Have a similar unit to the Navigator, the Rotator. Brush roller motor now faulting out within seconds after I activate it. Found the motor has gone bad after 1.5 years use. Called local vacuum repair shops and learned that repair parts can only be bought from Shark, and nowhere else. No local vacuum shops will repair Sharks. I called Shark to get the price of that little brush roller motor, which is super easy to access with just a single Phillips head screwdriver. Turns out they only sell the whole bottom section of the Rotator unit at appx $70 + tax + shipping.
The little internal motor is all I need but they don't want to sell just that component. I checked eBay and found that I can locate and buy the individual components by that method and save a lot of money. Keep it in mind. All the negative reviews found on this site about the Shark vacuum and after-the-sale support are something I will keep in mind for the future.

I received this vacuum as a gift 12 months ago and I actually have loved the product until now. The brush stopped rotating about a week ago and since then I have had terrible experience with this company's customer service. I have attempted many times to contact them via the internet and each time I had to sit on hold for over 30 minutes to be disconnected when I got to be #3 in queue. I finally got a 800# for customer service.
After the live chat couldn't help me only to be told that because we took the floor nozzle apart to figure out the switch was burnt up in it (tired of waiting to contact company), the warranty was void and they do not sell the switch we need so the best they could offer is a discounted price on a replacement vacuum. That price was $160 and the customer service rep was rude and unwilling to look into any other options. I ended up having to call back 2 more times and finally was offered a discounted price of $75 which to me is still unacceptable but at least it is better. You better believe I will be calling the 800# for corporate on Monday.

Last night I was at my local Goodwill and bought the Shark Pocket Mop. It was a brand new, sealed salvage item from Target. My local Goodwill carries many salvage items for Target. Most of the items are discontinued or slightly damaged that's why they're salvage items. When I got home I realized why it was a salvage item, the three pads were missing... No big deal I paid sixty dollars less I'll buy the pads... Today when I called to register my steam mop I was told the warranty would not be honored because it was bought at a place like Goodwill... The mop is brand new... It's the newest pocket mop on the market.
Regardless where the mop was bought one would think they'd stand behind their product... Useless ignorant customer rep kept insisting it was used and that's what I get for buying my mop at a place like Goodwill. Obviously this company will use any loophole to get out of honoring their warranty. This was my first encounter with customer care in the several years I've owned my two Shark vacuums and my Garnet steamer and it'll be my last. I'll never buy a Shark product again after today.

It's November and I bought the shark professional lift away last May. I paid $350 for the vacuum and all accessories, most of which you will never use. There is a little red plastic piece that is on the elbow that connects the hose to the vacuum. It broke. I called to order a new piece and I got the hose and handle in the mail. That took a little over a week. I called back and told that that was not what I needed and I was sent the elbow. That took again a little over a week. The elbow piece would have been great if it had had the little red connecting piece but it didn't. Turns out that piece is irreplaceable. How stupid is that.
So I was told I could send them the vacuum and they would try to fix it and send it back, both ways at my expense, or I could buy a new vacuum at cost. Now why would they say they would fix it if there is no replace part. All together it costs just as much for me to ship it both ways at to buy a new one without the three week waiting period. It cost me $66 +$19.99 to get a new one. What peeves me off is that I have to buy a new one just because they don't make a small replaceable part that probably would have cost all of $10. What happened to my warranty.

First Shark vacuum that we bought was Navigator Lift Away 5 years ago, the best vacuum cleaner ever. Gave it to our daughter when she moved out last year. She loves it, still works great. Then we needed a new vacuum and wanted only Shark. We bought a new Shark Rotator, model nv510 which came with a steam mop at Sam's Slub in September 2014. Little more heavier than Navigator but was performing great. Later my wife wanted something lighter, so we bought a Rocket which she loves it so much, Rotator we use in the basement.
A couple weeks ago power brush on it stopped working. I checked for clogs, but everything looked fine. Then I called Shark customer care and after talking to rep and explaining my problem he guided me how to reset a power brush but still wouldn't spin. After that he said there is no problem and that they will send a brand new vacuum cleaner. They even upgraded me for a higher model nv750w, old one I sent back and they also sent me a prepaid FedEx label. So what can I say about Shark? Best vacuum cleaners, best customer service. Thank you Shark, your very happy customer.

On the 22nd of September 2015, my 4 and a half year old daughter decided to help me out with the cleaning of the house so I suggested that she could do the vacuuming with the Shark Navigator. As I had no reason to be concerned with this as I had thought it was a simple task with just a vacuum cleaner, and she enjoyed helping me out, I let her proceed. After about 5 minutes, I heard the Shark make that noise it does when it has something big go up through the foot of it. Then a couple of seconds later, my daughter came in to where I was doing the dishes with a pale and sweaty face and her left hand shaking. After closer inspection I found 2 of her fingers ripped raw, swollen and bleeding. She was in agony, as you can expect with the damage.
She had later told me that something had got stuck in the foot of it and she attempted to get it out with her hand. The Shark has then spun her fingers around the rotating part and stripped her skin off 2 fingers and caused a fracture in one of those fingers. A week on from that and numerous visits to the doctors and medication she is still bandaged up and can't use that hand. This is a very dangerous thing that can happen to anyone. I believe there should be immediate action taken from the company to advise other parents the danger of the navigators.
My daughter now has a fear of the Shark Navigator. As soon as I start it up, she asks me to please not use it and won't go near it. It has been very traumatic for her and I, and very stressful with visits to the doctors every second day to get the dressings changed and put on antibiotics to stop the infection from getting worse.

