This has been the worst experience since the day it was pulled on our lot! Have regretted it everyday. Left several messages for salesman with no response. The service department has been over a month getting the mobile home completed. We’ve had water damage (due to their service department), cabinet paint peeling, drywall damage, stove didn’t work, and heating and air unit didn’t work. The block laid underneath had to be completely busted out it was so bad! I did speak with manager once and only excuses were made. I have made 3 mortgage payments and still unable to live there. If I had the option to have them come pull it off my property I definitely would!! Highly do not recommend!!!

Bought a home with River Lake Homes. Since getting the home I have had issue after issue and the latest being the hot water heater went out. Tried to get it warrantied and turns out the hot water heater had been registered and warranty had expired before I even purchased the home and the home being delivered. I have since reached out to them and they said I needed to take it up with Clayton. I called clayton and they said it was river lake homes issue to take it up with them. Still to this day no one seems to wanna help or admit fault in the situation and they keep deflecting or blaming someone else I'm now out of pocket $475 for a new hot water heater that was suppose to be brand new when I got the home.

The house is beautiful at first on the surface but less than 4 yrs later, trim falls off, supports and nails can be seen through the floor, nails not flush with some trim from the beginning, kitchen cabinets have odd surface irregularities starting to show, master bath mirrors have detached behind the trim and are no longer aligned in frame and more. Large tub in master bath had a crack on the inside surface after delivery, Clayton repair guy “fixed” it but 2 baths in it in less than 6 mos and the crack is back. When a light bulb goes out, you can’t just replace the bulb, you have to replace the WHOLE casing that is hardwired in and now our lights sag out of the ceiling. Wish I had done more research before choosing Clayton. Having to repair poor craftsmanship out of pocket because it’s considered “normal wear and tear” after only 4 years is ridiculous.

Although it may be cheaper to buy a house this way, in the long run you’ll waste money. After about 5 years I replaced all the crappy vinyl windows, 12 years we replaced siding, 15 years replaced roof that had rotted OSB board under in a couple places. Drywall work leaves a lot to be desired. We have had some plumbing come apart that wasn’t glued. Redoing the master bath they couldn’t even run the copper lines correctly and I had to rewire since they couldn’t find the time to spade bit through a 2x4. Plumbers had some pipe come apart in them that wasn’t glued as well. Been one thing after the other. My advise is to have your house built on site and watch the process get done correctly. I have pictures of the shoddy plumbing work and I’m sure the plumbing company would attest to the pipe falling apart.

I’ve been in our house about a month and wanted to write a review that would really tell how horrible Clayton Homes are. I’ve thought about it and could go on and on about the low quality house I got. And the best way I can describe that is to quote the finish out guy that Clayton sent to finish my home. “If you wanted quality you shouldn’t have bought a mobile home.” Please don’t waste your money on this company.

We’ve had our home for 3 years now and no I would not recommend Clayton Homes! The trim is coming off the walls, the walls were primed not painted, a shelf done fell in 1 of my cabinets, the corner pieces keep falling off the walls, they build junk homes for the price we paid. The floors are cheap linoleum, being I left my rainbow in 1 spot for a second and it literally pulled the top of the linoleum up. We’ve had AC people out here every summer for the AC unit. They cut it too short around my toilet and you can see it. They used grout caulk in the shower which is coming off. So no do not go with Clayton Homes. The top of the counters are cheap and are coming up. My shower and my daughter's shower had a hole piece in it. They tried to fill mine with caulk and did nothing with hers.

The Lulamae Clayton Homes model is such a charming manufactured house! We recently just purchased a 2020 series from a 1 owner, it's practically brand new! The craftsmanship that went into putting the house together is complete trash! All of the problems is from the start, not from the previous owners. The middle beam along the floor is a trip hazard until you get use to it. The kitchen cabinets drawer slides are junk. We are having to replace every single one. The cabinet faces in the bathrooms have fallen off. The windows are not set correctly and allowing draft. The showers were not hooked into the main septic line and were just dumping underneath the house. The HVAC system was installed incorrectly so you can correctly put in an air filter. The workers that put this house together obviously do not care about their jobs.
Thank you for reaching out. We're sorry to hear that you're experiencing issues. Since the home was purchased from the previous owner, we would not have records to indicate previous service or warranty issues. You may be able to contact the nearest retailer and they can advise on repairs or licensed contractors to assist. Unfortunately, these items are of cosmetic concern and would be the homeowner's responsibility.

I purchased a Clayton mobile home from Down East Realty and Custom Homes earlier this year. Close date was June 2, installation date was July, and I was given keys on September 1 and permission to enter after final work was completed on September 8. My move-in date was approx Sept 13. I provided a 30-day punch list on approx Oct 13. Currently, the majority of those issues have not been repaired. In fact, more have been created by Clayton/Down East workers either repairing things incorrectly or damaging different things as they work.
I have spoken with Down East, emailed them, and had my parents speak in person with them to little avail. For ex, my septic was not wired to power until last week. The plumber still needs to repair the concrete in it, and it needs to be pumped out because dirt, etc. may have washed inside (per Onslow County) and reinspected by the pump company. However, Down East wants me to pay for that. 2nd, my back door has not ever been plumb in the frame. It leaked to the point that the two panels around it had to be replaced due to water damage. 3rd, the shingles do not appear to lie flat at one end. 4th, one of Clayton/Down East's workers advised that my heater (inside) might not be hooked up correctly.
I have been advised by DownEast that Clayton will handle most of these repairs, but they are "8 weeks out"--no specific date. Many other things are also wrong. My driveway has developed a deep mudhole next to my house in part because the wrong driveway was installed. It is very difficult to get a quick response from Down East. There have been delays, vague answers, wrong answers, and, sometimes, no answers to emails. I believe Down East and Clayton are trying to run the clock on my home warranty. One of the DE workers said, when I noticed a repair that had been done wrong, "We were hoping you wouldn't notice." Also, the Down East GM will not provide contact names or numbers for Down East's owner or a Clayton contact. I want my house fixed.

Echoing what many of the other recent reviews of stated, this house is HORRIBLY built. Absolutely nothing is square. The doors weren't even put on right and gaps on all corners because they aren't square with the frame. at least 3 water leaks now simply because whoever put it together didn't bother to tighten the connections, leading to insulation underneath getting soaked in water. 2 weeks after we got it, the hot water tank blew and almost caused a fire because whoever did that didn't bother to properly wire it up.
The dishwasher was dropped before install and then just installed. It leaks around the door where it was dropped. Half the molding strips are falling off and some of them were put on with electrical screws instead of nails. There's half a dozen other things that are wrong too. All in all, avoid this company. They seem to be having apprentices with a few months experience doing the work and no one bothering to actually check that even basic ** is put together right.

We purchased a “brand new” home from Oakwood Homes Lexington, SC. The home buying process was easy. However, once the home was delivered no one cared about the issues that began. They wanted us to file against our homeowners, when we shouldn’t have to. The house was incorrectly built. We should not have to raise our monthly premium for their mistakes, or have to shell out money for deductibles. The floor completely caved in less than one year’s time. We have one shower that absolutely will not work. Our doors were incorrectly installed and were leaking and led to the floors caving in as well as mold all over the floor and led to a lot of asthma issues for myself. The insulation was not properly done around the HVAC and it has caused condensation in our electric panel box, which in turn burned up our dryer & washer.
Our trim has constantly fallen off of the walls. They did not even properly level the home and none of our doors shut on the home properly. The sink in the kitchen has two holes in it as well. My father has framed homes his entire life and he was disgusted at how this home was put together. I am disgusted at the way this home is put together. I have called and complained and I keep being brushed off. I am so disgusted at how this whole process has been. My home is 2.5 years old and is falling apart like it is about 50 years old. My family has mobiles homes that are 25+ years old and none of this has happened.

