I had a great experience with Clayton Homes. I live in Kentucky, but then, this home is something that we put on the lake over there in Tennessee. In that area, the company that I work for sells them some stuff, and then, I've also got a friend that bought one too that put me on this particular dealership. I've looked around several places, but Chris, their salesman in Rogersville, was excellent. He did a great job and he didn't push me. If I had a question, he'd answer it. Otherwise, he just left me alone, and that was the way I like it. We got out and run around, and found the home that we wanted. We actually found one that we liked in Kentucky, and they had one on the lot in Rogersville. They broke things down for me and gave me my options on how I needed to do it. What little problems we had, they fixed them right off the bat. Clayton at Rogersville is an awesome place and I'd recommend them.
We're so thrilled to read your review, Ernie! Thank you for taking the time to let us know that everything went so smoothly for you. It's great to know that you enjoyed working with Chris, too! We'll be sure to let his team know! It sounds like you've put the home in a great location on the lake, and we know you'll be enjoying it for years to come! Congratulations!

We liked, first of all, that with Clayton Homes we didn't have to carry the loan from the beginning and we could just get a conventional loan instead of a construction loan. Also, the house that we picked was a really good buy. We have two kids and it was nice to be able to have a house that is big enough and reasonable.
We started out with the Clayton Homes in Chino Valley, but that experience was not so hot. Then we met the rep, Ashley, at the Clayton Homes in Glendale. Ever since she took over our home buying process, it was very seamless. She was easy to deal with and very helpful. Whenever there was an issue and we reached out to Ashley, she got stuff done. Towards the end of the process, everybody there was great. There were a few things that were supposed to be fixed and we're still waiting for these to be taken care of, but they've come out and taken care of a lot of the issues that we had. We're feeling good about the quality of our home.
Thank you so much for your feedback, Stephany. We're so glad to hear that everything went well once Ashley took over and that she was able to help you all with everything. We're going to touch base on the repairs you're still needing, and someone will be in touch shortly!

Sherry at Clayton Homes who worked in the front office was super nice and she helped me out the whole process. I was extremely satisfied. She gave me her personal number and she answered any questions I had and she was fast to respond. It was a quick ordeal and the application process was pretty easy. Working with them was a pleasant experience. We got a new home out of it and we're enjoying a new life. I would highly recommend Clayton.
Thank you so much for the great feedback, Richard! And thank you for choosing Clayton to be there with you as you start a new life! We're so glad that you enjoyed working with Sherry and you're satisfied. Congratulations on your new home!

I wanted my own piece of property somewhere I could pick out and Clayton worked with me on it. The application process was easy and the rep made it simple. He explained everything I needed to get if it was something that I didn’t understand. Getting approved took a couple of months. I bought a three-bedroom, two-bath single wide and now, I don’t have to answer to a landlord.
Congratulations on your new home, Jennifer! Isn't it a great feeling to be a homeowner and not have to worry about answering to a landlord? Now you have something that's all yours! Thank you for choosing Clayton for that next step and thank you for the positive feedback!

Miss Linda, our home consultant at Clayton, was great. She had an awesome attitude and a great personality all around. She was very well-informed and knowledgeable of her product. She was able to walk us through everything and give us ideas, and help us through what we didn't know if we could get or what we could. We told her what we wanted then she showed us a house, and it was exactly what we wanted. There were few minor details, but other than that, we can't complain. We feel very good about the home that she got us set up in. And we're now in the middle of getting approved for it, which is awesome.
Tabitha, that's so wonderful! We're thrilled to hear that you're so satisfied with your home and with your home buying process! We'll definitely let Linda and her team know how much you enjoyed working with her! Congratulations on your new home!

My grandmother-in-law has a house from Clayton Homes, so we went with them based on her experience with them. We had a great experience during the home buying process. Everything went smoothly. We worked with the rep, Hillary, then another rep, Patricia, also helped us. The quality of our home is great.
That's so wonderful, Kimberly! Thank you so much for letting us know! We're thrilled to hear that your grandmother-in-law had a great experience, and that you did as well! We'll be sure to let Hillary & Patricia know you enjoyed working with them!

Most warranty requests were completely ignored even though we submitted them in a Word document via email to the dealer. They did NOT honor their warranty in that they did not fix everything on our list. Much of the finished product looked rushed. For example, the trim didn't match up, light switches were crooked, the airflow was off in one of the rooms, there was a lot of over spray, there were missing screws on the breaker box, there were several strange uneven spots in the floor, the dishwasher was installed broken, there were cracks in the shower, there were holes in the shower, there was missing paint on the exterior, and last but certainly not least, we have had the house for 1 year and have already had a roof leak and are having to replace the entire roof, etc. etc. etc.
They didn't even send Clayton employees to fix the house. It was always some unknown contractor who just tried to get out of doing the work. One said he would return and never did and then claimed he fixed things he never even looked at. My girl and I are both teachers. I spent my life savings on the down payment and did NOT get the house I paid for. It has caused a rather dark depression for both of us. As teachers, we have to just take it. They refused to honor the warranty. I mean really, what can we do?
I would never recommend dealing with this truly disgusting company. To take someone's money for something and not give them what they paid for is fraud. I suppose it would be easy to make money if I advertised one thing but delivered something else and then refused to make it right especially when you do it to people who are of a lesser socioeconomic class who can't send an army of lawyers after you. At this point, if I could, I would haul this house away and buy a completely new house. The only comfort I have is that Karma is real. You simply can't treat people this way and get away with it. The universe will deliver like to like.

Clayton Homes was right across the road from where we lived. When we first went there, we worked with Judy who had been there for years. And then, we couldn't sell our home. So, we backed out of even looking. And then, a couple of years later, we went back and worked with Connie. And she was just awesome, together with Rob and Judy. She was very conscientious and she understood what we wanted. I was impressed with the way she didn't act like a salesman.
As far as the process of buying the house, it was fine. I was upfront with them and I told them they gotta be upfront with us and they were. If I had any questions, they answered. They'd call me right back with it. I'd just stop there and tell them we got to talk and then we'd sit and talk, and they jump right on it. It was the easiest thing I ever did as far as buying a house. We made some friends and I had sent people to them.
We had one little problem in the construction. I wanted a double lot. I didn’t wanna go and extend ‘cause there was no money. I had the inside just like my modular like I wanted it. I wanted the double-wide roof and I didn't care about any upgrades. We found out my land was on had to be a double-wide or a stick-built. It had to be modular or a stick-built. So, we had to go back to the drawing board for that. We had to rewrite it. We found out in December they had to start that up. They jumped on that process and Rob got in behind Clayton Homes or where were they building at, and my house was ready in April.
Thank you so much for your detailed feedback, Debra! We're so glad to hear that the timing eventually worked out for you to buy a home from us. We're also so happy that you enjoyed working with Judy, Rob, and Connie! We appreciate you sticking with us during the issue with your land, and are relieved to know everything worked out. Congratulations on your new home!

My experience with Clayton Homes was good. All of them in there were good to work with and I enjoyed working with them. I even got housewarming gifts. Their customer service was excellent and the purchase actually didn’t take that long. But I had a lot of hindrance in my way like land and easements. LGI worked with me though. They helped me make phone calls and handled Duke Energy for me. So they were a big help. I got the home on the land at the end of November and I closed in April. So that took about six months and so far, the quality of the build is good. It was a mobile home but I turned it into a modular. I customized the flooring and that stands out. They’re different.
We're so glad to hear that your home buying experience went well, Angie! Thank you so much for taking the time to share with us. It's great that you were able to customize the home to be exactly what you need. Congratulations!

I bought the Smithfield last year after a difficult start with a salesman when Joanne stepped in and smoothed everything out. She basically saved the sale along with Bonnie and Shane. I love my new home with one major exception - the 45 gallon hot water heater doesn't fill the master bathtub! The lot did everything they could, but still cannot use the tub. I've called corporate about it only for them to keep telling me they will look into it and call me back. Keep in mind this has been going on since I bought my home and I still can't use the tub due to not enough hot water. They sell homes with a Roman tub and a small hot water heater that only fills the tub up with max 6 inches of water before it turns ice cold! Everything else in this home is wonderful.
Thank you for the positive feedback, Gayle. We're sorry to hear that things were off to a rough start, but we're glad to hear that it got smoothed out. We're going to look into the matter with your tub and someone will be in touch.

Our sales guy was West and I liked him. He was a good sales guy. But we were kind of expecting a little more from the house by what they promised us or what they told us. It's not exactly what we got. We were told that the exterior walls were plywood like a regular home. But when we had some guys out with my husband to take a look at the wall, they took down a piece of the siding, and he realized that it was like particle board or compressed cardboard. So we're not happy about that. We were under the impression that we're going to have actual walls, and that's not the case at all. The manufacturing part of the home itself sucks. The quality that you get from the manufacturer is not good and they are lollygagging. Clayton Homes' hands are just tied at this point, but they've done their best with what they've got to work with. I like the people that work there. They're awesome. But we've got a whole laundry list of things for them to fix from the manufacturer.
Thank you for your candid feedback, Amanda. We're glad to hear that the sales process went well, but of course hate to hear that the quality of your home isn't as expected. We're going to follow up regarding your remaining and repairs and someone will be in touch.

We purchased a new mobile home in Highland Hills Estates in Novi Mi. After we moved in we noticed the siding was rippling. After put in a complaint they sent someone out to replace all of the siding. They only did 1/4 and we had to call them out to finish. Once again they came out and only finished half. After several calls to both Highland Hills and Clayton Homes they have done nothing in almost a year. Now some of siding they did replace has fallen off in the wind. Once again we can get no response from many phone calls and promises to call us back. This company should not be in business any longer. Never buy anything from this company.

They pretty much took all the small things off my plate. I didn’t have to worry about anything. I’m happy with the quality of my house. I liked that it's an energy-rated house, and I was completely impressed with my electrical bills over the hot summer. I also liked the openness. So, overall, I’ve been pretty impressed with it. Clayton Homes was cheaper and more reliable compared to other builders. I'm satisfied with the home buying experience. Their reps were knowledgeable about their homes, and they were considerate about what we needed and wanted. They also answered my questions pretty fast. Our consultant was Eric and when I asked him to come out, he would make it the next day or he would give me a call. But Clayton Homes could improve on the quality of the material in the building. Some of my walls are warping, and there are horizontal cracks across my roof and my kitchen.

Nightmare Clayton Homes Of Raleigh NC. From the beginning to the end we've had nothing but lies, empty promises. Our home from the outside in is trash. They use the cheapest material they can get by with. Most of our rafter supports are broken, left our duct work undone because didn't have enough to finish, leaning walls, bowed walls, slanting walls, rooms that aren't square, plastic door frames, window frames, etc. Our cabinets are stapled together, foundation cracks...and our worst part is the sales rep. altered a county map showing us that we weren't buying any protected land and we found out she lied, we now own a 206,000 piece of junk with protected land.

We had stopped at other manufactured home dealers and we weren’t treated the way we should have. I dropped in at Clayton Homes in Greer, South Carolina one day and I was encouraged with the type of service that I got. The people were very professional and easy to talk to. They were also very attentive. If I had a concern, they took care of it promptly. We had never lived in a mobile home before as we've always lived in typical construction houses, but the one we got is very well-insulated. I’m even considering going back again for an add-on or for one of my daughters. The one disappointment is that the hardware and the doors are not great quality. But I've been very pleased with the overall construction because it’s very cold out and there’s at least a 30-degree difference, sometimes more. A lot of times, our furnace doesn’t even come on until early in the morning.

I have lived in my area all my life and I've known about Clayton Homes as long as they've been here. Once, I went to Oakwood, but they pissed me off so I left. Meanwhile, the guy at Clayton comes back if anything is messed up and fixes it. He was good. However, the manager that we bought the place from, he did well until after we bought it. He pissed me off cause he said that I didn't buy a Taj Mahal and just bought a trailer and that comment didn't sit too well with me. He doesn't work there anymore though. Also, they got a beginner to build my single-wide trailer. When you look at the doors, they're not straight across me, like they didn't hang them right. Still, I am very satisfied with what we have. It's perfect and we love it, we couldn't ask for a better place. Also, if I call down there and have a problem, the girls in the office get right on to it. Given my experience, I would tell everyone to go to Clayton.
We really appreciate you taking the time to share your experience with us, Linda. It means a lot to us, especially considering the hiccups you had in the beginning. But it sounds like everything has worked out for the best now! We will definitely pass along your feedback regarding the doors to your Home Building Facility as well.

