I work on Whirlpool refrigerators for a living every single day of my agonizing, miserable, lousy life. I've never seen such a mass of dysfunctional, defective rejects as I have with the new Whirlpool side-by-side refrigerators. The ice maker never works because the water line always freezes in the door. The food in your refrigerator side will either spoil or freeze because the damper door will stick open or freeze shut. The water filter housing will start leaking before you change the filter for the first time because of the inferior quality of the plastic it's made from. And of course my all time favorite the compressor will always go out under the first 5 years (That's why Whirlpool changed the warranty from 5 years to 1 on the sealed system). I've never been a big extended warranty believer. But, like old saying goes, "They just don't make them like they use to." Definitely applies to Whirlpool refrigerators.

This Whirlpool refrigerator is only 1 year and 3 months old (just out of manufacturer's warranty). I am very happy that I bought the extended warranty. I have had to have 2 service calls in the past month. On the second one I was told the compressor needed to be replaced. I have had refrigerators that were 25 years old and never needed service and are still working. I have seen many of the same problems being reported on Whirlpool Refrigerators of this type. I recommend you steer clear of them. Also KitchenAid and Maytag because Whirlpool makes their refrigerators too.

I recently purchased a Whirlpool refrigerator, model number WRT351SFYB00. Several months later, I noticed a small amount of water on my kitchen floor. I moved the refrigerator and found the hard wood floor under it had been completely ruined, so the leak had obviously been going on for a long time. Possibly since day one. I called a repair man. He identified the leak was coming from a cracked drip tray which was not uncommon. However, much to his surprise, due to the design of this model, he was unable to remove and replace the tray. He explained there was a metal panel bolted in place that was preventing him from replacing it. He said this panel was also bolted to the compressor. Therefore, the best he could do was caulk whatever cracks he found in the existing tray and hope for the best. It goes without saying he could not guarantee his work like he normally does.
I noticed this same complaint on a user forum website on Appliancepartspros.com, so this refrigerator obviously has a significant design flaw. My repairman said if it was his refrigerator, he'd get rid of it, and also indicated that after seeing this, he'd never again recommend Whirlpool to anyone. All I know is that Whirlpool is permanently off of my list now as well.

I purchased the refrigerator in Nov. 2013 and it stopped working completely on 3/22/14. I called Customer Service and they told me someone from Apple Appliance would be here on the 24th, it is now the 27th and still no repairman. I have contacted both Apple and Whirlpool everyday and have gotten no satisfaction at all. I just found out that I will have to wait until March 31st to have someone here. I have lost everything in the freezer and refrigerator and have no way to cool anything. I find this unacceptable but have no alternative but to wait until Whirlpool does something about it. I will never purchase any other appliance from them.

We had the refrigerator delivered in March, 2013. We noticed a leak in February 2014, only because we smelled a musty smell in our garage, and removed the rug outside the door, from the garage to the kitchen. Then we started noticing water in the garage. It was shortly after we determined it was the refrigerator. We bought this at Lowe's and they use A&E, and they did not show up for the first appt. They did replace the pan a few days later while we had to replace dry wall behind the fridge.
This time around (month later) we noticed the fridge/freezer was not cooling. So A&E came out and determined it's the compressor. So now we threw out hundreds of dollars of groceries, and water was leaking all over the floor again from ice thawing. I believe the refrigerator has had problems all along. We have had it for one year. I think we should be reimbursed for the compressor! That's the least Whirlpool can do after losing so much food and money spent on the wall, and all the water mess etc. I will never buy Whirlpool again, and I will never purchase from Lowe's again. We always bought at Lowe's, but this was a bad experience, and I get told one thing on the phone with reps and another by A&E.

We purchased our Whirlpool french door refrigerator with bottom freezer, model number WRF990SLAM02, from Lowe's in August 2013. In November 2013 we noticed a pool of water on the floor, resulting from what looked like a leak coming from the ice maker. After contacting customer service, they sent a repair company to service the fridge. This rep stayed no longer than 5 minutes and barely looked at the appliance. He said this is a known issue by the company, they have since implemented a fix in the newer models, and it just needed one replacement part and would be good as new. It did NOT fix the problem, it continued to worsen to the point where the freezer is no longer working. I have a freezer full of defrosted food that is not safe to eat.
Whirlpool finally agreed (after 3 months) to send another repair company to look at the fridge. This rep took over an hour thoroughly examining the appliance and concluded that it could not be repaired and would need to be replaced; otherwise, we could expect the same issue to keep recurring. Whirlpool did agree to replace the fridge, but has not been able to provide a timeframe. I was contacted by a representative from the product replacement line named Alisha, but she has never answered her phone I have returned her calls. I finally got a representative on the line who informed me I need to wait until I get a call letting me know the replacement product is in-stock.
That was 3 weeks ago, and this morning I woke up to a huge water leak coming from the fridge. Whirlpool has deflected the issue off to Lowe's, where I purchased it, and said they will have no further contact with me regarding the appliance. I will NEVER purchase another product from this company again. They seemingly left a faulty product on the market and failed to inform me about the known issue. Then they failed to quickly provide needed repair or replacement in a timely manner. They also refuse to reimburse me for the food loss, which would not have ever occurred had they handled the issue appropriately from the beginning. TERRIBLE company.

I purchased a Whirlpool Refrigerator in January 2014. When it was delivered it had a dent in the left side door (the door with the controls and ice-maker). I reported the problem to Whirlpool and they told me that they would send a new door and would have a third-party technician install it. About a month later, February 2014, the door arrived, after calling the technician; he came out and attempted to install the door. The door would not fit! Called Whirlpool and they told me that the refrigerators were produced one at a time and that they would have to manufacture a new door. They promised the new door sometime in May. In the meantime, I have a damaged unit and I need to store this huge box for months. The refrigerator works fine to keep the food cool and the ice and water features work well. The ice-maker is a bit noisy but it only operates occasionally.

The technician asked me to argue with Lowe's (I bought it from Lowe's), asked me to ask Lowe's to get a new replacement. I think it's because he didn't know how to fix it!!!!!!! Of course Lowe's pushed back to the factory warranty. Back and forth... I REGRET IT!!!!!!! I SPENT $2800 FOR THIS STUPID HORRIBLE JUNK!!!!!!! Once again, don't buy Whirlpool. After doing much research on refrigerators, I chose the Whirlpool with the French doors and bottom freezer. Within a month, I had to call the repair service. The freezer made a thick layer of ice on the bottom, wouldn't shut properly (I had to keep a heavy box in front of it to keep it closed) and frosted over all the food in it. On his second visit, the repair man told me that the company knows about the problem, that there was a problem in the design of the appliance, and created a piece to be installed in the machine to alleviate the problem. The problem has not been fixed with that added piece, and the repairman has been here a few more times. Now the freezer just randomly stops making ice on top of all the other problems it has. The retailer would not take the fridge back, and I refused to buy an extended warranty for an appliance that the company themselves knows is a lemon.