It started off to good to be true and now I found out why.. We purchased a home cash and they delivered the home. It started off good. They were coming out installing hooking up but now it's down to the septic lines ECT. Well can't find it anywhere. There is one on property but cannot find it and Clayton homes is not helping any with it. They tried saying that I am responsible for locating it but yet they put the house on property already and we had paid cash for everything already.. They contacted me and said they would get someone out here and do a sonar to locate it. Well that did not happen either. Instead they send someone to dig my yard up and did not locate it. Still I asked them what happened with the sonar guy and they said they couldn't find anyone with one but yet I've called 5 people and they all have one.
Clayton homes just don't care about you or anything. They only care about money that's it no one is helping us and we have had this home on our property now for a month and still no sign of being able to move in anytime soon or at all at this point. I've called Clayton homes and left lots of text msgs and no one has responded back to me and they just keep ignoring my msgs and calls and I am getting fed up with it...
I do not recommend using Clayton homes. I would shop around and have Clayton as your very last choice cause they will talk their way to get you in but once you're in it's over. They just got you right where they want you.. All we want is to get the septic located and new sewer line put in that we paid cash for but here we go again more time and more ignores. They said 14 to 30 days we would be moved in. All inspections would be done and yet over a month now and nowhere close to being moved in because they are too cheap to pay for a sonar here. Take your money to another company. Stay away from Clayton homes.

Please think long and hard about buying one of their homes. Very beautiful from afar. It’s when you move in then you find a lot of cosmetic problems that should not be problems for a brand new home. You call Clayton Homes and tell them all the issues you’re having and nothing gets done. They take their sweet time taking care of the issues your home is having and they have no problem taking your money and time. Please please and more please do your homework before purchasing one of these homes.
It appears I have painted over outlets, cabinets that look very old and scratched up, countertops in the kitchen are bubbling and underneath the counters have other countertop. Yeah that’s what I said. The front and side door you can fill air and see sunlight, all the molding from top to bottom look old, underneath the carpet has hard objects. I could go on and on.
They dropped the ball on this home and that’s a fact. It appears to me they put my house together with all the leftover materials that sat in the factory for a lifetime. They need to be ashamed of themselves for selling this home and thinking it’s ok to do so, it’s uncalled for. Don’t do business if you cannot take care of your customers properly and in a timely manner... Don’t buy!!! Everyone that I spoke to that has a Clayton Home all have problems and no it’s not the settling of the home. Lol. What a ** joke that’s what it is. Good luck. You’ll need it after purchasing your home. I gave them one star that they don’t even deserve.

I would give zero stars but that wasn't an option. Several factors went into buying a Clayton Home. One of which was the COVID shutdown. We couldn't find a contractor in our rural community so we went with Clayton Home. Huge mistake!!! Their contractors are unskilled. The transport company didn't set our home up correctly. The brick mason that did the skirting was a joke. He moved supports and then the doors wouldn't close. When touring the home we eventually bought, we were flat lied to. I was told things I wanted repaired would be repaired. Once inside my home, I was told those things couldn't be repaired. Poorest quality on the workmanship. Crown molding is separating from the wall and ceiling. Cracks over 80% of doors and windows. The front of several cabinets has fallen off. The dishwasher caught fire because it was wired wrong. Plumbing is all messed up and toilets have to be plunged at least twice a week.
The original paint in our home is a primer. We were never told that! Just finished paying $4200 to have the interior painted. Our roof has buckles in the shingles. On the interior, our walls have bulges where the studs are not aligned. We have had numerous leaks. For example our garden tub and kitchen sink leak. I could go on and on about issues we have had. My best advice is to run as far as you can from a Clayton Homes!

Where to start... They built my home in under a month. They dry-poured the footers for the wrong size doublewide. They wired the outside light backwards throwing the breaker immediately. The AC unit was delivered without freon which caused issues. Door knobs fall off. Plumbing leaks after a while (the toilet leaked & both showers) KNOWN ISSUES. Inside Door frame is not nailed into the wall. Cabinet facings won't stay on. Floors creek. Closet shelves buckelled. No laundry room shelves. Drywalled ceilings has groves in them (they fixed 1 of them, now it's a different color than the rest) Underpinning blew off within a few weeks. Bathtub cracked on bottom (still waiting on repair).
Oven door on stove shattered at 350° not even a month after moving in. Refrigerator compressor went out exactly 1 week before our 1 year warranty was up. (still waiting on that repair, in the meantime rent to own another fridge) back door leaks. Fans in bathrooms rattles.... I'm sure there is more. I had pictures of all this but have lost most of them due to phone damage. It's sad that we are paying over 100k for a home that is now just over a year old & falling apart with so many issues. This same home is 1/2 the price now if you bought it today. We are so disappointed in this purchase but due to unforeseen events, we had to have a bigger place. The pictures I will add are where the guest bathroom toilet water housing leaked several months ago. They replaced the drywall and said there was no mold. Yes, we would be interested in legal action if anyone wants to go that route.

We bought our retirement home This year, Clayton told us we HAD to use their General Contractor, when he came out he underbid the job, causing all kinds of trouble, he bid 28,000, we offered to go back to our lender and get them another 15,000, we were very clear on what we wanted. He David ** GL under estimated the size of septic we needed. When the septic was put in they torn my yard completely up in an area that didn't even pertain to the septic. They didn't clear trees for the spray heads, so the water just keeps flooding the yard.
We have a muddy mess in our back yard and all they do is say it's not their problem. That they don't have to fix the yard and won't give me receipts as to where my $40,000 grand went, Sonny the GM said they don't have to give me anything. They showed me some receipts, but while I was trying to look at them the General Contractor was busy raising his voice about how I didn't like him, so I could not concentrate. Clayton Homes has no ethics, they don't care they took money from a 70 year old Veteran for his lifelong earned retirement home. They charged me $6000.00 for tree removal but then told me that didn't include for the septic. That they didn't have that in the bid....Well sorry that's not my problem, tree removal should have included that.
Hi Denice, thank you for your feedback. Positive customer experience is important to our company, and we apologize that those expectations have not been met. An FHA inspection was conducted, and found that the grading met FHA criteria and Clayton had completed its obligations. Clayton is not responsible for maintaining the grading on the property or correcting any damage that may have occurred to the property after work had been completed. Per the sales agreement, Clayton was responsible for clearing trees to place the home, but is not responsible for any additional tree removal or tree trimming.
On August 1st, 2023, Mr. Bomar advised that there were some outstanding warranty items that needed to be completed. Mr. Bomar received a response stating that the cabinets and closet did not need to be added to the existing work order, as that had already been addressed by the customer. A work order for weather stripping on the back door is currently open and outstanding.
When determining the correct HVAC for the home, Clayton does not refer to the tonnage of the unit. Clayton refers to the BTU range of the unit, which is the measurement of heat that the unit can displace from the home. A “larger” unit may cause moisture issues that create structural damage or otherwise void the home’s warranty. Clayton will not be installing a different HVAC unit and if the customer chooses to do so, please be advised that the correct BTU range is listed on the data plate beneath the kitchen sink. Clayton does not recommend installing an HVAC unit that falls outside of that BTU range.

We had to call constantly to get them to put in, up or on - the items on my 'Options List' - for example - ceiling fans had to be ordered from Lowe's or HDepot - by me, then I had to call several times to get them put up; shelving in the laundry room was missing, there is still no door on the laundry room; the kitchen floor and throughout the house- the floor is coming up!! Screws are coming up through the floor (throughout the house); on top of the list - our house is not level!!
They do not care about anything - once they have their closing - they dust their hands, turn their backs and the customer ceases exist to the local office and the corporate offices, as well! I'm disgusted, heartbroken and being forced to spend our retirement in an unsafe house!!! I wish there was a LEMON LAW for houses!! I'd have a new house! They should be prosecuted - but we can't afford it now, after pouring everything we had into this pit of despair!!!

