When I started my services with them I had a decent price, but then the bill kept going up every 3 months. Started checking around. Found out I was paying double for the same server, dropped them and went to a new company that provides the same service for half the cost (literally half). Check around before you use them for pricing, never had a service complaint but just a ripoff.

We have used Republic Services for our commercial waste needs for over 2 years. Recently they have been less than satisfactory in service. They do not put the dumpster back in the proper location resulting in blocked access to our egress, we have missed pick ups and reported them with no resolution, etc. The final nail in the coffin was when I audited the last 18 months of invoices and discovered that our cost has nearly doubled. Yes, a 100% increase in a 1 1/2 years. I called around and found several other options, the most expensive of which was still half of our current price with Republic.
I called and was told that my account manager would call me back with details of my contract. Nothing. I have now called 6 times to get in touch with someone on my contract. I am always promised a call back, but get nothing. This has been escalated each time allegedly to a point where it will be addressed. I called today and advised that if I do not hear back, I will have my lawyer start handling the matter. I was finally told that I was indeed under contract until 11/2021. They went ahead and auto-renewed my agreement for 3 years back in 2018 with no notice and no authorization. I understand how evergreen agreements or auto-renew works, but you still have to notify someone their agreement is up for renewal. Furthermore, I have no copy of this contract as it was never provided to me, clearly it does not lock them into a price or service level, and doesn't have any service / pick-up guarantees.
I given the address of my local office today in the hopes that my physical presence at their facility will be enough to get the ball rolling. I was sort of told on the phone that a dumpster pick up would be scheduled, but I have no idea when or how or if this will cost me. I was also told that they would make the billing retroactive back to when I originally requested to cancel... I cannot believe the level of incompetence and lack of customer service. In addition to the complete gouging they are giving their customers on a regular basis. Every single time I called, the operator told me that I was not the first call of the day to complain about this area, and I would not be the last. Republic, get your poop in a group.

Opened my first bill and was shocked by a hidden price for container delivery of $60 along with Admin fee and Environmental fee. Total bill $129 after deducting the $50 paid at the account setup. Complained about it and Republic told that the recording for account setup is not available and I had to wait if someone can find it. Took follow up after 1 week and they informed this time that the person who setup account is no more working with Republic Services and there is nothing they can do to waive the fees. I was billed $36 again for the month. Now I decided to cancel the services as it was not a fixed price service as committed to me while setup of the account. I called up to cancel service. I received a bill for another full month and also $30 for container pickup again.
I put my cans out to be picked up when told, two weeks later they were still there. Called, was told "Friday". They were finally picked up. Then a month later, after I paid my final $36 for the partial month, I received final BILL for $129.65 with the fee for "waste container removal". I was not warned about this fee, nor was I given the option for dropping off the container myself. That's after months of terrible service including the drivers breaking my cans by slamming them to the ground after tipping them and tearing gouges in my yard with their truck. This company gives no warning about rate increases or other charges that you incur. I would recommend customers to stay away as far away as possible.
Moreover, I complained to Chase bank about the issue and wrong practices run by this company. They asked for the Account Setup email or mail. This raised one more alarm that Republic does not provide any documentation for Account Setup or Service Setup to avoid any complaints to be raised against them with Credit Card companies and refunding the amount for the false commitments.

I have been wanting to LEAVE Republic Services forever. They have evergreen contracts which automatically renew and can go up. They do not provide recycle programs and when you call in they actually do not have the authority to answer any questions. They will have a salesperson call you back and from there they will not let you go unless you pay a huge payout. It is a big scam and should be illegal. A very dishonest company that does not offer competitive rates. People on the phone might as well be robots as they do nothing. Why would you want a customer that wants to leave you?? Because you are greedy and dishonest is the answer!

When I set up my account, I set up auto-pay and apparently limited the total amount allowed to $45. That's been fine for over a year, but apparently they raised the price to $50. In December, my bill of $50.60 did not go through as a result. I did not receive any kind of notification until today, 3 months later. In that time, they charged me a late fee that I was completely unaware of. The email from today specifically indicates the issue from December. They deliberately withheld notification until after the late was applied. While on a singular level, it may seem like not a huge deal. Imagine if they did this to all autopay customers. It's literally a scam to boost revenue. They refuse to refund or credit the late fee. Shame on you Republic Services.

I finally was able to cancel my contract with Republic Waste after they doubled their price 4 months ago. They charged me outrageous final container pickup fees which were not in my contract at all. Their service was spotty, they often forgot to pick up. Cancelling was a lengthy and complicated process - only the sales rep could cancel the contract and it took multiple attempts to get a hold of her. Please be careful before signing up with this company.

According to the City of Haverhill Massachusetts dumpster regulations, no dumpsters in a residential area is allowed to be emptied before 7am. Republic Services is consistently picking up anywhere between 3:30 am (which is most frequent) and 6am. Why on earth would a company believe it is acceptable to pick up a metal dumpster, using hydraulic lifts at that time of day in a residential area? I have video evidence and when I was about to go outside to speak with one of them, another resident in my building was already out there asking them the same questions. It is against the city's code of conduct. I want to sleep, and not be woken up more than three times a week by my building's dumpster being emptied.
Their pickups last over 10 minutes each as well. Even with windows shut, it is waking up the majority of the residents who face the parking lot where the dumpsters are located. This needs to be resolved as it is impeding on mine and other people's quality of life. I want this matter resolved as soon as possible, with pick-ups happening after 7am. I do not want to out my address in a public post, so someone can reach out privately to get the address.

They are by far the worst company I have ever used. They keep raising costs and have Exorbitant fees when you stop service and their reps are not helpful. They exist to rip off the consumer. Don’t use them!!!

Rates regularly increased over years of service, and they kept adding new fees to the cost. When they cancelled service one week due to weather, I was told there is no refund or additional pickup offered, and they would just resume normal service the following week. When I cancelled, I was specifically told there were no additional fees, then received a $90 bill to remove 2 containers. Customer service employees were not only unhelpful, but argued that the company can charge whatever fees they please since they use a 3rd party for receptacle pickup. I asked what option I had to avoid the fees, and was told there is no way to cancel service without the added fees. Do not do business with Republic!

In the three years I have used Republic the yearly rate has gone up over $150. Even though I pay by the year I still get an additional bill during the year for an increase plus a $6 to $7 "service fee" for them to send me another bill that I should not have been sent. I cancelled my service and have been billed $35 to pick up the bin and a $7 "service fee" for send the bill. Most of the customer reps I dealt with were no help.

I will not recommend this company. It's the worst. I can't get in touch with them. Price its way too expensive. They say one price and send you a bill with different amount. Try to call them never respond.

We had been a loyal Republic Services client for over 20 years and finally had enough. I believe in giving people/companies chances to remedy errors but Republic Services is simply not be truthful with their customers. Over a six month period I have emails and recorded phone calls of statements from Republic Services salespeople that are nothing more than false statements. Promises that have never been fulfilled and yearly changes to our pickup dates that result in lost pickup time. Pick up time that we, as a company, paid for. It's a scam! Steer clear of Republic Services.

My mother in law has had Republic fail to pick up her trash 6-weeks in a row. I have called every day after pick up day to ask why. I called for bulk pick up, they scheduled it. Out of the regular garbage bin full of trash, the recycling bin and the scheduled bulk pick up, only the recycling bin full of cardboard boxes was picked up.

For the 4th time this month Republic has missed a trash pick-up. Republic Waste Management reliability is the worst. I would never recommend anyone to have a contract with this terrible company. I would not give them any stars, but was required to select one to be able to post this review.

Republic Services raises its prices without notice to customers! Our service has increased in price over 10 Dollars a month in recent months, and without notice! This is unacceptable practice for a business! Republic services started out Rocky as well, missing payment requests, I'm guessing to try and get a late fee, although the bill had been paid! Local services charge 20 a month and less! Lesson learned!!!! If you decide to take a chance on republic services after reading these reviews, you deserve all the hassle you receive from them! To whom it may concern, republic services can't legally charge you to pick up their own can, it's definitely not in the paperwork I received when starting service!!! This happens when companies think they can't be touched legally, or that all people are poor! Once again just unacceptable practices from a business and will be dealt with accordingly!

I cancelled my service with Republic Last month after realizing that I was being way overcharged for service. They were charging me over $130 every 3 months. I now pay $64 with a different service for the same 3 month time of once a week pick up. At the time that I called to cancel I was told that, since I had been such a good customer for 14 years that they would waive the can pick up fee. Well, guess what? I just received a $43 bill for picking up the can. I called and spoke with a "manager" asking why I got the bill and she said that I was "denied the waiver." Really??? This is how you do business/customer service? I was told that I'd get the waiver and now I'm getting the bill. This is what you get for paying your overpriced bills on time for 14 years. Never again will I do business with this company again and I would never recommend it to anyone.

We have had constant issues with this company. My disabled husband is constantly having to get our can and garbage out of a ditch by our driveway. When we called our local office we were made to feel like the problem was caused by us. The manager literally yelled and cussed at my husband telling him that he was lying. It's just ridiculous at this point. I highly recommend taking your business somewhere else. You will never get good service from them.

Republic has missed several trash pick ups over the past year. Some of the missed dates were due to unexplained delays by the company. Some were due to weather. When asked to leave the trash an additional day it has not been picked up. The cost of service was being raised by close to 20% for the next cycle. We decided to cancel the service. No credit is being given for the missed dates in the last cycle. They said because we did not call to notify them of the missed dates they will not give a refund. We told them there was no point in contacting them about missed service as the trash is never picked up after the notification. The neighbor has had the same issue over the past 18 months. The company will only cancel service at the end of a billing cycle. They are also charging a $30 fee to retrieve their container "as the container pick up is done by a 3rd party". There is no provision for us to drop the container to Republic.

JUST TERRIBLE! I had nothing but problems from the start - not getting the right containers delivered for the most part. I had to call multiple times and wait. The service itself was actually decent after a month or more of runarounds, but their prices kept going up EACH QUARTER which wasn't supposed to happen. When I called to cancel (twice) they never tried to keep me until it was already too late. They also never said anything about me being able to deliver the containers myself. Instead they charged me $130 to come get them ($30 per container, plus a bunch of extra "environmental fees") which was BS!! They say part of those fees goes towards cleaning them but mine originally showed up very dirty so that's crap.
I contacted them a couple of times but they won't do anything for me. This $130 is AFTER I was already paid in full and service was stopped. SWS (Suburban Waste) is who I go with now and they are local, cheaper, they don't have made-up additional fees, they have much better customer service and they don't charge for container delivery or removal.
Republic Services is terrible, including their customer service and BS fees. There's a reason why their containers are no longer on our street except for one house, when it was most houses not long ago. Don't go with them even if they start out a little cheaper than others. SWS also price matches, so DON'T GO WITH REPUBLIC SERVICES. YOU'LL REGRET IT. Why do you have so many 1-Star reviews, Republic? I wonder what your score would be if we could give zero??

I am deeply dissatisfied with the fact that this company does not communicate to their clients their cancellation rules, until their client is expecting a refund but is given a fraction of what they should be entitled. I was charged a FULL MONTH of service for ONE pick up...which if I would have known this, I would have cancelled at the end of February instead of at the beginning! I was also deeply dissatisfied with the fact that I was a client of over 5 years with an excellent payment history, and this is the way the company would sever ties with me. This company does not care about their clients and future potential clients should be entitled to Know This about them.

Updated on 02/20/2020: Well I am still waiting on a response from the Republic Services. So I decided to call them. Customer Service billing has told me that the company has turned it over to collections. I am trying to resolve the billing issue. I had no clue they were going to take my cans and shut down my service. I have talked to several people in customer service and in reinstatement department. Getting no answers on getting this resolved! Went on account and it said I owed 45.09. Now when I went online on my account now it’s shut down. This is unbelievable. 2 weeks now no resolution at all. When you call in to even pay your bill in full in October and then 3 months later using their website putting in my account number paid that balance in full and no notice of them taking my cans or ending service! Still waiting on response....
Original review: Billing is horrible! I had called in and paid my bill this past October in full just over 80 dollars and the customer service said it would be easier to pay online which I did this past January. Bill in full was 79.97. Paid it! Came home. Trash cans are gone! Called them. Asked what happened! They told me after a couple of phone calls with customer service and reinstatement service that due to a 35 charge late fee from last year in June that is why they took cans! So why didn’t it say that when I called in October and then when on went online this past January to pay my bill!? Now they want 163.00 to reinstate service! 50 per can and 50 for environmental fee for gas! I am still wondering why in the world customer service didn’t tell me this back in October when I paid my bill in full and again went online put account number in and it still only showed the normal bill 79.00!?

I am so disappointed with this service. They will take your payment but will not pick up the trash. They will promise to pick it up the next day, and then the day after, but that never happens. I guess they are still in business due to the limited number of trash services that are out there. If you have a choice, don't choose them.

1. Trash is often littered along the alleyway when the trash receptacles are dumped and drivers don't get out to remedy the issue. 2. Often times days of pick-up are changed and often recycling isn't even picked up for 4 or more weeks. Recycling is supposed to be picked up every other week. Many times recycling materials are just slung all over the street when dumped and not cleaned up by the driver. If I had another option to select another company to provide service I would definitely consider it, but Indianapolis has a contract with Republic.

If we could only choose a different company to pick up our trash, we would have done it long time ago but they are contracted by Arlington Utilities and we get billed by Arlington Utilities for garbage. I cannot count how many times they have missed picking up our trash. If you call them, they always have an excuse that either we were not on the ledger, the days have changed, we got dropped off the list, etc. We could not talk to a supervisor or whoever is in charge of this company and this is the only way I could voice my frustration. We have been on this location for almost 12 years and they keep asking if it is a residential property. It had been commercial even before we purchased it. Arlington Utilities set up our garbage pick-up but when I call them I get directed to Republic Services.

