The men who installed my SunSetter were excellent in their knowledge and mechanical ability. They did the task in jig time, were polite and agreeable and a pleasure to have around. We are very well pleased. They showed upon at the time they said they would and left with all of the packing material. They spent their time efficiently and expertly.

The awning works fine. It has good quality. However, I thought it was getting a cover, and it had no storage cover when it's up against the house. Now I got to order another part. That should’ve come with it.

We got a SunSetter awning through a dealer here in the local area and he did a good job of explaining it. But he didn't ever tell us about the emails we would be getting from SunSetter offering rebates on this and that. I'm a little bit disappointed with SunSetter in that they don't pass all these deals through on their dealers. They said, "We can get you $900 off on the SunSetter awning." This was after we had the awning already installed. They don't even know I have an awning put up so something's slipping in their system. They can't give me any rebate anymore according to them, even after I called them up and talked to them. Others should contact SunSetter first and get the rebate before they send it over to a dealer 'cause sometimes the dealers don't pass that rebate through. Other than that, the quality of the awning is great.

We searched around for someone that could be there quickly and SunSetter was. The guys were excellent and set it up right. They hung out in my powder room for a little bit till the rain eased off but they worked and finished it. They did a nice job and the quality of the awning is fine. It's lighted and full length.

Easy appointment ability, sale rep. on time and very knowledgeable of product. Waiting time 6-8 weeks for custom manufactured and installed as stated. Spot-on at 8 weeks. Installation crew paid close attention to details, very nice to talk with and spent time with me demonstrating operate and answering all questions. Scheduling worked great with us to pick a dated that worked for us. We needed a small adjustment; company came back out with no problem. Awning works great. Very pleased.

I love the awning and the company that installed it was wonderful to work with. My only complaint is I paid for the upgrade to have the drop-down extension to block the sun as it is setting thinking it would be the same gray color of the awning. However, it is a cream color and does not block the sun at all. I am disappointed. I paid extra for this feature. Is it is very misleading. I was also disappointed at all the offers I keep receiving of free items with a purchase (grill, wind sensor, etc.) yet I do not qualify through the vendor and would have had to buy direct.

I had an awesome experience. SunSetter did what they said they were gonna do. Everything was presented and options were given to me, and everything went smoothly. The installation team made sure that they were connecting the awning to something solid. I had pre-located the studs in the wall and where the solid headers were for them so it made their job a lot easier. They were cool and did a good job.
We're happy with the SunSetter awning. We've had it for a month now and so far, so good. It's a little pricey, but I feel it's worth it because of what it does. It's a relatively cheap way to put more living space out of your house by the flick of a button. We enjoy our patio and you can't put a price on making that patio more enjoyable on the time we spend out there away from the sun. They've warned me about the wind though. I plan on doing everything we can to heed those warnings and precautions to try to get the most out of it. When we leave the house, we make sure we bring the awning back in. I also paid for the extra warranties on it as far as covering the parts, but not labor type thing, which the rep explained.

I would never order something from SunSetter again in any capacity. The awning I ordered was lost (either by SunSetter or the shipping company - no one would tell me who screwed up) and it took weeks of calling SunSetter (and multiple hours on the phone) to finally get them to admit it was lost and to manufacture a new one. During these many phone calls, the call center individuals were not helpful, indifferent or in some cases rude and laughed at me for wanting this awning so I can protect my new son from sun exposure. After the second awning was manufactured, it was not trackable during shipping for most of June and I had to again spend hours on the phone and calling the shipping company again to find out when the second one would be delivered. It finally got here beginning of July after ordering it in April. The worst home improvement experience ever. Do not do business with SunSetter ever!!

The salesperson helped me along. About a couple of weeks into the sale, we decided to move the awning from the overhang to underneath. They made that adjustment with no problem. It was a great installation as well. The guys came out and were friendly, very professional and knowledgeable. I liked them. They brought the awning and the boxes in the backyard. They got it up there, showed me how to operate it, and cleaned up the mess. We like the SunSetter awning. It's keeping our back wall nice and cool. The only problem I have with it is if it gets windy, I won't have it fully extended. I'll drop it down a few feet so it doesn't rattle. I wish I had gotten the electric one.

The awning that was installed was exactly what I needed. The awning itself is handsome and looks really good both extended and not extended. It covers my patio very well and provides much needed shade. I extend it even when I am not sitting outside to deflect the sun that comes in strongly from the patio direction. Very happy with it and now awaiting a privacy screen to complete the picture. Great product!

SunSetter always sent us mails regarding them. We were gonna go to the store and buy a store brand awning, but we had heard people say that SunSetter is a really great awning with good price and good installation team. The salesperson came in, sat with us, showed us all the fabrics and helped us make decisions on which one was best for us. The only hiccup was the installation team thought that the awning was being delivered to us but it got delivered to them. They had to drive it over to us. They said it wasn't our fault so they'd call SunSetter and figure it out with them. They figured it out without having to bother us. The SunSetter awning has been a wonderful purchase. It's something that we use almost every day at this point in the summer.

Love our Platinum Plus SunSetter awning! We ordered a motorized 20’ Sunbrella in Bay Crest Sky to over our back addition. This room has 6 windows and, because of new construction behind us no longer is mostly shaded - we now get full sun. Without the awning we’d have to keep our shades drawn and our mini-split system would have to work much harder to keep the room cool in summer. One touch up/down is so convenient. It has added a new outside living area for us. Installation was done by our contractor quickly and easily. Very happy with this purchase.

This install was already delayed because the awning went 'missing' while being shipped. So now we were told we have to wait another month (which already being delayed almost a month because of the shipping 'misplacement') because it can't be shipped more quickly. The men who came and installed our SunSetter awning were very nice. The only feedback I would give is to watch when you go through a third party like we did. We went through the SunSetter website and inquired about it, but you can't get it directly from SunSetter. You have to go through a third party and our third party did not abide by SunSetter rules. SunSetter had something where if you were dissatisfied, you had a return window. Ours did not and we didn't find out about that until later. They also don't honor the warranties. It was very disappointing. We felt misled. But the product is very good. We got an Oasis which is very nice. It's just a retracting umbrella when it comes down to it but we like it.

I know it is a cliche but Sun Setter does not even deserve this one star. I had a Sun Setter rep Sarah ** sell me an Awning. She under-spec the awning to the point that it only covered half of my porch. I told Sarah she sold shade not awnings and one of the reason that I bought the awning was according to the website it states that "Professional in-home consultation. Our dealers provide a full consultation in the comfort of your home to help you select the right model and size to fit your needs." Her answer is that she sells awnings not shade.

I ordered my electric retractable Sun Setter awning the end of April 2024 and the delivery and coordination experience with Sun Setter has been a big disappointment. This is a second home and I have coordinated two deliveries that they have not fulfilled. Unfortunately, I have spent money on flights to ensure I was at the house, and these will never get reimbursed, and I have lost my installers. The communication has been horrible as they didnt even have the courtesy to call me and tell me they were not showing up for the scheduled deliveries. At this point, I call every day and still I have no firm delivery date and the only feedback is that the awning is sitting in a local shipping facility. I'm aware that there are multiple parties in this transaction, but I blame Sun Setter for not helping facilitate the delivery of my product. As of 6/21/24, I have no answers.

I'm a little bit disappointed with my SunSetter awning. The size might be too big. My backyard gets a little gust and it looks like a kite. And I don't know if I got the right style. I'm also not thrilled with it because I have to baby it. If I am leaving for the house then I put it in because I never know if it's going to be windy later. It just didn't dawn on me it would come with that kind of responsibility to take care of it that way. It was awfully expensive, too.

I didn't realize that the awning was being delivered and I had to contact SunSetter to say it was and I had to schedule the installation. I thought they would take care of all of that and just notify me. So, that was weird. I'm a little concerned because the awning doesn't drain water. Even when it rains a little bit, it pools on top. So, I need to remember to shut it. One time, we had a downpour and there was a big pool on top of it. But the quality is good. I got the premium fabric and that's supposed to last 10 years.
I had one question that I didn't get a call back on. And the other thing was I was concerned about the exposed wire on the outside of the wall. The tech had shown me a picture of a wire cover to blend in, which was one of the reasons why I said I would go with the awning. But when the techs installed it, they didn't know anything about it and told me to call the salesperson. And I did. I left a couple of messages and I did not get a return call on that. I had asked twice so I just gave up.

