I looked all over Phoenix and Clayton Homes told me they could get the home to me in my time frame. They also looked like they had the style of home that I was looking for and they weren’t also quite as high-end as some of the other home manufacturers. They did really well. However, the timeframe was a little behind time. But that was more of the workers' fault and everything kinda bunched up on them. They had originally told me we could get in the end of May, or early June, but we weren’t in until August. But the quality of the home is great. They’ve also done everything to help and they’ve taken care of all of my issues. I got the three-bedroom with the den option and I love that. That’s great.

The home came from Clayton but I dealt with the person from Oakwood. The process as far as filling out the application with Oakwood and Vanderbilt and being able to get approved was all fair. It was explained because we even had an attorney come and go over the paperwork and made sure that I understood it and we signed it. I would have negotiated on the price a little bit more for the amount that was deposited. I had to keep the insurance and I didn't find any provider. That made me pay at least $700 a month. If I could change that, I would go back to $500 something a month. Then I had some stuff that was lacking. My countertop wasn’t glued and it started rising and I also had some panels that were not screwed or nailed. But they sent a guy out to complete it and he did a very fair job. Everything is holding up pretty well. I like the floor plan. It's built pretty sturdily and not that cheap board.

So far, my experience with Clayton Homes has been really good. After doing some research, I have seen that they were rated pretty well. It seems like everybody was happy with the services. The process worked out really well and everything's been good with the rep. I got a couple of things I gotta get fixed yet but all in all, it's been a really good process. I'm very satisfied.

I like the price of Clayton Homes. Working with them has been absolutely great. The quality of the homes is pretty good. A few issues when it was delivered, but it cleared up. So, no issues anymore. The process of purchasing was very short, three weeks until it was delivered.

I was looking for a house for months and I was treated badly by some people. They were a little bit racist because my wife's not from this country. Clayton had no problem with that. I went down there very first day and at the very first house we walked into, I said that was it but I didn't wanna rush so I said we would check all of the other ones on the lot. Jeremy, the rep, didn't get mad and told me to take my time, look around and get a feel for it. He kept making us laugh the whole time and he didn’t get mad when I wanted him to go back and check the same house six times. We searched through every house and I ended up getting the first one we walked into.
My parents and I parted off the property and put a house up there. I live next to them. I like the color scheme and the little windows at the top in the living room that let in even more light. So I'd only have to use electric half the time because I've got the sunlight coming in. I also like the big bathtub, which is just a regular bathtub, but I'm a big guy and I can fit. Clayton did a great job and they even sent us cookies afterwards. I like them so much.
Shawn, thank you for reaching out and sharing your feedback regarding your home buying experience! We want each and every customer who walks through our doors to feel like family. I’ve known where the lot was. So, when I wanted a trailer, I just went to the lot. Clayton was very nice every time I had to deal with them and were very helpful. Their rep was always ready to help me with anything, answered all my questions, and was always very polite. They had to find a trailer that would fit on my lot and one that I liked, which all in all took a couple of months. I like the trailer. I would recommend Clayton to anybody.

After all the homes we looked into, we just liked the way Clayton Homes was built and the floor plan too. I liked the upflow air on it, the big closet and the large pantry. The second larger bedroom, which is my son's, has a huge walk-in closet. It was like every time we went in somewhere else, they were all tiny. For us, storage is a big thing. The quality is just solid. From the moment I was even dealing with the sales lady, I told her when I walked in, it just felt like home. The rep was the best. I loved her. She was very personable and she didn’t hide anything. She didn’t sugarcoat anything, but she was very upfront. She gave me her cell and was like, “Don’t hesitate to call any time.” We even got on a textmate, I could shoot her a text real fast and didn’t have to stop and wait forever to get her on the phone, and she would shoot me a text back if I had a question about something. She was just easy to work with.

Very friendly. They did try to fix my front door 3 times and then gave up. It will freeze ice on the inside in cold weather. I have had trailer 4 years now and I have also had a kitchen sink start leaking twice and a toilet that constantly runs. Called and asked if they could have their maintenance guy fix these things on the side since (I'm a single mom and have no one and didn't know who to trust) after hours and no one called me back after telling me 4 times they would.

We started the buying process in October, 2019. We selected a home, received pre-approval for the home, chose the land, put down a down payment. Closed on the home/land on 1/31/2020. Site contractor started clearing the land. Have not heard from Sale Person at all. My fiance contacted the Sales Person to be told our home was just getting ordered and it would be summer before our home would be completed. How do you close on a home and then not have a definite timing of when you will be able to move? We weren't provided with any type of timeline as far as what to expect. The exterior colors and the interior information was provided back in November/December time frame. The sales person makes us feel like we are bothering him whenever we start asking questions and all we get are vague answers.
The mortgage company had our original mortgage due date set for March 1st, 2020. They know more of what's going on because they called to let me know that the first mortgage wouldn't be due until April 1st, 2020. I called them to find out if they had any information however, they didn't have any details to provide either. At this point I don't know who to talk with or if anyone will provide factual information with specific dates. There's a lot of other things that need to happen and we need dates and deadlines. My lease is almost up and I'm going to have to do a month to month because we don't have any dates. I'm not even sure if they are going to require me to start making mortgage payments on April 1st and not have the home to live in. Any assistance with getting factual information would be greatly appreciated.
Wendy, thanks for reaching out. We apologize that you have had some issues regarding your move in date and timelines. We are looking into this concern for you, and looping in the appropriate parties. We appreciate your patience.

We were given a run around. First we qualified for a home land package. Come to find there is no land for a trailer so then we went for a trailer. So we found a park to put it in then they needed to call the park to verify. They couldn't get ahold of the park so we found another one. They said we couldn't afford it so I asked for my refund. Now I'm getting run around about that one time. It is this day now it's another. They are fast about taking your money but slow as hell to return. I would not recommend this place to anyone.

A friend told me about mobile homes, and then I went over them and just saw Clayton Homes and talked to the guy. Everybody was great. They helped me out a lot. It took me a month or two to get my home because of getting the financing issues in order but Clayton was all on top of whatever they needed to do. We've had leaks in the roof and a couple of plumbing pipes or something wasn’t right, but they were all just minor stuff and they fixed them. We worked through all of the issues. I would recommend Clayton to another friend. If I buy another mobile home, it will probably be with them.

I was pregnant and had to get a house. I was given the opportunity to purchase some land that was right next to my mom. I looked everywhere for a home. And finally, I went to Clayton Homes. They were really nice. I found one that I just loved and they gave me a 7-year warranty. That was good for me, with it being my first home. I love the home. It’s nice and new. I’m very picky, so it was good to find something I really enjoyed. I don't have any complaints about it. The space is used well, considering that with a trailer, you have to be very conscious of how you use the space inside of it so that there’s no wasted footage. The rep was very helpful and nice too. I’m not the easiest customer and he was polite and affable throughout the entire experience, even though I know I can be difficult at times.

Originally, I was buying my home from Crossland but the guy that was working for Crossland transferred to Clayton Homes so I wound up at Clayton Homes. He was good. He had patience. Everything turned out okay. But the carpet was low-grade. The spots are missing out of the carpet. When you come in, the floor was supposed to be carpet. But they linoleumed the whole living room. I also didn't get any furniture. I guess that’s because of the price they gave me. The countertop is cheap. It’s like wood with laminate on top.

A friend of mine had told me about Clayton Homes so I went with them and James was great. He was right on point about everything and explained everything about what the process would be to me. He took me through all the homes to make sure that I picked out exactly what I wanted. In my new home, I really like my bathroom, the kitchen, and the master suite bedroom. I like the layout as well as the color of the walls. I also have dark wood around the outside that I really like. Everything looks great and I’m happy with the whole home. So, I have recommended Clayton to 2 of my family members already and I told them that they are good. They would help through the whole process step-by-step, from finding out what you want, the layout of what you want, and straight on through the whole process of getting you approved and sending you to a loan owner.

Clayton Homes is pretty much the big home manufacturer in our area. Our final purchase was made with LUV Homes. It was probably the most convenient in the area. The home buying process went smoothly. Nathan, the home consultant, was a little scatterbrained, a little busy during that time, but he was a big help. He completely answered all the questions and quickly. He was very thorough. Working with Clayton changed our lives for the better and we love our new home. I've been pleased with everything about the house except the plumbing. We’ve had a lot of issues with water leak since we’ve been in the home. But everything else has been fine. They get the service out either usually that day, or the day thereafter. They’re pretty quick.

Whoever answered the phone would tell him that I called, and he would call back immediately as soon as he got back in the office. So, I could always get in contact with him. I purchased my home in May 2018 and have had nothing but issues with it. When I received it there was paper taped over a hole in the countertop. Which are just vinyl adhesive heated onto plywood. Someone was sent out to fix this. Now less than a year later the covering is once again separating from the plywood. The floors had bubbles throughout and when you vacuum the covering lifts up, you can actually see the dirt bouncing around the floor. There are a number of areas that have leaked. During the first year they sent someone out to patch the problem however; it seems there is no end! I did not notice it until after my 1 Year was up but somehow there is a leak beside/around the ac/heat unit which also leaks into the back part of my pantry.
Noted it when I pulled everything out to do my annual deep clean. I also clean behind the stove and fridge every six months or so and found shoddy work on the flooring. The siding looks like crap! They said it’s because of the high winds in Oklahoma. Maybe they shouldn’t sell these homes in windy states! They use cheap materials and expect it to hold up! The wall plugs pull out as they just sit in a hole, there is nothing to secure them. I hung Christmas cards with clear tape and when I took them down the covering came off of the built in bookshelf! I have learned a valuable lesson but it has certainly been a costly one! Please for your own sake avoid the purchase of one of these albatrosses!

This is the first time to live in a trailer and I love the home. But, we had so much trouble with it. We cannot seem to Clayton Homes do anything to it okay. Our front door will not stay open unless we prop it open. And then the backdoor does not fit back in the jamb right. I hope if it is locked that you cannot tell from that because you do not see it from the outside. And then as you go down the hall, the drywall stuff is coming off the walls and falling on the floor. The butt joint, where you put two sheetrocks together, is bad. Then, in the kitchen cabinet, one door propped open and it almost fell clear out. It won't close where I put the silverware in. The same is the case with the drawer in the bathroom. We keep telling them about it and they listen to what we tell them and then they hang up. They do not do anything about it.
Working with the home consultant, nevertheless, started off good. We were satisfied and could not wait to get in. Also, since we have been in it, they said that nobody had ever been in this home before. But twice, where you flush your commode, it wants to overflow on us. And then in the bathroom sink when you run water on it, it wants to flow up and does not want to drain down very well. I do not understand what their problem is, why they cannot come and see for themselves what we have.
Hi Patricia, we really appreciate you voicing your concerns, and we do apologize that this has not been a good experience for you thus far. We are looking into the matter and will follow up. We appreciate your patience!

Anything that we needed, she tried to figure it out. We have a nice lot and we're in a 55+ mobile home community with people that are very friendly. But I wasn’t very happy with the flooring choices that I had for this home. I'll eventually have to replace it. We had the same floor plan. I did change some windows around ‘cause I didn’t want a window here or there. Besides that, everything was straightforward from the plan.

We’ve had multiple roof leaks in the house and Clayton had to replace the roof. I had to replace the flooring because my drain in the sink wasn't hooked up correctly and it's stuck into the wood. They're gonna have to replace a partition wall where my washer is because it molded from the water and I've only had the house since the end of August. I went to the store in St. Albans but nobody from the manufacturer has been sent to my house yet. There has been two emails sent by Josh, the manager of the St. Albans Clayton Homes, to the manufacturer.
If there's a problem, Randym the rep, is there as quick as he can be. He's a busy man but he does whatever he can. He's been on our roof probably six times already, seven including replacing a lot of the vents. He replaced 15 subsections of the room already. The seal on the bottom of the basin was messed up and it was letting water get through it. He fixed that. He redid the plumbing and some of that screw-in attachment to glue attachment. He did the same thing with the washer. He took one of the panels out to let it dry and cleaned the mold out of it. But the water got into the actual two-by-four at the bottom of the partition wall. It's a two-foot wide partition wall to have a break between the washer and dryer and the back door but it's been quite a bit of hassle.
I would recommend Clayton Homes as far as how they're built, versus the old models to the new models, except for the material in the rough tub. They should let them breathe because that was what was causing all the leaks. But I'm glad the house is not just a piece of paneling and tin with a half-inch of insulation in it that burns down in 11 minutes like it used to be. We’ve had the house six months and I can still call Clayton at any point and they resolve the issue. The store's customer service and ability to get people out to me goes further than the problems we've had.

