I have been very happy with how my washing machine claim was handled. The contractor was sent to my home in a timely fashion. He was thorough and explained what had happened and what was needed to be done to make repairs. My repairs were completed the same day and I have had no problem since then with my machine and that was 3 months ago.

I had issues with my dishwasher not draining properly. I called SHW and the representative on the phone took down all my claim information. I was told that contractor will be calling me to set up an appointment. My dishwasher was repaired within 2 days. Thank you!

I highly recommend Select Home Warranty. When I filed my a/c claim this past summer Select made sure to have a contractor sent to my home right away. The contractor was professional and knowledgeable. He quickly found my problem and made the repairs the same day. I am very happy with my warranty.

I have been with Select Home Warranty for more than a year. So far it is a bitter experience. Listing some of them: They are pathetic in understanding any issue that you might report. They sent me gas technician when I said the stove is not lighting up properly. They should have known it is mostly related to electricity after learning the make and model of my stove. None in their team is knowledgeable to understand your issue. They just assign and you end up paying more service call fee as the shift in the root cause will cause service call fee again and again. None in their team is customer centric. My gas stove issue isn't resolved for last 1 month. I have to follow-up every single time to alert them nothing is happening and then they realize the customer is in waiting mode.
Their cancellation policy is a big time scam. If you are canceling, you have to pay the original price that you would have paid for each claim if you had no warranty but calling the technician individually. You tend to stay with them whatever your choice is and whatever your opinion about them. For some claims, they don't spend time in analyzing the issue, instead they throw you some dollars and ask you fix it. Instead they could ask make and model and see if there is a easy fix. It happened for my Microwave door issue.
They don't follow-up with the contractor instead the customer has to do. I had to follow-up with the contractor to send his diagnosis instead of the Select guys to do the same. You end up doing their work and they just sit and wait for your call. It happened for my gas stove issue (still not resolved for more than a month). When I reported why you don't own the delay, the Director of the call center said it is not his issue even though he realize I am waiting on it for more than 3 weeks after the first technician visit. If you really want a home warranty, better choose a good company other than Select Home Warranty. They are a big time scam. I wish I could cancel my contract, but they had a big catch in cancellation. Better stay away from them.

My pool heater was not working. Select Home Warranty sent a pool contractor to my house who said I needed a new thermostat. The pool contractor called Select right away and got the new thermostat authorized. The repairs were made as soon as we got the go ahead from Select. I am a satisfied customer.

This company is the worst home warranty company ever!! They should NOT be listed on the top 10 home warranty companies. I just moved in my house last year and my heating has failed me this year. They refuse to cover my system because I don't have 3 years of maintenance records for the system. How could I if I only lived there 1 year. I have had inspections and maintenance invoices for the time that I have moved in and they are still refusing to cover the repairs. That is something that needs to be upfront in writing that they will not cover it regardless of the time you lived in the home. Will be canceling them out ASAP!! Do NOT USE THEM!

I filed a claim for my microwave. The contractor said that it was more expensive to fix it than to buy a new one. Select Home Warranty authorized a comparable replacement to be purchased and a reimbursement would be sent to me. I just received my reimbursement in the mail today. Thank you!

I filed a claim for my garage door. Select Home Warranty hired a garage door contractor to come to my home and make repairs. A part ended up needing replacing which Select approved right away. As soon as the part came in the contractor came back to make repairs. I was satisfied with the outcome of my claim.

I filed a claim when my oven was not preheating. Select Home Warranty hired a contractor who said that my heating element needed to be replaced. My claim was approved for the repairs the next day and the contractor came back with the part. I was pleased with the quick turnaround of service.

I purchased the Home Warranty so if I did have a failure with a major appliance in my home it would be covered. Well I had a failure with my septic system and they sent a septic company out to repair the problem. Come to find out the septic pump that pumps the clear water out on the lawn failed and it was going to cost approx. 850.00 to repair. Select Home Warranty was only going to pay 200.00 towards the repair. Why the hell did I buy the warranty if the repairs were not going to be covered in full? This is a very shady company and I would not recommend doing any business with them.
I had my contract for little less than a year and want to cancel it and they would only offer 200.00 prorated refund for the remaining term of the contract which was for 2.5 yrs. and I paid 850.00. The gentleman told me I should have read my contract cause it stated there is a cap of 200.00 towards this repair. I went back and read it and nowhere in there did it state that. Don't waste your money with this company. They are a bunch of crooks.

My garage door was not working. I called Select Home Warranty and a representative took down information and processed my claim. I was then informed that a technician will be in touch with me to schedule an appointment. A technician came out to my home the next day to assess the issue. He replaced a small part in the garage door opener and it's working perfectly now. Thank you.

I was very impressed with how Select Home Warranty handled my a/c claim. A contractor was dispatched to my home and a diagnosis and repair was completed in the same visit. I was told what the exact issue was and what was done to correct it. I was provided with maintenance tips and encouraged to maintain the unit quarterly to avoid any further problems. The diagnosis was thorough and complete.

I called Select Home Warranty regarding a problem with my range hood. Initially they said they do not cover range hoods, but when I showed them the policy where the sales guy included that as a additional item, they agreed. They then said they will pay only $75 for replacement or repair when my hood which is 2 years old costs $2500. When I called they are now saying that they offer only builder grade replacements. Their policy clearly states that similar capacity and efficiency which they are refusing to adhere to. Stay away from these guys.

