack of responding and representing my mother in her case. My mother was never notified of a case pending or anything until a few weeks ago when she was summoned to reveal her assets to the court.

Now there is a lien against her property. A default judgment was entered against my mother for not appearing in court because as I stated she did not have any knowledge of a lawsuit. She has been loyal in paying her premiums for the past 15 years and now when she needs representation from Allstate they are telling her that there is nothing that they can do...huh?

I was told by legal counsel that Allstate attorneys need to file a motion to get this judgment overturned for many reasons. Legally Allstate should provide my mother with some type of legal counsel and we are not sure why my mother was told that there is nothing that Allstate can do to help her. If we do not hear, back from someone in the next day or two we will be forced to bring a lawsuit against Allstate.

The court took all my mother's money from her accounts. How can someone sue a person and be awarded a judgment without evere serving the person that is being sued? I just don't get that at all.

On 5/20/2008 our neighborhood was hit by a tornado. It has been declared a disaster area by the Federal Government. Our roof was damged by the hail. Allstate to which I pay for a DELUXE Homeowners policy ( a lot of good that has done me) has fought me tooth and nail over what they consider damage.Of the 380 homes in the neighborhood over 75% so far have recieved a new complete new roof and new roofs being installed daily. State Farm requires 8 hale hits per side of roof to qualify for a new roof and Allsate requires 14. Quite a difference in criteria!

I have had three different roofing companies come look at my roof and all three including Allstate themselves say the whole roof is damged. Allstate however says that the back side of my house is not damaged enough to meet their criteria as to be replaced and should be repaired. So they have agreed to replace 3/4 my roof with new shingles and patch the remaining 1/4. The front of my roof is now going to be a different color than the rear due to the age differance of the shingles. My homeowners assocation is telling me this will go against the covenants of the neighborhood and I will be in violation and subject to fines until I pay to have both sides match.

The only people in my neighborhood that are having problems getting new roofs are Allstate customers. Everyone of my immediate neighbors has either recieved a new roof or is scheduled to get one in the coming weeks. I am filing a complaint with my states insurance commissioner for this vast difference in required criteria and just plain bad faith in Allstates business practices.

My home is going to take a huge loss in value should I want to sell due to the fact that my roof is going to be different colors in several different places.

I had a new refrigerator installed. At that time I did not have the extra money to pay for the one that had an automatic ice maker as the previous one had. The man who installed the new refrigerator didn't cut the little hose off that runs the water into the freezer to make the ice. It slowly dripped until one night I got up to go to the bath room. The carpet was soaked. Of course, I called Allstate. At that point I didn't know the cause. The investigator came out and discovered the cause of the damage -- the tube was left on for the previous ice maker. They, in turn, filed suit against the company I bought the refrigerator.

I am confident that AllState KNEW that the water from the kitchen traveled across the flooring in my utility room, and seeped into the hallway leading to by bedroom; and collected the damage for that. HOWEVER, AllState only paid me for the damage in the bathroom. Like a fool, at the time I trusted AllState and thought the problem had been taken care of. Put new floor and carpet in the bathroom. Approximatly a year later, I was walking into my bathroom from the bedroom, and my foot went through the floor. I couldn't understand what happened. About 6 months later, I was walking from the livingroom into the utility room (next to the bedroom and bathroom) and my foot went through the floor.

I am quite sure that the ALLSTATE investigator was experienced and knew that damage was caused initially during the first event. They didn't tell me about it or pay for it to be fixed -- yet, I am quite sure they collected more than I was given to make the proper preventative problems. Years later as of 2008 -- I received an electric bill for cooling my house for the past two summers for $450.00 last year and $350.00 this year. I live in a 16 x 66 mobile home.

Spoke with electric company, and they sent out an auditor. I am cooling under my house due to leaks of rotted wood falling apart making holes so my a/c escapes under the house. THE EXPERIENCED ALLSTATE INVESTIGATOR KNEW about the damage but didn't pay for it. I no longer have ALLSTATE and it has been too many years to go back -- so, I am not sure what to do.

