At my church, I am the local missions director and help run a food pantry. We work out through the backside of the church on the south side, no shade, but the last two summers have just about killed us. I've seen SunSetter Awnings over the years, but I've never had one. After we decided that's what we were going to do, I started googling retractable awnings near me, and they came up.
I kind of let some of my men take on this project. It's a little bigger than we originally were going to get because we needed something bigger to meet our needs. It might be a 10 x 10 or 10 x 12. The color is a tan and green stripe. I didn't get the style-up edging, and I just got the plain straight edge. It is also retractable and has a remote control.
We haven't got it installed yet, and it should be installed within the next two weeks. Still, I felt like the price was very fair. I was expecting it to be a lot higher.

We had a SunSetter Awning before and it lasted 25 years. We liked the way it held up, so we got the automatic one that goes back in if it's more than 45 miles an hour wind. It looks like it's really nice, high quality. The people down in Wilmington that put it in there did a real nice job. They were courteous and knew what they were doing.

I had a park trailer, and a big 20-foot awning on it, and I loved it. I sit out here in the morning and drink my coffee. Last year, I turned around and got a park house, and it has no awning on it. All I got was a little umbrella I sat under. I told my wife that I’m going to get an awning put on.
My son told me about SunSetter Awnings. So I looked it up on the internet, read about it, and gave them a call. We worked out a deal, and it’s on the house outside and underneath. I chose the 20-foot awning. It got the crank, wind sensor, valance out in front, and loopy loop. Everything is on it except lights, because I didn’t want them. I didn’t think I'd get enough use out of the lights for the cost of it. The quality of it is great.
The installers that came knew what they were doing and were professionals. They associated, talked, and worked. They didn't ignore me. They explained different things about my house. They cleaned up the mess, and nothing was dirty. There’s a little mark on the siding, and they cleaned that off. Those guys were top-notch and perfect. If I was to hire them again, I would do it. If somebody comes down here, I would recommend them.
I have only one complaint about the salesman. We went and discussed the price, what was going to be delivered, and everything. I asked about writing a check for half of it. Instead of writing about a check, I handed him a credit card. He said that’s the same as cash.
Ten days later, once we did the deal, my daughter-in-law got the bill. He tacked me on about $105 or $110 more. I used the credit card, and he tacked it on. If he had told me that he didn't know if he took it or not before, it would be ok, but I didn’t like how he presented himself. That’s the only downgrade I got with them.

I had recently put in a pool and the area outside my patio gets a lot of sun. My friend in my neighborhood and her husband had purchased a SunSetter awning about three years ago. I had been over several times to sit under it with her and I just really liked it. So I called SunSetter and I set up an appointment. Their rep came out, looked at the area for me and walked me through what to expect. We went over prices, I thought about it, and then I chose them. I went with the premium awning which has a 15-year warranty on it. I got a color with a little bit of a contrast to the siding of my house. I also got the LED lights on it and the wind gauge.
The installation went so smoothly and was just less than three hours. There were two guys and they didn’t miss a beat from the time they pulled up in the driveway. They took time afterwards to show me how to open and close the awning, how to do the lights and how the wind gauge works.
In the evenings when we’re out grilling, I intend on sitting under it when it’s full sun. I used it the other day when it was raining. I normally would not sit outside in the rain, but I did. It is a quality product and would 100% recommend. The team that installed it knows it, supports it and stands by it. And since I put it in, I’ve been getting a lot of reviews on Facebook and they’ve been all very positive.

I chose SunSetter because of the fact that they were associated with Costco. The research that I did online indicated that they were a very reputable company, too. I am a bit disappointed. We had two awnings ordered, and apparently, the person who came out and measured the smaller second awning provided some errors. My understanding is that the team that came and installed the first awning saw that error and made corrections in the measurements for the second awning. They're going to finish the job tomorrow. In addition, they didn't provide a long enough cranking mechanism for the big awning. I find extending the awning to be quite easy, but retracting it requires a lot of power. Fortunately, I can do that, but it's a workout.
I gather that the person who came out and made the first measurements was not familiar with how the financing was arranged through Costco and also made errors on the smaller secondary awning. But I don't have a problem with that because those problems seem to have been recognized and I hope that they will be corrected tomorrow. It's been windy here in Georgetown, Texas. I had to retract the awning because I'm not exactly sure how much wind it can take. But the aesthetics are just perfect. It really makes our new deck that we built very attractive.

We had an electric awning with a manual backup installed by SunSetter. We've engaged it twice and it's worked fine. We enjoy it and like the aesthetic appeal.
The installer was very efficient and his crew was able to put it up within four hours. He did a preliminary walkthrough explaining what was happening and how it was going to be installed. He was very thorough before the installation even started, so I knew what was happening.

Setting up umbrellas every year was tiring, so I decided to look into purchasing an awning. We came about SunSetter while we were having our chimney cleaned.
It was fantastic working with the person who helped us. We bought an automatic awning and although it hasn’t been installed yet. I’m going to say it probably falls right in what they cost.

I went with SunSetter Awnings because of the name brand. It was a good experience, and I had good people to deal with. I thought the price was a little bit high, but I also know that I got a good quality product. The installation process was good. There was one little issue, but they’re going to fix that.