I had some problems with the water heater. I spoke with someone at Select Home Warranty who processed my claim and said that they will have someone contract me to schedule a visit. The contractor ended up showing up 2 days later which was a little frustrating. The overall experience was ok. I am happy with my coverage other than the contractor taking too long to come to my home.

Select Home Warranty sent a contractor when I filed my claim online for the leaking sink faucet. The plumber who scheduled the appointment with me was prompt and courteous. He explained what the issue was and what he would be doing to repair it. He also guaranteed his work in case something happened. Select Home Warranty clearly uses very seasoned professionals to do their repairs as I have had no issues since the repair was first completed.

I requested a quote from Select Home Warranty last night. My wife and I decided to go in a different direction this morning. I have received FIVE phone calls from Select Home Warranty today while at work. Every time it is a different representative and every time I have asked to have my name and number removed from their list. The last representative that called me was rude and a complete jerk.
I explained the situation to him and he angrily retorted that I must have received calls from other companies and was taking it out on him. I assured him that I was not mistaken (it's kinda hard to miss the same number showing up in your recent calls), I wanted my number removed from their list, and that I was unsure how anyone could do business with this company. Their representatives are rude and pushy. I am glad that I did not use this company for a home warranty. If you like being bullied and interrupted, then this company is just for you. Otherwise, it is probably a good idea to go with someone else.

We just purchased an apartment in Chicago & per contract agreements the seller bought us Select Home Warranty for the property with a one year contract. Within a couple of weeks after moving in our heating system was not working so I made a claim with SHW on 10/18/16. Eight days past & no one calls to schedule an appointment to get my heater fixed. I had to call them. They stated that there was a shortage of contractors in my area & that my best bet is to get it fixed myself then send them an invoice. They also instructed me to tell my contractor to call their authorization department to complete. Needless to say I'm doing their work for them at this point.
I find it really hard to believe there is a shortage of contractors in Chicago. I needed my heater fixed because it was getting cold so I called Four Seasons Heating & Cooling & they were wonderful. The contractor said they don't call the warranty company (go figures). So after everything gets fixed (mind you Select HW still hasn't called me for updates on my claim) I send them my invoice. The total invoice came out to be $328.00. Do you think I get fully reimbursed for that? NOPE. I only get reimbursed $150.00. So because I cannot provide three years of maintenance history & that it may have had previous repairs, I only get $150.00 back. After I sent my invoice twice they have to send a reimbursement form via mail then I have to send that back via mail then they said they send the $150.
All in all this is going to take forever to not even get half back. The fact that they could not get a contractor out here & make me wait eight days to find out shows incompetence. I had to get a contractor on my own so I can use my heater. The fact that our apartment is not brand new & the appliances listed has probably been worked on before tells me that this policy was for nothing.

This is the worst company I've ever encountered. They lied to my husband and me multiple times and did not do what they said they would do. It's too long of a story to explain all of the details; but, the bottom line is that we ended up not only paying them $400 for our home warranty but paying over $2000 for a new air conditioning unit that 3 contractors stated met the requirements for being covered by our home warranty in accordance with Select Home Warranty's contract. We never got a dime from Select Home Warranty. We were also told by the contractor Select Home Warranty sent that they are one of the worst warranty companies, never covered anything, and don't pay their contractors. I would HIGHLY DISCOURAGE anyone from giving them their hard earned money to misuse.

I filed a claim via the Select Home Warranty website for my oven. A contractor was sent to my home. Upon further inspection the contractor said that a part needed to be replaced. The part was approved by Select Home Warranty and as soon as the part came in the contractor returned to my home to install it. The overall claim process has been very smooth.

My nightmare experience with Select Home Warranty. When I had my first call for a repair. They had never sent me any paperwork. I have never signed anything before that point either. I was told at that point that what I need it repaired, a leaking hot water heater had a clause that water leaks were not covered. Now if I haven't gotten the paperwork ahead of time I would have known about this clause but I had never received the paperwork nor signed and returned it.
My next complaint is that they claim they had technicians in my area, however for hot water heater, and another claim for my refrigerator - they did not. I had to secure my own technicians and pay higher fees and was never reimbursed. For my refrigerator they assigned me four different technicians 3 of which never answered their phones and the fourth said I was out of the area. Even though my refrigerator repair which was over $800 was a covered repair, I was told of a clause that since it was only three months into my policy they would only pay a little over $100 towards my claim. This is outrageous saying I already paid over $300 upfront for the policy. And never fully signed the agreement. When asked about a refund they talked about a pro-rated refund with a $75 fee deducted. I'm like "for what?"
I have received no service. Matter of fact I have had to work how to get my own repairs look into. Talking to someone in retention I was actually hung up on and refused to talk to someone higher. About a month later I call about another claim only to find out that they actually cancelled my policy behind my back! Supposedly they sent me a $50 refund check. So I spend $300, get no service and get $50 back? My Goal whenever I talk to them was to make some kind of arrangement. But they were have no dealings with me. I felt so disrespected with this company. I feel like they're out to take people's money. I would not suggest doing business with them. I will be filing complaints with the Better Business Bureau, and the Attorney General.

