We built a new deck and wanted an awning. SunSetter’s advertisements looked pretty good and they had reputation. We got an ad in the mail, and that was when we decided to do it. We got a motorized, attached one, a striped 20 feet wide by 13 long awning that was very expensive. We also bought some extra things with it. It seems very durable. We put it out when we’re out on the deck. Having sun exposure on the deck most of the day, it makes the deck a lot more usable.
The install was excellent. The installers arrived when they said they would. They’re timely, efficient, and knew exactly what to do. I’m a retired contractor, so I was impressed with everything they did to attach it to the building. I liked the company a lot. We’ve referred them quite a bit.

I wanted an awning for a long time, and a friend got one. I loved it so much so I used the same people. SunSetter, to me, has always been the best product and so I had it installed. Their reputation and their customer service just hits the right spot.
The rep knew what he was talking about. He laid out the pros and cons and didn't push for the high-end stuff. He Just let me make my own judgment after he gave me all the information.
My awning's motorized and it has lights. It’s tans and browns, which fit in perfectly with the development. It fits over my patio. I have no idea how big my patio is, but it's a nice size. I got a privacy screen, which pulls down at the end of your screen. People can still see in, but it makes it a little cozier and nicer. Hopefully, it will deter people from just walking up to my patio.
My awning does few things. The umbrella over the table didn't quite cover everything. And as the sun moved, you got zapped. In the afternoons, there was no way you could sit out there. I have it open throughout a bright sunny day. My living room is cooler because the sun's not beating in. I eat dinner and eat lunch out there. I get out there as often as possible and enjoy my space. I sit out there in the morning with my coffee. So, it's for shade.
I had the professional installer do it, and they came and did it in four hours. They took care of the patio furniture and chairs to not damage them in any way. I was extremely pleased throughout the whole process.
I recommend it highly and I've done that six times already. Everybody's like, “Oh, my God. This place looks so beautiful. Makes the community look really nice.
You weigh the difference between the satisfaction and what you paid, and I definitely got my money's worth.

I needed to replace the awning that was already in place at my home, which was also a SunSetter. So, I made a purchase through Costco. I customized the order through Costco and SunSetter. They then shipped it to the house in a timely fashion. The installation instructions were easy to follow, and we got it up and installed with relative ease. SunSetter is a high-quality product, and so far, I have no issues with it.
The awning gives us an opportunity to have a shaded deck area, and it also shields our home from the afternoon sun. So, it keeps the temperature down in one of our living spaces. It's just a nice added benefit to leisure time on the deck.

We've been fully satisfied with SunSetter Awnings. I got the it through a company in Jacksonville Florida, and the owner was awesome, and wonderful to deal with, and I got a $750 Costco gift card for getting SunSetter through them. She followed up and checked along the way, and that's how you want your people to be. Installation went on without incident, no problems.

We needed a retractable awning. SunSetter provided the width that we needed and could extend to the length that we needed. And we need the motorized one. They had the product we wanted, so that’s why we purchased it. And I did everything myself. I went online, ordered it, and they delivered everything that they said they're gonna deliver. The installation is easy if you read the whole manual.
The number one issue with the installation was the weight of the awning. It weighed 200 pounds or more. So, the way we did it was we did temporary rigging, which is beyond the normal DIY. And I had to fabricate brackets because I didn't install it on a wall. It was at the edge of a covered patio. So, we had to get away from the roof tiles. But it was okay. It worked. So, personal installation is not for somebody who doesn't know what they're doing.

We looked at two companies and were on the fence. The other person was a typical salesman and didn’t seem to care much. The other guy from SunSetter Awnings gave us a better price, not by a lot of money, and he recommended his product. We found the products very similar, but the mounting brackets were a little bit sturdier. That appealed to us because we were attaching it to the soffit. It seemed like a lot of money, but we really needed the product. If it works and it lasts us a long time, then it's worth it. We've already seen it as a big help.
The installer was the best. We had a downspout issue, and he made some comments about how that could be corrected. We also ordered lights, but they didn't come with it, so they made a trip to bring it to us. There was an adjustment that needed to be made, so we called them. They were responsive and were supposed to come out, but my husband was able to figure it out based on the instructions that came with it.

My father has a similar awning, and since a spot at our house was too hot, we decided to get the same one he has. I just worked with the installers, who doesn't exclusively work for SunSetter's, and didn’t actually reach out to anyone at SunSetter. I got no complaints. It was good. They installed a blue-and-white striped motorized awning attached to our house, 20-feet wide and as deep as we could get it. The installation was smooth. Two guys showed up, we talked about the height, and they were done in a couple of hours. I've recommended SunSetter to other people that have a similar deck.