Clayton Homes assured us that our set-up on the trailer has been fine. We've had some problems when they moved it up in here to where we are at. But they took care of those problems. On the side and on the outside, there are several pieces that need to be aligned again. Clayton couldn't do that in cold weather, because when they do, they would break them. That's the only thing that we have left on that agenda. Everything else that we've had were things that they had to go over again. The factory forgot to put a pipe that had to go up into one of the bathrooms. But that has been taken care of as well. We like everything that we got.

The absolute worst nightmare of my entire adult life. I wanted to leave this earth without ever having to sue anyone. One employee in particular from Grand Junction CO, mocked me behind my back as we went over the multitude of serious issues that was wrong with this house. Being that this is a Warren Buffett/Berkshire Hathway company, we are currently embattled in a legal dispute over this house as their attorneys are now trying to intimidate us on a covenant issue to silence us. We are going to be spending well over $100,000.00 fighting them, including Forensic architects and engineers. This company may be goliath, with unending money and attorneys, but at the end of the day right is right. 2 words for you Mr. Buffet, Wells Fargo, enough said. Buyer beware, be sure when you do your research on Clayton Homes to include the keywords Berkshire Hathaway and Warren Buffett to reveal what they really are.

The sales lady, Mia, was fantastic. The buying process was awesome. However, I would never recommend a Clayton-built home to anybody. My furnace came in wired backwards. My hot water tank wasn't wired into anything, and there were open wires in my house. Both of my doors have leaks. They've replaced both of them at least once. The back door has continued to leak. There are little holes in my subfloor that they won't fix. They said the leaking that the door caused underneath my flooring didn't need fixed even though it was bowing, wrinkled and it definitely needed fixed. When I told them my back door was leaking, it was one excuse after the other. I was scheduled for them to come in January, but they canceled. They were supposed to come in February at the beginning but they canceled until the beginning of March.
When they came back to fix the panel that when they put in, they cut down too far and there was a crack in my entire drywall panel. They came back to fix that, but the trim work around both doors that they had fixed fell off the next day. They came back and fixed that. They came back and fixed the panel in my bathroom that had the water damage.
I've fought with the service department for I don't know how long to get parts. The shower was leaking behind the wall and caused water damage. When they had to replace one of the panels from the water damage at my front door, the installation wasn't even all the way up. It was shoved in the bottom. All of my windows on the right side of the house (which isn't a Clayton problem, it's from the transport) were off-centered. There was mold in my house that no one seemed was a big deal, and they fought me to fix it. There was something in the air conditioner vent duct that prevented the kids' bedroom from getting any heat through the whole winter. I had to wait until the beginning of May to get my air conditioner because that was never even ordered. When I brought it up, they said that something was back ordered. But it's crazy because it came the next week.
They let me in the house before the footer came. The bank held half the money to get the footer in which was wonderful. I'm glad they did that so that I had a place to take my family. I signed a piece of paper that said that they would fix all of these problems. They would check the subfloor. They would do the mold, the sink, the trim work that was falling down and the windows that were off-centered, but they've not done anything unless I fought them.
At first, Clayton Homes was wonderful. They listened. When I showed them email verification that that was not what they told me, the story changed. They were adamant that I signed my paper that said that all services were completed, but they're not. My subfloor was never checked. When I asked why my furnace vent was falling out of the ceiling, they told me that that was how it was supposed to be, that it was code compliant. If it was code compliant, my furnace wouldn't have been wired backwards. They acknowledged that there was water damage. They took pictures of the water damage and sent it to Clayton Homes, and they just said, "Put the floor back down and put the door in." But that's not gonna do it for me.
I'm frustrated. I've been in my house since December. I had a baby in January. I almost died twice, and I've yet to be able to enjoy my home because it's been problem after problem. My sink leaked, and there is a noise in my flex room. When you walk, you can hear the ductwork creaking. There's a bedroom on the back to the right that hooks to my flex room, and when it's dark outside and the bedroom has its light on, you can see it completely across because those walls don't go completely up. I've paid a lot of money as a single mom to take care of my kids in a home that I can't even enjoy because it's been one mess after another. I have taken pictures and documented. I have all the email verification. I'm trying to be nice and understanding, but I have reached my limit of being nice.

I wanna give a big shoutout to Mike, the sales manager at Youngsville. We met with Henderson, and we didn't like that experience, so we went to Youngsville. I was six months pregnant, and Mike helped us tremendously. He said he has a lot that somebody backed out on ‘cause they didn't have the funds. He said, “I can have it on your property in July.” My son was six months old by that time, but I was perfectly fine with that.
We were pleased. When the project manager finally came out here the week that we were closing though, he said, “Oh, your water meter’s not here.” They were supposed to call the city and get that done, but we were fine with that as well. We still got to close that week. The quality of the house is good, but we still have some makeup touches that we need to get done. The guy came out here three months ago, and he said he'd come back. He was good and really nice, but I gotta call the lady at Clayton Homes and schedule him to come out here.

We gave them a call and they said Clayton doesn't cover Mother Nature. But we’re happy and pleased with them. They’re quick to respond. The communication with Clayton was very good during the purchase. But the home itself got some issues and the reps had to come out a few times. And I need them to come out again. I hate bothering them but there are some weak spots on the floors. The home buying process was pretty easy and straightforward. They didn't ask me anything too difficult. I gave them all the information that they needed and they took care of the rest. When I got everything I needed, it barely even took a month to get everything done. I got this house because it was on sale, but it was still in really good condition. It had a few nicks here and there, but that was to be expected when you're transporting a house. It has three bedrooms and a living room. It has a main bedroom, which has both a shower and a tub. There's another bathroom on the other side. It just had a shower in it. I like the little nook room right beside the washer and dryer area. You can put whatever you want there. Clayton Homes had the layout that I wanted. The salesman was really pretty awesome. He was really friendly. The whole process took about seven months because I dragged it out. Financing was taking so long. I was trying to go get the VA loan but it fell through. Then the third offer that I was working on fell through. We went back to the first offer because the pricing market went down by a lot, and it all worked out. There were a couple of upgrades in the house. There was a window in the dining room but I had them put sliding doors instead. Then instead of the closet in the master bathroom, they put a Jacuzzi tub. If there's something wrong with the house during the process, they'll come and repair it. It's not a hassle. They come pretty fast to take care of it.

