The process of buying a home with Clayton was fairly decent and the home consultant was very good. Clayton was in communication with me through the process for the most part and they thoroughly explained all aspects. But their service is a little slow especially when I had little things come up and there were not enough people who do services quickly. Also, the waiting time was supposed to be within a couple of weeks but now it looks like it's going to be over a month. Other than that, my overall experience with Clayton was fairly good.

We wanted to be homeowners and I had land that I wanted to establish a home on. I’ve always driven by Clayton Homes and I've seen the nice homes they have out there. The few times that I stopped and went to look into the homes, the people there were very nice and helpful. The home is great overall. It’s got some cosmetic issues but once we called Clayton Homes, they resolved it quickly. We had a positive experience and I would recommend it to anyone who is looking to buy a home.

Purchasing our home went very smoothly. Our consultant was Bobby and he was absolutely fantastic. He was very thorough and extremely knowledgeable about the aspects of the home. We picked the home we wanted and they made some adjustments for us where this home is concerned. We only wanted the two bedrooms and to our specifications, it's what they've done. I love my living room and kitchen area because they’re so open. The only thing I don’t like about it is there’s not enough cabinet space. But it would be my fault because I fell in love with the home and the way they were going to design it and I didn’t specifically tell them that I needed more cabinets.

I was hoping to get the brick underpinning, but they wouldn’t get us that big of a loan for that. So, unfortunately, I’m stuck with vinyl underpinning. We recently had some more molding that has come loose in the house and I called to let them know about that. But they told me that it was a cosmetic thing and they only guarantee that for 30 days. Nevertheless, I love the whole thing. Clayton Homes was great to deal with. They were all very kind, thoughtful and considerate.

Absolute worst experience ever in purchasing a home. We went to Clayton Homes of Corinth MS and had salesman Blain **. We told him we were looking for something quick because we were in transition and living in a camper. We first talked to him the second week in January. We owned our own land and he said getting something from the lot would be the fastest. So we picked out the smallest double-wide they had on the lot. I knew getting approved would not be a problem, because we had excellent credit scores. Blain kept pushing Vanderbilt but Cascade had the best interest rates, so this was our first delay. Needless to say, I found out later why he was pushing Vanderbilt... They OWN Clayton Homes.

I paid a deposit on the double-wide in January to make sure it was not sold. We agreed on pricing and what all had to be done and was included. We finally signed the paperwork the middle of March. During the closing, the numbers did not match and discovered we had to pay for lots of extra stuff out of our pocket. Blain said... "I had to make the numbers match..." We were discovering that Blain was a "Used Car Salesman"... He lies, manipulates, and bullies. After weeks, they finally came and fixed the pad for our home (after my husband did most of it trying to move things along). Keep in mind our home is sitting on the LOT... It did not have to be ordered and nothing had to be done to it.

It was not until the last week of April that it was delivered to our land. Then it was the end of May for the brick layers came to finished the foundation. All of this came after numerous phone calls and hearing lots of excuses. Finally, we thought we could start moving in... We had no hot water, all the doors would not shut, the ac unit was not leveled, cracks in the ceiling, toilet seats were broken, floors made noises, outside doors would not shut, cabinet doors were falling off, window siding was busted, carpet stained, no dryer vent, and on and on and on. CHEAP, products.

Blain kept promising all this would be fixed. Blain kept trying to get us to go ahead and sign paperwork and assured us that our home was under a year warranty. But we knew with all the promises and lies that if we signed, NOTHING would ever get fixed. I even tried to contact the corporate office... They never returned my emails or phone calls. We then waited over 4 weeks for a water sample to be pulled. Then he kept saying we had to sign final paperwork because our home was on our land. I told him NO because I was not satisfied with our home. I had to get Cascade involved and they are a buddy system. Blain would tell her what she wanted to hear and say that we were not doing what we were supposed to do.

We finally asked for legal advice. We were ready for them to come and get their cheap trailer and find something else. After mentioning a lawyer, they finally showed up to fix everything on my list. We signed after that the beginning of August. Yes, this quick process took 8 months. We endured excuses after excuses... Lies after lies. We could have built a custom home on our land in less time than it took to move a trailer from their lot to our land. This was the worst mistake we have ever made. We DO NOT recommend Clayton Homes.

They were really professional and did a good job with me. I was really happy and I'm pretty satisfied with my house. I sent about four people over at Clayton to talk to them about getting other mobile homes. Overall, Clayton Homes was really pleasant to work with.

The guy on the second place tried to get us what we wanted and it was a great experience. The home buying process with Clayton was great. Their rep, Bobby, did a fine job. He has great knowledge about the homes and answered any questions we had. I bought one that fit everything I needed. The wife’s happy now that I got my own place. The only problem we’ve had with anything is the air conditioning unit was leaking badly on the inside, but they took care of that nicely.

Clayton Homes’s quality was good. There were a couple of issues that I had but our home consultant went above and beyond and fixed everything I had an issue with. I like the floor plan. It’s very open. I picked up one of the homes where it’s as it is, but they don’t change anything. I would’ve added a sliding glass door where I had two windows in the dining room. Overall, I was very satisfied with my home buying process with Clayton Homes. They were lifesavers. I have also recommended the home consultant that we’ve dealt with to four or five different people.

She really does her job there and helps every way she can. It was a pleasure having to deal with Lydia.

I'm a middle-aged single lady and Clayton Homes handled everything. The approval went through and the home consultant was great. We bought the one that was already on the floor. I've been in the house for nine months now and it's been good. It was easy, efficient and they made it possible for me to buy a home that was affordable and completely satisfactory. I put it on my own property and had the spot graded. It was a piece of a hillside and they graded it down and leveled it up for the mobile home. That seems to be fine so far and my energy bill is very good. It's a lot lower than the home I was renting which was a fairly new house.

Also, the appliances have been slightly upgraded but they're really good. We had one issue with a leaky spot on the roof and as soon as we called it in, they came and fixed it the next morning. I feel like I got a really good home for the value. The guys at Clayton did a really good job and I've recommended them to a couple people. It was a very good experience and I was completely satisfied.

We went with Clayton Homes because we couldn't afford to rebuild and we really liked the way they constructed the homes after we looked at them. Our consultant was a great guy and he went out of his way to help us. The buying process was excellent, we're pleased with the product and happy to have it. It took us a while to decide when to move into our new home but once we did, it was not long because the house was built up in Waco, which was not far from us. It was a real enjoyable experience and we appreciated Clayton's help.

I ordered a trailer from the factory 'cause I wanted a certain color. I like the appliances, but I wish they were a different color. I can't stand black furniture or appliances, but that's the only choice we had. We've lived here a little after thanksgiving of last year. The Clayton home consultant was really good and helped us a lot. He even called us for a couple of months after we bought the trailer to make sure everything's doing well. He recommended us to get the energy-efficient one and I'm glad we did. I was keeping an air conditioner at 66 degrees to stay cool in the house we were renting, but here, I have to turn this thing up to about 71, 72 degrees sometimes 'cause I'm too cold. All in all, everything they said was going to happen happened and if anything needed to be fixed, they fixed it. Clayton Homes is a wonderful place to go and I enjoyed the experience.

Bill was the home consultant from Clayton Homes that helped us. He was very great from the very beginning. We went there one time to look around then we went to another mobile home dealer in the city but we decided to go back to Bill to ask some of our questions and he was so helpful and knowledgeable. He would answer everything that I had a question about. If he doesn’t know, he would get the answer to it. Then I also had some issues with the little things underneath the sink because they were busted so it was making the sewer smell go throughout our house.

As soon as we called him, he had someone call me almost immediately trying to come out to fix and look at it. Then they came out, fixed it and I never had any problem since. Even after that, he had given us his phone number and he was always available. I work full time and I have three kids so I don’t have time to always make phone calls but he would text me back about questions that I had. It was more than I could ever have asked for, ever. I really appreciate everything they did. There was another guy that worked there and he wasn’t very nice. But Bill was super great, and it was a hundred percent home buying process satisfaction.

I have been contacting you with issues since we moved into our home. When we done the "final walk through" as the installers called it. We had a notebook full of issues. I have gotten the run around from everyone I have been in contact with. First it was, "We will send someone out." Now they all want me to contact someone different or fax this email that. Last time you pulled that warranty has expired business. I'm sorry but don't try to pull that crap, when you were contacted within 6 days of setup. It's complete garbage how you treat your customers. We paid straight cash for our home in 2013.

Sad part is 3 other people warned us you would never show up to fix anything because they had been waiting for 10 years. I've got busted doors, messed up cabinets and counters, broke crown molding, floor issues, roof issues and tub issues to name a few. Also have busted vinyl siding, broke screen doors and frame all done the day you setup. Yet you can't send one person to do something. Class action lawsuit is sounding better and better. Looks like you've got plenty here to get it off the ground.

We bought a lot model from Clayton Homes. We took it exactly the way it was and like it so much. My wife made me buy all the furniture that it was staged with. The home buying process itself was pretty good. The salesperson was great as well. She just called the other day and gave free tickets for a wine tasting and a concert in Napa. Her knowledge and how friendly she was stood out about her. And even after we bought our house, she called once a week for about two months just checking in on everything. When we had a problem with the bathroom, she got a hold of the manufacturer and got it covered for us.

We also got all the appliances and those were very efficient. The refrigerator is a little loud though and makes a bit of noise but everything else works really good. We're actually getting ready to buy another one. The place we have is 40 acres of two 20 acre partials, so we're just going to put it in our next door. We're waiting for them to get the new triple white model in and then we're going to check it out. It was great. They made it easy and it was a good experience.

Me, “Yes, looking for an acre or more and 30,000 is my limit.” So we do the paperwork. It says home 66,8. 8000. Discount, total on home 58,5 then land 30,000. Cool right. No we leave after the 500. downpayment. Week later I go check, I am told, “Oh you look for your own land, pay an earnest fee then we take over from there.”

Okay 1 lie. We find land a week later an acre 25,000. We go in. Salesman "Oh no that is 15,000 more than it should be.” Me who we said and paperwork says 30,000 for land. Lie #2 “No no that is a total 10,00 for land 15,000 for well, septic (did you see that?). So that is not what we talked about.” Salesman, "Yeah that is land and improvements but I can send it back for a second look? If it wasn't one thing it was another starting from the hot water heater wasn't hooked up right so it flooded my back room and they refuse to replace the floor in which it flooded and would only replace 1 wall. Then my inside and outside roof sinks in throughout the whole mobile home. They said it was normal and they were not going to fix it. Now my air conditioner has been leaking for about a month now and no one will return my calls to come and fix it. I went by the place where I bought my home and no one was around. If these things are not fixed I am going to contact an attorney and file a class action lawsuit against Clayton Mobile Homes based on all these other complaints on this site also.

We were very satisfied with the home buying process through Clayton Homes. Their rep, Matt, explained the whole process and worked with us. He was incredibly helpful and stayed with us through everything. So, we were very happy. Our Clayton home is exactly where it is supposed to be. Our energy bill has been low since we've been there. The highest one we've had was this month but the heat has been outrageous. Also, the appliances that came through Clayton are definitely better than what we had in our old house. Overall, it was a good experience. We accomplished everything that needed to be accomplished. And we recommended Clayton Homes to three other buyers who have bought a home through them.

I love Clayton Homes. The home consultant was awesome, she was a 100% knowledgeable and she told us everything we needed to know. I would refer her to anybody. I like that they walked around and showed us things. They gave us options with different prices. I thought I was only going to be able to get something smaller like a three bedroom single wide. They helped me get something bigger, a four bedroom double-wide, and I also have insulation in my house. I was living in a run down 1982 trailer and this is the finest I've ever lived. Between them and God, I'm living in a mansion. My experience was friendly, very nice, and it was like dealing with family.

We’re very satisfied with Clayton Homes and the process was very smooth. They stayed in contact with us through the whole thing and answered any questions we had. Malcolm was our sales guy and he was very helpful. We've been pretty happy with the overall quality of our home. There’s been some small things but nothing major. The dishwasher started making a funny noise the last couple of times we ran it, and I brought that to their attention just this weekend. Other than that, we're happy with everything. I had my reasonable doubt that the electric bill would be as good as they were saying but so far, our last utility bill was $160 which was pretty good, considering how large the house is and how hot it's been. Clayton Homes was very easy to deal with and the experience was a lot more pleasant than what I expected.

We had been looking for a house and we found three homes that we absolutely loved with the salesperson in the mortgage company that we were working with. It turned out that those were manufactured homes so the mortgage company wouldn't finance it. After the third one that we found like that, we decided to get a manufactured home. We headed out to Clayton Homes and took a look at what they have. The process of buying our home was great once we finally found Tammy out there. She seemed to understand what we were looking for. My brother and I went in together to buy it. He’s disabled and even though he doesn't file taxes, he'll need to have this from social security and Tammy helped us get through all of that stuff. We love her.

We reached out when we thought about looking for two master bedrooms. If I'm paying half the bills, I can also have a master bedroom. They asked us to look at this one and as soon as we went into this thing, we fell in love with it. They made some modifications for us to make the other room seem more like another master bedroom. They took the door off of the actual bedroom and off of the actual den and moved it to the hallway so that when we open that one door, it's like a master bedroom. Now it's almost like our house has two master bedrooms on each end. I call the master bedroom on one end a "kickout room". Then on the other end, there's a den with the wood burning fireplace and a bedroom across from it. There's also a small front deck and then we got a 10 by 12 back deck with its back up into open trees and fields. It's really cool.

Whatever little bitty things that we came up with, they set about right off the system, so we know there were no problems at all. There's a bathroom for my brother which I thought was the main bathroom and they were able to make that different because he's legally blind and he's always terrified of stepping in and out of the bathtub. We asked them if they could make it like a walk in shower in the master bathroom and they said it's not a problem. So they went on ahead and did it. We kept telling people about the Clayton Homes and about it's either hell out there and they're missing out. It is a dream home for us. I'm 65 this year and my brother's 64. He kept on saying that he never thought he would be able to have a place like this. It is perfect.

I dealt with Cindy and the Jeff down at the Oakwood Homes through Clayton Homes and they were wonderful and awesome. They were honest with everything and made the whole process easy. When I went in and picked the colors, they explained everything with my first time buying a home and made this thing very comfortable. I also had a price range that I wanted and they stopped there. That's what I was impressed about the most.

I got energy efficient appliances, my bill is 130 bucks a month, and I can't complain about that at all since I got two kids who are always watching TV in every room plus the AC runs all day. I also plan to add other features on my home sometime in the near future. I was totally pleased with Clayton Homes and I'd recommend them to anyone. My aunt and uncle lost their home to a fire back here about a month and a half ago and I recommended them to Clayton Homes. They are getting ready to get things started with them and get another home.

My wife and I were very pleased with our home buying experience with Clayton Homes. As far as I'm concerned DNI Homes set my house then Clayton Homes bought them out right in the middle of our buying process. We chose them because their saleswoman was very attentive from the minute we walked in that place. However, we ended up buying the model home due to a problem with the builder that was going to build our house. We started looking for a house in January, bought it mid-June and they had set and delivered it in November. I am recommending them but only on the basis of the sales person that we dealt with since I didn't really know anybody else there.

Now I do have some issues that happened during the process and we're going to see what happens in early August or mid-August to take care of some of the problems. I do not have a lot of big issues but there are about 15 to 20 things on a punch list that needed to be done. I talked to a Terry last week and she was giving me the name of the service department who's supposed to be here sometime mid to late August to do a few things they said that would need to be done.

