Everything went pretty well with Clayton Homes. I didn't wanna get a really expensive house and they had a good special going on. And it was very satisfying. I'm a single dad, so it was hard for me to really afford anything expensive. I got a basic home and the quality of the build is good. It's a big upgrade from what I had. The rep I worked with was a great guy. He was very helpful and understanding. He was there for anything I needed. I called them every time I had any questions or concerns and he answered and it worked out great. I've already recommended Clayton Homes to three friends.

Clayton's salesman, Billy, was awesome. I was impressed by his attitude and his honesty about everything. It didn't matter what the good or bad was. He was straightforward about everything and let us know upfront what was happening each step of the way. We changed a few things with the home. Instead of carpet in the living room, we did linoleum. We also had a covered front porch added on. When I had concerns, Clayton jumped on it immediately. The home I got is built better than I thought. Working with Clayton has made my life a whole lot better. I’m working less hours and making about the same money. I’m getting to do something that matters.

Clayton Homes' home buying process was fine, overall. The only problem we are having now is the French doors that go out the back are leaking and nobody can seem to figure out why. But Clayton Homes got a new door on the way to replace the whole door and the trim. So, the problem is being taken care of.

I was 100% satisfied with Clayton Homes. Everything went very well and timely. I’m from the old school, and they treated me very well. My consultant did an excellent job. They checked on me quite a bit to make sure everything was going like it should be. I bought this home around January and I was living in it by March 1st. The contractors that they hired to help along were wonderful. I’ve never seen anything like it. Truly, they were on the ball.

The home buying process with Clayton Homes was very easily done. What took the longest was for us to make a decision. I had a salesperson named Brent and he seemed just as home-bound as I am, and we got to know each other pretty good. It seemed like he was very church-oriented and had a great personality. I ask, he gives me an answer. Whether I like it or not, he tells me the truth. Couldn't have asked for a better salesperson. The home is top of the line and I got what I paid for. I sold the home that I had lived in and in my opinion, I got just as good a home to live in now as I had before.

I was getting evicted and I walked in at Clayton Homes and said I needed a place to live in 30 days. They showed me some great options in an area I really wanted to live in that were ready to go. I love the house I chose. I had some issues with the city of Dickinson getting my house approved to turn the electricity on, but that wasn't Clayton's fault. Clayton was wonderful and they were helpful along the way. I talked to them everyday and they kept me updated on everything. We couldn't take a day off of work during the week to sign all the paperwork, so they had a notary come in on the weekend so we could get all the paperwork signed and we could own a home. I was moved in on the 30th day when I needed to be moved in. For a manufactured home, it is very high quality. There are some spots under the floor as we have flood coming in when it rains, but it's Texas. So far, everything's going great with Clayton Homes.

Clayton has good homes and when I got mine, I put my furniture in and decorated it like I wanted. Even though I’m still having a problem with the well water, I was satisfied with the time the reps took with me and every time I would talk to them, they would explain things to me. They are good people to deal with.

Allan, Clayton's home consultant, was wonderful. He was very nice to me and did everything he could to tell me everything about the home. Their process took four to five months, and now I have a Clayton Home. I like the quality. Going with Clayton has made it a whole lot better for me and my family.

We shopped around a little bit and looked on the internet. Then we drove out to Oakwood, which is owned by Clayton, and went shopping. The home buying process was great. The application process was easy and went quickly. I had a wonderful salesperson. He's very outgoing and strove to pretty much meet anything I needed. He got on any questions or concerns I had right away. He called the people that needed to be called and got a response within the day. So far, everything seems pretty good quality and nice. Although you got the common things, like a piece of molding that might come loose here and there, it has all been put back up right. During the warranty period, if I had an issue, I would call and they'd have one of their crews come out and fix it.

We bought a new home in Beaufort Sc. While we were purchasing the home service couldn't be better. After it was paid for, things changed rapidly. The home was NOT placed until almost a year after purchase. Millions of excuses. We eventually had to deal with the town on our own. The WORST contractors and way over prices quoted by Clayton homes than their contractors would have: 1. hooked electricity to neighbors house. 2. tied sewer into overflowing septic tank - Again another neighbors system 3. hooked water into different neighbors water. Also my home was robbed of wall trim drawers fixtures and I believe they took hot water tank then when replaced did not connect to water.
After over a year of waiting to place home repairs and corrections still have not been completed and we are 3 months after home was placed. We are about to release a Youtube video of all the PROBLEMS. And the way we were treated and basically told go to BBB I've decided to go to the people thinking about purchasing their product and make them aware of how they will be lied to and conned into buying than screwed. Anyone considering buying may contact me as I have all documentation of all emails pictures and dates. There is so much more cheap plastic tubs, carpet and flooring issues. I WILL NEVER BUY A CLAYTON HOME EVER AGAIN!
We are very sorry to hear of your experience in Beaufort, Richard. Thank you for bringing this to our attention. A member of our Customer Advocacy Team will be in touch with you soon with more information.

Everything went really well with Clayton Homes. I am very pleased with the process. The rep did a good job and the quality of the home seems to be very good. The only suggestion I would have with them is the contractors that they use need to have better communications with the homebuyer. I had asked upfront if I could get a call whenever they were supposed to be coming then they'd show up and I've not had a phone call. As far as the work goes, they have done a great job but I like to get notified so that way, I could have made arrangements to being there.

Clayton Homes' home buying process was excellent. Everything went well. Our rep is a family member of mine who worked there before. I told him I wanted to get a home with him and he helped us out a lot and he was patiently with us 100%. He really got down to the point and explained everything. As first-time buyers, we thought we could never make it, but we did and we are 100% satisfied. We like our home. It's very, very good.

Clayton's reps are as nice as they can be. They come out, check stuff and fix stuff. However, my Clayton home is cheaply built. The carpet isn't any good and it's buckling up all over. The carpet is so thin. I got one replaced and when I moved a chair, the carpet tore. They shouldn't have put this stuff in my house. Also, there was a time I complained when they had to come to fix a spigot that busted. Additionally, I complained about the door too. They tried to fix it and said they'd have to replace it, but we never got around to that. I didn't want them tearing the door out of the wall. All the issue was was just screen. The glass part of the door dropped down. Clayton said the frame was messed up on the door.
I also had to put some of the light fixtures back up when I bought my home 'cause they didn't put the screws in the right position and those fell down. Also, if I'm not careful, my back door will just pop open since it won't stay closed. This home is brand new and I gave $34,000 for it. I probably couldn't get 20 out of it today. I wouldn’t buy another home like this.
Thank you for your feedback regarding your home, Kenneth. We're very sorry to hear about the quality issues you're experiencing. A member of our Customer Advocacy Team will be in touch with you shortly.

We were very happy with our experience with Clayton Homes. Our salesperson was really patient and he gave us everything we wanted. We wanted a single-wide and four bedrooms. We went to other Clayton Homes, but our salesperson was the only one that had one on the lot. Clayton had a good variety of homes but we had problems with the length on it, so we ended up going with the double-wide. We went to other places, but there wasn't very much a variety of homes in the lot. Plus, the salespeople were kinda pushy. We were asking for one thing, they said, "I have it. I can order it, and if you put a downpayment on it," without even seeing it. We didn't wanna do that.
We didn't want carpet, so Clayton ended up giving us rolls of vinyl. The quality of the build is good. However, we have trouble with some pointy things on the floor that came up through the vinyl, and that was sharp. We have three places in the kitchen that have little cuts in the vinyl. But there's not really much they can do unless we have them patch it.

