    I spoke with Fred for several minutes. He was quite enthusiastic about the policy and what it offered, as well as what the policy could offer me. He is personable and friendly, but not pushy. I took out a policy based primarily on how he presented the offer. Would I recommend Select Home Warranty to a friend or relative. Based on my experience with Fred **, I most certainly would! I hope that I will not have to use the warranty, but I feel at peace knowing that I have a policy that will cover almost any contingency that my family might experience in dealing with faulty or malfunctioning products or machines or electronics.

    I was not satisfied with my prior HW company (increasing annual premiums and service call amounts- their list of contractors was marginal at best) and after much research found Select Home Warranty. The online reviews were largely positive and the existing customers seemed happy with their service. The salesman Kevin ** (855) 267-3532 x ** could not have been nicer or more informative. He was not "pushy" in trying to get me to sign up and explained coverage in detail. Ultimately, I went with the 5 year deal as it offers a discount, and I can cancel at any time with return of unused premium. I only hope my experience is as positive if I need to use the warranty for repairs!

    I purchased a Select Home Warranty for my home in Winter Park, FL. One of the primary reasons was because I have a kitchen with an expensive refrigerator. Well, about a year later it happened and the freezer section of the refrigerator stopped working. I filed a claim and Select sent out a contractor (Mr. Appliance) and he came up with a total repair bill of $413. I guess that the warranty company didn't like that amount so they proposed to settle with me for $125. I relayed that information to the appliance repairman a few days later and he literally started laughing at me over the phone. I went online and priced out a new refrigerator and the MSRP is greater than $8,000.

    I've spoken to 1 supervisor and now I have sent about 4-5 emails to SHW explaining this situation. My next steps will more than likely be to cancel my policy if they do not agree to the repair bill. And I will also dispute the initial charge with my credit card company. I am really disappointed so far. I had the warranty on my previous home and I never had any issues with Select.

One area of improvement could be training your employees to be patient while on the phone with customers. The sales department was abrupt. They sent out swift electric company... very professional contractor. The smoke detectors should be installed soon. The ceiling fan will be replaced. Our last company was difficult to deal with. The price was right and while the other discounts that I "qualified" for was also appreciated however requesting full payment for five years in advance is somewhat presumptuous. Being a senior and a veteran should not "entitle" me to have my money taken. If you really wanted to help then the offer should be to freeze the cost over 5 years with payment due on the anniversary of each year.

    I was granted a $75 reimbursement toward a garbage disposal with no installation. My understanding was that you took care of the installation and cost of the unit up to $150. I looked online and found a similar unit for $89 and saw that installation would be $170. I feel that $150 would be a much fairer reimbursement. I feel this way since when I signed I thought that if I paid the $49 fee, if I had a problem of any sort your company was going to fix it. I am a little weary with this being my first claim. I hope that it goes better in the future. I am going to give you 3 stars because I have never filed before and perhaps I should have asked these questions upfront. I will accept a partial responsibility.

    I will comment on two customer service agents and the resolution. First, I had requested a specific contractor but was assigned a contractor I had not heard of. The first customer service man was completely unhelpful and stubborn about transferring the work order to my requested contractor. He is on their dispatch list and we had used him before. That agent said it was impossible to transfer the claim. Nothing could be done. Period. Except that I knew from experience 3 months ago when this exact issue occurred with a different claim that this could easily be changed. He refused to let me talk to another agent or supervisor or to research how to make the change occur. I hung up. Redialed.

    Got a second agent on the line who said that it could be done. I was placed on hold and eventually told that my contractor was not on the dispatch list. I contacted the contractor I wanted who was stunned that he was off the list when he had been on the list as recently as last week. So he contacted Select Home Warranty and discovered he WAS on the list and the claim was immediately transferred to him. So ultimately I got the contractor I wanted.

    I give 3 stars because the first agent ranked a zero and the second ranked a 5 star for his efforts. The dispatch ranked a zero for not finding the contractor on the contractor list when he WAS indeed on it. Seriously? Read folks, read the list. But because the claim was easily transferred after the contractor called. I give 5 stars as he is excellent and pursued the claim and Select did the paperwork immediately. However, they denied even a small amount of money to help offset the huge expense of replacing the coil (which I recognize as not being a covered item because the coil rusted and caused a freon leak and it's considered a freon leak not a coil problem. They gave us $250 for the coil on the other unit that was replaced 3 months ago and that was very much appreciated as well replacing the cool is a huge expense) so a 3 star is the best I can give. It was handled very well by some employees and poorly by others.

