The home-buying process was fast. They were trustworthy enough to entrust all the personal things that we were going through at the time, and all the things that we needed in a home. They found that for us, and everything's been great, so far. Any issues that we've had, they've been out here to fix them in a timely manner.
Thank you so much for sharing your buying experience, Isabel!

Our salesperson, Nick, was amazing. He did a lot for us. I love my Clayton home. However, when it comes to the closet, they've probably been a lot better if they weren't plastic. We put too much weight on one, and it snapped out.

The craftsmanship of the Clayton home itself is not very good. You walk through and see a bowed wall. Right here in the living room that connects to the bedroom, there's a hole in the wall like a gap from where they don't meet up exactly where they're supposed to meet up. You could see light shining through to the other side. The material used is very poor quality. The trim work is already peeling. Some of the paper has come off the cabinet already. The flooring is very thin. I understand that it’s a fairly cheap house, but still, it’s $120,000. But David was a great representative and helped me with a lot of issues. He was there every step of the way.
We appreciate your feedback regarding the quality of your home, Isaac. We will use this to better improve our building processes.

Clayton Homes had a four-bedroom home that would fit our daughter's family. Their reps were very informative and speedy on every transaction. Their customer service was superb. But we haven't gotten in the home yet. We've had quite a bit of rain and we can't fault anybody by that. Other than that, I'd give credit to guys who helped us through their teamwork. They were Josh, Sea Breeze , New Hanover.

The water temperature was not getting hot enough and there were a couple of other issues that I had to get the techs to come out and work on. I texted Matt because I work night shift and he was really easy to communicate with. McKenna was too, but more or less over email instead. They helped me get everything fixed up. Now, the lock on our back sliding door went bad, so they got us one on order for that.

Jerry was the guy who sold me the home, and he was really helpful and patient. We've gone to other places before, and this one was different. You could tell he wasn't just trying to make the sale. He was like, “Yeah. Take your time, man. Call me any time. Text me any time,” which was really cool. The process with Clayton was easy and understandable. We like everything about our new home. It's really nice, really well done, and we've only found little details here and there. It's just little touch-ups. Foundation-wise, the home is really good.

We had several family members who had recently bought from Clayton Homes who recommended them. So, we had been searching their website for different homes just to see what they had available. We ended up going with them because they had a particular house that was on sale so it was within our price range, and we fell in love with it. We selected a single wide home, which was not originally part of the plan. We were looking for a double wide when we first started looking but with the current COVID situation and price increases of everything, that was not something that we were able to afford at the time. So, I really felt like I was settling for a single wide but when my husband found this one on the Clayton website and put it to me, I fell in love. It literally checked all of my boxes and the fact that it was on sale was a plus.
The people from Clayton explained everything really well and they were very kind. I am pretty impressed with the quality of the home. We did have a couple of issues that came up where we had to call and have them come back out to address issues but as far as the overall quality, I'm pretty happy with it for the price point. It's a good deal.
Working with Clayton has very positively impacted us. I'm super grateful for the location that we ended up selecting as far as the Clayton Homes store. We used the one in Conroe, Texas. I have never experienced customer service like I did. Their manager at that location is incredible. They went above and beyond. I would definitely recommend Clayton.
Thank you for your kind words, Larissa! We are so happy that you found a home you love and the process was seamless.

Clayton Homes was good about telling me what I needed to do and where I needed to show up. We had a little bit of a delay, but that was because of me. The Clayton Homes in Jasper did fairly well. The realtor did an excellent job and he was very relatable. He broke it down a lot better than the one in Anniston did. He worked with us and explained things in a much simpler way. I got a really nice home but there were a few things that were falling apart. The trim was flimsy but that got fixed. Also with the house settling, the doors started to not close well. But that's expected.

When I went to buy this mobile home, I knew what I was going to hunt. Due to covid, it was hard finding places that had trailers ready to go. Clayton was the second place I went to that day. When I went in there, the rep, Jason, had one trailer and I chose it. He gave me a ballpark figure on how much this mobile home would cost and I was good with that. He said, "I cannot get an exact figure until I send my guy out to look at the spot and see what we're gonna have to do." This was a Friday, so I knew it'd be the following week before they could do it. Monday morning, my bank called me and asked me if I picked a different trailer than what we talked about. The banker said, "Jason sent a bid in. I'm good with it if you are." I asked what Jason sent in. He said it was around 72,000 without taxes. He sent a bid in for $80,000-something to my bank.
I got off the phone with my banker and called Jason back. I asked, "How did you send a bid in when you've not even sent anybody out to look at the property." I asked to talk to Eric, the manager. He apologized, told me Jason was young, and that he would take care of it. I took them a cashier's check for my home. They got my trailer delivered but I didn't have my keys. When I called back up there, they said, "You don't get your keys until this happens and we got procedures we go through." I said, "No. I own that trailer. I paid you for it. I own it." Eric made them bring my keys out.

The home-buying process at Clayton was awesome. It was very stress-free and quick. I was shocked at how quickly it went. I went in there one day just looking and filled out the application on a whim and got approved. The next thing I know, I was going to close and moved in within a month later. The rep I worked with was Tina. She was a sweetheart. The one thing I liked about her was that every time I had a question, like when I had to take care of the water, she always responded right back to me, very promptly. I didn't have to wait. I’m very pleased with the way it went. The house has three bedrooms and two baths. However, underneath the cabinets in the kitchen, there's no shelf. It's just a cabinet. I would prefer a shelf.

We were looking at a couple of dealers and Clayton looked like it was much better. They gave us a very good deal because we paid for a mobile home in cash and not a loan. The people were very friendly and polite. The quality of this home is not 100% like when you build a house on a property. But compared to the other mobile homes, our home is the best quality that I know. The only thing is to open the window in the kitchen area and in the master bedroom toilet because those are not open. We will probably change these in the future because we really need to have the open window because we need fresh air anyway, especially for disabled people. Also, people came about a week ago to do a repair. The back door was not closing properly. There was also a problem with the locker because it was not possible to use it. The people repaired everything and right now, it's good but it's still not perfect.

Deborah from Clayton Homes helped me make arrangements to move from Southern California to Northern California, and she was very patient because it took a while for me to sell my mobile home from Southern California then I transitioned to the one in Northern California. So, it was a great experience and it went really smooth. The whole process took four to five months. I got a very nice home from them but it didn't come with a little linen closet. So, I had to make room in my kitchen to accommodate my linen. Also, I got a brand-new refrigerator and the compressor went out completely. But we were able to get the repair people to come out to replace it and the process was pretty easy.

Clayton has fine people. The only thing was the presentation of the house was a little lengthy and there were no chairs to sit on. The home itself is fine. The foundation they put it on is questionable because it's wooden. They should have put it on cement because it would have kept the mice out. I had a mouse problem afterward. They didn't seal it up very well, and they had a bump in the floor. They came out and fixed that. That was nice. I'm having a problem with the outdoor faucet. It's leaking when it's on. So, we have to call him for that. Other than that, they've been really good.

Clayton Homes gave me a deal I couldn't pass up on. I worked with Jonathan and he was straight to the talking points. That was what I asked from the start and he didn't hesitate. His knowledge on the homes was what I needed. He explained to me the differences between a home and a mobile home, what I should be looking at, and never hesitated to show me the actual home that I would be purchasing. He ensured that the deal was exactly what he was selling and was with me for even signing of the contract.
The buying process was very quick. It took about two days, but primarily on my part because I had to cancel due to work. But as soon as we made the deal, they had all the paperwork ready then we went in for a meeting and we went through. It took about an hour and it worked out fantastic. The one year warranty has stuck to the gun, too. They've helped me fix a leak in the home and to maintain the home throughout the first six months of living here.

Clayton Homes has been around for a while. And they've made a bigger name for themselves over the last few years. Standardizing mobile homes is what they've done. So, they built them to a standard and of forced everybody else trying to build them to stick to a standard. We settled here in south Tennessee. And the market drove me to look at one a little less expensive, because everybody was looking for way above market. The manufactured homes that Clayton had may have gone up in price, but they didn't do the three-fold, what traditional housing was doing.
I looked at the specs of a normal house. They probably do the same exact thing. I'm building exactly the same thing if I would have built my own house and did the same thing. So, I might have had a different pitch on my roof. But the standards of this house is the same almost exactly, if not better. I believe they're built in a factory. They're built, sustained inside an enclosed environment. You're not leaving your wood outside, getting saturated while you build. I had manufactured before. I've messed around with a couple of different ones, even in Alaska. They vary now since HUD is involved and the standards of housing has gone up.
They’re stick-built houses is what they really are. They're just brought in in two pieces and put together. I'm very happy with this one here. Not to mention the Athens Clayton home distributor. They care about their individual reputations. And they care about what they're doing. Richard, the engineer. And Alex, the salesperson. They were so personal. They didn't stress anybody out and didn’t put anybody under pressure. They know they can sell houses. When I made that decision, they were more interested in making sure that I selected them for a reason. So they carried out that reason.
Richard was the PM for the project. He kept me informed. I don't know if anybody even understands what it's like to try to get anything done right now, in the last three years since COVID. And parts and people, getting people to the right place to do the right thing, AC guys, power guys, dirt guys, all that. It's practically impossible. But this guy was on top of it. I knew he had probably 20 other customers and running around for 20 other people, but he made me feel like I was the most important one he had. It was an overall good experience.
Most people freak out when they come to buy these things. They think they're getting ripped off, or they think something's gonna happen. Or maybe it does happen. They don't pay attention sometimes to the time that it takes. And I was fortunate because Clayton had this model. It just came in and they were using it as a show model, and I talked them out of it.
Thank you so much for sharing your feedback, Jon! We appreciate you taking the time to share your detailed experience in purchasing a Clayton Home.