I am trying to order a battery for shark SV800 which I bought about 5 or 6 years ago, only to be told "you don't make those anymore." When I asked what I can do, just throw it away? I was told yes or buy a new one. I liked this vacuum because it's light and easy to use. I am 87 yrs old and can't handle any big ones - also, I can't afford to buy a new one. The man I talked to made it very clear that he could care less what I do. I hope people are aware of the callus way you treat customers. I would never again buy anything from Shark. I cannot turn off the vacuum. Must unplug it. Then you can't turn it on. Call Shark and let them know that the unit is less the 60 days old. I was told that I could pay to ship it to and from them and they would look at it, OR I could purchase a new one at a discounted price. What kind of warranty is that. While I did like the vacuum, it's only good if it works. I should not have to get a new one every 60 days. I bought this thru Amazon, and while it had only 30 day return, Amazon waived this and took the purchase back. I will never deal with shark again.

Bought my 1st Shark vacuum beginning of last year. Lasted for about 6 months. Gave benefit of the doubt thinking It was just my "luck" and got a 2nd more expensive one. It's been 9 months and "surprise"! It doesn't work anymore. I called and they sent a replacement part that didn't fix the problem. Now my ONLY option is to PAY to send it back, wait 3-6 weeks for them to fix it and PAY AGAIN for them to send it back. They had the nerve to say "It's only ~$20 each way," so $40 or more out of my pocket not even after a year, and it's "COVERED" under the warranty!
I have a crawling baby, a toddler and 2 dogs! I HAVE to vacuum at least 4-5x a week! I cannot wait a month or more! Why would I want to keep spending $40-$50 every 6 months (that's approx. how long they last) when the vacuum was ~$200! Euro-Pro definitely puts money before their customers! What a waste of money!!!!!!! I should've listened to my friends and purchased a Dyson. It would've been cheaper at this point. Now, I have to run with my kids and get a new vacuum! Never again!

So I just got screwed by the warranty policy like so many others. The 2 clips that hold the dust canister in place broke, thin plastic is the only thing that holds the whole vacuum when you lift it with the handle. Anyway they are not screwed in place so the 50 cent plastic parts are not replaceable. Option one replace the entire vacuum for $60 and throw away the old one!!! What a wasteful world we live in. :/ Option 2 send it in for 6 to 8 weeks and pay $40 shipping and hope they can glue it up nice and tight. >:| I can't believe because 2 little plastic clips broke my entire vacuum is junk. I ordered a vacuum cleaner from a well-known US-based company Shark. The agent who took my order had difficulty comprehending what I meant by #2-then the street number followed by the street name. So I said, "Look, just put the street FIRST followed by the apartment number." Somehow, the agent managed to omit the word 'street'. The package arrives in Vancouver and is ALLEGEDLY sent out for delivery, and my tracking assures me it will be delivered on June 26. I stay at home, and when it does not arrive at end of day, I check the tracker. It says it was unable to deliver because the address was incorrect. Apparently the word 'street' was absent. But my address is one of the best known in the city, and there are only two possibilities, really: 'street' or 'avenue' and there's only ONE street in Vancouver with this name in any case.
So tell me, are your drivers certifiable morons, or did your driver look at the vacuum and thought, "That looks heavy. I'm going to leave this from someone else"? Am I pissed. I think I am! And what the hell would have happened if I hadn't checked the tracking? Would my property be returned to sender? Certainly no one called ME to tell me that the package couldn't be delivered. And what about the phone number that is part of the info I supplied when I ordered. Doesn't FedEx get this information? I order A LOT that is sent by courier service. I can't remember the last time I got a delivery from FedEx. I wonder why?

I feel the product was grossly oversold, we have very heavy carpets and this vacuum was very difficult to use. Instead of being easy to use, it took two hands to move it on carpet with a great deal of physical effort. I sent it back to company, they received it on 6-19-15, but today 6-26-15 they said it would be at least an additional 49 hours till I would receive my refund. I was in sales for 30 years, never charged tax on freight, but Shark does. Consumers need to be aware.. This company has Shark Like policies, overstating the product and dragging their feet when it comes to refunding consumers their money.

It's been about a week now that the brush stopped rotating. I followed the manual and did everything that was suggested. However, the brush still would not rotate. I called the chat line on Shark website and talked with a person named **. She said that my warranty was up already and I would have to call their consumer department. Purchased vacuum and within two months, the roller brush would not rotate. They diagnosed the problem over the phone and sent me a new brush attachment for free. The new one did not work either. I called and they said under my warranty (a five-year warranty, of which only 3 months had lapsed) that I could either return the vacuum, with me paying the shipping both ways, and they would attempt to repair in 4 to 6 weeks or I could pay a pro-rata cost for a new vacuum, in which case I would receive it within 3 business days. The cost was approximately 1/3 of what I paid for the vacuum just three months before. I have never heard of a warranty on a major appliance that required you to pay a pro-rated cost within 3 months of purchase. I spoke to a supervisor and he kept repeating this was their warranty policy and he could do nothing.

