    I contacted Select Home Warranty on January 12, 2017. I requested service in my refrigerator, dryer, and my roof. I received a call saying that the refrigerator was not covered. I said ok, but how about the dryer and the roof. I was told that they were still trying to locate someone for those repairs. I called a few days ago, and I was told that they are still trying to find someone to come. Today I'm told that there was no service in my area, and I would have to pay for it and then be reimbursed. I am a cancer patient, and I do not work. I'm on a very strict budget. That was my reason for getting the warranty. I cannot afford to not have one. So I just received a call from Mr. ** (as I'm writing this) who has agreed to send me out a check to find my own repairman. I appreciate him doing so, but, if I have to find my own serviceman, then why can't you? Must say that I feel bamboozled. Why was I not told that there was no service people in this area?

    A supervisor named Edwart in the call center, hope I spelled his name correctly, told me today that there is service, but they would take 3 weeks to get them. So, as I sit here with dirty clothes, dirty bed sheets, damp dirty towels, and bacteria building, I’m hoping that my cancer stricken immune system does not make me end up in the hospital since I'm unable to take them out to clean, and live alone with no one in the state to help me. I am NEVER late, nor do I ever MISS a payment. Select Home Warranty just do as you are suppose to do!!! No more no less. If I can find someone in this area to come... why can't you?

    I purchased a home warranty from Select Home Warranty in June and everything was great until I filed a claim in December. They gave me a claim number but never called me back to set me up a tech visit. I called three times and was promised a call back from the manager to make things right but never received one. Finally in January, I called an independent contractor, who gave me an estimate that I shared with Select Home Warranty. They immediately called me then and said they would not pay to repair the appliance but offered me an in-lieu depreciated cost of $125 for my refrigerator. I asked how they calculated this cost and was told, it was at their discretion and I could take it or leave it.

    When I called and asked for a refund, the manager "Edward" was rude and condescending and attempted to belittle me for not wanting to accept the $125. I want my refrigerator repaired as promised and I additionally paid $85 to the independent contractor. I have called back 3 times to speak with Jamal, the "invisible" floor manager, but he is always unavailable and they promise he will call back but we are now at 96 hours and counting with no call from Select Home Warranty. Beware, this is a very shady business with no concern for their customers!!

    I pay for the platinum service warranty I purchased March of 2016. I called in on 1/6/17 at 3:00 pm central time. I talked to Samantha and advised my furnace stopped working and am I able to send a contractor local to diagnose due to the frigid temperature and elderly couple in the home. She advised yes and she spoke with my contractor who gave the diagnosis and his advice of replacing the unit. She said due to circumstance of weather she would expedite and I would receive a call back. I did not get a call but email asking for pictures of my unit and maintenance records. I then compiled and sent in. I have used the same contractor for years as a HVAC tech. He sent me invoices and never had a issue but a cleaning yearly. I still did not get a call.

    I called Saturday and spoke with a gentleman who advised due to the nature of weather and elderly use my contractor and submit the invoice for reimbursement. The replacement was $2000. Now Select is refusing to pay claim stating false documents. I advised this is what I received and never a issue with my unit. If I had any major issues this would not have been the original unit with house built in 2002.

    This is the second time they did not want to pay for a claim. All they will offer is $100. I am paying for a service which does not want to hold to their contract. When you sign up they acknowledge no matter the issue or age Select covers. Well I am finding out until it's time to claim they do not want to pay. I have done everything asked by this company. My unit has been maintained as it has lasted 12 years. Their contract all units are covered in good working condition, which is proven my unit is as I still have it. 10.1 of their contract states repair/replacement increases to $2000 after first three months of coverage. Again if this unit was not maintained it would not have been in service this long.

    I have had 4 issues so far and every single one was denied. I showed proof that what they were saying was untrue but the person (Charles) would say his piece, state something incorrect and then stay silent on the line. I would show proof that what he was saying was incorrect but all he would only say "Is there anything else I can help you with". Basically ignoring what I would say. On each occasion I have spoken to the techs that came out and they stated that they knew the company would not repair. They look for any reason to deny. My advice is to stay away from this company. Hopefully with enough reviews they will go out of business soon. My claims were for 2 AC's and then for 2 Heaters a few months later.

