Clayton Homes' rep was decently fast. We had a few issues where we would talk about one thing and I thought we agreed on it, and then it didn’t end up happening. The issue was probably just communication. That or just a whole lot of paperwork. He seemed to know the process through a good part of it but didn’t seem to understand a lot of it. I do construction for my day job so I know a decent amount of stuff, and there were some things that he was saying that wasn’t lining up.
The home is beautiful. But I just noticed in the recent months that there were some things that I feel like the builders or the guys in the factory could’ve done a bit better, or gave a little more effort. I had some drywall damage. And there were holes that they drilled for the vent that didn’t end up getting used, so I just have holes on my floor that lead outside. And I’m having heating issues in the house right now. I have contacted them about a few things, not about the heating yet. I was waiting on them to come out and fix some drywall issues. But I also had them come out multiple times to come fix my shower because the tile, where the grout is, is separating, cracking. There were holes and I can’t really use my shower. I just hope they would not try to rush the process as much. They really seemed like they were trying to rush it a bit, especially near the end. And they didn’t really listen more.

I've got a four bedroom and two full bath mobile home. I got the biggest model they made. But I'm not too keen with what I got. When I walk in my office, the floor creaks like it's a 100-year-old house. My island cracked, and the back half of my house is colder than the center of the house. My sister emailed Clayton and sent them pictures. I'm waiting to see if they're gonna come and fix it. But it's the holidays, so I ain't pushing the issue. From the model I looked at, I changed the master bedroom to what I wanted. We also changed it to a stand-up shower.
I like to come out the master bedroom into the living room. But there's no light switch at the door in the living room, so I have to walk all the way across to the front door to cut the living room light on. It ain't dark, but it seemed like there should be a light switch when I exit the bedroom. It was little things like that has deterred me on this. I noticed it after I purchased it. You don't see little things like that when you see the modular homes. But I like the mudroom and I love the layout of my house.

We moved into our home in early April. Shelley at Pelham was a wonderful salesperson and every time I had a question or needed anything done, she was the one that did it. I could text her and she would respond immediately. I could call her and she would call me back. Shelley was very helpful. But I've had a lot of issues with some of the appliances when we first got our home. The brand new dishwasher didn't work and I had to get somebody out there to fix it. They have fixed it, but the dry mode on it where it's supposed to dry the dishes still doesn't work. The guy with the septic tank was not so good. Also, my trim is already falling off or popping off. Clayton should have better contractors. Other than that, we're enjoying our home.

I worked with two people and they were great. The man that I bought the home straight from was Billy, and I also dealt with a girl named Holly. One day, she called me and asked me if everything was all right, and I told her I had some problems. She told me that they would take care of them right away. Sure enough, they did. The next day, they came, and everything was fixed. Everything is working fine so far now. We’re in a senior citizen mobile home park. There's nothing but senior citizens here and I love every minute of it. Everything is looking good.

We were looking for a home and we went to a couple of other mobile home places and stopped in at Clayton. My wife knew what she was looking for and Clayton Homes had it at the price that we wanted it at. The buying process was pretty good, but the other stuff wasn’t so great. When we moved the trailer in, we had problems underneath it when they come and hooked the AC unit and other stuff up. They independently contract people to come out and fix things here in Bowling Green. It took a while to get all that done. Some of the stuff didn’t get fixed and the guy that was supposed to fix it never showed up a couple of times. So the actual Clayton Homes seller, Duane, came out and did it himself for us. Our experience was really good for the most part.

Decided to purchase a Clayton home after visiting several dealers. Sales people were very nice and not pushy-stated that their homes were better built. The house is not better built. Ceilings all cracked and had to be redone, new window put in, new master sink installed that does not drain. Shower doors were loose and not sealed. Lots of scratches and glue on appliances, sinks, counters etc. Counter top not level. Blinds are easy to see in when shut. Kitchen faucet loose and is leaking. Air in pipes, water leak under house repaired twice. Repairmen very polite but got texture on everything including computer, monitor and keyboard. Paid more for this house than what Palm Harbor had negotiated and it is not a better house. I want a partial refund on house purchase.

We went to another place to look at homes and Clayton was down the road, so we stopped there too and we were able to speak with somebody. The home consultant suck you right in, but they did not fulfill the obligation, and we’ve had to really work to get anything done here. We did a walk-through, but there’s a lot of things you can’t catch on a walk-through. Clayton had the workers back. I had to get on their case to get them to come back out here and do things. And most of them were done correctly, but they still have work that needs to be done here that they have not done. And they came in this week unannounced, and gave us a letter that they were only gonna take care of what issues were on the walk-through and that they weren’t gonna come back and do anything else. Our year is not up yet and there’s a lot of work that needs to be done here. And some of it is structural.
We’re senior citizens. We paid a lot of money for this house and we’ve gone through a lot. Their customer service sucks. They were great until they got your money. I wish they could fulfill their promises. They came out here and they were supposed to plant so much grass seed around here, and none of it grew. They covered it up with straw. I’m totally frustrated. I talked to the service manager on one occasion about getting some stuff done. He told me he had 100 other houses to do. And I told him I don't care about the other 100 houses. I care about the one I bought. When me moved in here, the house was not ready. They didn't even clean it. It was a nightmare just to move in. And we didn't even know it because we couldn't get in here until they let us in. And now, we can walk from the bedroom to the bathroom, and we hear floorboards moving.
If anybody asks us about Clayton Homes, we’ll tell them not to buy it. We don’t want anybody to go through what we have. In fact, we’re thinking about just writing letters to State’s Attorney General because we are senior citizens and they have taken advantage of us, and I am not a happy camper about it. We don’t need this. Had I known then what I know now, I wouldn’t have bought it, and I would not buy another.
We're sorry to hear about your experience, Douglas. A member of our Customer Advocacy Team is going to reach out to you with more information.

Resty, the Clayton Homes rep, was always upbeat and delightful. We sometimes had some difficulty with including any communication from the mortgage company as to where things were at and Resty was very patient when we would be calling in and asking him for help. If he knew anything or heard something, he would always contact us immediately to let us know. That was fantastic.
My situation is particular because I'm helping my parents take care of my grandparents. My grandmother is confined to a wheelchair, so I have to have a specific set up in a home in order for her to be able to get through the house. Clayton Homes worked with me to find a home within my budget that would work for that. They also helped me being able to roll into the mortgage and being able to take and combine two end rooms into one big room, so grandma would have an area that she could be in. She's gonna have carpet and lots of things. It was over and above and we appreciated everything. Clayton Homes made it a great experience. I love them.

Clayton Homes was close to my house, so I went riding around to each of the trailer places or mobile home places that was near my house. I was trying to work on my house and it took me four years to get it, so it was a long process. And throughout that process, I was going to each place talking and looking at different homes and Clayton was the one I like best for the price. The house was nice for the price. I like darker tone wood and a subtle tone, and that was what the house had. I liked the open floor plan, I call it two living rooms, between the two living rooms and the kitchen.
Their reps were easy to deal with. They were great. I started with Jean who was a really good talker, but he was a really good guy at the same time. He did a lot for us. Towards the end, we moved more towards the managers and the financial department, and they were awesome too. They threw in some extras that I don’t think other companies would have done, like they bought us blinds after we got the house. They bought one for each window in the whole house. They didn’t have to but they did that out of goodwill, and it was over $500. There were a couple of issues with the brick masons' part. We called the trailer company and they called the brick mason right away. And they were on top of it. They didn’t let anything wait. They assured me the whole time. Once they looked at my taxes and we got approved, they showed me that everything would be fine. So far, everything is good on their end.

My home buying experience was good. Our salesman, Brent, was extremely knowledgeable about the homes and it made everything easy. It was the first time we met him, but he seemed real friendly. He was very knowledgeable about the homes, the processes, and how everything went. We had lot and lot of questions and he answered all of them. We were worried that stuff wasn't gonna go the way it was and he put our minds at ease. Then, we had some things in the home changed up and they did it at the factory. We had a farm sink put in and had the roof raised for the ceiling fans in all the bedrooms. We also had an updraft, the ceiling vent, the air vents put in the ceiling, and just the little small details. So, we love our new home. We've lived for a while in the community where the home is in and we actually own the land that it sits on.

I had bought land, so I wanted to go with a new home build. At first Clayton Homes was good. As soon as I signed the paperwork, everybody's attitude changed. That was when it went downhill. When my house was sent, there were still cracks that were supposed to be fixed. For them to get somebody to come and do it took a while, and I’m still having them send people out to fix stuff that were supposed to be fixed almost six months ago. They have not said anything to me, but they sent a guy out last week who had the pictures of the light fixtures that were supposed to be sent and installed. When I got home, they did not even bring the light fixtures. They brought some other ones and stuck them in there. So, now, I’m waiting again to have them come back out and redo that. I would not do it again.

