My wife and I purchased our home two months ago. The house was built in 2006 and it's currently 2018, making our home 12 years old. With a little misfortune our tankless hot water unit has decided to stop working. We contacted Select Home Warranty about the situation and they immediately contacted a company in the area where we live. This was 12 hours later. The next day we were contacted by a plumbing company and they made quick determination that the unit needed to be replaced.
Due to Select Home Warranty's process for making a payment for replacement, they determined that they would only cover $185.00 of a $1,600.00 replacement. My wife asked Select Home Warranty personnel why they were only covering $185.00 of the total cost and the answer was that the tankless hot water unit was built in 2001 and they would cover 10% depreciation of the hot water unit. Why pay for something that doesn’t even help.

I spoke with Abraham ** this am and signed up for 5 years. It was a pleasure speaking with Abraham and his knowledge of this company and policies was the reason I signed up. I've checked into many other home warranty companies, and Select rose to the top with Abraham's help. I hope to continue this relationship for many years to come, I also like the fact that this warranty is transferable which is a nice thought as you never know what is going to happen in your lives.

Select Home Warranty had a great sales person whom assured me that they would cover the items listed. As we were just moving into a new home that is 14 years old I needed reassurance that we would be covered should anything happen, especially in the first year. The coldest day of the year measuring temps in the 20s and our heater goes out. It's been 6 days and still no response. I have been having to call for follow ups every single day and each time they want something else and then it will take another 24 hours to "process." How are we supposed to have maintenance records from 3 years ago on a house we just moved into? That is their request. They are not accepting the inspection report or the service record we provided from this year although both prove that the system was in working order as of the date of our contract. They are finding every little loophole possible to get out of paying to fix our heater board.

I entered my home info online and within about 5 minutes I received a phone call. I’ve had home warranties for years, but haven’t tried Select Home Warranty. I’m giving them a try after reviewing their coverage and service charge fee and comparing to several other companies. Home warranties are valuable for unexpected issues with failed equipment. My neighbor is an A/C technician and he recommended Select Home Warranty. He deals with several home warranty companies each week.

It was a good experience. The sales rep explained everything and offered discounts for multiple years of service. I’ve yet to use the service because it doesn’t start for 30 days, but it’s nice to have that peace of mind. I’m hoping everything is covered like it is explained in the service details. We have a little bit of an older home and I would worry about not having a home warranty in the event something were to happen.

We recently had a very poor experience with another home warranty company. Because of that we have been looking for a new company to do business with. We invested a great deal of energy trying to find a company that we can be comfortable will be there when we need them Alan ** did a great job providing guidance and answering questions as we sought a new home warranty. Because of his patience and professionalism we are now new Select Home Warranty customers. Great job Alan!

At Select service It not just the service but the quality of service. I would NOT go with another. Thanks for the best service. The Select service will provide you with all the TOOLS you need to be successful and LOOK like an idiot or look like you are STUPID in any way. Once you have selected Select service you may not want to go anywhere else. Thanks so much with such a harsh decision. Abraham was very informative and answered all my questions and helped me all through the process, he made it very easy. He also offered more savings in the future and explained to me how I could lock in my rare for 5 or 6 more years... I feel he is very caring at what he does as he takes his time to explain the full process, he is an asset to your company... I would recommend Abraham to anyone that is considering a home warranty. Had to update our credit card info for auto pay... customer service was very helpful and quickly took care of it. They even set us our policy information through the email to make sure we have everything correct. She was very friendly and I could understand her. She was very polite on the phone as well as informative. She knew what exactly was going on with our account and made sure that it was still active and also informed me when we will be getting the next auto payment pulled out of our account.

This company is the worst company I have ever seen. They are a scam, compulsively lie, never return phone calls, have left us in dire straits for our ac/heat, and so far have stolen $1500 from my family. My husband is a disabled veteran, I am a student, and we have a 4 year old son. Our income is minimal at best. We have been waiting since August 2018 for them to honor their commitments but as of the middle of November they have not. It is disgusting how they have taken advantage and failed to honor what they agreed to do. Even with names, numbers, and recorded conversations, they still do not honor what they say. The only option we are being left with is to go to court to reclaim our funds as this dishonest and unscrupulous company.

I feel confident that Select Home Warranty is going to be a wonderful company to have my home warranty with!!! The initial setup of the policy went very quick and easy, discounts where huge, so many options to choose from. Look forward to the great service in the future. The plan I selected was to cover my in ground pool as well, I plan on adding other coverage in the future. They had really awesome promotions when I signed up. I hope we don’t use the coverage any time soon but just knowing the coverage is there puts my mind at ease. Keep up the great work.

I liked that the agent took the time to explain the warranty and to carefully, calmly, and completely answer all my questions. In the past I had used American Home Shield and was not thrilled with their response. My hope is that Select Home Warranty will provide better coverage on the off chance I might need it. My only suggestion is that it would be nice if Select sent me something physical, like a refrigerator magnet, that listed the phone number to use for any service calls.

My salesperson was very knowledgeable, answer all of my questions and was not too aggressive with the sale of the policy. That was a plus for me. I ended up paying $100 less per year then the plan that I currently have with another provider and the deductible is also cheaper!! I will be telling my friends about the great deal that I received through Select Home Warranty. I am looking forward to doing business with new company.

It's hard to rate the service when I just signed up on 11/15/18. I am on a month to month plan and doesn't take effect until 30 days, but for now, Sam was nice and told me what I wanted to hear. He seemed nice. Not sure what else to say since I haven't used the service yet. Let's see if it holds true when/if I submit a claim. Thanks.

Select Home Warranty company and coverage is a joke! They look for every opportunity to deny a claim. DON'T buy coverage from this company, you will be frustrated and VERY disappointed! I have called twice and each time they didn't call back, I had to track them down for them to tell me my claim was denied. Please understand I am a business owner and take "negative" reviews very seriously so imagine how bad this company has to be for me to leave one.

Great guy, very nice and did not push me when I told him I could not afford a multi year policy. I have not used the policy yet so I do not know how your service is rating in that respect. Daniel was great though. Thank you for making the enrolment easy. It took them almost 2 months to get my contract to me. I sent in a request last week, maybe 2 weeks ago now, to try and get someone out, but no one called or emailed. I have used these guys in the past and been very happy, but now I am not sure what is going on. I like the online aspect of it but they could be better about getting back to me a bit sooner. I would really appreciate if they would be more diligent.

Select representative reached out to me very quickly to discuss the warranty which was appreciated. He shared with me all of the specials and promotions and advised me of the best option for my situation. He was very kind and informative. I appreciated the quick response time to my inquiry and the fact he shared with me what the best deals were. Excellent and fast initial contact. Recently I did 4th claim. I have this policy since 14 months. Their authorization team is very rude, they don't speak politely. They grill customers to get any information, and they make the claim to get deny and make customers pay from their pocket. They don't have good contractors because they pay very late and most reputed contractors don't like this.
All new contractors they come home with no uniform, no id, no experience and charge the same way as reputed contractors charge. I really not sure how they are getting 4-star ratings. So many of my friends complain about this. I can cancel the contract, however I paid a huge amount for 6 yrs of coverage. If I cancel I have to lose $75 + all repair cost which they paid towards all claims. I didn't knew this before. The sales agent never told me about this. Suggestion to all customers of Select Home Warranty - please keep all maintenance records for ac and heating unit. Make sure clear description in receipt with proof of payment. Also you need to show your bank statements also as a proof of transactions. If you paid cash, then forget. They will not believe.

Just joined. Haven't used it yet. They explained it clearly on the phone. The options were extensive and were very reasonable in cost. They reached out to me several times to be sure that I was getting the plan that was best for me. I look forward to seeing how well they do when I actually have my first claim. That will be the true test. So far, their upfront customer service seems to be top-notch.

I just purchased a Home Warranty from Select Home Warranty and had my first service call. To my amazement I was informed that to fix the problem I would have to pay anything over the @150.00 they approved which will cost me an additional $78.00 above my copay of $60.00. I have had home warranties for the past 20 years and the FIRST TIME I HAVE HAD AN ADDITIONAL COST! Leaving this service as soon as possible.