I have a one window upstairs that has broken steel. I had a step back thermostat that was filtered out that I had to replace with a regular thermostat. I got my CFI's on the outside of the house. There are some lumps and bumps under the linoleum in the kitchen. There’s a piece of what feels like plywood under the carpet. And there's a decent part of the parting law when we separated the house. The guys who did it did a wonderful job except for one that I got to get redone. Sometimes it looks like it was done by a chain saw but I'm sure they'll take care of it. Other than that, I'm very pleased. I used to be a home builder myself so I know what it takes to make everybody happy.

Clayton Homes' consultant did a good job with keeping me updated on everything that was going on. She made sure that I knew what was happening and why it was happening that way if it was taking longer than usual. She also made sure I was satisfied with everything. We moved into our Clayton home the first of November so we haven't been there a year yet. I like it but the only thing is even though it has a lot of room, there's not much storage in the bathroom and there's no cabinet space for you to be able to put towels and that type of stuff. However, it has a lot of cabinet space in the kitchen and in the little dining section which is great. But, that's a little bit excessive compared to where I needed it.

The dishwasher doesn't work very well. My dishes were getting cleaned for the first few times. But after about two months of using it, I hand wash the dishes before I put them in the dishwasher to run them because when rinsing the dishes off they were still not that clean. I made sure that I'm using the products recommended in the booklet but it doesn't make any difference. It's disappointing for me because in the apartment that I live in the dishwasher was old but it works. I didn't even have to rinse anything off and everything was clean. Other than that, the stove and the fridge are fine. Also, the power bill has been great. When summer came and my son was home all day, I felt like my electric bill was going to really go up but it hasn't gone up that much. That's awesome. I had a good experience and I have recommended them a couple of times already.

We went to Oakwood down in Millsboro. From day one when we walked in the door, we met Shelly down there. She was very informative and was right on the ball. She was very good along the way, explained a lot to us, and even told us to look around. And she said, "You'll probably come back" in which we did. We looked at about five other places and we actually came back to her. We bought our home through Clayton Homes. She turned us on some very up to the minute end financing people. We got our mortgage through them. Then our warranty is not even up yet and we bought an extended one that's got a five year warranty on it.

But we had a few minor things. We had a leaky faucet. We had our floors fixed, a bathtub and a master bathroom that wasn't getting hot in it that was because of the mixture of the bed. And they came right out and took care of it. A storeroom door wasn't closed correctly and the next day, Don was here and took care of it. Then the house was done in November and it was our wet season here in Maryland and the yard was mud then I informed them of it. They said they would take care of it and the grounds guy would be back when the weather was good. And they came back, leveled it and seeded it, and it looks great right now so we're very happy with it. We've already sent them another two customers. They’re very great and they've done a good job.

Overall, the home buying process with Clayton Homes was medium-easy. We had to go through a couple of different submissions because they were submitting our home plan out to Vanderbilt for approval. The process would be simplified a lot more if they would run an application to determine exactly how much I could get qualified for, then let me choose something after that has been determined. I gave them a price range but it was based on what I knew I could pay per month. They chose a home but my credit rating wasn’t that great which didn't help the process either. They ran it and in the first home that I had looked at, that I wanted to run with, it would’ve put the payment higher than what I wanted to be able to afford. I would’ve preferred to know that I needed to pay this amount of dollars tops. That would be my budget and within that budget, I'd go ahead and choose which home that I wanted to look at and would go for.

For the most part, their reps have been very responsive to any type of issue that I brought up. I had to have them come out a couple of times to fix these little imperfections because it’s a manufactured home where they have some things happen that they had to come out and fix. I love the house that I got but there are a couple of things about it that I really wish I could’ve done a little bit different. For example, For an example, I’ve got linoleum throughout the house except for in the bedroom and it’s a three-bedroom home. So bedrooms had the carpet and I really didn’t want carpet. It was a special deal that was going on because of the plan that I could qualify for. But I've recommended Clayton Homes to a friend.

We purchased our modular home from Clayton Homes in Rosenberg, TX. In December 2012 it was delivered and set up in March of 2017. Right away we had problems with the back door shutting, they finally send someone out several times to try to fix it. By summer we were having problems with the A/C. After we had the home about a 1 1/2 (of course the 1 year warranty was up) did we discover the sub flooring in the laundry room by the back door was rotten. The door had been leaking every time it rained under the threshold (which was wooden) under the flooring, we had no signs of damage until I noticed a huge soft spot in the floor.

We have had AC problems every year, we have had 5 different companies out and now I am being told the unit is a piece of crap and I need a new unit which will cost $3k to $5k. (The house is only 4 years old). All the molding around the door frames is coming off, along with all the door hinges starting to break. This so called modular home (which they kept telling me was built to higher standards than onsite homes, is falling apart). The list goes on and on, this is just the tip of the iceberg. When I filed a complaint with Clayton Homes, the response was "Sorry your year warranty is up and you can file a complaint with the Department of Housing if you like." My advise, stay away from Clayton Homes.

That was a big plus for me because I'm pretty hard to please. We went through it and everything. I had a guy walk in and out a while ago and he told that for the price I gave for the home, it’s a good buy. And that's why I bought it. The price was right and the house is perfect. They came and set it up. They did everything and even set the air conditioner. They cleaned up and everything was neat. And the home consultant was excellent. I'm satisfied with everything. The appliances were clean and newer than the ones that are at home so I don't have any problems.

I am happy with my energy bills so far. We didn't have a bad winter but in the summertime, one of my bills was $87 and the next one was $115. It's great for me. Also, I'm happy with the location. I bought the lot and I had them put the trailer there. It's an acre land that means a lot of work and grass cutting. But I can't do anything since they've operated on both my feet at one time. The Clayton home we're in is different from everything else that we saw. We had been looking at trailers for two months and when we walked in the front door of the house that we got now, my wife and I looked at each other and said, "Finally we found the house that we were looking for." Initially, we looked and looked and were about to give up on trailers but this one looked like a house. It didn't look like a trailer and I hate trailers. We also got it at a really good price and we were very happy with it. We had seen smaller and trashier looking trailers for more than what we paid for ours. Finding out things about the home with the rep was a little bit slow but once we got our order put in we were all right.

We're also good with the appliances. I needed them there. But the cabinets are made out of paper so anytime I have to be a little careful not to get them wet because they tear apart. And we've had a couple doors that fell off and Clayton sent a guy right out shortly and let him put it on. Since then we haven't really had any more issues out of the home. I'm still going to have to change the paper cabinets but I'll do that myself. Our home was also supposed to be an energy efficient home. It keeps the house cool or even cold with tubes. If it had been 95 degrees around here, having a good air conditioner would mean a lot. My energy bills have also been lower. I've already recommended Clayton Homes to friends.

Clayton Homes was wonderful. There was no keep going around like when you go to a car dealership. I really didn't have to be in their office. They took my information and they handled everything as best they could over the phone. They got me approved really quick and just went from there. The closing process on the home didn't take very long. Our consultant was awesome. Anything I needed and any questions I had, he went over and above out of his way. If he didn't know the answer, he would find it out and get back with me. I call in and he would return my calls really quick. He stays on top even now. He still checks on me to make sure everything's okay.

I bought my property and used that as part of my down payment and had Clayton Homes put my trailer on it. I'm right by the lake right down the road. I'm extremely pleased with my location. I got the normal model and they had to come and redo my floor in my bathroom and my closet. For some reason, it was like somebody just cut the roll of vinyl in half and then went ahead and laid it. My refrigerator makes a funny sound but all in all, it was fine. I don't know if it’s just part of the refrigerator, but all my appliances work great and they go with my house.

The only issue I have and we can’t seem to figure out why I get a septic smell coming up underneath the sink. There's a little thing that's underneath there and they changed it out but I still get a septic smell in my bathroom. They put the septic system in because they included that into my financing which helps me out a lot. But when the septic was done, it kind of went into a hole because it settles. And the deck was able to get the guy to come back out and level it off to a degree. It's not perfect but it's better than it was. So, he was able to help me with that.

Other than that, the trailer's great. It's perfect, and good on controlling the heat and air. My electric bill is $70-$90 at the most and it's all electric. It really is energy efficient. I am very pleased with that. I also told Clayton Homes that after all the rain and the settling of my trailer, I'm gonna need it releveled and they told me to let them know when I'm ready. I would definitely recommend Clayton Homes to anybody. They've gone over and above. The company itself, the salesman and everybody has been awesome with taking care of me.

I passed by Clayton Homes and decided to see what deals they had. Everybody treated me nicely over there, they had good service and their consultants explained everything to me. They didn't miss a detail. Any question I had, they answered. I was in an older wooden home before with old wiring and that had something to do with my electric bill. The wiring needed updating. With Clayton, my bill is lower now. I need a porch though and maybe I'll talk with them about what they would charge. Clayton is a good company and I had a few neighbors who came over and they wanted to know where I bought my home and I told them.

I moved to Kansas to be with my grandkids because my wife died about three years ago. I stayed there for about eight months and I got homesick. My son was in the army and he got medically discharged. I wanted him to come and live with me if I get home big enough for all of us to live in. I said I will make the house payment and go from there. We would be together and I could see my grandkids grow up.

I came back home and I put in an application with Clayton Homes. I had a judgment for a hospital bill against me because right after my wife died, I had a wreck. I had to show proof from where I got the money after paying my judgment and that was the biggest hassle but it was with the loan company. I was approved and I had come up with about $8,000 so I quickly put a $6,800. It took me about six months to get it taken care of. But everybody at Clayton Homes was great to me. They always did what they said they were gonna do and I've been happy with everything.

I am a 76 year old great grandmother and I recently purchased a mobile home to live near my granddaughter as I get older and my health declines. I went to Clayton expecting quality, but instead was totally taken advantage of. The manager, Ed ** recommended a contractor to do all of the work including plumbing, electricity and land. I was inexperienced in this area because my husband and myself built our home that we shared 50 years ago and so much has changed. This contractor named Michael ** caused me to have extreme issues with my depression and anxiety. He took 7 months to "complete" the work. Each time he came by he would tell me something else that needed a permit until we eventually gathered more permits than required for the work he was doing!

He would complete one job then take his equipment home and the next time he came back he would require payment for bringing his equipment all over again. This might be understandable if he worked for more than 2 hours once a month. I trusted Mr. ** to help me make the right choice to get this done in lieu of a nursing home. I've been a teacher for over 50 years and I've never had anyone do anything this horrible.

No one has come out to repair all of the issues caused by them moving the home. Michael ** is contracted with Clayton to do their dirt pads, and nothing else. This man did not even complete the water heater hook up nor did he put the electrical pole where Cleco could connect. I've spent 1000s fixing mistakes the Alexandria, LA Clayton location has made. I called to speak with Mr. ** about the issue and he would hear nothing of it. I will NEVER purchase from this company nor will I recommend them after this experience.

Harold, our salesperson from Clayton was absolutely wonderful. We told him what we were looking at over in Greenville at Oakwood Homes. He said that the guy from Oakwood Homes was charging us way more than what we were getting. We were actually looking at a trailer that had been sitting on the lot for almost two years and he was going to charge us full price. There were no deductions for the unit being a floor model. Harold told us what our bottom price could be for what was basically the same thing brand new and it was $9,000 less. Harold was upfront with everything. And so, we told him to hook us up.

Since the purchase, we've added a porch at the front of the house and a small deck at the back. Furthermore, my wife and I found some rails that had split and we called Harold about it. He asked us to send him a picture and when we did, he said that the guys from Clayton would be out here the next day. Clayton called me that afternoon and said they couldn't fix the rails because they were doing two more porches and that they would be out here by Thursday. They replaced the split rails on Thursday and it was perfect.

Also, one thing I didn't like about the appliances in the home was the stove. I had bought a flat glass top stove and what came in with the trailer was a regular one. I kept the same stove because it was black. Still, the only thing I would change in the home would be the stove. Also, we had some issues with our water heater. Rodney, who is on Clayton's service crew, had to take the water spigot apart and adjust it so that it would turn far enough for the hot water to come out. So now, we have hot water in the shower and the tub. Clayton has been really diligent with everything. And so, I've recommended them to two or three people already.

I'm very satisfied with our salesman and our home buying process at Clayton Homes. We got a brand new set of appliances that came with the house and our energy usage is astounding. We moved from a smaller house to a bigger one but our power bill has gone down. The appliances we are using are probably using the same amount of energy but the insulation of our heat pump is more efficient. We've been extremely happy with that. We also had a well dug, a septic system put in and I've added porches to the house aside from the standard 4x4's that you have to get in the same pass codes. So, we've extended those with a fence in a backyard. I grew up in the area and so we love the community. We would buy from them again if we ever needed another house. They were phenomenal.

The process of buying the home went smoothly. It’s just that I had a little trouble getting stuff done afterward. I got a crack in my foundation and I said something to them two months ago about that. They said the guy that did the brick work has been wanting to come by and look at the foundation. But he never came by. A piece of my backsplash in the kitchen that goes on the wall wasn't on there when it was built. The guy said, "They've been leaving those off for some reason." I never got that piece.

The home consultant, Scott, was really nice. The appliances were new. Overall, I am satisfied with my experience. My only real issue with them was, I had a single wide sitting on my land. They said that when we got in our house, they'd remove the single wide off. He said, "I'll have my guys come in. We'll fix your yard, sow your grass. We'll make it look really good." After they pulled the single wide off, that was it. I was left to plant my grass and everything. Scott said, "No, we don't plant grass. Because if we do and it dies, then people want us to redo it." It turns out, we were misled and I would have handled it differently.

I've recommended Clayton Homes many times. The homes are beautiful from the displays that they had and the consultant was very convincing. The people I've talked to were also very concerned about what my interests were. Alex was really helpful and right on me all the time. He was always really concerned, right there walking me through my purchase, and reassuring me that if I had any concerns, I could give him a call anytime. I really appreciate the time and effort that he put into it.

I went to a mobile home park and the permanent foundation of the trailer I got was already established. Knowing that the trailer came with whatever comes with a standard mobile home, I couldn't make an adjustment. But the price was my concern too and things worked out really great. The energy bills are reasonable. I have an air conditioner in the window and that's comfortable. The appliances that came with the trailer are also really nice and everything is color-coded. But the seams aren't even throughout the house. Clayton could have done a better job on them to make them more balanced. I found that out when was I hanging pictures. They looked awkward because one side's not matching the other but it's working out.

Clayton mobile home (2017) year model had the skirting put up two days after delivery. This gave no time to install plumbing and electrical. I had to source it out to employees of Clayton Homes (Searcy) upon Clayton Homes management’s advice. The jobs (electrical/plumbing) was installed, in my opinion substandard and without permits or licenses issued by The State of Arkansas. The water heater inlet hoses were NOT connected and for approximately 25 minutes flooded the kitchen and all the insulation and subflooring. I brought this to their attention and was told it would dry out with no mold or mildew. The sewer lines and waterlines were held off the ground by (bailing wire). The water input lines were not properly cleaned and cemented and after 2 days they all separated leaving a 'small' pool of water under the mobile.