I bought a Shark Navigator at the end of February. Its power brush roller stopped working in the end of May. I called Shark and they sent me a new brush roller. The new roller did not work either. I called them back and they suggested I take the whole thing back to Walmart where I bought it. Walmart will not take it back because it's outside of their 90 day return policy. Now Shark either wants me to buy a new vacuum from them at a reduced price (not sure how much) or pay to ship the vacuum to them to have them fix it. I wouldn't get the vacuum back for a month or so. I don't like either option!
This is a not even 4 month old vacuum. I'm not willing to pay anything to get a 4 month old vacuum fixed. I had my old Dyson for 10 years and never had a problem with it until the very end when I bought my Shark. Now the customer service manager tells me I have to pay to ship it and I will be without a vacuum for 3-5 weeks. Unacceptable customer service in my opinion!

With the floor attachment the hose stretches and retracts so when you stop pulling it, it hits your heels. This is painful if wearing sandals and in the south I always wear sandals. In addition the wheels on the floor attachment came off and would not stay on. If removed the head becomes detached from the wand. This was after only a few months of use. Also could not figure out how to assemble for carpet cleaning so that it was higher than only a few feet tall. A real pain to pull off the floor attachment from the wand. Has to be twisted with a lot of force. Between the negative experiences with customer service written about Shark and very poor design I would not recommend this vacuum.

I bought my Shark Rotator in Feb 2015. The brush stopped spinning and there's no clicking noise when I put it in park. So after looking it up I thought maybe my belt broke so I took the top off and the belt was fine. Called Shark and they voided my warranty after only 4 months because I took screws out. Are you kidding me??? I said that's BS because in order to clean the plastic guard or check the belt you have to take the top off and they said they don't allow you to change the belt. That they just send you a replacement head. I said that is the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard cause every vacuum I've ever owned I've replaced belts on before. They absolutely refuse to help me and no repair shop will work on it cause it's junk. I only need the connector that clicks replaced.
Repair shops say Sharks are throw away crap vacuums. I own the vacuum and the Shark Duo to clean floors. I'm so beyond mad right now. I don't have money to throw away. I'm a single mom with 3 kids and I will NEVER buy a Shark again and I will make sure no one in my family buys one. My wonderful Dyson was getting old and I watched late night TV with the CEO of Shark raving about his machine. It was so much cheaper than buying a new Dyson, so I thought, "Why not?" He said it had better suction than the Dyson, so I thought I'd give it a try. After using it for nearly two weeks, the suction was gone. I was having a party and needed to vacuum but it didn't work. My Dyson was on its last legs but did the job perfectly. What a disappointment. I will write them a letter of complaint, but from what I understand their customer service leaves much to be desired. I'm getting the Dyson repaired and will only buy Dyson products in the future.
PS: The vacuum is so much cheaper because it does not have any weight to it and even feels as if it is cheap. Awful product.

Caution -- Don't be fooled by the countless amount of "ratings" and "review" sites raving about this cheap vacuum. Once you begin to actually read the review, it's obvious these are paid marketeers whose sole purpose is to get you to buy this inferior product. We purchased one 1 1/2 years ago and it just stopped working yesterday. So, I called the manufacturer since it's in the warranty period. They of course would attempt to repair it (or replace, if irreparable). All I had to do was pay the $20.00+ shipping to the repair facility AND the $20.00+ to get it back!
So, on top of the $140.00 I paid for this thing, I now have to pay another $40.00 every 18 months to keep it working? No thank you. I think I'll just throw this junk away and learn the lesson -- you get what you pay for. I would be totally willing to have paid one way, but both? They know they are selling junk and that's why they do it.

Unfortunately what I got is just a very poor response. I'm very unsatified with my Shark vacuum and the customer service.

My review is about the quality of the Shark vacuum in general. It is a poor product. The suction is excellent and the vacuum is lightweight. But the head (is that what it's called?) is too big/tall so it doesn't fit underneath anything like the couch, low cabinets and maybe not even under a low platform/futon type bed. After fewer than 6 months of use, the hose cracked and got tears between the spirals since it is made of poor quality plastic. Customer representative said that hose is not under any type of warranty because they consider that type of damage the result of normal wear and tear. They should consider using a stronger material, since it is the extension-reaching part of the vacuum and is, yes, used very frequently. I eventually dumped it after only 2 years and several taped up jobs later. Put your $110 towards a slightly higher end vacuum that is made of better materials.

I called for a replacement part in January, they told me 3 weeks. No follow-up call. Three weeks came and went. Then I was told 6 weeks. 6 weeks came and went, now here we are in March and the new "real confirmed" date is April 8th?! The customer agent said "sorry, nothing we can do, there was a union strike and that delayed the parts." Completely unacceptable. When I had the Dyson I got my parts within days, no hassles. Never buying Shark again!!

I purchased a Shark Navigator Professional Series vacuum in December 2013. It is now March 2015 and the brush stopped working. This is not a belt issue. There's a switch in the beater brush assembly that fails and needs to be ordered online. I had a Hoover for YEARS and the only thing I ever needed to replace was the brush unit belt... and that was about 5 years after I purchased it. Really Shark? Only 15 months since I purchased your product and I already need to repair the electronics? Folks... don't waste your money on this product.