SunSetter seemed to be the best and like everybody else, we were looking for a discounted price. At that time, there was a Costco promotion that lowered the price of the awning. I got a motorized one and after I ordered it, I called SunSetter. We live right in the suburb of Atlanta and I asked if they had somebody they could recommend to install it. To my shock, the girl said no. She told me to check with Home Depot or Ace and ask if they have an installer. The guy in Home Depot said he didn’t have anybody he could trust to be able to put his name on. So I went to Ace and the guy said he had a guy who does the job himself. He uses pulleys and ladders. It took the guy a long time and when he was done, the awning looked good but it didn't look right. I did some research and found out that there were a bunch of things he didn't do right. When he opened it up, it was straight across. It wasn't in an angle.
Meanwhile, as soon as I hired this guy and he started, I got an email from SunSetter saying that they passed my name onto a local installer that they use. They called me and I told them to send me their information if I needed any service, and they did. This past Monday, an installer came over and he had a SunSetter T-shirt on. It took him half an hour to fix the awning. I had to pay a little more money to get it fixed correctly, but it's fine now.
The only thing is, the installer lost a magnet that they need to use. So I called SunSetter yesterday and they're sending me that whole piece to install it. That installer lives 10 minutes from our house and told us to call him if we don’t want to put the magnet in. He’d be happy to come and do it again. It's like a little box that you have to put on. There's a certain spot that you put it on the awning where if the wind gets too violent, that closes it up. We don't leave the awning open anyway and we're not there, but just in case. That's part of what we paid for. I'm gonna try to set it myself. If I can't, the installer will come out and do it. By getting the awning, we can bring the kids out there now because the sun doesn't beat the heck out of them. I also got a whole new deck because we had some bad wood. I did that at the same time. So, it's fun. I would buy from SunSetter again and I would recommend them to my friends and family.

We contacted SunSetter in February and that was when they were just starting to go around to your house and measure it and give you a quote. We were their second customer for this year. We had talked on the phone with some of the people but we didn't know what we were doing in terms of measuring it so the gentleman came out and did a great job. He gave us some ideas that we didn't even think of in terms of the size. We got the electric part and everything came together beautifully. The guys who did the work had it done in four hours and they suggested having our electrician come in after it's up. Their workers wouldn't know what to do with so that was a good idea. Then, I got the LED lights that go underneath it and it's just beautiful.
The only thing I had to call SunSetter on was that I couldn't remember and it doesn't say it in the manual on how to turn on those LED lights. You get a remote but I may have to call them again because I didn't write it down. We got to take the shade that comes down in the front. We got a few bells and whistles but everything that SunSetter promised came true. I got all the pros and I got no cons. The customer service has been wonderful and they're not gonna make you feel stupid. They were very good at explaining things to us.
SunSetter gives you a pamphlet of the expensive one and looking at the sizes, we thought we should be having a smaller one. But if we put up the size that we originally looked at, which was cheaper, we would never be able to get a table in here. When we looked at it initially and we saw the pricing, we never thought we would need something this big. So, we looked at a less expensive one. Once we saw what we had bought, we recognized that the advice they gave us in terms of getting our location was more what we needed than what we had initially been looking at. And we both said to ourselves if we had gone with that original thing that we would have been dissatisfied and then it was too late to do anything about it once you get to it. So, I'm happy with it. This is what we wanted. All of our neighbors who came over and looked at it loved it too. We've invited them for drinks and they will come. So, it works out well with our house.
Everything about the awning is fabulous. When we were looking at it, the way we pictured it was different than what came out, and what came out was better. We're loving our new awning. It’s a quality material. I watched the installers put it up and they were masterful. They got it all up there very quickly and took their time making sure they hit all the studs with the lag bolts. We bought it with the 10-year warranty because with our due self-exposure, we'd be better off with a 10-year warranty rather than a 5. And the choices of the colors were even better with the 10. So, we're happy campers.

The awning is very good quality. We live in the Pacific Northwest, and we have used it a bit. It goes in and out fine. However, there was a bit of an issue. The plug-in for the electric motor on the awning ran down the side of the house. They put two nails with a connector in it (like staples). They go around the corner, and they hammered them in. They didn't use a staple gun, but when they were doing that, it was close and tight. They damaged some of the trim work there and knocked off some of the paint. I was a little upset about that. I contacted SunSetter, and they made that good, so we're satisfied. My neighbor put in an awning next door, and they had the same company put it in, but they didn't ask us. SunSetter's team did a good job. The awning is very good quality but it doesn't cover the whole patio. And it doesn't do a good job when the sun is full up. But it's okay. It's just the way that the house is situated and where the sun goes down. And that's the way it is.

I called SunSetter and they came down. They measured then said I could get the 20 footer and that I could do it electrically. I said yes to that it because I didn't want to sit here and start opening up an awning by hand that size. When their techs had it put in, they did a really good job doing it. Yesterday was the first time it rained on our awning. It was just a quick shower and when it was done, I could see the water pooled a little bit in the middle, but towards the end because it is on a slope. I took a broom in the soft part, pushed it up, and got the water out. And I kept it out a little bit longer, maybe a quarter of the way out, just for the sun to get it dry it up and it did okay. Then I put it back in. It's a great awning. I got the color that I wanted and they put it up very professionally.
So far, my SunSetter awning is working well and it looks good. But they're saying towards the end of the season I can take out that one piece for the winter and I don't know how to do it because I was not here when it was installed. I have to call and have someone show me what I need to do because I don't want to do that myself. I don't want to ruin it then have them telling me it was my fault.

SunSetter lost our order and they delivered it six weeks later than when they said they were going to deliver it. We ordered it at the beginning of February and we got it two weeks ago. I wanted to cancel the order and they wouldn't let me cancel it because they said it was a special order. But they had no idea where the awning was and it kept going on and on. In the meantime, I contracted a different awning company to put an awning in for me, but SunSetter wouldn't give me my money back and the dealer wouldn't cooperate. So I had no choice but to wait it out.
We had plans for a party that we wanted the SunSetter for and we ordered this thing way ahead of the time to make sure that we had it for that particular event but we didn't have it. So we were a little upset about that. Finally, they said they found it and they offered us to install it for free. That saved us $900 on the installation, which we accepted. The guys that installed it were good. The frame and the awning itself are fine.
But there were a couple of things about the product I didn't like. The lights were mounted with zip ties, which isn't very professional. They should be mounted in the arms. The cords were tucked in with zip ties and that didn't seem professional for a company that's been in business that long. That stuff should be all encased. I'm a pretty professional person that's very mechanical and I could see all kinds of improvements that should be done on this thing that would make the product look better and the installation would be a lot quicker. So it seemed like it was second-rate.

After everything was done, I'm very happy. I purchased an awning from Sunsetter a long time ago. I wanted to expand that and I needed another awning for more coverage, so I purchased another one from them. Then I'm gonna be purchasing another one within four months in a different property because I like the way they work. Their people were very knowledgeable and offered me the choices. They provided me with a choice that was acceptable to me. When I had to call the office for different issues, the people in the office were also very helpful. Whatever they communicated with me was definitely within the time frame that they said.
When I'm out in the area where I can open up the sunshade, it definitely provides some major relief from the sun. The only thing you have to be careful about is that we have a lot of wind. So if it gets a little bit too windy, I'm afraid to keep it open because I don't wanna get it messed up or broken. Also, I wish it could cover the whole pool. I wish they had like a 50-foot shade that would go on the pool. I've had parties out here where it started to rain and we put the shade up. So there's plenty of people that have already seen it and that know about Sunsetter. But it's expensive. They would have to budget for it. But they love it.

SunSetter is a good, respectable company and my experience was very good. The installers were very courteous. They worked fast and cleaned up. But you could never get the salesperson to call you back. I left messages because I wanted a status on what was going on and I had a hard time getting one. But I finally did. When installing the awning, SunSetter’s guys need to take into account where the sun is in relation to where they're installing the awning. Because when my awning goes up in the morning, it's shading half my grass and not the patio. The awning is great. It’s automatic and functioning well. The wind sensor works perfectly but the remote is impossible to use because the lights are so little you can't see them. And if you're outside, well, you can't see them in the sun. It would be much better to have words.

Now, I can go out and I can even sit out there when it's raining. It's perfect.