Everything went fast and smoothly that I'm so happy and been referring them ever since.
The manager there was attentive and so helpful. We got two homes and he went above and beyond to give us a good deal on two homes. Not only did he give us a good deal on two brand new homes with four bedrooms, but he also did everything to give us everything we asked for. Once they told us that the houses were ready, they told us it was gonna be extra money to do some updates on the outside, something Clayton always does. We told them we can't afford it and they threw it in. When we saw the houses for the first time when they were built and done and delivered to Clayton, they were more than what we expected. We had recently lost our home to a tornado, and she was so professional. She looked at these homes with us as if she was moving in them with us. I truly appreciated it. She understands. She was good. My anxiety was high. I was so worried. When you got three children, you've got a place to go. I have family, but when you have somebody that says, "Okay, we can help you. You're gonna be okay. Don't worry, don't worry, don't stress. You go home tonight. You let me work on this paperwork tonight. Tomorrow, I'll give you a call back."
We got a very spacious home. So far, so good. I am so pleased to have my home. I love Clayton. They made my closing process so easy and simple. They even brought in someone that does all the paperwork. They walked me through the process. We talked about the back end of the note versus the front end of the note. I'm a questionnaire. The home consultant explained everything good and worked with us a lot. She got a few things messed up as far as ordering the double-wide though. It was the wrong color, and the post was supposed to get two sets of steps. We still ended up getting two sets of steps because we paid for a dormer and didn't get one. We just traded off on a set of steps, which was ridiculous because we were supposed to get two sets of steps anyway. We've already paid for that. There was a lot of other things that I didn't appreciate as well.
The house is good so far. We had to have a lot of work done to the shingles on the roof because it moved in when it was cold and we had some wind. Clayton Homes had to come back and fix a few things. The cabinets are crooked too. For the most part though, it's okay. It was easy to get someone out, and the guy that came did good work. He was nice, and I got along with him. We were gonna build, then just decided to go with Clayton instead. We went in with a particular floor plan in mind and talked to them about our timeline and that was a big factor in it. The rep said, "Well, with that timeline, we can get whatever you want or we have a model here that's, basically, what you're wanting." It ended up being better than the one we had picked out. They matched what we wanted with what they had and saved us some money in the process. Also, Clayton was ready to go within weeks, but we had some zoning hoops to jump through. From start to finish, it took six months, but 99% of that was just us going back and forth with the county and zoning stuff, which Clayton was helpful with too.
The house is great. We've been in since right around Christmas of last year and so far, so good. The showerhead wasn't tightened down and it was dripping a little, but it was an easy fix. The service person came right out and fixed it. We have no issues, and we've recommended Clayton Homes to friends, specifically, the one in Ringgold that we used. They’re good at communication. The home-buying process took seven months but it wasn’t their fault. They were ready to go and seemed to help as much as they could. It was the contractor. After the sales rep sold me the house, he was still helping me take care of things even though that was not his job anymore. Clayton Homes has better quality than any of the other places and their professionalism is a lot better than the rest. Before I knew it, we were approved, and everything was rolling. It was too fast for me. We told them we wanted to wait till we were ready for what we wanted. A few months later, the rep contacted me and asked me if I wanted to check what she got. The hardest part was waiting between houses to have our home removed and have the new one brought in. But we got to see our new house before it came. Everything was a perfect experience. I couldn't imagine it going any smoother. We love everything about our home. We like the quality. But it's funny because every time I look around, everything's a little off it seems. It's probably the way the trailers are made. The leveling seems a lot higher than what I would have expected.
We've had them come out twice for little things like the sliding door wasn't locking properly. The repairman said it was the way it was installed. In my master closet, one of the racks came down. It was because they didn't have a center rod in there which they were supposed to have. That was a quick fix. Every time I've called, it's been smooth. They get back with me right away. The first time, the repairman came out the next day because he was in the area. The second time, it was two weeks because it had to be on my schedule. They called us when they were on their way out.

We called Clayton Homes and they were really sweet, nice and helpful. So, we decided to go ahead and drive up there. The lady that helped us get our home waited on us to see the home that we wanted to see. It's almost 2,000 square foot home. It has a real fire, wood-burning fireplace. It's beautiful. We have a huge island in the kitchen, which is nice. It's very spacious. The house itself is spacious. All my stuff is very rustic. I've got beams done in wood that came with the home. Then I did the wood accent. Each bedroom has a walk-in closet. As far as the home buying process, we ran into some snags here and there, but they were very good and patient.
Angel was our person and she is, by far, the sweetest person. She helped us whenever we needed help and guided us through what we'd need before signing and what we needed here or any questions that we have. She gave me her personal cellphone number, which to me, means a lot because things come up. We were very pleased with her. Overall, everything took about six months, which for a home is not bad because there's a lot that goes into it. So, I think that's a good span of time. Working with Clayton was wonderful. We've been waiting to get into a house for five years, and to us, they tried to make it as seamless as possible. It was a very pleasant experience. They were really nice all the way through and helpful on what to do and where to go next.

I went out there at Clayton and they had a 2020 model. It was the one they had set up for showing people. I bought it. It was cheaper than buying it if I had ordered one. Clayton took care of everything. They called a guy over from Northpoint Financing and he met me over at Clayton's and helped get everything going. Kelly was my salesman and I dealt with him 99% of the time. There was also Anthony. Joe is the one I've been talking to up here last.
Putting the home in was fine. But I almost got in trouble putting the septic system in. The guy here in Harrison County up here in Indiana made me put an above ground system in and nobody around me has an above ground system. A regular system would have cost me around 10,000 or 12,000. An above ground cost me 24,000. The guy said going through the hardpan is the worst thing you can do. He said the State of Indiana says you can't go through the hardpan. I didn't think about it until a friend of mine got a number for me and I called Indianapolis. They don't know where the guy came up with what he said. But it was too late as I had put in the septic above ground. The State of Indiana prefers you to have an above ground system now. But as far as going through the hardpan, there are no rules on that.
Because of the septic thing, it delayed me about two months getting the trailer put in. I started trying to buy this trailer in the last of June or July. Clayron brought it out last of September and I moved in on November the 9th. That aside, everything else worked great. I bought too big of a house. I'm 68 years old and I live by myself. I bought a three-bedroom house. I got the smallest bedroom and I have a room where I got an exercise bike and a total gym thing set up in it.
Clayton has been here to fix the siding on the front of the trailer. Windstorms took it off. Underneath the bedroom window, there's a double window. There's a double window in the living room too. Clayton sent their guy here to fix it twice. He never did quite get it fixed. And then their main guy over the maintenance department came out. I called them on Monday morning and he called me right back. The manager over at the maintenance department said, "I haven't been there... Now, is it where we put the siding on each end when we put the trailer together?" I said, "No... It's actually done by the factory." The main guy had to put a couple of new pieces in because the wind ripped them out. I haven't had a problem since.
I was called after that was done and was told, "Yes. That was done by the factory... Somebody down there didn't do it right." Where it goes up underneath the windows, you got to trim that to fit. They didn't trim that. They just stuffed stuff in there and made a big bow in it. The wind got in behind and popped it out and it ripped it up.

They did well with the prep stuff, getting the people out there to do the brickwork. Once they got it here, all the prep stuff was already done for the footings so things went quickly. But there was a split and it's been trying to get people resituated for doing the follow-up repairs that's been the biggest hiccup that we've had. People came out the first time, did some stuff, and we asked questions about things. The next time somebody came out, it was a different group so they did some things differently. Clayton Homes has a good spot on what they're doing, but they're missing some things. Some of their interior quality of the trim work could do better. It needs to be nailed properly when it's at the factory. The cabinets look nice, but some are not straight up. Charlie, our salesman, was the best. It was the first time we've ever done something like that so, we had a lot of questions and he answered them. It was a good experience. We first decided on the Satisfaction because it's cheaper but got approved for a little bit of money. So, we got the Marvel 4 and Clayton had it done and built by the time we closed. We didn't have to wait on it. They just had to get our single-wide and get it off and lay the footers. It was a very fast, quick process.
A friend of mine ordered the exact same house as mine through H&M. She closed in June and I closed in the Fall. I had mine set up, powered and was living in it before hers even got delivered to the lot. The quality of the home is good. The only thing we don't like is our bathtub. A lot of water goes out on the floor, and if we don't watch it, it’s gonna start rotting the floor right there in our master bedroom. I don't know what Clayton would do but I could call them and they’ll come look at it.

The home-buying process with Clayton was very smooth and painless. It took about three months after we tied up all the admin things. The rep was very professional, informative, answered all our questions and walked us through the whole way. I was impressed with the professionalism. We have a four-bedroom, two-bath home with a porch option. It was an old farm-style house. Me and my wife got our first home together and so far, it's working out.

Mel, the rep I worked with, told me exactly what I had to have and how to go about getting things. She was very helpful and told me exactly what I had to have and how I would need to get it. She was very nice and let me know she had time for me. She was always available and put me through the whole process. So, it was good. Steve, the manager, reached out and would check with me and make sure everything was going okay. The application to approval took just a week. But it took months to get into the home, for it to get moved and set up.
My new home was the exact color that I wanted. It's nice, pretty and brand new. I love the floors and the space is good. It's everything that I needed just for me and my son. I love that he has a bedroom and a gaming room and his own bathroom on the other end of the home, and that my bedroom and bathroom is on the other end. I like the setup. We meet in the middle in the living area. The quality of the build could have been a little better though. Some things seem to be cheaply made. But I chose a less expensive home and so far, it's fine for us. Clayton Homes was great. They made the process a lot less painful than what I thought it would be. I've recommended them to my ex-husband. He has some land not far from where I had my property and he was thinking about putting a mobile home on it, which he's not ready to purchase yet.