We thrive on customer feedback to better our processes. We are grateful for you taking the time to address any concerns as well. I received an initial phone call following up with everything several weeks ago and Clayton filed a thing with the customer advocacy group because there were several issues that I had with my home. They requested that I email them pictures and conversations, and I had. We only just moved in on August 1st and within the first few months, there were some major shifting where the doors weren't square with any of the door frames. The door frames weren't square with the wall. I know that with the strips on the walls, they would keep falling down and we couldn't put them back up because they would no longer fit. They weren’t the right length. There were more falling off on one side of the house and then, they really didn't fit. They fit before so, there was something going wrong with the foundation of this house. It's shifting in a way that now the distance between the ceiling and the floor is not the same as it was.
Only a couple of weeks ago, Clayton came in and did some repairs but when the skirting was put on, they didn't cut a hole for our spigot. When they put the house on the foundation itself, it wasn't even square on the slab because we purchased a slab foundation and they didn't even put it on the square. When they put the skirting on, the skirting overhung on the side of the slab foundation causing a gap. Then, we had a mouse infestation. I would have liked to sit down to tell Clayton face-to-face a lot of this stuff, and then get people out to repair it. But the day that we moved in on August 1st was the very first day I started my new job. So, I had no time to come out and wait a day for someone to come and fix it. Then, when they said they were gonna come and fix it, they didn't have any people available that week. So, I had to wait for three weeks for someone to come out.
I have a two-year-old, a three-year-old and a twelve-year-old, and I have two dogs. So, when there were stuff falling down and when there were things that they forgot to put up like the stoppers on the floor, my salesperson wanted to order stoppers on the floor instead of the wall, which was just fine. But when you had someone come in and install it, and then they forgot to install it and they leave loose screws on the floor of my three-year-old's room, I'm not okay with that. They came in and there were no toilet paper rolls installed in the house at all. We asked them to install it but they put it wonky and crooked.
I was tired of sending emails and pictures of things to get fixed and telling them that we couldn’t keep taking days off to have them come and fix it. They're gonna have to work with our schedule. So, they finally came in two weeks ago and fixed the laundry list of stuff that we had. They went underneath the house and said the foundation was fine and that there was nothing wrong with our pylons.
I need a second opinion because there's gotta be something wrong to one side of my house. I'm not a first-time homeowner and I've lived in a regular slab foundation home before. I know what foundation issues look like and this is a foundation issue. I don't know whether it's the slab foundation sinking itself or whether there's something going on with the pylons and the structure of the house is compromised but I called them because they're the only ones that come out. When we tell them to fix something, half the time it's not fixed right. And so, when they came and fixed stuff two weeks ago, I went behind them and made sure that they fixed it correctly, and that they didn't do a crap job.
I purchased a double wide trailer but I wanted to make sure that it was as close to a home that I've had before. We purchased a slab foundation, and we upgraded the home and the amenities. When you walk in and if I covered your eyes, and I had you look and ask if this was a trailer, you wouldn't have guessed except for the paneling on the walls. My kitchen is absolutely gorgeous, and my living rooms are beautiful. You cannot tell from the inside except when you walk but I have spent and my mortgage is over twice than what I've spent before.
If this is how a home is "supposed to be" because I've never purchased a manufactured home, then this is the biggest amount of buyer's remorse than I could ever feel. It’s almost $190,000 and I'm putting in money for something that's gonna fall apart around me in the first five years and I would just have a shack. Then my neighbor asked me if I purchased the extended warranty. I didn't even know that there was an extended warranty and I don't know if my husband knew there was an extended warranty. Apparently, whatever things that need to be fixed you're only good for the first year that I purchased it and then after that I'm screwed.
Hi Jessica, thank you for reaching out. We sincerely apologize that you've experienced these issues, and we'd like to loop in the appropriate parties for support. A member of our Customer Advocacy team will be following up. We appreciate your time.

The application was good and the home buying process was really fair. I had to hurry up and move in 'cause I didn't wanna pay a parking fee and a trailer note thing. They weren't able to walk me through the steps on how to work the digital thermometer thing and I couldn't get them out there to show me anything on that part. But everything has been fine, so far. The quality of the build was excellent. It's really nice and I enjoy it. I love it. Working with Clayton has been Excellent. They're good people.

Updated on 05/06/2022: I bought a home from Clayton Homes and it has been the worst decision in my life. Have had nothing But leaks since shortly after buying my mobile home. Reached out many times since it was purchased and was promised by Clayton that the would take care of the leaks. They have never kept their word and now it has been about 7 years and still more leaks. If you want a home that you can trust I currently cannot recommend them. My shingles continue to blow off because they are stapled on at the top edge of the shingles and half the staple is attached to the shingle and the other half is above the shingle.
Original Review: My wife and I bought a home about 5 years ago from Clayton Homes. We were thrilled at first, we bought the extended warranty. Within the first year we had to get the AC unit filled with Freon because it had all leaked out, luckily it was covered under the warranty. You can see nails protruding through the linoleum, we called and we were told that it wasn’t bad enough. We called about the walls bulging out, the front door allows water to drip on the inside of the house behind the drywall. This started within the first year, but all we got was a runaround. The master bedroom ceiling has been leaking.
We call and they come out and tell us it is the vents that is causing it. I have caulked the vents twice in the past year and I have sprayed a rubber coating all the way around the vent. This still has not stopped the water from leaking into the house. This was going to be the last house we ever buy but at the rate of issues we are having, I am not so sure it would last long enough. No matter who I call I just get the run around that the vents are leaking. I am tempted to trade it in but it is ridiculous to have a new home and feel trapped due to the issues with it.

When we purchased our Clayton home, the consultant we dealt with was good but we didn't know there were things we could change. We realized the cabinets are not as big as regular ones. We upgraded the cabinets anyway, but we would’ve made them to the size of regular cabinets instead of the smaller ones where one can barely get stuff through the doors. We would’ve upgraded the paint because the if one barely touches the paint in the house, it leaves a mark. And the consultant never told us, “You all should think about this,” or “You can this,” or “You can do that.”
The only real problem now I'm having is getting them to come out to fix stuff. They come out and try to fix when I call them but it just depends on who I get to whether they bring in all the stuff they need with them. For my door, they didn't have what they should have and they said, “Okay. Well, we got to order a door.” So, I waited a month and I called them to ask if the door is in or what’s going on, and the lady there said, “Oh yeah, I got your door laying here. We’ll have them out there Friday.” I feel like I've gotta call them and I never get return calls saying, “Hey, we’re gonna come back on this date to fix this stuff.” Then, they gotta come and patch the roof as well. Still, I understand things are gonna settle in. If someone’s buying one of these houses for the first time, then they should be informed a little bit more. While it was our first time buying one of these things and we did a lot of upgrades, we love the house and everybody was helpful.

When I was buying a home, there was a huge lack of communication and everybody at Clayton Homes wanted to assume how I wanted things done. It also took me having to get the manager involved to get things straightened out. They need to make sure they understand what their customer wants and not just assume. But after that, everything went pretty well. The home I looked at already had everything in it that I wanted and for the most part, the quality is good. But I have issues with some of the appliances and I’m having to deal with the manufacturer on that. Other than that, everything was decent with my experience with Clayton.

Clayton homes are well-known and they’re well-made. But I am having issues with the house, and I don’t know whether they’re gonna get resolved or not. I think they will eventually, but I’m just not hearing any positive news about it, and I like to go and get it taken care of. We’re finding a trim that is not stapled down very well. The main issue is the flooring. We have humps in the floor. I don’t know whether it’s due to the level of the house, or whether it’s the lag bolts which is what they’re saying it is and very possibly could be, but I don’t think that’s all the problem. I’ve received a call and then they had forgot about it. They’re well aware of it. It’s been just about from day one that we’ve had this issue. And I always thought it was in the leveling, but the floor squeaks in one area of the house.
We had to glue a piece of bolt in the hole where the staples were not even in the wood to hold it down. There’s a lot of little trim work. We talked to them about the flooring issue on three or four different occasions, and we haven’t heard anything back from them on that. Clayton is one of the top lines. There’s only like three main companies out there that build the homes and Clayton is among the top three. So, we were comfortable in getting Clayton but now, I’m kinda a little uneasy about it.
Still, each and every time that we’ve had an issue, they have been down here and they've fixed it. The only issue now mainly is the flooring and they have been down to check it. And everything they said have been true. We had the vinyl siding that was rippled up down, and they said give it time to heat up and that was very true. It did correct itself, and a lot of the stuff they told us was happening. We didn’t have the room to put a bigger house in here. So, we took the design of another house that we really like, and they shortened it for us and made it fit the way we wanted it fit. As far as the design, we’re very happy with the way it’s designed and set up. We just wish we made our bedrooms a little bigger, but once again, that wasn’t on the manufacturer.

Clayton did a really good job. I highly recommend them. Our home is in the country, and it’s quiet and peaceful. We customized everything inside. We kinda gave it a country look because I was born and raised in the country but lived through the city. Now, I’m going back to the country look and kind of reminiscing the way it was back in earlier days. And it’s very comforting. It’s close to my grandmother’s house and it brings a lot of memories when I go home and just look across the street knowing that that’s where my grandmother lives.
That's awesome, Chris! It sounds like you have made a forever home for yourself, and we are so happy that we could be a part of that! Welcome to the Clayton family!

I really like the person that I bought the house from. She always kept right on top of everything. The layout of the home was very good. It suits me perfectly. It’s a four-bedroom and it’s modern. But when I went to look at the house, there were no shelves in the kitchens and in the cabinets and it was made kinda cheesy. It’s really bad. I didn’t understand why it would be like that. Also, the fitters and stuff set in my house are not level and I've got cracks all over the place.
If there was something that needs to be checked, Clayton Homes offered to fix it. And they have come out to fix most of it. I’ve still got a whole list of stuff that they’re supposed to fix. They hooked the heating system up and it was fitted backward. That took us a week or so for the guy to figure out what was wrong with it. He had to come back and rewire or do something to it.
Clayton Homes should’ve told me from the beginning that the home didn’t have shelves. The back of the cabinets are the walls and there are no risers, shelf, nor anything in the cabinet. They’re just holes. That was the way I got them and I didn’t realize it was that way when I got it. I should've been more diligent and looked at them, but I never imagined the cabinets were without shelves or backs in the cabinet. So, I just went ahead and hired somebody to put those stuff. The shelves guy told me that it was the way they came and there wasn’t anything they could do about it. Other than that, Clayton Homes is very good at what they do, and they try hard to make sure everything is done the way it’s supposed to be.

We kinda went to Clayton Homes and looked. Everybody was pretty friendly. We like the staff that was there, so we went with them. The only thing that was not really the best in the world was the communication after the house got put on the lot. There was a back and forth. We called and never got an answer. But eventually, we got a callback. The whole process was longer than it was supposed to be. By the time we got the house set on the lot and got it set up, it was well over a month because we had to make a payment before we moved in it.
As far as the quality, the home’s fine. It’s a decent home. The service guys were pretty awesome. We had some doors that needed to be readjusted, and their guy came out one day and fixed those. He was a really nice guy. And then there was a guy that came out and fixed the piece of trim on the front corner of the house, on the outside, and he was really nice and a great guy, too.

The actual salesman that they assigned me to was not the best. We had an appointment with on Saturday at 1:30. We got there and the guy wasn’t there. We waited a little while, they gave us some water, and we looked at the home. I wrote him a check and signed a pieced of paper and went on my merry way to go to try to arrange to move it. But they never even told me that there was a closing and then I had to come back for more paperwork. I was living 2.5 hours away from there. They could’ve told me that at some time I have to come back here.
I made a special trip back up there to do the closing. The salesman knew exactly what day I was coming in exactly what time. I showed up a little bit early, and he said he didn't have the paperwork ready yet. But he had known for two weeks that I was going to come back. We did his closing, which he didn’t even know how to do. When we finished that up, he said, “Where are you now? I’m getting ahold of the people that move the homes for us, and I’ll let you know how that goes.” I told him that I drove 21 hours to get up there and that I was hoping that he could get this set before I fly back home. So ball was in his court. But everything else with Clayton Homes was good.
The guys who delivered the home were great. The service manager who came out was excellent. He was charming, polite and helpful. He did everything fine. The home is the perfect design I wanted. It is big enough for me, the dog and the cat. I walked in and it was the colors I would’ve picked if I was picking. I like it. I’ve been looking at them for a long time and when I saw the two-and-two for that price, I was happy.

I saw Clayton Homes in Facebook. Two guys in Kentucky started a page where you can see the home that they sell and stuff. I went on there and I liked the features I got for the money compared to other homes. Clayton Homes had 8.5-foot ceilings and I liked the ability to change stuff in the home. I changed the access to the backdoor on my home. It was supposed to be on the very back of the long side of the house. They did that with no questions asked. Also, my wife didn’t like the beams in the ceiling. It’s sort of a farmhouse, so we took the beams out. Clayton also had quick availability. I looked in Norse’s beforehand but they were almost two months out before they could even start building our home. I talked to Brandon, my salesman, and he promised me it would be ready in two weeks and it was.
The others I went to didn’t want to be asked about the price. They didn’t want to include tax and if you go and tell them a bunch of features, they didn’t wanna tell you a price too. I asked Brandon what price it was gonna be and he said what I was gonna mortgage. The only downfall was the time frame and the setup crew. It was summertime and they put my home together. The inside of it where I had drywall didn’t get finished in the time frame that I would have liked. I had to complain to Brandon to get the setup crew to go on and finish the inside of it so we can get finalized and moved in. They were waiting for rainy days to finish the inside and they were doing other jobs.