There's a lot of wind at the moment and it's rare that we can have the awning out until next month. But right now, we have used it and it's great. I'm not very happy with SunSetter though. Their ability to ship things from their factory in Texas to Colorado Springs is awful. I ordered the awning at the end of January and I was told it would be put up by the end of March. At the end of March, the contractor hadn't heard anything from SunSetter and they'd lost the shipment. They didn't know where it was. And it took me phoning the contractor and the contractor phoning SunSetter and giving them three days to find it or they'd have to replace it.
SunSetter eventually found it and it was installed at the beginning of May, which was a month and a half after it was expected to be installed. I got no information from SunSetter at all about it. They emailed me about five weeks after they shipped it to ask if I was happy with the installation. They didn't even know that it hadn't arrived. I vented at the contractor and they said it was not their fault. It was the fault of the shipping people and the freight people. I suggest strongly that SunSetter upgrade their ability to analyze where shipments are and check that they've been delivered before they ask me for a review and that they get another shipper if they're losing shipments that size.
The contractors did a great job. But if you've got a tight schedule when you want to install the awning, you should go somewhere else. There’s another company which would have almost the same quality and be better at shipping and getting it there on time. If you've got plenty of time to wait, maybe you can just go with it. People should have some direct contact with SunSetter or ask SunSetter to copy them on the shipping details. They don't need to talk but it'd be good if SunSetter, when they send it out to the contractor, also send a copy of it to the customer. I've received many emails from SunSetter in the interim offering up to $1,000 off awnings and I continue to receive these emails. It makes me suspicious that I paid too much because they can still send out offers to me even when they know I've got it, which highlights bad management.

I bought the awning from Costco instead of from Sunsetter directly. It's a motorized 20-foot XL. I did the installation myself. It was challenging and frightening. But when I did it, I got the brackets up and then got a couple other guys to help me put the awning in the brackets. Thankfully, they were installed perfectly. Everything went together great. The only thing is that the brackets are not made to be installed on vinyl siding. They told me that I gonna need shims but it's more than just shims. It needs to stand off the wall by a half an inch. I bought stainless steel washers to get it to straddle the hump and the final siding, and that worked. So, they ought to have something for that.

This year I ordered another shade and my installer again, charged $250, but was unable to get the shade to extend fully. I called Customer service and that was the problem. The agent was not only surly, speaking to me as though I was stupid. I told her the problem and she continued to rattle on, referring to what I needed to do - plug it in. No, I kept saying. It's solar. We had power. Then she told me to climb up and disconnect it-12-15 feet off the patio. I told her that because of my age, this was not possible but she continued. Finally I realized I was getting nowhere with her and asked if she could refer me to a local company. I was sure I'd pay an additional service call, but what choice did I have?
I called and they referred me to the installer. At this point, no one has bothered to tell me that this company, Express Sunrooms, didn't service what they didn't sell. After THREE WEEKS of trying to get the installer, he returned my call to say that fact. He couldn't help me. When I paid around $1000+250 for installation, my only alternative was to return it. Then start over with another purchase. My friend, in a last ditch effort before doing this, offered to help and we got it working. The remote is still not right but I can make do. He also pointed me toward the solar sun shades he installed himself. Half the price and he will do it for me. Problem solved. (Expensive) lesson learned. No thanks to your Customer service.

Our experience with SunSetter originally was terrible. The person came and took our order in October and the awning was supposed to be installed by Christmas but we never heard from him. I got busy during Christmas and just thought he couldn't install it. When I tried to contact the salesman after New Year's, we had great difficulty getting ahold of someone. And sadly, he had died. That is quite understandable, except SunSetter had no provision for a situation like that and they completely offered us no help at all. They're a national company and they advertise all the time, which was why I went with them. Because when you're hiring people for construction, you're always worried that somebody's gonna go away. Using them as a national company didn't prove so truthful because it's left up to the salesperson who is a SunSetter dealer.
We ended up getting our 50% deposit back through our Visa card. Thank goodness we had paid through Visa because SunSetter was not gonna give it back because you go through a dealer. They consider themselves separate from the dealers that they hook you up with. It's ridiculous the way they work. In the end, I contacted a different SunSetter dealer. They had someone nearby here down in Clear Lake. The dealer was very nice and understood the problem. You would assume the awning would have been made. It had been long enough that it was supposed to have already been installed. But SunSetter claims they never received the order, which was why they wouldn't do anything. I sent them a copy of our order from their dealer and there was no response.
On our second experience, Coastal Shade, the second dealer, was excellent. The guys made certain to be especially accommodating because of the situation. They were very good in all regards. But SunSetter was not efficient. They sent the wrong fabric and then they had to send the correct fabric. It took two weeks longer than expected. We did buy through them. We didn't buy directly from SunSetter. We've been quite pleased.
The sales rep was well informed, had good knowledge of the product, and was quite pleasant to deal with. We chose an awning that fits our needs. It's wide and long enough to do the job. You can buy a drop-down screen that goes on the outer end if you need it to go even closer to the ground. Our awning is an electronic one that goes out when you press a button. It'll extend fully and then you press another button to retract it or you have a separate button to stop it in any position. SunSetter is overpriced for what you're getting. One thing I didn't like about it is the arms of the product would stretch straight out, but the arms bend. The only other issue I had with install was I didn't think I'd be able to open my door, but they adjusted it so I could open it. They made it higher so I could open the door. They were concerned that the person who came out and measured it had not measured it correctly, but they were able to adjust it.

The reps were fairly friendly and attentive and they got back to me quickly. Also, they did a pretty good job with the install. They took down the old awning and had the new one up within two hours. The only downside to it is that they left the old arms but it's not a big deal. They mostly left it pretty clean, although there was a little bit of random things such as a couple of screws and little pieces of plastic. One of my little LED lights is kind of coming off the arm, though. But other than that, I'm pretty happy with it. Overall, it seemed like it was a pretty decent experience.
It's quite enjoyable to have a nice, new awning, and it's got little LED lights and a wind sensor. If it's windy, it'll automatically retract, which is great, so it doesn't get damaged. The completely unthought about benefit that is really nice is the fact that when the sun sets, it's on that side of the house and with it open, it blocks out most of the sun from hitting the windows or the doors and then shining into the house. It helps with keeping things cooler.

SunSetter’s team was great. The reps were professional, polite and quick. We live in a community that has an HOA and we had to select within a color range. There are limitations in the things that you can and can't do here. So, we just followed what the other folks in the neighborhood who had the awnings had done. The first one we chose was striped awnings but the Homeowners Association wouldn't allow us to have them. There are very strict rules here but that's why we chose this community because everything looks nice. And it's a senior community. We had to take a sample of the awning and show the Homeowners Association but SunSetter doesn’t give out samples as a rule. The guy who installed it got us one anyway and then we had to return it to him. SunSetter worked it out for us. But they might wanna consider making it a little easier to do. Because anybody that puts one up in this neighborhood doesn't have to have a sample.
We've only had the awning a short time but we're glad we got it because it cools the living room down. If you're watching TV in the late afternoon, that window right there would be bright and the awning allows us to shade that. Also, we spend a lot more time sitting out on our patio than we would have otherwise. It's been great. We got no regrets about that awning. It functions like it says and the guarantees on it make it worthwhile.

I liked the way that I was forwarded an assessment for what the value was going to be on the SunSetter unit installed in my home timeframe. The owner called me from the company and explained to me what the cost was going to be. I had questions about electrical installation for an outlet to plug the unit into, and he was very accommodating and professional. He said the deposit did not accrue a fee for the transaction but the remainder of the balance would incur a fee if it was paid by credit card. I asked him if he would trust me to write him a check to prevent any additional charges from the remaining balance, put it in the mail, and if he would please order the unit prior to him receiving my check. He assured me that he would.
Aside from that, they were almost five days early on their delivery date. When the installation team came, then removed an old unit that I had and installed the new unit in record time. And it was done very professionally. I am in a windy area, off of the ocean, and wind gets up down here pretty good. ADT's rep told me that the unit has a shaker feature which retracts the awning automatically and the thing was set to 25 miles an hour. He also explained how to use the device that was pinched on the outside fringe of the awning. He showed me how I could adjust the height by myself, which is very simple with an Allen wrench since I'm a mechanic. But anybody could really do it if you just showed them exactly what you did, and they did.
But the little shaker unit down here is very pertinent. One time, I was out back and when I went downstairs, the wind got up pretty good. And when I came back upstairs, the awning had retracted itself. So, I was very happy about that. The installers also showed me how to set a lock feature on the awning where I could just have it deployed so far. I've got two windows in the back of my house and in the afternoon in the summertime, I know it's going to be a benefit even though I haven't had it long. And it makes a tremendous difference on how much heat is generated by the sun coming through these back windows on the living room of the house. So I'm really happy to have chosen this model. Their guy was very helpful in my selection process.

