I were supposed to got a new one but they gave me one that they had used in somebody else house all scratched up and tools dirty and messed up. I don't think it is fair that I got to pay all this money for something that is used. And they want replace or let me cancel my contract.

We were watching the football game and we get these two girls knock on the door. We answer and these girls say, "Hey! We are starting a new business and basically we are just trying to get known in the area, would we be able to clean something in your house?" They seemed very nice and polite so we agreed. They said they would be right back with their cleaning supplies. We get a knock on the door 10 minutes later and to our surprise it was two men this time. Really confused about who these people were, not to mention, looked a little shady. They came right in and pulled out the Kirby and had a big long speech about everything it could do. I am a young woman and I felt very nervous and would not take my eyes off of the salesman. The other guy finally left and this guy stayed in my apartment to do a demo. I told the guy I'm not going to buy the product but I will politely listen.

They started the price at 3200 and after 3 hours in my apartment, he took it all the way down to 950. I probably would have been more inclined to purchase the product at that price if he handled himself better. Trying to watch the football game and he would not shut up. I finally told him to get out of my apartment after an hour and a half from being there. It took an hour and a half to kick him out!!! I felt extremely uncomfortable with this man. He was asking us if he could have a shot of our alcohol, have a beer, and have a smoke. Very unprofessional and then he gets on the phone with his sister and states, "Oh you know, cleaning houses for free". At that point I was done with him and it took 4 handshakes and goodbyes to get him out. I will never let Kirby in my house ever again and I will slam the door in your face. I was so close to calling the police on this guy because it was harassment.

I recently got my vacuum. The salesman did a demo in my house and what it really got me was the good suction on that vacuum - it really cleans, my carpet looks like new!!!! I used my vacuum first and then the girl used Kirby and it was great.

Two guys showed up at my door telling me they would clean the carpet in one of my rooms for free, just to demonstrate their service so that I could recommend it to family and friends. They then mentioned they were with Kirby, but they assured me that they only wanted to show me the product so that I could remember them in the future if I ever decided to purchase a Kirby.

Fast forward 3 1/2 hours later. Yes, it was almost 11:00 at night when they finally left my house (they started at 7:00). They had made it sound like it would be a quick thing for them to step in and do, so I hadn't eaten dinner yet before they started because I figured it would be a half hour thing and then I would be on my way. (From how they had described it to me they would step in, clean my carpet, I say "hey that's cool, thanks for showing me that" and I'm on way.) I was starving by the time they finally left.

Worst of all, they flat out lied to me about only wanting to show me the vacuum for future reference. They pressured me like crazy to buy it over and over. As good of a vacuum as the Kirby might be I don't know if I could buy one just on the principle that they lied to me to get their foot in my door. I will not buy from liars. I would rather keep the dirt in my carpet and live with it happily.

DO NOT, I repeat DO NOT let them into your house no matter what they tell you at the door. Like another user here said, they also tried to use the guilt tactic on me about the "contest" they could win if they sold enough vacuums. So it went from "we just want to show you it, you don't have to buy one today" to "you must buy one today to help us win this prize in the contest!" THAT is dishonesty.

To be completely honest, I am a new Kirby employee. I've been in sales for five days. I see that the business tactics are independent of the Kirby company. They are sold through independent dealers. If the dealers are doing something shady then it's on them. Yes they are expensive but we do take trade in credit. I sold two in a day and got a refurbished model from the 80s that my boss gave me. Still runs great. I have yet to be paid but all my coworkers seem to be satisfied. As an employee I can't help but think that independent businesses are using the pushy and shady tactics. Me personally, I wouldn't sell anything that was crap. I apologize for the amateurs in the past but I'm here to show a superior product.

My sale rep was fine not too pushy. I vacuumed my house right before the Demo and regularly clean my house and the Kirby Avalir picked up so much dirt and the shampoo was not as harsh as Stanley steamer. Not the wet smell. Most of the reviews are bad because of salesman not the product. Lifetime Warranty payment plan 6 month. $1400. We spend about $300 a year for carpet clean. Don't have to worry about that and I like to work, so if someone need their carpet cleaned I can do it half the price. But the DIRT from my floors and bedding was extreme. And my kids have allergies. We will see if this helps.

Getting roped into this overpriced product was one thing, with monthly payments that equal a budget car. But the worst part of all is trying to get someone at customer service to respond to your need for technical assistance so that you can use one of the features on this beast of a machine in order to MAYBE make its value equal its price tag.

You can't get a hold of the local team that sold it to you, nor can you get a hold of anyone at the 1-800 number, especially if you live on the west coast and work during the day and their hours are 5pm EST. Nor do they respond to emails. Their YouTube videos suck, in which they use all this verbiage that is unique to the Kirby itself and is hard for the user to follow. Buying this Kirby vacuum is literally the worst purchase I think I have ever made. I so regret it. Even pulling it out and using it for regular vacuums isn't even worth it, as it truly is a beast of a machine to operate and using any of the attachments is so complicated that you lose all interest and motivation to make it work at even just the thought of it.

She told me they were cleaning the neighbor's house and they would like to give me a free carpet cleaning to promote the business. Made it sound like they were a carpet cleaning company, which I was interested to find sooner or later because I have 3 bedrooms with carpet that needed to be clean. Then she ran off saying she'll be right back. I got 2 guys instead at my door half hour later. I didn't want to let them in, but they let themselves in, completely ignoring my "What? Wait!" I am a single mom with a 4-year old daughter and do not allow a stranger man in my house because that's not safe and it's not how I want to raise my daughter. But I didn't have much of a choice. In seconds they had a vacuum with many parts spread on my floor and a guy talking. After 3 hours of me rejecting the product and them insisting that I buy it, he finally stated asking that I could at least buy it now and return it with no charges or obligations in 3 days.

Started whining that this was last day for a contest he wants to win, how he is a top seller and wanted to stay on top of the list... I was his last hope. Sick of saying no to him, I finally agreed to checking it out and returning it in 3 days if it wasn't for me. I spent the next 2 days carrying that monster of a vacuum (extremely heavy) around and trying to figure out how to use it and to reaching far for an excuse why I should buy it, but just did not like that machine. So I called them, they came the same day to take it back, but till this day I still have not seen my money back. I'm furious. I called them every day this week. It's been 3 weeks since I returned it. I'm taking them to court! Please don't let these thieves in your house. By the way, spoke to my neighbor, she said they never did clean her carpet, she didn't let them in. What a lie!

We are now in week 12 with no responses. I have called numerous times the rep and his office and no return calls. So frustrating. The rep requested $100.00 under the table to ensure he would handle all issues and used our credit card for the $1000.00 payment. How does one deal with such a dishonest policy? I will make sure my friends and family do not deal with Kirby.

I'm a software engineer working from home when two kids knocked and solicited a free carpet cleaning. I've heard this pitch before and knew they were from Kirby. However I was very polite when the kids mentioned they were in a contest to win a trip to Hawaii and a scholarship, and wished them the best of luck. I explained I work from home and don't have time for a demonstration, but to be nice I said if they finish with the entire complex and no one wants a demo, to come back and I might not be busy. They admitted they started on my side of the townhome complex and had the entire complex left to check (there are around 100 units). About 10 minutes later they came back and said they'd finished the entire complex (all 100 doors had been knocked on (maybe one of the kids had a space-time manipulation device?), only this time they had two adults in business attire holding a Kirby vacuum box.

I advised that I'm very busy with work, but the oldest looking adult (they called him their boss) insisted that I'd scheduled a cleaning and they wanted to demo the product. At this point, they were already starting to come inside and asking what area I wanted cleaned, so again because I am nice, I humored them, thinking it might not be a long demo. The boss was affable and liked my geeky collectibles in the house, but I made it very clear I was on a time crunch and wasn't interested in buying so they had to be fast. 3 hours later, the salesman (the other adult that had shown up) was winding down his pitch. He was a very gregarious and seemingly intelligent man, very humorous and with a good handshake, but intermittently "the boss" would show up at the door and try to push a payment plan on me for the item.

I declined multiple times and eventually had to cite that it was a decision I would have to make with my significant other, who was working, and that she would flat out refuse. He wanted me to buy the item anyway and apologize later, but there is no way I'm going to spend $3400 on an appliance with a 7 year payment plan, no matter how low you bring the price. In the end, he tried to knock the price from 3K+ down to $900 with 60/mo payments, removed the couple hundred dollar deposit amount, and then said he would bring the price down if I would "trade" items from my house to him, like my old vacuum and even a painting on the wall he liked (I think it was a joke but I can't be sure). He did not take no for an answer, and I wish I had been more aggressive, but again I was trying to be polite (though it was hard because at this point, 3 hours I didn't have had been wasted).

He even insisted I text message my significant other at work (several times even after I said no), who just started a new job, and ask for permission to buy the vacuum. I ended up using a web-based text service to text myself with a fake response, just to get them to go away. Just because someone is being nice doesn't mean you should keep pushing your product on them... for shame! Pack up and leave with dignity, especially if it was made clear I would not buy anything, no matter how effective the demonstration might be. The experience left me exhausted and frustrated, although I did like the vacuum (no matter how great it is though, it's not worth the price of a used car), and I did like the salesman and his "apprentice", the kid who first knocked on my door who stayed for the whole demo.

I do not like that a product can be marked down by 74% and still be considered a legitimate business deal (this is just extremely shady), as is not being able to contact these salesman or Kirby to buy at a later date (they insist you buy it now and try to use sympathy and guilt to trick you into making a spontaneous decision, a very ancient and predatory sales tactic). During the demo, I mentioned a few times I really needed to get back to work, and each time the salesman had to call "the boss", explain I didn't have time, and then mentioned it wouldn't be too much longer. Next time, I will just smile, wish them luck, and slam the door in their faces. Pushy, manipulative tactics and door to door selling in the internet age, combined with taking advantage of others politeness add up to just a dismal experience and a waste of an afternoon.

This salesman knocks at our door 1 year ago - says he just wants to demo the Kirby to get experience doing demos. So fool that I was I let him in. This was on a Friday afternoon, he showed me many thing except how to use the hand tools. He said I had three business days to return if I was not happy. So over the weekend I tried using the cleaning tools, found it was very difficult to then replace the vacuum head. I called on Monday - told them I was not satisfied, was told my salesman would call me back, no return call. I called on Tuesday to talk to a supervisor. He informed me my three days were up on Monday. I informed him it was bought on a Friday afternoon, traditional business days mean Monday through Friday. He informed me I was wrong and too late to get my old vacuum back as well as return their product.

I told him about getting fleas from his product also after use of salesman demo. He stated I was lying as all their products sold are out of the box brand new. I tried couple of other times to call. My call was not answered nor was I ever sent the video promised as to how to use this overpriced machine. NO ONE has ever helped me resolve any issues. I hate this machine - can't wait to get out from under these payments so I can sell it to some other sucker at a yard sale. Kirby does not care about the person buying their product just the bottom line MONEY as in profit.

l have been a customer of Kirby for over 20 yrs. l have always been happy with the service till now. They always try to sell you a vacuum when they come to service your vacuum, even if it's only 6 months old. ln January this year the service man came into my house telling me he was giving me a brand new vacuum cleaner for nothing -- "WE ARE GIVING IT TO YOU. We are not allowed to sell them in the UK because of EEC rules because we can't sell 900 watt, only up to 500 watt." I said, "Nobody gives anything away." "It's because you have been with us over 20 yrs. You're getting it free." 3rd lie -- "As you know, you owe over 36 months on your old vacuum, so all we will do is add a small amount to your monthly payments, i.e. a couple of £ and it's yours."

So as they say there's no fool like an old fool I agreed. Then you speak to someone in the office and they tell you the same thing -- they are adding a small amount to your payments. "You had over 36 payment left on your old vacuum to pay." - lie 4 . As it turns out, I had no payments left to pay on my old vacuum as I had paid for 48 months. So all I was doing was buying a new vacuum for the price of £1,900,00.

I am 62. The vacuum I had was working perfect. Why would I want another one? I have been in touch with Liverpool and all they say is, "You signed for it." How can people you let into your homes treat you like this? Why should they try each time they do a service try and sell you a new vacuum when you pay for a service plan, not a sales rep to call. I DO NOT WANT TO PAY FOR SOMETHING THAT THEY SAID WAS FREE. Why should I? So I am seeking advice.

We had a salesman knock on our door and say he wanted to show us a carpet cleaning machine and so we took a look. It was a Kirby and he was a professional looking guy, seemed educated, and he was very funny. He vacuumed our carpet with our Dyson then he re-vacuumed with his Kirby and the dirt he pulled out was astounding! He showed us all the tools and he also cleaned our mattress which we couldn't believe was so dirty and it's only a couple of years old! Anyway, he shampooed the carpet and we're completely sold. The unit is really expensive but worth it. We always check Consumer Affairs before we buy and the reviews here are mostly bad, but we had a good feeling so we bought and we are completely satisfied, so the salesman asked us to post our review and we are very happy to do so.

Bought a vacuum from one of their salesman and got completely SCAMMED by him. After 2 days with the vacuum I wanted to return it and he said he would come next week so that we could discuss the issue. He never came nor called back and after MANY attempts trying to reach him, he said we couldn't return it anymore because it was already past the 3-day period (even though we talked on the 2nd day and I say I didn't want the vacuum anymore). Now I'm stuck with a product I do not want and that is absolutely overpriced. NEVER buy anything from their distributors. They will try to trick you because they care 100% about their profits and 0% about your satisfaction. Watch out all of you living in the Orange County in California. The salesman and his wife are 2-faced and will (because it happened to me) avoid your calls and hang up (it happened too) on you if necessary.

Answer was still no; but we are still awaiting for our refund a month after the cancellation submittal. Lowering the original price from $2500 to $950 sounds very dishonest.

Well reading the reviews below, I think Kirby should really probably just get better people to sell their products or just sell it in a store. Thankfully, the young man my family dealt with was extremely pleasant and he didn't push anything on us. He chilled with us and cleaned our carpets over time. It's 100+ here in AZ and we were pretty bored. Even at the end of things, he still didn't push the products. He looked at my vehicles which I keep immaculate since they're sports cars and noted that I had a very nice carpet shampooer for the vehicles and my home already and that's where the challenge started.

He the driver's side carpet on my 350z that I had just painstakingly cleaned with the Kirby and after that I was sold. The damn thing had that carpet feeling new. I don't know if it's the shampooer or the cleaners they use but it works. Even then, he still didn't push anything. We just went on to clean more things and the more we worked, the more myself and my family were impressed. I do automotive detailing on the side so I was willing to pay for a good product so when he dropped the $1000 price tag on me for the whole system, I just took it. It's pricey yes, but my Dyson was $500 and could only shampoo. This damn thing could vacuum, shampoo, and spray degreaser if I needed it to.

I'm used to using Dyson and Rug Doctors which work nice but not nearly as well as my Kirby has. I'm only four weeks into ownership and I have redone over everything I did with my Dyson with great results. Now I've heard some people say they're hard to put together and I agree. At first, the manual was daunting. I actually let it sit for a few hours just because it was so daunting but after I do it for a few times, you can put together whatever you need in a matter of seconds.

Now for those of you that have had a bad experience, I'd just offer some advice. If they push their way in, be firm and shove them out. I at first told this guy to just leave and he asked if it wasn't a good time and I said it wasn't. He asked to come back later to which I said sure and then left immediately and came back a few days later and things were a lot better. He was well trained. I never felt forced nor did he ever mention winning a trip or anything though when he left he did leave us a kind note thanking us for helping him get a trip to New Orleans or something like that.

My only complaints with the Kirby is that there is no steam cleaning attachment or mode. I've really love that since then I could get rid of one more appliance. Also I wish the tank was bigger. My house is 6500sq ft with more than half of that being carpet. I got the hardfloor attachment also but the tank size is pathetic for cleaning rooms in a house this size. I usually go through three tanks cleaning ONE room in the house. Besides those small things, I'm extremely happy with the product and the work it does. Now I just have to resist the urge to drive my vehicles barefoot.

I bought a Kirby Heritage II Vacuum in 1986 (It is now 2015) and it is heavily used in my house and is by far the favorite and the most expensive of all the vacuums I have ever owned. The problem is the way they are marketed (basically sold door to door). So you get a bunch of hype (Sometimes lies... Yes salesman do lie.) and more useless attachments are pushed on you as a package than you will ever use. Eventually I threw away all the stupid attachments (including the supposed mattress cleaner) and just use it as a floor vacuum. In hindsight I should have probably kept the hose attachment and end pieces. Great vacuum but outdated sales methodology that encourages customer dissatisfaction.

He was to demonstrate it to me. She left, and he stayed and set up the machine. He showed and explained each step of the way. He vacuum what I thought was a clean carpet, only to show me dozens of filter piece with gross dirt and fuzz. Spread baking soda on my carpet and rubbed it in. Then used my Dyson to vacuum it up, counting 100 passes over it. Looked clean to me at fifty. Then he used the Kirby and I was shocked at how much more it picked up! It does and great job! It can do everything, even can use it as a paint sprayer or unclog drains. The guy vacuumed and shampooed my stairs and hallway cleaner than I've ever seen.

The manager came back and checked all the work out. Forget to mention he vacuumed part of my mattress and I was grossed out from all the dead skin he picked up, the mattress is only a year old. Also did my sofa and loveseat, which is also a year old from Pottery Barn that still looked new. You should've seen the dirty filters! They offered me a price of $1800, but came down to $900 with my old Dyson. They were all nice and not pushy one bit. I would've bought one, but I just can't do it at this time. He left and came back 15 minutes later with another guy and he brought a vacuum in and started to show my Mom and I each and every part, accessory, etc. Well, two hours went by and we were certainly impressed with the dirt that was picked up from the floors and my couch. My husband walked in and watched for a few minutes (he even tried it) then he asked the price. We both knew we were never going to pay $2400 for a vacuum cleaner, so my husband did not want to waste any more of his (or our) time.

The demonstrator wanted to go to our bedroom and clean our mattress, to which we both said that was unnecessary. The demonstrator said he "had to" and my husband asked him to leave. The demonstrator said he would have to call to get picked up and that he would be assembling the parts to the vacuum while we waited. It took about 15 minutes for the other guy to show up and thankfully they left, but what a waste of an afternoon that I wasn't expecting. I don't know how they sell 50 - 60,000 of those a month at that price point.

I bought my Kirby in 2012 because I felt guilty and obligated when my husband let the Kirby salesmen in our home. They did their demonstration then we went over the price. They first said 3500. I said "No thank you. Have a nice day," then it dropped down to 1700. Then they started to guilt us into buying it. I asked what is the return policy. He said only within 24 hrs and then he stated the only reason people want to return it is because they do not use it or take the time to figure it out. So many red flags but I bought it. I used it - didn't like it. Thought maybe I'm using it wrong. Watched the video demo that came with it. Read the booklet that came with it. Months went by I continued to use it and hated it every time I used the Kirby vacuum. It is very very heavy, it doesn't even pick up anything off of the floor. I have never been so displeased with a product in my life. Kirby please stop making vacuums - you're just not good at it.

I live in a very rural area and very few people come to our house unannounced. This afternoon a black van pulls up our driveway and a man steps out and hands me a bottle of laundry detergent. Says they're opening a new store in town. Then he says "Have you heard about Alerea?" And has this little box in his arm. I said "No but I'm really busy." He said it'll take just a second can I come inside out of the heat. Silly me thinks he's just going to stand right inside the doorway. Nope he walks straight in my house. My kids are freaking out because they aren't used to strangers just appearing out of nowhere. So I say again, "This isn't a good time." and I'm completely ignored and he goes on to tell me about this girl trying to win a trip to Vegas and she's just a few away from a free trip. And then the girl appears and starts opening boxes and pulling stuff out everywhere And I'm in shock. I can't believe this is happening.