I purchased the French Door refrigerator only 7 months ago. It has been emitting a low pitched, loud, vibrating hum for days. I called the company and spoke with a well-trained representative who informed me that there needs to be a service call. When I mentioned that this did not indicate an acceptable situation for future dependability, I was pitched to purchase an extended warranty. Further… this company doesn't monitor Consumer Affairs. Quality and standing by a product are manufacturer qualities that were not evident during the call.

Water filtration unit was leaking only when someone got water. It pooled into the bottom of fridge and ran out under the fridge and because of the slope of the floor was running back towards the wall. We didn't notice until our laminate wood flooring was starting to swell up. It was probably leaking since the day we bought fridge brand new, but took us 4 months to notice. Whirlpool said they will not fix our flooring, only the fridge. We had to make a homeowners claim which we did.
When the contractor moved the fridge back after replacing all flooring it starting leaking from the ice maker unit. Only when the ice tray filled it would gush out water. Our flooring is now ruined a 2nd time and Whirlpool will not fix the floor. Repairman said that Whirlpool used rigid parts in the water and ice maker units and tons of people are having the same problem. Since there is no flexibility in these parts they break when the fridge is moved. Whirlpool sucks and I am fighting with them and Lowe's to get this fridge replaced with a non Whirlpool appliance. I will never buy Whirlpool again.

Three years ago I bought a bottom freezer Whirlpool Gold refrigerator from Lowe's. Two days after it was installed, I noticed a pool of water on the kitchen floor. This happened again. I called Lowe's and they brought out another refrigerator, same make and model, and took the first one away. A year later the same thing happened. I had it repaired - quite an ordeal for the technician. He had to order a part and found it difficult to actually get into the freezer. Now after a year and a half approximately the same thing is happening. I can't afford to continue the repair bills and don't like the inconvenience (what if this happens when I'm away from home?). The pool of water is substantial - it's as though the defrost is simply emptying through the front of the freezer onto my floor.

To Whirlpool Headquarters, Our message to those whom wish to listen is that your product is only as good as the service company you employ to handle service and repairs. Our most recent experience with A&E Factory Service has us convinced we will never buy Whirlpool appliances again. After a two week wait for our scheduled appointment we were dealt a most unprofessional diagnosis as to what may be the problem and then told that to service our appliance would result in overtime and that simply wouldn't be happening at this visit. The appointment time was 12 to 4 PM the repairmen was here at 2:30 pm only for five minutes. We have spoken with a Michael ** with your company who advised us to wait for a call from A&E which no call was ever received. We will be sharing our disgust with Home Depot where we purchased our refrigerator and alerting them to avoid further customer dissatisfaction by no longer promoting Whirlpool in our area. We are level headed and fair people just not able to grasp that a company as big as yours can't do better than this.

We purchased our Whirlpool refrigerator Model # WRT138TFYW on March 2012. We first started noticing that the eggs and the milk started to get icy. We lowered the setting from the normal setting to the lower setting. This seemed to work for about 5 months then things started to get icy again and this time it started making a loud noise. Then in August, we called Whirlpool, told them what it was doing as it was still under warranty. They sent out A&E, the biggest crooks I have ever dealt with as well as rude people. The service guy said it was probably the Frost board. He ordered the part and put it in. Afterwards, we asked him why it was still making such a ruckus. He told us this was normal. Now we aren't a professional and don't know about Appliances so we took the technician for his word.
Then this past December, the refrigerator wasn't cooling as good. The next day we noticed that things in the freezer wasn't freezing either. We called Whirlpool, told them what was going on and that they needed to get someone to fix it. This was when we found out that the refrigerator only has a one year warranty. I got them to agree to pay for parts and labor after getting down to the fact that this problem went back to the very first time while it was still under warranty. They sent out A&E Factory Service, again the biggest crooks there is. They checked the refrigerator and told us that the compressor and evaporator was bad. They ordered the parts and that was the last we saw of them. We got Whirlpool to send someone else. Now up to this point, I have to give them credit because they have been really nice.
Then when the other technician from Americus Appliance (Very good guy, would recommend to everyone) asked why both parts were ordered, we told him that the technician from A&E said it needed them. He then installed the Compressor and told us that there was nothing wrong with the Evaporator that he could tell. He then filled it with Refrigerant and the freezer was getting very cold. Then about an hour I went to check to see if the refrigerator part was getting cold and it wasn't. I checked the freezer at this time and noticed that the freezer was getting warmer. We then called the service guy and he checked the refrigerator. This was when he told us that there was a leak in the wall of the unit and it couldn't be fixed. We called Whirlpool and told them what the technician said and asked them what they were going to do.
They then said they would send everything to the exchange team and go from there. Now we are waiting to see if they will replace the refrigerator. Personally after having to replace a Brand New Washer a year and 2 months after the purchase and possibly now a refrigerator that is less than 2 years old. Buyer Beware. Check out the warranty on a GE. They have a better warranty on their refrigerators than Whirlpool does.

I purchased a new home in 2005 and equipped the kitchen with Whirlpool appliances. Every single appliance has broken at least once. The refrigerator ice-maker has been repaired once and replaced twice. Some of the control panel buttons on the dishwasher work some of the time. Other times we have to "strike" the panel to make them work. We've had to replace the handle on the microwave door twice at nearly $50 a pop. And the motherboard on the dual-oven has been replaced once. I will NEVER purchase another Whirlpool appliance for as long as I live.