I am now on disability and trying to make it on $714 per month plus find a part-time job when I am physically able to do it intermittently. The high electric bills, and repairing the damage to my home is way out of my financial ability to pay. Yes, I will find a job, but I can't make enough money to repair all the damage. I have no idea what to do.

It was years after that we were told that we could of collected the difference between what we were given and the replacement value after the repairs were completed. If we were given any paper work stating it, it was in the fine print because neither myself or my wife remembered seeing it. Funny thing is, it was another adjuster who came by our shop who told me that I had been screwed.

Allstate first came out checking for damages and said oh there are several shingles blown off but your 500 dollar deductible will cover everything. The supplies alone came out to about 300. Later, after several roofers were called to give a full roof replacement estimate, I was told by about 4 roofers how bad my wind damage was on the roof. Called allstate back to do another estimate/roof inspection.

They came out and noted oh there are shingles missing on 5 sides of your roof. Also several shingles are no longer stuck down. Also there are a couple of small leaks currently. Also there were previously several larger leaks in the roof. They also were sure to tell me the roof was on its last leg. Funny thing is they said They weren't going to replace the whole roof, which was 16 years old. They did say they would pay to replace the missing shingles which they low balled thanks to them providing an all-state employed roofer to do the inspection.

I'm tempted to wait until it all but caves in and then have them replace it. I pay insurance every month for situations like this....then when I need the money I paid them to be put to use...they say no. I ONLY WANT THEM TO USE THE MONEY THEY HAVE BEEN PAID TO FIX THE ROOF. Im not asking them to pay for a whole new house. They have received more than enough money from me to fix the roof. So if I had all the money I used to pay the insurance company back in my bank....I would get it fixed myself.

Leaks, everytime a storm comes and knocks off 500 dollars worth of damage. I get forced to pay my deductible....so after about 5 good storms I will have paid about 2500....so much for a deductible being 500 dollars.

We had our fridge water supply line break in the middle of the night and flood our kitchen, dining room, and hallway. We have laminate flooring throughout the house kitchen, hallway, dining room and living room. It is all one continuous piece. Allstate sent a company out to dry up the house. The company was called Servpro. Servpro came out and ripped up the laminate flooring and toe kicks in the kitchen. They drilled holes in the walls in the kitchen and dining room. They went under the house pulled down the insulation under the fridge and set fans under the house also. They sucked up as much of the water as they could and set fans and dehumidifiers for 3 days. When Servpro was here we asked them if this was going to be covered because we did not want all this damage of ripping things up if not. Rick from Servpro said yes, this was a covered claim and went ahead and did all this. P>

The claim service adjuster John L assured me that this is going to be covered and that they were going to replace the flooring to the kitchen, living room, and hallway. I had talked to John multiple times and every time he assured me that all the damage done from the flood was covered and going to be replaced. On 6/18/2008 Paul E claim service adjuster came to my home said I remember being here and pulled out his computer to look up my records. He said after looking at his files that he was going to deny this claim with the exception of the holes and toe kicks. He said that my husband called him out here in December of 07 for a bathroom floor claim. He pulled up the notes and pictures of this claim and read them to me. He had said that he feels that the flooring was already damaged before the flood so they do not owe us for this. The picture that he tried to claim that was damaged flooring was a picture of my freezer door open of the floor. I told him that is NOT damage that is dirty. I know because I have cleaned that floor for the last year and it was not damaged. This flooring is only a year old.

He proceeded over to the kitchen sink and opened it and said that in December of 07 there was a existing leak under there and that it would have had to come up under the laminate flooring and damaged it so no claim. He said that the linoleum that is under the laminate flooring by the sink has stains under it and that is proof that it was leaking under the laminate flooring. I told him the linoleum was like that a couple of years before we put the laminate flooring down. This is one of the reasons we put in the laminate floor to cover the stains up. He said no and that this is an already damaged floor and NO claim. Now how can they have a company come in rip up my floor and destroy things and say they are denying our claim? They have left our floor in shambles.

My husband did a lot of calling and was contacted by Tim S who left a message to call him back. I called him the next day and he said that he does owe us for the flooring except 16 sq feet because he says my husband said that a 4x4 area was already damaged. My husband did not say the laminate was damaged he said the linoleum was damaged and he had no problem taking care of that 4x4 area of the linoleum. Tim would not listen to me when I told him that is not what my husband was talking about. Tim said they will take care of the laminate only, in the kitchen, hall, and dining room, nothing else like the sub flooring. Tim was implying that I should be grateful for them doing this much.

