Staff members, Jamie & Ray, were professional, responsive and helpful through this process. Installation of product was disappointing. All parts for tie down not available. Edges of shades not centered with opening. Customer inspection after installation revealed fraying on some of the shade's edges. New product has been ordered for replacement. To be installed January or February. Our patio has a Western sun exposure and the "shade" provided by Easy Shade is much less than expected by customer.

Remote control is impossible to program with the written instructions enclosed with the shade. I had to seek outside help to program the remote control. Sunsetter does not have any direct or live contact to get help from a customer service agent for advice and support. There is no tech support help for commercial property managers and service technician installing the shade. This discourages me from considering Sunsetter purchases in the future.

We retired and now, we have more time. But there’s a lot of rain in Pittsburgh and we cannot enjoy summer. We have the grill and if we have the awning, even if it drizzles, we can enjoy the outdoors in 80 degrees weather. Other than the very delayed follow-up from Jeffrey, the rep, the experience with SunSetter was very good. Maybe they can make the website’s user interface friendlier. It would help with figuring out what would be the right size. Because I started out with one size and then I changed it after I measured everything.

I read about three vendors, and most of the feedback were leaning more towards SunSetter's quality. I picked that one and ordered what I needed. I decided I was gonna get two awnings, which was a lot. It was about $10,000 worth of stuff. I got the first awning and I liked it. I decided to get the second one, but it came in with the wrong color. I ordered a light beige color and it came in dark brown, which was a huge piece. That was no fault of the installer though. It was just the wrong cover, and I couldn't have it sitting there right beside of another one that was beige.

The awning is about 18 feet and it has lights. It was the better awning and had a nice cover on it. It happened to reach out the depth of the patio that it’s covering. So, it fit just right as far as the coverage went. I hadn't used it much since I've had it 'cause we're still waiting on everything to be finished. It would have been done by now, but they had to reorder the cover, and I'm still waiting on that.

There are two sides to my experience. There's the ordering side and then there's the installation side. There was nothing wrong with the installation. That guy was right on the ball. He can put an awning up blindfolded. He was very smart, did a great job and didn't mess around. He didn't stand around and just shoot the bow and then waste my time. He got that awning put up quickly. On the other hand, the ordering side didn't work out as quite as good, but I would need to have more orders than just one to qualify them and get a trend. That was just a one-time thing. If I was to order that stuff again, it would probably not be a problem. I told one of my neighbors about SunSetter and they're talking to them now about putting an awning up for themselves.

We've had an awning for a number of years and we wanted to add another one to another part of our backyard. I've used SunSetter before. Their sales team was great. They were very professional, kind, and nice. We recently got a 16-wide remote-controlled gray porch awning. It is not overly expensive, but it sure seems to be worth the product and the price seemed to be well-matched. The installation was efficient and well done. We love our new awning. It's made our outdoor space far more usable. It's year-round usable now. We're in a hot climate and the space without the SunSetter is simply not usable in the heat of the summer. We recommend SunSetter without hesitation.

We had put a deck on the back porch and it's so hot there. We're tired of using umbrellas. So, we called SunSetter up, we liked what they had, and they came and hooked us up quickly. We discussed everything and they told us exactly what they were gonna do and how long it was gonna take, and they kept their word. Everything was like they said. SunSetter is awesome. Everybody loves it.

Our SunSetter awning's quality is good. It was missing a part, but it took me a couple emails to get someone to send it out to me. I wish I would have been told when I first ordered it that they had a huge delay. Initially, when I ordered it, it said it would be four to six weeks. Then at the end of that, I emailed and they said, "Oh, there's a delay." But they didn't say how long it would be. After the third email of asking, I got something that said they were waiting on parts. It was gonna be another month. It ended up being an extra six weeks. So, it was twice as long as I thought. They should have said as I was ordering, "Hey, instead of six weeks, it's gonna be 13 weeks. Do you still want this product?"

I've been asking for status. They kept sending me the same canned response every time I sent an email. It wasn't somebody actually reading the email. It was just a canned robot response, which I thought was kind of lame. They could also improve on their website. I have two SunSetter products now, and I'd like to tie them both together on the remote. The instructions are not really easy to understand or clear. So, they do a video on how to set up multiple things. Everything else has been good.

We moved down here to Lincoln and we were downsizing because of our age. We had the patio extended and we're looking at extending the roof, but it was not worth the money. An awning would be a better alternative. We went online and one of SunSetter Awning’s local contractors came out. The guy is no longer with the company, but it seemed like he was a square guy. We had an issue with SunSetter because we were told that it was gonna be about eight weeks to get the awning manufactured and delivered. But we just never got it. The rep called and said there was something with the material. The crop of material that they had was not good so they will redo it. They were waiting for more material. So, it was delayed.

We started the process at the beginning of July and the awning was installed just a couple of weeks ago. So, it was a little bit longer than we anticipated, but it's up there. Somebody offered a $500 discount and a wind sensor and I talked to the guy today because they billed us and they didn’t have the $500 there. So, he’s gonna resend the invoice. The administrative side of it probably could be better. But it's a fair price. We could have said no but it was a good deal.