There is a chronic and well-known problem with recent French door, bottom freezer refrigerators sold by Whirlpool, including the the brand names KitchenAid, Jenn-Air, Maytag, and Amana. The problem is caused when the defrost drain freezes, preventing defrosted water from reaching the evaporation pan. After enough water builds up, it overflows along the front of the refrigerator. In my particular case, we have wood floors and they were ruined by the water. After doing some investigation on the internet, I have learned that this problem affected approximately 1,500 model numbers sold under these names. These model numbers are listed in a Technical Service Pointer issued by Whirlpool.
In August 2013, after experiencing several years of problems with these units, Whirlpool issued a Technical Service Pointer W10632338, advising service technicians that a new "P Trap" drain tube kit was now available, and suggesting that the defective "duck bill check valve" should be replaced by this new part. The problem for years had been that the rubber duck bill check valve would, over time, become sticky (or tacky) and would then not open - causing water to build up above it. Eventually, the water would freeze and since newly defrosted water could no longer escape, it would build up and eventually overflow.
From what I've seen online, plus a conversation with the Sears technician who come out to diagnose and repair my leak, I am convinced there are many thousands of customers who have experienced this problem. Because it takes a while for the rubber check valve to become sticky and no longer open, it is not uncommon for the problem to not appear until after the standard one-year warranty has expired. From reports, Whirlpool has sometimes acknowledged the problem and effected repair of refrigerators no longer under warranty.
But what about those customers, like me, who have experienced water damage to floors and cabinets? Shouldn't Whirlpool be liable for those repairs, too? I'd be interested to know if anyone knows of plans for a class action lawsuit.

Whirlpool wrf560seyw00 refrigerator plastic tasting water - Purchased 22 months ago. Did not think a warranty was necessary. Even if I had a warranty, they say they wouldn't have paid on the claim. I called Whirlpool asking for a one time goodwill policy adjustment considering I've outfitted my home in all new Maytag/Whirlpool appliances over the past 3 years. In a nutshell, their plastic water lines to the dispenser in my fridge are deteriorating. There are plastic floaters and a horrible plastic smell and taste. You cannot drink it. First, they blame the filter mixing with the chlorine from my city water (go ahead and laugh... because that's just nuts) and when I told them I removed the filter two weeks ago and there are "floaters" in the water, they said my water still was to blame. Here's a thought... Don't use cheap plastic lines when you sell someone an expensive appliance! Is it really that difficult to offer a quality product? This is a smaller three-door unit (French on top w/ bottom freezer). There is no water holding tank because it's small and we have a copper supply line. My neighbors don't have trouble with theirs either. I may be female but I'm not an idiot. Maytag/Whirlpool corporation has lost a loyal 20 plus year customer.

This time when I called to schedule the repair call, the woman at the appliance store where I purchased this told me she also has a Whirpool refrigerator and she can't place any food on the bottom shelf of the refrigerator due to freezing. So this 21 cu ft refrigerator has a lot less usable space than I was led to believe when I purchased it. I would not recommend this product due to this reason. This is a comment for the person with the ice maker problem. I have a side-by-side, in-door ice dispenser that clogs up. First sign of problem is either the ice won't come out or it comes out crushed. What happens is frost builds up in the path the ice takes at a couple of different points. The only solution I have found is as soon as the problem starts I turn off the ice maker using the switch on the inside of the freezer. Then let it empty with normal use (if you wait too long you've increased your problems). The release button for the ice bin has frozen by now so you can't just lift it out. The bin needs to be empty. When it is empty, work the bin loose and take it out. You'll find that frost and maybe cubes have collected, frozen and blocked the passage.
Be sure to turn the ice bin on its side and spray water into the undercarriage to melt and remove all the ice build up there. I use a hot sponge to melt the frost in the ice tube and then dry everything. This gets messy so be prepared to have water on the floor. Dry the ice bin and reinstall it. Ice cubes will be ready to drop from the ice maker so it won't be long until you have plenty. I live in Florida with high humidity so need to go through this process about once a month. It's a pain, but now it is just part of owning this unit. Good luck and hope this helps.

Whirlpool Refrigerator Model # GI6SARXXF 04 Ice Maker - About nine months after purchasing this unit the ice maker began to stop working. I researched what the issue might be. During this time, the ice maker decided to begin working again. This occurred again about 15 months into ownership. At 19 months into ownership, the ice maker no longer works after approximately 5 weeks.
Whirlpool will not allow me to purchase an extended warranty. I was told by a CR on the phone. However, she did offer a Repair +1 service contract that cost $345.55. I advised the CR that on the Whirlpool website, I was offered an extended warranty for 2 years for approximately $165.00. After waiting for her to "check into my claim of being offered the extended warranty" for about 10 minutes, she came back to advise me that no "existing" issues would be covered. In other words, my $2000.00+ Whirlpool refrigerator is so crappy that Whirlpool only offers a 1 year warranty. And unless I pay $345.55 and/or a service tech charging $129 for a trip charge only, I will not have a working ice maker.
Additionally, the capacity for ice storage is extremely small, even for my 2 person household. At times, the ice comes out crushed even though the setting is for cubed ice. The ice shoot is great for taller glasses, but if trying to use a shorter glass, watch out! You will have ice all over your floor every time!

It would run for a few days or weeks then die again. Each time I lost a few hundred dollars in food. Each time I was on the phone for almost an hour, and each time it was days later before they would come. Whirlpool refused to refund or swap out the unit. I would have been stuck if it were not for Home Depot finally agreeing to exchange it for an LG.
I have never been so upset with any companies customer service in my 45 yrs. The only reason that I am writing this is because my Sony 65" TV died the other day. We purchased this refrigerator towards the end of 2008. The entire interior of the refrigerator is imploding. The plastic Whirlpool used to frame the glass shelves is cracking and shards are falling off. There are 3 drawers; one has already fallen because the plastic sliders the drawer moves along has disintegrated. We noticed the small hairline cracks appearing some time ago but never thought they would go to this extreme. Apparently the plastic used cannot stand up to cold temperatures.
I contacted Whirlpool's "chat" and was told that the product is out of warranty and I need to place a service call to get new parts. I proceeded to email the CEO of Whirlpool, Mr. Fettig because I don't believe I should have to pay for a service call when it's a manufacturing problem. I received a call the day after and was told the same thing; that they are sorry we are experiencing a problem but the warranty only covers the first year. I was told that if there was a problem with the plastic being inferior that they should have cracked in the first year. I responded that the cracks may have been occurring early on in the back of the refrigerator which is the coldest part but were noticeable.
It's very frustrating because a refrigerator purchase is expensive and not something that I planned on doing a mere 5 years later. I believe that Whirlpool at the very least could have shown goodwill towards their customers and given at least some discount on the replacement parts or at the very least a certificate with an amount off toward the purchase of a new refrigerator. It's a win-win situation for everyone because the customer is still happy with their Whirlpool refrigerator and/or it guarantees repeat business for Whirlpool. Whirlpool refrigerator Model#wrf98950am00\serial #K23405991 - I purchased $6950.93 in Whirlpool products in one day last year at HH GREGG in Lexington, Ky. The refrigerator was purchased on that day September 18, 2012 and my kitchen wasn't going to be ready until December, but I wanted all items bought for measurements (specs) for the new kitchen designer. HH GREGG delivered to my garage October 26, 2012 because "they couldn't hold any longer," but when we purchased that day they promised to hold till December when my kitchen would be finished. I have Proof from the kitchen installers the day they finished, December 28, 2012, was the day the appliances were installed.
Well here I sit typing this letter on January 7, 2014 and my Whirlpool refrigerator is as of right now is in need of a compressor while losing approx $1000.00 in purchased food. In other words, approximately $900.00 in repair cost. Isn't Whirlpool a large enough company to stand behind its products when I paid $2599.00 for this refrigerator for at least one year from installation instead of purchase date? My fiancee has been trying to work out a solution with Whirlpool and the parts are on back order now. For at least two weeks we have been without a refrigerator and have two young children. Doesn't it show that the parts being on back order from Whirlpool, barely being a year old prove the defective product is being sold to the public daily? I plan on going further with this action due to the name Whirlpool all over my kitchen which disgusts me. I'm going to write every columnist I can and do all I can with what little resources I have against this large company if no one helps us. This is absolutely an injustice against consumers...