    I purchased the top of the line home warranties from this company for our primary home and a rental home that we own. I received a call from my renters stating that the hot water tank is leaking and they don't have hot water. I placed a claim with Select Home Warranty on 12/29/16 early in the morning. I received an email on 12/30/16 stating that they have assigned a contractor to go look at the hot water tank. I called and talked with contractor and he said that the hot water tank needs replaced and he submitted this to Select Home Warranty.

    I then called Select Home Warranty to expedite this since we are coming upon a Holiday weekend. Select Home denied the claim because the contractor had stated the "drip leg was originally installed improperly and upside down". I let the contractor know this and he said that the drip leg has nothing to do with the water tank leaking and he had never heard of this. Bottom line, Select Home Warranty will deny a claim for any reason they can find. This hot water tank is from 1991 and needs replaced. So, I will have to pay for the water tank to be replaced even though I paid for the Home Warranty. I will not renew with this company. They are slow to respond and will not pay for anything if they can find a way to get out of it. If you do use them, keep each and every receipt from all maintenance on any of your appliances, HVAC etc. or they won't cover it either.

    Over the last 6 months, I have had to contact Select Home Warranty multiple times. On a major oven issues, I am still trying to get resolution after over 4 months of constant contact. They are so unresponsive and at every turn find excuses to give lousy service. I recently was promised by Jermel (Customer Service Manager) an amount to cover a problem for my oven. The oven needs $800 in repairs, he only authorized $200. Now, when the documentation came through to sign, they are only authorizing $130. I then called back to the customer service department to get a resolution. I was told that they had to deduct the $45 service fee. I then had to explain that I paid the $45 service fee to the technician that came out earlier on the call for the service. The person on the phone had no authority to fix anything and had to defer to Jermel who is now supposed to call me back.

    Even if they found a justification to charge me $45 co-pay again, the math is $200-$45 which is $155 and not $130. Seriously, don't walk away from this company. RUN RUN RUN. BTW, years ago, I had **. I remember having to process a claim for a major repair. The experience was straight forward, honest and easy. There is absolutely no comparison with Select Home Warranty. I repeat, Select Home Warranty is a terrible company. Do not do business with them!!! I wish that I could give a ZERO star rating. This company is TERRIBLE, and Jermel is awful.

    I submitted a claim online and the form states "a claims rep will contact you shortly." No one contacted me so I called and was told that a claims rep would call me in 24-48 hours then they will talk to me about getting something scheduled, which might take another day or two. This is not the prompt service I was sold on when I bought my plan. Meanwhile, we have a broken toilet that is leaking. If it is a really big problem or emergency, I can't imagine waiting 24-48 hours just to get a call back from a claims rep at Select.

    I had a plan with Select Home Warranty for 4 months when I had occasion to use it to get my dishwasher repaired as it wasn't draining properly. When I placed the claim I was told the contractor, Delta Appliance, would get in touch with me within 24 hours. 36 hours went by and I finally had to call them. They didn't want to come out for another 5 days but I convinced them to make it 3 days. The serviceman came out, said we needed a new drain pump, collected his $60 service fee, and said it would take about 2 days to get the part. 3 days went by and when I didn't hear anything I called Delta. The person that answered the phone said "oh they didn't call you" and said she had to look up the information and would get back to me within 10 minutes. Within 10 minutes I got a call from Select stating that my repair had been approved and that they'd pay for the part but not the labor.

    I told them there was nothing in their contract that stated they didn't pay for labor as I'd read the whole thing twice but they cited some paragraph toward the end of the contract (it wasn't contained in any of the paragraphs regarding each appliances repair) where it was buried at the very end of the paragraph in the incidentals they didn't cover like door handles, damage to the surface, etc. and the mention of the installation in that paragraph made you think it was only referring to items in that paragraph but they use it to get out of paying for the labor.     When the cancellation department called me back to see why I was cancelling and when I told them about it they claimed it was how they kept the cost of their contracts down. Now I'd done plenty of research before signing with Select and costs were all the same within a few dollars of each other and the only thing that varied was the service fee depending on the service fee amount you picked. I complained to the Better Business Bureau but all the company did was refund the most recent payment they'd collected. Now it's on to the Attorney General to get them for fraud.

