    The representative on the phone was very helpful and accommodating. I received 2 extra months for signing up for the year. He tried to sell me an extra few years on the plan but funds wouldn't allow right now. I plan on signing up for the extended years next year.     New homeowners, do not purchase your home warranty from Select Home Warranty! We bought our house in February, and our AC unit is now not working. We have proof from the previous owner that it was serviced in August 2018 and was working then, and proof from our home inspection reports that it was working when we purchased the house. I filed a claim, and they assigned a contractor, but then I got an email from them saying our problem is not covered, even BEFORE the contractor came out to identify the problem! When I called to complain, they said that was a mistake. Now the contractor has come out, but they are saying we have to have 3 years of maintenance records for things to be covered! How many new homeowners have 3 years of records?? This is a SCAM!

    Microwave would run but not heat. Submitted claim via email. Select responded in 45 minutes which was awesome! Select responded via email and stated repair would be more than microwave is worth. Instead they offered cash settlement. I do agree and understand and I am okay with the cash settlement. I would however preferred to have microwave fixed versus replaced. This was my first time submitting a claim with Select Home Warranty and was impressed with the quick response from customer service!

    The machine was leaking on occasion, the repairman was fair and accurate. They showed in a timely manner. And explained in detail the problem. And the solution I believe the repairs will far exceed what is covered. While your program will save some money it does not actually cover the full repair. I guess I did not think it was going to be as expensive with the deductible and copay as a new washing machine.

    I called on a Thursday because my A/C wasn’t cooling very well and air wasn’t coming out of one register. A technician came out on Friday around 1pm. He diagnosed the problem as my coils had a leak and I was low Freon because of it. As far as the register not blowing air, the duct going to that register had come loose. The technician said he had to send it in to Select to get approval to fix. By Monday morning I had heard nothing from anyone so I called at 830am on Monday. Select said that they had not received the diagnosis from the technician they had sent out. They called the company and they said they were sending over now.

    By lunchtime still no diagnosis from the company Select had sent. Select calls the company again for a diagnosis. I finally get an email hrs later that said my repair was not covered. Not covered? So Select won’t even cover something as simple as coils and the duct being reconnected. Not many more part to home A/C beside motor, compressor, coils Freon and thermostat. Needless to say, the process took 4 days just for them to say, "Sorry, that’s not covered". Good thing I didn’t have a plumbing leak. My house would have been flooded. Needless to say, I cancelled my home warranty with Select Home Warranty that day. I will also not be recommending them to anyone. I will be taking my business to American Home Shield and will recommend them to everyone I know instead. Thanks for nothing Select.

    Today I called a technician to service my air conditioner. He spent his time trying to get the freon into the AC, but the freon was escaping. Further testing showed the coil was leaking and its age would prevent me from getting a new coil. So, I call Select Home Warranty to say my air conditioner needed to be replaced. This was my second call to SHW about my policy coverage (the first being a refrigerator call several months ago). The two representatives I talked to were courteous and explained exactly what I needed to do. They even told me how to attach a photo of the invoice to my email! They gave me the time frame that I could expect to hear from Select Home Warranty. I am pleased with my interactions with SHW today.

    The issue was accomplished. The only problem I had was the 1st lady I talked to. I had to hang up and call back to get another person to assist me. I could not understand her because of her accent. The value is still to be seen. This is the 1st time using the warranty. I will have to wait to see if the repair and your payment goes well.     Submitting an electronic ticket/claim was straightforward and easy. Only had an issue with the "date started". I tried different formats and they were all invalid, and example date in that box would help. I was also asked for model and serial number of my unit, luckily A/C unit is located where I can access it (not on the roof like some) and my stickers on the unit were legible. Everything else was straightforward. I'm now waiting for a service technician to call and see way my air conditioning stop working. Hope it is sooner than later, I live in Arizona and the temperature today is going to be 110 degrees.

    The call center is so frustrating! First put on hold for 18 minutes, then hung up on! Talked to another person and it took 33 minutes to solve a very simple request. It's like pulling teeth to get a claim filed. They always have a reason to NOT cover things that are under warranty. Too much "fine print". Dishwasher door was broken and laying on the floor. "We do not cover the dishwasher door, knobs, handle, buttons or gasket." Really? Ceiling fan quit working. Their answer was "It's over 5 years old, so we'll send you a check for $45 after you buy a new one. We don't fix old ones. The call center is horrible! I would not EVER buy a home warranty with Select Home Warranty again! Not EVER!

