We have a contract in our township for curbside pickup of recycles every other week. The company has now missed pickups for 10 weeks. No response to township. First excuse was no workers available. Full staff for 3 weeks but still no service.

Worst company ever! I am seriously considering firing them and taking the garbage to the dump myself. Driver refused to dump my cans because one bag of trash was propping the lid up 1/3 of the way up. He had time to park his truck, write a note to leave on the can, take a picture, and have his boss email me, but he couldn't just throw this one bag of trash he was so worried about into the trash truck. I called and complained about this and Republic said they would come back the next day, they never showed up. The trash cans are still sitting there full.
Nowhere is it written on Republic's website or anywhere about these "trash rules". I have had the trash holding the lid up before and it was never an issue. This is not the only issue I have had with them either. A few months back their driver had anger issues and threw my cans in his trash truck and left with them. I had to call Republic and they brought out new cans a few days later.

Got service in October 2020. No problems just missed pick ups because due to being newly added to route. Had several missed pick ups. Then pick ups was regular. Spring came miss pickups. Driver Scott excuse to Supervisor Tony was concerns of getting stuck on turn around. Never got stuck or even a imprint of sinking down. Tony asked if I would have gravel placed down to ensure the driver's mind. However I told Tony that if I paid to have gravel placed REPUBLIC SERVICES would have to reimburse me. A week later increase in charges. However not one missed pickup.
Week of 4th July, missed pickup. Called Customer Support, stated no delays in my pick. Scheduled for pickup Monday. A Budget moving truck pulls in and driver stated to me that the regular driver is not coming to get trash when it rains. Pull out the back of truck dirty bins. I called REPUBLIC SERVICES to report the unprofessional manner with a Budget moving truck with no REPUBLIC SERVICES logo. Tony response with a call today on the escalated complaints. He threatened to bill me over $800 if his driver gets stuck. Tony also stated for me to cancel and take my own trash to landfill.
I pay for services that a driver for company is dictating when my trash and recycling can be picked up with no previous issues on his continued claim. Turn around point in solid ground. Stressed, now have been threatened over this. REPUBLIC SERVICES has a contract with the county. Other companies should be allowed to pickup residents' Trash and Recycling. However that was part of the threat.

I have to say that I am pleasantly surprised by the resolution to this situation. I was contacted by a local representative who was empathetic and professional. My bill has been resolved, and other arrangements were made to improve my account and service as well. I could not be happier with this outcome. It would be nice if the company would try to implement some proactive steps to avoid these issues all together, but I am relieved with the results I have received, and grateful for the manager who contacted me.

I have had trash pick up service for years, suddenly I received a post card from Republic Services that they were taking over for our current company. The card instructed that account holders pay their next bill as usual, then set up an account through Republic Services using the billing information they would be sending. I never received any other communication from Republic Services, paid my bill as instructed to my original company on 6/10/2021. After 4th of July holiday, I contacted Republic Services to establish my new account because I had not yet received additional information from them. It is then that I realize they were showing a past due balance that was about to be sent to collections. The next bill was also posted and due July 16, 2021. I attempted to contact them 4 times by phone and at least 3 times by email through the customer service portal. I detailed my situation in the first email and received 2 emails stating the balance due and to call their office.
Immediately after that I received an email titled "final demand" stating I had 10 days to resolve the past due balance before it was sent to collections. This is when I made 2 attempts to reach them by phone, with hold times of 15 min 34 sec and 26 min 40 sec never reaching a representative. I attempted again the next business day (today, Monday 7/12) and the first call was disconnected because the recorded line said their offices were closed. This was after 8AM and their hours are listed 7:30-5:30 Monday-Friday all time zones. 2 second attempt resulted in a 22 min 48 sec hold. I was given the option to receive a call back, so I requested that.
When I answered their callback, the representative simply said "did you call?" That threw me off, not professional at all. Then I explained my situation and he said "how can I help?" Granted that was not rude, but it was oblivious. I said, "Well I didn't have your services prior to this month, but you are showing an over due balance." He said, "Yes, your total is xyz." I said, "I understand that, but that is not possible. I paid my bill as instructed to the other company, then took it upon myself to establish the account with your company." He said, "Well I don't know what you owed them so I can't help you, you need to contact them and ask what they did with that payment." I said, "If you add the amount I am telling you I sent them to the current invoice due 7/16, it is the exact amount you show for my account."
I can certainly make that call, and did in fact - only to have to leave a message! but that is a different piece of the puzzle. I have proof the check was cashed, I had my bank send it through their bill pay as I have done for years. I do see that it was stamped differently on the back than all previous checks, so I am hoping it was sent to an account for Republic Services on behalf of my account and will catch up with Republic Finance. In the meantime, having uninformed representatives who are:
1. not recognizing/sympathetic to the unique situation directly as a result of a company business venture unrelated to the customers2. making statements to the effect 'this your bill, you need to figure it out'
3. threat of collections is not putting a very good taste in my mouth for future service needs.

Whatever you do, do not enter into a contract with these people!!! They will constantly increase your bill. They will nickel and dime you to death. When they adjust your bill after you complain, that will also restart your agreement, but they don’t tell you that. You will never get out from under them.

My city (Alhambra, CA) now requires us to deal with Republic directly for payment and all questions/issues and I am currently on hold on the phone for 1.5 hours! What a waste of time - who knows if anyone will ever pickup! All I need is a simple bulk pick up for 1 item and website/chat is useless for that. This is what happens when a company knows the customer has no choice to go elsewhere.

Republic Services has a monopoly on the area, so as a customer we really have no choice. This pill is hard to swallow when you get treated like crap. My can consistently gets left in the middle of the road. Their building a notification is never done in a timely manner. I received a notification of service termination on a Friday afternoon before a holiday weekend. They then terminated the service before I even had time to call anyone. And after spending over an hour and a half on two days on the phone, I finally got a hold of a human being. They however told me I couldn't do anything except pay in full immediately. If you're going to have a strong hold on the business in an area, maybe you can at least try to run it like a civil organization.

I've had Republic Services for several years with no issues, all of a sudden when I have an issue does it become apparent that you can NOT reach a person (it's like calling the IRS). They have always picked up my trash except now they don't want to pick it up unless it's in their container versus my own container, which is fine but the trash is full and they didn't communicate this with me until three weeks of my trash not getting picked up and me reporting online missed pick ups as again you can't reach anyone via phone. I don't like the way they handled this and had they picked it up like they always had and just said they can't do it again I wouldn't be so irritated and then again when you need to speak to someone well you can, you just can't. Online you can suspend your services but not stop it so this is also irritating so now I have to try and reach someone. Will NEVER USE THIS COMPANY AGAIN. EVER.

I wish I could select a ZERO!! This company is PATHETIC. MANY missed pickups, Every time reported and still left at the end of my driveway for weeks. Funny, if I look on my services log: They have them marked as completed??? You can paint a turd but in the end you have a turd. Many times escalated to a "Manager". Guess what, never received contact from them and garbage and/or recycling left to sit at the end of my driveway. Oh and I found a local hauler that my neighbors have been using for about a year with great service and signed up with them for 1/3 of the quarterly price!!!!

Having lived in multiple states with 40 years of garbage collection, I’ve never had poorer service. Republic is the worst. Every few months they don’t pick up my trash. You call and are promised you’re on the schedule for the next day. No pick up. You call next day and are promised again. No pick up. You call and are told a supervisor will call you. No call. You call and wait to speak to supervisor. You’re promised next day service. Your garbage is piling in the garage. No pick up. By then it’s the next week’s pick up. They tell you to put the extra trash next to the can. They empty can and leave extra trash accumulated because they skipped a week. They don’t reimburse you or make up for it. Never an apology. Absolute useless company. If you have a choice, which I do not, don’t use them.

The only trash service available in my city so they naturally take advantage of the clientele. Over a month ago they informed us they would be exchanging the trash cans that day, never came. Then without notice, during the day, picked up all the trash cans on our block. No one knew what was going on at first, however, one neighbor informed us Republic finally came to exchange the cans. However, instead of replacing they just took them. Several phone calls later they informed us the replacement cans would be back the next day by 4PM. It is now 7PM on the day the trash cans were to be replaced and no cans. A call indicates they are closed. It is a holiday weekend.
We expect credit for the 4 days we will not have trash cans but being a monopoly in our area, have no interest in customer service, we don't expect them to do the ethical thing. Trash cans & pick up is an essential service that should be performed by those interested in contributing to the community, have a desire to do a good job, have a sense of integrity and pride in their job instead of taking advantage of their clients and pocketing money; unfortunately, for the city of Alhambra, republic is a crappy organization that embodies the later traits listed. Pathetic at best.

My trash has not been picked up in weeks. My family has trash collection biweekly. My garbage was due to be picked up on June 17th and was never picked up. After reaching out to the company various times, this company's employees have given me multiple different days that it would be picked up and it is still sitting out in the bins today, July 1st. The garbage was due to come again today and one of your associates promised that the trash in the bins would be collected today and then I would get another trash pickup this coming Monday, July 5th to pick up the garbage that should have gone today.
It is summer, the days are hot, and the trash has been in the bins for over 2 weeks now and now my basement is filled with more trash because I couldn't put it out today. It is smelling up my front yard and I worry that the neighbors are going to begin complaining because of the stench. I have over a month's worth of garbage in the bins and in my home because of this company's irresponsibility and lies. I need trash pick up NOW!!

I started service on 6/1/2021. It is very expensive... 69/mo. I paid the $50 container fee. Was promised my container by the following Friday. That didn't happen. I called and asked when to expect it, they said tomorrow... Same thing happened 4 times... Still no container. Container finally arrived late in the day, after pickup already happened on my street, 6/14/2021. My next pick up was 6/21/21. The driver pulled halfway down the street. Got one container at the end and didn't get mine or 2 -3 others on that part of the street.
I called to report, they said they'd be back out the next day to pickup, didn't come for 3 more days. But I did get my bill, that was right on time. On 6/28/21 my scheduled pick up day, the driver comes at 4am! But he did get my container which was great. I called to see about getting a credit for the missed pickup on the 14th and the rep argued that it wasn't missed. I said, "Ma'am I didn't even have my container yet, how could it have been picked up?" After putting me on hold 4 times she hung up on me, with no resolution to my issue. After I calmed down and found another provider in the area, I called to cancel my service and guess what? I get to pay them to come pick up the container... $36.50. But I am glad the nightmare will be over on June 30. Good riddance to TERRIBLE SERVICE in every department.

If you can avoid using this company, AVOID THEM! We had a missed pickup for our recycling on Wednesday, 6/23. I have called every day since then to ask for them to come back to fix the issue. I have been assured every time I called that they will send a truck over to pick up the recycling, and they still have not come (6/29). The representatives I speak with are not knowledgeable, seem to have no way to contact dispatch, and have no desire to fix the issue. Many of the times I called and was told that it was "escalated" don't show up the next day in their records. No one does anything at this company! Our city recently decided to use Republic Services as the sole trash and recycling pickup, so I unfortunately cannot cancel my service. But I would do so if I had other options.