My fridge stainless steel doors rusted on after Whirlpool Customer Service told me to buy and use "Affresh" (a Whirlpool product) to clean them! The fridge was only 12 days old when this occurred, imagine my shock and disappointment. Whirlpool Customer Service reps then sent me another one of their products 'Whirlpool Stainless Steel Brightener' with instructions to clean it every day for 3 weeks and it would resolve the 'rust' problem. It didn't resolve the rust problem. 2 repairmen from different companies have looked at the doors and shook their heads that Whirlpool's own Customer Service department recommended a product for a fridge that rusted it and then they take no responsibility for it! Whirlpool knows these stainless steel fridges have the potential to 'rust'. It's listed in their manual. Unfortunately, buyers aren't given a copy of that manual to peruse BEFORE they buy the product. I would never have purchased this Whirlpool fridge had I seen that! I have now since read of other Whirlpool stainless steel fridges rusting.

HOWEVER, my credit card, VISA, added a year of warranty and is paying the full amt for replacement. Now I have no idea what to get. Every brand, American or Japanese is not made to last. This is a defect due to the removal of the dispenser heater being removed. The insulation is inadequate behind the ice/water dispenser (@ 3 feet from the bottom of the door.) Replaced the line, thawed it out multiple times, added extra line under the fridge in the coils to try and warm up the water in the line between the 90 degree elbow connector and the dispenser... no luck. Since all the manufacturers' models are being assembled in Mexico, using the same designs, other models are have the same issue. GE is backing theirs with a replacement freezer door. We'll see if Whirlpool backs theirs. This whirlpool Gold is @ 3 years old and the issue started around a year ago.

It was delivered and installed by the retailer that sold the brand - however it sounds that Whirlpool would rather lose customers to other brands - trust me I just bought a stove and bet your sweet behind it was NOT a Whirlpool. From 2011-11/20/2013 we were issue free then the fridge over temp alarm sounded and we could not hear the fan motor. We had the certified tech come out to evaluate and found that the main control board needed to be replaced. Kitchen Aid/Whirlpool no longer make this item and forwarded us to Core Centric solutions to have a new one built.

We spoke with a customer service rep a Kitchen Aid and asked about a prorated discount on a new built in fridge and she said it seemed reasonable but after checking for authorization informed me I needed to have the board rebuilt at my own cost and that even though this typically takes about 4 weeks to build the fact that our family would be without a fridge is not Kitchen Aids problem.

The delivery people were very rude with me when I was unable to give them a tip, even though I had to supply my truck to shuttle the fridge up to my house and help them unload it. I also had to go and find them when they would not follow my directions to my house. So, they kept the wrench I loaned them; they did not have their own tools for the installation. And they refused to return it when I asked them to do so.
Denver's Customer Service refused to respond in any way to my requests for information or complaints about the noise and delivery. Finally, their head office contacted me a month or two later, and the customer service person had initiated the discussion in argumentative attitude despite my saying I did not care anymore, I gave up on them and don't expect anything from Whirlpool anymore. While she told me that there are standard levels of acceptable noise that come from their refrigerator, while, she refused to acknowledge that they are not my standards, and I am the customer, besides, I had an older Whirlpool fridge that did not make any noise. I called the repair company that I used to have my Whirlpool oven fixed (broke twice). That is when the manager gave me the lowdown on what has been happening with this fridge. He told me to call Whirlpool and have them pay for the repair and part and to research online, that it is a design flaw with the freezer and the p-trap and draining under the ice maker being not efficient.
I called Whirlpool and complained. All of my appliances are Whirlpool and I spoke to a Supervisor. To add insult to injury, 5-year extended repair warranty I purchased specifically EXCLUDES "drain lines", leading me to believe that this is a well-known problem that is costly to repair which is true because the drain line and pan on this particular model is nigh impossible to access without upending the unit (two people required) and accessing the bottom panel of the unit. We also had a problem with water pooling on the bottom of the freezer then freezing into a solid piece of ice. Water eventually started pooling on the kitchen floor and living room carpet. We did not purchase the extended warranty believing we shouldn't have had to as we were believing a good name brand. Next after just one year, the refrigerator would be warm and the freezer part ran super cold. The settings did not work. After much haggling with Whirlpool, they paid for someone to come out and repair it. It worked for several weeks then the same problem came back again. We argued with Whirlpool again and someone from AES or AAA came out.
The problem was fixed but once again came back again after a couple months. We called Whirlpool again. This time was much haggling and arguing but got them to come out a third time. Once again, the problem was fixed but came back again after several months. The repair company stated that if they found it was something other than what they fixed, we would be charged. I said either it was not fixed right or the refrigerator is a total lemon. I said you will probably just say it is something else to cover your costs.
Whirlpool acted like they did enough, even though 3 repairs could not get it right. If we paid or each repair ourselves, it would have been nearly the cost of the refrigerator and it still would not have worked. We bought a refrigerator back in 1992 and never had any problems after 16 years when we moved. The refrigerator was not cheap but could not do what refrigerators are supposed to do - keep things cold all the time. What a disappointment.

