We purchased a new Shark recently and the customer service to replace/exchange the unit was dismissive and very disappointing, truly my experience is unacceptable. I have owned Shark vacuums for years and have loved them. We recently moved and I ordered the Shark Apex DuoClean PLA with Zero-M from the TV info commercial. We received the vacuum before we received our furniture from the moving company. The first time I used the vacuum it was so heavy I could hardly move it. I thought it may be the exhaustion from the move, packing and unpacking for weeks, etc. After trying it now on 5 different occasions, I reached out to Shark to discuss the possibility of an exchange as I spent $491 on the package purchase! I was informed I would have had to call within the first 90 days to return it and now we are at 5 months, even though I explained I have only used it 5 times now.
My husband and I are retired and in a limited budget. I will be turning 70 in a couple of months and consider myself fit, but this is more than a ‘workout’ for me—I simply cannot use the unit for fear of injury. Shark customer service was not interested in my issue and were completely unwilling to work with me in any way. Very disappointed, I would never recommend this vacuum but more importantly, because of their dismissive response to a real problem I experienced, I will never do business with Shark in the future. Unacceptable customer service.

Very disappointed with my Shark Rotator Lift Away. I have to cut the hair out of the roller regularly or the vacuum will not work. I have shoulder length hair which should not be an issue for a vacuum. I had my Dyson Animal for 10 years and it survived two labs that shed every day, teenager with long hair, me with shoulder length hair, my husband and boys with short hair. After our labs passed decided to try the Shark and am disappointed with the roller. I called Shark and was told to use my tweezers to dig out the hair - gross. I have owned this vacuum for less than 6 months and have had to clean hair out often. I have never had to do this with my Dyson or the Hoover I owned before that. I think Shark needs to improve this on their vacuums.

I've wanted a Shark for a long time but since I only have Social Security I didn't think I could ever get one. Then about a year ago, Macy's had them on sale. Mastercard and I bought a red Navigator. I have a very small house and no pets. The Shark worked fine at first. Then it just quit. I emptied the canister, though it wasn't full, and let it rest. As per instructions. It started but instead of cleaning, it DEPOSITED dirt. I got so frustrated I thumped it on the floor and a big pile of dirt fell out. From where?? Obviously, I can't just go buy another vacuum. I'm so very disappointed.

I had previously purchased a Shark vacuum and was very impressed and satisfied with both the performance and support for the unit. Because of this I purchased a second Shark vacuum. When the main hose split open on the new unit (Model #UV560 31, purchased on 3/6/16) I contacted customer service (9/6/19) and anticipated the same high level of support. Instead I was shocked and highly frustrated to hear that the 5 yr warranty “only covered the motor and nothing else”. I have read the warranty and this CLEARLY is not how the warranty is written.
It is ridiculous to think that the only part not considered a “non-durable part” is the motor. The examples given for non-durable parts such as brushes and filters make sense, but to think that every other part of the vacuum other than the motor falls into this category as well is utterly ridiculous and likely not even legal. I don’t know when Shark decided to stop supporting its product and grossly misrepresent its warranty, but I will never support such a dishonest and poor company. I now deeply regret my purchases and positive feedback I gave to others. There will never be another Shark product in my home.

I like my Shark handheld vac but I'm very disappointed in Shark. When product is older and not the newest model you can no longer get replacement parts for their vacuums. So I'm forced to purchase a new vac or use an old filter. Will never buy a Shark again. They force people to buy new instead of continue to use a good vac because I cant replace the filter. CRAP COMPANY THAT RIPS OFF CONSUMERS.

I have had 4 top of the line Shark vacs so far. Every single one develops the same problem - the lower hose in the powerhead separates in places after about a year and the vacuum ceases to function properly. You would think this known problem would have been corrected by now. Do not buy a Shark vacuum unless you plan on replacing it every year. I will never purchase another Shark product.

With seven dogs and three cats and a big pet hair problem, I was very excited to receive the Shark Ninja Apex Duo Clean vacuum cleaner. First, let me say that it really does clean as promised. It sucked up so much hair from my rugs that I was embarrassed. I have no problems with its ability to clean or the array of attachments that come with it.
My issues are with the heavy weight of the thing. It is truly a monster and difficult for the average woman to manage. It is very difficult to push and pull and it does not maneuver well at all, continually smashing into and damaging my furniture. My husband tried it out and he also said it is way too heavy and clumsy. My other issue is that the hose for the various attachments is too short, requiring me to bend way over when using the attachments, which bothers my back. There is also a learning curve involved with using the attachments. But that's the least of the problems. Unfortunately, I have no choice but to return it. But bear in mind, that it DOES clean very very well. But be prepared to get your daily workout when using it.

This vacuum is very top heavy and anytime you try to use the hose and attachments the entire body wants to tip over. The unit tipped over three or more times the very first time I tried to vacuum the couch. The suction power was good for getting up lots of dust. When I used the hose to try and do stairs it’s not long enough to stretch to all of the stairs. I had to do bottom stairs first then do top stairs. I only went down to third step down and even propped the vacuum against the wall to keep from tipping. The entire unit fell on my head rapidly and busted my head open and cut me and dented my forehead. This vacuum weighs almost 20 pounds so it hurt a lot! My head was bleeding and I felt dizzy. It cut me pretty good. There is no possible way to complete the stairs doing from the bottom. The picture of lady with long hose on box is misleading. I returned the vacuum and have been icing my head since!