We have a family that lives in Delaware. So, we were looking around at houses in different parts of Delaware. My fiancée lived in a modular and she said that there was Clayton Homes down there. We walked in the first one and she fell in love with it. We’re both seniors and I’m still working. She didn’t wanna go into another older house. She wanted it to be for our retirement.
Clayton Homes did everything from A to Z for us and everything went really smooth. Their rep did it all from the house to the concrete and to the layout. She went through every inch and she was fantastic. She did all the footwork and the paperwork. I’m in Philadelphia 100 miles away. We did everything over the phone. We even did a mortgage over the phone. We just went to a settlement table and 15 minutes later, we’re already owners.
The location is just unbelievable. It’s all country. We’re born and raised in city life where you can hear your next-door neighbor talking. Out here, you hear crickets and you hear frogs. It's beautiful. We’re very satisfied with our home. I’ve got a lot of friends who are looking into moving down here. Delaware is a quiet, little secret to tax-free state and it’s a great environment for seniors to retire.
We’re still ecstatic over the house and the development and what we’re going through. It’s still a little work in motion. My fiancée changed everything on the walls like three times already. Also, the kids came down and took everything off the walls, and sanded them and spackled them, and did everything they had to touch up and painted.
Hey Mark, this is wonderful! We're so happy to hear that you love your home and the location! It sounds wonderful! We are also so glad to hear the team you worked with was so thorough and made sure you had a great experience!

Clayton is 30 minutes from my home town so I drive past there all the time. We went in there and looked in. We found one that we liked and we decided to go with them. We liked the open-floor concept on the one that we got. I was able to go look at the homes that they had on their lots without a salesman there pushing me and I was able to do it freely. It was nice to be able to have that with my fiancee, so we could talk. Our salesperson did an okay job but there was lack of communication from who we financed through and then the home center and then myself. I wasn’t up-to-date on anything and I was always having to call and ask numerous questions. It took five months until we were able to move in from the time that we chose the layout.
We changed the master bath and did the bigger walk-in shower. The quality of the home build is good although I would’ve liked to have known the type of floors they were putting down in there because I wasn’t certain on what they were doing. It’s almost like a piece of paper on the floor that looks like wood grain and we’ve had issues with moving furniture in. Then, I’ve had to go back and nail more of the trim than what I felt like needed to be done just because it wasn’t done properly from the get-go.
We had issues with the air conditioner and it’s still an issue that I’m having today with the master bedroom heating and cooling. When it’s cold outside, it’s freezing back there but hot in the living room. When it’s hot outside, it’s hot back there but cold in the living room. They came out three different times and looked at it and they say the issue has been fixed. The first guy came out and said the ductwork was bent. So the second guy came out and he said he fixed it but it wasn’t fixed. So, it’s really been a roller coaster and I’ve given up.
I would let people know the experience that we had. It’s not all Clayton Homes’ fault, but they’re the only one to go back to for the issues that we’re having. So, I don’t know that I would recommend them, by no means, to anybody. Nothing has been resolved. The reps from Clayton came out and fixed the floor in a couple spots but as time went on, we noticed more spots on the floor messed up. Then, we’re still waiting on the Vent-A-Hood over the stove. I’ve just got wires and a light hanging, and we’ve been in the home seven months now. It’s one thing after another that we’re constantly waiting on or something’s wrong or something didn’t get fixed when they did the walk through. I specifically went through the house and put pieces of masking tape over everything that was out of place or needed to be fixed, and half of it got fixed and half of it didn’t.

The salesperson did a good job. I liked her but I got confused where my house at. She showed me too many. I thought I picked one that had hallway and something else but I didn’t have these in the trailer I got. So, I went out there one day and asked them to show me what I picked out. They asked why and I said it was because I didn't think I got the right trailer. They said, “You wait this long to say that?” I said it took me that long to comprehend something. They told me what I bought and I don’t think that’s what I should get, but then I moved in.
Carl came to finish what was supposed to be done. I got shingles for my roofing and I’ve got two bands hanging from my roof. And how they put that electrical box thing in there, they left a big old whole under there and a bunch of mouse came in. I couldn’t figure out where it was coming in. I started checking everything and I couldn’t figure it out. I don’t think they were put together, but they said that was how they make them. So, I just went with that. Then they sent another guy over, and he fixed it.
Also, when the trailer came there, and I was walking around looking right in there and I had moved some furniture in there, worms came out of the wall. They squeezed out like maggots. I sprayed, swept and put them in a trash. Maybe they were in the sink when they moved it here. They were mainly in the living room, the kitchen and the hallway. After a while, they started coming out in the bathroom. That was the main thing I was really upset over. I kept telling them, but nothing was really ever done about that.
But I like the house and I have sent people over there at Clayton Homes to buy trailers. I just wish they’re able to fix some of the things. The toilet in the front bathroom keeps getting stopped up. It was cracked. We put a new toilet out there but that didn’t really stop the stopping up thing. I’ve been pouring some boiling water on it but that didn’t help too. We don’t flush toilet paper down there and I buy septic safe toilet paper. I don’t know how they got the piping underneath. I know everything is connected to one thing and it all goes to the septic tank. We had the septic tank already put in and we had the lines already running before that. All they had to do was hook it. And then, we had the power thing already done. All they had to do was hook that up as well. But some people there were good. They tried.
Another thing, when they separate the panel thing, those that had little strips were coming off. You’ll find a bunch of little staple marks where all bunch of little staples in the wall. The ones in the bathroom are coming loose of the staple. I kept reminding them and they sent the little man out. It was kind of annoying. It was nine times a year flipping on the side of the trailer and you didn’t know what was going on.

I bought my 2014 Clayton home brand new and have had nothing but problems ever since. I shouldn't have to try and sink all this money into a brand new home. Within the 1st year I had two roof leaks from the vents which resulted in new shingles, insulation and drywall. While the roofer was up there he informed me that the vents were never sealed and that we have instructions and leftover materials that were placed in the ceiling of which I have pictures of. Our heating system also went within the 1st year and I had to replace the entire top unit. Oh and I did call the insurance company. They came out and said it was manufacture and owner neglect. How can that be? The home was barely a year old.
Let's see what else. Our electrical sockets are popping out of the walls. I am having to replace them one by one. The light in the dining room doesn't work anymore. We have to have a whole new line ran from the electrical box. The kitchen cabinets are falling apart because they are made of press board. The 2nd bathroom toilet had a leak within the 1st year which resulted in new flooring laid down. We have to consistently fix the underpinning from falling apart. We have taken the entire skirting down and replaced all the screws with bigger sturdy ones. I paid extra for better weatherproofing and insulation but the home is still cold and very drafty. This house does not warm or cool evenly. The back of the house always stays cold. The siding we had to fix more than once since 2014.
I was so excited to purchase my 1st home on my own but have been disappointed in my purchase and feel like I made a HUGE mistake that I am stuck with. I have been making all the repairs myself and letting it go. However this last problem was my last straw for reason to file my complaint. Now I have to have a whole new roof, the entire side of my back bedroom has to be taken down studs and all and be replaced. They are damaged from a behind the wall leak that was not visible until we seen mold show up on the drywall its self.
When you go outside you can see where the side of the house is starting to bow out where the wall connects the roof. Who knows what this is going to cost but I am at my breaking point. The roofer came out, looked at it and said this has been leaking for a while. He wouldn't be surprised if it wasn't leaking for a few years now with the amount of damage behind the wall. Never again will I buy a Clayton home or a mobile home again.
Joann, thank you for your feedback. We apologize that you have had this experience! You are more than welcome to go ahead and send us your insurance report and we would be happy to review it and someone will be reaching out to you.

The homebuying process took too long but they said that was regular procedure now ‘cause they changed the laws. I told them I could buy a $50,000 car faster than I could get a $30,000 trailer. The folks there were good but they didn’t follow up after I signed the line. I’ve asked them to come check my air conditioner, and they said they’d check it. That has been two weeks ago and I heard nothing else from them. They hadn’t come back and that’s all well and done, too. It ain’t gonna kill me not to have one.
The home is very cheaply made. Every access to a hot water heater, a waterline and air condition got an access panel to it. As soon as you walk in the door, you can see big old screws. That’s not professional at all, but I’ve never lived in a trailer before, I reckon that’s the way they do things. Actually, I looked at another Clayton but it was in Panama City.

I checked into pre-fab homes and mobile homes, and found out Clayton Homes was the best in the business. The rep had what I needed and made me a good deal. There are several mobile home manufacturers that are in my area. They can offer you a lower price, but you get what you pay for. I appreciate everything Clayton Homes is doing. They’re building good products. The quality of the home is good. It’s stick-built. It's got house windows and house doors. It's vinyl-sided and insulated. Clayton Homes knows what they're doing and they met my expectations.

Clayton Homes was excellent and we’re happy with the house. We like the windows and the fact that when we moved in, the set up turned out like we envisioned. Sometimes that doesn’t always happen but with Clayton, it worked well. We picked the plan and the paint for our home, then we put a sliding door and more windows in. We were able to customize the home and make it look like how we wanted it to. The location is perfect for us as well. We moved back to a ranch that we’ve owned for years. We moved to another property then we set this home back up on a place where we lived for about a year. We dealt with a fellow named Dominic and he was good to deal with. He was straightforward and not pushy at all. He also took care of any questions and everything he said he’d do, he did. So, we’re pleased and we'd deal with him again.
Thank you for the kind words, John! We are so happy for you and your family, and we are happy to hear that we met all of your expectations during the home buying process and beyond. We're also happy to hear that our sales team treated you with the upmost care to provide a great customer experience. Congrats on your Clayton Built home!

At first everything went great. They helped us get approved and we got to pick a home we really liked. However that was soon to change. We signed the papers in early February 2018. The home was not delivered till end of March. They told us it would be delivered in about 2 weeks and finished before March. We did not get to move in till the mid or end of April. When they finally said that we could start our move, the home was not cleaned, nor move in ready from construction of putting it together. They did not do a walkthrough to be sure everything was assembled correctly. Within 2 weeks, the marriage line seemed to be splitting and the cover was wavy like the board had not been treated and left outside to while placed over top of rocks and rained on. The home also was and is still not level.
We contacted the distribution store the home was purchased from and informed them of every issue we were having. Between the leveling, molding falling off, flooring bubbling up due to a nail, plus uneven cut boards under the flooring you can feel, doors not shutting correctly, you can see the rafters in the ceiling, the closets not being finished (2" gap between the ceiling and the sheet rock), countertops being broken, the counters pulling away from the wall, the shower leaking into the bathroom through the wall due to a loose fitting, along with a leak in the roof and so much more. We contacted them over and over again to come look at what was going on. The first time we were told we were on the list and we also needed to wait 6 months for the house to settle for it to "level out". Needless to say we are almost 2 years in the house and still have the same issues plus some. We even called corporate prior to our 1 year mark and never heard back.
Finally now that we are almost 2 years in the home corporate calls. They tell us that we are past the 1 year warranty, however they will come look at it. The guy that came to inspect the house from corporate did nothing except tell us that we had a leak because a vent on the roof of the house needed to have caulk put around it, which we should have maintained ourselves. Considering how new the home is we thought it should have been assembled correctly the first time. We have finally given up on it and started repairing the issues ourselves. If we ever decide to buy another mobile/modular home it will not be from Clayton. Also maintenance had come out to level the home. They stated that the frame was level, however they were concerned that we were sold a faulty or defective home.
Kortany, we appreciate your feedback. We're sorry that you felt you had a poor experience with us. It's very important to us to provide a world-class customer experience, and we will forward your feedback to the appropriate parties in order to better our processes.

I was looking for a home, and I didn't wanna spend over $150,000. I'm a single woman and I couldn't afford it. I also didn't want any issues like no roofing, no foundation, no plumbing, no heat and air. My son told me about Clayton Homes. Everybody has their bias opinion about mobile homes, but when I went in there, I was fascinated and impressed. I was happy with the one that I saw. It was so customized and I don't need to do anything with it. Everything is beautiful and their reps were so nice too.
I immediately put down my down payment around May and I moved in the house in August. I've told several people about them because homes are so expensive. I spent 80,000 and got a new home. I chose the Breeze Farmhouse. My daughter just graduated from culinary school and the kitchen is fabulous. The only concern that I had was the agreement that they had with Yes! Community that I wasn't aware of. If I would have purchased my own land, it would have taken a year. If I would go with their agreement and go into a lot, I could do it sooner, but I didn't know that I would be stuck in that lot for 4 years. But it's okay because then I'd get me a chance to save up more money to buy the property to move the home. It's gonna cost me about $10,000 to move the home eventually.

They were there every time I had a question, were always willing to talk to me and kept me in the loop. Gray was the one who came out and showed me the home and how everything works. He was awesome and was like a family member. If they were not available, they always called back. Or I would text and they would text and call me back. The lawyer was a silly, old man and I loved him too. It’s my first home-buying experience and it was just a short time to get my final approval but it seemed like it took forever. Our home was previously ordered by another person. It was on the lot and in storage. We needed a home ASAP so we just took it. I was happy with everything she did. She explained to me the upgrades that it has so it's good. The rep that I dealt with was great. He was knowledgeable and friendly. He returned our phone calls. They had to ship the home a long ways because I happen to be in Boise and there's a Clayton Homes in Twin. They had to work really hard to get us our house versus going to Twin. It’s a tiny little single-wide home. I like that the walls are taped-and-textured. We custom-ordered that. We had a problem with the shower. There was water running out from underneath. It leaked down into the insulation and they came and taken care of that.