The home-buying process with Clayton is excellent. The reps walk you through every step of the way from the time you walk in the door trying to find a lender for you to the time that the trailer is set up and leveled and everything's hooked up. We bought the home new right off the lot and Aaron, the salesman I was with the whole way, was outstanding. He was doing everything and beyond the call of what a salesman should do. He was available to me 24 hours a day, seven days a week. It didn’t matter if he was on the job or at home. If I had a problem, he would get it solved for me.
Right now, we're working on fixing some siding on one side of the house. It looks like it's all warped. Maybe even sun damage of some sort. It came from the manufacturer that way. The last time I talked to Aaron a couple of days ago, they had sent somebody out there to look at it. Everything was excellent with my experience with Clayton. If people want a quality home with the service personnel to be able to solve any problems that you might run into, Clayton Homes is the one to go to.

Brittany, the rep from Clayton, is a fine woman. She’s friendly and I never had any problems with her at all. She didn’t try to push but she got us what we asked for. It was a little bit of a long wait after I got the home put in place for them to get here and set everything up. But they had their hands full and I understand that. I love the home. It’s nice and I feel at home. I liked the interior style, which is an open concept. I changed the color of the cabinets and the outside exterior and changed the flooring style. A boy that I work with bought a single-wide there and he just got it put in place on his lot two weeks ago from my recommendation.

We love the home and Barbara, the rep, was good to deal with. But not the two managers that Clayton had. When we closed on the home in April of last year, the first manager told me that we should be in there by the end of October. A week before the day we were supposed to move, I called them and they said everything was being pushed back to November. Our apartment had already been rented so we had to live in a motel room for 30-some days. And Clayton couldn't reimburse us any of it. They need to take care of the customers, especially on this deal right here. It cost us almost $6,000. They said they didn’t tell us to stay in a motel. If they had told us in October we weren’t gonna be able to move, we could’ve stayed there at our apartment for two more months. All I had to do was just delay it. But they didn't tell us anything.

I bought a home at their location in Fletcher North Carolina. To start I ask the manager to come to my property and look at the site to be sure they could do what I want. I cleared the site myself. And installed the crane pad. Told him where I wanted the house and that the crane pad was to be removed so I would have a yard and driveway. He said yes we can do this for you. I signed the contract being told everything we talked about would be done. It was not they set the house to the level of the crane pad. Even after several emails and phone calls they just kept moving forward. I was told if I do not want the house they would just sell it. I owned the property before buying the house. So it was sign or we take everything.
Now living in the house I come home after work every day. Instead of being happy to be in my dream home I'm sick to my stomach. They refuse to do anything about it. I have spent thousands fixing their mistakes. And we spend tens of thousands before I'm done. On top of that they did Final grading after the Conor of the foundation cracked from washing out. It still is washing out and has cracked again. And the crack spreads every time it rains and washes further. I have got in touch with upper management, their fix was to say it could use a retaining wall but it is too expensive and offered me two thousands dollars to sign a paper saying the grading is fine. I am left with a sour taste in my mouth. And warn anyone to be careful not to be bait and switched like I was. The manager at the Fletcher location in my opinion is a con artist and should be arrested.

At the end of May, the guy at Clayton told me he could get me something by July. They got me what I needed and I was in by November. The home is my box now. It’s nice to live somewhere where you don't know the temperature outside until you open the door. I haven't lived that way in years because that old trailer I had has had some issues. In ‘95, there was a hurricane and I had to have the floors redone. Then the one in 2018 left big holes where the particle board was not replaced because I had no subfloor. I've lived that way for a long time. So, I'm getting used to this. People can get a place at Clayton Homes.

I found some land that me and my wife wanted to buy. So, I told her if we got land, we could do a land and home package. We drove around till we saw a trailer that we wanted. We went in to Clayton Homes and Crystal greeted us at the door. She helped us all the way through the process and did a fantastic job. She made everything super easy for us and all we had to do was come in there about four times, sign the paperwork, pay our cash, and it was good to go. When the paperwork was signed on our end, putting the home in its place took off. It was probably two months max for Clayton to get the home here, get everything squared away, cleaned up, and the house put down. So, it was no holdback on their end at all.
Our kitchen, dining room and living room are all connected together. I have a big family and I stay in the kitchen majority of the time. So it was a whole lot easier for me to have an open floor plan where I can talk to everybody in two separate rooms instead of us having walls dividing us. Everything we wanted done was already squared away. The only thing we got to add in were a shower and a tub. The Clayton rep asked us if we want the full shower by itself or if we want a tub and shower combo. And with us having kids, we got the combo. We love the house. It has held up to a couple of good storms, so far. There are no leaks coming through the roof. So, we enjoy it.

The techs came to fix my screen door because it had a little gap in it. So, the guy said something about the pipes or something that had fallen down. So, he refilled those. A guy came out to fix our dishwasher because it was hitting the frame around it. After he did that, we checked the breaker box, and the dishwasher won't come on at all since he was here. It was fine before that, but it won't come on at all now. So, I called Clayton on the first of the week and told them about it. I said it has really been an inconvenience because I had an event that I was cooking for and I had to wash everything by hand.
The project manager called me and said that he didn't know what his schedule was this week and asked if I would be home on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday. He said he'll call me first thing in the morning and let me know if he's going to be there that day. I told him that I'd make sure I'd be home those days and I've stayed home to accommodate him coming out. But here it is, Friday, and I still haven't heard from him. And the regular tech guy is on vacation. So I think he was just stalling me until the guy gets back from vacation.
This has been an ongoing thing for two years and we've had to pretty much call them almost weekly to come out and fix things. I talked to someone 10 days ago, but it's still not a whole lot better. The problem is more on getting someone out and of them following through with what they say. I would not recommend anybody to Clayton, at least in this location. The home is good because it's a modular, but it still has to travel and come from three hours away on the highway. So we've had some trim that has come loose. But we really can't complain about it. We get a lot of compliments on it and we're happy with the construction of it. The problem lies with the local people because they're not hiring quality people.

Dealing with the salesman at Clayton was very good. We stayed with the same one all the way through rather than being moved up to somebody else. Putting the home into place was a tiresome situation but it would have been either way you go. We were moving it on just bare property. One tree had to come down and we had to get the electric pole as well as the water in. So, it wasn't an easy process. I had to do a lot of it because we were establishing an address. And to do that, you had to go through the water company and you had to go over there and deal with them in person. It wasn't something that Clayton could do.
Once I started putting the home together, it was a good process. It took probably a total of two weeks because the crew had to pack some clay and to make a foundation for it. Then they had to have the water lines hooked up and the pole had to be set. An AC had to be brought in and hooked up as well and you couldn't do one thing until you got another thing out of the way. The quality of the home is very good, especially the insulation. My electric bill hasn't been over 115 since I moved in. We’ve had cold weather and heat. I expect the middle of the summer to see somewhere between 150 and 250 but maybe not if it keeps going like it is now.

It was not an easy process because we had to go through a lot of permits and in a small, small county, that took forever. It took about nine months for us to get our mobile home out there but Patrick kept us updated through everything.
The installers had one half of the home put out one day and the next day, they had the other half put out. A couple of days later, they did the stucco on the side of the house. Patrick wanted to have his contractors all set up to where they're pretty much on a schedule one right after the next coming out. Clayton's reps were very informative and hands-on. We went to a few other modular home places and they told us to look at the lot, then get ahold of them if we needed something. But at Clayton, they took the time to walk with us and they let us walk around and get a feel for the place. Then we came back and they walked with us. So, it was more hands-on and it felt like they actually cared. Then, through the whole process from buying the home to moving in, they communicated. Our guy was great and he answered every phone call I placed. He also answered every question I had.
But I would tell my friends to be patient if they're thinking of going with them. My biggest frustration was how long everything took and that's not a knock on Clayton. That's just how it goes. Clayton should let the customer know upfront that there's going to be good days and bad days, that there could be delays related to inspections and supply chain. In our case, I was told that if I ordered a house out of the catalog and it wasn't built, the process would take 9 to 10 months. So, what we ended up doing to save six months was, when this house came in, we looked at it and it had enough of what we wanted, so, we bought it off the lot. We put some money down and it took about 90 days until we moved in.
We appreciate this feedback very much, Jason! Communication is key and we're so happy to hear that you had a positive, streamlined experience.

