    HORRIFIC Service!!! Poor customer service at its finest. This company ALWAYS find excuses to hire a company to come out and troubleshoot the issue. Even though it's a covered service. They put you back on hold, pass you onto the next person. The most recent excuse is. "We can't find a company on your island that's willing to take on the claim." It's not my fault. Keep looking. Why should I have to pay out of pocket, when I invest in SHW. I believe this company is trying to scam people to invest in a home warranty, and not take care of their customers when they need to file a covered claim.

    I filed a claim via the SHW website. A got a call the next morning from a technician requesting to schedule an appointment. The technician arrived on time and was very professional. He called SHW at my home to provide a diagnosis and obtain authorization for repairs needed to be completed. Once he got the approval he proceeded with the repairs on my stove.     Been with them for 3 months. Just filed my first claim on my AC unit. It's freezing up so I filed on a Friday. Today is Wednesday and I was told that a contractor would get in touch with me. They haven't. I've call Select claim department and they tell me the same thing. "Someone will be sending you a email." I live in MS and it's very hot. If I were you I would shop around.

    I have Select Home Warranty as my home warranty company. My heating system was not working. It's been 2 months I been contacting Select Home Warranty regarding that. Very first local A/C company came to look within hour of my call. He try to get work order to solve the problem but he couldn't get work order and left then A/C company's technicians didn't come. I try to reach them back. They start to say they don't have approval to work. I called back warranty company. They told me they already send a approval to A/C company. They send me the email regarding the approval too. I have the email.

    I wait couple weeks again. A/C company actually did show up and check my heating system. The technician told me he has to order some parts and come back to fix with parts but didn't showed up. I contact back them. They told me I don’t need to call them anymore, need to talk select home warranty. Soon warranty company called me and told me they won’t fix my heating system because I don’t have 3 years maintenance report. In this case they will just pay 150$ and I have to pay the difference. Nobody starting from salesman and several representative for 2 months never mention this issue. Now they are saying they won’t fix my heating system.

    Select Home Warranty is an absolute disaster when it comes to customer service and their sub-contractors. Below is a detailed account of my experience with a claim for my clothes washer: A claim was filed with Select Home Warranty on April 4th and a repair technician arrived at my home on April 6th. They were unable to diagnose the issue but stated they would do some research over the weekend and get back to us on Monday. Monday came and went without hearing from the repairman. After numerous attempts to contact the repairman, finally on April 11th I make contact with him -- he states he is unable to diagnose the problem so I need to call the warranty company back.

    When I spoke to SHW they told me they would have another repairman come out. He arrived the same day, April 11th, at 1030 AM. He came in, checked the washer and stated that it was the main control board. He'd have to order the part, which should take 5 days and he would be back in touch to install the part. On April 17th I contacted this repairman who stated the part should be in no later than Wednesday the 19th and he would call to schedule a time on Thursday the 20th to put it in. After several attempts to call him on the 20th I was able to make contact by text. His response was that the part that came in from SHW was wrong and he had to re-order the part and it would be another 3-5 days.

    At this point I called SHW who informed me that the service tech had not completed the paperwork for review until late that morning, April 20th (9 days after he had been to the house). Furthermore they stated that the paperwork wasn't complete and asked if I could take pictures of the washer and email the pics to them to go with the file for review. I sent the pictures within an hour and confirmed that they had been received. Same day within a couple hours I received an email stating that I had been approved for a $185 reimbursement which may be used toward repair or replacement. Note: this unit is less than 3 years old and cost $800. It went on to state that it was determined that the cost of repair would exceed the value of the unit.

    I called back and talked to Felicia who stated that the email had been sent in error and to disregard the email. Someone would be calling me within 24 hours. I called back the following day and was told that the claim was still in review and I would hear from someone by close of business, 7 PM eastern time. Needless to say that time came and went without a call from SHW.

    On April 22nd I called back the claims department, first speaking with Brandon, after being placed on hold for 22 minutes, who told me that I had received an email that they would reimburse me $185. I explained to him that I was told on 2 separate occasions to disregard that email, that the claim was in review. I finally ended up asking to speak to a manager: I was connected to Richard after 12 minutes on hold, who turned out to be another claims rep. He could do no more than Brandon. When pushed to put me in contact with a supervisor, I went back on hold for another 13-14 minutes. When the phone was picked up --- it was Richard again. He hadn't done anything except put me back in the queue to speak to a Claims Rep.

    On hold once again for 14 minutes, I was put in contact with Mike, who stated that the claim was still in review and I would have an answer on Monday when the Claims Management staff was at work. Thus far with SHW I have come to believe that there is no one at the Claims Department nor at their sub-contractor level who is competent.

    The first service repairman could not identify the problem and never called back. The second service repairman identified the problem as a bad main control board, which now makes me question both repairmen, however, he lied to both myself and my wife on numerous occasions, didn't complete the necessary paperwork for 9 days, then it was incomplete. Customer Service at SHW is totally a joke. Everyone is an expert at saying "I'm Sorry" but there is no one who can address an issue or fix a problem.