John, an independent contractor for SunSetter, and his associate did the install and it went well. They had to move the awning a couple of times because of where it was being placed, but they finally chose a location that allowed the awning to retract and extend without any conflict. They were on time and they did a clean job. I have no complaints, and the awning is working well. I'm pleased with it. I won't use it every day, but I'll use it when I'm trying to shield the area from either rain or sun.

When I called SunSetter to ask to send the parts, I had the names of the parts, but they were asking me to provide the part numbers before they could help me; it was frustrating. They should have the part numbers. It’s been 9 weeks since I placed the order, they are sending a whole new shade, I still don’t have it.

I ordered the SunSetter from Wayfair. This would have been season 15 for my old one. I just took it down this past Friday. The fabric was in good condition except for the first 18 inches or so. It hung on the north wall. Too much weather abuse, but that's where I needed it. The Sunsetter allowed us to use our deck. Without it, not so much. I insisted on Sunbrella fabric this time. I'll be more diligent to take better care of the exposed fabric. I bought the LED lights this time. I also bought the cord and a remote. I trust SunSetter. That's the bottom line. Great service. Pleasant. Fair price. Speedy delivery.

Bought our Sunsetter XL 12’ wide Awning through Costco. It was a pleasant and seamless experience. Costco saved us almost 20%. Package arrived in excellent condition and packaged in a heavy duty cardboard tube. Well done. My son and I did the installation. Caution: this is not for the weak or inexperienced. This awning weighs over 120 lbs. The bolts that hold the brackets to the brick did not thread properly and broke the brick where they were supposed to grip. We used the correct bits and hammer drill according to the instructions provided. Gorilla Construction Adhesive was used to hold the bolts in place overnight until cured. Problem solved. Once installed the awning operated flawlessly. We use it every single day on our deck. Would absolutely buy it again!

She tolerated me putting her on and telling her that I needed to call back because I needed to get more information. She was very congenial to my schedule and extremely customer-focused. The team was outstanding. Everything that they said that they were gonna do, they did. However, I was disappointed that SunSetter doesn't have a distributor close to me. I had to figure out how to get it installed on my own but the install was no challenge. They did really good with the instructions. I used the resources a lot. It would be nice though if they had an option for the cord length to be determined. For the cord for the power, I had to run it through my ceiling. I had to do some gerrymandering because they only gave me a certain amount of footage on the cord.

I liked SunSetter Awnings' reputation and what we read about them. SunSetter overall is expensive. But it goes with the flow of the older we get, the more expensive things look compared to what they were when we were young. Ray, our salesman, told us about the different accessories we could do. So, we did the lights on it and they work great. When I forget how to use the controller, I go online, no problem.
For the second one, he told us he would do the installation. When it came time for it, he was only there for a minute. We were supposed to get a bonus of the wind sensor. He said, "I have them in my truck." Because sometimes, they get extras. And we would buy some material because we would get somebody who couldn't use their awning. A used SunSetter awning. And we would buy the material through the company. We had to have the history of them in order to buy the material. But Ray never ordered the material. Never heard from him again.
He never came to pick up a check, never called us again, never got the wind sensor. I don't know what happened to him. We left him three messages while he already told us, "Oh, yeah. I have a 12-foot." We said, "Great. Okay, give us a quote." Took us a couple of times for him to get us a quote for the material, which went through SunSetter with no problem. It's what matches. Ray ever contacted us again and we just said, "Forget it. We're done. We're not gonna put it up." We put up some lights and we're good with that. It was a weird experience. But the awning is gorgeous. It works great. The lights are beautiful.

The awning is absolutely fabulous. We got all the bells and whistles and so far, so good. We got the wind sensor and it worked. The other day, it was out and it got real windy and it rolled in by itself. Also, with the remote, we just press the button and it'll open and close the awning and we can stop it to where we want it to if we don't want it to open all the way. SunSetter is fantastic but I had a terrible experience with the third-party company I went through. The rep promised the world and delivered nothing. But I did get the awning and the awning is installed, which is all I care about at this point.

I called SunSetter and told them I was having a little problem with that go handle, and the lady said it was $39. I wanted something that I could take down or pull in and put out as needed. So, I went with the awning instead of something that was permanently out there. SunSetter Awnings' rep said he could do it, and found a way to do it with the surface I had on my home. He went out of his way to get the materials that were required, which didn't come along with the SunSetter materials itself. So, he had to get specific materials that would work with my home. That was good. And he got it done sooner than I thought.
The awning is pretty. It's quiet. And it performs smoothly. We already tried out the sensor as far as with the wind factor. I didn't realize that it was that windy one day. I went out there and said, "Hey, who pulled in the awning." The sensor itself pulled in the awning. So, that was cool that the sensor worked. An easy functioning of the remote control. It has been simple so far. It's reliable. I chose the best quality material, and we'll see how everything works out. It looks like it should last a long time for me.

Also, I noticed that when it got 10 below zero, they just wouldn't come down. I had to go out and pull on them just a little bit. But as cold as it was, it really made a difference in keeping the cold air out. Other than those, I'm pretty pleased with them. I like the fact that they're solar and I don't have to plug them in. The one thing I was worried about, which wasn't a problem, is we have two of them and we were afraid that one remote might cause both of them to go but it didn't do that.

Installation was difficult for me. I installed it upside down, and that resulted in some issues. Once I understood what the proper installation process was, I can put them up and down now. You've gotta be very specific in terms of how you orient the roller shade on the wall and therefore where the handle comes out. So, if that would have been clearly explained, that would have saved me some time. Other than that, we use the awning as a sun shade. I had an offset base umbrella out there which took up so much floor area on the patio that that was not satisfactory. So, the SunSetter awning seemed like the very best option.
The SunSetter Awnings team was wonderful, prompt, considerate, and if I was doing something they thought they could help me with whether it was geared with or combined with the SunSetter awning installation, they do it just like carrying my trash out. We're happy with our SunSetter awning. It was installed a couple of months ago. I went online and said what I wanted and it put me in contact with a local contractor, Gene, who then called me, came and gave me a quote, and gave me options to look at. We chose, and then within about six weeks, they installed it. We got the 18-foot wide, 13-foot long with a window shade that comes out at the end of it, but it goes to the end of the deck to block the sun. It is motorized, but to take the shade down is manual.
The installation was done quickly. The guys were here for five hours, and then they were gone. They cleaned up everything. They went up on our deck through the backyard. They didn't come in the house. There was a team of four guys, including Gene. They had a little trouble getting it on the wall because there was something with the studs but eventually, they got up and everything was fine.
We haven't used the awning much because it was the winter. But we have a lot of barbecues out on the deck and kids' birthday parties, so we plan to use it to shade and not have to worry about UV exposure. So far, we put it out there, we use it ourselves, but we haven't really had any of those yet because of the temperature. As far as the price, it was $7,900. It got a little more expensive since the pandemic and it was more expensive than what Costco optioned. Still, I'm not disappointed by the price.

Then the installer responded that the fabric was damaged. She said she was checking with Brian. Then on March the 5th, I put a question mark, and she said, "That's the top manager. Waiting to hear back from him."
On March 6th, I asked if there were any words and the rep said, "It shows it was delivered yesterday, but there was no picture-taking. He is looking into this further." I am a contractor and I purchased a SunSetter for a customer. I gave her a couple of options and SunSetter was one of the ones that I have purchased and installed in the past. But it was my first time not having a good experience with SunSetter. I went through Home Depot for this particular transaction. They ordered the stuff. But the stuff came in damaged. I had a hard time getting them to get SunSetter to deal with the situation and call back. So I started calling SunSetter myself and took care of the situation. I got the items I needed to repair. But I was out of pocket because I'm the contractor and I had to pay to do whatever needed to be changed or fixed.
The functionality of the awning is very simple. You can either attach it to a ceiling or a wall. It doesn't even have to be a ceiling. This could be a brace overhead protruding out of a wall and doesn't have to be all the way to the ceiling. But it installs very easily. It works fine when it's straight and manufactured correctly. I had an awning that was moved all the way to the left. So it was rubbing on the left, all the way down and back up. I had to figure out how to move it over to the center where it wouldn't hit the left or right side as it came down and went back up.
I had another awning that when it initially would start, it would start, but it wouldn't come. It would catch and I had to assist it to come down for a couple of inches. Then it took off on its own after that. So some little tweaks and twerks sometimes need to be worked out and can be more of a pain in the butt than needed. Sometimes they just happen to work just great the way they're supposed to. I happen to get something that didn't work great this time. I installed five of them and I had issue with three of them. But overall, it is a good product when working correctly.
Whenever you get something damaged, it may not be against SunSetter. It may be against the people who are delivering that they throw things around and do things. One of my tubes was open on the end and you could tell how they tried to push it back in, and it was kind of squashed. They threw it back in there, covered it up so people wouldn't know, and delivered it.
The adjustment for the remote control to get it to work is a little more than a normal person can handle. My customer had a hard time trying to do it. She was an older customer. I had to teach her how to do it because there are so many steps for her to grasp how to reset it to go down lower and stay lower all the time, or how to reset it to only go down a quarter way where it just blocks the sun and she can still enjoy the view. She had a hard time remembering and learning the process. So the process of the automation could be done a little simpler and that would reduce the rate on it.

