We checked out Clayton Homes when we were down in the valley and we liked the layout and the way the homes were constructed. We really liked Nora, too. She was very good and she explained 100% about our home purchase. We were very satisfied with the process, as well as the cost of the home that we bought. It was delivered in November, and so far, we’re really enjoying it. It’s our winter home when we go down to Texas, and we’re just in it for five months, but we’re very satisfied with it. There were a few odds and ends that they did, probably from delivery from Waco down into Weslaco, and Clayton took care of it all. We’ve already recommended them to a friend.

We lost our home in Hurricane Harvey. We were devastated. We owned our home and were not looking forward to having a 30 year mortgage but hey, you do what you gotta do right. Well after looking and looking and looking we decided to buy a NEW mobile home. We do not have kids, it is just me and my husband. We decided on the Tru Home Elation. We were so so EXCITED. The sales people were pleasant and helped to speed the process along as much as possible but we were living with my brother and it was time!!!!

After months of trying to get everything finished we FINALLY moved in. There were problems that were addressed semi-quickly. There was a crack in the ceiling (fixed), there was rippling on the bathroom and kitchen floor (fixed), the backlight was missing (fixed after 4 phone calls and visits), missing trim (fixed). BIG ISSUE: When we got the septic and the AC put in, the installers had to get under the house to hook up the electrical. IT WAS SO SO HARD to hook up!!!! Couldn't get through the black stuff, got the wires stuck in the wall. It was seriously ridiculous.

A days after living here we noticed that the bathroom/bedroom wall had mold at the bottom of it. My husband took the wall panel down and saw that the PIPES WERE NEVER HOOKED UP... Literally!!! We had been using the master bath shower. The Master bath had an issue with the faucets. Clayton replaced them, wrong pipes, stuck out of the wall by 3 inches. Came out again fixed it, didn't seal it (my husband had to). A week later we see mold at the bottom of the wall in the bedroom. Fixed that.

Honestly the mobile home is put together VERY cheaply. The doors didn't shut correctly. The front door did WOULD NOT shut all the way. That was fixed, the the back door did the same thing. Finally got that fixed. The interior doors will not stay opened all the way and the gap at the bottom of the doors are HUGE. It also makes it easier to see how uneven the doors are.

Under the sink the water has leaked 3 or 4 times. My husband has fixed it every time as we could not keep taking off work to have them come out to "maybe fix it". The fridge had a HUGE dent in it and it took an act of congress to get that corrected. The skirting is seriously misaligned. There are HUGE gaps at the top or the bottom. The carpet is Super thin and after 1 year of living in it, (taking off our shoes every time we come in the house) the carpet needs to be replaced. I do understand that things happen when the homes are moved and set into place BUT... The pipes not being hooked up and the faucets being messed up. It has been a headache.

That being said. I would not recommend this home to anyone. I did my homework on MOST things but I figured a mobile home is a mobile home. The home we lost was a mobile home built in the 80's and it was SO much more durable than this one. Now I am in a LONG mortgage payment in a home that I will be lucky to keep in good condition with no MAJOR overhaul for another 3 years. Wish I would have known but hindsight is 2020!!!!

My dad and I are both widows, and I got tired of trying to call him and he wouldn’t answer the phone. I was renting a house in Houston and I would have to go and check on him at home, which is about four-and-a-half-hour drive from here. So, I told him that we're gonna sell the house and then he would live with me. And then, I searched around and found Clayton Homes. For a lot of reasons, I chose them over other companies, one being that I used to build homes and I had looked at their blueprint, how the home was constructed and how everything was made. The home was solid and steeled. And my electric bill ain’t nothing but $62 to $67 a month, and I run an AC unit. But the deciding factor for me was Elvia, the sales lady over on I-10. She was really good. She would talk to you and make sure you’re all right and everything is working fine. She even calls me now and I tell her everything is fine with our home.

I also like her attitude for not lying. I could tell when a person is lying and just wants to sell something, and she didn't do that. We looked at several options to finance our home and I asked her, to which she said that she was not supposed to act on it. And then I asked her with whom do most people get financed. I told her that I wanna know the information. I’m not a computer-illiterate, and I had done computers, I just don’t trust them. And then, she turned around and told me what a lot of people do. She was really honest about it. That’s the biggest thing.

We went with their red tag special, something they wanna get rid of. It’s just me and my dad, and we both looked at it, and it's good. The only thing he was telling me was that there's a crack and he could see through the door. I told him that this house has been traveling down a road, and once we get settled, we would readjust everything. That’s no big thing. Other than that, it was the best construction I’ve ever seen. We built a 50-foot porch on the back so we can have a deck and everybody up here looked at my home and keeps on asking. And I tell them, “Go see Elvia on I-10 over there.”

    Thanks for your vote!

The gentleman from Clayton Homes who worked with us made everything very easy to understand, and he was very available for questions. His name was Austin. He was amazing. We went in and we were looking for modular homes, and they were explaining that they didn’t have them. But he was like, “You know what? If you wanna look, I can let you look around.” And he took us through several homes. We really wanna go modular. So, we left. And then a few months later, we went back. He was very patient with us to work through what we were wanting. He showed us all the different lines and different price points. And then he let us stew over it for about a month, and then we got back with him.

He was very knowledgeable and knew what he was talking about. And with the few things he didn’t, he went and got answers for us. He texted and corresponded with us even when he wasn’t at work. If he got a notification when he was off, he was like, “Hey, they just told me that this part of the house is done,” or “That part of your house is done,” or “Somebody called me and asked this question. What do you think?” So, even when it wasn’t his regular working hours, he was involved with us.

Also, the buying process was great and easy. We had a few custom things that we wanted and they worked hard to get it done for us. We got a custom shower put in with tile work, and we got a custom front door put in, and they were great too. They laid all of that out for us. The delivery and set-up were great. It was only the lights that took a long time because of the rain. But that wasn’t anybody’s fault. They worked quick.

They did have a lady come clean the house, and she did not do a great job. But that doesn’t reflect negatively on Austin himself. Whoever they had do the housecleaning did not clean. The floors were covered in white powder. So, we had to come in and do a ton of cleaning. Their cleaning person did not really clean at all. She vacuumed and swept, and that was about it. Other than that, the few repair issues that we’ve had were taken care of quickly. Austin even checked with us a time or two like, “Hey, how’s it going? Are y’all happy? We really liked him.

I was out looking for houses and I rode by Clayton Homes. They’ve been around for a long time, and so I picked them over others thinking that I would rather go with a stable company. They’re doing something right if they’ve been in business for that long. I picked one of the homes and everything turned out good. I like the kitchen the most, because it’s an island, and then they have lots of outlets. Linda made the process very easy, and she kept in contact with me and always returned calls when I called her. And I love working with Delmar. The team there was great and very helpful.

Buying my home through Clayton was a very easy process for me. I knew about them by word of mouth and looking around, and it was their customer service that got me decided on them. The manager who helped me was good. I like his personality and the way he worked with me. He stayed on top of getting things done, getting set up, and the construction part of it. And then, being a contractor, I've done most of the building stuff myself. Then when we got done and completed, we had a couple of things we needed fixed. Clayton sent their technicians out and accommodated us perfectly, and worked with us on our time frame. My wife is very happy with everything. I would recommend Clayton.

My old trailer was a Clayton home and I like the way they're built correctly and the design process. I recently purchased a new one and had a good experience through the process. We shopped around and found the one that we liked and that suited us, and everything was good. Nick and Mark have been more than extremely helpful. Even the guys that brought the trailer in were all good. And Mark and Nick are still in contact with me. There were a few adjustments on stuff they needed to make and a couple of small repairs, but it's not a big deal. Everything was handled professionally and quickly. The guys that they sent out were also really friendly. They explained everything, what they were doing and they did it. They cleaned up their mess, and they did a good job. I was more than happy. It has been a great experience.

I was looking for a place to live but what I saw was just crap. I figured it might be cheaper to get a new home. I was looking at manufactured homes and Clayton Homes came about. I put down money on Clayton and I had to find a lot being their home is a manufactured one. I was looking all around and I got an appointment to come here and look at this place. The owner said there was a Clayton home set up at the park that was turnkey ready. I looked at it, walked in the door, and fell in love with the floors. The view outside has trees too. That was it and I moved here from Arizona. I like my home.

In the 30 days that I was looking for a place in Arizona, I found it so disgusting that they would sell you a dirty rotten bathtub. In the places I looked at, the ceilings were caving in and the floors were all warped. Some of the places were unsafe. My real estate agent there wouldn't even come in and take pictures. She wouldn't list it unless it was clean. And then I had to buy insurance. He basically pushed into buying insurance to guarantee that all the fixtures and appliances worked in the house for the next person. But the people here don't do that. There is no guarantee and everything is as is.

Clark was my rep and he was excellent. He wasn't pushy and there was no pressure. After I got in the place and moved in, I'd call up and ask where this or that is. Clark would answer me. I couldn't find the water heater as it is hidden in a closet behind a wall. I wanted to turn it up or turn it down, but I had to unscrew all the weird looking screws. They are like square. The water and the electricity didn't get turned on so they put me in a hotel in Knoxville which was nice. I got really sick and that was a few days after I moved in. I was in the hospital for 11 days. The only person I knew was Clark and he went out of his way for me. He went to my house and got my cellphone along with a few other things I asked him for.

When the doorknob fell off, Clayton's people came out and fixed that. They also fixed the top of the siding that was sticking out. But they didn't fix the skirting at the bottom that surrounds the siding. They don't guarantee that so I had to call a handyman because when the skirting was cut, it was done too short. It kept flipping off in the wind. That ticked me off because that was $168 for the handyman. Overall, the process was good. But Clayton mailed the title to my old address in Arizona so it took me a while to get the title of my place. I guess Clayton got that mailing address and my physical address.

We bought our home from the Rocky Mount N.C. Clayton Homes. The buying process was easy however getting repairs done have been a huge hassle. I've had windows replaced that are still not correct, dishwasher still not right, door casings not correct. Also my mantel doesn't match is not same colors. My favorite part when buying the home was the ranch style trim which was done awful.

We've had lots more issues which some have been fixed. However for example our trim work keeps coming away from walls only to have folks come out and renail the same exact pieces up 20 times now filled with nail holes, gaps between pieces of trim because everybody that seems to come out refuses to replace it, or cut it the correct length so it doesn't keep coming off walls nor do they care half of it around door frames is being shot up with nothing behind it. This past week in order to fix the gaps in between two pieces where it was cut incorrect a year ago when placed up the helper was told by his boss with him to fill in the gaps with markers.

There are also lumps under carpets that I'm constantly being told is carpet padding - not to mention carpet seams haven't been corrected. It's been little over a year and my home still isn't fixed. We didn't buy a home only to move in it and year later still having issues. Most that are sent try to say most things are normal or patch things only for it to fall back down or apart within a few hours or days. There are a few more issues but these are just a few. Let's also not forget the constant run around with what is factory responsibility or dealers. We bought the home and repair issues shouldn't be such a hassle. It is their responsibility to delegate who is responsible for which items.

I started looking online for reputable home dealerships in this area but I live in the middle of nowhere so there’s nothing actually right by me. Clayton Homes came up in my Facebook as ad with like $8,000 worth of energy efficient upgrades for free. So we went up there and checked it out. We found a house that we liked but we ended up getting a different one because they had one in Artesia that was ready to go and it was a lot closer than having to wait from Albuquerque. But the people that we dealt with were all in Albuquerque and we ended up closing on it about three months earlier than we had planned on.

Everything was great throughout the home buying process and my home consultant was amazing. Marie was very nice and down to earth. We had already picked one out but before we had the appointment to sign everything, my husband had a heart attack so we had to push it off for a couple of weeks. She was very compassionate and willing to work with us on not being able to get out there right away. It is three hours away.

The only dissatisfaction that we had was we had ordered a gas model and it wasn’t until the day that the one in Artesia was shipped that we were told that it wasn’t gas. It was electric but it was fine. They had said that we would get a $550 prepaid card for Lowe’s to get a gas stove once everything had been completed and the loan has been financed. But we never received that. When we called about it, they told us we would just have to go and pick one out then they would pay for it. We were gonna buy one during Black Friday because Lowe's had a really nice one on sale for $550. It was knocked down like 300 bucks. But the loan hadn’t completely closed yet. We had thought about using our own money to do it but thankfully, we didn’t. We’ve just been waiting until they go on sale again.

The home has been in place since November and we’ve already got weather-stripping issues and shingles falling off. We were also told that the type of foundation that they were putting it on was guaranteed to not shift, and it has. There are places where when you walk in it, it squeaks. Plus when we first moved in, the windows all opened and closed fine. But when we were starting to get hotter weather, we opened the windows since we don’t have an air conditioning unit on ours. When I went to open my youngest son’s bedroom window, it actually cracked. But I just need to call Clayton Homes and let them know.

I have known Clayton Homes forever and I ended up buying in Bowling Green, Kentucky because that's where I set the home. The home buying process was very easy and I can brag on Barry but I can't brag on anybody else. Clayton Homes SE is the worst outfit I've ever dealt with in my life and I've been in business for 55 years. I bought two homes at the same time and Anita was fairly helpful. She helped with some of the things in the home like the lighting, the flooring and the cabinet colors. But she was very poor on following up after the fact. After the homes were delivered and we started calling and trying to get something done, she was absolutely no help whatsoever.

They had set the homes in October and both homes had the same problems. They were shipped with no doors and the people who came to install the doors put the cabinet faces. The same idiots worked at both homes. I have one home leased out and when the people renting it opened the doors, the cabinet doors fell off. It's just been horrible. I can't get my cabinets repaired. They won't come back and repair them. I would not recommend SE Homes to anyone. I'm still fighting with them right now. In fact, if I haven't heard from someone by Monday, I'm probably gonna let my attorney in our company go ahead and take care of it. Barry, on the other hand, is I think the fellow who runs that Clayton dealership at Bowling Green and he's been very helpful. He's done everything he can to help.