I purchased the Platinum Care warranty package for my house and 3 condos. They are terrible in honoring the coverage. They don't have many technicians available either in Columbus, Ohio which is a fairly big city. On a couple of occasions they wanted us to find and pay a technician and reimburse us for the cost. It would take multiple calls for them to send the check (typically about $50). Every time we call, their rep told us check will be sent out right away and if we do not receive it, call them again. Then we needed to call again in 2 weeks, then again in 2 weeks. After 3-4 calls, we would finally get the $50 check. I would have given up because it's only $50, but my wife is persistent, she would eventually get it. It's just not worth it and not pleasant experience.
Most importantly, they wouldn't replace the fridge that is beyond repair, although most home warranty companies say they would "repair or replace". When our fridge is determined to be beyond repair by their technician. They told us they can only give us $100 because the fridge needs to be depreciated. The least expensive fridge of similar size costs about $550+tax. After 3-4 times of calls, we finally received the $100. I didn't know when the warranty says "replace", it meant the depreciated value. So if you are hoping they would help you replace your AC unit someday, maybe you would receive $200 which helps you very little for purchasing a new unit. For me, the purpose of insurance or warranty is to manage the risk of expensive repairs and replacements. Their warranty doesn't help me at all.

Filed claim for water heater that quit working. Assigned technician called and made service appointment then failed to show up. No call, no text, nothing. The technician never answered and didn’t return any of my calls after. Select Home customer service advised they spoke with the technician and I should call to reschedule, the technician was waiting for my call. Calls went to voicemail, no response. Select Warranty customer service continuously advised it was high season and I could hire my own technician or wait two weeks for another... So either have no hot water for a total of 4+ weeks or pay out of pocket and wait up to 30 days for reimbursement of what is considered approved charges minus $75 trade fee.
I paid $575 for one year warranty so I would have peace of mind knowing I’d pay no more than $75 to fix anything that breaks and to not worry about chasing down a technician to repair quickly. I made the wrong choice for sure and next year will choose America’s Preferred Home Warranty for $460 with $50 service fee (considering I can’t cancel the warranty and get my money back without penalty). As a person who influences home buyers’ and sellers’ home warranty purchase choices in a large metropolitan area, I will ensure they choose any company EXCEPT Select Homes.

Stove self cleaning. Turn on self cleaning (locks oven door), When cleaning is over and oven is cooled off the door or mechanism should unlock door. Mine didn't unlock. So the mechanism or control panel is defective, broke or however you categorize it. Select Home Warranty will NOT repair. They replied and refused repairing saying my OVEN DOOR IS BROKEN.
I called and was told to get my own repair person and submit bill. Then they would decide if they would pay. Even in the Contract I read to them: it does cover modules and control panels.??? So why do I have this company. Any person with 2 brain cells knows the door is not broken. TRY to explain that to their representatives. GOOD LUCK.

Worse warranty company I have ever dealt with. They do not cover repairs and always have an excuse as to why they can't pay for something. Make you pay out of pocket and claim they will reimburse you and 30 days later you have nothing from them. It is so bad that the contractors have told me, "Get out." They are horrible and will not pay repairs and it is the worse company you can be with. Their customer service person Anna is not the easiest and will not hear you out. Not just one but several tech have told me they also do not like dealing with them because they do not get paid. That is why they require customers to pay for service up front.
Their prices may be cheaper monthly but it is not worth the stress when you need a repair. We have been without a heater in 20-30 degrees for 5 days now with 4 children in the house and they are still dragging and telling me we can hire our own tech if we want. Do not use them!! I warn you now. I highly recommend Old Republic or American Home Shield which I will definitely go back to.

I have 5 faucets leak. 4 of them just small dripping, but the other one is terrible leak and the shutoff stuck and can't turn off. I created this claim and SHW assigned Flynn Plumbing first but Flynn failed to show up. Later SHW assigned Roto-Rooter to take care of this case, and Roto-Rooter failed to give a quote. Finally SHW assigned Pete's Plumbing and Heating. Pete's sent one plumber to check out immediately, but the repair or replacement will take some time to complete. Still pending for parts order and replacement happens. So far the experience is good.

My experience with your representative was great. He explained everything carefully so that I had an excellent understanding of what is covered and how the policy works. The only thing he didn't mention was that there is a fee when turning in a claim. But I do feel that the fee is reasonable. It was Easy to start up a home warranty plan online. They call you to verify your order, your information and your coverage needs. Reasonable pricing rates for different home warranty coverage. Great coverage options that provide a variety of things you can add on in addition to the plan. Friendly phone service. Hope I don’t have to use it but glad I purchased it just in case. Good to know if you have to do repairs that there is help to cover the cost.

I secured my own technician for the oven repair job. Once appropriate paperwork was completed, all decisions and reimbursements were done in a timely manner. However, reimbursement was not as advertised (not full replacement cost). Select “prorated” the value of my unit based on the “age of the unit and only reimbursed $100 of total cost. I have yet to be reimbursed more than $100 for any claim I have filed, regardless of the price or extent of the repair or replacement.

The representative was willing to work outside of standard hours so that I could have more time to think about an offer. He also helped to customize the policy to fit my needs. I look forward to working with Select after this first encounter. He answered all of my questions regarding what is included, how much different options cost, what would be the best option for me, how it could be customized, and when it could start. He also said that he would be willing to answer any further questions as they arise.

Had lots of questions. Customer service agent Fred answered all questions thoroughly. I needed to compare all items of coverage with prior policy and also needed a detailed explanation of your claim filing procedures, which were answered clearly. I also liked the fact that if I want to add certain additional items later or want to drop something from coverage, I am able to do that. Hopefully, I will have a good experience with your company.

Nathan was very helpful answering my many questions with full knowledge and patience. I found Select Warranty using the ConsumerAffairs recommendation site and Nathan’s professional service reinforced why this was the right choice for me. I purchased a older house about a year ago, a cape home built in 1933. It came with a service plan from a different company that was very disappointing. Almost every time I had a problem and needed service. I was informed that the house was not up to current code and the repair would not be covered. Regardless of whether they would cover the repair or not I was still obligated to pay their $100 deductible, which I paid 3 or 4 times to find out I had to hire someone else for the repair. Thanks Nathan for letting me know that your company stands by their warranty regardless of the houses age or updated codes.

I had a pleasant conversation with Kevin ** today about information for a new home warranty for my son's new home. He gave me all the information I needed for their home warranty. He was so informative and thorough, I am choosing Select for my home too. I was impressed enough to listen to all the options and much better than other warranties I have used in the past. They gave me many choices and plans to choose from to make an intelligent decision on my own home. Time will tell if Select Home Warranty will stand truthfully and honor all the guarantees on any appliance/home repairs and or replacements of appliances/home repairs that your knowledgeable representative (Richard **) discussed with me and that if I am dissatisfied with the service provided or lack thereof, I will receive a pro-rated refund of the unused portion of my 1 year service. Prayerfully you are an Honorable Christian company that I can recommend to my family and friends. I had a difficult time with my current warranty company--poor service and failure to follow their contract. I researched many other home warranty companies. Some had rates higher; some lower, but none of them had Sol. Sol took his time, answered all of my probing questions, made me feel confident to trust them, and then extended himself to get me the best contract. I will know how well he did in five years, but for now, if you want honesty and service--"You Better Call Sol."

Nathan with Select Home Warranty was clear, concise and covered the options and coverages. He was fast speaking but very clear and understandable. Obviously, he made a transaction/sale and provided me with all offers and discounts available - probably routine offers, but from comparison shopping it seemed better. He also discussed transfer options that were available to me either to a potential property buyer or to another property I have which may not have a home warranty policy.

Mark ** was the customer service agent who helped me. He is awesome!!! He was so polite and honest. Ty for having such people as him!!! The process was quicker than I thought it would be. He gave me a quote that I am very happy with. I believe because the representatives are not based on the number of sales and their commission is by doing the survey helps. I’m hoping this first time experience is going to be as great as my first service I will need.

