My friend recommended that I buy my home warranty policy with Select Home Warranty. The staff is very professional and efficient. They answer all your questions and are patient with you. They helped me with the claims process and took down all the information needed the first time and took care of the rest. We are very happy.

Had some appliance trouble recently. SHW was quick to respond and send a contractor out to us. Repairs were completed in a timely fashion. The deductible paid was significantly lower than the cost to replace the parts and pay for repairs. We saved a lot of money.

We had a problem with the dishwasher recently. Claim was submitted online that evening. Got a call back the next morning asking for some additional questions about the dishwasher. They also told me that someone will contact me shortly about setting up an appointment to try to repair the dishwasher. The repairman who came was able to swap out a piece that was damaged and had our dishwasher working like new. The part alone cost $250 and we only paid $45 out of pocket which was our deductible. We saved a decent amount of money by having this policy in place.

We had some trouble with our pool equipment over the summer. The pump was not working properly. My husband submitted the claim information online and we received a call back the next day. The claims person said that they will have someone come down and take a look at the pump and make the necessary repairs. The pool repair person came and was able to change the part that was no longer working. The entire claim process from start to finish was very good. The communication between the Select, the contractor and myself went seamless. We were very happy.

We were having some trouble with our garbage disposal. I wasn't sure what the procedure was or how to go about filing a claim. I called SHW and the representative was very helpful and guided me through the claim process. After the claim was processed I was told that someone will call me to set up an appointment to make repairs. The contractor came and everything was done right away. I was very happy with the entire process.

I contacted them as per contract, and informed them that my preventive maintenance service Tech. identified a leak in my A/C system (it was not at the correct level). Select refused to send a Tech. to determine what the problem could be. They said that cooling fluid leakage is not covered. First of all I paid extra for Freon Coverage, but they called it "Cooling Fluid" (there's not such animal), and refused to send a Tech. I said "How do you even know the problem if you will not send someone to determine the issue, because it could be anyone of several items covered by the warranty, (Compressor, condenser etc...)." I was getting nowhere with numerous calls, then they finally blocked all my calls so I could not call them. The matter was closed according to them. I had sent 12 emails, made countless phone calls, but they were done even though they had not sent a Tech. which is in accordance to the contract.
I was forced to contact the Better Business Bureau for a formal complaint. They just blew them off as well, claiming my issue was a cooling fluid leak. There is not and never has been anything referred to as "Cooling Fluid" but that where I stand, and though I have Freon Coverage, they are calling it cooling fluid. WHAT? They do not care if you contact the BBB or anyone else. They have my $425.00 and they're keeping it without fulfilling the contract obligations, and there not one thing you or anyone else can do about it...

I have been with Select Home Warranty for 4 years now. I have had 2 claims since I purchased the policy and both times the claims service was very good. The staff was efficient and professional. The contractors that they have sent out were very knowledgeable and friendly.

Had some problems with our garbage disposal lately. I contacted SHW who sent someone out to us to take a look at it. The repairman figured out the problem within the time he was there and was able to fix it on the spot! I was lucky that no parts had to be replaced or anything but it did take some time for him to repair it. The cost of paying for the service vs. paying my $45 was incomparable. I saved hundreds of dollars just by paying my deductible rather than the servicing fees.

We had to submit a couple of claims over the course of the year for multiple appliances. Each time we had an issue Select was quick to send someone out to us. All the appliances were repaired quickly and efficiently. We haven't had any issues since then with any of our appliances.

We have had trouble with the dryers. I called SHW and they sent someone out to our home as soon as possible to come and check it out. They came out very quickly and repaired my dryer. I was very pleased with the whole process. The repairs were done quickly. The contractor was knowledgeable, friendly and efficient.

Had some trouble with our washing machine. I called Select Home Warranty. The person in the claims department took down all the information. He said that he will have a contractor contact me directly to schedule an appointment to check out the washing machine. I got a call later that day and the contractor came out the next day. He ended up having to order a replacement part for the machine but once the part came in, he right away repaired the machine. I was very happy with how everything was handled. It was done efficiently, professionally and quickly.

We were having some problems with the toilet in our house last week. I called SHW who stated that they will find a plumber in our area to come to us. I received a call from the plumber that afternoon who scheduled an appointment to come to the house. The plumber was able to fix the problem very quickly. He was fast, efficient and professional.

I called Select Home Warranty because we were having some issues with the washing machine. It was not spinning properly. My garbage disposal has been acting up. I called Select Home Warranty and gave them some information about the disposal unit. They said that they will get someone to come down to me to check it out. The repair man came the same day to inspect the unit. He said that a part needed to be changed and that he will order it. The part came a few days later and the repair was made. I was very pleased with the service. The repair man gave me an accurate time frame, was easy to get in contact with and was very efficient.

I was recommended by my realtor to purchase a home warranty. She recommended that I called Select Home Warranty as that is who most of her clients use and they are highly recommended. I wasn't sure exactly what this kind of policy was or what was covered. So when I called, the representative was very kind and professional. We were having some trouble with our stove last weekend. I submitted a claim online over the weekend and got a call back Monday morning. The representative who called me stated that they will have someone contact me to come and see the stove. That day I got a call from a contractor who came to see the stove and repaired the heating element right away. I was very happy with how everything took place. I didn't have to chase anyone down to find out the status of my claim or if they received it over the weekend. I got the call right away and everything was handled extremely professionally.