The plumber came within hours of calling me and the drains were cleared that day. I have recommended Select Home Warranty to all my friends, coworkers, family and neighbors.

I filed a claim for my stove. Someone from SHW was very polite and took down all my claim information. They said that they will find a contractor in my area and have them come out to my home. My ceiling fan went out in July, 2016, I put a claim in, they said they could not fix it and I would receive $75 refund after I send in my receipt of purchasing a new fan. I turned in my receipt and they emailed me a reimbursement claim form to sign. I signed this form on August 31, 2016. As of today October 31, 2016, I still have not received my refund. I also spoke to Charles ** again today for the third time, saying he will check on my refund and to call him later today. I'm getting the run around also just like the lady from Richmond VA. I regret I joined Select Home Warranty Company.

Please don't waste your time and money!!! Select Home Warranty denied air condition repair/replacement coverage. All documentations requested by insurance company were provided, which included maintenance record for 2014, 2015, and 2016. Record show that in 2014 and 2016 coil was cleaned and less than 0.5 lb of freon added. Insurance company reason to deny coverage was: "AC was previously repaired because freon was added."
Contractor who provided service for my AC for the past 3 years denied any repair or problem with AC functioning. Per contractor minimum freon was added after coil was cleaned to adjust a pressure and this is normal process of tune up, and no problem with freon leak was detected. I also consulted with several independent contractor via the phone and email regarding how much freon are requiring to cover a leak. And the answer was if it's less than 1 lb, it is NOT a leak and minimum of freon can be added during maintenance for several reasons. Please don't waste your time and money!!!

A friend of mine recommended that I try SHW when I told her how unhappy I was with my old company. I signed up with SHW and a few months later I had my first a/c claim. I was a little worried with how everything was going to get handled because my previous company always gave me a hard time when it came to claims. My mind was quickly put at ease when SHW sent a contractor right away to my home. The contractor was prompt, professional and very thorough. Something I had never experienced in the past. The repairs to my a/c were completed the same day! Something again that never happened to me. After my claim I was so happy and grateful to my friend for recommending SHW to me. We had a problem with not getting enough air from the vent in our bedroom. It was fine everywhere else, but not in the bedroom. I called Select and it did take awhile for them to get someone, but it wasn't their fault. I had to call them a couple of times, but every time I did they were so nice and helpful. We finally got a contractor to our house and they were absolutely wonderful. We have 3 big dogs who are very possessive of our house and these contractors took the time to meet our dogs. Within 3 days, it got cold and when we turned our heat on...nothing. Oh boy.
I dreaded calling Select again so soon, but I did. I even asked for the same contractors. I explained that it was because of our dogs and they were so understanding. They sent the call to them and in a day, I have my contractors here to work on our heating unit. I am very pleased with this company. I'm glad I went with the 3 year contract, which made the contractor price on $45...compared to $60-$65 with other companies. (I must admit, after I purchased my warranty from them I got nervous reading bad review after bad review. I am very happy to say they are wrong.)

If I could leave 0 stars if I could. This has to be the shadiest company I have ever had to deal with. Failed to disclose a lot of information that was on the contract. When I called to speak to a representative, I was yelled at, disrespected, and even hung up on. STAY AS FAR AWAY FROM THIS CRAPPY COMPANY! Not to mention they said they didn't charge my card $400 and they had charged my card immediately. Never provided a cancellation notification or anything. NEVER AGAIN!

Select Home Warranty sent a sprinkler contractor to repair the sprinkler system at home. The contractor was professional, courteous and on time. I was thoroughly informed of what caused the problem and what was done to repair it. I have since then had no issues with the sprinklers. I highly recommend Select Home Warranty. They hire only the best contractors.

First problem I experienced with Select Home Warranty was when my dryer broke. They kept sending companies that didn't service my area. I live in a very populated suburb of Chicago. Then they said "get your own repair person" and they would reimburse me. So after a week of waiting for responses from them for a company I went out to get my own.
It's been 3 months now and I still have not received my refund, which, by the way, is only $150.00 of the almost $300 in repairs. NOW, my fridge broke and they say they cover refrigerators but when you look at two parts of the contract they contradict each other. One says all brands are covered and then on another page it list pretty much everything and anything a refrigerator has and says they are not covered. This company was a big mistake for me. I have friends who use other home warranty companies and I will never use this company again but will go with the other company that most of my friends use.

I called back in September regarding my dishwasher, they sent someone to fix it but the person just stated what I had told select home the problem and took a charge of $45 from me telling me that Select Home will contact me within 48 hrs to resolve the problem. 2 weeks later I called back because they didn't call me back or email or anything regarding the problem.
When I called they told me that I was getting back cash reimbursement of $92 and later got a email saying it was only $75. I called back because I was told that someone will be coming back to fix my problem - when I asked the lady she couldn't give any proper answer and put me on hold for about 7 minutes. She came back on the phone saying since my unit was old they will give me $75 for cash back.
All I want was my unit to be fixed and I asked her if that $75 as going to cover my repair but she kept on saying I was getting back $75 so I told her that I will record her saying that $75 was going to cover my repair. She said she didn't want to be recorded. If that was the problem then why am I being recorded without letting me know and it was OK for them to do it but wasn't OK for me to do so. She put me back on hold and told me the manager will call be back and when I asked to be answered. Now she keeps on saying the manager was busy and hung up the call on me.