I couldn't attach the awning to my house because part of the yard that I wanted done was right off of my pool cage. Sunsetter could have attached it to the pool cage, but then it would've been too low because that part of the yard is actually higher. I knew what the problems were but I didn't know what the solution was. Sunsetter suggested we have this product as a freestanding awning. They had a magazine with pictures and I looked at it and told them that it was perfect. It was exactly what I needed. The awning is great. It opens and closes very well and it provides the shade that you would think it would. Sunsetter is the company I would use and I only go with the best of everything.

Initially, I called Sunsetter because I had some questions about what I wanted to do and whether it was possible. I had a sales rep that got back to me and that was who I worked with to make the purchase. The installation was with the local company, someone who was sort of contracted with SunSetter to do their installations in this local area. I love it all. The awning works for us. We're on a lake and the sun's beating all day in our sunroom and the awning just makes a world of difference.

Sunsetter has a good product and I liked working with them. With the last one, the awning came a little bit damaged. I called the installation team when the awning arrived here. So, they came and put it in. You have to pay them regardless of what happened with the fabric. So, they put it in and then SunSetter made good. I got some cash back and a new awning. It was exceptional. There was never any trouble trying to get in touch with them. They were on top of it.

The price was reasonable and Scott knew what he was talking about so I decided to go with him. He explained which one would be good for our needs was and which wasn't. I was pleased with what he thought would best suit my needs. Everything went fine with the installation. When we had a problem with the shade, I called them and they came back in a reasonable amount of time. SunSetter approved to just re-order and give us a brand-new shade because they determined after they tried several things that it was in the manufacturing of the shade. So now, we're just waiting on to get the new shade. But I feel sure that they will follow up with replacing it. So I'm satisfied with it. The customer service reps were all very nice and helpful.

We were talking about getting an awning and I Googled and SunSetter came up. I read some of the reviews and they had a local distributor somewhat nearby. They also seemed to be the most highly rated company in the area. My experience with them was very good. From the beginning, when I reached out to the office by email, the rep reached out the next day and was very polite, professional, and said that they had received our request for a proposal and that they would send someone out. It was immediately scheduled.

They came out when it was scheduled. We met with the salesman and he was very good. He helped us decide where to put the awning and how to install it. Then, we weren't sure of the color. There were hundreds of different patterns and colors and he helped us decide quickly which one to get. We picked it and we confirmed the sale, and within four weeks, the installers came out and installed it. They were very good and installed it. Unfortunately, they did it in the fall and we haven't been able to use it since they installed it. But it works very well. It's high quality and it's nice. I like the feature that, if it's too windy, it'll pull itself back in.

I needed an awning to dress up my building and to cut down on the amount of sun coming into the building. I went with SunSetter for the price, and the salesperson that took care of me was really nice. I spoke to her on the phone a couple of times, and she was very thorough and helped me out with the choice. It worked out really well. SunSetter had the fabric that I liked which was a black and white stripe.

The awning was there when they said when it was gonna be there, and the delivery guys were spot-on. The way SunSetter packaged it when they shipped it was great. The packaging was bulletproof. The quality and functionality of the awning are great. It also came with lights underneath, which I had no idea that was possible, so that was a bonus. I'd tell others to order SunSetter products, and I'm gonna order another screen from them soon, maybe even more.

The rep came, did a presentation, and brought samples with him. We have a homeowners group, and they have to approve the design so he suggested a solid color to match the shingles in my house instead of a striped circus tent sort of thing. That went through really easily. Then he came with his helper for the installation. They came at 5:30 at night and worked till 9:00. They were able to attach the awning to the joists and not have to build an additional lumber to secure it. They were real happy about the way the house was built. I was too, since it seemed very secure for the 275-pound awning.

The only negative was the payment. When I put a deposit down, it was half the total amount. Before I received the awning, the SunSetter people in Ohio called me. The lady said the other half was due because it was received. At the time, I hadn't received it, but she was rather insistent, almost threatening, saying that it was in my contract, which I read. I debated that I didn't receive it, but apparently, the person that was gonna install it received it so I went ahead and paid it. But why would you pay for something you haven't even seen yet, let alone have it installed? But it worked out. The awning wasn't damaged, although there was a part missing. The installer said that he would order it from the factory and it was easy to put in. The awning is really pricey but it is how I expected it to be. It covers the deck nicely. The rep's recommendations were quite good.

There was no high-pressure sales and they would custom design the products. The installation went very smoothly and it took less than a half a day to finish. The installers went to great lengths to make sure that the awning worked right and it wasn't hitting any trees when it went out. We've had the awning in place for a couple of months now and we really haven't used it a lot yet because it's at that time of year when it's windy. But the few times we've used it, the ease of use is really nice. We've got the remote control that moves it in and out and that works really well. The awning was expensive, but the value is there.

I'd give SunSetter five stars for everything. It's a great company to deal with. This is the fourth blind I've ordered from them. On the latest one, the order was wrong and they didn't question it. They just sent me another one which arrived a few minutes ago. Everything is great. The products are super well made. They are very responsive when you have questions. One of my shades came back with a defective bracket. They shipped it out the next day by air.

I order the products online. They're super simple to order online. They make it clear as to what you're ordering, how big it is, and what you should be measuring. I install the blinds myself. It was super simple. It takes four screws to hang it. I just needed a little help for the bigger ones. The 12-footers need an extra person, but I can put the small ones myself. As far as the price, SunSetter is not the cheapest one on the market, but I've looked around and I haven't found anything better. I've ordered some other ones and they ended up getting trashed. I ended up replacing them with the SunSetter.

