I have paralgesia from the chest down and trouble using my hands. This year I have learned to walk. The sales people stopped at night and I should not have let them in living alone but I had a new bed coming the next day and they said they would scrub the carpet. I don't know what I was thinking. The next day I tried to use it and ended up at the doctors with a sore shoulder. It is way too awkward and heavy and had to have the caregiver in with her vacuum. I was able to do my own with the little one they took. The caregiver told my family so they are having a meeting about controlling my income. I explained to the sales people that I would not have any available money until Nov. so they set the 1st payment for then. My family feels I was taken advantage of and now I understand. Can you please help.

Two salespeople showed up at my door 3 years ago and, despite the fact that I told them I was not feeling well, insisted on coming in to demonstrate this vacuum/carpet cleaner. I ended up purchasing one after they had several conversations (outside) and I have used it maybe 5 times. It is heavy, hard to maneuver, hard to adjust to the different types of flooring and a real pain to use. Today I pulled out my Bissell and it vacuumed my carpet better than the Kirby ever has. I am going to try to sell it, but actually feel bad about doing that because it is a piece of trash.

I have multiple dogs & have had to vacuum and literally comb the carpet to pick up the hair. I got a Kirby and it is by far the best vacuum I've ever used & it's essentially a steam cleaner and vacuum all in one. Here is what I found. The good: It is heavy & industrial. Has great suction, picks up everything & I only have to go over it one time. It has two wheel drive which makes life easier. It can shampoo carpets, pet attachments & more. The bad: It's heavy. Slow transition between tools. It uses bags. The cost: I would not pay over $1200, there is a substantial mark up for the new models similar to cars. Regarding the salespeople, it's like buying anything. Do your research first & present them with facts & more often than not you'll get a fair price.

GO Distributors is the company that sold me a Kirby. Completely took advantage of me... Overpriced me tremendously. I am beyond words of how horrible my experience has turned out to be. Never never never buy Kirby. Very complicated, very heavy and not worth the money and now they won’t allow me to return it because I’m a day and a half over return date. Come on really?

Bought the vacuum close to 2 years ago, it is very heavy and hard to move around the house as well as having to switch out the vacuum head for the hose attachment is not very convenient, plus it has never really cleaned that well. Lately the brush has not been turning and we have tried several time to reinstall to make sure the belt is on. We have not had success. We have called 3 times but have never received a callback. Very disappointed with this whole process. I'd suggest not buying one.

As I'm scrolling reading these comment regarding customers' experience with the sales people, I had a similar experience Sept 11, 2018 in Newnan, Georgia. A woman by the name of Bri who's ** mixed came to my door and ask if she could shampoo my carpet for free due to a promotion. I told her that it wasn't a good time because I was busy, and if we could just schedule for another day. She stated that the free shampoo was only for today and I could really help them out because they get credit for shampooing the houses. She ask if she could call me to set up appointment for later today so I said, "Yes that's fine." I get the call and she says to me that someone will be at my home shortly to shampoo the 1 room carpet.

So Felipe who was Hispanic, shows up and I notice he was carrying a Kirby. He takes the machine out and does his speech and proceeded to demonstrate on my ceiling fans and vents, then he goes to my couch and demonstrates vacuuming, then to my kitchen chairs, and my area rugs. I'm very impressed with the machine as he doing his demonstration. He finally gets to vacuuming the 1 room and he even vacuum the bed which was really weird. He shampoo the carpet which is only a year old, but it did smell good. Afterwards, he ask me what did I think, I told him I like it, but I had to wait for my husband to get here because he was the only one working in the home.

So my husband gets home and by then it's dang there 8 p.m. and he's still in our home. To make a long story short, my husband said no, and the Closer who was from Ukraine, his name was Anatolio was trying really hard to get my husband to change his mind and even went as far as saying, "I talked to my supervisor and he said to discount it from $2995.00 to $1500.00." My husband still said no, and the Closer wouldn't give up, asking my husband all kinds of personal questions regarding his finance and by then my husband is irritated and wants them gone. Finally after 1.5hrs later, they finally leave.

I KNOW THAT KIRBY is responding to these complaints and stating: “...while we aren’t affiliated with our third party resellers...” which is a LIE because as I'm reading through all these complaints, everyone of the complaints are similar and from different STATES, which tells me that KIRBY is training all these harassing Kirby sellers to be aggressive and to lie by any means, using different competitions as their sales pitch. Now I know why KIRBY won't sell to the public, it's because they can have a third party do it for them and then lie and say they're not affiliated with the third party.

KIRBY YOU'RE TRAINING DECEITFUL LIARS AND RUDE THIRD PARTIES. Kirby you should be ashamed of yourself!!! You know YOU'RE AFFILIATED WITH THESE SCUMS and training them... People if you get a knock or call asking to shampoo a room for free. Slam your doors and hang up the phone. They're selling refurbish Kirby not new Kirby. Don't give into harassment from them. I hate even giving them 1 star.

I know the whole spiel Kirby's been around for years and in the last 20 years. Nothing has changed. Not the price, not the product, not the people selling it. I once considered a job selling Kirby but I don't believe in selling something I wouldn't recommend. The product is way to bulky. It doesn't eliminate dust it spread it my partner is a chronic asthmatic and so the it's a health hazard. The price is insane as is the finance. I got so fed up with it I parked it up in the spare room and stopped paying for it. They consequently repossed it which was an absolute blessing and I bought a $500 Shark vacuum cleaner which does a way better job and one I highly recommend for all uses. Car cleaning, house cleaning, allergy sufferers the works but years later the Kirby is still haunting me.

I know have 3 separate debt collection issues #1 the repossesion #2 Bordeaux finance (the company who financed the purchase and #3 Jade financial services who have been allocated the task of recovering the cost. the last two seem to keep changing the prices oh and it's not just a problem for my name but also my partner so under his name the bill is for $3115 with jade financial services and with me its $4130 with Jade with Bordeaux Finance.

I have not clue the amount they have but it does come up under both. Then I read a bill last night for $3600 and my partner opens one last night for $4900. I don't deny that we were under a contract but I refuse to pay any money until that is cleared up and if Kirby is sooo good at what they do perhaps they could drop the amount for all the hassle or clear the damn bill all together as it's an overpriced piece of junk!!! Highly unhappy New Zealand customer.

I answered the door to a man saying that he was starting a new carpet cleaning company and if I would allow them to, they would clean two room of carpet or a piece of furniture for free. He said he was just trying to get his business started and was relying on referrals and recognition of the quality of the cleaning product. He seemed nice enough so I agreed and scheduled the service for the following week. He said it would take about an hour as they would give a demo of how the product worked. Having just recently purchased my home, I thought it was a carpet cleaning service and it would be nice to have a business to call when I needed a cleaning. He comes at the scheduled time and brings in the vacuum and all the gadgets. I felt like I had gone back to the 1950's. What's next? Encyclopedias? So he proceeds to unpack this vacuum and ask me a bunch of dumb no-brainer questions like I'm 6 years old.

The whole ordeal lasts 2 1/2 hours and he comes down in price from 2995.00 to 1500.00. Even going so far as to "call his supervisor to get me the best deal". I didn't go for it and immediately looked for reviews and pricing online after he left. Finding a used one for sale for 300.00 from a private owner and a couple on Overstock.com for around 500.00. I used to date a heating & Air conditioning salesman, so I knew a lot of the tricks they use to make you think you're getting this great one of kind, one time deal. No way! Now after seeing that others had this experience, I am absolutely not buying this product.

Allowed salesman into my home under guise of a lie. 2 hours and three men later, finally purchased the vacuum to get rid of them. Mailed the cancellation form the very next day and phoned the company that I had done so. A week passed and I only heard from the actual salesman asking what was going on. Nothing about my refund. In the following 3 weeks, my phone conversations have gone in circles. The company will not honor the 3 day refund policy because they claim never to have received the piece of mail. I sent them a faxed copy, but they won't accept that because "anyone could just write dates down and fax it." I needed to have sent it prior to the 3 day deadline.

Problem with that is: I didn't know they hadn't received the mail until a week after the deadline and, there isn't a fax number given with the sale information. They keep saying they can't do anything until the "lost" piece of mail shows up proving I mailed it within the 3 days. The issue I have with that is they acknowledge my intent to cancel the sale (phone calls from the salesman) and how do I know they haven't received the paperwork? Their response to that is that they don't "run our company that way." Yet, they run a company that makes a profit on extreme pressure sales. If you are going to purchase the Kirby to get the salespeople out of your house, be sure to send the cancellation of purchase via registered mail so the company can't claim they never received your paperwork.

This is one of the worst sales pitches I’ve ever experienced. Someone knocked on our door at 5pm offering us a free gift; Glade air freshener. We took it and said thank you. The overly excitable man said “This is Tammy and she would like to take a moment of your time to do a quick free floor cleaning free of charge! We only ask that you advertise to your neighbors and friends!”

Ok sure whatever. I expected it to take like 10 minutes. He proceeds to go grab a huge box full of Kirby vacuum equipment and leaves it and Tammy alone with us in the house. He says he’ll be back in just a few minutes. She starts showing us the vacuum and all it can do. I’m like fine. She tells us we’re her last house for the day, and she needs a certain amount of houses on her schedule to get a company trip so she’s VERY thankful we’re letting her do this. She starts vacuuming all my stuff. 1 hour later, she’s still vacuuming. I’m like...uhhhh. It’s nearing 7 pm and she’s still there. This lady has been cleaning our floors for 2 hours and trying to pitch us a vacuum after I’ve made it pretty dang clear we do not want the vacuum.

I finally tell her after 3 hours “hey, not to be rude, but we have a fitness class in like 15 minutes...” and she’s like “... :( ok it would take me way longer than 15 minutes to finish this demo. Ok, let me do one last thing.” She proceeds to carry this vacuum down my hallway and kicks open my bedroom door. She starts cleaning my mattress without asking.

20 minutes passes and I’m Like “um excuse me please we are going to be late” and she’s like “ok let me call my manager to pick me up”. She’s there for another half hour waiting for him. I ask her if this still counts as her final demo of the day, and she sighs and laughs sadly. “No, unfortunately if we don’t finish the 4 hour demo it won’t count”.

He shows up and tries to pitch us the vacuum for another half hour. We tell him no at least 15 times. The price goes down from $2,300 to $700 in a matter of minutes amidst “phone call deliberations” with his manager on the phone. Finally, he says “this is our final offer”. I’m like “no thank you”. He says ok. Packs up the stuff to leave. Then he’s like “can we please take the free gift back? We need it to advertise to other neighbors”. Very odd and wasted 4 hours of my time.

There needs to be changes to the Kirby Vacuum cleaner to go with baby bombers. It’s still too heavy, too big for small home. We don’t need all those parts and be honest when showing them. The Vacuum is too wide. Cut them down for a smaller home. Yes I bought one 3 years ago because it was supported to be easier to handle. I just had both knee replaced and was having to have the hip replaced also. But the Vacuum was going to help me. Well after a long sales talk we got one. Now it sits in a closet because I can’t handle it. It won’t go under my kitchen cabinet but it was suppose to. I bought a Dyson wireless and love it. But if they would ever remodel the Kirby it might be a great Vacuum again.

First of all I do like Kirby. I have had Kirby many years. The guys were going from door to door selling these. I told them to let me see if I could afford this but they were so persistent in me getting it. I was scared and told them over and over. No. But they left the Kirby there. I thought I was just saying I had the vacuum. I did sign the paperwork but told them I could not pay this much for a vacuum cleaner. I called up the Kirby and my bank and told them I felt too pressured to get it. I did not want it. I have not used it. They cleaned the rug but I did not use it. The same day they left it I called to cancelled it. It is in my house but you need to come get it. I cannot afford it. I already cancelled it with the Kirby lady and told her I tried to tell them but they did not seem to care. Just come and get it. I think they used it on another house because it had used rug it’s. I want a written letter I returned paper. I never had a person do that before. I DO Not Want IT. Sorry.

Yesterday I was relaxing in my living room when someone knocked on my door at 1pm. Normally I wouldn't have answered the door when I'm not expecting anyone but I was sitting in view of the front door window so the person knocking on the door could clearly see that I was home. I opened the door to a woman offering me dishwasher soap and initially thought she was a nice neighbor offering a house-warming gift since my fiancé and I had just moved in. She said something about asking if I could review a product for her and that I would get a free cleaning out of it, stating that her partner was finishing up at my neighbor's house and would be over in 10 minutes to do mine.

She left and I was immediately sketched out and quickly started moving any valuables I had out to my spare room as I was nervous these people might try to take something while in the house. I considered leaving my house with my dog quickly while she was gone but within one minute she was already back with her partner before I really had time put away all of my stuff and get out of the house. They come in with this huge box and tell me that they will be using a Kirby vacuum to clean and I knew then this was a huge mistake. They both stank of cigarette smoke and the guy looked sketchy. I tried to be polite and let the guy do his demo but made it very clear I would not be buying from him and I figured he would be gone within 10 minutes. HUGE MISTAKE.

One hour later he is still demonstrating the vacuum and he then asks to go in my bedroom to show off a different attachment. I politely say that I would like him to keep the demo to the living room and that I was not comfortable having him in my bedroom. I was also keeping my dog in the bedroom while he was doing this demo and I did not want to have to move her. He refused to take no for an answer and insisted he had to go in the bedroom for the demo despite me saying several times I did not want him to go there. I even lied to him saying that my German Shepherd in the bedroom was aggressive and may attack a stranger (in reality she's a sweetheart but I was desperate to get this man out of my house) and that didn't work either.

I was extremely uncomfortable with him insisting to go in my bedroom and didn't know what to do. I eventually let him in to clean the mattress but looking back I am really mad at myself for giving in to his demands and at him for continuing to pressure me to let him in despite me clearly saying no. The product seemed fine but I was very annoyed at this point that after repeatedly telling him I was not going to buy from him and could not afford it he would not stop.

I am a 23 year old graduate student with no income, paying out of pocket for my tuition so it should be pretty clear I cannot afford a nearly $3,000 vacuum. The guy would not give up and kept offering me lower deals that I kept declining. Even when he finally was packing up and seemed to be leaving him and the woman came back with 2 more offers trying to get me to buy going all the way down to $800. I continued turning them down and was so relieved when they were finally out of my house more than two hours later. Moral of the story, once these people are in your house they will not leave so don't give them that opportunity in the first place. They do not listen when you say no and will try to force themselves further into your house when you clearly do not want them to. The product itself seems fine but it is way over-priced and I will never purchase one in the future due to their misleading sales tactics.

They came to our house, promising to clean a room for free as long as we advertise this service to our friends and families. At this time we were in the process of finding a cleaning company to come and clean our carpets so I agreed. The older guy said there was a younger guy finishing up a neighbor's home and will get to mine as soon as he can. After an hour, the older guy along with the younger guy comes to the house and brings in all their equipment. I asked them how much it would be to clean a room if we wanted to clean the other rooms. The older guy then says, well they are not an actual carpet cleaning company but are advertising for the Kirby vacuum cleaner.

The older guy then leaves and the younger guys starts handing me all these flyers, how he is trying to win a free vacation if he sells so many of these vacuum cleaners, almost trying to guilt trip me into buying one. My wife finally arrives and she was not interested in listening to any of his sales pitch. He would vacuum one little section of the carpet and shows me how much dust he collected. He would continue doing this for every little section of the living room and took him over an hour, leaving these little pieces of white papers everywhere. At the same time he would constantly engage me in small talk like he was interested in my life. (Keep in mind after I said, "No we would not buy." he stopped talking to me altogether).

Anyways he cleaned the bed in our bedroom and said look at all the dead skin he picked up from the vacuum, which my wife was not really impressed. He initially told me the vacuum would be 2800, but then he would call his boss (which I'm assuming was the older guy), and update the boss that I was interested which clearly I wasn't. He lowered the price to 2100 and gave me an estimated monthly payment. After I said no again, he called his boss again and this time lowered to 1800 and said they are giving me the family discount price. After I said no, he shampooed part of the carpet and said it would dry in 20 minutes (actually took like 8 hours to dry). He packed up everything and left after 3 hours.

I'm glad we didn't get scammed into buying this product, but upset because it took so long after telling me he just wanted to quickly clean my carpet and ending up trying to sell me this vacuum. I felt like I was stuck at a timeshare presentation and there was no way out, since they were in my home. My suggestion is to not let them into your house, unless you have 3 to 4 hours to spare and like your carpet wet without any real change.

Purchased Avalir complete vacuum & shampoo system back in October 2016, and have used the shampooer several times. Let me begin by saying it’s a chore just to lock down lever changing vacuum head to shampooer unit. You have to make sure belt is on roller brush or it will not clean. It's heavy. The Avalir Shampooer is not at all what I expected. You fight the machine just to get the water tank on... Unit does not pick up all the water. You see puddles and streaks and unit does not dispense shampoo evenly. Shampooer roller brush disengaged off unit grinding off one end of roller and damaging inside slot where brush sits leaving behind burnt plastic bits on my carpet.

I had to call Parts and Supplies at 1-800-437-7170, my Shampooer unit is broke “roller brush disengaged” chewing up unit/brush. I need Shampooer head/roller replaced. I spoke with Linda, I wanted to pay by check. "Well as soon as we receive your check will order your parts." I sent check out on July 26th 2018. I had to call. I left VM with Linda - no callback. I called today 8/7/2018, "We have not received your check." “WHAT.” Impossible. Ohio is not that far from California. "If you pay by credit card I can get your order." I’m not using credit card. I sent a check. Bottom line it cost me $20.00 to stop payment on the check. I have no shampooer at this point. No one told me it was this hard to order replacement parts. What difference does it make how I choose to pay. Don’t buy a Kirby.

I purchased my Kirby a year ago. First, you are told you are not obligated to buy. However, when told I didn't want it, I was told they had opened box and could not sell to anyone else, it would have to be scrapped. The purpose of doing the current sale was a promotion to give sales people opportunity to go to professional football game. I was put to the point of feeling guilty if I didn't make purchase. I purchased with much regret. First it's too heavy. I do not have strength in my hands so I am unable to get shampoo attachment in place correctly. I called and received a visit and was told to just use another attachment instead.

In my opinion, this vacuum cleaner is not at all worth the money I'm paying. Most times, I pull my old one out. The bags, are 12.00 for two and have to be ordered. I would sell it but would never be able to get the amount I owe. If I had not felt pressured, I would not have purchased. I was given an opportunity to get a scrap value because of pushing promotion. I had to respond by a certain time. I got dates mixed up, did not receive any type of follow call so missed the opportunity. However, it still, in my opinion, would not have been worth amount.

My experience is not ended yet so I will update when I try to return this vacuum. Had a woman come to my door and say they wanted to clean and they could only get points and commission if I let her in to clean, she just wants to clean for me, after handing me a dollar tree bag of trash bags. I declined, told her I was working and had no time. At that point decent salespeople would back off, but no she kept pushing. By this time my roommate had come to the door and she talked her into letting her in. We had both figured they were selling those non-toxic cleaners which have bought in the past and like. I went back to my home office and the next thing I know when I walk out there is now a man in my house with a Kirby.

Ok for a short demo we will let him show us. It was hours. We told him he didn't need to show us anymore. We were tired and it was now hours later almost 10 pm but he insisted he had to. He was in training and required to show his boss all he did. It became grueling and at that point. and we kept trying to rush him on. My roommate who was not home when I bought my rainbow, was so impressed. Kept trying to explain that the rainbow demo had all the pads and showed us all the same dirt, no difference there. The Kirby has more tools and comes with the shampooing attachment whereas the rainbow it was separate and you would have to refer 3 people who would agree to let the rep do a demo to receive that.

For an hour my roommate kept asking the price, was interested and ready for the demo to just end, everyone has a life and time is money, but wouldn't give it until finished. So hours later he calls his boss, gives an initial offer, then his boss comes in and now I have 3 Kirby people in my house. They are negotiating price when they offer to take our rainbow, shampooer and vacuum to lower the price. NO, I am not stupid, stay away from my rainbow! The red flag of predatory sales practices. Roommate ask them to call her in a few days so she can think about it.