I tell her I'm not buying anything today and not to bother but she insisted on cleaning my floors. So I completely ignored her for the next 3 hours. She would show me these dirt pads and I would pretend she didn't exist But she kept on. Then had the audacity to ask me what I thought of the product. I said she was being ridiculous that I had repeatedly asked her to leave and she refused or ignored me and I thought she was being rude and needed to leave. She slowly packed up her crap. And since she couldn't get a phone signal since we live out in the country I had to let her use my landline to get her ride to come back to pick her up. When they finally showed up (or so I thought) it was "a supervisor" who wanted to offer me a better deal since I was so unhappy with "the performance of her show." I said I never asked for a show that I kept asking her to leave and she kept saying she needed to finish.

And then he tried to guilt me about this trip and I said told them I didn't care if the girl went to Vegas or not and not to try that with me. I kept saying I wasn't buying anything and I wanted them out but they just wouldn't. They finally went outside where they had to wait almost 30 minutes for their van to come back. It was absolutely insane. I refuse to ever spend that kind of money on a vacuum. For $1000 I can pay someone to come clean my house weekly for a year. They even had the gall to ask for a post dated check. And their flyer didn't have Kirby on it anywhere. It was shady the way they went about it.

I answered a knock at the door around 4 pm and a courteous young man had a "voucher" and said they were representing a new better vacuum cleaner. I said I would like to know more and he said another young man would bring one inside and show me what it was. First he opened a brand new box and assembled a cleaner which took a while and began a set presentation with flash cards that I found repetitive. I said so and asked him to get on and show me the cleaner in action. He continued his speech. Eventually he vacuumed dust out of my carpet and I was impressed because it has been professionally cleaned very recently.

He continued his repetitive speech. I asked him to hurry up because it was now 5 pm and I had to prepare dinner. He was insistent about accessing my bedroom to demo mattress clean but I refused. This repeated a few times. I refused to let him. He then said he had to "shampoo" demo and I did not mange to stop him setting up the water chamber and spreading shampoo. What an unpleasant smelly (fragrance) and time consuming activity.

I kept asking for him to pack up and leave but he refused. Said he had to do more shampooing. Repeated his long speeches. Messy emptying and cleaning up after shampoo. Finally chased him out the door after more than 2 hours. Only managed it not to be longer by repeatedly asking him to leave and refusing all discussion about their pricing and payment methods. So I cannot give feedback about those. Please take care about letting these salesmen in your home.

Yes there are bad sales people. The young men who came to my door did not push their way in. They stood outside and talked to me for a while then asked to step inside and look at my carpets. They were there a lengthy time is my only complaint. They were extremely nice and very respectful. Asked to go into different rooms before they did so. The guys I went through goes through the credit company that is legit. I have gotten calls and mail from this place telling me what I owe and when. Also they never ruined any of my things. Just because someone is selling you something door to door doesn't mean they are a bad person. It's when they don't have good communication skills that make it a little iffy. I love my Kirby. It's heavy if I carry it but not unbearable. My carpets have seriously never looked better. Just because you had a bad sales rep doesn't mean the vacuum is not good. It's well worth the money.

Told him I had to leave 7 times. An hour later, he was still in my house arguing with me in front of my children about earning his trip to Vegas. My husband came home from work to get him out of the house, and he argued with my husband. This was the WORST experience in my life, in my home, with my family there. KIRBY NEEDS TO BE SHUT DOWN!

Out of the kindest of my foolish heart I let the main salesman set up a young kid who was there to demonstrate the vacuum by cleaning one room "for free". I told them straight up I would not buy. But they say "Oh most people don't, just let us clean for you." Imply kid will get a trip to Hawaii but during demo he hands me his flyer saying his demo doesn't count toward trip, only making a sale does. As soon as they broke out boxes of gear I knew I was in trouble. Demo went on forever. I even told kid "Jeez, is this how long it will take me to get things clean if I buy this machine?"

Seemed so inefficient but soon you get it is all part of the act. It is all one long, drawn out, boring sales pitch. Honestly I had intended to just let the kid clean and go upstairs and kick back until he was done! But I felt bad for the kid all suited up in a tie and it was super muggy out. Anyhow, long story short, BIG waste of my time. If the thing is so good why not sell it for a reasonable price? Make the sale faster and move on. Hell, it went from almost 3 grand to 1700 if we turned in our old vacuum. Just ridiculous!

He then used his Kirby back and forth 4 times. He then shown me what the Kirby picked up that my £500 Dyson didn't. I should've went with my gut feeling about this company from the start, but be rest assured I have learned my lesson about giving people the benefit of the doubt. Approximately a year ago I replied to an online job ad regarding a $2,000.00 base salary sales job. At the time I was making less than half of that and was very intrigued by it. I called the number and right away a man by the name of Brock answered the phone. He literally asked me right away, without even asking me anything personal about myself, was I looking for full-time work and could I start orientation the next day. I was hugely skeptical and was almost convinced right off that this was some sort of scam.

I did end up going to the initial interview and did not return for the job. First reason being that he was such a fast talker and literally offered me the job the moment I walked into the office stating that he “saw something special in me that he thinks would be perfect for the company.” As a single woman, I was just creeped out by it! However yesterday, July 21, 2015, I contacted them to see if they had any open positions. I am in between jobs and needless to say I told myself that I could get past the initial bad experience as long as I was making good enough money.

A sales manager by the name of Chris answered my call, and once again, immediately asked could I come in for an interview the next day. He did inform me that Brock was fired and so I took it as I would have an overall better experience. Boy was I wrong! On July 22, 2015 I had an initial interview with Chris. He seemed much more laid back and more professional in his approach during interviewing. He apologized for his previous co-worker’s behavior and I remained hopeful about the orientation that followed at 1p.m. I was resistant still because they do not take any taxes out of your paychecks, something I was not familiar with.

He emphasized the fact that he had to recently fire three whole crews for their inability to come to work and that the turnover rate for the company was very high and he was exhausted from having to constantly hire new people. I now can see why that is! Once again, he stated that he “could see something special about me and that he thinks I'm perfect for the job.” Upon arriving for the orientation at 1 p.m., I walked to the room and noticed that there were approximately 20 young people. All trainees were black with the exception of myself, white female, and two other white males, as well as Chris who is white.

While waiting for the class to begin there was a large tv that was blaring rap music continuously. I let that go but as soon as class began I was floored and absolutely in disbelief in the attitude and overall demeanor of Chris. As he began speaking it became very clear that he had changed his personality to cater to the predominantly urban crowd. He spoke using incorrect grammar and talked about his “Jordan’s” collection. Every single sentence he spoke emphasized a tone of his “street smarts” rather than his professionalism and work mentality. He used more foul language in the three hours of our class than I believe most people would use in a lifetime.

He frequently used the f-word, mother f, and consistently made references to “smoking joints with the boss” and told stories of how his father aka “his boy” would party alongside him and friends on campus at parties. It was so degrading as a woman, to sit there and listen to him constantly curse and used sexual innuendos when describing the parts of the vacuum cleaner. I honestly believe he was going out of his way to give the appearance that he was relatable to the predominantly urban trainees. When he wasn't talking about “smoking joints,” he was making jokes referring to the baking powder used as part of the demonstration in fear that “we might not want to do what we want to do with it in front of the boss.”

I have never, ever, ever been a part of something so grossly unprofessional and degrading in my life. I was astonished at how he says the company prides themselves on their professionalism and word of mouth reputation! As we began to introduce ourselves to each other it became clear that although these were young people, everyone had little or no experience in sales and came from minimum-wage fast food jobs.

Most of them were in their early twenties and had multiple children. Not exactly the criteria I was enabled to believe I would be associating with. For example, the continuous emphasis on the high turnover rate the company has, but yet you're going to hire single women with multiple children and expect them to work six days a week with no problem or inability to commit to the schedule. Sorry but it's the truth. As a woman with dignity and respect for herself, I would never accept this from an employer and neither should anyone else who in interested in a career there.

My husband had just come in from a 12 shift and we pulled supper from the grill. Came in I showered and while he was showering there was a knock at the door. I went to the door, my hair was still wet and when I answered two younger guys said "Hey we are opening a new business in your area and I want to give you this free gift, a can of air freshener." I thought a new dollar store was opening and they said they were doing some old fashioned advertising. Then he asked me if I had ever heard of Kirby. I said no so immediately they pushed their way in my house saying it would only be a few mins. I asked "how long will it take? Because we are getting ready for supper and husband is getting out the shower." He says "just a few mins of your time."

So he runs to get a box from a car that had 3 other people inside. Comes back and come in doing his sales pitch, very loud and obnoxious. Saying he was trying to earn a trip to vegas and he was in the service and had a friend in LV that he really wanted to see and if we bought one he could go. Well it took me a few mins to realize it was a vacuum he was selling. My husband had joined the conversation now. He went on and on and I finally asked "how much longer? Our supper is getting cold." He would never shut up. He vacuumed probably 100 of their sample circle saying they were having a contest on who got the most dirt. Finally an hour and a half later I finally said "we are not interested. Please we are ready to eat." I told him if he would have come at a better time his chances of me buying one would have been greater.

They didn't offer to come back or leave a business card. Tried to call kirby the next day to locate him by name to buy one and they couldn't even tell me who he was or where he was from bc all their salesman are independent. Last I realized it was best I DIDN'T buy it. Bad on kirby to sell their product this way. The salesman using being in the service for sympathy to buy one. He was surprised when I told him my husband was a United States Marine and fought the gulf war, he never mentioned it again because it was a lie. The boy looked barely 18. Just beware of this and their tactics. Stop them to start with. He vacuumed a piece of wood off an antique table of ours. We were just ready for him to go. He was at our home 2 hours by the time he got in the car to leave.

While performing demo on mattress they tore a big whole in a 3 month old mattress. Did not say anything, so we ended up getting the Kirby and we said something to Patrick which he stated he would bring out more cleaning supplies on Friday 07/17/2015 for the damage done. Patrick no showed and no call.

Well on Thursday 07/16/2015 I decided to Kirby they then directed me to Rick the owner at the dealer. Called Rick. He told me he would have it repaired. I told him I would talk with my husband and let him know. Well not too long after that he called me and said "well we can redo the contract and take off money." So this weekend I and wife discussed the Kirby and we decided we do not like it. It's too heavy, hard to move around and do all the features it has. I called today and was told "oh your three day has expired which was Saturday." I told Rick that I was told thirty days. He said "no, SORRY." I have asked for a new mattress and my old vacuum back which it is only 7 months old Shark Professional. Rick said "I don't know what to tell you."

This is not the kind of service I expected. I am thinking of getting an attorney and contacting the local T.V. station and the BBB.

As she told me later, "He seemed angry and I was afraid he wouldn't leave unless I bought a vacuum." Unfortunately, I found out about this too late to make them take it back. But I did call the manager of their Chico office and I asked him how he sleeps at night. He seemed unconcerned about his staff's sales tactics. For Kirby, my mom's neighborhood was a goldmine full of frail elderly people. After my mom died, we gave our son and his wife the Kirby vacuum. It seemed to work OK for anyone with the strength to push it.

No mention of how many months (?) just "most people pay monthly for a year then pay it off." I have no objection to the cleaner, it was demonstrated carefully, BUT the constant dialing, turning, upping, downing, removing, replacing of parts and dials would drive me batty not to mention you would need a degree in mechanical engineering and a very strong back as it weighs a ton BUT as the salesperson stated "it is self propelled". I wonder if it can climb stairs by itself; (you do receive a booklet, 2" thick, and a CD to help) RIGHT!

I was impressed by the shampooer BUT not that impressed and the pressure to buy was most uncomfortable since I had told them before they started that I was not buying "no matter what they offered." I would advise everyone to say NO, THANK YOU and close the door quickly. This is nothing more that a sales gimmick. I was also lead to believe that the "demo" counted toward the prize then told that it did not. BEWARE. I did not buy and had some very unhappy people leaving my home!!!

A day later, I am still irritated with the pushy and manipulative sales approach this company uses. First, a white lady comes to the door carrying a sample of Gain laundry detergent, and hands you a flier showing they will clean a room for free. She talks fast, explains they are running a promotion in our area, says they are from neighboring county, yadda yadda. Never once does she say she is with Kirby, rather she leads you to believe she is with a carpet cleaning business. Once you agree to let her clean a room as part of her promotion, she turns and darts away stating, "I'll be right back."

Next thing I knew, a young black man was coming through the door lugging a huge box. He jumped right to business at attempting to sell his product. We were right in the middle of eating breakfast, but he did not care, he continued with his sales pitch even having us feel this, push that, etc. I knew at this point I would not be buying from this company. Soon, a second young black kid came through my door and introduced himself as the supervisor, and then he was gone as quick as he entered.

Three hours later, yes, I said THREE hours later, the kid did clean one room (poorly, might I add). He started out offering us a bargain at $3200, and by the time he left mad, he was down to $1300. No, we could not think about it and get back with him the next day, this was a one day "special". Same vacuum on eBay for $699 (he was not happy when I pointed this out). I was offended with their profiling and assuming that because I was white, they needed a white woman (who looked quite rough actually) in order to get in the door.

After my initial contact with this lady, I never saw her again. I would have let the kid in just as easily as I did her. The kid was precious, and worked hard to sell his product. I felt a little bad for not buying from him because he worked so hard. I regret young kids are caught up in a company that obviously profiles customers, so probably profiles employees as well. The sad thing is I really liked the vacuum and may have seriously considered purchasing one had it not been for their lack of respect for my time, for their race-swapping, and for their deceit from the beginning as to what product they were selling.

However, after considering all of this, I figure if I had a problem with the vacuum after purchasing, I could assume I would be met with more unprofessional business practices. If a product is REALLY good these days, there is absolutely NO reason to promote it through pushy, door-to-door tactics. It will sell itself if it is worth a dime.

I came to the door and he proceeded to tell me about my carpets, etc. I do own a rug doctor and I love my rug doctor but I have had it for 7+ years and I could always use another carpet cleaner, so I let him in. Well, next thing I knew 2 other men came in and started unloading their equipment. 2 of the men left and one stayed. First, he did my couch, didn't ask just did it. He left a HUGE mark on the arm. I'm not sure if he burned it or what.

When I asked him about it, he completely ignored me and grabbed my vacuum and started using it. Then he replied, "Are you happy with this machine? Is it even considered a vacuum?” At this point I was ready for him to just go. He started his vacuum and it honestly was great. I was considering purchasing it, then he showed me the price 2,000$. Who has 2,000$ to spend on a vacuum. Well I made it a point to say no, I wanted to wait till my husband got home to discuss it with him. "Oh, why?" He asked, "It’s not like he'll kick you out if you buy it, y'all have kids!"

Finally, after like 3+ hours I asked if they could finish up, I had stuff to do. All he kept asking was, "so you gonna buy it?" “No I'm not.” Then I was on the phone with my husband and said, "Bye, I love you." The other heard and said, "wow, he got you sprung huh?!" What??? Who talks like that. Then they went in my bathroom and started cleaning their machine in my bathtub!!! I was so pissed at this point I just wanted them to leave. In the meantime the guys left this man at my house and did not come get him for another 20 mins. Terrible, even if I were to buy it, I would never from these men, or honestly this company now. So moving into a new neighborhood obviously means that we are asking every single salesman to come to our door and solicit. I have never wanted a Kirby. I will admit that the vacuum does a lot. Seems like it works well and obviously has a lot of functions. My issue is the way that it is presented. A "short demonstration" turned into almost 4 hours of this vacuum that we never even wanted in the first place. Price negotiations started at $2300 and by the end wound up at $580. It left me wondering how in the world a company can feel good about selling them for so much more than they can actually go for. I'm sure that some people buy them at full price and use them often but I won't be one of them.

The sales pitch was long and exhausting and for every "no" we would say they would counter with all the reasons we should be getting one, including that the lady was a single mother and needed the commission. Also, the BBB was thrown around multiple times and I was told that they had an A rating. Upon research I have yet to find any Kirby distributor rated. Reading all of the complaints it's obvious that these people will say whatever it takes to sell!

They gave me a bottle of fish liquid and said they were "giving away" free products to nice people and then took it back because their "minute" of showing me the vacuum turned into an hour and my husband is in the military and we had to leave for an event he was having at work and couldn't let the guy finish. Seriously, I know it's just soap, but don't give it to me if you're gonna take it away and don't tell me it's gonna take a minute and then proceed to tell me your whole life story instead of showing me this ridiculously priced vacuum.

Please do not let these 'people' (using that term loosely) into your home. They are utterly obnoxious and nosy. I explained to the sales person repeatedly that I was unemployed and in no way going to obligate myself to payments I couldn't possibly keep up with. Not to be deterred he kept asking me about my credit and how could I afford that car in the driveway? I won't have enough space here to elaborate on how unbelievably ballsy these people are but I would to ask others reading this why something hasn't been done to put this company out of business or at the very least make them change their tactics. They shouldn't be allowed to solicit door to door anymore.

This well-dressed young man knocked on our door at 6:00pm asking to do a free carpet clean then if we liked his work we could get information on how it's done. He said it would take about a half hour. Ok. Not bad. So he starts. No lie the job done by the vacuum was impressive. I figured it would be expensive but I was thinking about getting one. 4 hours later he tries to sell us a vacuum for $3000.00. I was willing to pay up to a thousand dollars but definitely not $3000. I told him we could not afford it. His response was that based on my husband's rank in the military he was sure we could afford it. I was so offended.

What gave him the authority to speak on how our money is spent? After this I was so done with the situation. But he kept going. Might I add this whole chaos was keeping my one year old awake at 10:00 at night. I have never been this pissed at a person or company. After reading these reviews I can see that it's obvious that no one is doing anything to stop these problems. Lucky for them I have close to 40,000 social media followers and I will start the 'loud mouthing' now. Did I mention that during his demonstration he ripped our brand new mattress and did absolutely nothing about it? So disgusted and I pray I never see this man again. Kirby- get your ** together.

Less than a week ago I was working for Target. I was working as a barista in the Starbucks located inside the store. I was struggling from paycheck to paycheck trying to make ends meet. I answered an add on Craigslist for "Summer Jobs. Earn at least 400/wk!". So I called this location and was immediately set up for an interview. I figured I could still work at my current job and make money on the side with a summer job. I showed up for my 1 o'clock interview. The " manager" asked me questions for about 5 minutes. Such as "Are you able to make it on 400-600/wk?". Of course I responded "yes sir!" to all the questions. He told me he was looking for 2 qualified individuals. He then told me if I was hired I would receive a phone call after 4.

I left with disappointment and sadness because these wonderful opportunities never come my way. But at 4:10 he called. He said I was hired and to show up the next day for orientation!!! I cried with relief (literally). My financial struggles were over for at least the summer! I showed bright and wide eyed the next morning. However, I became immediately confused. This man was refusing to tell the details of the job. I talked to him briefly afterwards and he assured me I was in good hands. Everything would be explained the next morning and with a comforting hand on my shoulder he promised me I'd be taken care of.

I was thinking maybe landscaping, mowing grass, or even light construction. (I'm a 5 foot, 124lb female). So, the next day I came back. I was told after a run around that we were not being paid a cent for training. But, I still kept my hopes up. That is when he pulled out a Kirby Vacuum. This man was very charming and after his demo, I wanted one. Then came the price..$2878! My hopes began to fall. I still showed the next day. Demos by other well dressed salesmen were made. The machine was impressive, no argument there. This thing was capable of anything... perhaps even a flame thrower attachment. (I'm exaggerating about the flame thrower).

Then the sales pitch was explained. I was expected 10 demos a week with at least 1 sale. Without the one sale I wouldn't be paid and eventual "let go". We were instructed to target old ladies and low income families. I was to barge my way in to working class people's homes and tell them what filth they were living in and to pull" 10 lbs of dirt lifted from their carpets and furniture". Basically convincing people they were living in filth and were foolish not to hand over 2k. And then... the promised vacations I could win. I was promised a trip to Vaadhoo Island. He pulled out his phone and showed us pictures from a former vacation.