I called and ordered the Shark Powered Lift-Away on the 2nd of this month and all went just fine. I even got an email telling me how to track my new Shark so a day later, I looked to see if it had shipped yet suspecting that they couldn't move that fast but I was still interested to see. I went to the site to track my Shark and it was back ordered, so I called to ask why and I was told that it was because they were out of stock. I told the lady that I wished I had known that when I ordered and asked when it would be shipped, and she told me that we're expecting the next shipment to be around the 26th of this month (March). And I asked how long it would be until it ships after they receive it, and they said 3 to 5 business days.
I thought they might have a few put back for people like me who would say "well if I had known, I wouldn't have ordered it". Well they don't, but the lady said she would gladly cancel my order for me and she did, so that was nice. Also, they only held my credit card approval for 1 day. The lady told me that they wouldn't re-authorize my card until it shipped since it was back ordered and that too was good.
My review is to alert anyone who orders to be warned that yours too might be back ordered and they do not tell you in advance; only if you go online to check the status the next day will you know it. They will cancel your order with no trouble too. I will not have a Shark, but I must say, the customer service is good and that's the reason they only got 3 stars.

I am amazed every time I use my Shark Navigator by the amount of dust and dirt it picks up from what I think to be a clean carpet. I bought one for myself and talked my father in law into purchasing one for their home as well and he is amazed when I clean his house weekly at just how much stuff ends up in the canister. I love the way the head swivels to easily get under furniture and the ease of use. Also, love the fact that I can lift off the canister and carry it with the tools to get in hard to reach places. I could do my own info commercial on this product. In fact, I bought a 2nd one that I'm keeping in the box just in case something goes wrong with my first one.

I loved my Shark. It really picked up the dirt deep in the carpet. I know because it took no time to fill up the canister. The Shark began to give me electrical shocks and I really thought maybe it had something to do with static in the air but it got worse. I had to be careful where I touched the vacuum when vacuuming. Then one day it stopped shocking me - the same day the roller brush stopped working. I have contacted the company with no response. I owned my vacuum for only 3 months. This is the first expensive vacuum I have owned and what a waste of money. I will return to buying less expensive vacuums. Would rather have 3 $60.00 vacuums than one good one that is defective. Wish I had kept the receipt.

My husband and I purchased a Shark Navigator Lift-Away Pro, Model Number NV355 approximately nine months ago. Within only a few months, the brush roll began to rattle and even when completely cleaned, the vacuum would only work on carpets for a few minutes. I called on January 7th to use the warranty to replace or repair the unit. I was notified at the time that my only two options were to either spend an additional $100 for a new vacuum, or pay nearly that same amount in shipping and handling for the vacuum to be sent to the ONLY repair location in the country, California. My husband and I are both military, and money is extremely tight. I fail to see the value of a warranty that penalizes customers after less than a year of owning a vacuum that DOES NOT WORK.
I voiced my concerns to the phone operator, Julianne, and requested to speak to a manager. Julianne notified me that there were no managers currently working, which I found incredibly difficult to believe. I then requested to speak with a District Manager. Julianne again stated that not only could she not connect me with that individual, but she did not even have their information. She told me that I would be contacted by a manager within 24-48 hours. I waited over five days before hearing anything, receiving a voice mail during a family emergency.
After settling our family affairs, I called the number back on January 29th, and was told that the same manager, (Sarah), who attempted to contact me in Mid-January was currently coming back from lunch and that I would have to hang up and she would call me back in 5-10 minutes. While someone did call back, I was unable to reach the phone. I called back immediately and was notified by another phone representative that they had absolutely no idea who Sarah was, that there were no managers currently working, there was no method for telephone operators to transfer a call to a manager, and that I would have to hang up and wait another 24-48 hours for a manager to get in contact with me.
I would like to state that this is the absolute WORST business model I have EVER heard of concerning customer support. The point of a customer like myself calling implies that this is the time they are available to talk about the problem they are having, being forced to wait for an arbitrary phone call that may or may not even happen implies that Shark does not care about their customers or their integrity. Being told several times that there were no managers currently working, and even if they were working, the phone representatives have no method of getting in contact with them alerts me to the possibility that Shark may not be operating within the standards of federal law. Not only is the Shark vacuum the worst vacuum I have ever bought, but its warranty is worthless and calling the customer help line is an exercise in futility. DO NOT BUY FROM THIS COMPANY, YOU WILL REGRET IT!