We were politely told that noise was normal, and that if the unit was working when the service man came out, we would be charged.
A few months later, the noise was constant, and we noticed that the temperature was not stable. Freezer was set to 0, Fridge to 36, yet the thermometer was reading 20 (freezer) and 38 (fridge). We called in, concerned that it was failing. We were put on a "schedule" for 9 days later. We were told we would get a call the day before with a 2-hour window when the tech would come. That didn't happen. We got a call that the tech would come between 8:00 am and 5:00 pm (he showed up at 5:35 pm).
We phoned in 3 days later to tell them that we were losing food (freezer was now showing 29, fridge 40). We were told (by both Westinghouse and by A&E Factory Service, which is Sears) that we should rent another refrigerator. When the service tech showed up, the first point of contention was that we had Whirlpool's warranty (and had paid for the extended warranty) rather than Sear's Master Protection agreement. Nevertheless, the tech finds that there is a problem with the evaporator coil, which had to be ordered from the factory. The tech was nice, and told us not to wait to be rescheduled, but to call him directly, and he would come the business workday after we notified him that the part arrived.

Whirlpool refrigerators with bottom freezers have a major defect in a tiny drainage hole hidden inside the back panel. The hole easily gets blocked with bits of debris during manufacturing or with a few bread crumbs, then it freezes shut. Then water ends up all over your floor. You cannot fix it yourself as you have to take apart the whole freezer. The repair bill is huge. This will happen often. Check on the internet and YouTube to verify & you will see that this happens to everyone with a Whirlpool. Also your floor will be ruined if you don't mop it up every few days until the repairman arrives! Stay away from Whirlpool!!

I have a similar problem with my stainless steel Whirlpool bottom freezer refrigerator, model EB9FVHRWS01, purchased in May 2011 from Sears Canada. Exactly a year later, right after the warranty expired, I started getting ice forming on the floor under the bottom freezer. I have been cleaning it out on a weekly basis for the past just over a year. If I don't clean it out, then water seeps out onto the floor. I purchased an extended warranty for my new stove but didn't for my fridge.
A co-worker had the exact same problem, with ice forming on the bottom freezer exactly a year later. He purchased the extended warranty and had the Sears repairman come in and replace a $50 part (box in back) ($150 labour). The repairman said this is a manufacturer's defect in these fridges and they've had many such cases. Apparently, the box in the back freezes up and water can't drain to where it's supposed to go to be evaporated so it drips to the bottom of the freezer. I contacted Whirlpool and inquired, and they said there was no defect or noted problems with my model. Now I'm contemplating whether or not I should spend the $200 and get the defective part replaced. Sigh.

I will never touch the "premier" Whirlpool Brand Again. This is the two door fridge + drawer freezer, model GI7FVCXWY0
After about a year, and I think it lasted this long because the ice maker was off during winter (because unless you use it constantly you have a solid block of ice), after a year it stopped making ice and poured water out from the top of the fridge. Expensive extended warranty came and replaced the Ice Maker, which (about a year later) has just started leaking all over the floor (again).
This I suspect was a protest against using all of the ice one day. It froze up, which causes the leak, froze solid items that were in the fridge compartment (and spoiled some items).
The other design fault is while the right hand door will stay open, the left will not, it closes. But it does not close properly - just enough to make you think it is closed.
Dangle beers in a nearby stream, keep your food in the cellar, dig a deep hole in the backyard, learn to eat all your food the day you buy it, but do not buy this fridge!

Just the mere fact that we have all purchased these high dollar products with complete confidence in the manufacturer should be enough reason to be heard! But it seems that no one is listening....... My refrigerator will be 3 years old in September. It stopped working two months after my warranty ended, in November Thanksgiving Day. I was so thankful that I had snow on my deck to keep everything cold. I had several family members in my house and watching my husband defrost a frost-free frig? This was a nightmare. Then a few weeks later, my husband company refrigerators did the same thing: freeze up and stop working. He defrosted theirs as well.
I know that lots of consumers have had the same issue with any of the bottom freezer refrigerator doing the same thing. I think we, consumers, should make these company recall these lemons. Why should we have to pay more and buy more our parents had their appliances last for years. He had done this approximately 3 times since my warranty ended in September of last year. The problem is the food goes bad, the freezer ices up, causing the refrigerator to ice up and stop the air flow.
I contacted the company and this is what they told me: I had to pay $295.12 to get the repair completed. It was the DEF control board. I guess others have the compressor go out and that cost over $600 to fix. Why is it our fault as a consumer buying their products promised and concern for 1 year, not 10 years. It is no wonder why America is broke? My question to the Whirlpool was, how on earth can this be the consumer's fault? Here is their reply:
"According to the model and serial number provided, we do not indicate that there are any known recalls with this particular model. A recall requires that a product poses a threat to a person's life or health. Since this is not the case in this instance, we do not have a recall. Once a product warranty has expired, any costs for maintenance, service, or component replacements are then within the owner's time frame of responsibility. Taking this into consideration, I regret to inform you that due to the age of the product, we will be unable to assist with the cost of the repair. If you have purchased an extended warranty, we would recommend contacting your extended warranty provider directly to discuss the options they provide."
Oh, they sent me a postcard asking if the repair service I received was good... Yes, the company who came out did a fantastic job. I think I may have to call them back; it is acting up again. I have 90 day warranty....

Sears wants to charge $75 per hour + parts as there is no extended warranty. Whirlpool says it's a common problem with most other Competitor models too. REALLY, IT'S NOT. Have checked with a lot of friends of mine with similar models. Nobody is having a problem with especially units hardly one and a half years old. My bro-in-law also bought a Whirlpool a year prior to mine. He is having no problems. See no reason to spend $300-$400 on a comparatively new unit. Then sometime in Feb. my freezer started to warm so I contacted Lowe’s service and they scheduled Tech. to come the following week. He found that freezer evaporator was freezing - suspected a leak and ordered one. Replaced that, and a short time later it was warm again. To make a long story short they have been to my house approx a dozen times replacing the freezer evaporator, control boards, adding refrigerate, and replace the reversing valve, and no time at all it was warm in the freezer again.
Tech could not find anything wrong with it and added a little refrigerate and the problem was solved... I thought! Two months later the freezer was warming again. Now they say it’s the evaporator on the cold food side has a leak and needs replacing. Been waiting two weeks now on parts. We purchased a brand new Whirlpool refrigerator in December 2012. It is model # WRF989BAM, a French door style with the freezer in the bottom. We have had problems with this refrigerator since a few days after it arrived. The first occurrence was when we arrived home one evening to find water all over the floor, and food thawing out inside the freezer. Everything had to be thrown out or placed in a different refrigerator.
I have no idea what that repairman did, but luckily that issue hasn't happened since. Something about the temperature controls. We have also had frost on the back inside panel, and it leaks inside the refrigerator constantly, so bad that we have to keep a large bowl inside to collect the water, and it has to be emptied two or three times a day. We have had two repairmen out to look at that. The first one installed a new filter, which seemed to fix the problem...for about a month until it started leaking again.
They tell us these filters must be replaced every 3-6 months...interesting as it says on the refrigerator every 6 months. Regardless, we can't get a filter, or any other parts that the repairmen "think" it might need because parts take months to arrive. We bought this refrigerator under the recommendation of a technician who came out to repair the refrigerator we were replacing. "Buy American" he said. They last longer and the parts are easy to get. What a joke!