My shower was leaking. Couldn't stop the water from running. I was able to reach Select Home Warranty and have a person out to me to fix my issue. The plumber was nice quick and didn't have to return again. He got the job done on the first try.

I am now 10 days since I filed my service claim for a clothes washer. I reside in Dallas, TX. The service company came out the next day and spent 2 hours taking the washer apart and indicated he wasn't sure of what needed to happen and would be in getting in touch with Select Home warranty. Given that I have extra family here for the Thanksgiving holiday not having a clothes washer has been a terrible inconvenience. I have now spend the last 4 business days calling and having a new service rep from SHW explaining that since it was in my first 90 days they would only cover $150 of the repair or replacement. After having them agree I have been in the program over 100 days they agreed it should be covered at the $500 level. I keep hearing they would need to get with review board for next steps all the while another day without our washer.
Yesterday was a circus (on 3 different call that I initiated). They kept telling me that they had responded by email and had I gotten it. (which I hadn't) Then was told a manager would call me in 20 mins. on two different occasions. I am still in limbo on Thanksgiving day waiting to hear what's next. This is my first claim. I can only imagine what my future experiences will be. My attorney reviewed the contract it is poorly written and confusing. I am now getting the understanding that I will pay for the repair/replacement and submit the invoice and start the process. I remain optimistic that they may still solve things yet have been incredible disappointed so far.

My dishwasher was acting up. I went online and submitted a claim with SHW. The next day I got a phone call from SHW asking a few more questions as I left out details in my submission. They said that they will get a contractor to come down and check out the dishwasher to see what they can do. The contractor came that day and was able to go get the parts needed to make the repairs. I was pleased with the service. SHW were efficient and professional and the contractor was professional, prompt and quick to make the repairs.

I have had a policy with SHW for 2 years now. This is the first claim that I had to submit. It was for my dryer that was not working properly. When I called SHW they took down all the information they needed for the claim. They told me that they will have a contractor contact me to come and inspect the dryer and make the necessary repairs. It took almost 2 weeks for them to get someone to my home to fix my heating system. The first two contractors declined to take my work order stating "They no longer work with Select because they don't pay out." When they finally got a technician to my home, my heat worked for the upstairs but still cold downstairs. The Technician also stated I should find another home warranty company because Select is the worst company in the business and they always find an excuse not to pay out claims and everything is never covered. Which I found out the next day when my heat was still not working properly.
Jamal the Supervisor acts like he is really trying to help you but he really doesn't. The other representatives, Ernest, Heather and Max all seem to not know what they are doing. PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE people save yourself the headache and stay way from this company. Now me and my family will be spending Thanksgiving freezing due to these IDIOTS!!!

I was told that it was good to buy a home warranty policy for my appliances when I bought my new house. My friend has had Select Home Warranty for a few years and they were very good with claims. I had some air conditioner troubles over the summer. I had to contact SHW twice for two separate air conditioner units that were not working very well. Each of those times they sent someone out to make the repairs. It was the same contractor both times (which I was very happy about). The contractor fixed the air conditioners each of those times and have me some tips on how to properly maintain the units in the winter months.

I was having a problem with my hot water heater. I called Select Home Warranty to submit my claim. They took down all my information. The person I spoke to was very polite, efficient and answered all my questions. They were able to get a contractor out later that day to take a look at the water heater. I ended up needing to just replace a faulty part which had to be ordered. The repairs were made within a reasonable amount of time. The contractor knew what he was doing. I was very happy with the process from start to finish.

I'm waiting to hear from them about a claim for my washing machine. They sent an email upon initial claim being made, but the contractor called me and stated they "do not do business with Select any longer and in fact, sued them for non-performance (not paying them)". I've been waiting now for a callback from a "manager" to get me in contact with a new contractor. Have made four calls and continue being told a manager has to call me. So I'm not experiencing one iota of the experiences written here and genuinely question they are even valid customers, but rather posters paid by Select. Now I'm thinking how foolish I was to pay for 6 years of warranty coverage by this company. Hopeful Harrison **, Joseph **, or Elliott ** at ** will call me because that phone # is just an answering machine.

My faucet was leaking for a couple of days. At first didn't think much of it and then I figured, "Let me call my warranty company since I have one" and I'm glad I did. I needed a new valve for my sink so the person was able to come out with it and first try it was repaired.

My boiler was smoking and I panicked. I called Select Home Warranty because I have them for 4 months and remembered I had a home warranty. I have never used them so I was scared, but they were great. Got a heating guy fast to my home and was able to stop the smoking and get my heating unit working.

Never had a more frustrating experience dealing with a company. We had a yearly contract for three years. Only during the last year had to file two claims. Both times it was a complete nightmare. Select is unresponsive and virtually impossible to get a hold of by phone. Countless hours arguing with them about what they were doing. It took a month for a broken microwave that we ultimately had to purchase a new one and get a reimbursement from them for $150. Second claim was for the oven - not operating. It's been a month and a half of half - with contractors showing up and refusing to repair the stove because they were not authorized by Select. DO NOT take out a warranty with this company. Waste of money.