Clayton Homes has been marvelous. However, we didn’t realize the steps it would take to get in and out of the house. Since we’ve bought it, I’ve had a stroke, my husband has had knee surgery and then he had one surgery the other day. It’s been a real hassle for us to get inside and outside. We love the house, but even with the ramp built here, it’s not gonna be much easier to come and leave. Still, we're real satisfied with it.

I'm very satisfied in my interactions with Clay Homes representatives. Every time we called or we went over there, everybody was really nice. Austin did a real good job. He was just getting started out, but any time we had a question or anything, he'd find out for us. He'd let us know soon as we got off the phone with him. The next day, he was back with us and had everything ready to go. So far, we have no problems. If anything has been messed up, they come out and repair it. They get everything fixed and good to go. I already sent them two more customers. My brother-in-law went over, he got himself the exact same house, and he already moved in. He also likes his home pretty good. And then, one of my buddies also stopped by there the other day and talked to somebody about getting himself one too.

My buddy used to work for Clayton Homes, so I've known about Clayton, and then I went to Oakwood when I was looking for a place, which is one of the subsidiaries of Clayton. I wanted everything new that I won’t have stuff repaired all the time. And Clayton has several years of basically, maintenance-free. The home buying process was good and I was happy with it. It took some time for the financing, which I didn't like, but I'm self-employed so I understand the complications of without having a stated income.
The reps all worked really well with me. I got a home with an already established floor plan and the quality was not great but it was good. There were some issues where the builder was using wet wood, so there was some warpage in my walls but they came right out and repaired it and was very great with that. The customer service part was great. As far as the materials, I wished they would use dryer wood to begin with, but I understand the production time.

The home buying process with Clayton Homes was wonderful. They worked with me the whole step of the way. Any questions I had, they answered. And if they didn’t know, they found the answer for me. They also made the application process very easy for me. A lot of the stuff, they emailed me, and I was able to do everything through online services, which made it really easy with the job I do. I love our home. We only had a door put on the laundry room and the desk in the hallway put back in. It's a solid structure that looks like it’s gonna last a long time. In fact, I’ve tried to get a couple of people to look into Clayton Homes too. Working with Clayton Homes has made a very easy transition from New York to Tennessee. I like the fact that they were so accessible and willing to work with me.

I see Clayton's sign on the side of the road, and my daughter bought one from them a month ago before I started. The salesman I was with was awesome and a cool dude. Everybody else was up and down, but he was the best. He was so kind at all times no matter what went down. I was also impressed by his professionalism. The only thing is that the trailer quality is not that good. Nonetheless, I put a shelf where you walk in for the clothes and my gloves, and a little backslash over the sink so the stuff doesn’t fall off. When it gets a little hotter, I’m gonna redo the cabinets ‘cause I don’t have enough cabinets there. I also gotta put shelves for the washer and dryer.

My parents bought a house with Clayton Homes back in the 90s. We've thought about Clayton for a long time and I like the little upgrades that weren't technically upgrades, like the trailer house countertop. The home buying process was super easy for us and I was impressed that after 15 minutes of talking with the home consultant, she knew exactly what we wanted. For customizations, we made barn wood sliding doors for our bathroom, pantry, and closets. The quality of the house build is great. We have a friend who asked us about Clayton Homes, and we recommended Roxanne to her, and they ended up buying from her as well.

Everything went wonderful with Clayton Homes. Their rep was very knowledgeable and he took care of everything. Instead of having a bath, we took the bathtubs out and just had showers put in. And then, instead of having a shower where the shower was, they put in a closet. So we ended up getting just a shower and a storage closet instead, which was much better. And then, there are two living rooms. One of them had built-in shelves and the other one didn't, so we had them put built-in shelves on both ends. Overall, they did an excellent job. We love our home and we're very happy with it. Everybody's shocked at how much space we have when guests come in.

We were living in an old house that was about to fall down on us. We had to have something else to live in. We thought it would be easier and faster for us to get a mobile home built instead of worrying about steep building one. We stopped in and had a talk with the guys that are staying in the trailers at Clayton Homes. They went around with us and showed us different homes, and we picked one out that we liked. The application process seemed like it went fast for us. The rep that we talked with the most at the trailer place was nice. He helped us. Every question we had, he answered it real good. He had a good attitude. Thus far, the quality of the house seems to be good. We got a roof over our head now and it doesn’t leak.

The purchase process at Clayton was kinda lengthy, but that’s expected everywhere you go to do anything. And I feel good about the way they explained things. But I thought I had a five-year warranty. Something happened to the refrigerator. The screws were stripped, and came to find out I had a one-year warranty on that. When that ran out, then I had a five-year warranty. But I had to buy more screws for it and have them ship it to me. That was unexpected, but it wasn’t that bad.

The name Clayton has been around forever, and after having gone to another builder across the street, we went over to Clayton to see what they’ve got. We looked around and found one that we really liked. We went in and talked to one of the ladies there, and she did everything in her power to get it for us. We didn't get the one that we wanted, and got a newer model instead, but we’re just as happy with it. The process just took long because I had to get the down payment together, but there was no problem on Clayton’s side. I was impressed with it, and I’m very happy with how things went. It was excellent. Whenever I had any question, they got right on it. The rep was on top of everything with us, like letting us know what paperwork were needed and giving us ballpark figures for the down payment and the monthly payment. She was awesome the whole time, and even after the fact.
I had a few repairs that needed to be done, and all I had to do was make a phone call to anybody at Clayton at Amarillo, and there was somebody on the way. During the build, there was a couple of nails sticking out of the island in the kitchen. It took a while to get a new one because there were some miscommunication between the office and the warehouse. And when the new island finally came in, it sat there because nobody knew it was there. But I was very patient about waiting on it. So, when they finally realized that my island was there, they brought it right up and got it installed.
The only thing I did differently from the way the house sat on the lot was getting water faucets installed on the front and back so I could water the grass and wash cars. They did not come with it from the factory so I asked if we could put those on, and it was not a problem. When they ran all my waterlines, they put them in for me. Now, my Clayton home is going on a year old, but I’m still happy with it. I don't see any issues with it at all. I love it.
That's so awesome to hear, Charles! We are so appreciative of you taking the time to share your home buying experience with us. We love knowing that you're so happy with not only the buying experience, but the home itself. We’ve known about Clayton Homes for quite a while and one day, we went to Evansville and looked at some homes. We halfway got approved for a home down there, so we looked over here at Fairfield. We found something we liked and we got the final approval here. The buying process was good. We picked one out and it has a great big shower in the back. I said it was the one that we wanted and they got us moved in quickly, with no problems. It was all set up and ready to go within a couple of days. Jeff, the rep, did everything and his daughter also helped us with the situation.
The staff at Clayton Homes answered all the questions we had and even if we call them back now, they would give us answers. The home's quality is really good. They make these things a lot better than they used to. It has 2x4 walls and it's warmer. Also, it's cooler in the summer and it has nice windows in it. There are no hallways in it anymore and it’s all usable space. We had new appliances and kept them, and they took theirs out.
Wow! Paul, it sounds like you had a great home buying experience in Fairfield. We're so grateful that you took the time to tell us about your experience. It's so great to hear that you enjoyed working with Jeff and with his daughter. Congratulations on your new home - we hope you continue to enjoy that big shower for many years to come!