We were looking for an exterior shade, and there aren't many options out there as far as solar powered shades. We ordered from SunSetter and we wish we would've ordered something different. We were looking for something to block the sun off our television set. And after we had the awning from SunSetter installed and everything got paid and we've used it, it doesn't really fulfill what we thought it was gonna do. It does block 90% of the light but we were looking for something darker. We didn't realize that when we spoke to the salesperson.

So far, things worked fine. It looks okay from the outside of the house, and it functions with the remote control from the inside of the house. So, it's performing the way we thought it would. It works properly. We just wish we would have bought a completely blackout shade instead of what we received. I think it's salespeople related on what they told us. He said that this would block out the light, and it doesn't. The price was okay for what we wanted the product to do, but we are currently unhappy with the price that we paid for what it does. When the salesperson was in our house, he saw where our television was and where the windows were. The whole goal of this thing was to allow us to see the television set while the sun was shining. It hasn't done that.

Ours is a tan awning. It's in three pieces for the big windows that are up high. The middle one is big. The two outside ones are smaller. We were told the awning was the only solar option that SunSetter had and that doing the wired options they had would be difficult. So we went with it, but we were also told that it would block sunlight but it doesn't. Also, every side had frain immediately after installation. SunSetter already had to come out to burn off all the frain that happened on the side. They said, "It shouldn't come back now. But if it does, give us a call." As far as the remote control part, two of them work consistently. But the third one, we have to hit the remote a couple of times for it to work. Do your research.

Well, I was looking for some shades and I saw that SunSetter had them on sale with a discount through Costco. I decided to try it out and it looked good. So, I had one put on. The whole process has changed now and I’m very disappointed with it. If you go through Costco, and this is Costco probably demanding this, you have to have someone come out and do a presentation. Or when the reps come out and look at the situation, they decide exactly what to do. Then, they are going to do the installation for you and that is disturbing to me. I did not want that. So, I just recently purchased another shade and had them deliver it directly to me through SunSetter so that I didn't go through Costco because I have my own person to install these for me. It's awkward to install but it's straightforward. SunSetter has good products and customer service, and they’re reliable.

The reps and I sat down and went through the fabric and the colors, and I gave them half upfront. But I got a call saying I need to pay the remainder. I didn't have the product yet. It was still in shipment and I don't believe in paying 100% for something that I don't have in my possession. So, I had a little battle with them about that.

When I got my awning, it was the wrong color. It still matched my house and I just had the guy install it because I’m a busy salesperson and I don’t have time for that kind of stuff. And as long as my wife is happy with it, that’s all that matters. SunSetter knocked off 600 bucks but the guy could have communicated a little bit better. The level of communication was not strong. Also, the awning is a little pricey for what you get. An independent contractor did the installation but he was good and efficient. He showed me how everything works and talked about the warranty. The installers did a wonderful job and were very efficient. But it took a while for the awning to be delivered. It was made to measure, but it took a few weeks for it to be manufactured. But once it was here, they did a great job installing it. They provided personal customer service and it seems like a real solid product. Also, since I got it through Costco, I got certain discounts on it.

We decided we wanted to have a little more shade on our back porch. I heard of SunSetter before, so I contacted them. They were very friendly and nice. They did a good job when they came out and did the install. And they followed up to see if we were happy with it. We chose a 15-foot wide normal awning with the hang down and it's top of the line. It wasn't cheap but you got to pay for quality. When it's sunny out, you can put the awning out and relax outside. So, it's very nice. We have the crank down shade on the end of the awning and we did the case that goes around. We had it put up in October, so we didn't get a ton of use out of it. But we're happy with it. It's very good quality and the process with SunSetter was easy.

It was beautiful but I had to cut it down and my two little umbrellas didn't do the job. It gets very hot on my deck. They came and put my SunSetter up. They were very helpful. It was late in the year when they brought it so I haven't used it. But I will be using it first thing in the spring on a hot day, and I'm looking forward to it. I'm sure I'm gonna be happy. I was disappointed in the timing of when they said they were gonna come out, what they had to do and all the different things that had to be in place. Then I called the electrician they told me to call and they were bad. I had to have them come out three times. They didn't know where to put the box. The guy that came out and quoted me was supposed to take care of that, but he didn't do his job right. He didn't relate it to the electrical company and the installers. Their communication was bad. I've been highly satisfied with SunSetter right from the get-go. I was given the recommendation from my neighbor and I would tell others the same thing. When you call, you get the most pleasant person on the phone who is knowledgeable about the product. Then within a week, a guy comes out on a very timely basis, tells you what you can and can't do and looks for feedback from you.

The people that came to install my SunSetter awning could not have been more wonderful. Once our product came in, which was sooner than we expected, they were there to install it. They came at the right time and it was fascinating to watch them put it up. The kids enjoyed it. My son-in-law was there and he was into it too. They interacted really well with us and with each other.

We have a lake house that gets major sun. We have this deck that's way up high and we were gonna see if we can close it in, but it was gonna cost a gazillion dollars. We thought that the awning would have been a better solution to our problem, and we're sure it is because it doesn't change the integrity of the home. When it's rolled up, you don't see it. The awning is beautiful.