We purchased this policy when we bought our home last year. All our appliances were brand new. About a year later we were having some issues with the buttons on our dishwasher. I called Select Home Warranty, gave them all the information they needed and I was told that I would get a callback. Someone called me back the same day letting me know that a contractor will be coming out to take a look at the dishwasher. The next day the contractor came and repaired the buttons that were not functioning properly. I was very happy to see a contractor come out with everything needed to service the unit. I was impressed.

We had a problem with our pool over the summer. I remembered that I bought a policy with SHW and added coverage for my pool. I called SHW and they asked me a lot of questions about my pool and what the problem was. They then had a contractor get in contact with me and to schedule an appointment to come to inspect the pool. The technician was able to make the repairs on the same day and had the pool running great. Was very happy.

I needed to buy this policy as I was buying a new home. My real estate agent recommended SHW. The hold time was less than 10 min. I asked all the questions needed and did not feel rushed at all. I had an option to choose if I wanted a 1 year or 5 year policy. I was not pressured into buying anything long term. I have had some questions ever since buying the policy and the reps on the phone were polite and answered all my questions.

We purchased a 2yr warranty with Select for the specific purpose of covering our HVAC replacement when we bought our home, knowing the system was 17yrs old when we purchased the house. The unit was not in great shape and had some internal rust from, what I gathered, was some sort of leak in the history of the house before us. Long story short, when our HVAC unit finally died, Select pulled the typical warranty company BS and said "There's rust damage, so we don't cover that". I had certified HVAC tech's that inspected the unit at the time we purchased the home who came back and looked at it and said the unit had not incurred any damage beyond what was there when we purchased the home; in short, it died because it was now 19yrs old.
So according to Select, my HVAC system was not going to be covered from the get-go... but "we'll go ahead and take your $700+ thank you!" Then they stopped returning phone calls and when I was supposed to get a call from their Office Manager... shocker... they never called. Absolute criminals. BTW... the best/worst part (other than the $3k+ bill for the new HVAC system) was I called the HVAC company Select sent out to do the HVAC call (who determined the unit was finally shot), and THEY (the HVAC company) said they were involved in THREE cases exactly like mine, ALL WITH SELECT, and they were now evaluating whether or not they were going to continue business with Select.
I am reporting them to my state's Insurance Commission, as this kind of crap is just dirty, wrong, and pretty much con-artist business. I highly suggest, if you have been scammed by them like I have, you follow suit.

I called Select Home Warranty when I was having problems with my a/c over the summer. It kept blowing hot air and we didn't know why it wasn't working. When I spoke to someone they said that they would send someone out to take a look at what the problem was. When the contractor came he inspected the unit and made the repairs on the spot. I was very happy to see that everything was taken care of properly and it all went smoothly.

My microwave went out in September. I contacted Select Home and submitted pictures of the built-in unit and supplied the model number and serial number. I was then told they do not repair microwave ovens and once I replace it they will send me $95.00. I had to purchase a new microwave and send them a copy of the invoice and relieve them of any additional responsibilities. I submitted all the requirements on September 20th, 2015 and was informed I would receive the $95 within 30 days.
On October 20 I contacted them only to be told the check would go out on November 10th and it could be 7 to 10 days before I would receive it. Today is November 17th and no payment. I emailed them today and received email back that a check would be sent on November 24th. That means they have collected 3 months of more than $50/month from me and still have not reimbursed me the $95. It cost me the price of a new microwave plus $200 removal and installation on the new unit. Beware buyers!

My oven has been acting up lately and I've been with Select for 1 year now. And yesterday morning it just wouldn't heat up so I called them and an agent was available right away. So I explained my issue and they determined that I needed someone to come out so they dispatched a tech to me. The tech was nice and professional and they fixed my issue on the first visit.

The water in my sink tub and toilet wasn't going down so I called Select Home Warranty to use my warranty. This was my first time using it. I have had Select for almost 2 years and my experience was perfect. They had a plumber come out and snake the pipes and everything is working like new again. I will be renewing for a 3rd year at the time of my renewal.

My washer was not cycling correctly. It kept turning off on me and was hard to get it started up again. Select had someone out to my home and they told me I had a bad control board and it needed to be replaced. Select approved my claim and they replaced the board. Fantastic work.

My problem started at 11pm. I started hearing noises from my heater so I got scared. Turned off my heating system. I called Select and they advised me to turn off my heater which I have already done and they told me they would have someone out to me within 8 hours and someone was by me 7 am that morning. I needed a new part so the tech told me they would order it and come back. He was back to my home 2 days later which was quick for me and he fixed my issue. I really owe everything to Select. Without them I would be out thousands of dollars.

I was having a leak from my bathroom tub and was scared it would cost me a lot to get fixed and wasn't sure it would be covered on my warranty so I called Select Home and they told me, "Everything would be fine and we will get a plumber out to you," and they got me a person out to me within hours and I had a broken pipe and Select approved my claim and the tech worked on my repair and it cost me nothing. I was so happy. This warranty was worth it just for this issue alone.

My oven was not heating up so I remebered having a warranty with select home warranty but I didn't have my policy number. I contacted them. They were able to find me in the system and have a person out to me right away and on the first vist the tech was well prepared. Had the part with him and boom my oven was fine and working like new. My warranty will be up for renewal shortly. I will be calling them to renew and get it for my rental property.