    In January 2016 we were looking for new home warranties for our new house purchase. Select Home Warranty seemed to have the best rates. Other home warranty companies also contacted us and several of them said NOT to go with Select Home Warranty. We ignored their advice and went with them anyway. In March 2016 our garage door opener broke and we couldn't get the garage door opened. I called SHW to file a claim. Since our cars were stuck in the garage and we needed to get out we needed urgent service. SHW told me to go ahead and find a contractor and get it fixed ASAP and that SHW would reimburse us for the cost minus the service fee. I found a contractor, they came out within several hours, fixed the garage door, I paid $200 and we were taken care of.

    I submitted the receipt to SHW for reimbursement. Over a period of 6 months, I got passed from person to person and never received my reimbursement. I had to resubmit the reimbursement several times due to it not being in the system. I got disconnected several times and was put on hold for as long as 30 minutes on other times. Some, not all, of the customer service reps were rude and seemed overworked. To make a long story short, I finally received the reimbursement check in September.

    On December 6, 2016 I filed a new claim for plumbing issues. The claim was filed, a service rep called me and confirmed the claim. She was not pleasant and seemed a bit rushed. She told me that I would get a confirmation email along with a list of contractors to call within 24-48 hours. As of this writing (December 19, 2016) I still have yet to receive that email. Once again feeling left out and forgotten. The feeling that I now have to call them again, be put on hold, talk to a rude customer service rep, and be told my claim is not in the system, passing the buck again.

    At this point, I've come to the realization that SHW is incompetent, poor management and customer service, and really just wants your money upfront. I already paid in full for the warranty. They got my money and I hope they are happy. I'm taking my business elsewhere and filing a complaint with the BBB. In a nutshell, DO NOT choose Select Home Warranty unless you want bad, slow, or no service at all. Go elsewhere.

One day my stove stop working, called Select Customer service, they find a third party contractor to the house. The contractor said the stove is old and does not worth to fix.     It is crystal clear in my case that Select Home Warranty makes all effort to NOT cover our failing HVAC system. My husband and I purchased our home in April of 2014 and maintained our HVAC through a professional and licensed contractor since we bought it. Now Select home warranty requests 3 years of maintenance which we don't have simply because we HAVEN'T BEEN IN OUR HOUSE 3 YEARS! So when the contract says, "This Agreement covers household appliances and systems when they become inoperable due to normal wear and tear," THEY LIE! It only applies if you can show 3 years of maintenance record like the contract says at the bottom of it! This is a shame!

    This company is the absolute worst!!! We signed up when we moved into our new home last year. We've ONLY filed 2 claims. The 1st claim was for our washer. It took them almost 2 months to find a contractor to even contact us! LUCKILY we still have our warranty with Samsung & it got fixed within a week. After all this wasted time, my coverage ended but my claim is still open. They TRIED to tell me that they can't cover to replace it.     I have had this warranty company for a little over 1yr and they have been the worst company I have ever used. I went with this company since they covered roof leaks. I bought this warranty when I bought my house a little over a year ago. My first issue was a roof leak which they would not cover since it cost $650 to fix and it was within 3 month of me buying the policy. They told me the most they would pay was $150. Which I accepted.

    The second was a cracked stove top which they did not cover due to someone dropping something on it. This was understandable. The third was a hot water heater leaking. Which they told me they don't cover leaking hot water heater. The fourth was my ac unit was not working. They sent a tech out and it was my blower motor. They would not cover since I did not have 3 yrs of maintenance records on a house I have only been in for a little over 1yr. I had to take legal action for them to reimburse the money they owed for the repairs. Do not buy this home warranty. My experience suggests that if the repair cost is more than $150 they will not cover it.

    DO NOT BUY YOUR HOMEOWNER WARRANTY THROUGH THIS COMPANY! Their Customer Service is the worst I have ever dealt with. I have put in 2 claims with the company. The first one was for broken water heater. When I originally put in the claim they told me it would be about a week before they could get anyone to my house. I told them that was unacceptable since I was having 10 people staying at my house in two days. I was irate. I will say Jonnel was helpful and did finally find a plumber to come to my house. My water heater was not repairable and they told me they would only give me $150 towards a new one because it was 15 years old. A new one costs $1200-1500 fully installed. Not acceptable, but that is all that they would do.

