We went through pretty much all of the homes that were on the site. Everyone was very helpful. Even while we were just looking, they took the time to talk to us about anything we had questions for. They knew that we were on a time crunch, and they did the most to help it get ready by the time we needed it ready. I especially loved the person that helped us, Dylan. He was very down to earth and helped us with everything that we had questions about or needed help with. My roommate had decided on the one that we picked because of the layout and the space that it had in it. For a single-wide, our home is nice and pretty inside. Where we got the place set up is nice. It was close to also where we were before. Convenient for work. I've recommended Clayton to a few of my friends that I know are recently trying to move out and wanting to get something like ours.
Thank you so much for sharing your story, Mackenzie! We truly appreciate you choosing Clayton Homes!

The total process took three months but that wasn't on the part of Clayton Homes. It was more about us having the land ready. Clayton was ready to deliver much quicker than that. Based on all the other manufactured homes I've looked at, it feels like a home. It doesn't feel like a "mobile home." It's stable and it's all drywall inside. The quality is higher, just even looking at it and walking into it. We love it. Working with Clayton made things a lot easier than if I would have gotten with another company, based on other people who have used other companies told me how many problems they had, and we didn't have any. They're very responsive. We're still under warranty, and anything that they needed to fix or replace, somebody's out taking care of it within 24 hours.
We love hearing this, Mary Ann! Your home sounds beautiful and we want to thank you for sharing your experience.

The best experience I had with Clayton is with their sales reps, especially Lee. In fact, anybody that comes to my house, I always do referrals because of him. I've never been late on my payment and I always pay the extra. So the last four payments, I paid early. One time, I paid on the 15th and one time, I paid on the 29th. I had s dental surgery and that was why one of my payments was three weeks late, according to their books but not according to the Credit Bureau. When I knew I had to have my surgery, I told them that I couldn't pay till the 29th and they accepted my payment. I was thankful. But I had collector call me/ I got different kinds of information. That one collector kept harassing me and told the collector that I had set it up in the system and that I just had dental surgery and it was gonna clear.
Hi Eddie! We're so happy that you had a wonderful home buying experience with Clayton Homes, and that you've recommended family and friends! Since we are not a lender, we cannot speak to any financing aspects, however, we wish you all the best.

Everything was put out in front of me. The process was pretty quick. Scott was my salesman and he was pretty thorough. He was knowledgeable on the options that the builder provided and he explained them, whether it was colors versus upgrades. He was awesome. Everything was great. We did quite a few upgrades from floor vinyl throughout, to upgraded showers, and to 2x6 side walls. Clayton Homes gives you a good understanding. I was very pleased. It was a simple process. There was very little stress.
That is so great to hear, Clyde! Clayton Homes wants to thank you for your feedback, and we hope you enjoy your beautiful home for years to come!

We got a base model mobile home and we customized the walls. It took about three months for the mobile home to get out on the property. The only process that took a little bit was getting the septic put in and the power and water line needed to be ran. But that was on us. So it took a little bit for us to move in. The quality of the home is great. Everything’s going very good.
Thank you so much, Austin! We are so excited for you! Clayton Homes appreciates your feedback!

We have been treated respectfully just one day, the day we bought the home. We have been discarded and ignored since that day. Fast forward to the end, our house showed up today at noon. We had no idea it was coming. The road base for the driveway wasn’t being laid until tomorrow and the concrete wasn’t even 18 hours old (poured for the footers). I called ‘Steve’ and asked what was going on and why we hadn’t received a phone call. He told me we do this all the time. Not a good answer.
To summarize, the contractor that is supposed to install the home was very upset because, “this is too green! I can’t install a house here yet! Didn’t anyone call or come out and check this out?” Believe it or not, he is the only contractor that Clayton Homes has hired that seems to know what he’s doing, or more accurately, seem to care about doing it correctly. Here are a very short list that we are turning over to the regulatory authority in this state: no rebar in any concrete (not even the tie down piers). Some support piers are only 12 x 16 inches, 6 inches deep. Painters tarp used as a vapor barrier (I saw the package the guy took it out of). We have to live in this home. We will ALWAYS now have the impression that the house is substandard. My my is in tears!!! Avoid the stress, don’t buy from Clayton Homes. They care about selling you a home, but could care less after that. But, when they made my wife cry, they stepped way over the line!
Hi Aaron, we appreciate you reaching out and making us aware of these concerns. Customer experience is of the upmost importance to us, and we take this feedback very seriously. It only took eight months to be able to get the trailer. My consultant and I got to be pretty deep. I got along with all of them over at the dealership in New Iberia. I'm satisfied with my home. There were sliding doors on the back end of the trailer and I didn't want sliding doors so we took it off and we put a pair of atrium doors, but right now, it's not sliding. About three weeks ago, an installer came here with a brand new door that they shipped from Waco. But it was one door and I said that won't fit in the two-door home. The little guy said, “Yeah,” and he went back to the dealership. They have to make it right. It needs to be done.
As far as the manufacture in Waco, they put a used set of doors on it, which I wasn't happy with but then it ended up I could put some paint on the door because the doors were all right. All the paint was coming off the frame. It wasn't even painted. It was just the primer. So I messed with that for a while but Clayton was supposed to be sending me some doors, which never happened. So I told them to paint the frame of the door. They painted the frame, and then now, I'm getting water from underneath the door. The frame of sliding door they had on there was a little smaller than the wooden doors in it now. It’s leaking water. Last night, we have a bunch of rain here and I mopped up about two gallons of water coming from the back door.
My experience with the dealership was fine. I'm very, very happy with the trailer. My electricity bill’s cheap. It’s well insulated. The construction part of it is good. I'm well satisfied with everything. It’s held this past winter. I barely ran my heater. The trailer stayed warm. At night, I sleep with just a sheet. But my problem is the factory that made the trailer. They need to fix this one problem that's been lingering. Now, they told me the doors are in, but they got to get somebody out here to put it in.

Anytime I called TJ, he was always available and he answered any questions I have. He was very attentive to what we needed and he seemed to really stay on top of our account. We looked at the home that was on a lot that had been sold an we bought the same one. They just had to build it. The quality of the home has been good so far. From the time of looking at the home to closing, it took about four months. It went pretty smooth.

The people at the Easley branch made it real easy for me. Dakota and Remington sold me the house. They did anything they could to get it worked out for me to where I didn't have to worry. They've done an excellent job. It all went very well. I got to pick out the flooring and I love the quality of the house. Working with Clayton helped me a lot just having them do all the legwork. I told my grandpa about them and he bought a house from them too.

There was a lack of communication between my mortgage company and the management at Clayton Homes. Then there was a lack of communication with Clayton Homes and me. I was told that something would happen on a certain date and then it ended up not happening, or we would go weeks and I wouldn't hear anything. But if I was updated weekly, it would have been better. The whole process took about 18 months.
When my home came in, Clayton Homes called and told me that the home was on the lot, and my husband and I could come and do the walk-through to see how things work. When I first walked through, I noticed that the fireplace was the wrong fireplace that I ordered. Also, the kitchen sink was the wrong sink that I ordered and the carpet seemed lighter. They said that this was the carpet that I ordered. So I just went with that. But I'm really upset with the fireplace because I had wanted a different fireplace in my home and now it can't be changed.
Clayton offered to pay for the materials to have my fireplace changed, but it would be up to me to find someone to come in and tear down the existing fireplace and put up a new one. Then with the sink, the manager told me, "Oh, well, the sales lady just put in this sink. It wasn't that much of a difference, only like a $20 difference." To me, it doesn't matter how much it was, it's not what I ordered. But I'm fine with the sink now. Clayton ordered the rock and the material to have the fireplace redone. But I'm having an issue with finding someone that will come in and redo it. Also, at one point, I was told, "Oh, well, if you change the fireplace, it's gonna mess with the warranty of the home." When I mentioned that again to someone, they said, "Oh, no, it won't mess with your warranty." But since it was said once, I'll just keep it because maybe it will mess with the warranty.
The home is cheaply made and it was rushed. It seemed like we kept getting pushed back from the date that we were going to be in the house. Eventually, my mortgage company had told Clayton, "Well, look, she signed these papers, she has to be in there by this date. If she's not in there by this date, then we're gonna have to do everything from the beginning." So once the mortgage company told them that, Clayton pushed to get me in there. I feel like the home was just thrown together. Clayton Homes didn't keep the customer informed of what was going on, and they weren't too responsive with my mortgage company either.
Hi Tiffani, thank you for getting back with us. We have spoken to the retail location, as well as our customer advocates. The retail general manager has informed us that she has received photos of the damaged items. The home center has paid for stone to be delivered for a fireplace remodel (up to your choosing if you repair), The stone company said that it will be delivered by the end of the week.
The only item left from previously that has not been taken care of is the pile of debris left from the land clearing. The home center has agreed that this will be completed no later than Monday of next week, and will send in photo after completion to confirm.