I had a company that I was going through financial-wise and got down to the last minute, it was sent to Clayton corporate. Then they denied the company because supposedly, they had a couple of homes out there that they had not finished paying for. So I had to start all over with the financial process and that delayed me. I was out about $400 because I couldn't reuse the appraisal I had done. So, I wasn’t very happy about that.
There were some things that the rep tried to not do that was in the contract. I wanted a 16-foot driveway and he tried to get out of making a 16-foot because it was gonna take more gravel than what he told me it would. The home has poor quality. I’m still having some issues, and they’re still working on it. But I wish I’d known the quality of the home. I know Clayton uses different people to build houses. They have various styles but the quality that was in mine was poor. They put the Sheetrock up and you can see indentions where they just used primer paint. They didn’t use paint. For what you’re paying for, they should use real paint. The floors are squeaking now. Also, my bedroom is 4 degrees cooler than the rest of the house.

The staff in Greer seemed like from the get-go really wanted to help and make things go smoothly. They were very helpful. They would always give the answer I needed whether it be the one I wanted or not. If they didn't know the answer to a question, they would find the answer and then pass it along to me. David was great. He stayed in touch through the whole buying process. Even after we've done everything, he still calls me from time to time to make sure we're still happy. I like the quality of our home! We've had a couple of little issues, but one gentleman always made everything right. The issues were nothing major that would ever deter me from buying another home from Clayton.

Rob was the one I dealt with as soon as I got to Clayton and he did a great job. He met me at the door and I said that this was what I needed and that I'd go someplace else if he didn't have it. He told me that I was meant to be there. I’m a simple person and I told him that I didn’t need bells and whistles. Everything went perfectly. I love to cook and I use skillets so I didn’t want a dishwasher. I told the people that I wanted a cabinet instead and they did it for me. There were a few little things that I changed like the cabinet thing and the countertop. I wanted close to it or the same and they did everything like I said.
The cost of building a home is so expensive. They kept telling me that they would take care of everything for me and that was what happened. The only thing was that whenever they'd come and work, they had to work around the weather. But I still got in within just a couple of months from the moment that I walked in over Clayton. I’ve had family and friends come there and I told them that if anything would happen to their home or if their family got married and needed something, they would definitely go there.
Wow! Shirley, it sounds like you got the perfect home for you. We're so glad to hear that Rob took such good care of you and helped make sure the right changes were made for you. We went to church with Eric from down at Sevierville, and my wife worked with him. When we were moving back, we decided on a mobile home. We knew we'd probably deal with Eric so we didn't have any questions about who to talk to. We told him what we wanted and how we wanted to have it built. He told me what he could do, what he couldn't do. He did an excellent job. Everything up to now, we've had it taken care of. We've got a few things we needed them to come back and fix before our year's out on it, but as of today, everything has gone really well. We had a death in our family when we ordered the home, and Eric said, "Don't worry about the home. We'll get everything done." I couldn't ask for anything better.

Clayton Homes is close to where I live, so that was just the first one I ran across and their home buying process could be better. The salesman was trying to get me to pay out of pocket that was not included on the contract or the final layout of everything, and there was just a lot of miscommunication going on, and still going to this day. I dealt with a few different people. The walk-through was fine, but not everything that should have been discussed was discussed. Also, I had to call them for questions and most of the time, their reps would answer them all right. But every time I've called up there and left a message for somebody or something, I've always had to call back. Nobody called me back.
When you look at the home, it does look good. But when I got into the home, I found issues. It was poorly built. I was dissatisfied. At every turn, I'm having a fight with them over every little thing that's going wrong with my house to not everything being openly discussed like it should have been. For instance, when I first got my house, I've been having my house for about seven months, and I've been having people work on it ever since I've got it, and a lot of it had to do with the siding of my home. I've been waiting for three weeks now for somebody to come out and fix the siding again. I've already had them come out three or four times to fix it. Clayton Homes is the only ones that can work on it. They said if I get anybody else to do anything, it will void my warranty.
Cody, we're sorry to hear about the issues with communication you experienced during your home buying process. We're going to touch base with you directly for more information.

My wife looked into Clayton Homes. She drove me in there and it was the best experience I ever had as far as buying a home. The rep helped and showed us every house that they had to pick the one that we would want. They didn’t pressure us. The guy was so laid back that it was just a pleasure working with him. Finally, I ended up picking a new energy-efficient, and it came down to about nine-grand on it. I got a really nice house and it was a good experience. The buying process was pretty easy. I only showed up twice. One was to look at our home and tell them that where they were at was not it. It was a one-day-in, and that had been quick. The home is all electric and our electric bill is actually a little bit lower than it was last year. It’s just big enough. It got a lot of rooms. I love it. I wouldn’t trade it with anything.

I needed to get moved pretty quickly and I told Clayton my situation. I had to be out by no later than April the 15th. I had good credit and I had all my paperwork in order. I started the process on January the 17th and I took all my paperwork to them on the 23rd. The rep seemed like on the 17th, it wouldn’t be an issue and then 23rd, she acted like we’d be closing in just under a week or so but that never played out. We were supposed to close on February the 6th but we didn't wind up closing ‘til March the 12th. The house was delivered on April 23rd and I wasn’t ready to move in until May the 15th. It took four months on the in-stock house. It was not what I was promised and it put me in a real bind.
I have numerous issues with the house. They’ve had to put at least four doors, two front and two rear, and the rear door is still all messed up. And when they built it, they left rubber bands, wood shavings, and trash underneath the material. They had to rip floors out of it and fix all that. Also, I still have issues with my plumbing. For two and a half months, I sat down here and drank dirty water. The guy that did it improperly installed my faucet. It was their wrongdoing and it took two and a half months of me drinking dirty water to get them out here to fix it. Then, the plumber had to come back because another part they fixed broke, then it started filling my front yard up with sewage water.
I’m fixing to be going to court with the contractor that cleared my land. Clayton hired the contractor and on January 31st, I met him out here and the first thing I asked was if it's okay to put a trailer on the land because I got a huge drop on the west side of the property and he said yes. So, then, I asked if he could push all tress into one big pile outback, away from where the house is gonna be. But he pushed a tree into another large tree. It’s 25 feet from my house and he left it hanging. Now, the tree is dead and it’s dropping dead limbs everywhere. He damaged two other pines on the other side of my property, 30 feet from my house. They're now dying because he busted the roots.
I wasn’t planning on moving that pile any time soon but the way he left it, I had to move it and I had to pay to have it moved. They agreed to pay 550 for that. And I’ve tried to get him to take the tree down while he was here. The bulldozer was here and he had chains he hauled it with. He could have easily taken a chain, hooked it around that base of that tree, pulled it to the ground, and pushed it off with the rest of them. That’s a 5-minute job and he didn't do it.
I’m looking at $2,250 to get the trees fixed. I got an estimate a couple of weeks ago. For three months, I couldn't get an answer so I finally just chose to do something else. I contacted BBB but that was zero help. I’ve got the pictures to prove it and nobody wants to listen to me. So, I’m gonna file a case in court and take them to court. I hate to do it, but I got no other options. You can’t leave a man with dangerous trees on his property. That’s an unwanted and unnecessary expense and I shouldn’t have to pay for that.
We're sorry to hear that your buying experience didn't meet your expectations, Randall. We're going to pass along this feedback to our retail team and will use it to better our processes in the future.

We’ve been looking for a home for years, and the salesperson over at Clayton Homes finally found one that we liked, and we bought it. The whole buying process was easy for us. We ordered it, had it in three weeks, and moved in a month later. It was painless and quick. Everything was great with our rep. Lacey was her name. In fact, I just got a Christmas card from her today. She’s wonderful.
We changed the countertops and the flooring of our new home. We've put the crown molding in, the six-panel doors, and the Ecobee thermostat. There was a window in the back by the dining room where we’ve put sliding doors in. We upgraded the carpet, too. Every issue that we’ve had has been taken care of right away by Clayton. And we just had a few minor issues. The quality of our home is very good. I’ve seen a lot of these homes and this one is like the best quality I’ve seen.

My son just bought a double-wide from Clayton, and I went over there right after he did and got one. It didn’t take long because I went over and paid cash for it. They came and put the trailer, and they told me they were gonna round it off, mount it and then put the trailer on it so it wouldn’t hold water underneath it. They sunk tractors out here and never even put dirt back under it, and it’s holding water. I called the rep two weeks ago. He said he was gonna come over a look at it and he hasn't been here yet.
I bought the trailer last December, and the rep was in a hurry to get it off there because he said he was reliable for it. And they just rushed it over here and put it on there and didn't do any of the yard work. The people that put the trailer in didn't even leave a mark anywhere. But the people that has come over and fixed stuff has been alright.

