Our a/c unit was not working. I submitted a claim online. SHW sent out a service contractor to my home. He was able to solve the issue on the same visit. He even provided some maintenance tips for the future. The service was quick and easy.

Had issues with my a/c unit. I submitted a claim online and SHW had a contractor come to my home to make repairs. When the contractor came he was prepared, friendly and professional. He came with all the necessary tools to repair the a/c and provided me with further maintenance tips.

Our washing machine was not working. I called SHW and they said they will have a contractor out to my home. When the contractor called he sounded very professional. He scheduled an appointment and arrived on time. He was courteous and knowledgeable. Repaired the machine on the same visit.

Has some issues with our stove recently. I contracted Select Home Warranty and filed a claim with them. They had a contractor come to my home to repair the stove. The entire claims process went smoothly. Repairs got completed quickly. Everything works perfectly now. Thanks!

Had issues with our stove. I submitted a claim online and Select Home Warranty had a repairman out to my house quick. The repairman saw the issue right away and was able to fix it on the spot. The service was quick. Everyone was professional and efficient throughout the claim process.

Our dryer was not working very well. It would not dry our clothing. I submitted a claim and SHW had someone out to our home very quickly. A part needed replacing from inside the machine. SHW approved the replacement part quickly and the repairs were made right away. I was very happy with the services from start to finish.

My HVAC unit quit working and I filed a claim with Select on Thursday. I had to contact the company to find out why a contractor had not been assigned on Friday. They had "lost" my contract so I had to resend it to them (however, they had no problem taking my money four months earlier). Once the contract was received, they assigned a contractor the following Monday. I had now been without heat (in December) for four days. I contacted the assigned contractor and they declined to come out. I contacted Select again to inform them and the next day they assigned another contractor. Unfortunately this contractor was a plumbing contractor and could not do the work. I contacted Select again and they finally found a contractor that would come out. The contractor found the problem and said it is a routine repair. They then contacted Select for approval to proceed with the repair. Select never authorized the repair.
Finally, after two weeks with no heat in December, I paid the contractor to make the repair. I then contacted Select for a refund. They went back and forth for several more days. They asked if I had 3-5 years of maintenance records and I said no. They used that and a clause buried in their contract to pay only $150 of the claim. To this date, I have not received the $150. The salesman did a very good job of convincing me that Select was an honest company. I even directly asked the salesman what would happen if my HVAC broke and could not be repaired. He assured me they would pay for a replacement system similar to what I already have. I will be cancelling and going with American Home Shield as soon as I receive my reimbursement. I warn everyone to steer clear of this company.

I have signed up for Select in the middle of last year and bought a multi-year contract. Approximately 3 month after signing up I called Select with a problem on one of my covered items. Approximately 2 to 3 WEEKS after I placed the original call a service repair company was finally assigned who would service my pool heater. After spending literally a couple of minutes in my house the technician left and, long story short, I received a call from Select that I will be covered for up $150 to repair this item!!! Reason? Fine print - they have a slowly ramping up term where the items are gradually covered. The item obviously had to be paid out of pocket by me.
The next time I called Select was approximately 5 months into policy, for home heating issue. I live in coastal NJ and we had a spell of very cold temperature. There are a plethora of companies around me providing heating solutions. For over a week Select could not find a single one!!! Finally, when they did contract one, the tech came out to my home, "diagnosed a problem" and left. No repairs were done! I did not get any follow up calls. Next, started a song and dance with Select. 1 - Please send us detailed photographs of the boiler, including the make and model number. 2 - Next, please send us detailed three year receipts of service on the unit! This kept dragging out so long, with a cold home in a middle of NJ winter, that I had to get a plumber on my own and pay out of pocket, who immediately fixed the problem.
This was the last straw. I contacted Select to cancel my policy. They "prorated" my three year policy, charging me for both calls to my house and then making up another one!!! Can you believe it? They actually claimed that I had a third person come out to my house! Despite the fact that I told them - "no, no one else came out," they refused to hear it. They prorated monthly payments at a huge upcharge to me, promising to refund pennies on a dollar! After all of the charges, I am left with less than a year's worth of payments on an original 3-year policy!
So, the moral of the story - if you like to call for service repeatedly and talk to rude people - buy the contract; if you like to ask for service and wait for weeks to have a simple heating issue resolved - buy the policy; if you like being frustrated with begging to have your own money refunded for no service performed - buy their policy. However, if you have any self-respect, and actually expect to get something for services ordered, go elsewhere! Paying out of your own pocket will be cheaper and faster than dealing with these typical New York/New Jersey swindlers. These are street hustlers turned pro. Avoid this company like a plague.