I absolutely love my Shark Duo Ultra lift pet vacuum. Unfortunately after owning for a year the bristle roll brush stopped spinning. When I looked at it, it seemed as though the wheel bearing had seized up. When researching I found that you can purchase a new bristle roll brush for $12.95. I called Shark customer service to see if this was under warranty but they claimed it was not because it was considered wear and tear. She had me run a series of tests with my vacuum while on the phone and then decided I would have to purchase a new part. So I asked them if I needed to purchase a new bristle roll brush.
I was informed that I would have to purchase the entire base of the vacuum for $90. I told them I was not prepared to spend that much money and they offered to cut it in half without shipping. I again declined and told them I would wait. I did order the $12.95 roll brush and was actually able to carefully remove my wheel bearing area and clean it out. When I popped it back in the vacuum worked like new. Highly disappointed that instead of just selling me the $12.95 part, they try to upsell me and almost made me purchase half of a new vacuum.

Had a great customer service experience. My motor went on our Shark NV752 rotate powered lift away bagless pet vacuum. I called gave the model number and a couple other personal pieces of information. I was informed of the length of my warranty and they charged a $21 shipping and handling fee for the replacement piece. I received a new motor within 2 days. Quick, efficient, great customer service.

I purchased the Shark Stick vacuum because it was fairly lightweight and I thought it would be easy to handle because it was in the style of a stick. I found it top heavy and the area where you put your hand and thumb actually caused blisters. The overall cleaning at first was fast and very thorough. About a year later, I find myself looking at the Dyson vacuums. I find it a little cumbersome.

I bought the Shark Rocket TruePet Model HV322 in Aug. 2017. It is very lightweight, has amazing attachments & easy to remove dust cup & filters. The ONLY issue I have with this vacuum is that you have to go over things like short pet hair, sand, salt, etc. a few times to get all of it. Stronger suction would turn all those 4's to 5's!

One of the best features is the ability to take the sections of the vacuum apart to use attachments and get to high places. The one drawback is that it can be difficult to hold the motor up while vacuum high places. It gets heavy. But I understand the need to keep the hose a manageable length. Perhaps an extension hose would be aement. Good attachment.

Love Shark vacuums. I had believed that my carpet was clean when I was using another brand vacuum. The day I brought my Shark Navigator Lift-Away Professional Model UV540 26. (That model number was made for Costco. But it is the same as models NV350 series.) I vacuumed the carpet again using the Shark and it picked up half a canister of dirt and hair. I was stunned. It is lightweight and excellent suction and the headlight is great. They are sometimes sold with extra extensions and tools, but I only have the minimal. My only wish is that the hose was a bit longer. I need to purchase the extension, want to do my cobwebs and vents. Be sure to empty the canister when it reaches about 3/4 full and clean the filters often. Love this vacuum and all Shark products I have tried.

My Mom bought me an Ion Robot for my birthday to help me around the house and I was so excited. It worked great and saved me so much time cleaning. A week into use, one of the wheels locked up. My mom offered to return it to the store but I saw it had a warranty so I decided to call Shark. They gladly warrantied it and sent out another robot. Unfortunately, after about a week of use, the replacement robot had the same problem. I called Shark again and they had me send the whole unit back for a full replacement, which I received 5 days ago. Since then, this robot has ran 6 cycles, gotten stuck over 45 times, with a total of 3 times that it was legitimately stuck. The other 40ish times it got stuck was against an open wall, and it's doing it as I write this. It stays in one part of the house, even leaving a room I physically put it in, it has plowed over bot boundary strips, ran over my foot and slammed into furniture, but slows down for something like a dog bed.
Now I am frustrated as I cannot enjoy this product like I want to, and am tired of the inconvenience and inconsistencies of the product. I called customer service for the 3rd time today and was told to send the whole unit back, again, for another replacement. I expressed my frustrations and that I do not want any more replacements, I would prefer a refund and will happily send the product back. That's when I was told I cannot get a refund because they didn't sell it to me, they don't have my money and to take it back to the store I bought it from. Well, there's a couple issues with that.
Since Shark has replaced the unit, even if I'm within the time frame of the store's return policy, I cannot take this one back as the sku's will not match. The time to return it would have been the first week I used it, which looking back, is what I should have done. Also, I understand I bought it from a store, not Shark, but I think it's far fetched to say you don't have my money. So now I am stuck with a product I no longer want because it has done nothing but cause me aggravation, and am out the money to purchase something else. This one will be on it's way back to you today, let's hope bot #4 works.

The dirt/hair never goes past first compartment, you need a stick to empty it as everything gets stuck around the bar in 1st dirty compartment, the duo rolls collect hair and dirt so when you shut it off dirt falls onto floor and you have to pull hair from rollers. Very unsanitary. Does not clean well at all. Clogs constantly and all the filters clog per use. Would never own another. Guess time to try Dyson.

This vacuum cleaner picks up the animal hair along with everything else. It is super easy to empty into the outside trash bin and the filters are easy to clean the dustout and wash by hand. The beater bar is easy to clean and as long as you take care of it, it will take care of you. It has great suction and is easy to push around, almost self driven making it easier on those of us with joint and muscle problems. We have had other vacuums and the Shark is my favorite. We have owned this for more than 2 years and it works the same now as it did when we first got it. No bags, does not put dust into the air, washable filters...no complaints.

My Shark Navigator Freestyle has a recharge station and it worked fine for the first year or so, but lately it won't hold a charge. I don't know how to replace the batteries or if they are replaceable. It will start and work for a minute or two, then turn off. The machine's initial cleaning power was good, not great, and not very good picking up dog hair (we have 2 dogs and a lot of hair). If you have large seams in tile, for example, dust in the seams doesn't get picked up. It is basically light and relatively easy to maneuver.