The people down there went above and beyond to help me out. I went to about nine different places and Clayton Homes was the first place I went and looked. I ended up going back to them because of the people that work there. They asked what people need. They were straightforward with me. They don’t **. That’s the kind of people I like to deal with. They've done me a real good job. I've recommended four more people to them. Everybody that asked me, I'll tell them to go down there to Clayton and call them. I appreciate what they've done for me. My son bought a house from them right after I did and he was just as satisfied as I was. They're good folks down there.

I liked that the home had an open floor plan and the finished drywall. I bought a lot model so the price was really good. I signed in July and the home was there within the month. Then within a few weeks, it was together. Clayton Homes was really quick about it. I told the gal who sold the home to me that I sold my camper and I was living with my parents. So she told me that they would hurry for me and they really did.
There's been a few things that have needed little maintenance repairs in the home. But Tim has been really good to come right out whenever I needed him to it. They frame of the backdoor was busted from where they had it tied off on the lot. So they ordered me a new backdoor and they're waiting on warmer weather to install it. They're really good about communicating. I was pleased with the experience. You have to realize that you're not going to get a house the next day. But if you're just using common sense, then you'll have a really pleasant experience. The people are personable and really friendly to work with.
Thank you so much for your feedback, Caitlin! We're so happy that the home center was able to make this an awesome customer experience for you!

We drove by a lot and saw a house that Clayton had. We were in a time crunch and the deciding factor for us was we could buy that house on the lot versus having to order one and having to wait three months to have it built. We had more or less seen exactly what we were getting instead of ordering the house and thinking you're gonna get what you're gonna get but there’s always something a little different.
The house looks more like a regular built home with the material they used in it versus the house that we were gonna buy initially. That one didn't have the crown mold in it and the stuff around the doors which is like a batten strip instead of the 366 casing. The interior doors look a little bit better too. I like the crown mold in the Clayton home. As far as the floor plans, they were about the same as the other house. It was just that the Clayton home has some better features in it. The nine-foot ceiling was a definite plus. This house is more expensive but it is better built.
The purchase process was pretty cut and dry. We already had finance and stuff in place. It was just more or less swapping some money around, getting the house off the lot, and getting it out here. We pretty much bought the house on that day. 30 days after that, our bank had everything and set up the close. We closed in about 30 days. Clayton then moved the mobile home out here and got it set up for us. It was a smooth ordeal. It was quick too which was the main thing we were looking for. We had a ood experience.

Clayton seemed to have a better selection. I had a good rep and although things were a little confusing at times, they all seemed to work out in the end. There was a lot of back and forth in getting everything right. The process took about eight months. We had a few bumps along the way of getting things squared away. It was right at the start of COVID and all the precursors were coming up. I like the stability of my home. We're looking for repairs to be done now. We upgraded the cabinets and we moved the door. We still have some issues right now that are being fixed. Hopefully, once all that is done, we'll be in the clear. Clayton has done a really good job at taking care of the issues that I've brought up. It has taken a little bit more time with COVID, random shutdowns, and supplies. Clayton has also been doing a good job of trying to get all that wrapped up.

I've always heard good things about Clayton Homes and the salesman that we met on the property spent a lot of time with us that day and checked in on us later. We went with them and the process of buying the home was good. They stayed in contact with us and the lender. Everything was good. We did the upgraded 2x6 walls. From the model home, we did a bathroom upgrade with a tub, and we modified a hot water heater from electric to gas too.
Overall, the bones of the home are good, but a lot of the trim work that was done looks cheap. For instance, my kitchen cabinets. I love my cabinets, the functionality, everything’s great. However, I've already had four that fell off the hinges because the screws that were used in them were so small. We also had some hiccups after we got the home, getting service from the lot itself, but the team over at Paducah stepped up and corrected everything they could from the service level there. Everything's resolved right now and I appreciate them doing that.

Everything went well with Clayton Homes and the reps were nice. But I’ve had trouble with my shower door since July 21st when it was delivered. The first time they worked on my bathroom, they took the door off and said they’d have a new one out there within two weeks, and I never heard from anyone again. I finally called my salesman and Sarj, the rep. They both came out and looked at it, and they agreed that it wasn't right. The door that's on there is not the door that fits it. The right-hand door that has a towel bar on it that you can slide back and forth has got two of those and they're the same. Sarj said someone would call me on Tuesday. That was the week before his vacation and it's been a month and a half. I wish they'd return my call. If it's something they can't do, they can call me and say that they don't know how to fix it. I wouldn't be happy about them not knowing how to fix it but I can call a plumber and he can fix it.
I can only reach the bottom shelf of any of my cabinets because they're so high. They're ridiculous. I’m short but even my tall friends could only reach the second shelf. The bathrooms are terrible and the vanities are awful. It’s almost useless. There's one big door and there's all this space on each side, but you can't see in there and you can't open it. So, you cram stuff back there that you don't use very often. The home is not very livable. They need to get a woman in there to help. They're the ones that use the kitchen.

The staff at Clayton were a little bit more accommodating, knowledgeable, and willing to suit our needs when we toured their facilities. I really liked the cabinet space in the kitchen. I also liked having the openness in the living room and I liked the master bathroom. There was a couple of minor changes we wanted to make, and Kenny, our sales rep, was really good about making the changes we wanted. We wanted a little bit bigger house than what we had and Kenny showed us a great representation of what they had there in Joplin, and we were able to settle on something.
We changed the color of the cabinets and went with some can lighting in the kitchen. I also wanted a rainfall showerhead and Kenny made that happen for us in the master bedroom. 99.9% of everything went very smoothly. I wish in our living room, we have had a light right at the door or just off that, instead of just the one ceiling fan. Outside of that, everyone at Clayton worked really well with meeting our needs and updating us at regular intervals. We felt like we were a part of the process. Clayton did a good job of listening to our needs, showing us what they had, and then saying, “Even though this house doesn't have this feature, we can match this.” When people say manufactured homes, I don't think the word customizable is the next word out of their mouth. But to us, that was a big selling point.

I went into Clayton Homes and they were able to get me financed through a local banker.
It was slow going at the beginning as far as the projected timeline and Clayton put me and my family in a bind. We ended up in a hotel for a week or so, which was longer than what we anticipated. It seemed like there was no follow-through when we dealt with the subcontractors. I was constantly calling Clayton and asking when things were gonna happen. It seemed like they weren’t taking it very seriously. They were giving me the best-case scenario, but not the likely scenario. It seemed like they were hesitant to call and follow-up on stuff to get a better timeline. But it's okay. For the most part, everything went well.

He said they were going to bring us in. About five months later, it finally gets to the end after a headache every way we turned with it. I would not do it again with Clayton.

Clayton finally showed up and finished up the work. But now, the foundation is washed away and they didn't tell us that we had put something on the end of the spout of the drain and the foundation is washing out. I went out to talk to Clayton and a rep said that they would be out, but he has never showed up yet. So, I'm not too happy with them. Other than that, Little Ashley that worked there was fantastic. She went out and beyond what she should have to do to get somebody approved for a loan. I've got two granddaughters that are going to buy a house from Clayton too as soon as land can be found to put it on.

We had a few manual agreements and Clayton didn't live up to their promise. The trailer was $40,000. I told their rep I don't feel like having to search for water and power and set it up. I told him I’d rather pay him. He charged me right at $10,000 for all of that and I had to do that and the electric pole, which he had included in there.
They gave me a floor elevation and when they brought the trailer, they put it up 20 inches higher. The steps wouldn't fit anymore. They only had five steps and I needed 10 steps after it was up. I had to pay to get me some steps made and a rooftop. I spent at least $4,200 on that. The next thing was that it was 32 inches and he charged me $1,500 for it because it was more than a normal average trailer. We never agreed to that. I told him I’d pay a reasonable rate. But then it ended up almost six feet off the ground the way they put it and I’m five feet above zero.
My children wanted an itemized statement and they went over there very nicely. When they started asking questions, they wouldn't give the itemized statement and the lady in the office, Sue, made them leave. But the agreement wasn't on paper so I just did what I had to do and I left them alone. I was very disappointed. But the trailer is comfortable and everything works fine. The hot water tank had a leak and they came and replaced it. We’re living comfortably now.