It was a good experience with SunSetter and I would use them again or recommend them to somebody. The installer did a fine job. He had a little trouble with my siding and had to replace some siding. When he went to install the awning and remove it, whoever installed the siding on my home had glued it rather than tacking it on, so it tore on him. He was very good about coming back and getting it fixed for me. My daughter was there the day he came to repair it and he went over the remote with her again. I was perfectly happy with them.

I asked my son about the price and and he said it was a good price. He had had an awning put on his camper that was half of that just to put on a camper. What I have is retractable if the wind blows. The material seems to be good. The color was true to what the guy showed me that day in the pamphlet. He also showed me how if the wind blew three times, it automatically closed on its own.

Updated on 01//04/2025: My initial order for 4 Solar Easyshades was placed in early October: 3/4 arrived at the end of the October. After repeated calls to Sunsetter to check on the outstanding blind, and being given the story that there were "manufacturing issues", the last blind finally arrived in mid December. Until the last blind arrived, I could not even schedule an install date with my contractor. Thus, all four blinds now finally will be installed mid-January. I ask that all 4 blinds' warranty start times be updated to coincide with the time of the final delivered blind, please. That seems pretty fair, and I hope you will do so. Many thanks for your consideration.

Original review: Ordered 4 blinds 10/8/24. Received 3 blinds fairly promptly, but the fourth is still outstanding, two months later without any further follow up from SunSetter. I called twice, at 3 weeks and at 6 weeks and was told there were production difficulties, but no estimated ship date for the fourth blind. So, needless to say, I have had NONE of the blinds installed as I'd like to have all done at once. So currently 3 blinds are sitting on the floor in my garage, unopened. Thus I cannot really comment on the functionality of the blinds yet. I was told I could create an account to log in and check on the status of the blinds, but I really don't want to feel obliged to set up an account just to follow up on Sunsetter's problem. Better communication and respect for me as their customer would have earned them another star.

The awnings don't block out all the sun because they're not wide enough. We have three awnings and they're about 4-foot awnings. They don't cover wide width ways the space we wanted them to. So, in that respect, we're not really happy. I'd recommend the product, but I'm disappointed in the installation. SunSetter seemed like a good way to go. So, we contacted them. And then Shane, their representative here in Reno, Tahoe area, came out and can't say enough good things about him or the experience. We wound up ordering an additional awning after the first two. We have three powered units. Two of them are solar and one of them is direct power. They cover the entire length in the back of the house, floor to ceiling. We did a major remodel. And when we did that, we had added these big sliders across the back of the house and then over the kitchen window. So, we decided at that point that we would like to look at these. Potentially, we started with them and Shane on putting in a retractable awning, which we had moved into a rental for a year while we remodeled this house, and the house around the corner had this umbrella extended awning. We couldn't do it here because of the structure of the house. And Shane and us came up with this plan and we couldn't be happier.

It was relatively easy to purchase the awning from SunSetter and the process was pretty straightforward. But my awning still isn't installed. They've tried twice to install it and the installation crew hasn't had the right equipment. They came out once and they couldn't fit it up in the elevator, even though they've been to that building multiple times. The second time, they needed a crane, but the crane never showed up. The third time, they tried to reschedule for this week, but they canceled on us. We're in communication with them and the last thing we said was we'd like it done this week. But they said they could only do one day this week on which day we're going to be out of town. So, we said we need another time, probably after Thanksgiving. So far, we haven't heard back and this has been going on for about a month now.

The awning is supposed to go on my deck on the fourth floor. So, they should know what it takes to get stuff in the building because they've done everyone's awning in the building. But from what I can tell, it's really just incompetence and maybe a lack of diligence of knowing the equipment that they need to get the job done.

We purchased the sun shades during the Labor Day sale. We really wanted to do zipper-type shades, but it was way more money than we expected. So, these shades ended up working out. I liked its price point and the five-year built-in warranty for the motors. It gave me the confidence that it's gonna last. But right off the rip, our experience with Sunsetter wasn't really good. We ordered all of those shades and I didn't agree with the shipping being a hundred and something dollars per shade when they all come together at one time. So, instead of it being $100 to ship all six, I've had to pay six different shipping prices. That was frustrating for me.

Number two was that we received all of the items and we had someone install them, and one of the shades ended up being a foot and a half short. They sent us a 7-foot shade. So, we called Sunsetter back and they said, “Okay. No problem. We'll get this expedited out to you.” But it took longer to ship and make one shade than it did for me to get six shades made. Sunsetter blamed the shipping company that they utilize because it was based on their schedule, not SunSetter’s. The actual product is actually decent. It's really nice. During the day, it definitely keeps it private with some air flow still. We've lowered the shades down and had a fireplace going, and it kept the heat in. So, the vinyl shades have done a great job keeping heat in but also keeping bugs out. Overall, we are happy with the shades and I would definitely use them again.

We have a new patio home and we were looking for some shade. We didn't want to have anything permanent like railings or holes obstructing our view. I purchased a motorized awning from SunSetter. The two people who installed the awning were efficient, professional, knowledgeable, and took great pains to make sure that we were satisfied. They have a lot of different features like the motion sensor and wind sensor. We're very satisfied.