Clayton had a home already set on land and they told me about it. I went to see it and I was hooked from there. They took me step-by-step. Some days, it took more time. But other than that, my satisfaction with the home and the home consultant was great. They showed me everything and they walked me through everything. It was perfect. I worked with Bob and he was wonderful. I had a water sprinkler in the front yard, but they didn’t have one for the backyard. I explained to them about putting a water sprinkler in the backyard, and they came and said that they would do it. They put it on there, so it was great. I love the quality of my home. I chose the Clayton home model I went with for the price of it. Then I changed out the door knobs because that’s what I do for a living and I really don’t like the factory ones that come from Clayton Homes. But I was supposed to do house placement to put the four corners of where I wanted the house to sit and that never happened. So they just put it wherever they wanted to. The person in charge of doing the grading also pissed me off a little bit because he never communicated. But the experience with the salesman was pretty good. My stepbrother is also in the process of buying a home from Clayton Homes right now. I sent him up there.

    Original Review: June 8, 2019

Buying the home was a good experience and Clayton Homes' customer service was very good. I also like the place but the setup of the home was kind of iffy. The waterline had to get inspected so they had to leave that pit open and of course, I had to fill it in. Now, I'm having trouble with the hookup where it's going into the septic system. The ground is not leveled at all either, except for where the home sits. It was just left. I didn't understand that part. It was never conveyed to me that that's how their policy is. It cost me $12,000 for them to install the thing and they didn't specify exactly what was my responsibility was and what their responsibility was. Communication was poor.

Although they installed the home properly, put the pillars in and hooked up the electric then the floor, they left things a mess as far as all the cleanup we had to do around the property. They couldn't do part of it but part of it, I thought they were supposed to do or maybe they weren't. Cleaning was just a lot more work for me than I thought it should have been.

As far as getting the house with the energy package, it seem like Clayton Homes had the better quality homes. And after I talked to my friend that works in their corporate office, he reassured me of that too. The buying process was fairly easy, but it took us a while to find exactly what we wanted because there was so many options. When we found something we did like, we had some changes made to it, which was not a problem.

We changed the master bath. Most of them have the garden tub and just the regular show stall. My wife has a real bad knee and she's got arthritis in it real bad. After going and looking at several of the model houses and trying to get in and out, she felt like that may not be good for her. So we did the tile walk-in shower, and they made a very large one for us. Then in the kitchen, my wife got the pot rack hanging over the island. She got the light fixture, and then the grid thing on it with the little hooks on it to hang your pots on. And then, we got hand-laid rockface on the side that doesn't have the cabinets. For the kitchen sink, we went with the farmhouse. And we were able to get a microwave added above the stove. It's all worked great.

We've had some problems with the fan in the master bathroom. It works, but it leaks. There's water leaking straight through, and they've done several things. It works even when it's leaking because it's just water and it's running straight from outside when it was raining. But there's been no damage to the roof or the inside ceiling. It was just coming straight through the fan, and they hadn't figured out what the deal is. They've changed the top and changed the fan itself. But they've always been quick to get out here and work on any issues we've had. The salesperson we worked with just started there and she did awesome. Everybody else we've dealt with has been great.

Brand new home with MAJOR defects. No one interested in resolving the problem at a corporate level. Keep getting referred back the the home center. The home center refuses to talk to me because I am mad that I ordered a home in Dec 2018, house delivered to the home center in February 2019, signed a mortgage in February 2019, had to pay out of pocket to do things that were in our contract because they "couldn't get results". House delivered in April.

Over a month later, we were finally able to move in (after contracting our own plumber because again, they couldn't find anyone). Got moved in and have major defects that we are having a really hard time getting addressed. Plumbing lines were not stubbed out properly and had a major leak under the house. Still have the barrier opened up and insulation exposed because no one has come to follow up. In the home for less than a week and our metal roof was leaking last night. Had water pouring through a light fixture in the Kitchen. Floor is sagging and popping. Front door is warped, etc., etc., etc! Can't believe we will be paying for this lemon for 20+ years! Probably won't last 5.

The sales rep that we were dealing with was really knowledgeable, and we liked the houses that were on the lot. We got our home customized. The representative knew I had MS, so they reconfigured the whole kitchen to put in a wall oven and a cooktop instead of a range. And they added more cabinets. In the half bath, I wanted a small thing for towels, and they gave me this massive one which is awesome. In my bathroom, I was only supposed to have a rain shower, but they gave me a hand shower as well. These were little tiny surprises that weren't expected, except for the kitchen since it was the main custom order reconfiguration. The only thing is that a lot of the homes do not have handicapped accessible showers. The home we purchased did not have that, and I understand that the showers are already assembled. The guy from the company that makes them is supposed to come back and lower the steps.

Clayton Homes' homebuying process was timeless. They took care of everything. My satisfaction with our home consultant was great as well. He was very helpful, always returned phone calls, and took care of us. We had dealt with Edgewoods Homes and we inquired once before, and it really had put a bad taste in our mouth, and I didn’t even really wanna look at another mobile home due to it. And we went up and talked to Clayton and they were upfront with the cost and I’m very pleased with how they’ve stood behind their home and stepped up there.

We had been looking for a home for a while. We were living on a trailer park, and we were paying somebody else for something that would never be ours. We had found a piece of property five years ago, and we were paying on the property. We had went out to Clayton just looking around, and we met Debbie. She is an excellent, sweet person outta Clayton. And she sat down with us, talked, and she got the ball rolling for us. And if it wasn’t for her, we wouldn’t be here today. She kept us motivated. She has a very good work ethic. She knows what she’s doing and the procedures. If a bump in the road came, she let us know firsthand, so we weren’t surprised. She basically walked us through the process to get our home.

Clayton's homebuying process was a little lengthy, but it wasn’t due to Clayton’s fault. It was the mason man that was doing the masonry work, Jesse, who held up the process by two months. He would tell us the date that he was gonna come out and block the home, but the date passed. Two weeks later, still, it wasn’t done. Another two weeks after that, it wasn’t done. And they finally came out on a Sunday, and he wasn’t even here. He had his workers do it. And some of it are cracking where they did it, but they said that we could go over it with some cement to do it over.

Also, we came to a rural area, and where we live, they don’t have very many inspectors, so they had to put it on their schedule. Things happened beyond Clayton’s control. I love the way our home is. And we were surprised with the floors because we were expecting it to be exactly like the model, and it wasn’t. It was 100,000% better. And I love this home. I love the way it’s laid out and the way it was made. Everyone at the lot where we got the house was wonderful. Frankie, Stephanie, Lisa, and all the ones that we directly worked with were awesome. And when we had a problem with the doors, Travis came directly out and fixed it.

One of the worst experiences I have ever had with a company. From the sketchy sales rep who has no communication to the manager who could care less. Even the mortgage company has a hard time working with Clayton Homes. First we were told we could get a home in our price range that turned out to be way over our price range. When we finally got the information on a home that we were comfortable with it took weeks to get anything done to get the ball rolling. The mortgage and title company had difficulty getting what they needed from Clayton Homes on multiple occasions. Then we were told that we would be in our home by June 20th and a week before (after a week of trying to contact our sales rep) the "manager" told us that was never even a chance and it would be more like July 20th and that our sales rep had lied to us. At this point we had completely removed our fence and skirting because we were anticipating a new home.

Moving on from all the wishy washy answers, delayed communication, and SEVERAL mistakes, I got a call from the potential insurance company that said they were told not to send me anything at this time. When asking our sales rep what was going on (after asking for updates he said he was going to do for over a week now) he told me his manager would contact me. When the manager did not get in touch we finally called him. He then informed us they were cancelling the process. So we went through months of being drag through the mud with this unprofessional company and they drop us. I don't understand it but a lot of time and money was wasted. Please DO NOT ever use this company. It has been a complete nightmare. Now we have to start the process over with our whole life in disarray. I don't know how anyone can treat someone the way Clayton Homes has treated us.

I’ve always heard good things about Clayton Homes and that they are the way to go. I've also had friends who bought homes from them. I found the Clayton Homes at Corsicana and I went up there. The guy out there, Adam, introduced himself to me and we started looking around. We told him our budget, what we wanted and what we had down. Adam showed us several different homes and he was like, “Whichever one you like and it’s in your budget.” He was great. I was impressed by his knowledge of the homes and he wasn’t pushing us to buy. He was just all-out the perfect salesman.

We found the perfect house - the Hartman. We didn’t want one too big or too small. We found a single-wide home with three bedrooms and two baths. We bought one that was on the lot. It’s a great quality home. Our electricity bill is under $100 a month. It's very efficient. To anyone who asks about Clayton, go for it. You won’t find a better home and nicer people to deal with. They answered all my questions to the best of their knowledge and experience.

Then I went to Athens, and they were super excellent people. And I told them I’d looked online for what I wanted, and I showed the lady the picture. Then I told her, “So, let’s do the paperwork.” The application process was all right. The rep got on it and took care of it right away. Result-wise, they’re super good.

I’d tell my friends to get a Clayton home but to make sure everything is better quality than what I got. I looked at it and everything else before I got it, but once we moved into it, then we started noticing. I don’t like the quality of the home. I didn’t really pay as much attention to the quality of it until I actually got into it and started living in it. Every wall and the strips are falling off of it. To me, it’s a cheap-made place. As far as the quality of the trailer, to me, it’s junk. People that I know has got better-quality trailers.

There's a few different Clayton Homes around and I've driven by them for years and I just decided to stop in one day. Everybody’s real nice and real helpful as well. I didn’t feel the need to go check any more else afterwards. I liked the high ceilings of the build and the colors. The flooring is linoleum but it looks like wooden floors. And I liked that wood look.

I got a good deal on one. Somebody else had done a custom-order and then they didn’t pick it up, so they knocked quite a bit off of it. So, I went that route. I first stopped there in October and by December I was moved in. The process was good and I liked the package deal. I had a trailer I traded in on it and they pulled that off, built the pad up, and brought it down here to put the electricity and all that stuff done. Everything got attended to. The home perfectly fits my needs and what I was looking for.

Our home is 3 yrs old, bought new. The workmanship is very bad. The second year we had to replace the roof, the extra insurance we purchased wouldn’t pay so we had to file a claim with our insurance company. This year we lost large amount of skirting to wind that’s when we found most of the skirting was 2 to 3 inches too short so it won’t stay in the tracks. We have a large chunk of concrete that sticks out at the end from where it was poured. We did have a claim paid from our floors sinking in because the joints under the house weren’t connected causing soft spots from one end of the trailer to the other.

Our siding on the bottom won’t stay in the grooves. Most of our issues were to save the company money, and has caused us a lot of issues in just a few years. No way this home will last the length of the loan. The extra warranty issue wouldn’t pay for the roof even though we lost 6 shingles to storms due to the way they were attached. The bathroom fan leaks when it rains and the wind blows. This is our home and we make payments to live here but the people that installed it need to know what happens when they cut corners and leave things undone or done incorrectly.

Clayton Homes did a very good job. The woman I worked with was very receptive. When I had questions and called her, she called me right back when she wasn't there. For the most part, I was very happy with the process. When we looked at the home initially, once we did see it was Clayton Homes, we did some research and it was a very reputable company, which boosted our confidence.

There are a couple of things that we needed to get resolved and that could have been done a little bit quicker. I'm up in Breckenridge, and then we've got a lot of snow this year, and then the folks who had to come to repair have to travel quite a distance. But they have gotten in touch with me, which is good. That's the only thing that was a little below par, but based on the variables involved, it is what it is. Overall, it was an excellent service. We'd recommend Clayton.

As soon as we got to the parking lot and went in, Rob offered to show us around different homes. He is wonderful and the homes are very nice. Our home has a very nice kitchen. I like the island and it hooks to both of our living rooms. It's very accessible. Everything's okay but the only thing that I don't like is you can only do the customization in a certain way to actually make it your home. It's not their fault but certain things can't be changed. There's a wall here in one living room that can't be removed. The bathroom on the lot had two shower heads and when we got this one, it only had one so that was kind of a downer. It's like a big shower, and you can try to get half of it clean and not the other half very well.

I really liked the salesperson and the people who were in there, Danny and Rachel. Secondary to that is that we just absolutely walked into the house that I was looking for. We had options fo customization but we ended up with it pretty much like it was, the way we saw it the first time. One thing we did was add a porch. But from what I understand, the cabinet doors and the drawers in the bathroom were set up to cut incorrectly at the beginning because this was the new model. So they had to replace some of the doors in the bathroom. We had some things that had to be fixed and everything went well with that. Anything we had an issue with at all was pretty much taken care of. There was a little bit of waiting but you gotta wait for some things sometimes. It was nothing that was really a problem.

My nephew and my grandson went with me and we were trying to get to Albuquerque. This was in December 16 and it was so snowed out. We couldn’t get through. We turned around and we were gonna go back to Winslow where we were staying and my grandson asked if we could go to Chino Valley. So, late in the afternoon, we got down there and Clayton Homes were the first properties that we saw. I looked around and it was perfect. So, my nephew said that we should go down a little more. Maybe we could find out more about them and see if they had any homes for sale. We stopped at Clayton Homes and started looking at the models.

The rep offered us a snack and he said that if we wanted, he could tell us good places to go for dinner. He showed us homes, layouts and insurances that were available. He didn’t sell anything. He just showed us everything we wanted to see. It sold itself. We put down payments on three of them that afternoon. One for each of us. The home buying process with Clayton Homes was so simple and easy. Matt was the best-informed and the most reasonable. He was on top of everything. Sharon was great and the owner, Dave, was incredible. Even Jay, the manager who came out to survey the property, spent more time with me so we could figure out the layout of the house. Eddie was right on top of any questions I had.

I had plenty of customization. I wanted the soaker tub, instead of the regular. I didn’t want a back door, so I got an area where I could put in a freezer or a sink in the utility room. I didn’t want any carpeting at all, so they traded me the shutters that were in there, for putting in the wood floor. Then, when we were signing the deal, they said that they would give me the mini-blinds for free. I loved it. Everything about the experience was 100% over the top.

I was out there by myself because we were trying to sell my house here in Hemet. At 1:30 in the morning on a Sunday, the winds were blowing at 60 miles an hour and there was rain. I couldn’t hear a thing in my bedroom which showed how well-made they are. But I heard this drip and I got up and looked all over for it. Finally, I was ready to turn off the bathroom light and there was water in the tub. I looked up and I saw it coming in the mini-blinds. I called the rep, Matt, and he answered the phone. He told me he would take care of it.