Clayton was the only one that had the model that we wanted that was closest to us. The process didn't take a really long time. It was easy and we did it over a tablet. We knew our answer quickly, we picked out the one we wanted, and we went with it. It is the Breeze model and the layout is different than the rest. It's so good. Normally when you walk in the front door in most single-wide mobile homes, your hallway is on the right and the rooms are to the left. In this one, you come in through the kitchen instead of the living room, which I like. The hallway is on the far side of the room on the left side and the rooms are on the right side.
I only wish Clayton would have taken a little more time for the build and got details a little better such as where the staples were put in on the walls for the trim. It was just little hole spots in it. And in some of the spots down towards the floor, you can see where the fuzzy part of the rug sticks up past the flooring part. That aside, I've been recommending Clayton to some people that are looking to buy a home. My brother is looking for a place too and I told him to go down there. The people down in Anniston that we dealt with and the whole process were good.
Laura, we really appreciate you taking the time to share your feedback. We are so happy that you had a wonderful experience, and we will be sharing your input with our builders.

The buying process with Clayton wasn't terrible. Trying to get everything situated and getting everything here, it was what I was looking forward to. But it seemed like the house got there and it kept being one little thing one after another. It got to be a drawn-out process. We had some issues with the blinds people trying to get them out and I've still got issues with the blinds as of today that still haven't gotten fixed. Clayton could have had somebody else come in here and fix it, and quit dealing with those people. We've had a lot of issues with contractors but the rep has been helpful and try to keep us updated, for the most part. I haven't heard from her in a while but I haven't reached out myself in a while because I've been by myself working.

My husband and I were looking at mobile homes for over a year at homes because we moved from Massachusetts to South Carolina. I had plenty of time to go through mobile home manufacturers. I knew the layout of our property so what would be the best way to get the layout that matches where the driveway needed to be, to where the entryway and back and forth? I spent tons of time on the Clayton website. We were at Clayton Homes out of Beaufort and the gentleman that we dealt with was absolutely stellar. His name is Lou and he wasn't high pressure. Any questions we had, he got back to us immediately. Any problems we had, we got an instant reaction and help. It was very positive customer support.
The Southern Belle is a very nice style house and I liked the layout. It has a lot of shiplap in the kitchen, a little in the living room, and a little in the master bathroom. I just got through painting all that because the home comes to you and it's all one color. I used a lighter blue in the laundry room and a very light gray throughout the living room and dining room area. I had some greens in the bedrooms and I used some dark colors on the shiplap in the master bath. It matches the countertops that we put in. That came out nicely. Our countertop has a spotted effect. There are a lot of grays and blacks in it and a little brown. This is a great home and we're loving it. There were a couple of bumps but we expected them. Clayton homes are very well-built and people are gonna be happy.

If you want to go bald in the process of getting into a new home this is the company to choose. So much has went wrong from damage to the exterior of the building, subpar interior trim work to a roof that looks more than 20 years old. Yes much of this will be fixed when? I have no idea. We had two roofers tell us that it needed a full replacement and Clayton Homes gave us the hardest time about it. That was a scary moment for my family having to buy a home then immediately get a new roof.
It's day two now of being moved in and the ac is not working. We were told it was the thermostat before anyone even came out. Due to our impatience we called someone and they came out immediately for us (why wouldn't clayton homes do this?). Our ac guy told us it had holes all in the copper tubing and that some valve was broken. We passed this information on and were greeted by nothing more than hostile attitude. I have 4 you children who are unable to stay in this home right now so we are sleeping on the floor of our in-laws. The reps at Clayton sold us on the home. They were awesome. Our rep, Steven, was fantastic. Even if I couldn't get ahold of him, he would always call me back within the next hour. The whole department was great. But the communication between us and the construction crew was not that great. Steven assured me multiple times though that it was just how it goes. And it made sense. I was very impressed with the delivery of the home. The only things we were waiting on that took the longest was the paperwork and getting the county certification but once the rep got out there, it was done very quickly.
We wanted a three bedroom, two bath and my wife in particular loved the pale green color with the dark wood trim. We love the windows and the sliding doors. It felt a lot more open than other mobile homes we had been in. We loved that they add so much light that come in the house. It was nice. The appliances all work fantastic. We have had a few hiccups here and there with some cabinet doors coming unhinged and the trim around a lot of the door frames have cracked or come undone. Aside from the superficial stuff, some of the ceiling panels are separating in the joists. I wanted to contact Clayton and see what we should do about that. But quality has been great, thus far.

The application with Clayton up to closing took two weeks so it wasn’t bad and everything went smoothly. But I had a problem getting them out to fix things that are wrong with the house. When I bought the home, it came with toilets in it but the toilet back was gone. We just got a new toilet yesterday that fits and had a toilet back on them. It took them quite a while to do that. I don't know if that was on their end or the people they order from or where they get the parts. When we first got to my home, all the trims were falling off. The reps had to come out and fix all that. Also, the back door was out of level and I had to fix that. The home’s quality can be a little better. But it's a new home, so you're gonna have problems.

He was a super nice guy and very easy to work with, and I would send people to him all day long. The setup crew was very nice but extremely slow. My home was brought in February 1st and I did not get moved in until March the 29th. Two months was extreme to get it in. But Justin, the guy I dealt with, was great and very friendly. And the quality of the Clayton home was very good.

The sales person, Corey, could have been more clear. He initially told us that the first payment wouldn't be due until it was 60 days after we moved in. But it was from the time that the loan was closed. But I love the home. It's exactly what we were looking for. It's a finished drywall home. Whenever we've had issues with drywall cracking and when the dishwasher latch wouldn't latch after the first few weeks we were in it, everybody's been responsive, for the most part. We've still got an issue with the shower floor but they have to outsource that. Clayton doesn't take care of that themselves.

I found this mobile home that I loved but couldn't get it in the time frame that I needed, so I went in to Clayton to see how they could help me. A girl there by the name of Jessica helped me. She was a rockstar. The way that she handled everything in regards to timeline was great. I was in my home very quickly in the time frame that I wanted. I was looking to get something that was on the lot, so all I had to worry about was side work. There was a home on the lot but it was not the best. It was bigger than this one. Jessica said, “We're getting this model and if you can wait, this home is a whole lot nicer than the one that you're purchasing.” She didn't want me to get into something that was a bare minimum trailer. She wanted me to get my place where this might be a home that I stay in for a minute.
I like the layout of the home. I love how big the kitchen is. I wish there was some more closet space and the framing inside the house would stand up to time. But I don't know if that's the way a trailer is. Some of the trim work is coming off and there are not a lot of studs within the home so you can't put anything heavy on a wall. I reached out to them about the air conditioner and one thing with the entryway into my kitchen. That had to be fixed. They came out and fixed it. Clayton Homes did an excellent job.

It was a seamless process. The sales associate was patient and answered every questions that we had. We went to a couple of different places and shopped around but didn't like the attitude of a lot of the sales reps at other places. They seemed to be very pressuring. I didn't have that experience at all with Clayton. I was working out of state so we did a lot of the process remotely and they were able to make accommodations to make that happen. The home made my fiancée happy. Some of the trim pieces can be put on there better and there are some minor things that come with a new home settling but it's nothing that a phone call to Clayton hasn't been able to get resolved.

The rep showed us the extravagant home and I almost bought it. I walked in there and I got immediately overwhelmed. That was how beautiful it was. But I chose a different home because I was going to turn it into a nursery. I have a couple of grandkids and I can put baby gates up, and that would be their play area. The home that I bought has a faux fireplace but the heat works in it. It has a blower and it’s colorful. The light changes. We have a living room and a family room, which is where the fireplace is. It was beautiful. I saw the living room and I knew I had to get some furniture immediately because that house wasn't worthy of my crappy furniture. I bought new furniture for that home. I absolutely love it.
The rep was very friendly, cooperative and helpful. He has a beautiful smile and a very lovely personality. Clayton was great. The build is good and the home is very well-insulated. I started with one salesman and ended with another one. And Clayton Homes didn't have a property planner at the time. So, everything was priced differently. They came, set the trailer and didn't even prepare the land first. They told me I had to pay for the tree removal and it was something that was supposed to have been included in my home loan condition. But they didn't do any tree work. They said, "We'll do the stuff and prepare it for the trailer," but they just came and set the trailer here after I had people move trees.
There's now a planner guy there who has been great. And three weeks ago, he sent someone out here to try to correct some of the drainage issues. He came and dug a little trench, and it's helping, but I still have lots of water pooling around my air condition. But the planner guy told me to call him and let him know if I was still having problems. So hopefully, he will come up with something else to fix it. Another issue I have is when I found the loan, a block foundation was supposed to be included in the trailer. They came and set the trailer, and after it was already here, they informed me that I would not get that block foundation either. So, if I had that block foundation that I was supposed to have had to begin with, I wouldn't have these drainage issues so bad either.
At one point in time, I considered telling the planner to come back, get the trailer and forget it, but I didn't want to have to start over with my loan company that I've already paid a $10,000 downpayment to and didn't care how that would work. So, I did this instead of building a home because it would hopefully be quick, but it took Clayton a year to get me into this after I had already been approved for the loan. It would have made a great deal if the guy that's there now as a planner would have been there before they came in and placed my trailer here. It might have gone differently.