The awning I got from SunSetter is 14x10, with black and white and gray stripes. It has LED lights and the wind thing that brings it in. I had two other awnings from Shades of Cool, and I just like them and wanted another one when I moved.
The install was done by the Shades of Cool people. They had a hell of a time putting it in. They couldn’t get it working because the motor wasn’t talking to the remotes. They spoke with the help people who got them through it, so they finally got fixed today.
They spent two days on it, so the equipment is not impressive. I haven’t touched it because it was overheating from having to jiggle with it so much. When they work, I love them. We face west, so we’re gonna be using it a lot.

I wanted to remove an existing awning that was stationary and put in a retractable one. When I went online, SunSetter came up with lots of reports and pictures, so I saw how they looked. I called them and went from there.
Purchasing was very easy. Whatever people told me would happen actually did in terms of how it got scheduled and everything, so we were quite pleased.
I like the new awning just fine, but I was a little disappointed in the way they mounted it on the roof when I expected it to be under the overhang. It was probably necessary, so it’s okay. The gentleman who came to install it was very polite and did a good job. He did it all in one day.

I love the awning. I already have it sitting out here because it's so nice to have a covered patio. The SunSetter Awnings team was very professional, did a really good job, did it quickly, and the salesperson, Dawn, was very nice to me. She knows her business and knows exactly what she's doing. I would’ve liked it to be less expensive, but I wouldn't have gone ahead with it if I wasn't okay with the price.

I lived in California and decided to purchase an awning at Sunsetter because of the west-facing sun in the afternoon. We chose a manual awning with a bold stripe to highlight the exterior colors of our house. We’ve barely used it since it’s still March. They installed it early on purpose before the heat started, but it seems relatively easy to use.

The installation guys did a 5 star job. The appointment scheduling part of it was sheer disappointment. The number of times they changed appointments was ridiculous. Finally, the final product is not even what I had originally selected! It’s a different color altogether! Nobody bothered to check with me/notify me, nothing! Emailed them about this, no response yet. Only consolation is that this was through Costco, so I think there is hope! The installation guy assured that someone will reach out to me about this with a solution. Overall, disappointing experience.

I am extremely disappointed in this product. I purchased one to replace one that had failed after 6 years- all the other blinds are fine. The new one is far inferior- it looks slightly different, does not have the "EasyShade" logo like my others, and upon installation it is already FRAYING on the edges which NONE of my over 6 year old shades have! At $950.00 for a single shade I would expect similar quality to my past order. Would NEVER order again - seems this shade is a fake made in China.

I would love to give you an opinion, both pro and con on the awning but I have not received it. It was ordered on December 19, 2024. It is now March 10, 2025. I have not heard from the salesperson or the factory about the status of my order. At this point I don’t care if I have it or not but if they’re not going to get it to me, they need to refund my half payment that I made are back in December. And a little goodwill compensation on their part at this point being the paperwork said it would only take four weeks and we are now looking at 13 weeks. So based on this information, I have given you at this point I don’t think you want me writing a review because it would not be kind. Thank you.

The installers arrived at 7:45 am. We had a brief discussion of placement of awning. He got right to work and quickly installed the awning. Then he adjusted everything, and attached power cord to wall. We then reviewed the operation of the awning, paid the balance and he left. Job well done. The only improvement I would recommend is to install the power cord in conduit. That would make it a little better. It is early March so it will be a couple of months before we can enjoy it.

My wife's ex-mother-in-law lives next door to us and she had a lattice thing. She sits out there and the sun hits. The lattice thing would fall off when the wind would blow badly, so for Christmas, I got her an awning and that blocks the sun on that side. Initially, I googled “sunshade” and SunSetter was the only one that came up, but I have bought an awning for my work trailer from them before as well.
I purchased my gift online and the only thing that was a little confusing was they should do something better with the overall dimensions. The one that I purchased would not fit between the column and the house, so I had to move it. I was gonna mount it underneath, and I had to move it to the face, but it wasn't too hard. It was self-explanatory with the pocket system. Still, SunSetter didn't have good enough dimensions. I looked as hard as I could, but I never saw anything. Besides that, the awning was great. My wife's ex-mother-in-law thinks so too.

The awning is a good product, and the fact that I could get 0% for 12 months was the deal clincher for me. The sales guy was great. When he came, I wasn't even intending to buy anything, even though I wanted it. I wanted him to look at our house and get an estimate of what it would cost. But we talked about it and before the end, I just said, “We'll have to do it next year.” Because we just remodeled and moved in there, so we had a lot of expenses. But then he told me their offer and I got it done. I don't have to worry about waiting until the spring to do it. We got the retractable one and it had all the safety features. It was perfect for us. We live at the top of a hill, so there's fierce winds, and that was part of the reason I wanted that model. It puts itself back up and then we don't have to worry about it.
The installers were great. They were very professional. We don't get that a lot out here in the wild. They took their time. I thought it might take them around three hours but it took them about five hours. They made sure they got everything in to the proper part of the structure, and into the studs. They did an excellent job. It looks beautiful. It works perfect.

