The home is great. We've had a few little problems but nothing really major. We had one little leak behind the refrigerator and they fixed that. We got four cracks in the sheetrock and we're on a list to get them to come out and fix that. Other than those, everything was good. The sales rep that work there, Mike, was great and if it wasn't for him, we wouldn't have dealt with them at all.
Thank you so much for reaching out and sharing your experience, Michael! We really appreciate your support and recommending the team you worked with.

We looked at the model on the 14th of April then on the 15th, we went back and started the process, and everything went smoothly. They didn't have the unit on the lot, so we ended up having it ordered. Clayton Homes told us about when it would come in, and they were spot-on. They kept us informed too, so we were very pleased.
The people that moved the home in busted my waterline, and when they hauled the sand in, they covered it all up. So, the plumber wasn't gonna come and do it till we found where they broke it and capped it off. Brandon, the guy from Clayton Homes, got on his knees helping to find this line. He went above and beyond the call of duty. He and David, the service guy for the Clayton Homes in Greenville, are top-notch. The ones that did the underpinning cracked one of the panels when they were putting it there where the water faucet is on the outside. David got another piece, came and put it in. He is absolutely amazing, and whatever Clayton Homes needs to do to keep him, they better do it.
We absolutely love the home and I can't think of anything that I would improve on, other than making sure the master bedroom closet door opens from the outside. It was very odd because it gave you so little space. When you walked in, the clothes rack was right there at your head, so you had to be very careful. That was a mess-up. I don't think that Clayton Homes would have had that one door opening on the inside and all the closet doors opening from the outside. We hired a contractor and they came in and redid the door to where it opened on the outside. Other than that, I love the master tub and the Wi-Fi thermostat. The house is very well insulated too. My electric bill is a third of what it was with my old home. I've recommended Clayton Homes completely. I posted on Facebook my experience with them, and everybody that's been in this home has loved it. They would never know walking in that it was a mobile home.
Teresa, thank you so much for recommending us! We are so happy that you love your home, and that you had a wonderful experience with the team you worked with.

Clayton Homes had the best deals and I liked the local office that we worked with. They were friendly. However, we were held up for a little bit because of the size of the septic tank we wanted. They had to collect some money on half that tank and we had to wait all over again. But I’m enjoying my new Clayton home. I love Clayton Homes I would go with them again. I just bought another home with them.
Thank you for your continued support, Shannon! We're so happy to hear that you're loving your new home!

We had two consultants. One was the main contractor that set up the home and that was Danny. Then we had Beth as the manager of the property. The quality of the home is pretty good other than a few spots where some nails are sticking up where the two pieces come together and Clayton is not fixing it. They told us that that it's going to be.
Jason, thank you for sharing your buying experience with Clayton Homes. We strive to provide a world-class experience and we will loop in the retail team you worked with regarding the flooring and will follow up with you as soon as possible.

I love my Clayton home. It's comfortable, spacious and modern. The only thing is that the scalding mechanisms on my shower faucet and my bathtub, only allow me to have lukewarm water. I've asked them repeatedly to remove them because I only get a lukewarm shower no matter how high my water heater is. I don't know why they haven't come in and taken them off yet when I've asked. I'm dissatisfied with that. But the local office that I worked with was great. They did what they said they were gonna do. So, I'm satisfied with that.
Thank you for sharing your feedback with us, Sheanetta!

From start to finish, everything went pretty good with Clayton. Lance, the guy I worked with was great. Anything I needed or wanted, he helped me get and the process went pretty quickly. I started in February and I moved in in July. I loved the home. But I ended up selling it because of the traffic there on Jones Bridge Road. We've literally had to play nature sounds at night just to be able to sleep. It was so loud. I didn't realize that that road had gotten so busy. 20 years ago, when I ran that route as a teenager, it wasn't like that. It used to be a back road. But now, it's more of almost a highway. It's crazy. My fiancée asked if we could sell the place. I told her I'd call and see. I realized I could pay it off for $1,000 more than what I owed, so I jumped all over it. Two days later, I had it up for sale, and in no time, we sold it.
Ryan, thank you so much for reaching out and sharing your experience with us. We're glad you had a great purchase process.

I could not have had a more pleasurable experience. If there is any sort of a training class that can be taught to everybody else at Clayton, it needs to be taught by Shelby and Carl over at Clayton Valdosta. Horrible build. During walk through they stated they do not build plumb level or square and it shows the construction is the worst I have ever seen. I highly recommend you read the reviews and do not buy a Clayton home.
Hi Justen, thank you for reaching out and sharing your concerns with Clayton Homes. We certainly understand your frustrations. Our records indicate you purchased from an independent retailer not owned by Clayton Homes. We would recommend you reach out to your retailer regarding any warranty issues, and the setup is the dealer's responsibility and Clayton would not be involved.

I went to Clayton and had a very bad experience the first time and I swore I would not go back. The little man that was there met me and my friend on the front porch. That was back when it was cold a year ago. He said, “We're taking by appointments only and I got an appointment in five minutes.” I said, “Oh, that's okay. We got a couple questions we'd like to ask you and then we'll go.” And he said, “Okay.” And I said, “Can we maybe step in? Because it's kind of cold.” “Yeah, but I got an appointment in five minutes.” I said, “It’s fine. It’s fine. We’ll be gone.” So, I left. Told my friend, “A bird in hand. I won't be back.” Anyway, I went back and asked Michael, who was the young man, and he said, “He's no longer with us.” And I said, “Well, good because I can understand why.”
Then I got Candice. She was who I bought my home from. She was very good but after the sale, she was not. And instead of pacifying me when I called her, she was, “Don't call me. Call Nikki. She is in charge of that.” “Well, I don't know who's in charge of what. Why couldn’t you just pass the message along since I got you on the phone?” I even said to her, “Candice, you’ve got to have service after the sale.” Nikki was fabulous. Billy, who has nothing whatsoever to do with me, was fabulous. If I needed anything, and I asked him can he do it, he would.
I had a little issue with my heating and air conditioner unit outside. The air conditioner man got COVID and was down for some time. But when they put my trailer in here on my land, he told me, “You got air but you don't have any heat, but we'll get yours fixed.” It was October, and I complained. I called people. “I need my air. I need my heat fixed.” I finally got him out here to fix it and I said, “Did you remember to bring something to put under that air conditioner? ‘Cause you didn't do that before.” And he said, “No, I got a man but I forgot about it.” “Okay. When you think about it, do it.” At some point, he came out and did it and I never even knew he did it until a friend of mine said, “Hey, you got your pan under your air conditioner.”
Blake, the young man who if I got an issue and he would come out and fix it, has been out here a couple of times because the drawers in my kitchen have broken. And they're not as good a quality as I would like for them to be. Other than that, I'm good. I would recommend Clayton.

The whole process with Clayton was excellent. They answered all of our questions. They responded quickly, never acted like we were asking too many questions. So we were happy with that. However, we put the down in February and we did not get moved in until September. But it was beyond their control. We had excessive rain this last year and we had so much flooding in this area plus we were also waiting on AEP, the electric utility company. We also had COVID this last year. So far, we're happy with the quality. We still have a few issues popping up. But when they do, they seem to address them for us. Their sales associate, Stephanie, has been phenomenal. The service contractors that they send out seem to care about the work they do. I would recommend Clayton.

Clayton Homes was the friendliest, most courteous, and willing to help me out. I wanted a big open plan, open living room, and dining room area, and it took me nearly two years to find the house I wanted, and with the carpet. They told me they had one coming in at about four weeks. I looked at it in August. The whole transaction was over in less than a month. It was paid and I had everything. I’d recommend Clayton Homes. They did what they said and I was very satisfied.