We were with American Home Shield and were dissatisfied with the service and cost from them. So we looked & found Select Home Warranty. I sell real estate & made it clear that if they treated me right, they'd get my business as well as that of my clients. That began a litany of unkept representations regarding their product and services. I moved 5 personal properties to SHW to the tune of $1800 for "15 months". 2 months later our high end Maytag ($1400) dryer quit. It took 2 weeks to get a tech out to the house. Another 3 weeks to finally determine that the dryer was no longer made nor required repair parts available.
They initially offered the estimated cost of the 2 defective parts (~$150) as compensation. I fought that. Then they said they'd pay $350. I fought that. The "owner" of SHW called me & said he was sorry about the way I was treated and that he would email me with a release and direct a check for $500 to be mailed to me within 48 hours. The email and check didn't come. I called back & they finally sent the release that I signed and sent back. I had to call them to bug them about the payment and they finally sent me just $350!! When I sent the release back with the $500 amount clearly indicated, I received no response.
Fast forward a couple of months when I submitted a service request for a broken dishwasher and a separate request for a defective washing machine. I did not get a response. I resubmitted the 2 service requests. No response. SO I called to cancel all 5 policies. Of the $1800 I spent, I got a late response & $350 on 1 call, no response on 2 calls and they send me a check back for $124.90!! Do yourself a huge favor and avoid this company like the plague. At Yahoo, I go by **. I would love to help spread the word on this "company". Let me know if there are other complaint site options available & I'll take them.

Very helpful when I signed up for the warranty - assured me they had technicians in my area even though I am very remote. When I submitted service requests, I received emails and telephone calls saying they had no technicians in my area - that I was too remote. I was told to find my own tech, have them come out to my house, survey the issue, and then they would have to call Select Home Warranty (SHW) to see if the repair would be covered. Being new to the area, I started down the "yellow pages" and called one after the other. None of them were willing to come to my home and look at the problems unless the cost was assured up front by SHW - unless I was going to cover the cost. That's fine as I would have been covering the cost one way or the other. However, if I'm paying out of pocket then I have no need of a home warranty company.
I called SHW, explained my issue and was told they would refund me the $375 I had paid to them since they had no technicians in my area. To date I have received $93.75. That's it. When I called today to question this, I was told by a "manager" they will give me another eighty-some dollars and that would complete my refund. That is a far cry from the $281.25 they still owe me.
I think this company is very quick to take your money, and then find any reason they can to not follow through on what you have paid them for. My request for a refund was because THEY did not have technicians to service my needed repairs. I made every attempt to get someone to come out, but no one wanted to if they had to call SHW before payment was assured. SHW should refund the total cost of what I spent as they misled me from the beginning, telling me they "definitely" had technicians in my area. I made three separate requests for repairs and not once did they send someone out. The sole reason I wanted a home warranty was so that I didn't have to fool with finding someone reliable. SHW does not live up to its promises, although they are very quick to make them.