I picked Clayton Homes because their homes look better than the other mobile home builder that I drive by. I wish I had looked for programs that would have paid my closing cost and for me to not put a downpayment before I started the process. But Every time I called the rep, he always responded even on weekends. One weekend, right when it was closing, I had called to ask where I was. He told me he was on vacation. But because he knew I wanted to know, he responded. So, I appreciate how well he was with the process. The home buying process is easy. But the product that you're gonna get is going to be the problem.
When I got my house, I didn't have a driveway. When I got the driveway, I had to argue with a couple of folks because it was placed where it was not supposed to be. When I chose the land, me and the guy who owned it agreed that my driveway will be on the right side. He said that it could be put over there. There is a ditch that runs down like a separation of the property on that side. And the landowner saw that. That had been there prior to me purchasing this and he said that it could go there. But when the grader came out, he said he was not dealing with the ditch and it's gonna eventually flood my backyard. So it got to go over here because that was better for him and that's where it would go. I was forced to put it where it is now.
I had to tread through mud for the first two months to go to my backyard to get into my house because my front yard was constantly flooded even today. Just because of the rain and the way it was graded, all the water would be right around my front porch. I went back and forth with my sales rep and the grader. Finally, the grader decided to come back out and do what he needed to do. But he still put my driveway on the opposite side of the house.

I like that the model has two living rooms. Besides putting ceiling fans in all the rooms, the model that we looked at is what we wanted. So, we just asked them to replicate it. The rep helped us. When our house got delivered, I was pregnant. And the contractor only put our one set of stairs up. It didn’t go in the front of the house, they were in the back. He said that was unacceptable. So, he called them, and the next day, people were out there working. He was a good advocate for us. We had an issue with our AC, and I texted Chris. He put an order in. Those people called me. The next two days, the other people called me. And within the week, somebody was out fixing our AC.
We have this little dip outside of our property line. The contractor originally told us they would fill it in and move the home over it, but they didn’t. They almost tipped our whole home over. And the side that they almost tipped had tons of remodeling pieces that had to be done. Our whole master bath was a disaster. It felt like they were trying to rush. But whatever company Clayton used to fix that were great. They did a good job. Even if we had this fumble, they fixed it.

We were looking to get a 5-bedroom, the same setup as this one, and we were only getting it for the price that they had for this 4-bedroom. All of a sudden, a week before we even got into everything, they told us that the number went up, so we couldn’t afford the 5-bedroom. They didn’t even ask the people that were financing. I feel like we were gypped out of it, because it would be the same price as what we got the 4-bedroom for. We decided to take the 4-bedroom because it had no hassles or any of that mess. A week after we had decided we would take the 4-bedroom since they said we couldn’t afford the 5-bedroom, the 5-bedroom showed up on the lot. We had already said that is what we wanted. That was the one we would get until a week before we even got to it.
But Ross has called us since we’ve been in the 4-bedroom and asked us, “How’s everything going in the trailer? How are you all liking it?” He asked us if there were any repairs that we need to contact the maintenance people for, and we told him. They would come, and they’ve been great. If we needed to add something to the repair, we would tell the repairmen while they were there, when we thought about it, and they would go and look at it.
The island outlet has kept falling out. Clayton Homes had to order the outlet, and they’re gonna replace it next week. And we’ve had the hose pipe nozzle outside, it’s defective. And the outside, one of the far corners, the flashing for the signs, it’s not caught on the trailer. So, they’re going to replace both on the 22nd of this month. They've come out before. Because the hallway light where the three bedrooms are was messed up. And they had to actually call an electrician. That electrician was great. He had it done within 20 minutes. I asked if I could get his number just in case I need him again. And then our back door and front door weren’t shutting right. And they fixed them. But they fixed them, and that was before this repair that’s coming up has done. Besides the repairs, we’re liking our new home. We’ve got more space than I’ve ever had. Our kitchen is lovely. It’s better than renting.

I was finding me, my daughter and grandson, a house that we could afford and with enough room. There was a lot on my list and they really worked with me. The rep talked about if I wanted to order a new one, he would gladly do that for me. But we know because of COVID, everything's backed up. The trailer we were in was having some major issues. We were gonna either have to put a lot of money in it or we were gonna have to move. So, I was looking for something that was going to be our forever home for all three of us. He was very patient and talked with me about what I liked and didn't like and what we could do to change it or fix it. That helped me make my decision.
They were really patient with me. I wanted to make sure I was getting the best one. Each time, they would go back and unlock one or two trailers and let me look through them again. When I chose the one I wanted, he made an appointment. I went back, and then they took care of all the paperwork for me and got right on it. They would have delivered it a lot sooner if only I could have gotten all my things lined up. It took longer than most people, but it was the situation and partly, me. But they did a good job.
The paperwork was smooth. They got the person there to do the closing stuff for me. They hauled the trailer in for me. It went in without a hitch. We got the neighbor's fence down waiting on them. They came right when they were supposed to and hauled it across everything like pros. As far as getting in, getting it here and the purchasing, it went well. Afterward, when we got the house, there were a few minor issues and they were really good to come and fix them. It's a really nice home and we're really enjoying it. I would recommend Clayton.

We were looking at houses and got one that was almost identical to the one we wanted. In order to get the one we wanted, we had to wait seven months and we didn't want to wait that long. I like the house but there are a few things I don't really like about it. They put a faucet in the back of the house but they didn't put one in the front of the house. There was no electrical either. The original one we looked at had one. When we walked around the house initially, it was still in two half pieces so we couldn't really get the total thing. We wish they would put electrical and water in front of the house and the back. We have a half acre of land in front of the house that we have to run hoses all the way round from the back to the front. I told Clayton about this and they just said that was how it came from the manufacturer.
Ross was our rep and he was good. But with the contractors, a lot of them suck. According to Ross, they already fired the contractors that did a bad job. Ross moved from a salesman to a manager and he got all brand-new people coming in. But at that time, the contractors they had was very **. They left stumps off of the yard they told us they removed. The ones that did the blocks into the house, I had to go out. They left the slurry off of the front yard. When I went over to the other one looking for sticks to pick up to mow the yard, they threw all cut blocks off of the yard over there. I got rid of them. Whatever company was doing the blocks, they did the back to the house. We sent a message to Ross about the color of blocks that we wanted put on the house. They put the back up. We went three weeks with nothing being done.
I drove one day and the guy was putting all the blocks back up onto the pallet. I go, "What's going on here? Are they bad blocks or something?" He no but they were the wrong blocks. They were gonna have to tear that down. He added, "They said they're supposed to be beige." I told him that they were supposed to be that gray because the house is gray. I asked him to put the blocks back. We lost three weeks on that.
The people doing landscaping on removing the stumps told us they were gonna be there. They didn't remove everything. The reasoning was they didn't realize that there were hills and stumps. The house had to be moved back because of the hill. We wanted it dug into the hill but we were told that it wasn't possible. We're happy to be on top of the hill.
Another thing is there is a little hallway that you go through the laundry room to go out the back. They only put a switch in the very back of the house and nothing toward the front. If you're going out to go outside, on the front hallway, you have to flip the light on in order to see to make it to the other light and to light up that hallway so you can see down it all the way. I let Clayton know all those stuff.
Also, there was the thing with the light switches. With the one that does the kitchen and the little hallway by the master bedroom, you would think the second one would be for the one in the kitchen. No, they put the one by the master bedroom. The last one is for the other light for the kitchen. That doesn't make any sense. When you're coming through the front door and you hit the light switch, what lights which should be the closest to the door? Or even when you're walking out, shouldn't the porch light be the closest one to the door that you can turn it on? But when you're going out, you can flip it off. The furthest one away from the door, the three switches, is the outside one. I can go in there and I can get the electric company to change that. The next one is for the fan and the closest to the door is the main lights to turn it on.
Another thing is the trim is coming off. If you barely bump it, the trim work will come off. I got ahold of Ross and when they did one of the pieces, the manufacturer left a piece off on the house. Overall, we had no problem with the personnel at Clayton Homes. They did everything they were supposed to do. Ross and the guys are working with the manufacturer about getting somebody out to fix an issue with a siding that buckled.
There are just some of that little stuff that if tweaked would make the home a lot better than what it is. The kitchen cabinets are beautiful but when you open up the door, instead of being two levels a shelf, there's not another shelf inside the cabinets. There should have been a shelf there. Right now, I'm working on trying to get the yard done because the guy left a lot of stumps out in the yard. He also dug out the ditch and flattened it. The agreement was that they would put in one pipe. The guy found 50 different ways not to put the culvert pipes in.
Now, we have coming off the street into the house instead of going into the ditch and around the back. It runs straight down the driveway at us. His words were, "I don't think there was one there." We can't go back. They told Ross and Martin, who was the manager at the time, that there was nothing they could do and they weren't gonna come out and do anything.
The electrical people held us up too because they were supposed to come and put the box on. They said they would have us all hooked up before the electrical company comes out. The electricity ran all the lines that had the poles up. They were waiting on the electrician to put the box up on the house. We got very irritated about the process. When we started last year, we were told that the contractors will have everything done by May. May came and Ross said, "The contractor says because of the weather," which some of it was a bunch of crap because they just didn't want to do it right. "We'll have you in by the 4th of July." The 4th of July came around and it wasn't done yet. It became by Halloween and that didn't happen either. It became by Thanksgiving then Christmas. But that didn't happen.
We signed the paper in January and we couldn't move in until February because the landscapers didn't put the stairs in for us. We're waiting for them to put that in. That messes up on trying to get grass to grow because they only do so many feet away from the house. Also, the grass they put in was crap and died. It didn't even grow.