We bought our Shark Lift-Away even though we had much higher priced vacuums (Dyson, Rainbow and even a Roomba) because we had purchased a lake home and had taken our Dyson there. This Shark actually blew my mind! So easy to use, so portable with quick change features and above all so powerful! I asked a local vacuum repair shop about their thoughts on the Shark when I took a vacuum to them (3rd time) for warranty repair and they rated it low because of getting parts... That proved untrue when I broke one of the hose connectors (my fault) and went online to order. Not only fast service but the part was inexpensive. That is why the repair shop didn’t like Shark; they will sell you the part and at a decent price! Plus these parts are easy to attach. I would refuse ANY vacuum cleaner offered to me for my Shark! That is how I feel about Shark!

This is a great little vacuum. The only negatives are it should last longer per charge than the 15 or 20 minutes when you use turbo boost. Also it is nice and small and fits in areas very well. The pocket that you change out to clean all the hair or dirt should be easier to use than it currently is. We have two dogs and it does a good job of removing the hair from the carpets however doing a 400 square-foot area almost completely fills the pocket.

It seems to be top heavy! The brush casing is small compared to the weight of the tank and just a touch in walking past it causes it to fall over. Also the travel path of the dirt must make a sharp turn at some point, because I have had to take it apart twice, to clear the blockage. This is normal dirt with cat hair and regular carpet fuzz. The first person I spoke with said he did not understand what "product recall" meant and could I please spell it for him....he explained that he is from another country and didn't understand. I in turn said that not only should he NOT be working in any sort of customer service if he has no understanding of the English language, but the fact that he didn't get it was a "You Problem and should not be a me problem". He would not allow me to speak to a supervisor and as I continued to insist to do so he came back to the phone and said the supervisor was ready for him to transfer the call and speak to me. Well, after waiting for 67 minutes they hung up on me. I knew they put me on hold just to mess with me, but I was prepared to wait as long as it took....I have unlimited minutes and another phone. I would have waited all day.
My 2nd call wasn't much better. Then I called the number for my Ninja Foodi. It turned out to be a sales dept in the same state I live in....Amazing. I have purchased 5 Shark stick vacuums within the last year... for my kids and myself. I have been totally happy with the product, but my daughter who has had hers the shortest time and uses the least had the lower unit quit working last month (unit was literally just 1 year old last month). She contacted them to request a repair under warranty (5-year) and was told the entire lower unit was a "wearable part not covered by the warranty". I couldn't believe it so I contacted Shark myself and was told the same thing. Basically EVERYTHING on ANY shark except the motor in the top IS CONSIDERED A WEARABLE part and not covered by the warranty.
I WILL NEVER recommend this product again to ANYONE. IMHO, that is FALSE and misleading warranty information. Filters, rollers... yes those are replaceable wearable parts and should not be included in the warranty, but the lower unit which is 50% of the vacuum to not work and be considered a replaceable part is not what anyone would expect as normal. This part costs $80. If it can't last longer than a year, then in 5 years you have paid $400 for the vacuum that initially cost under $300.00. That makes it a throw-away.

Still the brush roll would not work. I attempted to return the part on the Shark website, as it has a 5 year warranty. I found out that I cannot return the defective brush roll because I don't have the original receipt for the purchase. The manufacture date is on the plug and it is clearly within the warranty period. That piece will cost me $71.99 and I asked them why they are not supporting their product when it's their product that has a malfunction because to get it to do any suction I had to cover the intake valve even though the bottom piece is not sucking any longer.
The only way I could get it to suck was if I covered the intake valve which causes the motor to overheat so I can't really vacuum that way so they showed no customer support today and I have brought numerous products of theirs. After using Shark Vacs for about 10 years, my the brush roller on my 3 year old Shark Rotator stopped working in December of 2017. I could vac bare floors but carpets were left dirty. On March 16th of 2018 my husband and I decided to buy the newest Shark Duo Clean. Paid $465 at Lowe’s Home Improvements. On March 20th of this year, my husband was using our one year old Shark Duo Clean to vac an oriental rug that we had vacuumed many times before using the new vacuum.
I was sitting across the room watching him vac the center of the rug. When suddenly, there was a very loud breaking/cracking sound & debris flew across the room just in front of me. My husband immediately turned the vac off and I picked up the pieces of debris. We looked at the rollers and to our astonishment, the belt that worked the brush roller had exploded out the side of the “garage” (as they call it) part of the attachment. It was wedged in the side of it where the plastic had exploded out. The debris came from the exploded side and from one of the roller wheels.
If I had been 2 feet closer to my husband the exploding debris would have struck me. My husband immediately turned the vac upside down to try & see what had actually happened. But there was nothing in the rollers that he that could have done to cause it to explode. It was just spontaneous. He then called customer service at which time they told him that he must have let it overheat!
How ridiculous... He had just turned the vac on and had not been vacuuming more than 2 minutes. He was told that the entire roller attachment had to be replaced at the cost of about $96 dollars plus shipping & tax. And then the young man told my husband it was all “his fault”. Then basically he hung up on my husband when he told him that we could not afford it and that we feel it should be free since the vac was just a year & 4 days old.
After my husband hung up I was very angry as I was listening to the conversation. So I called back and got a different representative. I explained what happened again and told him that I expected something more than what the other very rude young man offered since the vac was only a year & 4 days old. He offered to sell it to me for 50% off & no shipping. I agreed with that offer and the part was ordered & he said we would receive it in 3-5 business days.
Then he said “I am so sorry, but I just realized this is on back order.” I ask him how long would it be & he said no more than 2 weeks. In the ensuing 2 weeks I became very ill & did not follow up on this order as I normally would have done. I knew I would receive a copy of the order and some tracking info. But since I have been ill I simply forgot.
Well, 2 weeks was today. This morning my husband said there is a box on the porch & we were assuming it was the part... It of course was NOT the part. So then I called customer service again and I was told by a nice young man that I had been told incorrectly because although it was on back order, the earliest possible ship date was June 15th!
He also told me that he had no idea why I had not received an email with the date. He asked me to hold while he checked something. He then came back and said that the computer HAD NOT SENT ME AN EMAIL and he could not understand why it was not sent. He then confirmed my email address & promptly sent me an email. I asked for a new vacuum and he said I was not entitled to one. And that I would just have to wait until June & then he hung up. So here I am with no vacuum cleaner for 2 & a half months and I can’t afford a new one. Shark has definitely lost a long time customer. SHAME ON YOU SHARK!!!