The lady said, "We are only here today, this the only chance we can give you to buy it." So the roommate ended up buying it but we now have company, come visit and these 3 Kirby people who spent another hour in our home and I just wanted them gone! The lady showed no manners or care that I was trying to entertain guest and just kept on. They took the other machines except MY rainbow. Then their pushy selves finally got the hell out of our home. They had said there is a lifetime warranty, anything breaks it is fixed or replaced at no cost. Not true, after they left we read through everything thoroughly and that is only true for the first 3 years, then there is portions that you have to pay. The guy doing the demo said if you lose a tool they replace for free. His boss said, "You lose a tool you can get new one for $10," don't believe that now.

Then the bags, said, "Two bags will last you 6 months to a year." Sorry but if the dirt is not escaping common sense would tell you that is impossible unless you live in a sterile environment. So my final assessment of the sales pitch? HORRIBLE, PUSHY, Invasive and dishonest. We have tried to use it since they left. Yes it picks up good, not sure any better than my rainbow which is light, and easy to use. This machine is bulky and difficult to use. My roommate will be calling today to return it since she has 3 days. It is a nice machine but then she wants her equipment back also. I felt they want to trade all your machines in so you will feel stuck. Why else? We are cringing on what we might experience when we try to return it.

Kirby sells a good machine, though very pricey, but the sales practices leaves a very very bad taste in my mouth. When I purchased my rainbow the saleswoman was polite, she didn't try to steal hours and hours from my day. She told me upfront how long the demo would be and tried to stick within that time, yet showed me adequately everything I needed to see. The Kirby practice felt almost like they were making it take forever so you would buy it to make them leave! Rainbow rep was honest in all the claims about warranty, etc. Kirby should be ashamed of how they sell their machines. A good machine sabotaged by predatory sales practices.

They actually pushed their way into my home and sold me a cleaner that is not needed and when they cleaned my carpets, the padding underneath bunched up. I have several spots that it happened in my living room and dining room. The company they deal with to finance with are liars and I paid it off early and now they continue to harass me. I refuse to pay any more money to this company in behalf of Kirby dealers. My advice is to not let them come in for any reason. They lied and said the company had a dealer store here in my area but refuse to give me the address. Don't buy from them. I have also contacted the Consumer Affairs, Federal Trades Commission, and the Attorney General's office. Please all those who have issues please do the same as this kind I of unfair trade practices will stop.

I got a call a day or so ago asking us if we'd like 3 rooms of carpet cleaned free. I told the lady we don't have 3 rooms of carpet and we just moved into a new house 2 weeks ago. She said they could also do 3 pieces of furniture. We just happened to be looking for a product to use or someone to hire very reasonably priced to clean 3 items. So I told her that and asked her some questions. She said she could have someone come Thurs and absolutely free they would clean our items and no pressure because they were not trying to sell us anything. They just wanted to clean these items then ask our opinion like a survey on what we thought about this product. I asked more questions and she assured me it would not cost us one cent and no pressure to buy because they were not selling anything... so I agreed on between 4-5 come to do this.

She was pleasant and seemed honest. Why do I always believe people? I should know better by now. I asked the name of the product and she said Avalaire or something like that I had never heard of. I also asked her the name of the company and she said Brilliant Shine. So I agreed. We looked forward to getting the few spots off our furniture for no cost. They arrived around 4:30 and a man came in with a lady and left her off to pick her up later so she had no way to leave. Well... they lied to us big time. It was a Kirby vacuum cleaner and they stayed over 3 hours even though we repeatedly told them, "NO. We did not want to buy anything." And I told them everything the lady who called us said. NO pressure and nothing to buy. We were so frustrated and I am surprised my husband did not lose his temper. I was getting very close to losing mine.

They just kept on giving us other offers over and over for price and payments We had told them right out we are not interested and won't be interested and we did not want to buy it. Nothing we said made any difference... They kept showing us more things the Kirby does and kept saying how bad our Oreck vacuum is and on and on and on. I was getting sick and a headache. We had not eaten yet and they stayed till after 7:30... closer to 8:00 pm. My husband and I kept our tempers under control all night but we both were ready to kick them out if they had not finally left after a long long time. We only have one small room of carpet and don't need it or want it. We were honest right off and told them that but they didn't care no matter what we said. They kept pressuring us and making other offers. It was so annoying and upsetting.

I will never ever believe another person who calls with an offer to do something free for us. I am upset with the lady who called because obviously she knew that we would be pressured and that they were trying to sell us something... yet she said, "No, nothing to buy and no pressure to do anything." LIES, LIES, LIES. I am reading all these reviews and they all say the same thing. How can they expect an average retired couple to afford the price of over $2,600 for a vacuum. If I had that money I'd not buy that vacuum anyway. I think it is way too much for a vacuum. I'd buy something we needed or wanted before that. Actually I'd never pay that. The final offer they gave us was $1499.00. What? So if someone was pressured into buying that vacuum when they first came in... you would pay almost twice that price? That just shows me how much of a mark up they have.

I'm sure at the lower price they still would pay the lady doing the work and make a profit on this item. What a rip off and what a Liar the lady is that called us. Besides the lady that was here... (she was pleasant and I'm sure doing her job) but she was pressuring us and when her boss returned to get her he kept trying to pressure us more. Shame on them. You cannot believe anyone anymore or trust their word as true. I will never ever allow another person selling a Kirby vacuum in my house... not even in the front door. EVER!

This was a horrible experience and wasted over 3 hours of our time... And we never led them to believe we would change our mind and buy it. In fact we told them the opposite of that. I am so frustrated and upset now and I have enough to worry about since my dad just died recently and a lot is going on with us just moving. I have a good mind to try that lady's number who originally called and give her a piece of my mind. Do not be fooled by someone calling and telling you what they told me.

Let me start off by saying that this is my first vacuum cleaner I've purchased over $100 and I fell in love immediately with the suction power and array of capabilities of this machine. My husband and I have been shopping around for a new vacuum and also looking for a shampooer so when the salesman knocked on the door I was more than willing to hear and see the demonstration.

However, I needed to discuss the price with my husband who was at work at the time so they left after the demo and I called them back to make the purchase and sign the agreement. While I was doing the paperwork a gentleman came in with the vacuum, unpacked, set it up and said he would dispose of the box for me which I thought was helpful and also odd but paid no mind. I was told there were no bags available at the time and that they would be returning tomorrow to drop off bags and do a proper installation of the machine, which I agreed was fine as it was dinner time and with 3 boys you don't keep them waiting for supper.

After dinner I went to "play" with my new machine and noticed not only was the machine knicked up and scratched but also the buffing bin was still wet and the filter is filthy! I am now upset and feel like I just signed up to pay all this money for a used machine which I could have purchased off of eBay for half the price. The blemishes on the machine wouldn't be a huge deal because I understand how to polish but I feel I shouldn't have to be doing this before I've even had a chance to use it!

I also surrendered my old vacuum so feel I can not back out of the sale because who knows how long it would take to get my old vacuum back and it's not the machine I'm upset with, it's the condition! I am hoping that I can get a new vacuum tomorrow when they show up with my bags and hopefully a user manual. I would have rather just ordered from the Kirby site for this price and have a brand new vacuum! If they do not show back up tomorrow with what I require I will be contacting Kirby and the finance company as I believe if I am stuck with a used machine I should not be paying full price!!

The first salesman was great but then his boss came in and annoyed the crap out of me. Didn’t show me certain features, cleaners they gave me were half empty, noticed just how used the vacuum was after The salesman left, and they were in my house for the longest time. Even after They knew I had just gotten off of work and I was tired. Very inconsiderate on their part. Biggest mistake buying this thing and even worse it costs more than a couple cars I’ve owned. I'm sure the vacuum itself works well, but I will never buy a Kirby product due to the sales tactics used by the door to door salesmen. They tricked my wife into letting them in the house by offering an air freshener for free. Then a second salesman came in with the vacuum and didn't leave for an hour and a half. It took him half an hour to leave after I demanded that he end his sales pitch and leave the house. He then tried to guilt trip me into buying the vacuum by saying that I didn't care about my wife to give her the best tools to keep the house clean. He then used foul language in front of my daughter. It was a terrible experience.

We purchased a Kirby Avalir vacuum system January 9, 2016, and exchanged the G5 Kirby I had purchased 25 years ago for this new model. I never had one single issue with the G5 so thought it would be a solid upgrade. Within weeks, the new machine started smelling funny and often sounded louder than usual. I called the distributor who told me to change the belt. I did so, however, noted I hadn't had to change belts often on the old machine. The new machine continued to behave erratically-- smelled hot, seemed too loud, green light flickered on and off, seemed more difficult to push, etc.

Having been a Kirby owner, I am very particular about keeping the machine clean of debris buildup and assuring the bags are secure and belts are in good shape; but as time passed, the issues seemed to increase. In April of this year, the machine stopped working. I contacted Kirby directly because the local distributor from where I purchased it has closed and there are no local distributors. I also wrote to an address that the finance company directed me to contact requesting service.

Each response I've gotten has been to take the machine to a distributor. The closest distributor is 100 miles away, but I did load up the machine and attempt to take it once, only to find out they were closed. I have asked Kirby to send for pick up. It is poor customer support to not provide such service for a heavy duty machine that costs over $2000. My husband refuses to continue payments for the machine until Kirby replaces it.

The last time I called again, I was told my machine was most likely a "demo", and the representative said I shouldn't have waited so long to get it repaired! It is not easy to load up a heavy machine, take time out of my work week and drive it 100 miles to have someone tell me it is broken! I believe Kirby should arrange to pick it up and replace it--no questions-- when they charge the money they do for a machine! We would appreciate any assistance on our behalf to get this resolved.

I did use the cleaner great for freshing up the carpet, but my carpet was really bad from the prior owner. I purchased a different cleaner to lift those stains. It has made the carpet stay really clean and has great tools for shutters, sofa, etc. I love the attachments. It helped me fluff back up the pad underneath the carpet and I didn't have to replace all the carpeting. It has the suction I needed for the stairs with the short handle to really pull all the dirt up. I am extremely pleased with it, and hope I never need a new vacuum again. The horse power is unreal.

She was here about 4 hours, and I felt like I made a friend. I was truly interested in this vacuum and wanted to help her out, winning the trip, and getting commission. Then we start talking numbers, she had no authority on changing numbers to better suit my life.

In walks the manager, closer, pushy, and rude. He made me feel belittled, and ashamed because I couldn't make the decision to invest in this Kirby without talking to my husband. After all this talk about how his wife would do it, most women would make that decision without talking with their husband, is this true? Finally. I had so much frustration with him, I went and called my husband. My daughter stayed in the room with them, and I was back in the bedroom for privacy. My daughter Said he kept saying quiet, so he could hear my call. When he heard something my husband said, he crumpled the paper, and threw it in the piles of dirty filters. He kept saying, "I told you he would say no!" Very high pressure, shamed me, made me feel stupid because I needed my husband's permission. Which was not true, we discuss all major purchases together. So, I called the number and the phone just rung and rung. Next step, I called the finance company and got a message that they were closed. Today I called the number again and finally it's a working number and they have moved in the building. However they will not let me cancel my contract because it is outside of the 3 days. Alright... Let me first start by saying my grandmother and my mom have both owned Kirby's. So I've heard of them and have used older models. 2 younger men came to our home, said they were just in the area and wanted to clean a room for us and that we weren't obligated to buy anything at all. Come on now... anyone that comes to your door wanting to give away free stuff or wants to just show you something is obviously going to try to sell you something. But anyway, we let them come in and do the demo. The guy that did the demo said he was new and he couldn't explain all the attachments, all he did was talk about needing to sell 14 more to win his free trip. Whatever... idgaf. I bought one anyway.

I don't write many reviews about products because I've never seen the need to. But I've read a LOT of these reviews and the vast majority of them do a LOT of complaining about the salespeople. SO WHAT!?! Those people... even if they are annoying or pushy... are just trying to make a living. The point I want to make in this review is the fact that everyone seems so concerned with how the salespeople act or what they say or supposedly lie about, that they lose focus on what the review should be about. THE ACTUAL VACUUM/CLEANER. My thoughts on the demo/salespeople wasn't great at all. The company needs to come up with a better strategy for their distributors. My thoughts on the Kirby (Avalir 2) itself. There are many pros and many cons, but to name a few...

PROS... 1. All in one. Vacuum, shampooer, carpet, hardwood, grout, tile, fans, windows, etc. With all the attachments.... anything can be cleaned. 2. Space. With it being all in one... all the attachments and cleaning supplies can be kept in 1 place, depending on your storage. 3. Its light weight movement when it's in drive... it glides very easily across carpets and floors. 4. The company will detail the machine for free once a year. 5. It does do a great job with vacuuming and shampooing. It wasn't at first but after a few YouTube videos... I found out that I wasn't taking and putting the attachments on correcting (green to green, red to red) and the belt wasn't letting the rollers move. 6. Warranty.

CONS... 1. It's heavy, I didn't weigh it but I watched a YouTube video of a guy putting it on a scale and it weighed 22.6lbs. It's interesting that it can be so heavy yet move so easily. 2. Having to take it apart and back together for different areas or attachments. (BUT I will add that it gets easier once you learn how to use it properly it doesn't take as long and doesn't seem as overwhelming.) 3. The price!!! 4. Bags. This is the first I've owned that needed bags and I'm not fond of that but it's easy to replace and they aren't expensive. (And for those reviews that complain about the bags being $10-13 each... who buys a 1,500-2,000 vacuum that doesn't have the 10 bucks to spare every few months. It's like buying a 50k car and then complaining about needing to spend 30 bucks on an oil change.)

    5. Wear shoes while using it. I can't count how many times I've backed it up right into my feet. I've never done that with other vacuums but for some reason I do with this and it hurts... lol. Basically... just like with anything, the Kirby may or may not be for you. I'm keeping mine. I love it. But I can see why some others don't like it.

I had to come from over 100 ft away stacking firewood out back to stop these two and demand they follow the law, obey the sign and leave. They tried conning me into believing a solicitor's permit allows them to do as they please. I was polite until this point at which I demanded they leave due to trespassing. They refused and harassed us both for 10 minutes straight lying outright about the laws while continuing to trespass.

They then finally left after I kept laying down state law and city ordinances the whole time. They then phone their van and have them harass us by stopping in the middle of the street cussing, screaming, hollering, catcalling and being racist for several minutes. Being outnumbered 8 to 1 I demanded they leave or I'd be forced to protect myself against their violent behavior as they kept trying to intimidate me and act like they were going to start an altercation. They sped off and came back twice more. Police were called to report the incident and they hid out for 15 minutes approximately and came back to the neighborhood. Police were called again. They tried to file a false report and lied to officers when two squads rolled up on them catching them. All 8 are blacklisted. On April 3rd 2018 my wife and I had people come to the door saying they would clean a room of carpet for free, needless to say they were selling vacuums. They were quite pushy and stayed about 3 to 4 hours. My wife kept saying we were not going to buy the vacuum, well I finally said ok and bought one. My wife asked about the bags that went in the vacuum because we have a lab and with our other vacuum we have to replace the bag about every month due to the fact that dog hair will start to smell. The salesman told my wife this vacuum would not have a odor and we would only have to replace the bag every 6 months as the Kirby bags cost $10 per bag. Well let me tell you this is the worst machine we have ever owned. The shampoo for this machine has made my carpet smell like vomit and Kirby is suppose to be the elite vacuum.

I have recleaned my carpets three times and cannot get the odor out and if Kirby is so great why can I put a new bag in this machine and vacuum my carpets and my wife will go right behind me with a Hoover bagless and the cup is full of dust, dirt and dog hair. I feel this company is very misleading about the performance of their products. They also charge different prices for different people, not to mention they took a Bissell carpet cleaner and a Hoover wind tunnel from my house when they left, saying that was part of the deal they gave me on this worthless machine.

I have owned Hoover vacuums and just bought the Bissell carpet cleaner about a year ago and I am going out today to buy another Bissell machine to get the puke smell out of my carpets. I still own a Hoover upright vacuum, so I won’t have to replace that. I think Kirby is the most uncaring and non customer friendly co. Please anyone who reads this review should never purchase a Kirby, worst product and worst co, ever!!! Oh and if you do buy one from the very pushy sales people and you own a pet, you will be spending $120.00 a year for bags. If I option to rate 0 I would.

I had a shady experience with Kirby this evening, so I went online to look into renting one to give it a try before my father purchased it. I ran into these reviews, which completely mirror my own experiences and explain why I was not comfortable with their presentation. I was on my way to an appointment when they arrived in the evening, around dinner time. I was actually having a bite to eat when they came. Since they said that they were going to clean the carpet and couch, I removed the clean laundry off of the couch so that they could clean it right.

I take care of my father whose reasoning skills are inhibited due to age and medical issues. Kirby reached out to him one day when I was not home and set up an appointment to clean the carpets. Today, they came around 5:45 pm to sale the vacuum under the guise of cleaning the carpets. As a spoiler alert, the carpets were never cleaned, sans the entryway to my dad’s bedroom that served as the demonstration of the vacuum’s abilities as a necessary insurance for our most prized possessions in our house.

This is what I did not like: 1) They stayed for three hours! 2) It was obvious that they prey on people that seem like they’ll take the bait and purchase this over-priced product. 3) Way too pushy! He must’ve asked my dad roughly about 20 times if he was ready to purchase the vacuum today. I had to be aggressive with my father until he finally told the young salesperson “no” and tore up the contract that he had began signing. The guy had a clear attitude that he didn’t get the sale and then began cleaning the entire vacuum from the presentation on our carpet without asking. I thought it to be presumptuous and rude. It also made an awkward situation even more awkward!

    4) They left the salesman at my house, giving him no way to leave earlier than their desired time that they clearly set. 5) He gave the same spiel/sob story about wanting to earn a vacation for his 19th birthday that is similar to other scenarios that I read here. He also stated that he was trying to earn money for college tuition, but when I mentioned other resources for obtaining financial aid, he actually looked dumbfounded. Our customer satisfaction should not be centered around his vacation goals, with the product being the driving force.

    6) They tore the mattress cover on my father’s bed using the Kirby. When I presented this to the manager, he gave me a card... FOR RECRUITING! He thought he was slick when he did not give me his cell number, as he pretended to not have any more of his own business cards. Instead, he told me to contact Ashley and have her connect me to the owner, Nick. He actually wanted me to give him my receipt. I suggested taking a picture of it and sending it to the person who could refund us the value of the mattress cover. To see that it was an issue for them to even do this, demonstrated to me that I do not want to do business with the company. The salesperson’s response to tearing the mattress pad was, “my bad..” He was young and needed to learn that when you make those types of accidents, you must be responsible for it. I’m not holding my breath that someone will actually replace the mattress pad, but it would be the right thing to do.

    7) For each time I stated reasons for not wanting the vacuum, the salesperson shot back with his pre-scripted reasons for why it is a great purchase. Anyone who has dealt with a number of sales knows that if a product is that good, they don’t force you to buy it. They give you the information and allow you to make a decision. GREAT PRODUCTS SALE THEMSELVES!!! What I didn’t hear in their presentation is that, given that my father is a senior, they’d give him time to think about the offer and decide if it was something that he could even afford! 8) I found the free carpet cleaning deceptive and am glad that I was home to derail the purchase of this vacuum. There’s got to be something else on the market that can clean similarly and make house chores much easier.

    9) Overall, it felt like they were targeting my father because he is a senior and sickly. There are many seniors in this neighborhood. Let’s be vigilant to protect our loved ones against people/companies like this who do not respect one’s time or freedom to say “no”. I missed an appointment dealing with these people, and also wondered if I’d have to call the police to get them out of our house! 10) **Check your windows and doors! I found the front window used in the demonstration was unlocked and opened. After an experience like the one we had today, it makes me feel unsafe in my own neighborhood.