    Their customer service is the worst I have ever dealt with. I have called 6 times to get an issue resolved. The first young man was very polite & helpful, I wish I had his name to at least thank him for trying to help me. Unfortunately, he did not fix the issue. The remainder of the reps were rude & dismissive and two actually hung up on me while I was trying to get assurance that the issue was fixed as clearly I had been told that in the past with no resolution. As a professional in the industry I would never recommend this company. Learn how to train your employees management!

    I recently submitted a claim for my stove. The claim was not received online so I had to call. It was handled quickly and the servicing company responded quickly as well. They came out and diagnosed my issue. After that, it took quite a bit of time for a response and resolution. However, every time I contacted customer service, I was treated kindly and given all the information available at the time. It took about 3 weeks from submitting the claim to receiving the resolution. I feel that all was handled well except I did not agree with the resolution. However, I did manage to make it work.

    This company is fraudulent. I find it interesting that the BBB reviews are on the whole negative but this site positive. My refrigerator broke and I called. I requested an expedited service to avoid losing all the grocery. After one week they told me they couldn't find a contractor and that I would need to find one. This is not the first time this has occurred. By the third week I found a contractor. He opened the freezer door and water ran out onto the floor which he noted. He submitted his estimate, which they stated was not covered because there "was leakage". There was no discussion, the decision was final. I did not renew the policy. I have received daily robocalls to renew my policy for 2.5 mos.

    I have submitted claims one denied and one supposedly processed. I have yet to receive my reimbursement check. I actually called to see if it had been mailed and was told that you hold all reimbursement checks for 30 days after approved so you don’t have to mail one check at a time. That’s utterly ridiculous and seems a bit like punishing us for using our warranty that we have paid in full for. The other claim that was denied was deemed a fixture even though in order to replace it there was a 2 foot square hole cut in my wall. I have had to fight tooth and nail to get anything covered and to date have not received a check. This is not in any way, shape or form good customer service.

    I am cancelling tomorrow and paying the $75.00 charge and you will probably charge me for services I have never received from your business. To be fair, there is a group of disgruntled customers trying to get a class action suit filed against you. I thought you may like to be aware there are a lot of VERY unhappy customers out there.

    1st thing, I could not understand the person on the phone. Next, when I asked for a supervisor the man just kept repeating himself and would not transfer me to another person. It was not only a Freon issue, it was also something else, but he would not listen. I have spoke with 2 contractors that say they hate dealing with Select Home Warranty. So needless to say, this company is horrible. The people on the phones are rude and do not speak clear English. I think I have spoken to 1 person that I could understand. Does not even deserve a full star.

    I’ve had this warranty plan for a year now. Signing up was easy and the representative seemed knowledgeable however when it comes to serving the customer they will do everything they can to not pay for any major repairs. I only had asked to speak to a manager and was told twice that one would call me back and this never happened. It was not until a 4th phone call and my refusal to be patient and waiting over 10 minutes on the phone did I finally speak with a manager who was very sarcastic and condescending. I waited four days during a heatwave for them to tell me that they would not pay for my central air unit to be replaced because I didn’t have previously worked on documents.

    Buyers beware if you choose this company. Know that you must have written documents showing all previous work done on your home's appliances that you want them to cover and don’t let them mislead you because over the phone you will be promised one thing but when you are in need you will get only a $150.00 towards your $5000.00 unit.     Stay away from Select Home Warranty... I live in Yuma, Az where temps hit 120° fairly regularly. My Account quit so I called for service. Waiting for them to contact a provider and then provider getting back to me takes 24 to 48 hours. Then after diagnosis it's another 24 to 48 hour for provider to get go ahead to fix... IF THEY OK IT, which they refused. That was the first call out, $1050 out of my pocket. They refused to pay on covered parts. Three days later compressor failed, another covered part they refused to cover.

    That one cost me $2500 and another week without actually in temps reaching 120° each day while they played the delay game again. Then when I called to cancel policy I had to endure an hour of them telling me all the reasons I should not cancel. Now it's been a month and still have not received my refund which is only half of what I paid for a policy that they paid absolutely nothing on any repairs made. Nothing but rip off!