The quality of the Clayton home is good. However, we got it last June and it still hasn't been fixed. We're still waiting for them to re-mud the ceiling where the ceiling stuff cracked. The biggest annoyance I've had is the only time the manufacturer sends supplies to fix things is when they buy a new trailer. So, we keep ending up waiting several months between us pointing out that there's a problem and it getting fixed. Like one of the light fixtures, the neck that holds the globe onto the light fixture, we've been waiting for them to get us a set of those since we got through.
We keep telling them, “Just mail us the part. We can put it in. It's not that big of a deal. It's just the little neck that holds the globe up. It's not like a cut wire and it's in my bathroom. So, I'm having to lay there in a nice bathtub trying to relax with bright light bulbs in my house." We had no problems with the people doing the paperwork to get it bought. The final walkthrough and maintenance stuff, that we had problems with. If it weren't for COVID, it probably wouldn't be half as much trouble as we're having. I am happy with the trailer, but this is my first house to purchase for myself and I would have liked it to be a bit a little bit more polished.

The home buying process with Clayton was great. We had a great salesman. He told us exactly what to expect and what we would see with our home. And all of that has been on point. Anytime we're feeling like we're not being heard, we contact him and he jumps on it and has been calling us back. They seemed more willing to help. They were definitely on board with staying with us through the process, from the purchase to the setup.
I'm impressed with the quality of the build. But they delivered our home the last week in June and we were not able to move in until August the 15th because they couldn't get anyone out here to put it together. The only reason they did was because we were having our furniture delivered that day. But even after they did that, we still have to have them keep coming over and it was just the process of the contractors. Right now, our roof, our shingles are popping up and we're still waiting for someone to call us to come and check it out. But I would recommend Clayton Homes.
Thank you for the feedback, Martha!

The sales rep of Clayton was fantastic. He didn't oversell. He didn't over pitch. He gave me what I needed to know. Then any questions I ever had, if he couldn't answer it, he helped me answer it. He was just a great guy all the way around. The contractors were great, other than the fact that the people that we had to come out and do our septic. We had a little bit of a rut in the backyard, and they have extra dirt. I asked the guy, “If it's extra, what are you going to do with it?” He said, “We'll just pile it up and it'll be a mound.” I was like, “I don’t want a mound. You mind pushing it to the back?” He said, “No. We'll set it right there where that little rut is.” I said, “That sounds perfect to me.” What ended up, the dirt that they suggested moving to prevent a mountain from forming in the front yard, that dirt should have stayed there because the rain washed in almost two feet around the entire septic thing. It's very clear. I can see the actual tank itself.
We were told by the maintenance people that they would get somebody back out there and they were going to address the issue. It just so happened to be the maintenance guy is no longer employed with Clayton Homes. He stated that he would bring people back out there to refill the dirt. If they didn't, he would. I have already called back one time to Clayton Homes. We also had an AC unit issue, a recall on a part on the AC unit inside, which caused flooding in the insulation up under the house and caused water damage, and nobody has gotten back with me on that.
There were a few little nicks like that that still need to be addressed. Our bathroom countertop where the sink’s at is separated from the wall, and then the lining for the shower has separated from the wall, and it's produced a bubble. It has slowly started to crumble to an end because our year mark is starting to come up and they know that we're under that year warranty that they put us under. Everything that was in their control, they did a phenomenal job at. But despite what was out of their control or everything that was out of their control, it just went all the way. I'm not saying that they aren't attempting to try to get the problem resolved. It's just that no one's given me any feedback and I called a couple of months ago.
Thank you for the feedback, Hunter! We are going to send you a private response to gather more information to try and help get you some answers!

For the most part, our experience with the home buying process at Clayton has been great. There are always a few glitches, but that's fine. We're not finished yet. We had some things that needed to be repaired and we need to be reimbursed for, one for the heating and one has to do with plumbing. I'm just waiting for the bills to come through. I talked to the main office and she told me to have a description of what was wrong and have an affirmation as to the fact that I paid the bill and then send it to them, and then they'll review it. Everything was very clear. The fella with who we first bought the property was still learning the trade, though. He was very inexperienced and he's got a lot to improve upon. But everybody else was wonderful, extremely pleasant and well-qualified. The quality was excellent for everybody that came out to work here. We were very satisfied.

I don't like that we have to use a key to lock it from the outside.
Other than that, I don’t have a problem. The setup guys do everything perfect. We had an issue with some neighborhood dogs that wouldn't get out of the way and they were so patient and so understanding. Also, the guys have been back a couple of times to fix little things and they're right there. They do it and they clean up. Brad, a guy from maintenance, is beyond awesome. The quality of home is excellent. We got our first power bill and it was $100. Energy-efficient is top-notch. Then the only thing that we requested was the flooring. We didn't want any carpet as we got a pet. We got the hardwood flooring or the vinyl flooring throughout the whole house and we were really happy that Clayton did that. It's low maintenance. Even though things didn't start out the best and we had some other issues with our home, but Scott and Stephanie took the time to personally come out here and see what was wrong and going on with things to get them handled. They are in the process of getting things taken care of for us to make us happy. We really appreciate them making all the efforts to make things right for us and helping us by answering other questions we have on other things. We would recommend Clayton Homes in Harrisonburg. Just expect issues and make sure you let them know of everything and always talk to the manager as well not just the project manager or sales rep. We didn't do that. If we did then it probably wouldn't have gotten so out of hand with some issues.
Original Review: Dec. 25, 2021
The lack of communication in the Harrisonburg office is ridiculous. When setting up things to get fixed it's either you do it when they want to, or you have to wait extra time. We've been in our home almost a month and still can't use two of our outlets in our bedroom. They don't do what they say when the first guys came to make our water hotter, they tried to fix it, but they couldn't, but before they even came, we were told they would have an electrician on standby they didn't, then they sent their service guy out he couldn't fix it either that's been like 2 weeks ago now.
Our sales rep. didn't tell them how we wanted our porches, so they did them how they wanted they left debris in our yard from the porches and from the other construction guys they left a crappy ladder, pallets, extra wood boards, bolts, rope, caulking and some kind of pipe cement. They try and act as though they care but they don't really. We were told we could move in by the end of October by our project manager but then she quit, and it wasn't even done to where we could move in one was saying one thing and the others were saying something else they would go weeks without doing anything if they did work they would work maybe 2 hours a day never making use of the whole day of the good weather when we did have it.
The day we closed on our loan we were told that once they put the house on our property, they would keep it locked until we were given the keys, but it was unlocked for months one night, we came home from work at 3am and the door was left open once the project manager quit, we told the new one that the door hasn't been locked the whole time. We haven't had a good experience with Clayton Homes Harrisonburg at all if we knew now then we wouldn't have bought from them we would have taken our chance with just building from scratch. Even though we keep having issues they keep pushing give us a 10 and they haven't even fixed the problems we have.
They splashed clay up on our foundation and left it, Our Vinyl siding keeps popping out, They didn't put nails in one of our deck boards and it falls down, They didn't have us sign some papers when they needed to be then rushed to sign them, When we signed one document, we had to resign it because they wrote the wrong serial number in, Our Sales Rep he would give us answers he didn't even know before looking it up giving us the wrong information about things,
Also, we wanted bigger porches, but he didn't want to find out more information for us just told us that we don't really want to do that because it would delay the move in time and they would have to get in changed on the permit, just made it seem like it was an inconvenience for him. Some stuff has been fixed but stuff still has yet to be fixed. The lack of respect of our home from the workers was crazy we got two trash bags full of trash they left all over from the workers.
We do not recommend Clayton Homes Harrisonburg to anyone based on our experience knowing we are stuck dealing with these people is very disappointing. We know that nothing is perfect by any means but the stuff we are dealing with from a company that's been in business as long as they have, they should be able to limit a lot of the issues we have before we even moved it. I don't understand how our house passed inspection with not all the outlets working and the bathroom water not even getting warm. Sorry so scattered but this is just some of our experience we hope it helps the next person who is looking for a home. Also, we didn't get to move in until Dec.