I signed up with Select Home Warranty in May of 2014 when we purchased a new home. When I signed up, I explained to the salesperson that the reason I was signing up was that my home was built in 1999 and the hot water heater and the furnace were original to the house and I was worried that they were going to go soon. The rep explained that that was what this policy was for. I purchased a 12-month policy, but they threw in an extra 6 months taking it to 18 months. I filed one claim in the first year. The heat in our upstairs was not working well - rooms were not being heated evenly. After filing, calling, and having to follow up I finally got someone to come out to the house to check and I was told that it was a "duct problem" and not covered.
In April, when my original policy was about a year old, I received a call where Select was pushing me to renew. I was confused since I thought my policy was for 18 months, and they assured me that it was but if I signed up to renew then, they would throw in another 6 months free. Fair enough. I was told that if I did not want to keep the policy at any time I could get a prorated refund.
In November, my hot water heater was acting funny. When I filed a claim I was told that water pressure was not covered. I explained that it was not heating up as well and they reluctantly sent my claim through. After a week I had not heard from a contractor. I called Select. They said that I should have heard from someone and they would put it out to another contractor. I waited for several days and did not hear from the new contractor. Finally, I got the contractor's number from Select and called him. He told me he had asked Select to remove him from their list as he never received payment for the jobs he did through them. He was nice, and said he would come help me, until he learned that I was well over an hour away from him.
The last claim I filed was because my refrigerator was leaking. This time I was told that my policy did not cover leaks so this was not covered. I decided I was done and wanted to cancel. So, let's do the math: I got the original policy in May of 2014 for 18 months - paid a little over $500. Renewed in May of 2015: another 18 months. Tried to cancel in January of 2016.
Original Policy was May 2014 - November 2015 (18 months). New Policy - another 18 months - November 2015 - April 2017. My prorated refund: $21. Apparently, the additional 6 months that they throw in gets tacked on to the END of your policy - whenever that may be... not to the end of the original year... WHAT? "Fine." I say, "then I won't cancel - you have not mailed the check yet, for $21, I will keep it." And they tell me I cannot keep it, it has already been canceled.
Complaints are: They do not cover anything, trying to get a contractor to your house is unreasonably difficult, they are not honest when they tell you if you want to cancel you can get a prorated refund at any time. Now they are telling me my cancellation has already been processed, when it has not. When I originally asked to cancel I specifically asked what the amount would be which they did not provide (I have written documentation of this). Had I known it was $21, I would not have canceled. I have called three times and asked to speak with a manager - they have told me to email info@selecthomewarranty.com if I want to speak with a manager, which I did. I have not heard back from anyone.

I purchased home warranty from Select in March of 2015 for $425. On 8/31/15, our A/C stopped blowing cool air so I called Select to file a claim. They sent out their contractor and they charged me $450 to add freon which at the time I thought was ok b/c the policy does not cover freon. On 9/18/15, The contractor had to come back out b/c it still was not cooling. I was told it would just take a while. Two weeks later the system was not working at all again so I was trying to deal with the contractor and they kept no-showing and finally they started to ignore me. Keep in mind, this was in the middle of summer in Texas and I have small children.
On 9/26/15, I call Select twice and was told that a Manager would call me and they never did. On 9/28/15 and call and email the contractor and still not response. On 9/29/15 I called Select Home Warranty at 8:30 am. They said that the contractor would call them back at 10:30 am and if they didn't hear back from them, they would try again at 11 am. Select NEVER called me back. I finally gave up. My family was in a 95+ degree house and that is a serious safety concern. I called a local A/C company and they came out and said the previous company overcharged the system. The coils and compressors needed to be replaced. I received 3 bids and went with the cheapest one.
I tried to get Select to cover my repairs. They requested some documents and I provided everything they asked. They said they needed a month to review and after that month, they asked for MORE documentation. After I literally jumped through holes to provide the additional documentation, they denied my claim saying that freon is not included. I'm ok with them not covering the freon or coils that were leaking but they could have covered the compressor and labor. As if I didn't have enough stress to deal with through this. They are only in it to get your money and run. If I would have never purchased this policy, I would be $1000 ahead. They don't stand by their policy and they do not vet their contractors.

Select home warranty is not a good home warranty company. I had the worst customer experience when I submitted a claim. They never followed up through. It will take them weeks to even email me back with a response. I would give them a call inquiring about my claim and would say they would get back to me but they never did. I decided to cancel because I had to pay out of pocket to get my repairs done. When I tried to cancel they would take my information and would never call back. Until this day I have not heard back from them to get my money back. I urge you not to use this company. They take your money and they don't repair anything!