It wasn't our intent to purchase a mobile home. We came up here from Florida, I'm originally from this area, and things had changed over three years, and it became an option that we hadn't thought of. We went to Clayton Homes, the one in Kodak, and we were pleased with what we saw. We thought about it a few days and decided to move forward with buying it. We used Jeremy. He's a young man. We were back in Florida and we did this completely remotely. He took care of everything, helped us find the property that we're on. We were very impressed with him. He could not have been better. Clayton ended up dragging the home in. They had a hard time. Originally, it was to sit backwards on the lot but they couldn't do that. They had to set it the other way. But they got it in.
There were a lot of things that drew us to the home. What stood out to us was the layout, which what appeals to most people. They would probably look at the model, but we like the exposed wood. I also like the small bar. There's just the two of us. We had first thought about double wide, but that was not appropriate for this piece of land. We're on the side of a mountain. So, came to this conclusion that we just liked it. We like that we have lots of windows.
There were some things in our ignorance that we didn't ask. We didn't completely understand that you could get multiple upgrades. We knew about the OSD because Jeremy told us that, so we changed the flooring. If it were me, I would want to push upgrades. These are very reasonably priced. You could add another $40,000, $50,000 to the purchase price and still be budget-friendly. Things weren't done as well as I would have liked them to be done. We had several things that weren't right. The saving grace was Rebecca, who does their customer service at Kodak. She sent these two guys, Rodney and Rick, who have become family friends, and they have fixed everything. If it was big, small, you name it. They did everything they could to make it right and to make us happy, and I'm very appreciative of that, particularly in these times.

The home buying process With Clayton Homes was an easy thing to do once we made a decision. Getting everything squared away as far as fixes and repairs have been challenging but they're coming together slowly. The reps are doing their part. It’s just wherever their resources are outside of them is where we’re falling short. We’ve got damaged cabinets and they can’t seem to get the color correctly and to fix them. We got hot water issues in our shower that we can't seem to figure out why it picks and chooses when the hot water is going to be hot or cold. There are also sheet wall repairs that still need to be fixed and we can't get the lady to come out and take care of it. But they've been great with us. It's just getting everybody else to get in line with what needs to be done. I would recommend Clayton but I would never go this route ever again. Clayton has been good but all the other stuff that comes with this process has been a little bit of a headache.

Everything went according to plan. Clayton's rep was very nice. He was good and thorough. The only issue we had is when the movers moved the home, they hit the bridge, in the location where they were moving it in, and they had to do a lot of repairs on it. Getting everything fixed is taking a lot of time. But it's due to COVID and not having the adequate workers on hand.

Clayton was a local place close to where we lived and when we found out that they did modulars as well, we went through them. They had a lot of models on the lot. At first, we were hoping to get a double wide. Then we found out the land that we were interested in couldn't do double wide. We found out which models on the lot were available in modular form and two of the ones that we liked were available in modular. Prius and Andrea were awesome from the start at that location in Lancaster.
We placed the order for the home in January ad we closed second week in July. They communicated everything to us, letting us know what the holdup was, what they were waiting on and what the bank was saying because of covid that they needed, etc. Covid was the main holdup but I don't think seven months is a long time in building a new house. When they put the house at the location, we went out there and watched that. The separate shower and huge soaking tub in the master’s is one thing that I loved about the model we went with. They also had the open floor plan with the dining, kitchen and living room all in one huge room which is what I liked. We doubled square footage from our previous house so that was a huge thing. There was an extra room too. We have a three-year-old and that sat there next to her bedroom so we made that her play room with a TV.

I priced a few houses right there with Clayton, Oakwood, and Down East. And Clayton seemed to come off the price a bit. They had a sale on the trailer and a little more incentive than anybody else and I liked the trailer that they had, single wide. For the price of it, we decided to go with a three-bedroom because we will turn around and sell it shortly. It would be easier to sell and it was bigger. Clayton did well as far as getting the trailer here and getting it set up.

When we went to get the house, the rep told us the price. But when I went to sign the papers, it was a different thing. The price went up, and it was all different stuff that we didn't agree on. And they didn't put it in there some of the stuff that were supposed to come with the house. Also, when they brought the trailer, it had cracks and they didn't fix it. The wall has big gaps in it and the house ain't even a year old. They tried to say the hurricane did it. It wasn't from the hurricane. It was from them moving it there. They should have fixed it when they brought it there instead of trying to make me do an insurance claim. If I could go back, I would have left the trailer where it was and probably went to Lafayette.

I was pretty pleased with everything with the home buying process except once I move in to look for little things that I didn't see. I've called it to Clayton Homes' attention. One of my doors is warped, and there are two little minor things. But, overall, I'm pretty comfortable with it. Bryan was one of the guys that I talked to there. Overall, I had a good experience with Clayton. At the time, we didn't know which plan I was going with. We ended up going all the way around and coming back to the same one. I was gonna go through VA and we ran into complications. Then this COVID came up, so it wasn't all Clayton's fault. We run through a bad run there because they're making everybody shut down, and I shut down, and things slowed down. But it turned out alright.
Clayton Homes is a pretty good place to go. If some of my friends were looking for one, I would recommend them to go to Clayton mobile homes because when you let them know what's going on, they'll try to do the right thing and put you in the right home. So far, they've done everything that they told me that they were gonna do. I'm a satisfied customer.

After I closed, my sister asked if I changed anything and I didn't know I could do that. I didn't want the tub in the master bedroom. I would have put a window there instead. That was the only issue with Clayton. But as far as the customer service at the office, it was excellent. I had no problems with them calling me back. Now, with the quality of the build, they still have to do things for me. I went into my grandbaby's closet to do something. I realized they didn't put all the stuff and so there was a big gap. Also, the shingles on the trailer already started lifting up a month after I got it. Then, the siding that they put on there was cut too short.
Then every time I go inside, I'm not happy with the way they nailed the sheetrock up. It looks cheap. What made it worse was the way they just went in there and hit it with nails. They didn't even hit the wood. It looked like they just hit it with a staple gun. I saw spots and asked if those were holes, and they said those were staples. Some of it, they didn't even staple, the trims that go in between the seams were not done correctly. The guy has been there a couple of times to fix it. Some trim may be two inches long, another spot look like it's an inch and a half. They didn't expect a woman to know that, but I do. They've got to come in and do all those kinds of stuff and I'm going to see how long it takes to fix those.

I really liked the representative from Clayton Homes. She was very understanding and made me feel comfortable. It was my first experience in buying a home and she was the first person who broke everything down to me and helped me understand the steps of buying a modular home. She didn't just tell me to go and look in all the homes, she actually listened to me. So, I definitely appreciated that.
I bought a home in a pandemic, so it took an extra long time for me to get my home. Overall, it was a great experience. There were some things that I thought that I was going to get that would be upgraded, but it wasn't. But it's not a big of a deal as I thought. I really like the quality of the home. I've seen other modular homes and my house feels very comfortable and more homey to me. It doesn't feel like I'm living on the outside. It's impeccable. I really am very happy with my home choice.

Clayton Homes bumped us up in line because we had the house fire and we were living out of an outbuilding. So they did their best to get the home here as soon as possible. Their rep was excellent. I could contact her at work and she also gave me her cell phone number to contact her at home or anything with any questions. She was always there for us and she would answer while she was at work or at home.
We really liked the home and its spaciousness. It was equal to the square footage of the home we lost in a house fire. The only thing we requested was all-vinyl flooring and no carpeting. But we were disappointed about the inside of our closet. It is more or less just bare drywall and there's no paper or anything on top of that. We've also noticed the laminate on the bar tops, the strips that are on the sides, are catching on our clothing and peeling backward. Also, some of the trim is already getting pretty loose throughout the house.

We went into some other places but the combination of the sales staff and the floor plan of the house were two things that kept us going back to Clayton. The reps walked us through the entire process and told us what to expect and when to expect it. We didn't really have any surprises. It was very open. Charles walked us through most of everything and he was very professional and knew a lot about the homes. However, it's missing a few things, like the windows in the kitchen are right next to each other, but one is higher than the other. So visually, very odd. The air conditioner registers in two of the bedrooms are not square with the room, they're tilted. It's not that big a deal, of course. One of the things that I was kind of disappointed about was the interior walls are not 16 on the center, they're 24 on the center. To me, that's not particularly a wonderful quality issue.
I asked the handyman who came over for a couple of just some tweaks, things to get in order, which they did. They've been very responsive about one or two things that needed some help with. But I mentioned to him about the windows over the sink in the kitchen and he said, that's a manufacturing defect and there's nothing they can do about it. We recommended a friend over to them and they purchased the same style of house we did.

It's easier to get a mobile home disabled than it is an entire house. We built it and designed it so that it could have a 60-inch shower and we picked out the floor, and then they showed my wife that's disabled how the bathroom would look. But when the mobile home arrived, it didn't have the color floor that was chosen. Whoever designed the bathroom, its door swung open and hit the person on the toilet. The individual people gave me a free washer and dryer for the snafu on the floor. The cabinets that my wife wanted were added to the laundry room. They replaced the swinging door with a barn door. In the end, I was pretty satisfied.
When I chose the 80-foot trailer, they didn't warn me that it would sit so high. In the event of it sitting so high, the wind comes through at the low end and blows out the high end. The skirting at the bottom gets blown out. Now they've come and fixed it a couple of times, but they've warned me that it's not warrantied. Clayton Homes should look into that. They should have said that the trailer sits five and a half feet off the ground that I'm going to have a problem with the skirting. After a year, I'm gonna be left on my own, and I've asked them to reinforce the front since the front eaves are blowing out 'cause the wind goes in at the low end and blows out the high end. There's a lack of communication between the people who sell the home and the people who are building the home. If they would have communicated, we would have changed that bathroom halfway through the building process.

