I had a new refrigerator installed. At that time I did not have the extra money to pay for the one that had an automatic ice maker as the previous one had. The man who installed the new refrigerator didn't cut the little hose off that runs the water into the freezer to make the ice. It slowly dripped until one night I got up to go to the bath room. The carpet was soaked. Of course, I called Allstate. At that point I didn't know the cause. The investigator came out and discovered the cause of the damage -- the tube was left on for the previous ice maker. They, in turn, filed suit against the company I bought the refrigerator.

I am confident that AllState KNEW that the water from the kitchen traveled across the flooring in my utility room, and seeped into the hallway leading to by bedroom; and collected the damage for that. HOWEVER, AllState only paid me for the damage in the bathroom. Like a fool, at the time I trusted AllState and thought the problem had been taken care of. Put new floor and carpet in the bathroom. Approximatly a year later, I was walking into my bathroom from the bedroom, and my foot went through the floor. I couldn't understand what happened. About 6 months later, I was walking from the livingroom into the utility room (next to the bedroom and bathroom) and my foot went through the floor.

I am quite sure that the ALLSTATE investigator was experienced and knew that damage was caused initially during the first event. They didn't tell me about it or pay for it to be fixed -- yet, I am quite sure they collected more than I was given to make the proper preventative problems. Years later as of 2008 -- I received an electric bill for cooling my house for the past two summers for $450.00 last year and $350.00 this year. I live in a 16 x 66 mobile home.

Spoke with electric company, and they sent out an auditor. I am cooling under my house due to leaks of rotted wood falling apart making holes so my a/c escapes under the house. THE EXPERIENCED ALLSTATE INVESTIGATOR KNEW about the damage but didn't pay for it. I no longer have ALLSTATE and it has been too many years to go back -- so, I am not sure what to do.

I am now on disability and trying to make it on $714 per month plus find a part-time job when I am physically able to do it intermittently. The high electric bills, and repairing the damage to my home is way out of my financial ability to pay. Yes, I will find a job, but I can't make enough money to repair all the damage. I have no idea what to do.

Roof Damages: The Alstate Insurance Company do not assist customers with claims, when it involves damaged to the roofs. I am inclined to believe evidence exist that clearly indicates that some actions need to be taken to get this Insurance Company to Honor Claims.

Storm Damages that are clearly identifiable. Leak in my home.

Our house flooded during Tropical Storm Allison. The adjuster was quick to tell us to tear out all the sheetrock from 4 ft down to mitigate mold because they would not pay for it. We had flood insurance and our total loss was over 65,000, however after depreciation and deductions we only recieved about 35,000. It was years after that we were told that we could of collected the difference between what we were given and the replacement value after the repairs were completed. If we were given any paper work stating it, it was in the fine print because neither myself or my wife remembered seeing it. Funny thing is, it was another adjuster who came by our shop who told me that I had been screwed.

Not sure, between 20 and 30 thousand by my best guess. We were able to make the repairs needed by doing everything that we could by ourselves and with the help of friends. We used money we were given for the loss of personal property to make up the difference. Our house was repaired but a word to those who suffer the same type loss, make sure to ask if there is any other money that will be paid after the rebuild is complete.

The MAJOR storm that hit northern California back in January totally took out my fence. Allstate paid me a little over $300 to fix fence. My adjoining neighbor's insurance paid for the whole fence. That money didn't even make a dent in getting fence fixed. I'm looking around for a difference insurance company....

I started my homeowners policy with Allstate in August of 2003. The policy was great, and only cost $465 per year. Two years later my policy went up by $100. Last year it was $624. I just received my renewal information last week and it stated that my policy was going up to $961. This is a $337 increase this year alone.

When I questioned them, they stated that this was a typical across the board increase. What insurance company is going to increase your amount you pay by 50% in one year and why? I have seen the news, I know that Allstate is having trouble with claims and underinsuring, but we as consumers should not have to stand back and be victimized as a result of their neglegence. I am currently in the process of cancelling my policy with Allstate. I am outraged by their totally laxed attitude and no solid justification for increasing my policy by such a ridiculous amount.