Clayton Homes is local, up the road in Roxboro, and I decided I wanted to do someone local. Just in case there were problems, there's somebody close by to get back in touch with. They also have a good reputation. I heard a lot of good things about Clayton, and I think they've been voted Retailer of the Year several times. The home buying process with Clayton was good and the salesman that I dealt with was very good about getting back in touch with me. If I had questions or anything that I needed to know, he'd let me know. There were a few minor issues here and there, and the people at Clayton were very good about getting out here as quick as possible to get things taken care of.
Working with Clayton was everything I expected. The home I purchased was already on the lots. I looked at three that I was trying to decide between. And one of these that I was looking at got moved to their clearance lot and that was a substantial saving in money. I took that house and it was just a question of getting it out here. We have some weather issues with a lot of rain and stuff that held us up a bit, but that was out of their control. Once they got started, it went quickly. The build of the home is good quality and so far, I haven't had any problems with it.

I got a little 1,200 square foot, nice master with a nice master bath and closet, two smaller bedrooms and open concept. It’s just wonderful. Ten adults can be in here and we’re not on top of each other. I’m really pleased. It took me about five minutes to make my mind up after I first saw it. It just needed a lot of paperwork but that’s what you get when you’re having a mortgage. I had to have a place to get in fast because I was living with somebody and I wanted to come home. Clayton homes were the first ones that I looked at, and I went with them. I’ve had a bad experience with them however. I’ve had several issues with the trailer, but they're things I can fix. The problem was mainly the flooring that had big bumps in the mold. A worker came back out and tacked the mold, and now the molding is all right. I’m also having trouble with the one of the toilets but it’s nothing major. I like the rest of the quality in my new home, and people who come here like it as well.
I'm also having a problem with the lady that works in the office. She told me, and I have several witnesses who were there with me, that if I would send somebody in to buy another trailer, they’d give me a certain amount of money. Apparently, that’s something they do. So I sent a girl in and her husband purchased a mobile home from Clayton. Then the lady said she was gonna put my name down and she promised me that I would get the money. I told her to make sure that happens, but now, they won’t even answer the phone when I call.
I live on a fixed income and I only get a bit a month from widow’s benefit. If Clayton is not gonna give me the money, they ought to tell me. I’ve been good and I hadn’t bothered them. But I told my daughter this morning to look up Clayton's main office because I may file a report. I’m gonna start calling and they’re coming out here and they’re gonna fix everything wrong with this trailer. My brother, meanwhile, is looking to buy himself a double wide and he’s looking at my home too. I told him to give Clayton a chance and see what they have. Overall, I’m satisfied with Clayton Homes.

We went around and compared prices. Although we liked some of the other homes, a lot of them were either too expensive or the reviews weren't what we expected. Also, when we went to some of the other places, we were walking around outside for 20 minutes but nobody came out to greet us. Then with some of them, we went into the office and when we talked to them, they told us to go out, take a look around and let them know what we think.
Then we checked out Clayton and the service was a lot better. They immediately took us in since we got there. They told us about the history and what they had. From the beginning, they were very helpful. The home consultant we worked with also seemed like she's been doing it for a long time. I was impressed with her friendliness and knowledge. I would like a bigger yard though and maybe a little bit more variety. They had an area for single wide and an area for double wide. But they didn't have a whole lot of triple wide.
When we moved in, they had a guy come out and we went through and noted anything that needed to be fixed. The hood above our range did not work and he ended up replacing the entire hood because he said the motor was out. The unit was brand new but the motor was out. The only real issue that I had though was the vinyl siding in the front of my home, right above the living room window. They had trimmed it too short. But when I told him about it, he basically said I was stuck with it because it was a manufacturer's defect when they built the home. He said he only comes out and replaces stuff, like the light. He replaced the light fixture for the front porch. Also, we had a big long crack in our master bedroom ceiling but they said that happened during the move. Things were gonna happen during the move and I knew that. But I also had to tell them to double check the plumbing. Otherwise, the house has seemed to be holding up pretty well.
We're so glad that you chose Clayton, Douglas. Thank you so much for taking the time to give us such detailed feedback about your buying experience. We're going to look into the situation with your siding and the crack over your ceiling and someone will be in touch. Congratulations on your new home, we'll do what we can to get everything corrected!

We bought a home from Clayton Home Center in Lowell Arkansas. We were so very excited to buy our first home. At first the experience was EXCELLENT. Then we closed on the house. (and they got their down payment). Well they were trying to put us in another home... NOT the home we wanted and got the mortgage for. So that had to be fixed. It took a bit and we figured it was just an accident and they worked quickly to get it corrected. It did cost us another trip to Lowell. From the first time I contacted them about buying a new home I made it clear that time was of the essence. I explained our situation to them fully. Our old home had apparently been used to “cook **” in it when it was a rent house before my husband bought it. It started to cause all sorts of health problems. So we HAD to get out. They were super supportive and helpful. We closed on October 16th.
On October 29th our old house was bulldozed. My kids and I started staying with my dad 30 miles from our home site and jobs. My husband stayed in a Derksen building that was only partially insulated. We had been broken into and cleaned out several times when he was in the hospital for long periods of time. He wanted to prevent theft of what little we were able to keep out of the house. Some of our big stuff didn’t fit into the storage building with room for him to stay as well. So It was covered up outside since it was going to be a quick turn around. Now keep in mind It has periodically been in the teens at night. He is staying in a partially insulated STORAGE SHED!! They know this. My husband is disabled. He had open heart surgery last year (part of the conditions caused by the old house) and is a bilateral below the knee amputee. HE HAS NO LEGS!!!
Since it has been so long, most of our big stuff is ruined. The house has completely set up, tied down, skirted, with stairs and ramp built by December 4th. We are still not allowed to live in it. It is one thing after another, Wes had to take pictures to submit to the mortgage company, FHA inspectors, a “welcome home” walk through and after all this then they will have a better idea of when we can move in. WE HAVE BEEN HOMELESS SINCE OCTOBER 29th!!! They really don't care a bit either. Also, the guy that delivered and set up our home on November 21st was the person that was to hook up the water and sewer. His family was on their way to Iowa for Thanksgiving and he did not have time to hook everything up so he called Wes at Clayton's and got the go ahead for us to do the hook ups ourselves. We would be reimbursed up to $1500 for this since it was financed into our mortgage. Now they refuse to reimburse us.
I cleaned out my Savings in order to get this stuff done because we are all exhausted. We can send an invoice from our electrician friend that hooked up the power and that will be reimbursed... Where is the rest of that money going??? Definitely not to me! AND I HAVE TO PAY IT BACK!!! I am just completely exhausted even thinking about the crap this place has put me and my family through. I lost the new home joy a LONG time ago. Today is December 11th. We are still homeless. This is stupid. Is there any ADA laws that would help protect my Husband??? I guess I will DEFINITELY be looking into that!!! I would HIGHLY discourage anyone doing business with this company.
Carrie, we are so sorry to hear that your experience at our Lowell location has not gone well. We are going to look into the situation and someone will be in touch with you directly. Thank you for bringing this to our attention!

I was in a position where I could pay cash for my house, so I didn't have to finance and when I made my decision on which house I wanted, everything went very smoothly. The insurance got taken care of and it was a really smooth transition into my new house. I got helped with everything I needed help on.
The house I sold before I bought this one was a Clayton home and it had held up very well. That's why I went with another Clayton home. Being a single wide as well as a little less expensive than my other home before, the new house may not have quite the quality but I don't have any problems with it. I’m very satisfied with the build and if I notice something that needs to be corrected, I call Clayton Homes. Sometimes, it would take a little longer for them to get out and take care of the problem due to the guy having a lot to cover but they've come out and taken care of everything I called and asked about. I have recommended to people that I was very satisfied with them then and I would recommend them now.
Wow! It's awesome to hear that you chose to come back to Clayton, Rita! We sincerely appreciate you taking the time to share your feedback with us. We're so glad that you're happy with your new home. We also appreciate your patience with repairs, quality service technicians are hard to come by and that can sometimes slow things down. Thank you for understanding!

The process for buying a home from Clayton was simple and quick. From looking to turning the paperwork to the delivery of the home, it was within a month. Everybody was courteous and the reps were professional and not pushy. They showed me multiple homes and it wasn’t a high-pressure situation which was why I went with them. The follow-up and the build were both great and they handled everything I needed to be done. It was perfect. They took care of any attention to detail that was needed before I showed up to move in. So far, I haven't had any issues. Everything has been good and I have recommended it.

But the person that Clayton sent out did great and fixed every problem that I had. I would recommend Clayton to someone else.

When we decided we wanted to buy a home, we went by Clayton and went through them. The one on the lot was what we wanted, so we didn't look any place else. We got it and the quality of the home and everything is great. The contractor we had, Phil, was great too. We've been in the house since April and we love it, but there are minor things that need to be fixed. There's a door bottom that has to be replaced and the floor is still creaking when we walk across it. I'd like to get it done, and then we'll be finished with it. On a different note, everybody who came up and saw the house loved it, and we've told them we're completely satisfied with it.

Even with something stupid and I had a question, she would always walk me through everything and took her time. She was awesome. I would refer anybody to her and recommend Clayton to my friends. I discovered Clayton Homes when I was riding and looking around. They tried to help me more than any other lender that I went with, so I chose Clayton Homes. The home consultant was very professional and caring. They looked into everything including the questions that I had to ask them and addressed these properly. They also took time enough to sit down and talk to me about different things, the way things worked, and how they do different things. So, they consult very well. The home buying process was very satisfactory and I got what I needed. I also got a very good quality house and I love it. Clayton Homes is a very good company to deal with and they try their best to help people who really need help. They go out of their way to try to make things right for you, where you can get what you desire to have. They work well with people and so I would recommend them to all of my friends.

I was recommended to Clayton homes of Monks Corner by a family. I have to say the staff is very friendly and knowledgeable about their product. However, I have been waiting to close on my mobile home since August of 2018 and it is now December of 2018. That lawyer that Clayton was not working on my best interest. In fact he was the same attorney another had used. This attorney wanted to know where I got the money the land, I had purchased. I felt obligated to tell him, that I sold my house in Charlotte and used the money to purchased the land. My credit union is going to finance my loan. They have given me an approval letter, talked to Clayton homes, yet I am still waiting for a closing date.
My credit has called me several times asking what is taking them so long because they too are ready for me to close. All of this leaves me with many questions, Why am I being treated this way? Is the profit not enough for Clayton Homes since I am financing with my credit union? Is Clayton Homes profiting more from the dealer homes sales and do they care about the average buyer?

The rep and the initial process were amazing, but I have holes in my walls because of staples and it's not hidden. There are nails too. Clayton Homes needs to slow down and not put nails through the holes, which are not gonna be covered. They also need to lay off the putty. It's bringing an oil base out through the wall and now I'm stuck with walls that have spots. It's been almost a year and the men are nice, but I don't like that they are still coming in and fixing things in the house. All in all, the new house is good in some places, but in some, it's not.
Thank you for your feedback, Sarah! The information you provided regarding your walls is very beneficial for us. We had stopped at Clayton Homes a time or two before and whether the people were just really busy or they didn’t care, we felt then that we were getting first to decide. We were looking at homes and I knew I was gonna buy something, but I couldn’t decide. Then, we walked in when Daniel happened to be there and he talked to us. We had several questions that day and he answered every one of them, so we made up our mind that if we are to buy a home, it would be from him. He was great and very helpful. We were happy with how the buying process went. The only glitch we had was, due to some money that I inherited, I had to explain why I had a big deposit in my account. We customized our home and that went smoothly as well.
Also, the overall quality of our home is great. There have been a few little things, however, which just come from it being manufactured. With these homes coming from mass production, I feel like sometimes they just get slapped together in a hurry. But Clayton has been really good with the issues, and had sent somebody out to fix everything we’ve asked them. I’d recommend them to anybody.
We sincerely appreciate your feedback, Bruce. Thank you so much! We're glad to hear that you enjoyed working with Daniel and that your home buying experience went smoothly. It's also great to know you're happy with the quality and that the issues you had were repaired quickly!