I brought the above to Clayton Homes, Searcy, the Searcy management and also corporate Customer Service to no avail. The sliding glass door will not lock and unlock, which I was advised the part was in the service truck but he choose not to install the new parts. (Security and safety) Concerns for burglary and exit in case of fire or disaster. The house was NOT financed through their broker and appears, in my opinion, was a factor, of the substandard workmanship and work done without qualified Clayton Homes, Searcy, AR tradesmen with proper State License.

In my opinion, due to the mobile home being paid in full I have no recourse in getting the situations corrected to The State of Arkansas standards. I have attempted to get the above (jobs-electrical/plumbing) fixed according to code without any response. In case of fire and developed mold/mildew I will have no recourse due to non-licensed tradesman (employees of Clayton Homes Searcy). The above is my observations and opinions from first hand observations of the above work being performed. To keep this complain in proper perspective I did not list individual names of the employees. No malice or aforethought was expressed or indicated or written to be slanderous and libelous. The above is true and accurate as written to the best of my knowledge.

I looked at regular homes and they were stick-built. With Clayton Homes, there weren't that many of them down here and we could pick up this trailer for a reasonable fee. Plus my daughter said that it’s the home she wanted. So we had decided to move down here from Rhode Island since it was just getting too expensive to live there. The taxes are three times as much as they are down here and we've been in here since December. My daughter lives in a Clayton home too.

The salesman was nice at first, but after I bought the place, he got rather snippy. I had paid for the entire house including a deck on the back but then we decided we didn't want the deck because there wasn't enough room out there and we weren't going to use it so I wanted my money back for the deck. But the salesman was bound and determined that we weren't going to get that money back. He was mad because we stopped there at their office one day to talk about it and he came running out and told me that Eric, who was the manager of Clayton, was not there. I knew very well he was though because his truck was there. I went back the next day which was the salesman's day off and spoke to Eric himself and he was very nice.

He told me how much I was getting back and I had it back exactly when he said. Then the salesman came in to fix something that was here in the house and he had to check for the refunds and literally threw it at me. He'd been with Clayton Homes for 12 years but he acted like he was afraid of me and it sounded strange. I came from up north and I'm what they call an old, foreign Kankakee and I argue if I need to which he didn't like. I have learned that salesman is no longer with Clayton Homes though.

Our house wasn't brand new off the assembly line but nobody ever lived in it, it had been a demonstrator type. I like the home and I also love is the two bathrooms since we only had one before. The closets also are huge and there's plenty of closet space. However, as you come to the door, there's a foyer and the master bedroom across it. I would have had it that the master bedroom wasn't so close to the front door though. Also, I had a small deck put on the front and there had to be a stairway coming down off the back. Everything they did was already cut and measured but it's not the greatest quality. I had a garage built but I had a completely separate company build it because it was a much better quality than the fellows who worked on the deck.

There were also a few things that needed fixing but they have all been taken care of. If we have an issue, Clayton Homes has been very good about it. Steve was a repairman that works for Clayton Homes and he was excellent, pleasant, comes when he says he's going to come and very knowledgeable. He is an asset to Clayton Homes.

My fiancé and I just purchased a home that took 6 months to actually close on. Clayton originally told me that it would take 2 weeks back in July of 2016! Clayton sales representative forged my fiancé's initials on a "sales contract" which is ILLEGAL!!! On top of that they told us the home cost $70,000 when in actuality is cost $75,500. They changed the price after we agreed to buy it! Of course that raised the sales tax, as well. They promised we could make color changes, add bedroom ceiling fans, change the type of shutters on the outside of the home, when all along they knew they were lying! Especially this one woman we specifically dealt with! She told us so many lies it was hard to actually keep track of them!!!

On top of that when they finally put the home together, they did not tighten the electrical wires, the sewer container is rising from the ground, and the stove didn't work! They gave us the "bottom-of-the-line" appliances on purpose! The refrigerator doesn't even have the capability to make ice! In conclusion, forgery is against the law! That is a MAJOR concern for us. If I had known what I know now, I would have never chosen this company to do business with. They are messing with people's families, safety, welfare and lives!!! This is NO JOKE!

They never came to look at my land to see what needed to be done until they were ready to haul dirt. Once the manager got out here, he realized that it would take a lot to build up my land. Once he found someone who would do it, the company stated that it would cost much more than they allotted in my contract. The manager asked me if I would allow them to utilize the dirt that I had on my land from an area that was just there. I agreed to it. My contract was never changed to reflect this. This is now the latter part of the month of April. Once they got the leveling down, the problems began. Once the home was delivered the process began to break down.

There were numerous issues that I encountered. House was not and still is not level. Below is a list of issues and if they had been corrected. We had to buy a new and bigger home because we ended up with my 6 grandbabies. Jodys from the home site has gone beyond to help us find a great home. Always picks up the phone when we call. Love him. Great guy!!! And Vanderbilt bank has been great. Amy, Bruce, Jessie, David has went out of their way to make the loan work for our family! We didn't know what we was going to do with what we make and a new home but they made it happen. I will be forever grateful to them.

I'm a disabled vet and can not see or walk well. Clayton Homes took advantage of this. The house hit a tree during transport but Clayton Homes did not tell me, but tried to hide it from me. The entire front wall had shifted back, twisting the metal front door, damaging wall sheathing, buckling siding and damaging soft/fascia. They tried to patch up some of the damage, and then told me that there was nothing wrong with the front door, even though it would not close and allowed cold air in. Finally 8 months later they replaced the front door but it was only by accident that I found out about the home hitting a tree. There is still damage to the siding and sheathing.

Sub-floor improperly installed. One 4'X8' sheet is coming up through the vinyl. In the hallway the sub-floor was not butted up together and they laid the vinyl over the gap without fixing first so female relatives wearing high heels risk punching through. They laid the vinyl flooring over loose nails and screws. When I asked the factory rep why they didn't take the time to sweep the floor first, he told me "they don't have time. They have 8 minutes to install all of the flooring in a house. We go back and fix everything later on site". That means taking a knife and cutting through your vinyl floor to get the nail or screw.

They set this house 5 feet off the ground! Higher than any home they have ever set before, even knowing that I am a disabled vet and can't see or walk well. So high that they did not have stairs tall enough to fit so 9 months later I still do not have stairs to the front door. I paid for extra items like handicap doors and they did not install them. I paid for an upgraded filtration system but did not receive. Instead they installed a cheap Mexican furnace that takes a thinner (1/8"), and longer filter than you can buy, so I have to purchase two and modify them to fit. They installed a very small water line, and refuse to fix it so I am left with a trickle of water in the shower and sinks, and can not use the dishwasher.

My aunt had to clean for 4 days before I could move in. They didn't even bother to sweep the floors before shipping it. The cabinets and floors were covered in sawdust, cut off wood pieces, slopped paint, glue, etc... The end of the house, which was the front as it was towed down the highway from Tennessee was covered in road grime and oil and now is permanently stained. Clayton Homes could care less, and they have no pride in their work at all. They are only worried about getting paid. Once that happens, it is virtually impossible to speak with them.

Clayton Homes took 63 days to hook my gas up so I could not cook or take a bath during that entire time. When I called, I was told "it's top priority, the top of the list. We'll send someone out right away". Another two weeks would go by and I would keep calling with the same response. Then to top everything off, it took them ANOTHER 24 days after that to get me a refrigerator! I have no idea what I would have done if I had kids here. Living in this home is like living on a movie set. It's all smoke and mirrors. Once you open a cabinet or look a little closer with the lights on, you see just how cheap everything is. The cabinets are literally made of cardboard like material. The door and window trim is made from the same stuff.

Clayton Homes advertises Energy Smart Homes, but they DO NOT INSULATE AROUND DOORS OR WINDOWS!! I discovered this by accident when they replaced my front door. Take the door or window trim off the wall and you can literally look outside! No wonder I almost froze to death this past winter! Ice formed around the doors and windows when the temp dropped to minus 11. Moisture got behind the wall next to the back door, froze and sealed that door. We had to rent a 36000 btu heater to thaw it out and get it to open.

The furnace is placed in the wrong location. The end of the house so the master bed and bath get no air at all. My razor froze on the shower shelf during the winter. You freeze all winter and then roast all summer. I can not open any of the windows on nice days because the cheap windows they use have a design flaw. Every window and door frame have small drain holes on either side. Those holes are just big enough to let flies and mosquitoes into the home. If you close those holes up, water backs up and voids the warranty. So, if you have a nice day and want to let some fresh air inside... you can't. When I complained about the local sales crew, the manager at Clayton Homes of Troy started calling my relatives and hanging up when they answered. He would also leave 4.5 minute weird music on the voice mail if no one answered. I had to threaten legal action to get it to stop.

If you leave a negative comment on Clayton Homes website or Facebook page, they delete it and block you so that you can not leave any comments again. The local Clayton Homes of Troy Facebook page does the same thing. All of the positive reviews are from THE EMPLOYEES and their relatives which you don't know until after you have purchased and start to recognize names. Clayton Homes is a huge scam and rip-off! They have no pride in their work. Could care less. Don't want to hear from you. I was told that most people just accept what they get and that I should do the same. I paid $60,000 for something that cost maybe at most $15,000.

I send a letter and a list of other complaints I had at that time. They send someone out to check, I was told they couldn't find anything wrong. Then I noticed the bottom of the kitchen cabinet was starting to buckle out. Since then I have had numerous soft spots in the floor. There is water leaking through windows and areas around back door, which has finally caused the floor to weaken. I feel that I have been paying for something that is not worth it. I have also had a/c problems, mold problems, window that just burst out for no apparent reason and other problems.

My husband and I had looked at a lot of mobile homes in our area. Due to our credit not being the best we had put off trying to purchase a home until our credit was a little better. Clayton Homes had a special one weekend in our town so we thought we would try again even though we did avoid going to them due to the reviews. Well I can tell you the reviews are very true. We have had the worst first time home buyer experience you could possible have. We were not fully informed of certain issues we were responsible for when we volunteered to handle the skirting. We were not told we had to buy it out of our pocket if we were going to install it. They put us down as doing our own electrical work when we had told them we were only doing plumbing, skirting, pad, and trim out so we had to pay an extra $100 to buy the permit for the electrical.

I finally got the company to buy the skirting after it sat on our land for 2 months without any and we have installed it. The shingles are falling off and I have a list of about 20 things that is wrong. I have finally got the factory involved but have been told they will not fix any of the cracks in our sheet rock because that is part of the trim out and we are responsible for it. Our dining room floor is buckled and that is from the decking not being correct and they are supposedly going to send some contractors out that work for the factory to fix my list but I won't believe it until it is done. We have been in this home for 3 months and you can tell that this company does not care anything about fixing their issues because they always blame someone else and pass the buck.

If you are looking at buying a mobile home do NOT go to Clayton Homes anywhere. I would strongly suggest you read reviews and research these companies before making such a major investment. I will never recommend this company to anyone. I have only uploaded some of the outside issues, but I have a ton of other pictures from the inside that I don't have on this computer. The eve metal is bent to hell and there are holes in our vinyl siding that they sent someone out there 3 times to fix and still missed some. The shingles are broke and needing to be fixed.

I'm telling you in this company they don't believe in the customer is always right or making anyone happy or satisfied. They have one handyman for the entire panhandle they cover and he even told me he doesn't have time to stay at one person's home to fix a lot of issues because he has so many to do and he is the only one they have. It is poor management on their part to sell homes to people and then can not even make sure their homes are complete and able to be lived in comfortably and fix anything in a timely manner. It's ridiculous the kind of company they are and they get away with it even after so many bad reviews and complaints. I have filed a BBB complaint also and if they don't fix to my satisfaction I will be hiring an attorney which I know several because I work for attorneys. I feel sorry for everyone who has listed their complaints on here. It is sad to see Clayton is so bad throughout the country.

We purchased our home in February 2012 during the Minot Home Show. The Home was bought thru Iseman's of Minot. We were told our home had a PROPOSED delivery date of June 1, 2012. We had 4 months to sell our current home. We were so excited about this home, we kept looking on the Iseman's website at it!! My husband, not being very computer savvy clicked on the SD location by accident. We saw the same exact home that we just purchased for about $10,000.00 cheaper!!! I immediately called the number listed in South Dakota. The Sales Rep (Toby @ **) at this location sent me a QUOTE for the same exact house, being delivered to the same exact location for $10,000.00 cheaper than what we purchased it at the Minot Home Show. Keeping in mind this is when the Oil Boom was at their prime and sale prices skyrocketed out of control.

First thing I did the next morning, I contacted my Sales Rep, Mike ** with Iseman's Homes in Minot and told him I wanted to cancel our contract, due to the fact we were a victim of Price gouging!!! Upon request of the Sales Manager of Iseman's in Minot, he asked if I could send him a copy of the quote (which is dated March 12, 2012) I received from THEIR office in South Dakota. Meanwhile, the first couple to look at our current home, put a deposit down, with a contingency of our new home becoming available and livable.

On March 16, 2012 at 9:30 PM, we received a call from Timothy ** (cell # **). Tim advised us this was a true MISTAKE!! "The Sales Rep in South Dakota was a new Rep and didn't know what he was doing. The home he sent you a quote on was not a "NEW" home." If we were to purchase this home we would not be able to pick out the colors that we wanted. We spent approximately 45 min. on the phone with him. During this time, we realized Mr. **'s words were very slurred!! We had MANY, MANY questions for him. Questions that Mr. ** could not answer!! Mr. ** ended the call by stating " YOU PEOPLE ARE PISSING ME OFF" and hung up on us.

We received an email from Tim, stating that he was assuring us he is doing everything possible to make us happy. He had us convinced the cheaper home did not have anything we wanted in our original contract that we signed in Minot. Foolishly, we believed him!! Tim offered to take $1329.00 off our original purchase, and we were to keep this "hush-hush" due to them selling several homes at the Indoor Sale for our original price.

So we receive another quote from Tim, dated February 2012 for the lesser amount. To fast forward all this... June 1, 2012 comes, and guess what??? Per Mike ** at Iseman's in Minot, they have no idea where our house is!!! Since we have already sold our current home and will be homeless in a few weeks, good ole Mike ** offers us his camper to live in until they locate our house (nice guy huh!). We let our buyers know our predicament and they are willing to wait until our house is ready. Mind you, this is June!!! After a million phone calls and trips to the Minot Sales office they finally FIND our home. The time frame has now jumped to the middle of August!!! To make a long story short, we are finally able to move into our home October 2012.

This home was sold to us under the understanding it was "NORTH DAKOTA made". Hahahaha!!! The first storm that we experienced, half the siding of the home blew off!! We called Iseman's who told us we now needed to contact "Clayton Homes". I get in contact with Larry ** of Clayton Homes. I tell him what happened with the siding. He sends his crew out and reassures us that they have the problem solved. He STATED, "The siding was not properly attached, every other piece was stapled in, however we fixed it and you won't have any other problems."

The next winter comes, 2013, a few more pieces of siding fly off the home. We thought OK we can just get that fixed. 2014 comes, a few more pieces of siding fly off. Ok now this is becoming an issue. Upon speaking to the contractor who we had to hire to fix the siding on numerous occasions, he stated, "The entire house is only stapled together and the pieces of the siding are too far apart, they barely touch each other. You will continuously have this problem until you re-side the entire house!!!"

So now we contact Larry ** again. I let him know and send him emails and pictures of the siding, not only is the siding coming off, but all the windows on the North side of the house have been replaced by us, due to stress cracks, and they need to be replaced again, not even a year after replacing them with THEIR windows!!! I have also sent him pictures of all the cracks in every corner this house has to offer, including down the main seam where the two pieces were put together.