    11) Side note: The sales person had to keep calling into the contest desk in order to show us what the vacuum could do. I actually heard the manager on the other end telling the novice what to say to my father! I was right there to respond to his statements. I kept my cool because I wanted them gone, but it was THE WORST sales experience that I’ve ever been a part of in my life! I do not recommend this product because of their shady techniques. IF it sounds too good to be true, it’s probably because it is! Buyer, beware. Do your research before you purchase a Kirby vacuum cleaner.

A lady came to our door telling us she was our new neighbor and was starting her own business. She said she contacted the police to ask if she could go door to door to hand out flyers for free services. They told her she could do that. She gave us the bright pink flyer which stated they would clean one of the following: carpet, tile, grout, hardwood, laminate, at NO CHARGE but this offer was only for today. She came in and looked at our floor and I told her I would like my grout cleaned and treated. She said she would also fluff up the carpet.

The workers were at another house and would be here in about 15 minutes. I said that was fine. Two minutes later there was a knock on the door and she said the workers were here sooner than she thought. One guy came in and proceeded to get his Kirby out of the box. I asked what he was doing because I was supposed to get the grout cleaned. He didn't know anything about that but that since he was here, he might as well show us the Kirby. I told him we are not purchasing anything, we saw this demonstration years ago. After half an hour, he finally packed up and left. I never saw any grout cleaners like they said. This is just a big scam to me. I found out she was not my neighbor; she misrepresented herself because the street she told me she lives on is not in my development. They gave some information on the bottom of the slip: Call Go Distributing 209-518-7819. I tried calling but got no answer.

We have been using Kirby Vacuums for over 40 years. The last one was bought less than 18 months ago. We only used this vacuum about 2 or 3 times contingent upon the fact that, we are in an advanced stage of aging. At the time of purchasing this was not an issue, however, circumstances do alter cases. I have made about 10 calls to several departments and asked them to kindly consider the circumstances and either; take back the Vacuum and cancel the sale or, support us in a way that all parties will be satisfied. The account is paid up to November 2018, and of course, we are in the month of April, therefore, we are in excellent standing with the company financially.

Over the past 40 years of doing business with Kirby, we found them to be excellent. Suffice it to say, over this period we never asked them any favour/s. Reflective upon this period of negotiation we have just found out that many of the senior people with whom we have to speak are: very abrupt, unapproachable, have no tolerance other than to effect a sale. We are disappointed. Many times we call we end up with abrupt people who immediately toss us to another department. "The products are good but management tactics are corrupt". We would like Kirby to amicable settle our account. (Many of the people with whom we speak told us to give away the product and continue paying for the product.)

After 40 years, we hereby conclude that Kirby is somewhat fraudulent, deceptive, or uniquely unscrupulous. Kirby! You have fooled us in certain ways for over 40 years. You have a very good business however, you are killing it. We are sorry that we have ever done business with you. Reflective upon all these specificities, you should concur with us that, the organizational cultures of your company is rotten and needs to be reorganized. Kirby, we are awaiting your new decision, be credible and make one now.

The Kirby Company answered my complaint. They left a phone # to Consumer Relations and I called them that same day. I told them that I wanted to return my Kirby Vacuum and get a full refund under their policy the "Golden Ager/Disabled Consumer Purchase Cancellation Procedure". Monica from Consumer Relations asked me some questions and wanted me to fax copies of proof of disability and a letter from my doctor. After I got those copies to Consumer Relations. In 1-2days I got a phone call from MAX Sales, Inc. on June 6, 2018 telling me that they were coming to pick-up the Kirby Vacuum Cleaner in the afternoon. MAX Sales, Inc. received the vacuum and I will be getting my full refund.

On December 23, 2017, I purchased a Kirby Vacuum Cleaner. I was so happy about getting the vacuum cleaner, I did not think about all the lifting of the vacuum cleaner I would be doing (I am disabled and being treated for a neck and lower back injury). From day one I have not used the vacuum cleaner. I've been thinking of a way to cancel my vacuum cleaner and returning it. After 4mos., I found a policy you have. The Golden Ager/Disability (Regardless of age) which restricts or prevent the consumer's use of the Kirby System, may cancel and rescind the purchase transaction up to 9 mos. after the date of purchase.

I called MAX Sales, Inc. (the company the salesperson worked for, Mike **) on May 8, 2018, in the morning and talked to someone named Max (he told me he would call me back in the afternoon). Then on May 19, 2018, I called in the morning and left a message for Max and a phone number. I'm still waiting for that phone call. Now it's May 19, 2018, no word yet. Is this the type of Distributor you want, selling your brand name product in the state of Hawaii. I'm very sad and disappointed. ALOHA and MAHALO!!

So my husband recently started working to sell the Kirby. He was told 500.00 a week guaranteed plus 15 sales calls Monday through Friday and during training that if they set their own practice appointments their gas would be reimbursed. He was told that for every Kirby he sold her get 200.00. He was also informed that he would only be working from 9 am to 6 pm at the latest. I say B.S.! Everything was a lie. They said they'd give us the 35.00 we put into gas back for his appointment they handed me a 10.00 bill and said that it should get me home after dropping him off as we were on empty and that's all they could do for now and that they'd make sure my husband had a ride home after work. This was a lie too.

They gave him a ride back to town about 5 miles from my house and dropped him off at 9:45 because they didn't want to get lost dropping him off at home, (so they can make it to their appointments but they can't use the GPS to get to it house?) so I had to wake up my kids and go pick him up. The next day they worked him from 9:00 am until 11:30 pm. And I had to find a way to get gas to go up to Columbia again wake up my children because they use their company car and he's not the one driving To pick him up (40 minutes each way for me to drive). He found out yesterday the following: They are not giving the remaining gas money they said they'd pay us back, the 500.00 that was supposedly guaranteed he's only paid if he sells 5 vacuums a week or if he makes it to 15 appointments (which he has no control over how many he makes it to, as the canvassers make their appointments).

Well the canvassers only set 13 appointments for the week so unless he sold 5 he wouldn't get any of the 500.00 payment. He made his first sale yesterday. However the commission because it was a used Kirby they wanted the one that was being used for demo was given to them for 900.00 so my husband because he was the sales rep Only gets 90.00. Shoo again another lie. It's a 10% commission all of a sudden. So say he didn't make a sale or commission aside; Say the canvassers set the 15 appointments. At 500 a week with the hours they have him running it's still under minimum wage.

Minimum wage in Missouri is 7.85 an hour. He had never gotten off before 9 pm and the one in charge when my husband explained and questioned what was going on and that he has children to support that he can't work like this with the deception and not even the possibility of pay my husband asked him if he was even going to see the commission from his sale and he said that he'd get paid but after our experience and that they couldn't even pay us the 30.00. This is worse than any sales company I've ever encountered and I will be reporting this on every site.

This weekend Newport hosted a loyalty day parade, which was one of the reasons this person gained access to my home. Unfortunately I answered the door to a fast talking man holding a free bottle of room spray for me, who claimed to be from a cleaning company. Because of loyalty day and Mother’s Day, their company was being paid to go into 50 peoples homes and carry out a cleaning of something. No fee, a free service, just pick something to be cleaned. He told me my neighbor was having it done and so I thought ‘what’s the harm, it’s free’. BIG MISTAKE.

I told him OK, yes, maybe the carpet, because I have a cat and the house had previously been rented to dog owners. But I was heading out in an hour for the parade. He told me he would text someone and get them to come over immediately. 10 minutes later a guy turns up, and that’s when the sales pitch started. He asked me how long I had lived in the house and how old the carpets/rugs were. Whilst trying to give information I thought was pertinent to the free cleaning, he started using all this information against me whilst taking out the Kirby Vacuum cleaner.

After all the usual sale tactics and me saying I didn’t want to buy a vacuum cleaner he kept pushing, asking me why not, and could I not just consider buying one whilst he was in my house. Basically saying he wasn’t leaving unless I did. I continued to say no, even through his lame attempt to guilt trip me because he was trying to win a holiday to Las Vegas, and me buying one would get him even closer to this.

I continued to say no, coming up with every excuse I could think, but he fired them straight back at me. I told him I had to leave and so he needed to go. He then said he had to shampoo the carpet. I asked how long it would take to dry because I needed to go out and I have an indoor only cat and didn’t want to leave when it was wet. He told me the stuff they use is children safe and pet safe, I asked to see the bottles and there is no information stating this on the bottle. He said the sales staff ‘do shots’ with it and rub it in their eyes. I told him no. My cat is indoor only and I can’t have something go down that might upset him or his environment. At this he got visibly annoyed, stating, ‘I only get paid if I shampoo’ and that the dirt on my floor was worse for my cat than anything he would put down!!! That was the last straw.

Finally he left and I did not buy his stupid vacuum cleaner, but I have to say this was a very long and uncomfortable situation that I did not need on my Saturday morning in my own home. I do not care for pushy salespeople or companies that have staff who work for commission. It is not my responsibility to pay their salaries. I have read other reviews that are similar to mine and feel for the people who were not able to get out of this without buying one. Do not let these people into your home and just say NO. There is no such thing as ‘free’ and his opening phrase of ‘I’ll just show you - no pressure at all’ was complete garbage.

My experience with the Kirby sales rep was similar to the others I read. They get in with the offer to clean an area for free and then never leave. They just don't take no for an answer, and had to be here 3 hours. They kept dropping the price every time we said no. They knew they had my wife hooked, but I was the problem. I was in our bedroom changing clothes with the door shut and the guy just opened the door and walked in. I was standing there in my underwear. How do you just walk into someone's bedroom like that. Instead of the Kirby responding with their same standard answer maybe they should do something about it.

My experience with a Kirby rep was quite similar to the 10 I have already perused. However, this Kirby rep had a package of paper towels and a small bottle of laundry soap and said they were opening a new store next to a nearby Walmart that would target housecleaning products. I talked to him thru my locked storm door and said I didn't have much time as I just got home from the dentist and was tired. He said I could pick the product of my choice just to look at some info about their new store (nothing about a vacuum cleaner, Kirby or carpets at this point).

To make a long story short, even though the rep was persistent and even drummed up a sob story about wanting to win the vacation to FL for him and his drug-addicted sister who was still in "NA", I kept saying "no, I cannot afford that right now." By the end of his pushing and pushing, he lowered the price to 898, payments deferred for 3 months, 12 months same as cash and I could keep my old vacuums (I still did not buy the Kirby. It is impressive in its ability to get the dirt, but I am disabled and could not see having to pick the upright unit up). BTW: legally, most states allow a consumer to get out of a signed contract within 3 days, so I would check with your State's "Secretary of State" office about your state's policy. It is sad that these independent reps have to sully the name of Kirby, but doesn't Kirby do any vetting of distributors? Just sayin'.

I have to close my checking account so the money doesn't come out. I checked the address on the receipt and it's a tow company. I looked up the corporate address in the fine print and it's a low class residential area in Pace FL. Hardly the way a successful company that sells $1500 vacuums operates. I was making dinner tonight and was home with my 4 year old when I heard a knock at the door. I was expecting company so I had my little one answer the door and heard “is your mommy or daddy home?” I went to the door and found the sleazebag that would infest my home with lies and leave it smelling like an ashtray after loitering long past his welcome.

He told me that he was part of a small business that was setting up shop locally and that to do so they needed to perform 45 free cleanings in order to get the best feel for where to locate the store. Fair enough, I like free stuff and I like local business so I directly asked how long it would take and said I had thirty minutes tops because I had company coming over for dinner. That’s when stuff got stupid really fast. Some 18 year old kid comes in and he’s a fast talker but a really bad one. His favorite trick was to ask about interests and then really sink his time into painting me as some great American hero for liking things like baseball and dogs and for making bacon.

30 minutes in is when he STARTED cleaning the sofa he said he would. By this time I was absorbed in making dinner and lost track of time. I asked him to leave a couple of times politely but saying “We are not interested in buying a vacuum cleaner, but thank you for the demonstration.” He must have graduated with honors from the school of how to make people hate you by not listening. Whatever the opposite of winning friends and influencing people is, that’s this guy. He continued for 2 hours to try and sell me a vacuum. I put dinner on the table and these jerks WOULD NOT LEAVE MY HOUSE!! I should add that my friends had arrived and the vacuum people basically restarted the pitch with them. I eventually ran out of patience and told them: “Look, nobody here wants what you’re selling and we are tired of you being here, so please go.”

Did that work? Not a chance!! The kid (who mentioned being in Seattle usually and having just finished up a turn through Arizona selling these atrociously heavy vacuum cleaners, so, no, they were not a local business looking to set up shop down the block) didn’t leave; he called his manager who showed up and wouldn’t listen to anything but instead launched into cornering and badgering sales tactics: “how much can you put down today?” Me: “Nothing; leave.” Salesjerk: “We have payment plans...” Me: “Get. Out. “ Salesmoron: “Okay guys, show them the shampoo demo so we get credit for the demonstration.”

Ah yes, the contest. The entire duration of the demonstration, these sales guys mentioned some stupid contest no less than 7 times combined. See, their story was that one of them was only three vacuum cleaners away from a free trip to Wisconsin Dells. Odd—was it a contest or an incentive program? These guys didn’t strike me as the type that would know the difference. I was told late in the demo that if they weren’t allowed to finish the shampoo and some other God-forsaken cleaning process that Mr. I-need-to-sell-just-3-more-Kirby’s-before-I-can-earn-my-vacation wouldn’t get credit for his time and would get in trouble with his boss.

By this time, I was to the blurting-things-out stage so I did just that. HA!! I laughed out loud. “You spent the last two hours doing who knows what; it’s not my problem that you squandered your precious shampooing time chattering in for half hours at a time about nothing while you could have been getting credit for your demonstration. Nope, not my issue. You’re done. Get out.”

He actually responds by turning to his trainee and saying: “This is the awkward part where we have to pack everything up because they’re mad and they just want us to leave.” Un-be-freaking-lievable!!! I see that Kirby responds to these comments here and says things like: “...while we aren’t affiliated with our third party resellers...” WELL MAYBE YOU SHOULD BE!! For crying out loud!! Never again, Kirby, and regardless of your relationship with your resellers, I will NEVER recommend your sleaze-driven products. Ever. I’d rather live in hazardous waste than deal with another of your “I’m just a local business owner looking to"—Nope. Lies. Too bad. I actually liked the vacuum a bit.

I bought a new machine after the cleaning. They are very pushy and make you feel like you can’t live without it. They gave me a credit and took my perfectly good vacuum. I am disabled and can’t even put the front of the vacuum itself on. I had to go out and buy a broom and can’t even afford to buy a new vacuum. I can’t lift it. I can’t move it. I can’t bring it up and down the stairs. My floors are disgusting and there should be a law against people selling these machines, especially to the elderly and disabled. I pay $140 a month for a machine I can’t even use. My daughter and I can’t even breathe at night with the amount of dust and dirt on our floors. I have called the number of the “manager” who left his card... like 20 times. The one time he did answer he said the best he could do was send someone out to “assist” me with using the machine and to look at the attachment that was already broken. He scheduled me for 4pm the next day.

Two days later at 1pm, I got a call from a lady who said she was outside my house and was wondering where I was. I have tried to sell it to at least pay off the balance, since I live on my limited social security income, and no one wants it. Warren Buffett should be ashamed of himself. I nearly killed myself trying to move this from my kitchen to my bedroom. I sit and cry because I answered the door that day. Please everyone beware. I’ve also called the 800 number countless times.

After sitting on hold, I eventually get sent to a voicemail where I leave my information, and no one gets back to me. In a few years, I’ll pay it off, it will cost me about 5k when all is done, then I’ll throw it in the trash. I hope Warren Buffett feels good about himself. This is the worst scam I've ever seen. Don’t answer the door people. If your company really believed in your machines, you wouldn’t have to force people to buy them, you would answer your customers calls and take them back from the people that can’t use them. Instead, you leave countless victims in your wake. :(

In retrospect, at this point your best plan of action if he continues to pester you is to CALL THE POLICE. I am the owner of a puppy so of course a carpet cleaning was something that I could use. The salesman (his name was Brian) did clean my carpets, but as I mentioned he took forever and all the while I was forced to listen to this very canned hard-sell spiel.

My vacuum was over 15 years old so eventually I decided to purchase a vacuum. The price started at $2300 and it ended at $800 for a lesser model vacuum. I wrote him a separate check for cleaning my carpets so needless to say I was a dream customer for this clown. Once he got the check he couldn't get out of the door quick enough. He had promised to return to give me a tutorial on the lesser model vacuum but I tried to chase him down for 2 weeks and he always had a lame excuse to not return. Bottomline while the vacuum is decent they are way overpriced and the lousy customer service is not worth the terrible experience. I normally never allow sales reps to come into my home, but I was somewhat interested because I was in need of a new vacuum cleaner/rug cleaner, and since the Kirby system offer both, I gave the demonstration a try. As it turned out, it was the worst experience that I had ever had with a company, its sale reps, and the independent owner.

For starters, I was at home alone with my 11 years old son when I invited two sales reps to show me the product. The demonstration on the Kirby system was going great and I had instantly fallen in love with the product. All of sudden, the demonstration took a turn for the worst. One of the sales rep made a racial slur which took me by surprise. He asked me if I liked bugs and I had replied no. Then he asked, "What do I do to bugs when I see them"? I said that I would kill them sometimes. Then the sales rep said that he can tell that I was from St. Louis because I loved killing roaches and bugs.

At that point, it seemed as though time has stopped. The second sales rep and I looked at each other as if we could not believe what we had heard from the first rep. Then the second rep just at the floor and started shaking his head in disgust. It wasn't until later, after talking to their boss/independent owner told me that the first rep was not trained to make such a comment to me. But, since I own a property management company and loved the Kirby system so much and wanted to learn more about the system, I had ignored the remark and allowed him to continue the demonstration... THAT WAS A REGRETTABLE HUGE MISTAKE on my part because it got worse from there!

During the demonstration, I learned that the first rep was actually training the second rep. It became obvious that first rep took pride in bossing around his new trainee. And the trainee did not appreciate being bossed around, especially since it was done in a very unprofessional manner. Anyway, once I agreed to purchase the system, which was $2100, the first rep went to retrieve an application for financing purpose.

During this time the second/trainee rep because to pace around my house as he rubbed his hand together as if to release some tension, due to the fact he felt disrespected and bossed around. He started to sweat really bad. That when I became afraid in my own house because I saw anger in the second rep's eyes, but I immediately wanted to take control of the situation because my husband was at work and I was at home with my young son.

Therefore, I felt trapped in the middle and I did my very best to try to calm him down because I did not want things to escalate any further between the two reps. I told him to ignore him and to just let it go and just finish his day on a good note, especially since he was new on the job. But my attempt fell on deaf ears. Instead, he told me that he hates the first rep and thought that he was a "** snake", (his actual words). I could not believe he had cursed right in front me! Then, the first rep came back in the house and rudely told the second rep to start vacuuming my carpet. He replied, "No, because I don't have a vacuum bag". That's when the first rep got up in the second's rep face and demanded him to do it. At this point, I got scared because they both looked like they were about to fight in my living room. Then my husband came through the door and I felt that was the only reason why they did not go to blows.

I must have had a look of terror on my face because my husband asked me if there was anything wrong and if I was okay. I simply told him yes, which was a complete lie. I told the second rep at that point that he did not need to vacuum and I would do it later. I just wanted to sign the contract and get them two out of my house.

I still wanted the Kirby system after that madness that went on in my home, only because I thought was a AWESOME system and on top of that, I was able to finance the purchase and knew I would get great use out of it. But when I told my husband what had happened in our home and about the terrible experience and how afraid I was, he immediately wanted me to return it. My husband was pissed and said that we will not purchase or support anything from the Kirby company ever again! So I called the finance company the next day to make a complaint and to cancel the contract and request them to return my vacuum cleaner as well as pick up theirs.