I saw SunSetter’s TV commercials and did some research online. The presentation was okay but I had an issue with the contracted installer. SunSetter sent somebody out and the guy did something. I had water leaking between the house and the awning because it appeared dented. It was dropping weight at the entrance way. I picked a bronze color flashing and when they bent it, it was white. It looked terrible. It was something they could have easily done, painting the backside of it. The guy who works for SunSetter ended up coming back and fixing it so it looks nice now. But when I was talking to the guy who did the installation, he screwed up. After I sent him photographs of what I was talking about, he recanted a little bit.
The caulking job isn’t great, especially at the top. It’s on a raised deck, so you can’t see it from below, but the awning sits right above the master bedroom window. When I look out, or look down from the deck, I can see the uneven caulking. You can even see it from the yard since the back of the house is three stories tall, which includes the basement exit, main floor, and the second floor. Even with that, I’m fine with it.
The owner of the company was not good but his worker was. He tried to make it right. They said that the rubber seal on the back wasn't filling the house and they'd order one and come back and do it. Then I never heard from Mike, the owner, so I called him. I ended up getting the number of his worker. Mike said he didn't order the part and that it wasn’t what I needed. He said to use common sense, which pissed me off. So, I sent him photos of exactly what it was and he recanted on what he was saying. They never ordered a new seal. They're saying that because of the header board that they put on, it pulls it away from the house and a new seal wouldn't make a difference. But they're claiming there’s flashing.
I don't need somebody to be nice about things. I just need them to be correct. But this guy was very rude. I would not use him and I've told someone interested in it not to use them. There are other SunSetter installers in my area but that would be one I would not recommend. I even told my neighbor about SunSetter when they asked who I used. I also reached out to them because I have a coworker in Lancaster, Pennsylvania and I wanted their local team to come take a look. They told me I’d have to pay for that. Paying another contractor to fix it didn’t sit right with me when I already spent $7,000 on the awning. It was a little weird because I called SunSetter and then I got a contract company. I figured that with SunSetter being a large company, they would have their own installers and not contract someone else. I like the awning, but I wouldn’t do it again. Also, the pricing was high.

I needed some shade. I have looked into SunSetter several years ago and I had friends that had SunSetters who said that they really enjoyed them. So, I went to their rep in the Escanaba area and I talked to them. They were friendly and joking around about things. They took me into the shop and showed me different situations. They also had one up in their shop, so they could open it up to let people see how it was. Then they came out and measured everything for me. They told me what I needed and never pressured me into buying something I didn't need or want. They had to order my awning and after a couple of weeks, they installed the awning for me. In fact, I was one of the first people for that season to be installed. The representative of the company and his buddy came out, and they had it up within two hours. It went well.I got a 10 x 8 that has a wind sensor on it, and it's got a manual and automatic crank-out.
I would tell my friends to go purchase a SunSetter. It's totally awesome because my house is totally open to the sun all day long. And that particular end of the building where I have that SunSetter is open to the sun all day long. I don't get shade until 7 o'clock at night. So, when it is extremely warm outside, I cannot sit out on my deck to enjoy it and my pond without roasting to death. But under there, I could sit and there's no problem. So, I thoroughly enjoy it. The price was also less than what I thought it was going to be.

We had a SunSetter awning for over 20 years and it got damaged in the wind. It took two of us to put it up and put it down. So, I got a new one with the remote, and I love it. SunSetter's team was very good during my purchase. I called and talked to a person who was very helpful, Julie. Then I talked to somebody else that was on the other end and I was happy with that rep as well. They explained everything and helped me order the right one. And when it came, they put it right there where it needed to be put up, so we didn't have to haul it anywhere. I got the motorized one and it's blue. I've got a table and chairs in the area, and I sit out there and have coffee. When the sun comes up right out there on that side of the house, it blocks the sun. If anybody's thinking about getting one, I would tell them to go get a SunSetter.

The sales guy was very kind and very knowledgeable in his field. He suggested an awning, and I thought it would look nice, so that was what I got. The neighbors and my tenants even love the color that I chose. He gave me a cover and told me that this is what I have to do before winter. So I was adamant on my tenants to do this before winter. They even let it open and air dried it so there was no water in there, which was good.
The installation was very nice. The fitting was nice too. I did ask the gentleman if I ever get a new roof, what do I do with the SunSetter? He said that I could give him a call, and they'll come and remove it so I can have my new roof. His service was very nice. He was very kind and knowledgeable. I like them. I will use them again.

We originally purchased our Sunsetter electric awning in 2003. Believe it or not it lasted until 2023. The motor finally gave up and the awning material was deteriorating so we decided to replace the motor and the awning canvas. What started as 5-8 weeks ended up being 5 months but ok it's up. We had issues from the get go with the motor tripping our breaker and after the contractor came out numerous times felt all was good. Fast forward to 2025 kept blowing the breaker, was told it was our wiring. After having an electrician troubleshoot our wiring, they said it was the motor. Called Sunsetter and even though I have paperwork that says the motor has a 5 year warranty apparently they were bought out and/or relocated and now only offer 1 year warranty. Today the contractor verified the motor was bad and would need to be replaced at our expenses. Not at all happy with their customer service. Used to be an excellent product, but not so sure now.