This was a disaster. Started with local dealer. Quoted $850 to install. We looked at Costco and found better product prices. Local dealer said they could match Costco prices as they did it all the time. They could not come close. Ordered thru Costco on 7/2/24. First part arrived in a few weeks and was stored in our living room. Received delay notice for the 2 window shades on 7/10. Received window shades on 9/16/24. First part sat in our house for 3 months. Basically missed the summer. Ended up paying $1375.00 for install. Will NEVER buy from SunSetter again and will advise friends/family of this mess.

This product was ordered 6/10/2024 and finally installed on 10/22/2024, way beyond the time it could be utilized during the hottest 4 months we’ve ever experienced. I was told that the delay was due to the solar panel company being unable to supply the item. However, when the installers arrived at my home, the box the screen was in was tattered and lacking a label with my order on it. The installers said the screen had been in the warehouse for quite awhile and was deteriorating due to that. They had to remove the screen (with attached solar panel) and have me identify the color and fabric I had ordered. I was extremely disappointed with this order through Costco and even more so with your company.

We had a lot of heat coming in in our patio area. We needed to have something there and we saw a person across the street had one of these awnings. I looked it up and SunSetter looked like the best one online. We wanted the awning to be wide enough for our patio. We got a 16 foot awning, and we like the darker color because it matched our siding a little better. The salesperson said it was rated up to 50 mile an hour winds, which seems awfully high to me. Still, our experience with SunSetter was easy. They came in, installed the awning really quick and now, it's up and ready to go. I like it that we can take it out to any level we want and stop it anywhere we want. I would recommend SunSetter. We're pleased with what we've got and people could come and see it.

I got a shade from SunSetter and what was cool about it is, not only is it a shade, but it's motorized. So it has its remote control. You don't have to go roll it up and roll it down manually. You don't have to be outside and push a button. You have a remote. You can do it from inside the house. I would recommend the product. It's durable. I've got two shades. I bought one and then about nine months later, I bought a second. So I've had one for a little over a year now. It's not a cheap product. The material, it lasts. It has not broken down by the elements.

We've had two hurricanes here where I live in the last year, unfortunately. I live in the south, and we've had two hurricanes. One was not as bad as the other. With the one most recently was the worst. But even through that, the shade held up really well. Not that I had it down during the storm, but it held up really well in its casing. I've had so many different products, not identical to this. But a lot of times, they fade or get weather worn. This was not the case with SunSetter. I've had one of these shades for over a year and the material is just as good as the day I put it up. I'm a pretty big fan of the product.

The whole process with SunSetter was decent. I did it all online and they shipped it within two weeks, which was pretty typical. It was pretty simple. The product showed up undamaged. It was packed professionally and extremely well. It was in a heavy duty box. SunSetter did a really good job. They've got partners in different areas where they may not have a facility to do the installation. But I didn't have luck with that. So I had to get my own guy to do it. When I called in to get some information, they were helpful and friendly. But some of their partners may not be as responsive as they are. So although they may do the job by giving you a recommendation, a lot of times, their partners let them down and they don't contact the consumer.

I liked the actual product that SunSetter Awnings provided in line with what my requirements were. Sunsetter had a solution that would accommodate what I was looking for. From the time that it was delivered to installation was great. Sunsetter works with the local vendor to procure the awning and install it. The rep came out and did the measurements, which was great. We decided on a solar one, and he made the order. The vendor that installed the awning did a good job. It took him less than three hours to install it. It was easy. The awning works as expected and looks good. It goes up and down. It performs what I want to do.

The customer service from the vendor that installed it was good. But at times, he wasn't responsive because he didn't have the answers for me. Also, I waited over five months to get my awning, and I was not happy. The fact that they were redesigning their solar panels being used, it held up the actual delivery. It took 2.5 months just to understand what the hold-up was. When we called SunSetter, they wouldn't give me an update on when it was being built, and it was miserable. I missed the whole summer. It wasn't a good experience.

We have a new home that gets a lot of afternoon sun in the rear windows, and that heats up the house. We wanted an awning to better be able to use the porch area that we have. We wanted something that would knock down the heat coming in on the back windows. SunSetter had products for both of those. So, we purchased a 12-foot awning and a special window outside shades that are solar panel.

SunSetter had a representative come by. He was very knowledgeable. He did a good job. I was very happy. We looked at a lot of products. He was able to take what we wanted and give us various options. So I appreciated that. The installation was great, except in one respect. The installer knew exactly what he was doing. But on one window, they sent us something that was not what we had requested or paid for. So, that had to go back to SunSetter. The installation still has yet to be completed because one window did not have what we wanted and what we paid for. But that's the only glitch in the dealings with SunSetter.

The installer made adjustments before he left so that we had a perfect install and exactly what we wanted. His name was Brad and he was very professional. I would recommend SunSetter products. The customer service was great from the installer and the salesman. But it's the quality control people at SunSetter that did not send the proper product.

We found them very acceptable and they've been working just fine. The installation was very easy. I was able to do it with a friend of mine. We were able to measure out, put the brackets up, follow the instructional video, and put all the brackets in place. Once they were up, it was pretty easy to set up. The only thing that was a little difficult for us was we had to route some power for the motors and some outside weather-tight plugs. We love the SunSetter awnings that we've had here at our house in Pismo Beach. They're great. The only thing is that we've had nothing but problems with the shipping company that they use.