Larry ** and his "Uppers" told us, "As a customer courtesy, we will reimburse you the $125.00 you paid to Kolden Construction for the repairs done to the home in October 2016. And as already agreed to, we will be more than happy to send you 4 square of siding, at no charge to use towards future repairs." FUTURE REPAIRS!!! Which tells me they know they screwed me over and will not fix the problem but they are willing to send me material so I can fix it!!!

First of all, the siding they are willing to send me will not match the siding currently on the house, due to the poor quality of the siding and it's fading. Secondly, if they are will to send me material and parts for FUTURE repairs, what does that tell you... They know their quality of workmanship is poor. So I asked Larry, "If you bought a $100,000.00 Corvette, and all of a sudden the paint started chipping off, would you be satisfied with touch up paint for future repairs???" Well, this home is my corvette!!! My home is only 4 yrs. old and this company is telling me that due to the warranty expiring, the repairs to the siding is at my cost!!! Imagine that!!! A home that cost you well over $90,000.00 and it is already starting to deteriorate!!!

I am not sure if you can see the pictures, but I have included pictures to back my story. Unfortunately, I have a video of the siding blowing in the wind and your site does not support videos. Please contact me if you would like to see this video! This couple had no problem with that since they had a home of their own to sell. We stayed in CONSTANT contact with our Sales Rep. from Iseman's Homes in Minot ND; Mike **. Mike kept reassuring us everything was on schedule!!! Once May of 2012 arrived, I then contacted Mike **.

Bought this place 18 months ago new. Started having problems as soon as we moved in. Most of the trim inside had not been nailed on (some still hasn't). When complained they sent out repairman who hammered a few brads in and then covered them with white caulking, no paint. This left large places on molding that now look rough and unfinished. Next both doors began leaking when it rained, took 5 visits to fix problem. Wind hit back door and blew it across room and into inner door, inner door had to be remounted. Outer door had to be replaced as it had been incorrectly mounted at the factory. Pipes kept freezing in cold weather until well was covered with insulation. Entire house was out of kilter and slumped into the center between both halves (double wide). Inner and outer walls were cracked as home settled. Repair consisted of white silicone caulk and paint over caulk, which lasted about 1 month.

Oven stopped working after 3 months, had to wait 3 weeks for new part for repair. Floors began to warp and buckle after 5 months as supports began to sink into soft ground below home. Repair consisted of a new jack under one spot that was sagging, which caused the floor to raise and a dimple to appear in floor. Counter tops began peeling off in long sections, repaired 6 times over 1 year period. One month before warranty ended factory refused to make any further repairs. Air conditioner began freezing in summer when used. Installer came out 4 times to repair but it is still freezing and now the warranty is up. Walls were supposed to be textured dry wall, instead it is paper with plaster cover. All walls have cracked around windows. None of the inner doors would open or close properly when we moved in, took 4 months to get them corrected.

Floors began to creak and bounce after 6 months, caused by the joints not being laid over the floor joists so joints "float" causing entire home to shake and bounce when walking through. No correction was ever offered. Outer walls are concrete board, and all are cracking and separating from one another. Area around septic tank caved in and they sent out someone to refill it (after 4 months) then it caved in again about 2 months before the warranty ran out and they put off fixing it until the warranty ran out and now refuse to do anything. All outside pipes leaked and needed to be replaced.

Home was painted wrong colors at factory and when complained about was given correct paint and told to paint it myself. Insulation is a laugh, home gets to over 90 degrees in Summer with the airconditioner on, electric bill runs $300-400 a MONTH for energy efficient home. All in all, it has been a $147,000 disaster. Don't EVER buy from Clayton Homes, they make cheap garbage and don't stand behind it even when the warranty is still in force.

I bought a home from Clayton Homes in Evans Co. It will be 4 yrs this summer. I had looked at this home for a yr. I knew it inside and out. I knew what features I wanted. I went to Evans Co because they sold Shultz homes and thats what I wanted. My nephew had got me hooked up with the salesman Justin. He had plaques on the wall for being the best salesman. This guy did not have his head in the game, I ordered the trailer with the features I wanted. As soon as they got their money which I paid cash for the work slowed to snail pace.

At the end of ordering we a were going thru the details I was starting to freak out at the price this home was costing me. We were going to go all gas in the home but Justin had said that a gas water heater if it went out are hard to install plus pricey so we went gas and electric. Then we discussed the voltage. I was going to save 100.00 to go with 100amp hm. When the electrician came to hook the trailer up he asked if I had ordered central air which I did, the electrician said there wasnt enough room in the box to hook it up so it cost me an extra 1075.00 to get another box for the central air.

Now to me when you are ordering central air its the salesman job to let you know you need 200 amp home. So instead of it costing 100$ it cost 1075.00. The trailer is the wrong color, my oven vent leaks water down on my stove when it rains. I was told that was normal. Anyway I had numerous things wrong, they came the first yr and did some inside work but ignored me the outside work. I upgraded the siding to cemplank which cost me more. It was not put on right. I was told that was normal. I wrote the BBB. Clayton ignored them.

So I got a lawyer. My lawyer sent off letters to clayton corp and the office and shultz. So then finally I heard back from the manager there Mike, he did his phony salesman ** apologizing for everything. So last summer they came out and worked 2 days and left not finished. So now spring is coming in on yr 4. I sent Mike an email getting madder and madder as Im writing it. So I get a call from them. They made an appt for today the 14th - 17th no show so Im going to try to get a hold of them tomorrow morning. If I dont hear back Im going back to the lawyer and Im suing them for the cost of my trailer.

My advice to those looking to purchase a trailer DONT GO TO CLAYTON HOMES and if you do, write everything down and keep all emails and text messaging. I saved everything!! They are the worst company I have ever dealt with. Makes me wonder if I wasnt a female if I would have gotten better service. Something needs to be done with this company. This is people hard earned money and lives that this company is messing with.

Right after our year ran out on getting things fixed we had a leaking roof, glass door fell out of frame in the kitchen, fireplace leaked and smoked up the house, shower cracked, bathtub cracked, water leaked through light fixtures in the kitchen, ceilings were cracked, faucets were broken and toilet seats broke in half. The walls have gaps between them where they meet, cabinets that were dark wood now look like they are faded and have paint coming off of them.

We've had over 15 sets of contractors sent by Clayton Homes to come out to look at our house and fix it. They would all come one time and promise to be back in a week or so and never return. This house is 3 years old and is falling completely apart. Please listen to us when we say NEVER trust Clayton Homes or believe the mess that they promise. Something that we thought would last for a long time has fallen apart in less than 3 years. And now we are stuck with it. From day one Brad was honest and work extremely hard to help us get what we wanted. He was available almost every time I called and emailed me back with answers to any questions I had almost immediately. Many days we wanted to give up but he gave us reassurance that everything would be fine and that Vanderbilt would do all they could to work with us and they did. From start to finish with our situation the entire process took about 3 months to close. Our rates at good!

I read some of the reviews previously about how Vanderbilt is a rip off and they don't care about their customers, in doing so I compiled a list of questions based off of the complaints I read so that I could find clarity on what was expected and from the answers I received I came to one conclusion about the people who had complaints - all of them were either behind in their mortgage or couldn't afford it! As long as you pay your debts on time you don't have to worry about collection calls. Vanderbilt reserved the right to call about their payments the day you signed on the dotted line, so don't make them out to be bad guys when you are not holding up to 100% of your end of the deal. For any newcomers reading this post I recommend Clayton Homes of North Charleston and our angel Brad ** to assist you in the purchase of your new dream. Good Luck!

This is my 6th new manufactured home but the first one that I can say that I had issues with. In dealing with the issues of ice on my walls in the cold weather and a back door that won't stay shut when it gets cold to open access doors in the belly of the home that allowed Northern Illinois winter weather to get in and freeze everything up Clayton has stood behind the home 110%.

As for the dealer that I purchased the home from, well maybe they have stood behind it 68% of the time. Because we are so far away from any dealer Clayton Homes has hired area people to come in and take care of the issues that I've had. One of my major things is to keep all documentation either e-mail or written form. This will come in handy if side of the parties involved wants to do the hide and seek trick.

STAY AWAY! We are always current on our 9 year mortgage but are looking at letting the home go into foreclosure. After only 2 years the roof leaks began and continue to show up in every room. We just found our 4th one 2 days ago after several days of moderate rain. Of course the one year warranty is long gone, and we have no more money to continue to fix so many leaks AND pay a mortgage and a lot fee. Inspectors have told us the roof installation was one of the WORST they have ever seen, and the roof shouldn't have to be replaced when we found the first leak. We are HEARTBROKEN. This home was intended to be our retirement home, and it's literally falling down all around us. God only knows where the next one will show up.

Neither Clayton Homes nor Vanderbilt Mortgage nor HomeFirst Insurance Agency (all owned by Berkshire Hathaway) will not stand behind us and help us by either making the necessary repairs or replacing this substandard lemon that fell off the assembly line. HomeFirst also cancelled our insurance after the first and only claim, so now we are paying higher rates elsewhere. I hope this information will help at least one other person to avoid the mess we have found ourselves in.

My wife and I lost everything after the 2016 flood and Living in a Travel Trailer. After looking for a home we found the ONE!! Our salesman give us a flyer on the sale. The floor model Lexington - it has the serial number on the flyer. It was very clear that we would get the one on the lot. We wrote everything up paid $1000.00 down to secure the home. (SO THAT IT WOULD NOT BE SOLD) Now we are told they sold our home and can't get another one for months if then. I have a signed Sales Agreement and they cashed my 1000.00. After going around and around with manager, he said "Nothing I can do." How SAD is this that they don't care. I have to start this process over again. IT'S NOT RIGHT.

The manager said it an error and it's not. THEY KNOW WHAT THEY WERE DOING. Did not call us. We had to find out by going up there. WE WERE PLACING INSURANCE ON IT. When I was looking at homes Clayton told me that they purchase the property, that way development wasn't held up, then the land and home would be sold as a package to me. If I took the lot model I would be able to move in by August 31st. I bit hook line and sinker!! I ended up purchasing the land and home in the same loan but Clayton did not purchase the land. Because this delayed development they committed to having me in by September 30th. It didn't happen, one error after another!

They gave me the keys to have the washer/dryer delivered and the bank was supposed be coming that day. When I entered the home I was shocked! Door frames were lying on the floor, the carpet was not nailed down, the toilets had been used and disgusting! Mud/dirt had been spread throughout the house, plaster dust was everywhere. I called and they sent someone out immediately... It took them 3 more days. Then I was finally given the keys and the steps into the house front or back were not done and they make you sign a document saying that it's ok that cabinet doors are crooked and that nails and staples may be loose or showing. What the heck!!

I still have the following problems: toilet lids don't belong to the toilets I have, the exhaust fan in the master was removed and not replaced yet, there is a chip in the counter where a nail came up, the panel on the back of the island has all the staples popping out and it's heavily scarred, the fan hood over the stove is white and the appliances are black, the nails in the carpet are very painful when you step on them. The dishwasher isn't hooked up, the window sills in the living room are bubbled and warped, the light over the kitchen island does not work. The blind in one room was cut too short and falls when you try to open it, the first time it scarred my wine table. There is no icemaker in the freezer like what was presented. This is the most exhausting and regretful decision I have ever made!

I purchased a mobile home from Clayton Homes in Dyersburg, in November of 2015 (the Breeze) at a cost of over 36,000. I am extremely dissatisfied with the quality of materials used on and in this home. To begin, the model I viewed on their lot had appliances like GE, Maytag, Whirlpool. The unit I was given had Frigidaire, somewhat lesser quality appliance. Then, had to call them to fix border of wallpaper not being tacked down properly, unfinished cabinets, rough, unpainted surfaces, the master bath vinyl floor had 1 inch staples exposed, the wallpaper is tissue thin, anything hung or adhered to it tears it, the carpet in both rooms 1/8 inch deep, hardly a plush carpet. Doors that do not remain closed (possible unlevel) and uneven gaps around door frames. ALL of the vinyl siding around my home is rippling, as if it's melting in the heat, There are gaps in the siding allowing rain and moisture to affect the insulating materials, outlets not working.

There are numerous other issues in addition to what I have mentioned which I HAVE addressed to the sales rep and maintenance person at Clayton, numerous times, the first was on 07/20/16, then 08/02/16, 08/30/16 then 09/21/16. I believe they are waiting for my 1 year manufacturing warranty to expire, in November, so they will not have to fix these problems. Though I did purchase an extended 5 year warranty, and fear it will not be honored. I do not recommend anyone to purchase Clayton homes, and I will pursue further with the CEO to correct all the issues. I have used, literally, every cent I had, to purchase this home and all that was necessary to set it up. I am disabled and unable to work, and feel I was taken advantage of by this company. My original complaint and issues were addressed by the company's manager. They will fix the problems even though the warranty has concluded. I still believe the closets should be finished even if they're not walk in. They said no.

    Original Review: Sept. 13, 2016

Originally, our home was beautiful. We did not look as carefully as we should. The closets that are not walk in are not finished. There are rough edges that should have been covered. We signed our contract. We didn't move in till the 2nd week of August. There were some needed repairs including an open wire small square in my clothes closet. Our atrium door leaked and the entire frame needed to be replaced per one contract person. The last person who was out here said we were out of warranty. We are stuck with a door frame that is warped. When one of the painters came out, he got white paint on the beige. I basically was told we were SOL. We were even told by this last contractor that even though it's a manufacture defect, there might event be a $50 deductible. I sent a number of people there for purchases. Our sales person continues to see what he can do, but now, I cannot at all recommend this company.

We purchased our home in July 2016, the breeze 2. It was supposed to be this great home and fit our budget. 2 weeks into being in our home we had water coming into our hallway bathroom down the wall. We contacted Clayton to have someone come out to access the problem. The person who came said we had a shingle on our roof that was loose so he secured it back down and told us not to worry. 2 days later a bad storm came, we had more water. Now almost my entire ceiling is covered in green, black and pink mold.

3 days after this my oldest daughters bedroom across from that bathroom had water coming from under the floor into the bottom of her walls. I have ceilings in almost every room that have to be fixed by the factory including cracks, I have floors with bubbles in them, carpet that was cut too short, island in the kitchen came away from the walls and more. I had someone come to my house nearly 6 weeks after the mold started and it has over taken the entire bathroom, we cannot use it at all.

The guy got on my roof and found nails, staples and holes big enough to fit a screw driver in, and that's how water was getting in our home. I was told a contractor would be calling me and here it is yet another week gone by, to my surprise no phone call from anyone. Me and my family thought life would be great in our new home, but we are mistaken, we're living in absolute hell, and the amount of work that has to be done in our home is beyond ridiculous. I'm very close to seeking an attorney.

After spending a solid year looking for a home, I finally convinced my now husband to check out Clayton Homes. He lived in a 30 year old single-wide for 12 years and refused to live in a trailer any longer. He lived in the perfect location on family land and as picky as we were on location/land/privacy it made sense to stay where he was. The first model we walked into he could not believe it was a "trailer". We went to several different locations to check out the different models and I was not impressed by the "pushy" sales people who automatically assumed we had bad credit...fyi my husband and I both have incredible credit especially for "millennials".

