We've had SunSetter awnings in the past at several of our other houses and the sales and purchase were fine. I have no problem with that, and also with the ability to order the correct size and the color and the fabric. We bought motorized awnings. We found them very acceptable and they've been working just fine. The installation was very easy. I was able to do it with a friend of mine. We were able to measure out, put the brackets up, follow the instructional video, and put all the brackets in place. Once they were up, it was pretty easy to set up. The only thing that was a little difficult for us was we had to route some power for the motors and some outside weather-tight plugs. We love the SunSetter awnings that we've had here at our house in Pismo Beach. They're great. The only thing is that we've had nothing but problems with the shipping company that they use.

They did an excellent job. I'm very pleased with Sunsetter. I haven't used the awning yet because I've got to replace my receptacle, and I hadn't been back down there to do it. But we tested it all and everything was fine.

I called SunSetter Awnings and they directed me towards this company here. I called them. The rep was very good and quick. When they got the awning, they called me the next day. They were here to install it. The installer was knowledgeable and in and out. It worked out well.

I bought a SunSetter awning 10 years ago. That one did so well for so long. The quality couldn't be much better. It finally died so I got another one. I look forward to the same thing on this one that it was. I've been real pleased with SunSetter.

SunSetter Awnings has a good reputation. Sales was great. Came out. No nonsense. “This is what it's gonna cost you.” We talked a bit, and there was no hard pressure sale. However, the installation was far from foolproof. They pulled in, and the tech plugged something in and we lost electricity. He started going through the fuse box. And it was, “I don't want those guys in my fuse box. If they pop something, I don't want them to come back, if we've got issues.” I had to fix a couple of things after they left. Also, the only way to get white was a power awning. That was what we had to do. Everything is working. It meets our needs. It is one way that we were able to cover the hot tub on either very hot days, light rain or light snow.

We have purchased two awnings from SunSetter, one about 15 years ago and it started to malfunction. We purchased another one to replace it, which is exactly like the old one. It's electrical and it goes up and down vertically to shade the window. I installed it, and it was easy. The only thing was I had a difficulty with the company they used ship their product. They contacted me an hour before they said they were gonna make delivery. There was some issue with us being at home in an hour, and it took them another week to get back.

The first fellow from SunSetter Awnings who came and talked to our association was okay. He was a little weak in terms of describing things. We had a staff of our board members here to listen to his presentation. The questions that he responded to were not as thorough as we expected. Nonetheless, doing our own research, we proceeded. The installation team was good and were very thorough. Once they got things installed, they told us exactly what we were to expect and how to operate things.

A SunSetter Awnings salesperson came and we were happy with what we saw. We had solar originally when we bought them but this time we went with the electric. It's a 12-foot sun shade. My son-in-law and I put it up. It was easy. I'm happy with everything. Get it.

We have four identical sunshades and there's a part that keeps breaking. It's the little loop that you hook into and use to turn. I replaced the whole shade because I didn't know what else to do. Since then, another shade has that same part broke. They had been just ordering new shades and it was getting expensive and we were at a point where we were looking for other options. That's when I found out that we could just order that piece. I called and got that piece replaced. But it didn't have the piece that connects that loop into the actual shade so it's incomplete for what I need. Other than that, the shade itself is a little pricey but it works very well and as long as the replacement pieces are available and they aren't expensive, that's fine.

We had another quote and told SunSetter what we had gotten from another competitor on the web. They came out, spent quite a bit of time, and were the lowest bid. But the rep got the width wrong for the size of awning that we needed. It was a foot off. But we weren't in a hurry at that point as it was already past the summer months. We knew it would take a month or two to get it ordered and they provided all the information we needed. The installation was a few days ago. It took about two hours, which was quick, and they kept me informed, especially when it went up. They expanded it out so I could see what it looked like. We made a few adjustments on the angle it went out but other than that, it worked well.

Awning was damaged in shipment. A deep gash in the holding canister. Photo attached. The installer filed a report but I have not seen any response. I am expecting the unit to be repaired or replaced. I would like to redo this survey after the problem is resolved. The installer (W **) did a great job.