However, the installation was far from foolproof. They pulled in, and the tech plugged something in and we lost electricity. He started going through the fuse box. And it was, “I don't want those guys in my fuse box. If they pop something, I don't want them to come back, if we've got issues.” I had to fix a couple of things after they left. Also, the only way to get white was a power awning. That was what we had to do. Everything is working. It meets our needs. It is one way that we were able to cover the hot tub on either very hot days, light rain or light snow.

Since then, another shade has that same part broke. They had been just ordering new shades and it was getting expensive and we were at a point where we were looking for other options. That's when I found out that we could just order that piece. I called and got that piece replaced. But it didn't have the piece that connects that loop into the actual shade so it's incomplete for what I need. Other than that, the shade itself is a little pricey but it works very well and as long as the replacement pieces are available and they aren't expensive, that's fine.

We just finished an outdoor structure. I needed some sun coverage, so we got an awning installed. The process was a little challenging to a certain extent about the length of the awning in comparison to where each attachment was, whether it was a 16-foot or 18 or 20-foot, where each individual places are for holding it in place. Also, there was an issue with the adjustment part once it's in place. It was very heavy for three people to put in. So, consequently, now that it's time to make the adjustments, that part is still vague and I'm still having a little bit of an issue where the extending arms don't tuck up back nice and tight when the awing has retracted.

I had two engineers out here, which were neighbors and they were versed and mechanically able. There was just still some difficulty even to this day where one arm doesn’t tuck in like the other arm, which is a little disconcerting. Also, the remote was a little bit of a challenge to get working properly, but it’s working now. SunSetter should be a little more upfront on the installation video and be truthful about how many people it takes to do it and maybe some different ways to put it in place before things are fastened. There should also be a little more information on how to program remotes. Each remote seems to be different than the one that's in the videos.

SunSetter needs to be more definitive about the pieces that everybody works with. Not all the coverings are the same. Some have motors, some don’t. If you wanna use the manual, it’d take a half an hour to get the thing out. It goes out to 10.2 feet and that takes forever. I tried for a few minutes and it goes out six inches, I'm winded. You'd have to have a special tool. Something that would fit into a portable drill would be the better idea.

SunSetter sent a representative to our house. He went outside with us and measured. We had already looked online because they sent us a packet that had the catalog. We already had chosen the things that we wanted. So, we told him all the things we were interested in and then he wrote us up a quote and left. We called them the next day and told them to go ahead with it. When he came back, we paid half down. Then two young men came and installed. There was a missing part or something that wasn't right. So, they came back a couple weeks ago and finished that up. The two gentlemen that came back with the part and got all of that installed were very knowledgeable. They showed my husband how to take care of it. We were pleased.

The awning is lovely. The only thing that we didn't like, which was nothing they probably could have done, was once we put the lights in, the cord just hangs there when you plug it in. There's nothing to hold the cord up. So, we would have to rig it in order to keep the cord up and out of the way. It's a shame that there wasn't some kind of a device within it to have been able to hook the cord to so that it wouldn't just be dangling from the end of it.

As far as the price, it was quite high. Fortunately, my husband and I are retired, and we had the money to be able to put into that. We got the top of the line of what SunSetter offers. It has a weather sensor. I love it because we live out in the boonies where flat lands are and the strong winds have torn multiple tarps that we have had on different things. So, we really appreciated that wind sensor, not that we've had to use it, but it's nice to have that. It's supposed to be an automatic retraction if we happen to leave that out. I was very impressed by that particular part of the product.

I was like, "Yeah, that makes even more sense." We went ahead and went that route. The sales rep of SunSetter did a really nice job. The installers were pleasant as well. They were quick and neat too. My awning is mechanical, it retracts. It has a screen that drops down, and it covers my entire back deck. It gives me a whole other living space outside. It also has a good price, and it seems like a good product so far.

We were having terrible heat gain problems in the house so the awning was a good solution for it. We got the exterior mounted awning system that retracts with a remote control. There's a power line that goes down the side of the windows, down to an outlet, and down at the base of the house. It's a remote-control operated system. The price seemed a reasonable price for what was involved. SunSetter was real solid all the way across from sales through installation. They passed that critical test of, "Is this a team you would send to your mother's house?"

Costco's got special pricing and even though their pricing was cheaper, they did not offer installation. We went with these folks from Moore because they had installation as well.

Installation went very well. We expected it to take a long time before the company would be able to install it, but it was a lot shorter than we expected. The company sent out a very knowledgeable guy who came and helped. We had seen some terrible reviews about the installer, so we were going to change our mind, but then they said that the reviews were skewed and to give them a chance. We were very happy we did. Sunsetter was recommended from family and their awning suited our needs the best. It gave us the shade coverage without the poles and everything else in the way. We worked through a secondary company and the expectation we were given was the shipping would take three weeks, but it took at least twice as long as expected. We got the highest end one Sunsetter makes, the Premium Plus Ultimate XL. We did the the top of the line cassette reel as well as just a gray cover. It's got all the bells and whistles. It has two types of lights and a French shade on it as well.

For the intended use, we recommend Sunsetter. They are a good product. However, a couple pieces weren't shipped with them upon receiving, so we didn't get everything right away. They also come with a wind sensor, so if the wind is too high, it retracts automatically so it doesn't rip off the side of the house. They both come with that. They only sent one wind sensor and we're still waiting to get the additional wind sensor and have it installed from the installer. All in all, we're happy with the product, but the sales and shipping experience left something to be desired. We've recommended Sunsetter and set better expectations on shipping timelines. We've gotten a lot of questions about them after we put them up.