When we selected this company, they had an ad on their website offering free roof coverage, so we thought that was a good deal. Well, after 2 months in our home, we have a roof problem, and of course they tell us they don't cover it. It's why I'm so leery about these companies. They are all nice and helpful when you sign up, but when it comes to delivering on what you paid for, they come up empty.

We had a portion of the home warranty paid at closing by the seller. I found out after the fact that the tankless water heaters and our HVAC unit (because it is commercial grade) was not covered, so I cancelled. They refunded the portion I paid minus two months of warranty service and a cancellation fee to my credit card and said they would have to send the larger balance paid by the seller to the title company. It has now been almost four months and they have stopped responding to me and no check has shown up at the title company.

Our fridge broke! I called SHW right away because I was panicking. They said they will call someone right away to come to the house to try to fix it. The contractor came 2 hours later. I was so happy with how quickly they came out me. They were able to repair the fridge the same day. I saved so much money nothing went to waste! Thank you!

This company operates on borderline fraudulent practices. They lose claims, delay payment and deny for the most specious of reasons. There's an Alice In Wonderland quality of interactions with these people, who can't even use a dictionary to apply the clear and correct language of a contract. What a waste of money!

Our microwave wasn't working. We submitted a claim and heard back that someone will be in touch to see/repair the unit. When the contractor came he determined that the cost to replace the part was almost as much as getting a brand new microwave. We submitted a request to have the replacement approved. Once SHW approved the replacement it was installed right away. Great service.

We were having issues with the plumbing in our home. I submitted a claim and heard back that a plumber will be in touch with me. The plumber called later that day and scheduled an appointment to come that evening. Thank god he was able to fix the issue right away for us. I was very impressed with how quickly everything was handled.

I was having issues with my dryer. I submitted a claim online and received a response that a contractor will be in touch with me. When the contractor came out he was able to repair our dryer on the same visit. The service was quick and easy. Everyone was professional, courteous and efficient. We had some issues with our washing machine. Submitted our claim on their website and received a response from a representative that a contractor will be in touch with us. The contractor made an appt with us, came on time and prepared. He repaired the washing machine on the spot. Having this policy in place saved us hundreds and hundreds of dollars.

Had some plumbing issues recently. I contacted Select Home Warranty to file a claim. Once the claim was filed they said that someone will be in touch with me to come and make repairs. The plumber contacted me pretty quickly and set up an appointment. He was prompt, courteous and professional. Repairs were made that day and we couldn't have been happier. Impressive service.

First they could not get my contract correct. I paid for services that were not included. After many attempts to resolve, I finally got that fixed. In all of that, I apparently neglected to sign their contract. Keep in mind I had paid for this service upfront. When I called in a claim for a major pipe leak that came through the ceiling. I was told I would get assigned a claim in 24 hours. It's 26 hours later and no claim number.
Earlier I received a call and was told that I need to show proof I had paid and I needed to sign their contract. At that time I was in a memorial service for a co-worker, but had to leave abruptly so I could drive home and to sign, scan and email it back. I called them back, and was told I should have a case number within a couple hours. 5 hours later and no case number.
It's 8:15 on Saturday night - I call their "24 hour number" 3 times and it rings and rings with no answer. This is not a happy experience from the beginning when they couldn't get my contract paperwork right, now I have a burst pipe and I don't know when or if I can get it fixed unless I go outside the warranty contract and hire a plumber. So if I do that, my money was completely wasted on this warranty.

