    AC unit died. Technician show up two days later. Charged $60. Verdict was unit is too old to fix and need to replace for $5600. I call 3 different contractors all saying the same. There is no visible problems but unit is too old. I get the letter from Choice that I am in title for $150 reimbursement, only I have to provide inspection list. So I did, after that Case been declined because of imaginary Freon leak. I feel like they just rub me and tell me to take a hike. Wary dishonest behavior. I call and try to connect to Manager of Claim department. THey have policy not to connect and not to give names. They have policy to DENY.

    If I could give this company zero stars, I would. They are complete scam artists. My appliance is broken and rather than fix it like the contract states they should, they are trying to give me a prorated amount that will cover approximately 1/3 of the repair. I have been a customer of Select Home Warranty for approximately two months. My washing machine started giving me issues in July. I called Select. A repair person of THEIR choice was sent to me. The contractor looked at the appliance, diagnosed the problem, and told me it would take Select 3-5 days to approve the repair. I paid him the $45 service fee in a check on July 14, 2018. Note: he wanted to be paid in cash and offered no receipt for the visit despite my request and assurances it would be emailed to me.

    After 8 days, I had not heard anything from Select on the repair and called them. They informed me the technician had not called in the repair to them at that time. This is a breach of our contract, as the services were not performed I had paid for as a result of our contract. They asked me to send the check to them, which I did and got a confirmation on July 23, 2018 at 7:11 pm. Later when I called, they denied this first contractor had even been to my house and had no records of it. When I presented email evidence, that story changed.

    Select sent a second technician to my house since the first one did not complete the work or diagnose the problem as he should in our contract. Select waived the service charge, as they should, due to this not being my fault. They told the contractor to collect $45 from me, which created an awkward service call since both of us were expecting different payments.

    Select Home Warranty reviewed the claim from the second contractor and determined they would like to buy me out of the product rather than replace it. They offered me $200 for the appliance, NOT to repair or replace the appliance as I had been promised when I purchased the contract. (I have the emails from the salesman stating this would happen prior to signing up; I offered them to the manager at Select, but he was not interested in them, since it did not prove his side of the story) I spoke with a manager finally who when I offered to give him evidence showing what I had been told, refused to take it saying it was irrelevant.

    After between 20-25 hours worth of calls that go no place, I have canceled my contract. I paid $1,050 for the contract. My refunded amount is $850. The reason is this: $75 cancelation fee, $41 for months I had the service, and a $75 service fee for the second contractor they sent out. So not only am I being charged for the 2 months they didn't do what their contract stated, but they are charging me for the SECOND contractor who had to come out when the first one stiffed me. This is in breach for two reasons. First, the service fee we agreed to is $45 which I paid. Second, they are double charging me at a higher rate for the second technician. This is wrong. It is fraud and theft. They are in breach of the contract on multiple avenues.

    Whatever you do, do not purchase a home warranty from this company. They are complete scam artists who have no intentions of honoring their contract with their customers. I see the reviews on here being high and I have NO idea how this is possible. I look at the BBB, Yelp, and every other site I can see to review this company, and the ratings are in the tank. Look around with your eyes at this company.

    Do not be fooled by their fake promises of good service and a lower price. I cannot stress enough how poor this company is to work with as a customer. The motto of their company should be we are escalating this and someone will call you back in an hour. That is what you get from the salespeople each time you call to check on the status of your claim, but nobody ever calls you back. Avoid this company at all possible costs. They are a complete sham.

    I was not overly impressed with the process. I called to report my issue with my air conditioner. I had to keep asking questions about each step of the process. I had to call back the next day to follow up to get the ball rolling. The air conditioning company, Dale's they sent was absolutely terrible. It took him 3 days to fix it, he got into a confrontation with the neighbor and he talked nonstop. I was happy he finally got it fixed but he was not pleasant to work with.

    The renewal was easy and painless process. We have had 1 good experience with a fix, and 1 bad experience. Our washer was fixed really fast with a reputable company. The company they sent out about our HVAC issue was horrible. They tried to get our policy invalidated by saying our system was installed incorrectly and wired wrong. It took paying another company to come check the system for Select to consider the first company was wrong. They still haven’t responded about fixing the problem, so we paid another company to fix it. It cost us $12 more to get it fixed than we would have had to pay as a deductible.