I went home and googled the island. The pictures were the EXACT same pictures he claimed for his own. I then gave this whole scenario some serious thought. So what, some things were undeniably sketchy? I knew I could sell a few. But then I thought of the old ladies we were supposed to target. I couldn't sleep at night knowing I deceived them. Thinking about a working class family...and knowing they couldn't afford such a luxury. My money would be fine that week, but for years they would be paying $50/month didn't sit well with me.

I told this man very politely (not calling him out) that this was not for me. I got a text back telling me how foolish I was being and he thought I was a "nice girl" but dumb. I couldn't believe he talked to me that way. Currently, I'm looking for a job now. I'm so much worse off than before. I've been living off of bread and Ramen noodles so I can at least afford next month's rent. I feel so foolish. I have had 4 interviews in the last 2 days. PLEASE if anyone who has responded to adds hiring immediately... Run. I can say though, I sleep like a baby knowing I won't put anyone else in a financial situation.

I will leave this simple as I can. So far everything that others have said seems exactly what I experienced. Knocking on the door late, offering to clean your floor, pushy... The list can go on and on. The product however can be negotiated in price if you continuously say no because they want to sell it as much as possible. I wouldn't doubt the people you may have encountered were likely the same ones I had. One thing that did angered me was they say it will be 30-45 min but end up being there for nearly 3-4 hours! And the guy who seems to be the upper hand of the others was definitely a real jerk. Jerked around our vacuum, that he was comparing to the Kirby, and forced himself to our upstairs! He was a tall lanky blond with glasses. Who I did not appreciate in our home.

The fellow who was below him was kind and nice. The Kirby co family should give the slow kind people the upper job, not the snobby careless ones like the blond guy w/ glasses. Looking for a good product better than Dyson-- this would do the trick. It's expensive but can be negotiated and likely worth it down the road. Just pushy advertisers. So be blunt, bold and stand your ground. Hope this helps.

Demo guy gives this whole demo on how filthy your carpet is. 2 hours later he calls someone else to negotiate a "reasonable" price. Multiple people come hassle you to buy. The person on the phone said they do maintenance on certain products and I can work whatever hours I want. This sounds great! Not...sounds like a scam seeing they don't care what qualifications you have. If they said you can make this much working anytime you want if you have a MBA (Master of Business Administrative) degree, I would believe it. But when I show up for the interview and joke how it all seems sketchy, the human resources person assures me it's not because "she's been there 2 weeks!" We talk awhile and I find out she doesn't even have a high school diploma! Working human resources no less!

So, I do the stupid interview and they ask me to call back to see if I got the job. WHEN HAVE ANY OF YOU EXPERIENCED THIS? Every job I ever got hired to called ME back, and if they didn't call me back after an interview I got the drift. Anyways, I do the orientation. When I showed up, I asked again what we will be doing. The woman is rather slow telling me. She looks to the ceiling and says she'll tell me during orientation. (Hint future job lookers: If the employer is reluctant to tell you what you are going to be doing, please be reluctant to take the job).

During orientation she shows "the presentation" you all here are complaining about here with the "white disks." Someone asked about the "great pay" I mentioned earlier. How much tax would be taking out? "None," the lady replies. (Hint: If you're making around a 1000 every two weeks and don't have to pay taxes to the state or federal government, then you're probably caught up in some shady-ish). We all leave. I come here and read the complaints. I call back 2 hours ago and told them I didn't want the job. Thanks to you all.

PS: Just remember, the people selling Kirby vacuums are just regular people down on their luck. They hire anybody. Don't think these are clever con men scamming you. These are ignorant people with no high school diplomas, who just got out of prison, recovering drug addicts, students looking for summer jobs, teens looking for a first job, etc. They are not professional con men. I purchased a Kirbyville vacuum cleaner from a very pushy sales manager 2 years ago. It was absolutely one of the worst decisions I have ever made. They give you 3 days to reverse your decision, however shortly after the salesman left I decided wanted my Dyson back. I tried contacting company several times, got nowhere.

Okay, if anybody ever comes to your door and asks you to do a brief survey for them so that they can win a trip. Let that be your first warning. I just had the pleasure of spending an hour and a half with two Kirby reps, that bugged me so much that I don't think I'm a nice person anymore. I will never talk to another solicitor ever again. I would say I'm a very polite person, and every other solicitor I've ever talked to I would hear them out. But never again. After our apartment got flooded a couple days ago, and we had all the padding pulled up, I came home after work and was waiting for the carpet company to come and replace the padding on our carpets. So when I got a knock at the door, I thought it was them. It was not. The lady at my door asked me if I would take a brief survey for her so she could win a trip, and she told me that she wasn't asking me to buy anything. So, being the person I am, I agreed to help her out.

She asked me how often we clean our house, what we used to clean our house, how often we clean our carpets And then she asked me if she could demonstrate something on the most frequently walked part of our house, which was our front door. Thinking that it was just the front door and that she wouldn't come into my house I agreed. "Sure why not". So then she said "Okay I'll be right back". She came back with another guy, and both of them pushed past me and walked into my apartment carrying boxes and bags and hoses. Before I could even think straight, the woman introduces me to the guy saying that he was going to demonstrate how to clean our carpet with their machine.

I immediately told him I was waiting for a carpet service to get there and I didn't want him touching the carpets because 1: they are not mine, they belong to the apartment complex, and 2: I didn't know what this thing was about to do to the carpets, and there was someone about to come repair them. Before I could say anything more, the woman walked out the door. So here I am in my apartment by myself with this complete stranger who unintentionally just invited in to my home. And before I could say anything to him he started his speech. He said he would not shampoo anything or make them wet, he was just going to vacuum and show me what it could do. He said he was going to blow my mind with how well it could clean. This man did not take a breath, it was word after word after word after word.

He did not give me a chance to say anything until he started to vacuum and pulled out a little disk that showed me how dirty my floor was. I now understand that the woman was just there to make me feel comfortable before inviting this man into my apartment to do his spiel. I had never heard of a Kirby vacuum before, they are very nice, they do a very good job, but that is a luxury that I am not in any position to finance right now. I told him that upfront. Meanwhile, I had my phone on me with 911 on speed dial. Just to make that clear. I felt very uncomfortable about being at my apartment with a stranger that I did not invite into my apartment intentionally. Every time he showed me a new function of the vacuum I would ask him how much and then he would show me another function of the vacuum. So I already knew this vacuum was going to be way out of my price range.

When he finally did show me the price of the vacuum on a pamphlet that he had along with another pamphlet for distributors with their company winning a trip if they sell a certain amount of vacuums, I was not going to purchase a vacuum for $1900! The guy was very informative, and unlike his coworker he was very polite, he had a disability, so I just let him do his thing. But when I found out how much the vacuum was I politely told him that there was no way I could purchase the vacuum. He said "okay" and then showed me another function of the vacuum. After about an hour and me getting frustrated trying to figure out a way to kick this guy out of my house the woman knocks and comes back in my apartment. She sits down on my couch right beside me and he starts telling her what we've discussed. He was honest and said that I couldn't afford it today, but she was determined to sell it to me one way or another.

Meanwhile I have three cats, and whoever comes into my apartment knows I have three cats. My cats are very aware of everybody that comes into their home. My cats jump up on the couch to greet her, and she flips out saying she's terrified of cats. So I grabbed my two cats and take them into the back bedroom and close the door I come back out of the bedroom with a burst of courage, and explain to her what I explained to him, "I cannot afford this vacuum, I can barely afford this apartment, I'm sorry I wish I could help but I cannot I'm sorry". She said "I'm gonna make you a deal and instead of making you pay $1900 I only make you pay $1400, it's a deal that I only give to my family". I told her "I'm sorry but I still don't have that kind of money". She said "Okay, I will give you a special discount just for you because I've been in your shoes", and she writes down $1000 on a piece of paper folds in half and hands it to me.

Now I feel like I'm in a hostage situation. $37 per month, that's her final offer. I told her that I do not have an extra $37 a month for vacuum, sorry! She begins asking me how good my credit is, and that if I have bad credit and I finance this vacuum then I can help with my credit. At this point I have about had it! I stand up and put my hands over my head turned around to face both of them and said "I'm sorry I wish I could help you but I can't. I will not buy a vacuum from you today".

I told them "A carpet cleaning service should be coming any second now to finish doing my carpets. I need you guys to leave so that they can come and finish the job". She's says "Okay "Boo" I'll talk to you later" and leaves. The man quietly packs up his stuff and I open the door to let him out. All of this could've been avoided so incredibly easy if I were to just say no to begin with. I am way too nice . And this could've been a lot worse I know, but best believe I will never speak to another solicitor again.

We had a very nice, bubbly young lady come knock on our door on a Saturday afternoon. She handed me a flyer and told me they were thanking customers for keeping them in business for 60 years and they were offering a free room cleaning for one room. I explained to her that we were probably ripping our carpet up and replacing it anyway. I told her I would be more interested in just having someone do an estimate for cleaning 1 or 2 rooms of carpet and she said that they would be back between 5:30 and 6 to do an estimate. At 8 pm 2 people showed up with 2 GIANT boxes and told me they were here to do the in-home demonstration I'd agreed to.

At this point, my kids go to bed at 8:30. They've interrupted family movie night and putting my kids to bed. Well these two sales folks showed their stuff until well after 9 and about halfway through she showed me the price and I told them there was no way I could even consider it. I told her to pack up and head on her way because there were other people who probably could afford to buy her vacuum and since I couldn't I didn't want her to waste her time. Even after telling her that, she said she HAD to do a demonstration because her boss checks on her. She called her boss 3 times during this demonstration and told her boss where she was in the process of demonstrating the unit to me and what I'd said. They offered me 3 different prices until finally it was $1 down and $1 dollar a day. I finally said there were only so many different ways I could say no and she should pack up and leave.

On the way out she called her boss again and asked me when I thought I would be able to buy and I said never unless they cut the price by a bunch or I win the lottery. Folks all I can say is it wasn't a really high-pressure sale, and they are very nice people, I'm just really peeved that they weren't actually carpet cleaners and they wouldn't take no when I said no. I googled the same vacuum and it was on sale online for $1500 bucks which is almost half what she quoted me.

I did purchase the Sentria 2 years ago because of the newer technology. I love it. Cleans great. Yea it's heavy but you need the weight to get deep in the carpet. The problem with buying a Kirby is dealing with the salespeople who want to gouge your eyes out. Find mine on Craigslist brand new from a former salesperson. Paid 400 dollars. Suggest others do the same eBay or Craigslist. Stay away from Kirby's sales crew if you don't want to get ripped off. I live in a condo and I see in the dumpster every week Hoover vacs Dysen vacs. Okay, an overweight salesman comes to my door and hands us a free bottle of gain fabric softener if I let a "trainee" do a demonstration with vacuuming and washing my carpet. At first I said no then after pleading with me to let him train and no worries for me buying anything my wife agreed to this. The guy demonstrator (obviously nervous and new at this) did an awesome job but could tell by his nervousness (as seen by his profuse sweating) that something else was about to happen. An hour and a half later and after the demonstration was complete, he became anxious and kept looking out my door, called his office, and attempted to get a hold of the elder salesman.

Now mind you, what we originally told these gentlemen was my wife worked 14 hours the night before, had a doctor's appointment this morning that lasted longer than usual, and she hasn't been to bed yet. So, when the (I'll call him closer from here on out) closer finally arrived, he asked how things went and started to proceed to sell us this vacuum. Now he wanted to give us $486 for our vacuum and carpet cleaner and a $100 off the trip and payments of $79/month x 36 months. He first presented this to my wife and she told him not at this time. She also politely asked them to leave as she needed to get some sleep.

Mind you the "trainee" told the closer this not only on the phone but also before he entered my home for the second time. The closer went into my kitchen where I was at cooking and showed me the numbers just after my wife told him no. I too explained our current financial status (well not all of it but enough) and he again tried the numbers game. My wife became irate and yelled at the closer. He seemed upset she yelled at him. Oh well, he should not have pushed or went behind her back. He exited my home first and the trainee followed not before we told him it wasn't him she was upset with. His words were "I tried to tell him".

I don't know if anyone who is reading this watches the cartoon King Of The Hill but there is a moral to this. Hank Hill sells propane and propane accessories. That includes grills. In an episode they are having a grill extravaganza. He educates on the product, gives them a pamphlet with the info and tells them to read it over to make an informed decision. This is how this salesman should have acted. He should not have pushed this product on us. Because of this, no sale now or ever.

I have been interrupted twice by these door to door salesman who won't take no for an answer. First time, the guy had just barged into my auntie's house, non stop talking about the product. More or less, I willingly let him and another salesman demonstrate how the Kirby cleans since they already invited themselves in. I'll admit that I was impressed with it and the guy did an amazing job but all of a sudden he gets a call and I guess it's team leader rushing him to hurry up. All in all he left, left my carpet wet from shampooing it and asked if he can back a second time to clean the bedroom but we had denied.

Second case: I straight up told this lady named "**" that I wasn't interested due to the first time but she wouldn't take no for an answer. Then she said "well why don't I have someone just blow bubbles for your nephew", coz I was babysitting at the time. 45 mins she came back with 2 other people then left. The guy that she had left in my home did nothing but make a mess, freeload drink and snacks off of me and tried to secretly sign me up for one. I was asked to just fill out a form to see if I would qualify for one. And so I did. He makes calls, mentions these special deals and what-not. I got tired of entertaining him after 2 and a half hours of absolutely nothing but nonsense, so he's in my dining area, filling out some forms, I ask him how much longer will this take and he said he's just about done.

He hands me this document asking to sign it and I asked him for what. He says it's for the Kirby he had brought in that he's leaving it with me and I don't have to pay anything until July.. I told him no I wasn't interested. I told him how I explained it to **, how I wasn't interested at all but she insisted that someone come in to blow bubbles for my nephew, not knowing what she really meant was, "I just tricked you, we're doing the full demonstration." I got fed up and made it clear I wasn't signing anything, I didn't want to hold onto the Kirby, and had asked him to tear up my information, which he did. And after all the fuss, he had nothing to say, but from the time he entered my apartment to the time he was signing me up for one, he was non stop talking. Then when the other man that ** had with her came back to pack up the Kirby, he had attitude and was slamming the products back in the box. And they left without a word.

Unprofessional and unbelievable. I had my nephew. I should have known better for his safety but never again will I ever let another Kirby salesman into my home!

I get a knock on my door around 3PM, it's two salesmen and they hand me a bottle of cleaner. They say it's multipurpose and works on everything and oh by the way they work for Kirby and want to shampoo my carpet if I let them demo a vacuum. My thought process; free carpet cleaning for a simple demo, come on in! WRONG, so so wrong.

I let them bring the vacuum in and they ask for me to vacuum with my Dyson first before they use the Kirby. It's their turn and of course they pull up tons of dirt and dog hair (would I be impressed if they didn't??). They tell me multiple facts about dirt such as drinking mud is healthier than owning my Dyson or that the dirt is cutting my carpet which is the reason they keep pulling it up. They go to the bedroom and vacuum my mattress, they vacuum the couch and even the hardwood. It's impressive obviously or I wouldn't have let them continue until they keep going... And going and going. The guy hands me a paper of their pricing as he continues to vacuum - $2700!!! But wait, they have payments plans! I politely tell them I would never pay that much for a vacuum. His response? Vacuuming. Do you catch my drift here??

The best part is the end. He's finished his vacuuming (finally) and can tell I'm not feeling the price. He calls his "boss" who brought it down to $1399, still not feeling it. He then asks his coworker to step outside as he calls his "uncle" and somehow it's drastically reduced to $550, ok I'm interested. I look up prices and reviews and found multiple prices to be $350-400 with mediocre reviews. BUT THEN he tells me he really wants to go on this trip to lake Cumberland if he sells this to me. That's when he lost me. Three hours later they told me they could only shampoo a piece of my carpet, they took my complimentary bottle of cleaner and left a mess in my bathroom. I'm so glad I had the balls to say no, you all should too!!

If you do buy, like us, you will soon discover you could have bought the same machine online for 1/9th the price you just paid. When you decide to return the product two days later, they will throw a pity party about how now they won't win a four-wheeler. A few weeks ago, a Kirby salesman came to our door, offering a free bottle of detergent, if we would let them clean a room. We were busy, at the time, but said they could come back another time. They chose not to leave the detergent, which was fine. The next couple of times they came, we were still unable to accommodate them, but I humorously noticed that the free offerings were getting smaller and cheaper. The last time we couldn't accommodate them they were offering a paper towel roll. We never took them, though. When we finally were able to let them clean the room, they wouldn't give us anything, claiming they had already given it us, on a previous visit. I don't really care that much about the stupid roll of paper towels, but if they come to your door, offering a bottle of detergent, don't put them off for another day. By the time they come back, it might only be napkin that they claim they already gave to you.

The guy said he was offering free carpet cleaning just for "advertisement" and that some of my neighbors had already helped him out. He showed me a list with a couple of names and I thought I recognized one, but didn't pay too much attention.

I live alone and there was no way I was going to let some guy into my house at 9:00 at night. He asked what area was the worse and if he could come in and take a look. Of course I said no. And he had the audacity to ask "why not?" I said because I am ready for bed. I was in my night clothes and had a towel on my head. He said he could be in and out in 30-40 minutes. Again, I said "no, not tonight." He started to say something else, but I just put up my hand and said "no" and he finally left.

What is the matter with these people? At this point, I wasn't sure what he really wanted. I got on the Internet and found almost word for word story after story of this happening to other people and it turns out to be a Kirby vacuum cleaner salesman. I was present for my Mom's in-home demonstration. We are very clean people so I was interested just what this machine could do for us. I was impressed with the Kirby machine's power, and very impressed with the knowledge the salesman afforded us. We learned and experienced that deep down dirt is what ruins carpets. I was especially impressed with the theory of "triple cushioned vibration", a unique feature of the Kirby systems, which states that vibration, airflow, and suction must work in perfect concert to lift the carpet, open the nap, brush loose the grit and dirt, and suck it away. The demonstration put this theory to the test, and we saw the difference! I now understand why other, more "popular" vacuums like Dyson, Bissell, etc. cannot compete with the power of a Kirby. This knowledge, coupled with the longevity of air-craft grade aluminum, vast array of accessories, and HEPA-filtration make Kirby the only choice for me for the rest of my life!

I welcomed a Kirby salesman by the name of ** into my home this evening, with the promise of a free multipurpose cleaner and a brief demonstration in which my carpet would be cleaned. I figured, "What the heck, I'll give this man a few minutes of my time." He did an excellent job demonstrating the features of the the vacuum, and I was impressed by the amount of dirt the machine picked up off of my various home surfaces. My fiance has terrible allergies and the allure of having the ability to vacuum up and eliminate allergens in our home was a huge selling point for me. My fiance came home and was also quite taken with the product.

** was in our home for about an hour at this point and I politely explained to him that we had to wrap up the demonstration because we had to be somewhere. He started to explain pricing to us, and even with our surprise at how outrageously expensive this machine was, we listened to his sales pitch. Right around his offer to discount the $1,800 price by $300 to take the model he used in our home and another $95 for them to take our current vacuum cleaner, there was a knock at the door. An older man came in to help ** close the sale.

By the time this second man stepped foot into our home my fiance and I were running late for an event we needed to be at, and he would not stop talking. He kept telling us he didn't want to waste any more of our time, but...and then he would go on a tangent about some feature of the product or benefit of the lifetime rebuild warranty. He also scolded ** several times on things he did not do during the demonstration because I had cut the demonstration short due to time constraints. This man would not back down no matter how many times my fiance and I explained that I was unemployed and that we were saving for our wedding and future home. The vacuum was just not in our budget, but he would not take "no" for an answer.

I ended up leaving to make it to our previous engagement, which I was 25 minutes late to, and left my fiance to deal with the sales people. He repeatedly told them "no," that this was not a good time, but they wouldn't leave. And then another man knocked on the door. They offered additional discounts and financing options, and stayed in our home for another 40 minutes after I left.