I had a shark navigator. It was only a couple years old. I found it had a 5 year warranty. Something inside broke (I could hear it rattling); it's the 'kickstand' feature that allow the vacc to 'click into place' and (for lack of a better description), pop a wheelie so you can wheel it around. The bottom part (called the power nozzle) just kind of flopped off the end of the unit. You have to pick the whole thing up to move from room to room. So... trying to first take care of it myself (rather than, I presumed, ship it somewhere and leave me without a vacc for x# of days), I brought it to my local vacc repair shop. They couldn't fix it but showed me the part that had cracked, and advised me to contact the manufacturer for repair. So I called... and (trying to be helpful) told them I knew what was wrong with it - I had saved them some time and brought it somewhere. DEAD SILENCE.
"You what???" "I brought it to a vacc place". "Well - you just voided your warranty." WTF? I said "are you kidding," he said NO. Seriously??? I said "well let's pretend this conversation didn't happen and I'll call back." No can do. BOY this 'helpful agent' (not) was being really hard-nosed. Bottom line: they would not honor the warranty! Merely because I did some advance legwork. They offered to sell me a replacement (probably refurbished), for $29.99. NO THANK YOU.
A few months later my niece had the same problem with hers (bought around the same time). I said "don't take it anywhere" so she didn't. She called and reported it. After a long conversation the 'helpful agent' said "I'll just send you a whole new unit." A new vacuum? YES! (she figured by now there were lots of people complaining about this). The box arrived. The co. only sent a POWER NOZZLE! She called the company and they refused to honor the promise made by the agent. They said "we don't send new vacuums out for free" (but this is to replace their defective unit!).
They offered to sell her a new one at a reduced price - $70 or so. This was a classic bait and switch. (don't they realize there is more to lose, by not honoring what the agent promised to do? If they'd sent a new vacc we would both be singing their praises, I would be writing a glowing review... instead of me writing this novel).
So she is stuck with just the new brush attachment. IN ADDITION TO THIS, this company is NOT reachable by email, you can't reply back to the transaction receipts they send, and the 'live chat' is worthless when the person/robot you are live-chatting with... keeps referring you to their 800 number. I will not be buying another one of their products and neither will my niece.

I ordered the Shark Rotator Power Lift-away vacuum online directly from Shark on 1/15/15. I immediately received an email stating my order was on backorder with no estimate for delivery given. Today almost two weeks later I called phone number in my email, was only able to use the automated system still on backorder with no estimated delivery date. I tried several times to speak to a human but my call would somehow always end before I was connected.
Meanwhile I continue to see the infomercials on TV several times every day. I called the number to order and the saleslady had no knowledge of the backorder situation, as far as she knew the product was available. I told her I had been unable to speak to anyone when I called the customer service number so she offered to connect me, same problem I was never connected to a human, grrr! I finally used the live chat link from my email and after a lengthy wait an agent came online. I asked her if I made an order by phone and canceled my online order if I would get it sooner. She said, no it would be on backorder either way. She estimated my order would ship in 4-6 weeks!
I have not been charged any money as I paid through PayPal and won't be charged until it ships, thank goodness. Most website tell you upfront if a product is on backorder. It seems unethical to keep taking orders that won't be filled for that long without telling the customer upfront. Anyone considering ordering this should be warned you may be waiting to get your order for much longer than when you order from most companies.

My first review of the product was favorable...my review of the customer service to initiated the repair of my Shark Navigator, not so much.
After trying to find something to send in my entire vacuum and making a box for shipping it, and paying the shipping and insurance through UPS, all else went well.
A little more than a month later I did receive a brand new Shark Navigator Lift Away. What an awesome, little vacuum. With 3 shedding cats and a dog it really gets a workout. It gets used at least 4 times a week and cleans corners, furniture, bathrooms, and is so versatile it makes cleaning very easy with the lift-off components and attachments. Thanks for standing by your product. Very satisfied.

CUSTOMER SERVICE.... First attempt: I was attempting to acquire the mailing address to send in my Shark vacuum for repair. The power head stopped working and was informed I needed to send in the entire unit. Try and find a box to ship, what fun and 36 dollar shipment.
I was assisted (She was Okay) and was told I needed to call customer service. The phone number I was given by the live chat person at about 1:30 MST (Amanda??) connected me to (1 800 798-7398) a national directory. After several minutes with her, I was transferred to C/S. A person named Valerie answered and I explained that I needed the address to send in my Shark vacuum for repair. With sub-standard phone connection I was able to get a partial address after several attempts. EURO something @ one something genesis way.
When I asked Valerie if she could send me the address via the email address I just gave her, she disconnected the call without an answer. After waiting for about 30 minutes for an email, I again attempted the live chat session to address my issue. I was third in line and after several minutes, I was connected with Julie. As I was typing in my request, my session was terminated. So far very lousy customer service over all.
I accessed Live Chat again (about 2:30 MST) and spoke with Jory. I explained I needed the address to send in my Shark Vacuum for repair. The person at Customer Service (Valerie) was not very helpful at all. I was able to get a partial address; EURO something at one something Genesis Way, Spring Pine, NC.28777. I do not understand why they cannot credit my account for the $389.50 and then charge me the monthly installments as promised. Unfortunately I did not read the customer reviews prior to my purchase. This was clearly a mistake made by Shark and not by me when the order was taken. It was also clear that the order taker over the phone told me I would be charged the first monthly installment prior to the back and being shipped so it was clear I was supposed to be charge monthly installments and not the lump sum. It was the most powerful vacuum I'd ever had, in terms of lifting dirt and dog hair out of old wall-to-wall carpets. It beat my more expensive Dyson. It was fun while it lasted. After two months of very light use (once or twice a week), the carpet brush function died. Only the red indicator came on, and there was no suction. I have cleaned the filters many times and also cleaned the carpet brushes, to no avail. I just used the vacuum on a hard surface, and all of the dog hair got caught up in the brushes; it was never sucked into the container. I am very disappointed and would never buy another Shark again. I will be contacting Shark for a refund.