The reps also seemed disorganized. It's great to sell the house and it comes with all the kit and caboodle. But the service and after you buy the house, it's always downhill. The person in the office didn't have a lot of construction knowledge. But the house was a spec home and it was fantastic. They also gave us a really beautiful welcome gift and how to take care of the house and a folder for all the warranties.

We had a very long journey going through everything but it went fine. There are a few things I wish Clayton would change about how they built some things but I’m enjoying it. The electrical outlets should be more the standard where you have to screw it in instead of pop in. The outlet cover pops on and that doesn't always work very well. They've had to fix that a couple of times. Clayton should look into changing that especially with little kids. They pop out that easy. We tried to change a couple of things and we found out that they couldn’t be changed. They had changed the plans and we couldn't. So they compensated us for a few things, which was nice.

The reps told us they would get right on it but they never did. We wanna get the title of the house and we’ve been trying to get it since June. Clayton doesn’t know where it’s at. They say it’s in Raleigh but you can’t get through to Raleigh in North Carolina to find out about the title. Right now, the vinyl has been buckling and I’ve been having to take the baseboard down and stretch it back again. They sent the guy over here. He had done the best he could but he couldn’t get all the wrinkles out. I had to repaint the entire house by myself. They spot-painted every wall in our house at 15 different colors or shades, and it looks worse than patchwork. I have not ever seen anything like it. So, I’m very disappointed with Clayton.

The rep I worked with was very helpful and very friendly. Anytime I had a question, she could answer it. The quality of the Clayton Home has been okay. We had one thing when the home was set up. They told me that once the water was hooked up, I was supposed to check the joints in the plumbing. But there was a piece of plastic PEX that had a pinhole in it. So, it was leaking.
Also, the bottom belly board holding the insulation was really swollen. Like a big water balloon in one area. I just cut in, water had poured out. It was all from that little pinhole leak from the PEX. It was installed in the factory that way. It had nothing to do with people at the home center I bought it from. But I had notified them and they took care of it. We let it dry out right there and then they fixed it. There's also been some settling where the trim was loose. But that was to be expected. But after we went in, we had to wait several months to close. Nothing was wrong, it just got dragged. We were highly irritated about that. Also, some of the service guys from the home center are not that great. They left and said they had to go get something. Then, they took a lunch break while they were out and that was at 9:45 in the morning. But factory-wise, I had Bobby and he was fantastic. He came out, looked around my house, and fixed everything like it would be his.

It's real energy-efficient from what we've had in the cold winter the last few weeks which was18 and 20 below zero. I had no problem heating it off. It prevents the loss of heat.
So far, so good. Everybody was great to work with. They had a new loan department for the mortgage and that was the first time I was dealing with them. I dealt with Kathy to begin with but I dealt with a few other people during the process and it went smoothly. They did all the legwork getting things in place and the permits. It was a total of about three weeks from moving my old place out to getting a new place in and set up. The home buying process went well. The factory and the person that we dealt with at Clayton to buy the house were excellent. She still follows up with us now which is nice. There was nothing wrong with the product itself but we had issues with the workmanship of the setup crew trying to put the house together. The factory sent two people out that work for Clayton Homes to help fix stuff that got screwed up when they put it together and it still isn't completely done.

Clayton's houses looked like they were built better. They weren't making the house model that we found anymore and we got a really good deal on it. Whenever we were looking and whenever we did purchase, everything went great and smooth. But once we got the house set up, we were told we would have someone there to kind of overseeing everything. But we never seen anybody from Clayton Homes. They've never stepped foot in our house since it was put on our property.
There's still a lot of things that they have not come and fixed yet that we've been waiting on. It seems like we get scheduled and then something happens every time. Whenever they put everything back together, the trim around our whole house needs to be redone because you can see the staple of the nail through the woods. Also, the leg on our island was chipped and they keep telling me they can't get the part. There's a laundry room door that was put on backwards and they have to replace the whole door.
When the guy came out the first time to look at our house and see what needed done, he said, “Well, they didn't tell me anything that needed done.” So we went through and looked at everything and he made a list. His trip to our house could have been avoided if they’d have known what needed to be done at the beginning. It's like there's so many different people involved, that they're not all communicating with each other. Also, every time I talk to them, it's someone different. The guy came out back in November and a rep scheduled us for January to fix everything. But the part for our island hadn't come in yet. Then they were supposed to come last Tuesday but we haven't heard anything from them.

I had a really good experience with Clayton. The home buying process was a lot simpler than trying to rebuild in the town of Paradise from scratch. It was straightforward. We had our representative helping us every step of the way and made life easier for someone like me who's never had to buy a house. Polly was awesome. She was very professional on all things. If I had an issue with the contractor, she was right there to help me. She even bought us a housewarming gift, which I absolutely loved.

We were looking for a new house and happened to stop by one day. And we liked few of the houses, so we ended up staying with Clayton. I liked the way some of the builds look western-like, like the farmhouse look. The reps kept us in the loop of how everything went. And if they had somebody come, they always let us know and was very friendly. We still talk to them. However, it took a month for them to move the model that we liked because we had a situation with the water. The plumber left the water on and it flooded the kitchen and master bathroom. Clayton had to repair them before we could get in there. They worked on it pretty quick. My mama wants some shelves. But other than that, we like the build.

We started looking and Clayton Homes was where we ended up. It was a last-minute thing. Our home came without a bathtub. It should have had one. But that was all taken care of. We lived in an old, two-story farmhouse. I like that our new home is one-story. I'm tickled with the electric bill so far. Last month was $150, so that's not bad. I would buy another home.

Everybody around the tristate area knows about Clayton Homes. They had a good price, and we worked with good people. We had a few things changed on the home but very few. We moved the toilet over a bit. And we had a manufacturing problem on one of the air vents. The rep might have discussed that with the manufacturer, and the guy that moved it in had a word with him too. But then, they screwed up putting one of the vents in, in the bedroom, and just jammed the insulation into the vent, didn't hook it up correctly and blocked it completely off. So, we had to cut the flooring out and move the vent over to make it line up properly to make it work. And that was a manufacturer screw-up in the floor. Other than that, it's a very good, quality home. We like it. And we're very satisfied with Clayton taking care of the problem that the manufacturer had too. They came out and fixed it promptly, and got it all fixed up. They did a good job.

Don’t Buy from Clayton Homes!!!! Purchased a house from them in 2016. Continuous water leaks in my roof and inside which they never repaired. Only patched. Now I am four years in the ownership with a leaky roof that now needs to be replaced. After two inspectors gave their report on the mess and shoddy workmanship on my roof they refuse to stand behind their work although it has been an ongoing issue And they continued to patch for three years after first leak started. I have been notified by Clayton Homes of Maryville Tennessee that they are denying my claim because I am out of warranty so they will not stand behind their home and workmanship. So I sought legal advice and was told that I am past the statutes of limitations on workmanship. So after four years I the consumer out of my pocket have to pay for a new roof and the big corporation gets away with it!!
I suggest anyone purchasing a home from Clayton Homes please go somewhere else or get an 11 month thorough home inspection before your warranty is up to uncover any possibility of Issues that they will not stand behind after your warranty and do so especially if you’ve had issues within the first year.... They babysat me for three years coming out and only patching the roof knowing full well they messed up my roof and knowing that they soon would be past the statutes of limitations and would not be liable for repairs / replacement!! Pretty dirty dealings!!!
Hi Darlene, thank you for reaching out and sharing your experience with us. Clayton Homes continues to work diligently to provide a world-class customer experience. I love my home, the quality is amazing. Everything in the trailer is correct. With the exception of a few things that need to be fixed once parts come in. That’s perfectly fine as long as it gets done! However, from the Demo of the old trailer to trying to move in to the new trailer has been a complete nightmare. The sales rep. seems to think we’re still buying and he needs to sell us but we’re not buying anymore. We’ve already bought & closed so a little straightforward honesty would be great since we’ve been getting NOTHING BUT RUNAROUND MISINFORMATION. We just want to move in our new home.
We were supposed to move in by the end of 2020. That got pushed back PER the sales rep. That didn’t happen. Manufacturing delays is what we were told. Then he told us it would be the middle of January. He wanted us to move out immediately for the demo while my lot sat empty for no telling how long. Just waiting on the manufacturer to deliver trailer to Clayton Homes. The sales representative had no dates of when that would be. He has had no straightforward answers for us whatsoever. He had no idea what was going on with our trailer. If he did he failed to communicate that information.
I asked if we could have a little more time before the demo of my old trailer because we still lived there. We were trying to not have to move everyone into a tiny 2 bedroom apartment 45 minutes away from my kids schools until absolutely necessary. Nor should my boyfriend have had to renew his lease. We uprooted my family and have been here for going on 2 months.
When I said we needed time to move, I made it CLEAR if the trailer is on its way to Clayton homes. Even if he had a rough estimate of when the trailer would be there. We have been MORE THAN READY TO MOVE IN and only asked for extra time to move out because the sales representative never told us anything about the trailer being ready. He told us the trailer “probably” wouldn’t be ready until the end of January. He failed to communicate any of that with his supervisor. Then he told us we’d be able to move the first week of February. Again that never happened. We didn’t just push it off. We went by what the sales representative told us. We were doing what the sales representative said because the trailer was still at the manufacturers.
We’ve been living in this tiny 2 bedroom apartment for going on 2 months when the sales representative told us a couple of weeks. While the trailer is just sitting there not complete. The skirting still isn’t up. Underneath the trailer looks nothing like he said it would. The cleaning crew for the inside did a terrible job and everything you touch is still feels like sawdust. It was not cleaned good at all. I owned a professional cleaning service and this is completely unexceptionable. They completely destroyed my property/land and has made ZERO effort to fix that HUGE DISASTER they made on my property. They left construction debris & trash all over my yard and neighbors my yard for weeks now. That could’ve been completed when they were done. Instead of leaving it for weeks.
To top everything off the last thing we are waiting on is the elevation certification/permit was NEVER ORDERED. I spoke to the Demolition people after I complained to the sales representative. She then says the sales representative just called to order that. When I complained to the MANAGER/SUPERVISOR she said “we didn’t want to move in until mid January and requested this delay.” That’s a flat out bold face lie. Had that sales representative told us the trailer needs to be demolished before the end of 2020 because the new trailer is ready to be moved to my property. We would’ve done EVERYTHING to make sure that happened as soon quickly as possible. So they could get their job done. I’m so disgusted with this company and their lack of communication and accurate information.