Clayton Homes was good to help. My husband gets frustrated with the rep. But he was professional, friendly and approachable. But it took forever. They said it would take 9 to 12 months and it took 13 months. It wasn't their fault. But the finance company took four months. And she was working from her house. It's during COVID and I understand. But the loan process was unbelievable.
We had to move. We had our house paid off in South Dakota and we could have just lived there until this one was done. But they made us move down here so I could have work here in Colorado. So, I had to provide paychecks, which I get, they want to see that I can make my house payments. But that put us in a tough spot financially because we had to move down here and rent for a year. And that was money we'll never get back. But Clayton tried. They had to work with a lot of agencies and people around and they know what they were doing. We were able to get this nice place and there was no way we could have done it on our own. We couldn't have afforded a big house. So, this was a good opportunity for us. If you are renting and money is an issue, you need to get into your own home. Clayton will get it done for you.

I needed a four-bedroom, single-wide home and Clayton Homes made it. I've been satisfied. They are timely in service. I had my back door swapped out from the one that was sold with the house. It came with the normal standard back door. I don't like the way it sits in our trailer park for the way that the wind blows and rain sometimes. They don't feel completely tight than the other style that comes with it. We put a spring, like front door in the back. They came out and took care of that. But when you're buying a mobile home, you're not allowed to add any special feature that much, not like the modulars or double-wides where you get a little bit more freedom to change things.

I called Clayton Homes and made an appointment with somebody at 2 o'clock. My girlfriend and I went into the Yuma shop, and said, “We're here for our appointment to learn about what you have available.” They said we didn't have an appointment. We asked what they got and they said, "Nothing. Not for at least a year. It's very slow moving out there.” I was dejected and we left. I dialed my recent call out numbers and it rang to Clayton Homes in Mesa. That was where I made the appointment with but I didn’t realize it because it said it was Clayton Homes in Yuma. The woman in Mesa said, “I got a guy down there in Yuma that just placed a brand new home on a golf course.” I told her I wanted to look at it. I looked at it, walked through it and told her that we wanted it. She hooked me up with the guy down here named Randy. We got the house within a month during the highest market frenzy in housing that we’ve seen decades.
I love my Clayton home. I feel blessed that we were able to get in so quickly. It's perfect. The location is awesome. The place is fully landscaped and I love the neighborhood too. However, there are some quality issues. I understand that right about the one-year mark, they have a crew that comes in and does some painting to paint the settled areas. We will be looking forward to that. I had to have them resend a contractor out to redo the flooring because when you stepped on the linoleum carpet crease, you've got nails in your feet. With one phone call, it was taken care of. However, the contractor said, “This material is not of the highest quality.”

Note we have only lived in the house for 3 years and stuff started falling apart after a year. The kitchen drawers fell apart had to fix them multiple times. The carpet is paper thin and is missing in some places just wear and tear. The paint on the house just comes off with the slightest bit of rubbing so cleaning the walls is impossible. Some of the electrical outlets don't work. Had my brother who is an electrician say he was surprised the house didn't burn down. One outlet is right underneath a window which is a no no from what he told me. We got way over charged for what we got when we were promised something better. I like the house but I had problems with Clayton Homes. It took about a year and a half before I got to move in. They had 50 other properties they were working on at the time. I told them I don't care about the other 50 properties. I want my property so I could go ahead and move in. Then we've had problems since we moved here with the septic tank leaking. I went ahead and cut the grass. I used my tractor for that. I was told that I should’ve never run over that line. But it should have been deep in the ground like on my property down in Georgia. Clayton Homes told me that it killed my warranty.
They didn't finish the gutters system. They run it down to the ground but didn't put the part on it to run it away from the house. I pointed that out to them but that still ain't been fixed. There are several other things but I’m no longer under warranty, according to them, because I cut my own grass with my tractor. I've only been here about eight months, and I was supposed to have at least a one year warranty.
The land cost me 120,000 and it cost me another 200,000 for the house. But all the other stuff that they did, it ran up close to 100,000. I could have had a house built for that and it wouldn't cost nearly as much. They don't point that out to you until they've already purchased the property and they start working on it. Clayton Homes should take better care of the customers. I'll never do it again and I'll never recommend them. I wish I had asked around to other people that had bought from them, but I didn't. I've talked to a few since I bought mine, and all that they have are complaints also. Clayton Homes did them the same way. I looked it up online, and Clayton Homes have lawsuits against them all over the United States. I’m thinking about getting a lawyer myself.
Hi Robert, we appreciate you reaching out, and we're sorry to hear of these issues. To date, we have had a total of 3 items reported with regards to your new home. These items include the gutter extension, the septic system issue, and air conditioner.
The air conditioning repair has been addressed.
The gutter extension has been addressed.
The septic system was deemed a result of the homeowner driving heavy equipment (tractor) over their new leach lines and ultimately crushed the line. This is not a warranty related item. The septic system was installed per the septic evaluation based on the county requirements. Furthermore, a final septic inspection was conducted by the county and approved
Clayton Homes cannot be held responsible for the septic system issues, and this would fall under homeowner's maintenance.

We researched on different mobile homes and we thought Clayton was the best value and quality. We went over. We looked around to see what we wanted, and we looked for a good while. So, we went in knowing exactly what we wanted. We just needed to find land. Our realtor snuck up in there and got it done quickly. Everything was good.
I like the quality of the mobile home. But the trim has been falling off. We have three pieces that are laying to the side until we can afford to get a little gun to put it back on. The home had water damage in the home. Maybe the plastic, when they stored it, had a rip and somehow got water damage in the home. But Clayton had somebody come out and do it. I can tell that it has been fixed. It's not perfect but it's better than having water damage spots running down our wall.
Maria from Cedar Creek Clayton Homes has been awesome. Getting everything situated and making sure that anything that has gone wrong or that we've noticed, like the water damage, that got fixed. She had sent out somebody to do the wall. The pieces that had fallen off before the trim, he popped some of those back on for us. Everything was rushed. We had a good experience with Clayton Homes.