    I purchased my house in Nov. of 2017 and purchased my policy in Dec. 2017. I had an issue with my AC in June. I call for service. The fan blower had to be replaced. The AC technician sent his diagnosis and estimate of $135 to replace. He charged me $460.00. The claim was approved in full for $135.00. I explained that I paid much more than that and they asked for receipts. I sent receipts. It took several follow calls over several weeks. I was told it was approved in full. They sent the RA form asking me to agree to $150.00 reimbursement. I call to remind them I paid $460.00 and it was approved in full. I'm told I need to submit 3 years of maintenance records to release the full amount.

    I search the property for records and find everything I needed in a folder in the furnace. I send 3 years of maintenance records. I wait another week and call to follow up. I'm told it is approved in full and will receive a new RA form. I call today to follow up on the RA form as I still have not received it after six days. I'm told today they need credit card statements or bank statements for proof of payment of the maintenance services. WHAT THE HELL? I tell them I did not pay for the services as I was not the homeowner when it was serviced. I get, "I am very sorry, we will pay in full when we get proof of payment." This has been going on for 2 months now. This has been the worst experience, but not the only one. I've had difficulty on two other claims. This company sucks!

    The Sales department answered phones promptly and connected me with customer service when I had questions about the new contract. For example, if an appliance is deemed irreparable, they may (at their option) send a check for the depreciated amount. This causes concern when my HVAC is already 20 years old. The Sales department did keep trying to convince me to sign up for multiple years (significant discounts), but I want to see how the first year goes. Customer service did ease my concerns about their process on determining what is irreparable, but it did give me pause in this purchase.

    I submitted a claim because water wasn't flowing well out of my shower. They told me that I had needed to add a fixtures coverage to my account in order for this to be covered. I did so, and everything turned out ok. I am waiting for them to get someone to my place as we speak. However, I did have some problems with customer service over the phone. One time I called Sales to add the coverage to my plan, I said I had a policy number, and I didn't even have a chance to finish my sentence before he rudely interrupted and said, "I'm transferring you to claims."     I was given multiple time and service options. That was helpful to know. However, better negotiability on price would be desired. It is also unclear on number of claims to be made at a time. The deductible applies to each claim, even if multiple issues may exist. That should be revised to allow that, so you are not paying multiple deductibles.     I do not even know where to start, there have only been only bad experiences with this company. Rude, ineffective customer service, you get transferred from representative to representative, all asking the same questions. There are no services covered.     When my microwave broke I called in and put in a claim. They got back to me the same day to tell me that they would just give a reimbursement to use toward a new one, since my microwave was so old. I was satisfied with this. But, I am no longer satisfied since I bought my new microwave and submitted the recipe, and Select has yet to send me a reimbursement agreement. Which they promised I would get in 24-48 hours. It has been a week. I just spoke with them again and they keep saying they are working on it. I then asked how long it would be after I fill out the agreement until I receive my reimbursement check and they said about 30 days. This just seems ridiculous.

    We were first time home buyers with many years of rental history & weren't sure if we were prepared for all of the eventualities of homeownership.     It’s been very much a struggle to get an AC compressor fixed or replaced. Claims has been VERY slow in responding. Still not resolved. Claim was submitted on 7/13. It’s now 7/29 and no resolution yet. It is the middle of the summer in FL. Claims says they will get back in at least 24 hrs, usually takes 4 days or more and each time they ask for something else. 1st time, a photo of the unit. 2nd time a copy of 3 yrs of maintenance records.

    Select Home Warranty Company is the worst company I have ever experienced in my life. They 1st approve my A/C repair, then deny my service, and finally try to change the contract term. I bought Select Home Warranty due to their Sales Person's recommendation. He told me that I only need to pay $35/month plus $45 service fee for their service, also I have 30 days waiting period (I thought the deal is better than American Home Shield because of price). I let him go ahead and signed me up so that I do not need to worry about if something break down in my house. I was wrong.

    After about 40 days, I do not see my house cool down as fast as I expected. I called Select Home Warranty and they approved my repair request on the 2nd day and dispatch the A/C repair guy. The guy drive his own car with no company logo come to my house after one week, he look at my A/C unit outside house and told me that my fan motor need to be repaired without even testing. I ask him how long I have to wait and he told me that he can get fan motor next day but he have to wait for approval from Select Home Warranty.

