Overall, I'm very satisfied with the home buying process through Clayton Homes. Everybody that I dealt with was incredible. They got me a beautiful perfect home that I'm in love with, and it just couldn't have been a better experience. Greg was wonderful. He took time and talked with me multiple times about picking the right home for me and picking out everything in the home. He spent a lot of time with me and made sure I was getting what I wanted. I'm so in love with my home. I could not have asked for anything better. It turned out better than I ever anticipated. There wasn't a lot model on the lot for me to look at for the specific home that I got, so I ordered everything offline. When it arrived, it's better than I ever could have imagined.

Clayton's website is user-friendly and the rep we got could answer about any questions we threw at him. But they got the ID thing wrong at first and we got the wrong modular. Then they made it up to us and upgraded our porch. The home is really nice and I like it.

I was very satisfied with Clayton Homes. The rep was fantastic. I couldn't ask for a better person. She treated me like family. Anytime I had a problem with some of the stuff that I was getting that I had to do, she walked me through it. She was there for me. We did some modifications to the house to satisfy us. In one bathroom, I had a walk-in shower put in because I can't get in and out of the tub. They accommodated me for that and they made the steps for me to get up and down. They went beyond what they needed to do.

Bought this home brand new!!
2. Not one door level. They all are hanging wrong and gapped at the top.
3. Nails are coming up under the vinyl floors.
4. Within 3 months two door handles broke. Cheap fixtures.
5. Electric switches wired wrong and needed to be replaced.
6. Siding bowed and pulled away from the home.
7. Had to redo piping under the sink, was leaking.
8. Interior trim pulling away from the walls.
9. Inspector stated none of the windows were sealed on the outside.
So, this is just a heads up that these homes are poorly constructed and not covered by Clayton Homes even if you purchase an extended warranty. (Don't.)
Mr. Richard, thank you for reaching out to Clayton! We apologize for the delay in reaching out to you, as well as for the issues that you've experienced with your home. I purchased a manufactured home for over $200,000 with Clayton Homes, Jonesboro, AR. I had issues since the day the home was put down but they usually remained in contact and eventually corrected the items addressed. I have been trying to get a resolution to the final issues but was told by Pam that they will let me know when they can get to it, no date, not estimated call back, just when they can get to it. There are still siding pieces that are on the ground, the septic tank they installed is visible, wasn't covered up properly, the air conditioner unit was poorly installed and is sliding and tilting due to putting the unit on a dirt pile that shifts with each rain.
They do not care what mess is left behind only that they do the work and I guess it is the purchaser's responsibility to clean up after them. I found beer cans, garbage, rocks and cigarette butts everywhere. We pay too much money to have to clean up or pay for their clean up. Customer service is poor once they feel they are done. Find another company that takes pride in their work and customer satisfaction.
Hi Shelli, thank you for reaching out to us regarding these concerns. We want our customers to have a positive experience, and we're sorry to hear that you have had these issues, as this is not the interaction we want you to have when purchasing a Clayton home. We have spoken with the retailer and they have advised us they are in communication with you to address these items. Our customer advocacy team will continue to monitor the matter until resolved. Christy was wonderful. She never treated me like I didn't have any money, which I appreciate. I own several businesses myself. I'm very proud and humble. I walked in with normal clothes as everybody else and I spent $210,000 cash. Not even knowing how much money I had, she treated me really well. As far as Clayton Homes, they had the house on the lot. It took me a month to get my lot ready and it only took them a couple of weeks to get it out and get it set up. I got the Lulamae, which is a double-wide and is exclusively through Clayton Homes, and its quality is great.

The first rep I started out with in Clayton didn’t work out good and I went to the one in Dublin, and they were with me until I got in my home. The model was nice for the price I could afford. The quality is alright though there are some things in there that maybe should have been better. Clayton’s reps have been coming and doing little cosmetic stuff. They still gotta come back. Clayton communicates very well. They are very transparent, try to put you in the best situation and truthful about everything. They are good people that I dealt with.

My wife did a lot of shopping around before we went to Clayton. They usually give $2,500 gift cards and my wife was hoping we were gonna get something like that, but we didn't. Process-wise, my wife had messaged Clayton and it took us about two months to actually come into the office. once I got into the office, it took about a month to get everything signed. The move into my trailer took a good six months because they had to order it. The home is not the best of quality but I was told that when I bought the trailer because it was basically getting more space. I traded a lot of space for the quality of the material.

Clayton's home buying process was good. At the time, I had back surgery so they pretty much did everything for me. They helped me a lot to get my house. They would send me information on my cellphone and through emails. That way, I didn't have to go all the way down there as I wasn't able to travel. There were some things I couldn't do online and I had to go down there. But they had things ready for me and all I had to do was walk in, sign, and I was good to go. The process went fast. My rep helped me as much as she could with everything. She emailed me whatever. I would recommend Clayton.

We were looking to buy our first home and deciding whether we wanted to build or go with manufacturers. Clayton was right there by the house so we stopped by. It took a few of us walking through a couple of their houses. There was one that wasn't put together and we were only seeing half of it but my wife told them that we just love the front porch. In the end, we chose a southern farmhouse. It's a three-bedroom house with two baths double wide. The biggest thing my wife liked was the entertainment center in the living room. I liked the kitchen, on the other hand.
There are some things in the house that could be changed. For example, the strips that go around the doors were just put on with finishing nails. That aside, working with Clayton was good because we would not have found a mobile home that we liked otherwise. Our salesperson, Vicky, also helped us every step of the way and made the process really easy. The process took a couple of months.

I'd give Clayton Homes' customer service an A. The staff and people here were great, and they still are. If I had a problem, they were right on it. But the product, a C-plus. The house itself seems to be good. But the appliances and fixtures need to be a higher quality. It would be a great place. And a lot of the paint on the interior was very cheap. Most people have it redone in here, because it's the lowest grade paint you can get. Baseboards are terrible. I expected a bit more. It's a good, quiet, safe place. But I was disappointed with the park and the gym. It's a lot smaller than where I came from. And it's not adequate.

They helped me through every step of the way. I worked hard to get my credit built up. But I didn't know where I really stood. I had no clue about buying houses at all. This is my first time ever. When we had a really cold freeze, my bedroom window cracked. I contacted Robin and she reached out to the manufacturer. They said that it would be an insurance claim. But she went ahead and looked in their warehouse, and they had one. She had her maintenance guy come out and replace it for me.
We're still waiting to get the sewer hooked up. The inspector from the state that had to come out and inspect the electric, claimed it wasn't 220 coming down the pole from the main power line. I told him that seven years prior, we had a new meter box put in. It was all approved through the electric company that they had even come and done the work. He insisted he had to cut the seal to look. He said, "Nope, not 220," and wouldn't pass us. Called the electric company and they came out. He said that was not 220.
The only difference I could see was the wire that we had coming down the pole was a little bit smaller in diameter than what Clayton had coming from the house to the pole. But we went ahead and had somebody hook up the same-looking wire. But then he didn't even show up for the re-inspection until the day after he was scheduled to be here. The electric company was very upset that he cut the seal. He was not allowed to. They said that any time that happens that somebody's wanting to cut that seal, tell them, "Contact the electric company," and they will send somebody out. I thought, being a state inspector, he should have known that information, that you got to have power company permission to cut the seal, not the land permission. Because he denied us like that, it delayed us another week in being able to get into my house. But it all worked out in the end. We're in and it's awesome.