    It's now been 18 days without a clothes washer with no real end in sight. I paid several hundred dollars for the home warranty up front on this home and other properties. To say at this time that I would never renew with SHW is an understatement. That's not to say that Monday my problem won't be handled to my satisfaction and I change my mind, however, based on the interaction of the past 18 days. A lot will have to improve.

    I had trouble with my a/c not being cold so someone came out and added Freon but never looked at anything else... It still didn't work so they came out again with the approval of Select warranty... Turns out the coil was bad. I was told that it was covered, never heard so called back. The excuse is now that the coil isn't covered... Any excuse not to pay anything. I asked to cancel and got left on permanent hold. I don't trust these people at all. Gladly take your $$ then don't cover anything... Always an excuse.

    I made several claims with Select Home Warranty and they only reimbursed me small amounts of money. I ended up paying a lot of money out of pocket for the cost of repairs. When I tried to cancel, they said I would have to pay all of the money back for each claim. Apparently, this is stated in their policy, so please be careful when you pay the discounted price for three years because you WILL BE DISSATISFIED! I am only writing this in hopes that no one makes the same mistake I made!

    We purchased a home warranty from Select Home Warranty in September 2016. The sales rep told me on the phone that if I purchased the warranty "today" he would give me an extra two months coverage, that should have been a red flag but I missed it. When I received the warranty via email/electronic copy the extra two months was not reflected in the terms of contract, and when I called them to correct it, they said that company policy was that the first month was a waiting period and the policy didn't actually take effect until November 2016. Which didn't make sense but after several attempts to get clarification/correction I gave up.

    Then our refrigerator went out and after calling the SHW service desk we were told that they would send an email with the name of a local service contractor and then we were to contact the service contractor to make arrangements to repair the fridge, end of day one. Day two, no email was sent/received from SHW and after calling them back was told that the claim was submitted and they were trying to find a local contractor to service the fridge, and assured us that we would get an email that day, end of day two. Day three. No email was sent/received from SHW and this time I called and requested to speak with a manager in the Customer Service Department rather than the Claims Department. The person who identified themselves as a manager in the Customer Service Department apologized and said they would expedite the claim and we would get an email shortly to assign a local contractor for our claim, end of morning day three.

    Day three afternoon. No email was sent/received from SHW and upon calling them back and speaking with different customer service manager I was told that they didn't have any local contractors on their list in my area and that I could call my own service technician and have the fridge serviced but if the amount was over $100.00 then the service technician had to call SHW Contractor Dept. and get an authorization number before doing any actual repairs. Really, they expected the service technician to call and get an authorization number. To make a long story short we still haven't received any assistance from SHW and after the local service tech. diagnosed the compressor being bad we purchased a new refrigerator, and are still trying to get compensation from SHW, but to no avail.

    UPDATED ON 04/27/2017: Our fridge broke and after repeated calls/3 they claimed they were looking for a repair technician and never contacted us at all. Finally after the 3rd phone call they said they didn't have anyone to service the fridge and told us we could get our own technician but if repairs were over $100 the technician, only the tech could call, had to call SHW and request an authorization number before repairs would be authorized. After we found A technician to come out he diagnosed the problem was the compressor and actually called SHW while he was still at our house, and they told us they would send an authorization number but it never came.

    When we called back they said that the compressor was not covered because it was part of the sealed system, even though the contract says that it covers all components of the refrigerator necessary for operation. At present we paid $167 to get the fridge checked because after 3 days SHW said they didn't have anyone, and the policy says we only had to pay a $45 service charge for service. Beware of this company. They are terrible.

    This company is the worst warranty company around. It took over 2 months for service and then they tell me that it is not covered. The circuit board in my hot tub went out. First they tried to send a plumber. They sent pool guy and then an electrical that left my breaker box open with live wire. They don't cover installation that I had to pay the electrical company to put new breaker in. They cancelled service and they told me I would get email with the cancellation and never got one. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY.

    My electric stove just blew up 4 days ago period. I also noticed I had a leak coming in from my bathroom to my kitchen and that may have been the cause my stove problems. I called the Select Home Warranty. They gave me two claims. Said they would be email to me. I got nothing an email. It said someone would call me in 24 hours. I waited and no one called. I called them only to get ran around and told no one can come out for appliances for three to four weeks. They told me to get someone, see if they approve it and they would pay me back.

    I advised them that is not why I got a home warranty. It was someone in a foreign country with children playing in the background and I could barely understand them. They are waiting for me to get someone to repair it and decide if they will reimburse it. This will not happen. I call every day and ask for a supervisor and I get the same guy saying, "Our supervisor does not talk on the phone." Is a very, very shady company.

    Be wary about this home warranty company and be sure to read the small print. They do not cover freon leaks and they used that as an excuse not to cover my a/c condenser which failed because of normal wear and tear. They also only pay the depreciated value for an item that needs to be replaced. So, if you have an old appliance that fails, they pay virtually nothing. Bottom line is that my experience with this company was terrible.