If we sent emails or called the people dealing with us, they responded usually within 24 to 48 hours. When the installers came, they did what they were supposed to do, but there was one problem. The original guy who came out to measure messed up on a couple of our windows. We also got shades to go over our windows in the back of the house instead of just replacing the existing shades that we had that were above the window.

The guy just measured the width of the window, which was smaller than the original shades, so they had to order replacement ones instead. Outside of the mismeasuring of the original replacement sun shades, everything went well. The installation was nice, and overall, our experience was fine. Before we got the awning, we were getting too much heat in the front of the house and it was ruining the front door. We're hoping this will help to prevent ruining our front door constantly.

They're not very responsive, and we have to keep calling them back.

Realistically, in all of the heat, we have an inoperational awning because we can't operate it manually. I have paid thousands of dollars for something that's absolutely useless and I have to keep trying to reach them for new promises and nothing's coming. It's been a really bad experience, and I would give SunSetter zero stars at this time. I will strongly recommend to other people there are other products that are not solar-operated. The manual awnings work great, as well as the electric awnings. They also have the option to go manually if the electricity is down. The solar-operated ones are a big money pit that people should avoid.

We had to block the west sun from coming in the living room area, and we liked the way the awning was going to fit in our application and how it worked. It seemed like it took quite some time once our order was shipped. It was four weeks before we got it. But when SunSetter said it was shipped, they did mention that it could take up to three weeks and it took all of that.

Right now, the awning is still sitting in its box. It's late enough in the year here in Montana that I'm not sure we're going to get it up this fall. The sun has changed and we don't need it that badly until early summer again. When we'll be using the awning, it'll be tucked up underneath the soft eave, then hang straight down. And it is on a covered porch. So between the window in the house to where the awning is, there's about 10 feet, and we're going to block the sun before it ever gets to the house. We'll also still be able to use our covered porch with that down when the sun's out.

If you're looking for an awning, this is an option you should consider. It was a positive experience. The sales fellow and installers all did a good job. They were all pleasant people to deal with. The product has worked as advertised. The rep went over all the options, took measurements, looked the area over, explained what we could do, and that is what we did. The install took a couple of hours, and they cleaned everything up. We're satisfied with that. It required several men to do and it was a second balcony. They had to bring the awning over the railing instead of going through the house and I'm sure it was not an easy install. Once they got it up, it was an easier install, but they had to get up to that level. It's heavy.

The construction looks like good quality from a feature standpoint. We got the remote operator. That makes life a lot easier. We also have the wind protection device, which we enjoy having that, though it surprised us at first how much motion it would take on the setting they had before it would retract. We set it down one more notch. Even then, there were times when we look at it and say, "You would have thought it would have retracted." We hope nothing happens. It was cool that we were able to do that and the temperature difference was significant by the time we were up on the balcony.

I'm very happy with the quality of the awning. It has a warranty of tornadoes, hurricanes, and a tree falling. It didn't matter what happened. The rep told us 100% guaranteed, which fortunately, we haven't had to deal with that yet. But when there is a lot of rain and the awning is out, there'll be some sagging, holding that water. So, then when we pull that awning in, it's just a river flowing off of it. That's not a big deal. But I am concerned, is it gonna stretch that canvas? For example, if we're gone all day, and it pours down rain all day, and the awning is out, I'm not there to put it in to prevent that from happening. So, that would be the only design flaw. Apparently, there is a slant there. It might just be that the canvas part needs to be tightened up because it is on a slope where the water should just run right off. But it does collect. You don't realize it because it's not dropping down. The water can collect 2 or 3 inches deep on it, though.

We went online to see who the nearest dealer was. That turned out to be SunSetter Awnings. The installers could have been more knowledgeable. My husband who is very savvy in that kind of stuff had to give them a couple of pointers here and there because he was concerned about how it would come together. We had to have the contractor come back because when we tried to close it, one of the arms would get stuck and wouldn't close. They came back out and made some adjustments to that. The awning could have been a little cheaper. But we’re happy with it.

The salesperson was very forthright. He told us about what SunSetter can offer and what they can do like it was. We wanted the awning and we were an easy sell but there was a little bit of a speed bump on the installation. It was supposed to be on a certain day. Some guy that seemed to deal out of his trunk came out, which was a turn-off. I wasn't impressed with his personality at all. Also, he didn't have all the equipment, which I couldn't understand. If you have an appointment to install something, you check your stuff to make sure you have everything. But that didn't happen so he had to come back. It was another three weeks because stuff had to be ordered.

It seemed weird that a big company didn't have the wherewithal to complete the job. We waited for a while until somebody else came to install the awning, which was a huge improvement. Those guys were good. We love the awning. It provides shade when the sun is high and hot. It's a very good feeling to be able to sit out there and enjoy the outdoors. We also have friends that have had a SunSetter and they've been satisfied as well.

But when we said we'd go pick it up, we were told we couldn't go pick it up because they needed to pick it up and deliver it to us. So, it took longer. Other than that, everything was great. My husband installed the awning and he didn't have any difficulty. We love the awning quite well and it keeps the house cooler. I would also recommend SunSetter as long as they use a different company to deliver.

