    I purchased the platinum policy and additional coverages for my sprinkler system. I was very glad that I got that coverage in the end because when the sprinkler system was not working SHW processed a claim and sent someone to my home to fix it. They replaced parts and had it working perfectly. I saved a lot of money by having this extra coverage because I would have paid over a thousand out of pocket just to fix the sprinklers.     Called about a AC problem 03/14/2016, Customer service rude and not interested in helping us. They informed us that it would take 24 HOURS to assign and get a technician in touch with us. 3/16/2016 no call back from Select Home Warranty. We called and the customer service rep told us they see the request but still do not have a technician scheduled. 0317/2016 We called again and they still did not have anyone scheduled. We called our local AC contractor and he will be here in this morning or this afternoon. We would need to get our contractor in touch with Select to authorize payment. Select told me they could not get anyone (technician) to come out yet.

    Wanted to cancel Select Home Warranty and was informed if I did they would CHARGE BACK any payments to contracts against my refund. DO NOT CHOSE SELECT HOME WARRANTY, rude and uncaring. Forget any help in getting home office phone numbers to escalate complaint to management. "WOULDN'T HAPPEN". Stay clear of these guys.

    My hot water heater is leaking and needs to be replaced. SHW 'doesn't cover leaks'. Seriously?!?!?! What!?!? It's leaking (all over my basement, creating bigger issues) which means it's BREAKING DOWN. Needs to be replaced. I am SOL. I need to spend about a thousand dollars (of which I don't have - WHY I PURCHASED COVERAGE) to have a new one installed. I don't understand!! Where are they when you need them? How can a leaking hot water heater NOT be covered???

    In dealing with Select be sure you are ready to read the fine print on the contract. Also be sure you understand the reimbursement process. In dealing with other warranty companies I would pay the deductible and the company would bill the warranty company for the rest. Not at Select. You have to pay the repair company and then submit the paperwork to Select. After 30 days you are supposed to get your payment. In my experience I thought I was out of the initiation period and was getting more of a reimbursement for the work completed on my garage door. I wasn't even though I had to submit the claim twice because the first company that Select gave me didn't do home warranty work and didn't have an account with Select. So after waiting a month I submitted again. New company and they were great. Garage door fixed.

    Reimbursement is still on-going because I haven't received any repayment. The work was completed in December and now it's March. I had to wait for my check to clear and send the copy to Select along with receipt. Then I had to send in a form for the reimbursement, which I did the same day I received it. So I wait 30 days like the contract says and no money. I email and asked where the money was and they didn't have a copy of any of my paperwork which I sent to 2 individuals that had been in email contact throughout the process. So I resubmitted and awaited 30 more dates and no check. I email again and was told that billing sent check and would require 7-10 more days to receive my check. Still no money after 10 days.

    Long and short of this review: if you like to do somebody else's job (paperwork that most warranty companies do on their own) then this is your company, and if you like paying upfront for services and waiting for reimbursement forever, then this is your company. Once my time is up I will look elsewhere. I will also be looking into small claims court if my money doesn't show up soon.

    I purchased the home warranty in April. I had a problem with my pool pump, they didn't cover it because I was in a grace period. I fixed it myself, they reimbursed me 150.00 bucks 8 months later. Fair enough. The second time I called my toilet was and the technician could not snake out the foreign object. The technician told us we needed a new toilet. At this point, I am ok with this because it should be covered. I call back and they tell me they don't cover camera scopes which they said the technician told them I needed. I found it hard to believe that I needed a camera as I have some experience with plumbing.

    I then call the technician back and he said that he never told them that. So on to my next call, the rep says, "Sorry we can't help you that was the diagnosis from the technician." A FLAT OUT LIE!!! I told her she was lying, she transferred me to a supervisor. He told me the same lie until I asked him, "Did the technician that came out to house say I needed a camera?" He said NO, it was in his experience that is what I needed. Lying and dishonest at best might be close to criminal. I canceled on the spot. The amount that will be prorated back to me will be insignificant but I will not have to deal with the circle talk and lies. What a waste of money.

    I talked my mom into a home warranty and this was definitely the wrong one. Took them months to reimburse a small amount for a repair. They did not communicate well at all. The "reimbursement form" they sent was ridiculous and had to be notarized. It seemed to be written by uneducated foreigners or something. They didn't make sense or good use of the English language. I kept having to send them the same info over and over again. They didn't even seem to know who we were half the time. Don't waste your money on this.