SunSetter was great. There were a few hiccups, but they fixed it. Everything was fine. We had a problem with the electricity, but it turned out to be it wasn't SunSetter's fault. They came out and looked at it and told us to call an electrician. It wasn't the unit. So they were really great about that. The only thing that I don't like about the awning is that for the cord to come down, there's a big metal and even though you can see it, it's a different color, and it's wide. Everyone has tripped over it. But there's no other way to do it because that's how it makes it sturdy. It comes out like a T on both sides on the bottom, and it's going to be a hazard that way. But that's just the way it's made.

We got the electric awning for the one over the deck for the convenience. We like it. The guy that came out and did the assessment for the awning did a really good job of assessing what we needed and what would hold up in a storm. My wife picked out the colors, and they match pretty well. It's what we were looking for. We're really happy with the awning. We also like the fact that it's protective of our ability to sit on our deck. The salesperson and the team that put it in did a really good job.

We had an awning that we purchased five years ago. We decided that we had another area that needed to be covered from the sun. We went ahead and ordered another one. I also had one put up in Alaska and I got it up there, and it worked really well. So we decided we’d do that here. Sunsetter did their work well, and they did what we wanted to do. I installed them up there in Alaska. They were fairly easy to install. I didn't read the instructions twice. But down here in Arizona, they were so long. I had to hire somebody and that guy is out of Tucson. He came down here on time. They shipped them to him. He brought them down. All the parts were there. Everything was there at one time. The ones up north are manual. The ones down here, we put the electric control on them. He set all that up and had it all done. It took him about six hours to get it all done. They've been working perfectly since then.
Material-wise, it's all good. The material down here is good for 10 years and then they have a replacement material if we need it. The framework and everything else appear to be really good. I’ve had some 25-mile-an-hour winds go through here, and we have a sensor on it so it automatically retracts, and that works. I've recommended SunSetter to others.

When we moved to Florida, we had seen some advertising about SunSetter. We called a number that we got and they sent a representative out. As a matter of fact, they were an installer representative. They did the installation and it went very well. It was seamless at that point. We really enjoy the product. We really like it. We bought one for the front and one for the back. We got them installed in late May. We went away for five weeks and it was sunny when we left and we forgot to close them, actually. When we came back, the front one was closed and the back one was broken. So, we called.
What distressed us more than anything was the place that had installed them wanted $257 just to come out and look at it. So, I would not recommend this installer. I called SunSetter themselves and I sent them pictures and they covered everything under warranty and even pointed me to where videos were to where I could fix it myself. They were great. We were very pleased with SunSetter themselves, and their product.

The guy from SunSetter who came out was very nice and great, but it was just weird because the bid that he gave me was way more expensive than me just buying it online directly from SunSetter. So, I never called him back, and I just bought it directly from SunSetter. It was really weird. It was like a couple of thousands more. Maybe he just tried to sell me something I didn't want. It wasn't a big deal. I still went with SunSetter. I just thought maybe it just costs more to have somebody come out and do it all. I was able to have somebody install it for me for $300. So, it didn't really make sense to pay for their installation. Other than the confusion with the guy coming here, it's been great. I've had to call because I had some user error issues on my part. I had a terrible experience with SunSetter. I hope it doesn't happen to somebody else. We were buying an awning for my parents who are in their 80s. They live about two hours from me, and they love the outdoors. They have a very hot patio. So, we wanted to get them some cover. I saw SunSetter on Home Depot, and saw some great reviews on it. It was powered, which is wonderful, and what they needed. So, I went in with it with my siblings, four of us pitched in, and we bought it for our parents. Home Depot said that it would be delivered within a four-day window. So, the fifth day worked out perfectly for us because we were gonna go up there and install it for them. My brother, my sister and I were to meet up there on that fifth day. We made the trip up, stayed overnight, and it was not delivered.
When I called, they said, "Yeah. Sorry. There was a delay." Nobody told me about it. It was still supposed to be delivered according to the website. They promised me the next time. We scheduled again about three weeks later and we made the trip up again. It wasn't delivered again. So, it was really frustrating. The awning went from SunSetter to a third party and then to be delivered to us. At this point, Home Depot was out of it, but there was some kind of shipping company in between. The third time it was gonna be there, we couldn't make the trip up. So, we paid a local, younger moving company to just be there and get it out of the rain because my parents are old. They couldn't carry it to get it to a safe place.
The website said it would be delivered on this day. So, the guys went up there to move it. It was there. It was a big, giant tube. They moved it and put it under cover. We went up a few days later to install it only to find out that the legs weren't with it. It was a separate package that got lost in transit somewhere. Home Depot gave me $150 two separate times to cover the cost of the shipping so that I wouldn't have to pay for that.
The awning itself is awesome and works beautifully. When it's windy, it's pretty solid. When you fold it up, and if it's very windy or rainy, it works beautifully. It's just the process of getting it to us was a nightmare, and I don't know if it was Home Depot's fault or if it was the local shipper's fault, but whoever SunSetter is partnering with is not doing them any justice.
SunSetter figured out how I felt as I was going through it because they had to send me the legs separately. They had to have a separate truck come out to get the legs to us. The way it ended up going was my 82-year-old dad and his neighbor put it together because they felt so bad about us traveling back and forth. My mom called me upset saying that my dad was gonna kill himself that he's putting this together. It turned out to not be that difficult to put it together. It was a little heavy, but he was fine with it. For such a great product, we thought the price was right on. It's just the whole process of getting it was bad.