The tech was just here and told me to put a thermometer in a glass of water and read it again. His thermometer read 46 deg when reading a bottle in the door although he explained that he had had the door opened for a while during his visit. He said his reading of the bottle upon opening the door was 36 deg. I do not believe that.
I just measured some bottled water temperature and it was 48 deg. I have a hard time believing the temp went up 12 degrees and he has been gone for a half hour. My food is cold but not like you expect from a refrigerator. My bottled water and soda, etc., are not very cold. The worst is the water dispenser. That water is barely cooler than tap water. There is almost no difference. The water temperature has been in the 60s when I've measured it. The tech says the first glass won't be cold (have never had that with any other refrigerator) but even if you get the second and third glasses of water, they aren't any colder... maybe a couple of degrees. If anyone else is having this problem and Whirlpool will do nothing, then I'm interested in legal action.

Then a smell started coming from the fridge every time the fan came on. We called before the warranty was up and talked to Whirlpool, and they said that we must have put something smelly in the fridge that caused the plastic to absorb the smell (which we didn't). They told us to put baking soda in and change it everyday. No change. They kept telling us there is no way it could be giving off a smell for any other reason and if they sent a tech out, we would have to pay for it. Trying to intimidate us until the warranty was up.
Then after a month or so, the bottom mount freezer starts leaking water all over the wood floors every 3 days. At first we turned off the water line, but then realized it is coming when the freezer defrosts. We had to redesign the plate at a local welding shop for Whirlpool in order to get it repaired. The freezer is rusting on the inside. It's leaking water from the drain pan. When the drain pan area freezes up, it sounds like a Boeing 747 throughout the house. We have had the repairmen out so often we've decided to invite them to the annual family barbeque. Are there lemon laws for appliances?

We bought a Whirlpool refrigerator, model ED5LVAXWSOO. Although we didn't need or want the ice/cold water dispenser, we bought the model anyway. We have never hooked up nor used the ice maker/water dispenser. As the refrigerator was powering up upon its initial start-up after delivery, we found that condensation was leaking from the ice maker on the door. Upon closer inspection, we found that the "hatch cover" was not sealed and actually jiggled around when the door was opened or closed.
A service man came, had difficulty with the issue, but eventually said he fixed it. It didn't leak again for almost three years. Then the exact same problem. (Remember, the component is still neither hooked up nor used.) Apparently, the opening and closing of the doors eventually caused the same defect to reappear. Of course, since the warranty has expired, Whirlpool sees no obligation on their part. But the value of a product is not based on a limited-time warranty, but on how the product holds up. This has to be a manufacturing or design defect as it came from the factory broken, and eventually the same problem re-appeared even though there was no wear and tear on the component, as it is not used. These products are much too expensive to begin failing after a few years.
I would caution buyers based on the product being delivered broken (where's their quality control?), its lack of durability even when not being used, and the Company's disavowal of any responsibility beyond the limited warranty period, even though it is a recurrence of the original problem (which to me means that it wasn't properly repaired/corrected during the service visit). Whirlpool eagerly grabbed our hard-earned money, but delivered an inferior product made worse, in turn, by its sub-standard service and lack of accountability.

I purchased refrigerator in 2010 through Sears. The freezer door began collapsing (like the air was being sucked out) and Whirlpool sent a replacement. I should have known at that point - they had over 20 in stock instead of "making it to order with a several week wait" as the rep expected. I complained again (out of warranty for the refrigerator, but less than a year for the replacement door) and was given the "too bad, so sad - next question" routine. Now the freezer won't hold frozen food. If I turn up the dial, I end up with frozen lettuce, etc. So much for Whirlpool! I'm not so much angry at this point as I am "talky" - at the grocery store to perfect strangers, at church, etc. I'm disappointed that Consumers didn't respond - they still rate Whirlpool fairly high - makes me doubt Consumers, too.

Approximately 2 years after purchasing a Whirlpool Gold side-by-side/counter depth refrigerator, I noticed cracks on the interior walls. This was in 2011. First, I contacted the service contract people. They told me this was not covered under the policy. Next, I wrote & called the company. They told me they could send someone out to "EPOXY" the walls. I told them this was not at all acceptable to me and that I believe this is a defective product. I have never heard of this happening to a refrigerator. I am also quite concerned that there are toxins emitted through these cracks. After a time with no response, I wrote them again.
This time, they referred me to Ms. Alicia ** at the Exec. Offices. She wrote asking me to call her. After making several calls & leaving messages to no avail, I wrote her asking that she kindly write back to inform me what the company was going to do about this defective product. I can't help thinking they did not want to commit to anything in a letter because I never heard from her or anyone else at Whirlpool. Small Claims Court cannot help as the company does not have an office in New York. I am very worried about the possible health hazard this possesses. I am very careful to completely cover all food inside the refrigerator. At this point, the cracks have increased in size and new ones have appeared. I am very upset over the lack of concern and lack of response from Whirlpool.
I've owned many Whirlpool appliances through the years and trusted the brand. This is not a cheap appliance. Consumers don't expect to spend a few thousand dollars on a product just to dump it in a year or two. Given the size of the Whirlpool Corp., anyone would think they would simply replace their defective product to keep their reputation if not for the health concern of their customers, which should be a priority. Over the past few years, I have had increased respiratory problems and so have other family members. I believe it's due to the emissions from the cracks. I will have to dump this defective refrigerator before it gives me cancer! Thanks Whirlpool, great doing business with you.

Whirlpool fridge still freezes water in the bottom of freezer... after five service attempts. We purchased a five-year warranty and so far, they claim that as long as the warranty is good, they will continue to warranty it. We now have three and a half years left.
We have currently owned our refrigerator for just over a year (approx. 18 months). During this time, it has had the same warranty repair issue that has been serviced five times so far. We now have an appointment for a sixth time since RC Willey does not want to fix a lemon the right way. The first three warranty repairs were under the manufacturer's warranty. We are now under a warranty (extended) that was purchased from the place we bought the fridge from, RC Willey.
I want my money back on the whole deal. I was going to be civilized about it because I thought they were common sense decent place to buy from. I thought they would, through common sense, realize that this unit is a lemon and allow credit towards another fridge. In just the past two years, we have bought from RC Willey over $10,000 worth of flooring, appliances, etc. and that's not counting previous years.