We just finished an outdoor structure. I needed some sun coverage, so we got an awning installed. The process was a little challenging to a certain extent about the length of the awning in comparison to where each attachment was, whether it was a 16-foot or 18 or 20-foot, where each individual places are for holding it in place. Also, there was an issue with the adjustment part once it's in place. It was very heavy for three people to put in. So, consequently, now that it's time to make the adjustments, that part is still vague and I'm still having a little bit of an issue where the extending arms don't tuck up back nice and tight when the awing has retracted.
I had two engineers out here, which were neighbors and they were versed and mechanically able. There was just still some difficulty even to this day where one arm doesn’t tuck in like the other arm, which is a little disconcerting. Also, the remote was a little bit of a challenge to get working properly, but it’s working now. SunSetter should be a little more upfront on the installation video and be truthful about how many people it takes to do it and maybe some different ways to put it in place before things are fastened. There should also be a little more information on how to program remotes. Each remote seems to be different than the one that's in the videos.
SunSetter needs to be more definitive about the pieces that everybody works with. Not all the coverings are the same. Some have motors, some don’t. If you wanna use the manual, it’d take a half an hour to get the thing out. It goes out to 10.2 feet and that takes forever. I tried for a few minutes and it goes out six inches, I'm winded. You'd have to have a special tool. Something that would fit into a portable drill would be the better idea.

First of all the quality of the product is excellent that’s why I choose SunSetter. However, the time it took to complete my order was extremely long. The installer was outstanding and did all he could. The first order was the wrong color and the motor was on the wrong end. When the second shipment arrived the fabric was the wrong color. Finally on the third shipment SunSetter got it right.

I have a driveway over the side of my house and I wanted to cover it from foul weather. I also have a little front porch and I want to sit on the front porch and be able to enjoy the rain. But the borough wouldn't allow me to put a wooden roof down the side of the driveway and across the front of the house, because it encroached my property line. I said I'd put retractable awnings and SunSetter had a good reputation. I called them, they came out, and the installers did an excellent job and the electrician did a fabulous job wiring them up. Kudos to the electrician who came out and did a fine job of running all the wires and not seeing any outside of the building.

We have a west exposure on the back of our house, and we have a little awning attached to our house, but we've had a little too much sun at certain times of the day. We needed to get some shade and when we checked around in some of the places local, we couldn't find a place that we could get a custom size from, so we did the SunSetter. We have friends who have a SunSetter awning on the back of their house and they've been satisfied with it.
We got a manual sunscreen that's 11 feet long by 9 feet high. We can crank it up or down as we want the sun or don't want it, but we haven't used it yet. The only gripe I had is it took so long to get the sunscreen. We wanted it to block at least a fair amount of the sun and we're not even gonna be able to use it anymore this year.

The installation took a little bit longer than implied and I wasn't happy about that. It was implied we'd have it in four weeks, but it was eight weeks. Also, we got the wrong shade. We bought three shades but one of them had the motor on the wrong end. They installed it and I put an extension cord up and used it anyhow until yesterday when they brought one with the motor on the correct end. They took the one down and took it with them. I put my extension cord away because I have a a pie in the soffit of the house. Now, I don't need an extension cord to reach that outlet. The correct one is working properly and I'm happy with it. The price was as promised and the quality and aesthetics are what I expected. I also like that when you extend the shade, it has a preset stop and it will stop automatically like a garage door.

SunSetter sent a representative to our house. He went outside with us and measured. We had already looked online because they sent us a packet that had the catalog. We already had chosen the things that we wanted. So, we told him all the things we were interested in and then he wrote us up a quote and left. We called them the next day and told them to go ahead with it. When he came back, we paid half down. Then two young men came and installed. There was a missing part or something that wasn't right. So, they came back a couple weeks ago and finished that up. The two gentlemen that came back with the part and got all of that installed were very knowledgeable. They showed my husband how to take care of it. We were pleased.
The awning is lovely. The only thing that we didn't like, which was nothing they probably could have done, was once we put the lights in, the cord just hangs there when you plug it in. There's nothing to hold the cord up. So, we would have to rig it in order to keep the cord up and out of the way. It's a shame that there wasn't some kind of a device within it to have been able to hook the cord to so that it wouldn't just be dangling from the end of it.
As far as the price, it was quite high. Fortunately, my husband and I are retired, and we had the money to be able to put into that. We got the top of the line of what SunSetter offers. It has a weather sensor. I love it because we live out in the boonies where flat lands are and the strong winds have torn multiple tarps that we have had on different things. So, we really appreciated that wind sensor, not that we've had to use it, but it's nice to have that. It's supposed to be an automatic retraction if we happen to leave that out. I was very impressed by that particular part of the product.