My argument is that there was nothing wrong with our laminate floor before the flood and Allstate should do the repairs that John L assured me they were going to do. The sub floor in the kitchen is the linoleum and the rest of the house is particle board. The sub floor in the kitchen would not have to be replaced except for a 4x4 area by the kitchen sink. That area is not soft or caving in it is just stained, but the rest of the areas IE dining room and hall way sub floor was damaged from the flood. The living room sub floor was not harmed and would not need to be replaced, just the laminate because it is all one continuous piece. I have got a quote from a contractor after John L told me to and he is giving us a quote of 9,700 for the repairs and telling us we need to be out of the house for 10-12 days for this work to be done. I feel that Allstate is trying to get out of this claim and they are not in the right.

I received my most current flood insurance bill and decided that over $800 was ridiculous since I have lived in the same place for 34 yrs and have never flooded. Unfortunately my mortgage co. has required it and ever since I can remember, we have had problems with Allstate Flood, but there was not that much available.

Now I decided to pay off my mortgage, which I did and I am trying to cancel the flood insurance and they keep throwing obstacles in my path. My Allstate agent told me that all he needed was a signed request in my handwriting with proof the loan was paid off, which I provided. Now Allstate is telling me that they need certification from the mortgagee the the loan was paid off and they no longer require flood insurance and that there is a formal form from Allstate that I need to fill out and sign and have my agent sign, which he claims to never have heard of before, even though he has been in the business for 23 yrs.

At this point, the only consequence is threatening letters and increasing frustration, but I am concerned that it might affect my credit rating if I don't pay for the renewal, which I absolutely refuse to do.

Allstate is one of the worst companies I ever had to deal with. I signed up with them around April of 2008. It seems like nothing went right after that. Shortly (in about 2 weeks) after my policy was started I received a call from the mysterious underwriting department and was told that there is some uneven patching on my roof. I told the guy that I bought the house about 6 months ago and that it was inspected in and out and that it was fine. Also, it didnt look like any of the shingles were blown off or damaged, so the roof must be fine. He told me that they need some kind of a paper from someone certified that would either say that everything is ok or redo the patch Allstate did not like. He also told me that my policy would be cancelled on June 1 if I didnt take care of it.

It was disappointing that I would have to spend money on something that didnt need repair so I called Allstates customer service and later the sales rep that did my policy with the same question Could I just send you a letter from the inspector that inspected the house when we bought it?? Obviously I dont know whether that letter would be enough or not. To my surprise I found out that there was no cancellations, notes or anything else that would say that I need to do anything in order for my policy to not get cancelled (this is where it began). Both, my sales rep and customer service agent told me that they didnt know why it was like that (who is supposed to know???!!!). So, both of them said that they thought it would be ok for me to send the letter from the inspector to the fax number I received (they told me how they felt instead of what the procedure is!!!), they also told me that I should hear from the underwriting department some time shortly after they receive the fax. I was told they are very quick with these things? (never received a response).

I sent over the fax with the paper that said everything is ok with my roof and assuming that I was in good hands? decided that everything would be fine from here. Little did I know how much pain I would have to go through to get nothing useful from Allstate. I called Allstate about 20 times to resolve a number of problems caused by Allstate after this, here are some of them.

Wrong: I was told that if I signed up for easy pay (pay out of your checking account monthly) I would not receive a discount and that I could not pay it off in full
Right: I would receive a discount and there is an option to pay it off in full

Wrong: I was told that both of my policies were on easy pay (I confirmed it with 2 different customer service agents)
Right: only my auto policy turned out to be on easy pay so my home owners turned out to be past due for over 2 months (they told me to ignore those notices because it takes about 20 days for my checking account information to get processed)

Wrong: home owners policy was cancelled because I did not pay for it for over 2 months
Right: it was cancelled because Allstate did not receive pictures of my roof (which was a surprise for me since they never requested them)

Wrong: Allstates customer service department in India can send out proof of your car insurance to your mortgage company
Right: Wouldnt any idiot understand that a mortgage company needs homeowners insurance (I asked them to send a copy of my homeowners insurance, my mortgage company did not receive it twice and kept on sending me notices that said I was violating the conditions of my mortgage)?