SunSetter Awnings is an old name. Also, we moved into a new community here in Camarillo in California. One of the neighbors had SunSetter put in and told us about them. I was very impressed. We also had an issue with internal shades that we needed to do. We went to the company that we knew. It was highly recommended for the interior shades and realized that they also did retractable awnings. We saw SunSetter that was displayed in their showroom. We liked it.
The installation was very impressive. The crew that was sent was diligent. They were one of the best teams I've seen in doing a job like that. But the interior was a different crew for the SunSetter. I got a call from one of the owners of it and told them how impressed we were with the people that they sent for both the interior and the exterior jobs that we had contracted with them. It went very smoothly.
We had high winds here in Camarillo, most of Southern California last week. When they came, it was not too windy. The intention was to work for the entire day and to have it completed in that one day. By the early part of the afternoon, it was too windy. They had them on the wall of the house, but they did not want to extend the arms to do any of the adjustments and leveling, because the winds were too high. They had to come back a week later and a little smaller crew. They installed the light option that we ordered and wind sensors, and leveled it. It was a day and a half when they put it. We were impressed with the people that put it in.
One of the things we like about retractable awnings is much of the week, we're not gonna extend them. Summertime, probably more often because we will have more functions out on our patio. But I like the idea because we have a nice view at the back. That means when we're inside the house, we can retract those awnings and get the full effect of the view. It's a good product. It's what we were looking for.

I have quite a large deck and I've been wanting to get something to use on it to give me some shade mornings in the summertime when it's so hot. I've known a few people that have SunSetter, and they really love them. I knew there were cheaper brands out there, but SunSetter has a very good reputation. I probably could not have done it 'cause I'm on Social Security, but my son got it for me. He asked me what I wanted for Christmas, and I told him I wanted a SunSetter.
The sales rep who came out was awesome. He was very knowledgeable, explained everything I needed to know and did not try to push anything on me, which I liked. He showed me my options. He measured everything and told me what I could use or what was available. He did what he said he would do. When he said he would come, he came. I wanted to get something that was motorized. There were several patterns that you could choose from, and I chose a pattern that I thought I would like. Now that I've got it, I love it. I got some accessories with it as well. I got the wind sensor and the metal cover that goes over it to help protect it. I got the no-fault warranty too.

Spoke with gentleman after 3 weeks to get an estimated installation date. I was given 3 reasons why he couldn't in an unpleasant tone. Another gentleman then explained it would be 8-9 weeks before installation. Since I didn't hear any more, I left the city. I think it was 12 or 13 weeks before they made contact. While I was out of town, I received several calls telling me they would install on a certain date and asked me to confirm. I never confirmed.
Needless to say, they showed up without confirmation. They woke up my neighbors, ringing bells and knocking on doors. It's like I was dealing with a totally inept company of clowns. 1st call to me should have been to ask when they could install. Since I never confirmed their date, they wasted time and money by showing up at my door. After hearing from my neighbors, I called them to let them know I didn't know when I would be returning. So, I have not received the solar shade yet. I do know that your company may have missed the opportunity to sell me 3 more. When I receive this one, if I am not satisfied, I will file a dispute with my credit card company. It's a shame, because the salesman was very pleasant and did his job making the sale.

It's an option we could have got on it when the wind blows, if the wind blows too hard, it would close automatically if we weren't home. But we chose not to get that option. We just close it up before we leave home. We don't leave it out. It's great quality. We've had it going on four years. It hasn't faded. As a matter of fact, I got two awnings. Sunsetter is terrific at calling back when I call them and they always send someone out. Everyone has been so polite, including the workers, but so far, my experience with them has been a little crazy. On 9/26, I ordered an awning, then it was installed on 11/22. On 12/27, they came for an adjustment because it was off-kilter, then on 12/29, the retractable arms that go back and forth broke altogether. One of them fell off, and with the weight, the other one also collapsed right in front of my window. I waited to get my awning working and when Sunsetter came back the other day, they wanted a service charge for it.
Sunsetter's awnings are beautiful and I know people here that have them and have not had the problem that I have had. However, since I've had so much trouble with my awning, I'm not happy. I am also dissatisfied with the young man that asked me for $350 for a service call and he was not giving me any bill. I want my awning fixed. The installation part was good. The installers came and did what they said they would do. The girl showed me how to work everything. We have some issues with when they could come and install it. It snowed and it was too cold, so they couldn't drill into the siding. We have opened it when they were here to make sure it all works. But we have not used ours yet. It was installed late in the year. Our in-law's quality is great. They get wind up there. The awning would shut when it got windy. The installers shook it a bit to show me that the wind sensor is working. They showed me how to use the remote and added a valance type thing on the front. We use the awning up at the cabin all the time. We like it. We'll enjoy ours. It goes out the full length of the deck. We would recommend it. However, the sales process was a little frustrating. It depends on who the service provider is or the salesperson. You can get different people if you're in different areas.
My husband was frustrated with all the back and forth. One of the days, we stayed home from work because they would come install. They called us the day of and said, "It never made it to the warehouse. They can't deliver it today." They had to move our installation date at one point for that. The sale got lost in the system. SunSetter Awnings never placed the order. That's why we got it much later in the year. We didn't get to use it in the fall because it never got approved and it never went through as an order. It was a two-month wait.
We were told some different pricing. It came back and something had to get approved through a manager because we had a brochure with some deals. We were told we would get some accessories free but it was this accessory or that. The file we had was very misleading. We ended up spending more than what we hoped for. It seemed SunSetter Awnings made guesses on the pricing versus it being, "Here's a 10-foot SunSetter and this is the cost." It's sketchy. It was a year later from when our in-laws purchased. But theirs was a 20-footer and ours was a 10-footer. We paid almost the same amount that they did.