They were out there three weeks ago and they knew about this leak. So, if they don't get it fixed, they're gonna end up having to replace the floor. I have notified them. There were only a couple of things that were wrong with the home -- a leaky faucet and the door needed a little bit of adjusting -- but other than that, it was pretty top-notch.

The buying process, like going up there to their office and getting approved for the loan was nice. It was very easy to go through that. The reps helped me pick out the house that best fit us. But after I've gotten the house, Clayton Homes of El Reno has done the exact opposite. Spending $80,000 to $90,000 on a house which is that much money, you would think that they would take good care of you. But I've barely heard from them in months.
I needed things fixed months ago that they were supposed to contact me about and they haven't. I'm dissatisfied with Clayton Homes of El Reno on how they've kept in contact and came back and fix the things they were supposed to. They could have done a whole lot better. I had somebody from Clayton Homes call me about three weeks ago and they were supposed to take care of some of the stuff or they were supposed to get ahold of Clayton in El Reno and have them get ahold of me to take care of some stuff. That was three weeks ago and I haven't got one phone call. Whenever I first went to get my house, I had two or three people that I could interest in getting houses through Clayton and I told them to go somewhere else besides Clayton in El Reno.

I heard that Clayton Homes builds good homes and by reference of people talking, I went there. The reps were good. I'm enjoying my home but Clayton Homes never have closed on my deal. It's been seven months and I can’t get anything out of them. Also, I had quite a few faults on my trailer. There were a lot of things that needed to be done to it and some of them still haven’t got done. They put a faulty sink in the kitchen. It had a big knot on the inside. The bathtub in the guest room is cracked from the inside, like a screw or nail had went through it and it still hasn't been fixed. My stove messed up and I tried to get it fixed but I couldn't get satisfaction out of them. It took months to even get somebody out there to look at it. The guy kept canceling on me so I took it out and put in another stove I had.
All the trim in the house keep falling off and we took little bitty nails and started nailing them back on. I still have a plug in over by the stove that doesn't work. Our front door was messed up. I'd had the man out two or three times to fix it and it never did close right. My son fixed it and I guess that ruined the warranty on it. The way that Clayton Homes handled fixing the problem hasn't been right so I'm kinda dissatisfied. I also think I paid way too much for the home.

Nobody would sell us insurance. I have contacted Clayton but they wouldn't help us because the storm was in the gulf, and it would probably come our way. I went to different ones like Allstate and State Farm but couldn't get any help. What if the storm demolished it? I wouldn't have **. It's still costing me. $7,000. And then that's the labor. I'm about at my wits’ end on all of this. I'm 58 years old. And this is entirely too much on my back, but I'll pay the trailer off. And now everybody wants money for this, money for that, and it's still going on. I don't have my skirting on around the trailer. I moved here and was living with my son for three months and looking for a home. He knew about this place but it was my last option because the prices had risen around the homes that I was interested in. He said we should drive by Clayton Homes or the mobile park and see what they have. We stopped in and the home buying process happened so fast. I was anxious to get in a place and start settling in, and I didn't give it a lot of thought. Dan took me to this one nice, big place and I liked it. It was the one I bought. My biggest problem is the rent. It's not high but I've owned a home and the ground before when I moved to California. So, this was very hard for me to get used to the idea of owning the house but not owning the ground. That was a hurdle for me.
One of the very best things that Clayton did was the guest bathroom. The skylight that they put in and included in this place saves electricity from turning the lights on, if dark. I do tend to burn the lights so, I like that skylight very much. The quality seems to be good. There are a few things that have had to be worked on but overall, it's very nice. I added the kitchen counters. I wanted something more so, I had granite put in. It would be very nice if they would put that in the homes. It would add to the quality a lot. Clayton is a good alternative home for the price.

The coordinator could have been better. The note-taking caused some problems. I asked for things like firm back storm doors. I only got one storm door which was a full glass door when I asked for a double screen storm door. I only got one glass door which bounced back and bit me because I wound up making a deal with them to purchase two doors so I can have them install them which wasn't fun. One of the doors that they installed, the doorknobs hit together. I cannot close the one front door. That was partially my fault because they put the storm door in and that was fine. I didn't close the inner door until three hours later when the guy left because it was a nice day out.
I got molding around the window framing that's falling off. I look in there, there's no insulation and I got drafty windows. I got batten strips falling off the walls. There's no caulking around the master bath. I took a couple of baths in the bathtub. Water got on the garden tub on it 'cause there was not enough caulking. Now, it tipped over towards the toilet and got straight into the wall. I have to call them about that. Then they totally forgot about the ceiling fan on the front porch that I asked for. I had no idea when I'd get that because the coordinator forgot to write it down. They also got the wrong stove. I told them to order the parts but every time that the contractor would call me, he didn't know how to put it in. I finally had a friend of mine to fix the oven.
The closets were all messed up, they weren't finished on the inside. When I asked the manager about it, as well as his wife that had worked at the place, they said that some closets didn't come finished. When I'm paying $123,000, I want all my bedrooms finished. When they asked me for a score from one to 10, I gave them a 6. They were not happy about that. I wouldn't recommend Clayton.

The purchasing process with Clayton went well. It started being a problem when we actually got to get the house on the property because we had bad communications. They said they’d get back to me and I would never hear a thing. I always had to call. The new manager they got there realized that and he drove all the way out here to apologize to me. Up to that point, it was fantastic. I wish I would have the money to get a double-wide, roomier, and all that stuff. But I got the single-wide and I'm super happy with the home.
One suggestion to them is with the front doors on the end. The way they put the door in, it opens from the right to the left, swinging in if you're inside, looking at it. What that does is it cuts off access to the living room and kitchen, and you just come straight in. If it had opened from the left-hand side to the right, you'd have access to the kitchen, living room, bedrooms, everything. It wouldn't have been in the way at all. If they build any more of these, they might want to look at that. It’d be a little nicer if they would have done that. Overall, I really like them.

My experience with Clayton was good with the exception of a few things. The things that they told me they were gonna have done, they didn't do. They were supposed to shampoo the carpet because it smells like someone lives there. It's so stuffy. I have to put stuff in the closets because of the smell. They said my home was a demo but if I knew it was gonna be like that, I would’ve changed it out to a new carpet. They were also supposed to do a power wash. I was said that was done but it wasn't strong enough to clean the mobile home like it should have been. Also, when the hurricane came through, I had damage to my home. When I was first checking on it, they told me I didn't have coverage. When I touched base with the home office, they said I did have coverage. Those were the only things that I didn't like.