If only one shelf was cracking, it could be my fault; but since all are cracking (some on the front, some on the back and some in multiple places), I believe this is a design flaw and should be covered by the manufacturer. We bought a brand new basic refrigerator, freezer on top, no frills, no ice maker, no water dispenser (model #WRT359SFYB) in Dec. 2011. For months, things on the bottom shelf of the fridge would freeze. The more we turn the control dial down, the more things would freeze. Finally, everything stopped freezing, including everything in the freezer. After having to throw everything out, we called for service. One year and 4 months out from our purchase date and without an extended warranty, we were offered no help. The repairman said that we had a leak as a result of poor manufacturing and there was no refrigerant left. He filled it but said he needed to check with Whirlpool to see if they would cover the repairs. It turns out they won't.
I called them myself and spoke with a manager who offered no options at all, other than paying more than the price of the fridge to have it repaired. I asked if they were okay with their product having such a short life, filling landfills and causing such problems for their customers to which she replied that they are man-made and have no life expectancy. Crazy! For a manufacturer of large, costly appliances, one would think they would stand behind their product more. She also said that she would file my complaint and would have let me know if there was a recall on the fridge or any of its parts. It appears to me that others have had similar complaints. I wonder what warrants a recall. I will never buy Whirlpool again.

The A&E service company said to use plastic bags and then said I should keep the bin drawers open at an inch so air could flow. Next call said vacuuming underneath would solve it. On 3/31/2012, we purchased a Whirlpool refrigerator (model #ED5FVGXWS07, serial #HR14602963) from the electronic appliance store called SuperCo, located at 17523 Colima Road, City of Industry, CA. Within around a month, we noticed that things kept in the refrigerator all showed weird phenomena; raw eggs were frozen inside the shells and ice is frozen on food and utensils stored, not in the freezer, but on the fridge side. At the same time, all food kept in the refrigerator turned bad easily, especially during summer time. Cooked food went bad and had a bad smell within just three days of being kept in the fridge. Also, the ventilator-like part on top of the fridge (the part which released cold air) had ice frozen around it from time to time.
Obviously, the fridge was not working, as the freezer was not cold enough and the side was either making food turn bad or causing ice to freeze on stuff kept inside. The temperature seemed to be extremely uneven inside. We then asked SuperCo for repairs or a replacement, but they refused and referred us back to the manufacturer, Whirlpool. Repair services have been called three times on 2012, according to the paperwork records I have: a) on 5/31/2012, bad damper was broken and replaced; b) on 6/7/2012, (according to paper records from SuperCo), replaced parts; and c) on 6/20/2012, turned ice maker off and cleaned (the hand writing was hard to read).
Then, around December of 2012, after the services, we experienced another great problem with this fridge again. When ice cream was kept in the freezer, they appear to have melted and my brother suffered from diarrhea after eating the ice cream. The ventilator-like part on top of the fridge still had ice frozen around it. We then took pictures as fresh vegetables kept at the bottom drawer of the fridge had ice frozen on it, too. I finally emailed Whirlpool through their official website on 2/7/2013 and asked for a new fridge replacement based on the Lemon Rule. An e-solutions specialist, Judy, replied that the product was warranted for a specified time period for repairs, not the replacement of the product, and Whirlpool declined my request for a replacement.
Repair service was then requested by me for the fourth time, through email. On 2/21/2013, this fourth repair company came and checked the fridge. After a detailed inspection, the technician concluded that some parts of the fridge needed to be replaced, one of the parts called the thermostat. Strangely, after he called his company, he changed all that he said before and claimed that the fridge was 100% working and that no repairs were needed at all. Even when we showed him the frozen vegetables from the fridge side that we got recently, he insisted that the fridge had no problems at all and left.
The way Whirlpool responded to my request was extremely disappointing, with their refusal to replace the fridge after three complete repair visits, and the fourth visit changing the inspection conclusion with no reason. Of course, the disappointment is greatest with the extremely bad quality of this electronic appliance. As of this moment, my fridge could still not keep food well and is causing us bad health. I think the only way I could go to now is to take action against the company for the lemon refrigerator, for breach of warranty, and maybe fraud.