I filled out an inquiry on the website of SunSetter and one of the local sales reps reached out. I reached out with the intention of getting an awning, and then they showed me the roll-up shades, which I decided was a better option. The presentation was good. The rep did some measurements and showed me the different products and we picked one out. I like the remote control function, it's nice. There were some issues with the order getting screwed up on two of the four shades. I had to wait another six to eight weeks for the other two to come in. But I'm happy with the end result.

It works wonderfully and we're real happy with it. It was expensive. But we feel really good about the awning. My experience with SunSetter took longer than I thought, and there was not a lot of communication via email, but it ended up being fine. The awning is still in its tube in my garage. I waited too long. So, by the time we got it, the sun was so far down on the horizon that it was like, “Well, it's not gonna matter till next year.” So, it's a spring project. I took it out of the tube and inspected it. It looked okay. It looks beefy and the hardware that I looked at looked like it was good quality. So, I'm confident that it's gonna be decent quality. We were having terrible heat gain problems in the house so the awning was a good solution for it. We got the exterior mounted awning system that retracts with a remote control. There's a power line that goes down the side of the windows, down to an outlet, and down at the base of the house. It's a remote-control operated system. We tried to get umbrellas and couldn't find one big enough, then we finally decided we were gonna have to go with an awning. We used an installer of SunSetter, Moore, to purchase the XL awning. Costco's got special pricing and even though their pricing was cheaper, they did not offer installation. We went with these folks from Moore because they had installation as well.
Installation went very well. We expected it to take a long time before the company would be able to install it, but it was a lot shorter than we expected. The company sent out a very knowledgeable guy who came and helped. We had seen some terrible reviews about the installer, so we were going to change our mind, but then they said that the reviews were skewed and to give them a chance. We were very happy we did. Sunsetter was recommended from family and their awning suited our needs the best. It gave us the shade coverage without the poles and everything else in the way. We worked through a secondary company and the expectation we were given was the shipping would take three weeks, but it took at least twice as long as expected. We got the highest end one Sunsetter makes, the Premium Plus Ultimate XL. We did the the top of the line cassette reel as well as just a gray cover. It's got all the bells and whistles. It has two types of lights and a French shade on it as well.
For the intended use, we recommend Sunsetter. They are a good product. However, a couple pieces weren't shipped with them upon receiving, so we didn't get everything right away. They also come with a wind sensor, so if the wind is too high, it retracts automatically so it doesn't rip off the side of the house. They both come with that. They only sent one wind sensor and we're still waiting to get the additional wind sensor and have it installed from the installer. All in all, we're happy with the product, but the sales and shipping experience left something to be desired. We've recommended Sunsetter and set better expectations on shipping timelines. If we sent emails or called the people dealing with us, they responded usually within 24 to 48 hours. When the installers came, they did what they were supposed to do, but there was one problem. The original guy who came out to measure messed up on a couple of our windows. We also got shades to go over our windows in the back of the house instead of just replacing the existing shades that we had that were above the window.
The guy just measured the width of the window, which was smaller than the original shades, so they had to order replacement ones instead. Outside of the mismeasuring of the original replacement sun shades, everything went well. The installation was nice, and overall, our experience was fine. They're not very responsive, and we have to keep calling them back.
Realistically, in all of the heat, we have an inoperational awning because we can't operate it manually. I have paid thousands of dollars for something that's absolutely useless and I have to keep trying to reach them for new promises and nothing's coming. It's been a really bad experience, and I would give SunSetter zero stars at this time. I will strongly recommend to other people there are other products that are not solar-operated. The manual awnings work great, as well as the electric awnings. They also have the option to go manually if the electricity is down. The solar-operated ones are a big money pit that people should avoid.