In the last year, Republic has frequently cancelled or reschedule our trash collection. In the last month, collection has been cancelled or rescheduled 4 times. Uncollected recycle material has been sitting uncollected for over one month. Calls to the company are routed to their national office instead of the local office responsible for the actual service. While always polite, the reps are incapable of resolving any issue, and call-backs from someone who might resolve them are never received. I am not interested in the reason for this incompetence. I want the services I'm paying for.

Our pickup day is Wednesdays. This past Wednesday our recycling got picked up but not our trash. Called. First person didn't know why. Then said he didn't know we were overcharged either when I asked about that too. He put me on hold to see why I was overcharged but instead it went to another person! This person tried to explain to me about all these extra fees! What?! Anyway, I asked about the Missed pickup and she day to leave it out they will go Thursday because they said there was a one day delay. This didn't make any sense since our recycling was picked up but not the trash. I wasn't notified nor told why. Thursday came. No pickup! Called Friday. Was told it was pushed to Friday but then again pushed to Monday!!!! WTF?!!! Wasn't notified either! Supposedly escalated to an area supervisor or something like that so my trash can get picked up but never got picked up!
I'm beyond pissed now! They sure are quick to want their money but couldn't care less about providing services that are paid for! So now... Missed Missed Missed Missed pickup is where we're at!! Bet they will read this then tell me to contact them which is what I did do already several times!! So I don't know what difference it will make since here we are Monday and pickup is Wednesday! Ridiculous!

Republic Services customer service is the absolutely the worst I have ever seen. I have called numerous times and each and every time I have waited on hold over 45 minutes. Once in a blue moon, they will let you leave your phone number and they might call you back. One time they called back and then hung up on me, so I had to start the service all over again. They are the worst.

IF THIS IS REPUBLIC SVS. THAT PROVIDES TRASH/RECYCLE FOR PALM BAY, FL. they are not responsive to requests, over and over, to pick up unused/unwanted trash cans/containers that we mark with signs and put on curbsides. Londonderry Cir and Tuttle have "turn in" containers sitting there for months!! Get them out of here before hurricane season, Republic!

My husband and I pay $215 for trash/recycle pickup. May 24-June 1, they missed trash pickup along with recyclables. I called three times, and cannot get in touch with the manager despite my efforts. It took these three phone calls for them to remember to pick up my trash, recyclables took even longer. If you want to pay for a service that you will not receive, then I recommend Republic Services. I would love to change this review, however I’m leaving this in hopes of receiving some sort of compensation.

1. They charge exorbitant bin delivery and removal fees (eg. $60 to remove our bins), which they did not disclose to us and when I reviewed all paperwork links they referenced still did not see fee amounts. (2) They regularly skip pickups, (3) I ordered bulk removal and still have all of those items piled in front of my house because they ever came. Absolutely the worst possible service in terms of trying to get in contact with them as well as the "service" itself.

After 21 years as a customer, without notice or warning, Republic suddenly terminated service in our area. I paid each quarter in advance by automatic fund transfer. At the termination date I still had prepaid over another 2 months in advance. After several very long calls I was told that I would receive a refund within 6 weeks. After another long call 7 weeks later, I was told that the refund process had not been initiated and that it would take another 8 weeks. This must be happening to many other former customers. Dishonest and deceptive.

They did not mention a $47 delivery fee PER container. When I saw this on my first bill and decided to cancel, there was an additional $30 removal fee! I paid well over $150 for 1 garbage pick-up! Stay away!

I have had service with them for only a few months. In this time I have had to call customer service 8 times. The first call to start services went well. I was told they would bring me a can in a couple days. I specifically asked when I would get it because the previous owners left a lot of trash. So I wait 3 days just in case. I call customer service. She says they haven't been my way yet but it will be there before garbage day. The day before garbage day I call again. I was told I would have it by 5:30. Garbage day comes, no garbage can still. I call again, I am told it was scheduled to be dropped off by 5:30. I call again. I am told you all have a week to bring the can. After attitude, as if she had to bring it, she agrees to put in an order to get a can dropped off.
Two weeks after I started services I am finally able to use my waste removal services. Everything is fine until my son was placed in ICU. I forgot to pay the bill. So when I realized it I paid the bill including a reconnect fee. This was on a Monday. I sat my can out that Thursday. It was still full. So I called customer service. She says it went through as paid but maybe the driver didn't see it before he left for his route. So she said she would put it in for a missed pickup buy they may not get it until Friday.
I left it out Friday, no one came. I called Friday around noon, again she was rude. She said the driver has until 5:30 to pick it up. Memorial day was Monday so I call Tuesday. I immediately ask for a supervisor. She agrees but asks to know what it is about so she knows what supervisor to send me to. I tell her all this. She is very apologetic about my situation and explains that she would like to help but she feels a supervisor would be able to help more than her.
She puts me on hold and contacts a supervisor. The supervisor asks how she can help. I have to explain the situation again. When I am done she says she will place an order for a missed pickup. I explained that that's what I have been told for 4 days now. She says that is all she can do. So I told her I wasn't going to get off the phone until she could tell me exactly when it will be picked up. She said I would be talking to myself because she wasn't staying on the phone. I am not sure how this company can charge for services for 2 weeks without providing services. Customer service is a joke.

We have called numerous times and they still haven't shown up. Completely overflowing. And when they do finally show up they leave the trash around the dumpster. Do NOT use them. They also do not have a section to leave a review on their website AND don't let you use a web browser they can't track. The worst ever. I wish I could upload the pictures.

I had the worst experience today with customer service. I spoke to five reps and none of them knew how to handle my call. The worst was Juan when trying to explain my conversation with the previous rep. He rudely said, "You are talking to me now," notated the account and just told me what I need to do rushing the conversation to get rid of me. Unfortunately I'll call back to order more service but I will not talk to this rep ever again.

I called them to cancel my service but they don't let me cancel, I asked customer service on the phone but they said they don't know. After multiple attempt, they make me write a certified letter to mail it in. I did, they received it. Then they email me & said that I have to sign the paper to get charge $50 for remove the container. Which should be no charge since they already charge me $200 to deliver when I signed the contract 4 years ago. They told me that there is no other choice. I went ahead and agree to pay $50, but they sneak in the contract to renew without any notice & now they told me if I can't cancel it. Every time, I called the main number, the customer service always say they put in a case & call me but no one call me.

I tried calling 3x to cancel my services and the customer rep said they will ask the account manager (Xaviar ** at Western Way, Jacksonville FL) but he did not called back after the 4th day. He said he was on vacation! Ok so nobody can cancel their services when the account manager or rep is on vacation...! Secondly I sent in the official letter to cancel. He received the letter but he said it needs to be CERTIFIED LETTER and the reason he said was that it needs be acknowledgement of them receiving the letter. He already received the letter in the first place and with many emails correspondence he still insist of certified letter!
They are trying to delay the cancellation date so that they can charged me for more pick up. What a horrible company policies and very bad account rep! Never ever go to this company for your trash services. And oh they required 3 years of contract. They never mentioned that when you sign the contract! Very angry and dissatisfied customer.

They do have very kind customer service reps. That’s it. Service is terrible and I’m constantly calling so I can get my garbage picked up because they didn’t pick it up. No reason for it either besides “unforeseen circumstances” that I wouldn’t have even got that much info if I hadn’t called. Today is Tuesday and now they’re saying it won’t be picked up until Thursday. This comes after they just raised my rate. Do not use this company.

This company has the worst billing department. If their trash pick up services and their monthly cost weren't so good, we would leave in a minute. Plan to call EVERY quarter regarding incorrect charges that aren't on your contract.

Republic Services missed our pick up last Tuesday.. I called Wednesday and was told a pick up on Thursday would be made. Thursday came and no pick up. Called Friday, was told this was being escalated and was confirmed a pick up by end of day. No pick up. Called again today (Monday) and had another pointless conversation. May as well not have phone representatives since there is no truth in the messaging. Completely unprofessional and poor service. Will be moving my service as Republic Services are not dependable.

I live in a mobile home park so I don't pay for the service directly but that doesn't mean they should be permitted to do what they do. When they pick up the containers to empty them the truck doesn't even stop, I come home to find my can in the middle of my yard instead of where I place it. When they put the containers back down they place them in the middle of the street so cars knock them over driving through the park. I have lived here for 9 months and on no less than 3 occasions they have damaged my driveway markers. For the first 3 months we lived here the can wasn't even fully emptied so it took longer to get rid of the garbage from moving. Judging by the other reviews this company isn't just a problem in the upper Midwest. Maybe THEY should be on Undercover Boss!

We moved to a new home at the end of February this year. Republic Services took almost 2 months to officially set up services for our home address. I literally had to call almost every day to follow up myself because anytime a rep told me they would personally follow up with me, no one ever called back. I was sent an invoice for services starting on the day we moved into the home. I told them I don't think it's fair to charge me for services that were not yet set up. The manager or supervisor that I spoke with said they would make sure they credited me appropriately and they would also investigate all my previous calls and see where the ball was dropped in this whole process. He also told me to disregard the invoice since I would be credited. I felt good after that call. But today, I called again to make sure there was a credit in my account, and sure enough, nope...the balance is still there.
So here I go again...I guess I'll have to call daily until this is fixed. Another issue that I've had is with their online system. They make it almost impossible to update the email address they have for you on file. It is NOT user friendly at all. I was on the phone with a rep today for almost 45 min trying to get it all resolved and we could not get it done. She said she would have to get tech services involved and that I should get a call back from her or someone else. Let's see if it actually happens. I have spent so much of my time just trying to resolve issues on the phone with Republic Services. It's so frustrating! I wish there was another Waste Management company here in Elk Grove, CA that we could switch to.

After 10 years. I had to cancel trash pick up service due to HOA limiting trash pick up service to Republic's competitor. Republic is charging me a $50 per container removal fee ($100 total for trash and recycle) plus they are charging for environmental fee and taxes. My total bill just to cancel service is over $153 (This amount is only for stopping service, all prior service charges have been paid). This is unreasonable and unacceptable. I plan to discuss this with the State Attorney General's office so Republic's unethical practice can be stopped.

A dumpster was placed on my property without my permission. It has torn up my grass, caused my tree limbs to break (when serviced), among other property damages. I have been calling for over a month asking for the dumpster to be removed and it has yet to be done. My local Republic Services does not answer phones or return my calls including the supervisor. I have called the main numbers and each time they tell me it will be moved. It has yet to be moved off of my property. As damage to my property continues to happen. If unresolved soon I will have no choice, but to sue the company for failure to remove the dumpster and place it on the correct address of their client, the damages to my property and my attorney fees. I am extremely disappointed with the lack of action taken to correct this problem and that this dumpster has been dropped off, continually serviced, and left to remain and cause damage to my property.