In order to be able to get the mobile home, there were several things that we had to do that we didn’t know about from Madison County until we already submitted the bank and stuff. The guy from Clayton stepped up and he helped us get through all of that. He did more than anybody else would’ve done, so we were pleased with him. We were trying to work on one end and he was trying to work from another end. So, we kept in touch with each other and let each other know what was being done and what needed to be done. We got some issues that we called about and needed correcting. The guy fixed some things and then he said that the manufacturer needed to come and fix the others. We called and the lady that answered the phone said that she was gonna send the people that made the mobile home. That’s still pending but so far, it’s good.

I like the way this trailer was made. I asked for a high commode because I am a senior citizen and I had one in my house, and I got that. The home-buying process with Clayton was all right. But once you get in on the lot, if you got some kind of problem, it takes too long to get it fixed. I had a problem with the Vent-A-Hood. The man came, took the Vent-A-Hood out, went to his truck and didn’t have a Vent-A-Hood that was ready there. It took weeks for him to get here, and then it took that long again for him to get back.
I called about my front door. It’s glass, but then it’s a wood door. The glass is sweating, and when I called, we had had a real cold night and the door was full of ice. The lady was gonna get with the fellows and call me back. But she haven’t called me yet. The door is full of water right now. The temperature is supposed to get down in the 20s at night and we have ice on the door at night. I hate to keep calling, and then you can’t get the one you wanna talk to. But as for the quality of the home, so far, so good. I got a big window in the dining area and I had a problem with getting air, and they got that straightened out.
Mae, thank you so much for your feedback. We're so glad to hear that you were able to get the things you needed in the home. However, we're sorry that the repairs took longer than expected. They had their restore program. I went to other ones and they said they did restore stuff, but I didn’t like their attitude. I then went with Clayton. I bought the house in April and it was delivered in April. Everything went fine with the purchasing process and Patty, the salesgirl was good. They came and fixed everything I asked them to fix. I told the guy when he was doing the house, coming in doing repair, this is not a 16-wide trailer and he had no comment. The title says 16 but it’s more like a 14. If you measure it, the inside diameter is just over 14 feet. If you count the thickness of the walls and stuff, it’d be just over 15. All my neighbors have 16 foot wide trailers and theirs are 16 foot. They bought 16 foot and they got 16 foot trailers, inside diameter. I called Clayton when I found out right away. They said they’d look into it but I haven’t heard anything from them.

We’re old people and we came from a log house. We had to move. I dealt with three different managers from Clayton Homes and all three of them were gone. I was mad for a while and I was gonna do away with the whole thing, and it went on for six months. The purchasing process started around Christmas last year and we didn’t get the house ‘til about June. But the manager I got now was a little more on the ball. He knew what he was doing. We just had two or three minor things happened and they serviced them quick, quicker than I'd ever dreamed of. We got that taken care of.
My wife looks after her parents and that was the reason I got the double-wide. It’s awful hot inside, but it’s got the right amount of windows. The only thing I don’t like is the heat pump. It’s next to the kitchen and when it runs, you hear it all over the house. But we can get used to that. So, we’re mostly happy with them. I’d recommend them to anybody. I was a little confused for a while, but the last part of the process was great. I was happy with the experience and I like the home.
Thank you so much for your honest feedback, John. We're sorry to hear that you experienced some turnover with the General Managers at your location, thank you for sticking with us through all that. Clayton Homes was not the best. I had an issue with my front door. It wasn't straight. One side was sitting off two inches different than the other. I called on to the main office and they said they'd get back with me, but they never did. I called the guy from Clayton and I told him the experience because the Clayton home came from the other company and they bought them out. I was having issues with the manager at the other place too and I just got frustrated. I started with the other company that they bought out. All these were handed over to Clayton and when I was going back, I couldn't get stuff done. I had to go through the whole experience. It has been a year now and I still got the same issue. But it is what it is.
Purchasing this home through Clayton took me a little longer because I had to get my land straight. They call it the land lot. So, it took me about a year to get the land straight and that was when I got the house. But when I got the house straight, they were supposed to deliver it in one day. They didn't come that day and delivered it another day. When it came, they were gonna put the sewer tank in the wrong spot. I had to take off from work and I was there. They had learned it was going in the wrong spot. But they changed that window and then the tank was on the way, so they had to reroute it. They got permission to reroute. When they checked, they didn't know where they rerouted this home and how they did all of that.
When they did it with a crane, they just sit the house up and then took off. I was there too and I'm a crane operator in a shipyard. I don't know why they were hooked up in the middle with a house joining it. So when I was there watching it, I stopped them because they didn't see that port. It was hectic. The manager went up there and told me he'd lay that and was gonna put a stand in the house. But he didn't and he didn't put the black plastic under the house. They gotta to remove the sticks and all the stuff where they put the stand on before they put the house down. But he didn't know that. So, everything I went through and had to get done, I was talking to the manager and I was going through some stuff. So, I just gave up and do what I had to do.
My Clayton home wasn't a nice one. I wouldn't recommend them. Somebody called me and asked me about it, but they had the house built instead. I told them if I was to deal with them again, I wouldn't. They'd get you to pay $500. It means you're interested with the house and the contract. It seems like when the ball is in another park, you will need to take your time to do this and do that. Another thing, when I bought the house there, they broke some stuff and they didn't replace it. They went ahead and cleaned the house. I've been cleaning the carpet and then I got to report on the carpet. The carpet wasn't in the best position. They were stuck like already worn by being set up so long at the place. But they didn't replace any of that. There was one cut in front of the stove and it had burned. We replaced all that. It was just one thing after another.

Put tiny slits in my flooring in 2 rooms then glued it down. Said it's permanent. Both peeling.... Floor squeaks in several places. Oh did I mention the lumps in the padding under the carpet? Be sure and take your shoes off when looking. Sounds crazy but you'll be glad you did... Oh and be careful if they are offering a rebate. It will get absorbed by "incentives". Just be sure everything is right before you take those keys, after, you will be forgotten. If I had it to do all over again, I'd shop around.

And they helped us put on a little budget and do the financing, just to make sure that it was something that we would be able to afford. Our consultant Mark was great. He was very knowledgeable about the homes and the buying process. We could call him at any time with any questions or concerns, and he would always get back to us as quick as he could. We were going to buy a trailer to put down in a farm and we went over to Clayton Homes and told them what we wanted, and it was all top-notch. The reps helped us and showed us what they had available and everything worked out great. We bought the trailer and they were most gracious. They took it to our property, set it up and got everything in working order even though they had to make several trips because of different things. The trailer shakes loose when you move them and Clayton got everything in working order. My grandson lives in Tulsa so he would meet the reps from Clayton there when they’re doing to do something and they were always there just like they said. We gave him the key to the gate so they could get in. We got some water damage and Clayton took care of that and fixed it.
The trailer was going to be used by all of us and half of it belongs to my granddaughter and the other half belongs to my grandson. But my grandson wanted it mostly because he likes to hunt and my farm down there is mostly a hunting area so, we go down there for relaxation. He uses the trailer more than I do. They love it, because it has a bathroom and they have a four-year-old and a two-year-old. It’s a nice trailer, very comfortable and they have everything working properly. They will enjoy it and it’s a place to go for Thanksgiving and Christmas.

I bought the house from Clayton in Ocala and then, I bought a Peach Series Home in Waycross, Georgia. I’m still waiting for some of the stuff to get done on my house and some of the workmanship leaves a lot to be desired. The reps from Clayton had to come back a multitude of times to get stuff done and they don’t pay a lot of attention to the kind of work that they do. When they came and put on the piece of the countertop that fell off three times, they didn’t make sure it was flush, so I had to go and get something to make it look pretty. There was a big list written down and at Ocala, they said that they would fix some of it so, Chris, the guy from Clayton in Ocala that I deal with at the local manufacturing home facility, is taking care of the Ocala end. I’m still waiting for Waycross to fix their half.
Just this week, the drawer front on my kitchen drawer slider fell right off, just sitting there and that’s ridiculous. It’s a brand-new home and I don’t have to worry at all to have to pick up the phone and say I need things fixed but I am still waiting three months to put dishes in my dishwasher. There was one person who said that when they put in my dishwasher, they had to replace it because it was damaged. The replacement was also damaged and she said that I was gonna have to contact the warranty company to get them to replace it. I told them that I was not gonna contact the warranty company for that. They said that was how it was done. That was unprofessional and that was Waycross in Georgia. I called Chris and he made sure it got fixed, but Waycross, Georgia never called me back on it as well as on the scratches on my shower doors.
Chris called back and tried to make sure that everything was getting taken care of but there were some stuff where I had to call back over and over to make sure that it gets done. The follow through hasn’t been a good thing from the Waycross perspective. The last time, they came through and they did some of the stuff they had to do, but they’ve called and said that the wrong piece of stuff was sent again. I was thinking if they didn’t know what house I have and how they couldn’t send me the right stripping piece of equipment. I don’t have the energy or the time for the lack of communication, waiting around and not getting a phone call, and the lack of professionalism.
Aside from the defective dishwasher and the front of the cabinets falling off, which are stuff I’ve had to fix myself, the doors are not even and I had to adjust them myself. They told me that the outside of my house wouldn’t mold too much but my doors are starting to mold, and I don’t really care for that. So, some of the quality is iffy but the house is good and very energy efficient and I like that.