Stay away or even run if you have to from Clayton Homes in Wilmington NC (representative Brian). They're nothing but lies and more lies. The price kept changing and the Clayton Homes (representative Brian) acted as if he and the lending institution which was Union mortgage (representative name Wendy **) were concerned about their commission and making money. Once I started asking questions about the fees and the overrated charges, my file went from preliminary approval to a denial because the Linda stated I didn't have reserves. Crazy fact is I have over 50k available with over 10 acres of land and they were still asking me to bring funds to the table to close.
Stay away from Clayton Homes in Wilmington NC. Brian the lazy procrastinating representative had me jumping through hoops and paying for permits that were ultimately denied out of my own pocket. This was the worst experience ever as an ** experiencing this type of treatment. Dustin, the rep from Clayton Homes, was good to us. He’s down to earth if you talk to him. In our home with Clayton, we had cabinet space and stuff added in to it that wasn’t originally there. There were big bay windows and we had it moved in and out, and we have a kitchen. It made a difference and my wife loves it. We were waiting on getting done with our land before we could move anything but everything was handled in a well amount of time. There’s a poor airflow in the master bedroom and the master bathroom, and more or less, it is the size of the pipe that’s going through those. We’re not very happy about it but we’re in it for life.

We found Clayton after shopping around for about a year. We went to Oakwood Homes, and spoke to the manager over there and a new sales associate and really enjoyed our interaction with them. That has really what helped us decide on Clayton Homes. Matthew was very professional, respectful, courteous and knowledgeable about what his job was and what he was doing. Brian, who was a new associate at the time, took Matthew’s instruction and I could see the effort that he was putting into it. He was courteous and respectful, as well. And that was always a positive.
Our house came straight from the factory. From that moment our decision was made and what house we wanted and we ordered it, and from the time it was delivered, we were disappointed about it. It did take longer. We were given two different excuses that contradicted each other on why it wasn’t delivered when they said it was gonna be delivered. The factory or whoever was over there, or the woman in charge at Oakwood Homes was not being 100% honest with us.
There were also small details in the home that they could’ve paid more attention to because those were not hard to do like the trim lining up and seams lining up in the walls, trimming on the lower cabinets. Some of the cabinets weren’t closing all the way. The doors weren’t really lining up. I could be in the restroom getting out of the shower and look up and I could see where the trim didn’t meet together, that it was off up in the corner somewhere. But we liked the floorplans and we love the design and style. My wife loves the kitchen 'cause she loves a big kitchen. It’s bright. It’s white. It’s like the centerpiece. Our friends who have seen it, love the design of the kitchen, with the big island.

The quality of our home is not what I've expected. You can see through the walls, where the walls come together inside the house, from my mudroom, I can watch my wife doing dishes. I haven't heard from them, so we figured nothing else was gonna get done and we were on our own. There’s a big hole. The people that put our stucco up on the outside of the home where there’s stucco instead of brick, they poked a big perfectly centered hole right in the siding where water is running in. I put a piece of tape over it just to cover it up, but it rains so much here in West Virginia that it got inside the tape and just washed the tape off.
There’s still stuff that isn’t done. The front door leaks between the doorjamb and the walls or the outside, which means that it runs in between the house door and the screen door and runs into the house. There’s nails or screws or whatever starting to work their way up through the floor and sticking up, starting to poke up through the floor.
Three-quarters of the doors in the house don’t close right. They came out and said they fixed the outside door on the side by the mudroom. Then it lasted for two days and now, we literally have to slam the door. We can’t just close it. We gotta turn the handle and pull real hard and then hope that it closes. I don’t know how many times I've woken up in the morning and the dog has been outside on his own because the door comes open.
Our caulk on stuff has mold in it that you can’t get off. It’s coming from the outside in, that you cannot scrub off. I tried scrubbing it off with mold cleaner and a toothbrush and it is embedded. So now I have a home that I've been living in since September that has this mold thing. The home is very energy-efficient. It’s great for the heat and the air and all that stuff. But that should tell you that there should be no mold. I take a little knife or whatever and just scrape it, and it’s on the inside of the caulk. We pointed all this stuff out to them at Oakwood Homes in Knightsville, West Virginia, where we bought it from.
The tub surround has nothing on the top of it. The water is running down between the tub surrounds and running down in-between the wall. It’s coming out of the bottom by the tub and by the floor. It’s getting to be where nothing’s gonna get done. I mentioned to them about getting an attorney and they said that I'd get an attorney, then they wouldn't send anybody out there at all. It would go through the courts. Also, the rep said that it as a design flaw that they tried to bring up in meetings to get fixed. She said that she would bring it up again with them the next time they would have a meeting to see if she can get something done about it. But I haven't heard anything back.
Now Clayton sent somebody all the way from Tennessee and come up there to fix the floors. The guy took one spot where a screw was coming through the floor and he took a razor knife and cut it and pulled the nail out, and then took a hot glue gun and glued it back down. So now, I got a spot on my floor where it was just hot-glued. We even have furniture coasters under everything and everywhere we set furniture, it leaves a permanent dent into the floor. They said there was nothing they could do about that and that the floors would actually move. The representative that comes from Tennessee said that the vinyl wood flooring was not glued down to make them easier to repair and that was the way they do them.
We spent pretty much $96,000 to buy a home and get it put in and everything else, and then they put it on June 4th and then we never even seen them again until September. We had to keep calling to get people out there. They wanted us to put the “purchased” on, and I told them I would not put “purchased” on until the stucco’s on.
It took Clayton forever and a day to come to do that and then they left all their garbage. A rep came out there and took pictures of everything. These guys left their garbage, Monster cans, all their scrap stuff. They even took stuff that wasn’t even used at our house. They just unloaded their pickup truck in the back of our house because I had a brush pile back there. They left broken bricklaying all over the place, and then nobody picked up any of their garbage. Whatever they used outside or in the house was left there.
Clayton Homes sent somebody out and one of us would have to take a day off of work for them to be there to get something done. The guy worked for about an hour and a half, and then said he was gonna run out to his van. Then he ran out to his van and he was gone. Then they told us that they weren’t gonna put up the molding and everything that come with the house because it was cheap and was gonna break and we were better off just to buy our own. I told them that I paid for this home to be finished, but the guy said that the stuff was cheap and that we should just geet our own and put it up. Then it took up until a month and a half ago for us to get our doorjamb casing.

He was more helpful in picking and choosing the best quality home one could buy. It took about a week to get it delivered. Then I picked our stuff out when it was delivered. They had it already in the lot and I just moved right in. The new flooring that they have in the home is more superior. They have come back out for a couple of little nicks here and there, but it was nothing major. Those guys did a great job. They were understanding and helpful.

This is my 15 month review of my $150,000 2018 The Lloyd home. If you haven’t made your Clayton purchase yet do yourself a favor! Keep shopping! My Clayton journey started out great. I used an independent Clayton dealer in Parsons Kansas and they treated me great. My purchase was fast and easy and my home was delivered on time. But that’s where is all changed. I quickly realized i had made a mistake after seeing the poor quality and horrible craftsmanship of the home.
The first thing we noticed after moving in was the bad air flow in the HVAC system. In our master bath and bedroom (the farthest rooms from the AC unit) we have almost zero air flow out of the vents and the rooms stay 5-10° cooler or warmer than the rest of the house. The tech said that there was nothing they could do and that I would just have to deal with it. Not what I wanted to hear with my $500 electric bills! Next was the plumbing issues! I had leak after leak in the kitchen and both bathrooms. I had to replace multiple valves and fittings and both toilet bowl valves. Then rainy season came around and we notice a huge puddle in the living room floor and sure enough the roof was leaking! After about 6 weeks and countless towels and buckets of water later they finally got the roof sealed.
Those were our major hurdles in the beginning and we are still living with the sub par HVAC system. Now I have a list a mile long of poor craftsmanship examples that I have to look at every day! I have walls that are out of square with the floor and ceiling. Nearly all of the trim has shrunk and pulled away from the walls leaving gaps. The floors have humps and sags in places from who knows what. Some of the door jambs are so out of what the doors won’t even latch. Our front door isn’t sealed right and leaks in rain storms, ruining our trim inside.
Our master shower was leaking and the caulking had cracked out and separated from the fake tile and when we cut the old stuff out we found that there was in fact no drywall or backer board behind the tile and there was actually flat cardboard boxes spacing the tile panels out away from the studs! We were shocked. How does a major company in 2018 get away with something like that?? If you don’t believe me then you need to check out these pictures.
I could go on and on but the point is my Clayton built home is finished poorly and I don’t feel it was worth the money I spent. If you're in the market do yourself a favor and pay attention to details. Ask about quality, walk through that house again and really take a good look. If you're expecting a top notch finished home then you're in the wrong place!

We looked at all different places and we always kept going back to Clayton. We had Jay for our salesperson, and he was the most terrific, awesomest person ever. The house sold itself to start with, but he went to every effort to make everything perfect. If there was something that we were concerned about he answered all the questions. He even fixed the problem that we had about where the house was laid out because we didn't know that it could be switched around different. He was spot on everything and he made suggestions. He was with us the whole way, letting us know everything that was going on, including the guys that would be coming out, doing this and that. We had a lot of rain during that time so there were concerns but he kept us informed on everything.
And Jay wasn't pushy at all. He said, "Take your time if you're not ready to put down your deposit or make sure that's the right house that you want." And we went to other places that were kinda like, "You gotta put $2,000 down right now or it's not gonna be here." We were looking for a certain mudroom laundry room. We didn't want something with just the washer and dryer fit in. We wanted something bigger. And everybody else aside from Clayton only had small laundry room. We weren't thinking about a porch until we saw the Clayton model one day when we were out there and Jay said, "Oh, yeah. You can add that on if you want." So we ended up adding a porch on the end where the laundry room is. The laundry room is just like a mini-kitchen. It's just wonderful because I got my washer, dryer and I got cabinets.
I also wanted a certain place to put a freezer because in my other house we had the freezer just sitting out in like a little deep area and I couldn't stand that. So we worked around that. Jay also helped us out with the colors. We had a couple little, minor things, but the guys set their appointments and they came out there and got everything done lickety-split.
I was worried about not having a place to stay in between the transition. But Jay said, "Don't worry. Don't worry. It's all gonna work out. You're gonna have electricity and water into it. We'll get everything where you can move in." I didn't wanna have to pay for a hotel and have extra expenses. Everything worked out perfect. I'm a worrywart to start with and Jay made me feel very confident that everything was gonna go great, and it did.
Dave and his crew, who set up our house that day, were awesome just as well because they were the cleanest. We walked in the house after they first set it up and they were doing stuff inside, and they swept and mopped. It was just awesome. They didn't have any trash outside. They were as pleasant as can be. We spent a lot of time with them out there, putting everything together. Dave came out and helped us with the sewer line. The guys worked really hard even when it was like 100-and-something degree weather. Clayton at Florence couldn't have made it any better or easier buying a house. All the people there were just wonderful. I'd recommend them to anybody and everybody.

My husband and I visited several Clayton Homes locations throughout our process of choosing a home for us, the right home for us. We chose a Clayton Homes a couple hours from our location but it was because the customer service (at first) was amazing. Everything was explained in detail and we were reassured through the process that we were going to be able to get the home we chose. Our appraisal for the land we were buying came in lower than anticipated, however, we were again reassured that Clayton would make it work.
We started seeing a trend of actions. The numbers were increasing each time we spoke. At first it was explained that we would pay $157,000 for everything, then when we met with our lender he had a figure of $172,000 and asked if Clayton showed us the breakdown, and we told him no. We then had to make some changes for the appraisal adjustment but that didn't work because the loan amount changed to $194,000. When I told my rep that wasn't going to work, I mean who would pay that kind of money for a manufactured home, he quickly came down to $183,000. That was not going to work either, Our appraisal is $147,000. Which to me should be plenty for a manufactured home.
I mean let's face it, the whole purpose of an appraisal is not only to protect the lender but also the buyer. You don't want to pay more for the actual value. Truth is Clayton is way overpriced. And I feel once they don't think there is really much they can do for you, find you the home you want, they string you along and provide empty promises. Clayton wasted a lot of our time, months. I would not suggest buying your Manufactured Home with Clayton. And if you choose otherwise, do your research. Look at several home places and compare prices. There are other places out there that will treat you like family, be honest, and not overcharge you. I wish we did this from the start. If we did, our house might be in the process of being built as we speak. Instead, we are starting all over.
My husband and I work long hours all week and can only get out on Saturdays to see homes and talk to people. Too many weekends and months have been lost because of Clayton Homes. If they were just honest or took the time to sit down and explain what they could do for us instead of telling us they would have to call us the following week, it would have saved time. Not to mention when we were told we would be called back, we never got that call. I had to stay on them by calling or emailing or texting. That is not good customer service. Be careful who you deal with when dealing with Clayton Homes. They are a large company and sometimes with that, you get what you get.