Back in 2005, there was no distributors or help. You just had to put it together. So, I bought a manual one and put it together. The instructions are good. But it takes up a lot of room in your yard while you're putting it together and then takes two people to lift each side to go up on the deck or wherever you want it and then screw it into the house. But I did in '05, and I'm doing it again. I couldn't afford the size that I bought in ’05 because that was big. So, I bought a 7x8 manual awning because I could afford it. When I measured my atrium door off the deck, it's the perfect amount of size. The cost had gone up enough where the 7x8 was affordable for me.

I needed a vertical roll-up blind for my house on the water up in the panhandle and SunSetter had someone get in touch with me. We agreed to meet when I was up at that house. The man who came out turned out to be a musician also in Pensacola and knew some of the people that I knew up there. So, we got on the subject of music and hit it all off. But he showed up on time, was well-versed in the product and concluded business quickly. He did a good job. The product was what appeared to be the nicest one out there. It was delivered in January but it's still sitting unpacked in my garage here because we haven't been up to the house yet. The one that I got is 11 feet long. I've got a long trailer and I'm gonna load it when I transport it to the house. I just didn't want to do anything that would upset the way it was packed.
When you consider the price of the shade, which is close to 1,000, there's a lot of work there. I do machine work as a hobby and metal has gone sky-high through the roof. I'm willing to bet that the biggest part of the cost in that device was the housing for it compared to the fabric and the internals in it. So, it is what it is. I didn't see any other companies that marketed as high-quality products. I go for quality always.
Some people try and make their websites so fancy to be appealing. But in the process of doing that, it makes it very difficult to navigate it. But I didn't have any trouble navigating SunSetter’s website at all. I found exactly what I was looking for. But the listings for installation fees are not listed on the website, which might be a negative from the standpoint of enticing people. It's up to them, whether they wanna have it professionally installed or they wanna do it themselves. The installation fee was 300 bucks. If you consider whoever's gonna install it, typically, it's gonna have two people that have to drive wherever they're going. There's a lot of expense involved in just getting to and from the job site plus lost time in between installations. So, 300 is fair.
One of the reasons that I like the SunSetter is because it's going to go on the front porch of my house. I'm in Pensacola, on the water, and every year, we get hit by a hurricane. I have the comfort of knowing that when I retract that shade up into that housing if a storm comes along, I don't have to worry about it. Often, when you see things advertised, you'll see shades out and then they always use California or one of these places where the climate and the scenery are beautiful. But if you live in Florida, we focus on storm prevention in everything that we buy.
When I built my house, I put a standing seam metal roof on there, which has got the highest wind load standards of all roofs. And the only reason I spent the extra money was because we get hit by hurricanes. Those shades by SunSetter are appealing to people who live on the coastlines that are subjected to storms. I don't recall seeing anything in there discussing that it's durable from a storm standpoint. And you gotta be careful doing that because some joker will sue you because it fell off of a tornado. But that's a chance you take.

I purchased an awning from SunSetter about five years back. I enjoy it a lot so I purchased another one for my business. It works well and I'm happy with the product. The installer and I couldn’t see eye to eye on when to install it though. He had another job and he didn't get done in time and then there was another excuse that he couldn't make it down. He cancelled a couple of times and SunSetter didn't do anything about the problem because I still had to wait to have it done. But they were apologetic.

One would think it best to go with the 10-year warranty fabric. NO! Not if you may have any unpredictable wind gusts from time to time and or might have the awning out when there is "any" rain. Go with the 5-year laminated fabric for its stiffness. The 10-year fabrics luff and pop like a flag in even minor wind. Worse, the spring-loaded arms don’t pull the fabric tight enough to carry the extra weight of rain, so water stretches the canvas forming a bag between the arms collects and ponds. If you don’t catch it “like we didn’t” the arms will buckle and there is risk of pulling the awning off the house!
We have had an old 10’ x 18’ Sun Setter with a “laminated” cover since 2008 with zero wind or rain damage to the awning in what, some 16 years. We replaced it because the powder coat on the metal parts was peeling badly. Be advised, Sun Setter was recently sued over failing to disclose the danger of the spring-loaded retracting arms. Now the arms are so weak that coupled with the, lightweight and overly stretchy covers. Even a little rain will cup the highly drapeable fabric between the house and outer bar subsequently collecting water until something bends or breaks.
Bottom line, Sunsetter's attitude is you bought it, you own it! Sun Setter simply refers you to line 16 of the manuals, don’t leave it open in rain, WHAT!!! Can’t second guess Mother Nature here in South Florida. We have little cloud bursts all the time. What good is this new junk? As it stands, we have 60 days old, $4,000.00+ Sun Setter that’s permanently damaged and zero help from Sun Setter. Buyer be warned!

I contacted Sunsetter and after speaking to Brandy I have to change my review. They offered free replacement part with free shipping, and free return shipping on broken part. You can't ask for better than that, at least I can't. Brandy was great. Wasn't on hold all day, call was answered in less than 5 seconds. She resolved issue in a few minutes. Great service. Glad I bought American.

I ordered awning for deck in early spring. I was told they usually ship in 1 to 2 weeks. I made repeated calls to C/S, only to be told over and over that it was was process, and would probably ship in next 2 weeks. Didn't receive it for 3 months. Today I tried to retract it for the second time to clean leaves out of rain gutter. One of the support arms bent. Now it won't retract. This thing is a complete piece of JUNK. And an expensive piece of JUNK. $2400 for an awning that lasted about 3 months. Do Not Buy from this company. Could have gotten Chinese version thru online shopping site for half the price, but I decided to buy American. Thanks Sunsetter.