Clayton, this home industry, is unique in that they have people that sell the home, and they have people that build the homes. The people that sell the home were great. If we're specifically talking about Clayton Homes, the folks in Hattiesburg, Mississippi did an excellent job. They did everything that they said they would. Some of the items were not done correctly and Clayton still said that they promised us that, and that's what they would do. As far as dealing with them, I didn't have issues.
However, the people that built the home were not so great. The people who've moved the home set it up incorrectly. It was not leveled. They had to come back and level it up and that delayed it. Then the people who came in for Clayton that did the trim out of the home did a pretty good job. Now, there's another group that has been in here from the manufacturer and they are due back within a week or so to finish up, some countertops weren't right. There were a lot of items in the home that needed repair and Clayton couldn't control what product was sent. They were excellent that when they were here and they did very good work. They'd do anything we ask them to. The young man that worked with us, Brian, was remarkably good at what he does and he learned a lot through his past experiences. He was a super nice guy.

I love our Clayton home. As far as the process, it was longer than what we had hoped for. We ran into some hiccups. I live right on Missouri-Arkansas border. We bought the home from Arkansas. Right across the border was the closest one. We had to haul it because the people there didn't have a license to haul it to Missouri. Then, getting all that taken care of, from the time we close the loan and signed all the papers, the house was sitting on the lot. It wasn't pre-ordered. It was just a model there on the lot. From the time we signed the papers to when they got their money, it was still over four months before our home was brought here. But once the home was here, then we were very happy with it. The home was great.

Clayton Homes got awesome people. They were very nice and very helpful in any questions that we had. Mike was outstanding. I kept in touch with him on what was going on. He would call me and let me know what they were needing, and I would get what they needed. The only thing is, right now, we're having problems getting them to come out and put the trim up that's missing in the house. Other than that, it's great. The home is beautiful.
I'd recommend Clayton and as a matter of fact, I sold a home while I was up there, and they took care of me. I was up there looking around and showing my friend some homes because she was looking too. I was like, "If y'all would ike, I've got the keys. Y'all can walk with us and I'll show you around." Before I went to Clayton Homes, I have done my research. I came across some other nice homes but the people at Clayton Homes, whenever I talked to them, they really drew my attention because they didn't hesitate to answer any questions I had. They were right there whenever I had a question. I went to the place right down the road from them and they were like, "Oh, yeah, the houses are unlocked. You can go look or whatever." They never offered to come out and walk with us. Whenever I went up to Clayton, they were like, "Well, you can go look and I'll be out there in just a few minutes." And they were out there.
I was very pleased with them. The customer's experience is what makes the company and the customer is supposed to come first. The other place we went to, for the same house, they were wanting a whole lot more. I was like, "Wait a minute." It was built from the same manufacturer. Clayton is not cheap but you're getting a better bang for your buck.

The experience with Clayton Homes was terrible and overwhelming. I felt I was bothering them. I had to push and prod for paperwork to be turned in. I ended up running most of the paperwork and contacting people myself. The house sat out here for over a month with no support under it. When the brick people came, it took them two weeks to brick a single wide, where my guys building my deck were done in a day. I still have cracks in my ceilings. I still have crooked walls. The windows are crooked. I can open them maybe an inch. I still have damage to my floors that the manufacturer is supposed to come out and fix and has not. Clayton never did a closing walkthrough with me until after I started calling and reporting problems. The guy came out and he said they'd get that fixed. We've been in here since August and they still ain't done.
They had been out once and the guys worked for a few days. The guys they sent out were from South Carolina. The one day they were supposed to come, their truck blew up and that was when we told them we’d wait till after the holidays. I haven't heard a word back from them since. Two weeks ago, I called Clayton's office and they were supposed to reach out to the manufacturer for me, and, of course, that didn't happen. I called the manufacturer this morning and I'm waiting to hear back as to when someone's coming.
I've been making a mortgage on a house that still ain't right. I just want my house straight. If I didn't like it so much, I'da called them and told them to come get the damn thing by now. It’s beyond frustrating. It’s enough to piss off the Pope. Clayton Homes should return phone calls, follow through with promises and hire competent people to do paperwork. It's just a single wide and I didn't spend $200,000 with them but this is my home. I should be just as important as those who are spending $200,000 and $300,000.

The salesman, Aaron, showed us two houses. It was the Delight and the Bliss. We needed the shortest one for our lot so we chose the Bliss. The process went well. We'd first looked at it, then we looked at other ones. I told them I'd be back. They told me a price which was almost $3,000 lower than anyone else. We sat down with the manager and he explained everything to us. He had the document in front of him and we read through it all. It was simple and he was very upfront with us. It was quick too.
For the most part, the quality is good. We like the flooring in it though there are a few nail heads sticking up in the floor that you can kind of see it. The walls are fine. They seem to be insulated well. The windows are good too. But some parts of the house are cheaply done. Right now, the doors are warping which is disappointing 'cause it's cold. We've already had to replace both faucets in the house. Some of the door handles loosen up about every couple of months where they screw together in the door itself. If I were the manufacturer, I would try to upgrade my door handles and faucets. Those are something that you use daily. It should be something that's not cheaply done. It's a mechanical device. Clayton and the place that built it are two different entities but it's all part of the business deal.
Overall, we're happy with the home and Clayton's done us good. I've been impressed with their service and how they've treated us. They were going to send a guy to come put the faucets in but I told them, "I don't want anybody in the house. Can you guys just put that money on a purchase card and I'll go and update the fixture that I want and put it in myself?" They honored that which I thought was nice of them given the pandemic.

We bought the land and the house and it already had a septic system in it. They went in and they put in all new pipes. When they did that, they had one of the pipes going into the tank brought up against the wall. So we had a major issue with it backing up because it wasn't draining into the tank. They had their septic system guys come out and snake it. But that only fixed the problem for a week and then it was backing up again. This went on for three weeks before they sent a second company out to look at it and they had to dig it up and cut the pipes so it would drain into the tank. But their reps were nice and did a good job. They also explained things very well.

Clayton Homes is much better than others. There is one lady in that office. Her name is Donna. She was great and she treated everyone the same. I can really vouch for her. I love my house. I’m very happy with my trailer. When you get a hold of Donna and the right people over there on I-10, they can follow through and they will make your life so much better.

When trying to get them out to look at it my sales person who has no knowledge in home sales, I was told they had no handy man to look at it this time. I would not recommend anyone buy a Clayton home, it is the biggest regret for myself!

Clayton Homes is close to where I used to live and seeing good reviews when I did some research, I decided to go with them. Any questions I had, they answered. The whole process was simple and smooth. The only issue we had was with the company that delivered the home, set it up and put it on the concrete slab, where it wasn't completely centered. That wasn't Clayton's fault though. Overall, we liked the interior of the home. We liked the size of the bathroom and the vaulted ceilings. Those are a few of the things that stood out.

I liked Clayton Homes' financing options. There was another home that we liked at another lot. It was just a little bit better than what Clayton had, but we didn't come to terms on financing. Since Clayton was able to help us out, we went with them. This was our first go with buying a home ourselves. Everything seemed to go pretty smoothly. We had the option to customize. What they had on the lot was pretty well what we were looking for, so we didn't change a whole lot. We did a few extra little things like we upgraded to 2x6 walls, not 2x4 walls and had an extra couple outlets added here and there. They worked with us pretty good. The quality of the build is decent. There are a few little things I'd like to have seen differently. I understand it is a mobile home. I understand it's a generally cheaper build than like a stick-built house. But I thought what was in it was gonna be a slightly higher quality than what we got.
The home consultant, Teresa, did pretty good. There was a couple of small miscommunications but Clayton came through on it. They didn't leave us hanging on anything. So, as far as that, I'm pretty satisfied, especially for being Teresa's first go at doing this. A little better clarity would have been better but at the same time, I understand it was her first sale and there's a learning curve whenever it's somebody's first time through something like that. Also, a lot of miscommunication was probably on our part. We didn't know what to look for or what to double-check.

Our salesman, Bill, worked with us for a while till we found the exact right home and I'm very satisfied. We weren't gonna buy anything just to buy something. We wanted what we wanted. As he soon as he saw it, he knew that would be the home for us, so he called me and I came to look. I drove 80 miles to shop with him. Bill knew what I'd been looking at. I almost pulled the trigger on a Fleetwood and didn't. The craftsmanship wasn't there. Once I started looking at the Clayton built homes, compared to the Fleetwood homes, it was like a difference between a Chevrolet and a Cadillac. They're both good, but the thing that stuck out to me was the laminate on the countertops fit perfectly in the Clayton homes and there's an 8-inch gap in the Fleetwood. You notice the little things like that.
All in all, I've been very happy not just with the salesman, but even with the management. When we had one small issue, I called Clayton Homes and it was taken care of within two hours. I'm in the service industry (I'm a salesman too) and it's hard to get that kind of service anymore. That's why anybody that's looking for a home, I'll give them Bill's name and number.