    Second claim was for our dishwasher. I put in a claim and had not heard anything for 6 weeks. I sent them an email and then I got a call. They said that they have not been able to find a tech in my area. Are you kidding me??? That is BS. Then the guy goes on to tell me that I can call a tech and get reimbursed. This is NOT Acceptable. I will have them get the tech out and pay my $45 service fee. I'm not going to pay for it and then wait for them to reimburse me. This company is awful. DO NOT Buy a HO Warranty from them. They should be put out of business.

    When signing up the policy they do not disclose all the loops on what is covered and what is not. I called in to get a report a claim about a cook top vent fan underneath the built in microwave. First I had to go through two agents to get my claim in and then I get a email saying the claim is denied as the value of the microwave replacement is greater than the allowable amount. I could get the microwave replaced myself but will only be refunded a portion of the cost. This assessment was done without even confirming with me what I stated as the problem.

    Secondly I called to clarify that the microwave is working fine but the vent fan below the microwave is the issue and they instantly said the vent fan is not covered by the policy. Lesson learnt is to always read every single line of the contract before signing anything. I cancelled my policy and had to take $75 deduction from the original price as that is their policy and the sales person will never disclose that when selling the policy. Overall a very sour experience and will never deal with this company again.

    I closed on a house in June, I chose Select warranty, and as soon as I move in and contact Select in regards to my contract, I was met with a beyond rude associate who asked for my contract info. Telling him I'm looking through my paperwork for it, he states he doesn't have time to wait, told me when I find it to call him back and then hung up on me. That's my first complaint. I immediately then called another warranty company and opened a contract with someone else.

    Since then I, and my title company have been trying to collect the $500 refund check. This company has supposedly sent multiple checks and issued stop payments on them just as quick, but no one has seen a check anywhere. I last spoke with them 3 weeks ago, my title company conference called them and they were issuing the check as we spoke. That also was a lie. There is still no check to be seen. Select Home Warranty is a company that doesn't care whether you're satisfied or not, and if you stop business with them, they just give you the runaround. Your personnel have no integrity or respect.

    I have been with Select Home Warranty for more than a year. So far it is a bitter experience. Listing some of them: They are pathetic in understanding any issue that you might report. They sent me gas technician when I said the stove is not lighting up properly. They should have known it is mostly related to electricity after learning the make and model of my stove. None in their team is knowledgeable to understand your issue. They just assign and you end up paying more service call fee as the shift in the root cause will cause service call fee again and again. None in their team is customer centric. My gas stove issue isn't resolved for last 1 month. I have to follow-up every single time to alert them nothing is happening and then they realize the customer is in waiting mode.

    Their cancellation policy is a big time scam. If you are canceling, you have to pay the original price that you would have paid for each claim if you had no warranty but calling the technician individually. You tend to stay with them whatever your choice is and whatever your opinion about them. For some claims, they don't spend time in analyzing the issue, instead they throw you some dollars and ask you fix it. Instead they could ask make and model and see if there is a easy fix. It happened for my Microwave door issue.

    They don't follow-up with the contractor instead the customer has to do. I had to follow-up with the contractor to send his diagnosis instead of the Select guys to do the same. You end up doing their work and they just sit and wait for your call. It happened for my gas stove issue (still not resolved for more than a month). When I reported why you don't own the delay, the Director of the call center said it is not his issue even though he realize I am waiting on it for more than 3 weeks after the first technician visit. If you really want a home warranty, better choose a good company other than Select Home Warranty. They are a big time scam. I wish I could cancel my contract, but they had a big catch in cancellation. Better stay away from them.

    This company is the worst home warranty company ever!! They should NOT be listed on the top 10 home warranty companies. I just moved in my house last year and my heating has failed me this year. They refuse to cover my system because I don't have 3 years of maintenance records for the system. How could I if I only lived there 1 year. I have had inspections and maintenance invoices for the time that I have moved in and they are still refusing to cover the repairs.     I purchased the Home Warranty so if I did have a failure with a major appliance in my home it would be covered. Well I had a failure with my septic system and they sent a septic company out to repair the problem. Come to find out the septic pump that pumps the clear water out on the lawn failed and it was going to cost approx. 850.00 to repair. Select Home Warranty was only going to pay 200.00 towards the repair. Why the hell did I buy the warranty if the repairs were not going to be covered in full? This is a very shady company and I would not recommend doing any business with them.