My dishwasher issues have been handled professionally and quickly. I submitted my claim via their website and a contractor was in touch with me within the next 24 hours. After he came out to inspect the dishwasher he immediately saw the issue and repaired it on the spot. I was happy because a lot of contractors I have used in the past with other warranty companies used to come out, diagnose the problem, collect a fee, and then schedule another appointment to come out and make the repairs and collecting yet another fee. This contractor was honest and professional.

On April 2015 I purchased a home warranty for $699.99 from Select and I am very disappointed with this company's services. I had my compressor on my AC unit go out on the last of August 2016 in the peak of Virginia summer heat. They never secured a contractor to help me, I had to obtain one on my own. They only offered $150. towards a $3000. repair. The customer service reps were some of the rudest people I have ever encountered and were no help in resolving any issues. I requested a refund on September 9, 2016 and received a confirmation email on September 14, stating that the check was processing and that I would receive the check by mail in 14-30 days. Today is October 13, 2016 and I have not received a check. I have sent emails and made phone calls and was given the runaround.
I spoke with a supervisor on yesterday by the name of Charles ** who assured my that he would call today by noon with some news on what was going on with the refund check. Of course I have not heard from him and had to call the company myself. I was told that they would expedite the request to accounts payable but that it would take an additional 14-30 days to process and then additional time to receive the check by mail. Please BEWARE of this company. They do not stand by their word or support their customers.

I bought this policy on 4/2016. On 6/28/2016 I make a claim to repair my washer. The first technician refused to come. They picked someone 1 hr away from my house and I had to wait more than a month to get my washer fixed. On August there was something wrong with my electric panel. NOBODY came to fix it. I called so many times, I emailed so many times, that I got frustrated. I called to get my money back since they don't have companies in VA and they allowed me to cancel the policy and even though it was not my fault, they make me paid penalty fee. Bottom line my refund will be $8.
People need respect, I was with 2-10 never had a problem, I used American Shield never had a problem. The only reason I change it was because they were so persistent and offer me to include the roof. But why I was punished, when it was their fault? They don't have vendor in VA, they don't answer emails. I sent more than 15 emails and only got the automatic response back. I never deal with so many incompetent people in my life. I don't recommend this company, this company is a nightmare.

I have never had such a bad experience with a warranty company before. Not only have they denied multiple claims for things that are standard (the electricity went out to my pool equipment), it is a NIGHTMARE getting on the phone with them. There's always a hold - and if you try to bring your own contractor in, it's a million times worse. You're on hold for 20+ minutes only to be passed around from person to person with no one who has authority to make a decision. And then they deny your claim because he suggests it might have been caused by a storm (but no proof). I would NEVER buy from them again.

This company denied my claim, even though they were told by the air conditioner tech that THEY hired that I had maintained my unit properly. They hung up on me repeatedly and were rude. I have 2 small children in the home that got sick due to the heat. I live in Texas and it has been very hot. I called every day since I made the claim. Everyday I was told a manager would call me. They never did. I only spoke with a manager after waiting 6 days and refusing to hang up until I spoke with one. DO NOT BE FOOLED by this company. I would not even give them one star.

Spend a little more and stay away from SELECT HOME WARRANTY. I have had them for a year and had 3 claims. They denied one and paid the absolute minimum on the other two. I have been in my house for almost 2 years and they said that because I don't have 3 years of maintenance on my heater they will only cover 150 dollars and not the 1500 that it would cost. They have horrible customer service. Just ask a service provider which company is the best to deal with. I have talked to a couple now because I am shopping around and all of them state that SELECT HOME WARRANTY is horrible and they hate dealing with them. In fact the latest person that was going to repair my heater stated they are no longer going to deal with them because they pay for nothing and he loses money.
When I called to cancel my plan because I was fed up with the service the customer service stated (happily) that they will cancel my policy and any claim that they paid during the year they will take out of my prorated return check, so now I paid for a year of service with them and any money that they paid me during that time they are taking back. This is the first review I have ever done on a company. That is how upset I am. Just want to inform people that there are much better choices and not to make the mistake I did.

I would say that Select Home has it put together. I had about 6 interactions with them from the first time I put a claim in. During those times I felt confident in the company and in the reps I spoke to on the phone. By the end of the claim my refrigerator was working again.

I read reviews and noticed the 24 hour response time, and thought this would be a great home warranty company. I loved the $45 co-pay, where we have always had a $75 or $100 copay with our other company. The salespeople were very quick to answer phone to make a sell. We put our primary residence on plan first. After a month or so went by, decided to add our second home. We paid for 2 years upfront because of the discount and received 6 months free. I just tried to use them for the first time.
(Plumbing) Hot water in master tub would not shut off. I requested a claim twice to get this fixed. It's now been 2 weeks and was told that service techs are not responding to service call. I tried to call and complain and get service but kept being put on hold. I was finally offered $150 to get it fixed myself, by the cancellation department. Really? At this point, I'd like to cancel both policies and go back to American Home Shield. We have used them throughout the years and never had an issue like this. When I tried to cancel, someone needs to call me back. I wonder if I'll hear from them like I have the service request. DON'T USE THIS COMPANY.