I know some people that have Clayton Homes, and to me, there just wasn't a need to look anywhere else. I've known them for quite some time and the high cost of housing was what made me go with them. It was my third home purchase in my life, and the easiest by far. I put a credit app in one day, and the next morning, someone called me at 9 AM who told me I was approved. And during that process, I had already picked out a place where I wanted the home put in. Everything went smoothly. I bought a lot model, I got a double wide. It is a mobile home and it's made on the cheap side. The home is complete and I got all the appliances. I put my own washer and dryer in. There are four bedrooms and two baths. The only thing that the home really lacked is storage, but I knew that going into it.
I've already contacted Clayton about moving forward because we're gonna eventually buy a piece of property in Tennessee, and I wanna put several homes in for my family. They've indicated that they will sell me factory-direct. And purchasing more than one home at a time, they'll give me discounts and whatever is available at that time. So, we're probably gonna end up purchasing another four homes from them here in the next three years.
That's so wonderful to hear, Richard! Thank you so much for taking the time to share with us how your experience went! It's so good to know that everything went so smoothly. We look forward to hopefully eventually helping you again when you move south!

Clayton Homes helped us find our property to put the home on and found an exceptional builder to do the construction side of it. Those guys were really moving and we got moved in faster. The home was ready before we thought it was gonna be and it was exceptional and more than I expected. We did a larger opening on the master shower and got rid of the tub option since we don't use the tub a lot.
The office staff, our sales agent, especially the field technicians, were all awesome. They were always available if I had any questions. From the time we did the initial assessment of the home to getting things repaired was a bit timely, but everything else was great. The home buying experience was very good and seamless. The home buying process with Clayton Homes was fine and I had a really good experience with the salesman. He was really nice. Clayton did a great job setting up our home. They put a fireplace in it and they changed out the stove for me. I also had carpet put in the den. However, the quality of the home could be better. Everything else got fixed except the fireplace and the salesman is supposed to be working on it. My fireplace is still messed up. They didn’t do a really good job on it. They were supposed to have sent somebody out, but they never have. I got two rocks that looked terrible. They put a rock on one side at the top then put it on the other and put plaster, and it’s already cracked. The floors in it are not really good flooring and the floors flake. There were things like that that could have been better. Despite that, I'd still recommend them.

Clayton was the best deal around, so I went with them. The service that I got there was incomparable with any other place that I went to and the prices were reasonable. I talked to Brittany there, she was the lady who sold me the home, and she was really nice and courteous. Every question that I asked her about the home, she had an answer for me and she wasn't guessing at it. If she didn't know the answer, she was upfront and asked me to give her a couple of minutes to find out for me. But the thing that meant the most was she didn't force me into anything and wouldn’t rush me. She just gave me a key to the ones I wanted to look at, told me to take my time, and said to come and talk to her when I was ready.
The quality of the home is pretty good considering the long journey that it had to make. There were a few small repairs that I had to make but they were nothing major and nothing that wouldn't be expected anywhere else. Also, there are a couple of things that I would have done a little differently. For instance, if I was building it to sell to a consumer, I would probably go with a little higher-end faucets and a lot bigger carpet. In fact, I already had to change the carpet out because there was no padding at all under it and when you're walking on it, you're feeling the nails that the plywood is nailed down with.
Other than that, Clayton's reps have called me up four times since I purchased the home to check on me. They wanted to see how things were going and if there was anything they could do. They’ve been really courteous after the fact and weren't just in a hurry to sell you a home where they never worry about you again. I was happy with all the service done and I couldn't ask for anything better. As long as they can keep that up, I'd be more than happy to recommend them to anybody.
We appreciate your detailed feedback and your positive review, Shannon! Thank you so much for taking the time to share your experience with us. We are definitely going to pass along your feedback regarding the faucets and carpeting to our Home Building Group. We're thrilled to hear that you're happy with the home and that you enjoyed working with Brittany. Thanks again for the kind words and congratulations on your new home!

I went with Clayton because my grandma had done investments with them and she said that they were a good company. I was deciding between them and Oakwood Homes and when I researched and looked into them in person, they also carried Oakwood Homes. They were also closer than Oakwood. My only dissatisfaction was when we were buying the property for Clayton Homes. We were recommended to somebody for a Realtor but the Realtor was not knowledgeable about how to handle buying the kind of property that we were trying to do for Clayton Homes. It caused me to lose $500. I would recommend that someone going into Clayton Homes be knowledgeable. I wouldn't trust Clayton to give me a recommended Realtor after what happened. I'd wanna make sure I had my own going into it.
I also have a comment as far as stuff getting done. We're a military family and we didn't have time. We were living on a couch because it took them almost a month longer to complete the house than expected. If we had time, I would not have closed on the house until the grade was completed. We purchased the house in April and within the first two weeks of us we lived here, we noticed that the foundation for the house didn't really have a grade. It slopes down six inches away from the house in the course of 10 feet. So with the rain we've gotten, the whole front of the house has flooded really bad.
I've taken pictures and sent it to Chris, and they keep calling to say that they're acknowledging it but I haven't seen anything happen yet. I understand the weather plays a big part it in but I thought something was gonna happen a month ago. We did have good weather and yet, nothing has been done about it. Other than that, we also wanted to have the shower area customized. Instead of having a bathtub, we just wanted a stand-up shower. But I was a little bit disappointed at how the shower turned out. It wasn't what I was expecting it to be. But it's a shower so I was happy.
Thank you SO much for the detailed feedback, Jacqueline. We sincerely appreciate you taking the time to share your experience with us. We're definitely going to pass along your feedback to the appropriate parties and use it to better our processes on the front end, especially with the realtor recommendation and grading. We're also going to follow up with Chris about your situation and see what we can do to help. Someone will be in touch soon!

I bought a home from Clayton or an affiliate of theirs back in ’97 in the Charleston area. It was in Walterboro which is a nearby town where I was working. The home buying process was great. They were right on it and everything went perfectly. They had to put the building up 7 feet so they had to coordinate with bricklayers and the people in Charleston County. We had to have a crane put it in and do all that. So, it was a hard build. The rep got it done in a reasonable length of time, there was no extra money needed and everything went smoothly. There were quite a few leaks in the vent on the roof and they didn’t hook up the washing machine drain correctly but they fixed them. Everything else was fine and it was a great experience.

I was interested in getting a trailer and I went through Clayton Homes’ dealership. I liked the higher ceiling and the transom windows in the living room of the house. Their service was also great. They took care of any kind of problem that I had almost right away. We bought a long trailer and when they moved one end of it, four rooms had to be completely re-sheetrock because it was twisted so much. They also lined up their air conditioning right through the middle of the room instead of up against the windows. In the summertime, the air conditioner works great. We didn’t have to turn it up or turn it down. But in the winter, it’s not that way. It's supposed to be energy efficient. The windows allow cold air to come in so I will get curtains because of it.
The other thing that we didn’t like about was the trim that they used around the doors and the windows in this trailer. I’ve got two, three pieces of trims that have already come off completely. They come loose from the nail heads that they've got in there. I’m not sure why, but they do. That’s gonna have to be replaced. After a while they just kinda buck up and come out. Nevertheless, I would recommend Clayton Homes but I would also let people know what the problems were.

I was living in Iowa when my husband died and I was looking for home builders in Missouri. I have seen one by St. Louis but when I talked to them, they said that it was gonna cost a fortune to move. So when I came down right around Thanksgiving, I asked my son if there was some place around there that we could go look at and he said that the Clayton Homes over in Neosho had a good reputation. We drove over there that day and the homes were so nice. The first one I walked into was the one I wanted and I talked to the people at Clayton and told them that I wanted to make a down payment. But then I had to sell my house in Iowa, and they said that they would do everything to work with me. And they truly did.
The people at Clayton kept in touch with me when I was in Iowa and when I told them I was coming in the spring, they got me the house. Rusty and his crew would call and ask if I have a problem. Then any time that I had a problem, I would call over to Clayton and the people would talk to me even about stuff that wasn't with the home, like with the water filter. I've never lived in the country and they were so good they explained to me how it works. When I had some trouble with the furnace, they called two different people and told them that they needed to get it fixed right away because I'm elderly. Also, that they didn't want me sitting here without having everything working. Anything that I have a problem with, Jonathan would come over and get it fixed right away. He would even go the extra mile. They did super nice in making sure things were done right and I was very impressed with that.
I went with a better Clayton home that was taped and the quality is very nice too. It's like waking up and thinking I'm in a hotel. I love the set-up of it and it's perfect for me. Everyone that walks in it would go, "Wow." They couldn't believe how well it was set up. A couple of people even said that they would consider going with one. We call it a modular home because it's classy.
Meg, you have us saying, "Wow!" We loved reading your review! It's so great to know that you're so happy with your home and that your home buying process was so great! Thank you so much for taking the time to let us know. Congratulations on your new home!

My husband and I recently purchased a home from Clayton Homes (aka SE Homes, aka CMH Homes, Inc.), and have had a poor to fair experience with customer service, product quality, and resolution/repairs. I would not recommend purchasing a Clayton Home at all. We ordered our new Abigail model home in June 2018. It was delivered in August 2018. To date (December 4, 2018) there are MULTIPLE issues that were present at delivery that have not been addressed. Here is a detailed account of our experience so that hopefully, another customer can avoid this headache all together.
Customer service: Let me first say that everyone at the dealership has been very nice and accommodating. However, there is a point at which when someone tells you that you will receive something the next week, or that they can get something done by a deadline, and fails to deliver again and again and again, nice morphs into patronizing. The overwhelming theme of our experience with the staff is that they readily tell the customer what they want to hear, rather than facts. This leads to a customer service experience in which the dealership over-promises and under-delivers. And unfortunately, that is just the tip of the iceberg.
Poor quality materials and workmanship: When we toured the model home, one of the big features were beautiful barn doors in the master bathroom. When our home was delivered, we immediately noticed that the doors we received were not real wood at all. They were particle board with a cheap wood pattern overlay glued over them. The doors were ultimately replaced with the doors from the model home that we toured (our understanding is that the doors we received were actually pulled from the model that we viewed). One of the particle board doors was disposed of in a burn pile at our home (with our permission), and we noticed that as soon as the moisture from outside hit it, the cheap overlay bubbled and peeled. These particle board doors are now the standard in the Abigail home, and they are in a bathroom, where they will be constantly exposed to moisture.
I use this as an example, because although my doors were replaced, we toured a home with a much better product, were quoted a price for the home based on that product, and we received a far inferior product to what we originally paid for. It was only after several follow ups and complaints that we were able to get the doors that we originally paid for.
Poor communication and purchasing process: The ordering process is frankly a bit of a joke. Part of the order process is to sign off on all of your modifications for your home, but the details of the order form leave a LOT to the imagination. Ultimately, you have to rely on the communications between the factory and dealership salesperson, and hope for the best. One example is that the exterior of our home was to be a light color, with a darker insert. The order form simply states the color and any upcharge – there is nowhere that you sign off on where those colors were to be placed, and when we received our home and they were inversed (dark with light instead of light with dark), we had NO RECOURSE whatsoever, since that is what was on the order form.
Flagrantly usury verbiage in an attempt to remedy company errors: In addition to the order form itself, there is a lot of back and forth between the dealership and factory before you actually place your order. We had discussed one countertop the first day we were at the dealership, and chose a different countertop. The countertop on our order form is not what we received. (Who even signed off on the specs at the factory inspection prior to delivery, because they’re clearly not doing their job?).
We agreed to come up with a settlement agreement, in which Clayton Homes offered us only a portion of what it would actually cost to replace the countertops. The agreement we were sent to sign and actually get the check included the verbiage “Buyer(s), jointly and severally, do hereby forever release, discharge, and agree to indemnify, defend and hold harmless [Clayton Homes] from any and all claims, liability, damages, and expenses whatsoever, whether now existing or hereafter arising.”
We had an attorney review this document and he agreed that this verbiage released Clayton Homes from ANY repair, not just related to the countertops. Clayton was unwilling to redline this agreement and to date, we have yet to receive any compensation from this company for THEIR error. Our home is yet to be complete: As of the date of this writing the following issues persist at our new home.
We have not received the deep cabinet drawers for our home. The home was delivered incomplete, and for months we have been told that the 13 missing cabinet drawers would arrive “Next week” and “We’ll get it taken care of”. Our lighting upgrade is nonexistent/inoperable. We paid a premium to have additional lights installed on the exterior of the home at each entry. The lighting for the front entry was not installed at all. The additional lighting at the rear door was installed, but is inoperable (does not function). (Again, someone signed off that the entire electrical system was tested before the house was shipped.)
Our skirting has yet to be installed. And the issues with our kitchen island. We paid $1,600 to have the island widened to the size of the countertop instead of having a seating ledge, and to add an additional bank of cabinets on that side. The cabinets were added, but not extended like they were supposed to be, making them dysfunctional to use. Also, the cabinets installed did not match the opposite side as requested (there are no drawers). In addition, several cabinet bodies were “unfinished” leaving a matte appearance next to a glossy cabinet. This gives the appearance that the cabinets are two different colors of black.
Clayton Homes sent a representative from the factory to view the issues first hand, and that representative brushed off the complaints stating that “it’s not that bad”. Clayton homes offered us $350 in compensation for their errors on the island, or they would replace it. The compensation should be calculated as how much it would cost to get this fixed to specifications not what Clayton deems their shortage of performance is.
We opted to have the island repaired to specific performance, and the replacement cabinets that arrived had the same issues with some of the surfaces being unfinished, and were the same incorrect depth. We also waited over 3 months for this repair because we were told a team from the Alabama plant would be sent to make the repairs. Only one person showed up with the cabinets, he was from Fort Worth, and he had no helper with him. My husband had to help him carry everything, dismantle everything, etc. We are not here to be Clayton Homes’ free labor for repair orders. To date, this issue has not been resolved, and we are paying interest and mortgage payments on a home that is incomplete. Please save yourself the headache, and avoid purchasing a Clayton Home.
Wendy, we are so sorry to hear about your experience. We will follow up with you shortly.