A few days later, the independent owner called me and was very apologetic. We made arrangements for him to personally pick up the Kirby system and he had promised to bring my vacuum with him on the same day. But on the day he came to my home, he did not bring my vacuum cleaner at all. Instead, he tried to sell me the latest version of the vacuum cleaner, which left me in awe. I was so upset and so was my husband. Then the independent owner made a second promise to me to return the next day with my vacuum, which that was another lie because he had failed to make good on his promise. I did not even receive a courtesy call from him. I waited for another day just to see if he would come back to my home and he did not. WOW!!! It all made sense to me then. I thought the apples (the reps) did not fall too far from the tree (the owner).

At this point, I was totally DISGUSTED and just had enough of the Kirby company and its representatives because I was treated with disrespect and lied to in my own home. It wasn't until three days later, I was contacted by another rep. This rep left me a voicemail to inform me that he was head to my home to pick up the Kirby system and to return my vacuum cleaner. Unfortunately, my family and I were out of town to celebrate my husband's birthday for the weekend. On the following Monday, I called in independent office to setup arrangement to get my vacuum back and to return the Kirby system. I must have called four times. Each time I called, I was immediately sent to a voicemail system and could not leave a message because of it being full. Now, I was thinking that I was scammed!

That is when I called the corporate office and spoke to a very understanding rep took down my complaint and listened to my worries. He assured me that he would get in touch with the independent owner for. I can only assume that he did because the independent owner sent me a text message to arrange a third attempt to follow through with returning to my home. So, tomorrow I am really looking forward to getting this system out of my house and to put the disastrous experience behind me, hopefully. But, I am not going to hold my breath because I have a better chance of dying than anything else! Now, my husband told me that I cannot make any big purchase without his consent first, which is crazy because out of 15 years of marriage, this is the first time he has ever demanded that of me. I no longer have purchasing power. Thanks Kirby for having a negative impact on my life!

A relative received a demo and gave our name as a possible interested party. It's true we purchased a new home that has about 2500 sq feet of carpet. A woman called and offered a free cleaning. A nice respectful man showed up. I was appalled by how much dust and grime the vacuum was pulling up. Like anything the price is up for negotiation. I paid $1295. I cut the demo short as our toddler was done and ready for bed. Even after he had the sale he still wanted to finish cleaning our carpets! He took the time to make sure we could assemble and disassemble the attachments. The salesperson was great.

The vacuum is super heavy and clunky for sure but the amount of dust it was pulling out and we had a Dyson! It’s worth the effort and price for me. We have owned for about a month and after thorough cleaning and regular maintenance my asthma and allergies has greatly improved. I know several people who have owned their machines 30+ years. I hope ours last as long. Currently I am very satisfied overall.

I informed her I was an engineer and didn’t need to be talked down to, which she replied she had been doing this for 40 years. I’m guessing all those years she never learned customer service care. I hung up to collect my thoughts.

If you’re interested in purchasing a Kirby just rethink your choice of whom to buy from. Kenny Family Enterprises lacks customer service. I now have a vacuum I wish I had not spent $3000.00 to buy. When my mom purchased a Kirby in the 70’s their customer service was exceptional and the vacuum is still working, that’s why I chose the Kirby to begin with. The company selling this vacuum is questionable and only interested in the sale. If returning the vacuum was an option and full refund available I definitely would take it. I would also continue to buy a BISSELL just for their awesome customer service even if it meant spending $4000.00 in my lifetime.

Where do I begin?!? The guy shows up to my door with my "free dish soap" and begs me to come inside because he's cold. The nice person I am, I accept. BAD IDEA. He said he would vacuum a small area then shampoo a spot, make it quick, maybe 30 minutes and if I'm not sold on the vacuum there was no pressure. **! He not only stayed about an hour is past when he said he would, I politely declined several times and he would not take no for an answer. I explain my husband and I are swamped in bills we do not need to add to our expenses. Blowing off what I said he keeps calling his boss for a discount. Even tries buying off my new Shark vacuum I just got 2 weeks ago for a trade in - even after I said I was not getting rid of it. I kept asking him to leave, come back later, etc. He kept pulling out more stuff for a demo I told him I was done with.

All this is happening while my husband is at work. My brother finds out what's going on, he shows up to help kick the annoying pest of a salesman out of my house. He started being rude to us, then calls his boss and says "looks like the customer got her husband to call his boyfriend to kick me out." I tell him that's enough, he needs to get his crap together and get the hell out. He keeps dragging his feet and saying rude things to my brother. His boss shows up and lets himself into my house. He's also trying his scam of a pitch. I tell them I was not interested in the vacuum so stop pushing. To make a long story short, they finally leave but leave their dirty rags from the demonstration all over my floor and there's dirt all over my carpet. My brother goes outside to tell him he forgot his rags, he says they are not his.

I say you brought them and used them with YOUR vacuum, it's your rag. He refused to pick it up, dropping the F bomb, my bro goes to give them to the guy, he refuses to take them, calling us names, his boss is cackling like a witch, pulling out his phone recording what was going on. This was not how this should have been handled. They were completely unprofessional, and I'll never buy a Kirby vacuum even if it was on clearance for a penny. I also called the cops after the rude bunch left so they were aware of what was happening. They also drove a red van with tinted windows. It just all in all was a very sketchy and out of control situation and I'm highly disappointed in the way the Kirby salesman acted, it was extremely immature and unprofessional. I'm also contacting the Better Business Bureau.

We bought our Kirby Avalir about a year ago through a door to door salesman and paid an arm and a leg. The only reason I'm giving it 2 stars is because the vacuum aspect works, it's the best vacuum I've owned. However we were sold on all the attachments mostly. We have kids so messes and accidents happen. Recently my daughter had an accident and I spent 3 hours trying to clean up the mess with the carpet cleaner attachment. It did not even pick up an eighth of the water that got distributed. Not only that but it didn't even come close to getting rid of the smell. Probably because it was just soaking in my carpet. I cleaned all the parts after this and thought I'd give it a try on our living room since it needed to be cleaned as well. Nope. Living room smelled like urine now. I don't know how to get the smell out of the parts, afraid to use them anymore.

I feel like we got scammed. I know I used it right because when we had tile I used the mop attachment all the time until I got tired of having to spend an hour on my kitchen alone doing the process properly. I also checked the instructions a million times to be sure I was doing it right, because it didn't make sense that the dirty water only filled up the reservoir once. Having this Kirby was the only reason we agreed to have a place with carpet. Oh and they'll give you a terrible interest rate if you've got good credit.

I received a phone call stating I'd won a free clean of my choice... Carpets, lounge or mattress. I was pretty happy with this. They came over the next day to do this couch clean, where I found out it was actually a Kirby Vacuum Cleaner demo. I thought they were just coming over to do my lounge suite. I laughed when he said it was going to take 90 minutes because I thought he was kidding. He was not. They proceeded to give me a full demonstration of this vacuum, something I did not consent to. I needed to go out and was sucked into a review for TWO HOURS. And all he did was vacuum patches of my lounge room and vacuumed my lounge? I could have vacuumed my lounge. Then they tried to sell me the damn thing! I thought I was just getting my couch cleaned. I almost fell off the planet when he said it was $4,500. Called the boss, got a better deal. Still said no. Said no before he started, said no throughout, said no at the end.

He seemed annoyed that I said no. He was still alright and nice. But I'm so angry that this is their strategy. It's so sneaky. Based on the sneakiness alone, it was enough to not even consider buying the vacuum. To trick a person into a demo... And not even do the thing they said they were doing. TWO HOURS!!! Seriously! Life is short and I'll never get those two hours back! Such a stupid, sly, sneaky strategy, and if that's how they show you the product, then I imagine they'd be a nightmare to deal with if you actually went ahead and purchased one. Not happy.

First of all, the way that Kirby is allowing the salespeople to approach and pitch their product is appalling. The salesman that came to my home was immediately forceful, obnoxious, and offensive. I was upfront with him in the beginning that I would NOT be purchasing a vacuum, but because he told me that he would get "credit" for a demonstration, I told him he could do that but that would be all. I also told him that my fiancé had just has surgery and did not feel good and I would have to get him some food so that he could take him meds, hoping that he would be considerate and speed the demo up. Over 3 hours later he was STILL at my home, going into rooms he had no business being in, making fun of my things and being completely loud and obnoxious.

I insisted that he needed to gather his things and go because my fiancé was feeling ill from not having any food or meds, but he just wouldn't leave! He continued to try and negotiate deal after deal upon me and I kept telling him that we simply could not afford a frivolous purchase such a vacuum after my fiancé being off of work for so long due to his surgery... he would not accept my answer. After half an hour of him trying to get ahold of his manager to come and pick him up, he made her come in and I again had to embarrassingly explain why we could not afford to purchase the vacuum.

They became rude and questioned me about why I wouldn't agree to the great deal they had offered me, to the point of harassment. You couldn't pay ME to ever use one of their products. I will NEVER give them a good review or recommendation due entirely to their use of con artists to harass and bully customers into purchasing the product. I can't imagine how many people give into them just to get rid of them and out of their home.

I am having issues with it now, (basically it sounds like a jet plane), and I called the company and they said that they could rebuild it, at a cost to me, and all I would have to do is ship it to the company, as the closest company is more than 1 hour away. As far as the machine, it is the heaviest, most awkward vacuum that I have ever used, difficult to change attachments, and extremely dangerous to carry up and downstairs. If he had responded in those two weeks I had been trying to contact him I wouldn't have posted this really bad review. I was extremely frustrated with a representative whom I felt was ignoring me. But anyways, I can't seem to delete that negative review so this is my solution instead. He apologized for not responding in those two weeks and agreed to bring those items as promised on Monday. Also, a nice manager of Kirby named Ashley was informed that I was unhappy on Consumer Affairs and she called me as well to find out what kind of solution she could bring. My lesson from this is to be more careful about what I get myself into when purchasing things from salespeople.

Grandma and mom both had Kirby vacuums. I couldn't afford one until recently. I can understand why the door to door sales pitch would be off putting to some. Girlfriend vacuumed twice before the Kirby salesman arrived that day and we actually got a kick from the demonstration and were a bit surprised at how much dirt her Shark left behind. We gave him an old Shark on trade and keep the newer Shark downstairs to vacuum up kitty litter. We spent an entire day vacuuming and using attachments this weekend and believe me... the house smells and feels cleaner.

I suspect a lot of people think for the money they spend the Kirby should vacuum the house for them but conversely... because it does such a good job you are probably going to work harder because you're going to vacuum more. Removing and installing attachment hose and head takes a bit of practice but no biggie, I also wish it was more maneuverable. Maybe keep a weaker Dyson/Shark for quick jobs and a Kirby for "Deep" cleaning.

I've had a Kirby Vacuum for about 10 yrs and it's stood the test of time. I use it about once a week. I don't have a lot of company, so I vacuum about once a week, or less since I live alone. It cleans very well, and my carpet looks new when it dries. I clean it about every 6 months. This is the best vacuum I've ever had. The vacuum doesn't get overly wet, and it dries in about 3 hrs. It looks like a job any professional would, and it saves me about $100 when I do the cleaning myself.

I agreed and had them come in the next day. They entered the house and immediately it was a sales pitch. Nothing about a cleaning. The salesperson bent my arm forcing me to sign up for this vacuum. I called them up the next day to get info on how to cancel the order and all I got was the runaround. Claiming a manager will call back but it was all a scheme to let the timeframe past so I couldn’t return it anymore. I feel like I was ripped off and got scammed. Recently my wife and I purchased a Avalir/Kirby System from a couple that the lady showed up at our door. The lady asked if her and her husband could show us a vacuum and would only take a few minutes of our time. I told them I was on my way to work but the wife could see it. This couple said it would only take a moment (which took more than an hour) and would allow us to see the vacuum in action which the husband proceeded to take over. They said that if they sold it they would get "a trip to Colorado and they needed 15 sales to get the trip, and we would be the ones to make it fifteen"... as this was all they needed to qualify. That was lie number one... research online shows that is a line they use to get you to feel like you are helping a young couple to get a free vacation!

We allowed them to demonstrate the product in our living room and dining room. After seeing what a "horrible job our vacuum did" we were interested in what they were offering if the price was right. We were told that in purchasing a 20 year warranty, we would get everything we needed including any upgrades to the Kirby except any liquids ie, shampoo for carpet and hardwood floor cleaner and polish. Lie number two... the bags were never sent, although we have tried several times to reach them, and only get excuses from the salespeople (out of Texas Galveston area or so the area code says). We have been told that they are six bags for $10! No free bags here as stated!

We have tried to contact the individuals that sold the product to us, but only get a "song and dance" around why we haven't gotten to you, or why our phone no longer works". Finally reaching their supervisor we were told that he was in route to a meeting and would return the call at 2 pm. He hung up without taking our number! All I can say so far for this company is buyer beware and don't let them talk you into something you don't need or want to "help someone out". NEVER EVER let these con people into your home unless you can afford to be taken complete advantage of, with no way out!!!!

Totally unacceptable. The doorbell rang. I answered it. It was an energetic fellow saying he wanted to offer a free cleaning. I was skeptical, very skeptical. After reassuring me 10 times and pushing his way through I said ok. Made it clear to him I had to get back to work in 5 mins, he said no problem. Very shady and I suspect he was drunk or under the influence of drugs or both. After using my vacuum cleaner he said his buddy was coming. Before I could respond a thug barged into my house with a huge box. He said, "did he give you the run down?" I said, "I thought this was just a cleaning..." He said, "good" and left. Weird. Shady. The guy opens the box pulls out the vacuum and starts ** on my vacuum and bragging about how great his is. 15 mins in he's trying to clean my whole house. I don't have time for this. Thanks but no thanks. He doesn't listen.

He goes into my room after I said don't go in there. Tells me he a chemistry major and the reason I'm not getting good sleep is because I'm sleeping in dust mite feces and 2 pounds of my yellow skin I've been shedding... LOL. This guy really would make a good storyteller, because he could tell them for days it seemed. Half hour later, throwing these stupid white discs around my house with tiny bits of dust he told me he wanted to start shampooing. I said nope, no way, times up. He started giving me a sob story about how his poor dad has pancreatic cancer and he needs to sell the vacuum to support him... Really... This is a new low, pathetic. Then as he's packing up taking his sweet sweet time he makes a pretend phone to one of his Kirby buddies, probably from the video game lol. He said, "we want to start the new month off right, how about instead of $2,300.00 we discount it for an amazing one-time-offer for only $1,500.00" LOL.

Kirby was trying to rip me for $800.00. Wow this company is ripping everybody left and right. I said, "nope I'll just buy mine on eBay for $300.00, see ya later!" Then another guy walks in, says he's the general Kirby manager of Massachusetts like I'm supposed to bow before him. The guy doing the demo looked like he was his butler or slave. The guy says, nice house, tries to make small talk and asks me again if I wanted to buy. I had to try really hard to keep my composure from not bursting out in laughter. Most average Joe's don't have over $2,000 to drop on a vacuum to clean. I'm not Oprah so no, not interested, get away. Finally they left an hour later. This company is horrible. Do not trust them, do not let them in your house. They want to waste your time, that's all. These people need to do normal advertising for the 21st century like everybody else and leave people alone. Stay away from my home Kirby.

It's only 175$ to rebuild it completely which is way better than any other vacuum out there. They make you pay anywhere from 80$-$3500 for vacuum with no real warranty plus you have to pay for new vacuum in 2-3 years after you buy it including rainbows which lie about what they can really do. Vacuum companies get away with false advertisements by SAYING RIGHT ON THE FRONT, "VACS NEVER LOSES SUCTION." Funny ** NOT, and it leave so much dirt in your carpet. Plus if you have hardwood floors you either using a steamer or a swiffer or something like that.

Maybe you're still using a mop, by the way you're either messing up your floor or just spreading dirt around till you can't see it. And all of you peeps are sick lately and don't know why cause you're not CLEANING. Kirby has been around for 104 years. Spend ** tons of money improving their product to help clean and all of the dirt and micro dust cause you to get sick. And helping you breathe so you don't have to suffer. Yet people complain. I'd like to say it's not worth the price I'm paying, I'm in debt for just accepting that contract, I'll be honest at the time it sounded great; like everything else that gets talked up to be top shelf an affordable (Biggest lie ever). No one to blame but myself because I signed a contract to pay for a 12 in 1 vacuum cleaner. It sounds good people. Don't get me wrong but I have just only now been told they're not even popular and they really ain't. Majority feedback has been negative. It was shown to me how to use very easy, you also get a booklet and CDs. Oh they are available for extra cost... Not free. Anyways I also want to say seriously who has time to be changing all the little pieces to that vacuum cleaner. It also needs part to repair if they break (not cheap).

I know I don't have time to be switching and putting pieces together to build a vacuum cleaner when I have kids but it's okay. Like I said it's my own fault for falling for something that doesn't clean the floors properly. It blows the dust away. It takes me nearly over an hr maybe longer specially on carpet somehow to use it, compared to my cheap Kmart vacuum cleaner it works amazingly great. You get into all the corners and with a Kirby you cant because it's so massive. I understand there's another piece to connect to get into smaller areas but its just time consuming. Who wants to be twisting pieces left right and center. It's just crap for something that cost nearly $4000 is a ripoff.

I was lucky to get my price cut down to $3500 which is still a lotta money. The Kirby also steam mops the floor. OMG, to get a clean floor you have to do it at least 3 time. It leave wet strikes you cant get into small areas. There is no spare parts for getting into small areas unless you uses your own mop. The Kirby is terrible at Cleaning carpets. You can shampoo the floors over and over and they don't even pick up stains.

I absolutely detest this vacuum. It is awkward with the bag hanging off the side, cumbersome and doesn't turn corners well, complicated to use (engage the belt, set the height, put it in drive), changing attachments requires an engineering degree, there are way too many loose parts None of which are stored on the vacuum, it is the heaviest vacuum I've ever used, and it doesn't clean the floor well at all (my little Roomba does a better job than the Kirby vacuum). This vacuum won't save me money long term because the bags are so expensive.

The attachments do come in a storage bag, but they are way too complicated to set up and use. The shampoo attachment is next to worthless because the small capacity tank will only clean a few square feet before requiring the water to be changed. I was promised that the shampoo attachment would clean without leaving my carpet wet, however, it leaves the carpet soaked taking hours to dry. This is a terrible, poorly designed, overpriced vacuum. I know it sounds strange, when discussing a vacuum. I took the day off work to clean and had just vacuumed. I had just been ready to clean, yet again, a terrible cat stain on the old almost worn out carpet with a toxic cleaning solution of my own making because well, we are dealing with cat pee. Gross. When then I could hear my husband talking to someone in the garage. He was turning down this salesman when I peeked around the door on my hands and knees again! Cleaning a mess. It was a wonderful surprise to have someone, anyone offer to help me. This guy comes in, like the other reviews, and cleans. For three hours. Like anything I needed that involved cleaning. Cobwebs from the ceiling, the floor, I had just vacuumed, the kitchen floor, and last but not least that awful stain I’d been fighting for weeks.

All I can say is, I was never uncomfortable having this man in my home. But also, my 6’2” husband was home, busy cleaning in the garage. He was lovely and spent three hours cleaning my home. It would have cost me $350. To have the carpets cleaned once a year, another $350. I was going to replace my vacuum cleaner, a Shark, which I used once or twice a week for two years and was worn out. They gave me $400 credit towards the purchase of the Kirby. That’s double what I paid for it and it didn’t actually clean. I was so impressed by the work this machine did, I would have paid to send this guy on a cruise. Not only was my carpet clean, stain absolutely gone, but my husband was no longer complaining about the smell, priceless. My sanity was saved by a very, very expensive vacuum/carpet cleaner.