I haven’t had any issues using my warranty. I’ve had it for several years and have been satisfied thus far. With the exception of one uncovered item all has been great. Adam is always helpful and renewing is always smooth. I will continue to use the company as long as service continues as is. The help center isn’t always friendly but they get the job done. Having more items covered would be helpful but for what we’ve needed it’s been fine.

I would recommend Select Home Warranty to my friends and family as the price is very good and it looks like everything I need covered is covered. I have been shopping home warranties for quite some time and SHW seems to be the best as far as coverage goes.

So far the experience has been great - they were flexible and helpful, now let's see how the warranty holds up! I spoke with James in the cancellation department, I did not realize that the company did not already include coverage on a 2nd AC. I called back and they assisted me in getting the coverage that I needed at a very fair price. I was very happy with the resolution and they even split my payments for me!

I was recommend by my realtor to use Select Home Warranty. I like there are multiple options to choose what fits for you. I believe the platinum one is the best choice because it covers everything. Received a call the next day after I submitted my quote. They answer all my questions I needed. Very great customer service. Even when I call back the next day for more questions, they were happy to answer any questions I have. Now I have a peace of mind if something happens I can contact them if I have any issues with my home in the future.

Good interaction with Adam. He Convinced us to get a 3 1/2 year policy. We called Adam twice to get detailed information from him about the coverage, etc. Adam was forthcoming, friendly and knowledgeable. Furthermore, we are counting on Select Home Warranty to provide excellent service when needed. I purchased a warranty with SHW in March 2018. I was told there were providers in my area who would respond to any claim I put in. My area is Wilmington, DE. My first claim at the end of October 2018 for my heater, which did not turn on when I tried it for the first time in the season, went unattended for 2 solid weeks. The first technician they assigned to my job never returned my calls. Then it got colder out. I was told to find my own technician, but have them call SHW before beginning any work (SHW has to approve the work be done first, which can take up to 48 hours, something I was NOT told when signing up for my warranty). I was unable to find a local technician that would work with SHW because of their poor reputation and runaround on fixes.
The second technician SHW assigned to my job stood me up after I confirmed my appt 3 times, including the morning of, while also confirming my location vs theirs (they were in Philadelphia, PA), which they told me was fine. I was called back by the second technician (Zurn Mechanical) an hour before my appt and told that I was too far. When I called SHW for the fifth time, I was suddenly told I could use my own HVAC company and get reimbursed later, without having to call SHW first. By this point, I didn't trust them to actually reimburse me considering they assigned my job to 2 incompetent mechanics over what became 2 solid weeks of my house being freezing. All customer reps were rude, unhelpful, and foreign. They don't speak English and they don't offer to escalate your problem OR to offer you a concierge representative until you completely lose your mind on them (after 2 weeks of BS).
I was told I could not speak to a manager, and I was told I could not have the employee ID for the woman named Ana who I was speaking with (because I was documenting the backwards info given to me during each call). Instead, Ana just kept repeating like a broken record, in a heavy AF accent I could barely understand "Is there anything else I can help you with?" Yeah, SHW, you can get my damn heat turned back on since I've been paying you monthly for a warranty you are not honoring. Jeremy ** suddenly emailed me out of the blue, telling me he tried to call me back, but could not get through (after I gave Ana my cell phone number). Jeremy is supposed to be some "executive platinum one on one concierge," but can't manage to dial the correct number to reach me. Pls feel free to email him your dissatisfaction directly, should you have to deal with SHW like I did.
I called to cancel my policy on November 10, and was told there was already a cancellation request in my file (no doubt, added by the idiot Ana to spite me). I had not called previously to cancel, but I did just then, and was refunded one month payment. I will be contacting the Better Business Bureau with this information as well. The only nice, English speaking person I spoke to the entire time I dealt with SHW was the cancellation/retention specialist.
They should pay that guy more and promote him to manage all idiots on the customer phone lines, of which I'm pretty sure there are only 2 -- a foreign guy who calls himself "Bill", and foreign girl "Ana," who refused to give her ID (or they just all sound alike). Don't buy a warranty, just save money in a separate fund to pay for things like this, and contract with a local, trusted company in your area for regular wellness checkups for your large appliances. Call Horizon, they actually show up and do the work and only charge you what you agreed to over the phone!

We found you all by Googling results for the best home warranty companies around. Sam did an excellent job explaining everything to us and it was a very good job by him. Hope that we never have to use this but it is peace of mind that we have this to fall back on. We have told friends and neighbors about this plan and hope that they will also contact you with their questions and that you will be able to help them also.

I was very pleased with the service I received from Fred **. He was very patient and helpful in answering all my questions as a new customer. He also offered other options which I feel saved me money. I also feel more secure in knowing I can contact him directly with any further issues. I am hoping it will go as smoothly if I need to file any claims. I would also feel confident in suggesting him to my friends.

Do not by any means sign up with Select Home Warranty. I’m in my first month with them and already disappointed. They will not even come out to my home to inspect my issue, “assuming by my statement” that the issue isn’t covered. Their accusation of my statement is far from what I said. I hope all who reads this will be more educated than I was before they sign up. I’ve heard American Home Shield is wonderful and I’m about to sign up with them while I still have 11 months with Select.

Unfortunately a customer is not able to leave zero stars. After having a problem with the refrigerator and making a claim, we are told it’s not covered. Would not allow us to use our free service call we earned when signing up to come and diagnose the problem and decide if it’s a covered repair. I feel taken advantage of and we post my reviews on social media as well as any consumer review sites. People need to be made aware of this company since there are so many others to choose from.

The salesman was very courteous, professional this morning. When I called in this morning. He listened to my concerns and got me the best price and plan possible. This is my first time using your company, so far its been a favorable experience. I am looking forward to dealing with Select Home Warranty, it's comforting to know that a lot of my appliances are covered. I dealt with another Warranty Company. Was dissatisfied. Isaac did a GREAT job of answering all my questions when I talked to him during this process. I liked him so much that I made sure that I called him back to place my order. Our phone conversation was interrupted because a client of mine called me and I really had to talk to my client. Agent with Select Home Warranty was very courteous and helpful in explaining the policy and payment options. I did not feel pressured to accept anything I didn't want or understand. Very straightforward and easy to complete transaction. Checked other companies online and Select had one of the highest ratings. Reviews from past customers were positive. Have never used a home warranty in the past but, this looks like a good deal to me.

My initial call with Select Home Warranty was not that pleasant but I called back and spoke with a relatively pleasant person. In my first call, I asked if I could take advantage of the two months free with the monthly payment because another company was offering me that option. The first caller (very rudely) told me that that it was not possible b/c he worked at the other company before. I got off the phone with him and called back and got someone more pleasant. I did not get the free two months but at least they were nice about it.

I paid $1050 for a 3-year contract of home warranty service on 5/29/18. On 7/27/18, I was promised $225 for the repair or replacement of my clothes dryer. That amount of money would neither repair or replace it, but I sent the receipt in any way by email. I have never received my money. On 8/13/18, I contacted their customer service and asked that my contract be canceled and the $1050 be refunded. They said they would give the refund but did not. After my Better Business Bureau complaint, they eventually paid $891.67 and ended the contract. This is theft! They did not fulfill their obligations in the first place by promptly paying the $225 that they promised. Breaching the contract, they did not give me a full refund either. Don’t trust this company!

I have no order number and I haven't seen my contract. Didn't get an email from him. I looked in my spam folder and I was going to wait for a couple days and if I don't hear back I'll call him. But other than that I'm excited to be with your company and see how it goes.

I called Select Home Warranty and got right through without a long wait. The person that answered addressed all of my questions and concerns about my policy. He explained how it works, what I need to do when I get a claim and sent me a copy of my policy since I could not locate it. He sent it immediately and had me walk through it on the phone with him to make sure I fully understood it. It came to my email immediately. Great service.