Clayton Homes had the better build. Also, Jim was good. He made sure that he took care of us. Clayton did everything that they could on the buying process. But once they got the house out here, they forgot about it. We bought the house in July and we still have not had a final walkthrough or our home. I couldn't get ahold of anybody at corporate. My salesman, Jim, is not there anymore. So, I have no clue who I'm supposed to talk to when I go up there or when I call in. We called back in November because we couldn't get ahold of anybody and I kept asking for Danny, which is the manager up there.
I called for three days straight and they were, "He's in a meeting," or, "He's not here today," or, "Give me your number and I'll have him give you a call." I finally was, "I'm going to call corporate if I cannot get ahold of Danny." Finally, Danny personally called me off his cellphone and was, "I'm so sorry. I've been really busy." He sent Miles and his son out. They're the only people that they have working for them to come and fix things.
Even corporate couldn't get ahold of them. Finally, Miles came out. He was told me that it would be a couple of months before he could come out and fix anything because he's about to have a rotator cuff surgery that week. So, he's down for six to eight weeks. And he said that it has been like this since October and he has been telling them that they need to find someone to replace him while he's down yet they never did. So, we have six to eight weeks that we still have to wait even longer to get the rest of the stuff fixed in the house. Nobody from Clayton has contacted me.
Miles has been out here twice already, but he's only here for two days, and they sent him back to Northern Arkansas. So, he never got to finish what he was doing here. It feels like the floor joists are coming apart. Miles has to come in and peel back the flooring to check the floor joists. And it's not just one. It's all the way down the house. And, our sink, Miles said that he would have to have the people who actually put the countertops in come out and do it. But he caulked it because when they moved the house in, the board underneath the sink where the faucet's at snapped. So now, where the faucet is at, it's sagging and collects water. There have been many issues.

My husband and I were supposed to get a different plan, but the prices of materials skyrocketed. So, we couldn't afford it anymore. That delayed our process. And there was financial stuff. We had to delay that as well. So, it was extremely stressful. It almost took us a year. My salesperson didn't want to tell me and hurt my feelings because we were getting to the point where we wouldn't be able to afford the plan that we chose. And she wanted to try to give other options before telling me that we wouldn't be able to afford it anymore. But she called me one day and said that a plan fell through on another couple and they had a modular that was already built that we could afford. She didn't sell it to anyone else until I went to look at it. The lender wouldn't answer my calls, texts or emails. It took months to even get in touch with them. Clayton Homes had to interfere because it got to the point where they were waiting on the lender just so we could close.

We signed the contract with Clayton to lock in our price and set in what we wanted, and the process went from there. The living room, kitchen, and dining room is an open plan. The home that we got has two living areas, which I was not a fan of. What I wanted was a larger main living room. But the only thing we could find was one small living room or two living rooms.
We have two boys, so we decided that we would turn the other living room into a den play area for them. So that was what we ended up doing with ours. They have their bedrooms and my husband's office on one end of the house, along with their den, and then the main bedrooms on the opposite side. The quality of the build is okay. It's not the best. There's a lot of thinner materials. It's not as heavy duty as some, but for us and for right now, it's fine.
We did switch out and have another door put in by going out of my kitchen, and we put a sliding patio door there. But everything else was pretty much fixed on this home. There wasn't a whole lot you could actually choose from, which was okay because I liked the layout, so there wasn't a whole lot on that part that we needed to change anyway. My favorite part is the bar area in the kitchen. It is a very large island bar area, and it works out perfect for our family.

We have panel outside, the plastic sheeting, which looks separated yet I'm told that's normal. But if I go on the lot and see them, it doesn't show that bad. The flooring was ripped. When I first saw the Clayton Homes on the lot, I was real impressed. They were real clean and real airtight. It was really cool, even though it was a sunny day, and I thought it would solve my problem of having my home burned down in the campfire. But we couldn't locate it on the spot where my house was. So it's out here 50 ft. from where my house was and I don't wanna be there. I wanna be by my dog yard where my house was. So I'm in this little garage type thing, and I gave Clayton Home to my son and my grandson.
We've had some trouble with the appliances. First, the furnace wouldn't work. We asked for some help, and no one would help us with that. The furnace company itself is sending us a refund, and I had to sign some papers saying I wouldn't sue them. Now, the hot water heater doesn't work. I was a little bit disenchanted about the contractors that Clayton Homes has working. They both came up and did the work with no permits and they just wanted to get paid. The second one about the electric system were off the grid, and they put up a big solar panel thing and a real pretty complicated generator, battery set up. We've had nothing but problems with that. The generators wouldn't put out any power and the battery was blinking like an alarm, like it might blow up.
Hi Barbara, thank you so much for taking the time to share your feedback. We want all of our Clayton Homes customers to have a wonderful experience. We apologize for your frustrations thus far. The setup contractor says despite the you having a large piece of property that there was just one place the home could be installed at. He said there was no better location for the home to be placed. The installation of the skirting was refused to be paid for by the customer's family and fired the setup contractor and would not let him finish the skirting on the home. The home is setup (other than the skirting) and the interior trim was done and paid for by the client too. The client was to pay directly for all items other than the home itself. The contractor installed a new septic, new water line, steps, set the home and even framed for the skirting. The situation became difficult due to your son taking over the project and firing contractors paid by Clayton. The son was advised that he needs to install a residential propane tank, yet he insisted on using a BBQ size (5 gallon) propane tank. This is not acceptable by the county. This and several other factors have been beyond our control even though we would like to help you resolve this situation.

We stopped at another trailer park but they weren't helpful to me at all. When my sister and I walked into Clayton, it was like they knew us from the beginning. The guys were fantastic. When I filled out the paperwork to try to get it, it took a small army to have this dummy know what she was putting on paper. They were very helpful and they have been ever since. Generally, when a man is helping you, if it isn't family, they look down on you, that you don't know anything. They didn't do that there.
I'm not happy with a couple of things but Clayton came and tried to fix it because the manufacturer didn't seem to think it was worth it. The floor along the wall in the main bathroom in one end of the trailer is on a slant towards the wall. I had knee surgery, I'm 78 years old, and that tilted floor was a problem. They fixed it as best they could, though it's still not the way it's supposed to be.
There were also a few issues with the trailer when I bought it. Within 30 days, anything I found wrong was supposed to have been fixed. There are still a few things, but they're working on it. They're doing the best they can to get what I want. They are going to come in and wire the ceiling fans for me at no charge. The electric stove was different. The one I looked at was a flat top and that was what I wanted. They got me the flat top and brought it in. I wanted a storm door and they've got a storm door on order for me. I would tell anybody that wanted to buy a home to go to Clayton because they make sure you get what you want. They make sure that it's the way it's supposed to be when you move in.

The reps at Clayton Homes were very informative. Kelly was very easy to work with. We texted back and forth he always responded quickly. The price on the Clayton home was half of what a similar stick-built home would be, but the manufacturing process took considerably longer than we were anticipating. Covid played a role in that, but the manufacturer built it incorrectly the first time. If the manufacturer had paid attention and built it correctly the first time, then we would have been in the home about three months quicker. Other than that, it was a good experience overall. We opted for the top-of-the-line kitchen and it's great. We've got a kitchen island and the cabinets are great. The bathroom shower is a tile shower that was why we special ordered. We're very pleased with it. The quality has been good. There have been some issues, but Clayton Homes has taken care of that very well too.