So far, our experience with the awning has been satisfactory and I've given SunSetter's information from our experience to some friends. But they're expensive. Also, we have to cover the awning in the winter and they sold us the kit to cover it. But we have it attached to our roof because we don't have an overhang large enough for it. And the wrap is okay, but they don't make a wrap for our type. We use the one they gave us, but we had to use our own bungee cords to secure it. SunSetter's reps were very knowledgeable. Communication was okay. It took eight weeks from the time we ordered the awning to the time we got it. Other than that, it was a good purchase experience. The awnings are the wind sensor ones and are striped which were gray, black, and white. We got three awnings and two of them went in well. One of them sticks a bit now, but it's not a big deal. When you put it all the way in, there's a little bit of a hitch, but it's still moving. It's a worthwhile investment.

We bought the SunSetter awning with the 10-year warranty. We'd rather get good quality so it lasts. We chose the scallop for the little edging, and we picked out the colors that we wanted to match our home. We got the one with gray and black and white stripes because our home is white with gray shutters. So, we wanted it to match.
Our awning's performance is perfect. You just press the button, and it goes out, and press the button again, and it comes back in again. So, it's very simple. We have the additional screen due to the way the sun sets in our backyard. So, that's the crank. Everything is really top-notch. We're very happy with it. The guy that came to measure was very nice. The installation guys were very nice. They did everything in a couple of hours. Whenever we're in our backyard, we sit out there and enjoy it. We use it every day in the summertime.

There's a local company that sells SunSetter's products and they came out and showed me what the product would be and how it would look. The reps were friendly and very laid back. No pressure at all. Also, the installers were out there, installed the awning efficiently, and did a great job with it. It went seamlessly. There was no disruption to me. The awning is really good, and it's exactly what I was hoping for. It's been great.

It's striped, and beige-ish in colors. It has a remote, which makes it nice. We paid extra for certain things, like a shade that is across the whole awning. That is on the south side. We had to order an additional shade material that we could put on east or west to keep the sun from coming in. We decided to keep it up on the west side where we get the afternoon sun instead of switching it back and forth because that will be a bit of trouble. We don't usually sit out there during the daytime when the sun comes in from the east. I tell people it's expensive when I say how good it is.

We selected Sunsetter because they were way better priced than another brand. I had both people out here and the Sunsetter salesman was wonderful. He helped me pick out the design. That was great. I picked out the stripes and the awning was measured for size, 'cause that's what they do. We've enjoyed the awning this summer. We really made use of it and it's great. It's done well. If it's windy, from previous experience when we had a camper, we know we have to pull the awning in, so we've been on the light side and doing it where they would take more than what we're giving it.
We're a corner house and the people that walked by our house really liked our awning. They thought it was a great addition to the house. As the neighbors have said, this has really covered the deck wonderfully. It definitely doesn't let that hot sun through, which is wonderful. It stays cool. Without the awning, I'd burn my feet if I ran barefoot on the deck floor. Once we have it out, the deck floor does not get hot and we can run barefoot on it. It's excellent and we've talked to people about our experience.

Purchasing an awning was something that I wanted to do. I went online and looked at what was available. I saw SunSetter, so I pursued it. The installers are great guys. You couldn't ask for nicer people. They worked very hard. The awning we got is an electrical retractable with a remote control and it has a wind sensor on it. When they first put it in, there was a problem with the motor. They had to replace it. After that, it was fine. It came out of the factory with a faulty motor, but they had another one to replace it and it was working by the end of the day. If people I know are looking for an awning such as mine, I would definitely recommend SunSetter.

It was delivered and everything was in good shape. It's a very high-quality product and relatively easy to install. I did everything myself. It's easily adjustable for the amount that it leans down. They supplied the Allen wrench and I was able to make the adjustments very easily. I like the automatic retractor when it gets windy. It comes in very handy.