    I have been with this company for a little over a year now. I am a widow on a limited budget and have high end appliances in my kitchen. My 42 inch GE monogram refrigerator was aging and I was concerned about how much longer it would last, being that it was going on 15 years old. My husband and I purchased it new at $10,000. I have been a widow for seven years and worried about having to purchase a new one because I would have to go into great debt because the unit is built in. I was told by the salesman a year ago that regardless of how old an appliance in my home was that it would be replaced if it could not be repaired. This is absolutely untrue! I had to have a new fridge so went out to purchase one, I picked a less expensive unit but it still added up to $8300 with tax and installation, under the assumption that I would be reimbursed, I thought for at least 50% of the cost.

    I received an email a couple of days later, stating that they would offer me $125 towards the cost of a replacement. I was appalled and called them to cancel and they offered me $150 if I would consider staying. Utterly ridiculous! I also had to file a claim for a broken garage door motor, it took days to receive a phone call back after calling them several times and then they referred me to a company who doesn't service my area. I used my own contractor and they paid less the $50 deductible, but it took over eight weeks to receive a check for $89. Please don't fall for this company's lies. In this case if something seems to good to be true, it is, especially in this company's case.

    Bought policy over a year, the response time was good, the policy stated: cover refrigerator compressor (excluding seal systems) but when I submit a claim for compressor quit working due to normal use, Select Warranty claims, in order to replace the compressor, refrigerator seal system has to be replace which cause them to deny a claim. Even after their tech they send confirmed this is not a seal system issue. “They should state refrigerator compressor is not cover”.

    I called for an air conditioner tech for a Saturday appointment. The 2nd company wouldn’t return calls to schedule an appointment until I complained & asked for a new company. They came out late Saturday evening & said I needed a new AC. Took a week for them to send in diagnosis & then SHW wanted more & they would never call SHW or me back! I finally had a co worker come out after 3 weeks!! My compressor stopped working on Saturday of the Labor Day Weekend.

    We called SHW to get approval for a new one and told they’re sending it to their review department Tuesday after Labor Day! The AC is the original one installed in 1987! They never let you speak to a manager or get the just be fine. Tuesday I’m having the AC replaced and have reported them to the New Jersey Consumer Fraud department and next the BBB. I am prepared to continue fighting this joke of a company. For every true review, they have employees add fake good reviews because there is no reason they should still be in business!!

    Home Warranty Sign-up Process was easy. I had to call and confirm repair vs. replace process and they confirmed it was also a replace policy and not just repair. The Agent also communicated that the policy was transferrable as we were buying this for a home we were selling. They did try to upsell me to a longer policy, but we were not interested as this was for a home we were selling. The $125 deductible was a little steep, but they indicated for a higher price we could lower the deductible to $60, which we chose not to do.

    Garbage disposal unit is not working. Select Home gave a hundred dollars (100$) to reimburse me for repairs. The representative was very helpful and easy to talk to. But the one hundred dollars are not enough to replace the unit which is priced around a hundred and fifty dollars at minimum. I had hoped they would cover more, however the hundred dollars are better than not having anything at all. In addition the email I got was not clear about if I do not hire a handyman and do the work myself will they still reimburse me. I will need some clarification. All that being said, I finish by saying that Select Home Warranty is a good company to deal with and if you need a technician to come out for anything then they work with really good technicians and good companies that offer these kinds of services.

    All I can say is RUN!!! The sales guys will tell you anything you want to hear to make their home warranty program seem like it’s just the thing you need. READ THE FINE PRINT AND THE TERMS AND CONDITIONS on their website. I truly almost feel like I could cry after dealing with them for the past 3 days. Here a summary of what happened. After reviewing their policy for two days I decided I didn’t like it and wanted to cancel, because everything they promised over the phone was not in the policy they sent me. Ron said “we have what we talked about over the phone in our system and so nothing to worry about when you have a problem”. Yeah right; One lie after another as one would promise one thing and another promised me the moon just about. The head manager told me,”I charge what I wanted as a cancellation fee and there was nothing I could do about it.”