They would get a different salesperson and a new manager in and they would tell me, "No, we can't honor what the other manager or salesperson told you." It was a hassle. But the salesperson and the manager that I worked with towards the end did a decent job. The quality of the home is on the lower end. It's not great, but it's to be expected for the lower-end homes. It was different countertops and different appliance setup. We ended up waiting another six months for the house to be built again. The manager was great. But we had two salesmen replaced because of what had happened. We finally got to move in last July. Everything is great so far. But I have noticed that one of the door trims outside was painted with the wrong kind of paint. It's an indoor paint instead of an outdoor paint, so it's flaking. Also, the siding has to be adjusted a little bit on the sunny side of the house. We've called them three or four times to come repair the siding and they got the work order in for the door to be repainted.

Everything went smoothly with Clayton and the reps were very upfront. The application process took a little bit long, but that wasn’t their fault. It was me getting the proper paperwork and getting everything. It was right at five months. The home is great and we love it. The reps came in and set it up. After they hooked everything up, it worked properly. I would recommend Clayton.

The reps have been very good. They get back to me in a timely manner and they answer my questions. The build I got is very good. But I suggest that they have their contractors contact customers where to position things. They put our grinder pump too close to the house. Also there were minor door adjustments. If you're gonna get a new house, pick one where you can make changes to as they're building it. They didn't have enough flexibility with some of the models. We could pick out just color stuff. We wanted a bigger shower where the bathtub is, and they wouldn't do it.

The home buying process was great. We did a few modifications with the house because the house we had seen was already sold. When we decided on that style, they ordered the house for us. We chose the Tahoe and how it comes out of the laundry room into the master bathroom, we had that one door removed. Also, we had the shower extended a little bit and the toilet moved. In the actual living area, instead of a carpet, we got vinyl rug. I love it. That's the way we wanted it and that's what they made for us.
We had dry wall cracks that came with the moving process of the mobile home but those were fixed quickly.

I had an excellent experience with Clayton Homes. My agent helped me all the way through the process. Her name was Ashley. There never was a nasty attitude. Every time I called, she was always polite. When she was out, she always had somebody else to answer the questions or help me out. They were keeping me informed. At first, when I got there, I thought it was a quick process. But now I know it takes a while because there's a lot of information you got to give and they got to verify everything.
The home that I got is a four-bedroom and two-bath. It came furnished with a den, a dining room, and a living room. It came with the furniture. That's what made me pick on that. It has a nice kitchen area as well. It's a spacious mobile home. The only thing I didn't like about the bathrooms was they didn't have cabinets you can put your personal items in. They just got this one sink and the cabinets below. I also wish it had a little bit more space in the closet. It's spacious enough, but I got a lot of clothes, so I have to put my clothes in the other bedroom. But overall, I would recommend them to Clayton Homes. They treated me well and I was very well satisfied.

We bought our home Feb 2022 and all was great when we moved in. Whenever we had an issue they would come and fix. However, when the 6 month mark came for our piers to be adjusted under our home, W5 the company that does this for them, adjusted incorrectly and our Marriage line that separates the home buckled leaving our floors like a roller coaster between our living room and our kitchen. They had a private person by the name of Derek come out and remove our flooring 2 times and the first time he tried fixing it was still very crooked and not flat at all, 2nd time he came he poured cement/putty in the marriage line and that still did not fix anything! Last we heard he either quit or they fired him.
I called Lane the manager and she tried multiple times for W5 to come out and fix/adjust the piers, she finally said to file a complaint through AZ Department of Housing because they are refusing to fix. We did this and they have been sitting on it for over 3 months. The person who we are dealing with cares nothing about our case (Jeff **). This is extremely poor business customer service and I am appalled that this is the kind of care we are receiving. This is a large company that has the power to take care of this but instead they are trying to say that since they gave me money for flooring soon after we moved in our home, that it voids anything that they need to do. Mind you! This is for flooring! Not the bottom structure of our house that W5 ruined! This is causing me extreme stress and it is affecting my sleep and health. I truly wish this company cared about the people that live in their homes. Remember word of mouth travels.
Mrs. Laura, thank you for reaching out to Clayton Homes and sharing this feedback with us. We are sorry to hear about the issues that you are experiencing with your home. We have reached out to Clayton in Glendale, as well as the facility that built your home. At this time, Clayton has completed all warranty service and has provided a settlement for the cost of the flooring; new flooring has been installed by a contractor of your choosing, and that contractor holds liability for the installation of the new flooring. At this time, we understand that you have been in contact with the Arizona Department of Housing and will await the results of that inspection.

The sales manager at Clayton Homes was very knowledgeable. However, the way the house came from the manufacturer was unacceptable. The project planner who monitors these was horrible. We ordered our house in October. The dealership said they were on backorder and to please plan appropriately. We told them our lease was up in July. They said they spoke to the project planner. They could have it done as long as there were no issues with it coming from the manufacturer.
We did a ranch home package, so my husband was going to clear and grade and do the house pads. He instructed where to park the house. But they parked it in the way of everything we needed to do our house by. The house sat up the road for months and months untouched. They rushed it together in the 30 days before we had to be in here. The project planner did not communicate with us what was going on and what we needed to do as far as power. We contracted ourselves. He had no idea what was going on on site out here. We were here every day, checking to see what was going on, and making calls to get the power run.
We had to be in the house by the 12th and be out of our rental. That was the very last day. The house wasn't done. The dealership allowed us to move our belongings in so we wouldn't have to put them in storage then move it back. When we came in here, the manager and the sales associate were here. We did a walkthrough. We paid $200,000 but the house was horrible.
There were staple places all over the walls. Every single floor in here has been scratched and ripped. Underneath our floors, we had nails and debris. There are trims coming off the walls. We opted not to go with carpet. Clayton's rectifying that. They sent out someone from corporate and they're replacing all our floors. However, it has been a shamble. All the lines we marked to run somewhere else, the contractor put them in the way of where my husband had to dig. But the dealership has been very, good. They still call us up to ask, “Is everything okay? Anything we could do for you?” If it wasn't for that dealership, I would have walked away from this house immediately.

It was quick and easy to choose a trailer and get approved by Clayton. However, I am fairly disappointed with the quality of the trailer. It's cheaply made. I could barely lean on the cabin, you could feel them move, you could even see them move. I had to fix the bathtub because there was a flaw in its design where the water just went right down the side of the tub and not in the tub. I rebuilt the closet because the racks that came with it were cheap. The dishwasher is also cheap and I need to upgrade that. But everything with Clayton is excellent. I'd buy from Clayton again. Just the manufacturers of the home I have some issues with.

As far as the particular model that I chose, I liked the square footage and how everything looked inside. My wife fell in love with it. It was for my kids because I have a bunch of them. So, it's a four-bedroom home. There's been a couple of things that needed to be done and we've been in contact with them. The flooring has bubbled up a little bit because it has linoleum flooring, and then there was a broken window that it came with. They fixed that right away. As soon as we communicate everything to them, they come out and try and get it done as quickly as possible.

The homebuying process was very easy. However, the house has had a lot of errors. The trim has fallen apart, and I had AC problems. The flooring is also loose, and I've noticed a lot of chipping on the floor ‘cause the trim is not paint. It's vinyl on top of the wood, so anything that gets close to it scuffs up the vinyl. Clayton Homes came and repaired it, but it’s still having issues. Now, it's the trim around the front door. We closed the door, and the trim board came off. Last week, they came and fixed the trim board around the closet. ‘Cause we closed the closet, and those doors came off. Also, they nailed the carpet in all kinds of different positions to the floor, and the nails didn’t go all the way through. So, when we walk barefoot on the carpet in the kids’ rooms, we can feel the nails poke the bottom of our feet.