The buying process with Clayton Homes went well. But I was disappointed with the end product for what I thought I was getting and what it turned out to be. The factory has sent a representative out to take care of a number of things, but there were predrilled holes under the vinyl. He had to take the vinyl up. There was a lot of debris under the vinyl that he had to clean out. The toilet seats didn’t fit. The paint job is terrible and it’s still terrible. We’ve not repainted it. There are places with no paint on the walls or on the trim at all. On the cabinets, three of the doors are gonna have to be replaced, which they’ve already put in their order for those because they didn’t match. To pay what I paid for it, I expect to get a top-line product.
The people at the dealership were so nice. The guys that came out from the dealership have done their best to try to rectify things. The gentleman that came from the factory did a fantastic job. His name was Homer. He works like he’s fighting a war, and he knows his job. He knows what he’s doing, which was something that you don’t see a whole lot of anymore. I purchased my Home through a reseller in December 2017 and took delivery of my house in February 2018. From the beginning there were problems. Now that the warranty has expired I have issues with my shower floor pan. You can feel and see the floor shifting when you are in the shower. This is a construction issue not a foundation or other issue. This just highlights how terrible Clayton Homes is at construction and customer satisfaction. I wish I could have sent the home back on day one and I told the plant that as well. I should have listened to friends that had experience with Clayton Homes, they all said not to buy a Clayton. I should have listened! If Clayton truly stood behind their product they would have a better warranty for their product, but clearly they know their homes are crap so why stand behind them. Buyer Beware is all I can say....

Everything went smoothly when I bought a home from Clayton Homes. It was easy and straightforward. The process took about three months and my approval was fast. Any issues I’ve had so far, I've handled myself. It has been anything too costly so I just end up replacing things with something with a little better quality. I’ve had a few issues with the plumbing fixtures. But aside from that, it has been all right.

When we bought our house, there were no written plans and It was hard to find anything online to say what it would look like. Evidently, it was something unusual. We picked blinds, flooring, walls in the inside, but we picked from a different home plan. We weren’t able to even look at our own home plan. We also added a couple of things and turned a bedroom into a den because we’re only allowed to have two bedrooms on our lot. The process took longer than we thought it would take, but they warned us. The whole thing took about eight weeks from the day that they would deliver to their lot. According to them, it went pretty quickly, but to us, it took forever.
Because it is a mobile home, the quality is okay. We know that it’s a mobile home. Not everybody has to know that when they walk in though because they won’t think it is, but there are a lot of little things that the builder could do that would make it less like a mobile home and strange. There are a lot of silly things about the house, like the placement of electric outlets. They just don’t make a lot of sense.
Also, one side of our house has shutters on all the windows, but on the front where you see it from the street and where the porch is, it doesn’t have any shutters. To me, that was kinda weird. I thought, "Why didn’t they think of that?” However, they just delivered an identical house in our neighborhood and that one has shutters on the front. But all in all, we like the house very much.
Brian, we really appreciate your feedback on the home buying process. We know lots of factors can go into the overall time frame, and we really appreciate your patience throughout the experience! Everything went well with Clayton Homes. It took a little longer to get everything set up out here in the country because of it being a new property. The home was here a little before we could get the water and electric hooked to it, so we had plenty of time to get things that we brought with us moved in. We didn't bring everything down with us. We were moving from Katy to Houston and everything turned out well. Richard was the main manager and Rico was the salesman who worked with us. Susan was the secretary who did a lot of the legwork and I still call her and ask her questions. They did a good job in explaining all aspects of my home purchase. We decided not to finance and paid cash. That way, we didn't have to worry about a mortgage or an escrow account, so we’re free and clear. Still, they were willing to help us out if we had any questions. A lot of time, if people sell a product, they're done with you, and Clayton was not like that at all.
I like the spaciousness of my Clayton home. Compared to the one in Katy, this one is so open and there’s a lot of room. We’ve got four bedrooms and it has a lot more square-feet. We don’t like living in the country, which is why we’re in this town. So, that’s a big plus. They returned calls and emails. Someone was always out here at the drop of a hat if we had a question about something or anything going on. They were right here with us the whole time.
This is so wonderful to hear, Audrey! It sounds like Richard, Rico, and Susan went above and beyond to make sure you were taken care of. I am ecstatic to hear that you felt cared for during every step of the home buying process and beyond. I will be sure to forward your feedback on to Richard and his team!

I’m disappointed with Clayton because I haven’t got anything done about my fence. My water pipes are exposed. They weren’t buried underground like they should have been. I really am upset about my pipes being exposed like that. They have been coming in and doing some repairs. They replaced the faucet, they did some caulking on my roof to keep it from leaking and they caulked our door because it was leaking so bad. Water was covering our carpet.
I had a guy from Clayton come out a couple of days ago and he took some pictures. Nothing was said about getting it fixed. But I was promised a gift card because I never got a cleaning on my house, which was supposed to come with the house, and we never got a cleaning service. I was also supposed to get a discount card to get a carpet cleaning. Also, we have an 8-foot wooden fence and he told me that the fence didn’t look as bad as they were saying it did. It did have a hole in one of the planks, but not a very big hole. But the guy said that they were gonna replace it because it was rotten. He also didn’t think the pipes should be above ground. Clayton would have been in some deep trouble because you don’t mix a waterline pipe into the high-voltage power line.
Everything was supposed to be working in the house, and I was able to buy a fan motor and put it in the freezer and got my icebox working because it wasn’t working either when we bought the house. Hurricane Harvey damaged our other home and we had to get something. It’s a new place to live. There’s a central AC and heat that’s working. We went from a big house to a single trailer. So far, we don’t have our complaints. I’ve dealt with very nice people. They followed through. My pipes are still above ground, but I don’t wanna put them down. It was their contractors that they contracted that did the job bad. If they would get different contractors out to do it right, then everything would be great. Nonetheless, they have tried to help. I just hope they get on the ball and get things going.

We sold our mobile home in Colorado and moved down here to Smithville, Texas to get closer to the children. We’ve been to 2 or 3 different mobile home outlets and decided on Clayton where we got a better deal. We live out in the country and they handled the whole home-buying process real well, including the moving service they used. In getting set up, things got jiggled loose or banged around, but they were right on the spot and repaired that to make it home-ready. The Clayton people were very professional and made it so we felt right at home. We’re pleased with our home, but the model we got could have used more drawers than cabinets. There’s about a million cabinets and it had one set of drawers in the kitchen. But we got that handled and worked out. So, when they build another home this size, they should add more drawer space. The overall experience went smooth and easy, and they had good salesmen as well.

My wife's cousin is a Realtor. I was referred to go over to Clayton and meet with Julia, and she’s phenomenal. They addressed my questions and concerns very well. Even Derrick, the manager over there, was very good. The home-buying process was smooth and very easy. They simplified everything. What was really good too was that they followed up, just making sure how everything was. I got along better with them than I do with most family members. It was very pleasant.
I bought a floor model and although I could have done customizations if I wanted to, it would have just been an add-on. We were fine with the way it was. It even came fully-stocked with furniture. It was a great deal so we couldn’t pass it up. The home is very well-built too. Instead of a modular home, it’s a standard house and with the insulating factors, my electric bill is barely over 100 bucks for how big it is. The house that I was living in previously was smaller and the electric bill was almost 200 bucks. It’s a night and day difference. When I got it there and things moved, they got it set up and they got everything back, if not better-conditioned than it was originally. We’ve been very pleased with everything.
Wow, Andrew! I am thrilled to hear how happy you are with your home! It's awesome to hear you are saving money on your electric bill, too! We love our salesman from Clayton Homes, Matt. He was awesome and there was nothing else they could've done to help us out especially with me being seven months pregnant at the time. I work at Walmart and Matt came to my line four months before. I have seen that he works at Clayton and I told him that my husband and I have been talking about buying a house. I asked if he had a card and he said he didn't but then he could give me his number. When we went to Clayton, I went through a woman at first but then she didn't think we were serious and brushed as off. So, we came back and that woman put Matt with us. Fate brought us together 'cause he remembered me from Walmart.
At Clayton, the popcorn they gave was amazing. Also, I brought my daughter who was four at the time and the reps printed on papers for her to color. Buying from them was an amazing process. Matt didn't try to oversell anything. Instead, he asked for the do's and don'ts and what would be the deal-breaker which would be why I wouldn't get the house. We got it but were delayed a couple of months. But still, the Clayton reps called and checked on us when I had my baby. They sent stuff in the mail and stayed in contact. At the time, we were paying rent of $805 for a three-bedroom, two-bath place. Now were have a four-bedroom, two-bath place and we pay roughly $700 with our insurance. Everything that I told Matt I wanted, the home has.
This is so wonderful, Jasmine! I'm so happy Matt was able to assist you and your husband, Bobby, in the home buying process! It sounds like he really took the time to make sure your home was exactly what you wanted! It's also awesome to hear that you are saving money while owning a home versus renting! Congrats on your home and I hope you and your family enjoy it for years to come.

The person (Lauren) who is in charge of the project keeps giving me the run around. I paid 300000 for this house and it looks terrible inside. There are crack everywhere, dents in the walls, spackle that is not finished, they painted it without cleaning so there is dirt clumps all over the walls. The trim looks terrible. The strip binding the house does not match anything. The crews show up for half a day.
Nothing but excuses from Clayton and Eagle River. The exterior is not done. The septic keeps malfunctioning. The grading of the land is terrible. There has been several meetings and Clayton blames everyone but themselves. My house has been on the foundation for 4 months now and it is nowhere near done. I spent a long time just looking at everything that was available out there, and I didn’t like to go any farther away from home than I have to for anything. And so, I had Lexington Clayton, which was close, and then Asheboro, Clayton was the closest. I called both and I knew that I wanted to go to Asheboro. The home consultant I dealt with was excellent. I picked out my floors, walls, and cabinets, and I’ve done the two-bedroom instead of the three, and that made everything much larger all the way through it.
Any time that something moves and settles, it is going to have a few little inconsistencies -- even a brand new house will do that over time as it settles. I’m one of these very OCD people, and the only thing that I wished I would have that I don’t have is some kind of a touch-up kit that I could touch up some bad places that were on the walls. I’ve tried several different things but I’ve not come across a formula yet that I could touch up places.

We didn’t have to take what was there. The overall sales experience from Clayton Homes was good. The consultant was helpful in helping us find the floor plan we wanted and getting everything set up. And anytime we had questions, he was always available. Although there were a couple problems, like with one of the contractors that did our concrete work, the consultant was quick to get them fixed.
I like everything on my new home. The open-floor plan is very nice. It’s a single-wide, but it’s like a 16-wide. And I’ve had friends over who see it on the outside. They would have something in their mind what they think it should look like on the inside but they'd be like, “Wow!” It’s not what they expected." We went for the no carpets because we have two little dogs and they were accommodating. We also got the light-colored cabinets instead of the dark-colored ones, and when the home consultant saw it, he was so impressed. Eight busted walls. I sign papers 9 17 2019 before Thanksgiving. I’ve been after them to fix things and make it right. They were supposed to remove the trash still there to this day 4 24 2020. They make it like it’s my fault me and my wife we been cleaning up ourselves and they got paid for it. All they care about is line their pockets. They have no customer care. Not even want to compensate us for all the time and money spent Out of all pocket when we paid them $62,000 for the home and for the job. So we are out weeks of lost wages.
Cleaning up they have tore up the fence on the property line. Push trees over the property line and tow up neighbors trees and Have not fixed it to this day. They don’t care about your property or anyone else’s. The home office doesn’t care either. I talk to the GM he doesn’t care. Just be aware of Clayton Homes. Make sure that you put in detail your contract when they gonna start and when you gonna be in your house and make it clear. If not they won’t finish what they start do you houses or is it that well-built to start off with. Clayton home had a good name. All it is now is a smokescreen and a way to line their pockets. They advertise the customer comes first. I haven’t seen it yet. All I’ve seen is one runaround after another. I’ve got a log that I have kept. Go to Clayton Homes Sweetwater YouTube. Check out the videos and see if I’m telling a lie or not. Beware of Clayton Homes.
Original: They did not build the pad properly and has no drainage. My house is it under three or 4 inches of water. When they went to in the driveway they only cut a 14 foot hole for a 16 foot trailer. They damage the vinyl. The roof. The screen door. I can take an 8 foot three-quarter inch piece of pipe and push it in the ground 4 foot by hand with no problem. I have eight busted walls. 19 busted ceilings. It’s been like this now for going on 14 weeks. If I was to send out somebody out on the factory but he did not have no clue what he was doing. I’m post to have another meeting but we’ll see how it goes.
The house was not built that well. The fire marshal call me an hour. Y’all have charged with 15 Violations on Hylda house was installed. I wish someone would call me so I can send you all pictures. I asked for the representative to call me personally and I’ve yet to have anybody with any Sorgi to contact me yet all they wanted to do reflector $62,000 and leave me hanging. Y’all see. Y’all keep high standards where are your standards. I don’t see you know how standards at all. I’m personally trying to let people know do not buy anything from Clayton Homes. In Clayton Homes If they can’t start doing as a claim and expecting these houses before they leave the site and on the site like they like they are post to do and they have no standards. So it’s a puff of smoke that they are sending out to the public that they have our best interest in mind. All it is is they want to land a pocket.

The home feel is very well put together, and for the money that we’ve paid and are gonna pay, it's definitely worth it. The community the house is in is in the woods. It's quiet and away from everybody. I love it.
However, whoever did the decks or the exterior building part didn't do a very sturdy job on it. It's wobbly and didn't last very long, so we had to replace some of the railings already and it’s not even been a year. Other than that, everything went great. They were always timely in getting back to me if I had any questions and thorough with everything and they still are. If there was something wrong or I needed something fixed, they were very attentive.