Also, the home is good, so far. But we're having some issues with the flooring throughout the whole house. It's laminate flooring and it's curling at the seam. The service guy is trying to take care of that for us and he's trying to contact the plant to see what they could do about that. I would recommend anybody that I know to go buy a house at Clayton Homes.
Thank you for the kind words, Sophia! We are happy that everything went well and that you'd recommend us! We're going to follow up regarding your flooring issues and then we'll be in touch.

I originally ordered a home from another dealer who said they could get it and then after six months and telling me all sorts of lies, I found out they can't get it. I went back to Clayton Homes in Walton, Kentucky, fell in love with a house and went with some higher upgrade packages than what they have on the lot. I had to redo all my bank financing and once I got the go for the financing, we had the first closing with the bank on my loan one week, and a week later, I was touching the home at Walton, Kentucky, which was ordered about two weeks earlier. They had spots reserved, and they had a spot open to build a home when they didn't have any deals going on. They went ahead and jumped mine in before I was able to get everything finalized. I was in a 100-year-old old farmhouse with baseboard electric heaters and there's a lot of difference with my new home, including seeing a lot of savings on my bills. So far, everything's good.
Thank you for taking the time to give us your feedback, David. We're so glad to hear the home buying process went smoothly and that you were able to get exactly what you wanted. We pride ourselves on the energy efficiency of our homes and we're thrilled to hear that you're saving on your utility bills! Congratulations on your new home!

I liked the price of Clayton Homes compared to building a stick house and I was hoping they were better than they used to be. The house seems to be solid and nice. I asked for certain things when I purchased the home, but it went short. It was no big deal, though. I wanted a baseboard and I wanted crown-molded. They let me have the material for a good price. They were gonna put it in, but they made a deal with me for me to do it, so I put that in myself. I used to work on mobile homes, but my biggest disappointment is the mice have found their way inside the house.
Mice came into the house when the weather got cold and I caught about eight mice in about seven days. It means they got access somewhere. I had it under the pen when we bought the house and I asked if there will be a problem with rodents getting in. The salesperson said no and that the house is tight and the mice can’t get in. However, they got in by the block, somehow or another, and they found their way into the home, somehow or another. Clayton must not be putting any metal around the pipe holes where they are getting in somehow.
I liked the salesperson that I dealt with, Chassidy. Clayton tried to do me good, although they might have burnt me on price. However, I wasn’t too happy talking with the service guy they put on to supposedly fix my home. There was a problem with my bathroom sink, with the little plunger that goes up and down in there. I was also asking him how to get the grid out of the shower. My home shower in another house has a screw down in it. I tried to turn the one in the new home a bit, but it wasn’t turning and I wanted to take it out, so I could put something in to clean my drain out and make the water flow better out. But I don’t see how to get it out without turning it up, and that was something I wanted him to fix. However, he was just trying to tell me there is something to buy that runs down there to clean the drains out and he just did not want to fool with it.
I made a bad choice because Clayton Homes got their own contractors. I got an outside contractor to put my septic system in and he said that the county in Lincoln County only let it go 8 inches in the ground. I had the home set at least four blocks high because I wanted a room to get underneath to it in case I needed to do some work later on. I finally could put the septic system in. But in this county, it shouldn’t be at least five blocks high and I wish my home was one block higher because of the shallowness of the way they put the septic tank in. It made a big hump in the backyard.
We like the home, but it really disappointed me that mice were able to get in the house. If I had to do it over with again, I would’ve looked harder to have somebody build me a stick house. I don’t like holes where rodents and snakes can get in, neither does my wife. I’ve also got one place where the floor squeaks badly. I wanted to get them to take that out and I’d like the drain fixed in the master bath. I wish there was some way that I could get something done about mice being able to get in.
There needs to be a screen or something put up somehow some way. I’m not happy. I got holes that rodents can get in, but as far as the drywall work, the guy has done well. The people that worked here were nice. I was very satisfied with the speed that they had done things -- setting it up and getting it -- because when they brought it in here, I didn't even think they could bring it in here, but they did. The contractors that they hired here did better than the contractors I hired.
Benny, we are sorry to hear about the situation you're having with your house and the rodents. We are going to look into your situation and then someone will be in touch with you! Thank you for the feedback.

The house that we lived in was about gone and we decided to go get us a new home. My nephew bought a house from Clayton Homes and we also went to them. We looked at a home around the lot and it was what my wife wanted so that’s what we got. Everything with the home buying process went normal and the staff has done well. The one who did the paperwork was really nice. Communication was all right throughout the whole process and they speak to my wife if they call. So far, they’ve done what they said they were gonna do. Also, we love the home. It’s good and warm, good and cool in summer, and we can’t complain a bit about it. So if you're looking into purchasing from Clayton Homes, go over there.
We love to hear that, James! Thank you so much for taking the time to let us know how well your home buying experience went and how happy you are with your home. Two of the properties of Clayton were located not too far from where I was raised and born. And then I saw the sign there on 84 that says purchase some land in order to get a three-bedroom, single rise so that’s what I did. I put my property up to get this trailer here. Everybody at Clayton was understanding. They were there for me whenever I needed to get this home here in these two acres. Everything was customized already, like the furnitures. We're well satisfied with the home and the way it’s designed. Everything was suitable. The quality of my home, so far, is 100%. When I was purchasing my home everything was on time and l truly liked that.

I had seen a commercial about Clayton Homes trading old ones for money off a new one so we went down there. We went to a different Clayton Homes in Albertville, and the guy there was awful and very rude. We went to Tara in Athens, and we looked at a ton of different homes trying to get one in our budget and get one where we didn’t have such a high down payment. Tara was fantastic on helping us on what we needed as it came to our down payment or our monthly payment. It took us two months to decide on one and get the money to get it. But after we had finally found one in our payment, it was easy and smooth sailing from there on the buying process.
We had originally picked a different one, and we were gonna close on it. It was the one that we were just settling with because we really wanted to own something instead of renting. Then a week before we were gonna close on the other one, Tara called me and said that she got a new one on the lot that was about the same price as the other one, but it was a completely different layout. She asked me if I wanted to see pictures of it, and she sent them to me. They didn’t have that one so she put our names on it as soon as it came on the lot. We changed everything over and closed on the one we have now instead of the other one, and we love the home.
We had a little rockiness with the contractors on getting the land and stuff ready, which I know weather conditions put everything behind for them. They have people ahead of us, but that took us forever and it was frustrating. But I have sent many people to see Tara, and they were talking about wanting to get a new home.
We appreciate your detailed feedback, Tesia! Thank you so much for taking the time to tell us about your experience. We're glad to hear that you enjoyed working with Tara and that she helped you get the exact home you wanted. The weather can definitely add some difficulty to getting the land prepped and the home setup, so we appreciate your patience! Thank you for your referrals as well! Congratulations on your new home!

Clayton Homes had some of the best deals and their homes were built a lot better than any other place that we had been to. The home consultants we worked with were awesome. Their names are Abby and Bert and they both helped me through the whole process. While everything is pretty decent since we've moved in, we've had a few things that popped up and they're supposed to be sending someone out to look at our kitchen island. Cause when they moved the trailer to our property, the people that set it up cut the floor and had messed up some of the piping that's in the island to the sink. The pipe busted after they had replaced it and so it got a little bit of water damage. It's not Clayton Homes' fault though. That's from the contractor and they're no longer with them. Other than that, Clayton Homes is awesome. I would recommend them to anybody.

My son has been handling all of this stuff and he has seen wood molding that's come loose, and I haven't been able to get him to get a hold of anybody over there yet. But the Clayton Homes team has been nice. One of the guys even sent me a piece of gift certificate. You don't find that from any businesses anymore. That was a shocker. It's not no big thing. The home buying process at Clayton Homes was very satisfying. They helped where I needed help at and it didn’t take long to get everything done. The application process was very easy. I just filled the application out and went along. The guy called me, and he went through the little things that he needed to go through, and set it all in.
The home consultant was also very nice. She was willing to help and things went on smoothly. She never got an attitude about anything I asked. She was just very helpful and anything I needed, she was there and helped me do it. The process was very well explained. She didn’t talk to me like I was dumb. She laid it out there to where you can understand what she was talking about. She just took into consideration everything, like the questions I had. She said, “Let me get back with you on it.” And then the next day, she got back with me and said, “This is what I think will work best,” or, “How about we go about this this way or that way,” and it just worked out perfect.
You need to go see Clayton Homes, because they’re the best to work with. They weren’t like total buttheads like the other companies I tried to go through. The other dealers just wanted to keep giving me the runaround. As soon as I went to Clayton, Lisa said, “Hey, how can I help you?” And I told her what I was looking for, what type of price range, and she said, “Hey, I’m the one for you,” and we just started working together. My husband and I were looking for a home. We would always go to Tilley's for some reason, but we saw Clayton's sign and went there ourselves. We just wanted to see what they had that was different. We looked at quite a few places, but we kept going back to Clayton. It was more of the customer service that we got from them. They were very friendly and professional. In the other lot we went to, sometimes they wouldn't acknowledge us until a little bit later. But as soon as we go into Clayton, they'd acknowledge us right then. They would ask if we needed something to drink and we would have coffee. They didn't treat us like we couldn't afford anything on their lot. We built up a friendship over time and they would ask us why don't we look. We'd say to give us the keys we'd go look. Then we'd come back in and they'd ask what we saw. We did this for a while.
We kept going back to Clayton for a couple of years until we finally got to the point where we knew we had to move from the bad area we were in. The Clayton home that we purchased looks more like a home instead of a mobile home. When I saw it and walked up in there, there was no need to look at another one. I liked the quality of the home. The closets in the room should be a little bit bigger though. Aside from the master bedroom, the other bedrooms seem to be small and the carpet space is limited. But overall, I love the space and the living room. We had a very good experience with Clayton Homes

I'm an adjuster and I've handled home claims in the past. My wife and I lived in a children's home for 18 years, and we had an apartment there where she worked. Then she retired and we had to move, so we decided it was time to purchase a new home. With Clayton, there were no problems in the process. We just needed to figure out where the financing was gonna go. We ordered our home on the second week of December and there was a bit of backlog in Albuquerque. Then we finally got it in and the weather cleared. They started assembling the home and we got to customize it. In one bedroom, the closet was tucked in behind the laundry room. So we put the closet in the third bedroom to match the closet in the little bedroom so we could have more feet of laundry room. We also wanted to make the dining room bigger to put some furniture in so we split two windows and put a door in between them. Then we locked the back from the dining room.
I had pretty good interactions with the salesman and Terrence, the manager. I already met Terrence years ago and this time he let me borrow his template so that I could put the knobs on the cabinet doors. My wife wanted to pick out her own knobs, so she left me with the task to do all those holes and I used Terrence's template so I could get them all the same. Terrence was extremely knowledgeable of how the homes are built, the features and the energy savings. I was pretty impressed with his work ethic and how and what he did. The home buying process with Clayton was fine overall, and my bills have been pretty good. Last month when we weren’t home as much, our electric bill was $107 and for this month, it's $160.