Several Tornadoes and Hailstorms went through the area over a week period. Allstate first came out checking for damages and said oh there are several shingles blown off but your 500 dollar deductible will cover everything. The supplies alone came out to about 300. Later, after several roofers were called to give a full roof replacement estimate, I was told by about 4 roofers how bad my wind damage was on the roof. Called allstate back to do another estimate/roof inspection.

They came out and noted oh there are shingles missing on 5 sides of your roof. Also several shingles are no longer stuck down. Also there are a couple of small leaks currently. Also there were previously several larger leaks in the roof. They also were sure to tell me the roof was on its last leg. Funny thing is they said They weren't going to replace the whole roof, which was 16 years old. They did say they would pay to replace the missing shingles which they low balled thanks to them providing an all-state employed roofer to do the inspection.

I'm tempted to wait until it all but caves in and then have them replace it. I pay insurance every month for situations like this....then when I need the money I paid them to be put to use...they say no. I ONLY WANT THEM TO USE THE MONEY THEY HAVE BEEN PAID TO FIX THE ROOF. Im not asking them to pay for a whole new house. They have received more than enough money from me to fix the roof. So if I had all the money I used to pay the insurance company back in my bank....I would get it fixed myself.

Leaks, everytime a storm comes and knocks off 500 dollars worth of damage. I get forced to pay my deductible....so after about 5 good storms I will have paid about 2500....so much for a deductible being 500 dollars.

Allstate would not budge on their decision and refused to send out a different adjustor per my request. Is there anything I can do? All my neighbors are getting their roofs replaced. My complaint is against Allstate itself, and not individual agencies. 3 years ago, I was paying just over $1000 a year for homeowners insurance. A year later, the rate went up to $3500 per year. I then decreased my coverage to the bare minimum so my policy went down to $1500 and then increase another $200 within that year. NOW my umbrella policy went from $350 in 2007 to $587.82 and I am totally DISGUSTED at how Allstate can squeeze people for rate hikes all the time.

Allstate Insurance Company is draining me of my money, and I am now looking into alternative homeowner insurance policies in the hope to terminate ALL of my insurance with ALLSTATE.

I received $6,900.00 dollars in reimbursements. I have been their customer for 11 years. This is totally unacceptable, insulting for what we lost, and a crying shame to my family. Alsstat is as bad as the crooks who broke into my home!

Three weeks after the robbery, I received a letter in the mail from Allstate, and I quote: ..we are unable to renew your policy...due to the following reasons: The roof of your dwelling or garage is uneven or wavy, is lifting or buckled... Can you believe this company. Oh I am so sorry Allstate that I was robbed. Thanks for making me and my family get the raw end of the stick on *ALL* accounts. Thanks for not only dropping my account but completely lying to the public about your care for our losses during times of uncontrollable and external dire events. I have until 9/1/08 to find a new carrier.

Oh by the way, they also have been by auto insurance carrier for over 11 years now. I don't have the stomache to do the math that will yield the total amount of premiums I have paid. I am getting sick as we speak. Please avoid this company at all costs. Sincerely burned by all state, not by any fire!

We had our fridge water supply line break in the middle of the night and flood our kitchen, dining room, and hallway. We have laminate flooring throughout the house kitchen, hallway, dining room and living room. It is all one continuous piece. Allstate sent a company out to dry up the house. The company was called Servpro. Servpro came out and ripped up the laminate flooring and toe kicks in the kitchen. They drilled holes in the walls in the kitchen and dining room. They went under the house pulled down the insulation under the fridge and set fans under the house also. They sucked up as much of the water as they could and set fans and dehumidifiers for 3 days. When Servpro was here we asked them if this was going to be covered because we did not want all this damage of ripping things up if not. Rick from Servpro said yes, this was a covered claim and went ahead and did all this. P>