The sales manager, Josh, called his manufacturer while I was there at Clayton Homes because I was a fire victim, to figure out when they would be able to expedite in building my house and getting it delivered as soon as possible. Nobody else would and I was told me I had to wait in line. But with Clayton, the process went great. I ordered the house in March and because I had some work to do in the property, we scheduled putting a slot there mid-April. Then it got delivered to the property on May 6th. I like the quality of the home. They moved it up to where I was at and there wasn’t really much inside structural damage like drywall, which is normal. But it held up pretty well overall. They came in, fixed a couple of places, then the guys scheduled to come back out in March to fine tune and address everything up. Now, that everything’s settled. All in all, Clayton was easy to deal with and they were very accommodating of my situation.

Clayton Homes was better for us and what we wanted, long-term. Every interaction that we had was very good. But once we got through the whole process stuff, there was a lack of communication and that was very frustrating. The timeframe that we did it was when COVID was still barely starting. So a lot of things were shut down or backed up for whatever reason. I've talked to other people who have gone through Clayton Homes as well and they said that's probably one of the main things that doesn't give them a 10 out of 10 is that communication there. Towards the middle, towards the end, there's no communication at all. I sent a bunch of emails. And I understand, I wasn't trying to be annoying, or I wasn't trying to be that girl. But even if nothing was done, maybe an update once a week would have been nice. Other than that, when we had to face-to-face encounters, those were all good.
I married into a handyman family. So my father-in-law does construction, and he does all kinds of things. And my husband knows how to do a lot of things. There are a couple changes that we are going to do to the home just because they see that and they want a little more of a better quality, or they could have done it this way or the other way. Other than that, it's a good starter home. It just sucked that we waited almost a year to get into our house. We know that COVID had to do a big part of it. But it is what it is. We're in our home and we're happy, and that is all that matters now.

During the process, Clayton's reps were great. But once my trailer got set up, it was like they didn't want to help me anymore. And they kept pushing me off to somebody else. They also ended up having to fire one guy because he messed up too much stuff trying to fix in my trailer. We called and they said they'd send another guy out. Then he saw all the work that the previous guy did and ended up having to take pictures and sent them in to let them know how much he ended up messing up versus actually fixing. There was a lot of trim work that had to be done and there were a few pieces of drywall that had to be replaced. I also had a bedroom door had to be completely replaced and a dishwasher had to be fixed, which turned out was an easy fix. When the second guy came out, he had it fixed in two seconds while first guy ended up making it worse. But the issues that I had eventually got taken care of and so far, everything's great.

Everybody who walks in loves this house. It's efficient on utilities. I had locked in $85 electric bill for August. But I didn't like that Clayton suspended the drain pipe with zip ties. It was just doing it halfway because eventually, they're gonna break. I’m not to crawl under there and fix it. The guy that did the setting up had to travel a long ways to come over here. It was overpriced and it cost me $16,000. I had to furnish the dirt for the pad. His son worked with him, but everything his son did, I've had to go back and repair. He needs to watch him a little closer and train him a little better.
It looked like they put the septic together with silicone, and where they pour bleach in, it leaks out the side into the soil. Bleach eats silicone. I talked to a plumber and he told me what kind of glue to use on it. This will be the third time I’ll pull it up and try to fix it. But overall, the house is great. Clayton came out and fixed everything we asked them to. Cesar the repairman is really good. I like him. He shows up on time. He is meticulous and friendly. The wrong size was ordered for the window that was gonna get replaced. It was a good thing that the guy that came out checked it before he took the window out of the house. So he had to reorder it. He was really good too.

Clayton Homes used to be Patriot Home in the same place. We had purchased a home there before. When we went there looking for a home, Jay was the salesman that met us. And from his abilities and smiling and helping us, being helpful, that made us purchase from them. The Farmhouse Breeze that we purchased was the one that my husband loved because of the open floor plan that it had. And the only thing that we regret is that we should’ve just kept the white cabinets. We didn't know that the cabinet would be covered with gray. If we knew that it would be covered with paper, we would’ve just kept the white cabinets. The cabinets are peeling already. And they said there's nothing that they can do about it.
The cabinets are made with sheetrock. They're not made with the wood. The home is up to date, but the cabinets are not. And with the air, we have the vents in the ceiling, and the bathrooms, they still got to come back out and reach out to see what's wrong with that, because one side is not getting warm. But, other than that, everything's okay.

There were a few things here and there with the home that we had some issues with, but overall, it's good. One thing was the closets weren’t finished. The drywall was exposed and the trim wasn’t done. It was like it was left that way. It was in every closet. We contacted Clayton. They came out and finished that up. And we were told that they don't finish the closets. We found that odd, because you could stick your hand between the door jambs and the drywall. When you stick your whole hand between there, living on property, you never know if there is something that would crawl up in between. Everything should be sealed. They could think about finishing those closets. Other than that, their customer service is great.

The house has really nice appliances in it. The bathrooms and the rooms are very big. I've never seen a single wide mobile home this big, so I fell in love with it the first time, and then they told us we were the first person that ever stayed in this one. But I got confused during the process. Clayton referred us to the land and told me that it was a good buy. They told me to purchase the land first and that this land has everything that I needed for it to be approved for me to move on that land.
I purchased this land because I trusted their advice. Then next thing I know, I gotta come out my pocket with $9,000 to get a septic tank or my trailer can’t be moved in. But they told me that this land had everything on it. This part threw me for a loop. The manager tried to come back and do damage control but at the end, she couldn't do damage control because we already signed the paperwork. But I kept going with the process. When we were going over the price, I didn't like that I had to figure it out myself. They told me it was gonna be an interest rate. But they never said to us when they were breaking down the prices. But the overall experience was good.

I walked through Clayton Homes for 8 to 10 years before I ever started doing anything. My son bought a house there, and I decided to do the same as well. We knew what we wanted exactly because we'd been studying it for years. I went with a modular just for the ease of getting it done quickly. They did a couple of things that kind of left me a little bit wrong. As a matter of fact, I do have an issue with my linoleum in my kitchen where they must have gouged it or something at the factory. They cut a section out, put it back in, and it's failing already. The drawer systems don’t attach those in the back very well, and all it takes is one screw to solve the problem. I wish I’ve done it myself.
Then on one drawer, they drilled a hole where the cabinet knob is. It's off about three inches. I don't see how nobody ever caught that. I didn’t caught it when I first bought it. It’s no big deal. It’s just I bought the Norris thinking that I was getting the Porsche of mobile homes. Other than that, I love my house. I brag on this house. It turned out to be a really nice home.

We met with the people from the Clayton Homes closest to us. They showed us some coaches on their lot and we picked one out what we liked. They sent us floor plans and we picked all the finishes and went back and forth. Things went very smoothly. They did a great job. Beginning to closing was pretty quick. There was a delay in getting the coaches out because they were behind in the manufacturing process. For the most part, things have been good. We bought two coaches at the same time for the park. In one of them, the shower door was missing the little wheels on the bottom. My manager called to try and get them, and she finally gave up. I think they just picked them up at Home Depot.
The other problem is there was a cabinet that when they installed the door frame, the drawer in the bathroom hit the door bearing. So, we had to fix that by just trimming the side of the drawer in order for the door to open. Other than those two, the quality was as I expected. We did our own flooring. We picked some specific features. We picked different light fixtures. It's really nice to be able to walk in and actually see the coach in the size that you wanted so there aren’t surprises. I do think it matters having the showroom and having the ability to walk in and look, open the drawers, and look at the cabinets and see the finishes. That was really helpful. I would recommend anybody buying one to go find the model they like and look at it in person.

We got Clayton's Island Breeze model which was the base model one for what we were planning on. For what we wanted it, it's really good. It seemed to be priced good too. We ended up doing the foundation on our own and we built our own porches and stuff in it. We signed all the final paperwork in Augusta and we scheduled to have the home moved. It arrived at the end of March. It was then another week or two setting it up. It was a little bit of time from when we signed to when we got the home but I understand that. Materials last year were hard to get and everyone was behind on everything. The only thing that we had issues with was they gave us the blueprint to do the foundation work on our own and it didn't have all the measurements on it that we needed. But as soon as I got back in contact with them, they fixed it and sent a new one out right away.
Thank you for sharing this, Layton! We're so happy that any concerns that arose were taken care of. We truly value and appreciate your feedback.