f you are considering purchasing an awning, either direct from Sunsetter, or through an authorized reseller, I ask that you please read about our experience with this company before making your final decision. As with most people, I don't typically take the time to write a lengthy review of a product, or a company, unless I have had either a really good experience... or a really bad experience. Unfortunately, our experience with SunSetter is the latter.
We moved into our brand new home in 2021 and I wanted an option for the back patio that was not the typical for our neighborhood. We priced different structures including everything from attached covers, to pergolas, to different awning options. SunSetter, being a well-known company was our first thought when considering an awning. After careful consideration of all the options, we decided that we would like the look of an awning the best, so we began the process of deciding where or how to get one.
In the fall of 2022, we called a local SunSetter authorized dealer. a representative came out and showed us the different types of awnings and fabrics that we could choose from. We told the representative that we would like some time to discuss the pricing and options available and that we would get back to them. In the meantime, SunSetter direct started running a promotion that made the same awning much less expensive. I called Sunsetter direct, and I let the representative know that I had spoken with a SunSetter authorized dealer, but mentioned that this promotion seemed to be a much better deal financially. The lady I talked to confirmed that it would definitely save us the most money.
At that time I told her that we would not be able to install the awning ourselves and that I had to have some time to think about it before ordering because I would not want to get the awning and not be able to put it up. She said, no worries, we have a company that we work with all the time. She said that SunSetter customers had worked with this company for years and years and that they could install the awning for probably between $600 and $800. she gave me a phone number of this company she mentioned, and said the number was also on the SunSetter website. I inquired as to whether other customers had ever had any issues with the installation company, and she said, no, as far as she knew everyone had always been very pleased with their services. Based on her recommendation and assurance, we did ultimately decide to order direct.
After our order was placed, it wasn't too long before we received our awning. We received two massive tubes and other boxes that we put in our front foyer. I've then called the installation company to arrange a time to have our new awning installed. This is where the trouble began. I called the number I was given by SunSetter repeatedly and could never get an answer or a person on the phone. I called SunSetter back to verify that I had the correct number. I was told that it was the correct number and they were not sure why I couldn't get through. The representative from SunSetter tried to call them and got the same message. She seemed puzzled, but told me to keep trying.
Over the next couple of weeks, I did periodically try again, and again, and I finally got someone on the phone with the installation company that was provided to me by SunSetter. The person I spoke to said that they had no idea what I was talking about or why I had been given their number? They said that they have not, and do not, install SunSetter awnings. Remember, this is the number that was given to me by SunSetter direct, but also the same number that was listed on the SunSetter website as an installer option throughout this whole ordeal. Even after I called back to SunSetter and let them know that this company said that they do not install their awnings, and never have, they still left that number up on their website.
At this point, we were in a bad spot, because we were not capable of installing the awning ourselves, and could not find anyone locally that was able to do it. I called SunSetter back multiple times, as I was extremely frustrated with these huge tubes sitting in my foyer All through the holidays and into the new year. There was never any solution, and the last representative I spoke to at that time basically said, well, it's not that hard... you guys should just put it up yourselves. I'm sorry, but we did not pay thousands of dollars to be put in the situation.
After the dust settled from the holidays and the new year, we called the SunSetter authorized reseller that we originally talked to back in the beginning, and asked them about installing the awning. The representative I talked to there was obviously upset that we did not buy from him. He said this is why you buy from us, and was not keen on helping us. Ultimately that company did agree to come down and put it up, but for an extremely exorbitant price. In the end, we ended up paying much more than what we would have if we had just gone through the authorized reseller from the beginning.
I feel like we were bamboozled by the SunSetter direct representative and basically talked into going with the direct order which ended up costing us everything. I also feel like that representative either didn't know, or even possibly outright lied, about the company that she said SunSetter direct buyers had used for years and years for installation. If this was where the story ended, most likely would not be writing this review...
After the installation of our awning, the wind sensor never worked correctly. We were working with SunSetter customer service to try and resolve that issue, when a matter of weeks after our awning was installed, the motor also quit working!! After many calls to SunSetter technical support and customer service, and walking through all of the steps to reset the remote, it was determined that the motor was bad. So now we have a bad wind sensor, and a bad motor, all within weeks of having this brand new awning drilled into our brand new brick home. What a disaster! They agreed to send out a new motor, which we received some weeks ago. This motor is not something that we can replace ourselves. I called SunSetter direct and ask them about the installation, and they were extremely unhelpful. They said we could follow the directions on their website and install it ourselves or we could pay someone to install it.
Are you serious right now? Why on earth after all we had been through already should we have to pay for the installation of a motor that only lasted a handful of weeks? No matter how many times I called Customer Service , or who I spoke with, they all kept with the same line of it is not in their warranty to pay for installation, only to cover the part. It's a $50 part!! We have not been able to find anyone able or willing to install this new motor. I went back to the authorized reseller who installed the awning, and they said they had no responsibility to us, because we did not buy through them, and that if they came out to install the motor, it was going to be around $1200!!
The final representative that I talked to at SunSetter direct said it was not their policy, but they were going to reach out to the authorized reseller and see if there was any way they could "work something out" with them to come and replace the motor, but that they do not pay anyone to do this. So I am assuming they were going to try and work out some kind of kickbacks or materials to make it worth the authorized reseller's time. Apparently this option failed as I got a couple of emails from SunSetter direct today suggesting there had been no progress. One of the emails was a form letter, basically going over all the steps to reset the remote as if we had not already been there months ago.
I called SunSetter customer service back today for the last time. I let them know how disappointed I am in their customer service, and their company as a whole. I further told the representative today that I would be posting my review any place where somebody might even remotely be considering purchasing one of their awnings. This has been one of the worst experiences I have ever had with any company, ever. This awning was very expensive. We literally could've bought a used car with that same amount of money. Or taken a very nice vacation overseas. I don't know if their products are generally this unreliable, or if we are an outlier?
I asked the representative I spoke with this afternoon if he felt like this was OK that we were being treated this way? I asked, seriously, person to person, on a human level, do you think it is fair that we are out this kind of money and that the company you work for is unwilling to make this right? Of course, what could he say? It's not his fault, and it's his job to stick to the script... "he understands how frustrating this must be for us." No, I don't think he has a clue!
When did businesses in America quit caring about their customers? We were not coming to them begging for something that we did not deserve. We have been shafted and misled all the way through, and they literally couldn't care less. I hope no one ever buys another awning from them, and that they go out of business! Customer service and product reliability 0 of 10 stars. Do NOT recommend!

On June 18, 2021, I purchased two Sunsetter Easy Shades for my patio. On or about August 2023 one shade failed due to a solar panel defect. I paid over $2000 for both shades and the cost was not divided between the two. The 5-year limited warranty was not discussed with me, a copy was not sent to me as part of the transaction. So the limitations were not disclosed to me. I spoke to a representative on 10/19/2023 and he told me the warranty limits for the 5 year period. When I asked him the limits of the equipment, he explained that the life expectancy was 3-5 years.
much different than coverage vs lifespan which is very misleading. For the money I spent, had I knew this, I would never have purchased the product. So I am being charged for the prorated amount of $120. Which I now know does not include labor cost for the installer. The warranty states, SOLAR PANEL ASSEMBLY (solar-powered model) is warranted for three (3) years not to fail under normal conditions if maintained, operated, used, and stored in accordance with the instructions contained with the product.
BATTERY PACK (solar-powered model) is warranted for three (3) years not to fail under normal conditions if maintained, operated, used, and stored inaccordance with the instructions contained with the product. It was operated within the parameters in the warranty. And you see there is no life expectancy on the
actual life expectancy of the product. Again, had I known of the equipment limitations I never would have purchased the product. I am expecting a reimbursement for the $120 for misleading me on the estimated life expectancy of the equipment and the fact that I did not receive full disclosure on the warranty terms which failed to disclose "life expectancy" of product.

Caveat Emptor.... Latin for "Let the Buyer Beware". When I was in the purchasing mode they were very attentive and all over me. . Within one year, I have had issues with LED lighting and unfilled promises around support for cleaning the awning. The distributor passed me off as not their problem to corporate office. Can't get anyone at corporate office to even answer the phone. It's a solid product unless you have an issue. If you do good luck. This is a product that you buy once every 5-7 years and they know that. . Once they have your sale. They could care less about you. Very disappointing as I spent nearly $10,000.

We have been calling weekly for updates and were told on 9/11/2023 that the awning arrived in Denver. We called again this morning 9/18/23, to find out the awning is still in Denver! What? Why? We were told that SunSetter has problems with their shipping company TForce. Are there no other companies? We did consider driving to Denver ourselves from Grand Junction to pick it up.
We have a planned trip that has been scheduled since July and informed Sales we would be gone for 3 to 4 weeks, leaving in mid-September. We have delayed our trip, however, after being informed that the awning is still in Denver, we decided to proceed with our plans. We were told the longest it would take would be 6 or 7 weeks. It has now been over 8 weeks. My mistake was paying in full. I would not recommend doing this. Now I just want my money refunded! How does SunSetter continue to do business like this? I do have a call into Sun Setter but have not yet talked with Customer Service to figure out a resolution.

Ordered $2500 in two outdoor motorized shades. 132" and 144". The first order was damaged which took 7 weeks to receive and return. The second replacement order was completely lost, took Sunsetter 8 weeks to determine they were lost. Of course that was after I had to contact the shipping company T Force freight and chase the order for over two weeks with zero assistance from Sunsetter. All to determine Tforce lost them.
Like a dummy I went in for more and ordered the blinds again, this time they arrived after 6 weeks. Once I determined Sunsetter used T force again I let them know I was not happy with that shipping decision, just responded, "We're sorry"? Once I finally received the 3rd order I Installed blinds only to find they put shorter cable guides than the 84" length blind of they clearly advertised this length size. Only reason I ordered from this company was because the width size and length size I needed and they failed at that too.
I contacted them via phone to have them send me replacement cables at a longer length so my blinds would reach their full extension, they refused and said they would only send the same size cable (no resolve) so I had to resort to modify and replace the cable on my own in order for my blinds to work properly. Sunsetter customer number **. There are many LOCAL awning companies that are good and better than sunsetter willing to do whatever it takes to earn your business, do yourself a favor; support your local awning company and save yourself the bad experience and the unnecessary waste of time. Sunsetter marketing is the best in human history, nothing else from this company is good. I ordered 2 awnings and together with it I waited my 8 weeks to receive them. After waiting the 8 weeks the order was missing 75% of the pieces, basically they just sent the lateral arms.
According to the shipping company, sunsetter didn't send the awnings as they supposed; sending only 4 boxes with some hardware. I spoke with a sunsetter representative explaining the situation and learned that it will take several business days for them to investigate and then another 6-8 weeks to receive the missing parts. Of course, as I still have a little decency and respect for myself, I canceled the order and initiated a return for the few pieces of hardware I received. Now I have to deal with a return and wait until they think it is ok to return the payments I did. If this were the only awning company, I would understand. But there are many awning companies in my city willing to do whatever it takes to earn my business. Lesson learned!