Every person that I've had to deal with, from the sales lady, to the one who schedules repairs and who came out and did the underpinning, have been tremendous.
Clayton Homes was easy to work with and anything I needed adjustments on after it was set up, they've been very good to send people out to make minor repairs. Recently, I had a couple of holes knocked into the siding from storms we've had. I was fortunate not to suffer any real damage. But they came out in a few days and replaced those two pieces of vinyl siding that had small holes and debris knocked through it. I was appreciative that they came and fixed that for me. And they didn't charge me for it. I have never lived in a mobile home. I left a close to half a million dollar home. And it has been an adjustment. But I'm very comfortable there. We smell a sewer behind our house. It has been going on for a while. Back in October, it wasn't raining when we got the house. It smelled bad. Clayton Homes said that they would get the plumber out as soon as they could. The plumber came out not long ago and said, “It's just because the ground is saturated.” I took that with a grain of salt because I know better. That's the only complaint we have about our home. Buying from Clayton Homes was quick. Stuff worked out in our favor. I could contact the rep at any time of day. He would answer or get back to me. He was good with questions before we received the home. We were looking for a three-bedroom, two-bath. We had looked online and found it and went to that location to look at it in person. We went that route instead of the other routes because there was a $100,000 difference. Also, it's bigger than what we had. But the quality of the build could be better. The trim work is either overlapped or there's a gap in between. I could tell they put it together quickly. A lot of the staple holes for the walls are visible. It could have taken more time doing it.

I had a good experience with Clayton but the mortgage company was long-winded. They wanted all kinds of different information from all over the place, and it took a while to get the home buying process done. I started about mid-October and I was in by mid-November. I like the anniversary home the best, which is what I chose and it suits my needs fine. The shower has good hot water and plenty of room. I'm happy with what I got and I made a good deal. The price and timing were both right. They even gave me a free, nice, big front porch with big wooden steps. Clayton at Lake Charles was great. The rep was on time and gave what he promised, and I was impressed with the way he hustled through everything.

We had issues with land survey and tests but other than that, it all went smoothly. Everything was great. It's nice to have a nice place to call your own to relax in. I've already recommended a couple of different friends to buy one, and one of them is actually purchasing.

She gave me her personal number and any time I had a question or called, she picked right up and answered them. The home is great as well. Since we moved in, their reps came in here and fixed the things that happened when the home was on the lot because it was being showed. But ever since then, we haven't had any problems. We had one issue and when I told them about it, they were out here the week after to fix it. So, they have done everything that they said they would and I'd recommend them. We purchased a double-wide home from Clayton and we chose the one in Corbin because the sales rep, Jeffrey, worked there. He was fantastic and he answered all of my questions. I really hated the built-in entertainment center in the living room and I didn't really love the other option which was a fireplace. So I kept going back and forth, but Jeffrey didn't push me either way. He said they could fix that and still get us a home in the time they said that they would. He was very helpful. I ended up not getting a fireplace or an entertainment center. I just got a blank wall there and I love that the best. I didn't know it was an option until he told me.
My husband liked the floor plan of this home the best and I settled for it because he loved it. I also liked that it's completely drywall and has no plastic walls. And it's very neutral that I could decorate it the way I wanted. But I was not very happy with the process of getting the home set up. The setup crew was a big disappointment and the process took a couple of weeks. When they actually got here to do the work, it seemed to go very quickly. But they came out once and did part of the work, then they couldn't come back for five days because somebody didn't have a driver's license. So, their setup crew was contracted out and only one person on that crew was a licensed driver and his car broke down. Other than that, working with Clayton got me to move back on my property and in my own home before Christmas. They also got it delivered onto the property in the time that they promised.

We bought a four-bedroom, single wide home from Clayton. All the other ones that we looked at had three and we really needed four without jumping up to a double wide. The price increased a good bit going from a single wide to a double wide and we were trying to keep as much of our money as we could without making any kind of bigger purchase. So, the home fits our needs right now. Our sales rep was a super nice guy and he always answered the phone when I called him. If it was something he couldn't help me with, he would refer me to the person that could or get them to call me. The actual moving and setup of the home went fairly quickly. At first, we were thinking it was going to take a little longer than we had hoped. But the weather stayed clear and the setup went fine.

I started the process on my own because we moved from Georgia to South Carolina. I toured every double-wide that Clayton had. I was looking for an extra room for a guest room plus my office. On a weekend, I brought my fiance in and we did the same thing. We picked out the same model. It was one of the largest models Clayton had right there. It had a huge master bedroom with a master bath. It had a separate tub and shower. The shower is what we really love because it has glass doors and sides to it. We like the way that it was built. The house also has a huge laundry room that could have been another bedroom. I have the little cubbies and everything in it where you can put coats or whatever you want to do with it. It has four bedrooms and two baths.
We were very satisfied with Clayon. I looked at three different places before in the process and I did not like the pushy salespeople and them following me from room to room when I'm trying to look at something. At Clayton, we had one salesperson that did just that. We've seen their guy William there and we asked him, "Can you just be our salesperson? I wouldn't want this other guy. I just got a bad vibe with him." William ended up taking over and it was such a smooth process. I liked the way that William talked to us. He wasn't pushy and if we had a question, he told us to call or text him. We did. He was so nice about the whole process. He was just so sweet and genuine. He was willing to help us any step of the way. We had an issue with the financing stuff to begin with where the lady that was handling it got fired in the middle of it and we were not told until three weeks later.
I kept wondering, "Why am I not getting a phone call back from her? Why am I not getting an email back from her?" Finally, somebody else called she was taking over as the initial lady we had was no longer here. We already put a deposit down on the double-wide and we were just so patient. William kept telling me, "I know all the hassle you're going through. But I guarantee, it's yours because I've already told my boss and everything." William made the process so much easier.

We stopped by a couple of different home builders, and we thought that the quality was pretty good with Clayton. They were very personable. They had a model on-site that was close to what we were looking at. It was presented as a model that was coming to the store, and we could get first dibs on it. It fit what we were looking for, so we did that. It was just not delivered the next week as they led me to believe. It was months. As far as the home, I like the way the living room is and the entertainment center area. It looks great. We're in our 70s now, so we wanted something small, and we have found that this is perfect. It has a spare bedroom and I've got an office out of the deal with the other bedroom. We also have a nice, spacious master bedroom.
The only drawback is the quality is a little bit lacking here and there. The molding that's around the house, the windows and the corners are loose and hanging out. The bathtub in the secondary bathroom had a gouge in it from when it was installed, so it had a hole cleaned through it. Clayton did finally send out a fiberglass repairman. There were some holes in the wall where the doors had slammed into the walls when they shipped it. Their solution for fixing it was just putting a little plastic doorstop over that hole. I still got my holes.
Thank you for choosing Clayton, Larry! We love the home model you chose for those exact features!