Everything was fantastic. But the build could have been a little better. When Clayton pulled the trailer in, they were shaking it and they twisted one side of my trailer. Nothing works that good on that side. The heating and our ducts are messed up. They didn't do a lot of stuff that they should have done. They didn't line my trailer up exactly right. And when you go inside, everything sort of catty-cornered, where you walk through the archway, the kitchen, the trailer needs to go half an inch to the back, and the other side needs to go to the front. And my walls are crooked. The whole outside of my house is bent and twisted.
They didn't put my home like they should have. I’m disabled I wanted it closer to the ground. And because they put the trailer in the wrong place, they said it was my fault. So I had to give up something to get my trailer put where it's supposed to be. They put the footers down. And the trailer was in the wrong place so I had to give up my concrete block that goes under my trailer for it to be able to be flanked. I got five steps and a porch. And it's hard when you're disabled.
There are little things that need to be fixed. They are supposed to come out on the 14th to do it. There was supposed to be no carpet in the trailer and we got a thing full of carpet. Also, it wouldn't hurt to have them shielding in the cabinets. My linoleum has welts in it. They are gonna come and redo it. And they got to replace 15 panels for the wall. Because they had to pull the carpet up and they busted it. It's supposed to be an all one-piece linoleum, but now I got two-piece. The kitchen and the living room is separate and it's not one piece. I asked them if they could fix that, and they said, “No. We can't fix it now. That's all we could do with it.” It made me mad. Three different colors of trims in the trailer. Also, I haven't got my mirror up in the small bathroom.

Our rep was fantastic. She answered emails, text messages and phone calls. She even went outside the realm of her job responsibilities and helped me get ahold of different people from our terrible mortgage company so we could find out what was going on. It was amazing with Clayton. They were there every step of the way for us and answered all our questions. We weren't 100% sure what we wanted when we went to them but they presented us with the perfect option and did everything we wanted within our budget. I've met several people that have been looking into building homes and I always recommend Clayton, specifically the one we worked with in Glendale. There are some things that we've noticed in the home that aren't that great of a quality but it's because it's builder grade materials.

Everything went pretty smoothly. The sales staff was helpful. There was some stuff that would have been nice, though, if we were able to upgrade some amenities to the house. But we're unable to do much. One of the things that were weird was that we didn't get to pick the tile for the shower in the master bathroom. Clayton just put some random tile on it. But overall, we're satisfied with our purchase.
We were having an issue with the second bath’s shower drain and the techs had to make three trips out there to figure out the issue and fix it. During the third time, they had to cut Sheetrock, open up the wall behind the tub, and do something to the drain line. Then they had to repair the Sheetrock. Clayton Homes was recommended by a friend. At first, the salesman was very helpful. But after the fact that he got paid, he did not hardly reach out. It was hard to get anything done and hard to get any help. Every time I needed something, I had to make a phone call. Magically, within two or three days, something would happen. But we would wait weeks and weeks before anything happened. We have struggled with water leaks in several areas of the house to the point where it's ruined our vents, drywall and insulation. We've also had several issues with stuffing under the flooring. That's very irritating. Whenever you get holes because of the nails, then you got to worry that if something ever spills there, then it could go through. It could cause issues later on down the road.

We went to the Clayton Homes office and did everything in one day. It was very simple. Lance, the representative we had, was awesome. We even referred our in-laws, and they also bought. Our overall buying experience with Lance was good. He let us look at all the options they had on site and we found a few that we really liked, but we wanted to combine some things into one. We wanted a farmhouse feel, and he said, “Actually, there's another model,” like the one we picked. He said, “Well, it comes in a farmhouse model.”
Lance found an even better model for what we were looking for and we were amazed that somebody listened to us because a lot of times, reps just pushed for a sale. The home is very warm and inviting, and cute inside. We love the farmhouse look, the beams, and everything in it, and the farm doors. Overall, we love the home, but there are things that we could see that they cut to go the cheaper route compared to what we were used to in our Florida home.

Clayton Homes' reputation is good. My dad bought a house from them about 10 years ago and had a good experience. I wanted a double-wide but didn't want a too expensive one. We wanted a basic build with a few little upgrades that I can DIY myself if I wanted to. Clayton Homes had some really nice ones on the lot but out of the price range. They didn't have a whole lot on the lot because of covid but they were helpful. We also used the website a lot to get ideas.
Everything went pretty good. A couple of the contractors were a little flaky for them, but they were clean and tried to get to the bottom of it every time. I called Susan at the Waco location and she expedited everything or got in contact with them to make sure they did their job. When we moved in, we had a few little issues but they would come out and touch it up for us here and there. There are a few things like the cabinets that were bare. They let everything open under the cabinets. But overall, it wasn't anything tremendously bad about it at all. I'm happy.

My experience hasn’t been too great. We ended up not getting into our house until months after we were projected to be in there. Clayton Homes was supposed to pay the first mortgage payment and they had told us they did. But I got a call from Vanderbilt saying that the payment was never even made and they've never heard anything from Clayton Homes. Clayton Homes ended up making the payment after another month went by but when I was calling them about that, the salesperson manager, Maria, was rude with me on the phone and hung up on me. I called our home consultant, James, about what had happened. You could literally hear her snatch the phone from him, said, “Didn't I just speak with you,” and hung up on me again. I emailed the main guy who works there about the whole situation but nothing was resolved.
But we’re enjoying our home. I really love it. We've just had a few problems with water pressure. They're supposed to come back and check, but no one's been over there checking it. Our only other problem is our barn door. The guy had came over and said he fixed it, but it's still heavily slides. If you go to open the left side, it’ll slide right back open.

We liked a home at Clayton Homes here in Bowling Green, but they would not give a price. We went to Glasgow, found the same one and purchased it. We only wanted to take out half the money last year then the rest of the money this year so that we wouldn't have quite as many taxes to pay. They worked with us and held the mobile home till we got the rest of our money out to purchase it. At the Clayton Homes in Glasgow, we knew we weren't getting central heat and air and that it came with two sets of steps. But the one here in Bowling Green, you didn't know when you left there what anything was, especially what the home would cost.
We gave 93,000 for this one and had we spent 150 or more, we would have gotten better quality. The mobile home that I bought in '87 had more quality work than this one we bought this year. This one we bought has the arched raised ceiling in the living room and kitchen. But for the other rooms, it drops down. It's seven-foot tall ceilings in the other parts of the house. I couldn't figure out why the ceilings dropped to seven feet instead of eight feet. This one also has the paneling instead of the sheetrock. But I was really impressed with the way they poured the footers to sit the mobile home so it should never come off level.

The home-buying process at Clayton itself went smoothly. The construction process is another story. We were told it would be done by the end of February. But we didn't get into it until the end of April. We understood that stuff was taking longer than normal to get done. But when they were doing the construction, there was no communication within the company itself. They would always go through me to see if something was done. We felt like we were running the whole thing. There was a lot of stuff that could have just been done better. They put the septic tank in before the water was put in, and it ended up floating up to the surface. The communication really needs to be worked on between the home base and the construction people.
Also, the construction guy went through the water company down here when they were putting in the water to use their backhoe and we ended up getting a bill for that. We made a deal with the guy that did it. We'd pay half, and then he said he would pay the other half. But as far as we know, they still haven't paid it. They're getting ready to start charging us for that 400, plus interest.