They missed the pick-up of the Recycling container on Feb 20th on the odd number houses on my street. It was the first time. I let it go. The following Saturday the same thing happened again. Because it was the weekend, I have to call next Monday to schedule a pickup on Tuesday which they did. I asked them what was the problem that they missed the whole one side of the street 2 times in a roll. The answer was there weren't any issues. It worked fine after that until last Saturday the same thing happened again and so was yesterday (Apr. 4th). This is ridiculous and unacceptable. I am very frustrated and feel helpless.

Several occasions trash was not picked or ran days late on a regular. Bill went up. When you call they always say they will work with to lower bill. That's after having to wait on hold for up to and over an hour. Once you do cancel there's a fairly large fee to remove can.

I would give them zero if I could. Everything they said they would do they broke promises. They promised a time to switch the dumpster and they showed up early to move a half-full box (the driver said he could leave or take the half-full box, either way I have to pay). At the final removal day, again they showed up one day earlier (guys have not completed filling the box), the driver Arturo ** promised to come back with an empty box as a "favor" as we only have half box left due to they took the half-full away the previous day. 4 hours later he came back, jerk around, what he said earlier didn't really matter!
Finally I called to complain and was transferred to a "Customer Relationship Manager" Matthew... the worst experience. He literally argued with me and lectured me about their Corporate Rules. So these are all my fault (I should have called earlier, I should have done this and that...)? Enough frustration already when you have a home project, this company is a fraud!

I called in multiple times already about a matter which should never have happened. The driver left the Dumpster in the driveway of the supermarket next door. This not only blocked their driveway but cause them to have to move the dumpster for us back to the original spot. After doing so the manager came over to our shop and made a complaint to us. This has happened multiple times and we have been a customer of Republic Services for years, I've tried filing a complaint through the phone but to no avail. The driver continues to leave the dumpster in the driveway. I must say that the driver is extremely lazy and incompetent for he doesn't have the professionalism to place the dumpster where it came from and should belong. Can you please tell me what I am to do so that the driver can stop causing trouble for us? Much appreciated.

After I complained to the city, the city acted quickly and notified Republic. A sales manager from Republic contacted me personally and was as concerned about how our case was handled. Republic offered to pick up our items at no extra charge. They also agreed that our case was handled poorly and ensured us that they would be using this as example to better train their staff. I'm all about second chances so I have upgraded my star-rating to 4 taking 1 point off for my initial experience. People are allowed to make mistakes, but it's how you handle it that matters. They absolutely addressed and it made it right.

I have a signed contract for a 20 yard dumpster booked 3 weeks in advance. I wanted to confirm where they were going to place the dumpster because my Dad has a gate that partially blocks his driveway. So I called 3 days before scheduled delivery to discuss placement. I was told the dumpster I have a signed contract AND a paid deposit for was in fact NOT CONFIRMED. Seems 20 yard dumpsters were sold out through March 31. The only dumpster available was a 30 yard dumpster for an additional fee of $69. He asked if I had received the updated paperwork, which of course I had not. Otherwise this conversation would have taken place well before my call 3 days in advance.
I didn't feel like I should pay the extra fee since it was not my error. They said I had no choice as they "own the franchise rights to dumpsters in Bedford, Texas." Further, because they did not send the updated paperwork for me to sign, no dumpster reservation was attached to my address. So I'd wake up Friday morning to no dumpster in my Dad's driveway. Mind you, they have our $325 deposit AND a signed contract. What's the good of a signed contract if they don't honor it? When was I supposed to find out about this? No one called, no paperwork was sent.
Hey Bedford Texas city manager, find a new dumpster company. Just because you own the rights to a contract with the city does not give you the excuse to have such poor standards in customer service. Contracts are cancelled all the time. There are more dumpster companies in the area that would gladly handle their business.

Was a customer for just over 5 years. During that time I called their office at minimum once a month for a missed pickup. The agents are generally courteous on the phone but notorious for giving false information. I cannot tell you how many times I was told the trash would be picked up the following day only to find out it wouldn’t be. In late 2020 I received a letter telling me my rates would increase if I continued to require twice a week pickup. I wasn’t told however how much the increase would be. In January I found out it was increasing from $85/quarter to $211/quarter. I then had a two week stretch of time where I called 6 times regarding missed pickup. I found a different provider at the end of February. Their communication is just terrible and their service is nowhere near in line with the cost.

Their garbage truck had hydraulic issues and leaked all over the bottom of my driveway. When I politely called and told them, first they denied responsibility until I told them my security cameras caught everything. Then they promised to be out to clean up, but never came. They have a legal and social responsibility to clean up their hazardous oil leak. I'll be contacting the county SWPPP department to file a complaint. Just wish they would have done the right thing. I know they know better.

I contracted with Republic Services for residential garbage collection after the previous provider became too expensive. Republic was very good about picking up on schedule and would notify me of any schedule changes for holidays or bad weather. The service rates gradually increased, which is expected, but after two years I saw increases similar to the previous provider and began looking for a less expensive service. I put out less than average garbage, one container put on the street every two or three weeks, so am loathe to pay too much. A negative aspect with Republic and the other nationwide providers are the numerous fees: environmental, fuel, recovery, and the one I am complaining about: "administrative", which would be acceptable if it was visible and listed on the bill.
I found a local service that stated outright the quarterly collection charges with no additional fees of any kind. Finally, I called Republic nearly two weeks before the next billing cycle to cancel the service. The representative was very considerate and offered me a lower rate if I would stay with Republic. However, even then, the new provider I had found had a lower price. After understanding the cancellation was final, the representative assured me I had called well before the next cycle and I would receive no further bills.
To my chagrin, I got a bill from Republic the following month, showing a "past due" amount of $5.73. This was contrary to what I had been told before. I called Republic Services and was connected to a very polite and (I don't mean this negatively) smooth-talking young woman, who pulled up my bill (which showed on 02/15/21 full charges of $99.98 were "past due"), saying that $94.25 had been deducted, leaving only a small charge of $5.73. Very persuasively, she explained that most of the charges were cancelled (implying I should just accept the small $5.73 charge). I said I had been told by the previous representative, when I had called to cancel, that I would receive no further bills.
I wanted to know what the charge was for and she said it was an "administrative charge" and these fees were retroactive to the previous billing cycle. I said "what?" She explained that administrative fees were always charged in the cycle after they are incurred. This sounded absurd, especially since I had grilled the representative on the previous call about any possibility of receiving additional bills and he had assured me that after that call ended, we were done, and I would hear nothing else from Republic Services. In my opinion, this is a dishonest and possibly fraudulent practice. Consumers, beware.

Background: moved to a residential home in the country last March with a 1yr lease, started trash service with a little dumpster as the house is 100+yds from the highway, with a half-mile dirt driveway that goes up and down a hill, so rolling the can to the curb was not an option. In Nov, my wife was transferred to a job out of state. I called to cancel service in Dec once the house was cleaned out, and was told the call center couldn’t do it, someone would have to call me back. No call back. I called back a week later, was told the account was closed but local office needed to call me to come get the dumpster off the property. No call back. I paid the Dec bill in Jan, and thought I was done. I never received any other bills.
Beginning of Feb, I get a robo-call saying I had an outstanding balance of $7. I paid that and called them to find out what was going on and they said that a credit had been applied to the Jan bill but there was still $7 outstanding and that the account had not been closed (landlord confirmed the dumpster was still on the property). Appears the contract was written up as a commercial account even tho it’s residential because it was a “dumpster” and that it was written up as a 3yr commercial contract so the local office has to cancel it, they can’t do it thru customer service on the phone.
They say the cost to break the contract is usually 6mo of payments because it’s a commercial contract, but again they can’t do anything with it, since it’s a commercial account. They say the notes in my file show the local guy had left numerous voicemails about it. I have received 0 call backs 0 voicemails. The agent reads the number they’ve been calling and it was the wrong #. Like my # is 1234, they were calling 1235. They said they would give local guy the correct number. This was on Feb 4, still no call backs.
In order to get to the dumpster, the truck has to drive through a restaurant’s parking lot to get to the property because their truck is unable to drive down the driveway, so they put the dumpster on the edge of the neighboring property. The restaurant owners aren’t happy that they are still driving thru their lot to get to an empty dumpster either. Landlord wants dumpster removed as well. I’m 3 states away and no one can call me back on the correct # (except they somehow had the right number to call with the prerecorded “you have an unpaid balance” message). I don’t know what kind of game they are running but I would avoid them at all costs.

We have been with Republic Services for about 20 years. Have found them to be consistently reliable and professional. During snow, since we signed up for phone notifications, I get notified in a timely manner of any schedule changes. They have also been very accommodating when we had special requests (large items etc).

After we were forced in our city to start trash removal and the only available service in our area was Republic Service we have been disgusted with the service. For months now I have called at least once every other week about missed pickups, promised rescheduled dates for pickups that are missed and last week the street beside mine was picked up but my street was completely missed. I called this morning to speak with a supervisor because I am sick of this. There have been times my trash has sat 11 days then finally picked up after several promised pickups. There is no sense in this. I am on the verge of contacting my county commissioner since we have no other option since we live in the city to go with another company. We were forced to start paying to have trash pick up but they don't wanna pick it up.

This company repeatedly leaks oil and fluids on my street. Notifying them does nothing. Latest, they refused to pick up weekly service and asked us to repack, label and store our garbage until the next scheduled pick up day "at no extra charge". Why... Because they declared the roads unsafe with a little snow on them. I'm driving my 2wd car around them without challenge. Don't let your city sign on with Republic, they will abuse the clients.
Republic will tell you their driver safety is utmost concern, but that isn't the case if they are driving unmaintained leaky vehicles regularly. Being honest is the best policy. Republic refused to provide service because the city contracted with them as exclusive providers, and the customer has no option. This comes down to customer abuse, a long standing practice at Republic. OWN IT REPUBLIC.

We have, and pay for, two trash totes. Last pick up day, they are both placed on the road for trash pickup. After the truck left, I went to get them, but only one was there. I sent a request through their website, as it was after normal business hours, about a replacement. I received a response today stating I would have to pay them a $50 fee for a replacement. I didn’t lose it, they took it, or dropped it in the truck, and now I get to pay for their mistake? I don’t think so.
I called their number and was basically read the email back stating I needed to pay. After some time the lady said she could forward my concerns to a different person who may or may not take care of it. Unbelievable. You cause a problem, then expect the customer to pay you to fix your problem. We’ve been customers for five years, and our bill has gone up steadily, some of which is expected, but adding this on top of it is just crazy. Looks like it’s time to see who else is available in this area. It seems no one has any clue what actual customer service is anymore.