When I bought my home in may, it took me forever to get Clayton to replace the front door. There was a guy out of Junction City who did the repair work and it's still not correct. Also, when they took the furniture out of the home when I was sitting down here in Wichita, they dragged something across the front living room carpet and cut a line all the way through from the master bedroom to the front door. I still haven't had the carpet replaced.
I bought the home without a master bathroom door because Clayton knew they were gonna replace it. They finally sent somebody out the replace the bathroom door but he knocked the replacement over before he installed it, hit the TV which then put a hole in the door. He put the door on and said that he would fix it. That was the last time I saw him and that was five months ago. I don't know who I need to go through for any more repairs. I paid for a five-year warranty, and I'm still in question how long it takes to get something repaired. My experience with dealing with Clayton was fine but I can't get the work done. When they installed the AC the guy who came out said that I have a problem underneath the manufactured home but I have to have a work order. I can't get a work order done for the problem.

The home buying process with Clayton was okay and that went pretty smoothly. Our rep was Ronald and he did a really good job helping us whenever we needed help. But the time frame in which things got done was a little deceiving as it took a lot longer than they told us. But other than that, I would tell others that the process to purchase the home usually goes well. It's the setup and the time frame in which things actually get completed that they would need to watch out for.

I had visited a couple other places but they didn't have the selection like they did at the Clayton Homes in Dalton where we purchased ours from. We also considered finding the closest dealer and Clayton Homes had that. When we went up to the place there in Dalton, their rep, Chris, went over everything he could to answer any questions. We found a home that we really loved and it was one of the nice ones on the front of the lot. But with the bedrooms on the left side, the master was going to be mine and my husband's, but we needed more space on one side. So we added on an extra bedroom, then we combined two of those bedrooms and made a large master bedroom for my mother that was to live with us. Chris helped us with that.
Then, we paid our down payment so they would get started and it took them a while to make our home. It was on my birthday, in May, that it arrived to the store for us to go look at it. So the process started from the end of November all the way to May. But that was understandable with the COVID virus slowing everything down. Then for Christmas, they closed for two weeks, which we knew about beforehand. So the process took a little longer than we thought but our expectations may not have been realistic given today's circumstances with the virus.
So we went and looked at the home that they made in May, then it was June 1st that it was delivered on our property. After that, it was end September when we moved in and a lot of that was due to a lot of rain we were having, so it was hard to get things quickly. There were also a few times when I felt like the communication with Clayton's reps could have been better. But as a new person doing something like that, I was just a little insecure.
So far, we're very happy with the home and it feels like a solid one. We've been through one really bad storm, the effects of that last hurricane, and we were nervous because it was our first storm in it. Fortunately, the home's out in the field and the woods are backed off from us, so we didn't have to worry about trees falling on us. But we were nervous because the winds got pretty hard for Georgia. Still, we didn't feel like we needed to leave and go get somewhere safer. The home held up really good and there was no damage to it at all. The air conditioning and the heat seem to be really efficient, too. I'm happy with our electric bill. It went up a little this past month, but that's because it's been so cold. But the home seems to be very comfortable and a cozy place. It’s such a pretty home and it has the little built-in front porch on it with the stones on the column. We get a lot of compliments on it.

The quality of the home was fair but I've had a few issues and they're slow about fixing them. But they said it’s due to the COVID. Other than that, I’d recommend that they stapled their trim on better in their trailers. That's one of the issues I have as my trim pops off easy. It seems like there was no structure in the buying process of Clayton Homes. I had to constantly ask what was going on or try to get things figured out because there was no real communication or how is this going to happen type of thing. As an example, our sales rep didn't tell us that we needed our address until after closing. I came to find out about it only after speaking with the lenders, when I finally got ahold of them. I also had an issue trying to get ahold of and speak with them. It just seemed I was the one who was trying to get things done. And when I would ask our sales rep, he would just tell me that we were fine and that we didn't need the address.
I also dealt with Patrick there and he was great. Whenever we spoke with him or we had questions, he would help us immediately. Their rep Shirley was amazing as well. Anytime I've needed something, she jumped right on it and got it taken care of for me. But whoever built our house just slapped it together, so there are still some issues with it. But Shirley's been great trying to get everything in order for us and trying to go above and beyond for us. There are something that she's not going to be able to help us get or to fix, but she's sure trying. All in all, I would recommend others to go through another Clayton Homes location. Or if there was a different sales rep there to help, then I would send them to that location again, as long as they didn't have to work with that one sales rep.

Our experience was a little bit crazy. When we purchased this home, I negotiated that I would do the grave work and the underpinning myself because I thought the water was going to get hooked up. I put a new pump in and I thought that they were gonna have my water going without me having to do anything. After it all went in, the guys showed up and they buried a waterline and left the electrical wire there. I was kind of upset that I still have to hook up my water. I’ve hauled water for so long. It meant so much to me. I felt like I kind of got blindsided. But that's the only problem I had. The guy was great. He really helped me out in getting me the home. But I don't think that he knew what he was even talking about.

The people up at Clayton Homes are really nice. They worked with us. Everything we talked about, they pretty much did. The only real problems we had was when the movers bent the hitch and they couldn't move the trailer. I took off work to move that trailer in. That night, the movers called and said they weren't moving it. They pretty much had other things to do. They said their guys walked out, which I think was a lie. So, we hounded the trailer place until they found somebody to move it. Then, they got it out there. Then, they bent the hitch. So, they maneuvered it into my yard and left it there for a couple of days and finally moved it where it was supposed to go.
Another thing was in the finance part. After all the closing stuff was done, there would be a phone call. When we got the phone call, we’d set up if it’s gonna be a bi-weekly or weekly. But then, they called my wife and said, “Oh, no, ma'am. You were supposed to do that when they did the closing at the office.” I don't know if they ever got it straightened out or not. But it was one of the big things that went off.
They're gonna have to come out and do some ceiling work because the home's finally settling and the ceiling’s cracking. Those trailer hitch tongues are pretty much specially-made for these trailer houses because it’s an 18 wide. The movers bent ours and you can’t use it. We were told that the mobile home people’s gonna give us a new one. Then, they said, “No, we're not.” We fought with them. We finally got one. They brought it out, but it’s not underneath the trailer like it’s supposed to be. It’s up against our fence because they've already bricked it up and screwed it. You would have to unbrick to stick it under there. Still, Clayton Homes was really good overall.

Our Clayton Homes salesperson was great. The model wasn't the one we picked. But considering everything going on, it was the only one available at that time. With everything going on with COVID, the salesperson did a really good job when it’s to help us get this done and put in. I do have a ton of issues with the finished product. The trim is already falling off. There are bubbles in the wall. We've had issues with this since the first day. All the countertops are peeling up. Yet, the Clayton guys have come and fixed a couple of things, but with the countertops, one of the guys mumbled something about having to get in touch with Clayton so they could have the manufacturer come out. We haven't heard anything else.
We're currently working with our salesperson to get scheduled to have some people come out. It's just been really hard because my husband had COVID, and then it's picked up here. So, we've been kind of leery about who's coming in. But there are things that need to be repaired. Like where they joined the living room and the kitchen together, there's a whiteboard and half of it is already coming off the wall. It's like the home didn't settle completely the way it should. My salesperson, though, has been really good about responding to me with the stuff that I've been sending him. It's just trying to make sure because now the rest of us are still in quarantine for 14 days to make sure we don't have the illness, and then getting scheduled.
On my doorframe in the master bedroom, you can see a gap. When you’re laying down and you look through it, you can see through it. The trim on some of the baseboards are coming off. My biggest complaint is I know they use staples, but I think one person went staple happy because there’s literally a strip in my room and it looks like there’s about an 80-inch on this one strip and there’s nothing but staples. The first person they sent out here put the house too far back. So, that whole backyard is ruined. Then, the inspector later moved the house. They had to ruin the whole front yard to put in the septic. That’s a big issue because where they covered the septic, it’s got a huge sinkhole. The dirt’s caving in there. So, I have to let my salesman know that, too.
Getting out here is kinda hard because when it rains, it's muddy. So, it's just trying to find the right time. But I can text him anytime and he'll respond. He'll text me periodically. It's just the whole COVID thing, trying to get the weather to cooperate, and then getting everybody out here at the same time to get things done. The major issue to me is the countertops are still bubbling and I thought it was because the house set and it was hot, but they never went back down. It's like they all need to be replaced and it's every countertop in here. Then, my master bedroom will be freezing. My daughter's bedroom doesn't seem to get any airflow. It's super hot in her room even with the air on. The two back rooms are that way. I have to have somebody look at that.