I had an issue with the plumbing last year and had to pay for repairs. A friend then told me about a company who offers home warranties and recommended Select Home Warranty. When I called them I asked a lot of questions about coverage and the person on the phone was very polite and friendly. Last week I had an issue with the plumbing again (same problem as last year). I called Select Home Warranty and they sent someone out right away. The contractor was very efficient and nice. I had the same problem and already knew what the cost would have been had I paid out of pocket. But this time I only had to pay my deductible which was only $45. I was so happy because I saved hundreds of dollars just on this service call. That alone made the policy value well worth what I paid.

I was having problems with my hot water heater about 3 weeks ago. I submitted my claim information online and was contacted the same day. They asked for the make and model of the unit and wanted detailed information on the issue with the heater. I gave them as much information as I had and they contacted a contractor in my area to come and take a look. The contractor already had an idea of what the problem was, based on the information I gave SHW. He was able to make the repair the same day and came with the part that was needed in order to have a functioning hot water heater. I was very satisfied with my experience.

I signed up for Select Home Warranty in Hawaii. They told me it was a one time service fee for any problems, no other fees. My dishwasher broke. They told me they only cover $150 because it was less than 3 months. It was in the fine print. So I went ahead and had the guy fix the problem. Another service fee to have him come back out. He couldn't fix it so I bought a new one. Select home warranty said they don't cover installation. They said they would send a check for $150, which only covers the service call fees to not have the problem fixed.
Every time I called to find out what happened to the check, they told me I hadn't filled out a form. Always a new form and new excuse. Average hold time for a phone call is 1 hour! It's been over 3 months and I still haven't gotten the check. I ended up canceling the service and haven't received a refund for the 2 years I paid upfront. Very much a waste of time and money. 0 stars!!! 0 customer service, 0 value, 0 coverage.

Had some issues with my appliances over the past couple of months. I contacted Select Home Warranty on each of those occasions and was able to get great customer support. They sent out technicians who accommodated my schedule. One of the parts took some time to come in but that was no fault to the technicians. I have been trying to get my toilet fixed now for a month. I have emailed Select Home Warranty and asked to have repairs numerous times. They send the name of a service provider and if they haven't contacted me in 24 hours to call the service tech. I have called the techs and left messages, no return calls except from one tech company and he said he was no longer working for them because they don't pay their bills. I have called, emailed and talked to Select Home Warranty but I still haven't had my toilet looked at or fixed. I told them I wanted my money back - I was tired of waiting for a month. They said "Ok, we will email you a void and reimburse you." Well, no email or reimbursement. I have contacted BBB. RIP-OFF, horrible customer service, liars.

I have had Select Home Warranty for about 2 years now. This is the first time that I actually had to file a claim for my hot water heater. I filed the claim online and received a call back within 24 hours. They were able to locate a contractor in my area and had them come out. The contractor came to inspect the water heater and found the faulty part. They replaced the faulty part and my hot water heater has been working perfectly ever since.

I had a problem with AC. Select Home Warranty company sent a technician to my house. I paid the service fee and technician took the part from my unit which is costing about $2000. He told me that part is bad. Will come back with new one within a week. He never came back. When I called Select Home Warranty company they say cannot help me although they have the technician. I would say this is one of worst company and least reliable in terms of service.

I have never gotten the type of response from any other home warranty company. I had a water leak, which was in the house, which resulted in me turning the water off to the house. When I called and told them I was told that I would get an email (which could a day) about how to proceed. I got the email a good day later telling that they needed pictures before they could do anything further. When the water company came they told me that I may just need to replace a particular part (which I did on my own) and so far so good. I have yet to hear anything from this warranty company. They lost a customer.

Our washing machine was not spinning clothes dry. So we called Select Home Warranty since they were wanting us to renew our policy. First I got told "we will find a repair facility for you" and they did. He examined the washer and found the problem. We were told we should hear something by Monday. We didn't. Then Tues we called them. They needed a picture of the machine and a picture of the model numbers as well as the serial number. Then a email told us we would knew if the part was covered within 24 to 48 business hours. That was on November 03. When November 09 came I called again to be told it had been approved and the approval had been sent to the Shop, who never called us to tell us it had been approved. Now the shop is saying we are at the mercy of Samsung to get the part and no date for the washer to be in service was given. My wife has Pneumonia and this is a big burr under my saddle.

Warranty Purchase Date: 6/15/15. Claim Date: 10/15/15. The coverage provided for my pool/spa was limited to $150 although the policy was purchased 4 months prior. The contract is written such that the primary benefits don't kick in until after 4 months plus 5-7 business days. I don't recommend this policy under any circumstances. Beyond disappointed as more of the damage would have been covered had the claim been submitted just a few days after. In addition, the repairs weren't made until 11/5 and the cost was over $1000 total. The representative told me that it was my problem to resolve with their contractor and also refused to escalate the issue real time and I was told I would receive a call tomorrow.