Updated on 03/21/2020: Clayton Homes of Harrisonburg Va. employees and or contractors changed the grading in front of my home. My home sits at the bottom of a large hill. Now there is nothing to stop the rain that flows down the hill from going under my home and washing the ground out. This did not occur with my old home. Clayton Homes of Harrisonburg changed the grading and gave me their word all would be corrected. It's been almost a year and the problem still exists. Last attempt was on February 23, 2020. I sent texts messages to the Sales Manager, Scott ** and Doug (a man I believe to be the owner).
The message had a photo of a broken bathroom sink drain line and read (Hello Doug, This is Bart ** with my address. If you would follow up on the grading around my home and I have a service call for a broken sink drain.) Doug's reply by text message came six minutes later. The reply read, "Absolutely...I will get together with Mike and Amy in the morning." A similar message Was sent to Scott ** and a he text was basically the same as Doug's. Amy (the company's maintenance coordinator) was texted with the photo of the broken bathroom drain line. No response positive or negative from her at all. It is now March 21, 2020 and not only has no attempt to resolve either problem but now calls are being ignored.
I have a previous review with many problems listed and they were for the most part corrected by Clayton Homes out of Kentucky (I believe is the factory site). My conclusions based on my experiences are as follows.
Clayton Homes anywhere but Harrisonburg Va. may be good operations.Clayton Homes Corporate Office personnel seemed helpful.
Clayton Homes of Harrisonburg Va' Scott ** well meaning, has absolutely no ability to get problems solved once the home is on site.
Doug (the manager or Owner) will give you his word that all will be corrected but won't or cannot.
Amy seems to be in charge and has absolutely no interest in the customer's needs. When she decides your warranty is worthless, her opinion is the final decision.
If you have read this far please take the time to read my first review to see most of my experience with Clayton Homes of Harrisonburg Va. You will find you should spend your money elsewhere. I hope this helps you make a good decision.
Original Review: My old home was removed so the new home could be delivered, The project manager came to the site (as far as I know, the only time) and told me the retaining wall would have to be taken down, so I did. Our home was delivered the end Of October 2018. The crew said a retaining wall would be necessary or they could move the location about fifteen feet. We agreed (first mistake). After our new home was put on its foundation and block piers I was told addition grading would be needed. We had to wait for them to find dry fill dirt. Once they found the dry fill dirt they shaved additional dirt from around my home to complete the job and it's still not done correctly.
While disconnecting the plumbing from my old home they destroyed my water pump and pressure tank. They replaced the pressure tank but the pump was mine to replace. While connecting my water line to our new home they used galvanized fittings. When I questioned the Clayton Homes service representatives I was informed they use galvanized fittings all the time. I told them not on my home.
When we were finally allowed to enter our new home, so much was wrong. The interior jams were neither plumb or level. The ceilings were cracked. The bathtub was cracked. The interior HVAC unit installed so the filter cover does not properly. I'm told this is mine to fix. Molding throughout the home installed crooked. Countertops not finished properly and not level. Most were corrected but not the kitchen counter. Now my problem. Skirting was to be framed but only half was framed. Now sways with a breeze. My problem now.
It is now August 2019 and still under warranty. The warranty apparently has no value. The roof shingles are coming up in areas. Clayton homes response was it my have been caused by a storm, so not under warranty. The gutters were never screwed all the way in. Not Clayton Homes responsibility. There are openings all around the home under the skirting from not being back filled properly. Not under warranty. Exterior molding around the roof broke during delivery, not under warranty. I can put my hand between the floor and the molding. Not under warranty. Kitchen cabinets have unfinished sides. Not under warranty.
I sent a certified letter and pictures of my concerns and received a certified response telling me Clayton Homes has no responsibility for any deficiencies in my new almost $90,000.00 home. Save your money and build a home. Buying from Clayton homes would be a mistake, even if they are the only game in town. Scott ** gave me his word all items would be corrected, that's what I get for trusting a salesman even if we were friends prior to this purchase.

The rep walked me through the process and I showed him everything that was needed to be done. But Clayton Homes was supposed to bring a screen for the window in the living room, bedroom, and bathroom, but I never got the screens. Plus, one of the basins in the bathroom isn't working. Everything else is working perfectly though and I love my home.

The people at Clayton were very easy to work with and very knowledgeable about their products. We just told them what we wanted and they made it happen. Buying the house was the easiest part. I just wish their people would come back to fix parts of the house in a timely manner. The guy that was supposed to come in to do our septic tank took forever and this delayed the set up of our water and power. He would come and work for a few days and a few hours then go home. That was frustrating. The home was delivered before Christmas but we did not get to move in until spring break.
There had been cracks in our ceiling just because of the settling process where it had sat here so long. Some of the paint wasn't completely finished too. There were also minor things that they had to work on. Where our hardwood meet in our bathroom, they didn’t come in and put the little strips down there. But overall, we would probably do it again with Clayton because it seems like it’s more convenient to order. We've looked into the option where we would build it, but it's easier to have Clayton do it. We specialty-ordered from them and we got all we wanted.
Thank you so much for the detailed feedback, April. We're so glad to hear that our team was easy to work with and informed about our homes. However, we're sorry to hear that the work on your septic took longer than planned. We are going to pass this feedback along to our retail team so that we can better our processes in the future. This information is very important to us and we thank you for sharing it with us. Congratulations on your new home!

From the salesman to the contractors to the workers, everybody that I've dealt with when I got my Clayton home has been great. The reps had been in communication with me from the time I started looking at the home to the whole time we were setting things up. And even after we got done, they have called to make sure everything’s going okay and that we’re satisfied with the home. It was wonderful.
My salesman, Daniel from Mount Airy, was wonderful, too. I was on a budget, so he knew my budget, and he knew what I could get, what I couldn’t get, and he was very helpful in getting me what I wanted. John was my head contractor guy and he was wonderful as well. We started around October last year, about the time that the rain started, and it rained off and on for two or three months. The whole crew, from the set up guys to the guys that had done the work on the inside, has been wonderful. I highly recommend Clayton Homes to anybody who’s getting a home.

We had a really good experience when we came in and spoke to our Clayton Homes salesperson, Rachel. She was really helpful and we were able to get all the information that we needed. But it was a long process, and Vanderbilt, the people that we ended up financing with, was very hard to deal with. We almost backed out a few times, but Rachel helped to get us all the answers we needed and helped get us through the process with Vanderbilt and make it bearable. If it wasn't for Clayton, we would've backed out if we were just dealing with Vanderbilt, but they made it a lot better. Rachel was great and really professional. She made sure to keep us updated with everything that was going on and keep us in the loop through the whole process. We bought a used home, and we couldn't be happier with it. I love it. We were in a bind and we needed to get into a home quickly, and Clayton was very helpful with us. Working with them was very beneficial.

