I purchased a home warranty from Select Home Warranty on 3/11/14. After everything was said and done, the representative that sold me the warranty over the phone told me that everything was complete and that everything listed on my warranty was now covered, 3/30/14. 19 days later, one of my heating elements burned out in my oven. I called Select Home Warranty to report it the same day it happened. It took them 27 minutes to answer the phone and then after taking my information, I was told that a supervisor would be getting back in touch with me. That never happened. I called them back the next day and was told that they would not be able to repair my oven because in the contract, it states warranty coverage will begin 30 days after receipt of all outstanding payments (They Got My Money on 3/11/14). This is my third home warranty company that I have used and the first one to have this sort of restriction in their contract so they got me. Would have been nice of their representative to mention that little tidbit of very important information. Long story short, they will leave information out when trying to sell you their product. Read your contract first. I should have read the contract closer but they were misleading by telling me that everything was a go and that all was covered.

I have never been this unsatisfied with a company before and this is the first time I have ever felt the need to let people know that they make their company sound so good until you have issues go wrong. When we spoke to Adam ** the first time he was very polite while trying to sell us and informing us everything was covered from appliances to heating and air. When we had an issue Adam was EXTREMELY rude. The first time we needed to use our warranty, our hot water tank burst, they sent a repairman right out. When he got here, they wouldn't take his word for it and wanted pictures to review the claim. We never heard back from them and had to replace the hot water tank ourselves.
When our dryer went out, of course, it wasn't covered either. The second time our dryer went out, we called to see if the heating element would be covered and they said it was humanly impossible to answer that question. They said they scheduled a repairman to come out and sent an email with the repairman's name and number. After no one showed up, we contacted the repairman and they had no record of the claim from Select Home Warranty. Again we fixed it ourselves. This is the worst company I have ever dealt with and the worst money I have ever spent. If Adam ** is to contact you about a home warranty by Select, no matter how good the price, move on because the service SUCKS!!!!!!!!

Everything’s been fine with Select. The only problem that I can see is the fact that no one can do anything until they get an okay from Select Home Warranty. The contractor could not do what he needed to do until he'd gotten the okay from Select Home Warranty so that kinda tied us up a little bit but not much.

It was easy to process a claim at Select Home Warranty except for... they assigned it to a contractor who never did call me or get a hold of me but I called back after three days or whatever that I was supposed to wait and they sent somebody else out. They showed up the next day so it was really seamless. Everybody at Select was great. Having Select saved me some money and it were could’ve saved me more in the long run but it was just the nature of the problem, it didn't require it. They were great. Good service.

I've had home warranty in the past and I just thought it'd be easier to do something that way than have a really big repair bill if something were to happen. I had American Home Shield in the past and it was less expensive as far as the premium, so I chose it over the others. They did respond when I called in for a service. Sometimes you feel like you need someone out immediately. It was a couple of days before someone was able to come out. I don't know if I'm real happy with that particular way. Now, that may just be part of it.

I had this policy about 11 months when our washer failed. Select sent a repair co. out and the estimate to repair was more than to replace. I called the claims dept and was told by Sam to go out and purchase a new washer. I told him I was uncomfortable doing that without a dollar amount or a purchase order or something that would give me some idea of the reimbursement amount. He said just go buy another one and send in the receipt. I was impressed, I should have known better. Since we had a Whirlpool Duet front loading unit that is what we bought. In this company's advertising they describe situations where an appliance could cost a loss of anywhere from $500 to $1300. The impression is that they will step in and prevent the loss. What they don't tell you is that there is a $500.00 cap in the back of the policy.
So I sent in the receipt and they offered me $150.00 which was unacceptable to say the least since my receipt was for $995.00 plus tax and $200.00 for the pedestal plus tax. They then called and said they were excited that they had good news and offered me $350.00. They then informed me that the appliance cap for any claim was $500.00. I prepaid the premium for three years. These people are deceptive to say the least. Save yourself the aggravation and buy from some other company like American Home Shield!

I chose Select Home Warranty because of the deductible and their coverage services. I now live in Boston but I transferred out in the military and my daughter is occupying the house back in so it's just a better fit to have home warranty service. It's cheaper to do that than it is to drive back and make a referral. I've had them since October and so far the experience is good. The contractor that they sent out for the one repair, the plumber only did half the job but that's not on Select Home Warranty, that's on the actual provider. I'd recommend Select to anyone.

He came in and it worked for several hours and then it didn't work again, so we called the company that we normally deal with. We're really not happy.

My policy with Select Home Warranty went active mid-December. I got one because a friend of mine suggested I do it and explained to me about the one he has, so that’s what I got. So far I’ve had one claim -- a fairly simple process. They put me in touch with a local contractor. They came out, they repaired it, but they didn’t repair it properly all the way. I called them again, they sent him back out... I didn’t have to pay an additional charge.
I’m satisfied with the way the business is conducted. However, I wish they’d be more clear on what they do and don’t cover in their advertisement. The contract I received, maybe 15-20 pages long, you got to really dig in to see what is and isn’t covered. They cover the septic tank but they don’t cover the sump pump. You got to get a separate one for that. You’d think they’d be all included, but it’s not. Either something comes up or you just get a chance to really read into the contract.