I used the online claim service as requested. First I kept getting spammed to buy the warranty even after I signed in. Then a day later a man from India calls and I can't understand anything he is saying but I explained it is two issues. Then I get told I need to send in a picture of the garbage disposal to claims. Then another 24 hours passed and I am told that I need to find a plumber, and have them call with what's wrong and the cost. Then claims will determine if it is covered which by the contract I signed and paid for it is covered period with a 45 dollar co pay. Anyways, they said if it is covered to go ahead and pay then send in the bill and they will decide what to pay for? I am on disability and even if I was not, the repairs for the basement alone can run over a 1000 dollars and for anyone to come out is a service call fee.
This company is a joke and I have asked for my money back since I have never used them. I had HMS before and went with this because it was lower priced and I thought I was getting a deal. People only go with HMS or Service one because the rest are scam artists and any good reviews you read in here about this company are probably them just making up a post. If I do not get my money back I will be contacting the BBB and I will go to my bank and have them reverse the charges as they have not provided the contracted services. Sadly, I bet I will have to take them to small claims to see my money back which I need to get a real warranty company.

Customer service is poor. You request a phone call and they continue to just email you. You try calling and you are put in hold for long periods of time and then the person who finally answers, knows nothing and cannot connect you to the person you want. I received an email for Julian to call them at their extension, yet they don't provide it. You call the number and you cannot get a hold of that person and are told they are not working. Who is then sending the mails? What a run around.

This company has been giving me a run around for months. It started in July of 2014 when the AC stop working. They sent a technician out who ^said the system needed replaced. The company ^told me they would not replace it or fix it but offered $125.00 for my trouble. It was $1800.00 for the tech they sent to fix it and they ^told me when the replacement was done with an appeal letter and all receipts and it was possible I would $200.00 towards the new unit. I was laid off at the time and decided to wait until June 2015 to replace the unit. The appeal with all receipts was sent on August 1, 2015 and again I was informed that all I would get is $125.00. I ^threw in the towel, signed the agreement, and faxed it back on 8/19. They claimed they never got it but I had the confirmation.
I faxed the agreement again in early September. When I checked back a week later it was in processing. I checked back early Oct and again in processing and should be getting my $125.00 check in 2 weeks. Called again 2 weeks later and I was ^told it was being processed (again) and it would be here in a week. I called today, November 5 and my claim is closed and I should be getting a check within a week or two. Every time I ask to speak to a supervisor - they are in a meeting. I am done being patient with them. It certainly seems I am getting the run around. I am filing a claim with the BBB to warn others of these tactics. I will place this review on any consumer site I can so no one else gets ripped off.

I have placed 3 claims with select since I bought a policy one year ago. Each time they came through and stood by their word. My first claim was garbage disposal that was replaced. The second was a repair of a roof leaking and they gave me roof leak free.

I submitted a claim for a garbage disposal that was not working and was told first that they would allow me $75.00 for a disposal but not pay to have it installed. I called and complained that I am totally disabled and what kind of home warranty company doesn't pay to have the item installed!?! If my A/C went on the fritz am I expected to install a replacement! I called and raised Holy H--L, I was transferred to a "Mr. **" who then offered me $150.00 and promised a check would be mailed to me.
After several weeks of calling him and several sincere promises that I would get a check, after a month or more I got fed up and called again and again, then I was told that I had this company as a home warranty company when we bought the house, as a part of the realtor package. It appears I had cancelled them before and for good reason. I recalled that they sent me a check for the prorated part of the unused premium less the money they paid for a garbage disposal, so in effect I was forced to pay for my own claim and what's worse is the fact that the disposal they, I mean I paid for didn't last a year. I have been through open heart surgery and then a shattered leg, the result of a fall, so I had forgotten the name of the crooked warranty I had had before. I mistakenly bought from the same shyster company from New Jersey and worst of all I paid for a whole year in advance.
That's my own fault but getting back to the claim after almost a month I was told by Mr ** that the board denied my check because they (I mean, I) paid for a disposal claim before with the previous policy. So, because the disposal they (I mean, I) paid for was not worth a crap and failed after less than 15 months. I had no input on the brand or type of disposal they (I mean, I) paid for, and no input on who installed the inferior piece of crap but I was denied the $150.00 that was agreed to and that I waited a month for. No mention of the fact that they subtracted the cost of the claim from my refund. No mention of the fact that this was a whole different policy that was prepaid for.
Now I am still waiting for my refund on the cancelling of this policy, it has again been over a month. This company is a fraud and should be run out of every state they do business in. I am going to write to the New Mexico Insurance Commissioner and, as a former Property & Casualty agent I will have a little bit of clout with his department. Do not do business with these thieves. YOU WILL COME AWAY WITH LESS MONEY IN YOUR POCKET AND END UP PAYING FOR YOUR OWN CLAIMS!
I have no way of putting a copy of the check for $679.00 on this review. That's a lot of money for a totally 100% disabled Vet. This Mr ** is a total liar that would put Hillary to shame when it comes to lying. He tries to come across as so concerned for your well-being but in reality he is just as crooked as the owners or "board" of this disgraceful company. I suppose in New Jersey they would pass for honest but I wouldn't be surprised if someone didn't go postal toward this den of thieves. They are shameless!!

The oven broiler was down due to defect of control panel. But to remove the control panel the face panel would be damaged. The company told us the face panel is not covered by the warranty while I see no such description in the contract. And they don't think the face panel is "necessary to the functionality of the oven." When you have problem, the company defines what's covered and what's not covered! What a joke!

After submitting a claim for my water heater, which has stopped heating and was leaking under my house at a very rapid rate, I was asked to send pictures. I complied. After sending pictures, I was told my claim was denied because the home warranty does not cover leaks. Last I checked, pretty much, when a water heater is old and quits, it pretty much leaks. So, I had to pay a plumber to replace the water heater. He couldn't install a gas heater due to new code and had to get an electrician to rewire part of my house to install an electric water heater. This entire process took over 5 days.