I'll give this vacuum one this. It definitely sucks. It'll clean the floor and all that but here's the main beef I have with it, It can hardly stand up on Its own in upright mode and It falls over or almost falls over multiple times every time I use it. I have countless dents and chips in my walls and furniture just from letting it sit for a moment or while using the attachments. Having said that, I've used it as a canister vacuum. Same issue, the the hose and vacuum head fall over even more often but thankfully it causes less damage when it falls. I've even leaned it up against the wall just to hear it fall over in the middle of the night. I swear, a fly could knock this thing over.
It blows my mind that the engineers that built the thing didn't see this as a potential issue or at least design something to hold the vacuum up when It's not in use. Other than that, the beater brush rattles around and sounds like It could break at any time and I'm actually quite surprised it hasn't yet. I could overlook that though and It wouldn't be such a terrible appliance if it could just stop falling all the time.

We have purchased this Shark Rotator Powered Lift-Away some time ago, and spent $400 dollars, and as elderly people who do not have a lot of money to spend on things like vacuum cleaners, we have had enough of this Shark. It only worked well for about 4 months, then after that the rollers that are supposed to pick up pet hair constantly were getting clogged, and you could clean it and clean it, and still it never worked well, and now here in 2019, it just does not pick up anything, and puts out this awful smell every time it is used. I can assure you, we will never buy another Shark product. Our belief is that this company is corrupt in producing a product which they claim is superior to other brands, when in every way it fails to live up to the company's hype.

I am a disabled senior citizen on a very tight budget. I bought this Shark vacuum a while ago after seeing it on TV. I am 65 years old and decided to splurge after moving into a senior apartment. I paid $69.99 for 6 months. I spent more time cleaning the rollers by hand than I did vacuuming. I have a cat who sheds from time to time. But instead of vacuuming the hair up, it just wrapped around the roller brushes. And it was a beast to get the hair unwrapped. And I had to clear these brushes about 4 or 5 times in the time it took to vacuum my very small apartment. So now it sits in a corner in my bedroom and I borrow a vacuum when I need one. You're probably thinking that I'm exaggerating, but believe me, I'm not. I was never one to splurge in my past, but I let my guard down and now I have a vacuum that cost me over $400.00 sitting in a corner in my bedroom. Please think twice before dealing with this company.

After much deliberation and consideration, I bought my Shark DuoClean Lift Away as a Christmas present and wish that I had never wasted the £250.00 I spent. It is quite possibly the worst hoover I have ever had.If I can offer one word of advice it is DON'T!!! It does not suck anything up properly at all. It scoops up bits of debris in the rollers and brush system, and then spits everything back out again. Using the handheld wand (trust me there is no magic here)...anything that it may pick up, and it's very choosy, it just drops back out again!
During my initial call to customer services I asked for either a replacement or refund, but I was told that they needed to follow their repair policy, and I was then asked to take the device apart, give it a shake, drop a coin through the hose, peep through it to see if it was clear and click it all back together again! I asked if they could send an engineer to look at it as there was obviously a suction issue, I was told that all customer service representative are the engineers. Wow. Really hands on I thought. However they said they would send me a new filter as this would definitely sort out the problem. My second call (almost two weeks later), was to ask where my filter was.
My third call, after the filters arrived and made absolutely no difference whatsoever, I asked for a replacement or refund... and to speak to a manager. "We will send you a new motor, that will do the trick," they said. "Oh and will get a call to you." Guess what... the motor made no difference. Almost five weeks with no vacuuming, I have had to borrow a hoover!!! And nobody called. I was beginning to sense a pattern here. So I called again. Stated that the device they sold me still did not work properly, the new filter and the new motor has made no improvement, there is still no suction via the Lift Away unit and the device spits out everything it has picked up. "We will get someone to call you," they said (again), "I have already requested a call," I said, "Let's just check we have one booked in for you," was the reply!
I reiterated that they had sold me a device that did not do the job that it should, I have borrowed a hoover today just to clean up as I have been unable to do so properly for over 6 weeks, and wish that I had purchased anything other than a SHARK! Since my telephone call this morning to Shark I have contacted Trading Standards & CAB who inform me that I am indeed entitled to a refund under the Consumer Rights Act 2015. The process is now underway.

I purchased the Shark NV752 in May 2016. It retails for close to $400, and claims to have a 7-year limited warranty. The warranty information states that it covers defects in workmanship and non-wearable parts. In the exclusion section, it lists several of the "wearable" parts. After 2.5 years, a section of hose that is almost fully encased at the bottom of the vacuum suddenly developed slits, and therefore the vacuum would not suction properly. It is not a "wearable" portion, as it is at the base of the unit, protected by plastic housing, and not the portion of hose that is stretched or handled with use. It appears as though the plastic used in that portion of the hose became hardened and brittle, causing the cracking.
I called Shark, and was told that the only thing "possibly" covered by the warranty is motor failure. If that is the case, it should clearly state that in the warranty information that consumers rely on when evaluating and comparing for purchase. I was told that I could not just replace the hosing, that it required purchasing the entire base (to include the motor) for $119. When I argued that I shouldn't have to pay for a defective part, I was offered 50% off - $60. I paid more for this brand and model of vacuum, trusting that it would function fully, without repairs, for a reasonable period of time. 2.5 years falls short of that expectation by several years.
Every other brand of vacuum that I have ever purchased, at a much lower price point, has lasted a minimum of 5 years without requiring repairs or replacement parts. The part of my vacuum that is defective is but accessible to be replaced on its own, so I have to purchase an entire bottom half (which happens to include the motor). This defect should absolutely be covered by warranty. Their customer service almost seems to be "sales" driven, in pushing for the purchase of the part. So disappointed and frustrated! Definitely feel cheated by this company.