    Next day, Select Home Warranty e-mail me to ask me to send them the picture for the A/C unit that need to be repaired plus my previous repair and maintenance record for that unit. I e-mail them the picture and inform them my A/C unit were taken care of by American Home Shield warranty company (Now, I know American Home is much much better than Select Home) year ago and I do not keep any record of it.

    After 4 days, Select Home Warranty call me and inform me that I have to wait for 60 days to request for repair. I told them that the salesperson told me 30 days and never heard about 60 days waiting period. Then, I e-mail them about the situation to claim department asking to clarify. Next day, Select Home Warranty call me again and told me that my fan motor was not covered. I told them the fan motor should be covered after 30 days base on the contract. But, they insist that it was not covered because of my A/C brand is YORK. I ask them to e-mail me the reason of deny service because I can not trust any words they said on the phone. As of today, I neither receive any service nor any e-mail. I have been without A/C for 3 weeks now after paying $$$ to Select Home Warranty and $$ to A/C repair guy. I thought that I can have peace of mind after having Select Home Warranty instead I got headache.

    As a homeowner, I signed up for Select Home Warranty in 2017. I submitted a claim for a/c repair. They did not follow up despite by claim submission for whole week while it was 105 degree in July 2018. My Claim # **. My Select Home Warranty policy # **. Select Home Warranty contact t# 1-855-267-3532. I was told to get it fixed myself and was promised they will all re-imburse. I followed all procedures - took pictures or repair/bills, made them talk to technician, everything as Select Home Warranty asked me to do. Yet, after all the work that I got done, bill was $758 and I get a subject to terms and conditions speech and got reimbursed for $150. My yearly premium is $399.

    I strongly believe this is a bogus company to pay you for repairs up to $399 or less and escape from anything major and doesn't actually ensure anything that poor resident imagines. Society/Federal-State-City government should not encourage such business to even operate and lure people into something almost like a scam. I would like bbb.org take any action against Select Home Warranty to get any justification for me for not getting reimbursed whole amount of $758. I can provide any pictures or invoices/policy docs that you may want.

    In the year I’ve been under contract I have submitted 3 claims and it has been an absolute nightmare working with this company. And not once has a repair been actually completed. My current claim was submitted 4 days ago. A/C blowing hot air in AZ heatwave. I have called 3 times to resolve but only get the call center reps who read a script and don’t do anything to resolve problems, but no other contact number or email was provided for assistance. I asked to escalate to someone that can help me get my A/C repaired, like a supervisor or Manager and was told “there are lots of managers but I don’t know their names...no one is available right now.”

    You pay for pool coverage, but almost nothing about the pool is covered. Not the heat pumps, booster pumps, or even the water pumps are covered. What do they cover? What am I paying for? I made a claim on my fridge. They tell me it could be the condenser but that it's not covered. I'm assuming they only cover ice cubes and floaties. This entire place is a scam. I want to forget about them but the only reason I'm posting this is that I might save someone from getting swindled.

    I just recently purchased five policies with the company and my first call and claim was denied on my a/c unit because Select Home Warranty said I had a dirty air filter. I had to call back five times to get a tech to the house and they found out it was circuit board and heating kit and offered to pay $150 towards the $800 cost unless I could come up 3 years maintenance records. I had American Home Shield for 8 years and showed I had service and it would take several weeks to get the maintenance records from the vendors. This is while it has been over a 100 degrees for the past two weeks in south Texas on 7/25/2018 and my children are sweating into their morning Cheerios cereal every day.

    When I signed up for the 5 policies they never mentioned maintenance records and completely insulted every other warranty company I mentioned and said they were a superior company in every facet of the business compared to the competition. Every time I called to check status of my claim they implied I was at fault and they would call out contract paragraph numbers to cover their scam of misrepresentation.

    I purchased Select Home Warranty on June 13th. Only July 20th my outside central air unit stopped working. I called Select Home Warranty to file a claim. They emailed a technician for the job. Unfortunately they didn't talk to the technician to verify that he was available, which he wasn't since he was on vacation. Yesterday, July 24th the technician finally comes out to my house and after checking the unit says that the motor has gone out. He contacted Select Home Warranty to get authorization for the repair which they promptly denied. They said that they needed to see my Maintenance records so I called them to explain that I've only been living in the house for 3 years and only had to change the air filters. They said that I needed to find the records of the purchases of the air filters and send to them. I told them that I didn't keep those records but would try to see what I could do.