    I had my contract for little less than a year and want to cancel it and they would only offer 200.00 prorated refund for the remaining term of the contract which was for 2.5 yrs. and I paid 850.00. The gentleman told me I should have read my contract cause it stated there is a cap of 200.00 towards this repair. I went back and read it and nowhere in there did it state that. Don't waste your money with this company. They are a bunch of crooks.

Initially they said they do not cover range hoods, but when I showed them the policy where the sales guy included that as a additional item, they agreed.     I requested a quote from Select Home Warranty last night. My wife and I decided to go in a different direction this morning. I have received FIVE phone calls from Select Home Warranty today while at work. Every time it is a different representative and every time I have asked to have my name and number removed from their list. The last representative that called me was rude and a complete jerk.

    I explained the situation to him and he angrily retorted that I must have received calls from other companies and was taking it out on him. I assured him that I was not mistaken (it's kinda hard to miss the same number showing up in your recent calls), I wanted my number removed from their list, and that I was unsure how anyone could do business with this company.     We just purchased an apartment in Chicago & per contract agreements the seller bought us Select Home Warranty for the property with a one year contract. Within a couple of weeks after moving in our heating system was not working so I made a claim with SHW on 10/18/16. Eight days past & no one calls to schedule an appointment to get my heater fixed. I had to call them. They stated that there was a shortage of contractors in my area & that my best bet is to get it fixed myself then send them an invoice. They also instructed me to tell my contractor to call their authorization department to complete. Needless to say I'm doing their work for them at this point.

    I find it really hard to believe there is a shortage of contractors in Chicago. I needed my heater fixed because it was getting cold so I called Four Seasons Heating & Cooling & they were wonderful. The contractor said they don't call the warranty company (go figures). So after everything gets fixed (mind you Select HW still hasn't called me for updates on my claim) I send them my invoice. The total invoice came out to be $328.00. Do you think I get fully reimbursed for that? NOPE. I only get reimbursed $150.00. So because I cannot provide three years of maintenance history & that it may have had previous repairs, I only get $150.00 back. After I sent my invoice twice they have to send a reimbursement form via mail then I have to send that back via mail then they said they send the $150.

    All in all this is going to take forever to not even get half back. The fact that they could not get a contractor out here & make me wait eight days to find out shows incompetence. I had to get a contractor on my own so I can use my heater. The fact that our apartment is not brand new & the appliances listed has probably been worked on before tells me that this policy was for nothing.

    This is the worst company I've ever encountered. They lied to my husband and me multiple times and did not do what they said they would do. It's too long of a story to explain all of the details; but, the bottom line is that we ended up not only paying them $400 for our home warranty but paying over $2000 for a new air conditioning unit that 3 contractors stated met the requirements for being covered by our home warranty in accordance with Select Home Warranty's contract.     My nightmare experience with Select Home Warranty. When I had my first call for a repair. They had never sent me any paperwork. I have never signed anything before that point either. I was told at that point that what I need it repaired, a leaking hot water heater had a clause that water leaks were not covered. Now if I haven't gotten the paperwork ahead of time I would have known about this clause but I had never received the paperwork nor signed and returned it.

    My next complaint is that they claim they had technicians in my area, however for hot water heater, and another claim for my refrigerator - they did not. I had to secure my own technicians and pay higher fees and was never reimbursed. For my refrigerator they assigned me four different technicians 3 of which never answered their phones and the fourth said I was out of the area. Even though my refrigerator repair which was over $800 was a covered repair, I was told of a clause that since it was only three months into my policy they would only pay a little over $100 towards my claim. This is outrageous saying I already paid over $300 upfront for the policy. And never fully signed the agreement. When asked about a refund they talked about a pro-rated refund with a $75 fee deducted. I'm like "for what?"

    I have received no service. Matter of fact I have had to work how to get my own repairs look into. Talking to someone in retention I was actually hung up on and refused to talk to someone higher. About a month later I call about another claim only to find out that they actually cancelled my policy behind my back! Supposedly they sent me a $50 refund check. So I spend $300, get no service and get $50 back? My Goal whenever I talk to them was to make some kind of arrangement. But they were have no dealings with me. I felt so disrespected with this company. I feel like they're out to take people's money. I would not suggest doing business with them. I will be filing complaints with the Better Business Bureau, and the Attorney General.