He sent out two emails to the owners, one to Jay, the project manager, and one to Eddie, who does all the repairs. Eddie called me at 9 o’clock the next morning. He said he got the email and asked if it was okay to come out. He took down the fascia and pulled out the caulking. He told me what happened. They had multiple homes that were all alike, and they caulked some of them for Northern Arizona and some for Southern. They did that on a Thursday. On Friday, they hauled my home up here and it didn’t even have a chance to stick or dry. He took out all the caulking and the windows. He dried everything off, put it back, put on the fresh caulking and the fascia back up, and repainted. He came in the house and did the same thing with those windows. He dried up the floors and left two towels out because he was not sure what was gonna happen with the two. He said they should be okay, but it was where most of the water came in.

There are 11 windows in the house and he did 7 of them. He said that they never had problems with those windows above the sink and the washer and dryer. I asked how often they have these kinda problems and he said that they did 88 homes last year and only had problems with 5. I have not had a problem with it since. I have recommended Clayton to friends. I have friends who are going out with me in August, right at the hottest part of the year, because they don’t believe how nice the temperature is where I live. I've invited all of my friends to come out and stay so they can actually see it and see where it is.

The customer service really stood out. They were as nice as they can be. Any time I'd asked them stuff, they'd always answered me. And if they ended up not knowing, they would find out and give me a call back and give me an answer and stuff. The homes were laid out pretty good. We started on one side and went through one right after the other. They were fantastic. They were built better than any of the other ones that we went into. I've referred three other people down to Clayton to go check them out.

We saw that Clayton Homes has mobile homes. We looked into their place and I like that the personnel was really nice to us. They were really putting attention to what we were looking for. We got our home just how they had it in the model home. We decided to take it how it was. I've already recommended some people to Clayton. It took about four months longer to get the house than what they said, but I understand weather-wise. And as far as getting them back out here to work on it, they could probably do a little bit better job what they do on it. They're nice people but they're just in a hurry. But I understand that too.

Our experience with Clayton Homes' home buying process was very good. The whole process went very smoothly. It did seem to take an awfully long time. And it seemed like they kept calling us for the same questions over and over. But I thought it went well. We walked in at Clayton Homes and they gave us a tour of different models, and my wife fell in love with the one we have.

We love our home consultant. Smitty was a super nice guy. He has followed up several times with us. For instance, we were promised certain things by the subdivision where we rent the lot, and he has followed up a couple of times with the office here. We were promised certain things but they still haven't fulfilled some of the promises that were made. And he has followed up numerous times. We would call down to the office and they wouldn't call us back. He stopped by here one day and went down and talked to them. Although we have talked with the office here numerous times, they keep saying, "Well, you're on the calendar," but nothing ever gets done. So, it's not Clayton's fault. This is a Clayton community for the most part. It's more so the holding company that runs the whole place. Smitty has been really good.

We were able to customize our home. The master bath was customized by my wife. And from what we understand, now the floor models at the dealership are now equipped the way we wanted it. We eliminated the garden tub and made a very large shower. And in doing so, that eliminated a window in the bathroom. And it wasn't until later that we discovered that and talked to Smitty about it, and they came right out and put a window in for us at no charge. So, it was phenomenal.

When it comes to manufacturing homes, I had a very low opinion of them. And after actually walking through several of the dealership models, I completely changed my mind, except for two things - the carpeting is just standard and it's about as cheap a carpeting as you could possibly put in a home. But I understand because that was the one that was included. But everything else was eye-opening and surprising to me. The level of quality of the walls, the cabinets, and the kitchen are really very surprising. I love the house. We went to two other dealerships other than Clayton Homes. And when I left, I was like, "I don't think I really wanna get a manufactured home." And then, we went into Clayton Homes and I completely changed my mind. It truly is amazing to me how nice the place is. So, I'm very impressed.

I was referred by a friend of mine to Clayton Homes. I started dealing with Ric as my salesperson to buy a house. I considered other manufactured homes but the Clayton home seemed to fit the needs that most of the people in my marketplace like. It’s a 2,000 square feet home with 4 bedrooms and 2 baths. The bang for the buck is fantastic.

The people were phenomenal when I was making the purchase. Taking the money was easy too. My salesmen were great but getting people to follow up and do the warranty work is another story. At first, I couldn't get anybody for all the warranty work. When I did, they would show up once then they would go back to order parts and I wouldn’t hear from them for six months. This is still going on.

I buy multiple homes and sometimes the finished workmanship is not that great. The trim just doesn’t look good and it sometimes has to be redone. Once, they didn’t cut the roof vent correctly so I had to cut the vent. They put the vent on top of the house but it was on top of the plywood and on top of the roof sheathing so it didn’t do any good. I pretty much abandoned getting Clayton to do the work. Now, I just hire somebody else and pay.

Clayton Homes was only like two blocks away where we were living at the time. There are two locations right there. They're side by side of each other - Oakwood Homes and Clayton Homes. And we had went to Oakwood first and the only thing I did not like about it was it had wood sidings. And because I live down here in southeast Texas, wood does not last very long down here. It rots easily. And so, I like the home that Oakwood Homes had, but we went over at Clayton Homes. Everything that made it happen for us was Adrian, the salesman for them. He was going out his way to help us. He was constantly calling and I never felt that it was just all on me. He helped me the whole way.

Clayton Homes' home buying process was easy as it gets. It was within two weeks of us walking in. A week after we walked in, we put in a deposit, a week later, we signed. It doesn't get much easier than that. I also talked to the service manager, and he and Adrian have helped me with anything I needed. When we were gonna close on the home, it was a Friday, and Adrian asked us to come up Thursday. And so, we met him up on Thursday, and then he went over everything with us and spent an hour and a half of his time explaining everything that we were gonna sign and what this meant and that meant. He did an outstanding job.

I've done a lot of remodeling in my day. So I wanted the cheapest mobile home that I could buy. 99% of the trailers you buy have the no good cabinets in them and the walls aren't done very good. And so, I don't wanna pay $80,000 and have basically the same thing. It looks prettier, but it's basically built the same way, when I'll just buy it for $29,900 and then I'll fix it the way I wanted anyway.

I've already recommended Clayton Homes to two other people. Our experience was great. Adrian made it so easy. Me and my wife's credit are not perfect. It used to be at one time, and we fell on hard times back in Colorado, made a move from there to here. We never thought we'd own another home. And we did some savings, scrounging, and everything else, and we bought some land, and then met Clayton Homes and they made it happen.

Clayton had a model that met our needs and they worked with us on our particular needs. We had already owned a property so we weren’t looking for a land package deal. We were buying the home. There’s a lot of integration with the well and the septic tanks and everything else that goes into putting a home. They were really helpful. So why I picked them was because they got quality and price points.

However, there’s a bit of confusion with identifying customers’ peculiarities. We weren’t the standard customer coming through the door. So at the very end, when it came down to signing the contracts, there were a couple of pieces that haven’t been thought through. Like who was going to hook up the septic?

There are a few checkpoints that they should ask their customers. I didn’t have a checklist of things to consider and that would be a more helpful tool. There were some very minor things that was a little confusing.

For instance, the particular model I have comes with a power supply in the house, the place where you have all your cut-off switches or your breaker box. So, this particular model takes a 220 power from whatever source you get it from, and you bring it into the house, you plug it into the copper box. But there’s no space whatsoever to run power to the septic. So, there’s confusion. And the first thought was, we gotta run another power cable from the power meter. So, I had plans to have that thing fixed up again.

Right at the end, I ended up in a situation where I had the home and everything else done except the power to the septic. And then there was all kinds of confusion and the manager there at Clayton kept saying, “Oh, that’s on you, Mr. **.” I said, “Excuse me, we negotiated this at the closing. No, this is not on me. This is on you. You gotta come out here and do it.” They did do it and they did pay for it. They complied with the contract and I saw it. So, I had no real complaints, except 10 days that I should’ve moved in, and then I realized that there’s no power to my septic tank. It took 10 days for them to do it. That was kind of a little rough road. But that had nothing to do with Colin. It’s only the misunderstanding of the clause of the particular, peculiar contract. It wasn’t a normal, straight process. But other than that, everything else went well.

I ended up having to view some of their contacts because they knew certain processes that they had from Clayton. I appreciate that. Our salesperson, Colin, who walked us through the whole process was outstanding. When there was ever any confusion or if the schedule had to switched because of rain or whatever it was, Colin was really on top of the show. He impressed the heck out of me in many ways. Everything he did was great.

Every time I called for each step of the way, for instance, “Hey, it’s time for you to run the power to the house. And you can do these other things at the same time.” Every time, there was an argument over who’s responsible for paying they sent contractors out here and the contractors say, “I’m expecting you to pay for this.” I had to get back on the phone with Clayton and sometimes it was off hours. It was just a headache. But other than that, the purchase of the home was very smooth. The people there are very responsive. All things considered, Clayton Homes did a wonderful job.

Updated on 05/17/2019: First of all this is my second review because I haven't got anything resolved from my first one! Please read my first review and this is a update. The house was clearly just thrown together and so many problems. I still don't have my final walk through but here is a list of issues. Shower door completely fell off when my son was in the shower, there is cracks in every corner of the home, kitchen cabinets are coming apart at the top of ceiling, window seals have crack, none of my windows have screens (they have been ordered 2 weeks ago I was told), only one window came with blinds and I was told he needed to check the invoice! Light switch covers just fell right off, front door will not close unless you slam it and back doors screen is sitting in my room instead of being on my door. My back door won't even lock so they have a stick holding it close.

I paid cash for this home and I paid the price they asked. I didn't even try to lower it, the salesman made me feel like Clayton Homes was the place to buy from. Everything has been lies and not ok. My last review I was told customer advocate will get ahold of me and that was a week ago and then they would only let me send a private message but the public need to know the truth about this company!

Original Review: I purchased a home from Clayton Homes cash. It was brand new and if I would of known all the lies I would be told I would of never spent a penny at this company!! Funny when you go to close they want to make sure they get a 100 percent perfect review and if I feel they deserve anything less let them know before the review so they can fix the issue. Here is my issue with that. I shouldn’t have to threaten a bad review or a call to Corporate to have things done the right way! This whole experience has been a complete nightmare! Still I am not in my house, AC won’t work but who cares. I have movers lined up and who cares they are paid, who cares it’s hot as heck outside. I was told to use a fan for a few days till they can get out to help! Let’s remember they had no problem taking that check but who cares I keep having to spend money on rent and other bills when I have a house paid! Once again worst company ever.

Clayton Homes was willing to use my land as my down payment. The home buying process took a little bit longer than what would be customary, but that was just due to some specifics relating to my particular situation. Overall, though, the experience was good. Janna was my home consultant and I was impressed with her willingness to get the job done, and the fact that she didn’t ever stop working. She was determined to get her commission. She was ready to get the job done, and she knew what needed to be done to be able to get it all squared away. There’s a couple of things here or there in our home. It just reminds me that it is a mobile home and not what you’d consider a site-built home. But all three of my kids have their own bedrooms, and we all have our privacy. It’s a great home. And apparently, it’s capable of stopping a vehicle at 30 miles an hour. I’ve already recommended Clayton Homes.

The home buying process with Clayton Homes took longer than we anticipated. I had to go through a couple of lenders to find the right one. So, the overall process was long, but it was worth it. Our home consultant was great. He stuck with me even though the lenders were giving us a hard time even though my credit score was great. The one lender didn’t wanna deal with mobile homes, and the other one said that they wouldn’t put the house. So, I wasn’t able to buy the house. But he stuck with me and I'm very happy with it.

The only thing that held us up was getting everything together, once the house was on site, getting it sped up, and getting all the electric turned on. It took longer because we had a lot of rain to deal with. When we closed on the house, they told me it would be two to four weeks before I could move in, and it turned out to be two and a half months. So, that was the only thing I was upset about. Some of it had to do with the weather, some of it had to do with them having so much business. There were so many different people that were buying houses, and they were overbooked. Even though I was living in a motel while they were getting all this together, I don’t think it was their fault. It was the contractors that they contracted that was taking a lot of time. I'm still satisfied with Clayton Homes.

We had a Clayton Home that I bought up in Colorado back in 2014 and we were up there a good bit. We left, and I sold the home within a week. When we started looking at the homes here, we naturally drifted towards Clayton, and they got what we were looking for. I like Clayton Homes. It was a deal. And the floor plans are good and the walk-in closet stood out. All plans were laid out in a more functional manner than some of the other ones I’ve been in. There’s no wasted space in one of them. I really kinda dig the house. And we didn’t get the most expensive model. In fact, we got the most economical double wide model that they make. It’s just my wife and I now. I don’t have a big family anymore, so we didn’t need a big home and the price of it was economical, too.

I told them to bring the trailer out as is, and if ever anything needs to be done to it, I would change it out. I’ve put in some splash guards along the bath wall where the drain stop is and it keeps on sinking. I put a big, kind of a towel, splash guard upon it. It looked nice. But I don’t like the Formica tops on the countertops. There’s a few stuff that I don’t wanna do just yet and I’ll take care of it later, but they have a tendency to pull up from the edges if you bump them. There’s a center island in it that I’m constantly bumping into. My hips bump it when I walk through it, and it’s peeled up some of the edges on it. That’s something I’m dissatisfied about the whole rig. Other than that, in the back, there’s a washer room just off the kitchen there for laundry, and I built a little pantry in there. It blends in with the natural lines of the other house and it seems to flow pretty nicely. So, it looked good.

The overall home buying process through Clayton was easy and really simple. I got a really good salesperson. We had some issues at first with setting up the electricity in there for a very long time. And when the guys would come in to work on it, they would miss a few things because they couldn’t really see it that well. Other than that, we had some permitting issues. The people that set the house up got the address wrong on it, so the salesperson that I had dealt with fixed all that. She was really easy to work with. They also had two customer service ladies that came out. We did a walk-through on the trailer to get it stood up. They asked a lot of good questions and were really helpful explaining about the appliances and everything involved in the house. It was a really good experience. And it was the most painless home purchase I have ever made

He was calling and letting me know what was going on, what they were gonna do and when they were gonna do it. I wanted a different faucet on the sinks. It's just minor stuff that they said they could do, and they did it. I'm very satisfied with the quality of the home. The insulation is real good on the light bill. I was really satisfied with the winter bills. I was also very satisfied with my Clayton Homes experience, with where I'm at and the home that I have.