We don't have any trees in our backyard and our backyard gets full sun, so we had to do something out there. We purchased a SunSetter awning from Shade One Awnings and it's motorized. We hardly used it this year because initially, they sent an 18 ft. awning and they only had 3 brackets for it. They said they wanted more support for it but said it was fine and we could use it. But they were going to come back while we waited over two weeks. And they didn't come back, so we called. Then they came back and put in a total of six brackets on it. They adjusted it and did everything for us. I asked how the drop-down shade that's in there can be worked and they said we didn't have a drop-down shade. But I told them that we ordered one. We then called the owner who pulled up the invoice and confirmed that we did order it. So that had to be ordered and they had to come back again.
When they came back again, they installed that, and readjusted it. For the most part, we used it a few times, then in the end of September, my sister was here so we were eating outside. I went to put the awning out and as it was opening, it was pulling away from the house, and the brackets as well as the screws were coming out. So, we called them and they sent out a different team from Shade One. We liked these guys. Their names were Nick and Hunter and they knew what they were doing. They said the previous guys should never have attached the awning where they did. The bottom half of our house is cement block while the top half is wood. So, there was a solid piece of wood right on top of the cement block and they did half of the bracket on there, then half of the bracket in the other wood, but Nick and Hunter said they didn't attach it where there was a stud.
So, they had to completely remove the awning and take some of my siding off because they didn't want us to have holes showing. So they were going to try and moved the siding around so that none of the previous holes showed except for two. They said they filled them with silicone so nothing was going to get in there and mess it up. But they had taken the awning off and had reinstalled it in less than half the time the original people took to put it up. Since it was reinstalled, we have not used it because it was time to winterize it, so they took the front valance off. They did all of that for me. They said to call them in the spring and they'll come back and reinstall that piece. But they told us we could still use the awning all year round. It's just that you don't want to be using it in weather that’s really windy or rainy because you don't want to put it away wet. So we'll just leave it where it's at until it's time to put the valance back on.
We were disappointed because we spent $9,000 on this awning. As a matter of fact, if they wouldn't have been able to fix it, I was going to tell them to take it off of my house and give me a refund. The owner's receptionist kept saying that he was going to give me a call but he never did. When I looked up the business on the Better Business Bureau, they do not have very good reviews, which if I would have known that before they installed, I would not have had them install it.

The SunSetter salesman was good and pretty honest. Then, when they came out and installed my order, they did a great job. They did what they said they were going to do and they strengthened up the overhang where they were going to hang it. They beefed it up so it's ready if some winds came along. I got the motorized awning that's wind resistant and it would retract if the wind came. It has the 10-year warranty and it was the better one. I'm a Costco person, so I went through Costco when I ordered it. It's expensive but my overall experience was good.

Everything works the way it's supposed to with my SunSetter awning. It keeps the sun off my head and it does exactly what it's advertised to do. I went with a SunSetter awning because of their reputation over the years and when their rep came out, the presentation was fine. I'd already done my research and reached out to them, so I knew what to expect when they got here. I already knew the whole portfolio, the specs, and everything that I was looking for. The only reason I had the person come out is because I needed to know the difference height-wise between a roof mount and an under awning thing mount. Since my son's 6'4, wound up doing a roof mount, so he wouldn't bang his head anywhere.
The guys who installed it were great, very smart, and knowledgeable. Considering the length that I got because of the size of my deck, they realized that it'd be a heck of a lot easier to bring it through the house than around the house and up the stairs to the deck. So, we wound up taking it through a window through the house. Overall, I was satisfied with SunSetter's service, price, and the quality of their product.

I got quotes from three different companies, and Gibson was selling the Sunsetter awning. That awning would work best for our porch 'cause we needed two, one next to each other. I got a motorized awning with the sunblock at the outside edge, and I got it with the lights also. The rolls are completely metal-covered and the awning goes out 13 feet. The only problem we've had is they had to come back and reattach it to the roof.
When Sunsetter first put the awning in, it settled in, then it started dipping, but that was just getting used to it. They reattached the screw and we've really enjoyed the awning. It's really great. I like it a lot. I'm looking forward to next year when we'll have it the whole season. I'm a little anxious about the fact that any wind may disrupt it, but that's the way it is. I did not get that wind feature with it because Gibson suggested not to get it. They said that people think that will solve the problem, but it won't, then they forget about it. However, maybe I should reach out to the company and see if it's something that can be added now.

However, we had to bounce around and find possibilities online, and we called them and got somebody who handled all kinds of products and didn't try to sell anything to us. We went knowing what we wanted, so we hunted around until we found somebody we could get the awning from and ended up ordering it directly online, but we had no help in finding vendors in the area. We were led to believe one vendor of another product could help us because we weren't sure how to install it until we picked up more information. That was quite a drive away from where we were even though we're next to a big metropolitan area. That part was frustrating.
Once we got it ordered, it didn't fall through at the SunSetter and we were told a delivery date of three weeks. At four weeks, we called and asked where it was but they didn't even have our order, so we had to order again. But we eventually got it up here. We're happy with it. However, it was on the expensive side. I expect it to be more involved in the end product. Hopefully that will show up and it's well-made. It looks well-made, but we haven't had a windy or terribly rainy summer here. I have to wait and see how it performs when we need it.