    Please don't waste your time and money!!! Select Home Warranty denied air condition repair/replacement coverage. All documentations requested by insurance company were provided, which included maintenance record for 2014, 2015, and 2016. Record show that in 2014 and 2016 coil was cleaned and less than 0.5 lb of freon added. Insurance company reason to deny coverage was: "AC was previously repaired because freon was added."

    Contractor who provided service for my AC for the past 3 years denied any repair or problem with AC functioning. Per contractor minimum freon was added after coil was cleaned to adjust a pressure and this is normal process of tune up, and no problem with freon leak was detected. I also consulted with several independent contractor via the phone and email regarding how much freon are requiring to cover a leak. And the answer was if it's less than 1 lb, it is NOT a leak and minimum of freon can be added during maintenance for several reasons. Please don't waste your time and money!!!

    We had a problem with not getting enough air from the vent in our bedroom. It was fine everywhere else, but not in the bedroom. I called Select and it did take awhile for them to get someone, but it wasn't their fault. I had to call them a couple of times, but every time I did they were so nice and helpful. They sent the call to them and in a day, I have my contractors here to work on our heating unit. I am very pleased with this company. I'm glad I went with the 3 year contract, which made the contractor price on $45...compared to $60-$65 with other companies. (I must admit, after I purchased my warranty from them I got nervous reading bad review after bad review. I am very happy to say they are wrong.)

    If I could leave 0 stars if I could. This has to be the shadiest company I have ever had to deal with. Failed to disclose a lot of information that was on the contract. When I called to speak to a representative, I was yelled at, disrespected, and even hung up on. STAY AS FAR AWAY FROM THIS CRAPPY COMPANY!     First problem I experienced with Select Home Warranty was when my dryer broke. They kept sending companies that didn't service my area. I live in a very populated suburb of Chicago. Then they said "get your own repair person" and they would reimburse me. So after a week of waiting for responses from them for a company I went out to get my own.

    It's been 3 months now and I still have not received my refund, which, by the way, is only $150.00 of the almost $300 in repairs. NOW, my fridge broke and they say they cover refrigerators but when you look at two parts of the contract they contradict each other. One says all brands are covered and then on another page it list pretty much everything and anything a refrigerator has and says they are not covered. This company was a big mistake for me. I have friends who use other home warranty companies and I will never use this company again but will go with the other company that most of my friends use.

    I called back in September regarding my dishwasher, they sent someone to fix it but the person just stated what I had told select home the problem and took a charge of $45 from me telling me that Select Home will contact me within 48 hrs to resolve the problem. 2 weeks later I called back because they didn't call me back or email or anything regarding the problem.

    When I called they told me that I was getting back cash reimbursement of $92 and later got a email saying it was only $75. I called back because I was told that someone will be coming back to fix my problem - when I asked the lady she couldn't give any proper answer and put me on hold for about 7 minutes. She came back on the phone saying since my unit was old they will give me $75 for cash back.

    All I want was my unit to be fixed and I asked her if that $75 as going to cover my repair but she kept on saying I was getting back $75 so I told her that I will record her saying that $75 was going to cover my repair. She said she didn't want to be recorded. If that was the problem then why am I being recorded without letting me know and it was OK for them to do it but wasn't OK for me to do so. She put me back on hold and told me the manager will call be back and when I asked to be answered. Now she keeps on saying the manager was busy and hung up the call on me.

    On April 2015 I purchased a home warranty for $699.99 from Select and I am very disappointed with this company's services. I had my compressor on my AC unit go out on the last of August 2016 in the peak of Virginia summer heat. They never secured a contractor to help me, I had to obtain one on my own. They only offered $150. towards a $3000. repair. The customer service reps were some of the rudest people I have ever encountered and were no help in resolving any issues. I requested a refund on September 9, 2016 and received a confirmation email on September 14, stating that the check was processing and that I would receive the check by mail in 14-30 days. Today is October 13, 2016 and I have not received a check. I have sent emails and made phone calls and was given the runaround.

    I spoke with a supervisor on yesterday by the name of Charles ** who assured my that he would call today by noon with some news on what was going on with the refund check. Of course I have not heard from him and had to call the company myself. I was told that they would expedite the request to accounts payable but that it would take an additional 14-30 days to process and then additional time to receive the check by mail. Please BEWARE of this company. They do not stand by their word or support their customers.