The claim service adjuster John L assured me that this is going to be covered and that they were going to replace the flooring to the kitchen, living room, and hallway. I had talked to John multiple times and every time he assured me that all the damage done from the flood was covered and going to be replaced. On 6/18/2008 Paul E claim service adjuster came to my home said I remember being here and pulled out his computer to look up my records. He said after looking at his files that he was going to deny this claim with the exception of the holes and toe kicks. He said that my husband called him out here in December of 07 for a bathroom floor claim. He pulled up the notes and pictures of this claim and read them to me. He had said that he feels that the flooring was already damaged before the flood so they do not owe us for this. The picture that he tried to claim that was damaged flooring was a picture of my freezer door open of the floor. I told him that is NOT damage that is dirty. I know because I have cleaned that floor for the last year and it was not damaged. This flooring is only a year old.

He proceeded over to the kitchen sink and opened it and said that in December of 07 there was a existing leak under there and that it would have had to come up under the laminate flooring and damaged it so no claim. He said that the linoleum that is under the laminate flooring by the sink has stains under it and that is proof that it was leaking under the laminate flooring. I told him the linoleum was like that a couple of years before we put the laminate flooring down. This is one of the reasons we put in the laminate floor to cover the stains up. He said no and that this is an already damaged floor and NO claim. Now how can they have a company come in rip up my floor and destroy things and say they are denying our claim? They have left our floor in shambles.

My husband did a lot of calling and was contacted by Tim S who left a message to call him back. I called him the next day and he said that he does owe us for the flooring except 16 sq feet because he says my husband said that a 4x4 area was already damaged. My husband did not say the laminate was damaged he said the linoleum was damaged and he had no problem taking care of that 4x4 area of the linoleum. Tim would not listen to me when I told him that is not what my husband was talking about. Tim said they will take care of the laminate only, in the kitchen, hall, and dining room, nothing else like the sub flooring. Tim was implying that I should be grateful for them doing this much.

My argument is that there was nothing wrong with our laminate floor before the flood and Allstate should do the repairs that John L assured me they were going to do. The sub floor in the kitchen is the linoleum and the rest of the house is particle board. The sub floor in the kitchen would not have to be replaced except for a 4x4 area by the kitchen sink. That area is not soft or caving in it is just stained, but the rest of the areas IE dining room and hall way sub floor was damaged from the flood. The living room sub floor was not harmed and would not need to be replaced, just the laminate because it is all one continuous piece. I have got a quote from a contractor after John L told me to and he is giving us a quote of 9,700 for the repairs and telling us we need to be out of the house for 10-12 days for this work to be done. I feel that Allstate is trying to get out of this claim and they are not in the right.

I received my most current flood insurance bill and decided that over $800 was ridiculous since I have lived in the same place for 34 yrs and have never flooded. Unfortunately my mortgage co. has required it and ever since I can remember, we have had problems with Allstate Flood, but there was not that much available.

Now I decided to pay off my mortgage, which I did and I am trying to cancel the flood insurance and they keep throwing obstacles in my path. My Allstate agent told me that all he needed was a signed request in my handwriting with proof the loan was paid off, which I provided. Now Allstate is telling me that they need certification from the mortgagee the the loan was paid off and they no longer require flood insurance and that there is a formal form from Allstate that I need to fill out and sign and have my agent sign, which he claims to never have heard of before, even though he has been in the business for 23 yrs.

At this point, the only consequence is threatening letters and increasing frustration, but I am concerned that it might affect my credit rating if I don't pay for the renewal, which I absolutely refuse to do.

Allstate is one of the worst companies I ever had to deal with. I signed up with them around April of 2008. It seems like nothing went right after that. Shortly (in about 2 weeks) after my policy was started I received a call from the mysterious underwriting department and was told that there is some uneven patching on my roof. I told the guy that I bought the house about 6 months ago and that it was inspected in and out and that it was fine. Also, it didnt look like any of the shingles were blown off or damaged, so the roof must be fine. He told me that they need some kind of a paper from someone certified that would either say that everything is ok or redo the patch Allstate did not like. He also told me that my policy would be cancelled on June 1 if I didnt take care of it.