Luckily we were recommended to Clayton Homes in Harriman. We never felt pushed or rushed. The whole staff went above and beyond. Their base models were upgraded from other Clayton Dealers (bigger water heater, dry wall throughout instead of paneling, etc.). We originally started the process with Vanderbilt Mortgage...boy did we quickly regret that! The interest rates are outrageous and the people we dealt with did not have a clue about customer service or professionalism. After my husband and I both lost it at separate times with our loan officer we found out we could finance with Mortgage Investors and quickly switched. Our interest rate is just like that of a regular stick built home and not 6-7% like Vanderbilt.

It took us two and a half years from the moment we first walked in to a Clayton dealer until we closed on our home. It took a lot longer than we had originally hoped but we had to fight with the county on issues (is the road considered a county road, will the house be too close to the road...etc.). We have now been in our home for over a year and a half and we love it! It was so exciting getting to pick out wall colors, cabinets, counters, flooring, window/door options and so on. The house fits us just perfectly and has become our home.

We knew when we purchased the house that it is a mobile home. It is factory built. The quality is not going to be the same as that as a stick built home but we got everything we were looking for in a home. Yes, we've had to re-glue some of the kitchen counters and other things like that but that is no big deal. Within the first year, we had a guy come out every few months to fix some things that did not get done before closing but Clayton took care of it. I have truly been amazed at how much we save each month in utilities. Our utilities bill for our 1500 sq ft homes is less than what I was paying each month for my 500 sq ft apartment and we won't even begin to discuss what his bill was in his old trailer.

We also pay less per month with mortgage than I did in my apartment. Course it helps that we already had the land. Every time someone comes into our home they are surprised that it is a mobile home. Even the layout is not the traditional mobile home layout. I have recommended Clayton Homes in Harriman to several other people but I tell them to go through Mortgage Investors if they are able to and NOT Vanderbilt Mortgage. We would not have done it any other way.

From the day it was set up, promises were made and never done. The men setting it up tracked red mud through the house the first day. That was to be replaced. Nope never happen. The floors were to be 3/4" plywood to support a wheelchair nope that is pressed board. All the plumbing has had to be worked on, every door handle replaced, all sinks, toilets, the only thing that hasn't been replaced is the garden tub and that's because it's never used but water backs up in it from the washer and shower because it's just not right.

The worst of it is the fact that 3 years after moving in I discovered the back wall for some reason was soft and gave when you touch it. Well we find out that water from rain has been running between to outside walls and inside walls since day one. That did come put gutters on the home but that didn't stop the water and now we have black mold growing inside the walls and we have to replace the floors and walls. Now I have emails, called, explained, yelled, cried and scream till I'm am blue in the face with these people.

I have even sent them pictures of the mold and where the walls are falling apart. We also had to replace the water heater, after getting to it behind a wall in the closet we found that the main wire from the box on the top of it was sitting in water. When we called the electrician he said it's a miracle the house didn't burn down around you. Again Clayton has ignored everything I have sent them or all my calls. Master tub moved and upon complaining to manager he informed me that tub was flangeless and this was normal so I called headquarters and they came and removed surround that was damaged by I-beam movement and found flange hadn't been screwed off. Tub in master bath had a bad mixing valve and took over a year for them to fix.

It was only upon getting in touch with the state of south carolina housing and manufactured homes board that clayton homes finished the repairs. I will tell you that the BBB was a waste of time and actually were making excuses for Clayton Homes and upon doing some research it came to my attention that companies pay "Dues" to be members of Better Business Bureau so you can I'm sure figure who is their primary concern. The problems are too numerous to keep going and parallel other complaints here but I would recommend that you research your state for a regulatory board. That will help you as it has me. I will say though that this was one of my most miserable experiences and I would recommend telling everyone not to do business with clayton homes. Claims not their problem that they left 2 holes behind my sealed in tub that has started collecting moisture and letting air come thru the access panel. I have filed a BBB complaint and am waiting. In the meantime, more moisture and damage is happening to my wall behind the tub and my sink cabinet that is connecting on the other side of wall where access panel is in molding and making me sick. Why does mobile home companies think they can get away with this? They even said that they have cancelled all warranty companies from their company. So first let me say if I could give less than one star I would. We purchased an IRC modular home from Clayton of Denver in 2014. It is now 2 years later and I am constantly fixing things on my brand new house. From day one we have had nothing but issues with Clayton. We have had to fight to get them to come out and fix any warranty work and after they came out to fix it, it was broken worse than before. We eventually quit calling them and just fixed it ourselves. So first off one side of the house sits an inch and a half higher than the other side which is extremely visible from the inside looking at the ceiling (Clayton refuses to do anything about it). Our upgraded furnace has now been broken 4 times. 3 of which are a wiring issue that still isn't fixed. Our furnace drain was never ran to the outside so it drained into the belly insulation until it eventually burst and flooded our basement.

In the dead of winter, Clayton sent out their contractor who made it leak worse and would never return my phone calls. Had to fix it myself. Plumbing doesn't drain properly (Clayton set someone out to look at it but then never saw anyone again) still doesn't drain right. T connector on water lines to the washer and toilet were not crimped right and flooded my basement and master bath. I have yet to find anything in this house that is square. I have one wall that is almost an inch out of level (most likely cause by the house being set incorrectly). The structural I beam that supports the middle of my house is twisted and was not grouped in. I was standing on the basement one day and could see daylight between the house and the seal plate. Clayton did fix this. The list goes on and on.

We are a young couple and this is our first house. I would never recommend Clayton to anyone. We could have built a customer home for $10,000 more and I kick myself every day for not doing that. In all likelihood the house will become a chicken coup on my farm and we will have a quality home built right. Stay away from Clayton!

We are on our 10th leak in our roof and shingles fall off all the time! We contacted Clayton thinking there is a warranty on a roof... Nope! They told me I have to make an insurance claim. Why hasn't others gotten together for a lawsuit against this company, plus the finance company is part of company, so other options not gone through! I'm 53, stuck for 24 yrs in a single wide, falling apart after one year and payments of 700.00. Something needs to be done. This includes the seller of home, constant runaround, no callbacks, rude! Worst part, can't resale home because value is half of what I paid plus no one else will finance a Clayton single wide! Stuck in a Cracker Jack box with too damn many surprises!

We purchased a home with Clayton Homes of Charleston, SC in March of 2015. Our entire experience was rushed, we were new/young home buyers. First they told us that they could get someone to clear our land for really cheap. Well that person fell through and now we don't have a cleared yard, like we were originally told. Made a promise they couldn't keep and we have to deal with their lack of caring. Our loan amount was supposed to cover it. We had to fight with them to get things fixed and some things still aren't fixed correctly.

After living here for a few months, our roof started to leak. They "patched" the roof where it was leaking, but didn't even think to look at the rest of the roof or to see if there was mold growing. Our roof still leaks!!! These people are only concerned with getting your money. They obviously do not care about their customers or their reputation!

The steps that were put on the house are the wrong size. When asked about this I was told that they had already purged our file and didn't have the paperwork anymore. What company purges files so quickly?? And the steps, they are already falling apart! I regret even dealing with this company! If you're reading this, go with a different company. If they make things right, I will update this review.

We purchased our in August of last year. We've had nothing but problems with their service department ever since. Getting them to come out and see what needs to be done they just tell us we'll be out but they never show up. We've had problems with the trim in the kitchen and that problem is it's not there. They said a repair crew from North Carolina would be up here to do some and they would have take care of it. That was 9 months ago. I guess they must of broke down coming up here because they never showed up. We can't do it because we don't have the trim.

The appliances they gave us is nothing but junk. Hell I couldn't sell it because it doesn't work right. The flames on the stove are hard to adjust. The refrigerator keeps adjust the temp on its own. The washer wouldn't do a decent size load and they are Whirlpool. They never came back to finish touching up the paint. We had a water leak that they fixed 6 weeks later. The only good thing is its sales. They are nice enough they tell you everything you want to hear. I've had people ask me about buying a new home and I told them to stay away from Clayton. My wife and I wanted to spend our last few years in a home we wouldn't have to worry about. But I guess our golden years are nothing but nightmares.

We were promised over and over that we would be moved into our new custom ordered manufactured home by the last week of December 2015. We didn't even sign papers to begin ordering the home and construction on the property until December 11, 2015. Our house was delivered to the property on December 2, 2016. That was after numerous changes to the floor plan because Clayton Homes kept messing the plans up. We said from day one we wanted a French door. It was delivered with a patio door. We had to fight to get the French door we wanted. We also custom ordered extra lights in both bathrooms. Both were messed up. We also ordered (and paid extra for) outlets on every exterior corner. We cannot use for much of anything without blowing a breaker.

Instead of being on their own breakers they are connected to the interior of the house. Such as entire sections, bedrooms and bathrooms, living room and hallways, kitchen and laundry rooms. Our foundation was not installed properly and now we have nothing but a house that is falling down around us. Almost all of our piers were loose within 6 months of living in it and they came and tightened them and added more bit since they have not fixed the foundation. According to the private home inspectors we have hired, it is just going to happen again. We had a crown in the living room marriage line that went away when they tightened the piers. But now we have ripples in our linoleum. The linoleum that we were told was high quality that you can't set any furniture on or it leaves a permanent dent in. Every wall has cracks in it.

The manufacturer Fleetwood sent Trent Case and his son out to do repairs. The taped and mudded a couple of the hundreds of cracks but got mad when we pointed out that they missed 99% of them. After that they just slapped some caulking over them or paint. I had already painted some rooms different colors and they just used generic paint. The house originally was on top of my custom paint even though I told them I had custom paint. They also replaced caulking that was falling off at the ridge line between wall and ceiling. They used a razor blade to cut the old stuff and just let it fall down. That included falling onto my floor, furniture, plants, and into my open turtle tank filled with water. They also had to regrout in bathrooms and kitchen. There was grout all over the tiles and the counters left for me to clean up.

Due to me being a disabled veteran we had been told beforehand that they would take care of all cleaning and moving of furniture. That was not the case. And after they left they wrote up a work order and lied to Fleetwood complaining that we would not help them with cleaning or moving furniture. The kitchen sink, bathroom faucet have not been puttied. Window sills are coming apart and windows do not close. Walls are not plumb and are shifting (due to foundation). Door trims are coming apart and doors no longer shut properly or will not open (including front door). Glass was missing out of peephole on back door. Carpet was not tacked down to tack strip and within 3 months already needed to be stretched out. We paid extra for combination smoke and carbon monoxide detectors in every room.

We now have only 1 combination alarm and the rest are just cheap smoke alarms. They have been replaced 3 times because they have been wired wrong and go off almost every night. We have not been refunded for having been given cheaper alarms. We have a metal roof. The metal is twisting and lifting up and screws are falling out due to the shifting foundation. Missing screws means empty holes to allow rain and snow and other moisture which will cause mold. They have refused to fix it. In places you can see daylight between pieces of the metals. We have never asked for more than what we paid for more. We have been met with opposition and flat out refusal and plain rudeness and nothing but a bunch of lies from day one. They promised us a dream home. Instead they gave us the worst experience of our lives and a nightmare of a house (I can't even begin to call it a home).

I purchased my home in 2015 from Price a Clayton Homes dealer located in Houma, Louisiana. It is now May of 2016. My house is now in the process of falling apart after only one year. The floor has nails coming up in just about every room in the house. The kitchen floor is bowing and has a two inch hole in it in front of the stove. The wall separating the kitchen from the master bedroom is bowing and has been "repaired" by a company that claimed to have 26 years of experience doing this type of work yet my wall is bowing out again. And when he reinstalled the light switch he wired the laundry room into the kitchen light switch on the other side of the kitchen. A second electrical company had to come out and fix that one. The cement company that he used to do the demo of the old house and to lay the new cement does not have a lic on file on the parish level nor on the state level.

The original company that came out to hook up the sewage, the lights and the air conditioning did not properly install the copper tubing and a second contractor had to come out and redo it because all of the freon leaked out in my house the first night I stayed in it. Now Price only wants to focus on the fact that this was not a true statement when I filed a complaint with the states fire marshal. Donald ** whose main concern was how I was wasting Price's time with all of this and he insisted that he had never Price before in his life yet when other homes dealers in the area were mentioned he seemed very familiar with them. Yet Price claims to have been in business for over 15 years. I find it hard to believe they have never met before yesterday which was May the 9th but he seemed to know so much about everyone else. And since that was never in question as to whether they met before he insisted on that fact 4 times.

Ever heard of Hamlet and the saying "The lady doth protest too much". Mr. ** eased Price's concerns by listing the defects in my home as cosmetic. The manufacturer sent out repair crews that were suppose to address the issue of the nails popping up and they both argued with me that it was debris, only to find out that they were in fact nails. My middle bedroom window was in a bind and Price admitted that when I showed him that the window would not open more than two inches. Price brought the mover he used out with him for the inspection and the man had to get on his knees and strain to open it. Then proceeded to show the fire marshal the window would open and it was not an issue and that is the only time the fire marshal stepped up and said it was.

The mover Zach ** claimed the window was not a fire escape in an attempt to relieve Price of his responsibility for fixing it by saying it was not a fire escape even though the sticker that was two inches from his face said it was. I showed the marshal over ten nails that were popping up and yet he said he only saw 3. And proceeded to tell me that it was better left alone because repairs of this type only make the house worse and most people regret having the issues addressed. He then claimed his house that is over 40 years old has the same issues. The walls that make up the shower in the master bathroom have had to be stapled back together twice. The shower door is unlevel. The wall that makes up the laundry room has separated so much a piece of paper can be slipped through to the other side and yet all I kept hearing was how it was withing HUD tolerance levels.

My doors are unlevel and during the morning you can see the how the gap is small on one side and larger as it gets closer to the other side. The carpet is coming unraveled in all the rooms. And this is only some of the issues I have had dealing with the person Price **. The cement company that he used for the demo was suppose to leave the power pole up but yet knock it down with their front end loader and left the pole on a pile of debris that smoked and sparked all night until I could get a hold of Entergy to do an emergency shut off before it caught it on fire. They damaged my driveway even though they were informed beforehand that driveway was weak and were told to use mats to protect it and they didn't. I finally got them back out to repair my driveway only for them to dig out the area and then leave it for over 6 weeks until I had to call and threaten to sue them to come out and fill it back in.

Then added insult to injury by offering me 400.00 dollars instead of fixing it. The men they sent out to fix it was sitting in my yard under a tree as a lightning storm was moving through so for their safety I told them they could come back the next to finish it. But that was a mistake. Now it's being said that I sent them away and would not allow them to finish. I never told them to leave my yard. I gave them option to come back the next day when it was safer for them to be out there working. They use the fact that I am poor and have vision problems against me by saying I have to get on my hands and knees to find the nails coming up out of my floor.

Government funds were spent on this house because I am disabled and needed assistance to replace my house after storm damage from hurricane Katrina and Gustav because I didn't now qualify for FEMA either time for monies for repairs even though I could not afford homeowners insurance. I waited 8 years for this house. And it is heartbreaking that Clayton Homes dealers are allowed to get away with this. Warren Buffett should be ashamed of himself doing business in this manner by taking advantage of the poor, sick and elderly. And if you review the behavior of other dealers for this man it seems they all behave in the same manner. They disrespect their customers to the point of causing them anxiety and mental anguish.

When I first submitted the request to have my walls fixed because they were separating Price's answer was to send out his maintenance man to take the molding off and scoot it over so you couldn't see it anymore. I pointed out that the wall was splaying at the bottom which this is the same wall that was repaired was just the molding yet you can see the sheet rock is not flush with the frame. I have pictures on file to show the damage.