But I don't feel like it's worth the money. I paid over five grand for it and we have a really big one. I would think it was worth it if I paid 3,500. So it's a little bit overpriced and I don't think any paid structure is worth eight grand, which is a lot of money. The other thing is, one of the features it has is a wind sensor and when I have to troubleshoot it, it does not seem to work. So I have to figure that out. I just haven't had time.

We have a western exposure on our patio, and so I started looking for some alternative. I purchased a SunSetter awning with a striking golden brown and a beige-type stripe. It is motorized and it works very well. It was also a pleasure working with the team that ordered our awning and installed it. We waited several weeks after they ordered it. Then the company of the guy that installed it ran a check on where it was, and they couldn't find it. So they ordered it again and it took about 10 weeks. So I wasn't real happy about that.

But after they notified me it was there, they scheduled me two days later and the guy came out and put it up in one day. So that was a very good response on their part. We're also happy about the SunSetter awning. It's nice and it allows us to sit out there outside. Along with the awning, I got an evaporative cooler and we turn that on. We're in Houston, Texas and it's hot and humid all of the summer. So that has helped us and we can sit out there most any time of the day now.

I told the gentleman I didn't think we could afford it. He said, "Let me go to my car, call one of my other reps and see if I can get you a better deal." He came back in, said he had a better deal for us and we signed to have it done. When the installers came to put the awning in, they were having trouble getting it into our fascia and soffits. They made at least 15 holes in our fascia. We made them come take the awning down. They gave us a refund, but I had to pay $2,000 to have new fascia, soffits, and gutters put on. We went with a different brand awning and we are happy as can be with it.

They also demonstrated how the wind would retract the awning when it got to be to a certain level. I like the retractability of it, being able to put it in and out. Meanwhile, I would give zero stars to SunSetter, the corporation. We're not in a COVID situation, but the initial delivery of the large SunSetter product took longer than promised. The distributor said that was from SunSetter. When the awning came, part of it was missing and it took another over a month to receive it. I tried to get an understanding on when this piece will be in, and they would give me no information.

SunSetter, the corporation, is totally unresponsive to the consumer. They could not care less about me. I tried to talk and speak to a supervisor or to anyone, and I could not get through to one single person other than a boiler room help desk. I was on hold for an hour and they say, "Leave your number. We will call you back when you're in the queue." they never called back once out of four times. If someone has a problem with the installation or the warranty, I have confidence in the local distributor. On the other hand, I have zero confidence in SunSetter, and I would not recommend them to anyone because of that.

It took quite a while to get it because I picked an expensive one. It's an $8,000 job. About two and a half months later, they came and they were really good. They took away the old one and they put in the new one and all the new arms. The experience was great, very simple and very nice.

The awning has a wonderful screen that you can roll down so we can block the late afternoon sun, too. I picked the fabric. It's a heavier fabric and it doesn't fade so badly in the sun. It's really lovely. It'll be there for a long time, but it was probably the most expensive thing in the book. Quality is fine. Part of the cost was also because I did the bronze arms because the armature had broken on the other one. I ordered the bronze instead of the white. The white was cheaper, but I have a dark green awning and I didn't want a bunch of white arms sticking out. We love the awning. It's wonderful, and it'll last for a long time because it's top quality. Customer service was great, too. They even called back to be sure everything was working right, and they said to call them if I had any questions or any problems. They were very involved in the whole process.

The first time we dealt with SunSetter was a couple of years ago. The guy made a good presentation, but we weren't ready to get it then. The weird thing was, there was no follow-up. I was really surprised at that, then a year and a half later, we decided we wanted to go ahead and get an awning. I called the company, and they had no information that we had spoken to them before, so we started from scratch. The guy who came out and did a presentation evidently had some family problems, so I couldn't get in touch with him, so the company assigned somebody else to me. He came out, and we got everything set up. It rocked along, then the company called and they wanted payment before we had ever even received the awning, much less had it installed. That was ridiculous.

Every time I would call the company back, they never responded. Finally, I had to work through the salesman and we finally got the awning and got it up. However, when the two guys came to put it up, one of them fell and was injured. This doesn't normally happen with them, but they thought they had the awning up, then it fell down. They came back and fixed it temporarily and had to order a new part. When that came in, they came back out and fixed it permanently.

The subsidiary group under SunSetter that handled this area was very inefficient, and I wasn't impressed with the process, but we really like the awning. It's very sturdy and well made, and it works great and looks nice. I highly recommend the awning. I would also give the name of the salesman to get in touch with and tell them about how the company did and to be wary of working with the subsidiary company.

I heard about SunSetter through Costco and after doing some research, I liked the features that they had on their unit. The fabric availability, the width, and the features that the awning had encouraged me to go with that particular model, and with the Costco pricing, it made it very affordable. Even though I had looked up online the SunSetter direct website, my dealings were all through Costco. I dealt directly via online order with Costco, and my order was delivered in a timely fashion. It included the product, the instructions and all the other details as well as the installation hardware, which made it very do-it-yourself-friendly. I did the install, and my son helped me.

My awning is electric, and it comes in and out via remote. It also has a wind sensor feature, so in high winds, it'll automatically roll back in. Having the feature of the retractable awning was more attractive to us. We're in South Florida, and for our patio, we didn't wanna have a permanent structure out there that might be damaged by a hurricane. I'm definitely satisfied with the product. It provides shade for our patio area, and it functions at this point flawlessly.