I would send an email and he would get back to me on the same day. Working with Clayton was kind of a relief. When we went with them, we didn't know that they did everything as far as getting everything scheduled to get the well drilled and the foundation done. We didn't have to do anything. They pretty much took care of everything and it was nice that we didn't have the headache of having to schedule those kinds of things.
We like the quality of the build so far. We have a stone driveway and we wanted to wrap it around the side of the house. That wasn't in the whole original bid but they put that in for us. The process with Clayton Homes was as messed up as it could be. Everybody did the blame game on COVID and we got ready to go sign. Then the lawyer was not given the documentation. So, we didn't sign. Then it got postponed. Then they blamed COVID again. The loan that we had already signed the papers for, they said they was not given out construction loans. Mine was way different. Nobody had really dealt with what I wanted or not what I wanted, but what they had to do to make it happen. We then found somebody that would do the loan. It wasn't a credit issue on my end. It was everybody getting their thing together. We finally come to have it. The guy, Brad with SMC Finance, was never given anything or notified that the loan needed to be ready. So, we got postponed again. It was a never ending circle.
We finally got all the ducks in a row. I called everybody. I stayed on top of it because I kinda got fed up, but it took a year and six months to do it. From the time we found the first piece of paper to get moved in was exactly 18 months. The quality of the house is not what I thought, too. They have come out multiple times for things. They raised up my floor four inches high and bubbled. So, when they filled them back, they sanded them, and there was water damage everywhere. There was a Carrier unit installed in the house and my duct lines underneath the house was full of water. So, they had to rip them out and redo them. The unit was producing water and it created the floor to swell. But we're not done with all the water damage that's been done.
I had a pipe that had a hole in it in the wall after we moved in, and the sheetrock started bubbling out and mold started growing. They had come out and fixed the pipe. The well went dry in two weeks, but that is what it is. We thought we had a well. They didn't make a well. We had to pay extra for the well, for the depth that they went and it didn't even last two weeks.
The floor is the main thing. One wall didn't even meet the floor. It was two or three quarter inches high. It didn't even touch the floor. So the service guy, Adam, came out and did his part. The salesman did his job, too. I feel like he did what he was supposed to do and try to go above and beyond and help. His name's Jack. I give credit where it's due. Other than that, it was a runaround.

Our last representative when we did the walkthrough was gonna help us get all the repairs done, any of the details that needed to get done after we move in but I haven't heard any communication from them. Sorry communication is what they have.
There hasn't anything been going on with the repairs. I'm still waiting for the repairs. We're going on seven months that I've been in the house. I've made my payments on time. There were pictures. There was a list that got sent on to both parties, me and the staff. I have to chase them and call them every day. If not, I don't hear anything from them. I stopped calling them because I got tired of it. I haven’t heard anything back from them, not even a text message, which I have their number.
The last time they came, they said that they gotta do some touch-ups on the drywalls. They did. They were gonna come and do the finishing on the tub which needed to get repaired. They just came and started but they didn’t finish it. There are still touches they have to get done all over the house. There’s still caulking they have to get done all over the house. The trimming on the doors, on the outside of the house with the trimming as well. I got cabinets that are still broken on the pieces. My floor sinks down in some areas. I also need an exhaust fan for the main bathroom because I have no exhaust fans to release any of that vapor from my hot shower. My walls are getting steamed up from the hot shower. We’re already starting to clean them up because we're gonna get mildew and mold. I have all these issues and nobody's addressed them.

We have been working with Clayton Homes since February 21 and it is now the end of October. Initially everything was sounding great. We were told all we would have to put down is a $1000 deposit, that we would be able to use land that was being gifted to us as our down payment, and all other costs would be included in our mortgage. One of the first issues we had was they informed us we would be required to use one of their lenders (which have ridiculous interest rates) because of our land not having road frontage, which it does. Initially we were told we would not have any problems with land or financing.
Another issue, after we were told we would only have to put $1000 deposit, they requested more money from us, an additional $700 in order to complete perk testing. We provided this amount. Now we are being ask to pay an additional $3000+/- in order to pay for the land to be surveyed, which they are telling us will cost over $3500. They said unless we are able to provide them with the money, they will not be able to move forward. Our home has already been ordered and is due to be off the production line on December 17th, but we won't be able to have it placed on our land because of all these issues they are claiming. We are very frustrated with this entire process, especially as we have a baby due in May. It is stress we do not need. I would never recommend Clayton Homes to anyone.
Hi Erin, thanks for reaching out and sharing these concerns. We want our customers to have an exceptional experience with us, and we understand your frustrations. Normally, the initial deposit will cover a perk test. However, in this instance, the land didn't perk so the county asked that we further prep the land. Additional fees were needed to cover this. The initial survey was incorrect and a new survey is required. Due to unforeseen circumstances, we had to find a different surveyor. This caused additional fees for the new survey. The retail location had no way of knowing the land would need additional work. The lender will not close until this is completed.

From application to closing with Clayton, it was okay. It took a while though, as far as the application 'cause the seller had gone and sold it because I didn't have the rest of the money to put down for it. Then the second one that I had gotten, I had to come up with a little more change to get to him. But after that, in total, it was a whole year before I was even able to move in. The stripping that's in the middle of the foil where they put the house together is starting to come off and several other fixtures in the house are starting to fall off, too. I wasn't satisfied.

Our home buying experience with Clayton Homes was challenging. It was during the COVID, and none of us have control over that. My worst experience with the whole thing is the lack of communication. Ryan was our home consultant. He made a few mistakes in not annotating stuff that we had discussed with him at length and decided on, but he's a pretty good guy.
Around September 13th, my brother-in-law and I drove to Anderson and looked around some houses, and we decided on the Southern Charm. I like the house a lot. It's spacious. A lot of things aren’t out in time and settled, but the house is beautiful. My biggest complaint about the house is about my fireplace on the wrong wall. So, that really disturbs me terribly and I found that out in the yard when I was told it had arrived. Ryan owned up to it that he remembered us discussing it with him that we wanted it on the further wall and he forgot to write it down. Michael, the manager, was not happy with him at the time at all. But it would have taken another seven months to get the house done if it got changed. While we were sitting there making decisions as to what we wanted and where we wanted it, he went and showed us a model. That was how we made the decision to where we would put it.
While we were making these decisions about the fireplace, wood, paint and all the to-dos, we were discussing the floor. With no bad reasons, we just chose not to go with the Clayton floor, so we can pick our own and there would be no seams. They did tell me I would have to install the flooring and buy my own if I wanted it. But afterwards, when it came to putting the tile in the house, I was told that I have to pay this contractor for the baseboards when that was never mentioned that I've ever had to pay for that. So, that was another lack of communication. It was a several thousand dollars out of my pocket because of that misunderstanding. It came to six thousand and something dollars. Then Michael helped me out. He switched numbers. He offset some of that, but the lack of communication cost me the price of the contractor and for the baseboards. So, I wasn't too jiggy about that experience.
This new guy that they brought in, Greg, is supposed to be taking Michael's place in a couple years, and he's a prior building inspector. He didn't come out to my project where the house was being built. They weren't here for my final inspection. I didn't pass the final inspection. Some contractors that were here doing another project pitched in and helped us, and it got passed on the following Monday.
We asked Michael would he come up here. He wouldn't show up. So, we showed up to see Ryan for a scheduled appointment to pick up my title and start the insurance. We arrived, and Ryan was a no-show. Michael pretty much just escorted us out the door in our impression because we were shocked as to why he was standing us outside and didn't want us in the lobby. We weren't happy I did yell at Michael one time on a message saying, “Are you ever gonna come out here because all these things were going wrong?” He never showed up. Overall, I love my house. I just have a metal roof and it really hinders the cell phone service. So, not that it's a bad thing but it's good to know for the customer. I have recommended them to a sister of mine who's moved in, and she's real jazzed about doing it as well.

I had Austin over at Clayton here in Abilene. Everything went hiccup-smooth. We didn't have any issues. Everything was straightforward. My parents had also bought a house from them last summer, and it was the same experience. They had no hiccups and everything went fairly smoothly. I put my down payment on my house in November and it came in the first week of February. I got the rest of the down payment on it that second week of February. I was all set up and I moved in April. But I was waiting on my lease of my apartment to be up as well. Everything's been good. The only thing, I had some issues with my floor, but they already fixed all that. Even when I had a problem, it was diligently fixed and settled.