Also, they need to improve from the manufacturing standpoint. I’ve got several issues that still need to be taken care of. We chose real porcelain sinks and wood cabinets and they are nice. We also picked a few other colors, so we had had choices. We had one little issue, however, with the way they manufacture when they did the electrical outlets. When they were skinning the wire, putting a crease in the wire, and bending it to put it in the receptacle, they were using this piece of equipment and then the wire was breaking. So then I had no electricity downstream from those. But when I called the vendor, they took care of things quickly.
Some of the setup could have been much better. The house was dirty when we moved in and my wife was livid. She had to clean everything. Open the cabinets and there was sawdust everywhere. All the windows were dirty, all the stickers were still on the window. I've never seen her that mad over something. That, however, had something to do with the service from the vendor and had nothing to do with Clayton. Overall, I am happy with the product. The home consultant walked us through the homes that we wanted to buy and then she went through the whole process with us. She explain things thoroughly. Whenever they told me they were going to bring the house up, they said that if there are trees that are hanging on the road, I was responsible to get a hold of the homeowners of the properties they were on to have the permission to cut them. I figured that would have been Clayton Homes’ responsibility, but it wasn’t. Nevertheless, I got the whole house up here for under $100,000. So, I thought that was a decent price for how far they had to move it and all the setup. You get what you pay for.
Thank you so much for sharing your experience with us, Chad! We love hearing how thorough your home consultant was in making sure you knew exactly what to expect. It sounds like everything worked out well even with a few hiccups with the trees hanging. Congratulations on your new home and thank you for choosing Clayton!

Clayton Homes was amazing. I love my home and the service that I continue to get from them. They’re great people. My consultant was Keith and he was very friendly and warm. He has a great personality and a wonderful sense of humor. If he didn’t know a thing, then he was real quick to get the research done and get me prompt, accurate answers on a thing. He was knowledgeable about what was available in the trailer, and how, when and where it was built, and what I could expect. Any changes that I may have wanted to prescribe, he made that happen and he followed up afterwards. He made that happen. In the process, I discovered that one of his daughters is a student of mine, so that gave me even an added on relationship there. I have nothing but high remarks about Keith. He is an amazing gentleman.
I love my new community. I searched long and hard, and it took me a year to find it. Once I found exactly what I wanted, I was very happy with what I found. The community is amazing. The only thing that keeps this from being a true dream home was the fact that it is a trailer. If it was the same kinda structure that would be lasting for 50 years, it would be even better. It’s the perfect place, though. It’s my dream home.
Amazing! We love hearing your story, Shirley! Thank you so very much for taking the time to tell us about your buying experience and about how wonderful Keith was to work with. Our Clayton consultant is very good at getting everything done. He knew what he was doing and he explained everything well. He was also honest with me that it takes a while for them to get people out. They had been out a couple of times but they gotta order some pieces for the siding of the house which was bowed out. Also, the roof in the bathroom is still leaking when the wind blows so they gotta come to fix that. It's been a couple of months since they've been back and I haven't heard anything from them. Other than these couple of things, they've come to do everything and I ain't disappointed with anything. Our home is good and we like it.
Thank you for the positive feedback, Joey! We're glad to hear that you were satisfied with your consultant and that most of your issues have been addressed. We're going to follow up with you directly regarding your roof still leaking.

Lancaster, where I bought the house, was fine. They have been really helpful there at the home center. Everything had been awesome there. They were perfect. My entire experience was great and that was excellent. Andrea, the home consultant we dealt with, was wonderful too. But, the house was thrown together. It was terribly built. We still had issues they haven't resolved. The issues they resolved are returning. They have been so hard to work with, too. There was no quality put in the house when it was built. It's literally falling apart and it's not even a year old. We bought the house in April.

Austin, the salesperson from Clayton Homes, did a fantastic job. He did as much as he could but we ended up having a big problem with the general manager, Tarrance. We had some major issues with him following through on anything that he said he would do. We have not been disappointed with the home itself and the salesperson that we initially worked with but the way that Tarrance handled the problems we ran into was extremely poor. We ended up having to relocate the mobile home because there were undisclosed deed restrictions that we were unaware of and never given, which I didn’t hold Clayton necessarily responsible for. But when we moved our home onto a new property, Clayton bought the lot next to us and did a package deal for another family.
Tarrance ordered that two-acre parcel to be completely scrubbed and cleared of all the trees on the property and the ground cover because the people wanted it dirt. They mistakenly cleared our entire two acres that we spent two weeks clearing a path for the mobile home to be delivered to and set on. We have now a corn field without corn. They took out over 100 trees and they were not willing to make it right. We called and made a police report because we did not know what happened and then after thinking about it, we thought that there was a possibility that Clayton had this cleared. There were 100 mesquite trees and Tarrance said those were weed but they were 6 to 12-foot weeds and were serving as a barrier and a privacy and a noise buffer, because the property is located on a highway. So, we said that if they wanna just put back 75 mesquite trees, if that’s what they were qualifying them, we were fine with that.
We ended up saying that we would take 5 shade trees and 30 cypress trees, something fast growing to kind of establish what we wanted. Tarrance was unwilling and said that they were not doing that and they would see us in court. We did not do a thing wrong and after the end of this six-month nightmare of having to spend 30 extra thousand dollars having to move that mobile home, and then having our lot scrubbed, he offered us $2,000, which would be the equivalent of maybe one matured tree and planting it. We didn’t cause that and we were willing to work with the mesquite trees. They were serving the purpose. We just had our first rain, and two people got stuck on the property because it is a mud puddle. So, we had to get a rock driveway just dumped so that we could even have access to the home at that point.
I’ve never sued anybody in my life, but at this point, we have suffered so much damage. All we wanted was some trees back. They trespassed on our property and mowed every tree over. They had a dirt work tractor out there for two days just mowing it and because the property is several miles from our house, we weren’t visiting it every day because we didn’t even have the whole move there yet. So, we had no idea until we went out to mark where they were going to put the pads for the mobile home being moved to, and we were met with this completely ploughed field. Our attorney that we just retained is writing a letter asking them to make this right. We aren’t suing for anything other than replacement of what they took down.
Everybody from Clayton has kinda removed themselves and we don’t have any interactions up until this point. My husband did write a review and we got a text message from the sales guy saying, “How dare you?” which was a little disappointing. We are not happy with how this is being settled and I feel badly because the salesperson has been nothing but great. Still, he can’t grant us what needs to be done. Hopefully, they’ll be willing to settle.
Thank you for your feedback, Julie. We're glad to hear that working with Austin went well, but we're sorry to hear that you weren't happy with Tarrance. We will certainly be passing along this feedback and using it to better our processes.

Vinyl siding coming off of our 2019 mobile home that we purchased in December 2018. We purchased a 2019 Clayton single wide in December 2018 from Clayton Homes in Statesboro, GA. We paid for upgraded vinyl siding on the house and was told that it would come with OSB. We started having problems with the vinyl siding shortly after purchasing the home. We had the individual that sold us the house and a repairman come out to the house to make repairs and was told that the house didn't have OSB on it and should have. The factory from Tennessee sent a technician out to make repairs in July, and he informed us that the whole house needed to be redone and needed OSB. When I called the factory, Angela told me that he was just a tech and didn't know what he was talking about as far as OSB was concerned. The factory then sent two individuals out, and they replaced all of the vinyl siding on the front and back of the house.
Six days later the vinyl was falling off again. They sent the same individual out to replace several pieces. I was informed by him that the factory had numerous problems with this vinyl. He also said that it would not lay the way it should because of it not having OSB or something to hold onto. Today, I again sent pictures of the vinyl siding that is coming off again and asked about OSB. Angela told me that she couldn't provide me with anything showing that OSB was an option or a form showing that I choose or didn't chose the option for OSB. We paid over $65,000 for this house for it to not be built the way it should be.