I paid extra amount in order for me to get coverage in everything in my house. Sprinkler was covered according to the sales agent, so a month later I make the claim and they can't even send me a guy to fix my sprinkler. They tell me to call someone and when they are there to call Select Home Warranty and the sparkler person needs to talk with the company then they will perhaps reimburse me... So I call someone from google and they come in. They call the warranty, explained the issue and the person in the warranty company says "Pls send the receipt of payment and send the copy to us, we will send you the check..." I send the copy via scan to claims department and they say "Oh we will only do 150 of it and not do full reimbursement," for whatever BS reasons he can tell me over the phone.
I was like "OK, fine whatever..." I wait weeks then I call them and they say "Oh we never received the email." I forward again to the claims department saying "What the hell is this then??" They say "Oops sorry. We will process, you will have the refund check in 30 days." Wait 30 days, no check, call them again and they say "Oh there is some changes within our company internally which is causing this delay. It will be mailed out shortly, apparently over a month and half was not sufficient for them to take care of one claim. Anywho I hang up again, few weeks later my upstairs heating stops blowing hot air so call them to get a service person out. They say "OK," I will get a response 24 hours. 2 days pass by nothing this home warranty company. I call them back and they tell me the reason they never followed up is because my heater is not covered. I am like "What???"
They tell me since I have 2 units the primary which they consider to be downstairs is covered not the upstairs. I have an argument "Why the hell would I cover one unit, pay extra in my coverage to begin with, get full coverage and not cover the second unit?? That make no sense..." Anywho still yet to receive the check they promised was sent 2 months ago. As of now, got sick of these people and cancelled the policy after they tried to avoid my second claim saying my heater was not covered. They didn't refund which they said they would do a full refund but they didn't in 30 days. I call them back, they say same story and that it will be partial refund cause I used the services for 3 months.
My question to the supervisor was what services have they provided me in these 3 months for them to cut any money from my refund. I have yet to receive reimbursement from the first claim... I have emails from them with time frame and they never delivered, no follow ups, liars with made-up company. I feel like...their company is so unethical that one agent from another tells you whatever comes in their mind at that moment. Horrible company. I am appalled/shocked how are they in business this way. Pls don't go through the hassle I been through and don't give them any business as you will regret it I promise you.

My experience with Select Home Warranty's (SHW) reimbursement process has been extremely poor both times that I have requested reimbursement. Beginning from the first step of requesting the reimbursement, communication from SHW has been very slow and unhelpful. After a long and unnecessarily frustrating process of receiving approval, I'm given a time frame, which is then completely ignored and disregarded by SHW.
Both times that I have asked for a reimbursement, the reimbursement was never sent until after I inquired about the overdue status. It makes me wonder if SHW is doing this intentionally to see if I would forget about my request in order to save money. I cannot comprehend why it takes so long and how SHW could be so disorganized that it doesn't do what it says it's going to do. I am regretting paying upfront for 2 years and am looking forward to changing companies when the contract is over.

On three separate occasions I have tried to get Select Home Warranty to honor its agreement to repair or replace items covered in the warranty. The first time was a stove with a malfunctioning burner. The second was the control panel on the washing machine. The last was to repair the heating in my home in the middle of below-freezing temperatures. On all occasions, they said the repairs were too expensive, so they offered $150. They argued with me for more than a week regarding the heating repairs, asking for proof of maintenance, which I provided for 3 years. They said that wasn't enough and refused to have the unit repaired. This company is fraudulent. It is a complete waste of money.

We've had an intermittent problem with one of our toilets. Once again we needed service. I called SHW and they immediately handled my problem. Not only did they give me the name of the company they contacted they also gave me the name, phone number and work order number. It gives me the ability of talking directly to the company starting a two-way conversation. The plumber explained why we continued having the toilet problem, it's an old toilet, no other plumber told us. Excellent service!

This company is the worst. The customer service is very nasty. They tell you many different things and it's not stated in the contract. If you need a home warranty please DON'T GO WITH THIS COMPANY.