We got recommended to Clayton then we checked out different websites and what we could do on how we could customize our home. In the end, we went with Clayton Homes for the great price and affordability. My wife and I purchased a house from them about six months ago or so and we had a great experience with the company. We'd recommend it to other people, especially for how fast and reliable they were. We'd also recommend them for the quality of the product which came at a very reasonable price.
Clayton was very timely and organized. Initially, they told us about how they get their customers in the homes very quickly and easily after they find land and/or a lender. And once we got approved for our loan, we were in our home and decorating it. The rep at Clayton who assisted us was very good and professional, too. She helped us through the whole process and she had great knowledge. The store manager who was coming to our site every once in a while was good as well.
I love the quality of our home but whenever you build one, there are always little things here and there that you miss. Clayton had a site contractor come out who said that there were some staples that needed to be redone and that there was a board that was a little crooked. They were stuff that we didn't even know but they came out and double-checked. Then, a different contractor came out and fixed those things within weeks, which was really good. And they have a high-quality with their product and with fixing anything that needed to be fixed within my one year guarantee. All in all, I'm very satisfied with Clayton.

My previous home was destroyed in a hail storm. I found Clayton Homes on the internet and it took about five months before I got my new home from them. That was partly because I was out of town and it took about 16 weeks to build a home for construction. There were a couple of customization things I did to the home and they were able to take care of that. In the master bedroom, I didn't want the overall big old full tub and I wanted a big walk-in shower. The factory was able to accommodate me with something and I had a really good relationship with the reps at Clayton Homes in Wichita. They worked well with me. Also, I'm sure my new home is a lot more energy efficient than my previous mobile home.
But I was a little disappointed with getting somebody out in getting warranty work done. I live out quite a ways away from which tower I purchased the home which was built down in Bonham, Texas. Plus, the factory service representative wanted to do what he damn well pleased and expected me to accept his shoddy work. But I did not accept that at all and it took a couple of tries before the work was done to my satisfaction. Overall, I'm happy with my home but as far as its construction, there were things that needed to be changed in the factory.
Thank you so much for your feedback, Mark. It's very important for us to get this type of information from our customers so that we can work with our Home Building Facilities to better their processes. We'll be reviewing your feedback with our Bonham facility and with our Wichita location. Thank you again, and thank you for choosing Clayton!

I went out to Clayton Homes and told them I wanted to look at the townhouse. I liked the house that they got me set up in and bought it. The sales manager helped me decide whether to finance with a bank or to finance with one of their finance groups. The Clayton people were very nice and very knowledgeable. I already knew what I wanted when I went out there and I already knew what needed to be done to get a piece of property ready for that a couple of times. I already had that information, so they didn’t have to explain to me very much. They were very helpful as far as the process and how long it would take to be built and delivered. The price to build them only turned up on one part of the floor plan. That was complained and Clayton Homes made that right with me. They came out and put the home together and did an awesome job. It looked like a custom home when I started to move in.
I have had some issues with it since I've been living with it, but they’ve been fixed and repaired within a good time frame. I've also recommended them to plenty of different people. I've had lots of people come and look at my home, and people would email me wanting me to send them pictures. It was really great and the Clayton in Tulsa was really good to work with.
That's fabulous, Lylah! We appreciate you taking the time to share your experience with us! We looked at other home manufacturers, and we really liked Clayton Homes' salesman. He seemed really honest and wasn’t pushy. We met the owner of the company. He seemed fair, guaranteed everything and gave us cellphone numbers if we got any problems. The home came in within two months, but we weren’t ready for it yet because it was the dead of winter. The salesman kept it on their lot, then when we were ready, they were there. They were more than accommodating and we never had to use a cellphone to call. We've been in the house for less than a year and the overall quality is good so far. I’m just very satisfied with them and with the owner. They got the home in when they said it would be and kept us informed of everything. It’s a worthwhile purchase so far and I would definitely recommend them.
That's wonderful to hear, Kevin! Thank you so much for taking the time to share your experience with us. We're glad to hear you enjoyed working with your salesman and that you're happy with your home!

We were purchasing a home for my parents and we were looking around at different places. We ended up going down Sweetwater and we ended up at Clayton Homes down there. Everybody there was really good and worked well with us. They helped us get the best possible price we could for them and made sure everything was done well for them. They went above and beyond. If I had trouble finding somebody to do the extra stuff, they even helped me with that. So, it was a very, very positive experience.
The home that they set us up with for my parents has been a blessing and they’re really enjoying it. Everything seems really good and well-made. There were a few things that we called them for and they came out and tried to fix a lot of the stuff. They did a good job with that. The only part we hadn't got fixed yet is the flooring. The area where the vinyl met the carpet bumped up just a little bit but it's not that big of a deal. It wasn’t any real issue and everything else was very high-quality. Clayton Homes is a good place to go. They treat people fairly and they do a good job.
We love to hear that, Rebecca! Thank you for choosing Clayton for your parents, that means a lot to us. We also sincerely appreciate your feedback! We hope your parents continue enjoying their new home for many years to come! We're also going to follow up on that flooring issue you're still needing repaired.

I was in a pinch on the house I was in. It was going to be sold out from underneath me by the landlord. I’ve seen Clayton's showroom and I stopped in there to talk to them. I met with one of their sales representatives and told him what I was looking for. He showed me a couple of models and I picked one out. I knew what I needed and what I wanted, so I made his job really easy. Everything was really good in the beginning when I was picking everything out but it seemed like once financing got through, I couldn’t get answers on when the home would be ready to go and the communication kinda broke down towards the end.
I called and left several messages but it took two or three days to get called back. But all in all, I was able to make it into the home when I needed to be in it. I’m a superintendent for a construction company so I struggled with the finishes and I didn’t like some of the vinyl-wrapped drywall. It seems like it was just glued to the walls and there were no screws or anything holding it in. All the joints have that bead on the seams instead of an actual tape joint, so all the beads have a tendency to peel away from the drywall. It also looks like all of the trim pieces are falling off. Other than that, the home is good quality for the price. Clayton is a pretty reputable company and they seem to sell homes pretty quickly.
We sincerely appreciate your feedback, David. Thank you so much for taking the time to share your experience and thoughts with us. We're going to pass along your concerns with how communication seemed to fall off to the right parties and it will be used to help us better our processes! We're also going to forward the information you provided regarding the details of your house to your Home Building Facility as well. Thank you again for the positive review and feedback!

I went to several different mobile home places but it was Clayton Homes that I had a great experience with. I went to apply and there was a whole lot of papers to fill out but that was part of this. Tim was the one I bought the home from and he was very nice and helpful. Then there was a lady there, Amelia. She was the one who came, did the final walkthrough and helped me out with several things. Both of them were amazing. I am 77 years old and I did this by myself so the help they gave me meant a lot to me.
After I told Tim I wanted the home, they had to manufacture it and that took about four weeks. They built it and made the modifications that I wanted, which I never had a problem with. I got the home within the time that they said I would too. I only had a small couple of problems after they put it in and that was taken care of the same day I called them. I now live in a 3,000 square foot home in Fort Worth and I love everything about it. It’s everything I need and I can take care of this home. I am very happy and I have recommended a couple of people to Clayton Homes.

We were in need of a home and we searched around before we got to Clayton. Once we got in, we knew that I would be willing to go. The lady who assisted us was really helpful as it was our first time buying a home and she was especially willing to work with us with getting us the home we wanted. It was difficult picking out the home but the lady told us what would be in our price range and what we wanted. We picked a couple of them out and we ended up getting the home we wanted. Still, it took a while once we picked the house as we had to go through where we will finance it from. The lady worked with them and she would send the papers back. The home we got was off the lot and they just customized a couple of things for us. There has been a huge difference since living in our Clayton home. We got a light bill the other day and I was jumping with joy. So far, everything is good and we love it. We have referred a couple of people to Clayton.

When we looked at the floor plan layout of the mobile homes at Clayton Homes, we liked it. The laundry room had a big folding table with a big window in front of it and the kitchen had a big window over the kitchen sink. The laundry room has a place where you can put a stand-up freezer and there is a big walk-in pantry which my wife likes. There aren’t many that offered those kinds of deals, so we went with them. We have added propane or butane in our mobile home as my wife has a gas range and oven. She already had a nice one in the house she had and we moved it over there. We took the electric one out and they had propane run it through the floor in the living room. And within the next month or so, we'd add a gas log fireplace in there.
The process of buying our home wasn't easy though. The manager wouldn’t come down on the price but when he said that he would come down to 75, I put in a deposit. Then we went to the part of getting the loan application and there were about five times where we agreed on something but when it went to the one deal, it was different and I didn’t like that. I was ready to back out on the deal when he sat down and gave me something that I wanted and it finally worked out. Other than that, the home consultant I worked with did well and she was good at explaining everything that I was signing. So far, we had a little leak in the roof and they sent somebody out and patched that up right away. They even had to come back and replace a few shingles. Something had happened to some shingles and was letting the water come in. It was dripping through the smoke alarm and the person they sent out replaced the smoke alarm, too.
Terry, we appreciate your detailed feedback. Thank you so much for taking the time to tell us about your home buying process and your home. I have always heard that Clayton Homes build a good home. I've also heard of the fly-by-night ones so I figured that going with Clayton Homes would be the best route to go since they've been around for a long time. My interactions with the home consultant were good. We had about 30-35 mile an hour winds, which wasn't that big a deal, and it blew my vinyl siding on the trailer out in a couple of spots. I went out and tried to get it to snap that night. I went out the next day and I finally got it to snap and back into place. If the next wind comes through, it's gonna blow it all again. I was concerned about that because I don't want the water and the rain to get in behind it. I called Clayton about it and they said, "We will call you next week," but they never did. Other than that, everything else seemed to be working good.
Anthony, we appreciate your feedback. We're glad to hear the your interactions with your home consultant were good. However, we're going to look into that issue with your siding and someone will be in touch with you.

My sales guy was good and Melvin, the owner, was fantastic to work with. He had seen that everything got done. I have bought other trailers before but the serviceman in Corbin was fantastic. I had drywall issues and with some sinks. I had some problem with the linoleum and they left some wood and stuff underneath it and they fixed it. We upgraded the siding of our home and put a 5-foot pitched roof on it. We put 9-foot ceilings on it. So far, I have noticed big time savings in our bills. My wife and I tried to buy a home years ago but I changed my mind. The lady that I worked for bought a home and used it as an office. She recommended Clayton Homes. We went to a lot of different manufacturers and a lot of them wanted either me or my wife to put down half of what the home cost. We were in a credit rebuilding process and Clayton worked with us through that.
The home buying took me about six months. We were putting on a family property and we came up with an idea of getting a 911 address. When we told Clayton about it and they pressured us to give that to them too before they would come out and send the home. In the end, it took us through traveling a bit back and forth and getting the paper signed. Once that was done, we had to go get the paper re-signed. They were confused about who was supposed to sign the papers.
Also, there are some things that need to be repaired and we haven't gotten them done yet. Every time a certain guy comes out, he seems to be in a hurry. My wife says he didn’t fix everything. He called a few weeks back stating he would come back and make an appointment. But we were heading out of town and we couldn’t get that appointment. Other than that, the Clayton staff were very good. So far, the home is great and we have lower bills. I have recommended Clayton.
Thank you so much for the detailed and honest feedback, Lewis! This type of information is very valuable to us and can help us better our processes. We're going to follow up on the repairs you're still needing and then we'll be in touch!

My fiance and I bought a house from this company just this year. Problems started from the very beginning when we set up an appointment after getting preapproved only to arrive and find out that we had been double booked. We told the associate that we wanted a land/home package outside of Bradley County to which she promptly gave us the phone number of someone selling land inside Bradley county. The process was started in February and we didn't sign the final paperwork until August 2nd. At that time, we were given a tentative completion date of 9-30 barring any acts of God or anything outside the control of the contractor. It rained the first two weeks so nothing could get done and when work began, it seemed to move quickly until it was time to move the house onto the property.
Then, the day that it was supposed to be delivered, the delivery driver had the flu. They "attempted" to contact this same delivery driver for two weeks to reschedule the installation with no success as he wasn't answering his phone. After two weeks, I was told that some more trees had to taken down from the property and a special machine had to be used to get the house installed. This led to another two week delay because they said there were only two available in the area. Once installed, the house sat for a couple of weeks before any work was done to it. My fiance called daily (the house is in her name) and was told that as soon as the crew finished the current job they would be out there to finish up everything and was told by one representative that the finishing would only take two days max.
Work did start but was often stopped and left for several days before anyone came back to finish it. My fiance called to complain and was told the same thing, that the house was at the top of the list and would be completed first thing. By this time, it was past the tentative finishing date. Corporate was called and said that they would look into the situation because we felt that the contractors were being mismanaged. I mean, who ever heard of contractors who didn't show up until noon and then left before completing a project. Two weeks later, corporate told us that there was nothing that they could do unless Clayton's of Cleveland admitted fault and agreed to do something.
Our representative assured us that they weren't deliberately holding up the construction on our home even though we were complaining that the crews had been mismanaged not that it was a deliberate act and told us that the hold up for a lot of things were FHA inspections such as a compaction test (which is supposed to be done before the house is placed). Finally, on Nov. 1 we were given the keys to our home. The stucco on both ends didn't meet the vinyl which was eventually fixed, there is a crack in the ceiling in the kitchen, there is a gap between the tub surround and the wall in the master bathroom that no one has showed back up to repair, and one of the bedrooms doors wouldn't latch which we eventually fixed on our own.
In addition to this, there are building supplies which have been left in our home that we were told were supposed to be for another house and are still in our home two weeks later because they haven't been picked up. All in all, we are glad to have our new home but we don't believe anyone should deal with this company ever. You will be in for a lot of stress and corporate is completely useless to help with the issues. Also, have called to see when the building material is supposed to be retrieved after three weeks and we cannot get through to the office, it says that no one is available to take a call and that we should leave a message. And, for the Clayton's employee who will be looking over this review, my fiance's names is Cassie ** so you can verify that I am an actual customer.