Clayton Homes kind of messed up on a couple of things. They didn’t give me the proper discount, and we had to work that out. I wasn't happy with their sales department. They didn’t try very hard. Luv Homes submitted the papers, and they turned it down, and then Edie, the home consultant, went to work and got it approved. He over backwards to help me. He did a good job. There were some things that we couldn’t get to until after they had gotten ready to finalize everything, but, overall, it went well. He communicated with us pretty often. The quality of the home could also be upgraded a little bit. They need to put a little more quality in these instead of just on the cheap stuff. We’ve upgraded a lot ourselves.

Clayton Homes went pretty smooth for the most part. The buying was simple and easy. And once we were ready for the home, it went easy there too. Our home consultant was very knowledgeable on all the details about the house. She was able to stay in communication by call and text throughout the buying process. The quality of the new house, however, is probably my least favorite about it. They used brad nails to do the trim. We had the air pressure up too much, and the trim shot all the way through. So, now, you bump its remnants all along.
The other thing is the fixtures. They have the vent and a Holby valve. The one in the kids' bathroom would get so hot until it can burn them, and then the one in the master bathroom doesn't even get hot. What they know here is that they put in a Holby valve to protect the kids because it gets so much hotter than ours. I've also talked with them on Amarillo, and they told me how to adjust it. But, with ours maxed out in our master bathroom, it is still not hot enough. So, with the quality of that stuff, you definitely can tell it is a manufactured house because it is the cheapest that you can buy.
Thank you for your feedback, Zachary. We're glad to hear that your home buying experience went well. I was driving down the road, and I saw that Clayton Homes had a business in Greenville. I saw one of the homes they had out there. I thought it was a beautiful home. So I stopped and inquired about it. The home buying process was very easy because of the home consultant. He was very personable like I was talking to a family member. I was a first-time home buyer, and they looked at my income and what kind of income I got. And he said by being first-time, I might not wanna extend myself so much. He was absolutely right 'cause I got so excited, I was like “I want this. I want this. I want this.” And he brought me back down to Earth and said to take my time.
He answered all of my questions, and if he didn’t know the answer, he got somebody who knew the answer. Plus they always said they were gonna call the next day if they didn't know the answer and they actually called me the next day. They were very prompt. They’re one of the most professional people to get a modular home or a trailer. They’ll take care of it. I love the quality of the home. I was able to pick out my tub. Initially, I was told that I could pick out everything that I wanted. But once the process got going, they came back and said that with the home that I got, I couldn’t. But that wasn’t a problem, because everything in the home, I ended up loving anyway.

I need some work done on my back door because you can see the outside from it. They had somebody come to adjust it once, but still I could stand in my bedroom, look at the bottom of my door and see daylight. It’s cold and it’s a heated room. It’ll destroy my electric bill. I think it’s just part of trailer settling. But then whenever I call them they come right out here and do what they need to do. We’re very satisfied with our home.
My wife initially went to George Humfleet Homes and they wouldn’t even come outside because it was cold. They told her when she finds what she wants to come and get them. My wife said that was stupid. She just got in her car, came back home and told me. I told her, “Just go up there to Clayton Mobile Homes. They’re good with people.” I wasn't able to go because I got a pacemaker and I can’t handle the cold weather
She went up there and she talked to Jimmy. It was raining and snowing, cold, and Jimmy didn’t care. He just got a coat on. He said, “Come on. We’ll find you a home.” They walked over all the lots and my wife found the home. She came and got me and we went back up there and talked to Jimmy. And he told us what our down payment was gonna be, so we went and got the money. I told him, “I got the money. I wanna go look at that trailer again.” He said, “Why, sure. We’ll go look at it. If you ain’t satisfied with that we’ll get you another one.” We went and looked at this one again. My wife said, “That’s the one I want.” And the manager up there, he’s something else. He’s a good man. I’d recommend Clayton Mobile Homes to anybody.

They've got the parts and they got to do that soon. Also I had a phone call from the home warranty people that Clayton offers. They tried to send the warranty papers to the address that the trailer was installed in. This is kind of a fishing camp down in Matagorda. That is not resident and there's no mailbox there. So I need to get those papers.
Nevertheless, the quality of the home is fine. The little issue with the glass is no big deal. The consultant I worked with was also great. He went out of his way to do everything for us. When my husband and I decided to buy one we decided it would last us for the rest of our lives since we are in our 79s. Wrong. They had to come out many, many times during our year warranty and should have after that. We got the extended 5 yr warranty but it was definitely a waste of money. Our unit sat on the lot for a year before we bought it but they did not tell us that until we started having problems. First thing we noticed was our laminate floor was not properly installed. It had bubbles all over it which one guy tried to fix. He just didn't get them all. They would not replace the floor. The next big thing was a leaky roof. It was caused by the contractor not filling the bolt holes when he put the trailer together. They fixed that but the roof was shot anyway. It is leaking at the point and and we are currently replacing it to the tune of $6,000. This is after living here only 2 years.
The inside doors are all warped. They do not hang right. They said they fixed this but they went right back like they were. The floor on one side of the house is off about 2 inches which they said they couldn't fix. The paint is coming off the cabinets because they are so cheap. The contractor supposed to finish our place was sorry. He used cheap lumber to build our porches and when you grab on the rail you get splinters. We had to have the back one redone. All the faucets are terrible quality. The silver color is flaking off and all will have to be replaced soon. The hot water in the tub has some contraption on it that does not allow the water to get more than semi warm and they wouldn't fix that.
Facings keep popping off and we have to hammer them back in. We had to have both outside faucets replaced because if you hooked a hose to them the valve popped off, another $325. These are a fraction of the problems we have with this home. I have addressed them with several reps, even the lady who is supposed to solve all our problems at corporate. We know nothing more will be done but take some advice. If you buy one from them look it over with a fine tooth comb. I forgot, the siding was crooked and had to be redone but the trim is horrible. It needs to be replaced but we are out of funds.

We went to Clayton because they had the size of the home that we wanted. I wanted to go through the Clayton in the county I work in, but they weren’t very helpful. But Ted was awesome, very energetic, and anything we’ve asked, he knew about. He was very straightforward and very honest. I was very pleased with Ted. I bought 15 and 1/2 acres of land, and I also bought a smaller home. The girl I first went and talked with there was awesome. And then we went back to Ted in Powell to see what the final numbers would be with him. We then went back to New Port in Cocke County, where we went to Clayton’s, and told the girl what we wanted. She got some man that was there to help her see which model that we wanted. When he came out, he said that we would want this model built in Maynardville. I told him no. We got one that’s out of White Pine, and I didn’t want one out of White Pine because we live in White Pine.
When I’m just out knocking around, I really don’t dress the nicest. I really think that the guy thought I was trash because he wanna know where we were gonna get financing. I told him that I was gonna get financing through Vanderbilt. And he said that I can’t get it though Vanderbilt and that I'm gonna have to go down to the local bank. I asked him why I can't get it through Vanderbilt. He said that Vanderbilt would not do it because the price of my property. I told him I don’t wanna go through Newport and I bank in Morristown. So I asked which banks I can go through in Morristown. He said that I can’t do it and that the only bank I can go through is in Newport. He said he got a guy there. But I’m not very comfortable going to Newport, and I wanna bank in Morristown. He still said that I can’t, and he wanted me go through that bank.
This guy also asked me who we were gonna get to put the driveway in. I said that I’m assuming they were gonna find me somebody. He said they don’t do that and we were gonna have to find someone to do all our grade work. He also said that we have to find someone to put our septic in. I had money to buy the property, but with the way I looked, he didn’t think I was worth his time. I had a very horrible experience. I’ve never been treated like that. But the girl that worked in Newport was very on it when we were there, and Ted went above and beyond. We got one of the TRU Homes. We wanted the pan bathtubs, so they did do that. I’ve been pretty happy with everything.
Thank you for your feedback, Bruce! We're glad to hear that you enjoyed working with Ted and that you ended up with the home you wanted. We're sure it looks beautiful on all that land you purchased! Congratulations on your new home!