My brother and sister-in-law bought a house from Clayton Homes, and my grandson bought a house from Clayton Homes too. And we needed to get a house and so that's why we went there. With Clayton, it was easy enough to get a home. However, to get anything done with the home after you have it is difficult. We had issues with our flooring, and we just settled without even having them do it because they brought people in and they never did anything right. The floor's still screwed, but they gave us a check for $1,400 which to me, was lowball, and we're just gonna have to live with it.

We're in our 60s. We're older home buyers, and it's gonna be difficult. We're going to be paying for this thing for the next 20 years, and I just didn’t think the quality was all that. It seemed like we had to call and call and try to get someone to come and do this floor. And I had plans for Easter. I had plans for Thanksgiving last year. And I couldn't have guests over because the floor was screwed up. I told the woman from Clayton, Lorraine, that I'd like to have something done before Passover because I was hoping to have family here. It didn’t get done. It came and passed. And then finally, after I hounded her a little bit, she sent a check for $1,400 for a damn floor that they were only gonna give us $600 for. And we're paying for this for probably the rest of our lives, and I wasn’t happy about that.

I have contacted several people several times. Randy, the guy that sold us the trailer, was hard to get a hold of because his brother passed away. He always had different excuses. And then he called and said, "Well, we're really counting on you giving us a good score because Clayton Homes is gonna be calling you and I'd really like if you'd give us a 10 because this depends on people and stuff." And this was before my floor was even fixed. He wanted us to give him a review of a 10. And that was hurtful, but we got the house and we're grateful to have it. We're very blessed, and I just didn’t think that it was appropriate to be calling and begging for a good review.

Clayton's reps showed me their homes and so I walked up and saw what I liked. After the application, for some reason the application to get the land expired. They renewed it and then gave me the home after three or four months. The home is of good quality. We like everything in it. We have a four-bedroom home with a kitchen, dining and living room. We've had a pretty good experience with Clayton.

I really enjoyed the home buying process at Clayton Homes. When I first came there and saw the home, I wanted it because the bathtub was huge. There were minor problems, but the guy, John, that we transacted with and my overall experience with Clayton Homes were very good. Everything that I wrote down that need to be done, they were right on it. Whenever I had a problem, they took care of it right away which I appreciate. If I need to buy another home, I would definitely do that with Clayton Homes. John and the crew are very, very good.

John was very truthful when it came down to letting me know the things I needed to know. It’s a great experience dealing with him. His boss was a good guy too. He sat down and explained some things to me too when I had questions. He was excellent as well. As a matter of fact, I told them that I have some land that I’m gonna give my sister. And when she’s ready to build, I’m gonna buy there from Clayton Homes. This is my third home and whenever a problem arise, I contacted John and he had an answer for me within a day or two.

We had gone and checked up another dealer, but Clayton's homes feel a lot better than some of the other places. The sales people at Clayton were also very helpful. Brandy did a good job taking care of us. Everything was good other than the fireplace. We had asked for a fireplace and even though we got it wrote down, we still received the house without one. That was kinda disappointing to my wife.

Clayton Homes was professional and Mel was great. I have high respect for him. He has a hard job, a lot of responsibility and he does it well. He backs his word up. However, I wasn't satisfied with the guy who sold us the unit. He told us that the air conditioner came with the home, and after we got in the home, it didn’t come with the home. He wouldn’t stand by his word, telling us that he said that but he did. I had him in front of Mel and I told Mel that that other salesman could say what he says, but if Clayton doesn't want the air conditioner to go with the home, they need to tell me. So, Mel got us an air conditioner and made it right that way.

Also, we've already changed the floors in the home because they put down a cheap linoleum that was paper thin. The people that put it together put a big rip in it, and then they tried to hide it with a piece of carpet. We found it and Mel was gonna have the whole thing replaced. I told him I didn't want the cheap stuff back again. So, we bought new good stuff and put it down. We've changed the place a lot. Apart from that issue, the quality of the home is fine and it has a lot of cupboards. Though I don't care for the black appliances and I would have changed them fast. Black doesn’t stay as clean as I want it to and always seems like it’s got prints all over it. Mel offered to buy them back but then I decided we should keep them. Whatever he says, I can trust.

I was referred to the Clayton Homes in Athens Tn. I spoke with a salesman who was very personable and took my information. After 4 weeks I was under the assumption my modular home was ordered. I was advised by the manager Justin my modular had not been ordered and would take between 2 to 4 weeks to order. I spoke with the salesman and was advised the modular was not ordered. The salesman and I would speak often after the office had closed. The salesman explained he had to work the office and was not provided time or administrated help to process the order during normal business hours.

When I called to inquire about the delay the manager stated he had not checked on his salesman's progress and should have been more hands on. On the first day speaking to the salesman I told him time was very important as I was selling my home and did not have anywhere for my family and disabled son to live. When I questioned Justin he told me he was not going to do business with me and to go to another Clayton sales center. I again explained time was very important and Justin stated he did not want to do business with me. After 4 weeks I was given my walking papers and told he had the final decision.

I wanted to let as many people know if you decide to deal with Clayton in Athens Tn to follow up every day and do not say anything about his customer service. If Justin becomes angry he finds it easier not to do business with you and make certain what is being told to you is the truth. I am now attempting to purchase another modular home but it will not be ready by my settlement date. I am sorry to say I feel used and was treated very poor. I hope this complaint finds its way to Justin and he should try to be more tolerant when people complain about his lack of customer service. Thank you for your time and I hope your experience with Clayton Athens turns out better than my family's.

I kinda had a bad experience with another company so I went with Clayton Homes and my experience with them was great. I’ll recommend the people I’ve worked with. Wendy and Christian were awesome. Wendy, our sales rep, was very patient and very knowledgeable. We took about a year and a half to decide on a house, and she never got tired of us when we came with different things. She handled it all like a pro.

They put the wrong faucet in, but they switched that out. However, I think the wrong color was painted on the inside of the house. We picked out gray and to me, it looks beige. Nothing I do can bring out the gray. They keep saying it’s gray but it’s not. I’m disappointed that the interior of my house is not the color I wanted. It’s kinda frustrating. But other than that, we’re pretty happy with the quality of the house so far. We’ve gotten all the bugs worked out. We’ve gotten an agreement that they’ll come back after a year to fix whatever else we find like if any cracks happen during settling in.

My Clayton experience was wonderful. I’m 100% satisfied with the buying process. I would recommend Clayton to anyone that is looking to buy because I feel like they are very thorough in giving their information. And I don’t feel like they’re just there to just sell a home. They’re actually there for you through the whole process. I had went to a couple of others and it was like, “If you buy, you buy. If you don’t, you don’t. So, I really don’t like you wasting my time,” type thing. But when I came to Clayton and initially walked on the lot, Chris was there from the time I got out of my vehicle to the time I got back in my vehicle.

I was impressed with Chris' attitude. We were having a lot of situations going on with just the actual process with our land any time I called, he was considerate and very understanding. He helped me through a lot of stuff out of what he really had to do. And I don’t think it was just based on trying to get a sale. I think he was just trying to honestly help me. I was also 100% comfortable throughout the process. I’m normally a very on edge person and the fact that 98% of my conversation was with Chris, I was very comfortable with him sending him my information.

Everything was explained. This was a totally different and new process for me. And this wasn’t even a option when I first started house-buying. I would never thought of this because when you think of a trailer, you always think of things on wheels. But I was so amazed when I walked through. Chris was very informative on everything because I had a lot of questions and concerns. I don’t feel like I was let down in any areas of my process.

Everything went well on Clayton’s side. The only little thing that I do have with Clayton and I’ve been meaning to call them, is that I have not received a screen for my front window. But Chris is no longer at the Bossier location. He’s now down south. And so, I just haven’t had time to call them back. I’ve spoken to another person. They were supposed to be contacting me regarding picking up the screen. I told them I’ll come and pick it up since I work in Shreveport and I didn’t want them to drop all the way to Caspiana, and I could just swing over to Bossier. But I haven’t heard anything from them about it.

We selected a home, but that wasn’t available. So, we went with a second option because I wanted more closet space. So, there was another one that was available that fit the specs that I wanted. So, we purchased a four-bedroom, two baths. We have a pool table and we have two living areas. There are only three of us - me, my husband and our little dog, and we love our home.

My wife and I were looking at different floorplans and we finally found the Revolution 60. They had the regular bathroom and they also had what they called the glamour bath, and the home already had the glamour bath in the display. We looked at it and we talked about it, then we decided to go back again. On the day we walked in, it went on sale. Things go for around $83,000, but we got it for $75,000. We decided to buy it and it has been really good. Both of us love the floor plan and we love living here.

I enjoyed the home-buying process with Clayton Homes very much. The seller I was dealing with out in Columbia, Bill, was good to work with. He made the application process very easy. From start to finish, he was really trying to help. He went way over and above board and really did a great job. The only problems I had coming were from some idiot from the finance place at the end. Bill did great in helping address the concerns. The woman at the finance company kept returning everything to the underwriter and made something that should’ve been about four months turned into eight months. We started the process on January 22nd last year, but we didn’t move in until August 1st. The woman acted like we were an afterthought. However, Bill stayed in contact with her bosses and with her and everything had a great resolution.

Also, when I was looking at Clayton Homes, I went online and they were showing the building process. They showed all the holes that they had to drill through for the piping and wiring coming up and they showed them putting spray foam insulation and talking about, “Well, we seal every hole.” However, they didn’t on this one. I had to cut the bottoms out of my kitchen cabinet to be able to fix it because there were big, giant holes going through with the pipe and the mice were running up like Grand Central station in every one of them. I’ve already sealed all the holes up with spray foam insulation and everything is fine now. Everything is beautiful and I love this place. We had a smaller home at our last house, but we only used about half the house. We use 100% of this house even though it is bigger. It is laid out perfectly.

I’ve told people about Clayton Homes and I have recommended them. I told them to go down there and talk to Bill. I worked with him all year last year. He is really a very patient and a kind man. I’m satisfied with my experience. They have a lot of people who are really quick to complain that is why I called after I was done and I said, “People are quick to complain but I wanna be quick to thank you.”

Updated on 02/06/2020: We have been in our Clayton home for just under a year. We have had many many problems. Some have been corrected, some not and some corrected but made worse. Our floors, laminate, is bubbled in spots and dented in others. Trim is coming off in different places. Windows are not even. Tonight we discovered our kitchen sink is leaking. This is the third time we have had water leak under our cabinets so I’m sure we have mold growing under them. Where the home was put together is just awful, totally crooked on the roof. I will call in the morning to have repaired but I’m not holding my breath on them fixing it correctly. This mobile home was not cheap...$140,000.00.!! Please just do your research before spending your hard earned money at Clayton Homes.

Original Review: Been in our home for 2 months, some problems have been fixed, but caused other problems, others have not. We have a messed up wall and trim, was told, by trim/finish guy, it cannot be fixed. Sliding glass door screen has not been working for over a month, still not fixed. The dishwasher was not set back far enough in the island and apparently cannot, so it sticks out. Trim guy pushed it back as far as he could and he pinched the drain line. Kitchen flooded the first time I used it. Trim guy brought out some trim to cover up the sides so now we cannot get it out if it needs repairs. It still is not straight and the sides still show. The dishwasher has been damaged, it does not dry the dishes. Trim on island is broken and bubbled out. Guest bathroom toilet runs constantly. Dents on the floor, a piece was torn. Microwave will not stay open when trying to remove food.

We do not have Gfsi plugs in the master bath even though the sinks are within 12-18" of the plugs. Baseboards are not flushed with the walls. Nails were left around the outside of the home. Part of the trim is off of a kitchen drawer. The vent above the stove makes an awful rattle when the wind blows. The home was not cleaned, dirt/dust left behind the stove and refrigerator. We found a water bottle in the vent of our living room. Fixtures are cheap. This is just a small list of the problems we have had/have still. The skirting is terrible. We asked for 16" studs, did not get. We wanted french doors in the dining room was told no but they have them in other homes they have built. It just HAS NOT been a good experience. We are just so very sorry we went with a Clayton Homes.

This is about the Tulsa location. All seemed great when I started talking to them. I put my $500 down and got approved from the bank. Then it started changing... First they came out to my land and everything was an issue. Clearing some trees and putting in a gravel road was so much trouble. Do get them started on how hard it is to get a elevation survey. Then how hard it is to do HUD 81 loan for them. When they started talking prices, there was an extra charge for all the things they said were included. Like a couple of stairs to the front porch. My wife specifically ask if the stairs came with it and he said it did. What he chose not to say was that it came with it for an extra cost. He did that with several items. Clayton Homes was on a Facebook page that I had seen and they had better deals than the local places where I live. We had a good experience during the home buying process and Brandon, the person we worked with, was nice. He answered questions anytime we called. Sometimes, I don’t even think he was there at the office, but my husband would call him and he would be able to help us. The quality of the build has been good so far although we are having issues with our underpinning. But we’ve contacted them and they’re supposed to send someone out.

Clayton Homes has an office in the next town from where I live. We drive by there several times a week. We stopped in and the salesman, Scott, explained everything to us and was honest about everything. They did a lot of the leg work for me. He gave me his cell phone number. When we got everything out here and set up, I could either call him or I also had the builder's contact info. They were right on it any time I've called them. Clayton Homes is still awesome to work with.

We customized things in our place. We picked out our floors and instead of the panel one, we had sheetrock put throughout. But when we were picking all the stuff out, my wife and I decided to take out the cheaper side. That way, five, six years down the road when she wants to upgrade stuff, we have something to upgrade to.

We purchased a modular home through Clayton Homes in Shelby NC. Worst thing we done. Salespeople are friendly but the actual home is very cheap built. The cabinets are falling apart and just fall off the hinges into the floor. They are very unstable and cheap. The sheetrock is already cracking and the independent contractors they have setting the homes up so terrible work. Our brick underpinnings is awful and not set right. Please look into the quality before buying a home from them. I hate I made this purchase. I should have went elsewhere. It takes weeks before the actual manufacturers can come out to look at the issues. I have to rate their quality of their work and product very low. Not worth all the money you pay for it. I do not recommend it at all

I've known a lot of people who have dealt with Clayton Homes and when I bought my own home, the buying process with Clayton was good. Their people were very friendly and they answered questions I needed answered. I picked my home and Jonathan, the guy who works at the Statesville location, was super nice and helpful. He has also been in contact and so it didn't make me feel like they got my money and now I won’t ever hear anything. The home has been up to my standards but one thing I am not satisfied with is the flooring. It looks like wood but it's a vinyl sheet and it's not very durable. Also, I am a little bit put out with as far as what is covered now. I guess what used to be how it was in a package changes over time. They have to go out and get their people to do what I need that needs to be done too, which is the hardest part. Still, I'm satisfied with my new home and I'd recommend Clayton Homes.