A month and a half before we were to move out of our house and list the home for sale, I called to stop the service on a rough date and to ask about the prorate they would accredit for service unused. The rep, Jim, said to call back closer to the date of leaving the home and the prorate gets credited to the account. Since the date was a bit far, I said okay and that I will call closer. One week prior to leaving, I called about confirming the last bulk day the home would have and let the rep know that it would be the final pick-up the residence needed before us leaving and listing the home for sale. The rep confirm the bulk pick up and notated the account about the last bulk pick up and ended the call. Two weeks later (we are at that time moved out of the home) the new bill statement came to our new address and the full balance of $55.37 due in 3 weeks.
I then called to ask what the new bill was about and the rep, Ty, asked if I followed the trash formal cancellation procedure and I said confused if it was calling before we moved out to let you know we don't need the service anymore. Ty then told me a long procedure to that included giving the office my final electric bill and waiting for Las Vegas Business Center to call and confirm my new address in order to get the prorated amount sent to me in the form of a check. I told her shocked that no one has ever mentioned such a formal procedure and I called a month and a half in advance. I told her I have no need for the service, simply take off my address from the pick-up list and there will be no reason to charge me because no one is living there.
She said she is sorry but those are the rules and you have to pay the bill once you received a bill because of what it says on the back. I said confused again, "What do you mean what is on the back?" She guided me to the back of the bill to read under Cancellation & Payment policies where she condescendingly told me to read it out loud to her, if the service is cancelled within a billing cycle, you're responsible for all charges, fees and taxes through the end of that billing cycle. And no proration or refund for the period between termination and the end of current billing cycle.
I'm thinking to myself "what kind of scam is this company running?" I told her of all the discrepancies about that note. That I was misinformed and strung around to give a late notice of needing the termination due by, was told that I was indeed receiving a proration for the remaining of the unused service period, and you're basically saying that your customers have to purchase the trash service, even if no trash is accumulated in any shape or form at that residence and also as long as they have an electric bill. (Note: Having an electric bill while a home is listed for sale means that no one is currently living there to USE the trash pick-up service but electric services are required for the home inspection.)
The rep insisted that any unpaid bill will result on a lien on my home and that I could no longer be able to sell the home, let alone own the home! At the time of this call, I was living in a temporary living solution that followed in a family emergency in Thailand and essentially HAD to pay the current billing cycle to avoid any of those may be true may be false threats of that rep. My power of attorney for the house listed followed the formal cancellation procedure that the condescending rep informed me about. I was in Thailand for the next 3 months and when I arrived back in to the States, I was greeted with a brand new Republic Services bill. Not to mention with late fees.
When I called this time, I informed the rep, George, of the cancellation a few months back and was supposed to get a call confirming my current address to send the check. The rep told me that they do not have any information of my cancellation or a copy of the last electric bill my power of attorney brought into their office. He also informed me that their cancellation policy has changed recently. I let George know how long the residence has been vacant with the house listed for sale and that because I had to leave the country shortly after a billing statement was delivered to my address, that I initially paid it out of fear, to avoid any lien on my house, even though I had no need for the service.
I continued to tell him, it is still not right that a customer has to pay when they informed the company when they are moving out of the home and that not working during the time I had to take care of my family emergency in Thailand, I am not in a position to give away money when it is not reasonably owed. He agreed and apologized that he does not have any information attached to the account to help but he will notate the account with "no services needed", submit the case to the operations and escalation team and that a supervisor will call me back. It is now 2 weeks later and still no follow up call from Republic Services, the operations team, the escalations team, or a supervisor.

I will never recommend this company to anyone. I called customer service at least 20 times trying to solve my issues of a contract negotiation and did not receive a call back. The price started out reasonable but increased 300% within 5 years (price gouge). They are very deceiving and sneaky!!!!

This company is awful. I live in Ann Arbor Township. Two weeks ago they did not collect our trash and recycle bin on our scheduled day. I called their number at about 2:00PM and was told that they could come as late as 6:00PM. But they never showed up. And they did not come the next day, Saturday; and they did not come the following Monday. It was Tuesday before they came but they did not collect all of the trash cans for all of the residents on the street. It was the following Tuesday before they came to collect one neighbor's Recycle bin (a full 11 days after the Friday that they were supposed to come.) The excuse that they gave for not collecting our trash on Friday was "ice on the road," but there certainly was no ice on our road or on the roads leading to our house at 10:00 AM or for the rest of the day.

STAY AWAY from using this service. They are price gouging. They may start out at what appears to be a reasonable rate, but they continue to increase their pricing without notifying the customer. Also they charge a fuel recovery fee that other companies do not. Then when you call to cancel, they will not cancel until the end of the billing cycle (so you may have to pay for a month of service you don't want) AND they make you pay for them to come get their carts back (at $50/cart which is higher than other companies delivery fees - and other companies don't charge to pick them up upon cancellation).
Last time they increased my rate, I gave them the benefit of the doubt when they offered to lower the price back down but then they just started increasing the price again almost immediately. When I called to cancel, they once again offered to lower it back down but I am not going to play that game.... Updated on 02/14/2020: Republic did not respond despite claiming they would. They charge you a ridiculous fee to pick up old trash cans they did not provide. They cannot show me anywhere that. Agreed to this. In another review they asked for my information and then never followed up.
Original review: I started with AA 20 years ago. It was bought our by Republic. I have had the same trash bibs which are really worn out. I am now cancelling service and they are charging me 32.00 a bin to cancel. I asked them. Where I signed that in a contract and they do not have it. Is this legal. It has really soured me on this company.

Cannot get a hold of our rep and when we do email, I never get a resolution. They do not listen to our requests when we ask and totally changed our schedule. They double charged us in December and I cannot get a resolution for it. They are saying they came and emptied a dumpster when there has not been any trash or recycling in the dumpster. We asked in August for them to go back to the schedule we had during the school year but they did not come and we had to call several times to please have them come back

I paid for service for a little over a year before changing residence, the collection crews performing their jobs never caused any headache for me, their billing practices are a different story. Start of service cost me $100 to deliver a pair of previously damaged 90 gallon carts, which while I believe to be excessive, it was at least disclosed before a service agreement. Actual cost to maintain service ran between 30 and 50 percent above my quoted value, the result of fees that were mentioned at service start, but given no expected value. When I no longer required service, I got nailed with another $100 fee, this time for cart removal, which was never disclosed until I called to have service terminated. 15 months of service ended up costing $978.53. What I was expecting to pay was $538.50. Along with a $100 delivery fee that would have made for a cost of 638.50, the total cost of service wound up being 53% above quote. That is inexcusable at best.

I have used Republic Services for over 4 years. And for the first year and a half all was well. Matter of fact, I used to recommend them to my friends. But now, NEVER. Over a year ago, their services drastically changed. Missed pickups and/or messy pickups when they did pick up. I am usually patient and would give them a day or two to come get the garbage since sometimes their trucks were broke down or when I had heard their drivers were striking. I guess I should have figured out then that things were going downhill.
Finally, I just couldn't keep paying for a service that I couldn't rely on.. So I called to cancel... And they were rude! I called to cancel my service the first of December and they told me I couldn't cancel until the end of the month.... So I had to pay for a month that I didn't want their service, then to add insult, they told me that they were going to charge me over $60 dollars to pick up their garbage cans! So, I told them that I would take the cans to the service area that is literally 1.5 miles from my home.. They told me that I couldn't do that and if I did, they would not only charge me the $60 but an additional $150. My whole neighborhood is switching to another company. They are losing customers fast.

I have been a customer for about 20 years. I have been under contract for a while. The last 6 Weeks I have been being charged for overages. To them if the trash is over the front of the dumpster and the lid can't close it is considered overage and how high it is staked is how much you are charged. They define this as extra weight that they have to pay for at the dump that is passed to the customers. The design of the dumpster I am using has an area in the back that we literally have to toss 10# to 30# bags of trash to get it all the way to the back to ensure an even fill. When the trash bags were piled up at the front of the dumpster it was because we did not toss all the way to the back To Republic it was an overage. The weight was no different. It just looked like it. I have asked to speak to my rep and I have left numerous messages but no callback. If Republic is going to charge me for weight I want to see the actual weight not a picture.

3. Nowhere on their website the charge for container removal is posted. It means they can charge any amount.
4. Waives the collection fee to next door neighbor, but did not waive mine. Practices discrimination.

I've used this company for two years. They've been sloppy (left trash around), missed pick ups, etc. But what I'm really upset about is my first bulk trash pick up. It took a great deal of effort to get the item to the front of our house. They never came. When I called, they said they made a mistake and won't pick it up for a week. So I have a sopping wet box springs (it's raining today) out in front of my house and I'll be darn if I'm going to lug it back to the garage. Customer service lady seemed totally unconcerned.

We have a 8 yard commercial dumpster with Republic service in a strip center empty once a week cost $212.27, in other cities only cost $150. In the past few month, we noticed a overage fee $15 was added to the invoice several times, upon calling, the explanation was the lid is not closed or trash on top of the lid. Most of the time, the dumpster is only 60% or 70% full, occasionally when boxes there hold up the trash or other people dump on top of it. We have other dumpster service all over different cities are using other companies and were never being charged this "OVERAGE FEES". I asked the representative: Most of the times when we have less trash, you don't charge less fees. And when they missed a pick up, they would not credit you back, they would dump your trash twice for the next week, if it is over flow, you got charge overage. They never reimburse anything. The customer service is bad, holding long time on the phone and not friendly. Unfortunately Republic service is exclusive in Arlington Texas and cause all of us suffered. I sincerely hope the City of Arlington BAN the exclusive, so we can get better price and service.D

When trash service wasn’t completed on the scheduled day, I asked for a refund since my trash wasn’t completed for the day. I was informed I needed to take my dumpster to the curb again and out again. The trash would be picked up at a later date. I informed the customer service representative that was unacceptable and I would like a refund for services not completed on the schedule date. I was informed a supervisor would be calling. 2.5 weeks later, with multiple calls to Republic Services, I was told a supervisor would not be calling, since I didn’t have proof my garbage wasn’t picked up. It wasn’t till I said I would file a complaint with the BBB that the “customer service” representative said, she would credit my account for the day they didn’t do their job. I have never dealt with such a poor business as Republic Services.

Republic Services in Nexton, Summerville, SC is a fraud. They have been charging me 7 times the amount for waste pick up in my neighborhood then my neighbors. I have spoken to 7 different customer service representatives since August 2019. Each Representative has been very courteous and professional except James. Every time the representative has told me that I would be contacted with a resolution for the overpayments. Republic finally adjusted my future bills to the current rate that the neighbors pay, but they refuse to refund my overpayments nor credit my account. I would give them 0 stars but the computer would not allow that rating.

I dont know whether i can give negative star for these people. I was going out of state and I called customer services to cancel the service. Initially customer representative said - there will not be any fee for container pickup. He also added a comment on my account. After couple of days - invoice was generated for pickup container fee. I called customer care and representative confirmed that - there is comment for ZERO fee and they said they will cancel this invoice. After 15 days - they processed the invoice for pickup container fee. When I called them today they said - it is their policy and management denied ZERO. And they agreed that it is some misunderstanding of their representative. Very very bad service.. I would not recommend this. Instead go for Advanced Service.

I initially filed my review based on the first experience, which was negative. The company immediately responded to try and resolve the initial customer service issues. I would recommend trying to contact the local provider rather than the call center, as the call center had all kinds of things jazzed up. Regardless, I easily forgive mistakes, after all, I know I'm not perfect, but when I make one, I hope that the person that was the recipient of that mistake gives me the opportunity to make it better, so I try to ensure that I allow that same opportunity. Republic Services did follow up and make good on my issue, and if the initial treatment was nearly as good as the follow up treatment they would get a 5-star rating. Thank you for making it right.

On Monday, January 13th I phoned Republic Services to start service. So as not to be called or insulted that I'm a racist I'll start with the fact that the lady who took my call was **. She was very professional and kind. I stayed on for the after survey and gave her a 9 or 10. She told me that they would deliver my containers last week and my service would start today, Jan. 20, 2020. Since they had not yet brought my container I figured when they picked up trash today, they would possibly deliver my containers. I waited for the Garbage to be picked up. They went past my house and no containers.
I had to dig, but eventually found a phone number, called and got through to customer service where I was greeted by a lady named Rhonda, also an **. I gave her my name and address, and she said that I wasn't a customer and had no service. I asked her to hold, went in to my credit card statement and gave her all of the information on the statement, but there was no account number. She said, "Oh, okay, well, you don't have service because there is a back order on containers." I said that it would've been nice if somebody would've told me that, and I asked what I'm supposed to do with my garbage. She said to put it in plastic bags and throw it in your garage, and the tone in her voice was pretty belligerent. I asked how long it would be for containers, and she said she had no idea. I then asked how long I'm supposed to sit with my garbage in my garage and she said, "Until they bring you your containers."
I said, "Well I paid for it in advance, so will that be prorated and will I get refunded. She said, "Wait until you get your containers and then we can talk about proration and refunds." She didn't yell, and wasn't rude, but she was very belligerent and couldn't care less that I have now three weeks of garbage sitting in my garage. I had Republic at my old address and they were always very good, but that's when you could get a hold of the local branch. Now they just want to hide away behind instant messaging and they make it difficult to get a hold of, unless of course, you want to start new service.
I found a back door way of getting my local number, called them, well within hours of operation, but they don't answer the phone. I do like their containers and the ease of their containers, and for that reason I will wait until tomorrow for someone to contact me. If not, I will post this EVERYWHERE on the internet, because customers should not be treated like this, and big companies are finding more and more loopholes to not immediately addressing customer issues.

I signed up for Republic Services because they are the only trash company that services my area. When I signed up 4 years ago, they asked me if I had the same trash can as the previous owner and I said yes (more on this later). They set me up with auto-pay and I haven't looked back. Like any other bill on autopay, I just let them take my money since if I don't pay, they don't provide the service, right? It's like any other subscription service - put your billing info in, set and forget, enjoy the services.
Fast forward to today. I am in the process of moving to a different state so I'm calling all the utility companies to submit a request to stop services. When I was on the phone with Republic, I logged into my account and looked at a bill that was a few dollars higher than the previous bills. Once I had the bill open, it had two line items, both for a 90GAL trash can. I walked outside and took a look at my trashcan and saw that it wasn't a 90GAL, but it was a 64GAL.
When I spoke with the rep 4 years ago, she had asked if I had the same trashcan as the previous owner - that means they either 1. knew that I had a 64GAL and changed it (maybe by accident) to a 90GAL OR 2. have been also charging the previous owner for a 90GAL even though they only had a 64GAL and then proceeded to charge me for a 90GAL. I realize now that I should've checked the size of the trash can when I first moved in. However, I blindly trusted RS when they asked me if I had the same trash can. The price difference between the 90GAL and 64GAL is just under $10.
I brought this point up to the rep I was talking to and he told me that he would try to remedy the situation. He put me on hold for a bit and when he came back he told me that he was only authorized to refund me the last billing cycle. I asked to speak to a manager and the manager told me the same thing. They offered me $11 and some change. They have overcharged me nearly $200 over the last 4 years and they only offered me the last billing cycle stating "you should've looked at your bill". I should've looked at my bill? Why should I look at my bill? I either pay you or I don't get services. I set up autopay so I don't have to look at my bill. I don't have time to look at my bill. You should've set up my account properly the first time!
I know we are talking a few hundred dollars over the course of 4 years, but it's the principle of the matter. IF I had a 90GAL trashcan and they were charging me for a 64GAL trashcan and 4 years later realized that they were undercharging me - they would go after their money. Double standards if you ask me. As far as my experience over the last 4 years (prior to today) - Service was decent 4/5 stars. Drivers would consistently drop trash on the streets when they would pick up bins and just drive away letting the trash blow around the neighborhood. Otherwise, no complaints. Today's experience: 1/5 stars.

If you are forced to use this company, I am sorry. They are absolutely horrid. Customer service makes false promises. Trash is RARELY picked up on time. And then they want payment for service they often fail to provide. So glad I switched. My normal pickup days were Friday. Often, they would not come until Monday (at the earliest, usually later). When my invoice period was close to being over (about 2 weeks prior), I cancelled. They said they would pick up the cans on the next scheduled trash collection day (lol). They sat on the driveway for 2 more weeks.
So then they proceed to charge for another invoice period (since they were late collecting the cans I no longer used). Now they are sending a debt collection agency to collect the charge for the period I did not use them and a $69 dollar "can collection fee!" Too bad they don't collect SS numbers or I may be inclined to pay the debt. To summarize NEVER use them to collect trash. They won't pick it up anyways.