Zachary ** did a great job with explaining the options available, discussing, each level of service, as well as answering all of my questions prior to my decision to purchase my new warranty. I have minimal prior experience with a home warranty, and have high expectations for adequate coverage for all of my home needs. The gentleman was very polite and knowledgeable. He got us just what we wanted and didn't pressure us into buying a bigger package. I would recommend him again to talk with. They are cheaper than most of their competitors. Their service charge for each claim is cheaper than most $60. Have used other home warranty companies, they didn't work out very well, hope this one will be a keeper. They let me order everything online and then have you talk with a representative to finalize everything. I don't like to give my Credit Card info over the phone.

The Sales Rep was quick to answer questions and offer a very good rate. I submit with reservations since I have not yet had to use the service. The submitted star ratings are given prior to any service required for an issue. I currently have another home warranty on this property, that I never had to use, but the rate increased. Select Home Warranty offered me a better annual rate with a decreased service call deductible.

I was so pleased to receive a call from Abraham ** following a visit to the Select Home Warranty's website. He pointed out the benefits, without it feeling like I was pressured. I had opted for the top service because I did not wish to miss anything out when it came to coverage. Then, after giving me an excellent quote, he was able to get a substantial reduction in premium and deductible, just because I'm a veteran. How do you top that!

I just received my policy in the mail, but it had been forwarded from my old address, so I called to have my address updated in the system. Even with such a trivial call, the man who helped me was very polite, listened to what I needed and took care of it for me. So far I have not used the warranty but the price was very competitive for the amount of options you receive. Also they have a low deductible which is very important to me just in case I actually need to use the service. The customer reps treat you very respectfully and professionally. Also you have a single point of contact that you can call anytime without having to talk to someone that doesn't know your warranty details. Good job all around.

I was looking into contacting Select Home Warranty. Via their website. I was contacted immediately by an associate; Mr. Daniel **. He was very knowledgeable, polite, friendly and highly efficient. The policy was all completed in just a few minutes. Amazing. I was very pleased with the service. Excellent. The policy is excellent value for money. The coverage, just about covers everything. All we need anyway. Highly satisfied. I would recommend the Companies service to everyone I know. Perfect choice. I had looked into three others and 'Select' seemed the best choice, and they were.

I purchased a Platinum Care plan with your company for $ 699.00, on 12/21/2017. Your rep assured that this is the best company and the best plan you are getting which almost cover almost everything, and made numerous tall promises. On May 23, 2108, I reported a leak in the basement bathroom with a lot of watery mess around. On May 24 8:00 AM, I received an email titled that "Your job has been accepted," and assigned Nowthen Plumbing to fix the problem. On May 24 morning, the Nowthen tech arrived, looked at and reported the problem to his company. He told me that he won't fix the problem unless his Co has authorization surprisingly even after your email accepting job. He added that he will fix the basement bathroom leak once his boss has authorization from the Select Home Warranty, and told us that he is on phone.
While this was happening, the tech reported another main floor bathroom issue to his boss in order to fix the leak properly. Apparently, the boss informed the Select and I received a similar email at around 11:00 AM, titled that "Your job has been accepted," assigned Nowthen Plumbing to fix the problem, related to the second issue. When this was going on, the tech commented that he didn't understand why his Co his doing this kind of work because in most cases the Select does not approve the work.
After some time, the tech told us that his boss told him to fix the problem (seal the toilet bowl from the bottom and which anyway is leaking now again), and accordingly he fixed the problem at that time. Immediately, after that, the tech told us that the Select declined to approve the work and we should pay him $ 285.00. Literally, we were forced to pay $ 285.00 to the tech plus $ 66.00 as a service fee. Later on, I have to bring in my own handyman who fixed the whole problem in less than half an hour. The Select conducts its business in such a shrewd way that when I filed a complaint with the State Attorney General's office they were able to wriggle out its jurisdiction, and we suffered losses.

The first technician assigned to me didn't show up. The second technician arrived, spent 10 minutes in the house and diagnosed me with a Freon Leak, then said he would be back the next day to fix it. He didn't return. I called the technician and Select Home Warranty and still never heard from them. On the advice of a SHW representative, I hired my own AC repair-man.
After an extension examination he discovered my compressor was broken and THERE WAS NO FREON LEAK. I paid him $2,200 for the repair and submitted for reimbursement. SHW declined the reimbursement because they said they don't cover FREON LEAKS. I noted, there was no Freon leak, and the unit was fixed without any leak repair done. No Freon leak was mentioned on the invoice. So now I was out $75 for a technician who disappeared without a trace who didn't diagnose the problem correctly. And the $2,200 I was denied for fixing the unit. I wasted 10 days without A/C in the summer heat because of this.

I received great service. The salesman was detailed and tried to make me comfortable. He was thorough and tried to give me the best deal. I did not doubt about switching companies. And he even helped me by waiting one day to submit it because of the closing day in my credit card which was a day after I called. And he also helped me to lock the price for 6 new policies I currently have with Choice Home Warranty. I will switch them to Select once the current policies arw due, which will be next year around August or September.

I'm hoping from your ranking that this company proves out. I was treated fairly, answered directly my questions. Offered me choices... did not overly push me... which I appreciate. I'm comparing to Home Choice and American Home Shield. I just hope I'm not disappointed because these other companies were not good for me. I contacted Select Home Warranty about fixing my washing machine. They contacted the appliance repair company that morning. Within a couple of hours the repair company called me and set up an appointment for that afternoon. He was very nice and friendly and was quick to asset the problems. He advised me that the repairs to my washing machine were extensive and out weighted the value of the machine but he would submit the claim to the warranty company and see what they wanted to do. Much to my surprise the warranty company gave me a very generous allowance toward a new machine or I could have the old one fixed. I was very pleasantly surprised and pleased by the amount of reimbursement. They responded quickly and I would highly recommend this company to all my family, friends and neighbors.

At this point I have been satisfied with the process to get a home warranty with your company. Customer service has been good. I received two months free which is good for me since I am retired and on a fixed income. I was able to get my contract emailed to me to have for my records. I am pleased with all of the services that the company provides. I have not had an opportunity to use the service because I am a new customer and have to wait 30 days. I paid my contract in full for the year. If I am having to wait 30 days before I can use the service, there goes one of my free months. Overall I am satisfied.

The gentlemen was very helpful in purchasing the warranty. He gave me a good price and add in the roof leak and ice maker. Gave me a list of all the products and services the warranty supplies. He gave me a great deal on a 5 year warranty so I purchased the 5 year plan. He also advised me that since I was in the Dallas/Fort Worth area the Select Warranty has a lot of good service providers to service all my claims.

I filed a claim for my heat more than 45 days after my policy took effect. For one week they said all vendors were booked for two weeks. I asked them to go ahead and assign and we can work out of the two weeks they refused to do so and said to call back in two weeks. I was then told to find my own and they will pay me back if they approve. Something is definitely off here. I have worked work in claims for a living for a long time and I promise you if you go that route you will never get all your money back. I finally got a manager (allegedly) and they found a vendor. When the vendor arrives he says they are slow and admits nobody wanted my job because people hate working for this Warranty company.
He submits the authorization request... Four days later they deny because it's within 30 days of my policy. Again it has been 45 days after the grace period. The employee literally argued with me that from September 6th to October 31st is less than 30 days. Again, I get a manager and they change the reason to "it's not covered" after they admitted they were wrong about the days. After that they said if I send an invoice for the $1800 repairs they will pay me back $250. It's clear what they are doing here. My contract was only $500 they did not want to pay $1,800 and lose money so they will make up an excuse to deny and offer me $250 as a concession while still making $250 off of me.
Now I'm waiting for my refund check after they are keeping a $75 termination fee for denying a claim for invalid reasons. The people at this company are by far the rudest people you will ever meet who clearly are wrong but will lie and argue with you no matter what. Obviously September 6th to October 31st is well over 30 days but I spent 10 minutes arguing with an employee that fact. I cannot say it enough run away from this company as fast as possible. You will not be taken care of and do not pay out of your pocket you will never get your money back.