I have submitted claims and they just keep me on hold and when I need to speak to any manager, I am put onto a Voice message machine probably with no real manager. I have left about 10 VMs to this person supposed to be the manager called Jermly. I had a a/c problem. They sent someone out. The people were not through and had no desire to complete the job. I hire someone else for second option. They determined the coil & condenser were bad. I had them called SHW, lady on phone said to get work done then submit paid invoice since these things were covered. I did and now SHW says it was a freon leak and it is not covered. Freon goes through Coil & condenser so it was a freon leak and NOTHING was covered. Nothing says it was a freon leak, and I had lines tested for leaks and there was no leak.
Now I am out $3700 and SHW offers me $150 to go away. Then they call back after I complained to BBB and offered me $500 to go away. It states in their contract that the coil and condenser are covered, so they should cover them. There are more loopholes in this contract than I have ever seen. Next it was I need to provide back 3 years worth of a/c service before they would cover it. They don't cover ANYTHING. It's all a SCAM.

I filed a claim via the SHW website for my sprinkler system. I was notified by email that a contractor will call to schedule an appt. I have been very dissatisfied with my experience. We moved into this house two years ago with aging appliances so we felt a home warranty was necessary to protect ourselves. Our A/C unit has gone out and their contractor has recommended that it be replaced. However, Select will not replace the unit because I cannot provide service records for it.
I have explained that we have only been in the house for two years. The unit was serviced before we moved in and has been serviced once (between seasons) since we have been here, but of course I don't have the paperwork from the one time we were responsible for having this service done. It seems to me that they are just looking for a way not to replace the unit, but they sure didn't hesitate to take my fee to purchase the coverage. I would recommend select home warranty as a good home warranty company to have. I placed a service request on Tuesday at 10 am in the morning. The same day they had a plumber to look at the water heater. The heater was not heating up properly. After about an hour at my house the plumber found the issue and he fixed it. The whole thing cost me a service call fee and a little time. Well worth it.

Go anywhere else but here! We took out a 2 year Gold policy with this home warranty company. I worked in the insurance industry for 15 years and knew the right questions to ask. I took notes, recorded names of contacts and kept copies of all correspondence. Then recently, my older but well cared for HVAC stopped working in the heat of the summer on a Saturday and it took until Monday evening just to get a call from a technician who then scheduled an appointment 2 days later.
After wasting much time, this very frustrating company told us that we were not covered and that the salesman of the policy (Jeff who is conveniently no longer with the company) had not been accurate in his interpretation of the information. Not acceptable!!! If you should have a claim, you will be directed to call centers and individuals working from home who have no knowledge of your policy and/or coverages. If you call the actual offices in New Jersey, you will be on hold for lengthy periods of time or transferred to employees whose v-mail boxes are full and then become disconnected. No one will ever return your call. Customer Service is not a priority and is definitely not a term Select Home Warranty has incorporated into its business plan.

My furnace was leaking water in my garage, a large amount. The first person I got said I did not have my furnace covered. She transferred me to some to cancel my contract. He said I did have coverage and transferred me back. After quite a while with her she finally said she would look for contractors, email me their names and I could call them to set up a time and see who wanted the job. She did not send names and my garage is still very wet. My boxes that were packed of a move have wet bottoms and I will have to repack. I called back and cancelled my account and was told it would take 20 days to refund my money. I thought that was too long. She arrogantly told me to read in my contract at such and such a place and it will tell me just that. All, except the first person trying to save the account, were not knowledgeable and needed attitude adjustments.

I got home warranty policy with effective date July 2016 in Atlanta. In September, I submitted a claim as one AC unit was not cooling. The contractor did not show up. I got my own contractor and paid for diagnostic. The evaporator coil needed to be replaced. I called them. Claims department told me to submit the quotation and someone will contact you. No contact was made by them for 2 days after quotation was submitted. Part was under manufacturer warranty, so I was getting them to approve replacement. I called them again to learn they do not cover labor. I had to make 10 phone calls to cancel my policy. Will see if they will really reimburse my money for the remaining contract.

Based on reviews, I bought, a year ago, a contract. In my experience, Select Home Warranty is not ethical. They have promised numerous times to reimburse me on a microwave and despite at least 3 promises, no check has arrived. I am, frankly, extremely frustrated. And, on a dishwasher, I had to call my own repair person, as we were leaving the next day. I called them first. They maintain I should have gotten their permission. I did -- and the bill has a full diagnosis. I have received nothing. I would not recommend this company to anyone, alas. I have not ever written a complaint before, but I wanted to warn others.

I have had outrageous service and experience with this company. They were first unable to provide a company or technician who would agree to service on my AC. I found my own company instead, who on 2 separate occasions carried out work on the AC. Before doing so, the tech got verbal approval from Select Home Warranty and work was carried out. The second call was NOT approved by Select; they stated that the work was a maintenance issue, involving cleaning of the condenser. I disputed this. However, the company said that the first tech did not receive approval (that is untrue) and that this tech said the issue involved "serious" cleaning. That is also completely untrue as the first tech had no knowledge of any cleaning required and this is not mentioned on his invoice. From start to finish, this experience with Select Home has been disturbing, and I regard the service I received (or did NOT receive) to be unprofessional and dishonest.