We have trash service with Republic because it is through our town & included on our water bill. We have several residences in the town and one outside of it. They have missed the property outside of town multiple times, at least 5 times that I have called the company about. There have been a few times that I didn’t call about being missed.
Anyway, this Monday was no different.... our road got skipped. There are only 3 homes on the road so I guess it’s not worth their time. I called and they would be out Wednesday. Wednesday came and nothing so I called at about 430. I was told it got rescheduled to Thursday. Well, I’m not surprised, again nothing. My trash still sits at the end of my driveway. I was told previously that I could set out a couple bags when they declined to make a trip out. My problem with that is the coyotes and dogs tear into it and I get to clean it up, no thanks. We are about to drop their service and cut the cost from our water bill. When we do this, I will pull my other properties from the service to and do a dumpster for all the homes.

When we lost our service with Waste Management earlier this year, Republic Services was the only option for our area. We live rurally in KS, so options are few. I had no idea what an awful company Republic Services was, or I would never have begun business with them. Without going into tons of detail, here are a few of my experiences:
- Asked if the company would consider every other week pick-up. Nope. "That's not a service we offer in your area." (We recycle and don't have much waste.)
- Two missed pick-ups in a matter of 4 weeks... but since I didn't call the DAY OF the missed pick up, it's my fault. They took no responsibility.
- Charged me $30 fee to pick up my container when they were going to cancel my service after less than 3 months of service, but since I just happened to call by chance to cancel, I got stuck with the fee, though the rep assured me I wouldn't.
- Constant misdirection and lies from reps who say that they will make a note on my account. I call back later... No one even sees that I have called previously. No notes on the account.
- We heat our home with wood pellets, which come in plastic bags (not recyclable here locally.). The driver strung SIX of these bags from our house to approx 1/2 mile down the road.
- Overall, each time I called, it was clearly about the COMPANY not the customer. I am generally quite polite and I feel like I try to understand business practices.
THIS. COMPANY. IS. AWFUL. If you have other options for trash service- don't use them.

On January 6, 2020 my garbage can was removed from our property because they lost the contract in our county to another company. On January 3 I mailed a payment in to pay the bill due January 13. Despite the no trespassing signs in our yard and a hose to pump out water from our yard they sent a third party person to come collect the container. They ran over the hoses and punctured several holes in it. I called the company to find out why my container was missing. Republic Services told me they lost my county's contract to another company. I also explained to them that I had just sent my payment in by way of money order. The lady told me they would close my account out and I would receive my reimbursement within 4-7 business days after the money order was received. She was also going to place a claim for the hose. If the hoses don't keep running we get tons of water in our yard.
So the end of last week I called after hearing nothing from them on any of these problems. I finally got ahold of someone on Monday the 13th saying that my payment was received and that my check would be sent out in 4 business days again and that they were working on the hose problem. Since this problem was not taken care of we had to go spend 90.00 to buy pipes to get rid of the water from the rains we kept getting that was near our front porch steps. I called republic again today 1/15/2020 and was told now that my payment would be processed on the 24th of this month when they do their billing and then 2 weeks after that the check would be sent out. I am furious. We tried to call different people and they are just pushing me around to different people and change the story to me. We are on social security and just don't have money to throw away.
I have spent 130.00 this month when I didn't need to. I have no service with them and a busted hose that I needed to spend 90 on pipes to pump out water. This is the worse company ever. I cannot believe you need to hold my money until after the beginning of next month for me to get it when I have no service and a lot of grief from you. I tried to call their headquarters in Phoenix Arizona and was told by the woman there who handles problems that it was too bad she couldn't do anything about it. I told her this is my grocery money I am out of that I shouldn't have had to spend and now I have to wait 'til after the beginning of next month. Every person tells you a different story about what to do. If I don't get money soon or hear from someone who will do something I am going to call the Public Utilities Commission and the attorney general's office. This is no way to do business.

Republic Services has the worst customer service. It’s basically criminal. I have tried working with the company on overpayments that they received and misapplied. I have contacted the company more than 5 times over the past six weeks regarding payments that needed to be corrected. I have called about overpayments totaling more than $1,000 during 2018-2019 and asked research and a refund be given.
I contact the company. Am told they created a case number and they will research and get back to me within 24-48 hours. No one ever calls or emails to follow up on the case number and I have to contact the company again. All they offer to do is open up a new case number and say the same thing that it has to be researched and they will get back to me. I now have 5 case numbers from the follow up calls placed on 12/6/19, 12/13/19, 12/16/19, 12/17/19, 12/27/19, 1/8/20, 1/13/20.
Each time I contact them they say no one has worked on any of the previous case numbers and there is no notes so therefore no resolution ever happens. On the call 12/13/19 I called and spoke to a supervisor Chris who assured be that they credited my account and it was all set and sent me an email for confirmation. When I tried reconfirming that a few days later I was told they were still looking into it. I have attempted to resolve this on multiple occasions but the company refuses to provide any accurate information to match up and provide the refund.
They never actually do anything with responding to the request. Also, you can never speak to the same rep/ supervisor more than once and no one has any accurate information directly to match up the payments they received and what was actually applied and the net overpayment. It definitely seems like a tactic to not provide any resolution because they have no true process and accountability to provide a true resolution.

Keep in mind the representative to your place will tell you, "You can cancel anytime." But they will ask you to pay for the contract fee. If you still have 3 month left for the contract then you will need to pay. And each year fee are keep up. This company is bad. Not honest. Especially to the people don't speak English well.

I spoke with a customer service representative in October because my bill had increased (again!). I told them I was going to cancel my service because I could get the same service plus recycling for half the price. I was told they would match the price, I had already payed my bill so I asked if I would receive a refund and I was told no but my next bill would be credited so my bill would be very low for the following 3 months. I received my bill and they did adjust the price for the next cycle but did not credit me for the previous.
I called customer service and was told I wouldn't receive a credit for the previous 3 months because there was no notation saying it started in October. I was mislead or lied to by the person I talked to who made it seem like the new rate started in October. I understand $50 isn't a lot for a huge company like Republic but it is for some people. Needless to say, I cancelled my service and I am moving to a different company. Don't use Republic, I'm sure there is another company near you for half the price.

I had some bags next to my garbage can that we’re not picked up when the garbage man came. I got a ticket from my village for the garbage bags. I called Republic Services about this and was told that someone will pick them up the following day by a Candice. It has been 2 days since this conversation and the garbage bags are still not picked up. I called back today and spoke to a Kayla and was told that she had to have someone call me back. I told her that I refused to have someone call me back and needed to speak to someone. She stated there was nobody to speak to. Not a supervisor or anyone else and the only way was to get a call back. Now I have another ticket from the village, my garbage not picked up, and the problem not resolved. Terrible service and horrible customer service!

Had this service for 2 months. In that time they've managed to miss three pickups, including a missed pickup, pickup. Took weeks before we received a recycling container but were charged for the service anyway. I work from home and saw a hot head driver operating equipment recklessly, no wonder everyone's cans are beat up. Cussed someone out in public over their phone, got mad because the neighbors' recycling cans were blocking a garbage can and actually had to get out to dump their trash. How is this company in business. 4 calls in 6 weeks? Never had to make a call to any waste company in my life up to now. Worthless personified.

Worst overpriced trash company ever!!!’ I was with the company when it was called Allied Waste and had no issues. Now I pay the same price over 100.00 to have my trash picked up once a week and they’ve missed that multiple times. I called customer service today to cancel and they won’t stop my service until the end of the month, won’t lower the price unless I agree to keep their service and still will only pick up once a week. They say they’ll do anything to keep you as a customer but customer service is so incompetent she asked me how many of their containers I have. The answer is none, they never gave us any Allied waste required that you use your own. This is all on top of being charged for a recycling bin we never had! How do you not know who has containers??
Now I’m stuck with them until the end of the month. So much for doing everything you can to keep your customers. Oh and when you file a missed pick up online no one ever gets back to you, apparently you have to call if you want a credit even though the website doesn’t specify that! I found a new company for a third of the price that picks up twice a week, I can’t wait for February!!!’

Absolutely horrible, their billing department, accounting, and customer service departments are all horrendous. They create phantom invoices, over bill and then refer you to 3rd party collections because of their inability to fix their own errors. Find another alternative if possible.

This company here in the Hudson area use to be seaside and they were great at the trash pickup and the customer service. I have asked repeatedly as to when we would get the new containers no answer, my bill jumped from 38$ every three months to 52$ with no warning!!! Now let's get down to the cans, now if you're anything like me you get the hefty cans to make life easier for all who has to come into contact with them, mind you they are 70$ a piece!!!! My cans are destroyed, handles broken and the cans are left on the road or right infront of the mail box so that my mail isn't delivered, who the hell is going to replace 70$ cans and get these guys to stop breaking them, leaving them on the road or in front of the mailboxes!!!!
I never had a problem until I moved last year, this is absurd and trying to get help with all this is a joke seriously looking for another trash company, this is ridiculous having to replace 70$ cans twice a year just completely over it!!! This company really needs to straighten up from what I'm seeing and hearing everyone everywhere is having problems!!!!

My name is Mr. Randall. Recard the first bad experience I had with this company is that they charge me for 2 or 3 weeks of service without having a container because they said they ran out but yet they still charged me. Go figure the second complaint is. Last week is scheduled to pick up for bulk items. Without the day came and they drove by and waved at me instead of stopping and picking up my items. This week I called and made an appointment for pickup. They schedule it for the second. Well they never picked it up. I called in and they said, "Well we changed it to the eighth," without calling me and notifying me of what they did.
NNow keep in mind I will been a community that charges you for every day that trash is left out. Now when I call them today they explain to me that they changed it without notifying me because the person who took my original information was probably off from work and didn't call me back so now they want it was scheduled for the second and they want me to wait till the 8th to get it picked up. So for 6 days my trash bulk items will be sitting out in the weather in front of my house with all my neighbors walking by pointing saying what a slob I am because they don't have the decency to stand by what they say they're going to do or enough smarts to hire at television people to be able to realize when they can come and when they can't come. I'm a disabled vet. I have to pay people to take stuff out of my house. This is the most most most worst worst worst company I've ever seen in my life.

They have raised the bill more than the wage increase in the US, consistently. My neighbor and I were sold out to this company. Amazing we have the same service (dumpster & size) and different billing amounts. I've had property damage from their trucks but that is disregarded. They know they have you over a barrel because of the contract they make you sign. Everyone wants you to sign a contract for trash service. Their contracts allow for them to raise rates as they deem necessary but if you get tired of having your account drained and cancel it will cost you.
If you participate in autopay you're supposed to save money and avoid paying their 6 dollar processing fee each month. (Highway robbery.) On autopay my bank encouraged me to fill in a cap so they couldn't pay themselves at will with the consistent increases. Upon seeing that filled in a rep questioned me about why I wanted to do that and how I should trust them. Thankfully it was on there for the last 15.00 increase that came. Whether you pay or renegotiate the rate they will have back where they want it when they do their increases every 10 months. When you're tired of the one sided abuse and want out they remind you they will charge you that new monthly fee to get out of your contract plus a dumpster removal fee. If you renegotiate your contract they extend you another 3 years and still raise rates every 10 months. They are terrible and take advantage of who they can. Contracts are for their benefit. This should be illegal. Feels like extortion.

The bulk pick up in my area as stated from the mailed calendar is Dec 31. On December 30, have called Republic Services to let them know I have bulk items that need to be picked up. Again, on the scheduled day (December 31) I called again around 3:30PM and that day the trash was not picked up. Jan 1 is holiday. Their office is closed. Jan. 2, I have called again for a missed pick up I was told that I was not clear when I called them about the pick up. This should be a very simple conversation. Until this evening of Jan 2 the trash is still sitting at the curve. Tomorrow, I have to call them again. This just shows how poorly they serve a paying customer like me.

We signed up with this company on the advice of the people we bought our house from. While pick-up service was fine they raised their rates constantly, it has doubled in a years time. I called each quarter and they never once worked with me. Their customer service people were always condescending. This last raise was too much so I signed up for a new service and called to cancel. It was the beginning of a new quarter, I had not yet paid for the new quarter and they had not yet done a pick up in the new quarter but the "customer service" person, Jessica, told me they would still charge me for the first month since it was past the end of the previous quarter AND that they were doing a me a favor by doing so. This is the worst company I have ever done business with. I would never recommend them. Find another alternative.

I swear trying to get an extra recycling container is like going through hoops I been trying to get one since last month and been having to call them over and over again. I tried to talk to a supervisor was denied by a salesperson who said I couldn't because there no point if they don't deliver one on the 7th I'm done and will call them to cancel the recycling this is so stupid. She kept talking over me and not wanting to listen. So disrespectable.

The company kept raising fees and adding surcharges. The recycling was hardly ever picked up when scheduled. I canceled service and now they are trying to charge me $89 to pick up the 2 containers. Not made aware of termination fees, had no contract so there was no early termination.

I have never been disrespected by a company for 12 days in a row. I signed up and paid for service on December 20th and not once has my trash been picked up. I have called in 7 times and still being lied to about having my trash dumped. My neighbors and I are pissed as I have so much garbage out that my cans are overfilled and the Raccoons and possums have been tearing through bags and spreading trash in the neighbor's yard. My neighbors are even considering changing to a different service because how I am being treated and it's affecting them. I have been waiting for a call back. For 10 days not once have I have a call back.

Our trash and recycling cost went up again on this last bill. When we called customer service they indicated that they would drop our bill to the previous invoice rate. That was a $10 drop. We went shopping and found somebody that could deliver the same services for $30 less per quarter. As a result I called Republic services to cancel Our service. Two things happened. They wanted to charge me for an entire months service for a single pick up. Nope. And then they wanted to charge me $30 to come pick up their own trash cans or I could drop it off in some remote area. Nope. All in all it was going to cost me $120 to cancel their services. Nope. I never actually had any difficulty with their trash and recycling pick up. They came when they said they were going to come. But their pricing and these hidden charges And numerous increases in payment for service over the last several years just is way over the top. Nope.

My regular recycling delivery is Wednesday. I received an email noting that because Christmas falls on a Wednesday, my recycling would be picked up on Thursday. On Thursday evening I called to report that my recycling was not picked up. Customer Service said that it would be picked up on Saturday, and said that my regular trash, which is normally picked up on Friday, would also be picked up on Saturday. I put my regular bin out Thursday night anyway, as the difference between Republic’s emails/website schedule info was not the same as what Customer Service told me on the phone. Recycling was picked up Saturday, but regular trash was not picked up Friday or Saturday. Called Monday morning, they said they would send someone tomorrow (Tuesday) to pick up the trash.
Second time in less than one month Republic has missed pick up, and it has taken multiple phone calls to get them to collect the missed trash. Wondering whether anyone will show up tomorrow, or I’ll have to call again. While Customer Service is polite, Republic fails to provide reliable waste removal service, leaving me to make multiple phone calls to get them to come back and do the job they are supposed to be doing. Customer Service gets three stars, actual waste removal, one star.

I was with Republic Services for many years, I canceled my service due to the fact that my bill was increasing almost every 3 months. I was able to go with another company and save 120.00 yearly and they pick up bulk items for free. When I started with this company years ago there was NO CONTRACT signed. Now they want me to pay 82.60 because they picked up THEIR containers. This seems very underhanded and I feel they are trying to squeeze every penny they can from me. Now they are threatening to send me to collections! This is not the first time I had problems with billing. I have tried dealing with customer service to resolve this and everyone I spoke with was rude and did not seem to care one bit. Also, beware if they miss a pickup due to weather or other issues. They still charge you for trash pickup.