    First of all if you want a policy to use primarily for A.C. do not use them. They will find any small detail to not cover repairs. I contacted them on Wednesday morning to file a claim because the A.C. was not cooling and there was ice build up outside on the unit. They contacted a contractor, who did not show up until 8:00pm Wednesday night. This is Texas so it is extremely hot during the day. The following day we did not hear from the contractor, so I called Select Home Warranty to see if they had a diagnosis yet around 11:00. They had not received one, so I contacted the contractor. He said he had already sent it in and that he was planning on being at the house that evening to fix the AC.

    So I contacted Select again and they said that they had not received anything. I told them what he said, so they called him while I was on the phone. They said he was out on another job and when he gets in he will submit the diagnosis and head to the house. Ok. So Friday morning thinking this was taken care of I get a call from my tenant in the morning saying that the contractor never showed/no call. Again I call Select. They said they had not received a diagnosis yet. Again I call the contractor. He said he submitted the diagnosis, had the parts for the ac and was going to contact my tenant to come by that afternoon. Around 1:00 he is still a no show. I try calling with no answer and texting him every hour with no response and this is the owner of the company. Again I call select, they try calling him also with no answer.

    This is now going on day 4 with no ac. I am basically pleading with them to do something. They tell me that can't do anything without a diagnosis. If they call another contractor it would most likely be Tuesday before they could come because their contractors do not work on the weekends, or I can get my own contractor but if I do that they are going to take out another 45 dollar fee, even though I already paid it to the contractor that never showed back up and that if I didn't have a 3 years worth of maintenance shown they would only cover up to $150. All options were worthless. So select recommended not getting my own contractor and they would see if they could find someone else on Saturday. So I get an email sat saying they got a new contractor and he would contact me in 12-24 hours. So we are now on day 5 with no ac.

    Finally on Sunday night the contractor comes by. He adds Freon so at least the house will cool. But he finds the evaporator coil is broken and needs to be replaced and he submits the diagnosis. So Monday I hear nothing. Tuesday I finally get an email, and guess what. Of course that not covered. I left messages 3 times to get clarification from their top manager, he said the only one above him is the board of directors. When we asked before to escalate all the issues we were having, no answer or call back on Tuesday. Wednesday again left 2 messages with no answer/call back. I called the claims department and let me just tell you if a contractor says there is a leak at all regarding your ac, no matter if it's because a part is broken which causes the leak, they immediately shut it down and say it's not covered.

    This company is just in it to take your money and they will do whatever it takes to not cover your claim. And every customer service rep I talked to was rude, uncaring, and unwilling to help with the situation. And I had to talk to a lot of them during this 6 day process. And are still dealing with them. They did not care at all that he was in a hot house for 6 days in Texas. So, please go with another company. We used American Home Warranty and we should have never switched. They came out the next day, diagnosed, and fixed our A.C... with no hassle or issues. This is a legitimate review from an actual customer of select home warranty.

    It takes so much time for someone to show up every time for garden (leaks), air conditioning (broken). We had no A/C, I had to find someone myself, (they found someone to come 5 days later when we had 85 degrees in the home!!) and now they don't want to pay me back part of the service call.     Be careful with them! They told me we are covered when we bought the warranty, only to find out our flip had most issues not covered--they say, due to improper installation. I asked for a refund after having the home 2 days and they took a $75 cancel fee plus $20 service call fee and improperly prorated my usage (even though their own policy says it wouldn't start until closing) (-- they charged me for a month, not 2 days). They refused to properly refund me and didn't care that I could show proof of closing and never even signed their contract.

    In May of 2015 we bought our home and had a 1 year home warranty come with it. When that expired I called this company in July 2016 and bought a home warranty for my home. I repeatedly told the salesman that our furnace was a Geothermal and not everyone worked on them. After getting upset with me because I kept asking if he was sure they covered this furnace I bought the warranty with him telling me I just couldn't have a claim in the first 30 days!

    In March of 2017 my thermostats seemed to be messing up so I called after 2 calls. They finally filed a claim then called to tell me at first that they had no one who could work on this furnace to use my own technician and have them send them a quote. So we did! Then they called and said give us 24 to 48 hrs to approve. The next day we received a call saying they were submitting it to a review board and it would be another 24 to 48 hrs. All this while it snowed twice and was very cold.

    Finally another 48 hrs later we get a call saying "Sorry we don't cover Geothermal furnaces." When I pointed out that I had specified this in contract they said: "OH let us look." Came back on the phone "Oh yes I do see that. Well if you will submit 3 years of service records we will send it back to the review board." I asked for a manager who transferred me to a cancellation department who disconnected on me. I called back and asked for the sales dept. where I told them I was interested in buying a home warranty. I gave them a false name and I again specified a Geothermal furnace to which I was told "No problem and we have a lot of coverage in your contract area." After asking them what the stipulations were they again told me I had a 30 day period which I could not file a claim!!!

    I asked for a supervisor again and was transferred to two different people until finally the last guy said: "Well we aren't covering it because you can't provide three years of routine service." I asked them to refund my warranty money because all I had to do was show them a maintenance record for three years. Excuse me but I only owned the house 1 year prior to when I bought the warranty and nothing at all was said about this. They told me "Sorry we will cancel your account and give you a 75.00 refund." Not even close to what I had to pay for a warranty they refuse to honor. I would buy my dog a bone from them ever again.