We had seen the lot and everything that Clayton Homes have in Abilene. We looked some years ago but we didn’t ever stop. This time, we went there because we knew we needed to find another home and we liked what we saw. During the buying process, I told them about credit and not knowing if I could get into one. They said that they would find a lender, as well as what they would estimate at or what we needed. They then got us into a home.

We found their trailer on the lot at the end of June but we pushed it back a little bit further as we had rain in the area, so they couldn’t deliver it to me as quickly as they wanted to. It took two months from when we started looking and to when they delivered it. I'm very satisfied with our experience with Clayton Homes. If I find anything wrong with the home, they would have someone come out and fix it right away. They have done everything they said they would do, even the estimates on electric bill and energy saving. It has all been very satisfactory and we have a lot cheaper bills on utilities. Clayton Homes has been good.

Ever since we got our home from Clayton, they couldn't seem to get our front door right. The whole frame of the outside door had sprung. They put a new screen door, but that didn’t work, so they put a new one on. They supposedly shipped this from the factory in Tennessee, and it was bad because the main factory guy was up here. He was the one that determined that it was bad. They've stuck it in and then our deadbolt wouldn’t close.

They're supposed to bring us another whole door, and then we'll go from there because we just keep trying to put handles on there. It still doesn’t lock right. Different people come and work on that but every time, the person will say that there's one of the handles in their car and they just keep switching handles until somebody quits complaining and does all their own stuff.

I told Clayton I don’t mind putting $100 with the $75 that they allotted for that, and I would buy the best handle I could buy. But then it won't work either because the guy messed the door up. It's like they nailed our foot to the floor, and we keep going in circles. We're getting all the kinks worked out, but it feels like if they keep stalling us and keep putting wrong parts on there, then all of a sudden, we're gonna be out of the warranty deal, and then it'll be on us. I understand there are different things, but now it's starting to get old, and we're running out of time. But overall, the home-buying experience was good. The people were great and they set us up right away. We've recommended Clayton to two of our friends, and they just moved in in the same area.

I own this place and I had been trying to figure out how to make this deal work forever and ever. Then we came across this particular Clayton home and it kinda fit in. So we went ahead, pulled the trigger and did it. The people at their dealership have been good to work with. They also moved the home in here before they said they would, which was great. But I’m not real satisfied with the house. We’ve had lots of problems with it. All the water lines are giving us fits. We can’t keep them together to begin with. The drains on the sinks are not tight and I know some stuff can vibrate loose in transit but this is way beyond that. Nothing was tightened up from the factory and they came loose and flooded the house. There's also a piece of trim off of one end of the house that was never put on.

The people at Clayton are great as far as they’d tried to get a crew out here. But their crews can’t deliver what they promised. Clayton needs to slow way down on their promises to get to reality. Even now, we’re still having leaks. The crews would come out, work and leave then they would come back and work. Sometimes, the problem is fixed right but sometimes, it isn't. This would be my last Clayton.

If you are planning on buying a mobile home from Clayton Mobile Homes in Yakima, WA., RUN! I did not get my walk in rain shower, I did not get my walk in pantry, my countertops are horrible; sharp, rough bottoms under the edge, caulking is already coming off all of my countertops, the trim on my counters are always coming off as they only have little tacks holding them on, my dishwasher was not in the house when it delivered. The contractors used my house as a Dry Shack during construction. I came by one day to see how things were progressing, and they had a hot plate on the counter for cooking and everyone was in my house eating lunch.

I came by another day and one of the workers was walking out of my master bathroom and I can tell you by the smell, he wasn't in there working! I was told they would keep plastic or something on my floors to protect them while they worked on the inside of my house, I had a solid layer of dirt on my floors that they walked on for two weeks. My move in date kept getting move, I was supposed to be in my house by the end of October 2017, and did not get occupancy until the end of March 2018, (Please read the fine print on your contract!! they do not guarantee finish dates).

I was advised by John, Glenn and Himie (Jamie) at Clayton Homes during my walkthrough, that if I had major issues, to go ahead and call in to have them fixed, but to wait for any of the smaller issues until I was closer to my year being up, this would give the house time to settle, and that is when you usually see cracks in the walls especially where the two halves are put together. For about 7 months I have asked them to fix my toilet seats, because when they were installed they screwed the seat on and stripped the screws so the toilet seats slide back and forth.

I have had several holes show up under my linoleum flooring which were fixed with the exception of this last one that showed up a month before my year was up and they won't fix it now, nor will they fix the crack in my walls (which I have been asking them to fix for about 4 months now). They are also not going to fix the caulking that is coming off all of my counters (have been asking for this for at least 3 months). I was told they would send me a tube of caulking!

Last March I called to talk to a manager in the corporate office about all of my concerns and was told that someone from the Advocacy Team would be contacting me within 3 days, I still have not heard from them!! I was threatened with a lien on my house for an additional $10K that Glenn at Clayton Homes (Yakima) told me I owed them after I had paid them the full amount on my house, but would not tell me what it was for, except this is what I owed the contractors. This was not the house I thought I would be moving into.

I saw Clayton Homes online and I heard some recommendations which made me decide to go with them. The home buying process was easy and it was good although it took a while. From the time we first applied until something started happening, it was about two years. My father-in-law and I were on the loan but he was retired so he didn't have a whole lot to do with it. And then, he passed away. I should have been in the home before that and they didn't even start on it until after. We had to start the whole process over again and it frustrated me to the point where I was ready to pull the plug on it. In my understanding, it was an issue with the initial loan officer.

I wouldn't want to see anyone else go through what I had to go through. I applied for the loan at least two times and it was approved each time. They had so many days after the first approval to get something started but they didn't do anything. They even told me it never taken this long to put a single home for anybody but it seemed like they were in no big hurry for anyone. They ordered my house and it sat in Harrisonburg for a year and some months before it came to my property.

I’m in the house now and I’m enjoying it. However, they still haven’t finished some things that they should have done like the well water. The well was already there and they didn't have to dig a new one. There are wires still sticking out of the ground that shouldn't be, so I'm afraid to cut around it. They came back a couple of times and corrected some things. I’m 60 years old and I didn’t need a citadel house from the ground up. It would have been quicker if it went that way instead of waiting two years. I've seen some people put up the whole neighborhood while I'm waiting to get one house. They didn't have to clear any land. It's on an open field. Now, they cleared some trees and put drains. Overall, I'm happy to be in a new house but I'm not satisfied with the whole process and I wouldn’t recommend them.

I thought going with Clayton would be a faster process than building the house, but everything was done in about the same time, about four months. The people that came out were okay. However, one of the contractor stole a bunch of stuff from my land. He stole my shoes, some cinder blocks and some more stuff. I had left a lot of my stuff in my vehicle. When I came that morning, all of my shoes was there but when I went back that night, my stuff was gone when that contractor came in. I didn't appreciate it so I called the company and the told them about it.

So far, I've had the home for eight months. The little nail they put in the little cheap trimming really upset me because I had to call them every two or three months to get it fixed. If I would have had a house built, it would have been better. They would need to come back. Nevertheless, the overall quality is good. Aside from the little trimming and stuff, it is a beautiful house and they got some nice homes.

Clayton's homes were manufactured better and more stable. The sheetrock was thicker. I felt that overall, they were a better class home. Plus, the people at Clayton Homes were A-number-one and they didn't forget me. The other day, I discovered that the water in the big bathtub in the master bedroom bathroom wouldn't get hot enough. I couldn't take a bath in it and I didn't know how to turn the heat up on the water. I called Clayton Homes and told the lady about it. She said she'd have somebody out here in the evening to show me. That evening, one of the workers came and showed me how to adjust the water heater.

Clayton went over all the aspects of my home purchase. They went over the contract and I got what I wanted. Plus, my salesman was awfully good. I told him I wanted the best appliances and warranties I could get in the home and he recommended the best. He discussed what was the best, what was not as good and the price. I mostly went with what he told me and so far, I haven't found a thing he told me that wasn't so. Moreover, when I had a problem and I called, he would try his best to take care of it for me. I'd give the home's quality an A plus. Everything is electric and I have electric heat. In the winter months, the electric bill on that trailer was just $275 a month. Sometimes it'd be $175 and I'm happy with that. I'd recommend Clayton Homes.

My husband and I purchased our home in 2017. This review is no reflection on the dealer that sold us the home because they have nothing to do with the building the homes...they just sell them. It never occurred to me that I should look inside cabinets to assess how they are constructed. Cabinets are cabinets, right? Wrong!!! The wall cabinets are fairly decent with backs, shelves and so on. The bottom cabinets are a complete joke! They are just a frame with a fascia and doors. NO BACKS. The sheetrock is visible and the shelves are freestanding made of cheap press wood with 2 sides and a top that bow in the middle once you set anything on them. There are no sides to separate each cabinet. It's completely wide open underneath. When I asked about this, I was told "They're all that way." Had I looked inside, I would never have purchased the home.

The so-called pots and pans drawers are a joke. The bottoms fell out of them. They sent someone to fix them but all they did was glue them back together. The drawers directly under the stovetop were ruined after water leaked through the range hood. We filed a claim with the insurance and it wasn't covered because of the shoddy job that was done to seal the vent on the roof. The house was a little over a year old and we were told it was our responsibility to inspect the roof. After one year, we didn't think it was necessary to inspect the roof.

Long story short...we had to tear out the drawers and the range top and make any repairs ourselves. The gentleman that is the manager where we purchased the home was kind enough to have someone help us with that. He even went to bat for us with the insurance company to no avail. Needless to say, we are in the process of purchasing new cabinets and countertops for the kitchen of our now 2 year old home. After purchasing this home for $150k, we should not have to be purchasing new cabinets. We had other issues with the home but those issues were fixed. And I get it...it's a "mobile home". There's going to be some repairs after having it transported. My disappointment is, we paid for the upgraded kitchen, only to have to have it replaced by us because of the poor quality and craftmanship. If it's possible, do not go with the insurance offered by Vanderbilt when you close for your home. They are not in favor for the consumer.

The finishing parts of the house are terrible. All the wood finishing got good gaps in it. In fact, I've got wood finishing coming off. Some of the window frames are sinking even. There are also gaps between the walls and they keep telling me it's still settling. But the wood finishing is disgusting. I bought the house from Clayton Homes in late June. In early July, they laid it. I talked to the people who got mobile homes as well. Their homes have settled and they're not having the problems I'm having.

Other than that, the team from Clayton Homes helped me in every way they can. They're actually doing everything. However, I have to go back to the manufacturer where they built it to actually give me the proper answer. While I'm getting a positive answer, we're waiting for it to settle for another month because the wall panels in the bedrooms had been glued and they're saying that if they pull that panel off, it's gonna be a big mess.

They could put a skeleton board on top of the carpet but we can't do anything yet until it settles to see if there are any more panels cracking. Also, the closets are unfinished. It's plasterboard and they told me that will be all finished, but they’re not finished properly. They told me the house was brand new. I took it as it was, and they told me everything would be fine. While I like the layout and I like what I thought was gonna be the finished woodwork. I never expect it'll be gaps like a Grand Canyon. The house is definitely not worth 50,000.

The dealership I bought my mobile home shut down without telling me. Other than that, the build quality of the homes was what I expected it to be and I'm happy with it.

My Husband and I were extremely excited to be pitching our first home. Set up and purchasing were great and they answered any questions we had. However, after the initial set up we have had problems after problems with this home. We purchased it new right from the dealership so I wouldn’t expect too many problems. We have had a few here and there but our biggest was that the sewerage pipe fell underneath the house, and ended up backing up sewage into the pipes of our showers, baths, and washing machine. They did have a plumber come out and fix that problem however we had to continue to keep calling them to get their handyman out first then an actual plumber so we couldn’t use any water in the house. We had to have 3 drywalls replaced.

There was a leak in my son's room that wet his carpet through the wall. It took them over a week to get to us and fix that. Their handyman had to come out twice to fix it because it wasn’t fixed the first time. Now we have had problems with the roof since August. We called them and sent photos right away of the wet spots we had inside our home in our living room. It took them weeks once again after emails and phone calls to get their once again handyman out to fix it. Claims he fixed it and said it was due to the vent. Well.. we noticed back in February it Was leaking once again. Called. Emailed pictures once again. And the handyman came out again and claimed it was fixed once again! It wasn’t. 2 moths ago it started to leak even worst. Called and emailed the pictures yet again and then a week later after not hearing from them finally called our insurance company.

Then the very next day I had some roofers pull in from out of state and claimed Clayton Homes called them to fix the roof. Called Clayton Homes and talked with them. Yes, they are the one who sent them without any sort of appointment time. They came in and assessed the damage and said they would have to take the whole strip of the ceiling out to replace the water damage and replace the vent on top. So we had to be out of the house that day. So we did. He claims he fixed it. Last month we have a downpour and guess what? The ceiling was wet yet again! Once again we emailed Clayton Homes and I also texted the picture to the roofer's wife as she handles the appointments. And said she would get back to me and never did.

So last week I called Clayton Homes about it as it is storm season now and know it needs to get fixed ASAP. He said he would get back to me. Never did.. However yesterday the handyman called me and had no clue as to what was going on. Then I chatted with the roofer's wife as well yesterday and claimed that she never received the text from last month so I screen shot it to her. She even replied back to me. She apologize and told me that he would get to me some time this week. Now as I sit here with major downpours I have pots and towels all over my living room floor because the ceiling is leaking so bad that it’s leaking and dripping onto the floor and even into the ceiling fan! We are so beyond frustrated!

We video taped it and sent it to the roofer's wife as well as Clayton Homes! You can clearly see where the roofer cut it out because that’s where it’s leaking from however his wife was told that that’s not where he cut it. He is suppose to come out tomorrow. We have every email and text and video documented on every problem we have had so far. We even purchased the 5 year extended warranty. We are beyond frustrated with this and we do not know where to go from here. I’m beyond scared for the safety of my family due to the wetness issue because it could cause potential black mold issues. The only thing I can think of is legal matters. This is so ridiculous. This is Clayton Homes of Beaufort, South Carolina.