They got this company to deliver the home and set it up. And not only did Clayton communicate with me constantly, but the people that they had doing different things constantly communicated with me. I always had backup phone numbers to call people. If anybody didn't show up, they would always call or make other arrangements before the date.
My home was on the lot because someone had ordered it and could not get it. Because it was there, it only took 30 days to get it onto my property. But because it was a big time for selling, it was another three months before I got in the house. And scheduling the different things that had to be done. So far, I've been very happy with it. I have a complete year warranty as far as the Clayton services. And they've been great. There only has been one or two times that I said, "I need you to come out as soon as possible." The salesperson from Clayton Homes was fantastic from start to finish. We've been in the house for six months. A month ago, he called us just to see how we were doing. The scheduling and the construction part were frustrating though. The girl was new and she wasn't very organized. We closed on the house, and they did nothing for 28 days. Then, when they came out, they didn't even tell us somebody was coming out to the property. Luckily, the salesman called me and said, "Hey, we got a crew out there to do the foundation." It was a good thing I got out there because they were gonna put the house in the wrong place.
My biggest complaint to the office supervisor was communication. I can understand if there are scheduling conflicts with the subcontractors and they can't get anybody here in 28 days, but they could have called me and told me there was a problem with the subs. Communication is key to everything. They also didn't do a good job of coordinating.
As far as the home, my wife loves the accent wall when you first walked in the door. She loves that kind of farmhouse feels to it. There was a lot of light, so we weren't hurting for lighting. We looked at a Clayton home and a Brantley gentleman showed us the first one then he went and got a different job. The sales manager, Adam, took it over and he could have handed it off to somebody else but he kept it. We were paying cash, so I was a little worried about what would happen because we were paying for a lot of the stuff. But everything was really good. I already have a stressful job and he knew that we were going to be doing a lot of the work ourselves. We also had a significant delay with the county on the septic and he was trying to help us out with that too, especially for budgetary purposes. For somebody like us, we had the money and we were able to pay the difference. He was just very reassuring.
Getting the house moved was a lot quicker than I thought. Clayton moved it for us and did the setup. I had done the gutters through Clayton and we had to wait for some of the stuff that we were doing. We were expecting, "We can do all this," but we decided, "Go ahead and get somebody to do the gutter." We had asked them to do some of the other stuff that wasn't originally contemplated, that we were gonna do it. They were very agile. Also, I sat there and was like, "Oh, well, we can do this. We'll do all the brick work ourselves." Adam found us somebody else that they normally use. I was able to text all the time and just say, "Hey, what about you guys being able to do this? Can you give me a cost for that?" Clayton was very quick in responding. For somebody like myself that's paying cash, I need to know that estimate for budgetary purposes.
Clayton even sent somebody out and took pictures because we went all out on our deck. We have a nice deck and we did a lot of that work ourselves. We bought this for my daughter and granddaughter and son-in-law to move in. They were so excited and I was very blessed to be able to do this for them. It's perfect for them. They're just so happy and I couldn't be happier to be able to do that for them. It was a little overwhelming when I was putting that much money out of pocket into the home. But they've made it their home and doesn't matter if it's less than 1,000 square feet. They've made it beautiful and. You can take something like a standard basic package and change out some light fixtures and stuff. We've cleaned it out for next to nothing.
We did put a lot of money in the deck and it looks good. We've got it covered and they have the best view in the whole property. When Clayton came out, they just said, "You picked the wrong location for them..." They have a better location. I said, "I know. I'm beginning to wonder why put them out here." But that's okay. They're happy. I definitely recommend Clayton.

They said it was still gonna be dirty because of the workers that were putting it together. But even after they put it together, some stuff still wasn't right. In the master bathroom, there are two sinks and one of the sinks wasn't working. They had to order a sink. It took almost six months for them to get the sink to come. There were also soft spots on the flooring. It took them about eight months to come fix that.
Hi Kenneth, thank you for taking the time to share your feedback with us. The cosmetic issues you are mentioning is the very reason we insist on a final walkthrough of the home before the customer is handed the keys so that we can ensure all concern items are accounted for to complete repairs. We will share this feedback with our teams.

Clayton Homes that I deal with are very rude, neglectful, abusive and truly don't care about their customers. In 2021 I put $100,000 down on a home. It was built in Feb. 2022. We closed on the financing in June but no one wanted to do their job. Lots of broken promises, never a plan, never communication from them till the day they said our house would be here the next day. That was November 2022. First I was told 2 weeks to set up before moving in then told it;s always 6 weeks after delivery. Not true! Promised my home would be ready to move in Jan. 1st 2023. No one has been out here for months to finish anything and it's now mid April and still can't move in. It's not finished.
Clayton has robbed us of all my savings. In Nov. When old home was demolished we had to stay in motels we thought for only a couple weeks. Eating out everyday, driving back and forth to see my husband I had to place in a home as he is disabled in a wheelchair and needs care, storages for over a year, laundromats, 400% increase in electric bill after house was installed and so much more.
No job was done right. House at one end was underwater when it rained and they sent out terrible contractors crew to fix it but left it with house still lower, so useless. Told nothing but lies and excuses from the start and left broke because of their neglect or care. They had to pay our mortgage since it's their fault we are not in as I'm not paying for a house I can't live in. There are a list of things I can tell that's gone wrong but you get my point.
Clayton should fire its heartless, horrible employees. They also put the cost of things they forgot to add in price in paperwork so you don't notice that's their responsibility. They're sneaky! They won't even answer my calls or texts since January. So I'm stuck with a horribly put together house that costs $303,000 total which I could of had a stick built home built and living in it already for less money and stress and total inconvenience. Putrid!
Hi Jacqueline, we appreciate you reaching out and sharing this feedback with us. Clayton Homes strives to provide a world-class customer experience, and we were very sorry to hear that you weren't satisfied with our retailer's efforts to put you in this home. Due to financing aspects that we have no control over, there was a delay in securing funding for the home. Once the loan process was completed, we were able to start the permit process which took 2-3 months, including the demolition of the existing home on the property. Upon issuance of the permits, we immediately had the home delivered and set up. We completed all contractual obligations in late December 2022. You were unable to obtain a certificate of occupancy until late last week due to your home's well not producing enough water to properly operate the fire suppression system in the home. The additional pump needed was not part of Clayton's aspect of work.

The home-buying process with Clayton was awesome. Tommy and Jessica, the salesmen up there, went above and beyond. But their maintenance ain't worth a nickel. I got cracks in the ceiling from the move and all my GFI plugs in my three bathrooms haven't worked since about a month in. They were supposed to be sending somebody out there to fix that for me but they haven't come out yet. Aside from that, the cabinet doors are falling off and the house ain't seven months old. You look up there and whoever put it together looks like they missed a screw hole a couple of times before they got it right. They came back one time and said they had to get some ceiling techs and I ain't seen them anymore.
Then, if you set the heater on 75, you wake up and you're in a sauna. It'll be up on 90 right by itself and it will not shut off. If you cut the air conditioner and set it on 72, then you get up and you're wrapped up in a blanket like you're in Alaska. They tried to charge me $185 to swap it out to the person that come and installed the unit. But I told him that it was brand-new and it's been going on since it was new. Why did I pay $1700 a month and still have to pay for that when the trailer was brand-new?

The purchasing process ended up getting a little rough on both sides. But we got along and worked together really well to overcome the different road blocks in the way. But all in all, I felt like a mugging victim by the time I was done signing the papers which is standard among first-time home buyers. Most of that problem was caused by the real estate agent that was representing both the seller and myself. He wasn't very technologically conversant and nearly ruined the whole deal on closing day. The people I was buying the property from are very experienced at selling property. Like any normal human being with half a head on their shoulder, they want all the numbers to match up. They weren't matching up and he agent wasn't able to send them DocuSign documents, which are pretty standard in the business world these days.
talked to them for about two hours on the phone and got them calmed down. I got them to the point where they were willing to give me one more chance to make things come out right. Between the legal assistant and myself, we managed to make it happen. We saved the whole deal at the bottom of the ninth inning.
My only real problem with the home is that the trim work is just so cheap and shoddily installed that it falls off the walls without me touching it. Also, the door doesn't reach all the way to the floor. It's five inches short of it. I'm gonna replace them eventually with antique, solid wood doors that are gonna be trimmed down for the purpose. I kept asking for a diagram of the inner workings of the home where the control runs were on but I never got that. I gave up after asking for the sixth time.