The salesperson was good. He was the local guy that does everything around here in San Diego. He was pretty much no nonsense type and gave us a deal on certain things, but everything including the installation cost ended up being still a lot more money than I thought. The prices have gone up a lot in the last six years.
The time to put the SunSetter awning up was within 5 hours. I was worried about the weight of it and how they had to put it up there. I'm checking the wall that it's on, making sure that it stays up there, and so far, it seems to be a good job. We have southerly windows, and this time of year, the sun blasts in here, so the awning protects the windows. It's not helping as much sitting outside right now yet because the sun's so low in the sky, and I'm sorry I didn't get the extra optional shade that drops down in front of the awning. But other than that, I know it's gonna be a whole lot better this summer when the sun's right overhead because we could not use the patio without adding something like the awning.

I also liked the reviews and the ease of installing their awnings. I've seen and watched a lot of videos on them. Their team was fine but there was a two-month delay in getting over here. They had a problem with the solar unit being shipped on time. Other than that, I haven't installed the awnings yet since it's winter here. But it should be straightforward and shouldn't be a problem. SunSetter has a really good product and I'm going to order another one in springtime for another window.

Our previous Sunsetter awning was manually operated and it was 30 years old or more. It was getting very beat up and wasn't opening and closing anymore. Besides that, we were happy with the product and we assumed that a remote controlled awning would be an even better investment. The installers were very wonderful people. They were very professional, courteous and cleaned up after themselves. They went step through step on how to operate the awning properly and what we needed to do in case of an emergency. Overall, my experience with Sunsetter was fabulous. I was extremely satisfied and would highly recommend it.

We got a SunSetter awning to get my husband out of the sun because he gets skin cancer really easy. The SunSetter team was nice. As far as the awning, we got the remote control. You can work it manually or by the remote control. The only thing that I have against it is that they didn't tell me that when the wind blows you can't have it out. I thought you could be able to sit out if it was misty rain or there's light rain, but they said no water can get on it. It rained all summer, so we haven't hardly used it. Other than that, the quality of the product is good.

I've heard about SunSetter before and I've seen their product. A family friend had one and I was on them, but the particular one I wanted is the biggest one they make. I tried to find the best time to get the best deal. On Labor Day weekend, there was a deal going on with Costco and I bought the awning. It was a good, smooth process and the team was solid. It just takes a little while for them to make them. It's six weeks.
People can install some of the smaller ones on their own, but the awning I got required a professional to install it 'cause it's so big. Installation wasn't part of the purchase and I knew I couldn't do it on my own. I had to find a local dealer that specialized in SunSetters and found one to hang it up for me. It's about $1,000 to get somebody to professionally put it up, but it was worth it. The awning is working really well. I got one of the nicer ones and the only concern I have in the back of my mind is how long that lasts. The real test will be after a couple years, seeing how the fabric holds up.

I'm happy with SunSetter Awnings. They were on time. They did what they said they would do. The product was as represented. I purchased two awnings from them. They're both retractable. I wouldn't have got the second one had I not liked the first one.

SunSetter Awnings was a name brand and we knew that it was good quality. Everybody has heard of it. We got the retractable awning. It's green and tan striped with a scalloped edge. It's the biggest one that SunSetter made. It was supposed to come on July 8th, and it didn't come until October. SunSetter kept saying it was backordered. I was not happy with that. The company that we got it through said that it wasn't anything they were doing. They were trying their best to get it through. It was whoever made the awning, it wasn't getting it to them quickly enough. That was months, so the whole summer, we couldn't use it and that was disturbing to me.

Then I had Ryan at SunSetter come out and he gave me a reasonable number and I like the product. The awning we got is pretty standard. It's motorized and it's installed underneath the eaves in the backyard. The installation was done quickly. Ryan and his compatriot came out and they had it done in about two hours. We're very happy with the awning at this particular point and we're waiting for the summer so we can use it.