    Then he told me he didn’t care if I wanted a refund. They will charge me what they want as services were rendered he said. After many many phone calls and hours of being put on hold and being swapped around the office talking to different people they just sent me an email claiming to refund the $2,000 I sent them. Save yourself a lot of heartache and do not buy a warranty program from this company for sure. I’m emotional exhausted is all I can say dealing with this company from New Jersey... Head manager Andrew ** and sales agent Ron ** are the two rudest people I have ever had to talk to. Everything is just awesome with these guys until you have a problem or decide you want to cancel hence the positive and mostly fake reviews.

However, I had a call from Ely, one of the supervisors who followed up and explained my inquiries. I told him I will call him if I change my mind.     Misleading and aggressive marketing; terrible customer service. When called for a claim, no email communication of any kind to let me know that the claim did not go through. If I did not call them again to check the status, I would not have known about it and would have spent several days waiting for someone to show up for repairs. The marketing guy mentioned a 30 day trial for complete satisfaction, but forgot to mention I can't file a claim within the first 30 days. How am I supposed to try out the policy without filing a claim. Writing this as while I am getting transferred to the "correct" cancellation department for the fifth time.     Im not one to write reviews, this is my first but after a purchase of a new home we had a water leak in the master bathroom that leaked into our dining room. First off they sent out a horrible plumbing company that was there 5 minutes and said it was the handle of the shower when it was a crack in the floor. We had to pay them $75 for nothing. They were there just to collect a check with no intention of fixing anything. Select Home Warranty did not cover a single thing in our claim. They said they weren't responsible for residual damage. We had a second company come out and find the root cause of the leak and paid out of pocket again. Then when we went to cancel the policy after a month of back and forth calls, they charged us an additional $75 cancellation fee. They give you the run around so they don't have to pay anything, send the worst contractors out possible, and then don't take any responsibility for it. Worst experience ever with a company.

If his charge is more then he has to call for approval. I could not find any plumber in Twin Cities area who will call for approval. They straightway refused service. Called Select to notify of no service and was told another company would handle me. They never called and when I called them, they had no idea of my location and never called back.

    Very frustrated, I called Select to cancel warranty service and was told it would take them 30 days to refund, plus charge a $75 fee cancellation fee which I was never told of. So I went back to my original warranty company and they fixed my issues within two days of my claim, would have been next day if I was available and no payment until they finished the service. I paid more, but I now have a company that does what it claims to do, in a prompt and professional manner, peace of mind. NEVER USE SELECT HOME WARRANTY. THEY DO NOT CARE... DO NOT FOLLOWUP... DO NOT EVEN USE REPUTABLE TECHNICIANS.

    I contacted Select Home Warranty to service my AC and they dispatch a technician who doesn't service ACs. After 2 days of not having AC service I was authorized to call my own technician. I did and my technician performed the repair, but that is a big NO from Select Home Warranty. They were expecting my technician to call them to authorize the work even though they had no contact to each other.

    He replaced the AC and the furnace due to the integration and I had to pay it myself, because SHW is requesting 3 years of maintenance logs which I didn't keep (It was never informed to me that I needed it). We settle for 150 USD for each appliance but I haven't been able to collect yet. I have made more than 20 calls and I am always transfer to someone else where I need to explain everything all over again, then they say like they will send a form for reimbursement and if I don't get it in 24 Hrs I have to call back. The form never comes. I have everything very well documented.

    DO NOT Purchase this warranty. Most Contractors do not want to do business with them. They do not pay them and do not hire your own thinking you get reimbursed. They are full of excuses for not paying. Recently, I had my refrigerator repair case opened and it has been almost two weeks they are still trying to find a contractor who honors their request. The claim process time is ridiculously long and frustrating. I have made five calls trying to resolve this issue with no resolution. My next move is taking my complaint to the Attorney General and Consumer Protection to file a claim for not meeting their obligation. Horrible people to deal with...