My wife and I purchased a 2019 single wide from Clayton Homes in Leesburg Georgia in May of 2019. The Salesman Ronnie was fantastic and Friendly. We had no issues with him at all. The Maintenance Manager Val was superb in getting the home ready to move into and always very helpful and Friendly. The man in charge of getting the Electrician and Air conditioner contractor in place was not helpful at all. I attempted to call him and 4 different occasions the last was the 27th of June to ascertain the progress of the Electrician setting up the electric and air conditioner with no avail, he had either left for the day or had just stepped out.
I ended up contacting the salesman to get the info, and I was told that the Setup manager informed the salesman that I had contacted the Electrician my self and informed the company that I was not ready for the power to be hooked up. (THAT WAS A TOTAL FALSEHOOD) I didn't even know who the Electrician company was at the time. The salesman was also told that this was done on a conference call (fALSEHOOD #2.). Progress has been made on the house and setup is getting done with the help of Val and a contractor hired by the company to fix the few items pointed out during a walk through.
The set up MGR Bert is still MIA we have not any contact with him since the closing Mid June and he informed us to contact him about set up issues as the salesman had done his part. I think that sales office should take him out of the picture all together before some other customers get lied to and don't get their home set up in a timely fashion. We had already made a house payment on the new home and had no electricity or Air conditioning. Thank goodness we were not moved in yet.
Thank you so much for bringing this to our attention, Kevin. We're sorry for the issues you've experienced. At this point, we've been notified that your salesperson was able to get your issues resolved and that your review has been updated. Thank you for taking the time to get it updated as well!

We're younger and nobody wanted to deal with us around here. They wouldn't take us seriously. I saw Clayton Homes through Facebook, and I went down in Charleston where they are and ended up getting a home there. The rep I worked with was David. He was really good. We gave a price range to start out with. He listed about everything we wanted to see down there and gave us no rush at all. He even stayed over that one day because we were trying to make our minds. That was a big decision. I found a home in the lot and it is everything we wanted. We had a faucet in the bathroom and it started leaking. I had to kill the water to the house. And a guy came out the next day which was on a Sunday. He fixed the faucet and the back door that we were having trouble with. Clayton really did good.

Purchasing with Clayton was simple and there were a lot of help. Our new home's price point stood out to us. There were some negatives about the quality, though. In the bar, there are two different countertops. It's like a raised bar, but there are two levels to the bar, and the cheapness of the laminate is really noticeable. Other than that, it's nice that they did some other things the countertops are lacking. I've already recommended Clayton Homes to somebody.

I decided to start looking at homes and I liked the convenience and pricing of Clayton versus other builders. I bought my home in Sanford as they were the best ones to deal with. Justin, my home consultant, was just great from start to finish. He was really good from point A to Z in explaining all aspects of the home purchase, was very easy to work with and very knowledgeable. He was able to answer my questions and what he couldn’t answer, he got back to me in a timely manner.
I customized my home and stretched it at 32 wide then we did all 2x6s right on the outside. It had more insulation as far as heating and air system. I also made sure there were all 2x4s on the inside. It was for energy efficiency and to make the house sturdier. It kinda helps with breaking and entering because if it doesn’t have that, people just go by the siding and go right through.
I love my house but where it's built at could’ve done a little bit better quality like the crown moldings. The finishing crew had to come in and put caulk in there and that’ll only last for so long so we don’t see the seams and stuff. Then the corners in the bedrooms where the sheetrock meet was not really nice-looking. Clayton contracted with another entity and I’m not happy with that entity. But I would still recommend Clayton.
Melissa, we are glad that Justin was great at assisting you during your home buying experience! It's great that you were able to customize your home so that you and your family could feel more secure. We were satisfied with Clayton Homes. We had a good experience with it. The rep was a good consultant. There were certain things that went out his control with the subcontractors, but he was pretty informative. He did everything he could in his power to keep us informed of what was going on. There were some hiccups on the subcontractor's side just because what we bought was unique to Clayton. So, it was a learning curve for them because we did something non-traditional. We bought a Norris house and we bought it stripped out. We didn't want any finishes. We wanted unfinished subfloors, no crown molding, no cabinets. So, that was kind of unique, and they were like, "I'm not sure how we're supposed to finish whenever it's unfinished." But Clayton has, so far, stood behind everything that they've said that they would do.

We looked at the home we wanted. It was Clayton's floor model. Our home consultant, Lucy, said that if we wanted this one, we should put a deposit on it and hold the price that they quoted us so we did that. We got our own financing through First Interstate Bank here in town and they were super easy. By the time we actually ended up ordering it, it was a different home consultant named Laura, and she’s since gone so they just run through those people like crazy.
It was a promotional home and according to Clayton, we couldn’t change a whole lot of anything. So my wife picked the color of the appliances and that was about it. When we got the home, there were some things that were changed that we didn’t know about, like the built-in entertainment center. They told us that the new one would be different. It’s painted. Well, the whole thing was different. I like the way it changed, my wife didn’t. They also sent us carpet in the dining room and floor model had linoleum. The carpet is just totally awful. We’ve only been in there since February and it’s already matted down. We can feel stuff underneath it like bumps and stuff. Everybody I talked to said that it’s factory standard. It’s just crap. Clayton said they were gonna try to get us a piece of linoleum to replace that with. My wife was a little more disappointed than I was. It’s like they didn’t know what they were selling kind of thing.
The contractor we hired had a little bit of a difficulty as far as getting the specs for the foundation. Then, Clayton blamed him for not getting engineered drawings and stuff like that. All in all, it cost us a little money ‘cause he put the wrong steel plates on the foundation. I told my wife if that’s the only thing that goes wrong, then we should consider ourselves lucky. We’ve already had some friends that ordered a home from Clayton because they thought we got a good deal in the price. But at the same time, it could be a lot easier. Even if they had a checklist of what the homeowner was supposed to be responsible for because there were a few things that we thought they would take care of, when in fact, we had to take care of them.
Overall we’re satisfied ‘cause after it’s all said and done, the factory people came and fixed what they were going to, like the shower had to be all re-tiled in the master bathroom. Those guys are pretty okay to work with and they’re quick. The contractors that the store hired to set the house and then button it up were really slow. It caused me some stress, but at the end of the day, we got the home that we wanted other than the carpet in the dining room.

We were looking to downsize our housing mortgage and saw a couple of homes on the site that we liked to consider, and Clayton's financing worked well for us. We didn’t wanna tie the land and we were able to do that with the financing. Cory was wonderful. He answered all questions that we had and even after the sale, any concern that we had was addressed immediately. If it was something that needed to be addressed as far as the physical appearance or the way something worked at the mobile home, they sent somebody out immediately to take care of anything that needed taking care of. I'm a little bit afraid where I can put something on the wall, but it's nothing that I think is not gonna hold up or be sturdy. Working with them made things a lot easier at the time when we really needed things to be easier.

I drove to Christiansburg and was looking into Clayton Homes. I talked with a gentleman and he was telling me all about the homes and the promotions at that time. I was like a nervous wreck and he just carried me through. He introduced me to his boss and both of them talked to me a little bit. I went back home and got my girlfriend and we came back. This was my first time of doing this so I went in there and said, "Take it over, boys." And they took it over. They told me exactly what I needed and took care of it for me 'cause I paid cash for the home.
If I had any kind of maintenance questions, they've been very helpful. They'll send their boy out to take care of any problem that I have, but there's been very few. They all have my back. It's been great and I have no complaints. I get a home without having to deal with an actual, huge house that I couldn't keep up the maintenance. I'd tell others to definitely buy a home with Clayton, to give them a call and talk to them. They're really good people.