We bought the home as it was. We started having problems with the quality and I keep blaming the dealers and the salesman. The home itself appeared to be a three-year-old home. The house is a lot model and with people coming in and out of it that much, the front door is jacked up badly. Right now, we got trim falling off and all kinds of little knick-knacks. It was only glued on. I'm a carpenter, so I see things that other people won't. There is not a straight door jamb in the house. It looks like a Friday afternoon home where they just threw it together so they could go home.
I can fix the problem if need be. If we let somebody come in and do that, they could be there for a week. They were supposed to bring a door but it's been touch and go with the weather around here right now. When they showed up, it was raining like crazy so they couldn't install the door. Overall, the house is nice and pretty and we're happy with it. It's just a lot of little piddly stuff and a little bit of money to get it right. I wished I had looked a little closer when we first walked through. That aside, the people at the Clayton really treated us well. It was a great experience and I've been recommending them. I'll send some people over there to look at their other homes and I'll continue to do that.

The process went smoothly and was rather quick. The home is very comfortable. I would change some things if I were gonna design it myself but it's pretty well-built and well-insulated. However, I’ve had some warranty work but they're not all done yet. The range in the hood didn't work. The fan and the lights were dead. It took them quite a while to get another range hood here and it wasn’t the right one, so it didn't fit in the space. They had to order parts in the factory and they're still working on it. It’s been kind of a long process because of extenuating circumstances. I can’t fault Clayton for that particularly but their corporate level could be a little speedier in what they do.

Clayton Homes worked with us on the downpayment as best as they possibly could. The process was easy and very organized. Kristen was amazing. Rachel helped as well, but Kristen was the main person on the job. She answered most of every question that I had during the home buying process. The after sales experience is what I would like to see improved. I still have issues that I need resolved with the house and I've still yet to hear anything. For the outlets on my island bar that do not work, I've already had somebody come out and try to replace the receptacles, and I don't know if it's a wiring issue. Also, the light switch in my master bedroom was put in wrong. It's way too small. It's just fallen back into the wall and the wires are showing. If Clayton Homes could get on the money and be on the ball with that, it would be 100% 5s all the way through.

He was really good to have on our side. The home buying process took a little while, but it was all worth it. The Clayton Homes out here where we bought ours was really up on things if we have a problem. I was in the look for a double wide home. I went to multiple lots and Clayton Homes had the overall best reviews and a lot of qualities I was looking for in a home. With Clayton Homes, the process was perfect. They stepped in when I was made to jump through a whole bunch of hoops for the title. The biggest thing I would make better however is hire more qualified maintenance people to come in and help set the home up. Some of these guys were not there for the quality. They were there to rush it. If they took their time doing it right the first time, then it wouldn't have caused so many callbacks that I've had to do.
Underneath our kitchen sink, the plumbing was horribly done to where I had to make them come out and fix it three different times. My husband had to break it down to the guy how to fix it properly. One of the guys who put the paneling on my outside cranked it all the way down and didn't say anything. I had to get them to come out and replace all that. One of the panels on one of the walls was not cut right so it kept popping out completely.

Our home is what we expected and it seems to be working out pretty well for the price. We're happy. My advice to Clayton Homes is to stay focused on who the customer is and what they want. Don't try to upsell or down-sell them. Just listen. Some other places that we went, I felt like I was on a used car lot and I had a used car salesman trying to finagle us into buying something. The salesmen seemed really fake.
When we went to Clayton, Jerry, one of the salesmen that became our permanent salesman, was real nice. He worked with us, and we were right in kind of the middle of the lower prices being skyrocketed. Every time we called him, he answered our questions. We probably called him 50 times over the course of everything. He transferred to Florida a couple months afterwards but he still called us and followed up. Doing the due diligence was great. We also have a lady here named Margo and she's always been extremely friendly for anything like repairs. She does not say, “We can't do that,” or “That's your problem.” I would keep doing those things because it builds a level of loyalty. I've been able to talk positively about Clayton Homes. I've talked to probably two or three people and they want to sit down, have lunch with me and talk to me about the whole process of getting a lot. It sparked some interest.

My first call to a Clayton Homes site, as a repeat customer at that, was awful. I gather Clayton hasn't done many site reviews lately. Their employee (s) was incredibly rude to me as a possible customers. The man I spoke with kept saying - not once or twice, but several times - "I don't care what you do, it isn't my problem". At one point, I got so irritated, I reminded HIM, that "I" am the one buying and he needs to listen. I don't care if he cares, he isn't paying my bills or sleeping with me. Pretty blunt, but hard cold fact.
I believe Clayton Homes needs to take a good hard long look at who they employ. This man represents your company and you are basically paying him to deter customers. I was willing to drive the 50+ miles to visit, but not after that call. He is LOSING Clayton money because THIS customer is walking away or will not deal with him in the future. Period.

I needed to get a mobile home quickly. Clayton had the best quality one in my favorite layout that I could buy right then. The whole purpose of my buying a mobile home was to move close to my parents to help take care of my dad. Customer service was nice but I had a strange situation because my salesperson passed away. It was a little confusing right and at that time, I hadn't closed quite yet. Another thing was I was disappointed when I wanted to move in. They put the mobile home on the property and it was ready to go. But I had to wait three days for someone to clean it. I got in and it was not cleaned to my standard. They didn’t quite do it as thoroughly as I would have.
I had a few minor issues with the home as well and a couple of things that I haven't contacted Clayton about. One issue was with the little knob of the door to my bathroom. I turned it one day and it fell off. I need to get a list of these issues together and contact Clayton. I bought the extended warranty so I'm not really worried about it. Other than that, Clayton is a good company. They worked with me and tried really hard to get me in this type of home quickly. I got a good quality home too.

We got our home in a hurry because we put a rather large down payment on it and we paid over half of it in cash. Clayton ordered the home in December. They had this particular one slated as a model for their lot and they just replaced ours with our name. We did the things we wanted here. The process was okay. It's just that with the COVID, I couldn't get some of the stuff I wanted. There was a door left off and even after they told me that they couldn't provide me with the gas stove that I wanted, they put in an electric one but they left it hooked up for gas. For the first week I was here, I couldn't use my stove. There were a lot of odd little things like that.
There are some things I would change. I'm still waiting for Clayton to call me because my floors in the bathroom and in the kitchen are wavey or wobbly. They got humps in them. I haven't heard from anybody about when they are going to come out and fix this. It's a big thing with my floors being like that. In the back bedroom, there's a trim piece in the ceiling to mark where the two halves separate. When they did that, they should have put one on the other side of the room to make it look uniform. With the barn door in the back, they didn't put the same trim in the ceiling and the bedroom that they did in the living room.

It was just the first banker they had was rough. But after we got through that, it was great. We put pocket doors in the house and we also put an extra shower in the half bath. For the most part, the quality of the house is good, but there's a lot of little details that I'm not impressed with as far as the Norris factory. Like on the counter, when they cut out for the sink, they chipped the counter, and then tried to cover it up with putty. But you can see the chips where they installed the kitchen sink. Clayton Homes was good for the most part. They did not touch base as much as they should have, but it may have been because of our main worker. It was the first house he sold. I ended up speaking with the guy above him a little bit more than I did him. They told us that the whole process could take about three months and that was pretty much what they were aiming for. But it ended up taking us over a year to actually getting our house. But I loved all the workers up there. They were super professional and really nice.
We got the paperwork and we were talking with the guy about it. But it was a different home that was listed on the paperwork. He said, "Well, I don't really know how that happened, but do you want to see what it looks like and see..." So we looked at it and it was a bigger, nicer home. We love it. So they worked with us on it and made sure that the price was right. It was a weird coincidence but we ended up with a bigger and nicer home. It's beautiful. There's so much space in here. We're still trying to figure out how to utilize all this space because it's really big. We ended up moving my mother-in-law in with us too and she's very comfortable with us. Then we have three dogs and we have more than enough room. We also have four chickens that live outside and all of us are peachy keen. We're super happy.