After the third phone call, requested each time to be taken off call list for aggressive tactics and non-interest. Filed a complaint with the BBB and still received four phone calls after that.     Filed claim in October for washing machine. They had no one available. Told acquire own company. Did so. Filed reimbursement claim 12-4-15. Had to send pictures. Said okay and will process. Now 3-3-16 and still no reimbursement. Now asking for forms to be filled out. Told processing. Had Main house AC heat fail. Filed claim. Had to wait 3 days for someone to come. Found problem and reported to claims amount to repair. Did not hear anything about coming back. Called contractor for status. Said waiting on claims department for approval. Called claims and said processing.

    Next day requested pictures and all previous service records. Bought home used. Owner left no records. Because of this will not cover repair costs. If had service records would cover up to $2000. Without only $150. Ask salesman when purchased plan about this line item in contract and my condition of buying house. Said they had it covered. Here it is 6 days later from claim and still no heat. Will only pay $150 on $800 repair. Do not recommend this company at all. Still waiting on my reimbursement.

    I ordered Select Home Warranty after going through several companies. The experience with them has been awful. Not only are the contractors unprofessional but I had to have more than one contract assigned to my account because the others failed to show up or even call me back when I called about their services. I recently called and asked to have a contractor fix an issue with my bathroom only to find it wasn't covered, so began searching for a new company that would fix the issue. Found one that would so I asked to be released from my contract with Select only to have them give me $16 back after I paid two years in advance with them taking $150 fee for bogus claims of loss incurred. How are you losing when I just lost a whole year's worth of services.

    I would NOT recommend them and will be filing with the BBB. I've never experience BAD customer service and lack of respect for a paying customer. I've been a homeowner for more than 10 years and have always carried warranty insurance with a vendor and Select by far is the WORST!!! Ran far, far away from this company. Starting a PR/Social Media campaign against them now.

    I have a refrigerant leak in a rusting (evaporator coil) the warranty specifically covers condenser coils but does not name evaporator coils. In a heat pump the condenser and evaporator coils serve dual purposes depending upon weather in heat or cooling mode. They are trying to say they don't cover refrigerant leaks, however I paid an extra $50 to have freon replacement covered. They are telling me that If had proper maintenance there would not have been any trouble with the coil. According to the company they sent to fix it, that is a crock of **. They tell me they have to replace evaporator coils all the time. I did not have this kind of problem with American Home Warranty for two years before this. I cannot imagine this company is getting such high ratings without some kind of a buyout. It took them two weeks two calls to even get a service company to my house.

I placed a claim for my pool pump to be repaired and their pool company said it needed to be replaced and gave me a quote. After they finally agreed to pay $200 (initially they only wanted to pay $125) of $1050 pool pump replacement they still haven't sent the money. We are now going on 8 months. I have a refund and release agreement form signed 12/11/2015 from them but still NO money. Today is 2/29/2016. STILL WAITING. Hold times are ridiculous and promises that managers will call back are an outright lie.

    So we invested in this home warranty for the sole purpose to pass it on to whomever buys our home. In the interim, our washer broke, and wasn't draining. So I called Select up to get a repair done. The set up went smoothly and I was assigned to Don Enterprises and Associated (which is a whole different mess). The guy comes out, diagnosis the problem, and says "Lets pay your deductible first". So I pull out my credit card. "Cash only" he says. Okay. I have to drive to the ATM. I go and he says he'll follow. I come out of the ATM and he's nowhere to be found. He decided to get Burger King... apparently so I drove home. He shows up, I pay and he gives me NO clue as to what's wrong, when he'll be back. "We gotta order the part" is all I get out of him. I literally had to pry it out.

    So Select then approves the repair, great, and Don Enterprises calls me back and leaves a message. I call them. He says, "Let me call you back". Never calls back. I call back, "How's tomorrow morning." "OK." Great. He shows up on crutches. Mind you that's not his fault but how on earth are you going to work? Somehow he manages and also gets TONS of water on my brand new laminate floors (which warp when soaked). I have to run for towels and help him dry it. No harm no foul... mistakes happen and I am sure we got it dried in time. The only reason I bring it up is because it added to my stress. So new part is in, washer is working - excellent.