    Tried to get in touch with the company for information on a possible claim. Call Friday afternoon with no one to talk to but the answering service. They assured me that I would get a return phone call. (Didn't happen.) Called Saturday morning and talked to the answering service. They stated that they have a note to return the call and would put it in again. (No return call.) Called Saturday afternoon and still got the answering service. Again they state that they can see that I called (no return call). Tried several times on Sunday to get a call back and still got the answering service (no return phone call).     The compressor to my HVAC system was making loud, squealing noises so I opted to completely shut the system down. When I called Select to ask for service, they said they do not schedule service for "noises" complaints. I said the noise was coming from the compressor to the HVAC system and they refused to send anyone to investigate. They said I should call my own HVAC person and have them investigate and they would reimburse me depending on the repairs. Knowing at this point that is the only way I would get anything done, I called an HVAC repair/service company. As a result of the technician's investigation/troubleshooting, he determined I had very low-pressure readings and was lacking sufficient amount of freon. Upon further investigation, he determined the coil on the air handler was not working properly.

    When I called Select to notify them that the technician was available for a conversation, he explained to them what he had found. They called me back and determined, without even seeing my unit or verification from my service technician, that the freon leak was the reason my coil went bad and they stated they do not cover any problems related to freon. This is the fourth service call made to Select for various reasons and they have not covered a single problem. I will be canceling my contract as I am NOT paying them to do absolutely NOTHING!!! They are worthless to me. I wish I had done more research before contracting with them!!

    I have had problems with Select since I paid my $400 last year, they always find some reason not to pay for services. My AC broke down, I have it serviced every year yet they refuse to pay anything towards replacing the system. When they are selling you the contract they say they will cover everything and that all you have to pay is $45. Don't believe them, they are hard to get in touch with, they are rude and they care nothing about your problem. All they want is your money. I am going back to American Home Shield, much better company!

Terribly unhelpful...and I will tell you that I have been kind and calm each time I called in. Just bitter for no reason. I spoke to a supervisor that told me one thing, and the company didn't stand behind it. They will find any, every way or loophole they can to avoid paying out a claim.     My furnace went up a week ago (Wednesday). I made the claim online and had to follow up the next day because I never received a confirmation. They did send a contractor that day and he told me I needed to have my furnace replaced. He said he would call Select and call me the next day. I never heard anything. I called back 4 times over the weekend and each time they told me the contractor had not been in contact with them and I was "top priority" and someone would call me back as soon as possible.

    Come Monday, I still had not heard from anyone. I reached out to the contractor and he stated he was unable to get in contact with someone at Select to report his findings. I called Select on Monday and they stated again that didn't hear from the contractor. I asked if they could reach out to him directly because he couldn't reach anyone regarding the claim.

    Tuesday morning, a claims representative called me and said they were able to talk to the contractor. He then asked me if I had the last three years of maintenance done on the furnace. I told him that I had only lived in the home for a year and would not be able to provide that information. He then told me the only thing they could do was reimburse me $150 after I had the furnace replaced (and they weren't even willing to help me contact the contractor to have it replaced).

    I then asked him if this is something that the salesman should have stated to me knowing that I had just recently purchased my home. He said Yes but he was just trying to make a sale and they do not have to deal with the backlash. I would love to know how I can provide three years of maintenance when I was not the prior owner, sounds crazy to me! Needless to say, I will be cancelling my policy. I would rather lose out on the money I spent than continue to deal with inconsiderate, sneaky people.

    My husband and I have two homes, ** in my name Ingrid ** and ** in my husband's name Robert **. We have made one claim on each policy. My husband on 9-19-16. No hot water was the problem. He called Select Home Warranty and after 3 days hired someone and paid for it himself. My claim was for no heat. The renter called Select Home Warranty and after 4 day of very little heat (Minnesota) the Renter paid for the repairs and billed me.

    My husband and I travel half the year. We do not have phone service. So when the renter calls for repairs we can not be reach, therefore nothing gets done. Bad system.     I have been with Select Home Warranty since 12/30/15 and recently renewed my contract in 12/2016 with the representative Kyle **. Since that time period I did not file a claim until a few days ago. 2/3/17 to be exact to request service on my refrigerator. I submitted the claim form electronically and received a call on the next day from a representative to get more information on my claim and was told that my form was submitted to dispatch. Two days passed and I never received a call from anyone to confirm the form was received or if a repair person had been notified. I must add after having a contract with American Home Shield that had excellent service in follow-ups and call backs I was expecting the same service from this warranty service. Unfortunately, this was not the case, in fact I had a bad taste in my mouth after speaking with Edward, ext. ** that declined to give me his last name when I asked him.

    I explained to him my experience of not getting any confirmation from the service repair person and it had been two days in which I submitted my claim form, and God forbid if this would have been an emergency I had not gotten a follow-up by anyone. He was rude and tried to give the excuse that the order had been submitted to Rick's Appliance, but there was an emergency the reason no one had gotten in touch with me. I was not given an option and nor did he suggest he would submit the claim to another contractor to meet my service request on my refrigerator.