When the garbage disposal died, I called Select Home Warranty company. After several days, I called them again, and the customer service said it is not worth to repair the garbage disposal, and asked me to buy new one, and install it. They only pay me $75 for the new unit. But the cheapest unit costs me $84, and I need find the contractor to install it. I argue with them, but the customer service guy said it is in the policy. I don't have choice. I bought the new unit, and hired the contractor to install it.
After that, I went into the reimbursement process. I gave them the invoice, and they asked me the bank statement. After 20 days, I called them to ask the status, and when I can get my reimbursement. They said I need sign the reimbursement release form. I did it and email them back. After that, I checked them again and asked when I could get the reimbursement, the customer service guy said it takes 30 days... I'm really disappointed with such kind of service. When I was shopping home warranty, the salesman said the company would handle everything, but it is not true. REALLY feel disappointed with this company!

August 5, 2015, Called for service on oven. They recommended three contractors over a two week period, all of which do not service in Colorado. They couldn't understand this but then told me to call my own contractor, then call them with the contractor's name and they would call the contractor to see if they wanted to give approval, then call me back with a yes or no! Now this sounds like I am doing their job! Anyway, it took almost three weeks before they said I would have to take care of it and sent them a receipt of which they would only pay $200 of a $450 repair. This whole process took over a month. Very poor service and rude employees! Now after five weeks of waiting for reimbursement, I am told it will be coming sometime in the first part of November. I would recommend you find another provider if you are looking for a home service warranty company!

Unfortunately, I thought I did my homework on this company by looking them up on your site. Bad move. I should have consulted the BBB. Claim process started according to the correct procedure in 3/15. Numerous roadblocks placed in the process with absolutely no communication that was not instituted by myself. We will definitely not renew our warranty with SHW. We have had legitimate fixes on multiple occasions and this is how the best case scenario normally goes - wait on hold for 10 minutes just to be transferred to someone who then hangs up on you, finally make the claim and beg customer service to reimburse you, wait 60 days to get reimbursed then you call them to inquire about the holdup and they say they will have the payment out immediately (i.e. they never sent the payment out in the first place).
Worst case scenario - they don't reimburse you at all for an emergency fix because you called your own tech on a Sunday (after calling them with no answer), then when you push the case with them telling them it was a gas leak (which then brought about other problems with our oven), they refuse to pay for it because a "gas leak isn't covered"... Even though the other 2 oven fixes were items that should have been covered. So either it takes months of micromanaging to get a measly $150 out of them or they give you excuse after excuse to not cover you.

Buying a home warranty plan was tedious work but I think I made the right decision. I had a plumbing leak in the kitchen and Select Home Warranty sent over a contractor in under 2 hours. I thought that was incredible and he was able to fix the problem in only a few minutes.

On October 20, 2015, both the garbage disposal and gas water heater failed to work. I had a home inspection by a reputable contractor. He wrote an inspection report on both items and said both items needed to be replaced. I have been refused reimbursement by Select Home Warranty because I did not use their contractor who never showed up.

I purchased this policy because it appeared to be the most cost-effective and a lot of the others and my current warranty company. Well it turned out that this was the worse mistake of my life. I filed my first claim about 2 months after my policy was purchased only to find out that the item I was approved for was said to not be covered. Second claim was to fix the spring and garage door rod. I called the warranty people and informed them of the problem. They told me they would send me a confirmation of the repair company I was to use. Well I called the repair company to schedule an appointment for repair. The guy comes out on the scheduled day, diagnosed the problem, and said that he had to call it in because that was the policy of SHW. He called and was told that they would need to send it up for approval and it could take a day or so, but collect the trade fee.
Due to this being something I need to get done and let alone a waste of both my and the contractor's time, I paid out of pocket. I immediately called to find out if this was their standard practice and was amazed to know that this was in fact the way they do business. I immediately canceled my policy. I was told that it wouldn't take long to issue a refund but in fact it took over 30 days and when I called and finally got someone, they would tell me the refund amount to expect, but said that I would receive a letter (email) within the hour explaining the amount. After receiving the email, I called to discuss the amount. I have called several times and was told a manager was going to call me because the rep was not qualified to provide me with any information. I've called several times and still haven't received my promised call from the "manager." This company is not professional at all and their customer service sucks.

We just got done with a Select service call. Select was good and the tech they sent was also good. I would have liked the repair to be done on one trip out by the tech, he did not have the right part on him. He came out the next day to complete. At the end of the day the warranty did service its purpose at a good price.

Select Home Warranty approved and authorized me to use a local contractor to fix my roof leak and asked me to submit the invoice. After the repairs were done I submitted the invoice but they denied the claim and given me denial reason, they did not get authorization for the repair. To give more details, Select Home assigned a roofing contractor to my claim but that contractor refused to come and said he did not service my area and Select Home was aware of it. I called Select Home and mentioned what I was told by their contractor. And, at that time, the representative gave me his approval to use my local contractor and notated the account. When contractor arrived the next day I called Select Home and asked again to make sure they were OK with me using my own contractor and their answer was "Yes go ahead and use your own contractor and submit invoice for reimbursement." They lied to me!