I feel badly for ** because he really was a nice guy. It's unfortunate that he has to work with these bullies who think that if they just keep talking and get more aggressive with potential customers people will buy their product. Is the vacuum really worth the $1,100 he finally offered my fiance? Who knows? But even if it really is worth the ticket price of $1,800 I would never in a million years buy a product from a bully.

We had just recovered from a fire and were in a new house so I was still trying to get us back on a budget like before. I told him this along with having a hard time to put food on the table for my child as well.

He still continued to push saying yes you can afford it, it's just so much down with so much a month and that it would help win him his trip. I straight up told him we can not afford it! Then he proceeded to ask of we wanted to trade anything for the down payment. We again said "No, we just got all of our stuff back after a fire from the previous year!" A friend, who just so happen to be at our house to hang, started talking about dinner since it was about 6:30 pm and the kids needed to start getting around for bed. We thought maybe that would shoot a hint to "It's time to go", but nope. Continued for another hour trying to get us to buy the vacuum. My friend and I left to go to the store, leaving my husband to try and get him out.

We were gone for awhile. Came back to the guy still there along with the guy who dropped him off. He had "to show me" the new numbers that they had come up with. The vacuum was now down to $1061 and only $39/month. At this point I was done playing miss nice lady. I told him I was done, he had pushed us for 3 hours at this point to get us to buy the Kirby. I told him I was telling him not on the nicest way possible and yet he still continued to push for so long. I was done! I started making dinner at about 8 pm and he was still continuing with pushing. Next step was to let my dogs out of their kennels. It wasn't until 8:15 pm the guy walked our front door throwing the car mat he just cleaned in the mud. After experiencing this I will never buy a Kirby! Just coz the sales people have no consideration for anything!!! Start selling them in stores and for an affordable price then maybe I'd consider buying one!

I bought a Kirby vacuum cleaner about 23 years ago and it is still going strong. I can use it for pretty much everything from the floor to vacuuming drapes and walls and pictures on walls that are too high to reach, to the deck (getting between the boards), sucking up leaves. I know you can use other vacuums for the same thing but, the Kirby really does the job; faster and better, the first time doing it. You don't have to go over and over things. It never needs fixing and this is an investment. In fact, I am putting it in my will to one of my lucky children. I have never bought anything in my life that has been so dependable and low maintenance in my life. This vacuum is the best investment I have ever made.

I foolishly agreed to a "free carpet cleaning" today from a Kirby salesperson. I'm not even sure why as a relative used to sell Kirby and I knew I was going to get the pitch. Truth be told they were at my neighbor's, someone I know well, so that gave me a small level of trust, and my carpet is really dirty... I wanted a free cleaning! I stated, as soon as the salesman was in the door, that I was not going to buy a Kirby. I also told him I was busy getting my kids' lunch and didn't have time for his pitch. He said "Ok" and then proceeded with his pitch...never even attempting to clean my carpets.

After almost a half hour, I again told him that he either needed to clean the carpets or leave. (I was home alone with two children.) He said "Ok" and then proceeded with his pitch...again. Then he tried to get me to follow up upstairs, I'm assuming to clean my mattress. I said I was not going anywhere with him. Then I became much more direct and to the point.... "Clean the carpets, like you said, or get out". He went to call his "boss." At this point, I called my neighbor and asked her to come over, while I waited for my husband to come home. (Please note, I never felt in danger from this person, but I started to become very concerned that I couldn't get him out of my house, and I was becoming very uncomfortable that he kept ignoring my requests.)

Once my neighbor arrived, his packing pace picked up. Almost an hour later, he left my house. I even told him, as he was packing, that he seemed like a nice guy, but he should find another way to make money. This is such a massive scam. He never even attempted to clean the carpet, just kept vacuuming sections of my house to show me how much dirt was in my carpet, furniture, etc. My finger was on the 9. I seriously almost called the cops...just so I could get this guy out of my house!

I don't know what kind of Kool-Aid these poor kids are fed to get them to show so much disrespect to people, but their tactics are disturbing and completely disrespectful. Interestingly, if he'd come in and done what he'd promised, I would have listened to his pitch and maybe even considered a purchase in the future. Now...I'll never, ever, purchase a Kirby and will recommend to anyone who will listen to never purchase anything from this type of company. Horrible experience!

I would not have written this review if I didn't get really surprised by the rating the above company received and the horror stories I read on your site when my experience with Kirby products and the sales people has been a total opposite. I got Kirby Sentria 1 from a Distributor in Perth, Australia. Previously I used Hoover and Dyson and I was shocked by the dirt coming out of.. Everywhere!!! That is considering I vacuum daily having 3 kids and cats.

I was not pressured into buying it - the sales person was professional and respectful. Explained he is coming to promote the Kirby and in exchange for me and my husband watching his presentation we get a free carpet clean. He promised to do one but cleaned carpet, rug and a mattress too, did very good job. And there was no pressure at all - on the contrary- I would not have let the him out of the door without buying his equipment. I did negotiate on terms of payment and got a great deal- paying it off over 3 months with no interest or fees. Kirby is very easy to push along for a machine that looks like industrial cleaner. I have arthritic shoulder and this is the easiest to push vacuum I have ever had. The upright Dyson I had before was too heavy, especially on fluffy rugs. I never have to lift my Kirby from the floor (except for cleaning mattresses), so I don't find it heavy at all.

I am so happy with my purchase and the results in my home that I told all my friends about it. 3 of them bought and are very happy too. Lately I also got the grout cleaner and the mop. Works magic on my tiled floor. Wherever my job took me I took the Kirby with me. It never broke down and never failed me. The only thing I had to do is replace a $5 belt, but I was told about that when I bought the equipment, and the sales person left 4 spares, so to date I have not spent a dollar on maintenance.

A salesman came to my door offering a free carpet cleaning because he said he was working for a "new company" and they were looking for new customers. He said there were no obligations to buy and that it was a free cleaning. I said "yes" and the salesman said "great" and that he would be back. 45 minutes later he came back in a beat up van with no company logo. His manager came in with the salesman and then they brought in huge boxes and bags. It took the space of my entire foyer. I told both the salesman and the manager that I didn't have the money for their cleaning system. They both assured me that they were just doing a free cleaning and there was no obligation to buy.

The salesman started using the machine and was pulling out all sorts of dirt into these black cloths. After a while, my entire kitchen floor was covered with these black cloths. The carpet cleaning demo lasted 6 hours! My son didn't get his nap and was running out of space to play in his own home. The salesman didn't seem too concerned. The salesman also told me that the company was having a contest for a trip to the Caribbean and if he sold me the system, he would be that much closer to get his trip. I still told him I couldn't afford the system. He had a bunch of papers in his hand. The manager told the salesman to call a specific number and read from the script he was holding in order to qualify for his trip. I watched this man call the number on my phone (his cell phone had died) and read verbatim what was on his script to qualify for his trip. Then he asked the person on the phone if they could do something "extra special" for me.

Then he told me they could offer me a special deal for the system. I told him I had no money. The manager came in shortly afterwards and they were both excited about this special deal and how the offer was never this low. It continued like this. More reading from a script, more phone calls on my phone, more extra special deals that I kept refusing. This went on until I was getting physically worn down from them being there all afternoon. The salesman then called the number on his script and asked for an extra special deal and then got a deal that I agreed to. No money down, no payments for 3 months. The manager was ecstatic and started writing up the paperwork. It would cost me $1700.00 in interest alone with this deal and the vacuum would end up costing me $4900.00. The manager assured me that the price wouldn't be so high if I paid the bill sooner than 3 years.

I had been listening to the both of them for 6 hours about how my house was filled with allergens and how my bed was covered in dust mites. They told me that there was so much trapped dust in my carpets and furniture that it was causing my family respiratory problems and jeopardizing their health. My son has asthma, the machine worked well, they had been working me all afternoon to buy. I broke down and wrote a void cheque for the system. They were so happy that I was going to buy. The salesman then continued to shampoo my rug. Then my tv and surround sound suddenly shut down. The breaker tripped. I asked the salesman what happened, both he and the manager said that Kirbys were made not to trip breakers and they didn't know what happened.

By this time my husband came home and saw all the boxes lying around and wondered what was going on. I told my husband about the breaker. He went down to check and said he couldn't turn the breaker back on. The salesman finally said that he ran over a cord with the Kirby. My husband looked at our floor lamp and pulled the cord out of the outlet. It was frayed and black. The salesman had shorted out our living room entertainment set. No apology was offered at all. We refused the deal and I was given a number to call to replace our lamp. I called the number and got another salesman who asked why I was calling. I told him about the short circuit and the damaged lamp. He told me he would call me back. That was two days ago. I feel as if I had been played by the salesmen and the company itself.

I called Consumer Finance to ask about this and was told that was false. They would not pay me any amount of money in return. Since I am past the time I can return the vacuum I am stuck paying for it without the 700.00 back that the salesman promised me. I shouldn't have believed him. He was lying. We have had to fix the belt twice as it gets out of place and the vacuum starts smelling like it's burning. It gets very loud. The shampooer does not work for the carpet or for the furniture. The shampooer is a big joke and bigger scam than the vacuum itself. Kirby is a scam and the salespeople are dishonest.

Tonight around 8:00, WAY too late to be making house calls in my opinion, a man and a woman showed up at my house. I opened the door, and a gentleman in his 20's or early 30's started talking immediately. The woman didn't say a word. In retrospect, I'm able to see that she was there merely to make me feel comfortable. He shook my hand after his initially spiel. I went back into my house, and before I knew it, he had invited himself back in, this time with a young ** man. No trace or mention of the woman at all. The younger gentleman barely said a word, and his presence was explained as, "He's in training. Do you mind if he sits and learns?" The man who was clearly in charge of this show asked me to be very honest with him and not to tell him I'd think about purchasing if I had no intention, etc. I agreed. I could tell immediately he was a salesman! He had the whole pitch down pat.

Granted, my carpet was pretty nasty as he was doing the demo, but I kept telling him it wasn't an investment I was willing or able to make at the time. I honestly felt like I was explaining myself and my decision WAY too much to a complete stranger who had basically slid his way into my home uninvited and unannounced.

I had such a skeevy feeling, considering I was home alone with my three daughters. I contemplated calling a family member who lives up the street just to help me usher these people out! And the kicker is this: his supposed boss shows up and WALKS INTO MY HOUSE without even knocking or peeking his head in with a, "Hello? " I was so taken aback!! He showed up at the "perfect" time during the pitch and tried to sweet talk me as well. He didn't stay long. I get it, they're salesmen, they work off of commission, this is their job. But NO means NO means NO. And I was very clear with my answer each step of the way.

Finally, after 9:30 pm, they STILL weren't done with the demo and I had to politely kick them out. It was bedtime for my children (I had started communicating that to them at 8:55, but to no avail) and I was over it. The product itself works wonderfully from what I saw in the demo, and I would love to have one. But I am certainly not willing/able to make a $3000 investment with three small children to provide for and life expenses in general. Overall, I was super turned off by the pushy attitude of the ringleader and his boss, as well as their intrusion into my home. I might also mention that he inquired as to what my husband and I do for a living, how much we would spend on new furniture, the expense of our electronics throughout the house (I REALLY got uncomfortable with that - what are you going to do, rob my house when I'm gone?), and what time my husband would be home. It was such an intrusive, unappreciated end to my evening.

If they send you an ** then don't buy and kick them out, don't let people be rude and take advantage of you in your home. I purchased a Kirby Vacuum Cleaner on June 4, 2014. I am highly upset and greatly disappointed with this purchase. By the way, the cost was about $1,700.00. Had I known that it was 9 month money back guarantee, I would have sent it back, but due to my illness and going in and out of the hospital, I just missed it by 2 months. The salesmanship really sucks, they really make you think it's worth it. First of all I don't have an instruction booklet, secondly since I've owned this Vacuum Cleaner, I've used it once, it does not perform like the trial they showed me, and most importantly it was not worth $1700.00. My husband purchased me a Eureka Upright light weight Optima, it may not shampoo & have all the different components to it, but it works like a dream, who deals with bags where the dust is going back into the air. I am soooo disappointed in Kirby and how they treat their customers.

While I was at work, a man went into my mother's house to "show her specifications on their new vacuum". When I stopped by after work, he was there with the white pads showing her how disgusting the house was. Not only did I get the vibe that he was making her house out to be a pig sty - but he seems condescending in general. When he finished his demonstration (I wasn't impressed) - my mother whined because of the price. We were told $1700! Of course nobody has that kind of money, so she had declined. The man told us a sob story of how if he sold some vacuums he could take a trip for school overseas (with that money- I'm sure he could).

My mother convinced me to finance this vacuum myself. I was hesitant but I figured what the heck - $1700 at 36 months is about $40 a month and only helps me boost my credit right? WRONG! The thing broke in the first week we had it. The handle fell off, the cord holder broke off, it won't rotate the brush on the bottom, shoot - it won't even suck dirt. I've called numerous times to get it serviced, but have had no luck having anybody come out.

Here's the kicker...I financed this vacuum for $1700, so it reads on my contract. When I looked at my credit report, it's listed for a whopping $2500!! That's $800 more than I signed for!! When I called in a panic, the customer service rep was VERY rude even though I was obviously upset. I got SCAMMED!! She said there is nothing I can do about it and I need to read her my contract verbatim just to prove I don't owe $800 more than I signed for.

**, and all of your employees: YOU ARE SCAM ARTISTS. I AM A SINGLE MOTHER WITH TWO CHILDREN and NOW I'm responsible for a vacuum that costs MORE THAN MY CAR when that WAS NOT the initial agreement. I hope you can sleep at night, because I sure can't knowing that people like you are perfectly okay with ripping people off and STEALING MONEY from them. Have fun on your trip overseas. So I had scheduled a company "SUNWEST" calling relentlessly. So one day last week I answered. I had "won" a free carpet cleaning. Now I know this is a salesman coming and blah, blah, blah. So we set up a time for today, day after Easter, 9-10 am. I spent the whole night cleaning all my son's toys and moving them everywhere, to be out of the way. I moved all my furniture, I woke up early and vacuumed everything well, as directed by this ** lady. So now it's 9:10 am, and I am home waiting for this salesman, for my free cleaning. A man calls from their office. He says someone will be coming out "sometime" today and is my husband home, etc. How do they know I'm married? What does it matter if he's home?

Any who, my husband is at work. And I tell him that. I say it's just me, my son, and my dogs. He proceeds to tell me that they will not come to my house because my husband isn't home. I told him there was never any talk of my husband and why does he need to be here? His answer shocked me. He told me: I CANNOT MAKE BIG PURCHASES ON MY OWN. I HAVE TO CONSULT MY HUSBAND FIRST. ARE YOU KIDDING ME? SHOULD I ASK MY HUSBAND BEFORE I BUY FOOD FOR HIM TO EAT? FOR MY TAMPONS? I NEED MY HUSBAND'S PERMISSION TO BUY SOMETHING?

I hung up, called back, and asked to speak to a supervisor, which I'm sure the man I spoke to wasn't. He proceeded to tell me the same thing. I am not exaggerating wording or anything. As a married woman, I am "not allowed" to make a purchase without my husband. It’s a "big purchase" they said, and I need to be on the same page as my husband. No, **. I can make any purchase I want, and if my husband has a problem with it, that's between me and him, not my vacuum salesman. Don't these people work on commission? I'm so livid. Last time I checked, women can vote, buy land, and work, just like men. So now here I am, putting my house back together. With my "dirty" carpets. Keep your stupid vacuum!

She kept pushing and pushing to buy her thing. I was getting frustrated and said, “Can you please leave now? You took almost 3 hrs," and she said, "Your living room is big."

I have had my Kirby vacuum for several months now. At first I felt it was very cumbersome to change carpet attachment to floor attachment, but that is working quite smoothly now. I do have some issues with the connections in the floor attachment, however. I will be vacuuming the floor, walls or upholstery and the hoses come apart. This is very frustrating. I owned an Electrolux for 40+ years and this NEVER happened. You need to add some kind of locking mechanism between the pieces of tubing. It falls apart even more often now, since the source of "friction" holding it together, has worn off. I know you are unable to use the same locking mechanism as Electrolux, but perhaps some kind of screw mechanism would work, similar to a jar lid, for example.

Also, the brushes on the floor attachment clog up with pet hair (I have a dog and cat) and require "self-cleaning" every 2-3 minutes. I would just do away with the brushes entirely. I still have to dry mop the floors after I vacuum anyway, to get rid of the dust. I also threw out the brush in my crevice tool for the same reason.

I do love the suction power of the machine and the ability to vacuum mattresses. A small "power nozzle" for upholstery would be nice. The current system for upholstery is brutal, but a great workout for someone over 60! Thanks for the opportunity to vent. Get back to the drawing board guys and try out the machine in your own home!!!

Two days ago a young gentleman came to my home asking if he could clean one room in my home to help him win some contest. I told the gentleman "no" because I was busy with my day care and the kids were sleeping. The gentleman left and came back 30 min later with his said boss again asking. I said, "No, I am busy and closed the door." They ended up waking up all 5 kids I was watching so of course the kids were cranky. They are all sick. And when my dogs get scared they pee so of course I was trying to clean that up.

An hour later a young lady came to the door with the same boss as the guy before. I said, "I'm not interested in buying anything." The girl insisted she was only there for this said contest and only wanted to clean the room. Well after being annoyed from the kids' being cranky, dogs peeing on my floor, and annoying random sales people coming to my door, I caved and allowed her to clean the room. figuring it was helping me get everything cleaned up again. She took 3 hours to clean a small play room! She first asked to use my vacuum cleaner in which she "accidentally broke," then she used my steam cleaner again. She "accidentally broke" both totaling together $700. I've only had them for a year and nothing was wrong with them earlier that morning. So already I am angry and telling her to leave.

Her said boss then shows up apologising and said she was new and went about using the Kirby on my bed! It completely ruined my mattress. After that he apologised again and says, "No worries, we can deduct that. I said I wasn't buying. He kept giving me all these offers and I told him no. My fiancee called me and I was telling him what had happened and the said boss was on his phone and told me his boss wanted me to fill out a complaint form and said he would have everything replaced that they broke and ruined.

As I was filling it out I noticed the end -- It said, "buyer's signature." I told him I wasn't signing. The boss went outside leaving the young woman behind and came back in with his shoes on. So now the carpet they just cleaned has mud prints everywhere. He told me his boss will knock it down to $700 since they broke so many things. I still said "no." He became very pushy saying that I wouldn't want my children or my day care kids rolling in filth, calling us dirty. So I said, "Forget it," and bought it to get them out since now I don't have a vacuum or steam cleaner, thanks to them.

As he was filling out papers the young woman left me with the used demo. They took my broken vacuum and broken steam cleaner. The boss handed me the papers and as I was looking it over before signing anything they both look out the door. They completely lied saying I was only paying them $700. They charged me $1600! I called the number they gave to cancel everything and it was a disconnected number. These people are a fraud. I have no idea how to use this piece of ** and they stole my money and there's no way of getting it back. And they ruined my personal belongings.

Today a man lied to my husband to gain entrance to our home. A man came to our door saying that he was trying to get a local cleaning company started and wanted to clean a room. When he gained entry to our home, we found out that there was no local cleaning company. He was trying to sell us a Kirby vacuum cleaner. His sales tactics were aggressive and pushy and then he tried to get away with cleaning only a very small section of our carpet. I insisted that he finish the rest as promised. Throughout the presentation there were many lies and I'm positive if we had paid the ridiculous $2k for his machine, he would have sold us the one that he used on our Demo and probably countless others before.

While in my house he was very pushy in trying to get me to buy a Kirby and at times sarcastic about how dirty my carpet was. He was trying to put words in my mouth that I didn't say and tried to get my 14 year old boy to agree with what he was saying. For example he would ask him "Didn't your dad say that if my Kirby picked up more dirt than his that he would buy it?"!!