I paid almost $800 for an install to this salesman who sold me the actual SunSetter. It was a lot considering I spent almost 5,000 on the awning. He and his son came. I guess this SunSetter is a privately-owned one. They are a franchise and he does the installs and the sales for SunSetter. But the awning works great. It's exactly what I wanted. But we had to cut down a bunch of trees and that made our deck so hot we couldn’t sit out there, so we needed an awning. The installer was amazing, and he did a terrific job. Having the SunSetter there has been one of the best things.

The salesperson from SunSetter was the same guy that did the installation along with his crew and he was really nice, knew the product, and very professional. They had to do a little bit of modification, but they knew what they were doing, and they were great. I also had a problem with the remote, where it kept closing on its own and everything was getting wet. I was back and forth with customer service, but they rectified it quickly, and it was resolved.
I love being outdoors until the winter months. I have a fire pit and a barbecue grill, an outdoor kitchen, dining table, and we eat out there. I also have a big TV and a couch. So, we literally live outside during the season. And my house is situated where the sun goes across my entire house all day long. July, August, you could fry an egg on your head out there. So, I leave the awning open all the time, and I can’t believe what it withstands.

We have a composite deck that gets hotter than Hades if we don’t have something to cool it down, so we use the SunSetter to keep half of the deck cool and give her relief from the sun. My experience setting everything up was very good. Everything was very nice. I only have one complaint. And he came back and looked at it and said there wasn't much he could do. When it closes, the brackets that support it when it's open hang down and they're very visible. So, I don't know if it's really something that could be fixed or not. Our previous awning wore out. So we decided to purchase a new awning from Sunsetter again because that’s who we had before and we like it. We also like the fabric itself and the colors that they offer. The awning we chose was motorized.
The representative who came out to help design the awning was great.
The first time they brought the awning, it was totally the wrong awning, but wasn't the installers fault. They loaded up the wrong awning into his truck. And they brought it back here to put in there. Thank God we were home because otherwise, they would have installed a totally wrong awning. But they were very good about getting it replaced, ordering it, and getting it to us as timely as possible. We wanted it for a party and it would have been done for the party, but it was the wrong awning, as it turned out. But all in all, it was fine.

When we purchased our town home, there was already an awning attached but it was wearing out and getting old. I was gonna replace it last year and never got around to it. And then we were at Costco and SunSetter had a 20% discount, so I got the premium awning with the remote and the sunshade that rolls down. I love it. It's been great. The squeaky noise when I was rolling down the screen in the beginning finally went away, but when it rains, the water just pools up on top of it. I didn't even have it out that far, just a little bit to cover my patio and keep it from getting wet. It was sagging in the middle and I had to take a handle of a broom and just pour it off of it. I called the project manager and left her a voicemail but she never did get back to me. Overall, my experience has been wonderful. I'm also the HOA president and I would like to get one out at our pool area.

I've heard SunSetter was the best and I have family that have bought SunSetter in the past. They were the perfect choice. I got an automatic awning and it has a wind guard. It’s very nice and I love it. It works when it's supposed to work and comes in when it's supposed to come in. Our house has a very sunny exposure in the summertime, and it just heats up the whole house. The awning just takes it down about five degrees and we use it every day.
The only thing that's a little confusing is when you have to reprogram the remote. It's not intuitive, in my opinion. But if you follow the directions two or three times, you'll eventually get it. I've also had one of the awnings for three years, and it still looks brand new and works great.
However, they changed the way they do things when you buy through Costco. I bought one before and had it installed, and it was no big deal. When I bought this last one, I had to use their company and on their time schedule. It was more of a pain in the butt than anything.
In addition to that, they ran them on sale. The first one I got was 20% off, which was great. This time, what I got was a 20% gift card to Costco, which does me no good because I'm now tied to Costco. It was fine and we'll use it. But every purchase I make on that, I don't get my points that I would get from my credit card. It's baloney. It's for them to benefit and screw us. But that’s the way it goes.

The experience with SunSetter was the first time we purchased an awning. We didn't really know what to expect. Unfortunately, the salesperson who came just didn't really know a lot. We ended up just trusting their judgment, which didn't work out for the best experience. But we did pick an awning and took a few months before it got installed and we had it. We're still missing one piece right now, but it worked out okay.
The awning is meant as a cover for our outside patio in the summer. It's meant to be for those really sunny summer days. So I'll end up using it a handful of times over the summer. Unfortunately, the salesperson had given us a place to put it, but it actually does not block the sun. SunSetter had a not-so-great salesperson and we were struggling with how to use it over the summer. But the company helped us find a workaround.
I also have shared this directly with the owner of SunSetter. They have done everything they can to make it right and it is a generally positive experience. I would be very mindful of where the sun is at the time of day you want to use it. Because if you put it on the wrong spot on your outside of your house, it isn't as useful as you would want it to be. If there was a better salesperson, that person would have made us aware of that. I absolutely would buy it again. I would just position it somewhere different.