It was a horrible experience dealing with Select Home Warranty. Every time I call, the guys that answer the phone are nasty. I put in a claim as my air conditioner is not working and it was rejected because 3 months ago my other air conditioner was fixed. I told them that the one they fixed was on the second floor and the unit they're going to fix is on the first floor. They said they have to review it and maybe it's just Freon. I don't know if it's Freon so I told them to call one of their contractors to come and look at it to tell them what's wrong with it. The guy said no. How can they tell me that? That's what I have for protection, right? I haven't seen an air conditioner since Thursday. I have two kids and myself that have asthma and it hasn't been done yet.

When I first called Select Home Warranty, they kept asking me all kinds of various questions like, "Are you sure that you didn’t have this problem before?" I was not happy with the way that they were kind of drilling me. I told them that we had just moved in the house 2 or 3 months ago, and all of the sudden the garage door had a problem. It seemed like they are almost trying to get out. Then they told us it would be covered. A guy came out, we gave him $40 and then they called and said "Well I just want you to know that it wasn’t covered, but I'm going to go ahead and honor it." I was like, “Okay.” I just know that I won't have it next year. I'll go with another company. But they did what they were supposed to do which was fine.

I've had a home warranty ever since we bought our home here in Tennessee, for 5 or 6 years. We were with another company and they had a pretty big increase in their policy. Then I got some information on the internet from Select and called them. Select gave me a good price and so I gave it a whirl. I had one claim and was pretty much satisfied. However, it took them a little while to get everything done, so I was a little disappointed. They said that they work with Sears Repair and my appliances were all Sears. They want to call them about replacing the top unit in my oven. They sent someone out and it took about a week, but they did get it fixed and all it cost me was my deductible.

I used to have AHS and I am going back. Here's the issues. (across 2 properties)
1) first call that I made against the policy was (irrigation) system was declined because they said it wasn't covered. So I called again and quoted them off the contract that it was. After that they sent a service person.
2) Also on the first call, they were reluctant to cover because they claimed they weren't in possession of the signed agreement even though I paid them in full. Once I told them I could find their confirmation, they were willing to discuss.
3) Service fee - this is a scam. I had a broken fan and they wouldn't send a technician to repair or replace, unless I purchased the fan using a partial reimbursement, and they made me sign a release. So on top of that i would have to pay a service fee, and some money for the fan. I had 15 calls and over 10 emails trying to get them to resolve. Some of their responses said that a company was dispatched, when later neither the company wouldn't return my call and no one went out to fix it. I was ready to continue escalation to an attorney, but my credit card company is working out a refund. MY SUGGESTION IS TO AVOID THEM .
4) Repair of built in appliance - They jerked me around for months and wouldn't send someone to fix. They refused to send a company even though earlier emails said that they have or will dispatch. Ultimately they offered to buy me off for 150.00 which would barely cover the partial cost of repair. Eventually I realized that NO ONE there is accountable and it appeared like salespeople were answering the repair calls and that their mission was to avoid covering the claim. Worse than that, when I would call they treat you like you are doing something wrong.

He almost rejected the request so I was kind of mad at him. He said, I'm sorry. It ended up having no problems so that's okay, and he said he will communicate with them.

I've had Select Home Warranty for about 8 months. At times it's good, at times not so good. I had a problem with my garbage disposal and they came out and fixed that. But right before that I had a problem with my furnace that I just wanted to pilot lit but I didn't know anything about the furnace (I couldn't even figure out how to open the thing up). I called them and what they told me was, "Oh, at the beginning of the season, you just have to light the pilot. That's all you have to do." What they didn't say was what's the brand, model number, etc. And when I went and finally opened it up, I couldn't find a place to light it.
I went online and found out - it said, "Whatever you do, do not try to light a pilot," and they gave me all these circumstances. I was like, oh my goodness! It's a dangerous thing if I simply tried to stick a match in there. When I told them about that, they didn't seem to understand how dangerous that was. They just said, "We'll send someone out." And I was without heat from Wednesday through Monday because of them not just sending someone out to light the pilot. I wouldn't sign up for them again.