I was thinking about getting an awning and there was a sale at Costco. It took a long time for the SunSetter installers to call and set up the appointment and do the installation, which was slightly disappointing. But once they got here, they were very nice and efficient. They did a good job. I didn't sign off on it because we didn't have the right cord. The guy said it would get ordered and they'd come back and put it in. The other thing was I hadn't gotten the rebate from Costco. So, I was asking them about that. Eventually, I got the rebate and forgot that I was still waiting for the cord. So, I signed off on it but I still haven't gotten the correct cord. I was using it with a long extension cord and I ended up having a handyman put an electrical outlet there. It's working okay with the short cord.

The SunSetter distributor was very close to my place and I could get the appointment right away. The other competitors were giving me an appointment for three weeks later. Installation was good, but one of the shades is not working. They told me that they were gonna be here between four to six weeks and it took them almost eight weeks. So, they were very late according to what they originally offered me. I bought four of them and one of them is not working. The motor to retract the shade is not working. I have already gotten the commitment that it's gonna be exchanged, but it will take two to three weeks or maybe more. The quality of the shades is good except for the motor. They should try it before they send it to the customer. They should have tested it before sending it.

I ordered two shades, but the installers came out with only one shade. So I had to wait another two weeks, then they said they could order it with the black electrical cord. However, the second guys that came out said there was no such thing. They taped it up in black electrical tape, which I'm not happy with. Besides that, the quality of the awning is good. We already owned a couple of SunSetter products and they're good. We had another window we wanted to protect, and so we got a window shade for that. It's solar-powered and there's a remote that I hang on the wall. I get up in the morning before sun up and I hit the down button, and it goes down. After the sun's off the back of the house, I hit the up button and it goes up. It works every day. You can see through it, so I have my view still, but it blocks out a lot of the sun. The back of our house is all glass. So, I've got three windows with those SunSetters on them and I run them down in the morning till about 2:00 in the afternoon when the sun goes around to the front of the house and it keeps the rooms cooler. I had a SunSetter installed and recently, I ordered another one online. The quality is not very good. Of the three four and a half foot awnings, it appears to be a bad motor. It took countless phone calls to customer service to try to get a resolution. Every time you call, you get a different person and you start all over again with the troubleshooting procedures. Finally, I got down to one person who decided the awning was bad. They submitted a work order to ssend me a new awning. When they did that, they canceled my three and a half foot awning order mistakenly. When I called to get that straightened out, they said, "We're not gonna send you the one we were gonna send you anymore 'cause now it's been over six months. SunSetter's always made good stuff. We saw that we could get their product through Costco and we felt comfortable ordering through them. We had to block the west sun from coming in the living room area, and we liked the way the awning was going to fit in our application and how it worked. It seemed like it took quite some time once our order was shipped. It was four weeks before we got it. But when SunSetter said it was shipped, they did mention that it could take up to three weeks and it took all of that.
Right now, the awning is still sitting in its box. It's late enough in the year here in Montana that I'm not sure we're going to get it up this fall. The sun has changed and we don't need it that badly until early summer again. When we'll be using the awning, it'll be tucked up underneath the soft eave, then hang straight down. And it is on a covered porch. So between the window in the house to where the awning is, there's about 10 feet, and we're going to block the sun before it ever gets to the house. We'll also still be able to use our covered porch with that down when the sun's out.

If you're looking for an awning, this is an option you should consider. It was a positive experience. The sales fellow and installers all did a good job. They were all pleasant people to deal with. The product has worked as advertised. The rep went over all the options, took measurements, looked the area over, explained what we could do, and that is what we did. The install took a couple of hours, and they cleaned everything up. We're satisfied with that. It required several men to do and it was a second balcony. They had to bring the awning over the railing instead of going through the house and I'm sure it was not an easy install. Once they got it up, it was an easier install, but they had to get up to that level. It's heavy.
The construction looks like good quality from a feature standpoint. We got the remote operator. That makes life a lot easier. We also have the wind protection device, which we enjoy having that, though it surprised us at first how much motion it would take on the setting they had before it would retract. We set it down one more notch. Even then, there were times when we look at it and say, "You would have thought it would have retracted." We hope nothing happens. It was cool that we were able to do that and the temperature difference was significant by the time we were up on the balcony.