The purchasing process was great and we love our home. It's getting the little detailed things done and getting things fixed properly in a timely manner that we're having an issue with. There's a little bench seat with little cubbies that goes up under the area where the TV goes. It took forever to get that. The service people finally brought it out here and they didn't have a trim to trim it out with. That was probably a month and a half ago that they were here doing that. They finally came back out this past Thursday with the trim and trimmed it out. Clayton was also supposed to fix the pantry door because it bowed at the top. When you shut it, you can tell it's not even and it sticks out in one corner. They said they have it closing better and that's the best that they can do.
On all four corners where the house sits on the block foundation, you can stick your hand up in there. This means that anything can get up under the house like little animals and rodents. Clayton was supposed to fix that. Someone came and all he did was walk around the house with some spray foam. He sprayed gobs of foam that's hanging out where it's exposed. It looks horrible. They only fixed the corners. If you walk around the house, you can see where the house is not sitting flush on the cement block foundation and there are still places where animals can get up under the house. We've already killed two mice in the house because they were getting in under the house.
I have pictures that I took over the weekend of where that spray foam was sprayed in one corner. Now, it's even got the corner piece of the siding bowing out because he just stuck that can up in there and sprayed away and an animal can eat through that spray foam. Clayton is not fixing the problem but putting a band-aid on it. They should just get it fixed and be done. It's to the point that my husband told me that when I send the picture to Ashley, the girl I've been dealing with at Clayton, I was to let her know that they need to contact my husband and their sub can come on my husband's schedule when he was going to be at home. My husband was done and he's to the point that if they don't get it fixed right, he's ready to go somewhere and see if there's any help that he can get.
When you call Clayton and tell them, they send somebody out. The people that they're sending just walk around scratching their heads like they're not quite sure how they need to fix something. They leave and you have to hope that they will come back within a few weeks. It's been that way the entire time. When we were trying to get in the house, they would come and work a day or two then they would disappear. My husband is the one that had to keep contacting the sub to get them to come back out and finish so that we could get moved in. It was a lot of stuff.
There's a crack in the wall that has come up and we told Clayton about that weeks ago. The rep said she would notify the guy that was coming out to complete that trim and fix the pantry door and all the places on the foundation. But the guy that came did not know anything about that and those were not on his list. He went out and he came back in. He said, "I have good news and bad news. I can fix it, but I can't fix it because I don't have any mud on my truck." But if he was driving that far, shouldn't he have everything he would need? That's the way it's been the whole entire time.
Hi Mrs. M, thank you for sharing your feedback with us. We're sorry to hear of these frustrations, and we wanted to address your concerns below. The service team has been to the home. The stucco is done correctly. The vinyl hangs over the stucco and you can't see any gaps. It was advised that the customer seems to be attempting to completely seal the bottom of the home, which we do not advise doing, as it needs to breath to prevent mold. However, the customer was insistent on closing the gaps. He has closed all the vents and doesn't want to open them because of pests, but the customer does live in a wooded area. We had a contractor seal the corners and porch as a courtesy while he was there to do other repairs. The crack in the kitchen was a new crack and the first time it was heard about was when he was there that day. We did not know in advance it was there. We did inform the customer that next time we had someone available in the area we would get the sealant trimmed down (you have to let it expand to seal, then cut back) and fix the new crack that had just happened. We encourage you to reach out to your retailer regarding any further questions.

We got disappointed with the Huntsville location. But once we got over to the Bryan College Station location, it was smooth and easy. Tom, their rep showed us the two models that we expressed interest in and then gave us free rein to take our time and think about stuff. Then, we went home and got a follow-up call. We never got follow-up from Huntsville. We went out there a week later and again, it was about an hour drive over to Bryan College and back. We went through a PowerPoint slideshow with the manufacturing rep and selected colors and got the home all set up.
They took the information and started working with the inside financing company and they came back with a reasonable price and financing package. We were on a waiting list, expecting to get our house in about two and a half months. But a month later, we got a call from Tom and he said, "Hey, we found another Eliza, which exactly matches what you asked for. It's available. Do you want to go with that one?" So, we got the house a month earlier. Then, they did the installation. It was as smooth as could be.
We had a couple of problems like some bubbles in the floor. Also, the rep did not show us how the faucet worked on the sink. So we were spinning the lever up and down and nothing was happening. But the lever up and down was just temperature control. To get water, we had to pull it left and right and we didn't know that. We thought there was something wrong with the water hookup and plumber came out and he went, "No, that works." Every time we've had a problem, they've been very responsive in getting somebody out to get it fixed. The contractors are super too.

The Clayton sales rep was awesome. She answered every question that I had and went out of her way. If she didn't know the answer, she would find it for me. I like the way that the Clayton house looks like a farmhouse inside. As far as the quality, we had big holes in the fireplace. They tried to tell me that was distressed wood. But, that's faulty wood. There's a difference. When I reached out to them, they were very rude. They didn’t care. Finally, they said what I needed was three pieces of wood to replace it and they sent three pieces of wood to the office.
We’ve also got major issues with this floor. It keeps coming up. They sent a guy out and he worked really hard at it. He injected some glue with hypodermic needle. But there's a hole in the hallway from the floor and in the laundry room, it's still coming up. Also, they had paint all over every room. So Jared, the one that does things around here, got down on his hands and knees and got the paint off a lot of it. Jared was awesome.

I like my Clayton home. I like the size of it, the quick and easiness of putting it together. It also heats and cools well. The people I worked with were good. Anytime I had an issue, they tried to resolve it really quickly. Everything they told me was what they said as far as my price. However, they can definitely do better putting them together. In the inside, the floors have got high humps and low humps, become they got their piers too high or too low. So, I’ve not got a dead-level floor in my house. I had them put a perimeter foot around my place and that's the worst perimeter footer I've ever seen in my life. They rushed through it.

We liked the way the house was laid out. The size of it was good, too. There were a few little minor issues, but they were taken care of within a week. The biggest problem was the sliding glass door. One of the rollers underneath was all jazzed up and it couldn't be repaired. It had to be replaced. They just brought out a whole new door a couple of days later and put it in. The service has been excellent. One thing that really impressed me is the kitchen counter is L shaped. There's one area that's below where the two corners come together. It's inaccessible from the kitchen side so they put a door on the living room side for us for free.
There was an issue on my end, getting the lot prepared to have the trailer brought in. We had groundwater issues that took forever to take care of. So we ordered the trailer near the beginning of December. But we didn't take delivery till sometime late January. All that time, it sat on their lot. I'm sure they were anxious to get it moved into position, get it off the lot, but they weren't pushy about it. They called once a week saying, “How's things going?” We'd say, “Yeah, we're plugging along.”
I was amazed at how they moved that home in. From the time they arrived on site, it was only about two hours and it was not the easiest place to put a trailer. It's in a mobile home park. You got five foot on one side and eight foot on the other, and they somehow managed to squeeze that thing in without hardly any problems at all. It was a very amazing operation and it was very quick.
We like the overall quality of the home. The only thing I wish I had, was an idea where all of the electrical wiring runs behind the walls. There’s been a couple of occasions where I've had to drill a hole through a wall to run the cable TV because there's only one outlet that's attached to the outlet on the outside of the trailer and that's the entertainment wall. I've got TVs in other rooms, too, so they had to drill holes.
The woman that I dealt with from Clayton was great. She was very knowledgeable about her product, the processor and the paperwork. I also worked with a man and he came out a week after the trailer was put in place and went over some things with us. Any problems we had, he reported them and had them taken care of right away.

The Clayton rep was extremely helpful in some situations that I had in the process and has always been there to answer questions and go after concerns with no hesitation. However, I was buying a property with it and I brought the property to them to finance with the trailer. All that took longer. But otherwise, it wouldn't take as long if it wasn't for that. They seemed to get everything done when we needed it done. Any issues that we had was resolved by the time we landed.

By the time we got our paperwork done, it was November and Clayton Homes didn't start building the house until June, then the house was delivered by July '21. Everything's been great. Clayton was a good company. They were easy to work with. My wife and I went to Pearl to look at a couple of homes because it was right around the area where we live, but Clayton Homes and Pearl did not have a house that we were looking at. We searched and searched on the website looking for a house plan that we would like. Come to find out that Clayton Hattiesburg had it. We planned a couple of weeks later, took a trip down to Hattiesburg at Clayton Homes and found the home that we love down there. It was on display, so they had to order ours. The model we went with had a split floor plan and it had a fireplace as well as a kitchen island that my wife really liked. It's nice, and my wife and I love it so far. The dogs and the cat love it too.
The customer service has been good so far. I've had a couple of things go wrong with the house, which is nothing major. The nails came out, and they were quick on the draw. They've been spot-on on getting out there and fixing the things that I had. Overall, Clayton Homes was very pleasing and friendly, and they were really nice to my family when they looked at the home.

Two years ago, my wife and I were thinking about moving out into the county on my daughter's farm to be closer to her because both of us were having some health issues. We went out Clayton Homes just looking and when we first went out there, they opened the door for us, let us walk around and didn't bother or push us. My issues got worse, so I started filing my sale, then my wife passed away September of 2020. I still lived in my home in Rocky Mount for nine months, and my daughter wanted me to move out to the farm. She has 28 acres, so I bought a part and moved out here and it just so happened the same home that my wife particularly liked was still available in the lot.
When we got through, they explained what things were going on there, and they were very helpful. They got the home situated out here on the land and I've been out here on my own since February. It's been very convenient, and I enjoy it. I'm able to stay in the kitchen and watch my granddaughter ride her show horses and practice. Everybody at Clayton Homes was very nice, and I would tell people how friendly they were. I dealt with a Mr. Ron and he's called a couple of times to see how things were. He knew I got sick and checked to see how I was on my health-wise and how it was since I've been home.

The home buying experience was fine. My rep was very knowledgeable. The people were wonderful. My only complaint was that I got a front door that's all screwed up and they haven't fixed it yet. It's not put in right. There's a gap at the top and at the bottom. Also, all the doorknobs are coming off. This weekend alone, four came off in somebody's hands. Other than that, the quality of the house is good. They just forgot to tighten stuff up.

We like our rep Michael. He was very nice and he pays attention when I say anything. He was very helpful as far as all that. I like my home very much but we had an awful lot of things to fix. The worst part right now is the shower where the bathtub is. If we turn that shower on, it'll leak around the edge of the tub. You can take a bath, but you can't take a shower. The plumber thought he fixed it but he did something just down in the drain. So, there must be something else that needs to be done.
Also, there's a nail head sticking out close to the back door. We also had a leak under the sink and the pipe had come off. The leak went through to the wall so it's gonna take a little baseboard in the corner. The tech didn't get that done when he did the other stuff and he said he'd need to get some baseboard. There's also supposed to be another door put on the back door because that door shows light through it. They have put one on the front door and that works very nicely now. Additionally, the storm door is busted on top. The tech said that the brace was at the bottom when it should have been on top. We have no storm door right now and that's supposed to be replaced too.