The process of getting into the home was not too bad. It being our second home purchase we already knew the process. What is aggravating that after moving in our windows started leaking so you know what that means--water, sand, hot and cold wind blowing in. We had called them to fix it and after being drug around someone finally came and worked on it. Unfortunately they did not fix it. 3 years later it still has not been fixed properly. The next issue is our siding. We chose the vinyl siding (which we had no choice to get) and we have had nothing, but problems. Clayton has came out and has changed the siding (6 times). Once again they did not fix it correctly. When the wind blows the siding blows with it. Sincerely, a confounded women. P.S A daughter typing for her mother.

The buying process of Clayton Homes was good. The purchase wasn’t difficult. The hardest part was waiting for the skirting to come in. We kept calling and kept asking. They had to go through this process. It was just a lot of hoops to get there. But once we got the skirting on, we were okay. Everything went fine. At first, our experience with their rep started out very promising, and then it got to the point that he really started telling us the real truth of what was going on, and we were like, “If you would’ve just told us that from the very beginning, we wouldn’t have continued to call and keep bugging you guys about when we’re gonna have the skirting.”
The people were great and friendly and everything else was fine. We just didn’t like the fact that we’re being promised one thing and then it turns out that it’s more to it than that. But other than that, they did a good job. Everything is good so far. I will recommend them despite that little thing that happened there, it’s not enough to say that the services were totally bad.

She was on top of all the situations that we had popped up about buying a house. We got a customized home from Clayton and the whole buying process wasn't too bad. The biggest issue is getting the builders to come out and repair some of the stuff that came about like one of the counters which cracked. They sent a person to replace the top but he didn't have the right piece when he came. Months later, they finally sent someone else back out but he didn't have enough pieces to complete the job. We've been in our home now ever since February. There were a couple of places that we had a question about like the bathroom but the service guy came out and fixed them. We had requested them to put in a walk-in shower because my husband is handicapped. There was one of the places which didn’t look like it had been sealed. I've told two other people about Clayton Homes. My experience with them was wonderful. The most perfect person is Victoria, our customer service rep. Everything we've needed, she’s been right on it. She’s just amazing and she deserves a raise or a bonus. We were so lucky to have her. Everybody else was good, but she is just over the top good. We loved our home just like it was. We just had a few things that needed to be fixed and she took care of it for us, and she's just great. We went in to tell her in person how much we appreciated her, but I don’t think she gets a whole lot of appreciation, but she got positive from us ‘cause she's wonderful.
The whole operation in Brenham is good. The only negative was the guy that helped to close on the deal. He didn’t wanna be there. Keith is the guy that took care of us. He had an emergency. He was called out. They had a woman that had never closed on a mobile home before, only on real home, and so he was called in to help and he didn’t want to do that at all. It was pretty obvious. But that’s okay. We’ve let everybody we talked to know about that. That’s over and done with. I don’t think we have to deal with him anymore.
Wow! We LOVED reading your review, Jacqualynne! Thank you so much for telling us about your experience and about how much you enjoyed working with Victoria! I was looking around and decided to go with Clayton Homes because of their prices and their customer service to an extent. I’ve had a lot of trouble out of the factory. The dealer’s been pretty good. They're very slow with their service people, but they do get the job done. And I’m not their only customer, so I understand that. But as far as the factory goes, they're a joke.
We sent them out to look at some cabinets, because whatever they wrapped the cabinets in was peeling apart from the bottom. We tried to get ahold of them, and we didn't. The dealership said they’ve been trying to get ahold of them since February, and they finally got us an appointment in May. And the guy that sets the appointment up from the factory, it took him two or three different times.
They set up an appointment. I arranged everybody to be there. And because I was at work I arranged for somebody, who took their time, to be there to meet the person from the factory and he didn't call, didn't show, so I called in that afternoon, and I couldn’t get ahold of my him. He won’t answer his phone. So, he said, “We’ll set it up for tomorrow.” There was lack of communication on his end. And then I finally got them out here to look at the cabinet, and they said they're gonna have to replace it. So, they ended up replacing it last week.
When they set the trailer up, the dealer had come out there and they had put some caulking underneath the cabinet, and it left about a quarter-inch gap between the cabinet and the caulking, which was stupid. So, the dealer came back out and re-caulked it and made it look a little bit better. Also whenever the guy came last week to swap the cabinet out, he ripped about eight inches of the wallpaper off the wall. So, now, they gotta come back out once again.
And then they come out whenever he’s here for that cabinet. We had them adjust the bathroom door. It wouldn’t stay open. You'd open the bathroom door, and it would close itself to halfway, so he adjusted the bathroom door and now it won’t shut. Their service is pitiful. The technicians and whoever is the boss up there at Maynardville are pretty terrible. I wouldn’t recommend them. I would suggest a lot better customer service from the factory. I’ve been put off. An honest person would've been good. But overall, Clayton has been good.

I was gonna buy a home right off the lot, but it was not completely finished, so Chris said, “Why don’t you just get you a brand new one?” And so, I ordered one and I'm very satisfied with it. There are just minor stuff that I notified them about and they still hadn’t come out and fix those. The strip that goes down towards the middle of the living room is sticking way up on one side and people stub their toe on it. Also, when it rains on the back porch, it leaks. It needs a gutter and downspout going over there, because all the water’s coming down on the steps. Anybody who comes up and down the steps in the rain is gonna be soaked.