I would have to say that since our pickup company changed to Republic, I have never seen such an unprofessional company in my life, and the opinion is not just my own as most of my community feels the same way. Runaway trash left in the road, cans carelessly thrown wherever or left in the road, I cant use my lids anymore as they threw mine away and when I called TWICE about the issue I was told that property damage would have to call back but didnt, I truly wish I had a choice in the company we use as it isn't our choice, but know that if I did have the choice I would dump republic in a heartbeat.

I never thought that on Christmas Eve that I would be angry enough to take time to make a post such as this complaint. On December 23rd, I noticed that our 1st quarter 2020 Republic Services invoice was for the amount of $249.83. Yes that's right, nearly $1,000. annually for trash pickup! Republic Services bought our former trash pickup company Able Services several years ago. They have raised our trash pickup fees over the years and we have simply paid the bill each quarter. With a $35.00 increase over the last quarter, we called neighbors ( some with Republic and some with other trash pickup companies ). We were shocked and embarrassed to discover that our neighbors were paying from $200. to $299. annually for trash pickup!! This has been going on for years! We have probably paid thousands more for trash services than people living on the same road!
This morning I was directed to a "supervisor Chris". His only unapologetic response was that "it is the customer's responsibility to call each year and negotiate their trash pickup rate". I have never heard of such business practices! We have paid our bills on time and have been loyal customers for 25 years and this is how they reward loyalty! I was told by a different Republic Rep yesterday that they charge loyal customers such as us more so that they can offer deals to new customers. Needless to say I quit Republic Services today. I was told that they would charge me $37.00 "plus fees" to pick up my bin! We have never seen or signed a contract with Republic Services. When I told the supervisor that Republic should be giving me a refund and I would not pay the bill for the bin pickup, he said that I would be turned over for collection. Oh by the way, I saved $800. annually by switching trash pickup companies.

Republic Services missed a pick-up on 12/20/2019. Although I called midday on the 12/20, I was told my trash would be picked up the following Monday. The only thing Customer Service can do is send a note to Operations. Operations has not responded once. In fact, I'm not even sure such a division exists. I suspect it may be part of Customer's Service "script" to give the false impression there is an entity who might respond to your concerns.
I have spoken to 6 people since 12/20 and my garbage is still sitting out front at 2 pm on 12/24. Republic's phones have been out of service all day today. There is no service tomorrow, and everything is on a one day delay due to the holiday. I am moving, so I really need the use of my cart. Republic does not care, perhaps less so because they see I am discontinuing service in 2020. I discontinued service with them before. Unfortunately, they purchased Curbside Disposal. Republic is garbage who often leaves you with yours, even when you've pre-paid. I suggest using anyone but Republic.

Several years ago we had a substantial increase, when I called customer service they explained it was due to high fuel prices. I was sort of ok with that. But it seems that there is an increase every few billing cycles. After fuel prices came back down there wasn't an adjustment the other way in my favor. Seems they use whatever excuse suits them at the time to justify their actions. When I initially signed on with Republic for my trash pickup it was 33.00 every billing cycle (3 months), now it likes a few pennies being 72.00. January just a few days away. I'm sure that there will be another increase.

I’ve been a Republic Services customer for almost ten years. When we first started service it was ten dollars a month. NO CONTRACT, which means I didn’t sign anything with them. Due to the subdivision consolidation to one company I had to cancel with a Republic, I canceled on 11/29 and already prepaid for the month of December. They sent me the last bill with a charge of $30 for container removal and $32.67 for recycling container removal! When I called customer service they said “all our customers are advised of this fee when signing up”. I said I was NEVER advised of this otherwise who in this world would??? When I asked about the credit to my account for my prepayment their answer is “we don’t know when it will post to your account.” I told them they are very prompt to charge for money but they are not prompt at all to issue refunds. This is unethical and unlawful practice, I will keep making my word out so it doesn’t happen to loyal customers like me.

I am a new customer to Republic....held hostage to this company because of where I moved. Despite paying for services I have yet to have this company pick up anything despite the containers that have remained at curbside for the last 16 days. I have called 4 times, left messages each time and had one return call and she said she would call me back and never did. I am unpacking a house and have bags of trash and recycling stuffed in my garage because there is nowhere to go with it. Appalling...absolutely appalling....the worst EVER and I have been in 6 different houses in different locations. Someone there needs to get their act together and St. Louis County....I had better service in Jefferson County. How dare guy hold us hostage to this company!

Republic Services is a price-gouging company. They sign you up by giving you a reasonable cost then add twice that in "fees" when you actually receive the bill. I am being charged $30 each to remove the waste and recycling containers from my property after closing out my account, plus an administrative fee and fuel/environmental recovery fee. The Fuel/Environmental Recovery Fee for removal of one container was $11.84. In total, Republic Services is charging me $47.79 to simply pick up one recycling container.
I closed my account, and even though I was a customer for over two years; albeit due to a lack of other options. In addition, the Fuel/Environmental Recovery Fee is different on every bill with no explanation of how it was calculated. And, their containers are cheap quality and tear up often. I will never use Republic Services again and would not recommend them to anyone. If you have any other option, you will be better off. I am now putting my trash in the backseat of my car and carrying it to a waste/recycling facility for myself!

We have been with Republic less than a month, and already having major issues. Very likely we will be taking our business elsewhere. Terrible customer service after unauthorized removal of garbage dumpster, which caused major inconvenience as we had just moved into our new house and had a lot of refuse to dispose of. Supervisor refused to compensate us in any way, stating that they were not technically in error by removing the dumpster because it "did not interfere with services rendered" -- the whole point of having the dumpster permanently on the property is so that we can dispose of our garbage daily, not hold onto it for a week because there is no place to put it. Taking the dumpster did interfere with services rendered, because the agreement was to have a permanent dumpster, not one that can be taken away with no notice.
By her logic their guy could take the dumpster with him at pickup and not return it until the next pickup, as long as he is there on pickup days. This makes absolutely zero sense. She was extremely dismissive and demeaning, basically telling us to just deal with it. When I informed her I would be going over her head, she quickly interrupted me with "I have already informed corporate not to override my decision." I have never had a business employee act so controlling towards a customer.
When we first contacted customer service they said there was no reason for the removal, then I was given two different dates of return, and then the debacle with the supervisor. All on top of the fact that we had nowhere to put our great deal of garbage, having to resort to leaving it outside, after which we had a terrible windstorm and the garbage was blown everywhere causing even further problems. The company has caused this new customer a great deal of frustration. And their business practice is extremely unethical.

I usually don't have any issues with Republic Services to pick up my trash. But today was a very disappointing experience. We put our trash out the night before like always at the end of our driveway. When the trash truck came there was a car parked right in front of our cans. There was also another car parked on street at my neighbor's house across the street so the trash truck could not get through. When I noticed the trash truck backing up without picking up my trash, I called the company to see if they could come back to pick up trash when the cars had left. The representative said they would not come back as there was a blockage and they could not come back.
I said that the cars were not mine and if they were I would have moved them, but I cannot control where people park on a public street. If I had noticed in time I would have moved the cans, but I did not notice the car parked in front of my cans until it was too late. The representative said that I need to put my cans where they can't be blocked. I told her they were not blocked when we put out cans last night and they were not blocked when my husband took my kids to school in morning. Only when the trash truck came had they been blocked by someone I did not know. We have put our cans in the same spot for 13 years and no issue. This one time beyond our control and the trash company refuses to come back and get my trash. I am very disappointed in this company and will look for another company (which there are quite a few in my neighborhood) for my trash collection.

Stay as far away from this company as possible if you are a business looking for trash service. The account started out ok, but a year into service things took a turn for the worse. They were constantly missing pickups, and when we called for a pickup we would be charged additionally for the missed pickup. This wasn’t just a once or twice thing, but happened at least 1 a month. The fees went from $200 to over $500 before the contract was up. They were suppose to send a notice about the automatic renewal clause, but we never received. Just to be safe I submitted a certified letter with my intent to cancel the surface. I also notated the final check, and reminded them to come pick up their dumpster. They are still refusing to close our account, and have sent a bill for $2600 to close the account. Don’t make the same mistake, find a company that cares about customer service.

I went with Republic initially as that's what the prior owner had used. It wasn't bad at first, but they quickly jacked up the rates. In fact, every single quarter was more expensive than the last! See below for a history of the increase where over a year the cost more than doubled.

Insanity. When I contacted customer service, they told me since I was in a competitive area prices were subject to change. Of course, when I called to cancel they finally mentioned I should have been offered better rates. Too late. Beyond this, in the last few months there was construction happening on our street. Several times there was no trash pickup as a result, and when reaching out they blamed construction. Ok, great, but I'm still paying for collection and trash is piling up while they don't pick it up. I have now switched to Whitetail for $69 a quarter. Republic is over a week late collecting their bins which are chilling at the top of my driveway. Funny though, their website says they've been picked up. Another fail.

This company lies from your very first communication. There are transportation fees, late fees, delivery fees, pickup fees, administrations fees and more charges added to your bill with no warning or explanation, and questioning "customer service" just gets you more lies.

I was told that a particular fee would be waived at the time I signed up for service and I received a bill with the charge on it. Now Republic is saying they will charge an additional fee for not paying it. The customer service agent should not volunteer that a fee will be waived and then not follow through. I would like this taken care of or at least have the agent call and explain why she can't do as she said she would. She does not return my calls. The pickup service has been great - no problems there.

So this is how Republic Services treats their customers. They got sick of me complaining about how they skip our road and refuse to service us if there’s any snow or ice on the road. At least last year they would try again later in the week if the road was clear. Now this year if it’s snowy on Tuesday... won’t come again until next Tuesday. Called corporate and they won’t give a bill credit for missed weeks because they say our local dispatch should be servicing us. So came home today and trash was dumped on the ground and blue republic can gone. Wheels ripped off my personally owned can. Checked my account status online because customer service closed now and it says “you no longer have an account with republic service.” Republic has a monopoly on our area. They just bought out the one and only other provider that serviced our area. So now that they are not servicing us anymore. We have no trash service providers.

I liked the service until the first missed pickup. I called and scheduled another pickup. Didn't happen. Then there was the second missed pickup. I called and rescheduled, and then called again to confirm. Never happened. I decided this is not my company and switched. Of course, I have to schedule the containers to be picked up. First schedule never happened. I called and rescheduled. Never happened. I decided to "chat" so I will have a record. I scheduled the third time, fourth time, no one picked them up. Today I scheduled a fifth time and will leave the two containers outside for two weeks in a row. We will see what happened.I never encountered a company like this, NEVER.

Updated on 01/20/2020: Someone got back to us but disappear since the holiday. We switched the trash pick up to Sunday. But still no service for Saturday and Sunday. I never heard back from anyone. I spoke to a lot of people and they having the same issues that we did. They said don't expect the credit.

Operations has consistently missed trash pickup on one side of the street. They have also consistently cancelled, without notification, the rescheduled pickup. Customer service operators are cordial but not much they are able to do.

Republic Services was supposed to remove an old loveseat from in front of my home a week ago-it is still sitting there. The first time I called they said they had no record for a pickup being scheduled. They promised to get the item Monday of the next week. Monday came and went, it's still there. I called this morning, they promised to get it today. Guess what? It's STILL HERE. These guys should run for office, because they have the lying part down COLD.

As I sat at my window this morning, I made a casual observation that completely shocked me. The serviceman was loading a recycled bin into his container truck with the lift. I noticed a single piece of paper escape the garbage can. He stopped the operation, came around his vehicle and proceeded to pick up that one piece of paper and throw it in his bin. Awful experience with this company. I was a customer for approximately 5 years. Without reason or notification Republic Services suddenly doubled their quarterly pricing. When I called them to ask why, they simply stated there was a price adjustment in my area. I then gave them the option to reduce their pricing, and was informed that they could not do that. So I then canceled. When I did so, I informed them that I would return their 2 containers, and that I was not going to pay more fees for them to come and pick up the containers after they doubled my charges. Sure enough, they came the next day anyway, took their 2 containers, along with another container that was not theirs and then billed me another $60 to do so. Then I processed a Damage Claim with them to try to get the other container back and or the $60 fee taken off my bill.
I went through over 10 phone calls with various customer service employees, they would all end with, "we will reach out to you in 24 to 48 hours." Most of the time, no one contacted me. After spending many weeks going back and forth between Tanisha, Brad, Franny, Monic, Jasmine, Justin and Shamequa, I was finally sent to Garth who was the local facility operator for my damage claim ins Bucks County PA. This experience at the facility operator level was completely unprofessional. He was blaming "corporate" for many things, took no ownership of the removal of the extra container by his team, even though it took them over a month to get back to me, and then I was even informed that when he previously repossessed cars for a living, he had every right to trespass on customer's property. It was truly a terrible experience. I switch to Whitetail Disposal for the previous quarterly fee rate and they have been fantastic ever since.

Every time they come I have to go out and sweep up The street. Their billing dept. is the worst to deal with. I paid for a bulk pick up, that's a pre pay and they do not show up. They are terrible to deal with on the phone. Stay away.

I have had ongoing problems with this trash company for months. I have even called to make sure they really are picking up on my scheduled pickup date so not to leave my trash bin out too often. Because sometimes the trash has been missed and not picked up until the nexted scheduled pickup day the following week. I call before they close to let them know I haven't been picked up and I don't want my overflow trash left out for animals to get into. But their customer service tells me it will get picked up and it doesn't happen. Then when I call the next day they tell me that no one noted a missed pick up so I go through the same routine day after day. Then it gets to the weekend and my trash is now sitting at my curb all week almost and I get to call talk to their customer dis-service people to try still to get it picked up. It's so exhausting and to top it off I pay for this (DIS)service!

It's after Thanksgiving, our bins are overflowing and they just missed the pickup! We call every day, they say that they would escalate the issue and they'll be there tomorrow to pick up. 4 days later and we hear the same escalation story!!! They just say the same script and nothing happens. Just come pick up the bins! I called again today, another customer service person goes... "sorry about that sir, have we missed your pickup by more than 3-4 weeks?".. Weeks? WEEKS?! This actually happens? 2 months ago they missed pickup by days, we called and called, then they had the audacity of charging us for 2 "Special Pickups" on top of the monthly charge. I'm going crazy with this company!

Horrible business practices! I first signed up in late August 2019 and was asked for a partial payment upfront which I paid via credit card. The invoice arrived shortly afterwards but my partial payment was not applied. After numerous phone calls (each time I was told that the payment was lost) they finally "found" it and applied it. Another quarterly invoice arrived with a due date 12/05/19. I mailed a check on 11/15/19 and the check never cleared the bank. I called Republic Services last week and was told they do not have the payment. Because the due date was approaching, I paid it via credit card last week. Surprise! I just checked my bank statement today and they cashed the check I mailed over 3 weeks ago. I do show a credit on my account but this has been nothing but a hassle! Wasting my time with frustrating phone calls always trying to reconcile payments. How difficult is it to process payments????

Republic took over our trash service. 3 out of 3 weeks they have failed to pick up on the assigned day. We asked if they would just switch pick up days to the actual day they would be picking up. I was told that our day would remain as listed and that they were sorry for the inconvenience. They can't even assure me what day it Will actually get picked up. Maybe a day late or 2. They're not sure exactly. I asked if there was a manager or someone in charge who might actually care about a customer having an ongoing problem like this. It also leaves us open to fines by the city.