    When I first took out the policy I was told that things would be covered more than I have discovered. I would request all future customers read the very, very fine print before signing up. Thus far I have not received my dollar's worth. I'm disappointed to find out all the restrictions by Select. I paid $399.00 for the policy. The salesman made me feel as if the company paid for much issues of the home much more compared to other companies. It's sad we buy into these products only to find out it's in the interest of the company and not the customer. I had gone with Select as I had read the reviews online.     I tried to get help from Select Home Warranty for my Clothes dryer that is covered under my warranty. The lady I talked to informed me that they couldn't find a repair company in my area, (I live in a major city) and I would have to find my own repair company to come to my home but before they could work on my dryer they had to call Select to get authorization to perform the work. The lady at Select wouldn't give the amount that they cover and I have to pay for the repair up front out of my own pocket then wait 30 BUSINESS days before they will reimburse me. What is the point of this warranty if I'm the one doing the work and paying the FULL price. Whenever I would ask a question to the lady at Select she would just repeat the same thing over and over.     I was sold a contract by Nathan ** in January and my real concern, before agreeing to the contract, was what does it mean if Select depreciates an appliance, like a car; Nathan said not to worry that the clause in question is rarely used and most of the time when appliances can be repaired they are replaced. The first time I had to use Select was due to a faulty circuit board on our clothes washer. It took a while, and a number of calls, to find a repair company who came out, checked the washer, and said we needed a new motherboard and/or a new finger pad, and that they would have to get approval from Select. Select said no to the repairs (too expensive) and told us they would give us $150.00 towards the repair or towards a new washer. I have been trying to contact Nathan since the rejection of our claim for repairs on August 10, 2018.

    At first they said he was out of the office for a week or so and I left a number of calls over a two week period. I finally reached him yesterday, August 27, and he said he would review my claim and get back to me in 30 minutes; that was 32 hours ago. Not happy with this company, their service, or their programs. I will be canceling the rest of my contract over 2 1/2 years. Beware of this company and if you have older appliances that they will depreciate them if you need an expensive repair.

    I had to cancel the warranty after registering for the policy in 1 week as I read their contract fully. First time when I called, I was transferred to three reps and I had to repeat the same details of policy. I told them to cancel and they do hard sell and kind of speak non stop without listening to us. They said they will cancel that time and hung up. As I didn’t receive any email on cancellation, I emailed them to ask status and they had me call them to inquire the status. Called again and they said they see it canceled, but didn’t receive any email still. Next day I emailed again to get confirmation and refund status, they said to call again and I called. They said they don’t see it canceled! What!

    I asked him to cancel and he said he is going cancel, then started the irritating part-hard sell. This guy didn’t even listen to me for what I say and continue to argue with me saying why can’t I go on monthly plan and lot of stupid stuff. I told him around 10 times to cancel and confirm the refund status and he continue to repeat this talk on purpose. I hung up call myself as I wasn’t able to withstand his talks further. Got the email after call regarding cancellation and said that refund will be done in 2-3 days. Need to see if they do refund. Seems to me like something fishy.

    So far, so good. Today I purchased a Home Owners Warranty. I bought a three and one half year plan, paid in full. I have a $45 service fee for each use and that is locked in for the duration, 42 months. I can only hope that they use reputable service companies for servicing. I would also expect prompt attention to my servicing needs. I did like the fact that the Warranty is Transferable and I would get a prorated refund should I decide to cancel my Warranty before the end of the 42 months.

    Customer service and signing up for a policy was easy. Great service and excellent knowledge. Customer Service Rep was very friendly and helpful. Hopefully if I have to file a claim it will be as seamless as the sign up process. I have heard nothing but good things about this company.     Just got a call Bruce who was very rude. Am asking him details and about some bad reviews. He rudely answers, "Don't know where you are getting them. People lie." I ask him specifics what is scenarios that aren't cover as I see reviews saying things were not covered. Tells me, "Read online what our policies are." I stated again, "I did but that is still not clear. I want scenarios and more detail." Said he is not going to waste 1 hour going on do's and don'ts. If this is how you treat potential new customers I can imagine how bad service will be. Told him, "Don't trust" and again rudely said, "Well then don't." If you don't want to sell then get another job. Customer service at its worst.

    Signed up for 6 yr warranty, a month later our AC went out, took 3 different contractors for someone to actually come out to diagnose, both compressor and condenser needs replacement, waited over a week and Select Home Warranty still won't replace, and will only cover half of repair cost of $750, which doesn't even make sense to repair vs. replace. At $750, that doesn't even help us cover the parts. The entire process was delayed and drawn out, the contractors used are unreliable, and we still don't have AC in a heat advisory for over a week now. Very disappointed with their practices and service. When I signed up for the warranty, I was told everything would be covered, easy and hassle free. I was lied to and it's very concerning how their sales tactics and services are used to prey on consumers.

The process for registration was very quick and more offers were recommended by the agent such as the 3 and 5-year plans which sounded interesting but currently out of the budget.