The reps were very polite, very courteous, explained how everything was and how it would feel. I liked my mobile home just the way it was when I got it. It is a lot more efficient than my old home. The utility bill is a lot cheaper and a lot more reasonable.
I have a complaint but it’s not that important. When they came and repaired the things that needed to be touched up in the home, there were a couple of things that they said they were gonna order, and I’ve never heard from them again. It’s very simple stuff. My blinds in my kitchen kept falling apart and they won’t stay up. Also my front door had a couple of scratches, and the screen fell off. I would try to push it up to make it stay and it would just roll off. So I went ahead and took the screen off because it looks so bad. The window also has scratches on it. I showed them to him and the guy from Clayton said the company would take care of it. But he was very good and efficient. He worked the whole time he was there. Overall, Clayton has done well.

A year back, my ex-girlfriend and I were looking around new houses and we stumbled upon Clayton Homes online. At that time, nothing had specifically stood out because we were still looking at different floor plans from different houses and the way each place was put together. The way the house was built and the materials that were used in the project is a big deciding factor as to what I was looking for. I decided to go with Clayton Homes. This is the first home I had purchased and the process for me wasn't too difficult, but there were points were the process was taking so long, wherein I've resubmitted papers three or four different times and I have to resubmit them again.
Overall, it took five to six months for the process of getting all the paperwork and another two months for the finishing touches. I was in the home before all the finishing touches were done. It was just small things like the piece of trim needed to be touched up because when it was moved in, they got caught by a tree branch. Their reps were all friendly and nice. It was just the bureaucracy in the paperwork that was my big complaint. I would recommend Clayton Homes.
Thank you so much for that feedback, Jeff. We're glad to hear things went well other than some delays with the paperwork. We'll definitely pass along that information and use it to better our processes. Congratulations on your new home!

Hello. We own a 2010 home. There are so many issues with this house. Let's start. First issue we had, the heating/cooling ducts were not secured properly and have left gaps under the house where wildlife gets in and air escapes. Second, all the bathrooms are wired into one breaker. Third, the outlets are literally just hanging in the panel board. Not screwed down or anything. Fourth, the pantry has 4 wired running into the light switch. It was sparking and almost caught the wall on fire. We caught that one and had the CORRECT light switch installed.
Fifth, the smoke director's wires are not properly covers. Discovered those sparking and setting off the detectors. So there is another expense for us. Next is the fact that they have random walls in the house wired wherever they felt like that day. Also the light switches are poorly wired. Half the time our lights do not work due to the wiring being messed up. We have to have the while house rewired for fear of it burning down.
Now that we got through the obvious electrical issues on to other things. There is no insulation between the outside walls and the interior walls. The hinges on the doors are soft metal that breaks of it encounters the slightest resistance when closing. Like say a sock or stuffed toy. The overhead fans are poorly installed and we have to reanchor them. There is no calking around the tubs. There is no waterproof baseboards in the bathrooms. If you have a water spill in the bathroom it seeps under the wall, into the next room and into the carpet. Ruined walls, ruined carpet, poorly designed bathrooms.
Another thing. The ceilings, NOT EVEN PAINTED! They just textured them and walked away. If you live in a high humidity state, or have a large family the bathroom celings WILL MOLD! You have to take down an entire wall to access the water heater. Also we have a room where the support braces are just 2x4s glued together, stacked on top of each other.
Overall just a poorly built home. Shoddy construction. Heater vents thrown in the middle of the floors so only one way to arrange the room. I will never recommend these homes to anyone. It has been a money pit. We will never buy another Clayton home. Please please look elsewhere. These homes are overpriced, poorly built and a fire hazard. This company should be investigated for the poor construction and electrical work.

We went to Appalachia one day and she took me to Clayton Homes. I liked the style of the home they had. We looked at a couple homes at another place, but they are nothing like my home with Clayton. I ordered the home from a factory and I changed a couple of things in it like the shower in the master bath which was very small. I wanted a large shower. I placed the order in December and put the money down on the home. In January, I sent in the final payment and I moved in here on March 29.
The house is very well insulated and the quality is excellent. My power bills are so low which I just can’t believe. My husband and I were looking for a place and we were trying to find something as quick as possible because we were living with family. I was going through Facebook and saw a trailer. I told my husband about it and gave him the number of the guy from Clayton Homes. He informed us of a few different trailers that he had around the area. We went and looked at them and we picked one over here at Oak Crest. After we picked it, we went up there, talked to him, tried to get approved, but we didn’t get approved for that amount. We got approved for a lower amount. So, we came home, I started looking online for trailers and I found one that we really liked. I asked them if we could make it work and then we continued with the process. It was pretty quick. The rep made everything really, really easy. He gave us his cellphone number and told us to just let him know if we had any questions.
We love our home, but there has been a few things that we’ve noticed. It seems like one side of our house is higher than the other, like it wasn’t leveled. But it could be because we’re not on a concrete foundation. Also, one side of our house stays cooler than the other. So, the side where our laundry room and our kitchen is stays cold, but the side with the bedroom is not. That’s one thing that’s upsetting about it. We’ve met somebody in the neighborhood that bought from Clayton too and we’ve gone and hung out at her house, and my husband and I felt like our home was just thrown together as quick as it could’ve been. It's like her house is Michael Kors, and we went to Walmart and grabbed a purse.
All of her cabinets have shelves in them, they’re all finished and the insides are all soft and smooth. We have shelves in our top cabinet, but in our bottom cabinets there aren’t any. I also had to go buy the sticky liner to put inside of our doors and cabinets because it looked like pressed particle board was just thrown in there. But I recommend Clayton Homes to people. I’ve seen several of their homes and they are great homes. It was just looking at ours and at a friend's house, and we saw the little differences. There could’ve been some extra finishing touches done on this home.

We saw Clayton Homes' home center from the highway and we stopped on our own, went in, and looked around. We like their people, the salesmen and the manager named Jason. They were more hospitable and took care of our needs the way we needed them taken care of. They listened to us and didn't try to sell us into a house we couldn't afford. The total home buying experience was quick. We went in and took our money in. About a week later, they were out here digging and the house was here in three weeks. They all were waiting on the water company longer than we're waiting on anybody.
But once they got out here, they got it set up real quick. They went through it, checked everything and fixed the little molding. I got free gutters and free gravel because I had some money left over. Jason called and asked what did we want to be with it, and that's what we picked. The total buying experience took more than six weeks. We love the quality of our new home. The home buying process with them was wonderful. They helped us. After we got our house and got moved in, they always have little things that show up and they were out here right away and fixed it. They were a delight to work with. Bryan and Jason went above and beyond on helping us get our house and get us on a house payment we can afford. Both of them did an outstanding job. We love Clayton Homes because we had been so satisfied and comfortable in our house. It has been a blessing.
We loved reading about your home buying experience, Rebecca! Thank you so much for taking the time to share with us. We're thrilled to hear that Bryan & Jason went above and beyond for you! We'll be sure to pass along your kind words. Congratulations on your new home!

We were living with my husband's parents and we decided we needed to move out. However, we didn’t wanna do an apartment or a house. We also didn't want to have a humungous house payment. We knew that going with Clayton Homes and doing a trailer with them was going to be the cheaper route because we already had the land. Their home buying process was easy. Once we turned in our application, the rep worked super hard to find us a home that would be perfect for us. I didn't want anything less than a three-bedroom home and she found one that was in our price budget. Once that home was delivered to Clayton Homes, we put the money down and we signed all the papers.
The home consultant, Janna, was great. She had come out to make sure that everything was good. There was a couple of times that she had come out just to make sure that our building permits were here. If I needed anything, I could always text her and she replied within minutes. She was an amazing salesperson and I loved it. They had to order the trailer in December and it got there in February. They delivered it in March and we moved in around the beginning of May with all the inspections and with the electricity needing to be turned on. The trailer came with a refrigerator, dishwasher, and a stove. We loved it from the minute we walked into it.
My husband's parents live right beside us and their bills are more than ours. Ours is way less than theirs, although they are not even home all the time. We have awesome savings and I can tell the difference in the electricity. I would recommend Clayton Homes to absolutely anybody. They did such an amazing job and were very patient. Nothing was ever too much of a question. Anytime anything new happened, they would always let us know. It was an awesome experience. If we ever decide to upgrade our trailer in the next couple of years or if we try to trade in our trailer, I’m going back to the same exact place.
Thank you SO much for the detailed feedback and kind words, Melissa. We're so glad to know that everything went so well for you. It's great to know that you enjoyed working with Janna and that she went above and beyond for you. We'll be sure to pass along your kind words to her team! Over a period of 4 months while living out of state we communicated via email. The sales rep was asked numerous times in writing to make sure to include ALL Fees associated with having a home delivered and set up in Terra Mar in Edgewater Florida. We were "Guaranteed" it would not exceed $15,000 for the entire process. Having never purchased a manufactured home we relied on his expertise, BIG MISTAKE! The actual fees exceeded $46,000. Which included some government fees which we understand but these all should have been disclosed.
Here is the best part. Just got a voice mail from the rep now handling this via his General manager. Their answer to solve problem "buy a cheaper single wide" instead of the double wide we had picked out so our numbers would line up... Wow. Unfortunately our only recourse is to let people know to steer clear of this company... BAD BUSINESS.

My home broke down after the Hurricane Harvey and so I was in need of another one. I was looking for a used home, however, there wasn't any and everybody had gotten damages from the hurricane. Also, we were looking in the Houston area and nobody had one that I could afford. My daughter and I drove by Clayton Homes and met David. He was very nice, helpful, and constantly kept in touch with me. And even now, whenever I have something that I’m not satisfied with, I would just call him and get him pictures, and he would try to make stuff happen by me, ‘cause I do have to work. I even had some problems but they would take care of it.
The house is a little bit different from the home that I had. It could have been a little bit bigger, as well as the cabinet space. My other home had a pantry and this one doesn't have. However, the house is very efficient on my light bill. I haven’t had a high light bill since I’ve been here. In my old home, my light bill stayed almost at $370. I felt like I got a good deal from Clayton. I live in a flood zone and I got the house put up to the height that I needed. I got my porch put on, skirting, and all of that. I like my house.
We're so happy to hear that you like your home, Marjorie! Thank you so much for taking the time to share your feedback with us. When we decided to start looking at mobile homes, we looked everywhere that was close and Clayton Homes had a clean lot overall. They had very nice, helpful, kind and very welcoming people. They had what we were looking for, which was at a good price right off the bat. We continued to look after that, but compared back everywhere we went to Clayton, which stayed on the top of our list.
We had several consultations with Clayton's reps, talking about different things and it all went fine. They explained how the homes were built and how they were insulated. They told me everything I needed to know and I haven't run into any surprises. I didn’t feel misled on anything or any kind of high-pressure sales. They answered our questions and told us stuff that we hadn't thought to ask about yet. Working with their people there, we were really pleased from start to finish.
We got the home we wanted and, as it turned out, we also dealt with a good local business. We've had the home for less than a year, but so far, we're very pleased with it. I'd tell friends to go to Hot Springs and see if Clayton has a home that they want and that they'll feel good about dealing with the people there. I'd also tell them that they can trust Clayton.
We're so thrilled to hear that everything went so well, Jeff! Thank you so much for taking the time to share your experience with us. I was gonna stop and take a look at some of the homes in Kentucky that were on the lot and I didn’t see anything there that I wanted to buy. When I went back home to Ohio and went to another lot, I talked to one of Clayton Homes' sales representatives there and they told me that they could custom-build me one. I started out in Marion, Ohio but it was then put in in West Virginia so they switched me over to another manager, Rich, from Barboursville, West Virginia. He's worked with me intensively in getting everything the way I wanted it. I bought the home and paid cash for it up front so I was pretty particular about what I wanted.
I had a full fireplace put in the living room and a half fireplace put in the den. I had the living room, the den, four bedrooms, and everything with laminate wood flooring. I also upgraded switches, roofing, insulation, colors, the cabinetry, the kitchen, stainless steel appliances and everything that I could get. I was pretty adamant about the building's construction process. Whenever I asked for certain things, their rep was on the phone, back and forth with the factory reps to see if what I wanted could be done. It was about the six-inch outer walls, the thicker, better floor joists, and the energy-saving insulation.
I'm satisfied with my new home other than a little bit of finish up work they have to do. I've got a cracked window that's gotta be replaced and they ran out of some of my baseboard. It's small details and nothing major. I'm really happy with my new home because of the help and the information, plus they let me get on and take a factory tour while it was being built which was great. It's like a model home. When we get set up here, I'll probably even have people come in and be able to look at it.
Wow! That's so great to hear, Mark! We're so glad to hear that Rich and our Barboursville team was able to take such good care of you! It's great that you were able to customize your home and get it to be just exactly what you wanted and needed. How neat that you also got to tour a facility, aren't they impressive? We'll follow up on the repairs you're still needing and someone will be in touch. Congratulations on your new home!