The quality of the home, as far as what we have put into, is really good. However, there are a few things that we had asked and paid for which we had found out that wasn't done. We had asked for OSB board to be in the bathroom surrounded because we needed handicap bars. We had paid for that then we had found out that has not been put in. We've had some trouble with something across in the ceiling showing and they had to get a specialist that does drywalling out to fix that. We've also had some trim come loose from the ceiling and they've had to put it back on. Then, the hoses under the sink weren't tightened up, so it leaked once they got everything in place.
We had to have a floor replaced down to the insulation, and that's when the people from the plant came. I'm very well pleased with their work. However, sometimes they just put a band-aid solution on it. They're nice people but they're just in such a hurry so they can't do anything in-depth. Still, the issues we've had have been settled and everything has been real good overall.

Everything went fine with Clayton, and I am enjoying my home. I worked with consultant Jim, and he was very helpful to show me everything about the house that he thought I needed to know because I didn't know much about a mobile home -- I had always lived in a brick home until my home burned down. Then there was another guy named Mike and he was nice too. After I picked out the home that Jim showed me, Mike came out and measured the plot. He also showed me how everything would be set up on the plot and where everything would be. So, all in all, I was satisfied with what they did for me.
I have been in other mobile homes before and I know this is a new one. Mine was built out of a lot better material than the older ones were. They gave me a color preference and I picked out whatever they showed me. I picked the one I wanted, and everything worked fine. They changed some light fixtures for me like I wanted and they had a microwave over the stove. I wanted a hood and a fan there because I'm short, and I didn't want to get burned taking stuff out of the microwave. So, they changed that for me. Whatever I asked them to do, they did.

Buying a home from Clayton Homes was really easy and good. The home consultant was super nice. I had his number and I could call him at any time. He always answered all of my questions. I had to order my home so I got to pick what I wanted in it. I changed the way the wallboards are hanging. It’s turned to the side to keep from having so many of those little seams. Giles Manufacturing made this one, and it’s one of the things they did in the front room. And it's one of the reasons I really liked the home that I got ‘cause I had them do it in the bedroom also. However, whatever's inside the cabinets around the refrigerator and the kitchen are not very thick or sturdy enough to hold something heavy. I don’t know if I would put a hole out on the bottom. Other than that, I like the quality of the house.

My home buying experience with Clayton Homes was absolutely wonderful. It was easy, all the workers were friendly and helpful, and all my questions were timely answered. Buying a home can be fearful, but I didn’t have any sense of fear walking in because everyone embraced and reassured me every time. I like that the rep was available, listened to my concerns and didn't brushing me off as a female. They treated me like I was number one and that I was the main and only customer that they had to deal with. I tell anyone who has asked that they need to go to Clayton.
I downsized quite a bit and size-wise, I'm loving the home because it's a lot less to clean-up. I also love my kitchen. I love that little galley style. Then the home has the rest of the floor completely open and I can move my table anywhere I want to, so I’m not constrained. So far, the home's quality has been good, even when we've had some really horrible storms in the last couple of months. The other night, the wind came up all of a sudden, and even though the wind was awful and I could hear it, I never felt it.

I liked working with Lauren and Clayton Homes very much. They were fantastic people and I got anything I needed done. I can complain about my trailer but I can't complain about them. The reps were good and they answered any questions I had as well as any problems, or they came. They were excellent. I also like my home very much and I'm very happy but I have come across some major issues that I’d like to wrap them on the head. A couple of months ago, there were seven people in here, and all of a sudden, we heard what sounded almost like a small bomb. Everybody got scared and ran out. We had it checked several times and nobody could find anything but I know something happened.
The reps from Clayton were gonna come down last week so that I could set up an appointment for the boys to come down. I have a feeling that I have a crack in my ceiling but that has nothing to do with Clayton Homes. Then, in my closet, there is daylight that comes in in my bedroom. So, they're supposed to be fixing that. It sounds like an airplane in my house when my furnace is running. It is so loud and it's because of the door. They should put a better-quality door on it. You don't know about it and you don't think about it when somebody comes and sells you. You're looking at it but you're not hearing it because everything’s shut off. If I heard that, I wouldn't have bought the trailer. But I have a beautiful home and I'm slowly getting it to where I want although that door is so annoying.
Clayton sells the homes but they're not the ones who build it. I cannot condemn or blame them. The dealings with them and the girls were fantastic but the crack in my ceiling has been the second or third time. My home is all in level and it’s a good-sized one. It's easy to maintain, well-insulated and comfortable. I have enough room to turn around. Some places were small and they jacked my lot rent up because they're doing some waterlines and adding people on to that. I can either sell the trailer or I'm gonna start looking for some land. If I can afford to pay for the lot rent, I can afford to buy a land. I am really upset because I'm on a limited income and this has been putting a hard burden on me and I'm debating what I wanna do because it's difficult. I was very upset with it. I got a letter in the mail and I sat down and thought that I couldn’t do this. I don't do anything and it's not like I have all kinds of stuff going on.
I have my trailer sitting here on the lot and the only thing that I get is that they pick up my garbage and I have my water and sewer but it's $376 a month. That's too much. I am really pissed off because I wouldn't have bought the trailer. I can handle $300 a month but when you add another almost 100 bucks on it, I'm not okay. But the ladies came in and I requested them to put a step-in shower in for me and I love it. I got the barn door on and I love that too. It's all been good.

We liked the way the house had looked on the internet, and after I asked LGI the questions I found out they’re a pretty good company. It’s pretty easy to get through. They worked with us. We loved the home. The kids are happy. We have just a few flaws with the home, but overall, I'm happy. It’s just some other things should’ve been done to the home. But overall it’s a really good build. My wife needs it to be handicap-accessible, and the home is really not fully equipped to be handicap-accessible. So, in the future, for other disabled clients that wanna get in a home like that, I would suggest that you have a roll-in shower, because that’s one of the problems that we’re having. We don’t have a roll-in shower, and then it takes two people to put my wife in the shower. And then, all of the doors need to be widened. But other than that, everything is okay.
Thank you so much for your feedback, Herbert. This type of information is very important to us! We will be using this information to better assist customers with needs like your wife's in the future. We're very happy to hear that you're happy with your home overall, though!

My husband and I started the process of buying In July. All seemed to be going pretty smooth, that is until around the beginning of October. We’d already had our pre-approval so we had be gathering information as needed. We were told in October before our wedding that the house would more than likely be done before or shortly after our honeymoon. Then one thing after another it’s been pushed back. We were told on closing a month ago it would be done by the end of this month. Now it’s sometime in February.
Then the contractor called us out to the property. The driveway and and where they put the septic was put where house should have gone. We were told that this was due to best spot for the septic. As I told them before that would have been fine had someone called us and told us, so now the house is being put at an angle neither one of us wanted due to flat land. And if someone would have called my uncle does that work and would have gladly went out and flattened so we could at least angle the house.
There have been multiple things had we known in advance and even though we’d asked if we’d need anything else could have been done. My kids have been transferred to a new school because they assured us it would be done before the end of this month. And now we are going to have to figure out how to come up with money to stay in a hotel for the next month and a half all while losing money because I’ll have to go in late and leave early. We are very unsatisfied with how things are going and if we could stop the process of this we would. Won’t be coming back here again.

My wife loves the floors, the laundry room, and those kinda hidden in the kitchen. The quality is good for a single wide. The only issue that we have is the strips holding the panels on the wall together would break really easily. So, the only recommendation I have is for the manufacture to find some stronger strips. Other than that, everything is holding up very nice so far. So, we’re very pleased with it.

Clayton Homes' rep was decently fast. We had a few issues where we would talk about one thing and I thought we agreed on it, and then it didn’t end up happening. The issue was probably just communication. That or just a whole lot of paperwork. He seemed to know the process through a good part of it but didn’t seem to understand a lot of it. I do construction for my day job so I know a decent amount of stuff, and there were some things that he was saying that wasn’t lining up.
The home is beautiful. But I just noticed in the recent months that there were some things that I feel like the builders or the guys in the factory could’ve done a bit better, or gave a little more effort. I had some drywall damage. And there were holes that they drilled for the vent that didn’t end up getting used, so I just have holes on my floor that lead outside. And I’m having heating issues in the house right now. I have contacted them about a few things, not about the heating yet. I was waiting on them to come out and fix some drywall issues. But I also had them come out multiple times to come fix my shower because the tile, where the grout is, is separating, cracking. There were holes and I can’t really use my shower. I just hope they would not try to rush the process as much. They really seemed like they were trying to rush it a bit, especially near the end. And they didn’t really listen more.

But I've had a lot of issues with some of the appliances when we first got our home. The brand new dishwasher didn't work and I had to get somebody out there to fix it. They have fixed it, but the dry mode on it where it's supposed to dry the dishes still doesn't work. The guy with the septic tank was not so good. Also, my trim is already falling off or popping off. My sister emailed Clayton and sent them pictures. I'm waiting to see if they're gonna come and fix it. But it's the holidays, so I ain't pushing the issue. From the model I looked at, I changed the master bedroom to what I wanted. We also changed it to a stand-up shower.
I like to come out the master bedroom into the living room. But there's no light switch at the door in the living room, so I have to walk all the way across to the front door to cut the living room light on. We went to another place to look at homes and Clayton was down the road, so we stopped there too and we were able to speak with somebody. The home consultant suck you right in, but they did not fulfill the obligation, and we’ve had to really work to get anything done here. We did a walk-through, but there’s a lot of things you can’t catch on a walk-through. Clayton had the workers back. I had to get on their case to get them to come back out here and do things. And most of them were done correctly, but they still have work that needs to be done here that they have not done. And they came in this week unannounced, and gave us a letter that they were only gonna take care of what issues were on the walk-through and that they weren’t gonna come back and do anything else. Our year is not up yet and there’s a lot of work that needs to be done here. And some of it is structural.
We’re senior citizens. We paid a lot of money for this house and we’ve gone through a lot. Their customer service sucks. They were great until they got your money. I wish they could fulfill their promises. They came out here and they were supposed to plant so much grass seed around here, and none of it grew. They covered it up with straw. I’m totally frustrated. I talked to the service manager on one occasion about getting some stuff done. He told me he had 100 other houses to do. And I told him I don't care about the other 100 houses. I care about the one I bought. When me moved in here, the house was not ready. They didn't even clean it. It was a nightmare just to move in. And we didn't even know it because we couldn't get in here until they let us in. And now, we can walk from the bedroom to the bathroom, and we hear floorboards moving.
If anybody asks us about Clayton Homes, we’ll tell them not to buy it. We don’t want anybody to go through what we have. In fact, we’re thinking about just writing letters to State’s Attorney General because we are senior citizens and they have taken advantage of us, and I am not a happy camper about it. We don’t need this. Had I known then what I know now, I wouldn’t have bought it, and I would not buy another.

And throughout that process, I was going to each place talking and looking at different homes and Clayton was the one I like best for the price. The house was nice for the price. I like darker tone wood and a subtle tone, and that was what the house had. I liked the open floor plan, I call it two living rooms, between the two living rooms and the kitchen.
Their reps were easy to deal with. They were great. I started with Jean who was a really good talker, but he was a really good guy at the same time. He did a lot for us. Towards the end, we moved more towards the managers and the financial department, and they were awesome too. They threw in some extras that I don’t think other companies would have done, like they bought us blinds after we got the house. They bought one for each window in the whole house. They didn’t have to but they did that out of goodwill, and it was over $500. There were a couple of issues with the brick masons' part. We called the trailer company and they called the brick mason right away. And they were on top of it. They didn’t let anything wait. They assured me the whole time. The salesman was trying to get me to pay out of pocket that was not included on the contract or the final layout of everything, and there was just a lot of miscommunication going on, and still going to this day. I dealt with a few different people. The walk-through was fine, but not everything that should have been discussed was discussed. Also, I had to call them for questions and most of the time, their reps would answer them all right. But every time I've called up there and left a message for somebody or something, I've always had to call back. Nobody called me back.
When you look at the home, it does look good. But when I got into the home, I found issues. It was poorly built. I was dissatisfied. At every turn, I'm having a fight with them over every little thing that's going wrong with my house to not everything being openly discussed like it should have been. For instance, when I first got my house, I've been having my house for about seven months, and I've been having people work on it ever since I've got it, and a lot of it had to do with the siding of my home. I've been waiting for three weeks now for somebody to come out and fix the siding again. I've already had them come out three or four times to fix it. Clayton Homes is the only ones that can work on it. They said if I get anybody else to do anything, it will void my warranty.

We went to church with Eric from down at Sevierville, and my wife worked with him. When we were moving back, we decided on a mobile home. We knew we'd probably deal with Eric so we didn't have any questions about who to talk to. We told him what we wanted and how we wanted to have it built. He told me what he could do, what he couldn't do. He did an excellent job. Everything up to now, we've had it taken care of. We've got a few things we needed them to come back and fix before our year's out on it, but as of today, everything has gone really well. We had a death in our family when we ordered the home, and Eric said, "Don't worry about the home. We'll get everything done." I couldn't ask for anything better.
That's so wonderful to hear, Claude. We're so glad that Eric took such good care of you and your family. He really is excellent, isn't he? We're sorry to hear about the death in your family, but we're glad that the Home Center worked with you and made things easy for you during that. Congratulations on your new home!