    He (Edward) abruptly end my conversation by switching the line over where there was music on the other line. Before he abruptly and disrespectfully disconnected me indirectly I told him that I wanted to terminate my contract and his response was that since the call and claim had been placed that he could only refund the difference of a prorated amount of 199.96. That amount was an auto draft of $99.98 in December when I accepted to renew my contract and another $99.98 drafted on 1/30/17.

    The prorated refund he quoted was $56.20 after the adjustment. I called to speak with the representative that I renewed the contract with Kyle **, my customer representative, 1-855-267-3532, to explain the bad experience I had and how rude his manager was and Kyle asked that I hold while he spoke with Mr. Edward to resolve the matter. The outcome was negative results, this business has to be looked into to avoid other customers being treated in such a manner.

    I filed a claim with them on a Sunday that my heating unit was not working and it was currently 57 degrees in my home. I am a single mother of three children and one child under the age of 1. I gave them the model number and serial number of the unit in my house in the attic and was told then to wait 24-48 hours then I would receive an email as to who the tech would be that would servicing the unit. I never received that email!!! I had to call them back. I then called the tech company that was going to be providing the service and they could not come out until another 30 hours later.

    The tech diagnosed the problem, sent me an email and reported it to Select Warranty for an authorization to fix the problem. I also forwarded the email to Select Warranty. I then had to wait another 24-48 hours before they authorize the repair work to get done. Then had to wait and schedule another appointment with the tech to come out and fix the problem again. We are now 5 days and counting with no heat. I do not recommend this company to anyone and I am looking into cancelling my policy.

    This the worst company for home protection. My furnace went out on January 27, 2017. A service person came out on Wednesday February 1, 2017. He gave the diagnostic report of the motor overheating and don't run, motor is binding won't turn and told us our service charges. He sent the email to Select Home Warranty. They sent back a email acknowledging they received it. He also sent us a copy. The young lady who answered the phone said that they had not received any email. I told her that they had sent back an email so I know they got it. I was told that it will take another 24 to 48 hours for someone to get back with me.

    I asked to speak to a supervisor whose name is Charles. He told me that there was nothing that they could do about it. It had to go to the claims department to see if it was covered and they had to see why it's not working which didn't make sense to me. I asked him if he didn't know if the motor was covered and he said no so my question to him was why would it cover heating and air if the motor isn't covered. I told him that I would call the Better Business Bureau. I also said that I will give the company a bad review. I have called the company on three different occasions and they have not fixed anything but did receive payment.

    Don't waste your time anymore with this company. The service person told us we were going to have trouble trying to get our furnace fixed with this company. I've called this company out for plumbing problems. I called them up for the electrical problems and also about a refrigerator and they fixed nothing. Don't use this company!

    My washer was not working (Spin option was not working). Called Select Home Warranty added a claim on Dec 30th. Service technician called me back on Jan 3rd. Service technician was not a professional one either. (Some local company). Did not explain what's wrong with the machine. He said it will take few days for him to get the parts. He came and replaced some parts on his schedule.. We don't know whether he changed something or not... We have the same problem with our washer again and called Select home warranty (Worst warranty service you can get).

    Select Home Warranty (SHW) home insurance firm is simply cheats their customers. Please don't get into their trap and get robbed/cheated. I had a problem (not working at all) with my dishwasher ($600 USD) which is just 6 years old where SHW failure to repair nor reimburse for the new one. They sent me an email that they reimburse $125 for cost of repair or to buy new one for whatever I choose, which I had already paid $95 ($50 + $45) for handy man's (two times) for just diagnosis.

    Now I have bought new one, the cost is $1000 USD. After submitting the invoice, now they are telling me "$125 email was sent mistakenly. Sorry for the inconvenience. Now we can reimburse only $100." The similar kind of situation happened with microwave also. So DO NOT trust this ridiculous and dishonest home insurance firm. They are totally disloyal. Folks, you should feel my pain before choosing this SHW home insurance... If you choose this firm then you will be in the severe trouble.

    I contacted Select Home Warranty on January 12, 2017. I requested service in my refrigerator, dryer, and my roof. I received a call saying that the refrigerator was not covered. I said ok, but how about the dryer and the roof. I was told that they were still trying to locate someone for those repairs.     I purchased a home warranty from Select Home Warranty in June and everything was great until I filed a claim in December. They gave me a claim number but never called me back to set me up a tech visit. I called three times and was promised a call back from the manager to make things right but never received one. Finally in January, I called an independent contractor, who gave me an estimate that I shared with Select Home Warranty. They immediately called me then and said they would not pay to repair the appliance but offered me an in-lieu depreciated cost of $125 for my refrigerator. I asked how they calculated this cost and was told, it was at their discretion and I could take it or leave it.

    When I called and asked for a refund, the manager "Edward" was rude and condescending and attempted to belittle me for not wanting to accept the $125. I want my refrigerator repaired as promised and I additionally paid $85 to the independent contractor. I have called back 3 times to speak with Jamal, the "invisible" floor manager, but he is always unavailable and they promise he will call back but we are now at 96 hours and counting with no call from Select Home Warranty. Beware, this is a very shady business with no concern for their customers!!