It all started when my wife washed the entire vacuum. I came home from work not knowing it had water in it. I tried to start it up and sparks flew so I shut it off. Waited 2 days, started it up again, sparks flew and this time It smelled like I burnt the motor up, after taking it apart the fuse wasn't blown and when I ohmed out the motor checked out good so I hooked it all back together and it's been running good ever since. The kicker is Shark told me it was shot and needed replaced with a new vacuum. They are quick to make you buy a new one when there is a safety somewhere in it that makes it act as if it's shot. Don't trust the company. Take it apart and fix it yourself.

Shark why would you take the LED light off of the Handheld part of the Shark F80 MultiFlex Cordless Stick Vacuum. Honestly, this feature on my old corded Shark Rocket HV324Q. I like the cordless feature of the new Shark vacuum and the suction seems to be powerful enough to get the job done. Quite a lot of my house cleaning would entail detaching the floor nozzle from the wand. When I would do this to clean along baseboards or hard to reach areas I still had the bright LED light to help me to find the dirty places. I miss this feature quite a bit! Too bad something so small that is missing could make such a large impact on the overall enjoyment and usability. Big mistake Shark for such a little feature.

It was 50% off and only cost me $35 so I wasn't that upset. I received the unit quickly and found out that wasn't the issue with the vacuum as the brush still did not engage.
I called Shark back and they are sending a new vacuum (4 week turnaround due to being out of stock) and refunding me for the part I bought while allowing me to keep it. I do have to find a box to ship my old unit back (at their expense). All in all I am satisfied with this solution and process though I thought the warranty should cover the actual moving parts not just the plastic covering and hoses.

Let me start by saying that for 10+ years, I have been a loyal Shark Vacuum cleaner customer. I have purchased several vacuums, not only for myself but also as gifts for family and friends. Not only was the product superior to all others I have owned (including Dyson), but the customer service was second-to-none. I can recall numerous times calling about issues with my vacuums, and was always pleased with the response – and it was usually above and beyond. However, my recent experience with their off-shore customer service call center was not only less than I am accustomed to, but was absolutely insulting. I purchased the Shark Powered Lift-Away Speed DuoClean Vacuum (NV801) on May 12, 2017 at Kohl's. It was on sale for $279.99. I purchased this model because I have both hardwood floors and carpet, and several pets.
The vacuum it was replacing was a Shark Rotator Lift-Away (Model NV502) purchased on July 5, 2015. The DuoClean feature was the main reason for my upgrade – the NV502 was (and still is) running perfectly. I have been very, very pleased with the performance of the NV801 – the Lift-Away and DuoClean features have lived up to expectations. Please note that I have purchased a replacement front brush roller and filters, so I am well aware that “wear items” are not covered under the warranty and am more than willing to pay for them. We also own a Shark SV1106 Navigator Freestyle Cordless Vacuum and recently purchased a new battery.
A couple of weeks ago, the NV801 stopped performing on carpet – the brush rollers were simply not spinning when vacuuming on the carpets. The suction in the hose and on the hard floor option was fine. We proceeded to clean the rollers, filters and checked for blockages – also watched videos from their website and on YouTube in an attempt to fix the problem, to no avail. So, it was time to call customer service – but I was confident – this won’t be a problem – Shark’s customer service is amazing!
It is an understatement that my experience did not live up to my expectations. The first person I spoke with was finally able to diagnose that the problem was the floor nozzle assembly – basically the entire bottom section of the vacuum (everything but the hose/pole, canister and motor) and that it was a “wearable part” and would cost $89 + shipping and handling for the replacement. This was unacceptable! The entire floor vacuum component of the unit is faulty after only 1.5 years of use, and I have to pay for it?? Even with the “courtesy” offer to reduce the cost to $44.72, I still asked to speak to a supervisor. This conversation was on Tuesday, January 8th at approximately 6 PM Eastern time. I was told I would receive a return call in 2-4 hours. No call that night, and when the call was returned the next day (Wednesday, January 9th), it was to my home phone, not my cell phone, and I was at work.
I called back and was abruptly told – “you didn’t answer our call – so you can now wait 24 to 48 hours for a callback." I waited until I arrived home that evening, and called customer service at 5:30 PM Eastern. After insisting to speak to someone – that a 24 to 48 hour call back time was unreasonable, I was connected to a supervisor – who once again stated that there was nothing that could be done. I asked to speak to her manager, and was told no one was available.
After ending that discussion, I called back and after waiting on hold for 40 minutes (it's now 7:50 PM), was connected to the “floor manager”. When I once again explained my disappointment in the service, I received the same response. I have a limited warranty, which I was told I should read (in a very condescending tone) and the floor nozzle is not covered under the warranty. I asked how it was possible that the second most important part of the vacuum (after the motor) was not covered, he actually had the nerve to tell me that the floor nozzle assembly is “not required to use the vacuum”. REALLY??!! Are you kidding me? He proceeded to say the vacuum functions without the floor bar – I could use the hose to do my vacuuming.
I could not believe what I was hearing!! I asked him if he actually saw the infomercials and advertisements – that the main selling feature of the “DuoClean” is the floor capabilities. And this is not a canister vacuum – it’s an upright vacuum sold to clean floors!!! When I asked to be directed to someone who set these policies, I was told there was no one – really??? No one in the Global Headquarters in Needham, MA? He absolutely refused to give me a phone number, email address or to have someone else call me back – he was the final authority. Absolutely outrageous – over 1,200 associates and no one else is responsible for customer service??!! Unbelievable!!!
So, I visited the SharkNinja website at www.sharkninja.com and I was taken back by their Vision & Growth statement: “SharkNinja is a relentless innovator in the housewares industry because we sweat the details. We obsess about consumer satisfaction. We build up our company by building up our people. We seize opportunities—individually and collectively—to be competitive with our products and attract the most talented people in the world. Through an unrelenting focus on solving for consumer’s pain points, SharkNinja has built a loyal and passionate following that continues to garner us 5 star ratings on our products. It’s that unwavering consumer focus that has enabled Shark to become one of the top brands in vacuum cleaners, and for Ninja to become one of the market leaders in the kitchen category.”
I actually laughed when I read that. Clearly, they no longer obsess about customer satisfaction based on their call center’s treatment of customers. After one more set of phone calls and emails, I was told the best they could do was to give me the part for “free”, I just had to pay shipping and handling of $18. I basically gave up – and agreed. I was told the part would be delivered in 3-5 business days. I received a receipt via email, but no tracking information. When the part did not arrive, I emailed and was told the part was on back order – I should receive it in 4-6 WEEKS! Really – and you didn’t know that when I called. Clearly if this part has a 4-6 week back order, there is a quality problem.
It is so, so disappointing that Shark has devolved into just one of many companies who refuse to stand by their products. And by the way, I also found complaints on the Better Business Bureau website, many of which concerned the exact same problem as mine! Clearly, they have a quality problem and are unwilling to take responsibility.