I built a mobile home park last year from scratch, and then so I was riding around talking to different dealers and seeing which one I liked. So far, I've bought 12 homes from the people at Freedom Homes of Hattiesburg, and I’ll probably buy another 12 in the next year and a half. The people down here at Freedom Homes are not only awesome people to work with, but I’ve become friends with them. They’re good people. If I call or text these guys to tell I have a problem, a guy would be at my park fixing it within four hours. That kind of customer service can’t be bought. These people take care of me like I’m family.
The only customization I get is that I want no carpet in them because they’re rentals in a trailer park. So, I want it all vinyl. The first four I got were 2018 models, and they come with partial carpeting, and there was not an option in ’18. But when I bought four more, I had the option to go with all vinyl, and I went with it. I bought 5 2019s, and I bought one 2020. It’s all vinyl too. The only complaint I would have about the product is the vinyl floors are so thin. If you trip, it’ll rip it. It’s like paper-thin vinyl. But as far as the dealer and the people down there, you can’t find no better anywhere in the United States. I’m extremely happy with them.
Joe was my salesman, and Bo runs the place down there. And both of them are Johnny-on-the-spot. They got a guy down there named Clayton. He is their maintenance guy. He comes in there after they set up and preps everything the way it should be. He is the best in the business. He’s always there when I call him if I got an issue. I told Bo that he could charge me an extra $1,000 a home, and I’d still buy from them because of the customer service that I get. They are the best people to ever deal with.
Wow! We love to hear that, Tony! We want all our customers to feel like family, and it sounds like Freedom Homes in Hattiesburg is knocking it out of the park. We sincerely appreciate your feedback and your loyalty to Clayton.

We are very disappointed with our modular home which we still are not in. Mostly due to weather which no one could control. What disappoints us is the quality seems so cheap, less than builder quality. Cabinet doors very thin. No bumpers on those doors causing them to slam. Cabinet door handles made the doors splinter as obviously they were not installed correctly. A LOT of nail heads showing. No cool air return vents which was surprising to us as we weren't informed they wouldn't be provided.
A biggie was they transported all the heaving wood material for the roof, trusses for the peaks, including shingles, trim, siding etc. on the carpeted areas and it's still sitting in our home that was delivered 3 weeks ago, set a week ago. Never did we think it would take forever to get contractors out to finish the roof, siding etc. Not to mention we are living in an RV and need to get it winterized. We are nearing end of Oct and told we would be in our home before freezing temps hit otherwise we would have waited 'til next spring. Hindsight we would have done a stick built. Just mainly disappointed in the very cheap quality. Trim isn't even solid wood, not even sure what exactly it is?? Do your research better than I did. Hoping we get in our house before the end of the year which is 2 months still away.

One of my best friends live in a Clayton home for about 20 years, and it's in a really good shape. So I felt like it is a quality brand. And then, when I went in there, everyone was very nice. Hunter was the salesman and he was very friendly. He was not pushy. He didn't act like he was gonna die if I didn't buy from him, but he was very kind and answered all my questions and listened to what I wanted and showed me one that I really like. And then, he continued to be helpful through the whole process. He's a really great guy.
I'm very satisfied with the whole buying process. I moved in in March. I asked them to tape and texture some of the rooms and they did that for me. And we were gonna have to order it anyway, and so, I was able to pick the colors and so forth. I love the windows. I'm kinda claustrophobic and I got lots of windows and it's very open, and I really like that.
Thank you so much for the kind words, Jillene. Not only are we excited to hear that your friend's home is still doing so well, but we're thrilled to hear that your experience has been so great too! We'll be sure to pass along to Hunter's team that you enjoyed working with him. Congratulations on your new home!

The home buying process with Clayton Homes was good. David was my home consultant and he was excellent and truthful. But I’m waiting to get the inside of the house repainted because the paint job from the factory was very, very, very poor. You can see roller streaks all over the place. There are different shades in different places. They said they were gonna repaint it in three weeks, but nothing has happened yet.
The general contractor manager, Troy, who oversees Clayton's service wanted me to call a Hispanic gentleman to come and do the bit. He wasn’t gonna call him to come out. So, I called him, and the Hispanic man didn’t speak English, and my Spanish is not that good to explain what I need done. But once I finally could communicate with him a little bit, he didn’t even know he was supposed to come out. So I sent an email back asking about if I was supposed to contact the painter myself and get it all forward. But frankly, that’s not my job. Troy is very difficult to work with there.
I told Clayton that I wanted my home just like the showroom models. But it sucks right now because it’s not repainted. I shouldn’t have to look at a wall and see roller marks. You can definitely tell that one side has been painted more than the other in their streaks. There are places where it were not finished properly, and I want it done. I’m very dissatisfied at this moment because I have to keep following up with them. Also, they told me that the painter they were gonna use is on vacation. But that was two weeks ago, and I have not had any follow-up.

Overall, everything with Clayton Homes went very well. My home consultant was very knowledgeable. I thought I knew a lot about these things as far as fabricated homes and prefabricated homes. And all the way, even after everything was completed, I still had contact with her, and she continued to provide any information I needed, any help or direction. The repair guys came out when they said they were gonna come out, and they followed up on anything they were gonna do. They took care of any kind of little odds and ends, and a bubble in the floor from the factory. They did everything. The quality of my new home is very good. We pretty much left it like when we purchased. We haven't changed anything other than the matting. I put the home on my own property. We've got some farm property. Nearest neighbors are quarter or half a mile away, so that's good.

Everybody at Clayton has really been good. Joey, our consultant, explained everything very well. He went over it very carefully, and if there was a part that we didn't understand, he would take the time to stay on that part and break it down to where we could. And we're pleased with our new home. We had a couple of issues, but they got those fixed. Our biggest one was trying to get the front door lined up properly and where it would close. It had like a bow in it and it will close and lock, but if you didn't lock it, you could reach up there with your hand and hold the edge of the door and pull it open. The last people that worked on it were super nice and they made it a lot better than what it had been. We also love our neighborhood. There's only a few of us where we're at and it's quiet.

I've been at Clayton Homes before checking on mobile homes. At that time, they had a better deal than the others. At first, buying the home was kinda difficult because they had to change salesmen with me because he was leaving. After all that, it got a little bit better. Pat was very kind and considerate. She answered almost every question I had.
My furnace should not make noise when it kicks on and off. Also, my door should be leveled. They should put more than just two hinges on a closet door or a bedroom door. My door casings and my back door are still stuck. I would like Clayton to improve on getting our home set up and more guys to do it right. I know the company has them busy, but they still have to get back out here to readjust or fix everything. I’m just waiting on the guy that does it. They have been really swamped so it was kinda hard for the guy to keep up with everything. But other than that, everything was perfect.

The people at Clayton Homes were very nice and helpful. We lost our home to a tornado in January and we needed to get something very quickly, but we couldn’t find anything exactly like we wanted. It was a bit of a task, especially that we’re closer to our retirement years than being young. Clayton Homes was instrumental in working with the manufacturer to move ours ahead of their production line to get it done as quickly as possible. It was only a couple of months that we were able to move in our new home.
The home is very nice overall, but some things could have been done better. A couple of what I saw were cosmetic, for instance, there was a strip of molding in the bathroom floor, and when it was put in, there was another piece sticking out from under it that shouldn’t have been there. Rather than getting that little piece out of the way before they put the molding in, they just put the molding in. So, I had to use a pair of pliers and my screwdriver, and wedge it out of there. There’s also a little bit of an issue with the plumbing that we’re probably going to just fix ourselves. But as far as everything working, it works well. It’s not perfect but it fits our needs. And William, the salesman, was excellent. Every time I’ve called with an issue, he stopped what he was doing to help me or to help get a response to the problem. I would recommend him.

I was selling my family home and was downsizing because it's just me. A lot of people nowadays are buying old apartments and I thought why would I buy an apartment when I could have a house. I bought my mom a mobile home years ago and she loved it so I thought I'd go looking. I saw many of them but this mobile home has the best floor plan because it was more modern. The other ones were still old fashioned. This home fits me perfect only because I'm not a big carpet person and the one I picked, the only carpet is in the master bedroom and I love it. I also love the linoleum and the gas stove. I loved everything about the home. Clayton Homes might have made it for me. Marie, the rep, was so good. I liked her professionalism and personality. She made me a deal I couldn't refuse.
I've never lived in a mobile home and what I noticed was I'm in a trailer park and the sewage that the home has on is connected with all the other ones. There's a mobile home that's right next to me that's probably been here for 50 years. Our plumbing is connected and I've noticed loads of cockroaches. I'm sure that it's coming up with the sewer system because I never had roaches. But that's the only thing I can complain about and it's not the home's fault. It's the fact that it's the neighborhood itself and the field behind me too. I love the home and it's the best decision I ever made in my life.