The rep we worked with at the office, Christina, was freakin' awesome. She went above and beyond making sure everything is done to my satisfaction. We like our home. But once the house settled, the floor squeaks and the transition needs to be redone because there's something wrong with it. Clayton has been out one time to fix part of the floor that squeaks. The gentlemen who came were fine.
In the shower, we don't like to hang our soap from the nozzle where the water comes out. So, we are trying to have a suction thing on the wall to put our soap in. But nothing sticks to the plastic walls. My husband and I have to drill holes and mount something so that way, we can get our soap off the floor. They could maybe put a bar in the shower where we can put our soap. Also, maybe they could have painted walls instead of pre-fixed board.

The rep was very courteous and he listened to what we wanted. We had some issues with the seller of the land and he was going back and forth on his prices. Clayton had to deal with him because he was hard to deal with. That was a plus. I like the farmhouse look the home has. But the quality could be a bit better. The trim keeps popping off and under the sink, it has a big hole from where the pipes go through. Also, there are spots on the ceiling where I can see a little hole where houses go together at the top. One of the main problems when we first got in the home was in half of the house, the air wasn't blowing. They said the house is supposed to be overlapping so one side feeds off the other. But they were completely apart. The rep didn't know how something like that could happen. The techs have been out two different times. The first time, they were out in two weeks. The second time, they were waiting on parts. So, it took over a month.

So when we saw her that first time, we decided we were going with Clayton and we wanted her to help us. She went out of her way to show us. I told her what I wanted and she took me directly to the Modern Farmhouse and pulled it up. Then when we got ready to do the closing cost and we dealt with Lauren, she was wonderful, too. All of the reps that I spoke to on the phone or dealt with were great. They've come out and done what they were supposed to. It was a great experience. The only downfall was that we waited almost a year to get the house in here. But it wasn't Clayton's fault. It was COVID.
The only thing we changed in the house was our bathroom. We added a tub and a shower. So we had to get a little bigger, but it worked out. This house is perfect. I love it. I love the colors and the way the house is built. On the end down there, it has another den and three bedrooms and a nice bathroom. I even have a utility room. The main Clayton people did their part and now, I'm waiting on the people I bought the home from to come back out there. Initially, a guy came out and I showed him the issues. He did the repairs inside and he did a fantastic job. But there are still some repairs on the outside where they put bolts in some parts of my siding instead of nails and it looks like crap. Then, some parts of the soffit is falling down. There are a couple of pieces missing, too. I've talked to them when I did the survey and they said they were going to get back with Clayton here in Cleveland. But I still haven't heard anything from them and that was about three weeks ago.

I liked Clayton's people. They went above and beyond. This is my first home, so they explained everything to me. If I had any fears, they made sure that they put that stuff aside. Tara was the best. Any time I had a concern, she always answered my call. She was always very quick and empathetic. She even made a little picture book of our whole process for me and my husband, which was really cool.
The homes were all beautiful inside, but the size of the one we got was what we really liked about it. When we first came in, we loved it. But now that we are in here, I wish they would've asked us more about the quality of the actual house with the manufacturer, because the quality of the home itself is not up to par and things are falling apart. For instance, my sink keeps leaking because they did not put enough stuff in there. Then, my baseboards are falling down and my bathtub’s already cracking. I haven't even been here for a year and there are major issues. So, it's like when the manufacturer put the home together, they rushed through it and when they did the inspection, there was no way for them to see the problems because to the eye, things looked great. But there were things that were barely nailed in.
Despite that, Clayton sends people out right away and they do the best they can as far as the warranties are concerned. They've been pretty fair with that and they don't give us a hard time. They were also very honest with us through the whole process that this is what's going to happen and this is what they got to fix. So as long as they're fixing the issues, I'm okay. They make it all worth it.

Sometimes, there are a few adjustments that can be made, and everybody will come out and help us. If there was anything that needed to be looked at, they came out and fixed that for us. And some of the doors needed to be adjusted so they came out and fixed that for us, too. So, I'm very happy. I would recommend anybody to buy from Clayton. The quality of the home is what I expected. I like the way it's built like a standard house and not like a mobile home. But a lot of the trim is popping off and I noticed some of the shingles have already blown off from the wind. It leaks over the front door when it rains, at least down in the house and a little bit over one of the windows, too. Then, I noticed the bathtubs and sinks do not have an overflow on them, which are standard plumbing codes. I'm a plumber, so that kind of surprised me. I've never seen that before. Also, the top of the toilet tank was broken when they brought the house out and the salesman, Austin, brought one out there but it was the wrong one. He said he would have to get the right one and bring it. We still haven't got it so I don't know what's going on with that. Still, I would recommend Clayton. Lana and Elaine were the best ones I’ve dealt with with Clayton Homes. Lana was the sales representative and Elaine runs the maintenance on any defects and all that you find in your house within the year that it’s under their warranty. I didn't think I could get approved that quick, but I did. It didn’t take a week and at that time, my credit was not that good. But after I finally looked at the build and got it, I was disappointed in it. It has got fake floors and they are thin as hell. If you drag your chair across them, they rip right up. It’s like linoleum or wood but it’s thin as paper. It’s glued down to the floor. The manufacturer could have done a better job at putting better floors in instead of charging you an arm and a leg for a house that’s halfway put together up. But the guys have already come and fixed a few spots and everything else on the floor up since I’ve had it. I bought the house in November and I’ve been in it since December. I just paid it off last week.
The home came with an electric stove and I didn’t want it. I’ve had to have it replaced and Clayton put a gas in. I had to call in. I had to drill holes and everything else in the floors myself for the gasman because they said they didn’t do that. I also rewired the electrical for the gas stove. Another thing is the representative for the air conditioning system is supposed to come out and check it over, because it’s been having trouble with excessive condensation. But I had to fix the air conditioning system myself. The lady that’s having my problems fixed is nice and understanding getting it done. But it takes a while for Clayton to finally get out here, because they’ve only got one or two maintenance people. One of them redid my floor. It had a crease in it.

Worst experience ever. Filled out three applications, never purchased a home from them. Was trying to purchase a home using my land as collateral. First problem I ran into really couldn't blame on them, had trouble clearing the title for my land. Finally was able to clear up that problem by my third application or so I thought. Then the title company they used kept finding more and more problems that were irrelevant to me or the land I purchased. Received tons of excuses and why things couldn't move forward even went as far as saying because I bettered my credit, it put me in a different bracket which made it so I had to put more money down. Never heard of a company punishing you for bettering your credit.
They also like to do things prematurely to try to push things along. Went as far as ordering a placement survey in my name before the title cleared and then never paid the bill. When I brought this up to them and asked for the money that I paid to pay this bill because they supposedly took it out of my deposit on the first application they told me I still owed them money due to excessive title search work. I'm really trying to figure out who's embezzling what the title search company or is Clayton Homes lying about title searches and taking people's money. I've asked for an itemized list of everything that two deposits have gone towards and still have not received anything.
When I call them they make excuses to set up appointments for me to come down to the office so they can tell me how much more money I owe them. They've scammed me for the last time. I will not pay them ** else, I don't want to come down to the office, I don't even want to see the people at Clayton homes. To all those people that put a deposit down that think that it's 100% refundable cause that's what they put on your receipt, you're wrong. As soon as the bank gives you a conditional offer and you sign and agree consider your deposit gone. That's when they start doing all their premature work before everything gets cleared, at your expense.
In the end, the only advice I have for people thinking about going to Clayton homes is don't. I took the exact same paperwork that I gave to Clayton homes on my third application to Chad Mills in Pontotoc and they were able to clear everything through the bank including the title and I got a lifetime warranty along with the package. So anybody that reads this review, take one thing from it, Chad Mills has the deals. Stop in, ask for Michelle and tell her Lida ** sent you.

The shingles weren't put on correctly. The rain has come in through our lights. Last week, we had another rain and the roof leaked again. I called them but I have not heard back from them. They usually get right back with me, but it's been six months since we had the house and I don't want my warranty to run out when I've had a problem since the very beginning. I'm a little bit disappointed in all the workmanship of the house itself.
Inside, there are just lots of cosmetic things that they had to work on. My windows were also crooked. In my daughter's room, the nails are coming up through the floor. We have the laminate wood-looking floors and they've worked on them twice. The nails are coming up and all they've done is hammer them down so I'm hoping eventually they don’t work their way through the floor. It's not the quality that I thought it should have been. We paid $120,000 for it and it had a lot of issues that we shouldn't have had.
Even the appliances that are in the house, they had been out four times to work on my ice maker that won't work. They're not even making that model anymore because of the ice maker. They've ordered me another icemaker for the fourth time. It's on backorder so I haven't had an ice maker that works since we bought the house and we've got that in November.