I'm very happy with the quality of the awning. It has a warranty of tornadoes, hurricanes, and a tree falling. It didn't matter what happened. The rep told us 100% guaranteed, which fortunately, we haven't had to deal with that yet. But when there is a lot of rain and the awning is out, there'll be some sagging, holding that water. So, then when we pull that awning in, it's just a river flowing off of it. That's not a big deal. But I am concerned, is it gonna stretch that canvas? For example, if we're gone all day, and it pours down rain all day, and the awning is out, I'm not there to put it in to prevent that from happening. So, that would be the only design flaw. Apparently, there is a slant there. It might just be that the canvas part needs to be tightened up because it is on a slope where the water should just run right off. But it does collect. You don't realize it because it's not dropping down. The water can collect 2 or 3 inches deep on it, though.

The salesperson was very forthright. He told us about what SunSetter can offer and what they can do like it was. We wanted the awning and we were an easy sell but there was a little bit of a speed bump on the installation. It was supposed to be on a certain day. Some guy that seemed to deal out of his trunk came out, which was a turn-off. I wasn't impressed with his personality at all. Also, he didn't have all the equipment, which I couldn't understand. If you have an appointment to install something, you check your stuff to make sure you have everything. But that didn't happen so he had to come back. It was another three weeks because stuff had to be ordered.
It seemed weird that a big company didn't have the wherewithal to complete the job. We waited for a while until somebody else came to install the awning, which was a huge improvement. Then the company of the guy that installed it ran a check on where it was, and they couldn't find it. So they ordered it again and it took about 10 weeks. So I wasn't real happy about that.
But after they notified me it was there, they scheduled me two days later and the guy came out and put it up in one day. So that was a very good response on their part. We're also happy about the SunSetter awning. It's nice and it allows us to sit out there outside. Along with the awning, I got an evaporative cooler and we turn that on. The awning has a wonderful screen that you can roll down so we can block the late afternoon sun, too. I picked the fabric. It's a heavier fabric and it doesn't fade so badly in the sun. It's really lovely. It'll be there for a long time, but it was probably the most expensive thing in the book. Quality is fine. Part of the cost was also because I did the bronze arms because the armature had broken on the other one. I ordered the bronze instead of the white. The white was cheaper, but I have a dark green awning and I didn't want a bunch of white arms sticking out. We love the awning. It's wonderful, and it'll last for a long time because it's top quality. Customer service was great, too. When we were ordering the awning, the rep asked what color. My house is green, so I wanted something green. "And do you want stripes or do you want solid?" He showed me and I got stripes. "The little part flap that hangs down, do you want that straight or do you want that scalloped?" Everything he asked me, I would ask him, "Is one cheaper than the other? Is it cheaper to go straight instead of scallop? Is it cheaper to go solid?" "Everything, nope, nope, nope." I got to choose what I wanted. I asked because I know how they could add things and it would make our price jump up. But it was just like what I wanted it.
It took the installers a little over two hours to install the awning, which wasn't bad. The awning is 19 x 11. It's a good size. It's a retractable with a remote. They showed us the handle to crank it in case our motor or electricity didn't work. We've never had one or know anybody who got one, so we had questions and they were very good answering those. They knew what they were doing.

My experience with the SunSetter Awning was very positive. The salesperson was thorough and the installation people were efficient and experienced. We were very pleased with the whole situation. The awning is about 18 inches wide and it reaches out 10 feet and the quality is very good. The patio is in the sun in the afternoon. If it's a sunny day, we put the awning down, because it's cooler for us and it keeps the house cooler even if we're not out there.

I needed an awning to cover my deck. I had one many years ago where I used to live and very much enjoyed it. I found we couldn't sit out on the deck in the sun. So, we needed an awning. I needed a retractable one. We got a retractable, roof-mounted one from SunSetter. It's black brown color, 18 foot wide, and about 12 foot reach. I'm 100% satisfied with it. I recommended SunSetter to a friend, and he also had one installed. The only thing I don't like about them is they promised me a $100 gift card for a referral, and I've been waiting for three months for it.