There were a bunch of miscommunications that happened and I almost just told them to keep the house. Even now that I have the home, there are still things that need to be repaired. They've sent somebody out a couple of times.
They brought the trailer and the plumber who hooked the trailer up didn't even hook the drains in. After a month that we were showering, the whole bottom side of the insulation fell out because it was so filled with water. Also, the air conditioner leaked out in the walls and they sent somebody to fix it but one of the walls is bowed out real bad. I showed them when the home got to the lot before we even got set up and moved in, but they said that's supposed to be fixed by the manufacturer. I hadn't heard anything back on that. Then, one of the cabinets in the hall is completely not square at all. It looks like a blind three-year-old put it in. I wanted that fixed but it hasn't been fixed. I will never buy from Clayton Homes again.

But as it gets settling, the walls, the doors and stuff in it ain’t working like they should. The back door is never set right since they’ve set it. You gotta slam it to get it to shut or it’s got about a half-inch gap in it. They sent somebody up who was supposed to have fixed it, but they didn’t. For the cabinet doors, some of them are off about two inches. There’s a bunch of stuff that could have been done better and could’ve been fixed differently.

Clayton Homes helped me make a big decision. I'm originally from Louisiana. And we actually purchased here in Katy, Texas. So, we purchased from the Brookshire location, and we found the spot to put the mobile home. So, we actually started a new life here. When I went in to them, I explained my situation. And they explained everything start to finish. It's quick and easy because they tell you everything that you need upfront. So, by the time you come back, you could just start the process and get the ball rolling.
I worked with Miss Wendy. She was helpful and very patient. Every question I had, she had answers. I was impressed with How much she took the chance to get to know my background. I have kids. And she took all that into consideration when it came down to financing options and picking out the right home for us. I was looking at a double-wide because it's bigger, but I ended up going with a smaller one because of the prices. Wendy took me in to four different single-wide models. And I was, “I like this one, but they got this and this and that.” And I came in to the one that we’re seeing, and I loved it.
The master bathroom has a garden tub, which is what I wanted. The kids' room are big enough for the kids, which is what they needed. So, everyone has their own space. But a few of the things in the home break very easily. The strips are coming down. So, I sent in a work order with that. And they're supposed to come out and take care of everything.

My aunt and uncle purchased a property through Clayton Homes. We also purchased around the same time because we purchased right next door to each other. The model that we chose was already on the property when we bought it, but it very much suited our family. We have three girls, a set of twins and an older daughter, and the way it was sectioned off there towards the back of the house and the open floor plan worked out very well for us.
Clayton Homes was trying to build quickly in the area, and if they could have slowed down a little, it would have been a little better. Other than that, it's not horrible. We have called them on a couple of issues to have them come out and fix them. A couple of issues, they’ve sent us the pieces to have it fixed. There were trim pieces that they said, “Well, that's not our responsibility.” So, we had to go through and fix them. We have had some bigger issues as well, including a roof leak during a rainstorm, and they had somebody in the area who came over and helped fix it.
We also had an issue at the time of closing. We got a call from our daughter at school and had to go pick her up and bring her with us to the closing. We called and told them, “Hey, we've got a issue. I know we need to close.” They said, “You know what? We'll hold. Please go get her. Do what you need to do. We'll wait.” We were very satisfied with everything. They went out of their way and met us out here. The guy with Clayton Homes that took care of us was wonderful. Any question we had, he made sure he did his very best to get the answer and helped us along with the long process. However, we've had trouble with some of the interior like the ceilings and the walls. We've had to have them come out quite a bit. We're waiting on them to come back out to do some more work on the house. They are pretty quick to come out but I don't feel like they focus on fixing the problem. It's more or less of covering the problem.

We had a referral from someone who had a good experience with Clayton Homes and we had the same. Everything was nice and smooth from start to finish. Our sales rep, especially since we were 1,400 miles away, made the process easy for us, made sure we knew what we needed to do, when, and found that it went smooth all the way through closing, which we had to do virtually.
We liked that we could go room by room and select certain flooring options and wall colors. We were able to get it close to what we wanted it to without having to add much cost. I love that our home is a finished sheetrock. It's nice and spacious. The quality of the vinyl floor with the kids and the dog is great. We've had some basic service stuff that they told us might pop up in the early time there. We called and they were very responsive. We've appreciated the process and recommended them when we've had the opportunity. We'll continue to do so.

Their communication was good, till the camper came. It didn't have the right countertop and the paint was not the color. They also didn't hook the bathtub up. It was running up under the house. The sewage didn't get hooked up. I paid the landscaping man but he couldn't finish his job till that got completed. They had to come back numerous times because of the leaking things in the bathroom.
The paint job and the finishing work were the worst I've ever seen. It's still undone. They didn't paint down to the baseboard. The nails are sticking halfway out of the wood. I'm gonna have to have it done by someone else. Sometimes they also didn't show up when they said they were gonna show up. There was a place in the back for the siding and it's still not fixed. But the tech came right out and he finally tried to glue it together for me.

The people at Clayton Homes Alexandria treated me well. You couldn't ask for better people. We had to buy a new home because we lost ours to the storm. They realized what we were going through. They, for the most part, bent over backwards to help us. They answered every question I had and didn't hesitate either. The day we bought the home, it started raining. We had to wait for it to dry up so they could come in. It was too wet to come in with the truck. Once it was there, that was a whole another different ball game. We were dealing with covid. We were waiting on parts. It took a couple of weeks for all the parts to get there to put everything back together on the inside. But that was nobody's fault.
We had minor issues with the home. Within two or three days, somebody was there but we had to wait two to three weeks on parts. For instance, whenever they put it back together, they ordered all our material. They said that comes out of Missouri and were gonna ship it out in two weeks. Whenever they got to Alexandria, they were closed down because they all had to go home with covid. The truck had to take my material back to wherever it came from. In two weeks, they came back and delivered it. It had been a frustrating nightmare that nobody could help.

The communication was fine. The rep was very helpful and knowledgeable, giving me references who to get it set up with. And everything went smoothly. However, I was disappointed because there were no shelves in the cabinet. There was no door on the closet in the master bedroom. Some of the receptacles were crooked. Which don't matter to a lot of people. But if I was a supervisor and he did that, I would have made him fix it. Also, the bathtubs weren't caulked when they came from the factory. The repairman from Clayton Homes caulked them for me. We just made a point for him to come, and he came straight out and did it. But I don't understand why they don't caulk that when they make the trailer. I would have done that differently. But the repairman did well in coming out and fixing.

Purchasing with them was very simple. Everything was explained to us. Their rep David worked really well with us. I was able to call him anytime and he was able to help throughout the whole process. He let us walk around their lot and see what they had. He gave us our personal space. I went through each house and picked out what we liked and didn't like. We ended up going with the second one we walked through. We absolutely loved it. It had a nice stone fireplace and the shower was huge. My fiance at the time and I had a checklist of what we wanted and what we didn't like. That one had all the stuff we wanted and none of the stuff we didn't want. So, it was meant to be.
The house has three bedrooms so if we ended up expanding our family, it had room for that. It was also very open. My wife likes the kitchen. The closet space was nice too and she likes that as well. Some friends have looked at the house and they're really impressed with it. It's not completely up to standard as a built house would be but it's perfect for us. Visually, everything's fine. I recommend Clayton for Sure.