    I first submitted a claim through the internet like instructions when I called the toll free number. But my claim was not specific enough to describe the issue. My air conditioning Accumulator Pump is broken. So I called instead and was transferred to the claims department. Claims representative submitted my claim via phone.     Need to read the policy coverage well to understand what is covered vs not covered. For the covered items, my overall experience is good including the receipt of the reimbursement check. For the non-covered items, it is disappointing to find out later it is not covered as I missed the general statements at the end of the document. The wait was very long for the authorization while the technician was on site, and no one answered the phone. I don't understand why this step is required if it is not handled timely as the technician is not going to wait.

    My maintenance provider A#1Air company inspected our air conditioner units Friday - June 14 and stated we needed new air conditioning units. We contacted Select Home Warranty and a specialist came to our home to analyze the A/C systems and determined no new systems are required. The home was built in 2005, with new air conditioner systems. The systems are warranted for 10 years, although we were pleased to know from Select Home Warranty that no new units are required at this time, we realized that eventually we will require new air conditioning units. We will continue to have regular maintenance and hopefully not have to replace A/C units for another few years.

    The Select Home Warranty tech. Donald ** did a very good job and showed me the working parts by removing A/C covers so I could see that the system looked pretty good, some rust but not critical, the insides looked fairly good for a unit that's been operating since 2004. I was pleased with Donald's analysis. The only problem was that the downstairs unit would not switch on after he left the house. My wife and I have been using both units this year, mainly the downstairs unit. I don't know what caused the downstairs unit not to switch on, as it worked good prior to the technician's visit.

    I had the worst experience with this company. I had been a member for 3 months. The got my money. When I needed a repair to my plumbing they said it wasn't covered under warranty because it was an existing repair. This was the pipe in the shower was leaking. It wasn't repaired before. The drywall in front of it was because the shower head leaked and rotted it out. The technician saw that and claimed it was an old repair. Then I had a tech come to fix the timer on my dryer. I wasn't home but he told my son it would be $263.00 and he would return. My son gave him $200 and the guy never came back. Veteran Appliance Repair in Crandall, TX. I called to report it to SHW and again they said it's not their problem. This company wants your money and intends to do nothing to earn it.

    I called about a repair for my saltwater cell for my in ground pool which was previously repaired last year using the Select Home Warranty. When the policy renewed, the representative I was speaking with renewed the policy checking off only Pool rather than Saltwater pool so the claim was denied. When I called to address the issue it was quickly resolved and they changed the add on policy coverage I purchased for my saltwater pool from the regular pool coverage. The company assigned to the repair, however, does not repair these types of systems and now I have to call back and ask Select Home Warranty to provide a service provider approved for these types of repairs.

    Do not contract with this company for a home warranty. What they tell you in the sales pitch and what they send you after they have your money are two different things. The first time I made a claim it was denied because the refrigerator had a leak in a coil. This, which is the integral part of a refrigeration system, isn't covered. You only find this out after you get the contract. Same with the A/C system. Then when you cancel they charge you a $75.00 cancellation fee and prorate your refund, although they have done nothing to help. Oh yes, they offered $150.00 toward the purchase of a new refrigerator/freezer in order to "work" with you and make you satisfied. Also said they paid to have a technician come out. However, I had to pay the $60.00 for this service, not them. My recommendation is to stay away from this company and others like them. You will get screwed!

    Submitted claim on May 19th and problem still not fixed as of June 25th. It took weeks to get a technician assigned. The first technician stated that he didn’t deal with home warranties, so I had to call and get a second one. The second one showed within a day, then after diagnosing problem and rescheduling for a few days later and has not showed up. He has not followed up with scheduled visits and told me that the service is approved by the warranty when the warranty denies it. Technician will not return calls.

    I have called into the warranty company several times to get the issue fixed and absolutely nothing has gotten done. I even spoke with the manager requesting a new technician and was denied my request and the manager hung up on me without getting anything done. It is June in Texas and no one seems to care that it is really hot and I have 3 babies in the home. I am completely dissatisfied with the service and will not be renewing my service with this company.

The first time I tried to use Select Home Warranty was when my refrigerator went out and I was very excited that I have a warranty to call.     This has been the worst experience ever. After paying extra for additional coverage for my septic system they tried to refuse my claim, because my septic tank was not inside my house, then it was denied because it was in the back yard (I assumed they would know it was underground). After being transferred multiple times and being given reason after reason why it wasn't covered I finally was able to convince them that it should be covered. After all this drama they put a cap of $150 on the work. Which does not cover the expense. This is a worthless home warranty. I will be looking for another company that actually backs their warranty.     First I would like to say I have never been so disappointed in something that I have paid a lot of money over the years only to not be there when they are needed the most. I have had Select Home Warranty for a few years now, and if I had known they would not be there when needed, I would have put the $718.80 in a mason jar and placed in a hole in the ground all those years because I would have least known it would be there when I needed it. If I sound disgruntle, I have reason to be. My AC unit went out and I have just been told by Select, that because it was caused by a Freon leak, it will not be covered. This I find ultimately ridiculous, since an AC unit depends on FREON to cool. All I can tell you people is..read the find print of your policy well. Please read my review, and heed the warning, or you too may be forking out $4,000 out of pocket after you have paid money to a warranty company who will not be there when you need it.