I might have purchased a Dyson though the reviews are terrible, and it’s expensive too. I would have had to spend no less than $1,000 for two machines to do the job this one does. I paid more, much more and I’ll tell you why. My mother owned a Kirby for 25 years. For 25 years she owned a heavy, reliable piece of equipment which was only a vacuum. I have to say, mine is better with the carpet cleaner. I can clean terrible embarrassing cat stains without robbing me of my sanity when the cat does it again. I know not everyone can afford such a luxury. Even with what I make it’s a lot. It’s almost unbelievable what I paid for this machine. But the awful, smelly embarrassing stain is gone on my old almost worn out carpet. My husband isn’t complaining, (a true Christmas miracle) and I have an amazing piece of equipment for life. But like I said the price is eye popping. If you purchase one, you won’t be disappointed.

If I could I'd give more stars. The quality of a Kirby outstanding. I just gave way 2 Dysons, Hoover owner before that. If you’re serious about cleaning get a Kirby. I use my Kirby in the canister form, the cleaning power is so much more superior. The adjustable suction on the handheld in full capacity can pick up my gel kitchen mat. No more fighting with the awkward Dyson wand, I now have a wand that I can adjust and reach any part of my wall or ceiling not to mention the hose is extremely long reaches across my large kitchen. AND doesn't tip the vacuum over when trying to clean high areas. Yes, the attachments are not on board however the caddy can be set out for easily changing the wands and tools.

We have recently replaced our carpet with a hard surface. As a canister vacuum the Kirby is wonderful. I no longer need more than one vacuum and a carpet cleaner. Yes it’s heavy if you lift it but it glides wonderfully and doesn't get caught on the littlest object. The quality of materials used is worth it. I'm done with inferior plastic products that chip crack and need replacing often. Even the dusting tools are made so well. Yes I suppose bagless is more convenient but I can handle putting up with changing of bags in lieu of performance.

I was completely caught off guard by a vacuum being brought into my home. I answered the door (Irony- I was vacuuming at the time and my child told me someone was at the door as I couldn't hear the knock or doorbell.) anyways, I was greeted with a free bottle of Glade air freshener (who doesn't like free!!!), I was told that they were offering product and demonstrations in return for reviews (I am not the best at remembering and sometimes like to just hear what I want and not ask further questions as I was to have once again confirmed for me, in a good way). It was freezing out so I immediately asked if he would like to come in. He said, "Yes, just let me go grab my stuff." I almost slapped myself, but instead took a deep breath and tried to remember that I was raised better than to just, kick someone out because they were trying to do their job.

I was so glad that I had invited him in when I saw Kirby on the box. Not that I thought I would actually purchase one myself, it brought me back to lugging my grandma's vacuum up and down the stairs, dealing with so many attachments, being taught as a child about how to work the ins and outs of it. Back then all I cared about was this is too difficult. Not that the weight would undoubtedly equal better durability/ quality, or that there were so many attachments that it could do anything... anything, and you didn't need to also buy this and that to other stuff around the home. It was all in one.

My husband came home about an hour into the demonstrations and explanations (The guy was working his bottom off and not wasting time fyi). I had already told the salesperson that the probability of us buying was less than 1%. Not due to us not liking it but due to the fact that it was literally 5 days before Christmas and I'd just done a surprise purchase with a puppy. So we also had to buy everything for the puppy before we were to pick him up and plan out future very bills. The salesman did not miss a beat though. Even knowing he wasn't going to make a sale he still continued with the same energy as before. Explained in depth to my husband what he had already explained to me. He was extremely efficient, never wasted a breath, was fast talking, luckily both my husband and I are used to that and he would ask if we understood afterward to clarify for himself that we were not misunderstanding.

Lo and behold we are now owners of a Kirby with all the fixings (all of them) plus they are 15lbs lighter than my grandma's days but still come with the lifetime warranty, for an extremely reasonable price (Less than what my grandma paid for hers). They even bought our other two vacuums off us (one was the kid's vacuum, a Shark, as I was tired of having to declog vacuums if I asked them to vacuum). I'm a person that enjoys cleaning and knowing things are clean. I'm so excited for the kids to go to school tomorrow so I can play!!!

Yesterday about mid morning I opened the door to a man holding a card showing different cleaning services such as tile and carpet cleaning. He said he would like to do a demonstration on one room in the hope that we would consider using his services in the future instead of Mr Steamer. As I had one carpet that I had been thinking I would replace as my husband's ex housemate had left it so dirty, and as I was also thinking of getting a deep clean on the tiles, I agreed. I actually thought I would be getting a 'patch test' clean but that was okay. It would give me an idea if getting the carpet fully cleaned would be worthwhile. So I agreed.

The man, whom I have now learned was her Kirby supervisor then called a young woman over and she came into the house with a box, asked to see the room and unpacked the box asking me if I had heard of Kirby. Well I had, many years ago, in the UK, and while the vacuum had been efficient it had also been very heavy and very expensive. After a couple of minutes of vacuuming the carpet the young lady asked me to look at some little pads with dust and dirt on them and explained that in addition to the cleaning she was doing a Kirby demo. I told her at this point that I would NOT be considering buying as I was new to the country and was just about to start my new job.

Melinda told me several times about the holiday she was in line for if she sold enough products. As someone who has worked in sales I was almost amused by the sales chat. I will add she was never bullying or unpleasant. She is a lovely girl and at times even seemed like there was a bit of pressure on her. She worked her SOCKS off cleaning not just the carpet in that room, which between vacuuming and shampooing she has got to a condition where I am now keeping it, but also showing me various other features of the machine. I was impressed with things like the flexibility of the hose and the power of the suction. I also love the variety of height changes from carpet to hard floor.

I had been going to buy a new vacuum. Most likely the Dyson Pet, as the one I had was completely rubbish. However I was also going to buy a carpet washer and floor mop, and the Kirby does all of this. I did some thinking and calculating and some online research. I had also been looking to take some finance if possible to give me a credit rating in the USA. The young lady had also given me information on the guarantee. I compared this with what I had read online for reconditioned models and it looked far better. I found reconditioned models for around $800-$1000. I decided to buy the vacuum with the full guarantee. My husband had to go in as second buyer on this.

We got the price down from the $1782 before tax to $1600 before tax. The interest rate on the finance was bad but we were told that if we paid it off early we would only be charged for the time we had had the finance. In the last stages of the purchase we were told that this was not certain. The finance company said that we might pay less depending on how long we kept the finance and the possibility of early repayment penalties. I considered backing out at that point but the young lady looked so earnest and from the calls she had been having with her boss, I felt I could not (Yes I guilt tripped a bit). This was MY choice at this stage though.

However, when she was going over the guarantee again I have found that the 'bumper to bumper' only lasts three years and there is a cost for any rebuild, currently about $140, which will go up with inflation. The purchasable guarantee on the reconditioned at Walmart was $89.99 for 5 years total. I awakened this morning almost ready to exercise my right to cancel but did not, for 3 reasons. I could not do that to my young salesgirl. I KNOW it would reflect badly on her (Yes some people could think me stupid for this, but I have been in sales jobs with pressured targets). I actually LIKE the machine and think I will get very good use from it. I don't know what effect it would have on my attempts to build a credit history.

However I did spend the night reflecting on the fact that I had been deceived into letting someone into my house and I am DAMNED angry at the supervisor and myself for that. I also am well aware now that the guarantee is NOT what you are led to believe at the beginning of the sales pitch. Also, from something the salesgirl said, I believe that the club med trip she was trying to win may also have been another deceit, designed to stir sympathy in a customer. Also in looking at Kirby's own website, they seem to distance themselves from the distributor and the customer, although I may be misreading that. All in, I am now pretty sure people looking to buy a Kirby MIGHT be better just buying reconditioned with a purchased guarantee from somewhere like Walmart.

We bought our Kirby vacuum when they came to demonstrate. We were told we would be getting some free bags, which we never got, and that we would have a warranty if something went wrong. This vacuum is the biggest piece of junk I have ever owned. It wouldn't run after 7 months. We called Kirby and they told us that we would have to pay to have it fixed. We paid over $3,000 For this vacuum and it didn't even last a year! They didn't care at all! NEVER AGAIN!!! Stick with one you can get from Wal-Mart. They work better and don't cost as much.

Sighs. Where did I go wrong? Last year, at 12: AM. 2 guys knocked on me and my girlfriend's door. They said, "Can we show you the Kirby vacuum?" Well, I said, "No... I'm okay sorry." One guy kept saying, "Look, ma'am! It will work, you have so much dirt no other vacuum would clean. Please, let us in!" I said again, curious, "Look, Sir I don't want anything to do with what you're selling. Good day!" As I was trying to slam the door, the 2 guys walked in... And said "Okay, let's unbox this machine." I got really mad. I said "Sir, this is MY house. MY property. I paid for this land... Get out of my house or I'll call the police for trespassing." He immediately said "No, no. It's okay! Do not call them you **, I mean, you don't wanna do this is a very very nice tool."

My girlfriend said "Fine. Show us your good "Item"." He used some of the pads and placed them by my kitchen carpet. And, poured water and soap "Kirby special soap at the matter" on the floor and on the pad. I swear I was gonna be mad and say, "What a mess, you're not good." But no, I just watched. Apparently it worked, very well. Still mad that I have to clean up the soap and mess. "Alright," I said. The guy started looking around my house looking for, "A broom." Me and my girlfriend were very uncomfortable. I said "S-Sir, please stop! I'll get the broom myself." Nope, he ignored me and kept looking. Finally, I called the police and kicked him out.

My husband and I bought a Kirby 3 years ago... My complaint to the salesmen was our current vacuum leaves the room smelling like dog. After a few months with Kirby it started doing the exact same thing. The bags fill up too quick and we have never been able to actually get the shampoo cleaner to work. Today I had a Kirby salesman come in. I made it clear that I was not interested but they ''get paid just to clean a room'' even without a sale. Also he stated they will give me vacuum bags and a new belt. So I allowed them in.

He went over the sales pitch as usual and kept pushing the sale. I kept explaining that I was not interested. He then cleaned the room while his partner watched TV. He also stated that they were two sales away from winning a trip. Basically trying to guilt trip me. Trying to knock down the price more etc... They finally left without giving me the belt and bags. But a few hrs later came back with a supervisor with an even lower price etc... I politely declined and from this day forward no Kirby person will be allowed back in my house. I don't liked to be guilt tripped and pushed into something that I don't want to buy.

First and foremost, I really think there should be a time cut-off for any door-to-door salesmen. I understand that this is a way of life or, at best, a job "to get by" for some people. I can respect anyone who most likely gets more doors slammed in their face than parents of angsty teenagers. That being said, the following is a not so brief account of my Kirby experience. The young man was very nice. He was professional and polite. However, when he came up to my porch, he offered me a "free gift" and said he had a "product" called the "Avalir" that he wanted to demonstrate. Before I knew it, he was coming into my house even though I was reluctant to let him in.

He walked to my living room and set his magic box down. Before he opened it, I specifically said, "We do not have any money and we do not have good enough credit to finance anything." He said something along the lines of, "That's ok, we won't need any money from you today." He proceeded with his demo and was very good at pitching the vacuum and comparing it to our old one. He did prove, at least to our eyes, that the Kirby does seem to work very well. The suction power comparison alone is what did it for me. Now, I have known people who have owned various Kirby models and I know they are good.

Fast forward to the end of the demo and now we are finally talking money. The ENTIRE time he was doing his demo (he did it very well might I add), I told him that literally today was my first day on my job. My boyfriend has his first day on the job tomorrow. Neither one of us have remotely good credit. I really don't want a company to try to run my credit and it not go through or get approved and then have that negative outcome drag it down even more. But, I gave it a shot.

What to my wondering ears did I hear? A big, fat NO THANKS from the Kirby people. Then our fearless demonstrator says, "Well, l can call my boss and see if there is something else we can do." So, he steps outside and talks to his boss. He returns and says, "I'm sorry. There is nothing we can do." My "I told you that it wasn't going to work before you even took that thing out of the box" face was probably a mix between being upset, being sad and being embarrassed. Being embarrassed is not something I am comfortable with at ALL. I told him that all of our bills are due and we literally have $0.00 in the bank. We literally have NO credit cards. We literally, honestly, truthfully have BAD credit. All of these things that I kept repeating were not being listened to.

I understand it is their job to put pressure on people, but after he found out from his boss that there was absolutely nothing they could do to get the vacuum for us, his demeanor completely changed. This once happy, chatty, high-fiving young man suddenly became quiet. He very quietly packed his things up. The whole experience was irritating (because I knew we couldn't afford nor be financed for the vacuum), it was embarrassing and it was almost 2 hours of my life that I'll never get back.

The "deal" we were offered started out at $2298 with an upfront total purchase price -or- $808 down and $248 a month. THEN I say (for the hundredth time) that we absolutely cannot afford that. THEN he says, "Let me see what I can do." So, our next deal is $1700 with 0 down and 36 months of $70 payments. We say we could probably afford that but we still won't get it due to our credit history. In the end, it did not work for either of us. Seriously. In all fairness, I warned him before he opened the box. I told him I couldn't afford it.

What is the moral of the story? I will be putting a "No Soliciting" sign on my door. Side note: Congratulations if you've read this entire thing. He was very well trained. He was very nice until his mood shifted at the end. Also, you can get a refurbished model of the same exact item for around $800 if you do your research without having to go through all of that.

Can't believe this company is still in business. While the basic product itself isn't bad if someone is looking for a very heavy vacuum that does have a lot of suction power. Would be worth maybe 159$. But that is where it ends. Their basic business model is use high pressure... take no for an answer door to door sales. Do anything to get in the door. Then they use what they call dirt pads... the more dirty pads they show you the better for them. Looks impressive, but believe me, any decent vacuum would show same results.

One of their claims is they eliminate the middleman by selling door to door... wrong. The poor guy doing the demo is low man. He does the demo, then the closer comes in. He or she is the high pressure sales person. He or she is the distributor who works for a wholesaler, or in turn works for regional wholesaler. Each one taking a cut. While the wholesale prices are somewhat set, the salespeople have a set cost, and can charge as much as they can get to the consumer. I'm sure the figures aren't exact and don't claim to know the exact details. But I sold these things for about a year, and felt guilty to anyone who ever bought one. The manufacture cost is about 79$, the regional wholesale price is about 160$, so far, that's pretty standard. But then it starts to get crazy. The wholesale price is around 350$.

The wholesaler go out and hire as many people as they can get to do the door to door. Knowing that 95% won't make a dime. But maybe get lucky and find one or two people who can do the high pressure. The people at your house can literally charge whatever they can get. Sometimes start out as high as 3000$, then when they cut down to 2000$ some uneducated people think, get I must be getting a deal. I've seen them sold for anywhere between 600$ up to one poor old lady paid 2400$ for a vacuum she couldn't lift. Have been to a few regional meetings for this company... it's like a pep rally. Sell sell sell... doesn't matter who or how much... just hope someone someday puts this company out of business. They are like vultures.

They came into my home with this big vacuum and did the demo. The girl who did the demo was great and did a good job. But I was surprised to find out it cost $3,000. I then told her I would not be buying their vacuum. After all that's what they were selling not a cleaning service.

I had already explained I'm currently looking for work and my husband is on disability. This was way out of budget for us. She said, "What about financing". I said, "I can't. I don't have good enough credit and really didn't want to run a credit check because it ruins your credit", she said, "It won't. I said, "Sorry not taking the chance and I don't have the money for payments". She said, "What if I pushed them back 5 months." I said, "How do I know I'll be working in five months. If I'm not then I end up screwed." She finally after 2 hours got it and left. By the way this was false representation. They lied about who they are just to get into your house to sell you an insanely overpriced vacuum.

Do not let sales people push their way into your door... or even on your property. You will be sorry if you have warranty problems or even a simple replacement, plus not given any consideration to working out a agreement to make everyone happy. They do want to be bothered after they take your money and done. And said they would leave extra cleaning shampoo only to find flooring shiner instead, in a rental home with carpeting.

If you purchase one I wish you luck and hope you have better time and experience with this product and do not think of complaining, asking for the box or give them your other vacuum, you will wish to have back. Prepare yourself. And I was still being courteous, yet was given an attitude. I guess the company does not have salespeople give you a clear explanation of warranty because they do not follow it anyway. And if I called a day late when told lifetime warranty well then I guess I am wrong. Other companies have more courtesy and considerations. Win some and lose some, I am in no position to win with my health issues. I give up. No energy. Just a warning.

No other vacuums I have ever used clean like my Kirby. I also have the Dyson ball (bagless, purple, pet). Hated it from the first time I used it. I purchased it because my Kirby was getting old and I had heard great things about the Dyson. Guess what - it's on a closet now and I am back to my Kirby. The experience with Kirby Vacuum Cleaners was horrendous... but it wasn't the product that caused the pitiful event, it was the Salesmen & Saleswomen. Let me explain: A cute woman came to my front door and asked if she could do a cleaning demonstration on my carpeted stairs. She explained that if I allowed her to do the demo, she would get to go on a company trip to Mexico. So I agreed to the demonstration. She said she would be right back in a few minutes with her supplies. Several minutes later, a man and some other woman came into my home and began setting up a large vacuum cleaner which I then discovered was a Kirby. The other girl told me the same thing: "If you let me do a demo, I get to go on a trip to Mexico."

Ok, so first off, did you notice the bait & switch Job they did on me? A beautiful woman comes to my door, but then two trolls are the ones barging into my home later. The first woman said she would be the one doing the demo. Lie number one. The two trolls set up the Kirby equipment and the guy suddenly leaves. So the other girl is left in the home with me, wanting to clean my carpet that had just been cleaned earlier by the maid service. The girl was nice but I had agreed only so that somebody on the earth could go to freaking Mexico, for God's sakes!

Upon completion of the 3 hour long demonstration, yes it took 3 hours... the girl went from nice demo person to hardliners sales demon. She laid into me hard about buying a Kirby vacuum cleaner for $1300.00. Who purchases a vacuum cleaner for that kind of money??? The second lie came when the girl told me that she could not go to Mexico unless I bought the unsightly machine. That's when I lost it and went looking for her manager who was somewhere in the neighborhood lying to another family. I was very angry that these people were being so deceptive in an attempt to sell me something I didn't want. Did I mention I use a maids service? I was only trying to be nice to the women who said they would get to go to Mexico on the company's dime. I finally kicked them out of my home when they would not accept no for an answer. They were totally disrespectful to me in my own home.

To make a long story short, the Kirby Vacuum Cleaner Salesmen in the Houston, TX area are liars, and manipulators. They possess no integrity, and are very rude and disrespectful. They took my kindness for weakness, and that turned out to be their mistake. Don't let these sales people into your homes. I researched and discovered that the Kirby sales people are trained to lie in an attempt to sale their super expensive vacuum cleaners. They are a very unethical group of people to say the least.

The sales tactics of this door-to-door sales company are as unethical and high-pressure as I have ever experienced and now I've gone through it twice in my life. They trick you to get inside your house, won't take no for an answer, and will try to overcome every single objection you may have to buying their vacuum, including lying. They guilt trip you into thinking you have a grossly unclean house. I have a host of medical issues that would prevent using this vacuum, and have a house-cleaner come every week.

The 20-year-old young man tried convince me he had the very same issues but he still was able to handle the heavy machine, etc. I said, "Boy, you have a lot of health issues for a 20-year-old." It got pretty entertaining hearing him twist himself into a pretzel just to make a sale. They will also negotiate wildly just to make a sale. That means you can name your own price if you stall long enough. The problem is, most people are checking out these reviews after they have been taken for a ride. I bought a Kirby 40 years ago after the same kind of home intrusion. But I didn't buy it from that salesman, I got a deal on a brand new one from guy selling them out of his store.

I only paid a couple hundred bucks for it, had it rebuilt when it wore down, and it lasted 40 years. I only got rid of it because it was too heavy and became like hauling around a tank. It is a top-of-the-line vacuum. But I would scout around for a used, refurbished, or nearly new one. I would not reward these kind of sales tactics with a sale. The only reason the guy got in my house is through false pretenses. Said he wanted my opinion on some products, said I looked truthful, said he needed my help to win a trip, and then he shoved a 'free gift' at me - air freshener. THEN, he hauled in his paraphernalia.