I recently discontinued Republic Services after seeing my bill go up significantly pay period after pay period. A while back (years ago), they had acquired a local waste collection company in my area. As a result, they switched our service to use their containers, schedule, etc. Well after seeing my bill increase after 3 pay periods, I discontinued their service. Shortly after that, I received a "late fee" out of nowhere and most recently (just yesterday), I received an $88.65 bill for container removal, fuel/environmental recovery, and solid waste recovery fee! I called into their 'customer service' number to inquire and dispute those fees and was transferred, only to be disconnected without an attempt to call me call-back! (Yes, they asked for my number 'in the case' we got disconnected). Bad customer service, unfortunately. Republic - you need to make this right.

Absolute ridiculous company with the worst customer service ever. I submitted a transfer for my services from my old home to my new home back in October. It is now December and STILL have not had a trash pick up. They can’t get their billing correct, overcharge every time leaving a credit on your account. They don’t pick up as scheduled and all they can say is “sorry for the inconvenience”. They will be sorry when I call the local news and tell the story how awful they are. You don’t even get a local rep when you call the local contact phone number! I spoke to someone in a different state every time. They suck and they know it but they don’t care.

I just wanted to say you should be ashamed of yourselves charging $100.00 to drop off cans and have no option to pick up or drop off when you end service or start service. I just had to switch to you guys because Rumpke no longer services our area and I received the bill and it says $174.00. Haven't even had trash picked up yet.. When service was set up the lady told my husband $50.00 to drop cans off. Today it says on the bill $100.00.

I have read through the other reviews and this is just a repeat rant about the Republic company! They are dishonest and are the highest price trash company in this area and the price just keeps going up! We're done! I have been overcharged for container pickup as so many others have as well. I will post this on as many sites as I can to prevent others from being taken advantage of! We are putting a complaint into the attorney generals office. I also have a son-in-law in Lansing in the State House of Representatives and he loves to defend the citizens rights! Maybe the rest of these people that have been taken advantage of will be vindicated.

Republic Services acquired my disposal service about a year ago, my bill was always 90 dollars for 3 months service. Every bill gets higher progressively, I called to cancel and was told after offering to “get me a better rate” that they would charge me 30 dollars to pick up my trash cans. I did not sign for this charge and I will not pay it. This is the second time Republic has taken over another service, Once in another city. This is a shakedown operation and should be avoided when possible!

Missed trash pick ups over billing, can only read response off of computer screen. Use this company at your own risk. Two weeks in a row they have missed my trash. They can't come back to get it. I've nowhere left to put my trash. Ya call the place and it's just someone reading from a computer screen and that all they do is read from the screen.

I’ve had Republic Services for years and they were always good on not forgetting my house. I’ve had neighbors say that they were skipped several times. I recently added a can. They said that it would be delivered on our trash day and it wasn’t. It showed up a couple of days later. Now I have a bill for $70 for a receptacle delivery! I was never warned about this charge. Pretty shady business practice. I will be canceling my service tomorrow. I’m not paying that fee. I guess I’ll let small claims work this out if it comes to that.

Two weeks out of four weeks this month there has been no trash pickup. We always take the trash out to the end of the driveway the night before. I called customer service today and I was told there was not anybody to service the account until the next week, they were short-handed and Thanksgiving was coming up. Now this is not the first time but I have two completely full bins and Thanksgiving is coming up. This service is completely unacceptable.

The day our dumpster was to be delivered got no call or delivery. Called in. Tried to contact a supervisor about the issue and got no call. No response. Just got given excuse after excuse. Republic Services missed picking up our trash on multiple occasions. When we contacted them, they said they would get it the next day- NOT! Then when we canceled them, they billed us for the 2 months following the cancellation and then charged us to pick up the trash cans. I asked and was told TWICE that a supervisor would call me to no avail. Their customer service people were ZERO help when it came to arguing about the amount due. For the simple fact that I didn't want to continue dialogue, we paid them what they said we owed them, though I have a HUGE problem paying someone to come pick up their equipment. I have been charged for a garbage can rental fee for multiple years. I have always owned my own can. The bill says "R" which apparently stands for rental. I would still not have noticed except that my gf pointed out that "R" was for rental. It is not explained anywhere on the billing or the website that "R" means rental - heck, I thought it was either a regulartory fee or an extra fee for my rural location. My billing when I first moved into my current address had no rental on it which Republic says was "mistakenly added on". But here is the kicker... They will only reimburse me for 2 years. Sooo now I have to go over all my billing - (yes I have every invoice) and file a formal complaint with the AG to get the rest of my overcharges returned to me; or let them just get away with pulling $$ from my billfold like a common thief. It's probably only $20-$30 but it's the principle of the matter.... What should I do?

My wife and I moved into a new house this past winter and called up Republic Services to update our address. The rep I spoke with made the mistake of creating a 2nd account for us instead of simply clicking "update" address. Now we had 2 addresses to pay for apparently. A few months later we had a service interruption (they stopped picking up our garbage) which is when we discovered we had 2 accounts open- I had only been paying for the old address. I asked them to delete our old address from the system, and transfer the payments from the old house to the new house. They said we'll have our team call you back later in the week to confirm everything was back on track.
They never called, our trash wasn't picked up yet again. I called them back again, talked to a rep who was very helpful and my service was resumed. I thought everything was back to normal. Many more months went by and just recently my trash can was removed by them. I called yet again to see what the problem was and apparently when they deleted my old account they chose not to transfer the card that was set up for auto-pay to the new account. Now I have to wait for up to 48 hours to hear from their billing department so I can have service resumed.
ALL of this could have easily been avoided many times over had they simply UPDATED ADDRESS, UPDATED BILLING FOR THE 2ND ACCOUNT THEY INCORRECTLY MADE FOR ME. Why didn't anyone ask me for updated billing info? I feel like I need to hold their hand every step of the way and I struggle wrapping my head around this whole twilight zone experience. If you ever move addresses, I would highly recommend cancelling service with Republic Services, and find a new provider. It's not worth the hassle.

I would like to share negative experience with Republic. I was a very good customer for two years, since we moved into our new neighborhood. About two months ago I received a bill with about 30% (!!!) price increase (for removal of residential trash from 121 to 163$ for two containers twice / week). I called their customer service and was told they had to increase the prices. I asked to disconnect and received a price of 80$ / two a week for one container from their competitor. I was happy to disconnect. I was told that Republic will collect the bins and charge me 60$ fee for this service. I agreed.
I was surprised when Republic charged me 79.40$ fee for this service. I called their customer service and I was told they charged me environmental fees for removing the bins. almost 20$ on top of 60$. I wanted to share with you that you need to check the bills and watch all the fees and price increases that Republic is charging. I also think it's a good idea to compare prices in the market.

We had a 3-Year contract for an 8-Yard Cardboard Recycling container to be picked up and exchanged weekly for $83.36 per month. At the end of our contract - without communicating with us in advance - they increased the rate by more than 20%. So, we cancelled our service. Then they charged us a one-time container removal fee of $109.73, which is more than our normal monthly fee for exchanging our container every week. Ridiculous. Additionally, when you call Republic Services - even during normal business hours - you talk to an answering service. If you want to discuss issues and/or cancellation with an account manager, they take a message and inform you that an account manager will call you within 24 to 48 hours. HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE! We recommend calling Waste Connections. They are a better company with lower rates and better customer service.

I don't think this company is even worth a 1 star. They are a joke and service is terrible. They have left trash behind, the recycle bins have been left un-emptied and they allow their garbage to fly around the whole neighborhood and they're all too lazy to pick it up. They have "policies" to enable their laziness. This week was Veterans Day and many of us on "this side" of the street assumed that because of the holiday everyone would be picked up a day late..(another policy). BUT NO...they decided to stick to the normal schedule leaving many of us without trash removal. READY FOR THIS? The other side of the street was picked up and although the rest of us were ONLY ACROSS the street, (literally a stone's throw) these lazy butts refused to finish the job.
This company hides behind their rules and policies to avoid doing work they just don't want to do. The worst is when our bill went up and you wonder what you are paying extra for. Unfortunately, we are billed with the city of Mishawaka so there isn't any choice as to what company they want to push down our throats. Warning: If you have a choice, don't pick this one!!!

I recently had a dispute with Republic Services as I had been overcharged for years. They were charging me almost double what my neighbors were paying. I tried to get the same rate as my neighbors, but they didn't want to give me that rate until I called to cancel my service. By then it was too late as I had already hired a new trash removal service. Years ago when they delivered my trash bin I was charged $35 for the delivery. Now that I cancelled the service, they charged me $39 to come and pick up their trash bin. What a racket!! Republic charges all kinds of fees and seem to charge you for every damn thing!!
I was told when I cancelled my service that I would get a one month refund, but it didn't come. So I called to find out where the refund was and they told me I had to call to request my refund. Really!!! The new trash service I went with is Mountain View. They are cheaper than Republic and don't charge all kinds of fees and delivered their trash bins for free. I am very happy with my new trash service and their cost. If you are considering changing trash services, please consider them as I would highly recommend anybody that has Republic to change to the new service I am using.

Had a past due balance. Got my services so call SUSPENDED and when I called and paid the bill I was told services would resume MONDAY THE FOLLOWING WEEK! Which is my normal day of pick up! Monday came and went. I called in my way home and was told, "We will pick it up on the next day or by Wednesday 5 at the very latest!" Again I called back Wednesday evening with the customer service giving me the run around saying I was never placed on a "missed pick up list" that probably never existed!!
After that phone call I was told "Hey it's after 4pm I can't put you on a urgent list for tomorrow." It's too late! May as well wait til Monday on your normal pick up day!" What a joke! They were quick to take my money but not to provide me with services! You know it would of went a long way if they were ever doing even a fraction of their job! They could of at the very least pushed back my billing cycle but nobody at the office could understand that! After this I'm probably gonna find a new trash service! Very disappointed!

I was with republic for 5 yrs. I always had a hard time with them, from their fuel surcharges that multiply every quarter to their mysterious add on taxes, then theres the rates that appear without warning, increases increases! So i had to go to another state, my account put on hold until i returned 6mo.later the same 200.00 credit that i had paid toward my account in advance, just vanished! I called, and ws told.. Sorry you dont get that money back, we take it because after 6mo.our system updates and clears out all credits back to us, in other words they are thieves!! This happened twice to me in 2 yrs! They stole my money! Recently i called to cancel their ripoff services, i first talked to matthew in vegas corp. Senior advisor, he said republic will send me a refund, Guess What? It never happened! Another lie! Then he becomes unavailable, shauna calls me from ceo don s***** office, and tells me: dont call here anymore, that she runs the show, and shes the boss, and then calls me a P O.S.trash! And im not getting a dime back ever! Then hangs up. I call back to ask to speak to ceo don s*****, shauna tells me ha ha im his secretery and what i say is the rule.. And that i will never get a message to don s*****, because i wont ever put you thru! At this point im going to blast every social medoa i can ,until i get my refund due. And i also happen to have a wealthy uncle that owns quite a lot of stock in republic, so i will be seeing my uncle soon to discuss this behavior of republic services, beware people, be cautious of republic services!

Never pick up the trash on time, they don’t advise when they are delayed or not coming at all. They’ve missed my trash for 3 weeks in a row and all I heard was, "You’ll be put on the missed pickup list" just to be missed then as well. 3rd call today in reference to trash that was scheduled for pickup this past Monday. Significant amount of trash left in trash bin. Was told on Monday that maybe the trash bin wasn't shaken enough. We will get someone out to pick up trash. Tuesday trash still not picked up. Was told that it would taken care of by the end of business day. Today is Wednesday. Made another call and another apology along with a promise of someone from my area main office calling me by the end of business today. I don't want a freaking call. I want the service that I pay for!
Few weeks ago our subdivision didn't get trash pick up because of mechanical issues and we got a phone msg that our area would be serviced the following day and of course that didn't happen. So another call had to be placed. Kudos. The trash was picked up! Now let's see if I get the service or even a supposedly call back by the end of this business day for service that was due on Monday and still 2 days later hasn't been done.

Spoke to Stephanie from the Longview Office and was told that she will tell the Sales Rep, Chris ** to call me back, I waited and waited, one week passed never heard from either one of them. I called customer service and spoke to Barbara ** and was promised to send a form for a new agreement. 12 hours passed never received an email from her. Republic Services has the worst Customer Service. If we have an option, we already drop their service but we don't. None recommendable. They need to train their representative to be more compassionate and take ownership of the problem/issue. Very disappointed on how was treated as a customer.

We have had to deal with Republic since they took over our route from Groot. We did not choose to have them as our 6 flat garbage service. Since taking over the route we have experienced a number of missed pick ups and inconsistent service. Excuses included a new route driver. The driver did not show up for work and there wasn't a substitute. Just to name a few. Most recently I was informed that in order to get a credit on my account for a missed pick up I need to call within 24 hours. If this is the case then there should be an after hours answering service to take messages.
After giving me a credit for a missed pick up I was then charged 25 dollars for an overcharge because the container was too full. I was told if the top lids are not laying flat then I will be charged. I was never told this in prior communication. I even explained that when the service is late or missed the garbage will pile up. I will make every effort going forward to call consistently to register my complaints so there is a record. Poor customer service and lack of reliability. Very frustrating!

Been with Republic for a couple of years. Never a problem with my pick up. Never been late on a payment (always early). Recently they charged an old method of payment and to boot on a date other than the due date. The card naturally was not accepted. After two calls requesting a return call from billing I waited. I have heard nothing. My experience is that the billing department does not give a hoot about customer service or resolutions. Otherwise the actual pick up service has been right on spot! They do need to train their billing dept. in how to provide basic customer service.

We have been with Republic Services for three years now in the Denver metro area. In the beginning, they were spot on every pickup day and never missed a pickup even in bad weather. Obviously something major changed in the last year. In the past six months we have had over at least 20 missed pickups, for undetermined reasons. The first couple I never called and told them so that is on me. After the fourth one I started calling and that is when the lies and extremely terrible customer service started. I have now spent over 15 hours on the phone communicating between different supervisors with nothing resolved only false promises. This company is falling apart and I refuse to give them money for services they can not fulfill. If you are looking to do business with this company do yourself a favor and don't even think about it unless you like getting lied to and throwing your money away.

Our garbage is supposed to be picked up on Tuesdays. For the 4th time in 9 weeks, our side of the street has been missed. Several calls into the dispatch (each time it's been missed) has yielded ZERO results. The first week, it was never picked up, even though they said they were sending a truck out. This week (after blasting them on social media), I was told they would pick up on Thursday. It's 1:30pm on Friday and the garbage still hasn't been picked up.
We are met with RUDE people on the phone who are NOT interested in making the customer happy. They could care less that their drivers are NOT doing their job. There haven't been ANY credits given. Apparently it's not their policy. This company should be banned from doing business in our city. They are worse than the trash they pick up.

Service was fine. I call when I need pickup. They come. Just don't leave anything valuable in surrounding area!! Need to downsize and am told I can never have this business in their service area or they will "enforce the contract". I know of no contract like that. And very sick of the fuel charges for all the months I never call for service. ' 12.70 / month.

I have a 3 yard container already paid for in front of my house. It was supposed to be picked up on Saturday. The driver without even touching the container or trying to remove it said it was too heavy and more or less implied he would remove it for a tip. I had to call Monday to follow up and told them the story. They said no problem. They would remove it Tuesday which of course they didn’t. Come Wednesday 10 minutes before they close they leave me a message it’s too heavy. It has wood cardboard and nothing really heavy like concrete or dirt. They took other containers I had with no issue so the moral of the story is tip the driver or your trash won’t get dumped.