Very easy to deal with. USA customer service. Salesperson gave a better deal than what was advertised. Salesperson was quick to take my payment without a contract for me to view. When it came time to pay I was told that there were taxes and fees which came out to be $120 more than what was discussed. I got the contract emailed to me and there was no evidence of taxes or fees just a larger than discussed rate amount. I just bought a home and need the peace of mind that everything will work for years to come. I hope when I need the warranty everything goes smoothly.

I talked with David and he was very helpful and answered all my questions. Emailed copy of my policy quickly. Offered extended term which I was unable to do at this time. Get 2 months free include roof leak, my roof is only a couple years old, so I probably won’t need. Able to pick my own contractor and they have at least 35 contractors in my area. I had coverage with another company that I was not pleased with so I’m changing companies.

Kevin was extremely polite and helpful. He answered all of my questions and together we found a good plan for my family home. I especially liked the same day service availability. One thing to improve. I received an obnoxious amount of phone calls and did not appreciate the constant calling. It had a negative impact and it made me look elsewhere. I also felt that my cell phone number was spread once I requested a quote.

I am currently with Fidelity National Home Warranty and I am disappointed with their Limits of Liability. They have produced cracks in coverage to where it is a surprise to the customer to have to come out-of-pocket for a substantial sum to complete the replacement. I have read through the contract and terms of service of Select Home Warranty and found them to be thorough and forthcoming. I appreciate the transparency in their exclusions and terms. I am also happy to have secured better coverage at a better price. The customer service rep was helpful and sought to make sure I was completely happy. Although I have only been a customer for a day, they have made a good first impression.

All went well during my discussion with Adam. I appreciated the professional treatment and terms of the contract. I was looking for peace of mind and I believe I have found it. I look forward to dealing with Select Home Warranty Company through at least the next 6 years of this contract. I had been talking to another person in our complex and he told me of all of the appliances he had replace in the last two years. He had seven different appliances break down. That was the main reason I contacted Select. I didn't want the uncertainty of not being prepared if something broke down, especially if it was multiple units in a short period of time.

I am in the process of reading the entire policy right now. I am in new clients in the realtor. So far in customer service has been great. I have one clean for a dryer in which I’m still waiting for the repair person to get here. He had his truck breakdown and it’s taking five days. He is supposed to get here today and I will have more information at that time. So far he’s 10 minutes late but I am waiting for him to come because I need my dryer. I live on Maui. Being an island Dweller our repair people are not easy to find. We need patience. I also have a water heater claim. The vendor on this claim I am familiar with they are very good.

I was approached via email. I reached out to ask questions and told them I would call back once I read fine print online. I called back at another number and got Kevin and He answered questions for me and made recommendations. He was very pleasant. The only thing that bothered me was the offer I received via email and what the representative offered were different and It wasn't until I mentioned the online offer did the representative acknowledge it. I wish there wasn't so much playing around. It seems like there are different rates available and it all depends on who you speak with. There needs to be consistency.

Shortly after purchasing a new home we purchased a 5 year policy. Our pool motor stopped working. After putting in a claim the company that we were referred to never called. I contacted Select and they referred another company that did not call either. We opted to find our own company. After getting approval we proceeded to have our company fix the issue. We submitted our claim for reimbursement but the form they sent was a legal document that I have yet to sign. Hard to understand. I am going to call an attorney to check it out before I sign. It makes it sound like I am never going to be able to file another claim.

Original order handled very professionally and nice with assurance that cancellation or changes would be no problem. But it was NOT that easy! Salesperson continued to "push" for longer contract when I changed to a shorter one. Not a pleasant experience. Also I never received copies of both contracts nor any confirmation of my refund being processed. Your advertisement stated $150 off but you gave no discount for military or dual contract after I cancelled the 5year contract.

I purchased an annual plan last year. I made a claim on items covered. When I filed my claim they said it was covered. When a month plus passed, I called. I was told that they didn’t receive my claim. I checked, they did. I sent it again while I was still on the phone with them. I asked them to confirm it with me. It never happened. I called again. Nothing ever happened. I tried to file a different claim a few months after that thinking it was just a fluke. Same unhonorable business. I then received a random letter saying that they only cover up to the amount of a low number, not the same as what I was originally sold.
It wasn’t even worth buying the warranty. I call fraud! Such simple claims to avoid. I can only imagine how much they have paid to keep the reviews high. I too read the reviews before buying. They had the nerve to keep calling my phone and sending texts so much I had to block the numbers. Funny how they contact me now to get more business. Bottom line... Don’t waste your money! Dissatisfied from absolutely no service. Facts. I plan on contacting the Better Business Bureau as well.

I filed a claim with this company for my furnace that wasn't working properly. They sent out a scammer who sent a repair ticket saying my furnace was 7 years old and needed 3 sensors. I tried explaining to them that this was a new construction building that I purchase in March and everything was new. They requested pictures which I sent. They insisted on me sending three years of maintenance record on something that was just installed and only been in my possession for 5 months.
Later I received a letter in the mail stating they will only cover $150 of the cost of the furnace because I couldn't provide 3 years of maintenance records. I was very upset about this and when I spoke to the customer service rep, I became SO FRUSTRATED because he kept saying I need the records, I requested a refund because I paid $900 for any emergency repairs and now they want to adjust the payments in their favor. I never used the service. They haven't did me any service. The company ends up sending me $11.68 out of my hard earned money that I didn't get any service for. I ended up getting my furnace fixed on my own and all it needed was the sensors cleaned because it had collected dust. The contractor that was sent was a scammer and caused all this, and he was hired by them not me.

I actually have no experience to the performance of the warranty company as I just signed up. Signing up was easy but I visited the website after I signed up and was offered 150.00 credit, should have waited as I only got a 100.00 incentive. My salesperson was very knowledgeable. I purchased the Platinum Care Warranty with free standing ice make coverage. I do not see it listed on my plan so hopefully it will be there if I need it. The truth will be in the performance if ever needed.

I bought Select Home Warranty in Dec 2017 for about $350. In Feb 2018 burner coils on my electric range stopped working. I made claim and they sent a repairman to fix it. Had to pay 45 dollars for visit. Then I was told that I have to pay for parts (around 250 to 300). I did that and they fixed it. Next my AC fan motor went out in Aug 2018. They sent a guy to look at it and his estimate was 700 dollars to get the AC motor. Select Home Warranty said they will pay only 200 in this case, and I have to pay the remaining 500. I did my research on the motor and found that I can get the motor online for 150 and a local guy can install it for 100. So I bought the motor myself and had the local guy come and do it. So they never did anything about my HVAC claim.
Next my LG refrigerator went out. Their repairman said, that the issue was with a bad compressor and motherboard. For 2 weeks there was no call from Select Home Warranty. I called them back to check the status and they said they will look into it. A few minutes later I got an email from them saying HVAC claim denied because of Freon leak and that it's not covered. Then I sent in their repairman's diagnosis report. They again denied the HVAC claim, when I was talking about my refrigerator. Finally I worked with LG directly and they diagnosed it as a faulty compressor. They did the repair for under 400. All parts were still under warranty. Clearly Select Home Warranty could have helped here, but they chose not to. So this is my experience after buying their warranty. In all I think I spent some 500 on this warranty in terms of trade call fees and the initial amount. It was a total waste in my opinion. DON'T BUY. DON'T BUY.

Abraham was my agent. He was very polite and had answers for all my questions. Our house is 11 years old and is probably at the point where we will see some appliance issues. He explained the contract and service process in detail: What is included in each system and what is excluded. Appliances are like replacements. HVAC includes one replacement per year. Service calls are within 8 hours of notification and cost x number of dollars. He then looked for additional discounts such as the one for veterans. We are happy with Select Home and look forward to working with them.