I wish I could give them ZERO STARS. I signed up with them on June 23. They say I have one free month to "try them out" while I cannot use their service for the first month. Okay. I filed my first service request on Aug 29 for the A/C not working properly. Today, Sept 1, I am told that there is no technician available for minimum a week. I am also told that if the A/C needs additional Freon, that is not covered. If the Freon is leaking, that is not covered. See attached contract where it says that the A/C, Cooling is in the covered list.
I asked him what I would get back (prorated) if I cancel today. Somehow, according to their math, from June 23rd to Sept 1 it makes it 3 months. Well, in that case, I said, "don't cancel just yet." He says, "It has already been canceled (while he was having a conversation with me - within 2 minutes)." That is not all. I paid total of $374.99 for the year, and for 2 months and one week, I am going to be charged over $200. Even the phone system is rigged so that it is difficult to get to get help. THESE GUYS ARE OUT TO MAKE MONEY AND CHEAT THEIR CUSTOMERS. DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY WITH THEM. Do not enroll with www.selecthomewarranty.com.

I signed up Select Home Warranty a month ago for 3 years when they called me and offered good rate. Unfortunately my water heater broke after a month and called for service on Friday. I was told I've to wait until Monday for someone to come and check it. I waited until Monday evening and called the plumber they assigned me. No answer. I called Select Home Warranty again and I was told they are going to assign a different plumber. I called that plumber again and no answer. I called Select Home Warranty again and they told me I've wait until next business day. I waited 3 days and they did not still give me any confirmation. I'm really fed up this service and cancelling.

The repairman said that the cost to repair was more than a new one so SHW approved a brand new microwave. It was installed as soon as it came in. Appalling service. It took them 72hrs for a plumber to be allocated to me then told it would take 2 weeks for them to come out. I phoned 3 times a day to chase them. I was then told I can organize my own plumber and get the work authorized. Plumber called. Came in less than 1hr. Got a cost and phoned for authorization to be told that plumbing was covered, but not blocks. What other plumbing cover would you need? This is their Gold policy. I paid for the work myself. Plumber was excellent then cancelled my policy with Select. Avoid.

They do not know what they are talking about and always seem to need to go back and speak to the manager... Very poor training. The company has tried everything to not have to pay out my valid claim. Has A/C troubles over the weekend. I filed a claim with SHW and received an email within a few hours of who will be calling me to schedule the appointment. The technician came to my home Monday morning and repaired the unit. The service was quick. Thank you SHW.

The A/C fan motor on my unit failed. I called on a Sunday and received no follow up phone call. The real feel temperature was almost 110 degrees so I had the call again the following afternoon and was told they were busy that is why I wasn't contacted. They said due to the volume of calls on A/C units I was authorized to have a company of my choice come out and do the repair. The company is use. Contacted them. Sent required pictures and diagnosis of the problem. This company then did the repair for which I paid $459 to have done.
After not hearing from Select in 6 days, I was told 24-48 hours, I called and was told they would only reimburse $150 for the repair??? This company is a joke! The claim representative I spoke to would not give his name and when I voiced my displeasure he had a very nonchalant attitude and said "Oh well sorry." I will not recommend that a company to anyone I know and will select a different warranty company for future use.

I filed a claim with SHW for my washing machine. SHW sent a contractor to my house who was able to repair the machine in the same visit. He had the parts on hand in his truck which was very pleasing. I didnt have to wait for him to come back another day.

Select Home Warranty dispatched a garage door company to my house when the garage door wasn't functioning. The technician who came out was very knowledgeable and knew exactly what needed replacing in order for it to work again. He replaced the part the next morning and it has been in excellent condition since.

The service I received from SHW has been really good. I filed an a/c claim recently and they quickly sent someone to my home to repair it. I was happy with the way the process was handled and happy with who they sent to my home. I will be happy to renew my policy next year.

It was great having someone else look for a repairman to use. The work has not been completed yet. Only reason why is because the part has to be ordered but I know that everything will be taken care of. Excellent customer service so far.

My stove was not heating up so I called SHW and filed a claim. They put the information into their system and said that they will have a contractor dispatched to my home. I received a phone call from a contractor later that afternoon to schedule the appointment. When he came he switched out the part that was not working and made sure that the oven was working properly before leaving.

I purchased a home warranty with Select Home Warranty in May of 2016. I filed my first claim with them in July of 2016 for a broken garage door opener. The first company they dispatched never received a service order from them. I called back into Select Home Warranty and they said they dispatched to the first company in error. They dispatched to another company. After not hearing from this company, I called the company and they said they do not have a contract with Select Home Warranty. I called Select Home Warranty back again and they dispatched to a third company. This company did call me and wanted to help me, but said they could not work with Select Home Warranty as they do not pay their claims.
After all of this I called Select Home Warranty and cancelled my warranty. I spoke with Aaron at ext **. I inquired if I would be receiving a full refund and he said yes because of the short time I had my contract and because of my dissatisfaction with the first claim I filed. I did receive a check, but it has been prorated for one month and accessed a $75 cancellation fee. After being promised a call back by Aaron after he listened to our recorded call and never calling back, I was finally able to reach Aaron again. He proceeds to tell me that he did tell me prorated. He absolutely did not and won't provide the recording to me. I talked with his manager at ext ** and he refused to do anything for me.