We do not recommend buying a home from Clayton of Wilmington, NC. The experience has not been a good one. And, it's still not over. We started this process in August of 2018 - it is now April 2019. We are still not in our home. No one seems to know why, or what the actual hold-up is. Every month we are told "next month". That is an old song and dance. Out of state family members were going to visit us in March - had to cancel that because you know...."next month". Very disappointing. Had family coming to visit in early May, because we should definitely be in by then, right?

Nope, just had to make the call to cancel their visit, as well. Not one person at Clayton ever gives more than vague, non-committal answers. It is beyond ridiculous and we just want to throw in the towel at this point. They often point out "remember, we are paying the interest on everything". That does not make us feel better. That is not our problem and helps nothing. If we could speed anything up, we would. We've tried.

When Clayton does give a non-vague answer, it never turns out to be the truth. Just some tid-bit to hold us at bay for "next month". We have been working on clearing/cleaning the land, and hate to give up now. However, we need somewhere to live and it seems we will never get to live in this home. When approving the plans, we specifically stated we wanted the Utility Room door to open in and have the storm door (just like the models we've seen). We were told by the Sales Manager "I think it's an in-swing door and that's the storm door shown. But, I'll ask just to clarify" (we have the text communication). Well, he must have forgotten to ask, because it has the wrong door.

We have asked repeatedly when that was going to be corrected. We're still not sure when/if they plan to do that. Ugh! And, as of today, that person got a transfer and has moved. We were not re-assigned to anyone. So, we have to wonder if we didn't call them, how long it would have been before anyone took care of us. We are really just disgusted with the whole experience. The lack of communication has been an extreme annoyance. If they don't want to answer your questions (emails, phone, etc...) they just ignore them. We are going on nine months waiting for what we thought was going to be great. We were told we would get weekly email updates regarding progress, haven't gotten one of those yet. No surprise.

When we started out, we were excited and looking forward to moving into a bigger place on a large piece of land. Very excited! Now, we are just stressed out and feel dread about anything concerning the home. The excitement is gone. This has begun to feel like a saga or a job. We were told today we are now looking at the middle/end of May. Since we have not moved in, we cannot comment on any quality problems, issues, etc... We have been inside and it seems to be what we were expecting. The inside has not been finished, so we'll see what we get when it's finished.

One thing we can comment on is there are several areas in the floor with squeaks. We are hoping this will be addressed by the "trim team". But, really we have no idea. We sure don't want a new home with squeaky floors. We've had more closing dates than we care to think about. Sigh.... Unless you have ample time on your hands, it would be wise to steer clear of Clayton of Wilmington. We wish the experience was a better one and we could give a raving review, but that's not our reality.

Wendy was really excellent. She gave us good service. We've had a few little issues, but Clayton Homes came out and took care of them. I have no problems with any of the people in the office and they’ve been really good. We paid cash for the home and we got it immediately. The only thing is there are not enough light switches in there. They said they would come back out after a year and fix a few little honey-dos, and it is time for them to come back out again. We had some leakage problem. There was also a piece missing from a vent and they didn't get that to us. We had a lot of rain out here, so we had some damage from that, but they’ve been good to come back out and put it on. We feel they are gonna need to re-texture a couple of walls, though.

We are happy with the experience with Clayton. It is a nice house and people like the floor plan. We’ve never lived in a mobile home before, but we are getting up in age and we didn't wanna wait to build, so that is what we did. There wasn’t any fixture in the living room, but they gave us a budget to get a light fixture. I was able to buy two light fixtures with the budget and they were fine with that.

I liked my conversations with Clayton Homes and I liked talking with their rep Bobby. I listened to him talk about the home and I liked what I saw and the features that came with it. The whole buying process was not difficult but it was a lot longer. The people from Clayton and the loan officer had a lot of miscommunication and missed phone calls. One was asking for stuff that they would send in, but they were saying they didn't get. But they got everything worked out. The process started probably November 2017 and I moved into the house in July of last year.

The house was put together in seven months and when I got the home, the features were a little different. Some of the borders and colors that were picked out were not in the home but they tried to correct them as best they could given the fact that the house was already put together. The borders were like pecan-type wood grain and everything was completely eggshell white. It was not a major issue compared to the living room which was supposed to have a built-in entertainment center. The advertisement of the home had it but they explained to me that it was the first one they styled like that so, what they do is purchase the entertainment center to put in the home. In spite of that, I love everything about my new home. I have already recommended Clayton to a couple of people.

We’re very satisfied with the home buying process with Clayton Homes. The people we worked with at the I-90 location were very good. They took care of everything for us and we didn’t have to do a whole lot, which was nice. The application process was a bit long, but it was straightforward. I know lending on manufactured homes is a bit different. But more options would be nice. Nevertheless, I know that the options are limited in general, so that was nothing that would deter me from doing it again.

I had an excellent interaction with their consultant Donna. She is very knowledgeable and has very good customer service skills. She knew everything that I asked. And anything that she didn’t know, she went back to me very quickly with an answer and didn’t act like she was unknowledgeable. She just wanted to make sure she gave me up-to-date information. We were riding around from one mobile home dealer to another when we ran across Clayton Homes in Conway. They had the floor plan that we liked and so we decided we'd get our mobile home from them. Another factor was the price, and also, the homes from other companies that we saw were not in the same league as theirs. The other ones had cheaper manufacturing and didn't have sheetrock walls in them. We saw a Clayton Homes branch in North Carolina and since it was close to where we're staying, we settled with that particular dealership.

The home buying process went really well, as far as the people at the dealership were concerned. We liked them. They were at their very best, were very friendly and answered all our questions. We were also very pleased with the local, the angle and the guy who set the mobile home up. We then got the mobile home as expected. It is nice for the most part because it has sheetrock walls, carpet, and the color is good, but we have been disappointed with its quality after we got it and had it set up. It was not what it appeared to be in the model home and was not what we had hoped for.

The craftsmanship was poor. There were gaps here and there. The molding looks terrible and has cracks in it. At one part of the house, you could take your had and the mold would come off. They didn't put enough glue on it. How hard is that to do? We also had big issues with the kitchen cabinets. They looked terrible. We made repeated calls to the dealership and Clayton wound up sending a guy from the factory out to finally straighten that after four months. Then, the doors weren't cleared. A couple were so far out of square, they had to take a cut. How hard is it to fit a square door in a hole? There is no reason for us to have these kinds of problems. Clayton Homes has no quality control whatsoever.

Some of the workmanship inside the home wasn't the greatest quality. I discovered some shingles in a couple of areas on the roof that are missing. I dealt with Clayton before and was very satisfied the first time that I had them 20 years ago. I bought again from the same dealership and was tickled to death this time. They were very helpful as far as showing us what they had available. What they had was more like a country style, and that's what we wanted, something to go on the farm here. It's very nice and luxurious. My wife loves it, so that's why I love it. Plus, the quality of the home is superior. The quality of stuff that they put in it was satisfactory and very well-built. Everything worked properly. You can tell that it's very well-put together. We had two little strips of molding that popped off, and we just put finishing nail and popped them right back on, and it has been that way since.

Clayton's customer service reps were also super. I had one issue and they got right on it and took care of it. Then, when they were moving the trailer for us, they had a flat tire blow out underneath as they were transporting it down the highway. It knocked some of the plumbing in the rear of the trailer. It took us a day or two to figure out what it was because we kept having an odor that would come up. We thought it was the lack of vents underneath the sink but after we pulled the plastic loose and looked in front of the insulation, it wasn't even leaking. It just came down enough that it was letting odor come out. They glued it right up, took care of it and no issues since. Overall, our experience with Clayton was top-notch.

My experience with Clayton was excellent. It was a cash purchase, so it was really easy. I stopped by and they had some promotions going on, which they always do, and we were able to make a deal on one of the homes that they had there on the lot. And before delivery, they had produced another brand-new one and did not give me the floor model. They gave me a brand-new one. They provided everything I was wanting. It had ceiling vents instead of floor vents for the AC and heat. The standard homes would usually have floor vents. The window spacing in it was exactly what I was looking for. The kitchen was set up like my wife was looking for. It was a second home for us, not our primary house, and it is on a little farm we have.

The team at Clayton was excellent. The manager came out and met me on site to discuss what I needed for my part of the prep for getting the home delivered and every time they set a schedule, they hit it dead on. They were never late and I never had to wait for them. It was absolutely a seamless transaction. Everything was handled well from their lady that met me in the store and did the actual closing on the deal to the title transfers. They even arranged for my insurance, so I can have insurance on the house. I compared it to my carrier from my other residence, but they could not compete with the price that Clayton was able to get me. Their crews did an excellent job of setup and I had no issues. As a matter of fact, Clayton had just called me to check on me to make sure we are still very happy, and it has been some time since we finalized the deal.

I was in the process of moving from Utah to South Carolina, and I was looking for a home. And so my daughter went and looked at these homes at Clayton, and they're all wonderful. And I've had wonderful experience with them. They've been so good to me, and my home is wonderful. The home buying process went very well. They have come and fixed things for me. When I got here, if I had concerns, I called them directly and we got answers immediately. As a matter of fact, I have a problem with the ceiling, and they came out the next day and fixed it. The quality of the home is wonderful. My brother was just here and he was very impressed with it. He thinks it was built so well. I've already recommended Clayton to my next-door neighbor.

Updated on 06/29/2019: Aside from their public reply to my review, I heard back from them once, on 4/23 asking if I prefer to be contacted by phone or by email. I responded within 24 hours on 4/24, and told them I prefer email as I don't tend to answer calls from numbers I don't recognize. Now, because the system has tagged it as waiting on the company (for over 60 days, btw), I can't respond or update that original review to reiterate that they've promised to contact me but haven't followed through. I mean, it's fine, I don't really expect anything from them (likely they'll apologize, but they know I'm unlikely to do business with them at this point), but if you tell someone you're going to do something, follow through.

Now let me add, follow through on promises made. "PUBLICcompany response 4/2/19 Thank you for bringing this to our attention, Katherine. We are looking into this matter and someone will be in touch with you shortly." I don't know about you but more than 2 months since last contact doesn't classify as "shortly" to me. Kudos, Clayton Homes for dropping that ball at both the local and the corporate level. :)

Original Review:I went to look at modular and manufactured homes with my husband recently in Delaware. We're going through a divorce but it's amicable so he was assisting me with looking at things and posing questions I maybe hadn't thought of. I gave the sales person my ideal expenditure of $100k, but I'll come away from this divorce with probably about $600k in assets (some of which is less liquid than others). I did not tell the sales rep this information, but I mention it here only because I was willing to spend more and dip more into my savings for the right thing, so the questions I was asking were not frivolous.

Betty was friendly but dodged the question about what makes manufactured versus modular homes different. All she said was that the roof line is different (i.e. the roof is steeper on a modular home than a manufactured home). There was no mention of differences in construction, foundation, or how long the home is expected to last. I figured I would do the research on my own as best I could, but that didn't leave me feeling great that she wasn't keen on giving me the information and letting me make up my own mind as an informed consumer.

I emailed her when I got home, and asked her if I could view a model I thought would be more suited to me that started at $150k. She emailed me back and called me by the wrong name. What makes this truly insulting is MY NAME IS MY EMAIL ADDRESS. Don't call me Pat if my name Kat is right there in the email address. It's insulting, and makes me feel like she either cares so little about paying attention to details that she doesn't care about my business, or maybe she's just so frazzled and busy, she just doesn't have the time to pay attention to these details.

This leaves me feeling uneasy, because when I have questions where the details and answers matter, I suspect she either won't answer them fully (see above where she didn't answer manufactured vs modular) or she'll give me the wrong info because she's not paying attention. To further compound this problem, when I sent her an email on March 19th asking a question about the cost differences between 2 particular models if they were built as modular vs manufactured I just never got a reply.

It's March 30th as I write this review, and I have checked my spam folder just to be sure. I don't expect same day or even next day replies, but letting a week and a half go by without an answer to a question tells me that you don't want my business. I know, because I have seen the corporate responses here on this website, that the corporation cares a great deal about their public image, so I'm sure I'll get some nice fluffy apology, but frankly at this point, I'm just not going to do business with a company that can't get my name right (again, it's my email address, this shouldn't be hard), answer my questions when I ask them, or reply to my emails inside of a week (if she went on vacation, I would have been ok with waiting longer, but an auto-responder needs to be in place so I don't feel like my money and I don't matter).

If the sales person, who is supposed to make you feel warm and fuzzy enough about the company to plunk down a couple hundred grand on the product can't make you feel good enough about spending that money, what kind of reassurance do I have that your warranty folks will follow through and stand behind their product?

Clayton Homes was across the street from Walmart in Tomball that we always shop at. The home buying process with them was simple. The salesman, Bernie, spent time with us. He explained how the home was built inside and out. He gave us a good deal. He promised everything that he said, it was set up when he said, and it was set the way we wanted it done. I complained of a faucet leaking, and he came out and repaired it with no problems. The quality of our home is excellent. I already recommended Clayton Homes.

I also talked to several people and some of them just didn’t know how to treat anybody, so I went back to Clayton. I picked out what I wanted to order, paid for it, and was gone. It was a simple home buying process for me. The actual delivery of the home took longer than I expected but there had been a lot of bad weather too. Nonetheless, I got a typical mobile home and the quality seems okay. I now got more rooms. Also, I put in a few good words and send people to Clayton Homes.

Then the delivery of the home went great. I had an issue about a week or so ago and so I went out and talked to them, and they took care of the problem. It was leaking and it took them a while to fix everything that we needed. Our roof started leaking and it came through the fire alarms. Then they sent so many guys out and then they had to reorder the parts. Then they ordered the wrong part, and they had to wait for the parts to come back in. Other than that, everything went pretty well and our salesman was really good.

Clayton Homes' application process went smoothly, and we found out we were approved relatively quickly. But there were some hiccups in the process. We were told of some extra on the loan in the form of a gift card in order to cover our washer and dryer. We were told we would receive it sooner than we actually did and that was a little annoying. Even so, Donna, the consultant from Clayton, was really cool. I had worked with her prior to her going to Clayton Homes. But she had quit prior to the home being delivered, so we kinda lost our point of contact there. But that was just a timing issue.