RWS changed their pickup schedule for recycles in our area after about 2 weeks of service. This, along with continued MISSED pickups caused me to cancel service. We had just paid, and only used the service for less than 4 weeks, I was due a refund. I've been working on this since JULY 22, 2019 and STILL do not have a refund. I've asked to speak to supervisors, had refund dates promised, and even had a customer support supervisor tell me that the refund comes from the local branch of service, only to be told later that wasn't true. I'm not sure where to turn next, I feel like we have no recourse and they are just hoping we will give up and go away. That is not likely.

Have been a customer of Republic for over 20 years. Understandably the cost of service has increased over time. That's life. But I was more than a little outraged to receive our most recent billing invoice to find that our quarterly cost had increased by over $35. If you do the math, this represents a 21.6% increase over our last bill. I'm no genius, but I'm a little hard-pressed to come up with another business that has had the audacity to give themselves such a price hike for their services and still be able to keep their doors open. But Republic Services is a big company and I am but a small person--65 years young and still trying to find my way in the world. If I eat all of the vegetables on my plate, maybe I'll come to understand such complicated matters one day. But that ain't today.

The company did in fact finally pickup my trash 3 days late. I follow the process and opened a ticket for next day pickup for a missed pickup (notes in the ticket were that I didn't leave the can out - not true). Only after leaving a 1 star review and 2 more days, did the issue get resolved. I'm upgrading my star review to 2 stars and no more as I was not satisfied with the overall experience. I truly would like to see overall improvement. I'm still dissatisfied that the notes of the ticket imply that I didn't leave the can accessible, when I know the can didn't move from Sunday PM until I got home from work on the 31st.

I have been with this company for a number of years. The bill goes up without any notice - which is a problem in of itself. The reason I'm writing this is because my pickup day is Monday (recycle every other Monday). This week both were to be picked up. My recycle bin was picked up, however my trash (sitting right next to my recycle bin) was not picked up. BOTH MY NEIGHBORS were picked up! I followed the process and opened a missed pickup ticket (pickup next day) and the local office canceled it at 9:37 on Tuesday saying the bin was not left out. I put my bins out on Sunday night - I left the trash bin where it was for pickup on Tuesday.
This company (as any other) wants to be paid on time for their services - I want what I pay for!! I called the customer service number today and learned of the canceled ticket and was told they would contact the local pickup and escalate the call. I said I want compensation (as they charge a late fee if I don't pay my bill on time) for the missed pick up. Bad customer service is an understatement. I will be looking around for a new provider!

I have had several missed garbage pickups first called in August, did not bother until I had enough of the every other week or at best two weeks in a row normal service. I have called now twice in October, each time, they state the problem will be sent to supervisor and will be picked up in two days, only happened once. Do not, do not, use them as they do not provide service, they never seem to correct the issue - entire side of street missed - really - multiple times.

Our bill for 3 months is now $161.55 for one 90 gal, 1 lift per week residential. They charge us a $40.10 for Total Fuel/Environmental Recovery Fee. Customer service says everyone pays that! Lie. My neighbor a few doors down pays $48.60 for 3 months with no Fuel/Enviro/Recovery Fee. They told us we were paying that much because we been their customer for about 20 years and payment goes up every year. They also said, "You should have called and ask years ago," if they had any deals going on. All the money we overpaid to them all these years they said was our fault.
I guess it was, we assumed they were in the same ball park as everyone else. So for any of you that have this service make sure you check it out because we will never get that money back! We just contacted another company and their 3 month service is $42.00 with no Fuel/Environmental Fees. I talked to 4 different customer service and only one was friendly about the issue. The others told me I was not over paying and that others were paying more. Sad Sad Company!!!

Absolutely horrible company. We used them for a few months and things seemed fine. We needed to upgrade out dumpster because we had 3 events in a weekend that generate a lot of trash. They started charging me for the upgraded dumpster weeks before it was delivered and then they delivered it half full making it useless for what I needed! I have called and called trying to get help and they just keep filing complaints for me but no one actually calls me back or helps. The customer services line can't actually help and can't give you the number for the local branch. Corrupt business and zero customer service. Canceling asap.

Roseville, MN 55113. Did business with the republic for many years. Bills has increased dramatically. Walter gave us a good quote. So I called the republic and wanted to cancel the service. After know the reason I will leave, one lady in republic would like me to stay her company and said she will lower the rate. After three months gone, my rate did not change. I called again and another lady said she will take care of it. But my rate did not change. No way, I have to cancel my service at October 11, 2019. One gentleman said he will charge $30 for container removal fee. I said it is Ok. But they charged me $61.51 instead of $30. I called back and asked bill question. One lady said something wrong happened and she will take care to correct it and let me call it back in 2 days. After four days, I called back and they said nothing wrong. I have to pay. In my experience, Republic is not reliable and dishonest.

Oakdale MN 55128. Did business with this company for many years. Bills have increased dramatically. Called and tried to negotiate a better price. No deal. Cancelled service. Was informed that there was a $60 pickup fee for their containers. Thought and expressed that was ridiculous but just to move on ok. Was told containers would be picked up in a week. 2 weeks later finally then was my bill was $170 and past due. Talked to them again. Was told they would drop it to $58. Ok waited for online billing to change.
Week later still the same. Contacted again. Now told new amount was rejected by credit manager and new bill will be $88 so I paid and got a auth #. Told them I was very unhappy and was going on social media about this. They told be careful that this price could change. Week later price changed again to $128. Really do not do business with these people and if you are get out I promise you their competition will save you $ over time. I work in the trucking industry and we never treat even ** customers like the this. Maybe that is why we are one of the top distributors in the midwest!!!

I have only been a customer for one year. Within the past year I've had to call this company almost monthly to have my recycle trash picked up. There is never a valid reason given as to why the trash was not picked up. The normal routine from customer service is, they send a notice to the "Operations Manager" to have the truck come the next day; it never happens!! Here is my thought---when Republic does not pick up the trash (outside of holidays and bad weather), I will bring my trash to them! I will be happy to bag up my trash and walk it into their office! I strongly recommend this strategy to anyone who is dealing with this issue! I am happy to discuss this matter with anyone from Republic who is capable of making internal changes that will provide a service that customers are paying for!

My company uses Republic Services for our waste disposal. We had issues where they were billing us for services we did not ask for (additional pick ups). We asked them multiple times via email and calls and were completely ignored. We asked them to cancel our service multiple times due to these issues and they just completely ignored our requests. Months later we finally got a reply and they said we had to send a certified letter to request cancellation (this was never mentioned to us in the multiple calls or emails for months of us asking for them to cancel our service until it got escalated). I am not sure if they purposely overbill to steal from clients or if they are just incompetent. Either way I would recommend that no one do business with them. There are plenty of other good providers.

We had Republic Services at our previous home for 13 months. On 10/28/19 I called to transfer the service to our new address. I was advised that our service day would be Mondays and we could start that coming Monday. CSR indicated that if we moved the can ourselves it would save us $75. Gladly! Monday came and went, no garbage pick up. I called Tuesday and they agreed to pick up on Wednesday. Wednesday came and went, no pick up. I called Thursday and after a lengthy explanation was told that they couldn't even find my account. I requested a supervisor. After another lengthy explanation the supervisor started a new account and promised to call back by the end of the day with the new account number and pick up day for current garbage. No return call. I called again and requested the same supervisor by name.
After yet another lengthy explanation/question and answer session I was told the supervisor want available but the CSR would leave a message. Nope. The CSR couldn't provide a date on when the garbage would be picked up. I requested to just cancel the service. Transferred again. ANOTHER explanation session. To assure me that action was being taken this CSR shared that our tote would arrive on the 28th. We never even requested another tote. We brought the original one as discussed in the very first phone call. She couldn't help me further until she cancelled that service that we had not requested.
That was the last straw and I told her to just cancel the service. She also stated that she would be willing is for the entire month of October AND a $30 fee to pick up the can. A fee that had NEVER been disclosed to us. So we're being charged hidden fees because we didn't get service and, by the way, they wouldn't take the garbage that has been out there since Monday.I requested her supervisor. Transferred again! Aaaaaaaand, another explanation session. This CSR curtly stated that our service wasn't supposed to start until Oct. 28 (ironically our next pick up day) and despite their lack of service and the aggravation to us she would not waive the fee...and also wouldn't pick up the can and garbage until November 4th! I requested several times that she review the previous phone calls.
Important to note also, each and every time I called I asked the CSR for their name. I spoke with Greg, Brittany (x2), supervisor Ahlay (sp), Diana, Cathy and supervisor Aneesa. She wasn't familiar with the names I gave but stated that I spoke to Greg on 10/18, Jaquita on 10/19 and Davanique on 10/22. So we were set to receive a tote that we didn't request or need but did not receive trash pick up or customer service which resulted in us cancelling service and being charged an undisclosed fee.

I recently started weekly residential trash service with Republic. Signing up was easy, the rest was horrible. It started with them delaying my dumpster delivery twice without any notification and having to call twice to find out what was going on. A week later when they missed the pickup and I called to find out they hadn't pit me on a route but said they would put in a missed pickup ticket and get things fixed. After waiting for several more days, I had to call again as the dumpster was still not serviced.
After that I called nearly every day for over a week putting in missed pickup tickets with promises of it being picked up the next day. I had the dumpster for three weeks without it being serviced so I cancelled services. It took another week for them to remove the dumpster. I was assured by the customer service person I talked to that I would have my deposit refunded and would not be charged since I had not revived any of the agreed upon service. Today I received a bill for $160 with the deposit subtracted out for a grand total of $110.
All in all, I had a dumpster for three weeks with no pickups at all. I had to call their customer service a dozen times with no results. It took a week to pick up the dumpster after I cancelled service. And to top it all off, contrary to agreement, I was sent a HUGE bill for absolutely nothing but a headache. I am not sure how they stay in business with such awful business practices, but you can be sure I will be reaching out to them once again to settle the issue of this exorbitant bill.

We have had service with Republic for a few years as they bought out our previous provider. After calling to cancel our service we had our last pick up and they picked up their container. Now I get a past due bill? I was paid in full until they charged me approximately $40 to pick up their container. HIDDEN FEE I did not agree to when they purchased my original trash pick up company. HIDDEN FEE they did not inform me of when I called to cancel service. I was not given the option of returning the container to them myself. It is their property they want back and they charge me to get it back? Called customer service and was told, "Sorry not sorry. You are responsible for the fee." Definitely will not be using their service at the new house.

We had this trash company about a year. Been multiple times the trash was not picked up on the day of service which was Monday.. Tuesday came still nothing.. A Wednesday came they finally picked it up. The next week the same thing. No show Monday. No show Tuesday. Wednesday they picked it up so I decided to start putting my trash out for Wednesday since it seemed like they changed their date of service and didn't tell us.
Well here comes Monday and they came on time and I miss my trash pickup. That was just one instance did I did not complain about. The final straw was when they missed our trash. I called that day and they scheduled another trash pickup for Wednesday and Wednesday came around still trash outside. Thursday came around still trash. I had trash so much trash next to the trash can. It was just so outrageously full. I finally cancel them and told him to come get their trash and their can and we were paid up as well no missed payments and then they want to charge to pick up their trash can.
Their service is a joke. Never use these people. They are not reliable. They don't stick to any promises. They don't care that they're late and doesn't give you any type of reimbursement for when they don't come but they expect you to pay extra fees for when you can them. This company is nothing but trash. Their employees even went on strike. RUN AWAY FAR AWAY AND DON'T LOOK BACK....

I canceled my service with Republic after many late pick ups. The last straw was when they were a week late picking up my trash. I cancelled the service before the next bill was due, but I still got billed $30 to have my trash can (full of trash because they were a week behind) picked up to end service. I had to pay a fee to have you bring me the trash can! Why do I have to pay to have it picked up? I called customer service and was basically told, "Sorry but you owe us this $30." I was not told when I started service there would be a fee to have the trash can picked up. Only that there was a one time fee to deliver it. I was even charged a late fee for the $30! Who can I send my bill of late fees to for all the times my trash pick up was late?

I canceled service with Republic about a month ago. I have now called five times to have them pickup their receptacles. Each time customer service gives me a pick up date but does not pick up. I’ve left my receptacles in front of my house for 3 weeks but no pick up. I’m ready to call my Township to file an official complaint.

Updated on 12/30/2019: This is a follow up post to my prior complaint about our horrible experience with Republic Services. The service has remained the same, missed trash pick up every other week on average. They quit responding to my complaints about missed pick ups but they sure know how to send the bill out on time. I'll be going with another trash service in the new year.
Original Review: I don't understand how our trash pick-up can be missed so frequently. You have ONE JOB and that's picking up a trash can with trash in it and putting that trash in your trash truck and then drive that trash away and put it on a mountain of other people's trash. But nope, I look outside and still see my trash can in the street full of. Wait for it. TRASH!! The really cool part about this is after I call in and complain, and they schedule a "make-up pick-up day" and I leave my trash out on said day. Yep! Trash still in the trash can. My bill is paid in full, three months in advance even, but you can't provide the service that I have paid for. My bill goes up every month and the service gets worse. I can imagine how fun it'll be to cancel the non-trash service and get a refund in a timely manner. I'll submit a follow up post to let you all know how that process goes.

After requesting stopping service in August 2019 I was still being billed and Republic Services was charging me a trash container removal charge of $30.00 to come get their container I never agreed to this charge and the company continues to charge late fees if you don't pay it. The company does not care about not having agreed to this prior to to starting service. The company would not resolve my complaint and customer service was a waste of time. I would not recommend anyone to use their service unless you want to be charged for unauthorized fees.

I cancelled service Sept 30, 2019. All I need is for Republic Services to pickup their trash can. I have been told every week it will be Thursday. To date they have not picked up. I am exhausted after calling customer service. They don't have managers to escalate issues to. They can't transfer me to the department that's actually picking up the can. They are terrible and I would never recommend this company.

I started trash and recycling service in early July 2019. 3 months later, Republic failed to pickup my recycling on its scheduled pickup day even ONCE. I created multiple missed-pickups tickets, and those were never serviced either. Over a total of 3 months I contacted them more than 20 times, and they simply did not provide the service I was paying them for. Additionally, they gave me a 2nd trash bin that I never asked for. It took them about 4 tries over 1.5 months to come pick up this additional bin that was never requested.
I've never dealt with a company that was so incompetent at providing a service, and then doubling down by having terrible customer service that isn't interested in solving your problem. Seriously, they just promise that your issue will be corrected on the next pickup date (Shocker...it wasn't ever corrected). It's seriously not worth your time to even deal with these guys if you live in Colorado. Waste Management is cheaper anyway.

Cancelling with this company was a nightmare. I was moving, and called them BEFORE my last invoice to cancel, turned OFF my auto-pay and then they still took the money from my account for 3 months of service. When I asked them what to do, they told me to call my bank and cancel the payment. THEN they told me I had to wait 6 weeks for the account to close and they would mail me a check for the 2 months difference they owed me. Today I see a charge from them - I call and they say I have to pay $85 for the cans to be picked up! I asked her, why did no one tell me this in the SIX times I have called and talked to you all over the last month. She didn't know why... Horrible company, horrible customer service and business ethics. Also note, they raised my price to almost double over my 6 years with them. Terrible.