My daughter bought a Clayton home years ago and it seemed to be a pretty decent home. She recommended that maybe we would look around and see what they had and when we decided to purchase from them, I got sticker shock. I didn't dream that the mobile homes had increased the amount that they had. But once I got adjusted to the sticker price and I found that Vanderbilt was willing to finance anything within reason, we went from there. The rep we had went out of his way to talk to us and settled anything that needed to be settled. If something was not put together correctly and needed to be adjusted, he had somebody on it right away. It turned out just about everything had to be adjusted because after moving a mobile home, everything was pushed in in the wrong place. Maybe it was the illusion that reset doors and windows. But rather than wait two or three weeks, he had them the same day or the next day.
Right now, we are still doing custom things to the home. We needed more cabinet space, so bought some cabinets and got them in. One other thing was our bathrooms. We weren't satisfied with the mirrors and the light was reflected in the wrong place. But we put in new medicine cabinets in each bathroom. Then, we wanted to hang pictures and it was difficult because they always want to come loose and bolts want to come out. But we figured if the wall was untaggable, we were able to put things in the walls and the pictures would stay there long if we want them.
Aside from that, our home is not going to repair very easy. If something breaks, it's going to have to be replaced. Our floor looks like tile, but it's linoleum. It’s too easy to scratch the top surface and ours got scratched the time when they were moving stuff in and out when we moved in. And since it is linoleum, it’s one thing and you got to fix all of it. If I had to do it all over again, I would say go with a house and don't get a trailer. The lady that lives out here had seen them when they brought the mobile home on to the property. She said that they pushed it in such a manner that it looked like it was going to fall completely apart. But it lived through it and nothing was broken.
All in all, the home is about as good as you can expect in a mobile home. Plus, Clayton has done everything they could do to make things better for us and people could depend on the fact that they are going to sell them a good living space. A mobile home’s got a lot going for it, too. It's easy to clean, to keep warm, and to keep cool in the summer.

Clayton Homes set my home incorrectly. They placed it 100 feet away from desired location that we discussed and developed blueprints for. When confronted they claimed they set it correctly and we never confirmed exact location only approximate location. Instead they estimated their math incorrectly.
Hi Daniel, thank you for reaching out and making us aware of your feedback. We reached out to the retail location, and they informed us that their team will schedule a site meeting with you to review the placement of the Home as the Site Prep has been down to the Signed off Plot Plan and paperwork approved.
They will be reaching out to you soon, and we will follow up with you and our retail location regarding updates. We appreciate your time.

My experience purchasing from Clayton was really customer-friendly and quick. We had Michelle, the manager there, helping us, and she walked us through the trailers, the purchasing options, and financing. We bought the display model they had at the park there and I love it.

We originally wanted to get a house built and I went and got a loan through a mortgage company. But they didn't do a land and home package, so I went through Clayton instead and did their land and home package. Clayton had two houses at the Columbia location that we really liked and we decided to go with the one we went with because they told us that if they had the house on their lot, the furniture would come with it. But we ended up not getting the furniture because somebody that was already more into the process got that house on the lot. Clayton had to order us another one.
I had an issue with the subcontractor that did the clearing of my property. I bought nine acres. I only wanted to clear an acre, put the house in and leave the rest wooded. I was given a couple of options as far as what to do with the trees that they cut down. Originally, I wanted to put them on the edge of the property because there's a clearing on both sides of my property. I told the subcontractor to cut a path straight out to the clearing and set the trees on the edge. Instead of doing that, they cut 100 to 200 feet and dropped the trees right there, and let them sit.
The grading of the property was shoddy too. Every time it rained, it would be like a little pond with about two to three feet of water standing from where my well is to the front porch. It was the same way in the backyard. I had to get a guy to come out and regrade everything. I had him put gravel in the front to help keep the rain from piling up. That was the only bad thing that happened. Other than that, Clayton was great as far as showing us the houses and going through everything.
When buying a home, ask a lot of questions and be on site. Clayton was a great company to work with. They even helped me out in getting a little bit more money out of their lender as far as the loan amount was. I probably wouldn't have been able to go through with them because I didn't get approved originally for as much as I thought I was going to. Clayton told me a couple of things that I needed to do that could increase that limit and I was able to get that done to be able to move forward with them.
Dylon, we appreciate you reaching out and sharing your feedback with us! We thrive on customer input such as this to better our processes.

I was very satisfied with Clayton's process. Everything went really well and their rep explained everything. The home is very nice and I like it. It has three bedrooms and two baths. It has a sliding back door and I put my dining room table there. I had Clayton take the tub out of the master bathroom because it was too big and I couldn't get in or out of it. They did that. The only thing is I wish they had put some cabinets in there because I had to buy different stuff to put the linen in.

We had a perfectly great time with Clayton Homes. Everything went smoothly as it could during the COVID stuff and they kept me informed with everything. We love the space. It's pretty large and everybody's got a bedroom. We're very happy with the home. It's in Mars Hill which is in my hometown, so we love the area we live in. Clayton's reps been very good about stuff, too.
There's a year period when they can come and fix things but I don't want to call and nitpick about stuff but there is some separation that I missed and they missed. Or maybe it just settled because the house has been there. But I'm not going to make a big deal about it because it's really not a big deal to me. However, if somebody came back out after three or six months, they could take a look at some of the things that tend to go wrong when you put a modular house on a trailer, move it, then set it on the house with the crane. I also had a problem with the gutters. But they came out and fixed them the next week. I had a problem with the plumbing as well, and they came out and fixed it the next week.

I bought a modular back in 2015 from Clayton. A local guy is the manager there and he did everything that was asked. After the home was set up, there were a few things they had to come back and fix. But it was very easy dealing with them. Then, I sold that home and I bought another one. My recent experience with them was great, too. I paid cash, so the process was very easy and we love the home. We got a double wide. It's the new Soho and the big thing that we were wanting was the sheetrock walls and sheetrock ceiling. Those were what we got in this home, so we are very happy with it. Clayton was honest in everything we did. They also came and fixed everything.

I went to multiple home places and Clayton was the friendliest. I really liked my sales rep, Kayla. She was very friendly and she helped me with any problems I had with the whole process. I had a lot of problems with my county. It was right around COVID and I had to hold the variants and a lot of other things. Kayla did whatever she could to make sure the process went as smoothly as possible. We bought the house straight off the lot and it's about 30 grand, which is pretty good. It's the Bayside house and it's 30 by 68 with four bedrooms and two baths.

Clayton deserves to be credited with running a business very well. It's a big purchase for most people. I built homes before and that didn't always have good feelings. On the whole, I had a very good working relationship with Clayton. I'm an older guy and grew up in a time and place where people shook hands and said what they would do for you and they did it. That is not necessarily the case anymore. But that is the case that I found with Clayton Homes. Everything I was told that would be done has been done and done well, and an incredibly good sales representative that followed up on things and made sure things got done. For somebody that doesn't have experience with building, who was trying to take care of those things, that was very helpful.
We're enjoying the home well. We've had a few little things that we needed Clayton to come back and take care of, and all I did was send a text message and they contacted me within 24 hours to come and take care of them. The things we've had have been very minor. We had an issue we thought with the water heater. As it turned out, the home was equipped with scald preventers and we just weren't getting much warm water. So, they came in, took care of that issue for us and we now have nice warm baths and showers. I was incredibly impressed with the efficiency. They had broken it down to the people that set the home up. Those people were amazing. They came in there and it was like a well-run football team that came and knew exactly what needed to be done, how to do it, and got it done in a day.

Clayton helped us in whatever way they could and by connecting with them, we have a home to live in. It was an excellent deal, so much so that we even referred somebody to them and they went and bought one like ours.