It held up well. We use it all summer long because we have a big deck on the front of our house, and we sit out there all summer long. So, it's left out in the summer, and then we roll it up in the winter. It held well during the storms. Overall, our SunSetter experience has been fantastic. We've recommended it to a lot of people. We just bought a new house that's on a lake and we wanted something to cover us on the back porch facing the lake. We have another place in Milton, New Hampshire and we'd already been in touch with the SunSetter people out of Maine. So, we already learned a lot about it. I just looked up who services our area in Salem. Sean, the rep, was great. He came out to the house and worked with us on the selection. Then, we went out to his office and he showed us all the ins and outs. He gave us a fair price. When I used the awning a weekend ago, our receptacle was blown up so I have to put a new one. The installers tested the awning when they were out there and they had us open and close it with the remote. We had a new kitchen and we looked at multiple different options and SunSetter seemed to be the most ideal choice to shade off part of our deck. There were two separate local installers and they did not communicate, and it may be that one of them poached on the other one. We asked for one company and ended up with the other one. I didn't find out that we were dealing with the other company until I went to write the check for the deposit. But it all worked out fine. The experience was great with the people who installed it. It took eight weeks for the awning to be made and it went from being fall to early winter. We bought the awning to help shade the deck for when we use it and it became too cold to do that. We also used the awning to shade the kitchen windows when the full sun was on in the morning. But in the winter, we didn't want to do that because it warmed the room, so we've used the awning exactly once since it was installed.
There was a question of location in terms of whether the awning was centered on the window or the side, and we told the installers what we were trying to do. But we haven't had a chance to test the awning in the time when we are most likely to be using it and it may well be that it's fine where it is. But the one day we used it, we were putting it up to help block the sun in the morning because it was low and coming in the north, but it didn't block it because the shade was a little too far in one direction. I would have hoped that it would have been more all-season, that it would have worked in the winter when you wanted to shade out the lights. If we wanted it to be more of the sunblock in the kitchen, it probably should have been lined up about a foot further to the right.
We had a little problem with the remote activating the one time we used it, but it may have been that we weren't giving it enough time to respond. Overall, the product seems to be fine but we didn’t get strong enough support at the time of installation to get it in the right place. The price was good though. I might have expected it to be more expensive than it was.

We've been using the deck more and we had a table out there that we'd sit at and it had one of the umbrella-type things on it. But with the awning, especially in the summertime, we're looking forward to it. It'll give us more time where we can be outside and will be more useful. We came to a place where we financially could do it so we did it. There's not a lot of options for where we are and SunSetter is the most accessible. We got one of their promotional things and then, we talked to the people. They were clear with the directions and answers to our questions so, it felt like the right thing to do.
We had to put in a new electrical access plug to have it in the right place for what we did and a young man handled that and it went well. We had to keep the awning on the deck for a little while but when the installers brought it out, they were efficient. We're happy with the SunSetter product. We like it. It looks nice. I like the way they mounted it. It seems like it's gonna be really durable. They have very nice and very accommodating people. It's just it took forever since we saw the guy in Costco. It took three months to finally get the product installed. Then they had charged the credit card more than a month before it was even put up. So, the process was clunky in that regard. It could have been a little bit smoother. Then some of the parts that they needed were not shipped and they had to wait. So, we had an appointment, the guys came out, and they were gonna install it. Then they said, “Oh, we don't have the right parts.”
What was weird to me was that they said, “Okay. We don't have the parts.” Once they got the parts, then the company called me and said, “Yeah. We can come and install it in about four weeks.” I was like, “Why didn't they have an appointment set? They knew the parts were gonna be there in two weeks. Then have it set before.” So, the length of time that it took from the initial consultation with the guy at Costco to finally have it installed was goofy. It was three to four months. I read about three vendors, and most of the feedback were leaning more towards SunSetter's quality. I picked that one and ordered what I needed. I decided I was gonna get two awnings, which was a lot. It was about $10,000 worth of stuff. I got the first awning and I liked it. I decided to get the second one, but it came in with the wrong color. I ordered a light beige color and it came in dark brown, which was a huge piece. That was no fault of the installer though. It was just the wrong cover, and I couldn't have it sitting there right beside of another one that was beige.
The awning is about 18 feet and it has lights. It was the better awning and had a nice cover on it. It happened to reach out the depth of the patio that it’s covering. So, it fit just right as far as the coverage went. I hadn't used it much since I've had it 'cause we're still waiting on everything to be finished. It would have been done by now, but they had to reorder the cover, and I'm still waiting on that.
There are two sides to my experience. There's the ordering side and then there's the installation side. There was nothing wrong with the installation. That guy was right on the ball. He can put an awning up blindfolded. He was very smart, did a great job and didn't mess around. He didn't stand around and just shoot the bow and then waste my time. He got that awning put up quickly. On the other hand, the ordering side didn't work out as quite as good, but I would need to have more orders than just one to qualify them and get a trend. That was just a one-time thing. If I was to order that stuff again, it would probably not be a problem. I told one of my neighbors about SunSetter and they're talking to them now about putting an awning up for themselves.