I am happy with Select's service for my dryer. My clothes dryer stopped drying one night. My dryer is only 4 years old so I was surprised it stopped working to begin with. When the guy came to fix it I was so relieved. The whole repair took on 2 days.

I submitted the paperwork that Select Home Warranty (SHW) provided to me on June 23, 2015. On August 24, 2015 SHW required that I complete another set of paperwork, which was resubmitted on August 28, 2015. SHW informed me it would be 30 days before I received my payment. I called in September and was told my payment was scheduled to be issued on 9/21/2015. I never received my payment. I called and was told something happened and my payment would be issued on October 6, 2015. I never received the payment. I called and was told that a new payment would be issued and I would receive an email confirming. I never received the email. I called and was told the payment was reissued on 10/13/2015 and they were not sure why I didn't receive the confirmation. I have yet to receive payment for a claim I submitted on June 23, 2015.

I believe that SELECT HOME WARRANTY founded on dishonesty, deliberate negligence towards cheating the customers, and scam. Your company charged me for a month worth of service knowing that I isn't an Active Customer, also the lack of professionalism and knowledge of the people answering phone calls including the Supervisors. I will never encourage anyone to deal with SELECT HOME WARRANTY in all levels. Terrible, "one-page warranty" is nothing but a one-page scam and a way to keep it vague and deny claims. I am in the process of filing a complaint to "BBB", Pennsylvania Real Estate Commission Residential Service Program and with the Pennsylvania Deceptive Trade Practices - Consumer Protection Act. I am also speaking to an attorney because of SELECT HOME WARRANTY's negligence and deceptive practices. I would not recommend the SELECT HOME WARRANTY service to anybody.

Beware of select home warranty. They are a big scam. They have the worse customer service. My hot water heater went and after they sent a guy to my house 2 times he flooded my house. It cost me over 500.00 to repair my house and another 500.00 for a new hot water heater. And my refund was 25.00 from them. What a scam. It took 4 months for them to send me 25.00 so it cost me over 1,000.00 dollars and they only gave me 25.00.

I had a overflow tank burst and submitted a claim. Select Home Warranty told me that my claim didn't cover leaking hot water heaters. I let them know that it wasn't my hot water leaking it was the overflow tank. They request pictures and I sent them. They told me that I would need to pay for the repairs and then they would submit it to the review board and more than likely would be able to refund a portion of my money. We ended up having to replace the entire hot water heater as it was 17 yrs old and out of code to the tune of 1695.00. When the job was complete I submitted all of my payment and invoice information.
So a month later I hadn't heard anything called SHW only to be told my claim was denied because of the leaky hot water heater not being covered except it wasn't a leaky hot water heater and the invoice suggested that. I cancelled my policy. I will be super careful before I ever pay into another home warranty business... Just beware I selected SHW because it had good reviews - #3 out of the top 10. So now going back reading a lot of the claims are small nothing big like mine... So disappointed.

My A/C broke down and after a month a board is still reviewing whether they'll supply me with a part I need. I have paid the warranty for 3 years and yes I got a discount for paying up front and doing multiple year plans, but it takes SO LONG to get a claim from them with no guarantees! Also, I spoke to an actual supervisor and told him how much inconvenience this has been for me but he seem to just can't wait to get rid of me on the phone! I had an appliance start to give me a problem and when calling the company the representative I spoke to was very kind and understand. Select home warranty called me and was having special sale for 400 a year with 2 months free so I joined and paid in full. My water heat wasn't working so I called Select after thirty five days they gave me running around and finally send a contractor to check it. When the contractor came and gave Select the estimate, Select told me some b.s. story and wouldn't fix my water heater so I asked for refund and they told me I had to wait for another thirty days. Select home warranty was very quick to take my money but won't credit my account for thirty. They were very unprofessional and not been truthful. First my GE 220V Microwave Oven stopped working. Within a day they said when I purchased another Microwave submit the invoice and they would pay $95.00 towards a $1200 microwave. The Microwave was 8 years old and they said they depreciated it to $95. I had to purchase a oven for $170 to make do until I had the funds to replace my Microwave. Second, my in home central A/C unit developed a problem with the coil being defective. Rheem would only cover the part and Select Home Warranty will not cover the labor to repair it as they say the A/C unit is under Warranty with Rheem. Thus, this A/C unit is covered for 10 years for parts and now Select will never cover anything unless the unit is out of warranty for the parts, paying 10 years for nothing.
These companies are rated 5 stars, but guess I have missed on some issue. The reimbursement offered is not in keeping with the cost to repair or replace any items. They claim microwaves cannot be repaired. A GE product that can't be repaired is a stretch for me to believe.

Our townhouse was covered by AHS but we decided to switch looking for better options. My research lead me to Home Select Warranty which showed high ratings! I signed up for a year. Once you sign up, that is it as far as nice customer service. All you get are excuses. The A/C broke down and I realized at that time that only cover one A/C unit out of the two unless I add the second one from day one (AHS covered both without a say). I had to pay out of pocket $2000 to replace the unit and when I asked for relief from HSW, they offered $50 if I fill a form that they will email me. The email sent included an empty attachment. When I emailed them back, no response!
Then the garage door opener broke down. They sent an unregistered, unqualified, uninsured one man company. It took forever for him to do the repair correctly. He had to come back several times. He had to call the manufacturers to get instructions!!! This company is terrible. All records are available for accuracy of what has been stated.