To start off I have used numerous trash removal/dumpster services for my business and Republic Services has to be the worst. When I initially setup service with them I got ordered a dumpster lock on the dumpster that was never provided. Contacted them and nothing ever happened. This was more of a pain than what really happened with them but it goes to show that they care 0%.
When I got my first bill I was charged for a container refresh which is if you dispose of food and things of that nature they will send out a new container because it gets dirty or whatever. Well I don't need that because of the nature of my work and so I contacted them about it and they said they would take it off... They never did. So for 20+ months I paid for this service that I didn't need just so they could make extra money I guess. I called so many times to get it taken off and only to have it never done. To date that is an extra $250+ I have paid for a service they said they wouldn't charge me for.
Fast forward to now. 8 months ago I canceled the service, they informed me that I would have to pay an extra few months because of the contract. All of that is fine, it's in the contract, they informed me that I would get a final bill. I did bring up the fact that I had paid for the container refresh and tried so many times to get it taken off all to just keep paying and getting billed for it. The rep informed me that she would take care of it and it would reflect on the bill. Well I never got a final bill, they just continued my service and when I called about it they said it wasn't canceled, even though I have emails that show I requested it to be canceled. Fast forward to now. I "owe" over $500 for service, apparently owe legal and collection fees???? For a service that I have canceled months and months ago. It is obvious they are just trying to make money screwing people over. This is still not finished.
Now when I try and contact them they say they will call back, good luck with that, I am left with facing fees/collection all for them being con artist. It's just unreal that a company this size can conduct business in this way. I would recommend avoiding at all cost, I may be the exception and most people have not had to deal with this but reading reviews online that doesn't seem to be the case.

The Garden Club of Jacksonville held a contract since 2012 with Republic Services. Up until a year ago service was great, however, shortly after the COVID-19 pandemic, service became sub-par. We began having repeated missed pickups and repeat billing issues. We terminated our service in writing within 60 days of the contract ended period and instead of receiving a call or notification in writing, the receptacle was picked up. Republic Services continued to bill in advance for (1) violation of the contract and (2) for services not rendered. Now, 7 months later, we have been receiving collection notices with demands of up to $1,000 in erroneous bills. There has not been any attempt from anyone with Republic Services to rectify this issue and we are extremely disappointed and unhappy with the level of unprofessionalism and poor billing practices.

In August of 2020 (right in the middle of COVID-19) I inadvertently paid my $97 bill twice. I was paying for two months. It looked as though the first payment did not go through, so I paid it a 2nd time. Once I realized my error, I attempted to request a refund through the online chat. I wasn't sure if my request was accepted, so I called customer service and they said it could take several weeks, but I could get my refund. I truly needed the money during such a difficult financial period.
As of today, 2/9/2021, I never received my money. They took it upon themselves to keep the money and apply it to my account. They had ZERO concern as to how the loss of nearly $100 could impact a consumer and did not communicate with me in the least regarding not returning my money. It would have been easier for me to come up with $48 over 3 months than just losing $97 at one time. The money came out of my bank account in a matter of minutes, but they could not credit the same account. Thank you to a BILLION DOLLAR company for looking out for your customers! (with sarcasm)

I used them for several years. They consistently increased my autopay over time with no agreement for a fee increase. It ended up being triple what I had signed up for. Missed regular trash pickups. When I canceled my service they continued to bill me and then were rude when I called them on it.

So my review is mostly due to their customer service, but also the service associated with trash removal, and overall how they handle their business. We have only used their service at this location for 1 year, and in that time we haven't had much of an issue at all really. However with the issue that just came up, how they handled it, and the way their customer service rep just treated the call, I've decided that a review is warranted, and a call to find another company is also a good idea.
A few days ago I noticed that one of the trash cans has a huge gash in it. It was clearly done by something sharp when the trash was being dumped into the trash truck. No one in the family has any idea how it happened, and we live in a remote area where there is absolutely no foot traffic. Instead of calling us to advise that it would be fixed or replaced, Republic waits until we notice it and call them. I submitted an online request about it yesterday, and decided to call today because I didn't hear back and didn't want to forget to contact them.
The rep that I talked to today at 4:50pm was clearly having a bad day and wished he didn't have to answer the phone. He did everything he could to rush me off the phone, and when I asked could I give him the right email address to contact me moving forward he gave me a bunch of excuses. He claims someone emailed me to advise that they would be out to fix the issue but I've received no such email, and he wouldn't let me confirm which email address was used. Really, it shouldn't be this difficult. There are too many other things to deal with than to go back and forth with the trash company. Makes sense to find a company that will be easy to work with.

Poor Customer Service, Poor Billing Practices. We have automatic payment set up and for the most part it works. However, in Florida (Hernando County) this company has been given free-range to be the only trash service company allowed to perform curbside pickup. As a result, the company as a whole acts in ways contrary to the standards that would be required of other public services entities. The company changed its rates (legal) but instead of applying to next bill cycle, expects payment immediately or face late charges (over $0.87). Most electronic payments systems have a minimum of $1.00. The customer service representative, Amanda, stated that all payments must be received as billed without any exception, or late payments charges will be assessed.
Overall, the company has about an 90% pickup rate through the years we have been (assigned) with them. However, missed pickups are generally deferred to the next pickup date. Although I agree that I rarely have interactions with customer service, I am sure that I am not the only person with this issue and most likely the company will enjoy a windfall of late payment assessments with mid-cycle billing changes for those that are on automatic payments.

I pay my trash pickup on an annual basis. After receiving the normal invoice I called Republic Services to see if the amount was correct, it has gone up nearly 50% the past 4-5 years even though inflation including the cost of fuel has been nothing like that. After speaking with a representative she agreed to give me a small discount on the total price which I agreed to. I immediately paid her on the phone with my credit card on the price agreed upon, that was 12/15/20. To date (1/20/21) I have received numerous recorded phone calls and emails advising me I am overdue for the small discount received. In addition they are assessing me $16.00 for being late on payment and have disconnected my service until I pay an additional $35.00 service interruption fee. I have called them three times to straighten it out and today will be the fourth. The right hand of this company does not know what the left hand is doing.

Since going to once a week pick up from twice a week, their reliability and customer service has disappeared. They have missed about half of my pick ups now for months, my waste sometimes sits there for two weeks, until complaints and County supervision forces them to pick up. They never returned any calls. Not have they given any credit for bad service. Go elsewhere.

Don't trust the quote they give you. That doesn't mean a thing to them. Also when they miss a pickup and you re-schedule it they don't show up either. The prices are ridiculous for the service you DON'T get. I cancelled and gave my business to a company that cares about good customer service. One that doesn't nickel and dime you to death.

19 years with Republic. We had always paid month to month. They changed their system to quarterly and we were billed upwards of $90/mo till it went over $120/mo at the end of 2019. Their accounting error was that the system was billing us the quarterly rate per month. Our mistake was that we just paid the bill on time. Didn't catch our attention till it went over $100 and then we were like, why are we paying $100/mo for trash pickup??? We have been in a year long battle with them and they are a horrific company.
Initial customer service staff was great and as helpful as they could be but escalation to Supervisors brought some frustration and never any callbacks. Escalation to corporate was appalling. We were in the wrong as far as they were concerned. No refunds, they corrected us to quarterly, but still billed monthly, the prices changed, they insert fees and we contested and initially, the supervisors did roll back 3 payments, but we paid over $1100 for less than $400 in service.
Yes, it was my mistake just cutting a check and paying on time and not questioning the rate earlier. Looking back through statements we have been overpaying for years. They didn't care. It was our fault. Pay the current bill or get sent to collections. $35 service suspension fee? 19-year customer, tossed in the trash by this horrible company. They will reply to this post with apologies and offers to remedy... been doing it for over a year. You got what you wanted. Ran us off and kept the years of overpayment. Shameful.

Called to complain about missed pickups. Ladies who answer are courteous but can’t escalate and nothing gets fixed. They tell me I have to call back if it’s not picked up. They’ve also tried to charge double for excessive garbage but have never produced the required images.

Just recently moved into a new neighborhood and Republic missed my pick up after the holiday. I called FOUR DAYS IN A ROW informing them of a missed pick and kept getting a missed pick up scheduled. No one has came. Ridiculous!!

I have used Republic Services for over 10 years, now most recently at my current home. The price kept creeping up over a short period of time. I searched and found a different company for 1/2 the price. Republic charged me to drop off their carts at the start of service. And also charged $88 to pick them up when I canceled service. I was quoted half the price for pick up, when I called to inquire why the price was over double what I was quoted I received a generic "that's what the price is". They charge per bin to pick up, plus $20 fuel/environmental fee and tax on top of that. They said it is to repair the bins and make them operational for the next user, if they were broken I wouldn't have been able to use them the last 4 years. Lesson learned, ask about all the hidden fees.

Republic failed to pick up my recycling & garbage at Thanksgiving. I was told this was due to staffing issues. On New Year's, they picked up on the holiday when the online schedule said it would be one day later. When I called, I was told the local office decided to pick up on Friday, but we were never notified. I will terminate my arrangement with Republic at the end of the month. Terrible service and no sense of responsibility.

Updated on 01/19/2021: This company continues to annoy me. After I post my review there was response from company saying please send message privately and they will respond. I did but no response yet. So here is my updated review. After several calls and several promises made that the bulk trash will taken out on 12/31 and then 1/2. It was finally taken out on 1/4 almost a week after the scheduled pick up date.
Another problem I have is scheduling bulk pick up requires I call and be on hold for a good 30-40 min before someone answers the calls. If your call volume is so high, obviously your service is not working well for most people. Can't you guys allow people to request and schedule bulk pickups online? Also, the drivers don't do a good job picking up the trash. Lot of times they spill trash all over and don't stop the vehicle clean up if the trash spills in front of the house as a result of bad skills in picking up the bin. I humbly request Fremont city to look for other alternatives to Republic waste.
Original Review: If I could, I would give a zero star for this company. Let me summarize. They make it so much harder to schedule a bulk pickup...you have to be on the phone for a good 30-40 min. if you want to schedule a bulk pickup. Then we leave bulk pickup outside the day before the scheduled pickup (12/29/20). Waited till 3 pm and called to remind them, they said the drivers are going around and will pick them up. Worst case they will pick up next day - 12/30. Now, it is 12/31 and no one still showed up. Not sure if their systems are screwed up and they can't schedule a pickup or if they can't keep their promise. I had to call again and talk to the manager and now they promise they will pick up today. Let's see...
This is not the first time I had issues, several weekly pickups missed. Once the trash bin was damaged and they took several weeks to replace and asked us to leave trash bags outside. This firm does not know how to do business and keep customers happy. I strongly recommend Fremont City, CA to look for better options to keep the town clean. Can't depend on this guys.