I knew what I was in for having experienced the same tactics 40 years ago, so just let him clean my house free. Be prepared to have him there for 4 hours. You may have to call the cops to get them out of your house without a sale, though. Hyperbole, but not far from the truth. By the way, it is impossible to rate the vacuum without the sales overall experience for those of you that chastise that in these reviews, because they make a great product, but SUCK at how they treat you during the sale. No pun intended.

So I wasn't happy and told them already if how long is it gonna take because my husband have an appointment at 6:30pm! So this guy said "Why do I need to help my husband for his eye appointment? Am I going to assist him?" Like are you ** kidding me?!!! Always say inappropriate joke!

I keep telling these guys our appointment but he seemed that he didn't care! So I was mad already then he assembled this smaller one and said that one is good for mattresses! So he suddenly got up and heading to our master's bedroom with no permission and not even asking me! He was already on the stairs and I shouted that they need to leave and we don't really want any strangers going in our house especially bedroom! And told them it was my mistake to let them in! So he said "Why are you hiding something? Is there a dead body in your bedroom?" Wtf! This is a crazy person!!! Told them at this moment that I'm not getting any of their products and he said I was the 1st person who said that and my neighbor bought 2 already... So I am???? And told them that our appt is at 6:30 and my husband was mad too because he's been waiting for me outside so we were arguing already because of these people!

It was already 6:20 and he even put a lot of baking powder in my carpet then used my vacuum to remove it!!!! I was like crazy mad. And they intentionally packing their stuffs really slow so we will be late on our appointment so they can stay!!!! Then while he packs up he asks me about which vacuum am I going to buy in the market like nothing crazy is happening! He officially ruined my day off!!! I'm not going to say anything bad about the other guy (** guy) because he didn't do anything wrong / he even said nothing. He was just standing there and help him clean up! But this ** Guy is crazy! I don't have anything good to say about him! He is just crazy!

There was a lady who called me so many times to make a demo for this product, I gave them a chance to show us what kind of product they are offering. Me and my husband was so amazed to the item they offered installment basis, they offered free training. After we signed the contract and got the item, they promised to give us a training the following day. This lady came to us and show what are the use that product. I requested her to send someone for proper training since there is cd inside the package. She said there are someone who's in charge for proper training.

It was November 2015 since we got the item. I've been calling them for that request, unfortunately no one came. I called their customer service number but they keep promising they will send someone. We try to used the machine without our full knowledge of the product coz it's 13thousand dirhams. Their product has a lot of usage that's why we are requesting a proper training but they never grant our request.

Then I called the office again to request for purchasing of shampoo so and a training again. There was 1 guy name Jazon who came over to bring the shampoo for 100dhs. I told this guy to come to my requested date so he can train me as well for that machine. He said just pay the shampoo and he will come back in the requested date.

I change my weekly off just for that training. Then 10 am I was trying to call him his phone was switch off so I decided to call the office. They said that maybe he's on his way, but unfortunately no one came. The next day I called the guy he said they are close at that time. He didn't know that I called their office to ask where is he. I was so shocked because those people are always fooling. Always playing around. What can I expect from saleslady to their manager???

Then after 1 year November 2016 this guy Jazon came to my place because I requested again and again for proper training. After 1 year of waiting he came over to grant our request, I was about to open our DVD player for the cd so it's easy for us to know how it the machine use, but shockingly he said "excuse me I can give maximum 10 mins of my time for this training coz I have so many clients to attend." Imagine after 1 year of waiting he never grant our request for the training and he was very rude in front of our 2 boys which is 4yrs and 2yrs old, to think that we are the customer. We were so disappointed, sad to say they will call us for payment and it's always been payment in advance but the service they are offering was so disgusting, so annoying and so disappointed.

One of my friend also from Abu Dhabi return the item after paying almost 9 thousand dirhams because of their very bad service. I want to sue them. I went to police to file a complaint for this company who's doing this kind of business. I hope this company in UAE will close because they are sucks. They don't have knowledge about customer service, they know only how to sell but they don't know how to keep their promise. Every time I see this Kirby Vacuum I felt cheated. If only I can turn back time I will not buy this disgusting product. Imagine for 13 thousand dirhams we cannot use the product. I will post the add in Dubizzle or Facebook not to buy this kind of item here in UAE. They have a very bad customer service. On June 2017 we completed our payment that's why they never called us because this is their work. To fool people for their business. I will definitely go to police and sue them.

My daughter came over today to share her experience with Kirby and their reps. They offer to clean a room or area for free. That's their "demo". So this guy comes in to clean the living room and couch. First, he has to clean the vacuum and asked for a knife. What? Then he tries to get my daughter to let him in her bedroom. Luckily, her roommate is home and they argue the guy back into the living room. Then the sales pitch. My daughter says no as she already knows how much this Kirby cost ($3,000). He pressures her. She says no, several times. Instead of leaving, he argues, curses, and threatens her! Says he knows where she lives! She calls the cops. He bolts. My daughter tells the officer what happened, what the guy looks like, etc. He says he'll be back. When the officer returns, he tells her that yes, the guy's a Kirby rep, he's with other guys and they were on their way to Elko, deciding to stop off and sell some vacuums.

He warned the guy not to come back or the officer, personally, would arrest him and put him in jail. He DID threaten someone. My daughter also tried to contact Kirby, at two different numbers. NEVER talked to a human being ONCE! Even tried every button and only listened to the auto bot. I do have a Kirby and felt pressured into buying it but after 10 years, I love it!

Other Kirby reps have come to my house to try and get me to upgrade but I always say no and have not had anyone be rude or threatening. I have stopped letting them in my house, now with good reason, I guess. I tell them no thanks, I have one, don't want a new one and will contact you if I have any problems, which so far hasn't happened. Kirby needs to up their game as far as their reps though. Sounds like they will hire just anyone and their customer service gets an F. I sent them an email, detailing all of the above and telling them they seriously need improvement, maybe not with their vacuum cleaners but with the people hired to sell them.

We just had a demo for 4 hours tonight. He said it won't take much of our time. My husband asked can these guys do a demo, they said it won't take long. Honestly I was impressed by the demo. We did pay full price but we're quoted they were originally 3,000.00 so we were getting a military price being active duty. Then realized it wasn't. I am not fond of the lying part. Mostly I'm upset about the fact the Kirby that was demonstrated was in an old used up Kirby box torn in corners and the equipment they gave us is used from previous shows he said. He literally said it was from the neighbors before us but he lied because the equipment we had paid for was filthy and dry in the receptacle. We had not noticed that part until he had already left.

When I asked for shampoo for the carpets, which was initially told they were doing and never did, he said all he had one this, and it was an empty 8 oz pop bottle filled a 1/4 of the way with sudsy water. I asked him for a distributors bottle and he said he didn't have it. He was really trying to race out of the house and I asked him if we have everything he looked and shuffled all the pieces in the tattered box and said yup. This was not new equipment and did not make it clear we were purchasing old equipment for $2,200.

As he ran out of the house his reasoning he had to catch up with his boss. I immediately checked to see if all the equipment was there from the instruction Manual that tells what comes with it and we were lacking pieces. We honestly felt like we had purchased old equipment with parts missing and then coming on here showed us not only that we paid almost 3,000.00 when we thought we got the military discount, and people on here bought one for less than 1,000.00! The most infuriating thing is we didn't get all the parts that go with it. Are all the Kirby sold USED? I guess that is my real question. He laughed when I said can I have a new one with a new box? He told me that is not how it works, with a chuckle.

Had a couple Kirby salespeople stop by the house today. The guy handed me a bottle of some cleaner, saying that was how they advertised, then asked me if I'd ever heard of the "Avalir". When I said no, all of a sudden, they'd gotten one (it's a vacuum, turns out), and he was inviting himself inside our house for a demonstration. The tech would do it. Usually I'll say no, but he said they'd get $50 if they did the demonstration. I figured, "What's the harm? 15-20 minutes and they get $50 for it, even if I don't buy? Cool." The tech was very nice and did her job great while the guy went on somewhere else. She was new, but we didn't have any real problems talking with her or anything.

However, the demonstration took THREE HOURS. I had today off for the first time in two weeks, and was very excited to just relax, but that's three hours.

But sure, the vacuum worked great. Our rug and couch are extremely clean. We'd just bought a decent vacuum, and the Avalir performed better than it. We figured if the Avalir was under $300 we might consider it, at least. Nope. The vacuum is $3000, not including tax.

No consumer vacuum is worth that much money. It performed well, but I wouldn't have pegged it for over $500, max. Maybe good for commercial cleaners, but no way am I spending that much money on a vacuum ever. Again, this isn't a review against the demonstrator herself. She was very personable and earnest, and we liked her. But Kirby needs to rethink how it sets up its demos. I looked for a place to leave a review, and turns out, a lot of reviews are saying the same thing. That is a lot of time that I wish I could get back on my day off, and I know others feel similarly.

Recently seller came to my house and offered me to clean one room for free. I refused, but seller was so persistence (It will take only 30 minutes or less) that I gave up and allow him to clean one room. Actually he show his vacuum cleaner Kirby. It worked very well but when he told me price $3000 I refused to buy it. Only one today offer - $2587.67 I refused. Another seller came. They both try to convince me about saving if I will buy their cleaner. I did not want to be rude and ask them just Get Out! It took almost 3 hours marathon conversation. They show me over and over advantage of Kirby cleaner. That it is lifetime warranty. If in a 10, 20, 50 years cleaner will be broken they will replace it for $75 with new one. That with just one call if I will have a question, their representative come to my house and solve any problem I have. If I use cleaner lady, they will come and explain her how to use cleaner.

These sellers were so good and I was so stupid that finally I bought cleaner. When they left I realized that it was bad decision. By the way when they left they took my vacuum cleaner. I called them immediately and request to take their Kirby back and to return my vacuum. They came next day and returned my cleaner. It took another hour to convince me about advantage of Kirby. But that time I was strong. They promise to refund money within a week. Today is one month passed, no refund. I called many times to local Henderson representative. No reply. I called RJP Enterprises (Palm Spring, CA) - no reply. This is not all.

One of my neighbor, (she is mentally incapable to make decision) also bought Kirby cleaner. When I asked her what did she buy? She actually have no idea about this purchase. Her daughter from CA request to take Kirby cleaner back. They took it but did not return her vacuum cleaner. And so far no refund. These Kirby sellers target mostly retirement community and prey on old and incapable persons. Be aware! I am not suggesting you to buy Kirby cleaner or not. It will be your decision, just told you my bad experience.

I am a young housewife new to my area. When a woman approached my door offering a free carpet cleaning like several of my other neighbors I agreed. Moments later a man, let's call him Earl came in and introduced me to Kate. He told me this was Kate's first time on her own and he would be leaving her to clean my carpet. She did a great job. She explained the product very well. Demonstrated everything and impressed very well. She started by vacuuming using little white disk which are now all over my house. After about an hour she hands me the payment sheet and at that moment I knew this was not the tool for me. 3,000.00 for a vacuum. That's a car, NO vacuum is worth that. That's when I started reading reviews. I made up my mind that this is not the product for me. But hey I was offered a FREE CLEANING so I let her continue.

Another hour passed and Earl returns trying his best to sell this thing to me. "Don't I want the best?" "What about a payment plan?" "Well, Why not?" My answer was still no. He then looks at Kate and says "So you can pack this stuff up. I have to get back to my other house." Where was my free shampooing? Scam. Scam. SCAM! Do NOT buy this vacuum!

Seen the ** van headed up my drive on my security camera. Looked old and decrepit. Also leaking oil on my concrete. Knock on my door. Some 18-year-old girl who may as well pulled her clothes out of an NYC dumpster standing on my patio. Offers me a roll of cheap garbage bags? I don't know. Threw it in the trash after she left but anyways... "My company is new in this county and we're offering free carpet or hardwood floor cleaning in a room of your choice." Not interested. "If you accept I can win a vacation to Anchorage, Alaska for 3 whole days!" How long will this take? "30 minutes."

So I invite her in and right away I noticed her dirty disgusting pair of Vans she had on and told her to leave them at the door. "You won't have to worry about dirty shoes in your house ever again sir after what I'm about to show you!" Seemed so scripted. Then a knock at the door. I opened the door and there stood some dude who looked as though he hated life with a Kirby vacuum. At this point I knew what was happening. Big mistake on my part but whatever.

So they set it up, kept talking about how amazing this behemoth was. Don't really care. Asked me where the woman of the house was to which I replied that she's somewhere far from here, luckily. He thought that was funny. So he leaves in his van, "high-level clients". Yeah whatever. Don't care. She requests to vacuum my hardwood floors with my vacuum. Sure, knock yourself out. She then uses the Kirby vacuum in the same spot and right away points out how amazing this vacuum is compared to the pile of heaping trash my wife and I use all because it picked up some hair? I don't know. Still don't care. Told her to cut to the chase. How much? "$2,400 with available financing." Nope. "But sir this is an amazing vacuum that will work wonders on those pesky dust mites and hair. Did you know that dust mites crap in your mouth and eyes?" Nope. Don't care.

So this presentation went on for an hour. She ended up getting the price down to 1,000. I told her if that vacuum isn't worth 2,400 l, it sure isn't worth a 1,000. Please get out. "Can I at least show you the shampooing side of things?" On what? My door mat? Nope. Not interested. Wouldn't pay 1 grand for a vacuum in my lifetime. She then starts in on how I don't care about my health or more importantly my wife's health because our vacuum doesn't rid dust that cause asthma and other illness. Still don't care. I grabbed her vacuum and all the silly attachments and set it in my sunroom while she was using my restroom. She comes back out upset that I moved her vacuum outside my house and into the sunroom. Told her she had 2 minutes to vacate or I will call the police. So she pleads with me to have her boss talk to me. She doesn't want to get fired and she really wants that trip to Anchorage. Don't give a damn.

So she finally grabbed the vacuum out of my sun room and boxed it on my patio. Her boss picked her up and they left. I know how this looks. Yeah I'm a ** whatever. She would not take no for an answer during the 1.5 hours she was here. Insulting my Shark vacuum and mine and my wife's cleanliness. Saying I don't care for my health. Really? Not to mention she dressed very unprofessional and looked like a rat. Same with her boss. Sorry. If you want me to buy a vacuum even for 500, you've better look the role of a decent salesman and persuade me into buying it without insulting myself or my belongings. Yeah, and that oil stain in my driveway from that scum mobile pissed me off as well.

Before today I had never heard of Kirby, and Kirby salespeople have officially ruined my weekend and caused me more stress during an already stressful time. A man came to my door and said he was promoting a new cleaning company in my town. He said that he did all my neighbors' carpets and that they would shampoo one room of my carpet for free. So I said yes. Then he left. Two other men came with a huge box. The guy made me vacuum the carpet with my own vacuum, then he vacuumed it with the Kirby vacuum, to prove how "good" the Kirby one was. Then he showed me other stuff for 2 hours!

I was so bored and tired of listening to this man trying to sell me a $2,500 vacuum. I told him "No, I don't have the money. I just bought a new house." He kept lowering the prices, kept saying just sign here. When I asked him why I would sign anything because I was not interested, he told me to go ahead and do it. That he will just leave it here and it's easy to return. I have 3 days. Then he begged me, because he wanted to win a trip to Virginia. Then he made me feel awful about not buying a vacuum. Then he lowers his price to $638 for a different model of the Kirby. He wouldn't take no for an answer, so after 2 hrs. of him being manipulative trying to make me buy the vacuum, I finally did. Then he told me that I really took him for all he has and that I was a good negotiator. (Turning the tables on me, when I didn't was not interested in the vacuum.)

He never finished shampooing all of my carpet, he only did a small section! Then I look at the vacuum cleaner he left me and it's dirty, has scratches, and looks refurbished. He never told me this was a refurbished vacuum. I was not prepared to deal with manipulative "don't take no for answer" playing with your emotions person. Now I just feel disgusted with people. Which I mean honestly the vacuum cleaner does a decent job cleaning, but it's got too many options in which I will never use. The shampooer on it sucks. I don't vacuum enough to spend this much on a vacuum cleaner. I am going to try to return it within return policy, but I have a feeling it will not be easy.

I said yes (Yes, I'm stupid!). She came in with a box and her supervisor followed with a box. They proceeded to praise me about my house (Of course! It's a gorgeous house!) and asked what kind of vacuum I had. I told them I had a Kirby. They stopped. "What model?" "Avatar? Avalir? Avalanche? I don't remember. Do you want to see it?" And I brought it out of the closet. It was the same model they were putting together. "OH! When did you get it?" "Within the year." "Oh, well, then..." and they packed up their boxes and picked up the Clorox wipes and left. They didn't vacuum my carpet, even just one room.

I don't mind people trying to sell things. I would like honesty. I had bought the Kirby from two young men doing the same sort of thing, but they said they wanted to show me the Kirby. They were honest and upfront and I appreciate that. Don't tell me you want to vacuum my carpet and don't vacuum my carpet. Today I had the most unpleasant experience dealing with a salesperson from Kirby Vacuum Cleaners. The doorbell rang and I proceeded to look out the window to see if someone was outside and to tell if I should open the door. I am not the owner of the house, as I'm the daughter (keep in mind). I didn't see anyone, so I thought it was just a package being delivered. Unfortunately, when I opened the door, there was a lady, and I stepped out to get my dogs to stop barking. She proceeded to ask about whether or not I was the head of the household which I said no. The lady then proceeded to speak very quickly about Kirby Vacuums and how they would clean one room for free and how my neighbors (listed them by name) also let them clean their stairways. I'm a nice person, so I has I hesitantly said sure they can clean a carpet and then she asked me to bring back my vacuum too and I was like... Okay?

I was thinking it would be at a different time than today since I'm sick. She then went away and brought back her friend, Mortez or something like that and they brought the stupid vacuum with them. She then proceeded to leave the house and left with me some random dude in my house who proceeded to NOT clean my stairs, but clean 5 of them and a corner of the living room by pouring baking soda as a comparison to my own vacuum. He was there for 3 FLIPPING HOURS (not exaggerating) because I told them I was not the head of household and I did not have the money to buy a new vacuum since I'm a broke college student. They said they could speak to my mom when she got home and I told them she wouldn't be back until between 5 and 7. They said they'd come back if I gave them a call and they left the vacuum here at my house so I was forced to call.

I then immediately spoke to my mom and she told me to call back immediately. I did that and I called and told the lady to come back and take their vacuum because my mom did NOT want the vacuum. She quickly said she'd call back and then didn't and then came back at 4:30 and asked if whatever his name was could finish his demonstration so he could be paid his $30. I said fine thinking it would take 30 minutes and he proceeded to count the number of stupid dirty pads he lined up in my house to make sure he had enough. He then soaked the hardwoods because he didn't know which pad to use. And then the lady came back to tell him he was using the wrong one and then went over the same 7 ft area of the hardwoods of my house for 10 minutes. She then told the guy to clean up the extra water and then clean the vacuum and she left.

He then proceeded to spend THIRTY FLIPPING MINUTES putting the vacuum into the stupid box by spending 10 minutes wiping down the stupid vacuum with a paper towel. The lady finally came back as he wiped down the vacuum and she said to stop trying to waste time to wait for my mom and pack it up and she's ready when he was. (In other words, she admitted to me she was wasting my time so she could until my mom got home). They were here for a total of 3 hours and to top it all off, she asked me how much I thought a vacuum costed and I said about $500 (which is cheaper than a Dyson for crying out loud) and she said, "Are you crazy?" Like I was an idiot.

She spoke to me saying that it would insane for that type of equipment to be $500 because it was a 13 in 1 machine and it picked up so much more dirty and blah blah blah. She then said it was $1100 or $41 payments for like 36 months which is still like $1400 dollars. FOR A VACUUM. The lady was rude when I assumed that a vacuum should be a reasonable amount and she was rude by wasting my time. If I could give them a -100 stars, I would. What a waste of 3 flipping hours.