He began raising his voice in his demonstration when he realized that I was not going to buy and started saying things like: "You probably can't afford it anyway. I know you don't have $2500 in cash to pay for this anyway." He started talking about all the money he has and the houses he owns. I told him that he was in my house and that he needed to leave and he kept raising his voice. I told him that if he didn't leave that I would call the police. He said, "I'm leaving already coz I know you're not buying anyways."

A young girl knocks on my door and says that she is with a company who has a 'new and innovative' way of cleaning carpets. I told her I was not interested - my carpet is 2 months old. She said that the new and innovative way of cleaning the carpet involves 90% air and steam with 10% foam, and she'd love to quickly show me how it works, and would be "in and out in less than 15 minutes". I said no the 2nd time. Then she begged - literally, she begged. She told me that she gets credit for the 15 minute demonstration and I don't need to do anything else, and she really, really, really needs to be able to keep this job. My response was "Fine - ok - so long as it's quick." She told me that the equipment was down the street and she would be back in 15-20 minutes.

THREE HOURS LATER she shows back up again, along with 2 other people. It took them 20 minutes to get the equipment out of their van and get it set up in my house. Once I saw it, I told them that I owned a Kirby G6 already. There is nothing 'new' or 'innovative' about the company. And 15 minutes turned into 90 minutes at which time I refused to let the demo girl proceed any further. I do empathize for her - it's a tough job. I asked her how long a demonstration lasts - and she told me the full demo is usually 2-3 hours. That's just absolutely ridiculous. And the fact that they are so deceptive is beyond frustrating.

The demonstration was an eye-opening experience but I felt a bit as if the guy that was demonstrating the vacuum could not accurately answer my questions. I told them that I did not want to purchase the vacuum without my husband's consent and they continued to lower the price to persuade me. Well, I decided on purchasing the vacuum because of my infant being on the floor a lot more than anything. The guys demonstrating the vacuum were in my house for 8 hours! I had no idea it would take this long but the guys were funny, not TOO pushy, and friendly overall.

The vacuum does do a great job at cleaning. The biggest complaints I would have to say about the vacuum is its weight, complicated belt assembly, complicated set up assembly to do anything other than vacuum the floor, and it was quite pricey. I'm not 100% sure yet if the warranty and company are as true to their words as they say yet but I'm hoping so because this is an expensive purchase to gamble with.

I could not afford a new machine, but settled for a demo that ** said they only used 2 or 3 times. I bought the "new" Kirby on 30/03/2014 for R15k. And I am extremely sorry I ever did that.

The machine is EXTREMELY noisy. When I work from home and my partner has to vacuum, I actually move to work outside!! I cannot stand the noise. Even the dog goes outside and I bought ear muffs for my partner to use when she has to vacuum. I asked Kirby if this is normal when I had the first service done, and they said it is "normal". Why was my previous machine not so noisy and also not the machine that they used in the demo. In fact, the first thing that I noticed during the demo was in fact that it was not as loud as my Kirby. I am ever so sorry that I traded my old Kirby for this new one. I am not at all satisfied. I just wish I could rather get my old machine back. I am not a happy customer at all.

I get a knock on my door (my only day off with my husband in a month). This nice lady comes out with this flyer asking my husband if she can clean the carpets, I said we never wear shoes on our carpet so we don't get stains. She convinced me it wasn't a sales pitch (no solicitations sign on my door), that the company was paying them $30 to do it to help promote, reluctantly I agreed.

She comes back with these two guys, I made them take their shoes off, I offer drinks (coke), he accepts. I told them I don't have patience/time for them to clean my carpets, they can do my couch that my daughter has stained with juice/formula. The guys asks to see my current vacuum, he begins bashing the brand, he wants to then show me how much better his works than mine. He shows me those weird circle things that say we have dead skin on the couch (shocker), he says he is going to shampoo it. He sprays it with this stuff that is supposed to crystalize in mins...

Mind you my couch is suede, I told him, "just tell me how much it is so we can wrap this up." He says 2498... I'm thinking $24.98 so I agree to buy if he stops with the sales pitch and gets out. He starts writing up a contract and what not, he takes the check, calls his boss to confirm sale. My husband whispers to me he thinks I'm mistaken, but the way he wrote it on the paper was 2498 no comma or decimal.

He asks me if I want him to finish cleaning it, I said "umm yes that was part of the deal and the only reason you are in my house." He said the couch will take 45 mins to dry, by this time I'm beyond annoyed so I tell him "forget it I'll do it myself." My daughter was getting impatient and he was cutting into her nap time. He leaves, I put my daughter down for a nap. My couch is soaking wet at this point, so I sit down on the floor with this stupid thing trying to figure out how to dry my sofa off. I pick it up and it weighs about 20/30lbs, my husband nor myself can figure anything out. We get a knock at the door, loud enough to wake my angry 1 year old.

I open the door and he steps inside holding the check, he says there was a mistake in the price, how much did I think it was worth. I said, "it's not even worth what I paid. It's awful." He said he meant $2,498.00. I laughed and said, "well take it back." As I folded the check, he tries to bargain with me for $1500. I said, "not in a million years. Take your vacuum and leave." He then sits on the arm of my sofa making himself comfortable trying to "talk his boss down" over the phone. He asks me how much I'd be willing to pay, if I'd like to finance blah blah blah.

I laughed once again and he said he would accept the $25 I wrote the check for and he would pay the difference. I declined his offer and said to just take it and leave. He starts packing it up, all awhile still trying to convince me to buy. I finally opened the door and escorted him out. Now I'm sitting on my wet super stained sofa. Whatever he put on it stained every inch of my sectional, big difference from the few stains my daughters sippy cup leaked on it! These guys are a joke! I would never buy!

I didn't even think about the other charges & interests that I will be paying. Both my daughter & I hate the Kirby! It has already blown 3 belts and it doesn't clean as good as it should especially for the price I am paying. I feel they should take it back and refund me but they will not do it.

I do NOT want the Kirby because it is too complicated to use. It's NOT because I don't know how to use it! The Kirby rep seems to think that I don't know how to use it. I have a DVD and a good friend to refer to if I'm having problems operating it. I work and when I vacuum, I like to take the hose off to get under furniture while I'm right there. It's too big and too heavy! Does anyone have any suggestions to get rid of this Kirby & get my money back....at least most of it!

Some of the male employees who were trainers were doing drugs and making drug deals. That is what I was told when they were late. I took all of this to their office and they brushed it off... There was nothing they could do.. They kept putting off when they were going to deliver my items. A man named **, which whom is the owner told me I did not need my carpet cleaner right now because I need to sweep for about a week before I used it.

I told him with the amount of money I'm spending I didn't Care if I ever used it. The point is that I want my items I was promised. 2 days later. It was brought to me with rude attitude. I am sketchy as to if I am getting all the other items promised..? This was one of my worst financial decisions I've ever made.... Also you can buy these Kirby's online for $350. I also got mine for $999, so don't let them charge you no more. They will go down to whatever to get you to buy it. Probably because people have bad experiences with them. I hate the fact they lied to me. That they lied to the poor single mother who counted on the money they had promised. I gotta hand it to the Kirby guys, they have an impressive Vacuum and an even more impressive sales team. My story is roughly the same as everyone else’s here, a cute women comes up to the door looking very professional and a little flirty, asks if she can clean my floor for free and then gets a different guy to do the cleaning. He spends around 5 hours cleaning and up-valuing the vacuum. Showing you where all your dirt is and in general making you realize how filthy you really are. :P

I would say over all I was very impressed with the product, it pulled dirt, dust, mites, and all sorts of stuff out of places I never knew possible. After having my place cleaned for free I will say it felt much cleaner, possibly cleaner than I could have done myself without a Kirby. I have no real carpet in my house except for a few rugs I have in a couple of high traffic areas, so the picture I show is just from that alone.

The sales team was very efficient in their approach and everything on these pages that I have read is true, their system, their behavior, their tactics are all true. In total I had 4 people come to my door, the knocker, the cleaner, the pricer and apparently the owner. They lowered and lowered and lowered the price, started from $3500 and went down to $2100, from Cash up front to 6 months no interest no payments and $110/monthly 3 year contract.

Is the Kirby worth $2100-$3000? Absolutely. Do most people these days have $2100 of disposable cash to spend on a Vacuum? I think not. In the end I would say the experience overall was very positive, I learned about a new product, got my house cleaned, met some cool people, and was able to witness a fantastic sales approach that I haven't seen before. I would recommend Kirby to anyone who can afford to buy a thousand dollar vacuum. I however had to decline. It's not that difficult to say no even if you keep getting asked the same question.

A Kirby rep came to my house and showed the demo to my wife. We previously own a Kirby for almost 10 years and decided to get another one. We paid 950. The only hiccup I had was that I was not there and they gave me a buy back price supposedly. The only problem was that I purchased the older model and it is registered under my name. Regardless if my wife turned it in for buy back trade or not. It was my Kirby and could be proved as such. I called the company and said I want to keep the new Sentria II WHICH IS beyond awesome, I wanted my old Kirby back. Amazingly after 15 minutes, the salesman returned my old Kirby. I still kept the new one and now have 2 perfect vacuums. I feel slightly slighted because the manager says if we purchased from them originally, we get the trade discount and do not have to turn in Kirby.

My mother had a Kirby and I told my wife 10 years ago "I am going to make whatever Kirby rep comes to my house very happy because I am going to buy it instantly, they do not need give me any pitches, I want them to focus more on educating us on how to use it." The Kirby guy came one day, within the first 10 seconds, I said "you don't need to sell me, Kirby has already done that."

If you want a Kirby and never had one before, I recommend that you buy one if you got the money. Wait till taxes where you can buy it up front if you have to. They will range from 800-1000. You can find it brand new on Amazon for 950.00. Plus 30 in shipping. Or set up appointment or just wait. Your experience will be soooo much better if you have the check already written out and buy the Kirby up front and then see the demo. I love Kirby and was thinking there was going to be a huge conflict because of all the stories I have read and they took my old Kirby but it was resolved instantly.

PLEASE FIX WHAT I ORIGINALLY BROUGHT IN FOR AND NOTHING ELSE. I NEVER HAD THAT PROBLEM AND CONFUSED THEY ARE!" They called days later for pickup. I went to the service center and they showed me the broken lever.

I asked, "What happened, someone broke it because WHEN I BROUGHT IT IN IT WAS INTACT OR ELSE I WOULD'VE MENTIONED IT, REQUESTED A REPAIR, ESTIMATE OR COST TO REPAIR, AS WELL!" They immediately told me I can pay the additional cost of repair or else there is nothing they could do. I was speechless! I paid the bill for the belt repair they said they did fix and took my vacuum home in total disbelief. I called Kirby Corporate the following morning to complain. They called me back to say, if I want it repaired I would have to take it back to the store and pay for the additional repair!!

Are they serious?? Pay for a repair that I had NO knowledge of, didn't do nor request service/maintenance of when I dropped it off??! There is nothing more they can do to help or offer an explanation of! I was livid!! I asked to speak to a Manager or someone else because to escalate my complaint and I want my Kirby fixed asap! The Rep told me to hold on and then the line went dead and I kept calling back and never got an answer or call back. This was on 2/20/2015. Still waiting! My Kirby is sitting in my hallway, unable to be used and I'm not even able to find out if they EVER fixed the belt problem because the lever won't lock in place to hold the vacuum together (long enough for a push forward or one pull backwards) before the whole front end collapses and the vacuum shuts itself off!

I’m disgusted and don't know what to do or what recourse of action to take to have this Kirby working properly! At this point I need a vacuum now and shouldn't have to invest in a cheaper, store bought one until I resolve this and Kirby to accepts that THEIR AUTHORIZED SERVICE CENTER BROKE MY VACUUM OR GAVE ME SOMEONE ELSE’S. I work from home and have three kids (one of which is a toddler). It had been a busy day and I was trying to juggle a busy work load and a 2 year old. Hairs a mess, Pajama's still on and I was about to rush out the door to pick up the other kiddos from school. I get a knock at the door. I answered it and it was a very young (couldn't look older than 18) girl asking to come in and shampoo my carpets for free because each house she does this for, she gains money for college. Very confused AND busy, I told her I just didn't have time and I wasn't interested. She insisted and I declined again telling her I had to leave in 15 minutes.

Shortly after arriving back home, she showed up AGAIN. I reluctantly agreed to let her clean the front door rug, and nothing else and I was very busy and didn't have time for much more. Mind you, the sweet girl who knocked on the door was LONG gone and I never saw her again. The young woman left as well, and before I knew it, I had a huge vacuum and parts all over my living room. The young man was pleasant. I made small talk, but honestly, was just trying to be polite. I told him several times I wasn't buying anything. He tried every way possible to show how this vacuum was superior than mine. Yes, it was nice, but I don't have any desire to buy a new vacuum right now, let alone at that price.

Over an hour had gone by, and he starts going on about what I could afford. I told him I wasn't buying it. He kept saying he understood, he just had to ask to be able to get the money for school and try to win a trip to Arizona. He then hands me a contract, asking me to fill out the top portion (which states BUYER). I kept asking why I would need to fill it out if I’m not buying anything. He said they just needed it on file for to prove he had done the demo. I filled out SOME of the info (my name, address and phone number since they already had that). They wanted my social security number and I refused to give it. He kept asking why I wouldn't give it to them and I told him they didn't need it, especially given I’M NOT BUYING ANYTHING!

Finally when he got the hint when I told him I wasn't purchasing anything without my husband present (this was my polite way of telling him it wasn't happening and get the ** out of my house) and was just about to pack up, my husband walks in from a long day at work.... to which this young man goes through the hour long demo AGAIN... despite my husband insisting we weren't buying it. I bailed and went to the kitchen ignoring the young man at this point... my husband was so irritated he started playing a video game... Then the young woman came back into the house... very rudely giving us prices and almost acting pissed off at him that he hadn't sold the vacuum yet. She then kept asking why I hadn't filled out the rest of the forms to buy it (BECAUSE I’M NOT BUYING IT!).

At this point, she kept going in and out of my house so she could smoke cigarettes and kept wanting to play with my dog and snoop around my house. After several "calls" to their main office, they tried to give us the HUSH HUSH deal of $1000. My husband kept insisting we just couldn't afford it and didn't want it. Finally after my husband told the young man a dozen or so times and then completely ignored him, they packed up and left. Mind you, they still never shampooed the front carpet I had initially agreed to let them come in and do that. I was told in the beginning was all they would be doing (the exact words were "we will be in and out as quickly as 15 minutes or less").

My husband and I had a good laugh about it later. I told them from the beginning I wasn't buying anything and they acted upset at the end when we still didn't want to buy anything. I’m sure the vacuum works great, but even at the laughable $1000 hush hush price... it doesn't work THAT great. If I had wanted a new vacuum, I would have went and bought one...not waited for someone to come knocking on my door trying to force me to buy one. That alone makes me never want to buy a Kirby... and believe me, I warned all my friends and family about them already. I feel bad for the next sales person who tries to come to my door.... they will get a very unwanted earful, probably consisting of many profanities.

They said showing would only take 15 minutes, it took 2.5 hours. I did not know the person's name nor did he ever say, he told me I had a big Ole butt and that's what black guys liked. He kept asking for me to throw trash away, wanting a paper towel from the kitchen, wanted me to go get my vacuum cleaner and plug it in. He smoked cigarettes in my house and wanted to use my personal cell phone to call someone to pick him up. I was feeling very uncomfortable in my own home and I told him many times I was not interested and that no matter the price I was not buying no Kirby vacuum. I live alone and called the sheriff's department to file a report as to how the salesman acted toward me. He had stuff scattered all over my house...that I did not like!

I received a call from a telemarketer. Someone gave my name. She asked if they could come out and do a demo and clean two rooms of carpet, or one carpet and two sofas. I told her that I already had a Kirby. She asked how old. I told her 15 years old. She said it didn't matter. I said fine, can come out and clean the carpets but I am not going to buy. I told her I never use the one I have because it is too heavy and hard to change attachments. Made the appointment and salesmen did the demo. It did pick up a lot of dirt. But before he came I took out my Kirby and vacuumed the carpet. So if it so good, why was he picking up dirt with his? I wonder if they ever get it dirt-free. It was much lighter than mine.

While he was washing the carpet, which by the way did not come out good, I texted a friend to see if he needed his rugs cleaned. He said he just had them cleaned. I told him why. He said he just bought one from same group and paid $700. I showed the guy the text. He dropped his price down to $700. I told him after the carpet dried I wanted to see if the stains came out. Well they didn't. My friend said he was so sorry he sold his Miele. I am not saying it is not a good product. It is just so hard to handle. I didn't buy. I think he didn't pressure me because I already had one. No one should pay more than $700 for it. They will go down. I paid $1,500 for mine years ago.

I bought this Sentria Kirby vacuum in October of 2013. It was financed through United Consumer Financial and has been paid for completely ($2,175.84). It is the heaviest most awkward vacuum that I have ever owned. (I am 65 years old, so I have owned a few) I am in good health but I have to take several breaks to rest when I vacuum my floors. After spending so much money on this thing, I hate the idea of putting it in storage (or a yard sale) and buying another vacuum that is user friendly. If you would come and get the darn thing and give me another vacuum that I can use, it would be a Godsend. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND A KIRBY VACUUM TO ANYONE! My United Consumer account # is **.

Had a call from Kirby rep in Kenosha, WI that offered a cleaning with a demo of the product. I worked for another company that sold product using sales people to visit homes so I knew what to expect. The rep was at our home for more than 3 hours. Demo was great and she did clean our family room carpet. When time came to talk money, she started at more than $2000. We said no repeatedly so she called her "boss" and they offered the carpet cleaner at "no additional cost". We still said no. Went back and forth on price with her calling her "boss" at least four times. Finally we told her we were not paying any more than $750 and that would include the shampoo kit option. She tried as hard as she could to negotiate a higher price but when I told her I once managed sales people like her and that I understood how difficult her job was, the negotiation ended with one more call to her "boss".

We got our Kirby with all accessories, including the shampoo option for $750. This was in 2010. The Kirby machine works great - the shampoo option is not meant to "deep clean" but very good to surface clean and we now deep clean our carpet less often. In the end, be prepared to withstand a very long presentation. One tactic in these types of sales calls is the sales person wanting all decision makers (usually spouses) together for the demonstration - it's a practice used to improve the chances of making a sale. The sales person will try to wear you down and you might end up buying a machine just to get them out of the house. BUT know that you are in control - do not let them get the upper hand. You are dealing with a sales person trained in high pressure tactics so do not be afraid to simply say "No" and walk them to the door if they make you uncomfortable.

If you do decide you want to buy, NEVER buy it for the price they tell you it will cost. If you tell them you have only ** amount to spend, stick to your guns. If they really want the sale, they will come down to your price. Also beware that they will offer to sell the machine for ** amount down and then you can make monthly credit card payments. NEVER take the credit card payment option - you pay a lot in interest. So while I do love the product, I don't like the sales pressure and tactics, but I did invite them into my home so they tried their best to sell us a $2000 machine but we stuck to our guns and got the complete system for $750. We were going to get what we wanted at the price we wanted or they would be forced to leave (it is our home and after awhile they become uninvited guests).

I mean seriously, I was desperate for work, so seeing something like this piqued my interest. I knew though that something was up when within an hour after my interview, I was hired. I was super excited. But as was stated by others in these reviews, the interview was very vague and mostly about my schedule. But eh whatever, didn’t care once I was hired.

Well I went to the orientation the next day, which lasted 3 hours. Took notes. Watched the guy clean the demo carpet. Guessed vacuum prices. Blah blah blah. And then the compensation plan was brought into it. We were told we would get $500 just for setting and demoing 15 appts. Seemed easy enough. And with my schedule I planned on doing 15 appts in two days a week part time. Long story short, DONT WORK FOR THEM. I haven’t even started and I’m already fed up. Won’t even call me back to reschedule training. Glad I found these reviews. Now I don’t feel so bad. I was scammed once. I will not do it again!