    The next day I run a few loads of laundry, the last one I put in at bedtime and went to sleep. I wake up the next morning to the dreaded warning signal from the washer. Turns out its the SAME thing. So the pump is not draining again, after three washes. Apparently there is a deeper issue here. I call SELECT HOME WARRANTY to relay the issue and they say they'll set it up for another repair. TWO days pass. They call me back. "Yes ma'am I'm calling because you've only had the warranty for a bit over a month, and our cap is $150 on repairs, and we exceeded that by paying $190." I explain that it's the SAME problem. It was not fixed.

    So now I am out the copay and I have a broken washer. He says I have to call the company back, they have a 30 day warranty on repair. Fine. So I call them, and the repairman says he has to contact Select, because "They don't like us making repairs without knowing". I explain "they know, I called them two days ago but yes... go ahead and call them to let them know".

    That's where I am at now. I just want everyone to be aware this warranty is not cut and dry! God forbid you go over that 150 in the first three months. Oh and mind you, the warranty is a total of 12 months... so in 1/4 of the warranty period if anything goes wrong you're screwed! I would suggest not going with this company. I don't know if there are better out there but I wish I had saved my 400 plus dollars towards a new washer. Not only do they not help much at all, they seem to have a hidden agenda, and don't partner with the best professionals.

    Select Home Warranty is a fraud! Their warranty is not a warranty at all. As an example, garbage disposal stopped working and submitted a claim. Select Home Warranty decided not to send a service company to repair and offered only $75 to replace. I bought a replacement (over $75) and of course had to hire someone to install the disposal. Now they want proof that someone installed the disposal before sending the $75. The amount of work they require from you is not worth receiving the $75. This is what they hope for. Cancelled the policy in the first month and only returned 50% of fee charged which is not how their contract reads. Experience for other competitors, Select is the absolute worst and buyer beware, fraud!!

    We experienced a clogged toilet on Sunday. I waited until Monday at 9 am ET to put in a claim online to Select Home Warranty. By 2:45 no one has contacted me. I then submitted an email to their claims email. No out of office, nothing back from them (it was presidents day and although I was working I gave them the benefit of the doubt that they were off too, which still should have warranted an out of office reply).

    Tuesday at 2:30 pm I sent them ANOTHER email, asking for a # to call, as obviously they cannot respond to online claims. At 6:45Pm I get an email from them (not a call like they said they would) stating for me to call this plumber asap. (It is 6:45 pm. Who is answering their phone at that point?) Thankfully my dad came over and took up the toilet to unclog it. Had my dad not come by, I would be 8 months preggy without a toilet for another night. I emailed the guy back and said they could cancel the claim and no email back apologizing, nothing. At some point they reassigned the claim. 2nd company no contact, as before found information in a late email, they stated have not received any information from Select Home. They will contact them and call me back. No phone call from either company.

    I call the company back. They stated they had spoke with Select Home and Select Home advised them that they had sent it to another company. I immediately gave thanks to that company and contacted Select Home. I expressed my disappointment in their service and asked for a manager. Once again they advised no manager available. After several minutes of back and forth the rep then tell me that my claim has been reassigned and she just spoke with them.

    I got the information and contacted the company myself. We set a date for Tuesday Feb, 9th, 2016. Please review the weather for Georgia during this time period. This is how long I have suffered without heat in my downstairs. Each company that I was able to speak with did not have favorable words for Select Home Warranty. I tried to keep it short, so imagine. You invest in a company like this so during emergencies your family does not have to suffer. Please take my truthful and humble advice, do not set yourself up for failure. Any company would have to be an upgrade, even if ran by 6 year olds.

    On Friday I requested service from Select Home Warranty. My garbage disposal is leaking water. As of Thursday (today) I did not get a response from them or got assigned a contractor to fix the garbage disposal. On my 4th call to them, they told me that I needed pictures of the garbage disposal so they can proceed with the repairs. This company is a fraud and I will not recommend to anybody to sign up with Select Home Warranty.

    Updated on 02/09/2016: They told me they will send me an email. After 8 days I never heard from them. I called them again, they told me they needed a picture of the garbage disposal. I sent a picture and never heard from them again. Finally I had to pay a different company to fix the garbage disposal. I am disputing the charges I paid for the contract $350. This company should not be in business, They are BAD!! And inefficient.