It was disappointing that I would have to spend money on something that didnt need repair so I called Allstates customer service and later the sales rep that did my policy with the same question Could I just send you a letter from the inspector that inspected the house when we bought it?? Obviously I dont know whether that letter would be enough or not. To my surprise I found out that there was no cancellations, notes or anything else that would say that I need to do anything in order for my policy to not get cancelled (this is where it began). Both, my sales rep and customer service agent told me that they didnt know why it was like that (who is supposed to know???!!!). So, both of them said that they thought it would be ok for me to send the letter from the inspector to the fax number I received (they told me how they felt instead of what the procedure is!!!), they also told me that I should hear from the underwriting department some time shortly after they receive the fax. I was told they are very quick with these things? (never received a response).

I sent over the fax with the paper that said everything is ok with my roof and assuming that I was in good hands? decided that everything would be fine from here. Little did I know how much pain I would have to go through to get nothing useful from Allstate. I called Allstate about 20 times to resolve a number of problems caused by Allstate after this, here are some of them.

Wrong: I was told that if I signed up for easy pay (pay out of your checking account monthly) I would not receive a discount and that I could not pay it off in full
Right: I would receive a discount and there is an option to pay it off in full

Wrong: I was told that both of my policies were on easy pay (I confirmed it with 2 different customer service agents)
Right: only my auto policy turned out to be on easy pay so my home owners turned out to be past due for over 2 months (they told me to ignore those notices because it takes about 20 days for my checking account information to get processed)

Wrong: home owners policy was cancelled because I did not pay for it for over 2 months
Right: it was cancelled because Allstate did not receive pictures of my roof (which was a surprise for me since they never requested them)

Wrong: Allstates customer service department in India can send out proof of your car insurance to your mortgage company
Right: Wouldnt any idiot understand that a mortgage company needs homeowners insurance (I asked them to send a copy of my homeowners insurance, my mortgage company did not receive it twice and kept on sending me notices that said I was violating the conditions of my mortgage)?

Wrong: up until the end of May customer service kept on telling me I didnt have to do anything in order for my homeowners insurance to stay active (thats about 20 phone calls between April and end of May)
Right: underwriting department did not receive what they wanted. Well how in the world am I supposed to know that when customer service tells me there is no way for me to talk to them and that my policy does not have any pending terminations so I shouldnt worry about anything???!!!

Wrong: I faxed a copy of the contract with the roofing company and 2 large pictures of my new roof, it should be enough (that was exactly what Allstate requested).
Right: Allstate says I did not provide enough proof.. what else in the world do I need to do? There is a new roof on the house why cant they come and see it like they did before!? Why dont they notify me that it wasnt enough and told me what they need!?

Wrong: If you are calling after business hours and the customer service rep cannot get a hold of the proper department he/she would submit an email and get a hold of you the next day to inform you about what happened to that request

Right: I had about 5-10 of those, not a single call back even when those promises were made from the management level I happen to have 2 of those # still written down on my paper, keep in mind you will not get these numbers unless you go through trouble and suffering with Allstate:

This list is quite a bit bigger and my time is limited so I will stop here. Bottom line is I received wrong or misleading response from Allstate about 50% of the times I called them. Allstate does not care about their clients. DO NOT FALL FOR THEIR COMMERCIALS BELEIVING YOU WILL BE IN GOOD HANDS WITH THEM. I could push this further and try to resolve more Allstates own issues for them but I dont want to because it scares me to think what would happen if something would actually go wrong with my house or one of my cars.

They stated i do not have flood insurance so i said ok and started to fix the damages, when we connected turned the power to the well pump water was gushing down my walls so we shut off the power. i called allstate again and told them my problem and they said if a pipe is broken it is covered and they will send out a adjuster. The adjuster came out and told me it was not covered the rain and snow water entered between the garage and house I told him i was getting another opinion he said thats is up to me so i called around and found a home inspector that is a mold specialist and he came out and confirmed where the water originated and it was from the pipe being broken

while he was inspecting the house my neighbor had 18 of water in their basement and mine was dry so we called allstate to come out and see what was going on and they told me they could not get anyone out to the house and someone could come out in a week. I was very upset oh and when i called to tell them what the inspector found they told me the calim was closed even after i told them i was getting a second oppinion. So i called the adjusters supervisor and felt i was getting somewhere he reopened the claim and talked to my home inspector and told me to get a plumber out and document it and the plumber concluded it was a freeze break from a draft so i faxed the info.