It started peeling off the cabinets the first month! We also have electrical sockets that have pulled out of the wall and was told by Horrace that the home was not made well enough to hold them so we should use our thumbs to hold them in place when using them! Our front door leaks water inside and all of the moulding in the home is falling off the walls.

They even got the concrete piers backwards and refused to fix it! Our siding falls out even when there is just a light wind. They did not connect it completely. It had gaps and the guys who did it were very rude and told me to fix it myself! I am disabled so that was a joke! We also have no water pressure in one of the bathrooms. They said it must be an acorn in the pipes, but they would not fix it! We also had sawdust blow out of all the vents for over a year and not just a light coating! We had to call them back out because they didn't hook up the back restroom plumbing so needless to say (guess where all the mess from the toilet went?) - exactly. Then they had to come out and put on the skirting and paint it. Well it didn't match the house color as requested so they ended up painting the entire house again (including the screens). We cleaned up that mess. Then about a year and a half we began having other problems. It rained and the roof leaked, into the back bathroom down the hallway wall, down the connecting living room wall and under the floor tile. We were told to contact our insurance. It was not under warranty, because we didn't have a check up on the house after 1 year of being placed. Well you think someone could have called and reminded us? HECK NO!!

So we got that taken care of as well. Then last month we noticed water in pantry, tracked it back and the waterline for the refrigerator had been installed, in one of the cupboards beside the refrigerator one that doesn't get used a lot holds holiday dishes etc. Well when we opened the cupboard guess what had been leaking apparently for a while because the entire inside of the cupboard was covered in mold and rotting? Lovely. Our insurance said not covered because apparently they don't cover water leaks from faucets only if the leak is inside wall. And Clayton well let's just say if there was a return policy I would gladly give them back the pile of pressed wood and cardboard they sold me for 92000,00 dollars.

I purchased a 2015 Clayton Home through AMEGA Sales in Ashland, MO. I paid cash for a 28'x68', 4 bedroom, 2 bath home with 2x6 exterior walls. I informed the salesman we wanted hardwood cabinets and trim, oak cabinets, energy eff. windows and doors... interrupted mid-sentence we were told "AMEGA Sales has just what you want in our top line cookie cutter model with everything everyone wants." Well it didn't, no fireplace and no double back door. We purchased one that just arrived it was still wrapped so we didn't see much at all, people never do this.

Clayton Homes have 2x6 ext walls, but no exterior boxing, it has 1/4" foam, we can hear everything outside at night. No elect boxes for plugs or switches, and not mounted to studs, they are mounted to 3/8" sheetrock. We have pulled 4 right through the sheetrock, 4 of the light switches were broke. Sheetrock very thin and many locations seems are not secured to studs, every sheet of rock was loose.

Toilet seats are so cheap thin plastic they cave in if you sit on the lid, bathroom sink is plastic, tubs are abnormally short and very, very thin plastic, closets for not have light switches except master, bathroom has ONLY ONE receptacle, all door are out of level and alignment, exterior doors are so cheap and light weight and sprung out of shape I am replacing, furnace did not work and was told I had to find a dealer who would warrant it to get it fixed, carpet became matted after one month - very cheap, cabinets were very thin almost cardboard - I replaced all of them, kitchen sink so small and shallow water sprayed out of the plastic water fixtures all over the countertop that has no backsplash, nor do the vanities. There is not a single wall that is square, interior walls 2x3 with 1x3 top and bottom plate lumber.

The finish crew were so bad. One of the windows the sheetrock did not reach the stud so this guy shot 54 nails in the length of a window trying to make it stay in place. None of the paper trim had square cuts. They provided no base trim at the floor, trim is 1" wide and to cover errors. They just doubled and tripled trim strips. The carpet has never been seamed, I was told they don't do that - it isn't profitable. Skirting was thrown up like wrapping tape around toothpicks, no cut corners. It's warped and buckled and uneven. This crew made a huge mess all over our new home - saw dust, dirt, gravel, glue, caulking, construction material debris. We cleaned everyday - they trashed it and walked out every day.

Everything about our Clayton home from top to bottom, sales group to finish crew were so far below low in quality, craftsmanship, dependability. One would never think it possible something like this is even offered. I have NEVER in my life even seen such low quality materials, didn't know this type of cut-rate stuff were even available. I have tons of photos of this ridiculous experience my wife and I have had to deal with. If anyone would like to see, I know this is a lot but this home is so bad I got to where I had to laugh when AMEGA says, "Well we don't cover that."

NOTHING, AT ALL, I can say about this home is good. For God's sake Wal-Mart sells a toilet seat that is solid plastic you can sit on for $5.44. If you are thinking about one of these homes think about all these things I labeled above. They have to be counting on people never questioning the quality of the toilet seat so they get away with supplying the $0.79 quality seat. Stay away, don't go through this, no one deserves a disposable box like this.

I purchased a home from them last year. It took over 6 months to finally get the home on my property. The main person in charge blatantly lied to convince us to buy a home. He promised us things, such as a washer and dryer, but when it came time to sign the documents none of those things were included. My husband recorded him making the promises and told him we would sue him in court. The main guy was infuriated but eventually gave us the porch as promised but it was really a set of steps to get up to the door. We did not get the washer and dryer because they claimed there was not enough left on the loan. After everything was said and done, there was well over a $1000 not used on the loan. We also purchased the 5-year warranty. They refuse to actually abide by the warranty. We have to pretty much harass them to do anything.

The back door leaked and would open randomly all the time. They finally replaced the door after numerous failed attempts to caulk the door. The guys they sent out basically called me stupid when I told them the door would open all the time. Now water is leaking in several spots on the exterior walls on the ceiling. They claim this is "normal". There are not enough vents in this poorly made tin can to even heat the living room properly. One room's closet is basically a meat locker in the winter time. They did finish putting the cheesy trimmings in one bedroom so you can see inch wide gaps between the sheet rack. Everything in here is made of plastic or compressed cardboard. I regret immensely buying this mobile home. It's not worth it.

They delivered our home on Nov 12, 2015 and we are still waiting of them to finish the job. I really don't have anything nice to say about this process. We are still waiting on the siding to be finished along with a lot of other items. They must have forgot our phone number once the check cleared.

Bought a used 2013 when it was a year old. Love our home but they refuse to fix corner siding they broke putting home on lot. They put the home in backwards because they didn't want to level land properly so my front and back doors are reversed from all my neighbors. They didn't put new items in like they were supposed to. Put a cream color door instead of white to match other interior doors. They built a crappy storm door instead of putting a new one in to save money. They didn't seal all drywall cracks. They don't return calls. And worst of all, they didn't put our paperwork in properly to transfer title to our name. So a year after we let them know, they still haven't done it and we are in the middle of selling it. Filing next with BBB and calling the press. Do yourself a favor and find another company.

They said that was a law - it wasn't. 40 piers are under the trailer. They tore out 10 ft of waterline broke the main septic line buried 11 2x3x18 inches of concrete in our yard. We have nothing but a mud pit sink holes no water or septic. We have been trying to get help from John the manager. He offered me a flat screen TV if I would keep the trailer & he would fix everything. He got this money & is not willing to do anything.

Vanderbilt & Rick Vann are the same. They are going to help now they can't or just won't. I am going to do something am in the works. This was a perfect lot at the lake until Clayton non-contractors got a hold of it. DO NOT BELIEVE ANYONE FROM CLAYTON HOMES. THEY TELL YOU WHAT YOU WANT TO HEAR THEN THEY ALL LIE. Don't buy there. My roll-around island doesn't fit under the big island. The barn door is missing from inside. Electrical boxes are screwed, my linoleum is cut and nicked everywhere, the sheetrock is coming off the walls. The tubs and shower is cracked. Molding is gapped, broken and missing. Drapes are not here. Windows are not covered. They screwed up my property so bad that I can go fishing in the front yard when it rains now and the gravel driveway they did is not gravel.

It's ** crush and run so now every time it rains, a little more of it washes away. It's been 3 months and it's still ** up. Well I am fed up and pissed so now my lawyers can get my home and yard fixed the right way. For $130,000 it should have been right the first time. Clayton Homes can kiss my white ass. Purchased a manufactured home from Clayton mobile homes. The people at our local office were great and as helpful as possible but the home we purchased for $90,000.00 was truly a piece of crap. There was a hole in the tub, a hole in the drywall between the master bath and the laundry area you could put your fist through. Interior wall studs in some areas did not even reach the floor. The walls were out of square and floor alignment was non-existent. Cabinets were made out of some material I have never seen before and covered with a wood grain type tape. It is extremely brittle and difficult to work with. They are poorly made and will have to be replaced before long.

Both toilets were improperly installed which broke the mounting flanges and had to be replaced. Had the floor been covered in linoleum as was recommended, both toilets would have rotted out the sub floor and eventually fallen out of the home onto the pad underneath. Corners were split and cracked requiring ample amounts of caulking which required additional painting work. I was told by Clayton that the home came with a one year warranty and they would fix any problems but my feelings were this: If they cannot put it together properly, how in the world would they be qualified to repair it properly?

Exterior paint work was shoddy and I had to repaint it due to it being the wrong color as well. Local Clayton office supplied the correct paint at no cost to myself and even paid me a minimal amount to repaint the exterior and interior to remove the roller lines left by an unqualified painter. The home came without toilet paper holders, without towel holders and unfinished wood work. The baseboards, window casings, door jams and all doors had not been painted, only primed. Again, the Clayton dealer supplied the paint for me to do the work myself.

The carpet that was supplied with the home could not have been cheaper and was not installed at our request so we could install laminated flooring. Both baths and laundry area were also unfinished at our request so tile could be installed. (I have been a contractor for over thirty years and while being amply qualified to do construction and restoration work, I can honestly say I have never seen such shoddy and unprofessional construction.) Trim work for the paper-like cabinets was not installed but supplied by the Clayton dealer at my request since it is not considered to be standard but optional if demanded.

Windows, doors, bathtubs and showers were left un-caulked with the explanation being their design did not require waterproofing which is a total crock. To add insult to injury, even the mini-blinds that were installed at the factory in Chandler, AZ were not evenly placed in the windows and have to be re-hung. Door casings were out of plumb, weather stripping was improperly installed and sub-floor was uneven in many areas. I can honestly say if I had it to do over again, I wouldn't.

My wife was in tears and it took me eleven and a half weeks to correct the screw ups in this double wide manufactured abortion of a home. I feel the manufacturers of this home should cut me a check for about $45,000.00 since I feel as though I paid twice what it was worth. I want to make two things very clear about this lengthy complaint. One: The dealer here in Snowflake could not have done anything more to try and be helpful and correct my complaints. I have no complaints about them what-so-ever. Two: I have no complaints about Vanderbilt mortgage company. Their interest rate is about twice what it should have been, but banks and loan companies wanted my property as collateral and that was not going to happen. They have been helpful, informative and worked with me to my satisfaction.

My anger and frustration is with the so-called manufacturing of the home itself. I would never, ever recommend the purchase of a Schult mobile home.... not even to someone I truly disliked. On a scale of one to ten, I would give them a score of NEGATIVE 20. If anyone wants to challenge what I have said here, be advised I took many, many photos of the situation and have several people who would testify UNDER OATH about everything stated here.

We started the home buying process in May 2015 and we signed our closing paperwork on September 1st. We were told it would take 60 days at the latest to be moved into our home. We are now in November and we have already made a mortgage payment and still not in our home. Vanderbilt mortgage was our only option because of our student loan payments and debt to income being too high for traditional mortgage loans. We have gotten very poor communication from Clayton Homes of Ridgeway VA. I have had to call and email every week to get updates because there is no follow up on what is going on.

After calling and emailing every day in October, we were finally told the code to get into the home with the lockbox on the front door. When I asked about the painting that was being done on the inside that looked like my 5 year old could have done better, I was given the excuse that they were waiting on power to see everything to do the touch ups. We heard earlier this week power would be done by the end of the week to find out the wiring had been done by the electrician and still couldn't be completed. Then Clayton tried to say we are the ones that told them to wire everything that way.

Last time I checked, I wasn't an electrician and this is the first time we are purchasing a home therefore I wouldn't know what to do in regards to the wiring. Met with the guy from Appalachian Power this morning and his response is "I can put in the work order, but it will probably be after Thanksgiving before you get into your home." This is unacceptable. We are now paying for rent and a mortgage because we can't get in our home without power. WHATEVER YOU DO, DON'T USE CLAYTON HOMES IF YOU CAN. AVOID THEM. THEY LIE AND THEN TRY TO BLAME YOU...

My husband and I started to buy a home from Clayton Homes in Elko, NV. We told the salesperson and office manager up front how important it was for us to know where our property lines were as we had a bad experience in Oklahoma that same month. The property we tried to buy there was encroaching on property next door by 12 feet. We could not stress how very important this was to us. We told them they need to be marked. We were ensured by Katie office manager that they would mark them for us. They have never marked even though we have talk to her about this numerous and she would always tell us she was getting it done. Here it is, November, and we still do not know where our property lines are. Also, she has talk down to me several times. Told us when our house would be ready. Wasn't ready until a month later.

Cost us more money for all the delays. Lied to us about so much. Has not finished our landscaping which she keep saying would be done that week every time I talk to her. I would wait a week or 2 then call her again. Same story it will all be done this week. Not done. Last time I talk to her about Landscaping and property lines her statement to me was "I am trying. Don't you think I am damn tired of you calling me about this every day." I didn't call her every day. This person doesn't know how to talk to people.

I would never buy from Clayton Homes again and would tell everyone not to buy from them as I have talk to everyone in Company I can and no one is will to stand up for us on this. Her boss Damon is no help either. This was suppose to be a new beginning for me and my husband as we have been through in last year. Katie has taken all the joy of buying this home for us.

We purchased a 2014 model home from Clayton Homes of Grand Junction CO. We were supposed to be moved in in December of 2014. The home was not completed until July 2015. Clayton Homes of Grand Junction has failed to honor their warranty. They are very rude dishonest and untrustworthy. We had an electrical issue to the extent that it burnt up 2 TVs, a new kitchen mixer, and a large air compressor. Their disposition after the 2 electricians told them it was because of faulty wiring is that it is not their fault nor responsibility. If that weren't bad enough our children burnt their hands on a light switch because it became excessively hot. It took involving the manufacturer to get any resolve.

According to the state inspector, the foundation is incorrect, which is why in just 4 months the different halves of our homes are unlevel, doors won't open without screwdrivers, the drywall cracks ceiling to floor overnight, and the foundation itself is coming apart. Not to mention the floors are raising at the joints in the subflooring. Exterior and interior walls are shifting learning in/out. Clayton Homes of Grand Junction has done nothing but dismiss the issues their own contractors have attested to. Dream home my butt more like nightmare from hell.

We are in the process of suing them but would be interested in filing a class action suit. To sum it up quickly electrical issues, sewage issues and leaks, water line leaks, damaged cabinets, damaged flooring, shifting moving walls, excessive drywall cracking, inoperable doors, non-functioning electrical outlets, an inappropriate deteriorating foundation, and more lies than in politics in less than 4 months. Why would anyone want to buy this kind of headache?