Select Home Warranty Company is a scam running under the facade of home warranty. This is how they attract people: They offer very low monthly premium, with very low co-pay. They offer to cover anything you want (because they know they are not going to cover anything). They actually offer to add items other companies do not cover usually because that extra coverage will be their excuse to jack up the monthly premium at the time of cancellation.
They tell you that you need to pay on a yearly basis and the more years to add, the lower yearly premium becomes. They say if you sign up for 5 years, they will add a 5th year for free. They tell you that you can cancel on a yearly basis, and every calendar year is totally separate from the next one regardless how many claims you get paid for (which is a blatant lie, they add all the claims they paid, they jack up the monthly premium, they add a cancellation fee, and the rest will be your refund). This company is based in New Jersey, the way they run their business and interact with their clients; I truly believe this is a mob operation.
This is how they hit you with their scam: When you call for a repair, they set you up with a repair service out of your area, so the serviceman will decline the work order. Many repairmen do not have contract with this company, therefore selective service rep will ask to get your own, and they will reimburse you. The way they decide how much they will pay you depend on their estimate of the remaining age of the item. For example, if your dishwasher is 5 years old, they will estimate the remaining value arbitrarily, and they pay you according to their own baseless logic. If you sadly agree to get reimbursed, it takes them 3 months to send you a check after you call and email them 10 times.
They can decline anything because their contract is very vague. When I decided to cancel the contract after they declined some services, they made me talk to one of their rep (Mr. **), who acted like a soprano character with a New Yorker accent. He offered to pay me the rejected services ($200) on one condition; not to cancel the contract. 6. I will tell you what happened to me to understand the cancellation scam.
I paid 5 years contract: $2540, based on $508/year ($42.33/ month). They paid me $268 in claims. When I cancelled after 14 months, they calculated their money based on: - $63.33 monthly premium (instead of 42.33 when I purchased the policy) x 14 months = $886.62. - $268 paid claims in the first year. - Cancellation fee $75. - The total money I owed them at the time of cancellation was $1247.62, and they agreed to refund me $1292.48. The way it was explained to me the first when I sign up, whatever happen in a single year does not carry over to the next year, in this case they should have paid me back: $2540 - ($ 508 for the first year + $84.66 for the additional 2 months) = $1947.34. They will pay me only 1292.48. In this case they scammed me for $654.86. I cancelled on 10-12-15, and I still have not received any money.

They said that they will have a repair man be in touch with me to come and take a look. When the repair man came he said that a part needs to be replaced and ordered/approved. Once the part was approved by the company the repair man came and replaced it. The cost of the replacement part was a lot more than my deductible so I saved a lot of money.

Wow! Where should I begin. I have never written a review in the past for anything. But this one is so bad that I had to write this for others. I called to follow up on an existing claim for a repair and had a terrible experience not being able to talk anyone over the phone. Five consecutive phone calls were disconnected as soon as the phone start ringing to reach the claims department (option 3). So, I tried option 2 (new claim) twice with the same hanging up issue. Then tried option 1 (new product, etc) and got an immediate answer from the customer support person who then transferred the call to the claims department. What'd you expect? Of course, they hung up twice in a row.
The third call, I got the person's name and explained the issue that the claims department rep keeps hanging up the call without even knowing who is calling and for what reason. Finally, Richard (from option 1) transferred my call directly to the person in the claims department and someone finally answered the call on my 10th trial. Why does select home warranty hire such a lazy staff who don't even pick up the phone calls from customers? For the record, I started calling select home warranty at 11:15am and found someone to talk to at 11:35am on Sunday, January 10, 2016. But, my experience during the week has been good with the company.

We purchased a plan back a few months ago. The first time we had to use it, our AC had gone out. It took them a week to send someone out to check to see what the problem was. The AC tech submitted the claim to them and they denied the claim. When we signed up we were told that no matter what the issue was it would be covered. Obviously not. I purchased a home warranty through Select Home Warranty several months ago. I submitted a claim for repairing my dishwasher that was malfunctioning and still not operating as it was intended. I contacted the company and filed a claim to which they stated the company ATX Appliance King would come address the concern. They never came to my home and did not do a follow up on the service. I spoke with Dennis pertaining to all the phone calls made to request services to which he continued to not address my concerns.
I filed the request on 11/12/2014. He stated they are open 24 hours a day. I advised that I contacted the company on 01/03/2016 and 01/02/2016 to which I received a gentlemen stating they were the afterhours answering service and they would leave a message to call back. I have heard this on a number of occasions to which we NEVER receive a call back EVER! I am on the phone with them as I am typing this and have been for over 15 minutes and this is my 8th phone call today to which I still do not have a resolution to my problem.