Wrong: up until the end of May customer service kept on telling me I didnt have to do anything in order for my homeowners insurance to stay active (thats about 20 phone calls between April and end of May)
Right: underwriting department did not receive what they wanted. Well how in the world am I supposed to know that when customer service tells me there is no way for me to talk to them and that my policy does not have any pending terminations so I shouldnt worry about anything???!!!

Wrong: I faxed a copy of the contract with the roofing company and 2 large pictures of my new roof, it should be enough (that was exactly what Allstate requested).
Right: Allstate says I did not provide enough proof.. what else in the world do I need to do? There is a new roof on the house why cant they come and see it like they did before!? Why dont they notify me that it wasnt enough and told me what they need!?

Wrong: If you are calling after business hours and the customer service rep cannot get a hold of the proper department he/she would submit an email and get a hold of you the next day to inform you about what happened to that request

Right: I had about 5-10 of those, not a single call back even when those promises were made from the management level I happen to have 2 of those # still written down on my paper, keep in mind you will not get these numbers unless you go through trouble and suffering with Allstate:

This list is quite a bit bigger and my time is limited so I will stop here. Bottom line is I received wrong or misleading response from Allstate about 50% of the times I called them. Allstate does not care about their clients. DO NOT FALL FOR THEIR COMMERCIALS BELEIVING YOU WILL BE IN GOOD HANDS WITH THEM. I could push this further and try to resolve more Allstates own issues for them but I dont want to because it scares me to think what would happen if something would actually go wrong with my house or one of my cars.

They stated i do not have flood insurance so i said ok and started to fix the damages, when we connected turned the power to the well pump water was gushing down my walls so we shut off the power. i called allstate again and told them my problem and they said if a pipe is broken it is covered and they will send out a adjuster. The adjuster came out and told me it was not covered the rain and snow water entered between the garage and house I told him i was getting another opinion he said thats is up to me so i called around and found a home inspector that is a mold specialist and he came out and confirmed where the water originated and it was from the pipe being broken

while he was inspecting the house my neighbor had 18 of water in their basement and mine was dry so we called allstate to come out and see what was going on and they told me they could not get anyone out to the house and someone could come out in a week. I was very upset oh and when i called to tell them what the inspector found they told me the calim was closed even after i told them i was getting a second oppinion. So i called the adjusters supervisor and felt i was getting somewhere he reopened the claim and talked to my home inspector and told me to get a plumber out and document it and the plumber concluded it was a freeze break from a draft so i faxed the info.

I was contacted one week later stating to have a contractor and they will bring a contractor and settle the claim. I was very happy till we met up they sent the original adjuster and no contractor he proced to tell me it was not covered because the house was a bad desing, but i have lived there for 7 years and never had a problem with no claims and paid faithfully so how is it a bad design. it would of happeded within the 7 years if it was a bad design, but he said we are standing behind our decision so i called his supervisor and got no answer he is out of is office and can not be reached for another week. Now my house is bilevel home and all the rooms are down stairs i cant live there, and i have done everything i can i hired and inspector and a plumber everything that allstate asked of now nothing is covered.

My homeinspector told me to get a lawyer and do a bad faith claim due to a not paying out on a claim that is real he will back me 100% but from what i have read on line allstate does not pay out and screws their clients now there is $50,000 in damages due to letting the house sit and i have mold everywhere is it wort it to get a lawyer because i cant pay a lawyer and loose and have to pay to get the house fixed.

bilevel home 3 bedrooms destroyed mold everywhere doors all warped carpet, tiles, drywall, wood trims trashed

Well for the first time a couple of years ago some kids broke into the house and ramsacked it and did not take much but some clothes and video games, my parents called allstate and filed a claim the first one in 18 years of paying premium. Well last year my mother noticed that the drains in her house were slow and the washer kept overflowing in the back. She propmtly called a plumber and he did a fix to correct the problem to what they thought corrected the problem...a couple of weeks later called the same plumber fixed it again. Well needles to say another plumber was called to to correct the problem which was a slow leak in the pipes underneath the house.