Our SunSetter awning's quality is good. It was missing a part, but it took me a couple emails to get someone to send it out to me. Then at the end of that, I emailed and they said, "Oh, there's a delay." But they didn't say how long it would be. After the third email of asking, I got something that said they were waiting on parts. It was gonna be another month. It ended up being an extra six weeks. So, it was twice as long as I thought. They should have said as I was ordering, "Hey, instead of six weeks, it's gonna be 13 weeks. Do you still want this product?"
I've been asking for status. They kept sending me the same canned response every time I sent an email. It wasn't somebody actually reading the email. It was just a canned robot response, which I thought was kind of lame. They could also improve on their website. That went through really easily. Then he came with his helper for the installation. They came at 5:30 at night and worked till 9:00. They were able to attach the awning to the joists and not have to build an additional lumber to secure it. They were real happy about the way the house was built. I was too, since it seemed very secure for the 275-pound awning.
The only negative was the payment. When I put a deposit down, it was half the total amount. Before I received the awning, the SunSetter people in Ohio called me. The lady said the other half was due because it was received. At the time, I hadn't received it, but she was rather insistent, almost threatening, saying that it was in my contract, which I read. I debated that I didn't receive it, but apparently, the person that was gonna install it received it so I went ahead and paid it. But why would you pay for something you haven't even seen yet, let alone have it installed? But it worked out. The awning wasn't damaged, although there was a part missing. And after we had the awning from SunSetter installed and everything got paid and we've used it, it doesn't really fulfill what we thought it was gonna do. It does block 90% of the light but we were looking for something darker. We didn't realize that when we spoke to the salesperson.
So far, things worked fine. It looks okay from the outside of the house, and it functions with the remote control from the inside of the house. So, it's performing the way we thought it would. It works properly. We just wish we would have bought a completely blackout shade instead of what we received. I think it's salespeople related on what they told us. He said that this would block out the light, and it doesn't. The price was okay for what we wanted the product to do, but we are currently unhappy with the price that we paid for what it does. When the salesperson was in our house, he saw where our television was and where the windows were. The whole goal of this thing was to allow us to see the television set while the sun was shining. It hasn't done that.

Ours is a tan awning. It's in three pieces for the big windows that are up high. The middle one is big. The two outside ones are smaller. We were told the awning was the only solar option that SunSetter had and that doing the wired options they had would be difficult. So we went with it, but we were also told that it would block sunlight but it doesn't. Also, every side had frain immediately after installation. SunSetter already had to come out to burn off all the frain that happened on the side. They said, "It shouldn't come back now. But if it does, give us a call." As far as the remote control part, two of them work consistently. But the third one, we have to hit the remote a couple of times for it to work. Do your research.

Well, I was looking for some shades and I saw that SunSetter had them on sale with a discount through Costco. I decided to try it out and it looked good. So, I had one put on. The whole process has changed now and I’m very disappointed with it. If you go through Costco, and this is Costco probably demanding this, you have to have someone come out and do a presentation. Or when the reps come out and look at the situation, they decide exactly what to do. Then, they are going to do the installation for you and that is disturbing to me. I did not want that. So, I just recently purchased another shade and had them deliver it directly to me through SunSetter so that I didn't go through Costco because I have my own person to install these for me. It's awkward to install but it's straightforward. SunSetter has good products and customer service, and they’re reliable.

I built a new house and to have the additional coverage for the back patio, it was gonna be an extra $35,000. So, I started researching other ways to try to reduce the cost. I checked SunSetter and I saw they had the remote-controlled awnings. I felt good about the appointment. But the end result wasn't as great as I thought it was gonna be. The reps and I sat down and went through the fabric and the colors, and I gave them half upfront. But I got a call saying I need to pay the remainder. I didn't have the product yet. It was still in shipment and I don't believe in paying 100% for something that I don't have in my possession. So, I had a little battle with them about that.
When I got my awning, it was the wrong color. It still matched my house and I just had the guy install it because I’m a busy salesperson and I don’t have time for that kind of stuff. And as long as my wife is happy with it, that’s all that matters. SunSetter knocked off 600 bucks but the guy could have communicated a little bit better. The level of communication was not strong. Also, the awning is a little pricey for what you get. An independent contractor did the installation but he was good and efficient. He showed me how everything works and talked about the warranty. He gave me his card to give him a call if anything ever happened. So, I was satisfied with his work.

They were also supposed to call me and schedule a time to come out when the product was ready to be installed, but they never did. They just showed up. Their office scheduling system is broken. However, the people who came out to my house and did the work were excellent and the product is excellent, too. The installers were very knowledgeable and quick to do the installation. The people that came to install my SunSetter awning could not have been more wonderful. Once our product came in, which was sooner than we expected, they were there to install it. They came at the right time and it was fascinating to watch them put it up. The kids enjoyed it. My son-in-law was there and he was into it too. They interacted really well with us and with each other.
We have a lake house that gets major sun. We have this deck that's way up high and we were gonna see if we can close it in, but it was gonna cost a gazillion dollars. It was a good experience with SunSetter and I would use them again or recommend them to somebody. The installer did a fine job. He had a little trouble with my siding and had to replace some siding. When he went to install the awning and remove it, whoever installed the siding on my home had glued it rather than tacking it on, so it tore on him. He was very good about coming back and getting it fixed for me. My daughter was there the day he came to repair it and he went over the remote with her again. I was perfectly happy with them.
I asked my son about the price and and he said it was a good price. He had had an awning put on his camper that was half of that just to put on a camper. What I have is retractable if the wind blows. The material seems to be good. The color was true to what the guy showed me that day in the pamphlet. He also showed me how if the wind blew three times, it automatically closed on its own.