We bought 2 Shark vacuum cleaners both have hit the dust in 2 years. Either buy really cheap or go better. Cheaper in long run. My 500.00 Riccar lasted 20 years. My 70.00 vacuum, don't remember the brand, lasted a while; got rid of it before it didn't work. The 2 Sharks that were a few amount of money are really bad. Yay, just before guests I can't vacuum - no suction. Maybe I did something wrong who knows, but a vacuum cleaner shouldn't be complicated. I took the little hose off to clean a corner. When I tried to put back on wouldn't stay and no suction on the end - tried and tried. I had done the same thing for the 2 years I had it. Whatever, don't buy Shark.

I can't believe how much pain I am on the 4th of July. I was cleaning the house up for the holiday weekend and was using the wand for the corners. The vacuum fell over and as I was trying to avoid getting hit, I tripped over the darn thing. I got hit in the leg, aggravated my ACL injury, sciatic nerve is inflamed to the point of extreme pain. I also have a sprained foot. This thing has fallen over so many times with little tension on the hose. I have so many dings in my floor and prior bruises on my body. Was this not tested for counter weight balance? The hose should be more flexible as to not pull the whole vacuum over. Instead of sending me a steam mop when I purchased this, they should have provided me with protective gear while using. I'm not happy for all this pain and suffering. I should be compensated with a new cleaner that is safer, easy to use and doesn't physically attack me. So much for mowing my lawn and preparing for the weekend. Thanks

On 5/16/2014 after reading good reviews at Amazon and watching the Rotator Lift Off infomercial I call the number (by the way I recorded two if the infomercials on different channels for the same vacuum and offer but with different phone numbers). I was told that there was a shipping charge for each of the so called free accessories. So the $199.00 offer would turn out to be $280.49. The person told me that it would arrive within five to seven business days. Even though I live in Hawaii. Well I knew better than this because shipping to Hawaii always takes a few more days.
After completing the order for the vacuum the sales person proceeded to offer to sell me other unrelated offers, Magazines and online memberships to be charged to the same debit card. Each offer included a free Walmart gift card for 20 to 50 dollars even if I choose to cancel the offers. These offers required me to provide the same debit card information as with the vacuum. I received an email in a few days confirming shipment. The estimated arrival date was between 5/23 and 5/26/2014. There was supposed to be a tracking number but no number was present.
On 5/25 I called the number provided in the email and asked about the absent tracking number. The person told me that because I lived in Hawaii there was no tracking number. And that the order would take 3 to 12 weeks to arrive because it was being shipped via an unknown to him shipper on a boat. I have lived in Hawaii more than ten years and have shipped and received hundreds of items. There is only three ways singular items are shipped. USPS, UPS or FEDEX. You cannot ship something via ship or boat unless it is a large item like a pallet or full container. And even then there is a shipper name and some type of tracking system.
After 20 minutes run around I asked to cancel the entire order. I was informed that they could not do so because the items had already shipped. So I asked to speak to a supervisor. I was told that someone would call me within 48 hours. No call came within 48 hours so I called back. This person told me that the first person had lied to me and that it would be only 3 to 4 weeks until arrival of my order but that there still was no way to track it because they did not know what the shipping method was. I explained to this person about the shipping methods to Hawaii were and asked why I was charged for express shipping if it was being sent "not express." She had no answer. I again demanded to speak to a supervisor. And again I was told that I would receive a call within 48 hours.
After hanging up I called the phone number provided for the magazine offer and it seemed legitimate. It comes with a $50 gift card for Walmart or my choice of a few other stores. Then I called the number for the other two offers and the person provided me with web address for both companies. They turned out to be the same company. I went to the site and it required me to join by supplying them with my email address as well as my last name. I had to create a user name and password to get to the main website. When I attempted to log in I found that there was no such web address or page.
I looked at Yahoo about the company and found nothing but complaints that the site was bogus and that the fake company was making charges to customers' cards for services not received. I called my bank and put a hold on my card. So far no Shark and no call from a supervisor. They charged $120.00 to my card and would take another 3 payments of $57 over the next 3 months. But I'll prevent that from happening if I have to close the bank account. Only after I have received the vacuum and All the extras and I'm happy with it will I allow them to receive any further payments. And If I do not get the vacuum I will file with my bank for a chargeback.
If what I've read on this site is any indication this company is going to be in the sights of the federal consumer affairs soon. Poor or non-existent customer service and defective products like this should result in steep fines and a prohibition of product sales. Why don't our government agencies jump on this type thing faster. We need a law firm to get involved and bring a class action against Euro-Pro and Shark NOW.

I currently own a Shark Cordless 12-Volt Hand Vac that was purchased in 2009. Last week, my husband and I noticed smoke and a terrible smell in our house. We discovered it was the Shark Vac that was burning. I had plugged it in to charge, and the unit itself (not the plug or outlet) was burning and melting right where the button is to turn it on. Thank goodness we were home because only a few short hours later, I went into labor and would not have been home to prevent anything from happening.
I contacted Shark customer service on 6/16/14 and told them what happened. I was shocked to hear what they told me my options were. Really there was only one option: pay $38 to replace the unit. The customer service agent said that since it was outside the warranty period, there was nothing else I could do. When I asked to speak to someone else, she would not put me on with anyone else. I told her I would gladly mail her the unit so they could see what went wrong, and she was not interested. I said to her that to me, no matter how long you have something, it should not catch on fire. She asked me if there was any personal or property damage. I said no, but there could have been had this happened a few hours later, and she told me there is nothing she can do.
I would think that this company would want the unit back so that they can see if there needs to be a recall on this particular model and year. I am so distraught about this whole situation. I cannot stop thinking about what could have happened if we were not home. I still have the vac in my garage and it still smells like burnt plastic. With all the house fires occurring lately, I would like to think that companies would want to ensure the safety of their customers and families.