Used Republic for almost 20 years. Needed to change after several time missing pickups. Sometimes they would make an effort and pick up a day or two after we were "skipped" but other times we just had to keep trash or recycles until the next week. Requested refund for missed pickups with replies that they do not give refunds. Once we canceled service Republic charged $60 to pick up empty cans. We never agreed to pay such a fee and decided not to, now we are receiving letters, and phone calls and are being threatened with collections.

We have had our fair amount of money issues, We called in early September 2019 to discuss that our bill would be paid on 9-20-19, the day of our next pickup. The rep said she would note the account so services wouldn't be affected. So 9-20 comes and the garbage isn't picked up and the bill was paid. So we call and they have added a $35 interruption fee on 9-13. So we cancel services. Then they send us a bill for picking up the cans and other fess for $130.00. I called and they won't do anything so I said it won't be getting paid. We shall see what they try next. If at all possible don't use this company.

I have used Republic Services in Grand Prairie, Texas for over 24 years and their service is awful. They just don't care about resolving customer complaints. They have skipped picking up my dumpster many times and are virtually unresponsive. Well, they say, we will give you an extra pick up on another day that they are already scheduled. They won't credit your account for the missed pickup. They also spilled paint from one of their trucks on my driveway. Oh, they said "that's terrible...I will send out a supervisor to inspect the damage and remedy the situation". After 3 weeks and numerous phone calls, no one ever came out to inspect the spillage. I plan on visiting my city council and complaining about their lack of service. They apparently have a contract with the city.

I will not be using the trash pick up services for approximately 6 weeks because the house will be vacant until the new owner moves in and they begin trash service. Republic Services will continue billing until close of escrow even though there will be no pick up at the location until the new owner occupies the residence. That is, in my opinion, theft plain and simple. I am no longer using a service and yet I continue to get charged for it. When a consumer no longer needs a service and cancels, the service and the charges should be discontinued immediately. However when the company does not pick up, there is no compensation, and in the event you have an extra bag of trash they are more than happy to charge more. Because a consumer has no choice typically in which utilities are available for use there should be common decency in how businesses treat their customers. Incredibly disappointed in this policy.

I called Republic Services today because the trash was not picked up at our house last week due to the strike. I asked if I would be charged for the week and they said that they would be doing a double pick up. A double pick up means you have trash coming out of the trash bin, that's their definition. I explained I only had trash inside the trash bin and that I did not want to be charged the week they did not pick up. They told me they would credit my account. I specifically called Republic Services because I figured they would try something like this, to charge me for the week I didn't receive service. I consider this an extremely deceptive practice.

After being a loyal customer for 20+ years, we decided to change providers due to the price increases for weekly garbage service. When I called to cancel service, I was treated rudely and promised that my empty garbage can would be picked up within the next 10 days. Nearly 4 weeks and 3 phone calls later, the smelly can sat at my curbside for the entire month of August. They even had the nerve to bill me $30 for picking up the can, when in fact they did not pick it up. They finally did come to pick up the can, after 4 weeks, but refused to waive the $30 fee for picking back up their empty can. There are many garbage companies out there for a fraction of the cost (I am paying 1/4 what I was paying) who deserve your business, this company is not worthy!!! Shop around!

I was a loyal customer with Republic Services for 4 years. Every year, the price for my trash pick up continued to increase to $115. When I called to cancel my service because the rate was too high. I was able to cancel without a problem. However, what I wasn't told was that I would be charged $84.91 for Republic Services to pick up their trashcans. I received the bill in the mail 3 months after my service was cancelled. When I called to inquire about the fee, I was told that someone would look into it because I should have been informed of the charged when I cancelled. I am not satisfied with the lack of resolve. To be charged $84.91 to pick up their company trashcans is absurd, it's a total ripoff.

Since the city of Renton, WA switched from Waste Management to Republic Services, the service has been completely unreliable. We have had to call about 15 times in the last year to report failure to pick up. It never gets better despite the lip service. It's like they're practicing to be a real company someday. Sick of it and not holding my breath.

Republic Services was a mess from the very start. When I set it up I ordered one trash and one recycling and they told me that next trash day they would deliver the containers. That did not happen. It took over a month before we got anything and at that point we only got trash. One week later we got recycling after about 4 calls to Republic. First bill comes in, which was very high, because for some reason we were charged for the entire month we didn't have any containers, but not only that, we were apparently charged for THREE containers. Never got a refund on that by the way. When cancelling it took about 20 minutes on the phone because for some reason I was transferred to Georgia, who of course was confused as to why I was transferred there when I live in Minnesota, so they had to transfer me back. After cancelling, it was fun to find out that 5 months later they still sent a bill....

We recently moved and signed up with Republic because that is what the previous owner had. While they did deliver the cans on time it was all downhill from there. We had service for about 4 months and in that time Republic missed pick up about 50% of the time. We would call and they would promise to pick up the next day. Still no show. For the most part we would wait and hope they showed up the next week. The excuses were many but, at the end of the day, Republic was basically incompetent. To add icing on the cake, I now have an invoice for $90.79 to pick up their cans. The invoice is credited $66.16 for unused leaving a balance of $24.63. I called and requested they waive this based on all of the issues and the missed pick ups and they refused to do so. I guess we will see where this goes.

Worst trash company we've ever dealt with! They selected which bags they wanted out of my trash can and left the rest laying in my alley. I called multiple times to get my trash picked up, and each time, there's an excuse, or they just keep rescheduling. This is unacceptable. They refuse to pick up my missed trash. ***Beware*** Don't try complaining on social media - they blocked me! We recently cancelled with Republic Services because our service was not always good. We had times that our cans didn't get emptied at all or somehow didn't get emptied all the way. When our trash/recycling got skipped I made a phone call. They promised to be back out in a couple days but never showed up. When I got charged a bin removal fee I called to get that waived since our service was bad at times. I found that their customer service is bad as well. They took no responsibility for the bad service saying it was completely up to me to continually keep calling when the truck didn't return. (And that was a supervisor.) Several of our neighbors had Republic Services as well and have experienced bad service. I think every one of them has discontinued their service with Republic.

Apparently when you cancel your service, they'll wait until the end of the current month, then charge you half your quarterly bill to remove their containers. Not surprising they don't talk about it on their website, but it would have been nice to know the terms, as I would have scheduled it better.

First they delivered the trash can 3 days later than agreed upon and then less than a month later erroneously billed me for charges I had already paid for. Within the last 2 months they have neglected to perform their weekly pickup twice. The first time they made a pickup the day after the scheduled pick-up day. The second time was 4 days ago and I'm still waiting.

When we canceled our service they sent us a $71 bill to pick up the trash can that is more than our bill. We asked if we could drop the old trash can off, we were told no. I was with this company over twenty five years. In that time frame the company changed owners and names three times. Two years ago they stopped picking up my yard waste so I called them and they said that I never had yard waste removal. So this year I chose to change companies so I sent them a notice of cancelation.
Two weeks later I called them and was told the service wasn't canceled and that they do not use correspondence. After getting transferred to three different people the guy said that all was taken care of and they wanted to charge 30 dollars a container to pick up from my home. I made the choice to drop the containers off at their facility. A person there Told me that the service was not canceled and that I still owe money. She told me that she took care of the charges. 10 days later I get a notice that I still owe money. So I tried to call them and got tired and annoyed at the phone system and the complete lack of customer service. I think that they are mad that they are losing so many customers because they charge too much and have very poor customer service.

I am very disappointed, I am paying for a service that I did not get, they missing pickup frequently, and now I moved to another house, I did the mistake to just change my address, they charged me $66 to remove the container and put in the new house plus others fees. I am very upset. Pretty Disappointed with the new service I had requested. Pick up schedule was confirmed to start on 09/12. It's been two weeks, garbage not been picked up yet. Trash container was supposed to be delivered on 09/10, received it after few follow up this week. When requested to cancel my service, was asked to pay 60$ (Trash Can delivery and Disposal fee) irrespective of the fact no service has been provided yet. I'm another victim of the experiment of the City of St. Paul dealing with the scam artists at Republic. I have been trying to speak to a supervisor at RS for around 6-9 months regarding the billing on my account because I was getting overcharged. After many months, I got a call back and the woman who did not offer me a solution, and to my surprise she was going back and forth to speak to her supervisor. I asked her to put this person on the phone. I spoke to Mr. Romack ** who was shady and very disrespectful as if he was a dictator. I was very specific with him that I am a customer and I'm not under his supervision. On a follow up call, he lost it because I called him out on his unethical behavior. This company has to be investigated for their practices, tactics and billing. This is a crime against good paying tax-payers. Who appointed Mr. Romack ** to a position that would require emotional maturity to handle customers and not animals.

Republic Services have contract with Gwinnett County. Calling county tomorrow. My mother paid for the 6 months Jan-Jun yard waste pickup $45. She went to Europe for 6 months and RS is sending bills for the new period July-December. Then two weeks later late fee, then collection department. I called customer service and lady told me that we must pay new bill and late fees because we did not stop service (service is still "active"). My mother never signed for service until canceled. Then I spoke to different person (I have recording) where she told me that if I pay $45, I don't need to pay late fees. Paid $45 right then, but now month later I am getting new bill for $35 (interruption fee). I asked customer service lady to cancel my mother's account today. She said that she can only do it at the end of the month. And payment that I made for $45 is not returnable, because it is already processed.

I had trash service with Republic Services for several years. Service was not that bad, but do not believe the price you are quoted for a 2 yard residential dumpster. They always find some way to add something on (Environmental Fee, Fuel Recovery Fee, etc.). The monthly price always increased over time as well, from the quoted $72/month to over $100/month. When I called to complain, they lowered it for a few months and then it started going right back up. DO NOT SIGN A CONTRACT!!!!

Republic Services are nothing but liars and con artists. My trash has been sitting out by the curb now for several weeks and I’m constantly calling and they LIE stating someone will be out the next day to pick it up. And that a supervisor will be contacting me within 24 hours. Every day my trash just sits by the curb and no one calls.
I have recorded several conversations over the past several weeks and now that I have more than enough documentation I will be contacting another trash removal service to come and get this rotting garbage that has been sitting by the street now for WEEKS and will then go down to small claims and file a suit against them and sue for the money I have to pay out of pocket to do so, as they have no problem taking my money but are not performing the service I am paying for. I have also lodged several complaints with the BBB as well. They will not be receiving another penny from me. And when they contact me for payment I will give them the same run around they have been giving me. They are nothing but scumbag liars and thieves.

I cancelled my account at the end of a quarter (6/38/19) and was told to have the container out for the next week’s pick-up day for my housing addition. It was not collected. Called them back and set up another pick-up date. I missed the date. My fault. Set another date for 8/19/19 and again, not picked up. Customer service is “surprised “ at this. I was then to be set out and to be picked up no later than 8/36. Surprise. It’s still there! Called again on 9/9. I was told I would get a phone call in 24 hours to set up another date. This was now moved to an escalated request. Well, no phone call. Called yesterday 9/16/19 and have set a date for 9/24.
Through all of this I am still receiving a bill for the containers of $46.43. During one call, customer service said ignore the bill. Last Friday, 9/13/19, I received a final notice and a threat of turning it over to a collection agency if not paid in 10 days from the date of notice. The notice is dated 9/05/19. That makes the due date on Sunday 9/15/19. I have tried to call the local office but the call goes to their 800 number. I have even offered to take the container to a local Republic center to be told there isn’t one near me(?).
I am so frustrated! Everyone at customer service has been nice until my last call. I wanted to speak to someone above the customer service person I was talking to. I was informed anyone above her would tell me the same thing. I owe the $46.43. I have an excellent credit rating that I am not going to have ruined by this company for their failure to do their part. So I will pay. I will never recommend this company to anyone!

This is unfortunately the only option for waste removal in our town. We have lived here 6 yrs and never have received an actual bill. Twice now when we didn't pay (because we were not billed) they just stopped collecting our trash. The first time we had paid upfront for the year and then a few months later they just stopped collecting the trash. When we called to ask why we were informed that they had raised the rates after we had paid for the year so therefore we were in non payment. This most recent time my husband agreed to pay the quarterly fee and then they charged us and submitted for the annual fee and when he called to complain they assured us they would resubmit our bill for the quarterly fee and re-bill us. They never sent us the corrected bill. Instead our account was taken over by collections. We only found out because the letter from the collection agency came in the mail two days ago.
Today someone from Republic Services came into my property unbeknownst to me even though I was home all day. Without any notice of ANY KIND they dumped two full cans of trash all over my yard where my kids play and left. This company is sneaky and has the absolute worst service I have ever encountered. I wish I could take legal action.

We have been customers of Republic Services (previously Raritan Valley Disposal) for over 15 years. Over the years, costs have increased and they always worked with us. Most recently over the last year or 2, we have had our trash has been not picked up. Many times, the truck just passes by our street and does not collect. Other times, our can is not fully emptied or completely missed. Most recently, our trash was supposed to be collected on July 17th and was not collected on that date. On Friday, July 19th I called to inquire why a delay and I was told that trucks were under maintenance and should have been picked up that morning. I was leaving for a 10 day vacation that day and needed to know if my trash was going to be picked up.
The customer service rep insisted that they should have informed us (we did not get calls and neither did anyone in our neighborhood). She kept telling me to bring my can in and put it back on the curb on Monday the 22nd. I explained several times that I would not be home but she was not hearing me. I also requested a credit on my bill for not having trash being picked up that week. All she said was that it would be picked up the following week. When I returned on July 29th, I called the customer service department to cancel my service citing my reason as poor customer service and cost. They stated that I would be charged for the removal of my cans and that I should put them on the curb.
My cans have been on the curb since July 29th and currently it's September 10th and no one has picked them up. I however did receive a bill for $77.63 for can removal. I called customer service when I received the invoice and stated that they would charge $30 per can for fuel charge. That's 2 cans at $30x2 = $60 so I am being billed for fuel charge. Mind you, the cans are still sitting in front of my house and are unsightly. I was told that I would receive a call back from a supervisor the following day. It's been 2 weeks, no call and still no can removal. As I sit here writing this, I look out my window and see numerous houses with their cans sitting at the curb.

This company has the WORST customer service imaginable. Last week, our trash was supposed to be picked up on Wednesday (our usual pickup is Tuesday, but because of Labor day it was delayed by a day). Our can has been out at the street since Monday evening. I emailed them on Thursday of last week to tell them the trash had not been picked up. I called on Friday and was first told that they would be coming on Monday, but finally got them to agree to pick it up on Saturday. Saturday comes and goes with another phone call made to them, and they tell me that it will be picked up on MONDAY.
I called them on Monday morning and they told me that it was going to be picked up THAT DAY. That afternoon, they still had not come and I called again, to find out that it was NEVER SCHEDULED! I called again this morning (TUESDAY) and was told they were coming, but it was going to be a two hour delay! There are many other waste removal companies that offer more services at better prices. Avoid this company at all costs!

I started out paying 38.00 a month. Now I am paying 98.00 a month. If you read your contract they can up price anytime. I have to call them every month to get them to empty the container. Most of the time they try to charge me for a extra dump. I got a quote from Trash Gurl from a month to month contract for 550.00 a month. I called my salesman. She would match price on a 36 mth contract that they can up monthly price at any time then you are stuck with a 36 mth contract. If you are in need of large containers know for a certainty that REPUBLIC will DEFINITELY be UNDEPENDABLE!!! THE FIRST CONTAINER CAME A HALF DAY LATE. THE 2nd container we had to wait 2 days with full bags everywhere continually calling and begging for an exchange container. The 3 container we are still waiting 5 days for a container exchange. They make promises they NEVER KEEP. So think it our carefully. If you have time to waste.... and need a lot of frustration... then this is the company for you.