My husband and I have been married 26 years and this is our fourth home. Stevie, our home consultant, was great. We walked onto the lot and walked through four models and went, "We like this one," and went in the office. We took it as is, all the finishes. We got the four-bedroom and it's big, which is great. It has a slider door that we always wanted. And it was right in the right price range after all the additional work was done, the decks, the foundation block. We had to have blocks put on for our mortgage. It had to have a certain foundation on it. The rep knew that mortgage company and exactly what they had to put on it. So, they knew how much they had to increase it. And we found the property shortly after we picked out the home. So, it came together.
I was fine with the process but I would have liked to get a weekly email once we got our home. There were times when I felt I had to call to know when they would be coming out. It wouldn't have to be a call, just an email or a text message saying, "For this week, we won't be out," or "This week, the foundation work will get done." But once I called, they were always very nice. They never seemed like I was bothering them, which was good. The only bad thing is, on some of the models, they couldn't get the screen doors now because of the shipping issues. At least when we ordered it back in March last year, they couldn't get them then. I just wish I had one of those now. But we'll work on that this summer, get one from Home Depot and install it.

I was with my mom, and she gave us both little goody baskets. She went above and beyond. Everything we've had wrong with the mobile home, she's gotten somebody out there to fix it for us, and it's always within a reasonable time. Overall, the quality of the home was really good. But there were several things that we had to have fixed. My personal opinion is that the price was a little much because of the quality of things. But as far as the looks, we loved it. For me, that's what sold it.

As far as the sales, everything has been great. The salesman has been there for me. But the setup has been miserable. I'm still trying to get my countertop in my bathroom fixed. They were supposed to be back in two weeks to repair it. The foundation that Clayton Homes put in was horrible. We've had to reinforce. If my son-in-law and my grandson hadn't put the air conditioner on blocks after the person that set the air conditioner left, it would have already toppled into my lawn.
First of all, they flooded the home out so they had to redo the whole house because nobody bothered to check when they turned on the water to make sure there weren't any leaks. We didn't have keys to get in. So it wasn't until we noticed the ground over there was so saturated that we called Clayton Homes, and the whole back of the trailer had been flooded and had to be redone.
We still have to climb underneath because they never taped up the underbelly where they cut it to let it drain and to dry it out. I had to get some tape and get under there and do that. I still have a couple of issues that haven't been fixed. It's just been a horrible experience. They tell you they're gonna be back because they don't have the proper stuff and then they never come back. I feel sorry for the person that I bought the trailer from because I'm constantly having to bug him. We've been in this trailer since August. They didn't check the sinks to make sure that the drains were installed properly. It's just been nothing but problems.

The experience with Clayton was good and the communication was there. Anytime we had questions, the reps were always willing to answer those and help us out in any way that they could. We just showed up and the only thing I would complain about is that the salespeople weren't involved with us when it came to touring all of the homes, trying to get an idea. They handed us a master key and told us to just go look at everything. We found the one that we wanted and they told us that they didn't have it and that it was gonna come in but it was a long process. It's not their fault. It's because of the market right now and everybody's buying up homes. So we ended up with our second choice for our home, which was all right.
During the consultation process, the reps just sat us down and we filled out the credit app. Then, they would communicate with us the entire time after that process was done. So, it wasn't a bad experience. It's just that for first time homebuyers, we would have appreciated somebody in the homes with us looking and explaining everything and what's the difference between this and that model type of deal. We wanted to go with a farmhouse trim but we didn't wanna wait six months for the factory to ship another one out. So, we went with the splash model, a base model home, which is not terrible.
We've had to have repairs and maintenance done on since we've had the home. I was gonna make another list of stuff that before our one-year warranty expires with Clayton to have them come out and fix some things. Because out of the entire house, our master shower and bath don't get hot water. It's all lukewarm. I haven’t adjusted the hot water tank because Clayton told me that they won't do that because it voids the warranty. There are a couple other issues that are not necessarily broken, but just need to be addressed and fixed.

I enjoyed the home buying process with Clayton. They made it simple and they kept asking me what I wanted and needed in my house. I said I needed hardwood floors and I would rather not have carpet but if there is carpet, that can be fixed later on. They said that if I wanted to take the carpet out, they can do it and put laminate in. I said we would buy a house first and then we could always do that later. They said they could do that right then. The only thing that they didn't fulfill was the no carpet. But I talked to them about it and they told me to let them know if I want to and they’ll help me figure it out when I get to that point.
The application process didn't take that long. It took longer to choose the house. But my stepdad's ex-wife helped me and explained everything to me. We had a home consultant and it was great. I told her I wanted more of a farm style house, so she showed me a couple of farm style houses, and I enjoyed that because I got to see what I didn't like and what I like in a house and the different layouts. My fiancé loves her little tub that we got instead of her closet. Clayton helped me explore different things. There was something that at first, I didn't want in my house. And they said that if there's this in the house, I can do this and this. And that opened my mind to different things.

The home buying process with Clayton was smooth and it was a great experience working with the rep. But there’s a lot of the trim in the house and it’s cheap. We have little kids that will run against the walls and they'll touch it, and it just pops off the wall. Also, the doors leak air. We had somebody take a look at it and they made it worse. There's a couple of spots where water was getting in when it was raining and when we had a cold spell, it froze and there's a spot underneath one of the windows that there's frost on the inside of the house, which is weird.
We have linoleum flooring and there's a lot of spots where the nails or screws didn't go all the way through into the plywood. So, there are some sharp spots where we step on those. Some of the plumbing fixtures, like the main one with the kitchen sink, have silicone glue gaskets that whenever the water heats it up, it gets on our dishes and messed up some of it. Then the actual sink screws into the plumbing. That was loose, so there was a leak underneath the sink for a while but we fixed that. There's one faucet in the master bathroom that wasn't having hot water to it but Clayton fixed that. That one's good. I was under the impression that I was gonna get a hose bib, like an outdoor spigot, but I didn't. But that's okay. I just misunderstood that part. I talked to the actual manager of the Oklahoma City Clayton Homes and he was nice as well as all those people. It's just the house itself is a little bit underwhelming.

My dad had bought a house from Clayton, so he suggested them and when I first went, I really enjoyed Andy. He made me feel comfortable, he explained everything that needed to be explained, and he let me know whatever I needed to do. I was impressed with how on point he was at everything. He always called me to give me updates. He was really good. The buying process took a little while because there was a good bit of stuff to go through, but I don't think it was bad at all. I enjoyed it. I just wanted to ask as many questions as I could and everybody answered everything that they could answer. I love the home. It's a good open floor plan. The kitchen, dining room and living room are all connected. We have four bedrooms and two bathrooms. We have a sliding door and a laundry room. The quality is really good. I like it. Clayton was able to help me get into my own home, so it made me a little happier in my life.

They hire 'cheapest' inexperienced people to install these homes, the plumbing was not hooked up correctly which caused the house to leak/flood. The walls (BRAND NEW HOME, 2021) were damaged. They promised to fix everything and replace the panels/walls and never did. I had to pay over $1,000 out of pocket to fix all their faulty plumbing. I still have to replace the walls before they grow mold in them. DO NOT BUY FROM THIS PLACE, THERE ARE PLENTY OTHER MODULAR HOME PLACES THAT HAVE QUALITY WORK.
Ms. Ginger, Thank you for reaching out. We are sorry to hear of the issues regarding your home and we do understand the frustration, however, we had previously inquired with the Chillicothe location when you reached out in September, and it was determined that there would be no further service provided on the home. Your home passed all inspections and any service work was completed within your one year standard warranty in addition to sending someone to the home outside of the warranty as a courtesy. Upon further review it was discovered that the pressure regulator had frozen and busted during a -1 degree snowstorm that occurred in the area. It was then advised that you would need to replace the valve. The contractor that visited your home advised it may be of good measure for you to contact the water company regarding the pressure coming in. It was explained to the occupant of the home, your son, that if the pressure of the water coming in is not taken care of, this could create issues with the pipes. We are sorry as we understand that this is not the desired response, however, the issues you are having are homeowners' responsibility and we would need to encourage you to reach out to your regular homeowners insurance company moving forward.