I was contacted one week later stating to have a contractor and they will bring a contractor and settle the claim. I was very happy till we met up they sent the original adjuster and no contractor he proced to tell me it was not covered because the house was a bad desing, but i have lived there for 7 years and never had a problem with no claims and paid faithfully so how is it a bad design. it would of happeded within the 7 years if it was a bad design, but he said we are standing behind our decision so i called his supervisor and got no answer he is out of is office and can not be reached for another week. Now my house is bilevel home and all the rooms are down stairs i cant live there, and i have done everything i can i hired and inspector and a plumber everything that allstate asked of now nothing is covered.

My homeinspector told me to get a lawyer and do a bad faith claim due to a not paying out on a claim that is real he will back me 100% but from what i have read on line allstate does not pay out and screws their clients now there is $50,000 in damages due to letting the house sit and i have mold everywhere is it wort it to get a lawyer because i cant pay a lawyer and loose and have to pay to get the house fixed.

Well for the first time a couple of years ago some kids broke into the house and ramsacked it and did not take much but some clothes and video games, my parents called allstate and filed a claim the first one in 18 years of paying premium. Well last year my mother noticed that the drains in her house were slow and the washer kept overflowing in the back. She propmtly called a plumber and he did a fix to correct the problem to what they thought corrected the problem...a couple of weeks later called the same plumber fixed it again. Well needles to say another plumber was called to to correct the problem which was a slow leak in the pipes underneath the house.

She called allstate and told them and the so called adjuster came out and said it would/could be covered to get fixed. In the process of pulling all the workers together my father was diagnosed with cancer and died this febuary. When we finaly pulled back together we picked up with left off projects which included the plumbing. After they told my mother to proceed with the work they in the middle of the work Allstate called and had already denied the claim because she let the leak go on for so long. Well since she had the policy for so long and they Allstate sent her the copy of her policy and it stated within the policy that if deterioaton caused water damage that would be covered the claims adjuster to her that she received the wrong policy and he is sending her another on and my bad so to say but still no the claim will still be denied. He also told her that it was against the law to go and reaudit claims.

Now I work for a insurance come that is a household name and no way that re auditing a claim is against the law...the customer service rep said that a claim can be reviewed again. I am so mad at allstate to put my mother through all this right after he husband of 40 plus years passed and to lie to her on top of that. Needless to say I have contacted our legal department for some advise. The customer service there is horrible a phone service person that yelled at my mother and practically cussed her out.

In all my mother had to pay out of her pocket $12,000.00 to pay for the fix. Mind you she quit her job to take care of my father who was retired military and served over 30 years serving this county, so her income was cut in half or less! The $12,000.00 was in her savings for retirement now she had to go back to work.

I strongly suggest anyone NOT to use Allstate. They will do everything possible to keep from paying out for a claim Heres my situation

I just sold my house in Lake Charles, Louisiana. Last year, in June we had a very strong hail storm which made numerous small cracks in the vinyl siding on the west side of the house. As these cracks were long but no visible holes were made I used some PVC adhesive to close it. When the house was put on the market I immediately received an offer. The buyer hired an inspector and in his report he pointed out the issue with the siding and indicated that the roof is severely damage by the hail. The roof damage was a big surprise as the existing roof has 30 years old guaranteed shingles (house is only 10 years old). I remember that after the hail I found a lot of grit from the shingles around the house but it never occurred to me that the roof was severely damaged.

I called two local roofing contractors to perform inspection and evaluate the roof condition and both came back with quotes to replace the roof due to severe blistering caused by the hail. As the closing on the house was approaching in a weeks time I filed electronically a claim with Allstate. Finally after three days I was contacted by the adjuster James Hutson who stated that he cannot come earlier than a week and half from this time. As the buyer already sold her house it was becoming a desperate situation. The explanation of this situation to the adjuster did not make any difference. The buyer was lucky that she was allowed to stay in her house for a week after closing.