Clayton had a manufactured home that was already ready to go. They had had a guy who had bought the house, and it was already done at the factory. It was on its way to Arizona, and he got transferred to another state, so he backed out of it. And so, they had posted it on Zillow and it was in our price range. So, I called up Matt right away, and I’m like, “Do not sell that house. I’m coming to see it.” I got my husband out of work, and we drove over, and looked at it.
I wanted a non-split home, which I realized is very rare in manufactured homes. But I told Matt from Clayton that I’ve got four little kids, and I’m nervous about being on the other side of the house. I don’t even think he was looking at it. He knew down to the inch, how far it was from the master bedroom to the kids’ room. And he knew everything about the house. He knew all that different stuff.
I told him, “I can’t find a Realtor that knows how to look for lands that can do the well and a septic, make sure it can have a manufactured home.” And when I got in there, he handed me three business cards. He gave me my options, but he told me who they’ve had great experience with, which made me feel so much better. The realtor, Heather, and I are still very close friends. She was amazing and so helpful. And because she knew them and they knew her, questions were able to get answered. I could get to be an overly detailed person, so if Matt couldn't fill in all those details for me I called Heather and she would go, “Oh, yeah. This is what we do. It’s okay. This is what we’ve gotten.” There was always somebody that knew what was going on.
And they really fought for us. We had issues with the land where our first land was in a flood zone. I felt horrible -- things kept getting delayed and different engineering stuff had to be done. At the very end of it, we got everything taken care of. And the Realtor that was running that land came back and said, “Hey, this land is in a trust, and we can’t sell it until the trust is figured out. It could be a couple more months.” And by this point, the house had been sitting on the property at Clayton up here for a few months. So, they were paying the interest and everything on it. They kept doing it until we found more land, and they totally took care of us, Matt and Dave who is the manager. Even if they were frustrated, you never knew they were frustrated. I knew it had to be hard on them, and it’s taking so long, but both of them just went over and beyond.
When we came in, they never shared their frustrations with us about how long it was taking or anything. They were always smiles and, “How’s it going guys? Good to see you.” They’re so patient with us. We had to bring all the in-laws to come see the house and they would always say, “Yup. Come on over, let’s go see it.” I remember too, the day that the house rolled off their land on the truck to come to our land, Matt videotaped it for me and sent it to me. It was great. It was just so personal. It was like we all sat there. He’s like, “We’re all crying here at Clayton.” And I’m like, “We’re crying here watching the video.” It wasn’t like dealing with a business, it was like dealing with a friend that’s just as excited for us as we were excited for ourselves. I’m so happy it was such a wonderful and personal experience for everyone involved. I have two people coming to Clayton for houses soon.
Amanda, we are so glad that it worked out for you to get your home! It sounds like Matt took very good care of your family and made sure that you had all the information about the house. Everything was good with Clayton Homes. They showed us the house and the lender that we were very good with. They helped us throughout the whole contract period. William who works there was fantastic. If there is a problem, John is right there and he fixes it in a snap. Nothing’s perfect but he kinda smoothed out everything. We’ve been in our home for a couple of months now, and it’s great. The only thing we did down here in South Carolina was something we really need which are ceiling fans. Other than that, everything was there. We didn't have to do anything. The porch that came with it was good. We just bought the back porch. We have dogs, so we had to put a fenced-off play area in the back yard.
Thank you so much for your feedback, Francesco. We are so glad to hear that everything went well for you with Clayton and that you enjoyed working with John to purchase your new home. We had such a good salesperson from Clayton Homes. His name is Ed and he’s been with this local dealership for 20 years. He was just so pleasant and was so wiling to take us around, let us look, and tell us everything. We didn’t really go anywhere else after we talked to him. Clayton Homes didn’t have the particular one we got on the lot, but I had seen it on the website. I asked Ed would we be able to get that one and he said he didn’t see why not. He and I sat together. I wanted a particular chair railing so he customized it with me.
My husband is arthritic and we’re middle-aged. He said, “I just want to get a place that I can just have everything done, and I don’t have to do anything. I can just get in it and sit down.” We have had just a few issues and when I’ve called Ed and talked with him, they’ve been real willing to get out here and take care of things like I needed. We had some issues with the vinyl flooring because it wasn’t done tight enough at the factory so we had some ripples and bubbles. They’ve had to come from the factory and had to cut across my doorway and put a doorjamb. They did have to cut the vinyl flooring in some places and redo it. So, I’ve been a little bit disappointed as far as that goes and just some minor things with the door under the house and a little trim.
There haven't been any big, major issues other than we had the plumbing leak in the laundry room right off the bat and it flooded my bathroom. It was a cracked pipe. Maybe they wanna wrap those pipes better or something before they transport them. My husband has been disappointed because of the flooring. It’s been a big issue with him. But I’ve been real satisfied. Right now, I’m still waiting on a couple of guys to come out and replace some trim in the laundry room that had to be cut to fix the leak.
Thank you for taking the time to share this feedback, Patty! We are thrilled with your great experience! Enjoy your home!

The floor look like wood but they're vinyl. I love them. I also love that the dog and cats don’t scratch them. Everything that Clayton builds is good. Purchasing a home through Clayton went well. However, I've been finding several things wrong. There have been leaks in the sinks and in the piping I tried to hook my refrigerator up and turn the water on and the water was coming out of the connector. Also, when I turned my hot water heater on, it wasn't working. So, I had to pull a panel off it. Clayton left the hot water tank disconnected from the electric. Additionally, the plugs in the living room weren't working. The extended laundry room also didn't have any extra plugs except for the electrical plugs for the dryer and washer. In the bathroom, there were no soap dishes nor towel brackets around the shower. There were no medicine cabinets either. Every time I would call, Clayton's reps pulled out on me. They just did a very poor job.

Also, the salesperson that I dealt with was willing to take all the time in the world to show me every home they had. After the sale, she gave me a nice little gift basket with lots of goodies that were appropriate for what I was using it for. She was very nice and helpful. Every time I called her, she answered the phone and helped me through whatever I was dealing with. Everybody in my family lives in a Clayton home. And having seen the process and how it worked, I was comfortable going through Clayton Homes too. I got a display model, and it was perfect the way it was. It's well-built and very well-insulated. The only thing I hate about my house is that they put really cheap carpet on it. I’ve had the house going eight months, and I can already tell that the carpet needs to be replaced. Other than that, I’m greatly satisfied with my home buying process. If I was to sell my house today, I would go right back to Clayton Homes and start all over again. The Asheboro Clayton Homes really stood behind me, especially Aaron and Bill.
Bill knew what my budget was and where I had to be. He also knew how bad I wanted the house that I got, and he made it happen. He pulled all strings possible. I went and saw him on a Saturday, and he told me that it would probably be Wednesday before he knew something. By Monday morning, he asked me if I could go there and put some money down on the house so he could hold the one on display, and I said yes. I left work early and went down there, and had a little money to put down on it and said, “Don't let nobody get to that house.”

We lost our home in Hurricane Harvey. We were devastated. We owned our home and were not looking forward to having a 30 year mortgage but hey, you do what you gotta do right. Well after looking and looking and looking we decided to buy a NEW mobile home. We do not have kids, it is just me and my husband. We decided on the Tru Home Elation. We were so so EXCITED. The sales people were pleasant and helped to speed the process along as much as possible but we were living with my brother and it was time!!!!
After months of trying to get everything finished we FINALLY moved in. There were problems that were addressed semi-quickly. There was a crack in the ceiling (fixed), there was rippling on the bathroom and kitchen floor (fixed), the backlight was missing (fixed after 4 phone calls and visits), missing trim (fixed). BIG ISSUE: When we got the septic and the AC put in, the installers had to get under the house to hook up the electrical. IT WAS SO SO HARD to hook up!!!! Couldn't get through the black stuff, got the wires stuck in the wall. It was seriously ridiculous.
A days after living here we noticed that the bathroom/bedroom wall had mold at the bottom of it. My husband took the wall panel down and saw that the PIPES WERE NEVER HOOKED UP... Literally!!! We had been using the master bath shower. The Master bath had an issue with the faucets. Clayton replaced them, wrong pipes, stuck out of the wall by 3 inches. Came out again fixed it, didn't seal it (my husband had to). A week later we see mold at the bottom of the wall in the bedroom. Fixed that.
Honestly the mobile home is put together VERY cheaply. The doors didn't shut correctly. The front door did WOULD NOT shut all the way. That was fixed, the the back door did the same thing. Finally got that fixed. The interior doors will not stay opened all the way and the gap at the bottom of the doors are HUGE. It also makes it easier to see how uneven the doors are.
Under the sink the water has leaked 3 or 4 times. My husband has fixed it every time as we could not keep taking off work to have them come out to "maybe fix it". The fridge had a HUGE dent in it and it took an act of congress to get that corrected. The skirting is seriously misaligned. There are HUGE gaps at the top or the bottom. The carpet is Super thin and after 1 year of living in it, (taking off our shoes every time we come in the house) the carpet needs to be replaced. I do understand that things happen when the homes are moved and set into place BUT... The pipes not being hooked up and the faucets being messed up. It has been a headache.
That being said. I would not recommend this home to anyone. I did my homework on MOST things but I figured a mobile home is a mobile home. The home we lost was a mobile home built in the 80's and it was SO much more durable than this one. Now I am in a LONG mortgage payment in a home that I will be lucky to keep in good condition with no MAJOR overhaul for another 3 years. Wish I would have known but hindsight is 2020!!!!