She called allstate and told them and the so called adjuster came out and said it would/could be covered to get fixed. In the process of pulling all the workers together my father was diagnosed with cancer and died this febuary. When we finaly pulled back together we picked up with left off projects which included the plumbing. After they told my mother to proceed with the work they in the middle of the work Allstate called and had already denied the claim because she let the leak go on for so long. Well since she had the policy for so long and they Allstate sent her the copy of her policy and it stated within the policy that if deterioaton caused water damage that would be covered the claims adjuster to her that she received the wrong policy and he is sending her another on and my bad so to say but still no the claim will still be denied. He also told her that it was against the law to go and reaudit claims.

Now I work for a insurance come that is a household name and no way that re auditing a claim is against the law...the customer service rep said that a claim can be reviewed again. I am so mad at allstate to put my mother through all this right after he husband of 40 plus years passed and to lie to her on top of that. Needless to say I have contacted our legal department for some advise. The customer service there is horrible a phone service person that yelled at my mother and practically cussed her out.

In all my mother had to pay out of her pocket $12,000.00 to pay for the fix. Mind you she quit her job to take care of my father who was retired military and served over 30 years serving this county, so her income was cut in half or less! The $12,000.00 was in her savings for retirement now she had to go back to work.

I strongly suggest anyone NOT to use Allstate. They will do everything possible to keep from paying out for a claim Heres my situation

I just sold my house in Lake Charles, Louisiana. Last year, in June we had a very strong hail storm which made numerous small cracks in the vinyl siding on the west side of the house. As these cracks were long but no visible holes were made I used some PVC adhesive to close it. When the house was put on the market I immediately received an offer. The buyer hired an inspector and in his report he pointed out the issue with the siding and indicated that the roof is severely damage by the hail. The roof damage was a big surprise as the existing roof has 30 years old guaranteed shingles (house is only 10 years old). I remember that after the hail I found a lot of grit from the shingles around the house but it never occurred to me that the roof was severely damaged.

I called two local roofing contractors to perform inspection and evaluate the roof condition and both came back with quotes to replace the roof due to severe blistering caused by the hail. As the closing on the house was approaching in a weeks time I filed electronically a claim with Allstate. Finally after three days I was contacted by the adjuster James Hutson who stated that he cannot come earlier than a week and half from this time. As the buyer already sold her house it was becoming a desperate situation. The explanation of this situation to the adjuster did not make any difference. The buyer was lucky that she was allowed to stay in her house for a week after closing.

On the day of inspection I met the adjuster and after his inspection he stated that siding is damaged on the west side and it was caused by hail. The same damage was evident on both aluminum roof turbines. The roof on the west slope is also damaged with heavy blistering but it was not caused by hail but only manufacturers defect (?). He discredited both roofing contractors as not experienced in making any diagnosis (Im sure that after last hail storm they had a chance to repair many roofs in this area).

In summary Allstate paid only for the siding and roof turbines replacement and nothing for the roof. He condemned the roof and stated that it requires replacement. I hired one of the roofing contractors and paid from my own pocket for the roof replacement before closing. Reading Allstate statements that They're accessible, responsive, knowledgeable and reassuring during a customer's time of need? or ? Prompt, Fair Settlements, Satisfied Customers, Efficient Organization? makes we wondering that managements preaching is not really followed by their employees. There is definitely a big disconnect. I feel that the adjuster was either not qualified or did it on purpose to boost companys profit which according to financial report was $1.42 billion for the last year. I just wanted to warn people and share my experience with Allstate and Im in process of replacing my insurer.

$6700 for roof repairs paid from my own pocket.

They also said that my roof was damaged. My roof wasn't damaged but now it is, due to a hail storm that occured March 15,2008.

I have had Allstate for more than eight years and have never filed a claim for anything. But I filed a claim in reference to the hail damage. I have no high hopes of anything really being done even though my house leaks now. I also noticed that my yearly payment went past $1,000, after receiving a notice that my payments were going up monthly another $23.00. I have tried calling and can never get anyone to answer the phone. The new insurance declaration that I have received after renewing is grossly incorrect.