    I bought this policy on 4/2016. On 6/28/2016 I make a claim to repair my washer. The first technician refused to come. They picked someone 1 hr away from my house and I had to wait more than a month to get my washer fixed. On August there was something wrong with my electric panel. NOBODY came to fix it. I called so many times, I emailed so many times, that I got frustrated. I called to get my money back since they don't have companies in VA and they allowed me to cancel the policy and even though it was not my fault, they make me paid penalty fee. Bottom line my refund will be $8.

    People need respect, I was with 2-10 never had a problem, I used American Shield never had a problem. The only reason I change it was because they were so persistent and offer me to include the roof. But why I was punished, when it was their fault? They don't have vendor in VA, they don't answer emails. I sent more than 15 emails and only got the automatic response back. I never deal with so many incompetent people in my life. I don't recommend this company, this company is a nightmare.

    I have never had such a bad experience with a warranty company before. Not only have they denied multiple claims for things that are standard (the electricity went out to my pool equipment), it is a NIGHTMARE getting on the phone with them. There's always a hold - and if you try to bring your own contractor in, it's a million times worse. You're on hold for 20+ minutes only to be passed around from person to person with no one who has authority to make a decision. And then they deny your claim because he suggests it might have been caused by a storm (but no proof). I would NEVER buy from them again.

    This company denied my claim, even though they were told by the air conditioner tech that THEY hired that I had maintained my unit properly. They hung up on me repeatedly and were rude.     Spend a little more and stay away from SELECT HOME WARRANTY. I have had them for a year and had 3 claims. They denied one and paid the absolute minimum on the other two. I have been in my house for almost 2 years and they said that because I don't have 3 years of maintenance on my heater they will only cover 150 dollars and not the 1500 that it would cost. They have horrible customer service. Just ask a service provider which company is the best to deal with. I have talked to a couple now because I am shopping around and all of them state that SELECT HOME WARRANTY is horrible and they hate dealing with them. In fact the latest person that was going to repair my heater stated they are no longer going to deal with them because they pay for nothing and he loses money.

    When I called to cancel my plan because I was fed up with the service the customer service stated (happily) that they will cancel my policy and any claim that they paid during the year they will take out of my prorated return check, so now I paid for a year of service with them and any money that they paid me during that time they are taking back. This is the first review I have ever done on a company. That is how upset I am. Just want to inform people that there are much better choices and not to make the mistake I did.

    I read reviews and noticed the 24 hour response time, and thought this would be a great home warranty company. I loved the $45 co-pay, where we have always had a $75 or $100 copay with our other company. The salespeople were very quick to answer phone to make a sell. We put our primary residence on plan first. After a month or so went by, decided to add our second home. We paid for 2 years upfront because of the discount and received 6 months free. I just tried to use them for the first time.

    (Plumbing) Hot water in master tub would not shut off. I requested a claim twice to get this fixed. It's now been 2 weeks and was told that service techs are not responding to service call. I tried to call and complain and get service but kept being put on hold. I was finally offered $150 to get it fixed myself, by the cancellation department. Really? At this point, I'd like to cancel both policies and go back to American Home Shield. We have used them throughout the years and never had an issue like this. When I tried to cancel, someone needs to call me back. I wonder if I'll hear from them like I have the service request. DON'T USE THIS COMPANY.

    I had a a/c problem. They sent someone out. The people were not through and had no desire to complete the job. I hire someone else for second option. They determined the coil & condenser were bad. I had them called SHW, lady on phone said to get work done then submit paid invoice since these things were covered. I did and now SHW says it was a freon leak and it is not covered. Freon goes through Coil & condenser so it was a freon leak and NOTHING was covered. Nothing says it was a freon leak, and I had lines tested for leaks and there was no leak.

    Now I am out $3700 and SHW offers me $150 to go away. Then they call back after I complained to BBB and offered me $500 to go away. It states in their contract that the coil and condenser are covered, so they should cover them. There are more loopholes in this contract than I have ever seen. Next it was I need to provide back 3 years worth of a/c service before they would cover it. They don't cover ANYTHING. It's all a SCAM.