I purchased a home warranty from Select Warranty in Oct 2015. I was amazed at all they covered even roof repairs. The salesperson negotiated a price of $350 for a total of 15 months which had to be broken down into 3 monthly installments. The other option was around $45 a month for a year with 2 months free for a total of 14 months. After looking over everything I decided to go with the first option.
Well I get into Dec after having a cold night and my heater isn't working. Not to worry because I have a home warranty which covers HVAC systems... wrong. I submitted a claim and the first tech did a no call no show. The second tech came out about 4 days after the initial claim which wasn't his fault. So the tech looks at my system and determined a part of the control panel was not working and needed to be replaced. So he called the company in front of me, and I hear him responding to some questions.
First thing he responded to was $260 for the part and $60 for the labor. I also had to pay a $45 fee for the tech to come out. Then I hear him say the unit is in good condition and all other parts seem to be working well. Next I hear the filter is dirty. He hung up with them and the company told him they would review the claim and call him back. Well after about 5 hrs of not hearing anything, I decided to check my email. In a email sent the coverage was denied due to maintenance problems and I was advised to have the tech clean my system.
Of course I was puzzled by the email and gave them a call. I talked to someone who basically repeated the email. I told them that the tech never one time said that the filter caused my control panel to break. The rep was very nonchalant and told me it would not be covered. I immediately asked for a refund after understanding the company is a complete ripoff and will try and come up with any excuse to deny a claim.
I called the service tech to confirm he did not say they caused the break. And he confirmed never saying that. He also never said my system was dirty and how dirty the filter was. As a matter of fact filters are meant to get dirty that is their purpose. So after I in total paid almost 300 to the warranty company who sent me a $124 refund. Oh I forgot to mention they charge a $75 cancellation fee plus they deduct money paid by them to the tech. Please do your research before purchasing a home warranty especially from this company. This company is a complete fraud who tell nothing but lies in a effort to steal your money and deny claims. I have reported them to the bbb and they are still telling lies. I'm going to keep fighting until this is resolved and this company face some type of consequence for their illegal practices.

I purchased a warranty from SHW in July 2015. $399 for 14 months of coverage, well don't think you are getting a good deal. The warranty is a joke. No matter what issue I call them for they say it is not covered. They have their contract written so no matter what your repair they can say the item is not covered. The latest is my kitchen faucet. The one before that was my water heater. They paid for the part but would not pay to have it installed. I'm still waiting for the supervisor to return my call. It's only been 3 months. They said he was on vacation and would return my call when he returned. They must have one heck of a vacation package for their employees. I have had a lot of problems with my washing machine. I called SHW and they had someone come down to me to inspect the machine. The technician found that a part needed to be replaced. He ordered the part and came back to make the repairs when it arrived. I saved a lot of money with SHW. The cost to repair the machine was significantly higher than the $45 deductible. The service was completed in a timely manner, the work was outstanding and the employees from both SHW and the repair company were amazing.

The pool pump was not working. I called Select Home Warranty and they took a lot of information down about the pool. They also said that they will send a pool repairman out to me to come and take a look. When the pool repairman came out, he was able to repair the pool pump. He came with all the necessary tools. He was polite and friendly. I was very happy with the outcome of the service.

When the contractor came he said that the part needed to fix the disposal was almost as expensive as purchasing a new one. The contractor got the approval from Select Home Warranty to replace the garbage disposal. I was very happy with the process.