My home is appraised at $102,000.00 and they have me needing more than $150,000.00 worth of insurance for replacement. They have me with a garage that doesn't exist, also 1500 sq ft of living space when in actuality it is 1650 sq ft. My home is built on a block foundation and Allstate has it as being built on a slab. I have 6 rooms and a living and dining combination, but on my declaration I have eight rooms. There are quite a few more inconsistancies in my insurance file. And again when I try to contact them to straighten it out I can never reach anyone.

We clear out lot each Fall and Spring. All but the spacing of trees are false statements. We do live in a forest, just like we did when we bought the house. We have cut down several trees and other growths, spending thousands of dollars to improve the healthy growth of trees and plants and have planted gardens around the house providing moisture around the home itself. Afte visiting our local Allstate Office in Yucaipa, the agent inspected our property and said that there was no reason for us to be cancelled and he would look into it. After a few days when we contacted him again, he told us there was nothing he could do as trees are within 700 ft of our home. The National Forest is within 500ft of our home, So what has posessed Allstate to cancel us now? My husband is a retired cpo officer with 20years military service to his country, we are law abiding citizens, with exceptional credit and I have lived all my life in California. Now We can't even get homeowner's insurance.

We are concerned that having received such a bogus letter may lead to us not being covered in the event that we are victims of a fire before we can get other insurance. We cannot understand why we would have received a letter telling us that we failed to comply with something that was never required of us or reported to our local Allstate Insurance Office in Yucaipa, Ca. We understand that there were 5 other homes targeted up here by Allstate when all homes in this area that are covered by them have trees within 500 ft of their homes. So, why were we target?

My two car detached garage started on fire and completely burned down, with everything in it being a total loss. I have Allstate's deluxe Mobile Home Policy with replacement Insurance written by an agent by the name of Stephen (who Allstate has since fired). This Policy took effect on 12/21/2005 to the present. On January 22, 2008, my garage caught on fire; nobody can determine how or why, and Allstate hired a Forensic Fire Detective, and he could not either. Allstate then told me that I did not have insurance on my garage. I told them that I had a policy written by Stephen with Allstate, and it had replacement value insurance and for them to show me the policy that I signed with Stephen back in 12/21/2005. The Agent Nancy Larson stated that she could not find it. Two days later Nancy called me and told me that she had found it, and yes I did have replacement value on the content of my garage; but Stephen had not charged the right price, and could I pay the difference of that cost?

The next morning the other Allstate Agent for the structure part of my Garage came out (Eric Rinehardt) and told us that the structure was not insured. I told him that Nancy Larsen told me that she found our policy, and I had replacement value. How could it be that the content had replacement insurance but the structure itself was not insured? He gave us an estimate for Actual Cash Value cost of our 24' 5 x 32' 2 x 8 detached, two car garage with a shop, moving out the debris, and the rear side of the mobile home which had some damage done to it along with my fence: $10,900.00 for the garage and fence, and $2,420.96 for the damage on the mobile home. I refused to take the check for this amount and once again referred him to the policy I signed with Stephen back in 12/2005. He told me Allstate would never have written my kind of Policy because the mobile home was built in 1990 which made it too old. I said that Stephen wrote before Allstate fired him, and they have been taking the premiums out monthly in direct withdrawal from my mortgage company since 12/2005. Allstate has refused to send my a copy of my signed policy, and refuses to pay out the right amount according to my Policy.

It is now 02/13/2008, and today the Pierce County Washington State Department of Planning And Development Service gave me a Certified Notice that the Burnt Structure was Dangerous to the life, limb, property and safety of the public and its occupants and want the building Demolished and all the debris removed on or before March 11, 2008. Pierce County will take approprate actions to secure the area--billing it to us and fining us for not moving forward as they requested. If there is a local Attorney in Tacoma Washington interested in helping out in this matter (WA State's new Law will be in place as of March 2008), and if Allstate losses in court they have to pay 3 times the amount of the claim plus all Attorneys fees. They said last week that they would have one of their vendors do it but they have not returned any of my phone calls.