    The technician told me that the filter had nothing to do with the motor going out. He stated that Select Home Warranty will find any reason to deny a claim since they only want to be paid every month without allowing their customers to file claims. The total cost of the bill was $425 which after I paid the $60 as per the contract agreement left the bill at $365. Luckily the technician was able to offer to split the bill so I wrote him a check for $182.50 yesterday and will pay the remaining $182.50 next week. I don't think it's fair to have a home protection plan that is supposed to cover my appliances but I'm not allowed to file any claims unless I pay for the service myself. I think I will contact a lawyer to see what can be done since this company is not following the contract that they had me sign.

    Select Home Warranty is a scammer. They say everything to make sure you buy a policy. They also do not provide information such as cancellation fee and other hidden fees. Here is my case: The technician they sent only took the picture of the serial and model number of my water heater and check the electric panel and came up with the diagnosis that the water heater was leaking. Select Home Warranty refuse to pay the claim even though the sale person stated that they cover for everything. I don't want to argue with them so I requested for an official report of the diagnosis for the record. They did not send it to me.

    I also request for a cancellation on the policy and request for a full refund. Now, all the hidden fees appear. They charge me $75 cancellation fee, a claim fee of $30 (even though they did not pay for the claim). I have a 3 years policy for a total of $1050 which is divided into two payments. I already paid $500. Now that I want to cancel, they said my policy is $500 which makes it $41.67/month instead of $29/month. Therefore, instead of me getting $471, I now get $353.33 only. I also lost $45 in service call.

    When I called Select Home Warranty for service, I was only going to try the one year plan on a home that I have for sale. I thought it would help the buyer in case some appliance would break down. Because Alan was so helpful and explained the way the policies work, I ended up purchasing a two year plan instead of a one year plan, and that lowered the co-pay and it also added roof leak coverage and two additional months of coverage. I think this was a great advantage over a one year plan. I also ended up purchasing the same plan for another home because of these benefits. Alan was very cordial, explained everything quickly and easy to understand, but was not pushy in trying to get me to purchase something that I didn't think I wanted to buy.     I got 2 policies on 7/20/2018. I called in to cancel my policies on 7/23/2018 and was told it was officially cancelled and I would receive an email confirmation in an hour. I did not get email so I called in again to find out that my policy had not been cancelled and I will be charged a $75 cancellation fee for each property. On Select Home Warranty's terms and conditions page it states, a full refund will be granted if cancelled within 30 days as long as there was no service provided. Geez, I didn't submit any claims for service but the supervisor named Bahoosh ** said they will cancel my policies but I will be charged the cancellation fee because I was given extra months at a discount. This is FRAUD.

    I made 5 calls today and still don't know for sure if my policies have been cancelled. I guess I will have to call back until I get something in writing confirming my cancellation. No consumer should have to repeatedly call in to cancel policies that have requested cancellation. But yet, I called in 5 times and my policies had not yet been cancelled. I'm waiting for email confirmation now. Horrible experience so far with this company and I'm going to go on all social media sites and search engines to leave a negative review if they do not refund me in full.

    We have had two issues, both of which were handled POORLY!!! It's always the contractors fault no one was calling us. Recently our AC broke on a Saturday and turned in a claim, they were quick to set up a claim and referral to a repair person. Well, the person that was referred to us never called us, we called him, his VM was full and we couldn't leave a message. All of the reviews we read on this company were bad. When we called Select to inform them, they WERE NOT nice about it. They couldn't explain how they pick their contractors, couldn't tell me who works on weekends and told me if I wanted to switch it would take longer for the repair to take place...

    We spoke to someone by the name of Edward who claims to report directly to the board of directors and he was RUDE!!! "Most people are happy I am paying something when I shouldn't be paying anything!" We asked to speak to his Supervisor and he refused to set us up with anyone else. I called back and asked an operator, WHO IS SCRIPTED, and asked for the name of a VP and they told me to look it up... When you are not satisfied with their service, AND WE'RE NOT, they refuse to let you speak to anyone in management. THEY ARE RUDE, they do not want to reimburse you, all they want to do is take your money...