I buy and sell mobile homes, and have been in the business since 1984. I buy used ones from the Clayton Homes retail center here in Rocky Mount, and I buy some new Clayton Homes from one of their factories in Tennessee. They build a good homes, and their brand new ones are excellent. Their options are helpful for somebody ordering a new home, like, you can change the outside color of the vinyl and the shutter color. You can also make the home more energy efficient or you can put OSB wrap which is like a plywood wrap around the outside. I recently purchased three homes from their Tru series, which is their more competitively priced units. They limit some of the options you can get for it, but they do that to keep the price low. So, I'm happy with that as a dealer because I sold these three units to a mobile home park that was just looking for a low price.
I also buy some of the trade-ins that Clayton might take when they're selling the new ones. A lot of times, I buy their old homes from the retail lot, because they're more interested obviously in selling new homes. And it helps them sell new ones if I would buy some of the old ones from them. I have been very satisfied with my dealings with Clayton, and it's a pleasure to work with them in buying the used homes. They're very helpful and I will do business with them again.

Clayton Homes has been wonderful. We were sold on our home because of the barn doors and the guest bath, which I like because it's separated. When you walk in, there's a sink on each side with the towel hooks and the mirrors. And then, the sinks are separated with an actual door from the toilet and the shower. Everything went well besides having to wait from October, from when we bought it, to have it set up. We closed on it in February, and then we moved in within two or three weeks. So, that was really impressive. I feel really good about its quality, and I love the openness in the home.

Stuff just happens. The countertop started peeling up outta nowhere and the bathroom window was leaking. They came by a few times and did different things. They tried to repair the windows several times by caulking it around the outside of the window and it still leaks. So, they decided to replace the entire window. After that, they came back out to do a trim on the inside of a window that they replaced, and then do a countertop. But they’re still not done yet with the repairs. They still gotta come inside and do the little quarter round trim and I've been waiting for two weeks now. The repair guys have been good though.

We had an excellent experience purchasing our new home. We already had the land with a single wide on it that we are trading in. Water and Septic are already in place so you would think that this would be an easy set up. We moved out of the single wide on Sept 3rd 2019 with the expected delivery date of our new home by the end of Sept.
The home was put on back order and will not be completed until October 11th 2019. We weren't upset and thought we should be able to get the single wide moved out, stake out where the new home will be placed and get the County to approve it. Clayton Homes could come out and grade the property and get everything ready for the arrival of the new home. We have been waiting now for 6 weeks and the single wide is still sitting there. The weather has been perfect, no rain, no reason for the work not to be already completed and ready to go. "Sigh" at this rate we will not be in our home until Thanksgiving. 4 months living in a basement on an air mattress has not be pleasant.
Joedie, we are so sorry to hear about the delays in getting the home removed from your property. We are going to touch base with your Home Center and see what we can find out. We will be in touch as soon as we have an update.

We were looking for a mobile home, went down the street, and looked at all of them, and we decided to stop at Clayton. The management has changed now since I bought my home. I didn't think much of the management that was there then, but since I bought my home, I have such a difference in the service. The management is much better. I didn't meet the new manager, but the service department has always helped me. Charlie is the lady from the service department, and she helped me a lot. I'm 82 years old. My son came in and helped me. I went through Pelican to borrow the rest of the money that I needed, and they got to the bottom of it and straightened out things that needed to be straightened out financially.
Our new home's quality is good. With the other people when I bought the home, they would just hire different people to come see about the service I needed. Now with this new management, they hired a guy that knows what he's doing, and he came and repaired what I needed. He said there were shingles on the roof that weren't even nailed in right, and there was a place in the hall that the company had to come out for. I said, "Well, I thought it was a water leak. It was a soft spot in the floor." He said, "No. Just when people put it together, they just didn't." So he came and did different things that weren't put together. I'm hoping that all of this stuff lasts. I like the service. I'll tell others about the service department. They're really good. They'll help you any time. But I'll also tell them that they should look into the whole home. They should have someone look into it and see that everything is put together right.

I needed something that was economical, and the specific one that I purchased was about the most economical one that Clayton Homes had available. The salesman and the overall park manager both worked with me and they were both very personable and were on top of everything. We ran into a problem after it had been set up for about three months. The shower fixtures began to work themselves loose from the mounting in the wall and water started leaking out into the wall. It’s a two-bathroom trailer, and both of them had the same problem. Both shower fixtures were not fixed in tightly and constructed in such a way that they would hold tight. Just the simple act of turning it on and off, somehow moving the pipes worked the joint fixture loose and it started losing water into the wall.
My son-in-law who was living in the trailer managed to get it tightened. It was not a major problem to fix, but it is something that needs to be looked at. Those fixtures were not secured. Particle board floors and stuff like that go to pieces pretty quick whenever they start getting wet. Also, the septic tank was left with some dirt settling that needed to settle before they could finish filling in and they still have not been back out to finish filling in the dirt. I mentioned it to one of the Clayton Home representatives about a month ago and I still haven't heard anything about it.
As far as Clayton Park is concerned, they're aware I bought it there. I’d be glad to send somebody out there and let them talk if they were interested in buying a clearance, send them out there to talk to the folks out there. They're good people to deal with. I’ve got a couple of points there that needed to be addressed, but that didn't change my feeling about the folks that I was dealing with.

My cabinets peeled and they stuck a decoration board to hold down what is peeling instead of replacing and I still have an end piece on one cabinet they just refuse to fix. They started off by not coming to look at the roof in just a few months of delivery and making me file with insurance who came and looked and said this is the problem of the factory and then the factory referred me back to Clayton and here it is Sept 2019 and I still have leaks that are not fixed and no one wants to do anything about it. The last visit by contract workers that TRUMH sent revealed that there are screw holes / nail holes that were made then not used and not filled so water can travel and come into my home.
Today I have an adjuster coming from the insurance yet again because I had water get on the guest closet and master bedroom where the ceiling meets the roof. Also neither of my doors shut flush and properly from Day one and they did nothing. I have requested my service records and NO ONE will respond. So I could go on and on about the things that are wrong and just know that I have filed Complaints and been nice, sometimes agitated, and these companies do not care to help or fix what are factory issues and my home has been defective since delivery and my warranty says free from defect for first five years. One time, they told me that the price that was set up includes delivery and brick underpinning. But when I went back, they told me it won’t be brick underpinning and that it was vinyl. I ended up at Oakwood in Chadbourn and the experience was almost as good as when I got married. I talked with Tammie, the manager, and I looked at the same house that I looked at in Shallotte. After we looked at it, Tammie asked if I wanted to do an application. I explained to her what happened at the other place and she told me that she couldn't give me an exact figure that day, but she could give me a figure and she promised that it would only go down. She didn’t beat around the bush and she was exactly right. My payment is lower than what she had first quoted me, even with my insurance included. We discussed 20 or $25,000 down. I put 20,000 down and it was still almost $100 lower than what they told me in Shallotte for the same house.
The house was delivered and set up and we moved in on February the 12th. My other house got damaged during Florence, so I was displaced from September until February 12. Tammie did everything in her power to get things done quicker. She may have put me ahead of a few or pulled some strings and she got me in the new house. She had somebody come out and tear the other house down and haul it out. They wouldn’t pull it out because of the shape it was in and it would collapse on the road. Then they brought the new house in and had it set up. The day it was delivered, Tammie called me and said that the crew left with the first half and that they should be in my driveway within an hour. She also called me when the second half was leaving. She was on top of everything.
I like the openness of the house, which was what sold me on the house because my wife was in a wheelchair. I've also got an island in the kitchen. The kitchen is a good size and the dining is in with that. The living room and the master bedroom are huge. But I had a problem with the carpet in the master bedroom and the living room. There was something in the padding when the house was built and once we moved in, the traffic pulled whatever it was up into the carpet. There were 10 big, oval stains. I told Tammie about that and she had the guys come and replace the carpet in a day.
I haven't had a better experience of buying anything from anybody than I had with Tammie. She made it more personal than business. Then when my wife passed, Oakwood in Chadbourn sent flowers. This was after everything was said and done, the carpet had been replaced, and there were no more issues with the house. When I sent a close family friend up there, Tammie was the same way with her and my friend bought a house from her after I bought mine.
We're so glad to hear that our team in Chadbourn was able to help you, Richard! The feedback you've provided regarding the Shallotte location is very beneficial as well and we will pass it along to our retail division. Congratulations on your new home!

The Clayton Homes salesman that I had working with me was very attentive and very helpful. And even after the house was set up, I could call and ask questions and get help with various things. One time the flooring was buckling a little bit, so Clayton came out and fixed it. I have already recommended someone to go to Clayton Homes.
We're so glad to hear that your issues were addressed quickly and that you had a great experience, Carla! Thank you for taking the time to share with us. Congratulations on your new home!