Allstate cancelled our policy after over 30 years being a customer and making only 1 claim. Then they had the nerve to commission a survey and had the survey company ask us questions like, "Why did you decide to look for new insurance."

We had to hurry to find homeowners insurance, and lost our discount on auto insurance so we had to find new auto insurance.

I have 2 homes in St. Louis, Mo., 1 I live in the other I'm rehabing. The area I live in has a very high crime rate and is infested with gangs. On or about Nov. 9th, 2007 outside the house that I'm rehabing I got into an altercation with the gang members standing outside my house selling drugs, they threaten my life. I went to the Police station and filed a report, later on that evening as I went to a store about half a mile away I was ran over as I exited my car. I went to the hospital, there I filed another police report.

Later on that night while I was in my home someone fired gun shots through my window, I didn't get injured, I went to the police station and again filed another police report. The next morning I was awaken by the police notifing me that both of my homes had been burnt down.(complete lose) At the time of the first fire I was still at the hospital. The adjustor questioned my as if I was guilty, even after proviving proff of my where abouts.

Since the time of the fire I've received $800 as an advance. That was in Nov. I have 3 children, Xmas has came and went. My adjustor has been stringing me alone saying that he's almost done. He has lied on several occations. Me and my kids lost everything that we own. All the money I had was wrapped up in these houses, now we have nothing. Iasked for another advanced but was denied. I seen thier attorney,. He basically said I set my own fires.

This summer and fall my roof was damaged during the many wind storms we had in Missouri. When I noticed the damage, I called my insurance company immediately to have someone come out and assess the damage. From the beginning they were rude and unhelpful. The adjustor they sent out came out without making a time to meet with me to view the damage. He complained because he had called 3 times and I had not answered. I explained I had been to a FUNERAL and had called Allstate prior to leaving to let them know this information. He was rude and seemed completely incompetent when he did the walk through to see the inside damage. He showed up AGAIN without calling first with someone to look at the roof.

At that point I lectured him on his unprofessionalism and called my agent in front of him to complain. I was told by my agent that he would have another adjustor come out to view the damage and I would not need to deal with the adjustor that was at my home anymore. I never heard back from my agent, so I called and left a message a week later and the next day a girl at his office called and left a message stating I needed to talk to the claims department. The adjustor, Lynn Brownlee, told me the roof would not be covered at all because when the roof was installed which was 8+ years ago, it was cut wrong. I have talked to roofing companies and home inspectors and they all tell me that is the insurance company trying to get out of paying. Eveytime it rains or snows the roof leaks causing the ceiling to leak and it incurs more damage. I have emailed people at Allstate and called them and have NEVER received a call back from a supervisor. They seem to want to wear people down.

On December 3rd, 2007, our home burned down due to an electric fire and this whole time we thought we had insurance, but we were late on a payment and now our insurance company, Allstate, says they are cancelling our claim and then they excepted a half a years payment for a home that no longer is there. We lost everything we had, 4 dogs, 3 lizards, a hampster, and many fish and frogs. We have three children to provide for and we have nothing. The house is not salvagable. Allstate played phone games with us from the day of the fire and now they say I am sorry we can't help you after being with them for 9 years.

No home for me, my fiance, and three children.

Please bear in mind, never, ever a late payment as we have had it electronically transferred every month. We received our renewal notice in the mail on Saturday, it went UP by $300 for six months. I called the local office, and they couldn't do a thing about it. It was sorry for your luck -- credit report, blah blah blah. Funny thing is, our credit isn't terrible; not the best as my husband prior to our relationship co-signed a loan and the person defaulted; however, we are attempting to settle this particular debt.

I had prepayed Allstate for one year of insurance on my home. This was an amount of approximately $3200.00 on a new homein Florida which was a very high rate, in June of 2005. After hurricane Wilma I suffered roof damage. An adjuster came out an I made a claim. The cost of the repair was $1800.00- I received only $50.00 and they cancelled my policy in February. First of all I never received a check back for those months and then my mortgage company quickly put a policy on my home with Safeco at the rate of $17000.00 a year which now is being added to my mortgage.