I read the reviews here, which is more about the company and not so much about the product. This vacuum cleaner kicks butt. Before this I had a Dyson Animal that I paid about $600 for. It did an okay job as vacuums go, but can't even compare to the Kirby. I have a Sentra II that came with all the attachments. What really sold me was when I ran it over my black area rug and it got every single cat hair. The rotating brush got every cat hair off the back of the couches too. Cat hair is very fine and hard to get up. Also, the rotating brush used along with the Kirby spot remover gets off any stain. The sales person showed me how my Dyson had one little hose at the very end of the vacuum head that does the sucking, while the Kirby has a huge hole at the middle of the vacuum head, as you would expect. It is an amazing machine. I paid $1,900, a lot of money, but my Dyson was about done after 10 years, while the Kirby has a lifetime guarantee.

I would encourage any young couple to get one if you can. If I had this in the 70’s I wouldn't have gone through 4 or 5 cheaper vacuums in my life, and probably spent more than that. One thing, you can keep the cost down by not getting all the more fancy attachments. The tile and grout cleaner is definitely not worth it - it doesn't do anything. The salesmen did use all the tactics described here, but they were polite. I would have thrown them out but I was very impressed with the machine. They really don't have to resort to sneaky tactics, but on the other hand I wouldn't have let them in otherwise. I wouldn't suggest going through financing. You don't want to pay high interest on top of the high price. Just buy it outright or wait until you can.

Well, that seems to be a LIE! They will not come to our house because we live in a low-populated area, Red Rock, AZ. I told them they sure came out to sell in our area! I have made two service calls, and no one will service the area. They need not sell in areas they do not service. The shampooer worked well the first time I used it, but it stopped working also. I am a military spouse who was home alone while my husband was at work on a Tuesday afternoon. At approximately 2:32 pm, I get a knock on my door and I thought it was a package that we had been expecting. But instead, I was greeted by someone trying to get me into a raffle ticket drawing to win a gift card for $1,000 to go towards gas or food. I gave her my name and number, and thought that would be it, until she continued talking... She went on to ask me what kind of vacuum I used and if I had any animals in the home. I answered all her questions as she made little notes, and I thought that was going to be it (sort of like a survey). We have a brand new Dyson vacuum we had just gotten for a wedding present in December, and she wanted to see it. I refused. She said she had some more information that she could go get on Kirby Vacuums, and I agreed because with two dogs who shed, a good vacuum is a necessity in my house.

She left for a while, and then made her way into my home, (did not take her shoes off, which tracked in mud from the snow that is melting out front.) and made her way all through my living room. As she walked inside, she talked more about the vacuum and wanted to know if I had time for a quick demonstration. I told her that was fine thinking it would not take very long. But I was totally wrong, she got comfortable, took off her jacket, scarf, etc., and set them down on my sofa. That puzzled me considering it was supposed to be "quick." Anyway, she showed me all of the different attachments, and how to clean the house with this "magical" piece of equipment. The product did work extremely well, and I probably would have been more interested, if I didn't just get a brand new one, that works just as well.

I felt pressured during the entire demonstration and I told her I did not want to make any decisions on large purchases without my husband being home. Especially because we generally make those types of decisions together. She did not care, and she continued on and kept insisting that she could come back later when he was home from work to do the whole thing over again. I told her that would not be necessary, because I did not think I would be making a purchase without checking our finances first. Again, she still insisted, and I knew my husband was not going to want to listen to anyone talk about a vacuum for two hours straight.

I let her know that I had somewhere to be at 4:30 pm, and that I needed this demonstration to be over within a timely manner (considering it's already been two hours). By this time, her manager is also in my home trying to convince me to buy this high-priced vacuum after I have already said no. He tried to tell me that since I am home alone, I qualify for "Spouse Alone" or something like that, and said I was save $900+ by making a purchase now. So he starts asking me questions about where I work, what I do, and before I know it, he's filling out paperwork to get me approved for the vacuum!! AFTER I already said "no" the first time, and they kept on insisting. By this time, it's 4:26, and I keep saying, "I need to leave, I need you all to go." And they're still trying to convince me to buy the product while keeping me from my prior arrangements.

I was furious at this point, because I didn't know how many more times I needed to say "NO" before they actually understood. It took them an additional 10-15 minutes packing up all of their equipment, making me late for picking up my nephew from daycare. I will probably never buy anything from this company especially with pushy and demanding salespersons like the ones I was presented with. It is an excellent product and it picked up things in small spaces that I didn't know existed, but pressuring customers into buying things isn't the way to go! They were very nice, and while I do realize that this is how they make their money for a living, no means no.

First, he gave my dad a package of Tide Pods as a free sample that "everyone in the neighborhood received." My dad accepted the package and was told that he was going to be shown a "10 minute demonstration." 2 hours later this guy in still in our house telling us about how amazing the Kirby is. He told us that he would take a stain out of our carpet for free and that's it.

Ten minutes after I was supposed to be at another location, I talk to my parents and they repeatedly tell him, "We have to go." He then tries to bribe me! Yes, I said it, "Bribe me." He asked me If he gave me 10 Dollars, then I would be calming down about my plans. After this he made multiple calls to "his boss" (but we all knew he was the guy and was just putting on a show). He supposedly takes off 700 Dollars and we still said "No." After about four more phone calls this guy finally leaves, I was able to enjoy my night FINALLY.

But you basically need a PhD to run one of these. I had a vacuum and shampooer both totally $400 for them both. My shampooer got warped from being out in the sun so I was in the market for a new one. I could have bought a new shampooer for $200 and a new vacuum for $150, but I bought the Kirby instead. What a mistake. I wish I could go back and return it.

I don't even know where to make a complaint to the company. They only answer the phones during business hours and then sometimes not even then. I just now blew through two belts, $7 each, because I followed the instructions exactly but something still wasn't right and I killed it. I never had such a difficult to operate machine in my life. With my old shampooer, it was a no brainer, just fill the tank and get started. With the Kirby, you have to have the instruction manual on hand at all times because if you want to change the attachments or use the shampoo function, it is beyond complicated. The next day, she realized it was a stupid mistake and called to cancel the order. After a few attempts and no returned calls, she got through and they told her "good, we don't like to sell that low anyhow" but neglected to tell her she needed to submit the cancellation in writing. Luckily, we caught that in the contract and mailed in a cancellation notice as well as faxed in a copy. When asked why they didn't tell us "they forgot".

In the contract they had 10 days to return our vacuum and 40 to pick up theirs. They immediately picked up their vacuum but failed to return ours with 10 business days. My family suffers from allergies (a major point they used to pressure my wife into the purchase) and I am severely allergic to dust mites. Because they did not return our vacuum, we went a full couple weeks without being able to remove dust mites (my major allergen) from our environment. We called numerous times about getting it back. Most of the time they did not pick up the phone or return the call; in fact, they never returned the call. I think they actually accidentally picked up when we did get to speak to someone.

After a couple weeks my wife called their Main Office, they "apologized" and said it was already mailed out to us and we should received it the next day. The next day came and went, as well as the day after that. I emailed the company and they sent me a tracking number and the following day it finally arrived. Now during this time my allergies suffered. I had poor sleep and ended up seeing my doctor for help. One of my daughters got a URI and went to the doctors and was started on an antibiotic.

They breached the contract by failing to return OUR property within 10 business days. They withheld my property. As a result we got two doctor bills plus medication costs. Did they do ANYTHING to make this better or repair damages because of their breach in contract. In one word, NO. I will never buy Kirby. They are dishonest and their vacuums are nothing special. Do not be fooled. This sale was brought to us by DREAM SYSTEMS in BOISE, ID. P.S. We never did get our complimentary carpet cleaning.

The one thing I liked about him was that towards the end of the day upon completing the last round of demos he would buy some beers and we would drink in his suburban.

What I didn't really like about him was that he used the n-word a lot. The 3 senior guys who worked there also used the n-word a lot and in my presence (I am a black guy). I tolerated because at this point this was the only place I could get work without a work permit on hand, they did not do their due diligence in hiring people. This is the kind of job where you have a potential to make a lot of money if you're willing to forgo having a lot, but more importantly it is the kind of job that should be a last resort to people who for one reason or the other cannot get hired elsewhere. Most I ever made in a week was $2000. Least I ever made $50 LOL.

The pay structure is as such: if you do 10 demos a week and sell at least 3/10 you get an extra $300 on top of commission from those 3 sales. It is very black and white. If you sell 2/11 you don't get that $300, you sell 4/9 you don’t get that $300. They really stress the importance of doing demos, because of statistics. You should be smart enough to understand that.

Now for the commission, if I sold a Kirby at $2000 or above I get 15% commission only if you paid cash, credit card or check for it. Or if you finance it and it came out as (like we called it an "A" loan, this means you had really good credit). If sold for less than $2000 I get only 10% and if your credit is just ok I get only $100 in comish regardless of what I price I sell it for. If your credit is absolutely bad but good enough to our finance company I get $50 regardless of price it sold for.

In the course of doing this job I lied a lot. I never lied about critical things like warranty or cancellation periods but I did a little embellishing to try to make a sale.

The most difficult part of the job is getting a total stranger to let you into their homes. But we have mastered it. Someone comes and knocks on your door with a "gift (air freshener in our case) tells you "hello I’m Mr. ** with ABC firm" my boss is having a great contest for us today and he is paying me to get 10 different opinions on a cleaning product. Basically I’m offering you a free cleaning of one room in your home plus shampooing the carpet for your opinion.... at this point I hand you the the air freshener and immediately turn my back and start running to the car simultaneously saying "give me one sec I’ll be right back. At this point you are a bit puzzled, this is my goal.

I arrive back at your door step with the shampoo box which is much smaller and lighter than actual Kirby. Once I’m at your door again without invitation I wipe my feet at your door step and just walk in. (Notice everything I have done up to this point is very deliberate including wiping my feet at the door step. If I’m assertive enough you will move aside subconsciously to you because I’m assertive and also because you don't want to be rude. I look at the carpet right in front of the door way and surrounding area which is usually worn out because it's step on so much and ask you if that is your high traffic area. I’m doing all this while squatting or kneeling down. This is another psychological trick we used because when you are towering over me you feel safer and even superior but make no mistake I am the lion of the jungle the whole time and I’m in complete control of what is going on.

Now from the moment I wiped my feet and walked into your home, my team leader is in the car watching me. Once I step in he brings in the actual Kirby very quickly all while I’m asking you about high traffic areas in your carpet and making small talk. Once he gets in your home and drops off Kirby he starts making small talk with you. The purpose here is to distract you, while you're busy talking to him/her I am unwrapping the Kirby and setting it up, I did it in 20 seconds before you know what's going on I’ve started vacuuming again because you don't want to be rude you won't kick me out. And in fact the only way is to physically push me out. Or get very, very upset. If you try to object to my cleaning the floors while being soft spoken I will ignore you for the most part and try to get you to see how exciting this product is. This is the way we were trained.

My boss would get really upset if you got kicked out of a demo for any reason at all. I’ve stuck around waiting for a lady to go pick her son up from school because I will still in her house when it was time for her son to come back home. She tried to kick me out but I wouldn't let her. Whenever someone would buy the Kirby despite us lowering the price so much (we went down to $1000 and never below that) make no mistake that customer will be insulted by my boss. They would call you a dumb ** no kidding. I witnessed it all the time. Their mouths had no filter. My boss was a mid 40s guy and he was always trying to bang one of the girls who was only 20 yrs old (she was cute but still)...

I did pretty good at the job. Won that trip to Vegas. I sold about 21 Kirby’s in March 2014. I stayed on the job even after my work permit came in because it was becoming apparent that I would sell enough Kirby’s to qualify for the Vegas trip and I told my boss to be at the new job about this, he was cool enough to let me resume at a later date after the Vegas trip.

There was a point where my boss gave me a talk (he only has this talk to people he is planning on promoting to team leader). He says he knows I have my engineering degree and all but he didn't think I could find something I would like more than Kirby, to which I thought he was delusional. Nobody who has any options in life would work at Kirby unless you're thinking has been distorted by all the brainwashing they do.

After I was hired I remember having a conversation with the guy who did the 3 day training for the new hires. He told me that because I thought I was the smartest in the room I was asking all the "negative" questions. Keep in mind this guy went to a training session organized by Kirby on how to train new hires. It's basically to train them how to respond to questions which if answered in a transparent and straight forward manner would expose some of the negative aspects of becoming a Kirby dealer such negatives are hours of work, actual nature of the job, pay etc. because on avg about 60% of new hires quit on the first day on the job upon learning what it is that they are doing because believe it or not prior to that first day on the job you have no clue what type of job it is.

I didn't because at the time I had no other choice but to do it. When I had this conversation with him I knew I was already going to quit and no matter how antagonistic I got with him I could not be fired because they needed to hire more people and I was actually pretty good at the job. I basically wanted him to let him know that despite his lying to all of us hires during the training I was still working there selling Kirby’s and even if I had learned the actual truth then I would still be there and I also wanted him to explicitly acknowledge that he did lie. Needless to say he never acknowledged it and it turned into a big ** show.

Overall, I didn't like the people I worked with because of their personal character and they would lie big lies to make a sale. They would cheat you out of commission if you do not properly document your demos and sales. I’d say 90% of all the negative things you see about Kirby is true. But make no mistake, there is not a better vacuum cleaner on the market than a Kirby. I just wish wish it wasn't a direct sales business because there is just no competition between a Kirby and any other vacuum. I have a lot of bad things to say about Kirby as a business but that vacuum is freaking awesome.

I know I wrote a lot but if you guys have any questions about Kirby, if you got hired by them, and want to know what work is like, or if you just need a question about the vacuum itself answered feel free to ask me. Cheers.

"LOCAL COMPANY AHEAD IN PRODUCTION, BEHIND IN PERSONNEL / NEED 20 HARD WORKERS / $400 WEEKLY PLUS BONUS AND VACATION PER COMPANY AGREEMENT / CALL ** FOR INTERVIEW TODAY. ASK FOR MR. KEN **." This right here, is an example of the misleading Craigslist ad to trick people who are looking for jobs into selling Kirby vacuums. How the hell can a company be "ahead" on production without any personnel that's supposed to be doing the work. They don't give away any of the details included because that'll scare people off, for good reason. Kirby is so desperate to hire anyone that they don't drug screen or do background checks. That's right, by letting a Kirby sales goon into your home you could be letting a possible felon into your home. Kirby is a bunch of lowlife, dopeheaded idiots for taking advantage of people in desperate need of jobs in this economy.

Sorry to see the bad experience some people have had. We had our machine serviced January and bought some supplies (bags and belts). I must say that our experience on the service visit was really quite pleasant. My wife is getting a little forgetful and the young man really took the time to almost re-train her on the uses of the cleaner. Nice manners and really good treatment (as it has been annually now for the last 7 years). Since we've had only good service I don't think it would be completely fair to judge an individual or corporation on the whole just through the bad feedback because as consumers we tend not to take time out to right good stuff. Bad news travels fast. Good news barely gets a mention. Keep up the good work Kirby. See you in a year and I didn't write this to get free bags lol.

Like many of the reviews/complaints I read on here these guys want to get into your house. I don't know why I let him on the back porch even but I told him I had just mopped the kitchen floor. My husband was working down in his workshop but he didn't push for him to come up to see the demonstration. He emptied out this big box and started going through stuff about the vacuum, demonstrating on the very dirty piece of carpet there. I told him from the start I wasn't buying it. His "team leader" left and didn't come back for quite awhile. He asked questions like he was making conversation, where we had worked, etc. He kept trying to get me to let him into the living room to demonstrate on the carpet there and also into the bedroom as "the mattress is the dirtiest place in the house" but I wouldn't let him.

He took up well over an hour of my time. He asked questions about what I thought of the vacuum and whether I would buy it if the price was right, etc. By that time I was tired of it all and just wanted him out of the house and told him he could pack it up but he said he had to leave stuff out so his team leader could see that he had done the demonstration. At no time did they mention a price and I did not ask. He had sprayed a foam cleaner on the rug and there is a big spot there where it was. Eventually the "team leader" came back and he helped the other guy pack it up and they left. I wish I had my afternoon back and hope no one ever tells me they just bought a Kirby! I sure wouldn't.

I'm so glad I followed my instinct in saying repeatedly to the sales rep that came to my door "I can't commit to anything until I look at my financial budget." She said she could shampoo a small area for her contest to a trip to Vegas. I agreed to let her in because I could always use a free shampoo. She assured me I won't have to buy anything today. Back in my mind I knew she was building her sales pitch when she mentioned that the lowered price from $5000 something down to today's price of $2800 something. The fifteen minute demo lasted almost two plus hours. I kept repeating myself "I can't commit to anything until I look at my financial budget." The sales rep even wanted me to wake up my husband who sleeps during the day for his night job for him to agree to the transaction. I was NOT going to wake him up for that and deal with his wrath.

The pleasant sales rep proceeded to negotiate the price and even called in her boss who came into my house and sat down - she took out forms. She asked me my name, birthday. I stopped her, asking her why she’s taking my information. She said rather rudely, “You're buying the vacuum. This is the contract.” I finally said a little louder, “No I'm not. I said repeatedly to you guys, I can't commit to anything until I look at my financial budget.” Then they rolled their eyes and packed up all their equipment and left. I'm so glad I didn't buy anything and now I'm really relieved I didn't, after reading all these reviews revealing the same story. Do Not Fall for their sales pitch and practices. I’m sure the vacuum is excellent and good quality, but their sales reputation is disgracing their Kirby name.

In February 2014, a young woman knocked on my door just before my grandson and I were getting ready to eat lunch. She said she had to earn points and would only take a few moments of our time. This was approximately 1 p.m. Some five and one-half hours later, a white van drove up and a male and female knocked on my door. Apparently they were Kirby salespersons. I admitted that the machine cleaned well, but explained that because of a severely disabled back, I was unable to use the Kirby. They then began to work on my mentally ill grandson, praising his ability to use the Kirby. After many protestations, and owing to low blood sugar (no lunch) and lack of backbone, I succumbed to the pressure and signed the paperwork. I was greatly relieved to get them out of my house. Subsequently, my grandson tried to use the Kirby, and the belt broke.

When I called their office (March 2014) and requested one, the Kirby office mailed the belt with $2.83 postage due. I didn't pick it up. When I called again, Kirby sent a representative who brought a belt with her and showed us how to install it. On January 31, 2015, I called the Kirby office and requested a replacement belt (they keep breaking). I spoke to the supervisor, Crystal ** , who was quite rude to me, and requested a belt. (Her rudeness may have been induced by my request that she make sure correct postage was affixed.)

Ms. ** also assured me that a belt would be mailed and someone would call and schedule a home visit. Once again, over two weeks have elapsed, and no answer and no belt. Yesterday and today (February 9-10, 2015), I called Kirby and talked to Carrie, who has scheduled someone to come to my house next week. My dissatisfaction and wanting to kick myself are exacerbated by reading the vacuum cleaner reviews in this month's Consumer's Guide. Vacuums priced significantly lower than Kirby are rated more highly.

She says if I sign the paper for her so she can get college credit then I can have the free can of Air Wick and she will be out of my hair. In an attempt to not be rude, I smiled, signed the paper, and said, "Thank you." Immediately a man jumped out of the van with three boxes and pushed his way into my door. I explained that I was not interested in buying a vacuum but by then, the van and the girl were gone so I was left with someone setting up a vacuum for a demonstration.