Brittany with Clayton Homes was very attentive. She followed up well and knew what she was talking about. She was very helpful. She was very clear that this was a no-warranty sale. But I would not ever consider purchasing another Clayton home. I have never seen a more shoddy craftsmanship in my life. There's a bunch of staples that were not properly pounded down so that they're punching up through the floor. The cutting of the floor around the heating ducts was off by a mile, so they had to patch it in and didn't do a good job patching it. The door moldings don't have anywhere near enough nails. They're loose. There are many moldings that were cut. The guy cutting must have been blind because they're half an inch short. Not one single door in the home closes properly. There wasn't enough caulking at the kitchen sink. Some of the clips that hold that sink in were not present. I put some in myself to make sure that it stays in properly.

Clayton Homes did a good job. They were friendly and helpful. The process took longer than it should have but it wasn't Clayton's fault. It's where I live at. The electric company dragged their feet and took forever. I had to keep calling. Clayton did everything they could up until that point and couldn't go any further until the electric company came out and set the pole and the meter. They called me almost every other day to check if I heard anything. They called Chickasaw Electric too trying to get them to hurry up. The three people that I dealt with and sold me the home were down-to-earth country folks. Jerry, the guy that they have come out and check on the house and fix things, is good too. Looking back though, I wish I had gotten the same size trailer length-wise. I picked the cheapest one they had.

We initially went somewhere else and they were a bunch of jerks. Then we went to Clayton Homes and it was a much friendlier atmosphere. They were much more approachable and open to what we needed. However, there were very high highs and low lows. There were times I thought they had been telling me everything and everything was going smoothly. Then I would ask for updates but wouldn't hear anything back. When I ask, "What are you working on," they would just answer, "We're working on it."
When signing the papers, I wish the representatives would have been more open about what exactly I was signing up for and the difference between each loan company. We signed up for Alliance not knowing that our payments were going to start up immediately as soon as the house was delivered even if we weren't living in it. We were not informed of that until our house was already dropped off. We later learned that if we went with Vanderbilt, we wouldn't have paid a month out after living in it.
When they were moving the house, they turned it and dropped it into the ditch. There were a couple of scrape spots and pieces missing. We brought them up to Randy, our sales associate, and we had gotten a little heated with him because he was telling us that we needed to pay. But they hadn't told us about the whole Alliance thing and Alliance was telling us we needed to pay right when we got back. I told them, "First, can you get my house out of the ditch?" They said they didn't know what I was talking about. After the incident, they got everything up on the house and everything after that has been wonderful. Everything got put in the hands of Deborah who was wonderful. She was the playmaker. She made this whole thing worthwhile. She was on the ball.
I love our home. It's fantastic. The entertainment center is beautiful. The laminate was very nice. However, in the guest shower, the quality of the bathtub is a little cheap. It's not even near quality with the main bathroom. It doesn't feel very sturdy. But the sink for that bathroom is fantastic. The whole setup is great. The other thing is the wallpaper that's used. It's a flimsy material. If something scrapes it, it flies right off. It's like there's notebook paper in the inside.

Colin helped us out from the get-go. He showed us a couple of different options that fit what we were looking for in the price range and set my mind on the one I got. We decided at that point that we'd go ahead and move forward with it. He did everything he said he was gonna do and helped us out. My situation was a little more complicated because we had to get the old one sold and moved out and put the new one in its place. We chose to go ahead and get a new septic system put in and a bunch of tree work done in the process. Whenever Colin and I talked about it, he knew a couple of people that might be interested in purchasing the home that I was in. I got their phone numbers, contacted them, and found a buyer. Whenever I talked to the buyer, I told him what my situation was and how I had to have this one out on a certain date. Once Colin and I reached a date, we rescheduled one day from the original date that was set due to weather.
From that point, everything fell into place exactly the way we had it planned. All together, it took a month to get the paperwork done. They did all the repairs necessary once the home was moved in. Even till this day, I've been there for more than six months and I can call Colin or someone there and they're more than happy to help me if I have an issue. The experience I had was not at all what I've heard from other people that used Clayton which almost deterred me from using them. It was completely opposite.

It has three bedrooms, two full baths, a nice foyer entrance, a full kitchen, a full utility room for a washer and dryer, and a beautiful living room. Two spare bedrooms are on the other end of the house and a bath. The master bedroom and bath are separated on the other end of the house. I've had a little couple wrinkles here lately, but hopefully, I will get that figured out and I’ll be able to move forward very shortly. My home needs to be cleaned. It was clean when they delivered it, but the walls where the guys put the nail heads in and put putty on them, there are smudge marks everywhere. I want that cleaned up. I liked Clayton's reputation and with the research I had done on my own, they seemed to be a better-built home. The layout of the home I chose worked for my lifestyle. The associate that I had was pretty new. She had to check a lot of questions, but working with Clayton went pretty smoothly. I was concerned because my lot was not the most accessible. In fact, one of the guys had come out about December before they delivered in April and he said, “Well, if you cut these trees right here, I think we'll be able to get in and do this and that.” But then when it came time to deliver it, there was another road that comes up close to where I am. There's a field between us and they decided that it might be better to come across that field.
There are a couple of things they had to come and do. I've been in manufacturing my whole life, and I know that things happen in the process. I understand by building something that's gonna travel down the road, it goes through a lot before it gets to your property and gets set up. There are some things that don't quite seem square. Nothing I can't live with but part of me says, “Well, if you're building these things inside in a factory and you're doing the same models over and over, they should be pretty close to perfect.” They did drive from Tennessee to South Carolina and across a field.
The pricing structure is very confusing when you see a home and it's got one price, then everything starts adding up. I get it. There are a lot of variables in that, but I think it would be a lot more transparent instead of saying, “Hey, this would cost you $80,000,” and then when it gets delivered, it’s 120,000. People need a little bit more realistic idea of what they're getting into.

We ordered the home in May of '21. It was delivered in May of '22. I understood because of all the issues with COVID and supplies and we were told that it would be eight months to a year. So, that was not unexpected. The only thing that was unexpected was that, from the time that it was seated and brought to the site in May, we did not begin until the middle of September. That was because there were issues with a project manager out of the Clayton office in Rogersville. Our salesperson, Chris, was great. He did everything that he could for us and I would rate him highly. The person who was creating the issues was let go. However, they got so behind that it created an issue getting in. She understood what was going and was very helpful. We got a four-bedroom configuration, double-wide, right at 2,000 square feet. It's farmhouse oriented and open. There was a little faux pas on the installation where they ripped the tile, but they went with a solution that I preferred on the linoleum. That solution ended up to work out almost better than what we had. The only thing that I would have liked better about it was if it had had sliding glass doors headed out of the den into where we were gonna add on deck. But in general, I'm very satisfied with the end product so far.

We were shopping for a new home and visiting every dealership in the area. I looked from East Texas all the way to Lafayette, Louisiana. We stopped in at Clayton a couple of times and they were always so friendly and so helpful in trying to help us find a home. Finally, they had one on their lot that needed to find its permanent place, and we liked the layout. It was not quite what we wanted, but it was good. We looked at some small, two-bedroom homes and the prices on them were as much as what this one was. It was the previous year's model, and the newer ones were coming in and they needed to get it off the lot. They put it on sale, and we ended up paying a good price for it. We got a great home for a place and more house than what we had originally been looking for. It went well.