I have thought about closing this account several time before due to my trash not being picked. There is almost two weeks worth of trash in front of my house. I have called the local number and customer service still nothing. They want their payment on time but won’t stick to pickup schedules. It’s extremely frustrating to see my neighbor’s trash get picked up on time while mines piles up. It’s time to make a switch.

Consistently not picking up trash or recyclables scheduled. Seems like every couple weeks now I get a call saying that the trash pickup wont be able to be done as scheduled. Now I have to wait another week with no trash pickup for both trash and recyclables. They issues a credit, but I still have to go without trash being picked up. Always give some excuse of why they cant. Usually due to unforeseen circumstance is the excuse they like to use lately.

My recycle bin has not been collected for 3 weeks now. The first week wasn’t a big deal, not much in there, so we brought it back in. The second week it wasn’t collected and it was full so I called. The agent I spoke with was not professional and offered to send a pick up for the next week which was the day before my next scheduled pick up. I declined it thinking it would get collected this time for sure. Well yesterday it got bypassed again!
When I called just now I got a similar experience. This agent was a little more empathetic but just barely. She also informed me that there was no note of my calling in last week which was infuriating to say the least. At least this time she offered to have someone come out to pick up tomorrow so we shall see if that actually happens. I’ve lived here for almost 20 years and have never experienced service this bad before! I don’t understand what is happening here. My previous interactions with getting bulky item pick up or questions about dumpsters have been great. If I had an option for another collection service I would take it in a heartbeat at this point.

Garbage bins are so small, lightweight and flimsy that they topple over constantly from the slightest breeze or gust of wind. Our entire town is covered in trash on collection days from the dozens of overturned dumpsters. You have to literally babysit your garbage bin on collection days to ensure that it isn't toppled over before the truck arrives, or else they'll happily drive right past your overturned bin, leaving you with trash for another 4 days.
Entire dumpsters will blow away down the street, never to be seen again...in which case you then have to attempt to deal with their "customer service" (quotes intentional) to get a replacement bin and get lectured about "losing" yours and threatened with a replacement fee. If they hadn't monopolized trash service in our town we would NEVER pay for their absolutely terrible service. They literally cause the spread of trash in our small town. Think about that --- a garbage company that spreads trash around town, making it look like one giant landfill.

Missed pickups, where the driver simply doesn’t come get your trash and you have to wait a full week with overflowing cans. No pickup due to severe weather rather than a delayed pickup like other service companies provide and when you cancel over poor service, they charge you to come pick up their own cans. If you refuse to pay the charge for them to pick up their own cans, you receive a black mark on your credit, so they basically extort one last payment out of you! We switched to Piney Woods and are much happier!

I was a long standing customer over 10 yrs, referred many family members and neighbors, paid early, never missed a payment. After my mother died, my family went to live in her house, I had Republic Services for my trash and so did she, we lived in the same city 5 miles apart. I had paid her bill up in advance and mine was paid as well, I wanted a simple answer to continue with my service at her residence since I was appointed her Personal Representative and direct beneficiary, I owned my residence and hers. I was told two different things, very confusing information. I was told I could continue as a customer with my rate then I was told they would cancel hers and open my new service there at her residence, which was mine on PoD. But that now I would owe more, because it would now be a new account, when I was a long standing customer.
They also told me They would charge me 30.00 to pick up their receptacle container, which is their property. My mother already had a container at her home. We would be remodeling our home and would eventually need a large container to do that. But because they were making me feel so confused and taking advantage of our family's grief and vulnerability, trying to say we would be new account and have to pay the new account premium and they never offered to waive the fee to pick up receptacle because it was a death. It was very difficult to call and do this because I am grieving but the customer service manager was so Cold and they treated us so poorly, it was the worst company I have had to deal with. EVEN City Utilities waived fees to set up everything in my name and were very accommodating to help me switch everything. I canceled with Republic Services because they do not care about your service.

I have the most recent version of Firefox, but Republic Services' ENTIRE website is unavailable due to my use of a non-standard browser. This means every aspect of their website, public, login portion, support, etc. No company should put their entire web presence under a broken browser detection system. There's no way to complain or let them know that their website is broken. Unbelievable in this day and age.

I had a bulk pickup scheduled on Friday 12/18/2020. We also called and confirmed in afternoon. Nobody came. You can’t call them on Saturday. Can’t keep the heavy stuff out. Completely unprofessional and useless service. If you can’t come at least call or text and advise what to do next. It’s not a bin that we can keep in and out. It’s heavy stuff.

They totally missed my trash pickup day on Wednesday then I called the same day to reschedule a pickup, they told me Friday. Friday comes and no one shows. I call again and just keep getting the same runaround, no accountability no consequences for their actions but they take our money every month. I talked to my neighbor and he said why do I even bother these guys do this every time with no accountability! And it wasn't just my trash. He didn't pick up the whole block. And if I can reiterate it again this is not the first time! I can't speak for the totality of the company but the Compton District. Awful service.

I wish I could give them zero stars because they don't even deserve one. We signed up for trash removal and our pick up day was suppose to be Thursday's... so we put out our barrel Wednesday night. Thursday no show, call Friday and someone tells me they will be here Monday... Monday comes no show again. Now it's Tuesday and I've called multiple times to now be told that my trash will not be picked up till Friday?! OK so that's two missed pickups yet you have the audacity to send me a $120 bill. For what services am I paying $120 for?! Also asked to speak to a manager and there wasn't one. I find that hard to believe. Not only are they unreliable but they are expensive to boot. Stay far far away.

If you are considering Republic Services for your trash service, please re-consider! Whatever price they might be offering you, you should understand that the problem will come a few years down the road when they keep increasing your price and will not let you out of their service. You have a very tiny window to terminate - like a few days - once you sign it. Otherwise, you will find it very difficult to escape their auto-renewal.
Republic grossly overcharges for trash services. After more than a decade with this service, we found that their charges were out of control. We are a small church and must be careful with our funds. Out of frustration with the rapidly rising prices, we shopped for a different service and found a local company that would provide the same service at under half of the price - almost a third of the price, in fact.
Republic refuses to allow us to terminate, despite a certified letter giving 30 days notice and the fact that our most recent signed contract is now 6 years old. I have exchanged numerous emails and phone calls with our sales rep out of the Salt Lake City office, and she has been nothing but uncooperative and unreasonable. She insists that we are automatically auto-renewed, despite our state law to the contrary. I provided our sales rep with the details of Utah Code 15-10-201, which requires that for an auto-renewal contract to be valid, the seller must provide written notice to the consumer either in person, by certified mail, or prominently displayed on the first page of a monthly statement.
I copied the language of Utah's Code into the email I sent to our sales rep, and I emailed her a copy of each of our bills from June to October of this year, pointing out that no notice of auto-renewal was included in any of those bills. Utah Code requires that this written notice be provided no sooner than 90 calendar days and no later than 30 days before the last day of the auto-renewal period. None of our bills from June to October include any notice of auto-renewal. Nor was any notice of auto-renewal sent in past years dating back to 2017. Yet, our sales rep emailed me back and then called me on the phone to insist that we are still under contract and cannot terminate until next summer.
In our last conversation, our sales rep insisted that her managers had reviewed the contract and that we cannot terminate their services. She has not offered to provide any documentation that notice was sent per Utah code. She has not offered any explanation for why we are held hostage by a 6-year-old contract. But she insists that we are. We were unhappy with the price we were paying with Republic, but this hassle to end their services is beyond anything I have ever dealt with. If you are reading this, please, check with every other trash service twice before signing anything from Republic.

I spent 2 years trying to contact someone so I could pay my bill. They constantly told us they had to either transfer us to another department and then hung up or they said someone would call us back and never did. It's been over a year since we last saw a bill but they SOMETIMES will pick up our trash. They haven't for almost 4 months now and also have not picked up our neighbor's trash either. Not just one neighbor, multiple neighbors. It's like they don't even bother coming down our street anymore and I know my entire neighborhood is so far behind that they also lost service.
Trash is overflowing in my house because we have nowhere to get rid of it except when I'm allowed to put 2-3 bags in the dumpster at work, I have way more than that sitting around. We've had to get a large dumpster from another company several times in order to clear the trash out. That costs us $300 every single time we've had to do it, and we're doing it again because it's a health hazard. I have three kids and they can't even have friends over because we're so embarrassed by the amount of trash in our house. Every time we've tried to call them to figure out what is going on, we get nothing. No response, no help, just silence.
We don't have a lot of money and can't afford to keep getting a $300 dumpster every month. We have no other options for trash services in our city (aside from, again, the $300 dumpster from a totally different company). I don't know what to do anymore. They honestly don't care about their customers and I'm at my wits end with them. I cannot keep letting trash build up inside my house. It's disgusting and humiliating and we have no other choices at this point. It's December and yet we still have gnats all over the house from not having any way to remove the trash. I need them to help and they don't bother to respond or care.

I have had RS services for 5 years and have had NO problems until last week. Since I moved in, I have placed my trash can, recycle and heavy trash on the left side of my driveway. My 5 year old grandsons' Little Tykes basketball goal is on the cure on the opposite side of the driveway. The guys picked it up (maybe by mistake) and threw it away. I left a message the next day, but NO ONE returned my call. A little disappointed in customer service.

Republic Services is unreliable, (misses pick ups) and unethical. One employee gave us a credit, only to be followed by a late fee and penalty for not paying the credited amount after they missed (multiple times) picking up the trash we are paying to be removed. A call to their billing people was the most frustrating conversation ever. They did not care what was said in previous conversations, and then charged a late fee on a bill that was never sent to us. No resolution as of yet. Plan to shop for a new service.

I am an old lady on very limited fixed income, who has had Republic trash pickup for several years. Their service has been good, but the billing department is always a mess. Covid-19 plus husband's recent illness has wiped out more than 1/5 or our income. I struggled to finally get my Republic account paid so I could cancel with a zero balance effective Oct 31, which I did. They had already billed $70.27 for the new quarter, beginning Nov 01, for which I had, nor would, have any service from them. They refuse to credit the whole $70.27 billing (for nothing), and, instead, issued a new billing for an additional $30.00 to pick up my old trash bins, plus $26.10 service fee, fuel adjustment etc.
I have talked with several representatives during the past month, each of whom has promised to submit a review of my account and have someone get back to me. Never heard from anyone. Now, I am getting collections calls and threatening letters. The one e-mail I received was a canned response, with wrong facts, which didn't even address the questions I asked. I have wanted to leave for a long time, but kept postponing. I have fought with their billing department in the past. If you are a little short of money, their solution is ALWAYS to punish you by adding more surprise charges. There is NEVER any ability to negotiate any help or extra time. Now I know there is NO WAY to ever pay off your account and leave them. The surprise new charges just keep coming in. Don't get involved with this company!!! There are no humans in there.....just money-collecting robots.