I told them multiple times that I would not be buying a vacuum. Long story short, the guy was very pushy and stayed for over three hours!! My whole Sunday evening down the drain. What made it even more unnerving, he kept asking questions about what we paid for things and even asked what my husband kept in his shop. I didn't know if they were looking to come back and rob me or if they were really trying to sell a vacuum. I'm not sure what just happened...honestly...but I know that I won't be buying a vacuum from Kirby. And I think someone should be held accountable for pushing their way into our homes and making us uncomfortable. And if something happens and I get robbed, I will be sure to tell the cops about the pushy Kirby guys.

The Kirby representative (Scottish accent, and in his words... been in the Army) tried to pressure my Father to continue with the vacuum service. I was present at the time and didn't feel this was needed and advised my Father to end the service. This was noted on the form to prove your representative's visit and before he left he confirmed this. However, since I am told by my sister that the same representative has recently visited my Father to service his vacuum (which I was told is 12 months) and has also taken advantage of my Father's disability, and has NOW! ENCOURAGED MY FATHER TO UPGRADE TO A "LIGHTER IN WEIGHT" vacuum. If I do not receive an apology and some means of address, I will take this further and expose this practice.

As soon as the sales team left my house last night -- FINALLY -- after being told repeatedly that I wanted them out -- I said to my husband, "I can't believe I fell for that. I can't believe I let them in." And five minutes later I Googled Kirby Reviews and read account after account of the exact. Same. Thing.

Basically: two personable girls showed up at my house and started in on the business they were trying to get started. I said right away that "I didn't want to buy anything and didn't need any services, but thanks." They said, "Oh, but this is NO pressure to buy anything and we only need fifteen minutes -- we just have to show our boss that we've done ten houses!" One of the girls -- the one who did the talking -- gestured to an area right inside my front door and said, "We would just do this little area right here REALLY quick! That's all we need!"... and I was stupid and said, "Okay, but I have little ones and I'm trying to cook dinner and do laundry." They reassured me AGAIN that it would be in and out. They just needed to grab their boss and they'd be right back.

Fast forward fifteen minutes and they return with two guys -- the boss, who instantly seemed smarmy (and reeked of cigarettes and was WAY pushy -- omg, stop trying to high-five me after every single thing I say) and a much nicer guy wearing a Kirby jacket. And before I know it the boss is gone, calling over his shoulder that hell check back in awhile (what??) and I'm left with the other guy and one of the girls, who plops herself down on my couch and spends the next two hours dully writing notes and smiling faintly every now and then.

YEAH. TWO HOURS. I have no idea how that even happened. Immediately he launches into this vacuum demo, and I'm like, okay, I'll pretend to be impressed because he is SO earnest, but I said RIGHT AWAY, "I am not buying anything from you. At all." But I got the whole demo anyway, and in between running back and forth between my kitchen where my kids were and my living room I was just SO frazzled and distracted. Had I had ANY idea they'd try to stay so long I'd have shut it down immediately, nice or not. But somehow I was standing there as he explained to me how filthy my house was, how crappy a job my vacuum was doing (and of course the proof comes in those little white discs they leave everywhere).

After forty-five minutes I said, "Look, honestly, I'm not even paying ATTENTION at this point. I'm hungry. I want to get my kids ready for bed." And he said, "Oh, no worries! Bring your food in here and relax!" UM, NO. I WANT TO SIT DOWN WITH MY FAMILY AND EAT. I want to read bedtime stories to my kids. Which I told him. Fifteen minutes later the boss returned and I said, "I am not buying anything tonight." He frowned and wrote a bunch of numbers (the great deal and payment plan he can offer me) on one of those stupid white discs. "Yeah," I said, "that's a great deal, sure, but I'm not buying anything tonight. I don't spend that kind of money without thinking about it."

"Unfortunately, I can ONLY offer it to you tonight!" he said. "Well, I'm not buying it, so there you go," I said. "You need to wrap it up. We're done. I want to do laundry, I want to read with my kids, I want to eat my NOW COLD dinner, I want to spend some time in my house alone."

"No sweat, we'll be done in FIVE MINUTES...." and by five, he meant forty. I have never seen someone take so long to pack up and get out. And I can't believe I didn't just throw him out. Well -- because he was very nice, I guess. (The boss, had he stuck around, would for SURE have gotten tossed out. He annoyed me. A lot.) But still, I was obviously done with caring. I was VERY annoyed at all the questions he asked me about how I cleaned every single little thing in my house. ("Uh, how often do you clean your ceilings? What EXACTLY is your process for cleaning your hardwood floors?") And of course they took every opportunity to tell me how dirty everything was because "LOOK, THE LITTLE WHITE DISCS SHOW IT." If I had a Kirby, I could clean everything all the time and NEVER HAVE DIRT ANYWHERE. I COULD CLEAN MY CEILINGS AND MY WALLS WITH THESE TWENTY-FIVE ATTACHMENTS.

The thing is: I actually do keep a very clean house. And even with those dirty white pieces of proof that my vacuum doesn't suck up everything, you know what? If my carpets look, feel, and smell clean to me, then maybe I don't CARE about all that unseen dirt that ONLY THE KIRBY can get. Maybe we're just supposed to live with that.

When they finally left, an hour after I WAS TOTALLY DONE AND TOLD THEM SO, I wanted to cry. Because I felt so disrespected. Because my time obviously meant NOTHING to them. Because they didn't LISTEN to me. Because I ALLOWED them to steal my time with my family, because I gave up eating the dinner I'd cooked, because by the time they left I was exhausted at the thought of the laundry, because my kids were wound up past their bedtime. If the Kirby were the last vacuum on earth, I would rip out my carpets and live with dirt floors. Never. I don't care how awesome they are. I wish I'd read about this door-to-door scam before I ever let them in for their stupid fifteen minutes.

I happened to be walking my dogs and was just walking into my home when a guy in a tie jumps out of a moving van and states how cute my dogs are. I got nervous because I didn't know if he was a rapist or kidnapper or something so I started to hurry to open my door. He stated he was with Kirby and wanted to do a free demonstration. I agreed. Three men proceeded to enter my home which made me very uncomfortable because I have a lot of nice things and it made me think I may have made the wrong choice in letting three unknown men into my home (you live and you learn).

One guy left and two men stayed behind. One guy was said to be a new hire shadowing. The salesman starts the demo and it goes from a 15 minute demo to one hour and thirty minutes. Oh yea mind you this is 6:30 pm on Sunday 1-18-15. 8 black cloths later of baking soda and salt, I was impressed by the vacuum. My mom has a Kirby so I know they are great vacuums. Stupidly, I signed a contract for $2100 and traded my shampooer and vacuum in as down payment. The next morning I came to my senses and realized I could not add another huge bill to my finances so I signed the notice of cancellation and hand delivered it in the office. This is where it gets interesting.

I get to the office only to be questioned why I was choosing to bring back the vacuum, I was making a mistake, blah blah blah. I told them I did not have the money and after I told my mother of the purchase she agreed to let me use hers. They then went on to state her vacuum was not the greatest and to get the best clean I needed to purchase the newer model (way to stand by your products!). I still declined and the guy tells me that someone will contact me to pickup the Kirby. I was given a call the next day to arrange pick up of the Kirby from a different guy who still tried to sell me two Kirby's now at 1200. I still declined and three days later on 1-22-15 the Kirby was back with the company.

When I asked when I would get my products back I was told Sunday 1-25-15. Sunday came and went. I called customer service who stated the dealer legally has 10 business days to return my items in their original condition. The 10th business day would of been 1-30-15. Long story short tonight I just received my shampooer back-- beat up with one wheel barely hanging on, and the vacuum they tried to return WAS NOT EVEN MINE!! The guy even tried to leave in a hurry stating he had demos to do. It was 7 o'clock at night! I called the rep back and told him to come and pick up this vacuum which he stated "well is it good enough to keep?" When I say this vacuum was disgusting I mean it was DISGUSTING!! I told him "HELL NO!"

I don't know who this came from and I don't want this garbage in my home! He hurried up and stated he was turning around and hung up on me. When he came back to pick up the vacuum he proceeded to tell me he did not know where my vacuum was and he didn't know if he could do anything about returning it since this is not protocol. My question to him was "if you legally have to wait until a sale gets past three days of cancellation, why do you not hold the items for safe keeping until then?"

I'm pissed at myself for causing myself undue stress and more financial burden!! I left a stern voice mail on the General Manager's phone as well as a message with Kirby customer service to find out what can be done since it looks like I am going to have to buy all new products. I may have only paid $89.00 for that vacuum and $159.00 for that shampooer but they were awesome! Don't get me wrong the Kirby was a very nice piece of equipment but that price tag is ridiculous. I don't know what can be done but I feel they should have to honor their contract just like I did. If I was to turn in that Kirby beat up and the wheel falling off they would IMMEDIATELY charge it to me!! I hope I have good news at the end of this ordeal!!

I am upset of a recent visit I received from the Kirby crew from Auckland New Zealand, who came to do a free carpet clean at my house in Rotorua. One of their reps visited my partner at our home (while I was at work) stating that they were a carpet cleaning business that were trying to promote their business by having people enter a competition to win a free carpet clean. The next day, I answer a call to be told we won a free carpet clean and that they would be their at 11:30 to do the job the next day. Also stating that we didn't need to move any furniture. We insisted that we move everything so that the job would be done with no stress and to save time.

On arrival, two Members arrived with a Kirby vacuum and, to my surprise, were trying to sell me a machine I knew nothing about. They then told me I had to see the different ways it functioned before I got my carpet cleaned. This took a whole hour just for that. Then I got told they needed a mattress so that I could be shown how it is used for this. I said "no sorry I am uncomfortable with strangers being in my house let alone my room." And only agreed to do this because it was in the lounge and was told it would be a quick job. Then she said she had to and made me feel guilty saying it would be dishonest if she told her boss that she cleaned the mattress but really she didn't. So I ended up letting her demonstrate what the Kirby could do on my mattress. She also asked to use the toilet, and I let her.

Then she told me stories of customers only wanting the free clean and said that was very sad to do, which made me feel more guilty. She also questioned how much I got paid a week and how much money I got from Winz for assistance, and just kept pressuring me. I told her I couldn't afford the Kirby, she said that's fine, but I could see her getting annoyed about it. And then she rang her boss saying I only get paid so much a week, and they still tried to get me to pay the Kirby off at $50 a week knowing very well I have a child etc.

The Kirby is a good machine but to be honest, I found this rude. Very, very rude. I wish I could explain it better but now that I think of it all, I find it utterly disgusting and people shouldn't be treated like that in their own homes!!!! Especially when told they are going to get a free carpet clean and that is it.

Oh yes I will be as accurate as I can. Memory seems to fail when you're under duress with uninvited guest who won't leave. Rocking away on my front porch nice sunny afternoon, van pulls up across street yet some guy is walking behind it after leaving previous neighbors' house. Strolls over to mine with half smile yet a caring concerned look on his face. Could some poor dude in the van show me something so he could get a paycheck? Guess I needed to do a little charity work that day.

Well ok, sure let him. Out pops this nice looking white shirted and tie guy with more energy I've seen in years. All tile and wood floors except the library where I'm organizing things etc. Lots of talking as he empties the box. Says I, "I've got one of those Kirby’s." "Oh since when?" "40 years ago..." Yep they do make good stuff. We go back and forth as he removes the coffee filters. One by one. Gets my permission to use my old one first on the library rug. Sure, why not? I told him up front, ''Not much time, you have to be quick and I don't need one of these. OK?" "OH, will do just a love seat."

Well at least 2 hours later with about 14 white filters in middle of floor dining room, a visit from district manager, request from worker on how to say a rosary, he saw all my statues and crosses I guess. He listened and maybe he will pray on it, who knows. Makes call to somebody about price as I recall vaguely, then I get aggravated when Mr. boss arrives and I say no to him about any purchase. He leaves, worker stays hoping I change mind. I realize I don't have to put up with these pushers, ask what time is it. "OH, I'm going to church and should have left 10 min. ago. I'm leaving now so get your stuff out NOW and get it on porch. I'm locking up and leaving 5 min. ago."

He then knew I meant business and quickly threw everything on the porch and I locked door as he exited. Jumped in my car, as I drove in front of my house, waved to him as he is glancing my way. That was it. It works. Throw their things out the door and tell them you will lock everything up. They will go. I saw how fast he was able to get all that out of the house. Goodbye and be strong. Oh by the way, what got me was when the big boss was bragging to me about how MUCH money he made even though he had to live across the country across from his wife and kid. How sad...

I recently had a very bad interaction with a salesperson from Kirby. I was home with my youngest child and hear a knock at the door. When I answered I was greeted by a young couple named Richard and Chasity. One was wearing a name badge saying who he was and whom he worked for. I asked them, "How can I help you?" and they began to tell me that they worked for a Havelock Cleaning services and were trying to find people to allow them to give a demo to so the girl could get paid just for showing and that I didn't have to buy anything but to tell my friends about the product. I told them that at the moment I did not have time for that. They continued to say how she's new and needed to do this in order to get paid and win a contest and that she only needed one more to go home for the night.

So unfortunately I let this girl into my home to show me a product. When she came inside I noticed a very strong smell of marijuana and alcohol on her. I asked her at that time that I was not interested and that she needed to leave. She started saying that this won't take long and she just needed a few minutes of my time so she can earn her time to get paid as well as win a contest. I told her to leave again and she started telling me how rude I was because I asked her to leave and that if I didn't want to see the product I should have said something at the door. That I was wasting her time when she could be showing someone else who could help her and that I am ungrateful.

I then told her she had 1 minute to get out of my place or I was going to call the cops. She then said that I didn't have to call them because she would be more than happy to get the ** out of my disgusting house. I asked for her employer's name and number and she told me to go ** myself to Google it and it wouldn't matter what I said because her boss wouldn't believe anything I said because she is one of his best employees. After my encounter with this girl, I will never open my door to any person selling anything because that is not how you treat possible new clients. I did Google closest Kirby dealers near me and found two companies which one stated they did not work there that I should try the other one and if I don't get any help to call the main company. Never allow Richard or Chasity into your homes.

He stated he would be like Nicolas Cage and be gone in 60 seconds. His seconds turned into several hours. He kept repeating himself trying to get me to purchase one. I told him I couldn't afford one. He kept pushing and pushing. Then he asked me for food. He kept stating "if you just throw in dinner I'll give you a deal." He kept pushing stating he was in a contest trip to Arizona. I mentioned I needed to leave to go to bible study, he offered to come with us if I would purchase a Kirby. Very unprofessional.

Three hours later after she connected and reconnected all the hoses and attachments, her boss shows up. He was very rude and pushy implying that I live in a dirty house, every house has dust in it. So me and my mom come home to find my father about an hour in with the sales guy from kirby doing his demo. After the demonstration which took about 3 hours total we decide to buy but I am very cautious about things like this so I ask how long we have to return and about late payments. The boss tells me if at anytime we do not want the vacuum or we need to return it just give them a call. Fast forward a month later when we find out that the vacuum is really a hassle to use and it doesn't work any better than any other vacuum especially for the price. We try to return this and they tell us it has been more than 3 days so we cannot. We even tried to say we could not afford to pay for it and the guy laughed and said it is our problem.

At this point I am livid and I tell them I am not going to pay for this vacuum. The guy tells me that is my business and basically they have gotten their money so he doesn't care. Terrible sales people that give you inaccurate information. I wish I would have seen this before although I refuse to pay them when the damn thing doesn't even work after only a month. So I answered an ad on craigslist looking for employees who are outgoing and wanting to make an upwards of 1500 a week. I responded and got an interview with a company called Champion Productions which is an independent seller for Kirby vacuum cleaners (I did not know this at the time). After going in for my interview I was asked a series of questions not gaining any answers as to what I was applying for or what I would be doing. After being lead to the belief that this company had multiple positions and one that would fit my work background I agreed to receiving a phone call about my position opportunity.

When I got a call back I still was not told what it was that I'd be doing but told when we were in the interview "I didn't think you would be a good fit for the position but as the interview went on I decided I wanted to hire you." The next day I went in to orientation (1 of 3 days of which were unpaid) upon which speaking with 2 others that got hired were given the same lame call back from the "company" and they didn't know what it was that we were to be doing for work.

After orientation we were told we were to be going around selling kirby's, I stayed with it cause I'm not the person that gives up on anything. After finish orientation I remained with the company selling 8-9 of these machines at an average price of 1700 dollars (you can get one on eBay or amazon for 400 to 800). As I understood it my commission was to be the selling price minus 1050 divided by 2 and an extra 100 for any doors of sales that I knocked on myself.

After moving over 16000 dollars of product for them I received $736.48 broken down to the hours I worked for them (which was 12+ hours a day). My rate of pay came to a measly $2.27 an hour. After one night that the owners had me and another worker go out on our own for the company, we came home and my co-worker had issues at home that our employer were well aware, and he needed to stay away from home and get his mind right for the next day of work.

The next morning we woke up late and had several missed calls of idle threats from our employer and were fired. They are now claiming missed profits for our late start to the day saying that because they didn't have the van (which they had 2 more vans and they knew exactly where the van was less than 2 miles from the office) and withholding more than half of the last checks they owe us. I made sure to file a complaint with the BBB and am totally outraged at the way they scam their workers, I will continue this until they are justly dealt with. This business is once again called Champion Productions Inc. 3584 Hoffman Road East

Vadnais Heights, MN 55110 phone # 651-308-0007. The owners are Matt and Beth. Please do not allow yourself to be scammed by them as an employee or as a consumer thank you.

She was sweet, so we agreed. She left for a bit, then came back with 2 other people. The older woman was very loud and obnoxiously friendly (called the kids princess and prince), and the young man was quiet and friendly.

For the next 6 hours we had the young guy cleaning the house (he was actually very sweet) and the older woman showing up here and there to assault us with sales attempts. We would've had to be nasty with her to make her leave. I told her I was uncomfortable multiple times, and even went as far as to say my credit is bad (it is), and that I would NOT be taking out any loans for a vacuum. She didn't listen and continued until I caved and let her do a credit check. Thankfully it came back as a no. Immediately when she found out I'd been turned down, she left without so much as a “thank you”, or even “have a nice day”.

Do NOT let them into your home, unless you can easily tell aggressive sales people to leave. You may end up needing to call the police on them, if they're anything like the woman who was in my home. This happened on Jan 22, 2015 in Lacey, WA. I am livid over how I was treated! Thanks to her, I don't care how great the product is. I will NOT be buying a Kirby ever!

The salesman came to the door on Tuesday offering a free carpet cleaning. Obviously I knew there was a catch. I gave them my contact info as I did have concerns that our only four year old carpet was looking more and more like 14 year old carpet. They called back (still no idea it was Kirby) and set up an appointment for Thursday. As it were, my eight year old ended up getting sick that day. I decided that I'd still have them come as he wasn't too ill for me to cancel. When they arrived, I saw all the Kirby gear. My first thought was some four letter words. They were here a long time. Nearly two hours. The first price was a ridiculous $2,199. Even though the vacuum picked up dirt my Dyson was leaving behind, I couldn't justify the extra $1,600! The salesman were pushy yes. But during this time my child's fever rose and I had to check on him every ten minutes or so.

They were patient with me even though I hadn't given any indication that I would buy. Finally, I told them it would be best that they left as I had to take care of my son. Out pops a price of $1,200. So I purchased it. They offered to come back and show me the vacuum more thoroughly but I can figure it out. I also had spinal surgery. Fusion of C4-C7. I have lost a lot of strength and have limited feeling in both hands which makes me much more clumsy than before. The vacuum has a powerdrive so I don't understand how it's harder to maneuver. It definitely heavier, but the handle makes carrying the 17lb weight easier. Blows away every single vacuum I've ever used. Literally lifts the carpet as it's sucking. Lifetime warranty. It's a lot of money and more work than a standard big box store vac but it's already made the carpet look nearly as good as it used to and it feels very soft as it once did as well.

I didn't like the pushy approach but they are selling a vac that's been around over 100 years. If it's that big of a deal to get them out, don't invite them in. Or if they are in, just ask them to leave or call the cops. It's simple. If you're too scared then just keep them out. I thought this was a review of the vacuum cleaner itself. Look at some youtube tests. Then search for some more reviews online or at the old time vacuum repair stores. Kirby is the best in nearly all categories hands down. Not even close.