I recently filed a claim for our pool equipment. SHW sent a contractor my house and it turned out that a part needed replacing in the pool pump. Not only was the part replaced but the contractor cleaned the filters at no extra charge. How awesome!

I had a claim processed for my plumbing issues. Select Home Warranty found a plumber in my area and dispatched them to my home. The plumber was able to resolve all my issues in one visit. I was only responsible for paying my deductible which I was very pleased about.

I don't understand why they are still in business cheating the customers. Have called >5 times and got different response on my washer repairs. "No contractors available, will escalate the request, you can do it yourself and come back to us, no idea about your claim, have you placed claim already etc". They are really not in the mood of helping me and really disappointed with my contract with this warranty company. Looks to me they have no freakin system in place to process my claim, no status update or any email that I received for my claim. Only have spoken to random people who only say different things and they are there to help!! Really frustrated from the bottom of my heart.

Terrible. Use another company. A complete waste of $400. Save your money!! I don't know where to start. They're a complete scam in my opinion. My refrigerator broke and my first issue is that it took them literally a month to send a technician - very slow response times - the agreement says 2 days ex-holidays so that's not true. Rude customer service - when I asked why this was taking so long their "customer relations" rep literally said if it was me I just would have bought a new refrigerator by now... I responded that that kind of defeats the purpose of a home warranty.
When the technician finally came it was a "sealed system" issue that wasn't under warranty - I paid $60 to find that out. You really have to read the fine print with these guys. The "sealed system" in a refrigerator includes the the compressor, the condenser, the heat exchanger, any tubing - they also won't do freon which is a common repair, won't do leaks, the ice maker, or anything to do with the freezer. Basically they'll fix your refrigerator for the $60 service fee if the door falls off, but if it's anything else good luck.
Please read the list of exceptions on their website first (I wish I did) - it's a total joke: https://selecthomewarranty.com/termsconditions. They don't cover anything if the break isn't reported within 3 days. They cover plumbing issues, but not those caused by water pressure. They cover plumbing stoppages, but not those caused by foreign objects (I believe that's a definition of a stop...). They cover ducts, but not collapsed or crushed ducts. They cover the water heater, but not leaks and not the pump. 15 exceptions to the heating system including coils and 23 exceptions to central air that aren't covered and they reserve the right to see 3 years of maintenance records and pictures or the maximum payout is $150. Select Home Warranty covers more appliances than other companies, but if something breaks there are so many exceptions. They don't fix it and it will take awhile to find that out. Needless to say I will not be renewing with them.

We had a claim processed for the hot water heater over the winter. SHW found a contractor in my area and was able to sent them out to my home. The contractor was polite and professional. He proceeded to repair the hot water heater and it has been working very well since we had the claim filed. Highly recommended.

I had filed a claim for my air conditioner at the beginning of the summer. Select Home Warranty processed my claim quickly and had sent a contractor to my house to repair it. The contractor who came was professional and knowledgeable. He knew what the problem was right away and proceeded to make all the necessary repairs. The air conditioner has since then been working perfectly which I am grateful for.

Do not do business with these people. The company appears to only be a collection agency and outsourced call center. No matter what issue you call about it is not covered and customer service is just there to give you the runaround until you are told your problem is not covered. They refused to cover the AC system, the water system, and a hot water heater until I canceled. Call the BBB to complain but don't send a cent to these "people".

I had HVAC problems so I called Select Home Warranty to file a claim. They found a contractor in my area and sent them to my house. The contractor cleaned the unit and replaced a part that was causing the problems. I was only responsible for my copay and nothing more. The service was fast.

I was having major problems with my hot water heater. I submitted a claim via the Select Home Warranty website. I got a call from a contractor the next morning to schedule the appointment. The contractor who came to my house was able to fix the hot water heater and I was only responsible for my $45 deductible. I saved a few hundred dollars with Select just this year alone.

I had to file a claim recently for my stove. Every time I tried to heat it up it would not go above a certain temperature. Select Home Warranty sent a technician to my home who said the heating element needed replacing. He called Select on the spot and was able to get the replacement part approved. He installed it that moment and did not leave till the oven was working properly.

I been with Select Home Warranty for 1 year and had been satisfied up until today. I was having some issues with my AC Unit. I had to call them several times just to get a company to come and see what the issue was. The Company they sent out was very very unprofessional and the Technician arrived with no refrigerant to put in the AC unit. I asked him "Why would you come and not bring any refrigerant with you?" He called the next day and said if we wanted refrigerant it will be a charged of $300. I called an AC Person myself and he came out with some refrigerant added it plus he washed my Unit down for $140. I immediately cancel my contract. A total ripped off.