I had American Home shield for many years and decided to change companies when I was not satisfied with new contractors they hired. I chose Select home warranty as our new service in July 2018. Price was good, service fee was good. I finally needed their service for my Garbage Disposal on November 2nd, 2018. Called for service and was told that they can only offer me a payout for $75.00.
They refused to send a service contractor because item is not repairable. I explained I don't want it to be repaired because it burnt out, just want a replacement. Then I was told item is not replaceable. Best thing for me to do is either buy one and install it myself or hire a company to replace and restore and they will cash out. I in turn told them this is not what I am paying for... And I want to cancel my warranty immediately because all I need is my A/C to have a problem and get this same response. I am not taking that chance. After several individuals tried to talk me out of it, they finally canceled. I went onto my account this morning, November 5th, 2018 and they took another month fee. This company is definitely a scam.

Had a great experience. Great customer service. Very great value for the coverage. Paid about the same for and a half years of coverage as I did with another company for only one year of coverage. Sales representative was very nice and explained all of the options available to us. Very good deals if you choose for longer than one year. Bathroom fan unit - Customer Service was helpful. Due to the size of the repair, we were told to fix it and we would get reimbursed by SHW. The cost of the repair was $195, however we were only approved for reimbursement of $75. If a technician came out we would have been charged $60 and they would have repaired or replaced the unit. But since we were told to have it fixed, minus the $75 reimbursement, we still needed to pay $135 to have the unit fixed.

The rate provided by Select Home Warranty was pretty reasonable and discounted. I compared a few others and this seems much better. I subscribed for the full platinum service, which covers almost everything in the house including HVAC, plumbing, appliances, electric, gas and the like. I found this service online and so far my experience has been great. I expect the service will be equally good. My experience with the customer service was also good. I will add more reviews once I start submitting claims and get the expected service.

Only reason I gave them a 4 star was because I renewed home warranty and had to call to get copy of my contract/policy. Was transferred to several different people before I again request a copy of my policy emailed to me. The price for this warranty is very competitive and it can be transferred to new home owner or move with you if you do move before the time period is up. Great value for the plan.

I had shopped around for home warranty plans and Select Home Warranty offers the most coverage for the least amount of money and the lowest deductible. I spoke to a knowledgeable man named Adam **. He was extremely helpful and accommodating to my many questions and concerns. He kept his word and stood by the items that he offered me during our initial conversation at the time that I purchased a few days later. Over the years, I have been with a few home warranty companies. Most of them are just okay - it's a toss-up as to what will get fixed or not. I had been with Landmark prior to Select and did not renew because Landmark fought me on a covered claim and never tried to resolve it. In hindsight, I should have stayed with them because Select Home Warranty was by far worse.
I was told by the rep when I signed up that their coverage was comprehensive. This is not the case. I had a water heater fail and nothing was covered. They could not find me a repair person. I kept calling to get someone out and they told me no one was taking the job. Two weeks later (and after I bought my new water heater) I still had not heard from a contractor. My A/C then went out and they told me leaks were not covered. I had an unlicensed contractor come to my home to tell me that either my A/C wasn't working because it was dirty from the dust storms or there was a leak, but I'd have to spend $300 for him to do a leak test. So I hired my own licensed contractor and paid the $600 to fix my unit.
I decided to then cancel my policy. I was told via phone and email that it would take 14-30 for my refund check to arrive. One and a half months later I still don't have a check. When I called to find out where it was, I was told a new one would be issued. Thus I have to wait another 14-30 days for my refund. Horrible company. Be very careful with this one and read through the policy. Customer service is overseas as well, so if you call them, no one has authority to do anything. There are better companies out there. They all have their flaws, but Select is by far the worst of the worst.

I spent $3000 to purchase two platinum plans for my rental houses for 5+1 years. And, it ends up they just want your premium but don't want to do anything. When my water heater broke, they told me it is not covered because the water leaks from the bottom. WTF, you expect the water will go up when something wrong inside? When my water supply pipe leaked, they refunded me $185 for $850 I spent. When I want to cancel my service, they charge $75 cancellation fee which they never mention earlier. Avoid SHW! Otherwise, I are searching troubles!

I inquired once about their services and from that point forward, I received approximately 2 to 3 calls daily from this company. The calls come at all hours of the day and from multiple phone numbers. I have asked several times to be removed from their call list and clearly that hasn’t happened. I wouldn’t suggest anyone doing business with a company that can’t do something as simple as removing one’s name from a call list and stop harassing people with the unwanted calls. Pathetic.

I worked with Sol to arrange a Home Warranty. He was polite, informative, and was not pushy. He answered all my questions to my satifcation. He allowed me time to review the information with my husband and to rate it against the other companies I was interviewing. I only talked with companies that were rated in the Top 10 and researched the top three. It was a positive experience. I reviewed three other companies and Select gave me the best offer. Thank you for great customer service. Much appreciated repaired my dryer and my AC unit. It was not working and I called in and the service was terrific. Also for reimbursement it’s pretty easy to just email you guys. Only part I didn’t like is that I had 3 AC people come out and didn’t repair it saying they couldn’t do anything and you guys didn’t do anything until I found someone that can repair it and I spent 500 dollars and you guys will only reimburse me 150. That part I thought was kind of messed up.

I used to be a customer before but wasn't able to make the monthly payments so they dropped my account. Now that I have a better job and I just remodeled my home I believe I should get more coverage for my appliances. That's the reason I signed back with this company again. Bruce ** was my customer representative. He was very helpful and professional. He offered me different payment options and he was trying to help save money by telling me to make a one time full payment. Ordering process was easy, be prepared as soon as you enter your information on their website you will receive a phone call. But Kevin was very helpful & I choose a plan that fits our needs. There was a lot of trying to up sell you to lock you in for more than 1 year started with 6 years then down to 2. I'm not going to commit that much money when I haven't even had any experience with their company yet so stuck with the 1 year to see how it goes. I seen other reviews saying it's only a part's plan. That's not what I was told. You pay your service call fee. They come out. If they are able to fix it parts & labor are covered & guaranteed for 90 days but if unable to fix you'll get a new product.

I rarely do reviews, but this company is NOT an HONORABLE warranty company. I made a claim for my AC unit, it had some electrical issues within the unit and blew a fuse. Paid the $60 copay at time of service, followed up with the claim as instructed. They wanted 3 years of maintenance records and pictures of the unit, sent all of it within 48 hours via email. The claim was denied, they stated they do not cover the electrical part of the unit. But they would compensate $150.00 if I could prove I paid the $330.00 bill from the service provider that fixed the AC unit.
I was agitated but sent them the receipt proving I paid the bill that was due upon receipt. They never sent the $150.00, I called and followed up several times but still nothing. I already paid Select Home Warranty in full to cover the appliances in the home and they did nothing for me in return. I just paid them for no reason because I ended up covering everything on my own in full. Buyer be careful because you think you are covered and they will leave you hanging like they did to me.

Abraham was polite and informative; he said he gave me the best rate he was able to give. I discussed with him a coupon I saw online to where I can save an additional $150. The issue I have is the ad is deceiving because it said you can get an additional $150 off (the coupon was save150) which the bottom line was showing $499.00 ($599.00 was crossed); I was told it was off the $599.00 and not the $499.00. It wasn't Abraham's fault; he was doing his job.

Doing a claim with Select Home Warranty was easy. They were quick to get a reliable repairman out to look at the oven. The repairman wasn't here very long before he had found the problem. Select Home Warranty was quick about deciding what they were going to cover and repair. The problem is that the cost cap is lower then the repairs are going to be. Also paying for the repairs and then getting reimbursed wasn't in the contract. If I could pay for it I didn't need the warranty.

We have been frustrated with this warranty provider since the beginning. We have two policies, both for 6 year terms. We have requested service technicians for two items covered under the policies. The first item was for a dryer repair. The technician wasn't able to take payment via a card or over the telephone. After discussing with Select Home, they said we should look for another technician (I understood that to be their task). After requesting them to do their job, another technician was provided. The technician did not respond within the allotted time and we began to "chase the technician". After weeks of no response, we finally purchased a dryer for our tenant.
Select Home Warranty told us that these technicians have their own customers and we would have to be patient. What? I thought we had paid for a first class service, (a "100% customer satisfaction"), but obviously any service provided was whatever was left over from important customers. The second item was for an AC repair. During this effort, we repeatedly called the service technician during working hours to discuss the estimate they promised. At no time have we received any response from the technician concerning the estimated cost for repairs. This has been going on for weeks. Thankfully, the weather has been cool and our tenants are patient, but that also speaks to the availability of this "high quality service provider." (AC repair is not in demand at this time.)
During this fiasco, I called the Select Home office and requested information on the refunding process. The salesman on the other end threatened cancellation fees and additional charges if we were to request the prorated refund. During this call, the salesman seemed to go from condescending to downright maddening. Previously we have contracted this service with their competitor (American Home Shield), and now realize that we made a mistake. AHS and their service technicians communicated with us, were professional and responded in a timely manner. I wish I could say the same for Select Home Warranty, but at this time, we are simply frustrated and feel we have purchased policies that are effectively of no use.