If that kind of customer service shows up the second that you walk in the door, we would imagine that it would continue the rest of the way through so we decided to go with Ed and Clayton.
The nice thing was that, despite any of the challenges that we came upon between Ed and Don, they were both focused on trying to fix whatever little random things were going wrong, or, in the end, trying to make sure that we were 100% satisfied. If I would have known that I wasn't moving in so quickly, if I would have had more time, it would have been great to pick more of the features. But as far as what was there already, the home that came in was designed nicely. I love the layout. He told me to come take a look at what they had. I went up there and met with him. He was busy running around working on another couple, but he was able to give me the keys so I could go look at the houses that were my range. We were able to look at the house that was available for us, and when I went back to ask some questions about it, he was able to give me answers and numbers right away. I looked at three houses that was in my budget. The one that we chose was the cheaper of the three, but it had more room. That house had bigger closets than the other two models. Having bigger closets was was more beneficial than having a bigger living room.
After buying the house, anytime I've had questions or comments or concerns, I've been able to give him a call, and he's been able to get it fixed and go above and beyond to get everything organized to get us moved in and make our buying experience pretty good. The house I lived in before was a four-bedroom house built from the 80s. It's a $200,000 house. Coming from that house to where I am now is a bit of a downgrade. The house is simple. It's the exact need for my family. We had I have a couple issues here and there. I had a line that broke underneath my sink. I was able to shut the water off right away and called Colin. He was able to come out to send a plumber out the next day and get it fixed for me. There are a lot of things you can do to upgrade a house, but for the price of the house itself that we paid, we're satisfied with it.

I've known about Clayton for a long time, but I've never owned one. This is our first Clayton home, and at first, I wasn't happy. It's a lot of piddly stuff. We go to pull a jar out, then the whole thing breaks off ‘cause they used such cheap material on it. The little brackets they used to hold the tracks in, they're cheap as can be. We got to go out and buy the better one to fix it, and we shouldn’t have to. The craftsmanship is not the best. If Clayton Homes is gonna charge the price that they're charging, they need to use good stuff. Home Depot sells the same brackets, but they're heavier duty.
The communication has been no problem though. Every time we've had a problem, I've always went through the person who sold it to us, but she's done with us. Now, we're dealing with the people who do the maintenance. I'm still waiting on stuff to be fixed, but that's not the dealer’s fault. It's the company’s fault. However, I understand everything's backordered because of the shipping problems, and they're waiting on stuff. My refrigerator door needs to be replaced and the lock for the back door is not working. They called us the other day to fix the refrigerator door, but they sent the wrong door. The furnace didn’t work as well. Whoever installed the thermostat didn't know what they were doing and didn’t tighten the wires down. Clayton Homes had a repairman out there today and he got our heat working, finally.

The guy said, “Okay, I'll hold it this week for you till you get your money.” I hadn't been gone that trailer park an hour, and he sold it right out from under me. I was a little upset, but I went on to another lot. They were right off of I-45, and I bought our mobile home from them. Clayton Homes special ordered this one, which is the one I wanted originally, and I got it.
We had a problem, but it was not enormous and it had nothing to do with Clayton Homes. We were having trouble with the trailer park that we were going to put it in. It was supposedly shut down. Clayton could have been ugly if they really wanted to be because here they were, holding a trailer and had no place to put it, but they've been nice to me. They would tell me, "Don't worry, it’s okay. We're going to get through this." I was going back and forth between the manager and AB, the one who sold me the trailer. I talked with the manager a few times, but not often. I was worried about my trailer sitting there and I was afraid the trailer salespeople were gonna charge me rent to hold my trailer, but they did not. They told me, “Don't worry about all that. If we go after anybody, it'll be the trailer park.”
We immediately got out and started hunting with another place to put our trailer. We found this place and we really like it here. It's a nice park. If I had known I was coming to this park, though, I would have gotten a longer model. Still, we have a nice two-bedroom trailer. It's 16 wide and 68 long, and we've been in here since July. Naturally, a new home, you’re gonna have small things, and Clayton Homes has been good about coming back and taking care of them. All I do is call them.

I have almost four acres, and I put a modular home, an inground pool, and a four-car garage on here. I purchased the modular home from Clayton Homes four years ago, and because I've had such a good service there, I purchased a mobile home for my disabled son as well. He needed to have more attention than running to his apartment, because he was on his own.
I like the quality. I love my modular home, but with my son's home, the cabinetry could have been a little better done. There are gaps between where they put two pieces together. It's not a crisis though. It’s more or less underneath, and people can't see it. However, we’re rural, and my son's been having trouble with mice. We realized that they were coming in where the dryer vent was at, because he doesn't have a washer dryer over there. The mice were climbing up the brick underpinning and getting in the house. We had a problem with one when we first moved here too. It was before they put the two pieces of the modular home together that it got in here. It got in a middle drawer and chewed the tin foil, which was how we knew for sure we had a mouse. It was like pulling teeth to find it, but we finally caught it underneath the sink.
I like everything about Clayton Homes, and I wouldn't go anyplace else. The customer service was fantastic. If I’ve had issues, I've called and they’ve taken care of them with no problem. Richard, the head honcho in that particular thing, has been the one that I dealt with the most, and he's always been very fair. Anything that I've asked them to do when it was under warranty, they did it. After the year, I had insurance on it, and they took care of it too when I had other stuff. There is not anything I can say bad about either the mobile home or my modular home.
I've also had people stop and ask me where I bought my son's mobile home after they started putting it on the land. “Oh, where did you get that? We've been other places and we haven't been able to get a good deal.” I said, "Well, it's not even that you get a good deal. You just have to know what you're going in there for and about a price range." My son's mobile home is only a two-bedroom. It's a 16x60, and it was $110,000. I added a brick facade to it, and I had them build me a couple porches in as well. Right now, I'm fixing to spend 30,000, get a screen room, and put on the end where the patio doors are.

My wife and I purchased a home with Clayton Homes in Valley Station, KY. All the way to closing it was a fairly easy and painless process. After closing, it feels drug out and bad communication. We’ve been waiting for over a month to get into our home. We’re waiting on the electric and it feels like they’re taking their sweet time with it. Now I understand that the electric company plays a part in this as well, but that’s where the communication part comes in. Clayton doesn’t call us with updates. We weren’t even notified when the trailer was put in the lot. The overall experience hasn’t been a good one. Someone from corporate should call down there and light a fire under their butts and get them moving.

I moved here from another town after my husband passed away. My niece, who lives next door, had bought a big double wide. She brought me over to Clayton and I picked out a trailer. Everything was good, except I'm having a problem now. I called about three months ago because my back door is leaking. When it rains, it leaks from the top of the glass to the glass panes. And it leaks to the bottom of the door. I called Clayton and their rep told me that she was going to get somebody to come. Now, both of my toilets are also starting to run all the time. They stop for a little while then they start up again.
Those aside, everything was smooth sailing and I'm enjoying my home very much. Clayton kept me up to date on everything. I had to get all the land ready with my treatment plant and electricity. They came and they moved it as soon as everything was done. We started setting up and that was back in April. On the whole, I was satisfied with purchasing my home and I would refer Clayton to others.