My brother-in-law was going through Clayton Homes and he recommended them to us. Our home consultant, Cindy, was great and knowledgeable. She helped us find the home that really fit our budget and that was right for the size. We originally picked out a home and after we got everything back, she helped us figure out which home was really best for us, and we didn't have any trouble at all. Everything has been fine as far as the quality. We had a breaker issue and another issue with the actual manufacturer, True Homes, but they were quick to fix it.
The only negative thing with Clayton Homes is the timeframe, but that’s just how it works. You can’t buy a home in 48 hours, which would be nice, but Clayton Homes was always ready to take the phone call and answer any questions that we had. When I walked in, Cindy was always available for me. She would always get right back to me in a phone call, usually the same day unless she had to wait on somebody else to get something. Also, it was nice having a personal touch. In her interactions with our family and kids, she really got everything memorized, so it was nice. She handled herself very well. I had no bad experience with Clayton and I would definitely recommend them.
We're so glad to hear that you enjoyed working with Cindy! It's great to know that your home buying experience went smoothly and that she was right there by your side throughout the process. I like doing that instead of going through the door, signing the application and being pushed over. My home consultant had a good sense of humor and he played but when I told him to get to business, he got to the business.
I really liked that Clayton Homes explained the installation really well. If I had any questions, I just asked them. If I didn’t understand what they were talking about, they stopped and explained to me exactly what they were talking about further on. Working with Clayton Homes made everything a lot easier. I've known Clayton Homes for a long time and because they have what I liked on the lot and the price is right, I have decided to go with them. The reps have been good and they've tried to keep up with all the customers and their requests. It's a very big job but they're doing their best. I worked with a rep and I would tell him what my problems were and he would resolve everything. He told me that he was gonna be with me through the whole process from beginning to end but I felt like he got sidetracked with so many other customers and so many other deals. I had to talk to whoever answered the phone and I didn't have any one person who followed me all the way through.
Now, I am given the electrician who also does a lot of work. I talked with him the most than he did doing official work for me 'cause there wasn't a lot of problems and the home was up to snuff. I also dealt with someone who works for Clayton who hired a guy and left him here to do a job that he couldn't do right. He also told me he was gonna get back to me in two weeks but he didn't. I have to persuade him to come on and get the work done as soon as possible.
I'm satisfied with the overall home buying process. My daughter had a terrible deal with one individual so that made me really appreciate Clayton more because I can see that they were really there for me more than they were for her. They're all trustworthy and honest people and that's all I can ask for. They're dedicated to treating people right and trying to put them in a satisfactory home. Overall, my experience with them has been good.

Original Review: Nov. 4, 2018
Updated on 11/07/2018: We went out to our home this morning and 2 men were there getting ready to install the siding. YAY (sarcasm). Went in the house to do another 'walk thru' and those men wore their muddy shoes into my new home and on my new carpet. The 'trim' guy who was there the day before did not finish, he lacked one little piece of strip on the carpet at the bathroom door, HOWEVER he left a HUGE lump in the middle of the hallway floor. Has to be redone, no question. He 'repaired' the crack in the living room ceiling but the crack is still there.
The closets were left HORRIBLY undone and just plain unpainted and definitely NOT what we picked out for our walls. The kitchen cabinets are uneven and missing pieces so that it looks like they took OLD cabinets out of someone else home and put them in ours. My husband text Nate (manager of Clayton Homes in Cleveland TN) requesting a meeting at our home and Nate's response was that he would call my husband in tomorrow.
The siding guys were off on the left side about 3-4" HOW DOES THAT HAPPEN? the home is level, they also didn't complete the job and left a giant spot uncovered. I tried to call the lady who called us yesterday and report all of this but reached a department that had nothing to do with this review or the follow up call I did receive. One call. If I can upload all of these pictures, I will. Someone needs to see this... I'm at the point of no return on this.
Updated on 11/06/2018 : It got worse!!!! After my initial review I received a call, promised a callback today and NOTHING. We were able to walk into our home and look it over and OMG it’s a complete disaster! Unfinished closets, missing strips, nicks, dings, someone destroyed my kitchen sink and the only other ones in there were trim and set up guys. The kitchen cabinets look like some kind of paper was stuck to them and not a good job at all doing it, where the busted pieces off of it they tried to paint/color over to hide it.
A huge crack in the ceiling, shower door won’t close, bedroom door don’t close, bathroom door won’t close. Sliding glass is off so bad you can’t latch or lock it. Something has stained my kitchen floor and there are scuffs on the wall. Trim crew wore muddy shoes in my house...filthy carpets to add. And the siding was started today and it’s so unlevel it’s shameful! The floors squeak and pop like crazy. Oh and the caulking??? OMG. A kid could’ve done a better job. I’m beyond upset now!
Original: Hello. This is our experience, still in progress: In August 2018 my husband settled a personal injury case and we had cash to pay for a home. We chose Clayton Homes in Cleveland, Tn because it was close to us. We visited several lots/homes and chose a Tradition 52B. We paid CASH in full for this home and during this whole process we heard from realtors and past customers that Clayton Homes would set your home on your property and leave it for months. I did not believe it. Man... did they make a believer out of me!
The sales rep was sometimes borderline rude when asking questions about our home, she once told me to tell the contractor to 'not worry about when the house was going to be on the lot, she'd let us know' then said 2-3 weeks. The home arrived the very next day. After we had the pad finished, we had PERFECT sunny weather for 9 days straight. Then it rained hard for 2 solid days. Guess when they brought the home out? That's right, in the slop and mud and set it there, ruining a section of our pad (it was solid mud at this point) and messing up the yard we'd already put grass seed on.
Fast forward (joke) to last week, they came out... When? Of course, the day after it stormed and set the front side of the house on blocks. DESTROYING our driveway and the side yard. We spent 1,000 on rock and another 250.00 in paid labor to help get it the way we wanted and now I can't get my Camaro down my OWN driveway. NO ONE has said a peep about fixing it either. Two days later they were out to attach the other half and block it up. That was LAST Monday, 10/29/2018 and the trimmers FINALLY came out Friday 11/2/2018 after 3 p.m. (when we were told, promised even, that they would be there 10/30/2018) and did very little work and they disappeared. No one showed up over the weekend at all.
ALL this time I was in constant contact with our sales rep. She told us everything we wanted to hear and then finally told us that they only have but ONE (1) crew to set up and ONE (1) crew to trim and more homes than just ours to construct. This was NOT what we expected as we were told after our home was on our property that it would be 2-3 weeks at the most and then we could move in. We've paid RENT 3 months now that we've owned a paid in full home, if you think for one second this is 'okay' and 'good business' yall are WRONG. At the VERY least I want my driveway FIXED so I can drive my car in and out. We don't have the money to invest in it again. Yall ought to be ashamed. Seriously.
Also, there is a HUGE popping sound walking from the kitchen into the master bedroom and I bet it's not fixed, along with the HUGE crack in the ceiling. Clayton homes are beautiful. Clayton Homes reps are no better than a used car salesman. Clayton Homes reps will tell you exactly what you want to hear UP to the day your home is set on your property. Then they don't give a care. Clayton Homes destroys your drive and yard and doesn't care. Clayton Homes can't keep contractors employed for some unknown reason. Clayton Homes needs to pay me 500.00 or fix my driveway. Clayton Homes needs to pay me at least 650.00 for 2 months rent (prorated) I should not have had to pay. Let's see if I get the typical "We're sorry" response...

There's a Clayton Homes dealership right down the road from my office, and I had seen the mobile home over there. I went in there and told the salesman what I needed, and he said, "I've got what you need." We went out and looked at it. It had a handicapped-accessible bathroom and a walk-in shower, which were two of the things I was looking for. He was very knowledgeable. He knew what he could do and what his bosses will do or allow him to do as far as pricing is concerned. I couldn’t have asked for a better fellow to work with. The process was streamlined and as painless as it could be.
I bought the home for my mother-in-law who is 90, and we had to have it pre-built and the power running, and the sewer system installed. From start to finish, it took a month but 95% of that was my time as opposed to theirs. Clayton had the house in stock and they were ready to deliver it the next day after we paid for it, but I wasn’t ready for it. They left it sitting out on the lot, and when I was ready, I called them and they delivered it the next day.
Thank you so much for taking the time to share your feedback with us, Robin! We're so glad to hear that your home buying experience went so smoothly and that you were able to get exactly what your mother in law needed.

Thank you so much for your compliments, Elbert! We love that you love your home! We're also very flattered that you've sent a couple people to us, thank you! Congratulations on your new house!

We had a double lot on our property and, after the hurricane, we were able to pull it out and pay cash for a home to replace the one we had. We were going with a different company but the lady we were dealing with was terrible. And so, we ended up going with Clayton, where everybody that we met was wonderful. Our salesperson was David and their head was Drex, and they hooked us up with their thing. However, they should be a bit more informative upfront and have a list for the homeowners with everything that has to be done like getting water and the permit. Not having bought a mobile home before, we got the trailer and moved, and then a constable knocked on my door and told me that my house was too close to the road and it was not permitted.
I love my five-bedroom Clayton home and the people at Clayton were really good to get out there and put the wood siding awning then get it painted to match the house. However, we haven't been able to get anything fixed. I got places on the floor that creaks, the master bathroom shower feels bumpy and the beam across the ceiling that holds the fan is starting to bow. They told me to make a whole list of things that were damaged. There are a million things, though, and I would have been happy if they would come and check it.
Clayton's service department, where Jennifer is concerned, has been terrible. When we first moved in, I made a list, and there was a hole in the bottom of the main hallway. It was there before we moved, and I was told it would be fixed. They’ve come out five times, but they never brought sheetrock and never got that hole fixed. We also had a crack in the ceiling that went through the whole length of the dining room. They fixed that one but it caused another hairline crack so I sent some pictures and I got nothing done. The front screen door was broken as well and they got it working, but I was told that it was going to be replaced. And then, the trim on all my windows are busted up. We're supposed to seal the windows and I told them that I was fixing to call somebody else for that. One time, I had rain running in there. After the hurricane, I know what the water did to my other house and I don’t want that.
They couldn’t install the carpet in the back, too. They ordered a piece but it wasn’t big enough. They said that they’re gonna replace the square in the middle, but then the hallway would have two different carpets. They never fixed that and I still don’t have my carpet in the hallway. I also have to keep a runner on top of the seam in the back between the three bedrooms because it won’t seal. Maybe the steamer was too hot when they tried to seal it or it got too stretched. But actually, I think the carpet was on the showroom and was walked on enough. Some of those carpets look a little worn, but it’s fine.
Also, they damaged the eave when they put it together. They came to fix it but they never put the 45 up there to seal the roof on each side. So, that was open. Then they kept sending people to fix something, but they had no equipment. They came out five times and it took around four months before they fixed it. They also told me that they didn’t have any supplies in when they came out to fix my ceiling. They put in old and rotty insulation up there, which I am not happy about. They were supposed to be out like a month ago and they never showed up, and they didn’t even call. My husband is frustrated about that as well. These are issues with whoever is doing the organizing and getting people out to fix nothing.
The service department is making Clayton look bad. They say a lot of things but they don’t get anything done. And though Drex is on top of it, if he can't tell his sales people to make sure this gets done and he doesn’t make sure it gets done, then something is wrong with the service team. Overall, I love my trailer. I just wish they'll fix the things they said they would.