Please learn from my mistakes! This is how REPUBLIC SERVICES does business in INDIANA!!! We have used Republic Waste for our small business for over 6 years. Here is what you can expect:
2. They miss pick-ups or come on an unscheduled day. If you call to see why they missed a pick-up, they will schedule a priority pick up and CHARGE YOU for the "extra" pick-up. I had to start keeping track of pick-ups on our calendar so I could document if/when they were coming.
3. After years of dealing with their inconsistencies, we decided that we wanted to change services. THEY MAKE IT VERY DIFFICULT TO CANCEL YOUR CONTRACT!
4. READ YOUR CONTRACT! Ours ended on Oct 27, 2020...or so I thought. In INDIANA there are no laws protecting consumers against automatic renewal and liquid damage charges, so of course these "contract" corporations take advantage of that, and as of Oct 27, 2020 we were AUTOMATICALLY renewed for another 3 years.
5. VERY IMPORTANT! To cancel services you have to send a CERTIFIED LETTER with confirmation of receipt AT LEAST 60 DAYS PRIOR to the end of your contract. IF they receive that letter anytime after your contract end date they will also be able to also CHARGE YOU FOR LIQUID DAMAGES!
I learned this the hard way because I did not go back and review the terms of the contract before Oct 27, 2020. I am hoping that other consumers read this and don't get into the same situation I did. I emailed my local rep on Oct 27, 2020 telling him that we DID NOT want to renew our contract. He said I had to send a certified letter, which I did.
When I emailed him to follow up on the certified letter, this was his response: "Yes, I did receive your letter and will process the cancellation. We will close out the account on 12/12/20 and will remove the containers 3-5 business days from that date. If you wish to have the container removed sooner than that, we can have that arranged. Please let me know if you have any questions. If there is anything I can do to help you all reconsider, please let me know."
I was so happy it was resolved! But then I got this email today: "I hope all is well. I got a call from my manager about this cancellation and he advised me on additional information that is required to get this closed. I already received the notice; however, we will need to collect 6 months of liquidated damages for breaking the contract. That amount will be $622.50. Once we collect that payment, we will then be able to close out account and break contract. I did attach the current agreement we have on file that is effective until 8/2023. Please let me know if you have any questions or how would you like to proceed. We do have some options to help live out the remainder of the contract to avoid breaking it."
REALLY??? They are going to let me "break a contract" that I didn't even want to renew and charge me liquid damages. So here I am, having to pay $622.50 to Republic because I didn’t read the fine print and I live in a state that allows companies to get away with this.

This company increases my bill with no notice. Almost a 50 percent increase. When I reached out to see why, they didn't offer me an explanation, they just explained there are different size trashcans. On top of their shady bill increase, their service has been bad as well. A few times they didn't pick up our garbage cans which is irritating, but it gets much worse. One time we came home to our trash container missing, so we checked our camera. The trash collector threw our trash container in their dump bucket then just drove off with it. When we reached out they did replace the trash can, but that is just crazy to me that they do stuff like that and then it of nowhere increase your bill almost 50 percent. If I could use another company I would in a heartbeat.

This company offered great pricing at first, but has since raised their rates by a lot. Then, when called and complained, they matched new price, but only for 3 months.. Then, I called again to cancel, they CHARGE to pick up both cans. It's $84.00 to cancel/pick up 2 cans and some other absurd charge for environmental fees. I was completely paid up with my bill until this last bill for taking my cans away.

I have been a customer of Republic Services for years and after having the service charges for my smallest trash container collection continue to go up and up, decided to research alternatives and found a locally owned company who demonstrated sincere interest in setting up and servicing my account at a lower cost with helpful customer service. Upon cancelling the service by calling Republic's local number and requesting retrieval of the container prior to the next billing cycle, I began to receive bills stating I owed them over $50 in REMOVAL FEES! And, that if not paid, they were going to refer my account to a collections agency. So buyers beware. This is how Republic Services treats their loyal customers—charge them for picking up Republic's property after they've 'taken them' for-granted and their money for years. There's no such thing as 'service' in Republic Services.

Received a message on my phone from Republic Services, "Hi This Lisa from Republic Services your trash provider. All residential routes and most commercial routes will be delayed by one day for the entire holiday week. Please have a happy and safe holiday. Thank you." Since tomorrow is Thanksgiving I called Republic to verify which day our trash pick would be, either Thanksgiving or Friday. The customer service representative stated, "Oh your trash service has already been picked up today. There will not be another pick up this week." Her response totally contradicts the phone message received. We don't go through much trash but we do need our recycling picked up. Republic, don't leave phone messages with incorrect inaccurate information.

I've had Republic Services for over 6 months now and have been completely dissatisfied since day one. They lied to me about the cost of the dumpster. They keep on changing the price and every two weeks they want to call me and say that owe money plus they don't pick your dumpster up like they're supposed to. I have been a customer of Republic Services of Southern Nevada for only 6 weeks. During the 6 weeks, I had 3 missed trash or recycling pickup which I had to call. Yesterday 11/17/2020 they only half empty the recycling bin and dumped some of the recycling items including glass bottles on my driveway, as the result there were broken glasses with broken glass all over my driveway which I had to sweep and clean for more than an hour. The service is horrendous and customer service is nonexistent and they never return calls to resolve issues, Hire some people who know what they are doing. The service is totally unacceptable. I should be compensated for this poor service.

To Republic Service, We requested to stop the pick up service on March 30th due to COVID-19. Our business was closed until May 30, 2020, but your company kept charging my credit card even though you guys did not pick up the trash bins! I contacted you guys to refund my money many times but the issue was never resolved. I decided to contact my credit card company got a chargeback. You guys suspended my account and charged me a late fee, and the suspended fee also charged me a monthly fee even though you guys did not pick up the trash bin since 3 weeks ago.
Why am I paying when you guys didn't perform your pickup service, and on top of that, charge me extra money? When we called customer service, you guys keep transferring calls to some person (every time, a different person answered) and the last person that we were transferred to was super rude and unprofessional. They did not resolve the issue and told us to contact our account manager. When we called him, my account manager told me to sign a new contract in June because he can fix the issue after we sign a new contract. However, after we signed, he did not fix the issue. When the aforementioned suspension and fee came in 3 weeks ago, he started to ignore our attempts to contact him via email, message, and phone call.
The contract we signed would have you guys come and pick up the bins twice a week; however, you guys broke the contract and changed the pick-up schedule to once a week. Your business model does not make sense. This is a blatant violation of our contract and my money has been unfairly stolen by you guys. I will take this to court if necessary, so I advise you guys to follow through with the contract and resolve the issue immediately.

Almost every week, my trash does not get picked up on the scheduled day. I have had to call multiple times to get them to come back out and pick it up. I have asked to speak to a supervisor a couple times but the customer service representatives just ignore my request and state they don’t know what the problem is and tell me they will send them back out to pick up the trash as soon as possible. I put my trash out the night before it is supposed to be picked up, right at the curb. I don’t understand why this keeps happening and I shouldn’t have to call every week about this issue. I would think they would want to get to the root of the issue rather than keep sending their workers back out again. I would really love a resolution to this situation.

I have had Republic Services for a while now not because I enjoy them but because they’re the only garbage company that serves my area and I really feel this is why they treat people so badly, they took my garbage bin and closed my account saying I was 120 days late on making payments. I’ve made a payment on time since I’ve lived in this home for the last 140 days. I called them and showed proof from my bank statements that I made all my payments on time. They told me the only way to restore service is if I paid an additional hundred dollars on top of the $189 that they made me pay to begin with! I told them I should not have to pay considering they’re the ones that made the mistake and took my Bin for no reason, they were dismissive and rude.
I asked to speak to whomever was in charge and I spoke to the CEO assistant who was just as rude. She told me I could not record Her conversation with me and when I asked why she just kept repeating that I could not record it which I found strange. If you don’t have anything to hide. She then said they would call me back within 24 hours to see if there was anything else they can do and she never called. I waited two days and called back. Spoke to someone else then said they would return my call that day and never did! Now we have no garbage bin, no garbage service and we overpaid them about three times the amount we actually owed. They still refuse to bring out a new garbage bin and restore service unless we pay even more money! I have no idea how this company stays in business. They a terrible company! I’ve decided to no longer have garbage service because that’s better than dealing with this company!

I have been a customer for a few years but this year they have been horrible. They have missed my trash/recycling pick up at least 10 times and every time I call about it, nothing gets done for a few more days. Today is Wednesday and both my trash and recycling has been sitting out in the street since last Friday, when it was supposed to be picked up. My recycling has not been picked up for 3 weeks. They say that they will expedite it but I have never received a call back from a supervisor. Horrible way to run a business. I am on a Facebook page with people from my town and about half the people on that page are moving to a different provider because they are sick of calling them all the time. At this rate I will not be far behind. If you have other options, take them. Stay far, far away from Republic Services.

My neighbor was doing landscaping in his front yard and as a result had trucks and trailers parked on the street all week; some next to my house. To make it easy for Republic to pick up my trash, I moved the can across the street away from the parked cars. I should have known. If it's not in front of my house, they refused to pick it up. Republic Services had been our trash provider for years. The past few years their customer service has went down hill. I'm not sure if the ownership changed or what has happened. I have had to call several times due to missed pickups to be told it would be rescheduled then not come until the following week or that the driver did not pick up due to us having more than allowed when we only had the bin that was provided. They keep adding late fees when the bill was paid on time. I called and spoke with Marcus and Carol both of which advised that they did not see why a late fee had been added to begin with and was advised that late fee would be removed but hasn't. We had finally had enough and cancelled our service in June 2020. They are still billing me for late fees and now they have added another charge for picking up their own trash bin.
When I cancelled the service I was told that their trash bin would be picked up 7/7 however it sat at the end of our driveway for weeks before they finally picked it up. It was eye sore not to mention a liability hazard that could have caused an accident. I had to keep calling and calling. I spoke with Marcs to cancel our service prior to the last renewal period ending July 2020 which I had already paid for giving them plenty of notice. I keep receiving harassing calls and bills threatening to be turned over to collections. They also advised that they would add a early termination fee?? We had been with this provider for years and had never signed any sort of a contract. This provider is a joke. They have become undependable, overpriced and flat out lie about what their customer service reps will do. If they had of taken care of their clients in the 1st place I would never have had to switch providers.
I would not recommend Republic Service to anyone. They need to be avoided at all cost. I refuse to pay for fraudulent charges that they keep adding to our account. I have paid all that is owed to this provider. If you want to have terrible service this is the company for you. I've switched providers and will never go back to this provider. I would have given a 0 star rating however you have to give at least one star to file the complaint.