Purchased a home warranty from these people and my mistake I paid them in full for the whole year. First time I submitted a claim for a problem with the a/c unit they took almost 2 WEEKS to send a tech. First they blamed the a/c company they assigned and when they finally sent someone of course I had already paid almost $1,000 to someone to fix it because with the Texas heat being over 100 couldn't just wait days for them to finally respond. Made so many calls and wasn't able to get a tech soon enough. Did they reimburse the money I paid the a/c tech I had to hire?? OF COURSE NOT!!! But yet they do love it when customers pay their policy in full.
When the tech finally arrived to check the a/c unit of course it was already running and functioning. Tech said that it was an older unit and it needed to be replaced soon BUT they couldn't replace anything that was running. Supposedly he submitted the request to see if the unit could be replaced and after weeks and weeks of waiting no response. They didn't even send me an e-mail letting me know the claim was rejected and the unit couldn't be replaced. NOTHING. I am very pissed with Select Home Warranty because they liked it when I purchased and paid in full but at the time of submitting my FIRST claim they did nothing. Ugh!!!

They don't provide any coverage for the first month, and they have a $150 cap for the next 3 months on any repair, and try to tell technicians to make it a customer issue with every repair... I would not recommend this company to anyone. Every experience I have had with them has been worse in my life. I have had them 1 year. Had garbage disposal go out. They made me go thru so much to get my refund and only $75 what they would allow on it. I could not even get one for that, and I had to get someone to put it in for me. I had to wait over the 30 day waiting period to get my refund back on it. They were rude to me. SECOND was my renewal. I called on that when they seen I was not up on their cost. Offers RIP OFF offers. They HUNG UP ON ME while I was talking to them, had not even turned it down totally yet still negotiating prices and options, they HUNG UP. But could still keep texting my phone! THIS IS RUDEST COMPANY I HAVE EVER DEALT WITH!!!

I had filed a furnace claim several months ago with SHW. They took down my information quickly and processed my claim accordingly. A contractor was sent to my home who inspected the furnace thoroughly and was able to determine what the problem was. He proceeded to then repair the furnace for me and it has been in excellent working condition since.

I wanted to write off by saying that I highly recommend SHW. I have had 3 claims filed this year alone and each claim was handled just as professional as the first. My first claim was for the garage door. The guy who came out fixed it but it broke again the next month. So the second time around SHW sent someone else to my house. They found that a part needed to be replaced and he took care of that right away. The third claim I had was for my microwave which turned out to be unrepairable so SHW had it replaced with a comparable model since mine was no longer available for purchase. Each time I had a problem they were there to take care of my claims.

I highly recommend Select Home Warranty. I am a big auto enthusiast and keeping my cars safe is number one so when my garage door was malfunctioning the first thing I did was file a claim with Select. My claim was processed within a timely fashion and a licensed garage door company was sent to my home to assess the problem. It was determined that a part in the opener needed to be replaced in order for the door to open and close properly. Select approved the replacement part the same day and I was able to have everything installed later that afternoon. Overall I am very pleased and happy with the turnout of this service. I highly recommend getting a warranty through them. I had nothing but professional service.

I WAS APPALLED WHEN SELECT HOME WARRANTY CHARGED A LABOR FEE ($150.00) ON TOP OF THE SERVICE FEE ($60.00) for INSTALLING (replacing the computer board) on my dishwasher. According to Eric, the Disposition Manager (which was the highest manager available) under EXCLUSIONS to coverage: Section 9.1.2 "This Agreement does not cover any systems or appliances that have had previous repair or that require repair as a result of improper installation, previous repair, damage caused by any construction activity, improper wiring, inadequate or lack of capacity, power failures, power surges, overloads, missing parts, failure to properly maintain, failure to properly clean, neglect, misuse, corrosion, rust, sediment and any modification to the system or appliance. You are responsible for providing annual maintenance and cleaning by a licensed technician on covered items to ensure continued coverage on such items.
Select reserves the right to request prior years (3) maintenance records and/or pictures, without proper maintenance records and pictures the maximum payout on any system/appliance is up to $150.00. This policy covers mechanical breakdowns, it does not cover shelves, door handles, doors, hinges, knobs and buttons, door seals, displays, latches, timers, leveling equipment, clogged drains or lines, cosmetic issues, gaskets, leak searches, lights, noise, refrigerants, valves, dispensers, INSTILLATION, electrical failures." I am not an attorney, but I read this exclusion as the INSTILLATION of the appliance is not covered... not the replacement (INSTALLATION) of a part for the appliance! DO NOT BUY SERVICE PLAN!!

PLEASE DO NOT BUY THIS WARRANTY. I purchased this warranty last July. It's not worth the paper it's written on. I have had nothing but grief when dealing with this company. I just submitted a claim for my built in microwave. They said after reviewing the problem (online they never came out) that it would not be cost effective to come out and fix it. They are so GENEROUSLY going to give me $95.00 after I purchase a new one and send them a picture of it along with the receipts. Oh and it gets better. They will not pay to have it installed and on top of that they will deduct $45 from the $95 so after all is done I will get at total of $50.00 to replace my microwave. This is how this company operates. Whatever breaks in your home they have the contract written so the appliance is not completely covered. IT'S A RIP OFF. PLEASE LEARN FROM MY MISTAKE AND DON'T BUT A WARRANTY FROM SELECT HOME WARRANTY.