They have not provided any insight as to why the product is delayed, how they're going to compensate, or any communication that makes a customer want to use them in the future. My original product, ordered June 5, 2023 , still has not arrived 3+ months later. My recommendation is to find another awning company. I regret ordering from SunSetter.
Original Review: I placed my order with a dealer/installer on June 5th. I was supposed to have my awning at the end of July, early August (I was told roughly 8 weeks). I heard nothing. My installer mentioned he tried reaching out to SunSetter several times and he received no responses. Then, SunSetter informed the installer, who informed me, the warehouse moved and they're shipping orders from the end of June and orders made in July. I was informed today (August 29) that my awning is now being fabricated and manufactured.
Why were orders placed in July shipped already, when my order placed on June 5th is JUST being manufactured 3 months later? I tried reaching out to SunSetter and received no responses. I reached out via email and social media (because they're actively posting) and no responses. Absolutely horrible customer service and no reasoning why my product wasn't even being made until 3 months later when other orders have just shipped. I do not recommend this company at all.

Bought 9 units and then 3 more from Costco as the first units functioned OK for the first 6 months. The installation from one of their dealers was outrageous as we had not bought the units from them, but we were stuck. At approximately 10 months, one of the solar panels failed and after trying all the suggested remedies, SunSetter, sent me a replacement unit under warranty. The second solar panel failed just past the first twelve months, and that is when I was told that years two and three of the warranty were pro-rated. So about 80 dollars later I received the replacement unit. (I was told by the support person that I could expect a failure every two to three years.)
400.00 dollars for installation later, it is on an upstairs window, that one is running, but another solar panel one just started having intermittent failures. I suspect this will also be another 80 plus installation unless I can manage myself. The durability and maintenance should be made more clear upfront. I would have never purchased them if I had known the poor quality they had in manufacture.

But he got all the measurements. So, I picked everything and got a confirmation. But I did not realize the installation wasn't covered when I paid them. So, I was in shock when the techs said they were gonna need a check from me. But they were good and they knew what they were doing. I went online. SunSetter Awnings filled out their online form. They sent it to their dealer for my area. And the dealer called me to be able to set up an appointment. The person that came out to provide what SunSetter provides was very nice. The SunSetter product is amazing. I like it. It was the installation that was a problem. My only concern is whether I have a warranty with SunSetter for the product that was delivered. It’s no fault of SunSetter except for they aren't vetting their dealers well.
The third party vendor that they have is less than stellar. It seemed they were day laborers than the company out of Winchester who is the SunSetter vendor actually picked up. They were very polite to me. I made conversation with them. They took the awning around back. I was out front. My wife was in the house, and she and the housekeeper could hear the two of them yelling at each other back and forth. So, unprofessional. At that point, I heard a large crash and someone screamed. I ran around back and found one guy holding his wrist. He broke his wrist. And my SunSetter was sitting on my deck.
They put the SunSetter up to be able to find that the wire was severed when they dropped it, and they damaged my deck. So, I ended up splicing the wire on the SunSetter so it would work. I have a working SunSetter now. I paid 50% for it. They installed it back in May, and I haven't heard from them since. They told me that they would order a new motor because the motor comes with the connection to the wire that goes to a connection, and it severed the wire between the motor and the connection, so we had to replace the entire new motor. If SunSetter is this backed up on motors, they're doing one heck of a business. I don't believe I would hear from them again. I don't want them back in my property anyway.

We had a new deck put on about three years ago. It's in the back and the sun hits it directly. It gets a lot of sun throughout the day. We had a big portable awning but it was a hassle trying to open it and it broke several times. We decided that we'd like to go with an awning that was permanently built in that we could use. The SunSetter sales rep who came out had quite a bit of experience and he was very professional and friendly. He also didn't waste a lot of time either, which we appreciated, but he asked a lot of questions and led us into the material and how it was built. He did a good job of explaining the differences between our options, especially housing the awning.
The awning we got is a tan and it has dark lines down the side. It automatically retracts, which is pretty cool. We left it out one particular time and we came back about two or three hours later and it had retracted because of the wind. That is an awesome feature. Also, it's a repellent from water and it holds the sun out. We use it just about every Sunday and it increases our space in the house. Personally, I enjoy going out there and enjoying the warmth of the sun. The only downside is it's expensive. But other than that, SunSetter is a pretty good company and their service is really good.

It's a great investment. It saves a lot in the long run.

SunSetter Awnings' reps were very knowledgeable. I got the light and the wind mechanism that would bring the awning in. It’s good and it's the perfect space to keep the sun away.

I ended up buying the side panels which are useless. I thought it would be something easy to use on the awning, but they're not. We put them up but took them down and after that, they're never gonna get used. It would be nice if SunSetter would give me a refund on those side panels. The rep's in sales, so I get it. But if I had known, I would never have spent the money for those things. But the install guy was fantastic. He and his helper put the awning up in record amount of time. He said, "Salesmen tell you a lot of things, but we're the guys that have to install it." But so far, I'm very happy with the awning. It looks good on the house.

I've tried several times to call SunSetter Awnings. It was hard to reach them. But I didn't give up. Once we got ahold of somebody, it was all automated, that said that we would have someone call us next day. He did, and that was the salesman. He made an appointment and he was here on time. He had all the answers. And we bought the awning on the spot. I purchased the one that it was remote, in and out. When it gets windy, the thing automatically contracts. I gave my neighbor the salesman's card. He's thinking about getting one too.

The first young man I had was excellent. He was very knowledgeable and polite. However, I wanted to see more fabric, so I asked to have somebody bring that out and the second gentleman that was out was horrible. He was belligerent, and everything about him was unprofessional, including the way he looked and acted. I have neighbors who also talked with him and canceled with SunSetter. I was going to cancel the entire order as well because he was so rude and badgering. This guy didn't even have all the fabrics. He left one of the books back in Columbus. It was an awful experience. I called their main place and spoke with the person who does the ordering directly and got things worked out that way. I would still recommend SunSetter, but I've made sure that people don't speak with the second person I talked to.
The product is great, and the installers were great. They were very professional and knew exactly what they were doing. They've been doing this for years. I had one slight adjustment to make, and they came out the next day and did that. The awning I have is motorized and it's wonderful. We're able to sit out with the sun out. We also put it out even if we're not out there, and it makes a huge difference inside the house with the sun coming in from the west.

The sales rep was very good, knowledgeable, and went through all the options with us, motorized or crank. We did the motorized, and the installation crew came on time and told us about how long it would take. It took them less than they said it would. They were very professional, and I have no complaints about them. We had a bit of a problem with one of the side awnings that came undone, and they came right back, secured it and made it better than it was originally. The awning is very easy to use. We can put it out when it’s sunny and retract it when it's not. We're very pleased with it. We like the side panels too.

SunSetter's sales rep was honest about what he thought we needed in our backyard and he didn't try to upsell us. We talked about the sizing we needed and what we got was the right size. Also, we had good communication with the installers. They answered the phone when I called and if not, they would always get back within 24 hours. They would keep me updated on when the order was placed, when it was delivered to their warehouse, and about scheduling the installation. So, they kept me in the loop and I never had to chase them down. So far, the awnings are great and they cover a good amount of patio. They are also super easy to use. You press the button and they open or close.

Their rep Charlie was very responsive in getting back to us once we reached out. He came at a time that worked for us to take measurements and suggestions. He was very helpful with setting up the installation. The installers were there at the time they said they were gonna be there. They were very easy to work with. The awning has been exactly what we needed. It's a high-quality product.

The rep was a very nice older gentleman. He drove up here on a Saturday from South Carolina to meet with us. He did the initial measurements and talked to us about our options with the awning. He made some suggestions and he was very knowledgeable about the product. We went with a motorized crank with lights and all the bells and whistles. The installers were very quick and thorough. It looks beautiful and all our customers love the awning. It makes the patio much more enjoyable in the middle of the day. People wanna sit outside without the sun so it has allowed us to expand a bit outside.

The installers were nice and polite too. We're very happy with it. It's on our deck and the deck gets so hot. I love the remote control, so easy. It's quiet, sturdy, and beautiful. I love the colors we picked too.