We were looking at mobile homes and the Clayton home was the one my wife liked the best so that's the one we bought. We had some specific things that we wanted. My wife brought walls, ceilings, vinyl floor all the way through, and HVAC ductwork in the ceiling. We made some minor changes and Clayton was able to make all of those very easy to do when we sat down with the salesman. He was very good.
We're pretty happy with the home. We've been in it for a little over six months. We have a few snags which you always have with a new home and Clayton has been very responsive to take care of them when we call them and tell them we got a problem. It's just it takes us a little while for my schedule and their schedule to align. Sometimes, it's three or four weeks after I call them and tell them because they already have some work scheduled and I already have some work scheduled as well. We just have to work together so we can finally get it all together.
I still have a couple of issues that they've come out and worked on. They can't seem to get them fixed. We have vinyl siding and for some reason, we have two pieces that continue to pop loose. Technicians have come out and fixed it three or four times. They fixed it three weeks ago and now it's popped loose again. The guy said, "If it pops loose again, we're gonna have to do more work rather than just keep popping it in place. We're gonna have to probably dig into it and find out why it's popping loose." Something's got it in a bind. That's really been the only ongoing problem I have.
Hi Earnest, thanks for taking the time to share your feedback with us! We're glad to hear that you had a positive buying experience! We will continue to work with you to resolve the vinyl siding. Please let us know if you have any further concerns and we will loop in the appropriate parties for support.

I was extremely satisfied with the Clayton salesman. He's very nice. He was very understanding about stuff. It was very easy to give them stuff like my license and such that he needed. He was very patient with me on waiting for me to get my Social Security card because I didn't have it at the time. The only thing is they said that they would broom clean my house, but they didn't, and they tracked a crap ton of clay into my house before I even had a chance to move in. They didn't clean it up. They could have at least swept it up to where I could just easily mop it up when I moved in.
Also, they could make sure my well is properly insulated and that it won't have any problems to where I have to buy a new one. If there's a chance that they could help me have a deal as far as making me have a longer mortgage payment as far as year-wise to get a new one in for my house. I would do that because the one I got now, they said that it was fine, but it's not. So, I had to get a few things added to it to make it fine. That came out of my pocket because they own the property until I finished paying it off.

Rip from Clayton helped me out and he was so nice and understanding about my situation. He immediately tried to help me as much as he could. I really appreciate him for everything he helped me through and I absolutely adore my house. I really liked the layout of how the master bedroom is on the opposite side of the other one and I also liked the bar with the kitchen. It has a lot of storage, too. I bought land previously and I moved the home there. The crew was pretty cool. I know one of the maintenance guys, Gary. He was the one that did the walkthrough with me and Rip and he had all the answers to all the questions I had.

The process was quick and the young lady who helped me, Amber, was amazing. The process took a week and they had to do all the checks. The only negative thing was that it took a month and a half to get everything hooked up. Also, I had a problem with my electrical. The box to the into the trailer was defective and I lost half the power to my house during three days that it was below freezing. But, it worked fine. They had to put a new wire. Other than that, they were good people to work with. I got a good deal so I wasn't disappointed.
The quality of the build I got has been good. But I also understand that it is a mobile home so it's not up to the same standard as a stick-built home from a reputable builder. But it completely meets my specs and I'm happy with it.
Thank you for sharing your feedback, Henry!

Go and talk to Clayton Hones and see if there's something there that would fit your needs. If you compare it to having a home build, doing it with them is a lot easier. Everyone was knowledgeable and it went through smoothly. I started off with one guy named Matt and he got promoted. He was my contact for 90% of it. But at the end, it got shifted to someone else. We liked the floor plan on ours. The best was what it amounted to. And we liked the day lighting. It has little windows at the top for the ceiling. We also like the kitchen farmhouse sink and the garden-style pub. We liked the way the kitchen in this one was laid out the best.

My rep knew everything that we asked. I was impressed by his friendliness. I kept going back and forth to different mobile homes and he was really patient. He was not frustrated and he took his time with me. I picked out the Maverick which has dark wood trimming all around. But that's what I didn't want and I still don't like the look of it. Other than that, use Clayton Homes. They tell you everything upfront. They follow up on everything.

They were very easy to work with as far as what I wanted. They went to the factory a couple of times, coming back and forth with my questions. Eventually, because I had so many questions about specifics, they connected me to a representative at the manufacturing facility so they could answer me. I started working with the engineer there because that was the easiest thing to do.
I paid for all the upgrades and bought the top-of-the-line house. It's the Southern Charm, which is a double-wide, $300,000 home. The materials that are used to build it are the cheapest products on the planet. All the electrical outlets are the cheapest and they're not real. The wiring hasn't worked and I've had to have 11 plugs replaced. There are cracks on the sheetrock too. Also, I wanted a ceramic sink and they gave me a fiberglass one. I didn't know the fixtures were gonna be loose and that they were gonna be held by two screws. I also didn't know the faucets on the outside where you hook a hose up were held by two screws on a piece of wood.
Also, I got crown molding but they put cheap molding around the baseboard. They also gave me hollow cheap doors that started splitting. They weren't even glued right. They had to pay for all my doors to get replaced as they gave me the wrong ones. I also had staples sticking out of the floor that had to be hammered down. I could build my own home for cheaper than $300,000 with better materials. The people are great, but I didn't get enough information on the front end to tell me what the quality of products were going into the house. Somebody made bank on these houses. They're overpriced. Just because you can get away with it doesn't mean you do it. Just because the market bears it doesn't mean you charge it.

The home-buying process with them was pretty fast. My rep was very informative. She gave me all the pros of the house and gave me a lot of options. We got a home that was made for somebody else. They were gonna re-customize it. It was the best option for me and my family. I love my kitchen. My favorite part is the sink that has a window. So, any time I'm doing dishes, I can look outside. Also, I love the island I have. It's a lot of counter space and it's especially good for cooking. I love the bathroom as well. I have a bathtub and a lot of room. We also have the walk-in closet off of the bathroom and we go through all of our clothes when we're done with our bath. It's really big and I like that area.
Without Clayton, I wouldn't have a home. They really turned my home-buying experience around because I was like, "Oh, I'll never buy a house". But I would definitely buy another Clayton.
Selena, we're so happy that you have had such a wonderful experience! Thank you so much for choosing Clayton Homes!

Nobody assisted me like how Clayton Homes did. It was incredible. And within two times of going there, we already had paperwork and got things going. So, I was so pleased with them. Any time I messaged them about anything, they were Johnny-on-the-spot. Quick about getting back with me about everything. I was nervous because I'm single, it's my property and everything's my responsibility. So, when they brought this large piece in, I had to clear out some stuff and they provided the services for me to do everything I needed. They made it easy. Everybody was very helpful. Shout out to the entire crew and big thank you to Tristan. He is the man. He is the one to see any time I had a question about anything. This was my first time doing this, so I had many questions. He was always super sweet about everything.
On the move, the door jiggled, so it wasn't locked. They usually would complimentarily leave a door unlocked. But that door shifted and it wouldn't open. So, I called Tristan. He lives a good hour away from me. He drove over here with the key for me to get into this house, on his off-time so I could get it and start moving furniture because it was about to get bad weather again and my house was physically leaking into my house. He was on it.
This model is good. Mine is a 60-something feet x 6 feet. So, it's wide in here and there's a lot of room. They need to make more single wides with a master bath like that because they would sell more. Also, it has that curve and it goes around and you can come back to this room and to the bathroom and the washroom. It has that dip around with that mirror. So, it makes it look bigger and it doesn't feel like the typical trailer. Getting into this was like moving into a castle.
I even went online and posted a review, and everybody that I talked to that said they had interest in the trailer sale or any kind of interest in buying a trailer, I told them to not mess with anybody else. It may take a minute if they have to order it or if they were trying to get up with the different utility companies to get things done. That can take time, but it's not their fault that it takes time to do it. It would have took them that long no matter who we went with. And even when I was first going through it, the rep had to break it down to me. I said, "I need it now." He made it happen. It was within three and a half months. But they extended when the payment would have normally been due. My payment wasn't due until January. They extended that because it was late coming in by a couple of weeks. I told Clayton Homes I would recommend them to anyone.
We appreciate your feedback so much, Kimberly! Thank you for choosing us to help start your new home journey!