I totally agree with most of the reviews about the salespeople and the demonstrations. As far as the quality of the product, I can state emphatically that they are the easiest and simplest to repair. I purchased the Classic III in 1976 and it still runs and performs like new. I have since purchased 10 other Kirbys on the internet (eBay, etc.). I have 2 Heritage II Legends, 1 Generation 3 my mother had, 3 Generation 5s, and my latest purchase, an Ultimate G Diamond with the attachments for $50.00. (No this is not a typo) Fifty dollars. It just needed a little TLC and it works beautifully. The other vacuums I purchased for friends at their request. They are a little heavy (I'm 72 years old) but the Generation and up series have the tech drive that makes it effortless to push around.

I unwittingly allowed 3 strangers into my home. I don't know why I did this. They asked if I would give an honest opinion of a product (after trying to lure me in with some free comet), I said, "sure" thinking they were going to tell me about something. They literally ran to their van (two men) and came back with the vacuum system. I should have stopped them then, but I did not and I have no idea why. Only one man stayed while the other ran back to the van and drove off. Weird. My heart sank, what have I done.

The sales pitch went on for 2 hours. Seriously. At least my kids had a blast. He did the side by side test with my vacuum. I was almost fooled, as his little thing picked up a bunch after I used my vacuum... I later realized that the guy "cleaned" my area rug, but had to go over it about 600 times before it stopped picking up junk. Tonnes of junk. Now... I know that means I have a dirty house, but it also means the results from the side by side comparison weren't all that amazing now either. Just a thought on marketing. He really made me think it was great, but that's suspect.

Into hour 2 he finally got to the price. $2,700!!! WHAT??? But since he could win some random trip by selling this vacuum, all expense paid (because I really want to finance this) he was going to give it to me for $2,400. Nope. Sorry. Called some random someone who gave him the go ahead to bring the price down to $1800. Nope. Sorry. Called again. What, she's not a sucker? Ok, another person is coming to try to convince you to buy this thing. This guy knew I wasn't buying anything but he didn't want to get in trouble or something. Marketing? So he set it up all nice for me to look at with all the dirt from my floor lined up on pads.

Different guy comes and tries to convince me that I have to have this vacuum to have a clean house and it's not just a vacuum, it's a whole cleaning system. Nope, sorry. Calls random someone again and says things like, "I know she's crazy but can you give her a better deal? WHAT? SERIOUSLY? Ok, I'll talk to her and call you back." Comes down to $1,300. Then $1,000. No. I don't want it. Yes, I will say no to a deal I can't turn down. Finally ends at $800. Nope. Sorry. Earlier I had told them that $300 was my max that I'd spend on a vacuum. By the end he said, "So you'd buy it today if I told you $300." Nope, not now, sorry after that runaround. I just want to know the lowest price off the bat. "Ok, well..." They finally left.

If they are willing to start it at $2,700 and shave off $2,000, you know they are ripping you off and we hadn't even looked at any contract stuff. This company is a joke. How can you trust how great it is when you can't truly compare and when they can drop the price like that and still be making money? The man who actually did the demonstration wasn't super pushy and was nice enough, but the 3rd guy who came in was very rude and unprofessional, and honestly a bad actor. He was willing to say I was an idiot because I wouldn't pay an outrageous price and tried to make me feel bad that this dude may not get an all expense paid trip because of me. Nope, sorry. Please, If it's a great product it will sell itself. If not don't push it on me by using such foolish tactics. That makes me want to go out of my way to promote others to not buy the product.

I'm out $1,300 for a useless piece of crap at this point. To be honest, it never really cleaned better than any other vacuum. They just have deceitful people that go house to house to sell a lie. If I could give anyone considering buying one a piece of advice... Never even let them in your door. You will regret it.

Not just that, but the salespeople were aggressive. The guy who came to do the demo smelled like alcohol. So unprofessional! We rarely use the vacuum as it is heavy. How is this company still alive with all the negative reviews here? KIRBY VACUUM WILL ONLY IMPRESS YOU ONCE AND ONCE YOU PURCHASE YOU'LL REALIZE HOW INCONVENIENT THEY ACTUALLY ARE. This is a ripoff. All I needed to do was sign and my interest rate and payments would be set after approval. At that, asked him to leave and he packed up and left. My husband and I were at home preparing to leave in twenty minutes to take him to work when we received a knock on the door and there's Kirby reps. I told them I use to work for Kirby and that's when the first rep pushed past stating well good you know what I am going to do. Luckily the second guy was nicer and asked to come in. They just started vacuuming while my husband and I were running around packing his stuff to go to work. They didn't show us how to use it and would not take no for an answer. They waited outside for me to come back after taking him to work and then they had me call him at work while he was distracted and told him to just say yes to all the questions, but we were not aware this was the finance company.

Needless to say, they said, "Well your husband just agreed to the finance company to purchase the vacuum. They said I need you to sign his name on everything. They also stated we had a 30 day trial period and unlimited warranty and they would be back 3 times that month. Needless to say when we called and said we did not want it since no one came out 4 times like they were supposed to, to show us how it works and we changed our mind 9 days after the nonsense. The guy said, "Oh you only can change your mind the first three days." Then he said he would personally come out but never has he. I want this off our credit. This is an unauthorized sale since my husband was distracted at work and unaware to what he was told to say. Plus the vacuum doesn't even work!

No, I do not recommend Kirby to everyone. It is a tool and people should be properly educated regarding its purpose and use. Kirby vacuums are bulky, heavy and noisy. Dirt, dander, dust mites, matted hair, etc have a terrible odor and will cause the vacuum to smell. The door to door sales people are pushy, rude and annoying.

With that said, I must also state that the majority of complaints have absolutely nothing to do with how this piece of equipment operates. It has superior airflow & suction when adjusted to a proper height for the carpeting. The beater bar is capable of retrieving far more debris from deep with carpet fibers than competitive brands. The unit's sheer weight is partially responsible for its performance. As an owner operated carpet cleaning company for more than 10 years, Kirby is by far the most powerful vacuum on the market. I personally pre-vacuum every job using a G10 Sentria model. Personally, Kirby is a tool allowing me to outperform a superior job.

If you're not in the market for a vacuum, yes, it is obnoxious to have someone invade your home under false pretenses and spend so much time there. So, does the in-home sales process need work? Probably. But has it been working for the company for a long time? Obviously. They are one of the only companies still doing door-to-door sales. With all that being said, the vacuum itself is good. I can't say great for just a couple of reasons, but it's well above par.

If you have spent good money on your carpet - you need to be careful about the vacuum you are using. The first thing the flooring store we bought our carpet from told us when we bought our VERY pricey carpet was to be selective about our vacuum. We previously had a Dyson. And yes we LOVED it. Mostly because I was pretty sure it was going to suck the backing off the carpet. And the gents from the flooring store said that's not too far off the mark. It has a very aggressive beater bar and that is actually a lot of what makes it seem like it is working so well. Yes, it has a lot of suction also, but that aggressive beater bar is destroying those carpet fibers I just paid so much money for. They actually recommend Kirbys as a first choice (if you can afford it).

Make sure you can push it around - because it is heavy. It is cumbersome. And I do not recommend it if you have stairs. No joke. I don't think I would have bought it if I had stairs. I hate to even pick mine up when I take it in our camp trailer to clean. And I am young! I was younger when I bought it. I have owned it for many years.

How frequently are you going to use all those fancy attachments? For me... NEVER. I hate taking the "head" off this machine. Yes, it is supposed to be easy, but even during the demonstration I pointed out that it looked like a total pain. And even then, it is not the most convenient system. So, if you want or need little attachments a lot, I would say pass.

Do you love quality and reliability? Kirby has been around since 1914 (I had to Google it). So, if you are looking for a solid company, there probably isn't a more solid vacuum company. If you have an issue with your vacuum, you will not have an issue getting replacement parts or having it repaired. My friend still has hers which was purchased in the 70's. She has had it repaired once and put a few replacement parts on it. And I buy belts and bags on Amazon. Couldn't be cheaper or easier. So, you have to weigh it out. Yes, this is expensive for a vacuum. But it is an investment. It is the only vacuum you will ever own. Unlike other vacuums that will only last a few years, (8 on average - Google again) like my first Dyson, may it rest in peace, this one can be passed on to your kids so they can build up their muscles toting it around.

Now, regarding sales tactics, since that is what nearly all the reviews I read were about. I had a fantastic sales person. I can say I would not have purchased if I didn't. The one thing that I did not like, and if I had it to do over again, I would never do, is they asked for my old vacuum. I asked why they wanted it. The salesperson did not know why they collected them, just that I would never need it again. My assumption is that it was resold. It was nearly new and had I kept it, I could have sold it myself or donated it.

I have always wanted a Kirby after the in home demonstrations. I could not believe that I would vacuum with my generic Hoover or whatever brand and they would come right behind me and collect even more dirt from the carpet. I also could not believe the bedding needed to be vacuumed. But we relocated to a new rental house and we moved in and my wife had a serious allergy attack and needed to take an allergy pill to get to sleep. Once we bought the Kirby and vacuumed the house she was fine.

The Kirby is heavier and less convenient than many of the canister with hose attached units. But they do not work as well. I had a good sales experience but I also knew they were here to sell me something so make them get the price down. I am glad I bought the Kirby, it is an investment and I will not be buying another vacuum for a many years. So do with what you will the Kirby is a good device and legitimate reviews will not be the junk that I have read through here. People want to complain about the sales experience that is not relative to the function of the device. I am glad I own a Kirby and would purchase it again.

So, unlike a lot of the reviews here, I did not purchase this product. There were 3 salespeople. They started the price at NZ$35 per week, over 3 years. That's $35 x 156 weeks, which in total is $5,460. I calculated it, on my phone, right in front of them. They dropped the price to $27 per week. Again, I proceeded to calculate. $4,212. So I said "OK, let me look at few retail prices online" and what do you know I could not find a set going for any less than $1,500. Even at their lowest negotiated price, that's almost 3 times what they go for elsewhere. And I also came across these reviews, which was very helpful. Overall... too pricey, lengthy contract (for a vacuum), salespeople did not understand the term "we're really not interested, but thank you" - very pushy. The product itself looked great as shown in the 2 hour long demonstration (that is not even exaggerated)???

He showed us how much our cheap vac from Walmart was missing. The whole time I thought my wife will never buy this. He continued with cleaning a part of our bedroom carpet and my wife was impressed. He also cleaned our mattress and vacuumed the whole house and even let us use it also and I vacuumed everywhere and they both laughed at me.

He never once called anyone or pushed us into buying and even walked outside so we could talk about it. He even cleaned up the parts knowing we were buying and put everything back very neat and organized. He also went over everything about taking it apart, changing the belt, and did this several times to make sure we knew how everything worked. We did not have to do a credit app we just put it on our credit card. I have not had any problems out of this unit and it was 12 years ago. I have changed the belt every 6 months like he said I would have to and they are 5 bucks for 3 belts. You can get bags at a great price on Amazon. I just changed the wooden roller brush and it was 18 dollars. We paid 1500 dollars and it has been well worth the price.

“Resolution and Mediation of Issue with Kirby”
I would like to begin with a thank you to Sean at Kirby in reading and mediating my Consumer Complaint of the purchase of a Kirby Vacuum through a local distributor.
In following up on my prior remarks as referenced posted February 22, 2017 concerning a Kirby vacuum purchase made in October of 2016. I spoke about the tactics and lack of customer concerns. I spoke about the representatives of the distributorship and their tactics used in demonstrating and selling the product. I referenced several times to the representatives that I have fibromyalgia and was unable to use equipment that required muscle strength that I no longer have. I also, discussed the cost and trade-in of two vacuums that we used to get the cost down to a more manageable level, the loan procedures the distributor had and the fact my husband and I knew that our credit union could get us a lower interest rate loan. For the initial purchase we had to go through their loan process. As, mentioned in the Consumers Affairs report some parts were missing, the machine was difficult for me to maneuver, use on a daily basis. I also, discussed the interaction with the distributorship and representatives concerning difficulty and missing parts. Overall, I was venting because I always thought of Kirby as a reputable company. I know of its long history as far back as the 1920’s, family and friends who affirmed such since I was a kid. Imagine to my surprise and amazement days later after having read my consumer complaint I received a call from a preventative of Kirby Headquarters. The representative called and spoke to my husband and me telling us that he had seen and read my review and wanted to know what he could do to fix my perception of his company. My husband and I told him our story, supplied a paper trail of documentations both hand written and official paperwork. He agreed to be an intermediary and find a remedy if, we were willing to trust and accept the resolution once he had time to speak to the distributorship. At the time we felt it would be good to allow the process to work.. Whether or not an equitable solution was found or not, at least I vented. Imagine a corporation that actually does care about their customer base and their brand.
Our mediator called informing us that I may need to validate my medical claim as an issue to the inability to use the machine as demonstrated. I told him that was fine and that it would not be a problem to validate but, according to the “Golden Ager/Disabled Consumer Purchase Cancellation Procedure” it was my husband who purchased the Kirby for me. According to the Act or Procedure we had nine months and met the age requirement to cancel the purchase. The distributor attempted to persuade the mediator it was I, myself who made the purchase and I waited past the three day period in which to cancel said purchase. However, I knew that they were wrong I informed them that at the time. I would not be able to fully know if I could even handle the machine. So, working through the mediation process; management at the distribution center let me know that they no longer had my machines. They were fully working vacuums a Bissell and a Dyson (the Dyson within warranty) however, they would find some replacement. I let them know that they should not bother sending a piece of junk and call it adequate. The distribution manager informed me that it would take some time as they do not have good working machines that come in as trade-ins but they would find something. Well, as Paul Harvey always said “The rest of the story”…working with Sean our mediator we came up with an acceptable resolution. My husband got his full payment returned, the distribution center found a Dyson no warranty, little suction, and I was not going to keep a machine with no verification of warranty or excellence it was the best of the worst that the distributor could offer. We bought another Dyson with an extended warranty.
    Analysis of the mediation process:

1.It took time to allow the process to work.2. The distributorship was not going to make it easy to remedy the issue. All conversations are recorded.3.Proper documentation with dates, time stamps, names of who you interacted with, verifiable promises made written or spoken and sticking to the facts are highly important.4.Stand firm in your assertion when you have the facts on your side. Do not donate; trade-in your good working equipment for pipe dreams. 5.Remain respectful. 6.Appreciate the mediation process. Thanks to Kirby and Sean in particular, they have the right person representing them, fairly assessing and mediating with an acceptable solution to my particular issue. Finally, thank you Consumer Affairs for providing a way to complain, vent, and mediate a solution.

    Original Review: Feb. 13, 2017

I am writing this review due to the tactics and lack of customer concerns. Kirby representative came to my home in October as a door-to-door sales pitch without any prior interaction on my part. The initial representative handed me a small can of air freshener and said that I would be helping his young trainees out if I would let them demonstrate the Kirby vacuum. So, my husband and I agreed to help them with the demonstration for training purposes but, with no commitment to purchase. The representative left the two young men, one we learned a new recruit and the second a little more experienced and who was working on getting sales so he could take a company trip to Disneyland. The unskilled recruit gave the demonstration over a four hour period of time demonstrating all features, parts, accessories, ease of use, lightweight etc...

I informed them that although I've always wanted a Kirby because it was at one time a top of the company and customer friendly but, I have fibromyalgia and don't have the muscle strength that I once had. Both young men assured me that the machine was not difficult, was lightweight and wanted to get one for their own mothers and grandma. It's supposed to be a canister Vacuum as well as an upright. We were shown all the accessories that makes life easier and are built for specific purposes. That excited me as I mention more than once that we were looking at new flooring for the kitchen, hallway, and bathrooms but wasn't sure the type of material so having the different attachments for hardwood, tile, and carpets was great. When they gave us the cost of the vacuum, shampooer and accessories of a little over $2000. We told them we could not afford the machine and with my medical issue we weren't able.

However, the trainer reminded the learning recruit that if we had another vacuum to trade in that could get the price down. Well we had two an older Bissell and a Dyson that was still under warranty. They got the price down. My husband decided to finance it after letting them know that the loan may not go through and I would need time to see if I could manage the machine. We were given three days to take their loan which payments would start in January 2017. I informed them that if the machine was too difficult for me I would let them know when I did my Christmas cleaning the first week in December as we were planning on being out of state. At no time did either state the three day period was for a nonrefundable sale. They said it was for loan purposes. My husband did want the high-interest rate loan so, he got a low-interest rate loan from our credit union.

Well, at the end of October, I got the machine out, put the DVD in my computer and went over use of product a couple of times before plugging it in, as I mention to the men it has a learning curve so, anyone buying the machine would need time to learn the parts, taking it apart and putting it together. They agreed it had a learning curve. I opened the box of accessories started putting temporary labels on the pieces and realized three accessory parts were missing. I called the manager that brought the two sales recruits to the house and told him three accessory parts were missing, he came over that night October 31, Halloween night to see what I was talking about and when I showed in the manual the parts that were missing he said those are optional. I showed him all the accessories were optional and the salesmen demonstrated all of the accessories and implied that they were all part of the purchase.

He said "I can let you have one and I have to pay for it out of my (meaning his) own pocket," so I said I want the Turbo accessory... Haven't heard from him since. Called Kirby KOF &Associates LLC Fredericksburg, Virginia on January 6, 2017. Talked to customer service, explained that the machine is too difficult for me and I'm still waiting on the accessory promised. The customer service person said she would have the Kirby representative call. It's February 12, 2017 and haven't heard from anyone. We also talked to the Golden Ager/Disabled Consumer Relations Department explained the sales, the problems with use because the machine and attachments are too difficult for me. They referred us back to Kirby Fredricksburg. As I told the salesmen, the customer service and consumer relations I've waited a long time for a good vacuum so, I am really disappointed with how Kirby takes advantage of people.

They never corrected any misunderstanding during sales pitch, complaints or my purposely stating at each point during the demonstration and sales that I have fibromyalgia and do not good muscle strength so I may have to return the machine. The salesmen stated that Warren Buffet owned the company so, it had a good reputation. At the time we did not know that, the mention of Mr. Buffet's name gave us the incentive to go forward because people like him don't allow their name to be associated with a product that isn't in good standing.

After trying to use the vacuum I found it very hard to detach the head without getting down on the floor, the extension tubes are very long and unstable, I found it difficult to control them when trying to dust lighting on the stair landing, the canister does not allow use of powerhead on steps unless you hold the heavy canister with power head downward on the step and the body of the canister in your other hand which strains the back.

I like to vacuum the kitchen nightly but, I have to get down on the floor detach powerhead, attach hose and reverse operation so that I can vacuum the carpet. The extension pieces would slide apart as I attempted to use them to vacuum walls and other hard to reach areas. I haven't used the vacuum since December because it is too heavy, awkward and unwieldy for me. I bought an $80.00 Black and Decker, to do basic vacuuming. I asked customer service to just return the Dyson and I'd just let it go as I need something that would not wear on my health, she said that they don't keep the trade-ins. I told her that their sales representative said that they had to keep them for a certain time period and that they had a bunch of trade-ins stockpiled.

The sales people also pulled a fast one. They put my name as purchaser even though I told them I won't be able to get a loan, they said I would be secondary. The loan shows that I made the purchase and the owner registration has my husband's name as the owner. So on that premise the customer service representative dismissed my petition, the sales and management have made themselves unavailable and I now question the whole kit-in-ca-boodle from Buffet to the trainee. Unlike Buffet's chocolate choice I will never die for the need to fulfill my desire for a Kirby again...

Kirby's are $1200 worth of useless excrement. First off, the Kirby is like the Sherman tank of vacuum cleaners. That may be a "pro" to many users, and I appreciate that it could be run over by a monster truck and still work, but that doesn't outweigh the many negatives I've come to discover using this bothersome beast! They are cumbersome, they are heavy, and simply cannot maneuver or fit far enough under couches, chairs, coffee tables, or average kick space under kitchen cabinets to do a good job.