    I also filed to have my sprinkler system fixed, and it was also denied, because it didn't cover the sprinkler heads, another system when the biggest problem of the system they say they cover is not covered. They seem to know what to excluded on each system, and that is how they get over in not accepting the claim, I mean if I pay you over $700.00 a year only to cover a $200.00 part, that's a win, not to mention you have to pay a $75.00 service fee when they send a technician and you have to wait, a week as I did, only to be told the claim is denied. The funny part is, if I had of put the money in the ground, times the years I have paid this unreliable company, I would have the money for the repair. Bottom line people, forgot about home warranty companies (this is my 2nd) save your money for the repairs.

    A/C was not cooling due to the power issue from the external fan to the thermostat. Technician came on time and fixed the issue. Technician seems to be okay and he was able to fix the problem. Though he did not replace the complete wire which got damaged but he cut the damaged part and joined the pieces. This was like a temporary fix but it fixed the problem for the time being. It would have been fixed permanently by replacing with the new wire.

    This is a horrible, horrible company to work with. They don’t cover anything so what’s the point of having a Home Warranty. I wouldn’t recommend this company EVER!! They have every excuse in the book of why they won’t cover a problem in the home. They take your money but do NOTHING to help you pay for repairs. Stay far away!!     The warranty is active and have reported an issue. The contract has clauses that deny coverage. One clause is that within 30 days they don't change any part if it need repair. So it means though policy is ACTIVE after 30 days, insurance company won't replace anything next 30 days after policy is active. So it is total 60 days. Customer to wait if they need to do any repair. Also, fan of ac was working but after technician worked on it. Fan stopped working. Now he is asking to replace fan motor. Which is damaged by him. KINDLY AVOID SELECT HOME WARRANTY WHICH CHEAT CUSTOMERS.

    I am having issues with getting the job done in a timely manner. 2 weeks ago the plumber came out to look and call Select Warranty about the issue and today is 2 weeks after and still my pipe has not been repaired. I also had to call and raise some cane about what the people on phone say what they cover and what they don't. I believe that there are too many people that are answering phone and don't have a clue of your company and can't speak English very well.     I had an 15 yr old AC unit that stopped operating after working perfectly for those 15 years. When I had to have the unit replaced, they denied the claim saying that it was either the wiring was not covered or that it was improperly wired. I am so upset that they denied coverage as the AC unit worked perfectly for 15 years and was not wired improperly. They just didn't want to pay for a new unit. I have had two other Home Warranty companies and I have never had a claim rejected. I will be filing a complaint against this company and I'll never do business with them again (I have several Rentals and I have referred them business as a Realtor).

    I’ll start by saying the price and the customer service for this company are good. The problem lies when you put in a claim. On the website (which is where they encourage you to submit claims) there is nothing to mark to differentiate between a normal call and an emergency call. It basically says they will get back to you in 24-48 hrs. For a regular call that’s fine but if I have leaking pipes or an AC that’s out in the middle of summer, I want someone to come the same day. So usually I have to call and tell them it’s an emergency and usually that really doesn’t speed up the process. Also, after putting in a claim online they require me to call with additionally information...slowing the process. I chose Select because they have had good consumer ratings and they were very affordable. My last company was more expensive but they were much more efficient and timely.

    We had a garbage disposal go bad a month after purchasing the plan (so now I can't cancel for a refund, they conveniently make you wait 30 days to use and only have a cancellation within 30 days.) They came back and said due to the age of the product, it is not worth the repair and they will give us $75, and nothing else. That's only after we hire someone to do it, or we repair the item ourself. I was told by the salesman, Bruce that this was not their tactics and that that clause was for expensive things such as furnaces and such, which he then said look at their reviews (which they control). He told me that if there was not enough money to cover something like that that their policy would to to borrow off of other items for the year since everything does not go bad at once.

    Everything in our house breaking is usually due to AGE. What a slimy tactic to get of of being honest. I would recommend putting the cost of your repair into saving monthly and then use it as needed. I remember a time in America when companies tried to do the right thing and not try getting out of their responsibility. These are the types of things they should be explaining to people.