I realized that even though I made no money from this job, I'd rather let bygones be bygones, and forgive them anyway. I apologize if people are getting bad experiences

    Original Review: Jan. 23, 2015

JD & Associates, 407 Orchard Park, Building 2, Ridgeland, MS 39157 / (601) 487-8086: One day, I was unemployed and looking for a new job. Then I saw a job offer on craigslist about a so-called "rapidly growing company looking for Happy hard working people with positive attitude." It led me to some weird old building with a foul-mouthed old guy repeatedly uttering expletives. Then I saw 11 other people in a classroom sitting where the same old guy was at the front of the board talking about this job.

I had no clue this job would be that we had to sell things. Had I known this, I would never take this job in the first place because I'm an introvert. The Kirby job ad on Craigslist never makes it clear that it's a sales job and that you have to pressure people into selling expensive vacuums. This Kirby distributor, "JD & Associates", is a big SCAM. Here's how. I was promised a $400 a week salary if I did 15 demos a week. Yes, I'm aware that Kirby dealers are independent contractors and must reach the quota to get paid the base salary. At the end of the day, the company controls where and how many demos you do. I found out that 15 demos a week is very difficult to attain and has been done only ONCE by a dealer. They force employees into independent contracts so that they won't be responsible if you don't the required demos.

The veteran people who have been at that company for a while try their best to reel in these clueless new dealers by bragging about how they make "thousand dollar checks" and paid vacations. I also never received a "sign on" bonus that was promised during the 3-day orientation. I sold 4 Kirby’s while working for them, and still received no money for any of them. During the orientation I was told that if I sold a Kirby, I received commission immediately, which was a lie. I went to the distributor's office and he said it takes 2 weeks to receive commission. 2 weeks came... still no money. BIG LIES, and empty promises.

Also, I find it funny that they don't drug test new applicants and it took them only a few hours to accept my application for employment (a regular job may take days or weeks). Kirby distributors will accept anyone that applies, they are DESPERATE. The Field Distributor gets paid big by the Kirby Company for promoting people, and over 90% of the staff quits in the first few days, so why turn people down and be selective?

They cannot afford to be selective. And that's one big why you should close the door on Kirby goons -- you could be letting in a felon and not even know it. I felt very guilty using these sale tactics to sell these overpriced machines, and I decided to leave recently because I do not wish to make a living ripping people off. When a Kirby rep comes into your home, here's what happens: They offer a free detergent in exchange for you to allow them to show a demo, lie to you about them opening up a cleaning store in your area, pull 100 pads of dirt with the Kirby, do a "vac kill," as they call it, to show why your vacuum is inferior to the Kirby, invade your bedroom by testing that machine on your mattress, and shampoo the carpet.

Then they put pressure on you by coming up with a fake sob story about a contest they claim to be one more away when they know they have no chance of winning. The Kirby itself is no scam; it's really an amazing product. It's just the distributor and their sales goons that's the scam. If you really want a Kirby, go buy one for $400-$800 from eBay or Amazon.

Actually, the distributors buy the Kirby’s for that same price from the Kirby Company. Then the Kirby sales reps jack up the price to $2935 to pay for the MSRP price and then to the boss, and for the commission to put in their pocket for their own personal use. Even when customers buy the Kirby from these sleazeballs and they call them to change their mind about the sale, most of the time the sleazeballs do not answer. I've seen them refuse to answer calls to customers. Because if they return the Kirby, these sleazeballs don't get paid. If you got thousands of dollars to spend, go fund your own trip instead of funding these Kirby people.

Kirby distributors, including JD & Associates and all the other ones across the United States, scam customers and their own employees. Take it from a former Kirby employee -- Don't pay extra for their commission, don't overpay for this product, and keep these scam artists away from your home! Screw you, **! And a BIG screw you, **! All of you are scam artists that should be ashamed of themselves.

I had a young man knock at my door today. He does the same spiel as the other reviewers are saying and walks right in like he's known us for years! He's with his boss who leaves the young man to demonstrate for over 2 hours (way too long but we have nothing on so we let him entertain us) all the while telling him we don't want to buy because we are moving to another country. So I'm sitting there enjoying him cleaning everything. Meanwhile he is also trying to "befriend" my partner and "relate" to my 7-yr-old, smoking my partner's cigarettes between asking me to give the Kirby a go on my couch, also asking if we drink or do drugs? Really! (we don't to his shock). He then proceeds to tell us about using the Kirby hose as weapon, continues on about rolling blunts for his brother.

I'm in utter shock by now. All I'm thinking at this time is 'Please shampoo my carpets and go on your merry way'. Lol. Anyway he proceeds to try sell the vacuum multiple times to us lowering the price over the phone with his "boss". After he realises we aren't budging and will not buy the vacuum, he gets a little stroppy says it's okay if we can't afford it (little did he know we recently come into a lot of money lol). He then realises by now we don't really care about his attitude problem. He starts to tell us how all his fast talking usually gets people to fall in his trap and buy the Kirby and said he fooled someone into buying 2! At over $4000 (aus).

By then I couldn't wait for this kid to leave and when he did he didn't say goodbye or anything he just jumped into his white van with the rest of the Kirby cult members. Haha, I feel for elderly people. I can see how they get talked into buying the Kirbys. :/ I WILL TELL everyone I know how bad and rude these people are! DO NOT LET THEM INTO YOUR HOMES. I'm going to start out this review by saying: yes, it was my fault I purchased the vacuum. And, yes, it was my fault I signed the contract. I know I don't have much basis to complain after all of that, but I still want everyone to be aware of how this company works. I have a fairly serious spinal cord injury from wrecking my car in 2010. I cannot use my left hand, left leg, and my balance is very affected from the accident. I do everything I can to remain independent. This means only buying products that I can easily use.

In October, a man came to my door stating that they were doing free carpet cleanings for military families (my husband is currently deployed). I agreed, knowing that they would, most likely, have something they were selling. But I figured I could get them to leave by just refusing and thanking them after my carpet was clean. I was wrong. I could not.

The salesman and his associate refused to leave my home until I signed a contract. After 2+ hours, I just wanted them to leave me alone. I figured it was just a lesson learned and that I would just use my new (ridiculously expensive) vacuum... and never let another salesperson into my home for any circumstance. I'd take my experience and learn from it. Well, because of my disability, I cannot use the vacuum. Because of its shape, size, and weight distribution, cleaning my house is so complicated and exhausting, I basically have to hire someone to come and do it for me.

Now, on their website, Kirby claims: "Any consumer who, at the time of purchasing a Kirby cleaning system, is at least sixty seven (67) years old or has a disability (regardless of age) which restricts or prevents the consumer’s use of the Kirby system, may cancel and rescind the purchase transaction up to nine (9) months after the date of purchase." I contacted customer service and spoke to Monica (who was very helpful). She said that since I do not have a disability number, I could send in a doctor's note stating why I could not use the Kirby. I collected doctor's notes from 2 different doctors who have treated me, both stating why I could not use the vacuum.

I sent them in, along with a copy of my contract, as Monica instructed. Nearly 2 months later, I was contacted by the distributor of my Kirby, who stated that "legally" he couldn't help me. Because he didn't want to open a "whole can of worms." I told him I didn't even care if I was reimbursed for the money I had already spent on the vacuum. I just didn't want to continue to pay for a vacuum I couldn't use. Still, nothing. He offered to bring me a refurbished vacuum but that I would still be accountable to paying off my contract. I declined.

Again, I know that signing the contract was my fault. And I know that I got myself into the situation by assuming I could work a product without first testing it. Be especially wary of these guys. The vacuum is nice, but not for the price you are going to pay. Also, they (except Monica, who was very helpful) are extremely hard to work with. If Kirby is not going to honor what they state on their website, they should take the information down. That or they should be very clear about what they will and won't do for their disabled customer.

I've had Kirby in the past, as did my mom and her mom. I'm 50. So at least I was familiar with K and knew that it worked. I had a similar in-home demonstration with a "cleaning product" in 2002 and traded in my old Kirby Generation for a Tristar, which I was happy with. A few years ago, in addition to the Tristar, I bought a Miele, which I love 10x better than the Tristar. So when I was called a couple weeks ago about a new company thinking of setting up shop in my area, they wanted to come give me a free carpet shampoo demo, I said ok. The typical young guy and young girl show up and immediately I realize it's Kirby again.

Knowing I will NOT trade my Miele, nor buy a Kirby (even though I was mostly satisfied with it, tho heavy and cumbersome) I straight out tell them this. They start the demo with the meter and the white filter sheets, over areas that I had just vacuumed with my Miele. How do they get the machines to pick up so much stuff after you've just vacuumed? This is how I was sold on the Tristar back in 2002 so there's a way they do this and I would love to know how. Pisses me off. Anyhow, like you all have said, 45 mins to an hour turned into 4-5 hours and I dug in my heels and kept saying no.

But I was seriously going to have my carpets shampooed (and we have a no-shoe policy, so the carpets are cleaner than most but I'm OCD about floors) so I listened to the sales pitch first, from the guy, who was super nice by the way, while the young woman shampooed one of the bedrooms. She was sweet as well, and did a great job with the shampoo, of a room that I didn't even think needed it. We'll see how long it stays looking that way, stating that by reading other's remarks. Anyhow, I think I had a better experience than most, though there was definitely some pressure. I had already told them I was a former Kirby owner, as was my mom, but was, again happy with my Miele.

To make a longer story shorter, $3495 for one, became $3495 for two, then we settled on $1200 for one, with a check. I was told not to tell anyone what I paid for it. I think $1200 was less than what I paid for the Kirby Gen 3 or 6 or whatever it was. I will say I had to sit her down and demonstrate to me how to work the shampoo attachments again. I explained that with my first Kirby, I had only used the shampooer once but could never remember how it all worked. I think I've got it now, but if I don't use the shampooer soon, I'm likely to forget. Because I'm familiar with Kirby, I already know the attachments are somewhat of a pain in the **, but if it gets more junk out, I'm willing to sacrifice the space, the heaviness, and walking a bit more for the attachments.

As it is, my Miele canister has it all on-board and I love that. For those that are brand new to Kirby, it can be a little daunting, I'm sure. I didn't part with either of my two vacuum cleaners, by the way. So now at this point, I do wish all these individual Kirby companies would be more truthful. I'm pretty sure they have no intent on setting up an office in my town. No way. I pretty much knew that anyhow. I'm also pretty certain that when they made their first phone had they told me they were Kirby, I would have never scheduled a "carpet shampooing" so that kind of pisses me off.

I hate reading about their high pressure sales, and taking advantage of elderly folks. Argh. But, Consumer Reports gives them a good rating, a Recommend, but not a best buy because of the price. I'm holding out if I'll say I'd buy another Kirby till I see how the shampoo job looks in a couple weeks in a house with a no-shoe policy. CR gave MUCH cheaper vacuums, much higher ratings and they were a third the price. So who knows. I also know that if I need the Kirby serviced, the chances of me getting help from the sales guy and gal are slim to none, and I will end up taking it to my Miele place in the city where I work. I thought of all these things before I bought. I knew mostly what I was in store for. I hope I'm not sorry.

They only needed one more to be finished for the day. I stood firm and sent them away but my granddaughters wanted to let them clean the carpet as it really needed it. So they ran out and called them to come back. This older man came back and dropped the young guy and girl off but came in long enough to say there would be no pressure they only wanted good word of mouth for the Kirby vacuum and that the young guy was trying to help support his Mom and Dad. Well about 2 hours later I knew there was going to be no carpet cleaning. This was a full blown demonstration. He kept vacuuming different surfaces using these white discs to capture the dirt and lay out so he could prove to his manager that he actually did something. He vacuumed small areas of the walls, the tops of shelfs, curtains, the kitchen floor and even went into one of the girls rooms to vacuum their mattress. I wanted to say, "When are you going to shampoo the carpet", but I was still too polite to do so.

I did decide that this was not worth it and I no longer wanted them to shampooed the carpet. I just wanted them to leave. I said that they needed to wrap this up as we had to go to the store. After the second time I said this he finally called his manager and that was when the manager came back and started the high pressure sales and the price of the vacuum went from $3495.00 down to 1300.00 and of course it would only cost me my Hoover and $50.00 per month. I asked what the interest rate was and he said it was 20 something but something like 90 days same as cash. I remained strong and kept saying that I could not take on any additional debt. They shamed me for having a Kohls payment so I could buy clothes for the girls instead of spending that money on this vacuum and I was shamed for not worrying about the dust mites and dead skin cells in the mattress and I was shamed for not helping the young guy win a trip, but I remained strong. Anyway after 3 1/2 hours they finally packed up and left. They never even vacuumed one whole room but less shampoo a carpet. Nor did I get the bottle of Tide. He did finally clean an little square about 2 x 3 and it did not do a very good job.

He said that after several shampoos it would look better. They would have gotten further with me if they had just cleaned the carpet as promised, did a good job, did a small demonstration and then started the sales pitch. I will never let another salesman into my house ever again unless it is someone I have called to come talk to me.

Bought this vacuum with my husband standing over me saying no, no, no. It is too heavy for me to use. It has been in the closet since I purchased it. Now my has one - she somehow convinced me to co-sign with the finance company. She has now refused to make the payments so I now have 2 useless Kirby vacuum cleaners. Do not fall for the sales pitch. Wish I had listened to my husband.

I bought a kirby because my mom had one when I was growing up and it worked great. Guess they let the quality go down since got a good reputation. I think they sold me a refurbished vacuum and said it was new. The thing doesn't pick up. The zipper on the bag broke within two weeks. I had to change belts all the time. Gave up on kirby and went back to my old Eureka that works better and didn't cost $1,000.

I had to do a search for days to get new bags. They have the sorriest customer service yet!! I really am looking forward to another Kirby salesman knocking on my door.

I feel like you should know what you're buying from Kirby. They review the machine and show how easy or "difficult" in most people's eyes it is to use. When the (sometimes pushy I'll agree) salesman leaves you have up to 3 days to change your mind about the cleaner. But do not diminish Kirby's reputation for the sales pitch. Some are more professional than others. That being said, my whole family has used Kirbys. They clean well, they're versatile, and filter the air you breathe. I would recommend this vacuum. The Kirby Sentria 2 has been my 3rd purchase from the company which I've only replaced because I feel more satisfied with a newer machine. It is not hard at all to assemble though it takes more effort than your everyday Shark, Bissell, or Dyson; you have much more options and tools to clean with. I mean does your Dyson shampoo the floor or spray paint your shutters? This vacuum isn't for everyone. So if you're elder and can barely handle your groceries please do not purchase this cleaner then complain when you can't use it.

When it comes to using the machine, everyone will have different results (i.e. Shampooing accessory) but if you follow Kirby's instructions and maintain your machine I'm certain you'll have better results. The only thing that I don't agree with about the Kirby company is how everyone gets a different price. I feel they should have a standard price for all customers. Loyal customers should be given a discount if they're feeling generous. Fact: Kirbys have better airflow and filtration than any store-bought vacuum. Period. Fact: Even with heavy usage a Kirby will outlast your everyday plastic vacuum because it's predominately metal (explaining the weight). A little more effort and added weight. But it does the job right so I'm ok going the extra mile.

A lady came from a van to my door and asked if she could demonstrate something. I did not know what she was wanting to demonstrate. She went to the van and brought back a large box and insisted she come inside my home to assemble it. She went back and got a guy from the van. He came in and kept trying to sell me the product. I told him several times that I was not buying it because I had just bought a new vacuum. He would not leave my home after being told to several times. My husband came home and told him to get out now. He slowly packed the product up and went and stood in my drive way for a while. Do not talk to them and do not let them in your home. They will not leave until you get hateful with them. They are very pushy.

After a 2-hour sales pitch and my husband liking what he saw, we unfortunately bought this very large heavy pain of a vacuum! Nothing about this vacuum is simple or easy. Everything the sales ladies told us was a LIE!! I had a shark vacuum that was light and very easy-to-use. I really liked it. But being that I had just vacuumed before they came and did their demo, they made it look like it wasn't doing a good enough job and look how much their Kirby picked up. Was told the bag should last at least 6 months to a year. It didn't last a month. I hate having to take it apart just to use the attachments. It takes me forever to clean up now. A job that took an hour tops now takes 3 to 4 hrs! The carpet cleaning attachment is a joke.

My carpets looked good right after but within a couple of days it looked worse than it did before. It got none of the stains out and it took overnight to dry NOT 45 minutes to an hour like in their sales pitch. This was a scam. This vacuum cleaner is DEFINITELY NOT WORTH $100 LET ALONE $1500. Did their financing and am stuck making payments for the next 3 years. I am kicking myself for giving my vacuum cleaner and carpet cleaner to them for a discount on this pile of garbage. DO NOT BUY!!! Slam the door as soon as they say they're selling a Kirby!!! Wishing I had.

I purchased a kirby vacuum about 1 year ago. I paid $1,600 for it and to this day I am just sick over paying for something I hate. It is extremely heavy and noisy. Everything about it is complicated. I had a quality vacuum before this and traded it toward the Kirby and still paid $1,600. The sales people obviously have tricks to make it look so easy and cleaner. That is absolutely not true! Please, anyone reading this do NOT buy this product.

My husband had just passed away. The account should not be in his name. Anyway the salesman kept jumping up and kissing me on the jaw when he was happy. He made a sale from a widow.

The Kirby vacuum? What would I say about it? They are for sure only a little bit better than the average or worse vacuums out there on the market. For sure, they could not compete with the newer models of the reputed companies, such as Dyson, Hoover, etc, that you can grab them easily at Walmart, Costco, and Amazon for the better deals and return policies. However, if you are a big fan of the Kirby. Do the world a favor and do not buy them from a company or distributor called EGA Marketing. The company's owner Adrian Medina and his associates will fondle with your private times while employing harassing tactics to force you into purchase with no return nor guarantees. The machine is about $150-$200 in cost and they are about to sell you for the high 3 digits. Do yourself and your family a favor, ask the salesmen who sent them here and avoid the E - G - A at all costs. Sincerely, Previous employee.

A Kirby salesman from New Jersey Easy Vac, 1416 Stuyvesant Ave. Union, NJ 07083 908-686-0087 and 201-892-2067 came to my front door to sell me at the time what I thought was a brand new Kirby Sentria. I was sold before he came to my front door because I grew up using Kirby vacs and they work fabulous for me. I happily upgraded my old Kirby G-6 for the new Kirby Sentria. The salesman took my old Kirby G-6, wrote into the bill of sales that I have a lifetime maintenance agreement on all parts of my new Kirby Sentria. I paid him $1999.00 after what he told me a discount of $701.00 savings for trading in my old Kirby G-6. I was assured by the salesman that a "lifetime maintenance" on the new Kirby Sentria is something new that Kirby does for lifetime customers like myself.

Six months into using my new Kirby Sentria, it broke. It would not move automatically and I could not push it. I took it to the N.J. Easy Vac Kirby Shop. He fixed it and three months later, my new Kirby Sentria broke again. It would not start. I took it back and he fixed it. After a year of having my new Kirby Sentria, it broke for the third time. The handle came out and it would not automatically move so I went back to the shop. It was closed and out of business with no notice left where to find the shop owner. Even the telephone numbers I was given was disconnected. I call my town hall and to learn that this guy was a SCAM.

I took my Kirby Sentria to another shop that fix Kirbys and after telling the new Kirby shop owner my story, I was told that the salesman sold me a refurbish Kirby Sentria vacuum for the price of a brand new Kirby Sentria vacuum. This machine can't be fixed. I am so dissatisfied with Kirby. I refuse to buy another Kirby from any door to door salesperson. I called Kirby and their customer service will not deal with customers like myself because they only sell to distributors. Well, I am through buying Kirby Vacuum Cleaners!