On the day of inspection I met the adjuster and after his inspection he stated that siding is damaged on the west side and it was caused by hail. The same damage was evident on both aluminum roof turbines. The roof on the west slope is also damaged with heavy blistering but it was not caused by hail but only manufacturers defect (?). He discredited both roofing contractors as not experienced in making any diagnosis (Im sure that after last hail storm they had a chance to repair many roofs in this area).

In summary Allstate paid only for the siding and roof turbines replacement and nothing for the roof. He condemned the roof and stated that it requires replacement. I hired one of the roofing contractors and paid from my own pocket for the roof replacement before closing. Reading Allstate statements that They're accessible, responsive, knowledgeable and reassuring during a customer's time of need? or ? Prompt, Fair Settlements, Satisfied Customers, Efficient Organization? makes we wondering that managements preaching is not really followed by their employees. There is definitely a big disconnect. I feel that the adjuster was either not qualified or did it on purpose to boost companys profit which according to financial report was $1.42 billion for the last year. I just wanted to warn people and share my experience with Allstate and Im in process of replacing my insurer.

$6700 for roof repairs paid from my own pocket.

They also said that my roof was damaged. My roof wasn't damaged but now it is, due to a hail storm that occured March 15,2008.

I have had Allstate for more than eight years and have never filed a claim for anything. But I filed a claim in reference to the hail damage. I have no high hopes of anything really being done even though my house leaks now. I also noticed that my yearly payment went past $1,000, after receiving a notice that my payments were going up monthly another $23.00. I have tried calling and can never get anyone to answer the phone. The new insurance declaration that I have received after renewing is grossly incorrect.

My home is appraised at $102,000.00 and they have me needing more than $150,000.00 worth of insurance for replacement. They have me with a garage that doesn't exist, also 1500 sq ft of living space when in actuality it is 1650 sq ft. My home is built on a block foundation and Allstate has it as being built on a slab. I have 6 rooms and a living and dining combination, but on my declaration I have eight rooms. There are quite a few more inconsistancies in my insurance file. And again when I try to contact them to straighten it out I can never reach anyone.

This has been very disconcerting. Now I have to find insurance that will be much higher because of the Allstate cancellation.

We clear out lot each Fall and Spring. All but the spacing of trees are false statements. We do live in a forest, just like we did when we bought the house. We have cut down several trees and other growths, spending thousands of dollars to improve the healthy growth of trees and plants and have planted gardens around the house providing moisture around the home itself. Afte visiting our local Allstate Office in Yucaipa, the agent inspected our property and said that there was no reason for us to be cancelled and he would look into it. After a few days when we contacted him again, he told us there was nothing he could do as trees are within 700 ft of our home. The National Forest is within 500ft of our home, So what has posessed Allstate to cancel us now? My husband is a retired cpo officer with 20years military service to his country, we are law abiding citizens, with exceptional credit and I have lived all my life in California. Now We can't even get homeowner's insurance.

We are concerned that having received such a bogus letter may lead to us not being covered in the event that we are victims of a fire before we can get other insurance. We cannot understand why we would have received a letter telling us that we failed to comply with something that was never required of us or reported to our local Allstate Insurance Office in Yucaipa, Ca. We understand that there were 5 other homes targeted up here by Allstate when all homes in this area that are covered by them have trees within 500 ft of their homes. So, why were we target?

I have Allstate's deluxe Mobile Home Policy with replacement Insurance written by an agent by the name of Stephen (who Allstate has since fired). This Policy took effect on 12/21/2005 to the present. On January 22, 2008, my garage caught on fire; nobody can determine how or why, and Allstate hired a Forensic Fire Detective, and he could not either. Allstate then told me that I did not have insurance on my garage. I told them that I had a policy written by Stephen with Allstate, and it had replacement value insurance and for them to show me the policy that I signed with Stephen back in 12/21/2005. The Agent Nancy Larson stated that she could not find it. Two days later Nancy called me and told me that she had found it, and yes I did have replacement value on the content of my garage; but Stephen had not charged the right price, and could I pay the difference of that cost?