Since it was less than 6 months old, the tech advised that it needed to be replaced and had to pay $19.95 for shipping. I proceeded to provide my CC info and a return label was supposed to be issued by email, waited a couple days since I didn't receive the label, called again, a new customer service person said that they were having issues with the labels. Shark products are phenomenal within the first year but with each of our Shark products (vacuum, hand-held vac, and professional floor steam cleaner) after the warranty expires, the products also either expire or they don't work properly. In my case the brush head stopped turning although the remainder of the unit works correctly and Shark concluded the brush assembly was defective through their own troubleshooting processes. They would only offer me a discount on the purchase of a replacement assembly.
I had the brush assembly and attaching hose replaced on my last Shark vacuum without incident but was assured the warranty had since changed. My experience has gone as follow; First phone call, the CSR couldn’t find my information under my phone or email address. I provided a second email address and he was able to find my info. Although I told the rep that my unit would not turn on, he asked me what kind of sound the motor was making and what color was the light, was it green or was it red.
Finally he did say that they would take the unit back and replace it, however I never received the email he said he sent that would include shipping label for the return of my unit, although he did receive the 19.95 I had to pay for the return shipping. I requested a confirmation number and was put on hold and after approximately 15 minutes I was hung up on.
Second phone call, the CSR couldn’t find my information under the second email address I had given the first CSR. But found it under the first email address I gave the previous CSR. Consequently put me on hold after 20 minutes and I was hung up on. Third CSR was a little bit better but after I requested a confirmation number was hung up on after a lengthy 15 or 20 minutes on hold.

We tried the vacuum once and were highly dissatisfied with the product's quality and performance. The two fully charged batteries barely lasted 10 minutes each regular speed on a mix of carpet and vinyl floors. Not even enough time to clean our small 1000 sq ft home. It also overheated and kept shutting itself down. We didn't pay $400/$500 for something that can only be used as a handvac. The advertisements all claimed whole house cleaning without the cord. Per the 60 Day Money Back Guarantee, we returned it via USPS, paying postage ourselves. There was no damage to the vacuum, having only used it once. We boxed it in the original vacuum box with all its accessories (none of which were used), as well as included the emailed receipt and the list of reasons for the return.
The return was confirmed as received by Shark. We've been calling and emailing Customer Service about our refund. We were told by Customer Service it takes 7-10 business to process. It's been 30 business days since the return was received by Shark and we still have no refund. All continued contact with Customer Service has been the same runaround - be patient, the refund has been issued, wait to hear from the Escalation department. We filed a complaint with the credit card but we aren't shown SharkNinja's response. Only that the credit card has 8 more business days to review. So we filed a complaint with the BBB today. 30 business days is long enough and we want our refund. We own a Shark Rocket Pet that works great but we'll never buy another product direct from the SharkNinja company ever again. They don't honor their own 60 Day Money Back Guarantee.

I have a Shark rotator vacuum. I had it for a few years now and within the 1st year the motor stopped working and I called Shark and they sent me the new part that was working but now the button on the wand broke off. I have called the Shark customer service and paid for them to send the new wand because the lady told me they don't sell the button by itself. So I went ahead and purchase what I thought was the wand and a few days pass and I receive the hose and the handle a completely different part than the one I was calling for.
Keep in mind I had to pay like $7 for shipping so I called them and I told them they shipped me the wrong part. I never mention nothing about a hose. I need the wand so the girl told me, "Ok you need to ship that part we sent you back". (I have to pay to shipping to them). The lady told me she would sent me an email to the address to send it to. Fast forward 2 days later I called again. I never receive no emails and I made sure they had the correct on even spelling it out and now this lady tells me they do not sent emails with pre pay label. I have to send it back if I want my money back and then call them again to ask for my money. Bottom line is I will never purchase a Shark product again. They do not know what they're doing. One says one thing. Other says a different thing and here I am $80 less and no working machine.