Also, Donna was knowledgeable about what was going on with the home as far as the different options that would have been available if we wanted to order anything. The whole team was really responsive to any questions we had even after she left. Overall, it was a great experience. I'd definitely tell others that Clayton Homes is a good option. We absolutely love our home from Clayton. We have more than enough cabinet space and the built-in entertainment seems great. I would definitely recommend not only our specific model but the Clayton Homes people because they were really responsive to any questions and any issues we've had since purchasing the home.

I had a disappointing experience with the Clayton dealership in Sulphur Springs. My daughter-in-law and son had bought a home from them and they had nothing but problems. I also had a problem while I was there and it ended up being a big mess. I couldn’t get anything to get anywhere. I had gone back to them right before I purchased the home and they strung me along for about two weeks. They tried to put me in something that I didn’t even want or like. They said, “Well, it's a home,” and I told them I'm not gonna pay for something I don’t want.

One day, I went into the dealership in Texarkana to see what they had. The salesman there said, “Oh, we can get you into this house for under $60,000, blah, blah, blah.” I said okay, then I left. I thought about it and said to myself, “I'm gonna call back and talk to the manager.” I called back and talked to Leon and he was absolutely the best thing that fell out of the sky that day. He was amazing. He said, “Come back up here. I'll walk you around. We'll find you something. We'll find you something you like.” We went back up there a few weeks later. We were walking around and I saw the trailer that I had seen at the Sulphur Springs dealership. I loved that trailer -- the layout, look, and everything. I said that I love that one, but I also said that their salesman already told me they can't do that one. He asked, “Why not,” and I said that I didn’t know.

We started talking and he asked how I was gonna do it. I said that I was gonna pay cash and he said, “Well, it's that much big difference.” Nobody else had let me get me that far. He said that they could do it and that he could get me a discount. We ended up doing the paperwork. We got it done and cut in the check. Not even three weeks later, they were bringing my house out and it was amazing from the beginning until the end that I got the one I wanted. I got the one that I was in love with and I got to deal with somebody like him and got to meet him. I feel blessed because he was absolutely the best, the sweetest person I've ever met.

I've given great reviews to Clayton in Texarkana because of the fact Leon went above and beyond. As a salesman or as a dealership manager, he didn’t even have to get involved and he didn’t even have to do anything. He could have just let it go. He was so pleasant and so nice to deal with. He was an awesome person. The guys in the office were really sweet and very helpful, and always wanting to know how things are going. I would really love to nominate Leon or whatever I'll have to do to get him some recognition for the work that he has done. I called with a complaint and he was on it. The stove was messed up and he was on it. He has been fantastic and I really would like to see him get the recognition he deserves.

I picked the home up straight off the lot. There were some things that were different, like the refrigerator, that were different from what I had picked out. I didn’t choose any colors, flooring, and carpet. I fell in love with the house just as it was set up. It had a very rustic farmhouse style to it. It was called the Anniversary, but they changed the name of it now to the Farmhouse. It had the farmhouse sink and a lot of cute little neat stuff. However, we had a little bad problem with the snow. We had a guy come out and tell us, “Oh, it's this. Oh, it's that,” and supposedly fixed it, but not even two weeks later, we had somebody else come back out to do the same thing again. After about three times, we finally got one and so far, it has not messed up since we got it replaced. They brought us a different unit all together and it has been fine ever since. There have been no problems, no issues.

The dishwasher is still messed up, though. It will not do the heated dry cycle at all and it is getting to where it is not washing really good. I'm gonna give Leon a call and see if he can send someone out. He is very good about getting on the problem and getting it solved, and that is what I liked. He is a man of action and when he finds out there is something wrong, he takes care of it. He is amazing. I feel blessed from the moment I walked in the door and talked to him until now. I feel lucky because I had a great salesman. If I hadn't dealt with him, I wouldn’t have the house right now.

I love the house overall, although there were just a couple of things. We've had some appliance issues with the stove and we had one with the refrigerator freezing up on the inside and not doing what it was supposed to do. But other than the appliances, I'm totally happy with this house and I couldn’t be happier. We got an extended warranty and mine is around eight years. It covers everything, so we are pretty set on that and I'm glad I did it because, with the stove issues, you never know. Just because you buy something new doesn’t mean it might not be defective.

The hooked up the main and blew the 200 amp breaker they wanted me to buy another one.

The second plobem we had was the time frame of home beinging delivered. We picked out the home in at or about June 2017 never moved in till January of 2018 !!!! Should of had a house built. Had a hard time getting someone to come out to fix a few things in the home. Now when the ceiling shows a crack on where the 2 halfs were put together i called 4 days ago and still no call back. Bad customer service!!!!. I feel its like once it was all done and papers signed everyone got there money its my problem now. We paid good money for our new home. I happened to look online at the Waco store and I went over there and I was really impressed with the service that they were providing there. The application process was super easy. I told Clayton Homes what we were looking for which was very broad. We had no idea and they showed us all the different homes. We didn’t see one that did the lot and get what we wanted but the rep suggested building one and that's what we did.

We had an upgraded tub, a patio door and better plumbing hardware put in. I also had vinyl floors put in which my girl loves. She also loves the cabinets as well as the tub in the master bedroom that we upgraded to. I’m 100% satisfied with the quality of this home. The Clayton Homes rep should’ve communicated a bit better with me. I had my bathroom customized and I like it but there are some things that needed to be fixed like cracks and grout. Plus, I still have a lengthy list of things that need to be addressed and it seems to be an extremely slow process. I went extended periods of time in which Clayton would tell me that they would be back and fix the issues but then I had to follow up with them and say that it is still not fixed and then they would say they will send somebody out. When they came out, they had no clue as to what was going on and I had to show them everything again. Then they would say that parts are needed and then they would never get the parts.

I’m almost a year from moving into here and I still have a ton of stuff that have not been done. It has been very frustrating. We had some big issues to begin with and finally got those resolved but now, when it comes to the interior cosmetics, it's still lagging. Clayton sent somebody out Monday and the gentleman said that there were three things he came to do. I showed him the list which I turned in before he even came out here but that was the first time he saw it. It is this kind of stuff that keeps going on.

    Original Review: March 23, 2019

After looking at a brand new trailer I decided I wanted to purchase it from Freedom Homes in Gallia Ohio. Got final papers signed and ready to be delivered. Upon the guys coming out to look at the land, they finally found a different spot for my desired location. Of course after complaining to my neighbors about how it's impossible to fit (14x66 ft trailer) because of electrical lines. They got the footers in and I was told they were going to trench it out a little bit to help keep water out from under it. That did not happen. I didn't even get a call or anything to let me know it had actually been delivered. I found out because my mom called me and told me she had just passed it.

So I went out. First thing I see is two big holes in the side of it. Trim messed up and Lord behold water inching closer to the home. I haven't had flooding problems until they "fixed" my land. I have videos of water setting about 2/3 inches up on the trailer. Which I had to deal with because they would not. Eventually got them to put a culvert in after a few months of it setting like that. While in the office I was informed that they felt like it flooded before then did anything, again I have photos of it, few days before they started footers, of me mowing it. After about seven months of making payments I finally got the keys to it. Cabinet doors are all crooked there is gaps under the doors beneath the sink.

Parts of the walls isn't even touching the flooring. The trim is popping off. The heat vents, some are crooked and the master bedroom bathroom the vent won't even open up. In the utility room where the dryer sets you can physically see the wall is curved in towards the back wall. The door knobs do not work as they should. Backdoor I can't even use because unless you have someone there to help you, you can't get it to shut properly. The front door you have to shut harder than you should just to get it to close.

The manager himself told me it needed leveled out when he saw the doors closes and opens themselves if you don't have it latched. The drywall in the closets is busted and small pieces is missing out of it. Where the furnace sets you can see nothing is squared so that doesn't even shut right. The cocking in for the bathtub is already broken loose when we were doing final inspection. There is a hairline crack in the ceiling of the living room where the peak is. I showed Freedom Homes about 50 different photos of things that needed fixed.

Almost two weeks never heard anything about it. I have a meeting with the vice president of Clayton Homes Monday. And to top all of this off, the septic tank was hooked up backwards. They had the outlet hooked up to the sewage lines coming from the trailer and just nothing on the other side. I've been patient with them and have gotten nothing done. The only way to get them to get their butt in gas to go in there and lose it. Also, I paid them 1800$ for utility hook ups in October, I had to call them this month to even see if they were done finally.

Every time I go in there it's always "I was just about to call you." Funny thing is I have rarely gotten a call from them. If possible I'd rather just wash my hands off all of it get all my money I have paid and they can have the ** trailer back. One last thing I was told if it didn't look worse than the display model they don't have to fix it. The whole company is a joke and a waste of time.

When I decided to go with Clayton, the reason was their price. I wasn't too happy with my experience with their home consultant but I can't complain about it because I imagine that all of them has problems. The house is a rental but I haven't had any complaints from my tenant about anything. I'm satisfied with the utility bills I'm getting with it. Other than that, I would go back with them if I will buy another one.

With Clayton Homes, we could get the plan and the layout that we wanted and it was reasonable. We had good communication with their home consultant and it was a pleasant experience. The application process was easy and we were able to move in after three months. Before we moved in, we revised the plan a little bit. We had the bathroom customized a little more to our taste and we had more of an energy-efficient package as far as installation and walls. We had them improved. Our home looks like it's very well built and of good quality.

I bought a New 70th Anniversary Model in March of 2016. I had a recent surgery and was in a wheelchair. The moment I could stand up I started calling about a number of things and was told someone would be out, well they never made it out until 02/12/2019. I have since found that none of the 8 roof vents have Ever been sealed. Clayton will not fix it and Home1st which is owned by Clayton stated that "even if the manufacturer did not seal the vents the repair would not be covered as it is considered "consequential damage."

There are huge moisture issues and it was recommended that I leave my closet doors open. I have soft spots in my floors and when I turn off the bathroom light I can see my closet light through the gap in the wall. It looks like I will have to sue as Vanderbilt another Clayton family thief back them and the three companies stand as a united front and have no problem crippling people. The sales rep even came to my home after my surgery under the guise of doing one thing but has no integrity as it seems that is a job qualification for their employees.

Updated on 06/28/2019: It's been months since we started our dissatisfaction with Clayton Homes dba LUV Homes. We've written our complaints and nothing is resolved! We are approaching a year since we purchased and received a DAMAGED Home. We've been patient with everyone, contractors included. It's been 6 weeks with NO movement in our home. Depressing to go there every day and see nothing being done. There painting inside and out that needs to be done. We're watching trash pile up outside and grass growing on piles of dirt that needs to be spread. We're at the point where we don't even want it anymore. They are leaving us no option but to only seek professional assistance.

It's been a long stressful road for me and my family. We have furniture, clothing everything we own in storage. We've come out of pocket with funds we were not expecting due to contractors excuses why something wasn't included. Will have to start paying insurance on a home we don't even live in. We were assigned a new sales rep. He came in assuring us this would be resolved. He's working with contractors that are not doing what they are getting paid to do. No one should have to go through this, we were told it would only take a couple months. Then we walk into a damaged home, along with promises, not seeing a light at the end of this mess. Stressed! Kenneth and Penny **. St. Amant, LA.

Original Review: We live in St. Amant, Louisiana. Signed papers in August 2018 for our home. Due to rain it has taken longer than we expected; we were OK with that until our home was delivered with Damage to Kitchen area. Ceiling had caved in over the island. We have been told the damage happened on the Lot located in Prairieville, LA. I first walk into our home, which was still and is presently still under construction was a disaster. Insulation all over the kitchen floor wet and dry.

(We do have pictures of everything going on still). This has been one long stressful ride for us. Would never go this route and sorry wouldn't and can't recommend to anyone. We struggle with excuses on what's going on. We are 6 months into this and I don't see a good light yet.

Everything was nice and we were also greeted when we walked in the door. The salesperson was good. He went through the paperwork, got us approved and moved into our house. The application process wasn't difficult at all. We just got the home as is, and it was beautiful. I love the quality of my home and everything about it. Everybody at Clayton Homes was very helpful and nice. My home was delivered on the 19th of June. I liked it but there were a few little things that needed fixing. There's a lot of sawdust that comes out through the vents when the furnace is on. The other day when I was cooking, I turned the fan on and my stove got full of sawdust. They were all over my food too and I had to stop that. I had to turn the fan off and throw my uncovered food away. Also, that little part where the light goes got so full of sawdust. I had to take that apart and clean it out. I had company yesterday, and my brother asked me how come there was so much sawdust all over the floor in the guest bathroom, and I had just cleaned it.

The guy who was here the last time to fix some of the broken trims also saw my problem with the vents. I noticed that in the closet in the master bedroom, there's one trim above the door that's missing, so I have to call him back before he comes up again. Behind the refrigerator, the wall is kind of messed up too, and my linoleum floor is torn under the stove. Also, the roof is too short and they didn’t leave an overhang on it. We get a lot of snow over here where I live, and the snow comes and drips on my wall and against my windows. I don't like that. Nevertheless, I've enjoyed my home very much. Whenever I find something that I'm not satisfied with, I let them know, and this guy that has been coming out to replace all these broken things has been very nice about it too. Overall, the people at Clayton have been treating me very well.

I drove by Clayton Homes and I really liked the ones I saw. The purchasing process for the house went well. However, the workmanship was shoddy. The baseboard in the living room has about a quarter of an inch separation. The hood over the stove has all kind of junk along the edge inside where it wasn’t cleaned out or finished off. One piece of wood on the side of the hood is loose. The back screen won't lock and it has not worked since I'd gotten the house. And the kitchen sink is fading. I called Clayton and they haven't returned my call.

Furthermore, I have a problem with the floor. When I ordered the house, I ordered plank flooring and I got linoleum which is crappy. There are also pieces pulling up on the floor all over. Clayton guys came out, looked at it and said that it’s just how it is and that there's nothing that they can do. If I fall on it, there will be a lawsuit because I'm 77. I don’t need a floor that’s pulling up. I've told their rep that many times. In fact, I've been trying for almost seven months now and they're doing nothing. I was thinking about suing them because the work is just not done yet and I've been in since the end of August.

When we applied, we were in touch with Clayton for no more than a couple of months and their people were there from beginning to end, backing us up and helping in every way they could. The transition went smoothly as we were under a really tight deadline trying to move from one county to the next before school started. They took a large stress and weight off of our shoulders trying to get everything lined up. They took care of everything. The process was a lot easier and it did not take long at all. We had a top-notch home consultant who was amazing too. When I bought a brick and mortar home back in the early 1990s, it seemed like that process was a lot more red tape to jump through. We had a really good experience with Clayton Homes and we’ve already recommended them a couple of times to a couple of friends of ours.