Updated on 01//04/2025: My initial order for 4 Solar Easyshades was placed in early October: 3/4 arrived at the end of the October. After repeated calls to Sunsetter to check on the outstanding blind, and being given the story that there were "manufacturing issues", the last blind finally arrived in mid December. Until the last blind arrived, I could not even schedule an install date with my contractor. Thus, all four blinds now finally will be installed mid-January. I ask that all 4 blinds' warranty start times be updated to coincide with the time of the final delivered blind, please. That seems pretty fair, and I hope you will do so. Many thanks for your consideration.
Original review: Ordered 4 blinds 10/8/24. Received 3 blinds fairly promptly, but the fourth is still outstanding, two months later without any further follow up from SunSetter. I called twice, at 3 weeks and at 6 weeks and was told there were production difficulties, but no estimated ship date for the fourth blind. So, needless to say, I have had NONE of the blinds installed as I'd like to have all done at once. So currently 3 blinds are sitting on the floor in my garage, unopened. Thus I cannot really comment on the functionality of the blinds yet. I was told I could create an account to log in and check on the status of the blinds, but I really don't want to feel obliged to set up an account just to follow up on Sunsetter's problem. Better communication and respect for me as their customer would have earned them another star.

The third time, they tried to reschedule for this week, but they canceled on us. We're in communication with them and the last thing we said was we'd like it done this week. We ordered all of those shades and I didn't agree with the shipping being a hundred and something dollars per shade when they all come together at one time. So, instead of it being $100 to ship all six, I've had to pay six different shipping prices. That was frustrating for me.
Number two was that we received all of the items and we had someone install them, and one of the shades ended up being a foot and a half short. They sent us a 7-foot shade. So, we called Sunsetter back and they said, “Okay. No problem. We'll get this expedited out to you.” But it took longer to ship and make one shade than it did for me to get six shades made. Sunsetter blamed the shipping company that they utilize because it was based on their schedule, not SunSetter’s. The actual product is actually decent. It's really nice. During the day, it definitely keeps it private with some air flow still. We've lowered the shades down and had a fireplace going, and it kept the heat in. So, the vinyl shades have done a great job keeping heat in but also keeping bugs out. Overall, we are happy with the shades and I would definitely use them again.

Our daughter is getting married on our porch in our backyard in the spring. So, we're happy to have it.

We replaced the original awning we had and it cost a little more than I anticipated, but it's a good awning. The installers were cordial and did fine work.

We've had SunSetters in the past. We originally purchased one that used solar, but it didn't work. We had it for a few years, and we always had to replace the solar collector, and it became a pain in the butt, so we ended up buying a new one that was a direct plug-in to electricity. It was a weird thing when we were going through the process of trying to send back the solar panels. It was as if SunSetter Awnings' person did not understand language. We repeated 15 times, “No, we don't want this. We want to send it back to you.” He couldn't get it. Even though we had trouble with the solar thing, the service has been good.

Awning and shade ordered in April 2024. Received order in Sept 2024. Was misled by salesperson on several times on this order. It was a very bad and I would not order again from company or recommend it. Just an experience that was would not wish on any purchaser!!!!

The team that installed our awning was GREAT! Very professional, efficient and neat. Our only complaint was that we had to wait so long for the awning! But it is very nice and worth the wait. The awning looks great on the house, and we love the LED lighting. We would highly recommend SunSetter Awnings.

We have a new patio home and we were looking for some shade. We didn't want to have anything permanent like railings or holes obstructing our view. I purchased a motorized awning from SunSetter. The two people who installed the awning were efficient, professional, knowledgeable, and took great pains to make sure that we were satisfied. They have a lot of different features like the motion sensor and wind sensor. We're very satisfied.

This was a disaster. Started with local dealer. Quoted $850 to install. We looked at Costco and found better product prices. Local dealer said they could match Costco prices as they did it all the time. They could not come close. Ordered thru Costco on 7/2/24. First part arrived in a few weeks and was stored in our living room. Received delay notice for the 2 window shades on 7/10. Received window shades on 9/16/24. First part sat in our house for 3 months. Basically missed the summer. Ended up paying $1375.00 for install. Will NEVER buy from SunSetter again and will advise friends/family of this mess.

The woman who came initially was very competent, but not friendly. The installers and products were great. But there were long delays. I ordered a sun shade for my living room and by the time it arrived I didn't need it. But I look forward to using it next year.

Both Ken and the installers were great. They were prompt and professional. Product works great and does the job of keeping sun off our back porch. They finished the job sooner than expected and took away all trash. Installer did a thorough job of demonstrating the product and how to take proper care of it.

This product was ordered 6/10/2024 and finally installed on 10/22/2024, way beyond the time it could be utilized during the hottest 4 months we’ve ever experienced. I was told that the delay was due to the solar panel company being unable to supply the item. However, when the installers arrived at my home, the box the screen was in was tattered and lacking a label with my order on it. The installers said the screen had been in the warehouse for quite awhile and was deteriorating due to that. They had to remove the screen (with attached solar panel) and have me identify the color and fabric I had ordered. I was extremely disappointed with this order through Costco and even more so with your company.