    I pay for the platinum service warranty I purchased March of 2016. I called in on 1/6/17 at 3:00 pm central time. I talked to Samantha and advised my furnace stopped working and am I able to send a contractor local to diagnose due to the frigid temperature and elderly couple in the home. She advised yes and she spoke with my contractor who gave the diagnosis and his advice of replacing the unit. She said due to circumstance of weather she would expedite and I would receive a call back. I did not get a call but email asking for pictures of my unit and maintenance records. I then compiled and sent in. I have used the same contractor for years as a HVAC tech. He sent me invoices and never had a issue but a cleaning yearly. I still did not get a call.

    I called Saturday and spoke with a gentleman who advised due to the nature of weather and elderly use my contractor and submit the invoice for reimbursement. The replacement was $2000. Now Select is refusing to pay claim stating false documents. I advised this is what I received and never a issue with my unit. If I had any major issues this would not have been the original unit with house built in 2002.

    This is the second time they did not want to pay for a claim. All they will offer is $100. I am paying for a service which does not want to hold to their contract. When you sign up they acknowledge no matter the issue or age Select covers. Well I am finding out until it's time to claim they do not want to pay. I have done everything asked by this company. My unit has been maintained as it has lasted 12 years. Their contract all units are covered in good working condition, which is proven my unit is as I still have it. 10.1 of their contract states repair/replacement increases to $2000 after first three months of coverage. Again if this unit was not maintained it would not have been in service this long.

    I purchased the top of the line home warranties from this company for our primary home and a rental home that we own. I received a call from my renters stating that the hot water tank is leaking and they don't have hot water. I placed a claim with Select Home Warranty on 12/29/16 early in the morning. I received an email on 12/30/16 stating that they have assigned a contractor to go look at the hot water tank. I called and talked with contractor and he said that the hot water tank needs replaced and he submitted this to Select Home Warranty.

    I then called Select Home Warranty to expedite this since we are coming upon a Holiday weekend. Select Home denied the claim because the contractor had stated the "drip leg was originally installed improperly and upside down". I let the contractor know this and he said that the drip leg has nothing to do with the water tank leaking and he had never heard of this. Bottom line, Select Home Warranty will deny a claim for any reason they can find. This hot water tank is from 1991 and needs replaced. So, I will have to pay for the water tank to be replaced even though I paid for the Home Warranty. I will not renew with this company. They are slow to respond and will not pay for anything if they can find a way to get out of it. If you do use them, keep each and every receipt from all maintenance on any of your appliances, HVAC etc. or they won't cover it either.

    Over the last 6 months, I have had to contact Select Home Warranty multiple times. On a major oven issues, I am still trying to get resolution after over 4 months of constant contact. They are so unresponsive and at every turn find excuses to give lousy service. I recently was promised by Jermel (Customer Service Manager) an amount to cover a problem for my oven. The oven needs $800 in repairs, he only authorized $200. Now, when the documentation came through to sign, they are only authorizing $130. I then called back to the customer service department to get a resolution. I was told that they had to deduct the $45 service fee. I then had to explain that I paid the $45 service fee to the technician that came out earlier on the call for the service. The person on the phone had no authority to fix anything and had to defer to Jermel who is now supposed to call me back.

    Even if they found a justification to charge me $45 co-pay again, the math is $200-$45 which is $155 and not $130. Seriously, don't walk away from this company. RUN RUN RUN. BTW, years ago, I had **. I remember having to process a claim for a major repair. The experience was straight forward, honest and easy. There is absolutely no comparison with Select Home Warranty. I repeat, Select Home Warranty is a terrible company. Do not do business with them!!! I wish that I could give a ZERO star rating. This company is TERRIBLE, and Jermel is awful.

    I submitted a claim online and the form states "a claims rep will contact you shortly." No one contacted me so I called and was told that a claims rep would call me in 24-48 hours then they will talk to me about getting something scheduled, which might take another day or two. This is not the prompt service I was sold on when I bought my plan. Meanwhile, we have a broken toilet that is leaking. If it is a really big problem or emergency, I can't imagine waiting 24-48 hours just to get a call back from a claims rep at Select.

    I had a plan with Select Home Warranty for 4 months when I had occasion to use it to get my dishwasher repaired as it wasn't draining properly. When I placed the claim I was told the contractor, Delta Appliance, would get in touch with me within 24 hours. 36 hours went by and I finally had to call them. They didn't want to come out for another 5 days but I convinced them to make it 3 days. The serviceman came out, said we needed a new drain pump, collected his $60 service fee, and said it would take about 2 days to get the part. 3 days went by and when I didn't hear anything I called Delta. The person that answered the phone said "oh they didn't call you" and said she had to look up the information and would get back to me within 10 minutes. Within 10 minutes I got a call from Select stating that my repair had been approved and that they'd pay for the part but not the labor.

    I told them there was nothing in their contract that stated they didn't pay for labor as I'd read the whole thing twice but they cited some paragraph toward the end of the contract (it wasn't contained in any of the paragraphs regarding each appliances repair) where it was buried at the very end of the paragraph in the incidentals they didn't cover like door handles, damage to the surface, etc. and the mention of the installation in that paragraph made you think it was only referring to items in that paragraph but they use it to get out of paying for the labor. I asked how much the labor would be and they said about $90. I promptly cancelled my contract and told them what they could do with it.