I never do reviews but I feel this one needs to be done because I've heard so much negativity about Clayton and manufactured homes in general. First let's go over the positive. Lovely home at a good price. We have the Zeus, it's a big home, well insulated and structurally sound. Customer service has been pretty good. Bob, and Jeremy at Chester Clayton have been good to my family, and continue to address issues as they come up. Our winter electric bills have been 150, which is great because temperatures have been freezing outside here in Virginia. Most of the repairs that needed to be done have been minor, and all have been addressed in a timely fashion, and the repairs that have not been done I know why and am kept in the loop.

Now the things I'm not too happy about. We closed in July on a home and property package, put a lot of money down and did everything that was asked of us right away. Yet we could not move in till the end of December. Partially because of the weather, but things could have been done faster if all parties were kept in the loop, a lot of times I felt as if we were never going to get in which is terrible when you put so much money forward at the start. The land we had to purchase in order to get the lot model we wanted, I'm very disappointed in. The ground was not graded well, I was given a very tiny amount of backyard that's not completely overgrown.

I wish some of the trees that are close to the house had been cut and disposed of. A few of the ones they did cut were left very close to the house, to where you can see them right out of the window. The little bit of backyard I do have is completely uneven. To the point where puddles pool everywhere, and Must be graded again in order to make it nice and plant good grass. I was told this is my responsibility now and they would not send anybody to fix the backyard. The front yard is a mess as well, but hopefully this will be fixed in the future by Clayton. Also the driveway was not big enough to park 2 cars and turn around. Forcing you to back all the way out of the long driveway, which has turns.

All in all I would say my experience has been good, the home is nice. We are happy with it. My only complaint really is the backyard. I would say to anyone looking for a nice home at a good price, this is the way to go, just be calm and patient, keep track of all the stages in the buying and building process, and make sure you have expectations that can be met by Clayton before you buy. I would recommend them to my friends and family.

The people at Clayton Homes told me to look around after I got there and I saw what I wanted, and we worked out a deal. Everything went smoothly. Their delivery times were what they said it would be. Everything went good. After it was set up, there was a couple of little things that needed to be readjusted. But they’ve taken care of what I want them to take care of, and then the few things that need to be still take care of, I’ve talked to them about and we’re waiting till the weather breaks to get that taken care of. But everything that needed attention and I wanted to be taken care of, they took care of.

Most of the time when I call, they’re available and I get to talk to them right then. But sometimes, if I leave a message, it doesn’t take them long and I normally hear back from them within 24 hours. But as far as taking care of the issue, we schedule it in around my schedule. So, I’ve never been dissatisfied with what we set up. Their customer service seems to be okay. I would buy from Clayton Homes again, and I would recommend them.

I went to Atlantis company first and they showed me a Clayton home. Then I went over to Clayton and they were very helpful. They had good customer service. I was kinda on the fence of getting the home, and then the mortgage company worked with me with a better down payment option, so went ahead with them. I liked the model from Clayton, so I didn’t do a lot of customization. It’s a single-wide, and it’s a good fit because it’s only me. It already had crown molding, and a built-in entertainment center. It also has a big kitchen, which was the reason I picked the house.

The people at Clayton Homes were all great. They were on top of everything. They didn’t forget about me when it came to the home process. They kept me updated on everything. So, I didn’t really have to hunt people down to figure out what was going on. The quality of the build is really good. I just have one issue with my second bathroom. There’s like yellow water staining that keeps happening. And they came by and tried to figure out what’s going on. But it’s still there. But overall, Clayton Homes is a good company. They did a really good job, and my house came in one month early. I’d recommend them. They are a good place for people that are trying to look for their first home.

And so, we stopped, and everybody at Clayton Homes was really nice. They showed us this little house and we didn’t decide right away to get it. We went back a few weeks later and we looked through it again. My mother thought it would be something that would be pleasant to live in and everything was easy to get to. She's an elderly lady and she liked the little kitchen, the way it was laid out, and the living room, and the bathroom. It has two baths and two bedrooms. My mother decided to buy it so we went back and talked to them again, and everything went well.

Their reps answered our questions and they were very pleasant. They didn’t try to push us into anything that was more expensive. They were very, very helpful, polite and very nice. We told them what we were looking for and they gave us the information about house. They got everything set up and the maintenance guy that came down to check everything out was very good too. We told him that we had found a couple of little things, nothing serious, and he corrected them. There was a trim on the inside that had come loose and he fixed it. He was really nice and we really liked him. Clayton Homes did a good job and we were very pleased with them. I'd recommend them.

I'm very satisfied with the home-buying process at Clayton Homes. The application took two days to get approved. It was a beautiful build, but they need to put the hot water heater more to the level of the house. Our consultant, Chris, was a gentleman. He called us several times to make sure everything was all right. Then anything that wasn't all right, they were there immediately to fix it. He was a hundred percent knowledgeable and thoroughly explained all aspects of the home purchase to us. Working with Clayton Homes reduced our electric bill. Last year in our other home, previous to July when we moved in, we spent $1,400 plus in one year on propane. This year, our electric bill is down a third from what it was, and we don't even use propane anymore. I'm well satisfied, and I'd recommend their people in Rogersville to anybody.

My experience with Clayton Homes went well. When we went in, the people were very friendly. They talked us through everything and helped us really decide what we wanted. Eric, the person that I directly worked with, was very friendly and he did a very good job. The build was of very good quality. However, I noticed that our shower had a hairline crack in it. We didn’t notice it for the longest time so we didn’t know if there was any possible damage underneath it or if any water has leaked in there. I have reached out to Clayton and we're going through the process. I'm still waiting to get in contact back with somebody about it. There were things that came up throughout the process but everything was resolved. I was able to talk with people and overall, it ran smoothly. Everything was very good and done well, so I'm very pleased.

About 10 years ago, my mom bought a Clayton and she really recommended it. She wanted us to buy a Clayton. We also looked into Palm Harbor but they didn't take us very seriously when we said we wanted to buy a house. I was 19 at the time when we built our house. Most people would get laughed at or not taken seriously at all. But Lenny and Britney, the people we worked with, really took us very seriously and we really appreciated that. We also had an issue with our mortgage. We ended up getting shorted on what we needed. They worked with us to make sure we got the house and kinda postponed everything for a few months until we came up with all the cash to make up the difference. They were nice people to work with.

On Clayton's end, the application process was very easy and simple. It didn't take long at all - maybe an hour. But with Vanderbilt, it took a lot longer than it should have been so the experience was not as good as the home-buying process. That wasn't Clayton's fault, though. Clayton was very clear about the aspects of the home buying process. My dad used to be a realtor and he knew pretty much about everything that Clayton was telling us. There wasn't anything that wasn't said. Working with Clayton was very simple. I'm satisfied

Clayton was very professional and courteous during the home buying process. There was no application process when I bought the house. I walked up on a yard, found the house I wanted and made a deal that minute. I paid cash for it outright. Ron was my consultant and he went out of his way. He was an excellent salesman and was very personable. I was on a time-crunch to get in the house because I had sold my home. I was living in an RV and Clayton knew when I called from my home. They went over and above working with the vendors and the contractors to get my land ready. They minimized me living in an RV for three days, from putting it onsite to being able to get it ready so I could move in and sleep in my new home.

But there could be some improvements on the home such as the door construction, the locking mechanism and the reseal. I ended up having to change the locking mechanisms. They changed them for me. It's just that the quality of the product is not that good. Also, my rear door has glass installed in it and I love that. But most home-built homes have blinds inside so you can kill the light and people can't look in. Clayton Homes doesn't offer that. I put blinds on it to begin with. But I open the door and the blinds blow up in the air. I ended up buying in a place on the internet that sells that addition. It's okay now but Clayton Homes should make it an option that people could pay for.

There were a lot of upgrades I didn't buy because the one I wanted was on display. I would've liked to be able to upgrade to that but I understand the home was already built so if I want an upgrade, I'd be doing it myself. Other than those, working with Clayton improved my life. I was reluctant in the very beginning because I was comfortable in my home, but they made it a pleasant experience. I would recommend them to anybody.

It took Clayton a while to get the trailer there, but it wasn't their fault because we had a lot of rain for a while. When they delivered it, we had some problems with some of the electric fixtures that they didn't include. Also, the plumbing from the fixtures on the sinks was squeaking whenever you turned the thing on. We told them about the problem and they said they had to order some parts. We assumed that they were waiting for the parts to come but it was too long. But we were still pleased with their service. When they came, they fixed it. We're still making discoveries about our home, but we're pleased. I would recommend Clayton Homes to somebody else.

I purchased my singlewide from Clayton Homes in Louisville, Ky. First, I have no complaint about the dealership. Customer service was fine, and my purchase went smoothly, and I was able to move into home within a few weeks after closing. After moving in however, I found the workmanship inside the home to be very poor. Out of square walls and doorways, and no insulation around front or back doors. A contractor sent out to fix a drywall problem around the front door trim, wasn't the sharpest tool in the shed. I ended up removing the trim around the doors, and spraying foam insulation in myself. I could actually see daylight around door frame before spraying in foam, which expanded to the outside.

The linoleum in the kitchen has already started to bubble up, which I've had to glue down. The factory overused Brad nails because of out of square walls and misaligned framing and studs. I've had to repair kitchen drawers because the slides came loose, and had missing screws. When I installed window blinds, I discovered there's an empty cavity around window frame were there should be insulation. I don't know how to fix that, without removing and replacing the drywall. There are other little things wrong too, which I'm not going into. Honestly, if high school students had did the work, they would have got at most, a C- grade.

Clayton Homes had the house that we were looking for. The application process was fairly simple and the total process took a couple of weeks. The underwriting and getting the total approval took less than a month. We worked with Bill and he was very personable, friendly and knowledgeable. The buying process was okay, except towards the end. We closed on our house last May and we are now just getting into it. We did not push Clayton to get the septic tank and water done. The septic was the last thing that they got done - this was last Thursday.

When we got our land, somebody should've gone out there with us to look at the land because we needed septic, water, and electricity. But nobody went out there with us so they ended up closing on the house, and it wasn't until afterwards that we found out that electricity couldn't be put out there for three months. It was just they were that backed up.

Another thing was when we turned on the water, there were two leaves coming out underneath the bathtub, out of the wall, and also out of the wall behind in the laundry room. I had to take all those panels off and tried to fix that. This happened Saturday night so I'm going to Clayton in person to talk to them today. Clayton got us into a new home and our land so we're happy about that. But it was a very hard process to get to that point. Overall I wasn't very pleased with my experience. We closed 10 months ago and it took us that long to get into the house. It seemed like everything was a hassle.

My daughter took us down to Clayton Homes because she has seen the mobile home while taking a walk and she thought we could get something like that. It had four bedrooms but for some reason, Clayton didn’t want us having that. They took us over to their office. Marty is the manager of the place. He told Anthony to take us to the house. Anthony was very nice to us. He treated us with respect all the time that we were up there. But Marty was the one who has been wanting us to get the house.

I felt like I had to get that house because I knew how much money we had. We had $97,000 from our insurance and the house cost $70,000. That’s a lot considering my bathroom and closet, which is really stupid. And the other two bedrooms, they had regular closets and all that. But in mine, I didn’t. They also had a big, long, house but just the size of the first one. They said we couldn’t have the bigger size because there was water that came down underneath the house. The house department said there had to be little or no water. The concrete had to be torn up because there’s slab underneath of it. We had to get a little well water which I really didn’t like.

This was in February and it was cold. I wasn't paying any attention to it and I fell going up the steps. I also didn’t look at the drawers because I thought it would be better than what my house was before. I had my house 20 years back. It was perfect. But when I got in the new house to look in the kitchen and in the bathroom, it does not have a shelf where I can put anything in it. We had to buy that kind of stuff. The house is completely empty. I told Clayton Homes about it and they said that’s just the way it was. And then the worst part is, I went in to find out my closet is in the bathroom, which is really stupid. I also didn’t have a faucet outside of the house.

I was very aggravated with it. I asked Marty why did he send us to a place like that when he knew we had plenty of money that we could’ve bought something different? It’s not that we necessarily need a bigger house. The house is okay in size and it’s meant for us. But if it had all that stuff, I’d be satisfied. I’ve also got mud all winter long to walk through. There was no grass and that’s what really irritated me too. I know it cost maybe $5,000 to move our great, big barn house because it was like the size of what we got now. They had to tear up all that concrete which might have cost about $3,000. So that's $8,000. I don’t know what they paid to the people to come and build this little porch in the backyard to go down instead of a deck. And I don’t know what they paid the people to plant grass but we don’t have grass.

They were supposed to put grass in the front yard but they didn’t. There have been turnips in the front by the house, and other kinds of fruit we haven’t dug up yet. I noticed that they act like they’re gonna put a deck out there because they put three steps. I tore down the steps because I told them I wanted a ramp since I had my knee replacements and I can hardly walk the steps. I haven’t gone up there and complained to them because it makes me so upset.

When I called one time, they had a radio station on saying they just had a sale. And I was sort of joking around for a minute. I said that maybe I ought to come up there and put a big sign saying, "Don’t buy Clayton Homes because they lie to you." About two days later, the guy went ahead and got a faucet on the back of our house. But I have told everybody that I don't trust Clayton Homes.

Clayton Homes had reasonable pricing and they were really nice to let us walk around and look in there and check the homes out. They also had a really good website for the 3-D walkthrough ability to do that and I saw how everything was gonna look like. That was pretty neat. We had must-haves on our little list of things that we knew we had to have in the house, like the walk-in shower and the garden tub, and to have a walk-in closet and a kitchen island. The model that Clayton have just seemed to fit all of our needs.

We've been living in the home since November and the build it good but there were little easy fixes needed. For example, it looked like they used a nail gun for the trimmer on the doors, and they have driven the nail too far in there. So, the trim sometimes hops off the wall kinda easily. Other than that, there aren't anything wrong. Clayton seems pretty easy to get a hold of if we need help.

I just wish they used better third party contractors. It took us several times to get past inspection because of the things the contractors did.

The home consultant who walked us through everything was absolutely fantastic. We would text back and forth, and he made it as convenient as possible for me to contact them about the whole process because I work a lot.