Love the outdoor blinds. Perfect color match to our house. Keeps the heat out but can still see out. In fall they protect the birds from crashing into windows. Our first ones are almost 20 years old and still work and look great. Highly recommend. Thank you for this great product!

The dealer said that the awning would be installed in 4-6 weeks. It has been 7&1/2 weeks now. He said he thought the freight company had it in Nashville last week and he hoped to get it yesterday. But I guess he didn’t get it and I called and left a message about 2pm today and I never heard from him. I’m not impressed with this experience.

We had a lot of heat coming in in our patio area. We needed to have something there and we saw a person across the street had one of these awnings. I looked it up and SunSetter looked like the best one online. We wanted the awning to be wide enough for our patio. We got a 16 foot awning, and we like the darker color because it matched our siding a little better. The salesperson said it was rated up to 50 mile an hour winds, which seems awfully high to me. Still, our experience with SunSetter was easy. They came in, installed the awning really quick and now, it's up and ready to go. I like it that we can take it out to any level we want and stop it anywhere we want. I would recommend SunSetter. We're pleased with what we've got and people could come and see it.

I would recommend SunSetter Awnings. They were all nice people. We waited six weeks from the time we ordered the awning until it came in. The work only took two hours the most. It was good.

The installers were great. It was windy as all heck when they came out to do the installation. They got it up and got it set, and showed me what I had to do. They were very smooth. The awning I chose has a 10-year warranty. It's brown stripes. It's got a remote control that I know how to operate. If anything goes wrong, I call the people who installed it and they fix it. SunSetter is great. It's well worth it. I'll know in five years if it was worth the money I spent on it. But it looks solid. It feels solid. I would recommend it.

I talked to a lady from Northern Minnesota and she was nice. She did a professional job. The awning that I got is a real big one. The wind kinda can come through there and move it around pretty good. But I expected it to be a little bit more stable. The wind catches it pretty good.

I got a shade from SunSetter and what was cool about it is, not only is it a shade, but it's motorized. So it has its remote control. You don't have to go roll it up and roll it down manually. You don't have to be outside and push a button. You have a remote. You can do it from inside the house. I would recommend the product. It's durable. I've got two shades. I bought one and then about nine months later, I bought a second. So I've had one for a little over a year now. It's not a cheap product. The material, it lasts. It has not broken down by the elements.
We've had two hurricanes here where I live in the last year, unfortunately. I live in the south, and we've had two hurricanes. One was not as bad as the other. With the one most recently was the worst. But even through that, the shade held up really well. Not that I had it down during the storm, but it held up really well in its casing. I've had so many different products, not identical to this. But a lot of times, they fade or get weather worn. This was not the case with SunSetter. I've had one of these shades for over a year and the material is just as good as the day I put it up. I'm a pretty big fan of the product.
The whole process with SunSetter was decent. I did it all online and they shipped it within two weeks, which was pretty typical. It was pretty simple. The product showed up undamaged. It was packed professionally and extremely well. It was in a heavy duty box. SunSetter did a really good job. They've got partners in different areas where they may not have a facility to do the installation. But I didn't have luck with that. So I had to get my own guy to do it. When I called in to get some information, they were helpful and friendly. But some of their partners may not be as responsive as they are. So although they may do the job by giving you a recommendation, a lot of times, their partners let them down and they don't contact the consumer.

I liked the actual product that SunSetter Awnings provided in line with what my requirements were. Sunsetter had a solution that would accommodate what I was looking for. From the time that it was delivered to installation was great. Sunsetter works with the local vendor to procure the awning and install it. The rep came out and did the measurements, which was great. We decided on a solar one, and he made the order. The vendor that installed the awning did a good job. It took him less than three hours to install it. It was easy. The awning works as expected and looks good. It goes up and down. It performs what I want to do.
The customer service from the vendor that installed it was good. But at times, he wasn't responsive because he didn't have the answers for me. Also, I waited over five months to get my awning, and I was not happy. The fact that they were redesigning their solar panels being used, it held up the actual delivery. It took 2.5 months just to understand what the hold-up was. When we called SunSetter, they wouldn't give me an update on when it was being built, and it was miserable. I missed the whole summer. It wasn't a good experience.

We have a new home that gets a lot of afternoon sun in the rear windows, and that heats up the house. We wanted an awning to better be able to use the porch area that we have. We wanted something that would knock down the heat coming in on the back windows. SunSetter had products for both of those. So, we purchased a 12-foot awning and a special window outside shades that are solar panel.
SunSetter had a representative come by. He was very knowledgeable. He did a good job. I was very happy. We looked at a lot of products. He was able to take what we wanted and give us various options. So I appreciated that. The installation was great, except in one respect. The installer knew exactly what he was doing. But on one window, they sent us something that was not what we had requested or paid for. So, that had to go back to SunSetter. The installation still has yet to be completed because one window did not have what we wanted and what we paid for. But that's the only glitch in the dealings with SunSetter.
The installer made adjustments before he left so that we had a perfect install and exactly what we wanted. His name was Brad and he was very professional. I would recommend SunSetter products. The customer service was great from the installer and the salesman. But it's the quality control people at SunSetter that did not send the proper product.