In July, 2007 we found water damage in our travel trailer and contacted Allstate to file a claim. They sent out an adjuster who quickly cited improper maintenance and said that the source of the water was rain water which had leaked through seams that were not properly caulked and maintained. I asked the adjuster to show me specifically which seams were leaking, and he responded that unless they took the trailer apart, they couldn't pinpoint. Needless to say, I disagreed and asked for a second adjuster; he surmised the same opinion. When asked to prove his findings, I received the same response but also got a commitment from him that if I wanted to have an RV repair facility tear down the damage (on my own dime) and could show that this was not the case, they would re-open the claim and reconsider.

I promptly took my trailer to an RV repair facility and asked for them to open up the damaged area and give me their opinion of the source of water. One week later I was called and asked to come look at the damage. Their analysis was that the city water system piping had failed at a joint (in an inaccessible area to a consumer) and had leaked water into the belly of the trailer causing the floor to soften. He explained that this leak would have been sudden and was not related to improper maintenance.

I contacted my Allstate agent and asked that the second adjuster (who made the commitment to re-open the claim) be dispatched to inspect. Instead, they dispatched the first adjuster who took over a week to come to the RV repair facility. He immediately told the technician that he had already made up his mind the first time, and nothing that he would see would change his mind. Allstate once again denied the claim and sent me a letter stating that the second inspection confirmed the initial inspection, and that the RV repair facility agreed with their (Allstate) position.

I contacted the RV repair facility and asked, and was informed that the technician told the adjuster just the opposite: it had nothing to do with improper maintenance. So, here I sit, a loyal (not anymore) Allstate customer for 19 years with a $4,500 repair bill that I think should be paid by Allstate. I think that Allstate has acted in an unethical and deceitful manner and should settle this claim.

This last week my roofed leaked into the bedroom, damaging drywall, carpet and wood. The local Allstate rep told me to have the roof fixed as more rain was on the way. I did. It took the clowns at Allstate over a week to get here. The adjuster was condescending and told me it was due to poor maintenance (house is upscale and only 5 years old). She said the flashing damage was considered maintenance. I have been with ALLSTATE over 30 years with NO CLAIMS and this is how they treat loyal customers. I am canceling. On 8/23/07, when we arrived home, due to seven days' heavy rains, our celing fell in (a portion of the dining room and an even smaller portion of the kitchen). The contractor who came out to temporarily stop the leak stated that when he went up on the roof that evening the wind and rain were so strong it was lifting up the tiles causing additional damage. He was there when the storm was going on; it seems as though his professional opinon would count for something. When the adjuster finally came to our home (in September), he looked everything over and told me that Allstate would cover the entire roof. After leaving my home, he called back and said that he was going to talk to his supervisor to come back to our home. The adjuster and his supervisor came back, and they did not want to cover the entire roof. They said if the contractor would come back, climb on the roof, and show them which tiles were blowing up then we will cover the whole thing. The contractor did not comply so my wife and I have to suffer for their disagreement and personality conflict. This contractor was called after making several attempts to get someone from Allstate the night this occured. We do not know this contractor, and due to the way this was handled he will not be the one getting this work when we do have the roof replaced. We are also questioning Allstate's commitment to thier clients. Please tell me, what is the point in having insurance, if you cannot get the money when something happens? Neither my wife nor I are roofers. We had no idea that anything was wrong with the roof, we had no leaks, nothing. We received a very small check from Allstate for repairs (very minimal), have a $750.00 deductable, and the emergecy service was $750.00. How are we supposed to get the roof repaired? I think that it is all a sham.

This situation has put us under financial distress. Our carpet had to be thrown out (we received a cleaning fee). We already paid additional fees for flood damage and sewer damage. Thank God we were not home at the time, so nobody was physically hurt.

You are NOT in good hands with Allstate!

Even though I was out of state at the time of my house fire, I found out I was GUILTY until proven innocent by Allstate of setting fire to my own home! Allstate denied the claim asserting that I had reason to start the fire because I owed back taxes, or that the fire was started by vandals. The amount of the claim is over $600,000.

I have had to file suit against them with an attorney who's main practice is based around Allstate lawsuits. And since I initiated the suit, I have been dragged into over 27 hours of depositions by Allstate. My family and friends have also been harrased.