The awning is retractable and super helpful. It provides a lot of good shade from the sun and covers more of the porch than what was covered before. The porch faces towards the evening sun so any time you're eating dinner out there, there's direct sunlight even with the roof. The awning extends the shade and it's held up well in the rain. It dries out well. It's working great.

The awning was the one that was electrically powered so you could put it out and take it in easily, and that was something I was looking for. I didn't want something that was permanent. The first time we dealt with SunSetter was a couple of years ago. The guy made a good presentation, but we weren't ready to get it then. The weird thing was, there was no follow-up. I was really surprised at that, then a year and a half later, we decided we wanted to go ahead and get an awning. I called the company, and they had no information that we had spoken to them before, so we started from scratch. The guy who came out and did a presentation evidently had some family problems, so I couldn't get in touch with him, so the company assigned somebody else to me. He came out, and we got everything set up. It rocked along, then the company called and they wanted payment before we had ever even received the awning, much less had it installed. That was ridiculous.
Every time I would call the company back, they never responded. Finally, I had to work through the salesman and we finally got the awning and got it up. However, when the two guys came to put it up, one of them fell and was injured. This doesn't normally happen with them, but they thought they had the awning up, then it fell down. They came back and fixed it temporarily and had to order a new part. When that came in, they came back out and fixed it permanently.
The subsidiary group under SunSetter that handled this area was very inefficient, and I wasn't impressed with the process, but we really like the awning. It's very sturdy and well made, and it works great and looks nice. I highly recommend the awning. I would also give the name of the salesman to get in touch with and tell them about how the company did and to be wary of working with the subsidiary company.

I heard about SunSetter through Costco and after doing some research, I liked the features that they had on their unit. The fabric availability, the width, and the features that the awning had encouraged me to go with that particular model, and with the Costco pricing, it made it very affordable. Even though I had looked up online the SunSetter direct website, my dealings were all through Costco. I dealt directly via online order with Costco, and my order was delivered in a timely fashion. It included the product, the instructions and all the other details as well as the installation hardware, which made it very do-it-yourself-friendly. I did the install, and my son helped me.
My awning is electric, and it comes in and out via remote. It also has a wind sensor feature, so in high winds, it'll automatically roll back in. Having the feature of the retractable awning was more attractive to us. We're in South Florida, and for our patio, we didn't wanna have a permanent structure out there that might be damaged by a hurricane. I'm definitely satisfied with the product. It provides shade for our patio area, and it functions at this point flawlessly. If someone's considering an awning, they need to definitely look at SunSetter seriously because I've had a very good experience with them.

I built a second floor deck and I wanted an awning over the deck. I bought one from a third party salesperson of SunSetter, MooreShade4Less, and they sold me something that they should have never sold me, because on the second floor, they didn't take the wind into consideration. The installer was fine but he wasn't part of SunSetter either. He was subcontracted by MooreShade4Less and I paid him directly. MooreShade4Less doesn't respond to emails and phone calls. The finance company that I'm financed through is having trouble and they had my account on hold until they rectify the situation with wind for the awning.
When I called SunSetter, they said that they could not do anything for me because I bought it through MooreShade4Less. So now I'm stuck with an awning that nobody wants to do anything with. It cost $8,000 and it wasn't cheap. So, it's really got me upset. MooreShade4Less shouldn't be selling awnings because they do a really bad job at customer service. But I don't have any issues with the product other than the fact that it doesn't work for my application. It works well and it does what it's supposed to do but it's constantly out of adjustment because of the wind on the second floor.