When I went to remove the first shingle, I noticed that there was no "Felt" installed between the Shingles and roof sheathing. No wonder the roof was leaking... When enough tabs blew-off, the water went straight to the plywood (chipboard) and right into the home. When I called Clayton to ask if they would help, they said “Sorry... It's out of warranty.” They did admit there should have been paper under the shingles, but refused to help me in anyway. Thanks for nothing Clayton. I bought my Clayton home from CA based factory DBA Karsten Homes otherwise inc under CMH Manufacturing, Dealer DBA Woodcrest Homes under McDougall Weiner Inc. Purchase date: Sept. 18,2014. My nightmare began with the realization that things were just not right from the get go. Rattling floors, heating duct making banging noises, ceiling and wall cracks all over the house. Truly a drywall mess throughout. Window taking in water, kitchen cabinets doors hung crooked, door knobs loose. That was the first report then the cracks got worse and I found more. I am told by the dealer that it was settling. Well there are no settling cracks which are at doors and windows. The corners are cracking, the ceiling was not joined and evenly textured, the paint isn't even sprayed evenly.

Then I noticed nails coming out of my siding. This ended up being a wildland fire code violation because there was no caulking and the nails coming out or nailed improperly. Even the siding was not attracted to stud in places. All of you out there inspect your homes for siding and trim installation codes violations. The manufacturer and dealer/installer got ugly with me when pushed to repair according to my knowledge and in reference to siding manufacturer guidelines. They pulled up stacks and invited me to file a claim with State department of Housing. What a joke that was. The man from the state was arrogant, argumentative and cited the fire code violation but would not address the entire complaint. Even excluded the exterior trim from repair and installation guideline. Now he says I have to file another complaint! Ughhh!

The state is not helpful and they are supposed to be a consumer advocate! Well folks it is the other way around! I even had a local attorney tell me that his experience with the inspectors in Northern CA is very frustrating for him as well. He said if in the Bay Area it would be different things get done! So here I am with a half assed siding repair splotchy paint job, floors still rattling, sink leaks, plastic seal under the home with cut-outs not sealed. Windows starting to warp because there are no gutters. In this El Nino year we could get 40 in of rain! Huh a house in the mountains with no gutters. The water just pours into the windows as there is barely a overhang. My carpets are worse. Get this I was told to hit it with a hammer Lol! Really? This home is a money pit in it first year! My wood deck to the front is even falling apart with tremendous cracks in all the deck boards and posts are splitting in half!

I am so upset! I bought this house for $77,000 a HUD price! I am grateful for a roof over my head as my situation was homeless for 3 years. I am disabled at 60 wanting this home to be the place to be until I could not care for myself any longer. On a fixed income I have tearful days wondering if I will be able to afford this disposable home I bought. Karsten/Clayton and Woodcrest Home should be ashamed of themselves. HUD and the State of California should be too for that matter because there is no oversight to the lack of standard and the corner cutting this company does.

If there is a lawsuit out there let me in on it. Class action is warranted for us all! I continue to fight and for my right to have this home not fall apart anytime soon. This is not only my home in the park but a string of them installed last year. All of us have many of the same issues. One for sure is the siding installation not within the wildland fire code. Who inspected these homes? I want to know. This person is culpable too I should think. In my opinion they are all on the take benefiting from a HUD contract and getting away with substandard homes sold to low income!

Is there another solution other than just accept. I AM HERE TO TELL EVERYONE PLEASE DON'T BUY FROM CLAYTON'S.

The quality of the mobile home is poor. I have been in tree houses that were built better. You would think that being built in a climate controlled factory that the workmanship would be superb, that is not the case at all. Walls are uneven, molding is falling off, glue on the walls, walls are not square, gaps in the cabinets where they don't line up with the walls, faucets are plastic, gaps in the molding, the drop in tub is set in crooked, batten strips are not straight, holes in the siding, etc. The contractors that they use do very sub par work. Save yourself the thousands and do the work yourself, because you will be spending the money to redo it anyway.

Please learn from my experience and DO NOT BUY A CLAYTON HOME. I had never owned a mobile home but until building thought it would be my best option so bought some land and a brand new double wide from Clayton Homes in Fayetteville NC. Problems from day one: floor, ceiling cracks, trim missing, siding warped... Okay so new homes are going to have problems upon initial inspection BUT the repairs should be done in a timely manner and not over 2 years later. My phone calls went unresponded to. My kitchen cabinets and counters started warping after my home was only 5 months old. I was told that the condensation from cooking caused it! I am sorry but I do not know how to cook without causing some steam nor washing dishes without getting some water on the counters.

Now, 2 1/2 years later my ceiling is leaking, black mold is growing in my a/c closet, and everyday a piece of trim is falling off and the ceiling cracks are migrating. I want the 3 walls in the a/c closet replaced (because of mushy black mold) but am being told that condensation is the cause and thus not covered under my extended warranty. A/C condensation is not my fault and the walls should be equipped to handle the moisture. No one has come to assess the ceiling leak but I am being told that the roof is not covered under the warranty because it is not structural(?). Clayton Homes quality is substandard. Maybe I just got a dud, but if I were you I would not chance it. Go with another brand of home.

It upset us and we felt defeated... then we decided that we would apply for the loan and just see. Well let's start by I had to call and harass them to get the loan application faxed to me and I spent days remodeling submitting forms I already submitted.

Comega to find out we were approved and with a resonance amount down. We were so excited. All to find out that what we were told we were approved for actually ended up not really being approved we submitted everything got numbers and then were told after we received email from loan agency our figures, that we weren't approved. We lost our land and was also listing our house for sale and had to stop that as well. I was most frustrated with the fact I left messages and never received a call back as well as expressing how I felt through email.

It has since been weeks now - never got anything back... not even a sorry for crushing your family's dreams. I thought they were rude and spent more time smoking than taking care of issues. Extremely mad but after reading game these reviews on the quality and customer service, I have to say this is the best thing that could have happened for us. Clayton sold us a home in 2007. Nothing but problems ever since. We were charged for foundation work. We have no foundation. They lied to us saying we could SRT up in town on property we owned. They didn't check with the city. I asked if they had. The manager said they had. They had not. So we set up in the county on land my father owns. Now we have to pay him rent.

Additionally, the house was cheaply made. I have a cupboard that barely opens. The stove is in the way. The stove doesn't go back fat enough because the gas line wasn't installed properly. The doors don't shut right and have to be readjusted frequently due to shifting. Did I mention there's no foundation? The only swamp cooler vent blows directly over the only place for a kitchen table. The cupboards will peel if you look at them wrong. OK that's an exaggeration, but scotch tape does the trick. The carpets have rolls. The floors squeak horribly. There's a distinct slope in the main room. The center strip where the two sections go together has had to be creatively reattached. etc., etc. I can't sell or refinance. I don't have money to sue. Don't know what to do.

My Clayton home is the biggest "piece of **" ANYTHING, that I have ever spent my hard earned money on. You'd think that in a factory setting the quality could be superb. They have been doing this a long time and should have it perfected. The quality of materials is less than adequate. The floor joists have a camber making the center of the floor higher than the outside walls. Some walls have a bow. The roof or walls leak during a rain and then they don't during the next rain. I haven't figured out exactly how the water is getting in. The short wall next to the refrigerator was sunk into the floor. Had no brace between floor joists to support it. Had a panel pull off of the laundry room door before the house was even set up. Turns out the nails were too short.

The service guy spent two whole days out here leveling and correcting things that were missed at the factory. I understand it is a $40k manufactured home, but like I said it is built in a factory and should have better quality. The linoleum floor is not even glued down. I can step out of the shower and with damp feet the floor will stick to my feet and when I lift my foot the flooring comes up. So many things are crooked and it seems the house was just thrown together. There are humps in the floor and new ones that just appeared after 2 years. I could go on and on, but I think anyone reading this or anyone who has wasted their money on a Clayton POS knows what else I could say. If you have to buy a mobile or manufactured home don't buy a Clayton. I should have bought a Solitaire.

We just purchased a new home at the end of March 2015 with Clayton Homes of Anniston Alabama. At first they did everything they could to help get us financed. Even went above and beyond expectations, but that's where it stops. After they get your contract signed, they start dragging around and not fulfilling promises they made and even things that are legally supposed to be done. And when you call, they avoid your calls and never bother to call you back. We are very angry and are pursuing legal action against them. They set our home up the first week of April, it had been raining and was extremely muddy.

To start with, the land clearing wasn't done the way we wanted it done and home not set up where we wanted it placed either. Then the pad wasn't done correctly, it is supposed to slope away from the home on all four sides and the spot be built up but instead they left the front sloping down right to the home which made the home like down in a hole so to speak and did not slope the sides at all. The back is the only part that is sloped correctly. The state inspector didn't even pass it, said they had to fix if first and then they didn't even come back to fix it for 2 months. Then all the man did was push the dirt around and make it worse so still not fixed and these morons swear it's right and refuse to do anymore to it. To this day to our knowledge, the state inspector still hasn't passed it but they swear it passed but the inspector himself told us it was wrong. But these fools done threw up the underpinning and so called porches.

Then there's the matter of the home itself... It's not even put together right. It's a double wide and they put it together crooked and don't want to get off their lazy butts and fix that either. And when the guy from the manufacturer came to fix what he could do the internal damages they caused during the delivery and set up, he verified that it was in fact put together crooked and that it was the dealership's responsibility to fix. We have only had it 2 and a half months and walls are cracking, floors popping up, walls pulling up from floor. Man said it would only get worse if not fixed, will not be livable in a few years and this is a brand new home with a 947.31 a month mortgage for 23 years we are talking about here and they don't give a ** enough to come fix it. They lie, a sales person was suppose to be taken off our case because of obscene jester, and she was not. They say they do quality work, there is not. If a professional did the tiles in the bathroom, it does not look like it. They just do things to get things done. We are probably the only customers who have not let things go. We have had to order doors three times. They do not listen, oh they make you think they are listening. They hurry up to do things so you can not change things.

My husband has a bad heart, the stress is over the top. We remodeled three houses, we never fought like this. We spaded. It was a fight with them right from the beginning. We would tell her we did not want something then we found out it was ordered anyway. Well we did not let it go. People need to speak up. Stop letting things go. There is something wrong with the way they do business. The sales lady three times paid for the mistakes she made in ordering, that seems to put up a red flag. She said she paid for things, that was only to cover her butt. She knows she did wrong and she was not going to get away with it with us.

For 42 years I made a list of what I wanted when my husband retired. They threw the list away. That should have been a red flag. Our contractor who delivered the house is wanting to not do anymore work for them. They delivered the house the second week of November. We have only been in for a month. Things did not ever seem to get done, everything kept going wrong, and had to reorder different products. I have a lot more to say. If you want to get what you want in a house, do not get a manufacture home.

I see a lot of bad reviews and my heart goes out to those people but I purchased my home luckily from one of the good locations in Rock Hill, SC. Me and my husband have always wanted our own home. Our rent was about to go up again, we have animals so it's hard to find other options, my company had moved to a location further away, and I really wanted a place to start a family. I have bad credit from when I was younger and had my identity stolen by a family member. My husband has good credit but is self employed. I found that I could get approved at Clayton. We came in and filled out an application. I saw two models before making a decision. We found out we only qualified for enough to buy the home and we had no land. The lady put us in contact with a man who works to sell land through a loan they create so our credit didn't matter.

We found a one acre piece in the middle of nowhere already developed and signed for it. Clayton did take a check as a deposit from us before we signed for the house but they didn't cash it. We were waiting in the loan to go through. There were some hoops with the loan because my husband was self employed but in the end the entire process took two months. We closed on the house in March and by April it had been delivered. The home we bought came with dry wall in some of the rooms. It wasn't an option to get it in other areas but our sales associate called to ask anyway and got it for us.

After we moved in we had some issues. We had the faucet head come off because the water pressure was too high, they replaced it. Our door wasn't properly aligned in the beginning, they fixed it. Our key didn't work, they gave us a master key to use until they replaced it. Our toilet seat broke because it's made with the cheapest material, they fixed it. Our septic backed up, they came out made sure it wasn't the plumbing and then told us to contact the man that they had recommended to buy our land from and he came out and fixed it. The issue was our pipe had been pushed out of alignment with the septic hole and it only had a small space to drain. This was all for free no hassle, no heavy paper work, just a simple phone call.

Our one year warranty just ended with them and I'm having issues with my fridge which technically falls under the manufacturer anyways but I called them to see what they recommended and were able to check that I had the extended warranty and provided me the contact information and told me to call back if I had any issues. They have been so nice and helpful. The only con to purchasing from them is the high interest rate and it's hard to get manufacturing homes refinanced. That's it. Since this is going to be our forever home though, the high interest while annoying isn't one I'm worried about for getting a return on my investment.

For the last 6 years, we have happily rented a home while raising our family and working to repair credit. Recently our home was sold and because we were on a month to month, our new landlord decided he wanted use of the property. Meaning we have to move. Renting another home in the Denver area is not an option because the market is crazy. We simply can't afford it. Buying is our only option, but with OK credit and a minimal down payment, my husband and I decided to look into buying a mobile home. The idea of living in a brand new home that we could create from scratch was very appealing. We barely made it past the application process before I backed out.

I could tell from the start that the sales team and management at Clayton Homes of Denver was out to screw us. It started out with them taking a deposit check from us that they weren't supposed to cash until the paperwork was final. Several times the salesman stated the check was a good faith gesture to show the finance company we were serious. The check would be held and not cashed until the sale was completed. 2 days later they cashed that checked. I immediately demanded my money back and was denied. My request was brushed off completely. The salesman simply stated that "corporate office" asked them to cash all held checks and if we didn't go through with the purchase, all money was refundable. We decided at that point to do more research on Clayton and needless to say, we weren't impressed with what we found.

Over the next several days we made many more attempts to contact the salesman and GM about our money. No answers and no returned calls. I finally found a number for an organization equivalent to the BBB specifically for mobile homes. 24 hours after contacting them, my money was returned. Not refunded to my account, but in the form of a check. I also found out that in 1996 the state of Colorado passed a law to protect mobile home buyers because Clayton Homes was waiting 3 and sometimes 4 months to deliver homes while still charging mortgage payments. So the law prevents companies from collecting before mobile homes are delivered and setup completely. I'm lucky to have gotten away but I'm sick that this company on a daily basis, robs families of everything. Money, home, quality of life. Shame on you Clayton Homes.

I purchased my home off the lot in 2009. It is completely paid off. The "affiliate" I got it through came in a few times to "fix" loose places in the flooring and a massive leak where they installed the shower wrong. I was happy with it until the spots they "fixed" broke through. I now have a huge hole in my kitchen floor (my friend has fallen through it) and several weak spots throughout the house. I tried reaching the affiliate (Freedom Homes, Nitro WV) but they magically disappeared. My home is now unsafe and has never been signed off for the final walk through. Idk what to do.

Mold, warping of doors and window leaks. Skirting issues, major appliances like Furnace and Hot water heating. It's not fair especially when you purchase it from Clayton Estates at the time.

It now own by Palmetto Palms YES community in Columbia SC is where I live and they have people to help assist with these type of repairs and they are telling you it's not their responsible but they will leave a majesty letter on your door if you have not paid the Mortgage or late on Lot Rent. I even had a flood with my Hot Water heater and my insurance cut me a check how about I could not cash it to fix my flood. I was told by Palmetto Palms they wrote it out to the lien holder and they stated I had to put it towards my mortgage because payment instead. How can I fix anything if any check I receive has to go to Palmetto Palms.