The contractor came and was very polite and pleasant. He inspected the dishwasher and based on inspection he saw that there was a part that needed to be replaced. This is the worst home warranty company I have done business with. I've used four other companies before, which came with former house purchases. All were wonderful in handling problems expediently. After three months into the warranty with Select, I came home to a massive water leak from my water heater. Of course I called them immediately, and I was told that it would take up to 48 hours to respond to my claim. I'VE NEVER BEEN TOLD BY A WARRANTY COMPANY THAT IT WOULD TAKE 48 HOURS TO RESPOND TO A CLAIM! And I had water in my workshop and no hot water. It took hours on the phone with them and talking to a manager to get an expedient response. Then I found it was likely not covered, even though I had the Platinum plan (after calling my former companies to inquire, I found out it would have been covered with them...).
After canceling this warranty, I was told it would take up to 30 days to refund me my money. It is now day 45, and still nothing. No response to my email inquiry about the refund, and so again another phone call, where I found out that they want to charge me $75 to cancel this worthless warranty, despite my horrible experience and no timely refund. And they also increased the monthly amount, from what I paid, that they are deducting from my refund. The customer service every time I've called (which is numerous at this point) has been awful. At this point I'm still waiting for my refund.

I might as well went in my backyard and set $400 on fire... After almost a year of having my policy I called their claims department when my heater started functioning improperly. It took them weeks to even send a technician out (mind you, it was December). The first technician they assigned to me, after not receiving a call from them (which is what "should" happen), I attempted to reach out to them. The number was disconnected. I called SHW and they said they would "expedite" my claim in order to get me a technician to my home ASAP.
Almost two weeks later, when a technician finally did come out and inspect the heating system, they determined the system needed to be replaced. The heating chamber was cracked (meaning the entire system needed to be replaced). In my "contract", the "heat exchanger", along with a lengthy list of other things, was not covered, SHW would not cover a penny. Every person I spoke to when I called was either not helpful, seemed aggravated, or seemed like they were going out of their way to not assist. This company is a con. DON'T GIVE THEM A PENNY!

My microwave began to spark so I called in to file a claim. The company requested pictures of the microwave and I submitted everything they asked for. My microwave is a built-in and now this company says it is a countertop and will not honor the claim. I have spoken to several people and have not been able to resolve the matter. I had a 2 year contract and they are a bunch of liars and hide details in contract. While the contract states the words that protects them, it does not have it clear for you to understand. I cancelled within a year, having another full year and my refund for a full year was $80.01. So when they get you to sign in, they have a lower rate to sign up. But when you see how much they don't cover and do want to cancel like I did, they up the rate to a 47.50 a month instead of what price you paid divided by the number of months. So if you cancel be ready to get nothing or little money. They never clarified this information at signing that if I cancel the rate would be different. Or many other things regarding coverage. They don't explain and when you call and complain or do something about it, you end up losing. So they are the worst company, I would never recommend them at all.

The Evap fan motor was noisy and malfunctioning and the tech that came out said it could fail at any time! Select told me there was nothing they could do until it breaks down! Put in a claim for a refrigerator almost a month ago. After numerous calls, I get a Email that they will only pay $150.00 towards the repair. I had to pay besides the deductible the difference. Finally the fridge will be fixed tomorrow. The repair co. I was never told that a (3) month will determine how much they will pay. Called today, on hold for a hour and a half, finally a ring and it just kept on ringing. No one ever picked up. This co. is no good. I have had numerous warranty co., I took this one because of the $45.00 deductible. I guess you pay for what you get. Will call my credit card company to stop payments.

We have had a claim for a broken dishwasher open for 2 weeks now and continue to get a runaround for having it fixed. We have been told a supervisor would call us on 7 occasions yet no one ever calls us back. I highly discourage you from signing a policy with them.

In Nov 2015 my water heater starting leaking. I put in a claim and SHW denied it claiming water heaters are not covered, only the electronics and controls. When I got the policy in general it says "water heater". Do not waste time and money dealing with this scam of a company. Dec 2015, my hot water recirculator went bad and I submitted another claim. It took 4 days for them to realize that this is not my hot water heater this time, because they were ignoring my requests until I got someone to understand the words. I am not happy with this service.