    When the cancellation department called me back to see why I was cancelling and when I told them about it they claimed it was how they kept the cost of their contracts down. Now I'd done plenty of research before signing with Select and costs were all the same within a few dollars of each other and the only thing that varied was the service fee depending on the service fee amount you picked. I complained to the Better Business Bureau but all the company did was refund the most recent payment they'd collected. Now it's on to the Attorney General to get them for fraud.

    In January 2016 we were looking for new home warranties for our new house purchase. Select Home Warranty seemed to have the best rates. Other home warranty companies also contacted us and several of them said NOT to go with Select Home Warranty. We ignored their advice and went with them anyway. In March 2016 our garage door opener broke and we couldn't get the garage door opened. I called SHW to file a claim. Since our cars were stuck in the garage and we needed to get out we needed urgent service. SHW told me to go ahead and find a contractor and get it fixed ASAP and that SHW would reimburse us for the cost minus the service fee. I found a contractor, they came out within several hours, fixed the garage door, I paid $200 and we were taken care of.

    I submitted the receipt to SHW for reimbursement. Over a period of 6 months, I got passed from person to person and never received my reimbursement. I had to resubmit the reimbursement several times due to it not being in the system. I got disconnected several times and was put on hold for as long as 30 minutes on other times. Some, not all, of the customer service reps were rude and seemed overworked. To make a long story short, I finally received the reimbursement check in September.

    On December 6, 2016 I filed a new claim for plumbing issues. The claim was filed, a service rep called me and confirmed the claim. She was not pleasant and seemed a bit rushed. She told me that I would get a confirmation email along with a list of contractors to call within 24-48 hours. As of this writing (December 19, 2016) I still have yet to receive that email. Once again feeling left out and forgotten. The feeling that I now have to call them again, be put on hold, talk to a rude customer service rep, and be told my claim is not in the system, passing the buck again.

    At this point, I've come to the realization that SHW is incompetent, poor management and customer service, and really just wants your money upfront. I already paid in full for the warranty. They got my money and I hope they are happy. I'm taking my business elsewhere and filing a complaint with the BBB. In a nutshell, DO NOT choose Select Home Warranty unless you want bad, slow, or no service at all. Go elsewhere.

    I started having issues with my Furnace in Sept 2016. I am still awaiting Repair. All contact has been through email. Each email says I will hear back in 24-48 hours. I have had to contact them repeatedly to find out when a Technician would be assigned to my Repair. The first (2) times they assigned the same Contractor - who DOESN'T do repairs on Gas Furnaces.     I had so bad experience with Select Home Warranty. I purchased home warranty for a year $449.99 for a little single family house. One day my stove stop working, called Select Customer service, they find a third party contractor to the house. The contractor said the stove is old and does not worth to fix. Then go away (I have to pay $45 copay to him). According to the contract, Select will pay me $100 and I will buy a new stove myself. But, they never pay me the $100. I call the company many times, they just don't care.

    It is crystal clear in my case that Select Home Warranty makes all effort to NOT cover our failing HVAC system. My husband and I purchased our home in April of 2014 and maintained our HVAC through a professional and licensed contractor since we bought it. Now Select home warranty requests 3 years of maintenance which we don't have simply because we HAVEN'T BEEN IN OUR HOUSE 3 YEARS! So when the contract says, "This Agreement covers household appliances and systems when they become inoperable due to normal wear and tear," THEY LIE! It only applies if you can show 3 years of maintenance record like the contract says at the bottom of it! This is a shame!

    I specifically asked the rep before buying if our old HVAC would be covered and the answer was yes without ever mentioning the need of 3 years of record! I totally feel I have met the requirements they asked of me but THEY DON'T! Also they refused to cover a simple plumbing leak. Reason? It was not properly installed!?! SERIOUSLY!!! Our home was inspected twice before we bought it! Bottom line: They don't care but trick you into thinking they will be there for you. They are WAY OVERRATED!!! This company is BAD, BAD, BAD! I am so glad I didn't buy a 2 years contract. I wanted to check how good they were and I am thankful I did. They won't see a dime from me at the end of that contract!

    This company is the absolute worst!!! We signed up when we moved into our new home last year. We've ONLY filed 2 claims. The 1st claim was for our washer. It took them almost 2 months to find a contractor to even contact us! LUCKILY we still have our warranty with Samsung & it got fixed within a week. I had to constantly call them that week & have talked to some of the rudest customer service reps EVER! The 2nd & final claim was for our garage door opener. First they sent my claim to a PLUMBER!!! That took 4 days. Then they finally assigned it to the RIGHT contractor, who was superb! That took 3 extra days.

    The problem was when the contractor contacted SHW to get an approval for a new one, they gave him the run around that lasted 2 more days! The contractor told me that they asked him to get a generic or the cheapest one he can find & the contractor told them that there is no such thing. After all this wasted time, my coverage ended but my claim is still open. They TRIED to tell me that they can't cover to replace it. I had to fight tooth & nail for them to transfer me to speak with a manager! Ultimately, they only partially covered it & I came out of pocket for the rest!!! THEY ARE ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE!!! SCAMMERS AT ITS FINEST!!!