My wife looked into Clayton Homes. She drove me in there and it was the best experience I ever had as far as buying a home. The rep helped and showed us every house that they had to pick the one that we would want. They didn’t pressure us. The guy was so laid back that it was just a pleasure working with him. Finally, I ended up picking a new energy-efficient, and it came down to about nine-grand on it. I got a really nice house and it was a good experience. The buying process was pretty easy. I only showed up twice. One was to look at our home and tell them that where they were at was not it. It was a one-day-in, and that had been quick. The home is all electric and our electric bill is actually a little bit lower than it was last year. It’s just big enough. It got a lot of rooms. I love it. I wouldn’t trade it with anything.
We wouldn't trade this review for anything, Phillip! We love to hear that you and your wife had such an enjoyable home buying experience. It sounds like your home consultant was perfect for you all, and the house is too! We take pride in the energy efficiency of our homes, and we're so thrilled to hear that you're getting to enjoy the benefits! Congratulations on your new home, and thank you so much for sharing your experience with us.

We were driving around in Lubbock looking at the different companies, and a lot of them were too expensive at the time but Clayton Homes had better sales going on. They made the buying process easy for us and it took about 3 weeks to be completed. Everything was good with the home consultant and he was really nice. Any questions we had, he helped out really quickly. He would answer my questions or have somebody else call me. We got an already ready house and the quality is nice. The price is amazing for the build. Also, I like the people that they have in Lubbock as they are really helpful. We've had some problems like stuff falling down for the shingle but I would call them and they would have somebody coming out to me right away. Then, they call me a couple days later asking how everything was and if we need anything else. So, it’s been good.

I needed to get moved pretty quickly and I told Clayton my situation. I had to be out by no later than April the 15th. I had good credit and I had all my paperwork in order. I started the process on January the 17th and I took all my paperwork to them on the 23rd. The rep seemed like on the 17th, it wouldn’t be an issue and then 23rd, she acted like we’d be closing in just under a week or so but that never played out. We were supposed to close on February the 6th but we didn't wind up closing ‘til March the 12th. The house was delivered on April 23rd and I wasn’t ready to move in until May the 15th. It took four months on the in-stock house. It was not what I was promised and it put me in a real bind.
I have numerous issues with the house. They’ve had to put at least four doors, two front and two rear, and the rear door is still all messed up. And when they built it, they left rubber bands, wood shavings, and trash underneath the material. They had to rip floors out of it and fix all that. Also, I still have issues with my plumbing. For two and a half months, I sat down here and drank dirty water. The guy that did it improperly installed my faucet. It was their wrongdoing and it took two and a half months of me drinking dirty water to get them out here to fix it. Then, the plumber had to come back because another part they fixed broke, then it started filling my front yard up with sewage water.
I’m fixing to be going to court with the contractor that cleared my land. Clayton hired the contractor and on January 31st, I met him out here and the first thing I asked was if it's okay to put a trailer on the land because I got a huge drop on the west side of the property and he said yes. So, then, I asked if he could push all tress into one big pile outback, away from where the house is gonna be. But he pushed a tree into another large tree. It’s 25 feet from my house and he left it hanging. Now, the tree is dead and it’s dropping dead limbs everywhere. He damaged two other pines on the other side of my property, 30 feet from my house. They're now dying because he busted the roots.
I wasn’t planning on moving that pile any time soon but the way he left it, I had to move it and I had to pay to have it moved. They agreed to pay 550 for that. And I’ve tried to get him to take the tree down while he was here. The bulldozer was here and he had chains he hauled it with. He could have easily taken a chain, hooked it around that base of that tree, pulled it to the ground, and pushed it off with the rest of them. That’s a 5-minute job and he didn't do it.
I’m looking at $2,250 to get the trees fixed. I got an estimate a couple of weeks ago. For three months, I couldn't get an answer so I finally just chose to do something else. I contacted BBB but that was zero help. I’ve got the pictures to prove it and nobody wants to listen to me. So, I’m gonna file a case in court and take them to court. I hate to do it, but I got no other options. You can’t leave a man with dangerous trees on his property. That’s an unwanted and unnecessary expense and I shouldn’t have to pay for that.
We're sorry to hear that your buying experience didn't meet your expectations, Randall. We're going to pass along this feedback to our retail team and will use it to better our processes in the future.

We’ve been looking for a home for years, and the salesperson over at Clayton Homes finally found one that we liked, and we bought it. The whole buying process was easy for us. We ordered it, had it in three weeks, and moved in a month later. It was painless and quick. Everything was great with our rep. Lacey was her name. In fact, I just got a Christmas card from her today. She’s wonderful.
We changed the countertops and the flooring of our new home. We've put the crown molding in, the six-panel doors, and the Ecobee thermostat. There was a window in the back by the dining room where we’ve put sliding doors in. We upgraded the carpet, too. Every issue that we’ve had has been taken care of right away by Clayton. And we just had a few minor issues. The quality of our home is very good. I’ve seen a lot of these homes and this one is like the best quality I’ve seen.
We LOVED reading your review, Melody! Thank you so very much for taking the time to tell us about how much you love your home and about how your buying experience went so well. We're going to be sure to pass along all your positive feedback to Lacey and her team. It sounds like you got exactly the home you need for your family. My son just bought a double-wide from Clayton, and I went over there right after he did and got one. It didn’t take long because I went over and paid cash for it. They came and put the trailer, and they told me they were gonna round it off, mount it and then put the trailer on it so it wouldn’t hold water underneath it. They sunk tractors out here and never even put dirt back under it, and it’s holding water. I called the rep two weeks ago. He said he was gonna come over a look at it and he hasn't been here yet.
I bought the trailer last December, and the rep was in a hurry to get it off there because he said he was reliable for it. And they just rushed it over here and put it on there and didn't do any of the yard work. The people that put the trailer in didn't even leave a mark anywhere. But the people that has come over and fixed stuff has been alright.

The guy from Clayton stepped up and he helped us get through all of that. He did more than anybody else would’ve done, so we were pleased with him. We were trying to work on one end and he was trying to work from another end. So, we kept in touch with each other and let each other know what was being done and what needed to be done. We got some issues that we called about and needed correcting. The guy fixed some things and then he said that the manufacturer needed to come and fix the others. We called and the lady that answered the phone said that she was gonna send the people that made the mobile home. That’s still pending but so far, it’s good.

They had their restore program. I went to other ones and they said they did restore stuff, but I didn’t like their attitude. I then went with Clayton. I bought the house in April and it was delivered in April. Everything went fine with the purchasing process and Patty, the salesgirl was good. They came and fixed everything I asked them to fix. I told the guy when he was doing the house, coming in doing repair, this is not a 16-wide trailer and he had no comment. The title says 16 but it’s more like a 14. If you measure it, the inside diameter is just over 14 feet. If you count the thickness of the walls and stuff, it’d be just over 15. All my neighbors have 16 foot wide trailers and theirs are 16 foot. They bought 16 foot and they got 16 foot trailers, inside diameter. I called Clayton when I found out right away. They said they’d look into it but I haven’t heard anything from them.

I like the way this trailer was made. I asked for a high commode because I am a senior citizen and I had one in my house, and I got that. The home-buying process with Clayton was all right. But once you get in on the lot, if you got some kind of problem, it takes too long to get it fixed. I had a problem with the Vent-A-Hood. The man came, took the Vent-A-Hood out, went to his truck and didn’t have a Vent-A-Hood that was ready there. It took weeks for him to get here, and then it took that long again for him to get back.
I called about my front door. It’s glass, but then it’s a wood door. The glass is sweating, and when I called, we had had a real cold night and the door was full of ice. The lady was gonna get with the fellows and call me back. But she haven’t called me yet. The door is full of water right now. The temperature is supposed to get down in the 20s at night and we have ice on the door at night. I hate to keep calling, and then you can’t get the one you wanna talk to. But as for the quality of the home, so far, so good. I got a big window in the dining area and I had a problem with getting air, and they got that straightened out.

We’re old people and we came from a log house. We had to move. I dealt with three different managers from Clayton Homes and all three of them were gone. I was mad for a while and I was gonna do away with the whole thing, and it went on for six months. The purchasing process started around Christmas last year and we didn’t get the house ‘til about June. But the manager I got now was a little more on the ball. He knew what he was doing. We just had two or three minor things happened and they serviced them quick, quicker than I'd ever dreamed of. We got that taken care of.
My wife looks after her parents and that was the reason I got the double-wide. It’s awful hot inside, but it’s got the right amount of windows. The only thing I don’t like is the heat pump. It’s next to the kitchen and when it runs, you hear it all over the house. But we can get used to that. So, we’re mostly happy with them. I’d recommend them to anybody. I was a little confused for a while, but the last part of the process was great. I was happy with the experience and I like the home.
Thank you so much for your honest feedback, John. We're sorry to hear that you experienced some turnover with the General Managers at your location, thank you for sticking with us through all that. Clayton Homes was not the best. I had an issue with my front door. It wasn't straight. One side was sitting off two inches different than the other. I called on to the main office and they said they'd get back with me, but they never did. I called the guy from Clayton and I told him the experience because the Clayton home came from the other company and they bought them out. I was having issues with the manager at the other place too and I just got frustrated. I started with the other company that they bought out. All these were handed over to Clayton and when I was going back, I couldn't get stuff done. I had to go through the whole experience. It has been a year now and I still got the same issue. But it is what it is.
Purchasing this home through Clayton took me a little longer because I had to get my land straight. They call it the land lot. So, it took me about a year to get the land straight and that was when I got the house. But when I got the house straight, they were supposed to deliver it in one day. They didn't come that day and delivered it another day. When it came, they were gonna put the sewer tank in the wrong spot. I had to take off from work and I was there. They had learned it was going in the wrong spot. But they changed that window and then the tank was on the way, so they had to reroute it. They got permission to reroute. When they checked, they didn't know where they rerouted this home and how they did all of that.
When they did it with a crane, they just sit the house up and then took off. I was there too and I'm a crane operator in a shipyard. I don't know why they were hooked up in the middle with a house joining it. So when I was there watching it, I stopped them because they didn't see that port. It was hectic. The manager went up there and told me he'd lay that and was gonna put a stand in the house. But he didn't and he didn't put the black plastic under the house. They gotta to remove the sticks and all the stuff where they put the stand on before they put the house down. But he didn't know that. So, everything I went through and had to get done, I was talking to the manager and I was going through some stuff. So, I just gave up and do what I had to do.
My Clayton home wasn't a nice one. I wouldn't recommend them. Somebody called me and asked me about it, but they had the house built instead. I told them if I was to deal with them again, I wouldn't. They'd get you to pay $500. It means you're interested with the house and the contract. It seems like when the ball is in another park, you will need to take your time to do this and do that. Another thing, when I bought the house there, they broke some stuff and they didn't replace it. They went ahead and cleaned the house. I've been cleaning the carpet and then I got to report on the carpet. The carpet wasn't in the best position. They were stuck like already worn by being set up so long at the place. But they didn't replace any of that. There was one cut in front of the stove and it had burned. We replaced all that. It was just one thing after another.

Put tiny slits in my flooring in 2 rooms then glued it down. Said it's permanent. Both peeling.... Floor squeaks in several places. Oh did I mention the lumps in the padding under the carpet? Be sure and take your shoes off when looking. Sounds crazy but you'll be glad you did... Oh and be careful if they are offering a rebate. It will get absorbed by "incentives". Just be sure everything is right before you take those keys, after, you will be forgotten. If I had it to do all over again, I'd shop around.

The reps helped us and showed us what they had available and everything worked out great. We bought the trailer and they were most gracious. They took it to our property, set it up and got everything in working order even though they had to make several trips because of different things. The trailer shakes loose when you move them and Clayton got everything in working order. My grandson lives in Tulsa so he would meet the reps from Clayton there when they’re doing to do something and they were always there just like they said. We gave him the key to the gate so they could get in. We got some water damage and Clayton took care of that and fixed it.
The trailer was going to be used by all of us and half of it belongs to my granddaughter and the other half belongs to my grandson. But my grandson wanted it mostly because he likes to hunt and my farm down there is mostly a hunting area so, we go down there for relaxation. He uses the trailer more than I do. They love it, because it has a bathroom and they have a four-year-old and a two-year-old. It’s a nice trailer, very comfortable and they have everything working properly. I’m still waiting for some of the stuff to get done on my house and some of the workmanship leaves a lot to be desired. The reps from Clayton had to come back a multitude of times to get stuff done and they don’t pay a lot of attention to the kind of work that they do. When they came and put on the piece of the countertop that fell off three times, they didn’t make sure it was flush, so I had to go and get something to make it look pretty. There was a big list written down and at Ocala, they said that they would fix some of it so, Chris, the guy from Clayton in Ocala that I deal with at the local manufacturing home facility, is taking care of the Ocala end. I’m still waiting for Waycross to fix their half.
Just this week, the drawer front on my kitchen drawer slider fell right off, just sitting there and that’s ridiculous. It’s a brand-new home and I don’t have to worry at all to have to pick up the phone and say I need things fixed but I am still waiting three months to put dishes in my dishwasher. There was one person who said that when they put in my dishwasher, they had to replace it because it was damaged. The replacement was also damaged and she said that I was gonna have to contact the warranty company to get them to replace it. I told them that I was not gonna contact the warranty company for that. They said that was how it was done. That was unprofessional and that was Waycross in Georgia. I called Chris and he made sure it got fixed, but Waycross, Georgia never called me back on it as well as on the scratches on my shower doors.
Chris called back and tried to make sure that everything was getting taken care of but there were some stuff where I had to call back over and over to make sure that it gets done. The follow through hasn’t been a good thing from the Waycross perspective. The last time, they came through and they did some of the stuff they had to do, but they’ve called and said that the wrong piece of stuff was sent again. I was thinking if they didn’t know what house I have and how they couldn’t send me the right stripping piece of equipment. I don’t have the energy or the time for the lack of communication, waiting around and not getting a phone call, and the lack of professionalism.
Aside from the defective dishwasher and the front of the cabinets falling off, which are stuff I’ve had to fix myself, the doors are not even and I had to adjust them myself. They told me that the outside of my house wouldn’t mold too much but my doors are starting to mold, and I don’t really care for that. So, some of the quality is iffy but the house is good and very energy efficient and I like that.