I would recommend Sunsetter. But I hope that the communication is a bit better. The first time, everything went flawlessly and we didn't have any issues. We got SunSetter Awnings in 2021. We had a great experience. Any time we called, we were able to get a quick answer. But this last time was not a good experience. We ordered another set for our deck off of our bedroom. We're still waiting to get our lighting. And they brought the wrong one out the second time. So, they had to take that back again. The accuracy and getting it right has been an issue. We had to have them come out. I had to call a couple of times. It was the owner and his wife who takes care of the back end business part of it. But it was harder to get ahold of them than it was the people who whoever they contracted to do the installation. Their communication between the installers and the company owners was a little off.
The awnings were a taupe and retractable. If the wind caught it, it automatically retracted them back. They also had the screen that you could wind down in front, if you had sun coming in the front part of it. They're easy to work. We love them. We have sun that comes in facing to the west at night. Especially on hot days like this, it helps with the windows and the rooms in the back end of our house. We have sun that comes in facing to the west at night. I got a 10 by 10 and if I had to do it again, I would have made it slightly larger. But it's good for what it does. The salesman from SunSetter was good and the boys who came over and put it up for me were excellent. They were here, done, and gone. I was very impressed. The awning is 14 feet by whatever goes out to extend it. It works. I push the button and it goes the other way, and that was all I was after. I'm impressed with the quality of it too. The awning appears to be well made and operates as advertised. The problem arises if you need service to remedy a problem. When I contacted the customer service department about a problem when the awning opened and closed. The service rep. attempted to diagnose the problem (which was incorrect) because it is a DIY repair. I informed the service rep. that I will not repair the awning myself, which is less than one year old, that I had contacted the installation company two times without any results, the installation contractor had made an appointment that was not kept without a phone call. I was told that by the service rep "Sunsetter has no control over the installation company's". I stated I want to talk to a supervisor, none were available, I received a voicemail a week later stating that I should contact the customer service department.
At the time of purchase the impression is the entire sale and installation are done by SunSetter. It is not. The sale is done by a second party company who then contracts a third party to do the installation. In their literature it states the awning is professionally installed. The receipt from the installation company just indicates the amount paid for the installation nothing about warranty for the installation. We had to contact the Better Business Bureau about the problem with SunSetter and MoreShades4Less (retailer) to get the problem resolved. Both companies responded quickly after contacting BBB to resolve the problem.

The SunSetter awning is a very good product. My father-in-law knew an elderly person that had one on her house that she no longer used and she wanted it removed. My father-in-law removed it for her and he thought he could use it on his house, but it was too big. He asked us if we wanted it, and it sat on our deck perfectly. It was great, and we had it there for 15 years. It might have been 10 years old already as far as we could figure out, and finally, it faded out completely. We got a hailstorm one day and got some holes in it, and we still had it another year after that. We were doing our deck over, and we decided to buy another awning 'cause we liked the first one so much.
I went online, looked at SunSetter and I found the people that I could get it from. I had it delivered and put it up myself. We got the basic unit, just the awning with the equipment on the sides, to raise and lower it with the crank. We also bought a cover, which was the only thing that was extra. Our first awning lasted a long time and that's why we bought another one. The quality is there. The material in the old one we had might have been a little heavier than the new one, but it still looks like it's very good quality. We go out on the deck a lot. We have a table out there. We have picnics and eat dinner out there with the awning, and sometimes we read a book. It's very nice.

We have a new patio that we were installing and we have four umbrellas across our patio that we use. I'm tired of using umbrellas and our best friends have awnings that they had installed on their house. So, we asked them about it and they said it was SunSetter. We had a guy come out and he was a typical salesperson trying to do a fast sales pitch. So, we slowed him down and told him we needed some questions answered. And he had an answer for every question that I had.
We did a 20 by 13 awning and it's the biggest awning that you can do. I really like it and I've enjoyed it since we had it. We had lights put on it as well as the wind sensor. The awning is used every day because the whole back of our house is glass. We get the morning sun and it just glares in there. But I can put the awning on and out, and it takes the heat off coming into the house on the glass. So, that's the biggest reason that we did it.
We've had a few issues with the installation of the awning but other than that, we're enjoying it. I'm still a little concerned about the wind control that it has on it. I have seen it work, but when it's out the full length, it doesn't work as well as I would think it should. But maybe the sensitivity has to be adjusted on it. The SunSetter guy told me that we got to watch it and bring it in a little bit. And if I bring it in halfway, then the wind sensor kicks in and pulls it back in when it gets too windy. We saw that happen over the weekend.