They cannot remember to pick up my trash regularly. I am disabled so it is important that I do not have to move it back and forth when they fail to collect. I pass out from pain and unnecessary trips increase the chances of this occurring. Management continues to fail to address this.

She then stated she would take 30.00 off because I only had 1 container. I said, "How can you charge me a container removal rental fee? I never had that with A-Waste." She said that is what they charge. So now they are trying to make me pay a 30.00 fee that A-Waste never had. Not to mention all the other fees they were trying to make me pay before. Regular pickup was okay, missed a few times. They kept raising prices even though they were already more expensive than others. I got a notice of the last increase after the billing for that month, stating it was some government requirement. If so, the notice should have been months earlier. I canceled service. They quoted me the wrong amount over the phone of what my partial payment would be for the partial quarter. I paid it and then I was billed for a different amount with a late fee. Now I get another bill for container pickup with admin fees and environment fee.

I used Republic Service for over 10 years. The basic service was good. The only pickups that were missed were my fault or weather related. About 3 years ago my bill had a substantial increase. I called other vendors and was thinking about changing. When I called Republic Services, they agreed to drop the rate they were charging. Over the next 2 years, they increased the billing rate each year by $40. I checked with other vendors and their rates were $60 a year, lower. When I cancelled the service with Republic, I received a bill for $50 for them to pick up their garbage can. Their pick up was the normal garbage truck that was on their normal route.

Well on numerous times my trash and recycle has not been pick up. The last time which was 8/27/2019 or was missed again I called that day. The recorded voice asked me to leave number and would get called back. I heard nothing for 2 days so I call them again. After being on hold for at least 30 minutes then explaining to customer service lady she tells me it can't be picked up till the following week so I take it they just don't care about their customers one bit.

I originally contracted service with a company that was acquired by Republic Services. Part of the agreement was to supply the trash cans. When I cancelled my trash service, I received a bill for $87 for them to pick up their trash cans. Keep in mind, I NEVER agreed to pay them to pick up trash cans. They indicated the fact I continued using their service after acquisition that I agreed to their terms and conditions. I paid for the trash services they provided and short paid the charge to pick up trash cans. I wrote on the check that if they cash or deposit the check, they were accepting payment in full and waiving their claim for can pickup. They deposited the check. After multiple calls and conversations, they turned me into collections. When I asked the collections company for proof of the debt I owe, they have nothing but the invoice from Republic Services.

I served a mission camp that built wheelchair ramps for disabled kids, helped widows, helped single moms in May 2019 in the Maybank, TX area. We utilized Republic for a 30 yard dumpster for the week. Mainly because there were no other dumpster rental companies available. The dumpster was in bad condition. It was dented, it had gashes, and the release lever for the door was bashed in so much, we could not operate it to open the main door. A defective, damaged dumpster. OK. We just dealt with it. We paid our first bill, got it done. Then we got a second bill of $530 several weeks later. I called a customer service rep, and they said we shouldn't have gotten that, and did not have to pay it since we already paid the first time. Sounds good. Then, a month later, we get a warning past-due notice. I call again. They said a field rep would call us within 48 hours. They did not.
They had also indicated we were going to get charged more because it wasn't picked up until after June 1, even though I had clearly indicated to our customer service rep beforehand we would need it picked up before that. I called in June to ask why it had not been removed yet, and Republic considered that the actual removal call. Six weeks later, we get a threatening final notice email. I call again. Two of the customer service reps would soon hang up on me. One of them had said our account was settled and closed. No. No, it wasn't, apparently. The third was more helpful and understanding, and said they would flag our case properly and someone would get back to us in 24-48 hours. They did not do that again. When they tell you they will follow up, don't expect them to actually do it. Instead, expect them to turn it over to debt collectors to come after you and yours.
Finally, since I did not get a follow-up call once again, 4 days later, I called a customer service rep one more time, and she was able to clarify the situation better. Yes, we did owe the additional $530 and she was able to walk me through the rates and definitions, and indicate that her fellow employees had given me the wrong information. We agreed to settle up. A deal is a deal. Nearly a $1000 for a bashed up, defective dumpster to use for just one week to help widows, single moms and handicapped kids. Republic brags about the benevolence they do. I call BS on that. Because in our case, no good deed goes unpunished.

Republic has missed our Monday trash pick up many times over the last year. The most recent missed pick up being 8/26/19. I called to notify them that my trash had not been picked up on Tuesday 8/27/19 and was promised someone would be out Wednesday 8/28/19. Needless to say, my trash was not picked up so I called back and was told a Supervisor would call me on Thursday 8/29/19 and my trash would picked up before 6 pm. I did not receive a call and the trash is sitting at the curb stinking up the neighborhood and creating a health hazard. I called Republic to find out why nobody showed up and was told this complaint would be escalated for investigation. I was also told the trash pick up was scheduled for tomorrow's route.
I have never had such horrible service from a company! They have literally lied to me for almost a week regarding re-scheduling a trash pick up they originally missed! Most of my neighbors fired them and went with a different company almost a year ago. However, we stayed loyal and tried to give Republic a chance to improve. However, we have only been disheartened, frustrated and extremely disappointed! If I could rate Republic zero stars, I most certainly would.

I canceled service after obtaining a MUCH lower quote from a local trash company. My problem is not so much with the service when I was a customer, however they are more expensive. Rather, once I canceled service it was a brutal experience getting the bins picked up...I eventually had to load them into the back of my SUV and drop them off myself. I called their customer service line at least 10 times. Every time someone would say they were escalating the issue, or they would provide me with a date that the bins would be removed, but that day always came and went with the bins remaining. I probably spent over 3 hours of my time dealing with them over the phone.
I finally had enough and did their job for them...not to mention I still had to pay the removal fees. The $100 was worth paying for this to just go away. I didn't want to spend another 3 hours fighting them over $100 bucks. My advice, find a good local provider and save yourself the headache. I wish the CEO would see this and implement some change...although I know that will never happen. Amazing that companies can treat people so poorly and still remain in business. I guess this is what happens when you have monopolies out there with minimal competition.

Republic Services is one of the most unethical companies I have ever dealt with. We called them in mid May 2019 to discontinue our trash pickup service effective June 15. They sent a final bill of $141.36 also which included the entire month of August. We paid it since we had relocated to Florida. Now they sent another bill on August 13, 2019, for $32.67 to remove the waste container (which was included on a previous bill) plus an additional $10.67 for an environmental recovery fee even though there was no waste to pick up. I have never wrote a review, much less a negative one, for any business. But Republic Services has gone out of its way to gouge its customers. Please consider another trash removal service when you are in search of a provider. For me, Republic Services is garbage!

I switched to Republic Services garbage disposal from a previous provider in order to lower my monthly bills. Big mistake. Over 3 years my bill has doubled. When I wanted to add a recycle bin their computer "noticed" I was not being charged a fuel and environmental fee and tacked on another $49 to the quarterly bill without contacting me of the change. When I called them to say there must be a mistake I was told I should have been paying this all along (I would not have switched to them in the first place if that were the case). Checked with neighbors.... no one seems to have this fee either. When I get my final bill there is a $5 late fee which should not have been there and was told it was a computer error. I wonder how many people are paying that without needing to? Anyway... went back to previous provider Indiana Waste Service who does not charge the fuel and environmental fee and rates are still the same since I switched 3 years ago.

From November 2018 until May 2019 when I cancelled service Republic failed repeatedly to provide the weekly service I paid for. I called customer service constantly but mostly to no effect with pickup not occurring sometimes for well over a month. They are now threatening me with collection agencies for nearly $70 for them to pick up their bins. I will pay this when they refund the money I paid for the weekly service they failed to provide. This has got to be the worst confused rip off of a company. They made me pre-pay for services which included dropping off a 40 yard container and dumping the trash and bringing back the same container for us to fill up again at my parents' residence. When they brought back the container (mind you I called to make sure they don't park it too close to the garage door & was assured they wouldn't) they parked it too close to the garage and we were not able to open the door so it threw our project back several days. I had to call 6 times for them to come and move it back a bit so we could open the container door all the way. I was aware of a $6 rental fee per day but the containers were all PRE-PAID.
Once I called for the final pick up I was not told I would be paying anything extra. Then in the mail I was sent a bill for $1477.38! The bill made no sense since what was listed on there was ALREADY PAID FOR, and they were charging a rental fee for the whole month of August when they had already picked up the container on 8/6/19.
I called and spoke to an account manager and she stated she will credit my account for the days I was being charged (the future) that I did not have the container. I called on the due date of the bogus bill to make sure everything was figured out and they still had the same amount due and ANOTHER BILL FOR SEPTEMBER. They sure do love charging for the future! I made an account online to see what was going on and saw they had added a bill for $742.55 for the upcoming month of September which I was not using. None of these made up fees were discussed with me when I initially set up my account, I pre-paid for everything. I WILL NEVER EVER USE THIS SERVICE AGAIN!!!! I will be reporting them to BBB!

We have always paid our bill on time, and they have repeatedly missed picking up our trash. No reason has ever been given. You have to call the main office and then they take a message and have to get in contact with your local office. They have never come back out the same day to remove the trash they forgot to pick up. They will not credit your bill or offer any kind of compensation. Most of the time, we have had to call more than once for a rescheduled pick up. Avoid if you can!!

If I could give this company a negative stars I would. We have had the WORST time with them on customer service and payments. I use automatic payments for everything and have no problem. This company for some reason it is always rejected. Republic blamed my bank and my bank said they never received anything. It happened a couple of times so we finally just canceled. Never received an e-mail saying it was rejected just one with additional payments. Then having them come to pick up the receptacle was a HASSLE and had to call them AGAIN to get it done. Thought I was done, but a month later I got another bill from them because even giving them a card over the phone doesn't work for them. The manager didn't care about any issues and wouldn't give on any of the amount even with all the issues. There are MUCH better places to use!

I moved years ago and notified Republic Services I was transferring Service to my new home. I asked if the container would go with me. They said no that they would pick up. 5 years later I sold my next home and called 3 months in a row to cancel service and discuss picking up container. Just got billed 6 months after 1st call and am now being billed for BOTH HOMES CONTAINER PICKUPS!! TO THE TUNE OF $83.00! NOT HAPPY. FEEL ROBBED.

They couldn't care less about your business after 15 years of doing business with them. Some woman calls and jacks your rates around and treats you like crap wanting to rob you for simple trash pickup more than double the price. So I found someone who is happy to have the business at a fair price with trash cans. My advice shop around. Even with the account closed and paid up they want to charge 35$ for nothing. Mind you the account is paid up and closed when I called about the nasty call I received. The girl said I was paid up and closed yet they threaten collections for 35 & they say I don't owe. Unbelievable.

Always skipping pickup. Broke container and won't replace. Credit balance refuse to return to me. Won't allow me to cancel service without paying $30 fee to pickup container which was never part of agreement. Hired different company that Republic bought out and there were no terms. When pickup missed (consistently) I am required to notify same day, leave container on street, and call if still not picked up. If don't call 2 days after scheduled pick up they refuse to acknowledge. Over 30min on phone every call. Container sits on street average 4 days/week due to their no show. If pay one minute late billed late fee. Not compensated $0.01 if they pick up late or skip altogether.

Republic Services does not seem to care about road safety or potential road accidents. Their value system does not seem to prevent or own road hazards and accidents. One of their debris trucks (grey box attached to a semi) was speeding up ahead trying to pass another truck and I was far behind watching this happen. In the meantime, this truck had trash flying all over the freeway out of it and then a giant rock came flying and hit my windshield damaging it. I called Republic Services and filed this with them on Aug 2 with the truck going to the Martinez landfill, they said they would reach out to me. Never heard back, so I followed up and the supervisor for the Martinez Republic Service landfill let me know she can't do anything, this a typical road hazard. This boggles my mind because road safety is extremely important. Taking ownership of damages and accidents, potential injuries/deaths your company causes on the road is extremely important.
Just hand waving such big fatal near miss which first could have easily preventable and then second could have been resolved by acknowledging their recklessness and willingness to resolve it. None of this happened, it's quite sad to know companies don't care about road safety and the impact they have to others on the road and impact they have on serious harm they have to others on the road. Accident prevention is very crucial.

Don't bother signing a contract with Republic Services because they will not honor it. I signed a 3 year contract with them and in the second year they just raised my rate way past the contracted rate and will not change it to the right rate. They will not return your call. They will not return your email. They will tell you they will follow up but they won't.

Probably the most hideous and obnoxious company to deal with and answer very few questions when asked. Great at talking in circles. Either the employees are poorly coached or they just don't care. Raise rates constantly and quietly, cut service wherever possible, and threaten liens continuously. And have STRANGLE HOLDS on certain cities for contracts. Must slip money to politicians easily and readily. If we could, they should be forced out of business or retreat to their home turf of Arizona. Don't need or want them anywhere else.

Republic services is by far one of the most if not the most shady company who takes your money and not your trash as they continue to jack the bill up year after year! I paid them 211$ and I'm stuck here with a garage full of trash and maggots! I would not recommend this company to my worst enemy!

They were a good company a few years ago, I don't know what happened. Nearly my whole neighborhood used to use them. First they were late on pick ups, then they were missing pick ups, eventually I was calling every week begging them to do their job. Trash piling up week to week became a regular challenge. They also lock you in to a contract, which I since discovered their local competitors do not. So after I ran out the contract and ended service with them, they tried to bill me to come pick up the cans, which would've been fine if they'd been doing their job all along. So the last bit of joy you will have with these guys is their phone reps will talk down to you, tell you they do not have the power to adjust a bill, that they do not have supervisors who would have that ability. So whether you are in a contract or not they will charge you cancellation fees.
My new company is a local company. They show up everyday, nice and amenable, zero headaches. Republic Services is national, my experience is in Massachusetts. Maybe they're just too big to handle the job they've taken on and treat their customers respectfully. Their social media may make it look like they are great people saving the planet, but you really should look elsewhere for curbside pickup.

Actual trash pickup was okay but so much more expensive than the competition. The best price they could offer was $11 a month more than I ended up paying. This is obviously a very big company with that unfortunate mentality of charging a fee for everything... What I found really outrageous was the substantial fees they charge both for bringing the containers and then again for picking up after I canceled the service! Yes and if you don't return it they'll charge an even larger fee. I don't blame the poor people that have to work for them as companies like this don't usually treat their employees very well but I now know better than to use or recommend the service to anyone ever again.

I have been lied to on numerous occasions. I first reported that the bottom of our 2 yard waste container was rusted out and the container needed exchanged and was told that it was scheduled for the following week. Next week goes by and nothing, I called back and they reschedule it. This has gone on now for over a month and a half and I still don't have the replacement!!! This morning I called customer service and was told it was scheduled for today. I told her I'm sorry I'm frustrated but I've been told that before and she said she understands and promises it is scheduled for today.
I tell her that since this has been going on for over a month and we pay over $200 a month and it hasn't been resolved that I would like to speak to the billing department regarding a credit. So she transfers me and I explain the previous conversation and that yes she says it is scheduled for today but I'm still upset it took this long and the guy said that she lied. That the replacement was cancelled again and that it wasn't scheduled for today and that he promises to get it all taken care of and that he would have his manager talk to the previous lady that LIED to me. I'm sooo pissed right now!!