I was originally gonna build a stick home, but due to the cost and timing, I decided to go with a manufacturer home. After reading about four different home builders, I felt Clayton would have the best building materials that I'm looking for and I like their quality of craftsmanship. I did most of my research myself. I told them what I wanted. I didn't go in there too dumbfounded. I already knew what I wanted. I went like on February 3rd, and by end of June, the house was delivered, which was actually quicker than what I was told it was going to be.
As far as the home, I did have some issues with them coming and doing the touch-ups. I wasn't very happy with the molding. I have to have them come over twice. But I come to find out that these guys just hire anybody off the street, which I wasn't too crazy about. They subcontract. I finally got one guy that I did like. I have used him on a personal basis with other work. Overall, the experience was great. I would recommend Clayton to someone else. I bought a midgrade home. I'm content with it. And then, we had great smooth sailing since.
After we've been here, everything is so poorer or poor. The walls were insane. The gaps in the drywall and the hundreds of tiny little pin nails in the wall seemed more work than just doing a good drywall. We have two windows that are leaking a bit. I've had a couple of roofing shingles I needed to get renailed down. But we bought the cheapest house so we knew we were getting into some work as we moved in too. But there was more than I originally thought there would be. The biggest thing was the walls. The walls were discouraging and very difficult to deal with. The house was $70,000. And that's all wired up, HVAC, and it's a four-bedroom. The value for what we paid was more than fair. The manufacturer could have put more effort.

We liked Brock, the guy that was selling the Clayton home to us. The home-buying process was smooth overall. After we had got approved for the home, it took so long because of COVID. Brock did his best. But he only could do what he was allowed to. We found out other things from other parts of it like the finance people. They had lied to us. It has nothing to do with Brock at all. He told us everything and what he told us was true.
My wife was also saying that when we had this home, we had purchased it with the agreement that they're supposed to come in and clean it and that they were supposed to have it to where it was like a clearinghouse where everybody comes in and congratulates who comes into your home. None of that happened. We cleaned it ourselves. Nobody came to the house but to set it up, run the water, get it set up, and leave. We had promises that we would be reimbursed for permits that we put out there. No one reimbursed us for it. We were told that we were going to be given a $500 gift card. We have not seen that card. We were told that we would have a $500 check. We did not see that thing. There were so many things that they promised us that did not happen. Most of that was on a guy by the name of Clay.
Right now, we're better off since we're dealing with West Monroe. They've really communicated with us really well. The issue we had was that lot in Monroe was closing down when we went through buying ours. So, Brock’s hands were tied. They laid off all the service people and closed down. He was there by himself. So, he did everything he could possibly do.
Now, they moved into West Monroe. We've had issues with the house. They've done what they said they would do. If they didn't get the materials in, Both Cathy and Brock has called me and said, “Look materials didn't come in.” I'm good with that because Brock has not really lied to us at all. Cathy and Brock along with the service guy, Scott, have really went out of their way to make us happy. But then, Clay lied to us about everything. Brock apologized for him.

The buying the house at the showroom that day was great. The rep knew what he was talking about, and was very helpful. What we're having problems with is warranty issues. We've had to have Clayton come back out several times and fix some things. And then it just seems to be like a return process of them fixing stuff. They would fix it and then they would have to come back and fix it again. And then the guy they keep sending out is not very knowledgeable at what he is doing.
Hi Brian, thank you so much for reaching out and sharing this feedback with us. We definitely want you to have a wonderful experience throughout the warranty period. We understand your frustrations, and we will communicate this to the team you're working with.

The home was on a piece of property that we were looking at. It was a brand new home on brand new property. And it fit what we needed. I had a real estate agent that had it. He was great. But he did forewarn me about Clayton Homes. It was horse property. It was 1.37 acres, in a nice spot. The kids agreed on it, we agreed on it. So, we went ahead and got it. But I'm a little disappointed in the way it was made. To pay that much for a modular home, the quality and craftsmanship feels awful. I let Clayton know. Maureen, the lady that does the booking and checks in on me all the time because they have the year warranty on it, is Johnny-on-the-spot. But it doesn't matter. When they come out, they never fully fix the problem right. They are supposed to come out and fix everything. I'll see how that goes.

Clayton Homes was recommended by a family member. The process took a couple of months. Because sometimes, I was like, “No, I can't pay that much.” They worked with me and then that was when we closed. There was carpet in some of the rooms. But I wanted no carpet in any room. I let them know, and they did. They are coming out in January because one of the panels on the floor in the living room isn’t on right. And you can hear it whenever you step on a certain spot of it. They are gonna come out and fix that. And then, there were some parts of the floor where it was torn. It's not like actual wood. And some parts were lifting, but they said with the AC, it would be better. But it’s like a big bubble. They said that they are going to come in and fix that. But it wouldn't be until the end of January. Other than that, everything went well. I like my room, and I also like that have my own bathroom.

Buying my home was smooth and fast. I would have wanted to get like a tape-and-texture home instead of a panel home. This was in the middle of COVID. The sales lady I was working with got laid off so the manager had to take over. But everything was good.

We had a great experience with Clayton Homes. I loved it. The guy who worked with us was a good person and he answered all of our questions. He met our expectations too like what we were looking for. If I had any concerns after getting the home, I knew I could contact them and they would be able to help and provide for me. If I remembered something wrong, they would correct me. Overall, there was good communication. Sometimes there are some people that aren't satisfied with what they get or they thought they were gonna get this then there's an argument. I didn't have that with Clayton.

I was looking at the models that Clayton had and I liked them. They were easy to work with so I was happy. Their reps were very helpful and they got us what we needed. They made sure the process went smoothly and in a timely manner. Everything was new. We did a little bit of customization and added on a more expensive kitchen island. The house is built very well and the quality is nice. I was very satisfied.

Clayton was wonderful people. They made sure they did everything they promised me. They made sure I was happy before I signed anything and they also made sure everything was set up in my lot. The rep was wonderful. He would call me and let me know everything. They let me know that the place I was moving my home to is safe. They made sure the gravel was put out. Being a Veteran, I expected to have some problems but I had none. The process was six weeks from the beginning to finish. It's a nice home and I'm enjoying it. I want to wish all the employees a Merry Christmas. I am a satisfied customer, and I would send in a Veteran there. I'm 76 years old and they made me so pleased that I can't do anything but tell anybody else that.

The rep helped us through the process and we spoke to him almost daily. I was very satisfied with the home buying process as well as with the rep. There were a few issues and Clayton was on it almost as soon as they were brought to their attention. They were very good. The quality of the build is wonderful and I would recommend Clayton. People should speak to the representative who helped us or anybody there.

I just moved here to Tennessee and the price of homes was just crazy. I couldn’t afford them. Clayton was the cheapest way to go for a place to live. The consultant, Beverly, was good, very friendly, and she covered all the bases. I just had to have them come out a couple of times and fix a few things in the home. A lot of it was trim not being stapled down correctly. The toilets were crooked. They came out and fixed those. In the master bath, there were cracks in the grout on the corners and it was from shifting where it was being moved. They corrected that. There was a backdoor that was damaged and they replaced the backdoor too.
The gentleman that has been coming out to repair the issues wasn't very friendly at first. He just came in and did his thing. But the last time he came, he was more friendly. I was telling him things that needed to be fixed. He said he had to order the part. I had to stay on top of it and I had to keep calling Beverly telling her that the guy was supposed to come out and fix this. The smoke alarm was not in the master bedroom and he had to bring one of those.

My husband and I went to Hawks Homes and we explained everything to them and how much we'd like to pay them. They said to go look at whatever we wanted. We went out and we looked at all these beautiful homes that they had. We went back and we got all the plans for the different ones that we were looking at. They said they could help us. They got our hopes up then said they couldn't hep us. We never bought anything off the lot and we were written off.
We were driving to Conway and we saw the Clayton Homes sign. You hear that name, you think about it, and you want to go check it out. We told the rep Rachal what what we were looking for and how much we were looking to spend a month. My husband and I live paycheck to paycheck. Rachel gave us a little map of their lot and said we could look at houses that would be within our price range. We did that and we got exactly what we wanted for the exact amount of price that we were able to pay a month. We used Clayton for that fact that Rachel pointed us in the right direction knowing that we have never done this before and not knowing what to expect and what to look for.
Every time I call Rachel, she called me back and was very prompt. Whenever we made the punch list, they had it ready. They had somebody out there to fix whatever problems we had. If I sent Rachel a text for any kind of question, she promptly texted me back. If she wasn’t there, there was somebody there that could answer the questions that we had. They had really excellent customer service. Overall we're very much impressed with them. We absolutely love our home too. We wanted all wood floors and didn't want any carpet anywhere. We didn’t want to have to wait five or six months for different colors so we did the color of the one Clayton had ready on the lot, which is okay because we liked it.

Everything went great. It was a nice, smooth deal. For the money, being a little single-wide, it's a pretty tight little house so far. We plan on upgrading to a bigger kitchen sink and stuff real soon. Kim was my sales lady and she was more than nice. She even asked how we were doing and how we liked the house. The guy that came down and did the little touchups here and there was helpful as well.
Thank you so much, William! We're so glad that you chose Clayton Homes for your home buying needs. We truly appreciate it.