We like our SunSetter a lot. We use it quite a bit. We're happy that we did it. It didn't take long to get it up and it is quite nice. The sales rep was very informative about it and showed us how to use it. Plus, we came in and we won a prize of a barbecue grill. They had things that you could get if you ordered it this month. They have a great deal. You also have a choice of colors, fabric and manual or automatic.

The sales rep had an English accent, and he did a good job. Everything went well the installation too. The awning is in our back patio, and it has a motor and a remote control. We chose the blue and white stripes with some gray color, and it matches our house perfectly. We don't need the shade as much, but it takes away the glare and makes it a little cooler out there. It's a nice experience. All in all, we would recommend Sunsetter.

I went on the SunSetter website and found a local dealer. The rep had an appointment soon after I called him, and he came with a fabric book, so we were able to pick from there. He was very friendly and knowledgeable about what we would need specifically for our space. He had everything needed on that first day for us to make a decision about what we wanted. It was very easy, and it didn't feel like there was a lot of decision-making. The presentation was excellent and we got told honestly about how to pick between the different products. We got a large, custom-fit awning with performance fabrics, a white trimming and an aluminum hood. It's motorized and we got the lights as well.

I was wanting to enjoy my new deck, but it's on the southwest side of the house, so I get the afternoon deadest dead heat. I wasn't looking forward to that part, so my mom suggested that I look into getting an awning. I looked up awnings and SunSetter was a recommended brand. It was expensive, but they were having a sale. I looked at other stuff that were more expensive as well. For what I was getting, I got a good price and I would be able to use my deck in the heat.
SunSetter Awnings was awesome. I sent my information to them online, and the website was great. It was easy to use. They contacted me to set up an appointment, then they came and did a presentation. They brought a whole book that had different colors and they were very good about explaining the different options and colors. I had several colors that I liked, but the rep went out back and matched, and I got their opinion on what would look good with my trim. I already had a color in mind, because blue is my favorite, and I wanted to make sure that they thought it would look good.
We picked out the color blue, then they ordered the awning and had somebody come install it. It's a motorized awning, and I'm excited about it. Overall, I highly recommend SunSetter Awnings and I'm very happy with it, especially because it's easy to pull out. It also has an automatic rain and wind sensor, so it automatically retracts if I leave it out too long and it gets windy or rainy. It worked out great for me, and I love it.

I reached out to SunSetter and it was short and sweet. Within a couple of days, I had my SunSetter up. Two reps came out for the installation and they were telling me what I wanted to hear. They were really concerned about what they were doing and before they left, they had me get out in the yard and look up. They asked me what I thought about the awning and I told them it was what I needed. Then, they gave me things I could put in front of it if the sun was there but I haven't taken the time to put that up yet. I also had a lot of my friends who have asked how I got my awning up and I gave them SunSetter's number.

There was an address listed for the sales rep's company and we first thought we'd drive over there and pop in. We could not find that particular address, but when we used the phone number, he just came over. He answered all the questions we had about SunSetter awnings and shared the samples with us. His presentation was excellent. We got the big motorized awning that has the roll-down screen on the edge, which is a manual part of it and I don't like that it has to be manual. But I like the idea of the features. The installation went good, too. We had to have an electrician come afterwards because we needed an outlet closer up to where the awning was, but the installers did their job and it was pretty effortless on our part.
We had to make a call a few weeks after the installation as there had to be an adjustment made because the awning was leaning dramatically to one side. It took a little more effort to get a response to that call, but once I sent a photograph and said it had to be corrected, their rep was over here and in a matter of minutes, he got it adjusted.

Working with SunSetter was an easy process. I contacted the local person who came out and gave us some information on it. We liked what we saw and decided to go ahead and have it installed. The installation went very well. No problems. The head of the construction group and two assistants came in, and within an hour and a half to two hours, they were in and out. And it was a roof mount, so I'd imagine it was a little bit more complicated than if it was not a roof mount.
I like the awning. However, we're still getting sun. So even though we got the largest one that we could possibly get, it does not, at this time of year, create all the shade that I wanted it to, that I was hoping it would. But that's about it. It would be very difficult for the rep to know what the sun situation is at different times of the day and year. But if I would have known it wasn't gonna create as much shade as it does, and that's because of the position of the patio more than anything, I might have thought about other options. But we've used it a lot and we are happy with it. I'm 85% to 90% satisfied. It was expensive and I wanted more shade out of the deal. But I'm only judging that on two months’ worth of sunshine right now, so I can't really tell what's gonna happen the rest of the year as the sun moves further south.

The installers did a good job. I got a gray awning that is about 12' by 10' and I got a remote. So far, so good. We're pleased with the awning. We'll be putting it out when we're planning on having family and friends over and having some meals out on our deck.

The experience was a good one. But I wish SunSetter Awnings employed SunSetter employees to do SunSetter business. It was a bit confusing for me because I had to go through an intermediary to get everything done. It was a strange way of business plan that there was nobody from SunSetter taking care of business. It could have been streamlined if SunSetter itself sent SunSetter personnel out to give me the estimate, and tell me about it. But the guys who I dealt with were great.
The installers knew what they were doing. They went right to work, and they were good guys. They were limited in what they knew about the incentives. I asked them about that. I thought it was an all-encompassing business. But the gentlemen were contracted out by the guy who I initially talked about to do this kind of work. So, it was unfair. But they did a great job installing the awning.
There was a cover that came with the incentive. There was a manual crank, some lights, and a telescopic cleaner. It was a situation where I could have taken advantage of that incentive or I would have gotten a break in the installation of the awning, which is $600. It was a lot for the amount of time that was put into it. The guys did a great job. But I could have gotten the installation for 300 bucks. They were so cool. They were $750 or $1,000 in value. I would probably never use those things. I was disappointed in that. There was one issue to begin with that was rectified. The awning retracted for no reason. But SunSetter determined that the motor that is in the encasement up there at the top was overheating. So, they put a new motor in there and it worked most of the time. It still retracted on occasion. Otherwise, very nice.

Updated on 07/18/2023: Following up: Yesterday I left a review regarding their bad control systems (remotes, wind sensors, motors). They immediately attach a nice "ooooh, we are sooooo sorry" note. I missed the call when it came, but in her message, Angela just reiterated that my replacement motor order was in process (6 weeks of cranking a 20' awning). She mentions nothing about the hours upon hours I have spent in the last three years trouble-shooting and repairing various control systems on my awning or that the Easy Shade was broken upon delivery (I returned it immediately). They charge thousands for this product. Then drain you a little at a time as their poorly designed gear fails (the warranty 'discounts' the part you need). THEN, you get to spend even MORE of your time fixing it (or paying someone to do so). This company owes me at least a thousand dollars in wages! DO NOT BUY THEIR JUNK!!!!
Original Review: While the mechanism and cloth have held up fine for the last 5 years, the control systems have been a continual nightmare. I have spent HOURS troubleshooting and fixing. Plugging and unplugging in an attempt to reprogram. On the phone with tech support, they end up charging me for a new part (at a warranty discount, but money nonetheless). Then, I have to spend more time installing the new and returning the old.
First the wind sensor, then the remote control, NOW the freaking MOTOR. To make matters worse, I have to wait 6 or more weeks to get the new motor. Meanwhile, it takes about 175 cranks to get the thing in and out. With my severe South and West exposure, I must have something to create shade for the house to keep it from overheating. PS: two years ago, I bought a motorized EasyShade. That piece of junk was broken when it arrived. I sent it back and switched to a crank version (that is not as difficult, but I have lost the view from my bedroom b/c I have to go outside and crank if I want to see clearly). DO NOT BUY!!!
As previously mentioned we followed up with you via phone call. We left a message offering additional assistance with the settings of your SunSetter awning. Additionally, we are sending a free replacement motor and are currently in the process of expediting the order. Although it does appear that the current motor is in good operational condition - we are sending this to you for free as compensation for your time and you may keep this motor or use it as you wish.

I inquired in the SunSetter website and got a phone call within an hour from the local rep, and I was impressed with that. He came and talked to us, and we didn't see any need to go anywhere else. When the awning came in after about five weeks, he called. He came over with his son, and they installed the awning in about three hours. They had to do some adaptation to the ends of the eaves. I was there all the time watching the local rep and he knew what he was doing. The automatic awning is excellent, and we have the wind sensor and the roll down sunscreen as well. The local rep was very good. Also, I've already sold three other ones for him just by virtue of the fact that I'm the president of our homeowner’s association, and people have seen the awning. They've bought at least two more from him, so I keep kidding him, "Hey, look, you gotta help me out here."