The gentleman I spoke with at Shark was kind, but the warranty for a the Shark product is very poor. I purchased a Shark Rotator in 1/2017 because they stated on QVC that it was a great product for pet hair, and it was for the first few months. About four months in it started not picking up the pet hair anymore but sweeping it into a pile and backing up into the beater bar. I finally had a chance to call Shark today, and they told me that they would have to replace the beater bar unit and they would only charge me $95.00. When I explained that this item should work longer than 11 months when you spend over $400, he offered to give me a 50% discount. REALLY!!! If I am going to pay that kind of money for an item it better last more than one year, or they better replace it for free. I will not be purchasing another Shark item and I will be letting people know about my experience with Shark.

If anyone is shopping for a new vacuum cleaner, based on my recent experience with Shark, I would NOT recommend them. ONE OF THE WORST! I should have gone with my gut and stuck with Dyson. Shark sent the wrong cleaner (after spending over an hour on the phone trying to decide the best cleaner to fit my needs). Called 3 different times to let them know I received the wrong cleaner. Long story short, after 5 days of calling, still wasn't resolved. Sent it back, hoping I get a refund... Dyson came through in a pinch... Getting it Friday. :D

Purchased the UV795 at Costco November 2016 and by November of 2017 the power head brush roller was practically useless. At that time under the 5 year warranty, they did replace the whole floor power unit for shipping only. Well, here it is November 2018, and of course the brush roller is practically useless again since it is worn out. I tried again to get another warranty replacement, but was told that their "policy" has changed and that the roller unit is a "wear & tear" item not covered by warranty, and that I would have to purchase a new one for $95. UNACCEPTABLE! If they would design this unit so that the brush roller could be replaced (a usually $20 item on most vacuums) it would make better sense than ripping customers off for a wear and tear item. NO MORE SHARKS!!!

November 2018. Completely dissatisfied! Not only with Product, Product Warranty, also with customer service after sale! We purchased this Duo Clean vacuum after researching warranties. We decided to purchase because of the 5-year v.i.p warranty. The vacuum worked for 4 months. The power head stopped working. The 5-year v.i.p warranty is a scam! After owning this vacuum for 4 months, we are told the power head is a “wear & tear” item. Which means it is not covered by warranty.
Legal context of “wear & tear”. Legal context used for such areas as warranty contracts from manufacturers, which usually stipulate the damage from wear & tear will not be covered. ‘Wear & Tear”, form of depreciation which is assumed to occur even when an item is used competently and with care and proper maintenance. As a potential customer, understand that this $300+ unit will not last more than 4 months. In addition, manufacturer will not stand behind their product for as little as 4 months.
Up until this experience we have been happy with Shark / Ninja products. (Rosenzweig Co.) (Euro-Pro) Mother company. Not only have we decided as a family to no longer support this company and its products and false warranties. * We spoke to customer service about this product. The customer service rep hung up on us after we asked why this was considered a “wear & tear” item if the power head is part of the motor workings? Very misleading warranty. Shark/Ninja warranty scam! Even worse customer service.

We bought this vacuum 2 years ago at Best Buy. Within the first 12-14 months, the lower power head failed. We weren't overly concerned because the warranty covered 5 years. Today, Nov. 12, 2018 I called the customer service department and was told that the power head unit is classed as a part subject to "normal wear", which is excluded by the warranty. Well, I wonder what parts on a vacuum are not subject to "normal wear"? Everything is making the 5 year warranty worthless. Not happy with this vacuum and will not buy another Shark.

I’m to be without a vacuum for this long. Their only other advice was to call Best Buy or wait until the vacuum is in stock. No other options for us. We bought 2 Shark vacuums (Canister and Stick) and the results were terrible. 'Exercise in Futility' best describes both of them. The filters plug in the first minutes of use and (once plugged) there's no cleaning them. The 'Hepa' filter is nothing more than a piece of dense foam with a felt pad beneath it and it's disgusting to service. Opening the vacuum to empty it means - you need a shower. The dirt goes everywhere as soon as the compartments are opened (there's no containment system). These vacuums won't even pick up a pine nut or dried garden pea let alone heavy dirt like sand. DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY!

This vacuum did not work from the day I received it. I phone customer service and was assured I would receive a replacement. The replacement never came. Shark Ninja was charging my card $19.99 for a return sticker. I stated I should not have to pay for a return sticker. They continued to charge my credit card. I phoned my credit card company disputing the charge. I stopped paying for the Shark Ninja due to not having a new replacement like promised and still not having a $387.00 vacuum that did not work.
The battery heats up and the vacuum stops running after 5 minutes. This would continuously happen. I now am receiving threatening email communication demanding payment for a product that I cannot use. I phoned Shark Ninja again, customer service informed me that they will not assist in a return unless I start paying on the vacuum again and fulfill my monthly payment agreement. Again I stated I will not pay for a product that I cannot use. Customer service stated, "Well I can't help you!" I will never purchase another Shark product ever again. DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT.

When I called Customer Service to file a warranty claim, she informed me that it was not covered & I would need to pay $69.95 + shipping just for the floor nozzle and that it was on back order for 6-8 weeks! I bought this vacuum from Bed, Bath and Beyond 3 months ago. Now the floor nozzle stopped working. It seems to get no power, but the light on the wand never turns off, even after putting it back into the nozzle. I called customer service and they made me go through all the troubleshooting steps, which by the way are completely asinine. When they decided it was the floor nozzle that needed to be replaced (I'm not even sure that's what wrong, as the customer service representative had the hardest time understanding what we were trying tell her, as if shes never even seen one of these vacuums).
Anyway, she finally said that unless it's the WHOLE unit that doesn't work, she has to charge us for parts. I told her no way, we bought the vacuum 3 months ago, and it has a 7 year warranty. She basically said sorry, too bad, and offered us the part at half retail price plus shipping charges. After 30 minutes of arguing with a supervisor we finally got the part for only shipping costs as a ONE time courtesy. So, clearly no 7 year warranty. Our Dyson lasted 12 years, and was still working when we gave it away. This company is a joke!