Because of the material shortage, we were postponed for a couple of months, so they gave us our different outcomes that we could do in order to get in the house a lot quicker.
Depending on when we send the email, we would get a response either the same day or the next, at the latest. The longest time that we had to wait was a week. But that was only because they waited for the parts to come from the manufacturer. It was the stopper in the bathtub. Other than that, we would send an email, they got back with us the next day, and would schedule the maintenance guy to come out the day after. They were fantastic.
There have been some things that we've had to call to get Clayton Homes to come back out. And that's normal. The ground is shifting. We live on 10 acres. If you go a week without any rain, you get a crack 2-feet wide in the ground. We have got Clayton to come out to fix a couple of things, and they were very good about responding, coming out and fixing the issue.
We got into a five bedroom. We went from a 36-foot camper with me, my wife, two kids and two animals to well over 2,000 square feet. So, everybody's happy. I love the size of the kitchen. It has a big old Island it's like like a butcher block. My wife and I love our master in the bathroom. We have a rock tiled shower with the rain shower head. Also, we have the space for both our kids to have their own room, we have an office, and a guest room for whenever we have company come over. Everything about the house is nice.
We love Clayton so much that we posted on Facebook and one of our friends reached out to us and asked, "Hey, did you literally like the process?" So, we recommended Clayton Homes at Burleson. We even recommended the person that we worked with, and they closed on their land and home purchase two months ago.
Thank you for your review, Paul! We are glad to hear that we have been able to give you great service!

I genuinely wish I could recommend Clayton Homes, but please save yourself the pain and suffering. We worked with Ada, Kathi, and Robin on purchasing our home, and they were fantastic. Unfortunately, after your home is delivered, there is nothing the sales department can do to help you, and the factory is ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE to work with.
Our home was delivered in November of 2020, and we have had issues ever since. Our front door and front windows have been leaking since the home was delivered, and since it has taken the factory over a year and a half to fix the leak, we had extensive water and mold damage. We have had to fight with the factory manager Ros ** who is entirely unprofessional. Since they have had to replace about two-thirds of the front of our home, the paint no longer matches, and they will not repaint it. We have a brand new home that looks like it has been patched together over and over. If you purchase a home from Clayton Homes or Golden west homes, be prepared for a rough ride.
Ms. KellyAnn, Clayton strives to provide a world class customer experience to each and every customer, and we're sorry to hear that we have not met your expectations. Our customer advocacy team has been in communication with Clayton Homes of Santa Rosa and Clayton Perris, the builder of your home.

I wanted 2x6 wall construction and the one that my wife liked was a model that was made in Alabama so we ordered it. The quality of workmanship on the home is lacking at best. We've had to have people out several times to try to remedy stuff. If I had to do it again, I would not buy that one that was built in Alabama. This is the third one we purchased. We purchased another one, which is a single wide one. I lived there for a short time because it was temporary and it gave us someplace to live rather than rent. I didn't find the problems with that one that I'm having with ours. My son-in-law purchased a double-wide one and it's a mobile home. That's fine too.
The home we have now has a farmhouse sink that extends over the edge of the Formica countertop on both sides of it. They tried to seal it but there's no way you can seal that type of a thing. We've been in the home since October and I’ve had them out and look at it. The last guy from Clayton took a picture. He said it was the factory rep that has to come out because they're gonna have to replace it with something. Under the Formica is particle board and when that gets wet, it expands. There's no way you can stop that. We gotta wait for the people from Alabama to give us another shipment so they can send the parts over. That's been going on twice now. Also, my wife turned the fan on over the oven yesterday over the range and it's chattering.
Other than that, customer service has been good. The salesman, Tim, did a great job. When we left for Arizona, I took out my savings and all the money from the house. We purchased a 72-acre tract of land here. A prominent nun is looking to move to the area so we donated her the single wide home we had and 10 acres. but they needed more rooms so I sent her down to Tim. She purchased two more double wides from him last week. We've bought five so far.
Peter, we appreciate you taking the time to reach out and share your experience with us. We are confident in the team at the retail location completing the sink once the parts arrive. Thank you for your patience.

Everybody was friendly. Everybody tried to help out, did what they needed to do.I like the home. But Clayton Homes hasn't come back and finished everything that we needed repaired when they moved in and we did the first walkthrough. They have not finished all of the repairs that they were supposed to finish. They're supposed to come back in a year. And my wife said they're not leaving when they come back in a year without fixing everything. There's a rip on the floor that hadn't been fixed. The trim on the windows is messed up. It's a lot. They have been out there 10 times. They do one, they do a little piece. They do a little piece, they would come back a week later. I'm tired of it. My price is way too much for what I paid for the quality I got.

I started buying the house in April, and I did not sign for my house until October I had put my land up for collateral for down payment. And there were issues with that. But it was drawn out a bit longer than what it needed to be. After I got my home, they were still doing repairs on it. I got it October the 27th and they're still working on it. But now, I haven't seen anybody in a while. I had a crack in my ceiling. They had to redo my whole countertop. I've had seven panels replaced already.
I went back and forth. Some of it was due to the land. But a lot of it was the home manufacturing, which they are trying to work on it, trying to get things done. I told Clayton Homes that if my land wouldn't have been tied up with this, they would have come picked up the trailer. The ceiling is still not fixed. When I reported the ceiling, one of the ladies that I spoke to said, “Oh, well, just wait right before your time is up and then just report all of it.” Then I said, “No, I want it fixed now.” And when I talked to another person, they said, “Oh, no. You can't wait on that.”
We were very disappointed because one of our things in our agreement was, I wanted to be allowed to put a front porch on within my financing. And when it was all said and done, I've got a 6x6 on the back porch, which cost me $900. So I'm still not happy about. And that was the last thing that we discussed. It was, “Oh, yeah. You'll get a porch.” They also had to come back out and redo my sewer. The air conditioners people have been out once. I came home and my tanks were ripped out of the ground. They just said that whoever they contracted didn't do them. And they had to come back out, re-dig and reset them. It has been a headache. They fixed my screen door. And when they put the spring part, the top of it, they put it in the wrong spot. So they pulled it back out and re-put it in another spot. Still my door doesn't close, which they got pictures. But it has not been a very good experience. It's one thing after another. It has been a fun ordeal.

Clayton Homes and the crew out there in Hinesville did a great job with everything. I'm happy to the max. Pam was our salesperson and her team there went above and beyond the call of their normal of taking care of customers. We fell in love with the home that Pam showed us. It was small and quaint. It was what my wife and I wanted to spend the rest of our life in.
My wife was pretty sick and we were in the hospital. The house was set, and they were just needing a well. I was so worried about my wife and I didn't have the money. But Pam, on her own terms and not as a Clayton representative, paid to have my power turned on. Pam and Stef also came out and cleaned the house, but they didn't have to. I don't care if I move to another location, I will always find a Clayton Homes facility and I will buy from there. I would rather buy a modular Clayton home than buy any other home in the world.

Dealing with the staff at the Clanton office was great. The buying process was great. The home is well-built. It’s well-insulated. It hasn’t been an outrageous price to heat and cool it. All the appliances are great. Everything works. But I’m still having a little issue getting some work done. I’ve got some tears in my linoleum that I can’t seem to get taken care of. The thing that I'm having a problem with now is having Clayton and the factory getting their ducks in a row to get somebody out to repair the stuff that needs to be repaired before my first year is up. So that is gonna be all falling in my lap and if that’s the case, they just better come get the trailer.

The home buying process was simple. The pandemic held us up on getting the home delivered. But the process didn't take very long. I worked with Craig and he was a nice guy. We moved in in November and Clayton is still working on some stuff of it right now. The master shower floor was cracked and it's been that way since day one. I wish that Clayton would come out and fix my shower. They said the manufacturer would have to come out and do that. I made contact several times, but I've never received any date on this shower and stuff being fixed. Now they're coming out on the 9th to replace some siding and fix more cracks in the drywall. But it's been two months since the last time they were here. I know Clayton Homes is not responsible for the blocking. But I'm not really satisfied with cinder blocks.
Clayton needs to make templates to mount the TV over the fireplace. I've had to google and call the manufacturer in Georgia to figure out how to do it properly. All they got is the connections there. But for stud location, they could put a template on the wall and have it stickered in the stud location where the bolts go and that would make it easier. Michael from Georgia walked down the floor where they were building another home, took pictures of a studded wall that hadn't been drywalled yet and emailed them to me. He went above and beyond. He sent me pictures of where it should go and what was behind the drywall because we bought three stud finders. The way it was built, a stud finder can't read it because it's built heavy-duty.

My experience with Clayton Homes has been really good. The rep had promised us that we’d get the house on a Friday in November, and we were closed on our house on Tuesday. The lot was ready, but because of the weather, they couldn't move the trailer that day. On that Monday, I called the rep and said, “Look, I know, I understand what happened. But we're moving out of our house. I’ve got to have it. The people are loading up my furniture right now. And I've got to have this house.” He got it all done over the weekend, and we had everything moved here on time. So, I appreciated that. For a moment, we kinda got misdirected at a time or two on the salesman we started out with. He promised us one thing, and then he left. But everything went pretty well. The only thing is I've got dimples on the floor where the piece of furniture sat and this was not supposed to happen when you got a solid wood floor.