My dad and I are both widows, and I got tired of trying to call him and he wouldn’t answer the phone. I was renting a house in Houston and I would have to go and check on him at home, which is about four-and-a-half-hour drive from here. So, I told him that we're gonna sell the house and then he would live with me. And then, I searched around and found Clayton Homes. For a lot of reasons, I chose them over other companies, one being that I used to build homes and I had looked at their blueprint, how the home was constructed and how everything was made. The home was solid and steeled. And my electric bill ain’t nothing but $62 to $67 a month, and I run an AC unit. But the deciding factor for me was Elvia, the sales lady over on I-10. She was really good. She would talk to you and make sure you’re all right and everything is working fine. She even calls me now and I tell her everything is fine with our home.
I also like her attitude for not lying. I could tell when a person is lying and just wants to sell something, and she didn't do that. We looked at several options to finance our home and I asked her, to which she said that she was not supposed to act on it. And then I asked her with whom do most people get financed. I told her that I wanna know the information. I’m not a computer-illiterate, and I had done computers, I just don’t trust them. And then, she turned around and told me what a lot of people do. She was really honest about it. That’s the biggest thing.
We went with their red tag special, something they wanna get rid of. It’s just me and my dad, and we both looked at it, and it's good. The only thing he was telling me was that there's a crack and he could see through the door. I told him that this house has been traveling down a road, and once we get settled, we would readjust everything. That’s no big thing. Other than that, it was the best construction I’ve ever seen. We built a 50-foot porch on the back so we can have a deck and everybody up here looked at my home and keeps on asking. And I tell them, “Go see Elvia on I-10 over there.”
We appreciate you taking the time to share your experience with us, Earl. It's so great to hear that you and your dad are together now and that the home is working out well for you. We are definitely going to let Elvia and her team know that you enjoyed working with her! It sounds like she took great care of you. Congratulations on your new home!

The gentleman from Clayton Homes who worked with us made everything very easy to understand, and he was very available for questions. His name was Austin. He was amazing. We went in and we were looking for modular homes, and they were explaining that they didn’t have them. But he was like, “You know what? If you wanna look, I can let you look around.” And he took us through several homes. We really wanna go modular. So, we left. And then a few months later, we went back. He was very patient with us to work through what we were wanting. He showed us all the different lines and different price points. And then he let us stew over it for about a month, and then we got back with him.
He was very knowledgeable and knew what he was talking about. And with the few things he didn’t, he went and got answers for us. He texted and corresponded with us even when he wasn’t at work. If he got a notification when he was off, he was like, “Hey, they just told me that this part of the house is done,” or “That part of your house is done,” or “Somebody called me and asked this question. What do you think?” So, even when it wasn’t his regular working hours, he was involved with us.
Also, the buying process was great and easy. We had a few custom things that we wanted and they worked hard to get it done for us. We got a custom shower put in with tile work, and we got a custom front door put in, and they were great too. They laid all of that out for us. The delivery and set-up were great. It was only the lights that took a long time because of the rain. But that wasn’t anybody’s fault. They worked quick.
They did have a lady come clean the house, and she did not do a great job. But that doesn’t reflect negatively on Austin himself. Whoever they had do the housecleaning did not clean. The floors were covered in white powder. So, we had to come in and do a ton of cleaning. Their cleaning person did not really clean at all. She vacuumed and swept, and that was about it. Other than that, the few repair issues that we’ve had were taken care of quickly. Austin even checked with us a time or two like, “Hey, how’s it going? Are y’all happy? We really liked him.

I was looking for a place to live but what I saw was just crap. I figured it might be cheaper to get a new home. I was looking at manufactured homes and Clayton Homes came about. I put down money on Clayton and I had to find a lot being their home is a manufactured one. I was looking all around and I got an appointment to come here and look at this place. The owner said there was a Clayton home set up at the park that was turnkey ready. I looked at it, walked in the door, and fell in love with the floors. The view outside has trees too. That was it and I moved here from Arizona. I like my home.
In the 30 days that I was looking for a place in Arizona, I found it so disgusting that they would sell you a dirty rotten bathtub. In the places I looked at, the ceilings were caving in and the floors were all warped. Some of the places were unsafe. My real estate agent there wouldn't even come in and take pictures. She wouldn't list it unless it was clean. And then I had to buy insurance. He basically pushed into buying insurance to guarantee that all the fixtures and appliances worked in the house for the next person. But the people here don't do that. There is no guarantee and everything is as is.
Clark was my rep and he was excellent. He wasn't pushy and there was no pressure. After I got in the place and moved in, I'd call up and ask where this or that is. Clark would answer me. I couldn't find the water heater as it is hidden in a closet behind a wall. I wanted to turn it up or turn it down, but I had to unscrew all the weird looking screws. They are like square. The water and the electricity didn't get turned on so they put me in a hotel in Knoxville which was nice. I got really sick and that was a few days after I moved in. I was in the hospital for 11 days. The only person I knew was Clark and he went out of his way for me. He went to my house and got my cellphone along with a few other things I asked him for.
When the doorknob fell off, Clayton's people came out and fixed that. They also fixed the top of the siding that was sticking out. But they didn't fix the skirting at the bottom that surrounds the siding. They don't guarantee that so I had to call a handyman because when the skirting was cut, it was done too short. It kept flipping off in the wind. That ticked me off because that was $168 for the handyman. Overall, the process was good. But Clayton mailed the title to my old address in Arizona so it took me a while to get the title of my place. I guess Clayton got that mailing address and my physical address.
We're so glad to hear how satisfied you are, Diana! Thank you so much for taking the time to tell us about your home and your experience purchasing it. We love that you love your floors, and the view too! Congratulations on your new home!

We bought our home from the Rocky Mount N.C. Clayton Homes. The buying process was easy however getting repairs done have been a huge hassle. I've had windows replaced that are still not correct, dishwasher still not right, door casings not correct. Also my mantel doesn't match is not same colors. My favorite part when buying the home was the ranch style trim which was done awful.
We've had lots more issues which some have been fixed. However for example our trim work keeps coming away from walls only to have folks come out and renail the same exact pieces up 20 times now filled with nail holes, gaps between pieces of trim because everybody that seems to come out refuses to replace it, or cut it the correct length so it doesn't keep coming off walls nor do they care half of it around door frames is being shot up with nothing behind it. This past week in order to fix the gaps in between two pieces where it was cut incorrect a year ago when placed up the helper was told by his boss with him to fill in the gaps with markers.
There are also lumps under carpets that I'm constantly being told is carpet padding - not to mention carpet seams haven't been corrected. It's been little over a year and my home still isn't fixed. We didn't buy a home only to move in it and year later still having issues. Most that are sent try to say most things are normal or patch things only for it to fall back down or apart within a few hours or days. There are a few more issues but these are just a few. Let's also not forget the constant run around with what is factory responsibility or dealers. We bought the home and repair issues shouldn't be such a hassle. It is their responsibility to delegate who is responsible for which items.
BJ, we're sorry to hear about the ongoing issues you're experiencing with your home. A member of our Customer Advocacy Team will be in touch shortly with more information.