Unlike the cheaper and more convenient upright vacuums with onboard attachments, the Kirby requires a 3-4 step transformation from upright to canister (that takes too much time) for vacuuming under furniture, chairs, tables, kitchen kick spaces and upholstery/drapes. It seemingly only has 2 upright settings. Setting #1 Doesn't pick up **. Setting #2 sucks so GD hard you can't push it even in power-drive mode. The biggest con is the pain in the ass going back and forth between upright and canister mode. I would never recommend one of these 75 pound doorstops to my worst enemy. If another Kirby salesman ever darkens my door, I'll toss a bucket of cold piss on him.

The girl was thorough - well versed in the benefits and selling points of her product. That took more than an hour. Then she completed the vacuuming and shampooing of my bedroom. Another hour. Then her boss arrived and launched into his sales pitch. Enough. By then it was over 3 hours. I think the product is excellent but overpriced. On the positive side my bedroom carpet has come up a treat after a thoroughly professional and free clean!

What a disgraceful, deceptive action to get into a home!!! I had the experience for the first time about 20 years ago and vowed then that I would never subject myself to a Kirby onslaught again!! I failed to see the van with Kirby written all over it! The salespersons went back to the car to get the 'products' and the 'car' was not parked directly outside my house, so I failed to see the advertised 'product'. When I admitted these people to my home I stated at the very onset that I would not be purchasing the product. I repeated this several times throughout the enormously dragged out presentation.

I was FAR TOO NICE!!! How many times did Vanessa, the salesperson, ask me what I liked most about the product??? I lost count!!! There were many deceptions. I was told that Vanessa would be paid for executing her presentation and so when she asked me to take my Dyson out of my cupboard so that she could compare, I said no that it was not necessary. She replied that she needed to do this to be paid!!! This presentation went for over an hour and a half!!! What I don't have anything better to do with my day? I should have turfed them out as soon as I saw the advertisement on the van. Then came the phone call to the boss who reduced the price by $1000. Mm, I'm still not interested!!! Thanks Kirby, DO NOT CALL AGAIN... EVER!!!

This Kirby company caused so much stress on me and my boyfriend!! We were having a great evening together watching a movie when we get a knock on the door. An innocent friendly looking woman said that she gets points to go to Disneyland for every room she cleans for free and that she's NOT selling anything and doesn't want our money. She also asks if I'm the head of the household, which I say yes. I thought it was a carpet cleaning company honestly, and I thought why not. It was a horrible decision on my part. She leaves, and two other guys come into the house... Deante and Vladimir. They start cleaning the carpet and start bragging about all the amazing things the vacuum can do, and I was so confused cause the lady said they WEREN'T selling anything. I asked how much the vacuum was, and he said 3,500. In my head I was like HELL NO am I paying that much for a vacuum, I'm a 20 year old who doesn't need that right now.

Vladimir asked if I have a vacuum and I said yes, then he made me bring it out and started to tell me all the reasons why HIS is better than mine. All I wanted was a carpet cleaning for free!! He tells me to bring my boyfriend out so he can show me all the things it can do to him. I felt weird about that, but he was really persistent. My boyfriend has no money and is only 19 so I figured he'll just listen to the salesman babble and be done with. Well, I had to go to work, so I said goodbye and left.

When I get off work, I get a text from my boyfriend he bought the ** vacuum!!! They took his credit card info and his social security number. They knew I was the head of the household, but they still felt the nerve to push my boyfriend to the limit when I wasn't home! I was furious. I also came home to find out, my boyfriend traded in my vacuum to lower the price to 2,800... which is still outrageous for a vacuum. He said he told them no he wasn't interested many times, but they pushed him to give him his personal information and SS just so they could "check to see if he qualifies for it." He then just demands that my bf signed it, which was a horrible decision on my bf's part to go through with it!

I was crying and called the seller back two hours after they sold it, and let them know that we want to cancel everything and they said they will be back in 30 minutes. We wait, and they never show up. I call Vladimir again two hours later, and he says he has nothing to do with the finances and that they will come back in the morning. AGAIN, THEY NEVER SHOW UP. I asked my boyfriend if they said we could cancel it when they were selling it to him. My bf said that Vladimir said that you can cancel it at ANY time. He straight up lied. You only have THREE business days after the vacuum is sold to cancel it. We called and called and called, giving many notices to the manager we want it canceled. He kept ignoring our calls and saying he was busy.

In the contract it was very unclear and said to "mail" the contract back to them, signed, but it had to literally be in their hands within the three days. Mail can usually take up to that many days to ship somewhere, so it would be too late. We wanted to deliver the mail ourselves. We went to the address, and all we saw was a big green shed that looked like storage units. No building that said "Kirby." No official businesses. Just a sketchy private building. We googled the address and it only popped up an AC company. We called the company and asked if they were in relations with Kirby, to which they replied "Absolutely not. Don't ever call us back!" and hung up on us. We assumed they must get a lot of calls from people that need to return their vacuums!!

On the LAST day that we had to cancel the contract, the only thing that helped us was that we decided to contact the cleaner Vladimir since Deante (the owner) was not being helpful at all. To our surprise Vladimir told us he's not working there anymore and he quit. The owner didn't pay him for his work, and Vladimir is planning on suing him!! Vladimir explained to us that the green shed looking building is the official office. We were finally getting somewhere and we felt some hope!!! We told Vladimir thank you and good luck with his case. Right after that conversation Deante finally called us back, and his first concern was "When did we sell it? It's already been three days right?" And we were like "We still have all day until midnight today, it says so on the contract." So it's clear these crooks want to make it as hard as possible to contact them until the three days are up!!!

Deante got mad and said we are "frustrating him" by constantly trying to contact him. Anyway we drive over there, and go into the sketchy ass green building and luckily did not have to see Deante, we saw one of his employees who was really nice and took the papers for us and said we were good to go. We are sooo lucky that we got out of this. PLEASE don't let this happen to you! I already ruined my boyfriend's credit score, and made him stressed to the core! If he had to pay them the 2,800 for the ** vacuum, then he was planning on moving out to his parent's house out of state JUST so he can pay that off!

Most of the reviews I have read concerning Kirby Vacuums mostly deals with the salesmen. NOT the actual product. I bought my first Kirby back in 1986 and it is STILL going strong! The only complaints I have is the wand attachment. If you are using the hose the wand might not stay attached. It will sometimes fall off. The other complaint is the bag that catches the dirt. Over time inside the bag gets dusty and dirty. Looks like they would have designed so you could wash it or better yet, a canister!

Overall the vacuum is a good one that can be used for many home projects like paint spraying or an air compressor to blow up an air mattress, but I mostly use it for vacuuming. My mother had one back in the '70s and my husband's grandmother has one that was purchased back in the 1930s and it is STILL running strong! If you want one, buy one off of eBay or Craigslist. Buying a new one today is way too expensive! Mine cost new $800 back in 1986. I am considering buying another one for the upstairs.

Then when you finally give in and sign a contract and try to reverse it they avoid your phone calls and even the customer relations is NO help whatsoever. These filthy ** convinced my mom to sign a second contract after I wanted to return it and had the nerve to FORGE my signature and still took money out of my account after I wanted out of the contract and so now I'm battling United Consumers Finance because apparently the signatures that don't even look remotely the same are supposedly similar and tells me I'm reliable for the payments still.

First of all, let me state that I own two Kirby vacuum cleaners. One for the bottom floor and one for the top floor. I think they are really great vacuum cleaners. However, I did now pay the ridiculous asking price for a new one. The best way to buy a Kirby is to get a slightly used one on Craigslist. Instead of paying $2300 or so, I picked up a late model Sentria for $100 with all the attachments. My first Kirby, and older model, ran me about the same. They both work great and will last for years. This is the best way to buy a Kirby.

My experience with these Kirby Salesman was horrible. They came knocking on my door at 3:00 PM offering a "free steam cleaning" in one room. Casey, came in and I showed him what rooms I needed cleaned. He quoted $80! I thought what a great deal! He said he will be back in 20 minutes. They arrive 20 minutes later. I look out the window and see no van, but I see a dilapidated Chevy pickup truck. I immediately get suspicious. I then see Casey and his "helper" Howard at my door with a few boxes. This sure doesn't look like a carpet cleaning service to me. Howard starts unpackaging this box and lo and behold, a ** Kirby vacuum! I could've died!

Last time I checked I agreed to a professional steam cleaning, not a Kirby vacuum demo!! I have 6 kids so this was a major inconvenience for me. Casey, who was told I had less than an hour for all of this **, starts telling me about how he isn't trying to sell me anything, just explain the great benefits of the Kirby. So, he starts demonstrating to us his vacuum by inserting these white discs into the vacuum and cleaning a portion of my living room with it. He pulls the disc out and shows me all the dog hair and other nasty ** he pulled out of my carpet, then proceeds to set them on my coffee table. Ummmm, yeah, this is why I wanted a carpet shampooed, not a vacuum demonstration. He then did this 6 more times and then had the nerve to pour a bottle of sand all over my carpet without my permission. Totally uncalled for.

Howard was also lurking around "looking" at my house, probably scoping out things they could possibly steal. He continues on with the demonstration and then they FINALLY start the carpet cleaning. But this wasn't carpet cleaning, this was the vacuum spitting foam onto my carpet and then simply sucking it back up. He called this the "Kirby bubble bath". He did that in the rest of my rooms. The other guy Casey kept rambling on about his personal life like I cared while the other guy Howard was doing the vacuum cleaning. Not to mention, this vacuum was 2500 dollars. Absurd.

Once the cleaning was over Casey then cleaned the parts of this vacuum in my kitchen sink and left black pubs and whatever else from all the other houses he cleaned with this Kirby POS vacuum. And cleaned it with one of my towels. Don't open doors and definitely do not open them for Kirby. Very false advertising and invasion of my privacy and waste of time. Thank god my husband came home or these sales people scam artists would've been here until 2 in the morning trying to convince me to buy this stupid vacuum.

My poor wife had no idea what she was in for when she let these people into our home thinking it was just going to be a free cleaning of our living room carpet. So she gives the guy a chance and listens to the sales pitch as he cleans a section of the carpet. After she politely declined his first offer, they lowered the cost from $2,900 to $1,900, then proceeded to write up a payment plan for us. Then this lady knocks at our door and the sales guy lets her in. Backup salesman enters the house. She begins telling my wife about the history of the company and how this vacuum is the best thing in life and blah blah blah. My wife explains to her how we will not be purchasing the vacuum. Then the woman replies, "Well why not?!" Again, my wife politely tells the woman that we are absolutely not interested in purchasing the vacuum. At this point, I'm pissed. As she leaves I walk into the room and firmly tell the salesman to clean up and leave my house.

So he packs up and leaves. He knocks on the door again to ask me if he can use my phone to send a text to "someone" to come and pick him up because his phone was "acting up." I admit I don't know for sure, but this seemed like a shady sales tactic to get my number, because the whole time he was here, he was trying to get our phone numbers to make follow up calls, and he declined to leave his number with us. My friend was visiting from Mexico so I called the number from her phone and heard what seemed to be the saleswoman on the other end. I just didn't want there to be a chance for them to obtain my number. Be careful.

Well this guy knock at my door talking about doing me a free cleaning in some areas of my house. So I like to read on people. Uno that's me. And I said to myself "Hell nothing ain't free. Life ain't." So something told me "Let's see what the guy talking about. He might have something." So I decided to do so. He comes in and start unpacking a Kirby which my father was an owner of one a few years back. I loved that thing man. My father always said "You pay for what you want in life son." So as such things that have quality you can't find anywhere else.

Anyway, I let the guy start his what he called his demonstration. Nice stand up respectful guy to me anyway so to say. And he started pulling out all these pad things. I was telling him that "we just got through cleaning and stuff and my wife gone look at this like you just making a mess." And we (my wife) already own a Dyson Ball and a Bissell so we don't need another vacuum. Now the guy wanted to go to my bed and clean. I'm like "No buddy. No way... My bed ain't the problem. We don't like no one in our room." Anyway, my wife said go ahead and I was impressed with what he had clean out the bed because I do have asthma.

Most of all, I like the attachments, the ability to reach up high on the walls and everything. I can paint my walls with this thing great and deep clean. Things when he compared it to my Dyson it kill it. The Dyson is just lighter but it doesn't clean deep like the Kirby. Don't know why the bad reviews. I bought mine straight out for 1-800. The extra grand is for the finance charge, if your credit good you could get it for I guess $100 a month. But overall I got mine and it works fine and I will pass it down to my son one day. It's a great product that been around over a hundred years and pushing. It's really for people who love long-lasting professional products I feel.

I bought this piece of junk a few years ago for $1,500 and have hated it ever since. If you are under 5'4" you are always getting slapped with the hose. The hose never stays on. You have to clean it before you can clean with it. The base is so wide it gets caught on every door jam. The person that sold it to me was more interested in a trip he was going to win and never showed me the correct way to run it (he had everything wrong). When I called to inquire about it I was told I could drive it 1 hour away and drop it off so they could look at it and then drive another hour back to pick it up. I had to go and buy another (Bissell) because they took my that worked just fine. The shampooer is a huge joke, it simply puts foam on the carpet to suck it back up. It does not clean the carpet in any way. And by the way I clean for a living!

My review will be as dissatisfied as everyone else's. I was spending the day with my 18 month old son when a man, who's name I can't recall, asked if I was the man of the house and if I had time for "super quick demo" to clean my carpet. I reluctantly agreed. A nice guy by the name of Pat came in and begin to unload the box and I saw the word Kirby. I immediately regretted this decision, however Pat was a nice kid. He admitted it was his 3rd day and if finished the demo he would get paid. I agreed to helping the man getting paid.

After every other demo he would call his "boss" and say, "Positive. This is Pat." The demo was hitting the 90 minute mark and please understand I was very impressed with the Kirby but I knew it was out of my price range. I asked Pat if I could just be given documentation because I knew his "boss" was going to try and sell me on the product.

When it came to the point where he wanted to vacuum the mattresses I declined. I was kind of OK where he was and that was in front of my front door. He asked me if I wanted to fill out a credit application. I declined. That's when he picked up his phone and called his boss. 5 minutes later his boss, Nicolas, came in the front door. Just by his attitude I knew he had his head up his rear end. Allow me to preface and say that I used to work at a Shoe store when I was younger. I know what selling on commission does to a person. This guy was the definition of a shark. I'm in my early 30s and these two are in their early 20s.

So back to the story. Nicholas comes in and starts trying to sell me on the Kirby. At this point I tell him I have no interest on buying a vacuum cleaner today. He said he was fine with that but asked if I would fill out the credit app just so they could find out what my monthly payments would be if I decided to get one in the future. I then informed them that I didn't want to "write in" my Social Security Number. Nicolas then informed me that they would tear up the credit app before they left.

I reluctantly filled out this credit app. While I was filling out this credit app I noticed the number they were dialing. (800) 222-8237. Pat, on his third day was calling in his 1st credit app. He didn't know their "distribution number". So the credit app lady scolded him over the phone. Pat has to call his "boss" Nicolas back. Nicolas gives him the instructions on how to call in the credit app. Once I noticed this I stopped filling in vital information, obviously less vital than my SSN. Pat asked me if I knew what my bank account number was. I admitted ignorance. He then said they wouldn't need it. He calls the credit app girl back and I then hear her over the phone say, "he's not approved."

I breathed a sigh of relief because finally they would leave right? Nope. Here comes Nicolas. He can get me an amazing deal. I informed him that definitely didn't want it and I was ready for the demo to be over. He said, "this Kirby can build you credit. " To which I rolled my eyes and just asked how much longer this would be because I was told this would be quick. He said, "not much longer", and walked out the door.

During the time Nicolas goes back to his car and comes back Pat & I have been talking about everything under the sun. We actually got along. He was legitimately a good guy. Then his phone rings and it's Nicolas. He feeding him numbers over the phone. The call ends and Pat says that Nicolas "worked his magic" and I was magically over approved. The Kirby would originally cost me $2700 dollars but now it's down to $2300. Once again I said that I had no interest in buying. Pat was kind of upset because he couldn't clean my mattresses and now he wouldn't get paid. I agreed to let him clean my son's mattress so he would get paid because he had a kid at home to take care of.

5 more minutes goes by and here comes Nicolas with all of his paperwork. I'm seriously upset at this point. He starts talking about if I purchased this Kirby he and Pat would be one step closer to their trip to Las Vegas. I once again informed him that I wasn't buying. He tries feeding me this long line of BS that this would be a great gift for my wife. I inform him that my wife handles the finances in our household because I'm the only one working and I work all the time. The price of the Kirby then drops from $2300 to $1600. He then asks me to fill out this paper to see how low he could get my payment.

At this point I tell him that I'm not putting my signature on anything. This bothers him. He tries every tactic in the book. "If you sign this, the Kirby is yours for 3 days so you can show it off to your wife." Every offer I replied with no. He then drops the price to $1300. I just laugh and tell him I'm not signing anything and asked for them to leave.

He begins to try and question my "man-hood". This kid is 5'9" and maybe 180 lbs soaking wet. I'm well over 6 foot tall and weigh around 290 pounds. I'm pretty sure I can take him if I needed to defend myself but the one thing he forgets. I'm holding my 18 month old son. I'm past upset at this point. I told him the deal Isn't going to happen. He attempts to cut me off and my son Is tired, hungry, & getting agitated because I'm getting upset. I then cut him off, remind him that he is a guest in my house, & tell him the deal isn't happening. He would need to pack up and leave.

Nicolas doesn't get the hint. I stand up and ask him to leave. He then asks when my wife will be home. I tell him to never think about talking to my wife. He then stands up and tells Pat, "I'm sorry you won't be able to go to Las Vegas. " I point at the door with a lot of anger. Nicolas tells me will leave but he has to allow Pat to clean up. I apologize to Pat for my attitude and he was only grateful he would get paid for the demo. It took him 10 minutes to pack up and leave. This whole "quick" demo lasted 4 hours! This was a day I was supposed to spend with my son. After everything was over I looked the Kirby up on Google. They only cost $900-$1000.

I don't to be very harsh or unrealistic. I do like some features of the vacuum cleaner but not sure I can use all of the features. My complaint is the same as many with the sales tactics that takes much more time than they initially tell you, and they come late at night when you want to get your kids to bed. I am just wondering how they can keep doing that? What does the government do about it? I know that there are people who want to earn living, but I believe it's mere greed that is driving the owners. Greed leads to abuse.

They started me at $2700 for the Kirby. I told them that last time one of theirs stopped by, I didn't even accept $1500 for price. Eventually I took it for $1500 after it got so late at night and my wife started liking the machine. They also don't tell you how the interest works. If you try to pay it early, you still have to pay a good chunk of the interest. It's a ripoff and dishonest business dealing. The government should be on the owners' case.

I paid only $1500 plus outrageous interest. I feel bad for those who paid $2700 - $3000 plus the outrageous interest. Is this free enterprise or people abuse? Abuse in stating the price and abuse with interest calculation. Here is my advice: Don't let them in if it's not too late. Don' pay more than $1200. Stick to this price. (You and your spouse can play the same tactics they play by pretending, or may be really, getting in conflict about the machine and the price in front of the sales people. This will either convince them to go or give you the deal that works for you. Be real. Be wise). Pay cash if you can, or negotiate the interest. Otherwise they can either let you get your own loan or the deal is off. I have nothing against people doing business - it's a free country - but abuse and misinformation should not be allowed by people or the government.

My other half was not thrilled with my new purchase as we are in the works of purchasing a new home so I canceled my contact with no hassle. Jacob reassured me that they will be back tomorrow to pick the item up and my financing is being canceled. I will definitely be purchasing one after we purchase the house, hopefully I will get people who are just as respectful as the last group.

    Thanks for your vote!