A lot of people were telling us that Clayton was doing really good. We just rolled up, walked in and said, "Let's see what happens." When we sat down and we talked with them, they showed us that it was very possible for us with our income, even though our credit was crap, we would be able to get a nice decent home to take care of our entire family. The home buying process was something very new for me and my wife. We've never bought a home. We've never own land. This was completely 100% new to us. Our sales rep was really great at trying to balance life, home, work, and also help us ease our woes and balance, keep us in the loop knowing what's going on, what's holding us up and what's making this happen. He made us feel like we were important to him, and he took care of us very well.
We love the home. My wife and I are like, “This is our forever spot. This is our forever home.” I really liked the team over at Clayton. They really took care of us and got what we needed and was able to kind of go the extra mile. That's what we really liked. There was a point in time where the electric company was holding everything up where we couldn't move in yet. Our rep said, "Hey, I know we normally don't do it this way, but I know you guys need to move, you guys need to move out. Here's the key. Go ahead and move in and move your stuff in. But without power, without the AC set up, we can't physically have you guys live there yet." So, he helped us be able to move our stuff in a little earlier because the power company was holding us up pretty bad.
William, we're so happy that we could help you find your forever home. It sounds like the team you worked with really helped with achieving the dream of homeownership!

Clayton was the second place I found and blew True Value out the water hands down. There was some slow time right there at the start, but that's right around Thanksgiving and Christmastime. So, I expected a bit of a slow on that. But once everything got rolling, it was done, and quick and easy. The rep was knowledgeable on the whole process and helpful.
My home is the 2020 Powerhouse. 16 by 70. I gave the rep just the brief info on the original trailer I had looked at and the one area that I liked on that, he said, "Yeah, but here, check this one, this one, and this one." And, "If you like the kitchen space, this is the one," and that's the one I grabbed. Large kitchen. I'm a fat kid, I love to eat, and the kitchen was the biggest seller. There were a couple of issues that developed during move out and set-up. One call and it was 48 hours they had the repair checked out and all the issues were fixed. And the home is good quality so far.

The only thing is when I got my stove, two of the burners wouldn't even heat up grease. In my oven, when it should take only 17 minutes to bake cookies, it took like 45 minutes to bake cookies. The quality of the home is good. It's a mobile home, so you expect for it to not last as well as a regular home. But we haven't had any significant problems. When we first did our walkthrough, the only things that needed to be fixed were here or there, where some of the little borders around the doors weren't all the way tacked on. But it took the guy three seconds to put them back on. Clayton is a little bit pricier than some of the other places, but the service that they give you and the quality that they give you is worth it. So I have recommended them to family and friends.

My wife did a lot of the picking out of what she wanted on the home. The layout and everything was great. But there was some mix-up on the color of the inside of the home. The one my wife thought she was getting wasn't what she got. Clayton did a super job of taking care of the problem. They bought the paint for us and we repainted the whole inside of the trailer. The biggest problem was under the COVID restrictions, you couldn't go in. My wife was not greatly pleased with that part of it but things worked out. Also, everything was more expensive. It was right in the COVID thing where the lumber started going up, so that wasn't great. Other than that, everything was great. Clayton was very helpful and they did a good job so we're pleased with them. The quality of the home is fine too.

Clayton had the house I liked and I stuck with them. The paperwork went fairly fast. It's just that I closed in September, and I didn't get my house until February as it was backed up and had lumber shortage. I changed a few things like the vents from the floor to the ceiling. Then I had all the window blinds put in it and the stainless appliances in the kitchen. However, a lot of the counters, like in the kitchen, got the wraparound sleeves that goes on around it that's a little too cheap. The trailer house is not high end, but a lot of that stuff is still coming off. Some trim around on some of the walls is supposed to be stapled on or glued on, yet it’s coming off. They're supposed to come out and fix but they haven't showed up in a few weeks. Other than that, everything's been great, just a little quicker process and fix a few things a little quicker on the service.

Clayton had a lot of trailers on them to sell. We live down here in Colorado and nobody's got anything for sale. It all has to be ordered, so I decided that I was going to buy one Clayton got in the lot. After the trailer was set in place, we did some repair on the home. They needed to adjust a sliding door on the back side and put a new window over the kitchen that showed up broke in the trailer itself. Plus, the toilets had no tank lids on them and I got tired of fighting about it, so I went to Home Depot, bought me two new toilets, put them in, and throwed the other ones out. I haven't heard anything back about them. Clayton's reps tried to get me two lids and they finally did after five attempts and and five and a half months. The first four times, they got the wrong ones, so I took them back. So I've got a lot of time running back and forth in Fort Collins to Cheyenne to get this taken care of.
I was a little upset that nobody mentioned anything about the toilets because I'm out $200 for replacing them. They just told me they were glad to have sold us the home and that was pretty much the whole ball of wax. Other than that, I had excellent rapport with the owner or the manager, and the salesman. The delivery crew was excellent as well and I have no complaint about anybody that was helping me put the house in. But I did all my own plumbing because I'm a retired contractor, so didn't make no sense to me to go hire somebody for $1,400 to put a toilet in.

They are still yet to be able to come out to fix it. Actually, I called yesterday and they said it would be end of October before they could get to me.
I also had an issue with a kitchen door that had a dent in the frame of the door, and it's still not been replaced since February. But they've said that they've maybe backorder. They keep saying they're overwhelmed over their work orders, and workers are overwhelmed and overworked and haven't been able to get to me. But then it's not necessarily their fault. It may be more Covid-related. They've been very polite, easy to work with, kind, and they've apologized. But how much they can or can't speak for the issues, I don't know. I bought The Breeze 2 from Clayton and I like the barn style. What I don't like about it is the paneling. Getting the house was easy. It was finding the land that was kind of hard. I had asked for a land and house package deal and I didn't get any help whatsoever from the office. I had to do all my own investigating to find land. At first, they didn't assist until I started whining about it, and then they picked up the pace a little bit when they noticed I was probably going to go somewhere else.
Look for imperfections and mistakes in the house before even signing the paperwork. Even though I bought a floor model, they didn't put the house together with love. They just slapped it together. They didn't care what if something was crooked or was moving and touching. Have everything fixed and repaired before signing. Once you sign that paperwork and they install your house, it's hard to get them to come back and fix things.

Clayton told me that it’s my problem, to deal with Blevin’s. Blevin told me, “It’s Clayton’s problem. Deal with Clayton.” I said, “It quit leaking. Just get out here and repair the wall and the floor that got damaged.” It’s just very frustrating. When I called Rob, who was my sales rep, he seemed to get on it, too. But nobody wants to help them so that they can help me. It makes it really tough for them because then they feel bad. I'm hounding them to get out there and fix it and they were like they only have so many service guys and I've had over my service call share. But it makes it tough.
I got the Farmhouse Breeze and it's gorgeous. I love it. Everything else has been fine. But the air conditioner situation spoiled the whole rotten egg. The guy who did the skirting did a horrible job. They didn't make it level. All they had to do is scoop out a little bit of dirt and level it, but they didn't. They just went up and over the dirt piles that were created when they dug too many holes. They were originally gonna put the house more forward into my driveway. Then we came out and I said, “No. It goes back over there so I can have someplace to park my car.” It worked out. Overall, I’m very happy with Jenna, Tom, and Rob, but Clayton’s customer service to help their people, sucks. Working with Clayton Buckhannon has been fine. But working with corporate, I wouldn’t recommend anybody to deal with them.

All the special things that we ordered for our mobile home were taken care of. I wanted a 97% efficient furnace put in and a gas water heater, and those were accomplished. My wife and I are both elderly, so we wanted high-rise toilets put in, and they did that. We also omitted the bathtub in the master bath. We had a handicap walk-in shower put in for my wife, and instead of two sinks in the bathroom, we only had one installed. So far, we had some issues like you always do on a new car or a home, and Ray, the service manager, came out here and repaired everything on our list in one day.
Thank you so much for sharing your experience, Tom! We're so happy to hear that the retail center you worked with has went above and beyond to make your homebuying experience great!