I have purchased 3 Shark products in the past 2 years. I bought the navigator vacuum which broke in 2 months. The latches for the container are not a in a convenient spot and therefore if you are in a tight space you can bid farewell to the latch. The hose is the worse hose on any vacuum I have ever had. It is so rigid and tight that after 2 months it cracked and I loss suction on a vacuum that claims to "never lose suction". I called the company since this vacuum was 189.00, and they wanted us to pay to have it shipped. I took it to a local repair shop and they do not repair Sharks. So we used duct tape!
Then we bought the Shark Steam Mop and used purified water as stated in the instructions, only to have the mop clog overheat and spray boiling water on my left and just missed my 2 year old (only after 4 months). I called Customer Service and they told me to send the mop to them ASAP and not to have my children near me when I mop. Apparently they don't know 2 year olds. They sent me a new mop and 5 month with purified water and it clogged again..I am just done with this company..Waste of Money!

Also the plastic clip to hold the dust catcher broke. I asked for a new belt and they don't sell them?? 2nd one - I only had this one for 6 months and the switch went out again for the carpet. Its back to sending it back to them & $20.00 return Postage.
I'm not happy because now I've spent over $300.00 in two years. I also bought extra Filters the first time. You can't buy at Walmart for accessories, you have to order direct from Shark, that's more postage again.. Now I have two broken vacuums & I will never buy another shark. When it works, I loved the power it has.. That why I bought the 2nd one. I just sent a e-mail to them on 4-20-14 stating I want a new one shipped to Walmart. I have never ever submitted a review on a product or service before this one. I hate this excuse for a vacuum cleaner. I actually despise this thing. I am not stupid, but you almost have to be an engineer to figure out how to put it together and how to use it. Once you have that accomplished your job is to watch it break. I tried to be patient. I accepted the fact that the thing was mine. I tried to use it just for the stairs. The belt broke almost immediately. I didn't give up. I tried to use the main vacuum on the floors. Guess what? The rotators quit working. I threw the thing into the garage so I wouldn't have to look at it. I bought a $100.00 vacuum. Is it great? No, but at least I can vacuum the floor without it breaking. In closing allow me to say, "I will never ever buy another Shark product. I hate this thing."

How can I rate customer service when they have none!? All started about 2:00 pm on March 31st, 2014 when I attempted to get some assistance with my Shark vacuum cleaner. I had never used the feature of using the hose with wands since I'd had the unit and the first time I tried it didn't work. The first time I called I got someone trying to sell me gift cards. When I refused this offer they hung up! Obviously I dialed a wrong number so I called back. El wrongo, I had not dialed a wrong number that I had googled for Shark Customer Service, so obviously I got hung up again. Okay then, let's look up another number for customer service. Aha, another number. Called that number and they asked for my last name which I gave, my first name which I gave, and then they repeated it back, "** with a street address of ** and a phone number of **,” and then of course they hung up! Voila, online chat.
I have tried this very successfully with several companies. Well, either their service rep gets no designation that someone is typing, which they certainly should since the customer gets a designation the rep is typing. Well, apparently, either the customer rep felt I was taking too long to type or I had hung up she took the easy way out and hung up on me. Still not dismayed I found another number to call. After all the prompts, I was, I thought with the correct person. After explaining my problem to her she went through, with me, many possible solutions. Unfortunately, none of them were successful. I should probably mention that I have had my "Shark" vacuum cleaner for very close to 4 months. Well, it was covered by warranty but since it's a 3rd party sale I would need to not only pay for the return shipping, she actually expected me to give her my credit card number! Not gonna happen.
So, not only am I going on every message board on this planet (thank God for copy and paste) I have looked into that one way flight to Mars in forthcoming years that they are looking for volunteers to find one of those volunteers to spread the word among all that are going, people who sign up for the trip as years go by, and just in case if there are any inhabitants already there, that as far as I am concerned the "Shark" customer service department is worse than being in a kiddie pool with a real shark. I entreat anyone who reads my review to do as I am planning and copy and paste it anywhere you can think of. I do mean everywhere. If they build something on the top of Mt. Everest and it has any kind of flooring no way should they get a "Shark" unless they are absolutely positive they won't need customer service. If they wanted $19.95 from me to send it back for warranty work, one can only imagine what it would cost from Everest.