We were right next to Clayton Homes where we used to live and when our contract was gonna end, we ended up with them. They already had a home set up and they would also set up the destination. I was satisfied with the buying process and I haven't had any problems. All the people who worked there helped me out to get everything settled down. They updated me in every way when I was trying to get everything situated and I have no complaints. The quality of my home is good and I love it.
Thank you for letting us know, Edwin! We love hearing that your home buying experience went so well and that you have no complaints! Congratulations on the new house!

We ordered our home in June 2017 from Clayton Homes of Cookeville TN, signed the paperwork on 7-14-17 and it was delivered to our property in August 2017. We moved in on 8-31-17. It went downhill from there. We had several small issues that needed to be repaired/replaced including bubbles in the ceiling, exterior doors not sealing properly when closed, dishwasher not secured properly, interior doors not closing properly and some minor other stuff, but all was fixed. Mind you, all repairs done by Clayton Home's contractors. EVERY contractor left their garbage including nails and screws in our driveway and around our house. Each time a contractor came to repair something, I was left to clean up their mess for an hour or more.
Then the first major issue. The roof cap blew off - completely. It was found that the contractor did not put it on properly. It was fixed in about a week. Second major issue. The skirting blew out in several places - both sides and the back of the house. It was found that the contractor did not install it properly or secure it. This was "repaired". The skirting blew out again. It is still not repaired. Third major issue. The siding had major bubbles in it between windows on the front and the back of the house. This was "repaired" twice. The siding on the front of the house still has major bubbles. It looks like a drunk person put it up while on a boat in major tidal waves.
Fourth and worst issue of all. We have been having a major dust and dirt problem in our house. We dusted, swept, and mopped twice a week, and it still looked like we hadn't cleaned for months. My husband, who rarely gets sick, has been sick 3 times this year. The last time, putting him in the hospital for 9 days with double pneumonia - 6 of those days were spent in the ICU. I myself, rarely get sick, until now. I have had respiratory problems for over a month now. Coughing constantly, having a hard time breathing and unable to sleep well due is my life right now. Our 1 year old grandson develops allergies and a skin rash when he comes over to our house. Our daughter's asthma intensifies when she is here. Our son-in-law also has allergy problems when visiting. My 13 year old son gets sick with a cold or allergies every time he is at our house.
We had an HVAC professional come to our house on to 10-30-18 to look over the HVAC unit and entire system. He found the ends of the ductwork (4 total) to all have damage. There were holes, rips, tears in all of them. It was letting all the dirt, dust, bacteria and mold into our home. There was a hole in the floor under the inside unit where dust and dirt was coming in. It didn't matter what kind of air filter we had, because the dirt is just bypassing it. The outside main unit was only placed on a plastic platform without having a rock base. Our whole HVAC unit was trash, and we are getting sick because of it.
Now this is harsh. The same day we had the HVAC look at our system, we contacted Clayton Homes of Cookeville. This is serious. The is affecting our HEALTH! We were told they would come out and look at the skirting and the siding and see what could be done. Huh? What about the HVAC system? Was no one going to help us with the issues causing us respiratory and skin problems? We sent pictures that the HVAC pro took that clearly showed extreme excessive dust and damage to the ductwork. The HVAC pro even talked with Chris ** at Clayton Homes of Cookeville and TOLD HIM HOW BAD IT WAS AND HOW IT IS AFFECTING OUR HEALTH! On 10-31-18, Chris ** told us he sent all the pics and emails from us to the manufacturer and they would contact us. Chris told us he himself and his service manager would come out and look at the siding and the skirting the following day.
Today, 11-01-18, only Chris came out to look at the siding and skirting. I showed him all the areas of the skirting that was blown out. He said it just needed to be replaced. I TOLD HIM it ALL needed to be tore out and redone, because the first 2 times it wasn't done right! It will not hold if it isn't secured properly. He did not say a word about that. Then I showed him the siding on the front of the house where there were still bubbles and waves. He said the original "repair" was to the back of the house. I corrected him and said "no, this is the repair job your contractors did TWICE!" I told Chris that it needed to be taken down and redone for a 3rd time!
Fast forward to the afternoon. My husband received a call from the service manufacturer from Appalachian. He told my husband he received the pics and the "damage wasn't that bad". Are you kidding me! We are breathing in copious amounts of dust, dirt, bacteria and mold each and every day! My husband asked that he contact me, since I was at home. My husband gave him my cell phone number and the house phone number. The name of the service manager at Appalachian is Jerry ** by the way. So I waited an hour and didn't receive a call from Jerry, so I called him. No answer, so I left a voicemail. Jerry still has not contacted me. So here I am, deep cleaning my house again with a mask on, hoping that I can get enough dirt and dust out of our home. It takes 6+ hours just to clean the main living areas.
I am not waiting to die from suffocation of this nasty home because some jerk from the manufacturer and another jerk from Clayton Homes decides when they should "do something" about their major screw ups. So, here is the bottom line. If you have already bought a home from Clayton Homes, check your HVAC system including the ductwork. If you are thinking about buying a home, go somewhere else. So far, Clayton Homes of Cookeville and Appalachian will not make this right...until a judge tells them. I'm not waiting to be diagnosed with COPD or having to bury my husband due to double pneumonia. You aren't worth it!

Our home was paid in cash, a home that is over $100K. The house was delivered back in October 28, 2017. Yes, that was a year ago and guess what, the house is not 100% done. We had the Texas Housing Department involved and made a claim to BBB but still waiting. When can someone come and complete this house. They keep saying that we will have someone. Last time they said in 3 weeks they will send someone and that was 2 months ago? We even have the corporate office involved but still nothing. My suggestion is that if you guys are short in manpower, do not sell the homes yet! Complete the houses that are pending. I have talked to someone who also bought a home from you who is still waiting after a year.
Please, try to think, if this is your home, what are you gonna do? We are all customers by the end of the day and why are we treated this way? We have always been patient, so patient by I don't why this house has not been finished 100%. I know you guys are probably tired of hearing our complaints but you also have to think that we are the customer and we feel worse than what you do. I will get the housing department involved again here in the state and this time I will send a letter to the capital in Washington. There is a room here now that is painted with totally different shades and it is a mess. No one has came back since May. I just could not believe that we are treated this way.

I like Clayton Home's decor and they've done just about everything to the date that they told they would. The whole home buying process took about three months. I had to buy this property from a man in Michigan, so they were a little held up with getting everything straightened out. But after we took the home out, things went well. I'm very well satisfied with it. When something went wrong, the home consultant came right out here within a day or two and fixed it. I'm also gonna have to call him back to have my sink checked and some shingles have popped up here a little bit. I noticed that when it's warm, they pop up, and when it's cold, they lie back down. Also, Clayton Homes sliced my electric bill with about $20. I'd recommend them to anybody.
That's great to hear, Berry! Thank you so much for taking the time to let us know about your home and home buying experience! We're going to follow up on your shingle issue as well and then we'll be in touch with you. Congratulations on your new house!

The people that I met at Clayton Homes were nice. The home consultant that I worked with treated me so nicely. Her name is Lenny and she took her time out with me. She explained things, broke it all down because I told her to slow down since it was kind of hard to understand. She also showed me around the house and when I looked at the mobile home, I liked it. She kept in touch with me through it all, and she made sure I did everything and understood her. So far, I feel that the house was a blessing from God. I love how it’s beautiful-looking inside, and how it looks on the outside. I enjoy my home, and I love it.

We bought a house from Clayton Homes about six years ago, and it caught on fire December of last year so we just went back and bought another one. They worked hard with us. We didn’t have all that much credit when we bought our first, and they really busted their ** to put us in a house and it's quality home. I said, “Well, if we ever need another one, we'll be back.” We didn’t wanna lose our house or have to go back to them, but they really worked hard. John of Clayton Homes did excellent job and had answered all of our questions. We bought a double-wide instead of single-wide and we love it. It's a lot bigger, better and efficient. They also said our electric bill shouldn’t be too high. I would recommend Clayton.
We sincerely appreciate your kind words, Mark! We are so sorry to hear that you lost your first home to a fire, but we are so grateful that you came back to Clayton to help your family rebuild. Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us. Congratulations on your new home!

We looked around in Hattiesburg first 'cause they have a Clayton Home, and then we went down to the Gulfport where there was a Clayton Home too. One of our friends from work recommended going to McComb, and we went there and met with the consultant who helped move the process right along and find a home that we wanted in the price range that we wanted. She knew so much about the home and she was very focused on making sure we find the right home that fit our budget. Everybody was friendly. We've been in our home going on six months now and the quality is great.
Awesome! We love to hear that, Jaleesa! Thank you so much for taking the time to tell us about how well your experience went in McComb! We're so glad that you enjoyed working with your home consultant and that you're enjoying you're home!

We purchased a mobile home, The Anniversary, from Clayton Sales in Lebanon, MO. We were made many promises that helped us make our decision to buy. We were promised that the cost of moving our old mobile home would be covered, promised they would bring in a new mobile home - not the one on the lot, promised that from the time they moved the old one out and new one in would be about 4 days and no more than a week before we could move in. When we went to sign papers was when the lies started coming to light. According to him the only loan we could get wouldn't pay to move our old one but not to worry, he had someone that could do it for about $1500. Well, okay we went ahead. It ended up being $2150!!! So, we moved to a small cabin on the river with a 20 month old and 2 old dogs thinking it would be no more than a week. Boy were we wrong.
Our salesperson had excuse after excuse for why they couldn't deliver our home. Well, that is when he actually answered our calls or text messages. When we would call the office since he wasn't answering, no one else knew anything. It was approximately 3 weeks before it was here. Then it was the issue of getting it set up. While hooking everything up we were told they weren't told anything about hooking up the pressure tank for our well. My husband tried calling our salesman but he was out, again! We had to pay $100 out of pocket and when we finally got ahold of him about getting it back we were told no. The home they brought was the same one on the lot, not the new one promised.
The quality of the mobile home is awful. Trim falls off if you touch it, screws cockeyed, halfway in, staples all over the walls really not with any purpose, cabinets and drawers uneven, shower doors flimsy. Mostly things that we didn't think about checking. I know my 26 yr old home I got rid of is built 100 times better. It's like it was mass produced with no care of finished product. We are stuck now but please if you are buying a mobile home be very cautious.
Tina, we are so sorry to hear about your experience in Lebanon. We're going to check into your situation and then a member of our Customer Advocacy Team will be in touch with you to see what we can do to help.

I had a place down on the coast and I lost it during Hurricane Harvey. I wanna take the time to rebuild and Clayton had what I needed on the floor, so I bought it, right then. I bought a Wind Zone II home from Clayton and everything was fine with the buying process. However, I got blotched cushion up through my floors from when they set it up, window leaks, and some cracks in the sheet rack. I got some things I'm working with the retailer, as well as keeping SE Homes Bcc in all my conversations. But that's more of an installation error to the vendor they used. I'm not sure how much Clayton or SE Homes is involved but the retailers should be taken care of.
We appreciate your feedback, Brian. We are going to touch base with your dealer and SE to make sure everything is on track. We'll be in touch shortly!

I liked the open floor plan of my home from Clayton. I didn’t want to spend a lot on it because it won't be my forever home. My plan is to live in it for a few years and then turn it into a rental property, and Clayton was able to get me into a home that was perfect for that. The home consultant who I worked with was amazing. They really went above and beyond. I had a lot of questions, and even though Clayton wasn’t the ones doing the financing, if they couldn’t help me, they knew who to get me in contact with the various questions They helped me to figure out which home was gonna best suit what I wanted. Then even right down to the land that I ended buying for the home, they came out and surveyed it. That was to help me figure out the best way to set it on the land that would be most efficient. I’ve already recommended people to Clayton Homes. I’ve had a memorable experience.
Thank you so much, Marisa! We're so happy to hear that everything went so well and that your home consultant was there for you every step of the way! When making such a big purchase, it's important for it to be exactly what you need and want! We also sincerely appreciate that you've recommended us to others!