The awning was retractable and has lights and sensors on it if the wind picks up. It comes out at least 10 feet. I use it every day. We had one little hitch when it came to measurement but they did it right and they gave us something to compensate us for the mistake that they made. It all came out perfect. They were easy to deal with and were top-notch.
We have the motorized awning and it has a remote. It is awesome. We were going to get the one that has a cassette, but we couldn't because of the space that we had wasn't big enough.
The awning makes the house look prettier. It cools off the house. We just had the deck put on and we can sit out there on a hot day and don't feel the heat at all. I'm glad we did it. However it's not so warm like it was so we haven't been using it. But I can't wait until the time comes and we can do it again. When it's out, the color's so pretty and it really matches the house well and it steps it up a little bit. It looks really nice.
It's not cheap but you get what you pay for, so it's worth every penny. With Costco, we've got a lot of discounts, rebates and shop cards which brought the price down. It's an investment that we'll have. It's guaranteed for a long time. If it was cheap, it probably would be done cheaply.
The measuring people were nice. The installation people and the gal that I dealt with on the phone and emails were really helpful. It’s a very good experience overall.

I don’t use it out there when there’s heavy wind and rain because I don’t think it would be able to hold the pressure, and water is heavy. And I got no reason to go out in the rain anyway. SunSetter is a known brand. And when I bought my house here, there was an old SunSetter on the back. Apparently, I bought the house with a manual crank model, and it was stuck open and jury-rigged all kinds of ways. And when the wind would blow hard, it would just beat my house to death.
So, when I first moved in, I thought I’d replace it, which my wife also agreed. And I called and checked on the pricing because they used to have a place up in Boston right near where a buddy of mine lived. So, it seemed pretty reasonable with a veteran’s discount. But my wife said if it’s 2,000, we’re not doing it. So, we did not.
So, after my wife passed, I started working on my home, and I decided to replace that SunSetter. And what I wasn’t really aware of was that there are too many different companies that made them. So, I went back to SunSetter through Costco, since I’m a Costco member, to order my new SunSetter and to get discounts through Costco.
When I ordered, the representative went through the details of my order. And I actually even had a local person call some local company to try to see if they could help me with the whole experience, which I turned them away because I was going to install it myself.
The product itself is fine, but I filed huge complaints because of the complete lack of communication during the shipping and ordering process. To be told that it would be on the way, there was a complete lack of updates. I had no clue when it was going to be coming or shipped. And they blamed it on the transportation company.
But the bottom line was that trying to get tracking information and trying to find out where my product was after I ordered was impossible. It was a horrid experience. And I told SunSetter I’d never order their crap again as a result. Even though I like the awning that I have, the experience of the shipping and the lack of communication were disgusting.

I bought a house that has an awning and after a couple of years, the aluminum arm on the awning broke and we can’t weld aluminum so we needed to replace the awning. I got in touch with a business located in Mooresville and they do a lot with SunSetter Awnings.
They had a salesperson from SunSetter come out and show me what they had available and we made a choice. I did a little bit of online reviewing and SunSetter seemed to be a reliable organization and a lot of people had satisfactory service from them. I went ahead and arranged to have our awning replaced.
The lady who did the presentation knew what she was doing. She knew how to establish a personal relationship. She was a good salesperson. She didn’t come in with strong arm tactics and she was willing to listen to what we wanted and what we didn't want and made a recommendation based on the criteria we had set.
The price of the awning doesn’t include installation and that was all revealed upfront. There were no hidden charges. The lady gave us a ballpark figure, and it was what we were charged for.
The installation went well. The team came on time and they installed it. They seemed to know what they were doing and then they told me how much it would cost and it was what I was expecting. I wrote out a check and got a receipt and everything went according to plan.
You can get cheap awnings that you can install yourself. But I decided not to go that route because I’m not a handyman and I didn’t have a lot of confidence that I would do it in a way that would be professionally done and would last. I would have been happier if the overall price had been lower, but it was not out of line with what I was seeing on the internet.

I also purchased the wind sensor and highly recommend it also. My deck is very elevated and catches a lot of wind.
I appreciate that there are several levels of sensitivity so I can have it automatically retract long before the wind picks up. It is very weatherproof also. If it is extended during rain, I can still enjoy being under it and no rain gets through because the fabric protects that well. I have recommended this product to several neighbors who have admired it. I live on a private golf course and it has been a very positive addition to the back of the home that golfers see.