What is frustrating about Shark vacuums is that once you purchase a Shark vacuum-there is no customer support. You have to buy all parts & accessories directly from Shark's website. Once a vendor sells you a shark vacuum, they are unable to offer anything else because Shark does not allow them to. You can go to Walmart, Target, Bed Bath & Beyond-etc. I wanted a spare filter for my Rotator Lift away--the ONLY way you can purchase any part or accessory is directly from Shark. They let stores sell the vacuums but they do allow those same stores to carry & sell any parts or accessories.
Shark customer service is horrible. I called their tech line & the representative could not even help me with a simple question about a crevice tool. Then one day when I was on the Shark website-I found some awesome YouTube videos. The videos demonstrate everything you need to know about the rotator. Not once has a customer service rep even mentioned these most helpful videos. Shark needs to back up their products instead and just selling them. I am reluctant to pay more money for a replacement hose that will just tear again. The vacuum also falls over repeatedly while in use and is very heavy when it falls on you. You must hold the vacuum at the top handle while vacuuming to keep the vacuum from falling on you & to prevent it from falling and damaging furniture. I purchased the Shark Navigator from the television sales commercial. Delivery was slower than promised. I have not had the time to explore all that it can do but will state it is a super duper flat floor and carpet vacuum. The instructions say to remove contents at the canister's mid level and this is where I am disappointed with the Shark Navigator. The canister is easy enough to remove but its contents prefer to clump up and/or pack in places that will not simply drop out. I have to carry it outside the house and dump the contents into a large paper bag to control the dust from applying to me.
The Shark Navigator has great suction power and I hope I do not experience flames and burnouts as learned from other complaints registered here. I wish the designer paid more attention to the cleanup. It takes longer to do what should be done after use than it takes to vacuum. It needs a canister designed to dump without the use of plastic gloves, a long thin artist paint brush and a trip out to the patio followed by a shower to cleanup after properly cleaning the Shark Navigator.

I spoke with the only manager that there is, and he said that he is sorry that his customer staff lied to me about the time frame but there is nothing he can do for me. Now, I have to wait another 5 to 7 days for my vacuum, that I paid over $250.00 for, with priority shipping. After 20 minutes on the phone with this gentleman, Carlos, he hung up on me because he didn't want to hear it anymore. Please help.

On May 25, 2010, I ordered the Shark Navigator vacuum that has been on the infomercials. I received it and started using it right away. I did not have it for one month when it quit working. I called the customer service number. Together, over the phone we did some trouble-shooting. It was determined that the power nozzle, the main part of the vacuum, was the problem. At first, they wanted to charge me $99.99 for this new part. I told them it was supposed to be under warranty for five years.
Then, I was told that I would be receiving this new part free of charge. That part was ordered on June 30, 2010. It is now the middle of August, and still no part. I have called the customer service number at least three more times, only to be told that this part is back-ordered and that I am now on a waiting list. I asked to speak to a supervisor but there is never anyone else to speak to. This is obviously nothing but a call center in another country. I want to speak to someone who can help me. I have been without a vacuum now for two months. I cannot afford to buy another one. Can someone please help?

On May 16, 2010, I ordered the Shark Navigator vacuum cleaner from an infomercial on TV and the infomercial "special" was a free Shark steam floor cleaner. The vacuum cleaner was shipped on 5/18/10 and I received the vacuum cleaner. On 5/18/10, I also received an email that the steam floor cleaner was backordered.
Early July, I called the customer service number and was told it was shipped via U.S. Postal Service on June 11. They could not provide any tracking information. I asked to speak to a supervisor so I could call the shipper in the United States for more information. This was not available and he asked me to wait a little longer. It is now nearly the end of July and no steam cleaner. The customer service response is not really customer service. It’s more of an answering service, which is located outside the US and with little or no information to track shipments/deliveries or provide customer service. Where do you go from here?
The incentive to buy the Navigator vacuum rather than others, which also have infomercials, was getting the additional appliance. But I have not received it and cannot get any substantial information from customer service. They only confirmed my order and claimed the backorder was shipped, but cannot provide any verification of shipment and I have not received it.

In September '08, I bought a Euro-Pro Shark Vacuum from an infomercial for $108. They said you could try it for 30 days and return it if not satisfied for full refund. Okay, it was a cute little thing but it didn't pick up pet hair so I called them to tell them I was sending it back. They gave me a number to put on the outside of the package for return, which I did put on. I then sent it back UPS. I printed from the Internet the receipt that the package was received by **, Chico California on September 29. Okay, good. Now, in November, I see that my credit card still has the $108 charge on it. I called the vacuum people back and they said they never received it. Well, I said, "I have the receipt and it was received by ** on 9/29." He hesitated and mumbled that the charge would be removed immediately.
In December, it was still there. I called the credit card company which started a dispute of the charge. I faxed the bank all my paperwork including the signed receipt. Well, In February, the bank said the vacuum company was still saying they did not receive the package even though we have the name of the receiver! The bank said they would continue with the dispute. Now, it's April and the $108 is again appearing on our bill. What the heck! I called today and demanded to know why that was. They told me ... and you aren't going to believe this ... I have to pay it because the company said they didn't receive it. So, evidently, receipts with signed proof mean absolutely nothing! I told the bank person that I refuse to pay it and then she told me, "Then you will get a $35 late charge for every month you don't pay it and still have to pay the full amount of $108."
So now we have to pay for something we don't even have. I, then, called our local TV station that has Call 4 Action and the vacuum company hung up on her too. Finally, I got my bank to eat the charges but it makes me mad that a company would blatantly cheat someone like that. I know for a fact that the company sells the returned vacs online as used for cheaper than the new ones. What a racket. I would advise anyone to only buy their product in a store that takes returns. But isn't this fraud? Why bother to pay the extra money to get a signed receipt if it means absolutely nothing?