They showed us a couple of homes that were in our price range and we picked the one that we're in now. I like the home but some things in it are cheap, like the cabinets. The trim around the doors and in the house keep coming loose. They have to come out and fix it. It was put together cheap. Even underneath the floor, it has the linoleum floor in it. You can step in certain places and see where they didn't nail all the way down underneath it so when you step on it, you can tell that that's the nail. It should have been nailed down better before they put the linoleum over it. Whenever you gotta plug something in, you gotta unplug it and the whole plug comes out. That's a manufacturing issue and we've told Clayton Homes all of these as well.
This home is much bigger than our old house. There's a lot more room and it's not cluttered. The water pressure is phenomenal. We have heating and air unit now, where before, we had portable heaters and AC units. So I do love that. But I wanted double sinks in my master bathroom. There's plenty of room in there but there's only one sink. Overall, Clayton Homes have been phenomenal. Any time we call and say we have a problem, they get someone right out here to take care of it.
Thank you for your feedback, Angie! We're so happy for you and your family to enjoy this new home!

Clayton seemed to have what we needed so we went there and they were great. The only thing is I'm not real happy about a whole bunch of stuff that happened and the way that they had everything done because I don't have all the equipment to do what they want me to do. I have to take pictures of everything that I want to have fixed then I have to email those to them. Hopefully, within two weeks, they might be out to take care of them. That way, they would know what they're looking for. One issue I have is my front door has got a big gap in it that you can see straight outside when you're standing inside. That's been an issue since we moved in.
For such issues, I was told to call the warranty department and deal with them. I've taken pictures of everything. Now, I have to figure out how to get them to Clayton because I can't get them to transfer over to my computer and they're on my phone. The file is so large. Every time I try to send the pictures, they won't send. I have to send two or three pictures and then another two or three.
On the whole, my experience with Clayton as far as the sales part went was great. But after the sale, nobody wanted to take a step up and do anything. It was already noted at the time of purchase that the countertop was all bubbled and coming up. They took care of that. We got a big old giant crack and they noticed that so they fixed that. But anything after that I was told, “You need to make sure that you send us pictures. And it has to be emailed or we don't have the time of day for you.” That doesn't say a whole lot about customer services after the sale so I’m not happy about that.

I was trying to get a house in a reasonable timeframe. I called Clayton and spoke with Alexis. She told me that they have the home in stock that I was looking at. I had some bad experiences at some other places. Alexis told me to go there so I went down immediately. The process with the office was horrible. They charged me $10,000 to remove trees and do grading then they ended up not doing any of it. I paid someone an additional $5,000 out of my pocket to have them do the job instead. Clayton actually sold the home that I went down there for and put the deposit on. When I got there, they tried to make some excuses and said, "It's down the lot for a year. So we don't know if we want to sell it. But we have another one coming in on December 22nd and we'll give it to you at the same price." But they didn't. It started off with a bad sales associate. Unfortunately, it was like her first day on the job and she knew absolutely nothing.
There was an issue with my whole ceiling in most of the house. There was a bunch of money that was supposed to be paid back to me. I got back almost 6,000 and they still owe me another 4,000. They made me sign something that I wouldn't sue them. But the fact of the matter is my wife is also an owner of the house. She's unhappy and I just want back what was rightfully owed to me.
Other than that, the home has been great and we love it. We're very happy with it. We had a couple of issues like roof leaks and the contractors came out. They were great people to work with and deal with. They helped smooth out a lot of things over that went bad with the Clayton office that screwed me out a lot of money. The contractors tried to do everything they could and they were the ones that did the closing.
They were supposed to have the closing in the house and they were supposed to bring paperwork. But then I was told to go to the Clayton office for the closing and that I was not getting anything back. It ended up being a little bit of an argument in the office with the manager. We all walked out. She printed everything and gave me all the forms in the parking lot. It was a really bad experience. The third party representative on the other hand was really nice. On the whole, the people that came and did all the construction work, the closing, and did the stuff that's not even their job, were so great.

Whenever I needed something or had a question or concern, they took care of it immediately. If not, they kept in touch with me.
I bought the repo the first time and this time, I bought a new one. It was a little bit of a lengthy process because of some of the delays with materials but that’s happening with everything. That wasn't Clayton's fault. The first one back 12 years ago was probably four years old when I got it but there was no major damage. It was just my daughter and I wanted to make it just a two-bedroom instead of two little bedrooms. They were kind enough to take a wall out, finish it up and make it one big room for her on that side of the house, which was really cool. However, the quality of that home from 12 ears ago is better than the quality of the one I just bought. I’m finding some of the things are very cheaply made.

Thank you so much for taking the time to share your feedback with us, Jeffrey! We really appreciate it!

It was great with Clayton Homes. The rep helped me a lot and the process was fast. It was a lot easier than what I thought it would be. The quality could have been a whole lot better though. I feel the house was thrown together very quickly. Some of the trim were popping off the walls. In my master bedroom, some of the wood don't match correctly. The cabinet doors are flimsy too. When you buy a home like that and you pay that price for it, I expected a little bit more for it.

I would send others to Clayton Homes. Everybody was nice. The maintenance guys respond immediately when they find out we have any kind of problems. Everything's been repaired except the screen door and the window. My office could have been a little bit wider though. Also, the closet in the bathroom is like a triangle and you can hardly get in and out of it.
We truly appreciate your feedback, Rosa!

Miss Linda, the lady that sold the home to us, was very knowledgeable. It was our first time and she walked us through it step by step. She was magnificent. She definitely got what we wanted, when we wanted it, and she wasn't taking no for an answer. I loved her. The process took too long and I'm happy it's over. There was a lot of twists and turns and ups and downs, but mainly the county was the problem. Clayton Homes was amazing. I'm very satisfied and I would do it again in a heartbeat. Clayton Homes could have hired better contractors though. Things are already starting to fall apart, and I'm having to fix as I go. Also, the cabinets weren't finished and I don't have any shelves. It's still particleboard on the inside. That's my complaint, but I know it's not their fault. They told me that they don't do the cabinets, and when I reached out to them about the trim falling off, they just told me to staple it back up. I'm just going to replace it.
Thank you so much for your feedback regarding your buying experience, Brittany! We're so happy that you're a part of our Clayton Homes family, and that the team you worked with went above and beyond to make sure you had an exceptional purchasing experience.

About 30 years ago, I had bought a Clayton home. I liked it, so I’m back to them and I would do it again. The quality is good. It’s over 30 years old and still doing good. This one is well-built. I love my huge island in the middle. I love the bathroom, the big tub and the separate shower. There’s only one thing I don’t like about it. When you walk into the laundry room, there’s no light switch on the wall. You get all the way though the laundry room to get to the light switch. Also, there’s only one plug in the laundry room, and I need one on each wall.
Sandra, we're so happy that you're loving your home! Thank you for being a lifetime member of our Clayton Homes family. We truly appreciate you.

If somebody would say they're trying to purchase, I definitely would tell them to go with Clayton Homes. The guy did a good job helping us out with everything that we needed. We didn't have to do as much. We love our Clayton home. It's a little bit smaller than we thought but other than that, it's nice. It has a lot of space. However, we changed the floors in the two bedrooms before we moved in because the carpet was old. I don't know if the lady who used to live there had dogs. They cleaned it but you can see that it's not a good carpet. We also had problems last week with the stove.
Thank you for choosing Clayton Homes, Sara! We appreciate your feedback!

The buying experience was super smooth. We used Justin, the sales rep at Clayton Homes, as a reference from my fiancé’s dad, and he was super awesome. Justin took us out to other locations, not even at the main office, and went out of his way to make sure we were getting into the house we wanted. Once the house was delivered, he was super attentive with us on when it was going to be put on the location. Every step of the way, we were informed, and Clayton Homes went out of their way to make sure we closed at a good time. We've had a really good experience with them. Any problems that we've had, they've come in within a few days and fixed or addressed it. Eric, the one who set up and dealt with all of our maintenance stuff, has been super wonderful as well.
Thank you for sharing your feedback with us, Leah! We appreciate you taking the time to let us know your experience. We're happy to hear that the retail team you worked with was so attentive.

It was a great experience, and I would highly recommend Clayton Homes to anybody who is looking to buy a mobile home. Denise, the sales lady who helped me, was really great. She was very informative and helped all throughout the process, up until we got the keys. It took four months total, between looking and trying to find a trailer and getting approved, and it was a really smooth and enjoyable process. It took a lot of the stress off of it.
The quality of the trailer is great. They've only had to come out and do one thing. There was a water leak, and it wasn't even for Clayton but they set it all up. They called the plumbing company and had them come out and schedule the appointment for us. They were very helpful with that. I'm very happy with the trailer. The only thing for me, I would like a bit more storage space in the kitchen, but with shelving, I can achieve that.
Thank you for sharing your experience with us, Miranda! We're so happy that you had such a wonderful buying experience!