I totally regret buying my 2022 Clayton Tru Pride from beginning to this point. From dealing with the mobile home dealership to calling Clayton complaints. Donnie, from Tru Pride complaints sent the most arrogant insulting gentleman to my home that told me the holes in every wall wouldn’t be addressed because I bought a “ cheap starter home. I could buy a $85,000 home such as mine (which cost more) or a $650,000 house like his. He did say there were other issues that should have been addressed during set up. I thanked him then he contacted the mobile home dealership that failed to complete the repairs on numerous occasions the reason I finally contacted Clayton because they pay for these subcontractors.
Needless to say I have holes from where the home wasn’t put together, holes and obvious nails from the factory in wall that I was told to deal with, missing trimming, cabinets falling apart, glue on the floors, seven brown shutters, one black shutter, master bathroom unusable. Broken floor and electrical vents, closets looks like a two year old put them together. By the way I never heard back from Donnie at Clayton. I wish I had bought a traditional house, or a Oakwood. Don’t buy a Clayton by any means.
Hello Tawanda, thank you for reaching out. We're sorry to hear of your concerns, as Clayton Homes strives to provide a world-class experience to each and every customer. Our builders completed a walk-through of the home with you, and have completed numerous service work orders for trim items in the home. A shutter did come off, which we replace temporarily with what we had, while we ordered the correct one. The holes in the walls is where the brads are used to put up sheetrock, and the factory does not putty those. The water pressure is due to the well releasing sand into your system, and we cannot control water quality. But it's not that big a deal. Also, I wanted one of the bedrooms to be a dining room so I asked them if they could take the door off. They put a trim that doesn't have the door lock on it so that it doesn't even look like the door goes there. It's just part of the house. Every time I've called with something, they have come out. But the service rep that I dealt with was super nice and she tried to request the manufacturer to come out and replace the whole floor before it's happening throughout the home.
I told them I was not all right with having these little patches throughout the house. The manufacturer had the service guys come out and take pictures. One guy agreed that it was gonna be a bunch of patching and they sent all that in to the manufacturer but it got denied fast. The service guy came back out and had this wax-type putty crap and just knocked the nails back down and smeared that stuff over it. I'm not happy with that at all. In short, you have to be crazy to do business with this lot and Clayton Homes!!! In long, I ordered a modular on 7/2021. It's now 10/2022 and my home isn't complete and no completion date will be given to me. The lot manager, "Jamie **" will not return my phone calls or emails. The guy under him, "Scott **" doesn't return calls nor texts either. Mr ** has been manipulating the subcontractor assigned to my build, sending him elsewhere more and more each week. When we inquire to where the subcontractor is, we're told we can't get in touch with him. Well, it turns out that Mr ** is sending the subcontractor to other job sites and lying to us about it. The ETHICS of this man is amazing. The subcontractor, if I'm lucky spends two partial days each week working on my house.
The salesman, "Bryan **" has turned out to be quite the liar. Beware, he uses a handwritten worksheet to show the cost of items needed to complete a home, septic, water and power lines, delivery, setup, heat pump, etc. and uses the totals of this worksheet along with any add-on options to determine the total cost of the house. Now he's saying that isn't true and they will not put in the $1000 worth of insulation I paid for. I have a copy of the worksheet in his handwriting showing the charge to me. I can't believe Clayton homes operates in this manner and I'm currently working my way up the chain of management to get help. Since Mr **, "lot manager" will not communicate with me I can't get his manager's information. Clayton Homes contract you sign gives them total control and you the buyer no control. They do what they want, when they want even if that's nothing at all and that's my situation.
P.S. Have you heard the term, "Putting lipstick on a pig"? If so the home itself looks like children built it. Problems everywhere and that's what I can see. Horrible trim work, both baseboard and crown molding. Flooring that needs replaced due to the bad spots all over the house, Kitchen cabinets that nearly all doors and drawers needed to be replaced. Vinyl siding falling off due to no staples, "staples, not nails" where they should be. Exterior doors damaged to the point they need replaced. Interior doors that don't close and latch properly. Windows damaged bad enough that they need replaced. The list goes on and on. All this is what I can see. What about what's behind the drywall or under the floor? Who knows and I'm very concerned, but what can I do now? I've already made the mistake of buying this pig and I'm stuck with it. What's worse? I can't get the pig finished due to Clayton homes manipulating the subcontractor.

We were told that people would come out and do a walkthrough in the house before we could actually go in, even though the trailer had been delivered to the house before we could go in. They also had somebody that would clean it up and make sure that everything was smooth from the move. The movers were great as well. I ordered from Panama City, and the guy I dealt with was a good salesman. He answered all my questions. However, it took a while for the house to get built. Clayton Homes puts them together in Tennessee, and they ship them up to Panama City then do the finishing touches. When I ordered in December, I was told that it would be done in the first week of February. It was done around February 9th. They came in one day and sat it down after they had done the clay. The work then crew came, and the house was set up within a couple of hours. I watched six out of the seven workers work like dogs. The seventh guy was messing around with his truck like there was something wrong with it. Other than the seventh guy, I didn't see anybody goofing off in any step of the way.
I had a very good experience with Clayton Homes, but I wouldn't have bought from them if it hadn't been for my brother-in-law. He is from South Carolina, and he recommended this company, said they were professional and very good. When I called Clayton Homes, I was not disappointed at all. They came back and put a little tar over the tacks. It hadn’t been fixed. I’ve called them two or three times. You don’t fix a roof by putting tar over the tacks that's showing. You put shingles over it. They didn’t do that. When they brought the home out there, the refrigerator had fallen over and broke the handles off it. They came back out there after I called them about five or six times and fixed that. But now, they're not doing a whole lot to the trailer. I was expecting more because I thought Clayton makes a good home. If I hadn't paid cash for it, I'm gonna let them have it back.

I got a lot model so I had a lot of added in stuff with it. It was a good price. However, I had some issues like having some wrong parts in the house initially. It was an issue where the house had been built slightly different compared to the blueprints. They had a different part on their blueprint. It took a couple of tries for them to get those fixed.
Jacob, thank you for reaching out and sharing this feedback with us. We will use it to help improve our processes.

They explained everything I needed to know and they had an answer for every question I asked. I like the quality of the home. There are a few things like I can see a staple here and there but other than that, it’s fine. If someone is looking to purchase with Clayton, I'd tell them to go with the guy that I got the house from.

The home-buying process was very easy. Chandler and Taylor, the office manager, helped us, and I was impressed by their professionalism and the knowledge they had of the product.
We're so glad you had a wonderful experience with us, James!

Working with the reps went fine. It was quick and simple, and they were all helpful. They still reach out as well. There was a little lack of communication at one point in time, but they corrected it. Also, the home is nice, but I'm finding a couple of things that are not as well as I thought they were, like they were just thrown together. I had to get my walls replaced within the first month because when Clayton Homes delivered the icebox, it wasn't connected. They said that it was. The icemaker port had broke off and water leaked out. I never knew water was leaking out the whole time, and I had mold all over one side of the trailer.
As far as the mold goes, Clayton Homes corrected everything. I'm starting to see that it's approaching up under the microwave area now. Another thing is, walking into the room, the wooden frame part of the door might have a nail here or there, but then it's a huge gap so it's hanging a bit. So far, we've been correcting everything that we could.

The communication was great. My saleslady, Tammy, was perfect. She communicated with me every step of the way and she was patient with me. We looked at every home on the lot and even came back multiple times. While I was filing my taxes, because I own a business, she was very patient on that to get financing done. She helped me through the buying process.
The little en suite nook area in the master bedroom of the model we chose was perfect because we were expecting a baby when we started shopping. We set up his bassinet in that area. The master bathroom is huge too. The only issue I've had with the home is the smoke detectors. There's one smoke detector in my living room kitchen area that when it gets plugged in, it makes all the other ones go off. Clayton Homes is still troubleshooting that, and we've gotta take it in for them to come check that out. We just have to be home for them to come.
Corey, thank you for taking the time to share your feedback with us. We are happy that any concerns are being addressed with your retailer.