    I have had this warranty company for a little over 1yr and they have been the worst company I have ever used. I went with this company since they covered roof leaks. I bought this warranty when I bought my house a little over a year ago. My first issue was a roof leak which they would not cover since it cost $650 to fix and it was within 3 month of me buying the policy. They told me the most they would pay was $150. Which I accepted.

    The second was a cracked stove top which they did not cover due to someone dropping something on it. This was understandable. The third was a hot water heater leaking. Which they told me they don't cover leaking hot water heater. The fourth was my ac unit was not working. They sent a tech out and it was my blower motor. They would not cover since I did not have 3 yrs of maintenance records on a house I have only been in for a little over 1yr. I had to take legal action for them to reimburse the money they owed for the repairs. Do not buy this home warranty. My experience suggests that if the repair cost is more than $150 they will not cover it.

    The furnace has gone out at my house in Colorado on a Saturday night. This is urgent, obviously, because the temperature is expected to go down to 20 degrees overnight.     DO NOT BUY YOUR HOMEOWNER WARRANTY THROUGH THIS COMPANY! Their Customer Service is the worst I have ever dealt with. I have put in 2 claims with the company. The first one was for broken water heater. When I originally put in the claim they told me it would be about a week before they could get anyone to my house. I told them that was unacceptable since I was having 10 people staying at my house in two days. I was irate. I will say Jonnel was helpful and did finally find a plumber to come to my house. My water heater was not repairable and they told me they would only give me $150 towards a new one because it was 15 years old. A new one costs $1200-1500 fully installed. Not acceptable, but that is all that they would do.

    Second claim was for our dishwasher. I put in a claim and had not heard anything for 6 weeks. I sent them an email and then I got a call. They said that they have not been able to find a tech in my area. Are you kidding me??? That is BS. Then the guy goes on to tell me that I can call a tech and get reimbursed. This is NOT Acceptable. I will have them get the tech out and pay my $45 service fee. I'm not going to pay for it and then wait for them to reimburse me. This company is awful. DO NOT Buy a HO Warranty from them. They should be put out of business.

    I called Select Home Warranty to file a claim on Nov. 23rd, 2016. As of today 11/30/2016 I have not had a contractor call to set up an appt. to look at our non working heating system. I have called the warranty company at least 2 times daily to see if they have a number for me to call.     When signing up the policy they do not disclose all the loops on what is covered and what is not. I called in to get a report a claim about a cook top vent fan underneath the built in microwave. First I had to go through two agents to get my claim in and then I get a email saying the claim is denied as the value of the microwave replacement is greater than the allowable amount. I could get the microwave replaced myself but will only be refunded a portion of the cost. This assessment was done without even confirming with me what I stated as the problem.

    Secondly I called to clarify that the microwave is working fine but the vent fan below the microwave is the issue and they instantly said the vent fan is not covered by the policy. Lesson learnt is to always read every single line of the contract before signing anything. I cancelled my policy and had to take $75 deduction from the original price as that is their policy and the sales person will never disclose that when selling the policy. Overall a very sour experience and will never deal with this company again.

    I had issues with my heating system. I filed a claim with a representative over the phone and they took down the claim information and said that they will have a contractor call to schedule an appointment. The contractor who came to my home was very professional and knowledgeable. He explained the issue and what was done to repair it. I have not had any problems with my heating system since then.

    Save your money, these people are complete scammers in every way. I could not find any service people within my area that would work with these people. They are late on their payments and as a result no one with work with them. Unfortunately I did not ask around before I spent the money. It has been over 2 months trying to get a refund. I have folders full of emails and notes on my attempts to get a refund and at every juncture I am told to "be patient", "the check was sent out", "wait a few more days" and don't expect to be treated politely or with respect. These people are rude, obnoxious and abrupt. People must really be hard up for a job if they are working for a company that is a complete scam and feel customer service is taking your money and not providing any form of reputable service!! Stay far away!!!

    My water heater broke. Select Home Warranty hired someone to come to my home and make repairs. When the contractor came he said that my water heater needed replacing as it was not worth repairing. Since my water heater was old Select offered to pay $500 towards a new water heater which I gladly accepted. I was thrilled with my policy.

    I closed on a house in June, I chose Select warranty, and as soon as I move in and contact Select in regards to my contract, I was met with a beyond rude associate who asked for my contract info. Telling him I'm looking through my paperwork for it, he states he doesn't have time to wait, told me when I find it to call him back and then hung up on me. That's my first complaint. I immediately then called another warranty company and opened a contract with someone else.

    Since then I, and my title company have been trying to collect the $500 refund check. This company has supposedly sent multiple checks and issued stop payments on them just as quick, but no one has seen a check anywhere. I last spoke with them 3 weeks ago, my title company conference called them and they were issuing the check as we spoke. That also was a lie. There is still no check to be seen. Select Home Warranty is a company that doesn't care whether you're satisfied or not, and if you stop business with them, they just give you the runaround. Your personnel have no integrity or respect.