I started looking online for reputable home dealerships in this area but I live in the middle of nowhere so there’s nothing actually right by me. Clayton Homes came up in my Facebook as ad with like $8,000 worth of energy efficient upgrades for free. So we went up there and checked it out. We found a house that we liked but we ended up getting a different one because they had one in Artesia that was ready to go and it was a lot closer than having to wait from Albuquerque. But the people that we dealt with were all in Albuquerque and we ended up closing on it about three months earlier than we had planned on.
Everything was great throughout the home buying process and my home consultant was amazing. Marie was very nice and down to earth. We had already picked one out but before we had the appointment to sign everything, my husband had a heart attack so we had to push it off for a couple of weeks. She was very compassionate and willing to work with us on not being able to get out there right away. It is three hours away.
The only dissatisfaction that we had was we had ordered a gas model and it wasn’t until the day that the one in Artesia was shipped that we were told that it wasn’t gas. It was electric but it was fine. They had said that we would get a $550 prepaid card for Lowe’s to get a gas stove once everything had been completed and the loan has been financed. But we never received that. When we called about it, they told us we would just have to go and pick one out then they would pay for it. We were gonna buy one during Black Friday because Lowe's had a really nice one on sale for $550. It was knocked down like 300 bucks. But the loan hadn’t completely closed yet. We had thought about using our own money to do it but thankfully, we didn’t. We’ve just been waiting until they go on sale again.
The home has been in place since November and we’ve already got weather-stripping issues and shingles falling off. We were also told that the type of foundation that they were putting it on was guaranteed to not shift, and it has. There are places where when you walk in it, it squeaks. Plus when we first moved in, the windows all opened and closed fine. But when we were starting to get hotter weather, we opened the windows since we don’t have an air conditioning unit on ours. When I went to open my youngest son’s bedroom window, it actually cracked. But I just need to call Clayton Homes and let them know.
We're glad to hear that everything got sorted out and that you're happy in your new home, Cortney. We appreciate you taking the time to tell us about your experience as well. Congratulations on your new home!

The rep was great. She was very helpful and the buying process had its little ups and downs, but it was good. Clayton Homes was in communication with me and so far, so good. I'd recommend them.
Thanks for the feedback, Alisha! The home buying process can be very complicated and prone to ups and downs, so thank you for sticking with us! Congratulations on your new home!

I have known Clayton Homes forever and I ended up buying in Bowling Green, Kentucky because that's where I set the home. The home buying process was very easy and I can brag on Barry but I can't brag on anybody else. Clayton Homes SE is the worst outfit I've ever dealt with in my life and I've been in business for 55 years. I bought two homes at the same time and Anita was fairly helpful. She helped with some of the things in the home like the lighting, the flooring and the cabinet colors. But she was very poor on following up after the fact. After the homes were delivered and we started calling and trying to get something done, she was absolutely no help whatsoever.
They had set the homes in October and both homes had the same problems. They were shipped with no doors and the people who came to install the doors put the cabinet faces. The same idiots worked at both homes. I have one home leased out and when the people renting it opened the doors, the cabinet doors fell off. It's just been horrible. I can't get my cabinets repaired. They won't come back and repair them. I would not recommend SE Homes to anyone. I'm still fighting with them right now. In fact, if I haven't heard from someone by Monday, I'm probably gonna let my attorney in our company go ahead and take care of it. Barry, on the other hand, is I think the fellow who runs that Clayton dealership at Bowling Green and he's been very helpful. He's done everything he can to help.
We appreciate your feedback, James. We're glad to hear that you liked working with Barry, but we're sorry that the rest of the service didn't go as expected. A member of our Customer Advocacy Team will be in touch with you to see how we can assist.

Clayton had a home already set on land and they told me about it. I went to see it and I was hooked from there. They took me step-by-step. Some days, it took more time. But other than that, my satisfaction with the home and the home consultant was great. They showed me everything and they walked me through everything. It was perfect. I worked with Bob and he was wonderful. I had a water sprinkler in the front yard, but they didn’t have one for the backyard. I explained to them about putting a water sprinkler in the backyard, and they came and said that they would do it. They put it on there, so it was great. I love the quality of my home. I’ve recommended Clayton Homes to about four different people.
We are so grateful to have you as a customer, Gwen! What a kind review that was! We're so glad that you enjoyed working with Bob and that your home buying experience went so well. We consider it the ULTIMATE compliment when our customers recommend us to their friends and family, so we are especially flattered you've done that for us FOUR times. Thank you! Congratulations on your new home!

I chose the Clayton home model I went with for the price of it. Then I changed out the door knobs because that’s what I do for a living and I really don’t like the factory ones that come from Clayton Homes. But I was supposed to do house placement to put the four corners of where I wanted the house to sit and that never happened. So they just put it wherever they wanted to. The person in charge of doing the grading also pissed me off a little bit because he never communicated. But the experience with the salesman was pretty good. My stepbrother is also in the process of buying a home from Clayton Homes right now. I sent him up there.

As far as getting the house with the energy package, it seem like Clayton Homes had the better quality homes. And after I talked to my friend that works in their corporate office, he reassured me of that too. The buying process was fairly easy, but it took us a while to find exactly what we wanted because there was so many options. When we found something we did like, we had some changes made to it, which was not a problem.
We changed the master bath. Most of them have the garden tub and just the regular show stall. My wife has a real bad knee and she's got arthritis in it real bad. After going and looking at several of the model houses and trying to get in and out, she felt like that may not be good for her. So we did the tile walk-in shower, and they made a very large one for us. Then in the kitchen, my wife got the pot rack hanging over the island. She got the light fixture, and then the grid thing on it with the little hooks on it to hang your pots on. And then, we got hand-laid rockface on the side that doesn't have the cabinets. For the kitchen sink, we went with the farmhouse. And we were able to get a microwave added above the stove. It's all worked great.
We've had some problems with the fan in the master bathroom. It works, but it leaks. There's water leaking straight through, and they've done several things. It works even when it's leaking because it's just water and it's running straight from outside when it was raining. But there's been no damage to the roof or the inside ceiling. It was just coming straight through the fan, and they hadn't figured out what the deal is. They've changed the top and changed the fan itself. But they've always been quick to get out here and work on any issues we've had. The salesperson we worked with just started there and she did awesome. Everybody else we've dealt with has been great.
How wonderful, Jerry! We're so excited to hear that your home buying experience went so well and that you were able to customize your home! It sounds like it's exactly what you and your wife needed and wanted, which is exactly what we want. Thank you so much for taking the time to tell us about your home buying experience. Congratulations on your new home!

Buying the home was a good experience and Clayton Homes' customer service was very good. I also like the place but the setup of the home was kind of iffy. The waterline had to get inspected so they had to leave that pit open and of course, I had to fill it in. Now, I'm having trouble with the hookup where it's going into the septic system. The ground is not leveled at all either, except for where the home sits. It was just left. I didn't understand that part. It was never conveyed to me that that's how their policy is. It cost me $12,000 for them to install the thing and they didn't specify exactly what was my responsibility was and what their responsibility was. Communication was poor.
Although they installed the home properly, put the pillars in and hooked up the electric then the floor, they left things a mess as far as all the cleanup we had to do around the property. They couldn't do part of it but part of it, I thought they were supposed to do or maybe they weren't. Cleaning was just a lot more work for me than I thought it should have been.
Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us, George. We're glad to hear that your home buying experience went so well, but we're sorry that the setup and follow up has been less than expected. We're going to follow up with your Home Center and see if there is anything we can do to assist.