We like the way our Clayton home was made. It was just the right size for me and my husband, and it's built good. It's energy-efficient, and we really love that. Bill was excellent. The only thing we asked them was not to put any carpet in the living room, the hallways or bathroom. So, they didn't and they put carpet in both bedrooms.
It sounds like everything went perfectly for you, Gloria! We're so glad to hear it. Bill definitely took care of you it sounds like. We're also happy that you're enjoying the energy efficiency of your home!

Everything went okay with Clayton Homes for the most part. What was required for the county to have a modular, double-wide home was a lot more than what Clayton had anticipated. So, there was a lot of miscommunication and not a good follow-up on what needed to be done to take the home on the property and go by with the codes of the county. Also, they need to improve from the manufacturing standpoint. I’ve got several issues that still need to be taken care of. In the laminate that they used for the countertops, whatever glue they used was crap. As far as being energy sufficient, it is about a 60% to 80%.

I have to put that up myself.
But they had to come out to fix the nails are popping up through the laminate flooring. I told my partner, “The home we’ve seen online has trim work all the way from the walls, where they fit the house together and up on the ceiling work. And they didn’t put on the ceiling work." But they finally put up the wood trim that’s supposed to came with the home. And when I get the chair railing and all that put up it will look great.

My family bought houses from Rick when he owned Busbee's Homes. He is the one who runs the Clayton here in Buckeye. We, then went with Clayton because he was there and the manufacturing place is only a mile away from the house, so it was nearby. Buying from them was very easy and Rick was a lot of help. He was a very outgoing, humorous, and down-to-earth person. He seemed very honest and very nice to us. He always tried to help us and made sure everything was done right. If I have concerns, I send him a text and he tries to get people on as quickly as he can. He was very thorough and was on top of everything.
The floor plan that we got was the brand new floor plan that Rick had designed, so he did not have a model yet. And I got to pick everything out for the home. Overall, it has been a positive experience. We are definitely happy with the home. We get plenty of compliments from everybody who comes over. They are amazed that it's even a manufactured home. I cannot believe that it is a double wide and I'm just in disbelief on how beautiful it is and how nice everything is.

He was upfront with us about the whole process, and he explained everything to us, and then we went back and we chose the one that we wanted. We chose real porcelain sinks and wood cabinets and they are nice. We also picked a few other colors, so we had had choices. We had one little issue, however, with the way they manufacture when they did the electrical outlets. When they were skinning the wire, putting a crease in the wire, and bending it to put it in the receptacle, they were using this piece of equipment and then the wire was breaking. So then I had no electricity downstream from those. But when I called the vendor, they took care of things quickly.
Some of the setup could have been much better. The house was dirty when we moved in and my wife was livid. She had to clean everything. Open the cabinets and there was sawdust everywhere. All the windows were dirty, all the stickers were still on the window. I've never seen her that mad over something. That, however, had something to do with the service from the vendor and had nothing to do with Clayton. Overall, I am happy with the product. It’s efficient and quiet, and my electric bill has been low.

Everything went pretty well and smoothly with Clayton Homes. We are in the house and we like it. I a bought a 77-acre plot last year, and I put the house there. The location is great. The home consultant walked us through the homes that we wanted to buy and then she went through the whole process with us. She explain things thoroughly. Whenever they told me they were going to bring the house up, they said that if there are trees that are hanging on the road, I was responsible to get a hold of the homeowners of the properties they were on to have the permission to cut them. I figured that would have been Clayton Homes’ responsibility, but it wasn’t. Nevertheless, I got the whole house up here for under $100,000. So, I thought that was a decent price for how far they had to move it and all the setup. You get what you pay for.

Clayton Homes was amazing. I love my home and the service that I continue to get from them. They’re great people. My consultant was Keith and he was very friendly and warm. He has a great personality and a wonderful sense of humor. If he didn’t know a thing, then he was real quick to get the research done and get me prompt, accurate answers on a thing. He was knowledgeable about what was available in the trailer, and how, when and where it was built, and what I could expect. Any changes that I may have wanted to prescribe, he made that happen and he followed up afterwards. He made that happen. In the process, I discovered that one of his daughters is a student of mine, so that gave me even an added on relationship there. I have nothing but high remarks about Keith. He is an amazing gentleman.
I love my new community. I searched long and hard, and it took me a year to find it. Once I found exactly what I wanted, I was very happy with what I found. The community is amazing. The only thing that keeps this from being a true dream home was the fact that it is a trailer. If it was the same kinda structure that would be lasting for 50 years, it would be even better. It’s the perfect place, though. It’s my dream home.

Austin, the salesperson from Clayton Homes, did a fantastic job. He did as much as he could but we ended up having a big problem with the general manager, Tarrance. We had some major issues with him following through on anything that he said he would do. We have not been disappointed with the home itself and the salesperson that we initially worked with but the way that Tarrance handled the problems we ran into was extremely poor. We ended up having to relocate the mobile home because there were undisclosed deed restrictions that we were unaware of and never given, which I didn’t hold Clayton necessarily responsible for. But when we moved our home onto a new property, Clayton bought the lot next to us and did a package deal for another family.
Tarrance ordered that two-acre parcel to be completely scrubbed and cleared of all the trees on the property and the ground cover because the people wanted it dirt. They mistakenly cleared our entire two acres that we spent two weeks clearing a path for the mobile home to be delivered to and set on. We have now a corn field without corn. They took out over 100 trees and they were not willing to make it right. We called and made a police report because we did not know what happened and then after thinking about it, we thought that there was a possibility that Clayton had this cleared. There were 100 mesquite trees and Tarrance said those were weed but they were 6 to 12-foot weeds and were serving as a barrier and a privacy and a noise buffer, because the property is located on a highway. So, we said that if they wanna just put back 75 mesquite trees, if that’s what they were qualifying them, we were fine with that.
We ended up saying that we would take 5 shade trees and 30 cypress trees, something fast growing to kind of establish what we wanted. Tarrance was unwilling and said that they were not doing that and they would see us in court. We did not do a thing wrong and after the end of this six-month nightmare of having to spend 30 extra thousand dollars having to move that mobile home, and then having our lot scrubbed, he offered us $2,000, which would be the equivalent of maybe one matured tree and planting it. We didn’t cause that and we were willing to work with the mesquite trees. They were serving the purpose. We just had our first rain, and two people got stuck on the property because it is a mud puddle. So, we had to get a rock driveway just dumped so that we could even have access to the home at that point.
I’ve never sued anybody in my life, but at this point, we have suffered so much damage. All we wanted was some trees back. They trespassed on our property and mowed every tree over. They had a dirt work tractor out there for two days just mowing it and because the property is several miles from our house, we weren’t visiting it every day because we didn’t even have the whole move there yet. So, we had no idea until we went out to mark where they were going to put the pads for the mobile home being moved to, and we were met with this completely ploughed field. Our attorney that we just retained is writing a letter asking them to make this right. We aren’t suing for anything other than replacement of what they took down.
Everybody from Clayton has kinda removed themselves and we don’t have any interactions up until this point. My husband did write a review and we got a text message from the sales guy saying, “How dare you?” which was a little disappointing. We are not happy with how this is being settled and I feel badly because the salesperson has been nothing but great. Still, he can’t grant us what needs to be done. Hopefully, they’ll be willing to settle.
Thank you for your feedback, Julie. We're glad to hear that working with Austin went well, but we're sorry to hear that you weren't happy with Tarrance. We will certainly be passing along this feedback and using it to better our processes.

Vinyl siding coming off of our 2019 mobile home that we purchased in December 2018. We purchased a 2019 Clayton single wide in December 2018 from Clayton Homes in Statesboro, GA. We paid for upgraded vinyl siding on the house and was told that it would come with OSB. We started having problems with the vinyl siding shortly after purchasing the home. We had the individual that sold us the house and a repairman come out to the house to make repairs and was told that the house didn't have OSB on it and should have. The factory from Tennessee sent a technician out to make repairs in July, and he informed us that the whole house needed to be redone and needed OSB. When I called the factory, Angela told me that he was just a tech and didn't know what he was talking about as far as OSB was concerned. The factory then sent two individuals out, and they replaced all of the vinyl siding on the front and back of the house.
Six days later the vinyl was falling off again. They sent the same individual out to replace several pieces. I was informed by him that the factory had numerous problems with this vinyl. He also said that it would not lay the way it should because of it not having OSB or something to hold onto. Today, I again sent pictures of the vinyl siding that is coming off again and asked about OSB. Angela told me that she couldn't provide me with anything showing that OSB was an option or a form showing that I choose or didn't chose the option for OSB. We paid over $65,000 for this house for it to not be built the way it should be.

So I stopped and inquired about it. The home buying process was very easy because of the home consultant. He was very personable like I was talking to a family member. I was a first-time home buyer, and they looked at my income and what kind of income I got. And he said by being first-time, I might not wanna extend myself so much. He was absolutely right 'cause I got so excited, I was like “I want this. I want this. I want this.” And he brought me back down to Earth and said to take my time.
He answered all of my questions, and if he didn’t know the answer, he got somebody who knew the answer. Plus they always said they were gonna call the next day if they didn't know the answer and they actually called me the next day. They were very prompt. They’re one of the most professional people to get a modular home or a trailer. They’ll take care of it. I love the quality of the home. I was able to pick out my tub. Initially, I was told that I could pick out everything that I wanted. But once the process got going, they came back and said that with the home that I got, I couldn’t. But that wasn’t a problem, because everything in the home, I ended up loving anyway.

Clayton Homes went pretty smooth for the most part. The buying was simple and easy. And once we were ready for the home, it went easy there too. Our home consultant was very knowledgeable on all the details about the house. She was able to stay in communication by call and text throughout the buying process. The quality of the new house, however, is probably my least favorite about it. They used brad nails to do the trim. We had the air pressure up too much, and the trim shot all the way through. So, now, you bump its remnants all along.
The other thing is the fixtures. They have the vent and a Holby valve. The one in the kids' bathroom would get so hot until it can burn them, and then the one in the master bathroom doesn't even get hot. What they know here is that they put in a Holby valve to protect the kids because it gets so much hotter than ours. I've also talked with them on Amarillo, and they told me how to adjust it. But, with ours maxed out in our master bathroom, it is still not hot enough. I think it’s just part of trailer settling. But then whenever I call them they come right out here and do what they need to do. We’re very satisfied with our home.
My wife initially went to George Humfleet Homes and they wouldn’t even come outside because it was cold. They told her when she finds what she wants to come and get them. My wife said that was stupid. She just got in her car, came back home and told me. I told her, “Just go up there to Clayton Mobile Homes. They’re good with people.” I wasn't able to go because I got a pacemaker and I can’t handle the cold weather
She went up there and she talked to Jimmy. It was raining and snowing, cold, and Jimmy didn’t care. He just got a coat on. He said, “Come on. We’ll find you a home.” They walked over all the lots and my wife found the home. She came and got me and we went back up there and talked to Jimmy. And he told us what our down payment was gonna be, so we went and got the money. I told him, “I got the money. I wanna go look at that trailer again.” He said, “Why, sure. We’ll go look at it. If you ain’t satisfied with that we’ll get you another one.” We went and looked at this one again. My wife said, “That’s the one I want.” And the manager up there, he’s something else. He’s a good man. I’d recommend Clayton Mobile Homes to anybody.

That's so wonderful, Sabrina! We're so glad to hear that things went so well and that you enjoyed working with Kim. We'll be sure to pass along that information to her team. Congratulations on your new home!

I like the sales staff at the Clayton of Statesboro. They were very knowledgeable and helpful. I paid cash for the house so the home buying process was easy. They ordered the house and there were only a few things that were missing. I'm using it as a rental property and have nothing but good things to say. When there was a problem, Clayton Homes came right out and took care of it so I'm very pleased. There are some things that I wish they had done a little differently, but for the amount of money you spend, you can't beat the quality. All in all, they did a good job. I'm very satisfied with the experience and I would definitely recommend them to anyone else.
We're very pleased that you're very pleased, Sherry! Thank you so much for taking the time to tell us about your experience and about how Clayton Homes of Statesboro took such good care of you! We hope the home continues to be a good rental property for you for a long time to come.