Your prices are better than I have found anywhere else, so at this point I am very pleased with your company. I am hoping to be able to add policies on my rental units as soon as I can afford to do so. It will enable me to rest easier knowing I don't have to worry about unexpected expenses.

I was upset at first because the first two repair services did not contact me within the 24 hr period. I did not want to go through a refund but I had Paul Appliances come out to repair our oven and they called Select Home Warranty when they got here and were approved. They had to order the part and returned in 3 days and repaired the oven and helped me send in the email with the invoices. I am now waiting for the form to sign for my refund. I believe it will all work out because I had three different friends recommend Select Home Warranty to me and they had all at the time used the company and was well satisfied. When I receive our refund I will be more comfortable recommending Select Home Warranty to my family and friends. Thank You.

Sol was the most amazing customer service rep who helped me sign up for my 1st year of coverage with Select Home Warranty. As a new homeowner and a real estate agent, being confident that my home (and my clients' homes) will be covered is essential. Sol made me feel comfortable during our conversation and even walked me through all of the amazing coverage I qualified for. When I mentioned I wasn't comfortable buying the longer coverage, he tried to offer speaking to his manager to make something work for me. Top notch customer service!

My a/c totally stopped working. I contacted Select Home Warranty, and it took a short amount of time for them to approve my claim. Before I knew it, SHW provided me with the name and contact information of a technician who was assigned to fix my problem. The company showed up the same day I contacted them, and the problem was fixed. The technician provided was friendly and explained everything completely. Thank you Select Home Warranty! I am very, very pleased with the service that I received!

I believe that this coverage will come in handy in the future. The wait time to use was 30 days and my price today was locked in. Where do I start? I will say, this company was delightful when I was looking for a new home warranty company. The folks in sales really know how to do their job! Helpful, thorough explanations of coverage that seems absolutely too good to be true - that should have been my first red flag. From that point forward, everything deteriorated. I have made three claims since signing with this company in August and each one has truly achieved a new level of hell. Their online claims submission form has NEVER worked. Not once. So don't even try it. Just call and save yourself the headache.
After that, each claim has taken no less than THREE calls just to schedule a company to come out. Be prepared to have at least one of those companies call to let you know that they don't service your area at all. Awesome. After this, the company will come, assess, and diagnose your issue. Then they leave without fixing anything because at Select Home Warranty, they insist on taking 24 to 48 hours to review and approve. Don't worry, I love taking multiple days off for a simple issue involving the dryer that should have taken no more than an hour to fix. This occurred with each claim I submitted, so it's not just a fluke. This is how they operate.
Customer service - Terrible, most incompetent group of people I have ever had the displeasure of speaking to. They do answer really quickly though, so if your only criteria is spending minimal time on hold, this is definitely your company. At best, you get the ditz who giggles throughout your call and says things like, "I don't know, how do you want to do this?" At worst, you get the jerk who tells you they are the "top of the company" so they refuse to put a supervisor on the phone because "no one will give you an answer different" from what they did. And if that guy is reading this - THEY DID GIVE ME A DIFFERENT ANSWER. Mostly you get an assortment of unhelpful agents who have what I assume is sub-average intellectual functioning. Each time you call, you will get a different answer. When you question the process, they will change their answer.
The retention department is far more helpful. Of course, because they are trying to keep you. Based on my experience during the past two months, they must be extremely busy because why anyone would stay with this company is beyond me. Now keep in mind that I paid for five years of a premium plan up front. I actually had one agent tell me I was a "super VIP premium customer." What the hell is that? That's not a real thing. Also, each agent I spoke to mentioned my VIP status without actually providing me VIP service. Don't fall for it. I'm disappointed I can't rate this company a 0, because that is what they deserve. Switching to Select Home Warranty was a HUGE mistake. Don't do it. There are much better companies to choose from. You can do better.

I submitted a claim for a built in microwave. They offered me $125. They said they depreciate appliances just like cars. I have never heard of a warranty company not paying full price to either replace or repair an appliance. Then, to add insult to injury they charge $75 to cancel your policy. My opinion- ripoff.

I purchased a Select Home Warranty after receiving a recommendation from a friend that recently purchased one. The sales experience was stellar. I wish I could say the same for making a claim. I originally contacted them in September to open a claim and it has been a nightmare since. First, when you submit a claim they are supposed to send you an email when a technician is assigned. Even after checking my junk and spam folders and verifying that the email address they have on file is correct, I have yet to receive one email regarding the claims status when a technician is assigned or my claim has been reviewed.
After the initial claim submission, they assigned an HVAC company to come out for the problem. After several set and unkept appointments, we finally got someone out. The HVAC provider walked in my front door, spent less than 30 seconds looking at the issue and then said that it was a plumbing problem. Don't worry, they still expected their service call fee (which I paid). I don't know much about home repair, but I do know that ductwork connected to your air conditioning system is an HVAC problem, not a plumbing problem, but stupid me...I believed what the technician told me.
I called SHW again and requested that a plumber be sent out. A week later, still no contact from SHW regarding who was assigned. Another 30 minutes on the phone with them, I had the contact information for the plumber. Upon calling the plumber, he stated that it would be at least 2 weeks before he could come out and that he had already alerted the warranty company that they should assign another technician.
Yep, you guessed it, I get to hold for another 30 minutes to explain to them that someone else should be assigned. We finally got someone assigned and imagine how pleased I was when the company neither answered nor returned my calls. In my book, I don't trust a company that will only correspond via text message. We finally got this company scheduled to come out and they were able to rectify the issue. SHW's own technician told us that Select Home Warranty is notorious for not paying claims.
I remitted payment to the technician and provided both a copy of the work order/invoice and a copy of the receipt showing that I paid. I remitted those on 10/5/18. Today is 10/29/18 and I just got off of my 2nd follow up call with this company. Lucky me, today's call was 50 minutes! But don't you worry...as they have said every other time, my claim has been "escalated" and I should expect a response in 24-48 hours (this timeframe is given on every call, email or other contact to customer service). I'm not holding my breath.
After this claim is resolved (I don't actually expect to be reimbursed), I will be cancelling my home warranty. If you are considering dealing with this company, let my cautionary tale dissuade you. They are terrible and I don't believe they have any intention of paying a claim. My assumption is that this company is trying to wear me out and hope that I will stop following up on the claim.

I went online to search for warranty protection and received a phone call from your rep. He explained who he was and asked if I had any questions. I was dubious about doing this by phone and he gave me assurances of security. He offered to stay on the phone while I went online to verify the call was from Select. I was pleased with today's offering. He was very knowledgeable and courteous and I purchase the service.

I have been trying to file a claim for the past 3 months and all the contractors once they find one will not come to my house because of 2 reasons. 1) They do not service the area. 2) They will not work with Select Home Warranty because they do not pay for services. Does not live up to contract. I have needed a plumbing repair for 2 weeks. They have assigned 4 plumbers, all of which said they had not accepted the job because they are not in my area. Being a senior citizen on a limited income, We cannot hire a plumber ourselves. That's why we purchased a homeowner's warranty. I really am at my wit's end. How long do I have to wait?

I was a little put off by the fact that I had an email that said the plan was on sale for 499. The had a 200 off coupon. So I am thinking 299, add pool for 99.00 should be 399, but with what Kevin gave me it was like 539 or more... little confused.