That was just before Christmas.
Then after Christmas, 12 loads later, after New Year’s, I called him again and I said, “How many loads does it have to go through before it stopped making noise?” He said, “Well, I won’t be back until after 5, call me then,” and he hung up on me. So I was going to wait a while and I was going to see if this thing was still going to make noise, and if it was, then I wasn't even going to bother with him. I was just going to call Select back. The water heater wasn't staying red and they had a couple of guys out within a reasonable amount of time. They first said that they weren't going to cover the call but after they found out that there was more things wrong with what was first reported, they did go ahead and cover. They first said that there was just a screen on the bottom of the water here and that was the home owner's responsibility. My husband's worked with appliances all his life and he didn't know that there was a screen under there that needed cleaning. He'd be unable to clean it even if there has been one. I'd recommend Select Home Warranty. I had a pipe at one of my washing machines that was backing up on me. They sent out a man out in 2 days from the day I called them. When he came out and fixed that washing machine, he later told me that's not covered under my contract. I said, “Wait a minute. I thought all my pipes under my house was covered under my contract?” He said, “No, we did this out of courtesy.” So that's something I'm looking into right away but it's been well and everything's working. I don't have to sit and worry about anything with the house for the next 5 years.

We've been with Select Home Warranty for six months. My experience with them is not very good. I had to file a claim a couple of weeks ago and I wasn't satisfied with the people that they sent me. I had some issues with my toilet and they came out and told me that it was old. And they also trekked in mud and stuff. Also, I had a faucet that wasn't covered under the warranty but they were supposed to try and fix it. They refused to look at it.

First, I got a call from American Home Shield. Then when I called Select, they gave me the same rate with cheaper call pay. That's the best part because the other one is asking for 75 and they're only asking for 45 so that's a big difference. So I decided to go with them. The service is really good. The moment I emailed for some repairs, they immediately sent me whoever is available.

I was looking up home warranties on the internet. We're in Florida and it's our first house. I know the climate down here is more humid and close to the beach - it's a little bit warm. We just moved our home so we wanted something that if something happened at the house if I was gone, my wife could call and get something repaired without me being here and not costing like thousands of dollars for something simple. I started calling around. Select Home Warranty had the best deal basically and the best kind of coverage so I chose them. I got the basic one that covers the basic things. I've used Select twice and had absolutely no complaints whatsoever. They're very clear when I talk to them. The second time I used them was for the dishwasher and they offered me options of whether I wanted to repair the pump or use the money for the pump to put into a new dishwasher. I've recommended them.

My experience with Select was good. The only problem I really had with them is I got the impression from talking to them on the phone that they tried to do whatever they can to wiggle out of paying claims because when I called them, the guy really quizzed me when I told them I had this problem with my clothes washer. “What kind of maintenance have you been doing on it? You’re going to have to prove that you had maintenance done on it and show receipts and that the unit has been maintained for us to cover any kind of repairs on it.” I did wind up getting the thing satisfactorily fixed and the company that the guy sent me did a good job with it, so I can’t complain about them either.
I actually bought as a gift for my girlfriend a home warranty on her house for her, and she has used them, they had two issues. She had the same issue when she called. They were giving her a hard time about it. I don’t like the way they handle things when you talk to them about filing a claim. They just leave a bad taste in your mouth. I would not recommend Select Home Warranty to a friend. But on the same hand, I wouldn’t tell a friend not to either.

I was researching online when I came across Select Home Warranty. I decided to go with them because of their price, their deductible and because the other home warranty that I had only covered up to $500 and it was more expensive. Select Home Warranty is cheaper. The first representative they sent out didn't speak good English but the others that I spoke to were fine. The guy that came out to do my heater replaced my thermostat for we thought that that was the problem. We found out it’s not so I need to have them come again to fix my heater. I’m going to call them again.

Select Home Warranty has extremely bad service. I am paying them $385 a year and more. The first time I called, the person fixed something but did nothing, just cleaned my machine. Then I paid $45 plus $20 just for him to clean the machine when I can go to any Home Depot and any place. Another time, I paid $45 for the person to come into my house to fix something and just to change one piece from my oven. I want to publish everything on Facebook and in all the places that I can publish and in the Select page too. Select Home Warranty is no good. They don't know how to do business.

I already had a home warranty and I've heard that Select had good customer service online from reviews so I switched. I have filed a claim. The experience was not good. As soon as I told the guy that I had an issue with my plumbing he said immediately that it wouldn't be covered and they weren't going to send anybody out; and then I referenced the contract several times where its stated verbatim that it would be fixed for that specific plumbing issue and he said no that's not right that there were other rules basically that weren't on there. So I spoke with their manager about that and he said they will send somebody out and covered it for me. They were difficult to deal with.

We were purchasing a home and so I looked and pulled up a list of home warranty providers online. I went through companies who had a decent consumer feedback and emailed a couple asking about what kind of services they provide. This was the first time I bought a house and so I didn’t know what was in or out of the home warranty. Select gave me a call back and we liked what they provided and they threw in a couple of extra things for us. We got 2 months extra and my husband just felt like they covered more than their competitors.
When I called them to submit a claim because my air conditioner was acting up, they got out a newer company. I hadn’t heard of them but the company was FABULOUS and I used them on my own again. It was GREAT. The people came out and were on time. I actually had to get a new thermostat. That was really easy. I had a lot of things going on that day and that was really quick and unproblematic. I would definitely recommend Select Home Warranty.