I signed a contract for a roll-off dumpster with Republic. It did not arrive on the contracted date. I called the next morning to cancel the delivery and request a refund since Republic had not honored the contract. The representative assured me that the delivery was cancelled and I would be contacted about the refund. While I was at a meeting, the dumpster was delivered and I was never contacted about a refund. They did manage to cancel the contracted pick-up, however, and I had to call again to have the undesired dumpster removed. Now I am receiving bills for a service that I cancelled due to Republic's failure to honor their contract. I have been told on three separate occasions (8/26, 9/14, 9/22) that operations would take care of the incorrect bill, but that has not occurred and I received a notice on 10/16 telling me that the bill is about to be sent to collections.

So disappointed in Republic recycling! Two phone calls about a missed pickup and my recycling has still not been picked up. On 10/13/2020, they did not pick up my recycling as scheduled so I called and reported it as a missed pickup and scheduled for 10/14/2020. At 4:45 on 10/14/2020, Randy called to remind them because they drove down my street and did not pick up my recycling. They told him that they would notify dispatch but they had until 5:00 to pick it up. Needless to say, my recycling was never picked up and upon calling them, I have been notified that I could throw it away because if it is "too full" they would not pick it up!

This company is a literal plague. First, my delivery of bin (singular, ordered 2) was late--no big deal. Next, I can't get my second bin despite paying for it. Now I can't get them to stop billing me for non-existent 2nd bin or to credit my account back correctly for both the bin and a seemingly grossly inflated rate. I called the support line 4 times, and every time the reps have been entirely unhelpful. My single pickup service for one month is somehow 120+ dollars--up from my quoted rate of 38 dollars. Absolutely criminal. Could not recommend, seeking alternative servicers enough. They fee pack your service and then overbill you.

I’ve been a long time customer of Republic and Recently switched containers and at that time they dropped off a recycle tote that I didn’t order. My problem with Republic is that their service representatives act like they’re going to help you but then they actually don’t. They mistakenly dropped off this blue recycling tote at my apartment building and I’ve called four times to have it picked up and each time the representative says, "Yes we will put it on the schedule" and of course it’s still has yet to be picked up. It’s been there about six months now. I finally gave up trying to call to get it off my property. Very annoying wait time to talk to someone inappropriate for how much they charge. Original Review: Our property got a new Account Rep. Breanna C. We were told that we had to submit a 60 Day Certified Letter which we gladly did. Apparently the property owner had a credit at the time. I have emailed her to come pickup the dumpsters as our new contract started this morning. The owner mailed the check and because it hasn't been received she refuses to pick up the dumpsters. I can understand not closing the account because payment hasn't been received but blatantly refusing to pick up the dumpsters is more than NUTS. However the rep Breanna had to crunch numbers to get the correct total. Then she contradicts herself in this morning's email stating I told your owner in July he had a balance due. Yet he had a credit at that time and she just scraped numbers together 2 day's ago!!!!
I will be calling the City of Dallas today as well as consult with some Attorney friends and also let the new company know if there is any damages done to their dumpster to contact Breanna C and her Superiors at Republic Services for Compensation!!! Terrible customer service. Try any other company before having to resort to them. Not only do they charge a ridiculous amount (more than most dumpster companies), but they do not deliver on their promises. I ordered a construction dumpster to be delivered Monday as my workers were tearing up my house. After calling every day multiple times for 4 days and trying to get a hold of someone that could help me understand where the dumpster is, I decided to request for a refund on Thursday. They kept promising they would call me back with an update as they have no direct number to the local office, but no one called me back.

Original Review: I cancelled my service due to 3 straight quarters of price hikes. Verified my account was at zero balance. Received bill the month following my cancellation with a fee for picking up the trash can. They waived that ridiculous and undisclosed fee and again verified my zero balance. I asked for a final billing showing my zero balance. Never received, so of course I have been billed again this month. I will not sit on hold for 30 minutes again to fix your billing ineptitude.

The people who pick up the trash are great! You can set a clock by their arrival time. The problem comes when you get the bill. You are told the service will cost a certain amount, they don't tell you that they have added fees beyond the service. A few years ago, I signed up for $25 a month, after added fees it was closer to $70 and always ranged $50 to $70. I canceled my service after a few months, they sent me multiple bills in the same week ranging from $35 to $95. I called and was told the $95 was an error and I made my final payment. Years later, I get a collections company call saying I owe $135 to Republic. I call Republic and am told that my balance shows $0, but to the dismay of the customer service agent, it has been sent to a third party and he is unable to help me resolve the matter.

Despite calling the day before scheduled recycle pickup to REMIND them they of course ignored the reminder. This has happened multiple times! We are giving up on trying to save the planet via recycling - everything will not go in trash. Wonder what local consumer news features & social media (FB, Twitter, Instagram etc) will think of Republic's commitment to recycling? And we are on autopay so it isn't a non-payment issue! Why can't their employees do the job for which they are paid?

We own this property and Republic Services is the only trash company. Our container was broken. We have been calling republic services since 05/2020. I was told at least 7 times and give us the date they would exchange the broken container. We were waiting and waiting patiently. Republic services has not exchanged the broken leaking container. The customer service people are rude and unprofessional. Because they know we don't have another choice. For the last 4.5 months, we suffer from this broken trash bin. The worst part is talking to customer service people. We decide not to call them again. We decide to go online and let other people how ridiculous bad service they are.

My pick up days used to be Tuesdays. They changed pick up days from Tuesday’s to Fridays without notice. They missed my August 21, 2020 pickup. When I called on Monday the 24th they said they would pick up by Tuesday the 25th. They missed that one as well. Now my container is filled to capacity and no room for additional disposal. I called on Wednesday and again they promised to pick up by Thursday and again no pick up was done. On Friday the 28th (my normal pick up day), they missed that one as well. Now I don’t have any place to put my waste because it is filled to the top. Every time they miss a pick up I have to wait the entire weekend to get it resolved. It’s as if there is no concern over their responsibilities to pick up my trash. I am the only remaining customer left on this street. It appears, they don’t want my business anymore.

We’ve been customers of Republic for years. They have increased our rate 100% of our original agreement. During this pandemic we are no longer occupying the church and have not been in the building for 6 months. They are requiring us to send a letter by mail just to have them pick up the dumpster and trying to charge us nearly $12,000 to stop ???? services. DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THIS COMPANY. The young man I spoke with could care less about our complaint. They’ve been picking up an empty dumpster for 6 months at $1900 + per month. The going average is $150! You do the math!!!

When Republic Waste in Arlington runs up in your yard and hits your newly bricked landscaped yard and refuses to pay for the repairs because we didn’t have it on video is horrible! The tire tracks match the trash truck's marks they leave every time they come around the corner.

Republic Services notified me by recorded message that there would be an additional charge for any addition bundles or bags. My service is paid through Sept 30, 2020 and the new charges were starting Aug 1st. Even though my billing statement states "1 Waste Hand Pickup 3-4 Bags, 1 Lift Per Week Residential Service 07/01-09/30/2020" The customer service I spoke with basically said they can change charges any time they want to. I have been a customer of Waste Management/Republic Services for almost 30 years but they do not care. Other services are less money but I have not change prior because of the good service. Now I will be changing services. Plus they are going to charge me $30 to pick up their 96 gallon container. Very disappointing especially during stressful times.

I was a customer since 1996. In August 2020, I received a postcard that my pickup date changed. I placed my trash outside on the new date. No pickup. I called and they 'escalated my call' for a call back. No call. Placed my trash out on old pickup day. No pick up. Called again. No resolution. They are unable to communicate with corporate or dispatch. No one can help. They do not return calls. Upper management (escalation team) does not respond. How is it that dispatch doesn't communicate with customer service? No GPS tracking on trucks to see where they are in their route. I've wasted more time on hold reporting my missed pick ups and trying to get this resolved. No one cares that I prepaid each year since 1996. Loyalty means nothing. Customer service means nothing. I'm done with this company.

I signed up for service as a bundle online for my new home and I agreed to $35 a month for recycle and trash however my first bill was $85 then $85 then $148 and I have only been here for 2.5 months. This is absolutely unacceptable, I have had to call in 3 times wasting my time getting a total run around. 1st call: I was told online prices and call center prices are different and the call center has no connection to the online service agreement. How does this make any sense? I set it up online with your company! Then Im transferred, an hour later I'm told the 85 bill is quarterly and it is correct and matches my online bill.
2nd call: I ask how much is it to have yard waste picked up. I'm told I can put out 3 bundles on the ground measures 24 inch diameter and 3 feet length for FREE or 3 yard trash bags , again for FREE bc it is included in my price, I do this and get a 148 bill! 3rd call: tells me the same thing, there is no connection to the online price and there is no way I got a bundle in my area and that yard east is NOT FREE. I have the online agreement and sent it in requesting refunds but doubt I will hear from anyone.

I just called Republic Services to transfer service and was told I would have to pay for both places until someone transfer the service into their name of the house I am no longer living in! They said it is Nevada law!!! The Governor’s office said they know of no law or statute that states that and I would have to call Republic Services! Why would I continue to pay for a service I am not receiving! I won’t need trash or recycling pick up at this empty house!!! This is outrageous and I will be reporting this to all the news stations and will be filing an official complaint against republic services! Someone explain why you are robbing people especially now!!!!!

After months of missed pickups, trash can the in the ditch or in the road I cancelled my service and was told there was a $40 plus fees charge to pick up their trash can. They do not disclose this fee and claim it's on the back of the bill. Which you don't get if you pay online. Customer service and managers are extremely rude and unhelpful. Clearly they don't like their jobs. Don't use this company!

I have been a customer of Republic Services for 7+ years and over the past two years the quarterly bill has gone way up. When I called several times to ask for an explanation of my charges (believing I may have been double charged), no one could explain the charges, with several representatives agreeing the bill did not make sense. After never receiving calls back when promised, I terminated my contract out of frustration. At the time I had a $102 credit pending (note: when I complained about the price the first time, a sales team member reduced my rate by over $100 per quarter to retain my business, thus creating a credit), Which was due to me August 4th per their online records.
August 4th came and went with no refund. Called August 10th and was promised the refund in my bank in a couple days. Called August 14th to be told it was just processed manually and would take 6-8 weeks by mail. This company has deceptive or unclear billing practices and does not act on refunds in the same timely manner as they do when you owe them money. In the end I now pay $88 per quarter with another company vs. $233 per quarter with Republic. I recommend avoid this company at all cost.

Updated on 08/17/2020: Republic Services quickly apologized regarding an issue and complaint. They indicated that if I contacted them offline they would respond. I did and I'm still waiting with no response. Republic Services very quickly acknowledges a complaint on this forum but is very slow to respond, assuming they will actually respond.
Original Review: Several weeks ago during a regular service pickup, the Republic Services truck left splattered paint in front of several neighborhood residences. The paint trail starts a block away from our residence. Customer service said a supervisor would call. No one has called. I called back a week later and they said try our 800#. It was not Republic but their insurance company. They said it's not Republic's responsibility, try calling the Virginia Dept of Transportation.
A neighbor also called with the same complaint and was given the same run around --no resolution. The truck left splattered paint in front of several houses. It's an eye sore. The very least Republic can do is return the call from a customer, as they said they would, rather provide a run around and "it's not our responsibility". Perhaps it is an issue for DOT since its on public property, I'm not sure, but frankly, Republic should be doing the follow up , not me. It may not be your responsibility but it certainly is your fault.