We just ordered a one year Platinum Home Warranty with the extra roof and sump pump protection. We received 2 extra months and a great service call fee. We chose Select Home Warranty due to the great reviews and the best value for the cost. Our representative on the phone was super. I highly recommend even for a new home like ours. We hope we never have to use it but if we do we won’t have to worry about getting something repaired or replaced.

Received call in response to my inquiry and agreed to try the plan until I can consult with my husband. Got information. Will review policy to ensure it meets our needs. The evaluation period will give us time to decide. Was assured that if the plan does not work for me we can cancel and get refund.

Do not purchase from "Select Home Warranty". It is a parts only contract. If something breaks you pay a co-pay, they pay for the part, you pay for the installation. I spent over 85 days dealing with 25 phone calls, 12+ e-mails & my claim is still not settled. Ice Maker broke, they offer $100 to replace, it costs $200 +. I am expected to pay $45 co-pay and $171 labor to replace it.

After Purchasing a Plan from Select Home Warranty last month my refrigerator went out and this was after the 30 waiting period. Took them almost 2 weeks to send someone out and replace a part, 2 days later same problem accrued after calling them for the 9th time. They told me the technician said it's not fixable and it has to get approved for replacement, however the 1st 3 month they can only 150.00. This was 2000.00 fridge and they basically said, "We do not cover it." This company is the biggest scam, you cannot talk to anyone in US and no one knows anything. They keep transferring you and never call you back with updates.
All they want to do is take your monthly payment and hope nothing happens. This was one of the worst experience I had with any type of warranty. Everyone Please be aware of their contract. They will not send it to you till you have a problem. Nothing is covered 100 percent and they do not replace anything within 1st 3 months and there is cap on every single household item. Waste of money and time. I have another claim open for last 5 days and they have not done anything. Just waiting for me to call. This company should be reported to Better Business Bureau immediately. You are dealing with bunch baboons overseas and they will not do anything. Shame shame shame.

The sales agent was very courteous and informative. Adam gave the details of the benefits and offered the multi year option with much discounts and extra months of service. One suggestion is to have a maintenance visit for HVAC unit. Coverage extra an extra refrigerator would also be nice to have with the package. Coverage for Humidifiers and Dehumidifiers as part of the appliances would also be beneficial. May provide more reviews based on future calls when and if required.

Spoke with William who offered me a great deal on a multi year policy. The coverage is comprehensive and offers everything that we needed. Bought this for my mother who lives alone and needs the protection that Select provides. The policy can be transferred to another owner or moved to a different house. I would definitely recommend this policy due to the coverage and great deal you can get while talked to a sales rep over the phone.

After speaking with a representative I was able to obtain the desired coverage at an even greater price. The representative was attentive to my needs and very knowledgeable about what service I was contracting. I had several questions about the additional coverage and I was given specific details and examples of what would be covered and not covered under contract. He also explained the service fee and the time frames in which services would be performed. I am happy with changing coverage and going with new provider.

The service charge is minimal with the contract and the offer was one I could not pass on at this time, especially in a new home. I can't give them a zero Star so 1 will have to do. This company is horrible. They are rude and don't want to cover any of the items on the warranty list. They have these tiny loopholes that gets them out of having to pay for the repairs or replacement. They declined 2 claims this year for me and now I'm without heat. They refused to get me a supervisor and would not give me anything else. Please be aware before you get into bed with these horrible people.

I believe he gave me a good value for the package I purchased. My worry about a major problem in my home is so much better since funds are tight. I haven't had to use the service just yet so I cannot comment on that aspect of my contract. Bruce assured me that any service call would only be charged one time even for multiple calls regarding the same problem which is very reassuring.

My claim on a defective dishwasher component (heating element, not drying) was initiated quickly, had an appointment within a few days. A service tech came out and identified the problem, but then I found out she had to leave to submit paperwork to request the repair be authorized, then wait to hear back on approval. This took another 48 hours. My claim was approved and they will come back next week to replace the broken part. But I don't think it should take two visits to repair a dishwasher - they should enable the technicians to make decisions on the spot (or go out to their vehicle and call for approval), and then repair/replace the broken components immediately, rather than adding the delay to go back to Select and get approval.

Claim number: **. I received a call from the manager Della on 10/24 morning. She just said that according to the contract they only can pay $175 for my claim for my refrigerator. She did not explain why and what the salesperson and the representative told me about the contract when I bought the package and what I called to confirm what the contract wrote in July 2018.
I felt disappointed and really don't understand why I only got $175 for this claim for my refrigerator. When I bought this contract in May 2018, your salesperson Mark ** said that I only need to pay the $45 service call fee for each appliance, then the Select Home Warranty will send the contractor to come to examine and repair the covered Appliances. Select Home Warranty will take care all the repair cost and I have no need to pay anything. OR if they cannot repair it, they will send $500 (after 3 months from the contract date) for us to buy another new appliance.
In July 16 the dryer had some problem, I filed a claim. Then the contractor came to examine and it was not repairable. So Select Home Warranty finally issued $150 for me to buy a new one. Because it was within 3 months from the start date of the contract, I only got $150. At that time, I talked to the representative, she explained to me that because it was the second month from the contract date, I could only get $150. So I asked her if any covered appliance in my house is out of order and after 3 months from the contract date, then I will get $500 for replacement. At that time she said yes according to the contract. In October 9, 2018 my refrigerator had problem so I filed the claim for that. Now I only get $175. They do not send contractor to repair for that. And they ask me to use that $175 to buy a new one. I cannot accept that kind of resolution.
If the salesperson of Select Home Warranty always uses that kind of selling method to ask the customer to buy the contract, that is very very bad. He lied or your company did not honor that?? Della just used another point in the contract to explain because of the depreciated value of the appliance so I just get $175 and I need to take care of the rest by myself- no matter I want to repair it or I buy another new refrigerator! If I do not agree with the resolution, I can ask another contractor to check for the refrigerator and dispute the case but I have to pay for that money. That is bad!
Even from your website, it is written: “Savings. You'll typically pay just one low deductible for covered components that need repair, saving you money.” That is not true. BE CAREFUL before you buy any package from SELECT HOME WARRANTY. It is better not to deal with them anymore! But I still have the contract with them for two years!!

I found the customer service to be quick, responsive and easy to work with. The overall list of services is good, I like that there are options for folks that may want additional coverage. Last but not least, the pricing is a good value for the level of coverage provided. And I really like the opportunity to secure multiple years of coverage so that I am not needing to worry about it every year. Honestly, it is hard to imagine why anybody would not want to work with a company like this.

Representative was professional and helpful and eager to get me the best possible rates and still making sure I was comfortable with the outcome. I would recommend this company to my friends. I saved money and expanded my coverage and the rate doesn’t change for as long as I have the policy which is a major plus along with the amount of coverage and price. The deductible is lower, the price per year was lower than I was presently paying AHS. The coverage was twice the coverage I had with sprinkler sys and roof leak added at no additional cost.

I called for basic information, and was given all the information that I needed plus more, it was no hold time which is good as I called on my 15 min break. The call was fast and the rep emailed me a copy of my plan So that I have the information. The plans is at a really good price and you can add additional services. I haven't used the plan so I can't rate the service providers that they use.

My experience with Nathan was very pleasant. We were communicating back and forth allowing me to discuss the options with my wife, he was very patient. He was very clear in explaining the various options I can choose from. He was very knowledgeable of the service and was able to answer my questions. Nathan said that we can submit a claim 24/7 and that they have a large network of contractors that can respond quickly. The signup was simple. Now we will see how the service is.

Pool repair - The process was very simple and when I needed to add a job to the same claim they allowed this preventing two separate jobs. On the second job there was a question of whether it was covered and the representative was very open and polite to hear my side of why it should be covered. At the end of our discussion they agreed that the work would be covered. Would and have recommended Select Warranty to many of my family and friends.

I was unable to talk on the phone so he gladly communicated via email until I could call. Even after getting us set up, he followed up and answered additional questions. It went beyond my questions and I was given information that I hadn't thought of since this is the first home warranty I have purchased.