The next morning the other Allstate Agent for the structure part of my Garage came out (Eric Rinehardt) and told us that the structure was not insured. I told him that Nancy Larsen told me that she found our policy, and I had replacement value. How could it be that the content had replacement insurance but the structure itself was not insured? He gave us an estimate for Actual Cash Value cost of our 24' 5 x 32' 2 x 8 detached, two car garage with a shop, moving out the debris, and the rear side of the mobile home which had some damage done to it along with my fence: $10,900.00 for the garage and fence, and $2,420.96 for the damage on the mobile home. I refused to take the check for this amount and once again referred him to the policy I signed with Stephen back in 12/2005. He told me Allstate would never have written my kind of Policy because the mobile home was built in 1990 which made it too old. I said that Stephen wrote before Allstate fired him, and they have been taking the premiums out monthly in direct withdrawal from my mortgage company since 12/2005. Allstate has refused to send my a copy of my signed policy, and refuses to pay out the right amount according to my Policy.

It is now 02/13/2008, and today the Pierce County Washington State Department of Planning And Development Service gave me a Certified Notice that the Burnt Structure was Dangerous to the life, limb, property and safety of the public and its occupants and want the building Demolished and all the debris removed on or before March 11, 2008. Pierce County will take approprate actions to secure the area--billing it to us and fining us for not moving forward as they requested. If there is a local Attorney in Tacoma Washington interested in helping out in this matter (WA State's new Law will be in place as of March 2008), and if Allstate losses in court they have to pay 3 times the amount of the claim plus all Attorneys fees. In July, 2007 we found water damage in our travel trailer and contacted Allstate to file a claim. They sent out an adjuster who quickly cited improper maintenance and said that the source of the water was rain water which had leaked through seams that were not properly caulked and maintained. I asked the adjuster to show me specifically which seams were leaking, and he responded that unless they took the trailer apart, they couldn't pinpoint. Needless to say, I disagreed and asked for a second adjuster; he surmised the same opinion. When asked to prove his findings, I received the same response but also got a commitment from him that if I wanted to have an RV repair facility tear down the damage (on my own dime) and could show that this was not the case, they would re-open the claim and reconsider.

I promptly took my trailer to an RV repair facility and asked for them to open up the damaged area and give me their opinion of the source of water. One week later I was called and asked to come look at the damage. Their analysis was that the city water system piping had failed at a joint (in an inaccessible area to a consumer) and had leaked water into the belly of the trailer causing the floor to soften. He explained that this leak would have been sudden and was not related to improper maintenance.

I contacted my Allstate agent and asked that the second adjuster (who made the commitment to re-open the claim) be dispatched to inspect. Instead, they dispatched the first adjuster who took over a week to come to the RV repair facility. He immediately told the technician that he had already made up his mind the first time, and nothing that he would see would change his mind. Allstate once again denied the claim and sent me a letter stating that the second inspection confirmed the initial inspection, and that the RV repair facility agreed with their (Allstate) position.

I contacted the RV repair facility and asked, and was informed that the technician told the adjuster just the opposite: it had nothing to do with improper maintenance. So, here I sit, a loyal (not anymore) Allstate customer for 19 years with a $4,500 repair bill that I think should be paid by Allstate. I think that Allstate has acted in an unethical and deceitful manner and should settle this claim.

I have had to file suit against them with an attorney who's main practice is based around Allstate lawsuits. And since I initiated the suit, I have been dragged into over 27 hours of depositions by Allstate. My family and friends have also been harrased. It has been a year and a half since the fire and will be at least another six months before this goes to trial. My lawyer thinks Allstate will probably try to settle for half the damages.

I had storm damage to my roof and ceiling. Now the Allstate adjuster claims to have lost all pictures, data and information concerning my claim.