Bought a Shark NV95 upright vacuum cleaner, very poor suction from day one. Cleaned the lines and emptied the dust collector, no help. Checked the technical help section on their website and followed all the recommended steps, no help. Called them up, told them the vacuum was only 4 months old, has no suction, and the switch on it (for carpet to bare floors) only worked for carpets and did nothing in bare floor mode. Not even lights came on. A woman stayed on the phone with me for 45 minutes while I went through all the procedures on the web page that I'd already done, to prove it still didn't work. Eventually they said I could send it back (on my dime) and they'd replace it. They took my credit card number to pay for the shipping, and told me they'd send me a shipping ticket (return goods authorization) for it. Never happened. Called a 2nd time and got less satisfaction from a rude customer service rep. Piece of junk, don't buy one.

My (wonderful) Electrolux is 23 years old and still in excellent condition. However, because my husband said it hurts his back to use it (canister), we decided to invest in an upright and decided on the Shark because I had read the (rave) reviews and my girlfriend said she has 3 Shark vacuums (she has a split level) and would never be without a Shark vacuum. So, in September 2016, we purchased the Shark Upright Lift-Away from the QVC Channel for $279, which included all the attachments including the roll-about caddy upon which you put the canister and which rolls around with you so that you don't have to hold the canister while you vacuum under beds, tables, etc.
This is one of the WORST vacuums I have ever used. Probably, because I was so used to a canister vacuum, I had a very hard time adjusting to the upright. Just vacuuming the kitchen and the bedroom, the sweat was pouring off of me even though I had the A/C on (we live in Florida). I had a terrible time maneuvering the power nozzle, however, now, after owning this vacuum for 2 years, I can maneuver it much better. When vacuuming the bathroom rugs with the power nozzle, it ate the rugs. (I later learned to use one of the brush attachments.)
Every time I "stretched out" to vacuum, the canister fell over (and it hurts when it hits the back of your leg). The hose DOES NOT STRETCH OUT and I have tried numerous times to try to stretch out the hose so that it will not curl back into a tight hose, but that doesn't work. Also, there is a ring going around the hose and I have tried to move the ring from the top of the hose (and handle) to the bottom of the hose to see if this would stretch out the hose, but the ring won't move. I had such a horrible time with this Shark, I called the company and asked them if they had classes on how to use it!! They gave me a Website to go on and view videos of how to use the various attachments, etc. Well, that was a waste of time because the man explaining what to do and how to use the vacuum had about as much enthusiasm and personality as a dead fish. There were about 5 videos and they were all useless.
If there is a speck of something, like a crumb, stuck to the floor, you have to use one of the rug settings so the beater brushes will (maybe) loosen it from the floor. Also, because the blower/suction is so powerful (a pro for this product), sometimes I find that instead of picking up the particle on the floor/rug, it blows it away - especially with dog hair. Taking the long handle out to use it with a brush attachment is relatively easy; however, when taking the short handle out, you have to have the strength of "The Rock" to pull it out. Sometimes, when I try to pull the short handle out, I pick up the whole vacuum cleaner.
Also, there are times I have to press the button to start the vacuum at least 3 or 4 times. I press the Start button, the vacuum turns on and then immediately turns off, so I have to do it again and again and again until it finally stays on... This also happens when turning the vacuum off. When vacuuming rug (area rug or scatter rug) to floor, there's no problem; however, when vacuuming floor to area or scatter rug, this vacuum gets stuck and does not easily slide onto the rug - you either have to lift the vacuum or shove (or pull) hard to get it onto the rug. The above are my "cons" for this vacuum. The "pros" for this vacuum are: The suction is excellent. The very long cord is a plus (just be careful because it can trip you if you're not careful). The light is also a plus, especially seeing dog fur on the floor and crumbs on the floor under the bottoms of cabinets.
After we purchased this Shark, I checked on the Electrolux vacuum cleaners. Yes, they were more expensive than this Shark vacuum cleaner, however, the reviews were (also) excellent and the newer Electrolux vacuums are very quiet. I still love my 23-year-old Electrolux and do use it occasionally. I'm glad that this Shark vacuum cleaner cannot talk because, even though I am more used to it, I still have issues with it (even after 2 years) and it is frustrating. I don't know if I'd ever own a Shark vacuum again. I sincerely believe that When this Shark stops working, I will definitely check out and probably purchase another Electrolux. We do have a Shark dustbuster, which is probably 10-12 years old and it is phenomenal. We certainly would purchase this item again. Possibly, my age (75) has something to do with my negativity towards this Shark vacuum, but I doubt it.

I like the Shark nv360 vacuum and its accessories, but dislike the dust cup design and low quality plastic latch hinges. The hinges crack and break off while I am cleaning the dust cup. After which the latches have to be taped to prevent the dirt/dust from leaking out while vacuuming. The way that the dust cup's 2 lids are hinged on same side makes it clumsy to wash. The canister/cup lids are hinged on with good quality and design hinges which should also be used for the dust cup latches that lock the dust cup to the vacuum system. I have had to replace the dust cup twice in three years since I purchased the vacuum new. That is three dust cups for one vacuum! I will give away my unit and buy another brand because of the dust cup lid design and breakage of dust cup latch hinges.