The fridge is kept at number 1 of 5 for coldness. All foods are left on counter to cool, but three times over my Christmas holidays this year when I swore I would throw this fridge in the garbage - the drain froze, water all over the fridge, food having to be removed and placed in other people's fridges, blah blah. Now it did it again this weekend! There are only two living here. I work all day and no one even opens the fridge much and again this happened.
I'm really sad that such a faulty product (too much insulation hiding the drain pipe behind the fridge and it must be much too small in diameter; otherwise, it wouldn't freeze up). Talking about work. We have two fridges there with 50 people using them all day and they run perfectly for the last 8 years that I have been there. So I think it indicates that my fridge is faulty. The staff at Whirlpool was as uncooperative as is possible. They "smiled" and lied to my face during phone calls - anything to get me off the phone.
During the next 4 months (till Nov.), techs came out 5 times, never having the part "needed" on the truck. Always, it was "my fault" somehow that my stuff was freezing. Their chosen "tech" service employees were rude, condescending and without knowledge. Five service calls, 3 parts replaced and numerous calls to Turner & Whirlpool got me nothing but stalling tactics. On the 11th of Nov., I awoke to totally frozen-up coils which kept the fridge box from cooling. We had company here from out of town. We moved out the new fridge, moved back in our 21-yr-old unit and got through till our visitors left. Whirlpool has been completely unresponsive to my appeals for some relief from this fiasco. We purchased a Whirlpool refrigerator from Conn's Appliances on 2/2/12. It worked fine until about 2 months ago. Then it started freezing food in the refrigerator. We called Conn's, and they sent a technician to replace the thermostat. A couple of days later, it was still freezing food. So we called Conn's again. They sent a second technician. He called Whirlpool tech support, and they told him to adjust the position of the thermostat sensor. A couple of more days went by, and food was still freezing. The problem had gotten even worse.
I called the manager at Conn's and suggested that we should consider replacement since the previous 2 technicians were unable to solve the problem. He sent a third technician. Tech #3 called Whirlpool tech support and re-adjusted the sensor. He said there wasn't a lot they could do and that if I wanted to get it replaced, I would need to call Whirlpool.
I called Whirlpool Customer Service and explained everything that had happened. They told me they would need to send another technician. I asked why, since 3 technicians had already looked at it. She said there were different levels of service and they would have to send someone from their authorized service company, as if Conn's is not authorized. I asked if this problem was common in this model of refrigerator. She said she could research that if I could hold, so I said ok. After being on hold for several minutes, she came back and said she couldn't find any record of this being a repetitive problem.
I didn't have a thermometer, and I thought if I had more concrete evidence of the problem, then maybe they would replace the refrigerator. So I put a glass of water in the middle of the top shelf. Within 24 hours, it was frozen solid as an ice cube!
Technician #4 came and called Whirlpool tech support. This time, they told him that this had been a problem ever since this model came out and they had a fix that had been on the books since day 1. So the customer service lady obviously lied to me. Technician #4 stuffed a piece of Styrofoam in the hole where the air comes from the freezer into the refrigerator and he re-adjusted the thermostat sensor. I asked if we could just replace the unit and be done with it, but he said we had to wait and see if his "fix" worked.
I went to Ace Hardware and bought a refrigerator thermometer. Two days later, we had frozen strawberries, frozen lettuce, frozen milk, and even the meat and cheese were freezing. My thermometer said temperature was 32 degrees. I called Whirlpool back and insisted that they replace the refrigerator. They told me "The unit was not authorized for replacement and they needed a 2nd opinion." I was very angry. I told them there had already been 4 opinions and a 5th wasn't necessary. I wasn't getting anywhere, so I asked for a supervisor. They transferred me to someone named Sue. Sue told me the same thing - not authorized, need a 2nd opinion. I told her that I work at The Men's Wearhouse and that if a customer spent that much money on a suit and had trouble with it, they certainly would not have to bring it back 5 times to have it re-tailored. I asked to speak to her supervisor. She said, "Sir, my supervisor doesn't speak to consumers." I could not believe my ears. Where would they be without consumers? I was so mad I hung up on her.
Later, I realized I had no options and called to request the "2nd opinion." I was told that the technician could authorize the unit for replacement. They also told me I couldn't get a technician for a week because their technicians were all booked up repairing their faulty products. I had no choice but to wait. I moved my thermometer to the bottom of the refrigerator to see if the temperature was the same there as on the top. The temperature there fluctuated between 28 and 34 degrees. I called Conn's to tell them the story, thinking maybe they would go to bat for one of their customers. They told me this should never have happened and that the matter should be escalated to their home office and that a manager would contact me within 30 minutes. He never called.
Two days after that phone call, I went to Conn's to speak to the manager. I told him the whole story and told him that if Whirlpool would not replace the refrigerator, then I would have no choice but to contact Discover (my payment method for the original purchase) and dispute the charges. I pointed out that even though it should be Whirlpool paying for it, his store would take the hit if Discover reversed the charges. He called someone and told me a Conn's service manager would contact me within 48 hours.
More waiting. Technician #5 came. I told him he was to authorize the unit for replacement. He said he couldn't do that and that Whirlpool tells all their customers that just to get them off the phone. He re-adjusted the temperature sensor and left. I was livid. Now the problem went the other way. The temperature wouldn't go below 50 degrees. We filled an ice chest with food and ice and began living out of it. The Conn's service manager called and said he would have to send a technician. This would be #6. I was very angry with the service manager and called Discover to dispute the charges. Discover opened an investigation, sent a letter to Conn's (and maybe Whirlpool, I'm not sure) and issued a credit to my credit card account.
#6 came and re-adjusted the thermostat sensor. The next morning, he called to see how it was doing. The temperature was still around 50 degrees. He wanted to come and adjust it again. I told him to get the unit replaced! So he submitted paperwork to request a replacement. He called back and said that he felt sorry for us because he knew we had a 3-month-old baby in the house. Since the replacement had been requested, Conn's wouldn't pay him to come again; but he said he would come on his own time, on his lunch break, and readjust the sensor in hopes that it would get us by while we waited for a replacement. He said it might take 3-4 days to get the replacement. I told him he could come, so this was technical visit #7. He adjusted the sensor. The next day, the temperature was still 50 degrees.
I called the service manager at Conn's to confirm that they had requested the replacement. He said the paperwork was submitted, that the home office would review it, make a decision, and that we should know something in "a couple of days." That was on Wednesday. On Monday afternoon, I called him again. He said the paperwork wasn't submitted to home office until Saturday and that he was expecting to hear from them by end of day Tuesday. In the meantime, we were still living out of an ice chest.
I had already determined that Whirlpool wasn't going to help me, and now, Conn's was giving me the runaround. That afternoon, I was working on a project at work with a lady who was fairly new in our company. Turns out she used to work at the Conn's home office and she knew people in high places there. She called a VP on my behalf. The next morning, I got a call from the VP telling me that I could get a replacement. I don't think I would have gotten my replacement if I hadn't bumped into the lady who used to work at Conn's.
I called Conn's store, and they said a credit had been issued and I could come to the store and pick out whatever I wanted up to the amount of the credit. I knew I didn't want another Whirlpool. The selection was very limited, but I found a Frigidaire that I thought might work. Then they told me I would have to pay extra for an ice maker, even though I had bought the ice maker for the Whirlpool that was being replaced. I argued with the manager until finally he agreed to give me the ice maker, delivery, and installation.
Yesterday, Conn's called to tell me they were coming in the afternoon to install the refrigerator. They had the audacity to ask me what was the matter with the unit they were replacing! They did come and replace the unit. But wait...That's not all! This morning, the ice maker had not made any ice, even after running all night long. Conn's sent a technician today, and he said all of the parts were not installed and it was preventing proper water flow. He is coming back on Tuesday to install the missing parts. So we still aren't done. I don't know if I'm more angry with Whirlpool or with Conn's. Whirlpool did not honor their warranty and Conn's got stuck with it. But then Conn's provided poor service too. I got stuck in the middle, and it still isn't fully resolved.

After just 2 years, the electronic control board failed. The temperatures are stuck on the coldest/high mode for both the freezer and the refrigerator, spoiling some foods. The parts and repair are going to be $300. Whirlpool will not replace the defective part or pay for any repairs. Shame on Whirlpool! Model No. GB2FHDYWQ01.

The refrigerator I have is 3 years old and the service tech will be at my house on Thursday to put the third comp. in it. I have lost all my food 2 times. Times are hard. I would like to talk to a person not a machine.