Call them, the repair guy comes out the next day, gets the company approval to repair the AC. The repair guy refuses to fix the AC due to previous problems with Select Home Warranty not paying his invoices on time. I called him back just because I have small children in the house. I had to pay the guy out of my pocket to get my AC repaired and this company still hasn't sent me my check for the claim. When I asked for a refund for the full policy instead of $350 they refund $108 dollars. This company will be your worst nightmare ever. Don't give them your money, might as well throw it in the garbage.

My air conditioner went out on a Sunday night. It took several calls between myself and the company they selected to come look at it and many emails from me to get an answer 3 days later. The unit is 17 years old. People like myself buy these contracts so we don't have to worry about huge expenses if something breaks down. Sure enough they turned down my request - some by-law or something, something to do with having repairs done in the past. Also if the repairs weren't done correctly then they won't fix it. It has run really well for the past 4 years and the motor has now gone out also a short. Select Home Warranty won't fix it. I have been with them going on 3 years and this is only the second time I have turned in a claim. I will not go with them again.

Purchased this home warranty in January, never used it. Was told it was one of the best. Well, not so much!! Called Sunday to try to get a plumber for hot water heater, was told they would have someone out on Monday. On Monday got an email stating leaks were not covered under the contract, problem is that it is not leaking. Called and they stated rep noted we said it was leaking all over the place! Once again they said they would sent a plumber out in 24 hrs, then told Tuesday by email per contract, we locate a plumber, pays all expenses and they will reimburse us.
Well contract states we pay only 45.00 deductible and they pay remaining. Emailed them all info, got a call they would send a plumber in 24 hrs. Today, which is Wednesday I get an email stating they don't have any available plumbers in the area and indeed to locate my own. So here we are on day 4 with no plumber and have to pay full amount out of pocket!! Do not waste your time on purchasing this home warranty!!

First call put on hold, and hung up on after 10 minutes. Second call no answer. Call the next day, response, but no follow-up with service. Call 2 days later (water still running). They gave me a plumber for the next day. Plumber says he will charge more than the contractual rate. Called for another plumber the next day. One comes another day later and said they'd not do any work because repair was over $150 (the $150 is not a contract condition). Today I called my own plumber.
Meanwhile, 500 miles away in Myrtle Beach, my young daughter is using them for an air conditioning repair. After a week and 4 promises, over nearly 2 weeks to get her someone the next day they decided they would refuse service. They sent her a note saying “it’s in the contract,” saying that they really exclude all repairs on this covered service! Her refrigerator also went down the same week. She called that in and they sent her a plumber who called her and said he refuses to work with Select Home Warranty because they are such a shoddy company!
A fourth call for service - this time by me again when my garage door failed - got me service in 48 hours, but from multiple companies who got me in the middle of their dispute with the company. The work got done on the 5th day but it cost me almost 3 times the guaranteed price because they decided pieces of the work was not covered. Surprise. This is just a racket. I doubt they ever provide a service. I have never worked with a worse company in my 67 years!

Did not respond to a broken air conditioner for 8 days and many, many phone calls. It was 105 degrees. They would not reimburse for the $3,600.00, or the stove or microwave. Stay far, far away from this company. They are the lowest of the low. I am 86 years old. They asked me total a foot of the a/c and sent it to them. As I am wheelchair bound, it would be impossible to climb in the roof for foot. Regardless, had a neighbor take them, for sending them in we were advised they would not cover, 6 days later.

This company is a scam. NEVER Sign up. They will never PAY. They only try to ensure every claim is denied by using some bylaw or the other. I have proof to show how scum they are. Every claim is technically denied with some facts of the other. Denied claims - "After a Review of the information given to us by you, it has been determined that your Policy Does Not Cover this issue, the Plumbing inside the living area of your home is covered but unfortunately your issue is outside of the home and is not covered by your policy. Please see section 6.3.1 of the policy agreement". Now when you start asking for refund some amazing math will kick in and see how they calculate the refund. Apparently these folks creating a new MATH for the victims. They cannot even spell cancellation, what math can they really do? It took them really one month to invent a method to screw customers. Pathetic.

I have been a customer of Select Home Warranty for about a year now. My first experience with them was on a washing machine. I would get an error code so they sent out a repair guy who could not figure out the issue, but took it apart and checked the pump and electrical connection. He left; the washer kept giving me the same code; the same guy came back two more time and still could not fix it. He said it must be the control panel. SHW sent me a letter saying that they chose to pay me fair market value instead of replacing the panel. The value they would give me was around $115. Where I would find a replacement of a Kenmore Elite front loader for $115 I have no idea, but they chose that option even though I argued. I ended up fixing it myself after looking at youtube. Their service guy did not know what he was doing.
Then I had a ceiling fan that stopped working. It was well over $300 new and was only about 2 years old. I filed the claim and without ever sending someone out to look to see if maybe it was a loose wire, they chose their payout option again: $45. How can I replace an expensive fan with $45? These guys are a total ripoff. Stay away and find a reputable warranty provider.

Select Home Warranty has done an outstanding claims job on my home in Florida. The summer has been brutally hot and when the unit begin to fade I contact Select Home Warranty to schedule a service call. A technician was sent out who was very punctual and who completed the repairs quickly.