Clayton was really good during the home buying process. They did what they said and everything went well. Abby, the one doing all the sales was great. There was a time when I thought the build was a little slow, but that was right after a hurricane and I knew Clayton was busy. In the bathroom of the home though, it wasn't right around the shower stall. My rep went to work on what needed fixing and Clayton had to redo it. Their people are good folks to work with. They did me good.

I was able to follow up with the lady that was in charge of the sales and she was perfect. The quality of the home is good. The guys that delivered it did a good job. Everything got done and they set it up nicely. It was a good experience with Clayton Homes.

I was very satisfied with the home buying process and the rep whom I worked with at Clayton. I purchased a home from them and had some concerns about the asbestos and the breathing part of it as well as the formaldehyde that's use in building it. Still, I'm very satisfied with the quality of the home.

My husband bought a home from Clayton homes 3 years ago. The home was brand new. The home only being 3 years old we constantly have to nail trim back on the wall. The trim around the door frames and walkways are scuffed up. The dish washer broke once and had to be replaced. The ac has been leaking this whole time after calling several times and complaining. They finally fixed it this year because I hired an ac man because the people they use couldn't find the leak. The drawers in the kitchen are breaking, the cabinet doors are falling off and EVERY door hinge on the house has had to be replaced due to being cheap. We are now currently faced with trying to find sheet rock with the matching wallpaper because the electrical boxes were not nailed to the studs and my dog ripped it out of the wall when his foot got hung on a cord from my lamp.
These homes are made extremely cheap and I feel like our money was wasted. Definitely not an investment and there is no way this home will last 20 years. Called Panama city to speak with them about who to contact about sheetrock. The woman who answered the phone was extremely RUDE and didn't know how to do her job at all!

Everything went very smoothly with Clayton Homes and I was very pleased for the most part. It took a little bit longer than I thought it was going to, but everybody told me that was how house buying went. By the time we had signed the papers, it took them a little minute to be able to get the house ready to be lived in. We had to make the first payment before we were even able to move into it. Then we had a lot of bad weather at the time. But all in all, I was pretty satisfied with the process.
The rep we worked with was a good guy and he was very polite. He was on the ball about everything and tried to get everything done. Plus, he kept in touch with me to let me know when things were gonna happen. I wanted him to take care of anything that needed to be taken care of. And I was very pleased with how he handled things. Clayton Homes had everything set up for us and we just had to move in. The home is very nice and it has good quality.
Thank you so much for your feedback, Steven. We're glad to hear that everything went well overall. We appreciate you being patient with us in getting the home ready. It can sometimes take a little bit of time to get it perfect. Congratulations on your new home!

I'm still waiting for Clayton Homes to come and change the bathtub in the master bathroom. The tub was all chipped on the side around the faucet and gouged down near the drain. They took pictures which were sent in, and they contacted the manufacturer. They said they would be out shortly to replace it, and that was three months ago. They told me that it would take a little while but I'm getting a little bit disturbed about the whole thing because we pay a lot of money for the house and I want a bathtub. It would be nice right now to be able to soak in it and I don’t ever use it.
The girls at the office were fantastic and they explained everything. The guys who came out to do the repair work that needed to be done did everything and sent reports in for this tub. The office has called about the tub, and I'm upset because at this point, they don’t even wanna come and tell me they can fix it. They better bring a new tub. I know the tub is a different manufacturer, but it's part of the product that Clayton put together.

Buying from Clayton Homes was more easier than I thought it was. The whole process took about three months and their consultant stayed in contact with us weekly and kept updating us about what was going on. If we had concerns and if the the lady that we were working with or her boss couldn't answer our questions, they would call corporate office and they'd answer them. The quality of the home is good and we haven’t had any problems, so far. Clayton Homes helped me become a homeowner. And I have referred three people that’s in the process of getting a home from them.

I liked the quality of the home that was built from Clayton and I wanted to find a dealer that I could trust. I was not comfortable with a lot of dealers I visited but I was comfortable dealing with the rep at Clayton. His name was Pete and I felt that he was truthful with me. He also worked with me to get additional discounts from the regional manager and I had a very good relationship with him. The buying process took some time because before I could purchase the new one, I had to sell an existing mobile home that I had on my lot and the sales consultant helped me sell it. All in all, the whole process took nine months or so and so far, the quality of the home that I got from Clayton is great. We've had some problems, but the dealer and the factory has taken care of those problems.

We were in the market looking to buy a home and started looking around. Clayton Homes was highly recommended on every website we visited so we thought we'd give it a try. We're in Flat Rock, Alabama and at the time, we didn't know that there was one a lot closer than the one in Athens, Alabama. We could've gone to Albertville. The home buying process was great. The wait was hectic because of the weather issues that were going on at the time, which was to be expected. It rained for three months, off and on, and it was so wet that they had to use specialized trucks. The guy that brought it out had a specialized truck with a hydraulic lift on the back that allowed him to get into the plot. The home consultant was great too. She did everything she could to help us. She gave us her number and we called her any time we needed to.
The house they sold us was one that they had on the lot and it already had a lot of damage from people coming and seeing it. I made sure that they fix some stuff, which was all I could do. The quality of the home is a little less than what I thought it would be. I've only had it for about seven months and I've already got trim coming down inside of the house. It was a $66,000 home, and the total price ended up being around 86,000 because I had them do all the work. All I did was contact the electric company when they had the pole up. Then a couple of weeks after we had the home set up, they had a deal on a much better home at a cheaper price. And that made us mad. I would recommend Clayton Homes since they're easy to work with. You'd have to be very cautious though, just like you would with a car dealership.
Thank you so much for the positive feedback, James! We're so glad to hear that everything went well for you at our Athens location! The weather can definitely play a big part in getting our homes delivered and setup, but it sounds like the team in Athens did a great job of keeping you informed and getting everything done. Congratulations on your new home!

I liked Clayton Homes' proximity and that it’s owned by Berkshire Hathaway. The rep worked with me and he was very good. I kinda got into a difficult situation with the POA and he helped me exchange different type of properties. They were accommodating for that. I was able to get credit because I downsized on the model. They listened. They ended up doing what I requested. They were flexible and that’s the most important. They didn’t try to hit me with something that I couldn’t do. The home was good. There were some post issues like the door was kind of jammed. We had to do some post repairs, but it's okay. And for the price, the quality is good. I’ve been down about two or three months now and so far, everything seems to be working okay. I was satisfied.

We had problems with the lender, not that our credit was bad. We had impeccable credit, but there were requirements that they made us go through. There was a problem at Skyline Homes where this was built, and I’m not satisfied with some of their staff at all. I wish that we would have been given a heads up that Clayton had models that were discontinued, instead of already closing and then we’d come to find out we had to go through finding another model that suited the one that we wanted. But as far as the Clayton sales team, there were two people there and they were pretty good. Michelle did pretty good in trying to get us accommodated. Other than a few corks I have about the home, it’s okay.

As I was visiting a home, I had seen Clayton Homes out there and I just went in to see what they had, and everybody was really good to me. Their reps were very friendly and willing to spend the time to find what I wanted and help me. They were informative and were really good to work with. They took my calls and answered my questions the best they could. If they couldn’t, they'd get it from where they knew they could get any help. If it was above them, then they would get it and then let me know. I now got a nice home and I'm satisfied with it. Everything that I found that may have been an issue was taken care of. It was a good experience, overall. I'd tell others to go to Clayton Homes and see if they could work with them. In fact, my sister and step-daughter are in the process of working with them now.

I was happy with Clayton's home buying process. Their reps were right there with me all along and they had my back. However, I got some couple of trims that keeps popping out now on the inside of our home, on the walls. And then, my kitchen sink has water coming out, and for some reason, it's not giving me much pressure. It's got two different switches. You can turn the spray on and it sprays hard, but when you turn the regular water on to it, there's just a little small drain coming out of the spout.

If something was a whole lot of reading and I didn’t wanna read, he explained it to me really good. I was well-pleased with my experience. I like Clayton Homes and I got a couple of other Clayton Homes. I got a 2004 and 2005. One’s a three-bedroom, two-bathtub, and the other one’s a two-two. If I decide to get a newer one, I would definitely go with Clayton Homes. It’d be my first choice.

Donald was my Clayton Homes consultant and he was excellent. We were able to customize our new home. We had a door and a window switch places, so whenever I came in the house, I didn't have to go all the way from one end to the other side. It all came down a long hall, so it worked out a lot better that way. However, I have a few repairs that need to be done. I left a message for Dennis, the repairman, but that was about a week and a half ago. Still, I had really good interactions with the contractor. Overall, I've been very satisfied with how everything went with Clayton Homes.