The service man came out and told us the company had a bad batch of motors in 2023, and he has been busy replacing them. While on the phone with customer service to address the motor issue as they were charging 250.00 for the service call and 500.00 for the motor, the motor being replaced was spring loaded and flew off its mounting onto our new customer pool cover, putting a hole in the cover.
The individual from sun setter on the phone heard the encounter in real time. We were told to send a picture of the cover to the company with the bill. We did, got an email stating that the bill would be paid directly to the pool cover company on 7/7/25. Shortly thereafter, the pool company sent a detailed bill, as per sunsetter request. Sunsetter said the bill was too large and would not be paying. Sunsetter then told us to go to small claims court (they actually said to go to Judge Judy). The bill has not been paid by sunsetter. I would not recommend sunsetter to anyone! They get 1 star because I can’t give 0 stars

I did the installation myself and this last one that I put in, I had some trouble getting things to go in. I had to use a hammer. It seemed like the tolerances were a little too tight, but it was more about the enclosure cover 'cause I bought one of those aluminum ones, not the cloth. It could be how I installed the awning too. It would help with a little slack here and there, but that's not even a big concern. Other than that, the awning is an excellent product and I really like it.

They're reliable. I get my product shipped quickly and I don't have any surprises with pricing. Everything is straightforward. The quality of the awning I bought seems good as well. I don't have any qualms with what I purchased in terms of what I paid and what I got, so I'm satisfied. They showed me how it works. Then when I went to them in order to get it winterized, they just told me I'm on my own. So, once they sell the product, you're left. It's like buying a new car and there's not a dealership that will change your oil.

We got an awning that is 18-foot wide, comes out 11 feet, and is perfect for our upper deck. We live in Seattle and it’s been really hot here, but the SunSetter awning changes everything. We put the awning out in the morning or extend it in the afternoon, to keep the house cooler. It provides shade to the house, and does exactly what we thought it would do. I came across a Costco flyer for products they were selling. I thought Costco was selling it at a discount with installation included. It seemed like a generous discount and it was something we’d always wanted for our backyard. So we decided to move forward.
What they do is outsource the work to a third-party private construction company that regularly installs these items. They did it through Costco, but they also install it directly for customers who aren't Costco members.
I went online and researched the typical cost of installing a SunSetter awning. The awning that we installed is probably one of the most expensive awnings because it's the maximum size that SunSetter sells. It’s a 20-ft awning and it has almost all of the auxiliary accessories attached to it, so I was expecting it to be on the more expensive side.
As far as the awning is concerned, I didn't have any contact with anyone from Costco. I went on a website to place the order. It was a Costco website. I guess someone from Costco called up this construction company. I can’t remember the name. And then that person reached out to me, made an appointment to show the product and take measurements.
The installers, the crew who came out arrived exactly when they said they would. They put it up faster than I expected based on the timeframe they gave me, and everything has worked perfectly since then.

The install was good. They sent out these two younger gentlemen to do it. They tried so hard to do it, but we have a very old home and they could not find the studs to attach it to. They worked and worked. They were up and taking pictures and moving things. They worked on it for an hour. They were very diligent and nice, then they called us and they went back. What we got was probably pretty basic. It's 14 feet wide, 10x14. And the only feature it has is the LED lighting. I would say the installation was top-notch, in and out. You wouldn't even know they were there. I think it's very well built.
The company that came in and installed was not being overly pushy with the salesman. They told me what their opinion was, and what I needed in their opinion. And the installers came out. They were quick, clean, and quiet. You wouldn't even know they were there. It was seamless.
The only concern I have is that we're always worried about how much wind it can actually take before it gets ripped off the house, and it's not necessarily a manufacturer’s concern.Any time it starts to move, we get nervous.
We hurry up and just put it down because we're afraid that it’s gonna be blown in the wind. It's really nice, and we don't want it to get ruined.

I bought a SunSetter for my primary residence five years ago from Costco. Couldn’t beat the sale at the time. We really enjoyed the awning there. And then for our beach place, it was really not much to think about.
I did the purchase through the Costco website, and then it transfers you over to the SunSetter website. And then the Excel version of the SunSetter website is a little bit confusing. It goes up to 12 feet versus 10 on the regular. It takes a few times going through it to understand what it is you’re ordering. So, the website could be a little bit clearer.
There was also no presentation and no installation team because I installed it myself. I just hope that they would label the motor end on the cardboard tube that it ships in for somebody doing it themselves. Because it happened to me twice that I set it in place, and both times after pulling it out, I found that I had to flip-flop it.
Installing the awning was above average. The 20-foot awning is a heavy piece. Installing the brackets was straightforward. But the awning is gonna be 8 to 10 feet above the surface you're working from, so you need to prepare getting it up. And the awning I got is electric and retractable. It has the wind sensor.