We bought our home from Clayton Homes at the end of 2014. We had ours built custom and was initially very happy with the house. As anyone, we were extremely happy to live in a brand new home! For the most part we love our home. I have to admit, I really wish the cupboards were better quality. For the amount of money we put down and the amount of money we are going to pay, I am very disappointed in the quality. Cheap pressed wood with stain colored sticker covering. Same with the indoor trimming. The paint on the inside is a little thin too. I've already had to do touch ups but Clayton Homes has provided the leftover paint.

I absolutely love my granite counters. They did a wonderful job finding the right granite. I love the colors we picked out. Matches all of my furniture to the T! I love the look of the outside of the house as well and the skirting around the bottom. They made it look like a stick built home on a concrete foundation. The maintenance guy has come out a few times for little things like settling cracks and floor squeaking which is normal for the settling in the first few months. He was wonderful at fixing everything.

The ladies at the Clayton Homes office on Austin hwy have been absolutely amazing! They have gone above and beyond with everything through the whole process! They have helped our dreams come true and am very grateful for them. I would definitely buy another Home from Clayton Homes with upgraded cupboards and indoor trim. Other than those few things, I'm satisfied.

I bought a 2008 Clayton Home in November of 2008. The ceilings have cracked since the day it was delivered and are only cracking more deeply now. The ceilings have been repaired twice already. The roof has slopes and dips in it like a skateboard ramp. In October of 2014 I noticed a nasty, fuzzy black and green mold growing above the window in the spare bedroom. There is a fuzzy white mold growing in my master bed closet now too. My front door is warped and my screen door was leaking. I replaced the screen door and now the entire door frame is moldy, deeply cracked, warped and does not seal tightly.

Mold grows on the back door. The cabinets began peeling in the first year. The floor in front of my door and by my laundry room makes sounds like it is going to fall through at any moment when you walk across it. The GE stove that came in the mobile home always got too hot and would burn food even on a low setting. The burner went out twice and I paid to have it repaired twice. I finally bought a new one last year when it finally quit working. I have had to replace the thermostat, the microwave has had to have a new "brain" and my dishwasher is so cheap that all the prongs on the bottom rack have burned off within the first year and my water is not even turned up high! I am so disgusted with this home that the thought of having to pay the rest of the $40,000.00 loan for the upgraded single wide piece of junk makes me nauseous.

I had to replace all of the faucets in my home because the one in my son's bathroom burst and sprayed everywhere! My fiance and I are hard working people with blue collar jobs who decided to buy a brand new mobile home to try and avoid these problems at least until the home had some age on it, anyway! At 5 years old my home is literally falling apart! I am afraid of what my home will look like in 5 more years... I know I will be living on the street by then because at least it will be safer! Vanderbilt Mortgage owns the home until it is paid off and I can tell you now that they do not care about the customers, they only want that payment!

Vanderbilt Mortgage Company is the greediest bunch of low life scum on the planet and I am not paying one more dime out of my pocket to pay for repairs I did not cause! My insurance company said that I should have installed gutters to stop the seal from leaking and causing mold... that is the biggest load of b.s. and they know it! I would like to know how they expected me to keep my roof from becoming a skateboard ramp??? Manufacturing companies need to be held accountable for making faulty products that are ridiculously overpriced and falling apart... and mortgage companies need to realize that it is their responsibility also to help make sure that the products that they own until paid off need to be repaired and they need to take action as well.

My wife and I purchased a Clayton Home in Summer of 2009 and it's been a complete nightmare and money sink. Since my wife wanted specific options, the home had to be manufactured for us instead of taking one "off the lot". This was done at the Fayetteville, NC manufacturing plant, according to our documentation.

When the home arrived and installed in the manufactured home lot, problems immediately became apparent. Over the next three to six months, we had to constantly call Clayton to come out and address a myriad of problems, big and small, while under warranty. Here's but a short list of SOME of the issues the supposedly finished home had upon receipt:

    - Multiple electrical outlets were installed but not connected.
    - Bathroom plumbing fixtures (including both toilets) leaked uncontrollably.
    - Decorative moulding wasn't installed in the living room/kitchen area.
    - Both outdoor light switch fixtures were installed upside down (down: on; up: off).
    - The living room carpet was not nailed down where it met the kitchen or front bathroom vinyl flooring.

    - Two windows were left only partially sealed.

After four months, further calls for issues to be addressed were outright ignored. For the remainder of the warranty year, we were constantly shuffled around various offices as Clayton deflected addressing other shoddy manufacturing issues. Two months after the one year warranty expired, two of our kitchen GFCI outlets stopped working, requiring a visit from an electrician. The electrician found significant water penetration coming in from the vinyl siding and roof. Also that year, we had to fully charge the coolant in our air conditioner system. The HVAC technician said it was likely they simply never fully charged the unit upon installation, a problem the technician said he had seen before.

In the second year, we once again had no coolant charge in our AC unit. The same HVAC technician was called and he ran a series of tests only to discover there was a significant leak (or leaks) in the system. This required us to completely replace the air conditioner's a-coil. Also in that year, our GE freezer's ice maker completely ceased working and the GE dishwasher's impeller motor broke.

Year three was the year of mold in the windows and spending months trying to determine how widespread the mold had become. It's now been five years since purchase we've had to put another $7k of repair money - well over a tenth of the price of the single wide we purchased - into the home. Clayton bailed on their warranty responsibility and left us holding the bag. If anyone is considering a Clayton Home, don't waste your money. Look into other options first. A neighbor bought a Fleetwood Home 6 months after we bought our Clayton and they haven't had a single issue outside of a problem with the contract home installers running over their lot's water pipe. Clayton sells garbage that's engineered to break after their one year limited warranty expires.

We bought a Clayton home a year and a half ago. It was a huge purchase for us. We put our property up as collateral. We have had so many issues. The trailer is actually not level. The skirting is 7" short in spots. The walls are dinged. The cabinets are coming apart. The doors won't stay open. The carpet has pieces of wood or some kind of lumps of trash under it, so bad you feel it under your feet when you walk over it. Window leaking. Shower door not closing and causing leaking. Trim coming off around the doors. We called and called during our first year under warranty. They would take weeks to come out, and then offered us quick fixes that are not holding up.

I feel like my home is falling apart before my eyes, and we have run out of warranty. They ignore calls. Never call back. I'm so upset. I would like to sue them for the cost of this monstrosity that I will have to forever repair! Is that possible? I'm really just done dealing with these rude people. The salesman told us trailers are not like they use to be, that old junk is a thing of the past. One or our last phone calls we were told, "You bought a trailer, what do you expect?" SERIOUSLY? I expect $80,000.00 to buy me something that won't fall to pieces in one year.

Clayton homes are a prefab cheapest quality material they can find. I ask for the vents to be as close to the walls as possible but they did not do that cause it is all figured up to run in a straight line. I also had 2 extra windows install: 1 in the hall & 1 in the bathroom... I was told they had 3 people that performed quality checks.

Well they left the window out of the bathroom, all 3 missed it. Then when they came & installed it they put a small window in for the same price as the big window in the hall. So I had them redo it. The toilets, Tubs are the cheapest they could get.

Once they deliver the trailer, they apparently don't check the plumbing because I had water running out of the pipes inside the walls due to connections being loose. Also my itemized list for the trailer said no entertainment center in the master bedroom but there is one. Again all 3 inspectors missed that part too. If you try to go with more than 3 color schemes they want to charge extra. They can't promise to cut the linoleum floor & go from wood grain to tile look & keep the joints butted up so that there is only a small strip covering where they join.

They have never contacted me to see what I thought about the workmanship or the quality of the trailer. They piece together the molding when one 8' piece would have looked better there may be 2 or 3 pieces covering an 8' section. They are trying to use every scrap they can to save. Then most of the molding will pop loose due it is no even nailed to a stud... It proves they really don't care, it is based on how many they can produce & sale as quick as possible. It is a never ending job fixing things that keep popping loose.

The floor plan of our home from their Wimbledon line is the only good thing about this house. Wimbledon is supposed to be higher end, but all of the components are cheap, cheap, cheap. One of the bathrooms had to be redone entirely within weeks of moving in because a pipe behind the wall and been installed incorrectly and burst, leaking under the floor and into the crawl space, destroying some ornaments. The kitchen sink and all the fixtures are cheap plastic. In fact, the sink was scratched before we even moved in. The caulking around bathrooms sinks is brown, looking like a children's crayon did it. The wood flooring is also cheap. The master bedroom window was installed incorrectly and had to be redone. It took months to get that resolved. The roof has already had to be repaired. The front porch gathers mounds of water, which is in turn very unsafe in icy weather. I could go on and on. Don't walk away... run away from Clayton/Wimbledon homes. You will not get your money's worth and your home will look old before it is even a few months old.

We purchased a lot display home to go into a Senior Citizen retirement community on our dream lot. I knew that because it was a lot display that it would not be "perfect". I expected a few scuffed walls, and that the carpets would need to be cleaned. The home was moved and we saw it 10 days later. It actually appears that the home was dropped, however the sales manager swears that is not the case. Neighbors have told us they moved it in and were gone in about an hour. The entire master bath is shambles, major ceiling cracks, broken vinyl, siding, missing furniture are just a few of the issues. We were also suppose to have a gas range, a/c and door installed between master bedroom and bath. None have been addressed. We have been told the weather prohibited repairs... I understand that for the outside but not the inside. Communication is almost non-existent. It is my understanding that Clayton is now owned by Berkshire Hathaway... Something for Warren Buffett to be proud of based upon all of the reviews I am reading. My next phone call is the corporate office and an attorney.

We are involved in a legal claim against Clayton Homes. We've had 6 vents on our roof leaking. Our 1st reported leak was 5 days into our custom built home. They supposedly fixed the problem. It has only progressively gotten worse. Our mold inspector & every contractor or roofer we speak to says it's a manufacturing issue. Homeowners insurance won't do anything. They & Vanderbilt are owned by the same company that owns Clayton Homes. We have 4 molds & 3 are toxic, including stachybotrys (black toxic mold) resulting in all 5 family members & animals being very ill. One animal has passed. We've lost everything we own due to the mycotoxins of the stachybotrys.

Clayton Homes is claiming it's our fault because homeowners are to caulk their vents yearly & claim it's in the manual. It in fact is not in the manual. The only reason there are no class action lawsuits despite over a dozen websites of Clayton Homes manufacturing problems is that they have you sign an arbitration clause upon closing. I strongly urge any persons with manufacturing issues to contact a lawyer immediately. There are time frame laws concerning manufacturing problems. This is a rotten company that preys off of the working middle to lower middle class in hopes to become richer at the cost of people's lives. This has got to stop! People's health are being affected by their poor standards.

When asking questions, one of my questions were "Will I be able to do any deferments if I fell behind on payments?" I was told I would. After paperwork signed my trailer was moved to the lot where I would be living. It was winter time. It took them 2 weeks to put my skirting on. Plus who ever hooked up my water to the toilet had it backwards. Hot water was coming out of the toilet. Also took 2 weeks to fix. Lived in my home 3 years, I came into some financial problems. Fell behind on my payments. When I call the loan company that I was financed through to get a deferment I was told that they do not give those and that I was informed incorrectly. I lost my home and my credit is shot.

The mobile home my son bought brand new almost two years ago is so cheaply made that it is falling apart. Everything in it is some sort of plastic stuff. The sink drains to the faucets, the trim on the walls, the counter tops and trim, the cabinets, the list goes on. The cabinet doors are pushed on these tabs. No matter how gently you close them, they fall off. The stain on the kitchen doors is coming off and bubbling up. The trim around the counter top has popped off, the trim on the walls is popping off, the vents in the floor are plastic. Three of them are broke. They put the vents where you have to walk on them.

The appliances are a joke. I didn't know they even made cheap stuff like it! The linoleum in the kitchen is bubbly and thin. They tore a place in it when they put it down and rubbed some glue on it. The carpet is a joke. It is the cheapest thinnest thing I have ever seen, there is no padding under it??? The front door is crooked, has been from the start. The list just goes on and on. How do these even pass inspection? The state came out to inspect everything else. Why don't they inspect these fall apart homes???

We kept calling Clayton, they sent this guy out to fix the molding around the bar that popped off. He put glue on it and before he got out of the driveway it popped off. He left glue all over the counter top to boot! I don't even want to tell you about Vanderbilt. They are crooks too... The same as all of the rest of you on this page except he has never missed a payment, but they raised his payment because of their mistake on paying the taxes (first year they paid out of escrow to the right county but the second year they said they sent it to the neighboring county). Now who's fault is that?

They are trying to make him keep their insurance company too! I for one am turning them into BBB, our congressman and whoever else I can come up with. I might even go up to Clayton and picket them... I will be looking into this some more. I wish my son had told me sooner. I will be updating so please come and look again...

Bought a 2000 Clayton home from a dealer as a repo in '05. As a single, sole supporting parent without the best credit record, this was the most affordable, and basically, the only option for me in providing a home for my daughter. I've got less than 3k to pay on this overpriced (30k) heap of junk and I'm left with soft floors that I'm sure to fall through at any moment, a kitchen ceiling through which rain will sometimes just pour, and numerous other issues. These people prey on the working poor. I've dumped everything I earn into keeping a house and an automobile and have nothing to show for it but a decaying heap as far as the home is concerned, which I am forced to live in for lack of available funds to make improvements or purchase a better home. I know how it is to be forced into this option, but if you have any other possibilities, I'd steer clear of buying a mobile home.

The first winter we experienced that the windows sweat terribly bad leaving mildew and mold. We have had to replace the hot water heater due to leaks that had rusted and pitted the pipes. We have multiple electrical issues. The carpet has worn holes around the front door due to poor grade carpet. The trim has came off my wainscoting in the living room due to be put on with cheap staples. The trimming around the counter tops are coming unglued. I bought a 2005 Clayton homes new. I put up my property for collateral. They sent their assessor out to approve my property. They said I had no easement problem. And now in 2014 a new neighbor bought the surrounding property and instantly started threatening to close the only access to both properties, the only access to my property period. Threatened to shoot me for leaving my home or trying to come home. For almost a year this has been going on. I called the local sheriff department several times and was told it is his property and he can do what he wants. Then I find out Clayton homes did not file legal implied easement so I have been blocked onto my property at times, locked out at other times. Emergency help, fire ambulance etc has been blocked.

I have had to borrow 5000 dollars to hire an attorney to sue this man. I am disabled and handicapped. I have no money. So I have had to buy another easement for 2500 just to be able to leave my home. Now I have to build a road in a lot of sand. It is going to cost me thousands more dollars to do that. Clayton homes did pay to have the new easement surveyed, I thank them for that. But I am scheduled to have a total knee replacement in September, my second one and I am having to delay it and suffer in a lot of pain until I can get thousands of dollars to build a new road. So I can have this surgery and my home health workers can come and care for me. In all fairness Clayton homes should repay all of these horrendous expenses and build me a road since their assessor approved the implied easement and did not file it legally.

Then, conveniently, our floors in the kitchen have soft spots all over. They said I have a water leak or didn't clean up a spill. Yeah, right, if it was a spill I would definitely clean that up. They are supposed to send the handy man out tomorrow, but we are out of our warranty and the manufacturer said that they won't do anything about it. I am here to ask anyone if they are having similar issues? I feel these homes are junk and were poorly made! I want to file a class action lawsuit, because we put a lot down and pay an ungodly amount for our mortgage to be having problems when the house is this new.