Updated on 08/11/2020: I called Republic again on Monday, August 10th speak with a representative regarding not receiving the trash can on Saturday, August 8th. After almost a month of going back and forth I am then told "Oh you need to file a police report. When you make the report call us first thing in the morning with the report number, we will deliver the trash can on Wednesday, when the pick up the trash. Just put your trash out in bags and I will note what I am saying." I then explained to the representative that I cannot put out trash backs because not only do we have raccoons but now we have rodents also. They will there into the bags and have trash everywhere. I was told "put it out there anyway and they will pick the trash up. I'll make notes of what I am telling you."
I go make the police report on Monday after work, called back on Tuesday morning, August 11th gave the representative the police report number and was then told "You told that you needed to file a police report, but the real reason you haven't receive a trash can is because we don't have any. We have people who have been ordering extra cans because they are cleaning out their garage and other things. We don't know when yours will be replaced because we are out of them."
I was so out done by that response. So my trash is supposed to pile up because they are giving trash cans to people who want extra instead giving them to customers who need replacements because theirs was stolen and don't have one. I will definitely be reporting this to our village manager. It doesn't make sense that for four (4) weeks I have been given one excuse after another. I have to go yet another week without a replacement trash can, and don't know when I will receive one.
Original Review: I began call Republic Services customer service since July 13th to request a new trash can because one of my neighbors took mine. I was told that they would deliver it on Saturday, July 25th. No delivery was made. I called back on Monday, July 27th and was told that they would send a message to the department that does the delivery and that I would get a call back within 24 hours. I did not receive a call, so I called back on Wednesday, July 29th. I was then told by customer service that my ticket was closed because delivery was made. I told them that I had not received a replacement. Customer service then said they would send a message to that department and escalate the issue.
I called back on Friday, July 31st and was then told that no deliveries were made that week because they were out of trash cans. I was then told to just put trash bags out in the alley and they would be picked up on trash day. I explained that I could not put trash bags out because we have raccoons in the neighbor, that they would tear open the bags and trash would be everywhere; the representative said that there was nothing they could. I called back on Wednesday, August 5th and was told that a delivery would be made on Saturday, August 8th. Well guess what? No delivery was made. I also explained to customer service that I was not the only one whose trash can had been taken. A couple of neighbor's trash cans were also taken. We are now not only seeing raccoons, but we are also seeing rats. This is most terrible and inconvenient.

I've had their service for about ten months with Thursday as being the scheduled day for service. They have failed to pick up my trash on at least seven occasions during that time, though one occasion was due to a late payment. I paid double what was owed in hopes that it would prevent another missed pickup though that was an a terrible assumption as it didn't work. I called the local number that is listed though have since determined that the call is automatically transferred to an east coast customer service representative. There is no way of contacting the actual service provider. I been promised pickup by 7:PM the following day on more than one occasion, though they failed to pick up. Their records have never stated why they failed to perform in a timely manner though one representative blamed their failure to perform on the Coronavirus and the fact that more people were staying home, and as a result, they had more trash to pick up.
They fulfilled my Thursday, 07/23/20 pick up on Tuesday, 07/28/20, and that occurred after having called and spoke to various east coast representatives on four or five occasions and after sending an email message. They picked up the trash two days later on the next scheduled date, 07/30/20, though failed to pick up on the next scheduled date, 08/06/20. I sent another email that night, and spoke to a representative today who stated that their records did not reflect why the trash was not picked up, though it should be today, and if not, it would not be picked up until Monday, 08/10/20. I thought I had properly researched this company prior to entering into an agreement for services, though apparently didn't do enough research. I hope this review will help others who are looking for a trash service provider.

My previous trash company was PT'S. They changed hands over to Republic Services. We all found out after the fact. As of 7-01-2020. We had to pay 3 months in advance. In 5 weeks we have had 2 pickups. Our trash overflowing in the street. Disgusting.

We have been Republic customers for 3 years and that is 3 years too long. Found a better rate at a competitor. They offered to match the price. When I told them the price, they said no! Why bother asking if you can’t or won’t match it? I want to get rid of your service and you charge me $60 for two cans to remove YOUR PROPERTY? The quarterly rate doubled, there has been new fees added and you need $60 more? Not going to happen.
They say to do what you are good at. This company is trash. The operators are rude, always acting they would rather be shoving nails in their eyes than talk to you. The drivers would speed, like it was NASCAR up and down our road. Our trash wasn’t getting picked up until 7pm on trash days and our Homeowners Association was complaining that our trash sat out for too long. Republic’s response when I called to inquire about the late pickup? “Just don’t talk to your neighbors." Wow. Don’t waste your time or money at this company. We don’t have many choices, but anywhere else is better than Republic.

For the longest time I was paying $150 for 3 months of service and then my cousin told me about Lakeshore recycle and trash and how she pays like $45 for every 3 months. So when I called to cancel service with Republic the lady tells me I was never given the new customer rate that is for a year of that same price as Lakeshore. So I stuck with them a little longer till my bill came and it started going up more and more which on it showed the fuel cost going up and fuel had actually gone down at the time. Also received some charges of an "extra lift" for another can and I had only ONE can, argued forever about it and still had to pay it.
Ended up going with Lakeshore which I should've done in the first place. I ended paying $204.75 for a whole year of service and $25 of that was a one time start-up fee. Now with Republic I still owe $54 and that is just for them coming to pick up their stupid EMPTY can. $36 for a "lift" and the rest was fuel and taxes! Do not use Republic. And when I called to cancel their service the rep had an attitude and tells me I could've paid that same price for a whole year with them! Even if so they are still higher then Lakeshore because that was their price without the start-up fee. I DO NOT RECOMMEND REPUBLIC TO ANYONE.

After years of doing business with Republic Services, dealing with missed pick ups, ever increasing rates & poor customer service I choose to use a different service that was 1/3 the price. After a couple months I was sent a bill for $89 with no explanation for the charges. Now I have been sent a bogus collection notice & am disputing it. In March 2020 when my contract with Republic services was paid in full I called to end the service due to poor service & high pricing. I went with a different company at 1/3 the price.
Two months later I received a bill in the mail from them that did not explain the charges. When I went online to explore why I was being charged my account was no longer valid. I called in to ask & was told it was a fee for terminating my paid in full service after many years of doing business with this company that regularly missed me on pick up day. After disputing that with their rep I was told it was a fee for picking up their own garbage can from my residence. I told them that the fee was not in our contract & that I would not pay it. I suggested they pay me for the weeks that they left their cans at my residence to store for them until it was convenient for them to retrieve them. It is a fee for choosing a better service & ending my business dealings with Republic Services after years & with a contract that was paid in full. I will continue to dispute this bogus attempt to collect a fee for terminating my service.

We have had multiple situations with American Republic trash services but this is ridiculous. We have had trash in our bins for two weeks now with promises of them coming. We have 8 bags of trash outside. It's Friday and they tell us "whether you like it or not we can't guarantee anything and should be picked up Monday." I went from $36 quarterly when I began and was at $95 when I cancelled. I found a substantially less expensive company because rates were so high. I called to cancel my service, then they wanted to be competitive. I had given them a chance when the price increased. I had called about the increase. They didn’t offer to do anything. When I said I had already hired a new company, the representative explained that I had to pay through the end of the month. That was two additional weeks I didn’t want. I couldn’t just cancel as of the date I called. I said, "Fine, is that everything?" I continued to ask if that will be it, "No more charges, right?"
She said, "Yes, it would be around $41." What I thought was the final bill came, it was $36.50. I paid it right away. Well, that wasn’t it. I just received another bill for an additional $30 for picking up my container. You would have thought the two extra weeks they billed me would have been sufficient. It’s not like they made a special trip to pick it up. It sat in my yard until July 2. They run routes to pick up and deliver containers. Just seems like they have quite a racket going. If I refuse to pay, I get bad credit. Like I said, they get you coming and going. Length of time with them just means you pay more.

Had this service for about two years. Continuously kept raising rates. Reel you in with a low rate then it doubles within a short amount of time. I found another service that would pick up big items at a cheaper price so I changed service BEFORE the new quarter beginning on April 1st. I emailed them through my online account on the Tuesday prior that I was canceling service.
When they didn't pick up their can I called and they said, "You have to call by phone to cancel" and that it didn't matter anyway because they could charge for that month per their terms of agreement. It took four rude people and being on hold for 15 minutes to get that info. Then it took them another 2 weeks to pick up their can and then they charged me another fee in May for a total of $119. I've had numerous trash pickup services and never had one charge to recondition a can. Total ripoff. My new company is great. Always show up, doesn't charge extra for a second can and they pick up large items for NO EXTRA FEE.

Our recycled items were not picked up. Republic as usual gave their typical lame duck answer - "Oh we didn't have drivers today." Give me a break. Then I was told it would be picked up the next day. Yeah right. That didn't happen. Then a supervisor called and said for sure the next day. You get the picture. The can is still at the curb - FULL. I wouldn't even recommend Republic to ISIS!! I'm certain I will get a response from one of their excuse makers, with an apology. You'll get better service from the city of Portland, Oregon than from these people. Treat them like Covid 19 and STAY AWAY.

Have been paying a premium to be with Republic Services for some time. I knew it but service was pretty good. Then to that premium charge they recently added another $30 fuel recovery charge. Okay time to check new service and what do you know I can get more pickups at nearly half the Republic charge for normal service without add ons. So I'm done, except they're going to stick it to the customer one more time with a charge for bin pickup. So I got some relief over the phone and agent says they'll charge half the normal charge. Bill comes in today at it's 3/4 the charge. So Republic you've stuck it to this retired customer for the last time - shop around folks - you can get a lower price with better service.

We put our service on hold for 6 months then we received a bill. We were then told that 6 months was the limit to be on hold. We then canceled our service and was told we would get an entire month credit. We then got another bill which is on auto pay. After calling customer service again, and they said they would not credit my account entirely and the 1st person was wrong to of told us that. I asked why we have to pay anything for a service that we have not used in 7 months. Sarcastically, the representative said that it, "It's because we drive by your house." I asked to speak with a manager and waited 30 mins on hold and did not get a manager but an even ruder Customer Service Rep. We will never use their services again!

Never use this company. We moved into a new home and their locked in price for weekly service was the same as the biweekly was another local competitor. Deciding to be cost efficient, we went with them and regret every second of it. Set up service late June with barrels scheduled to be delivered July 2 ahead of our July 6 start date. The barrels didn't arrive until two weeks after their date. I called multiple times being told it was being escalated and I would get a call with an explanation - NEVER happened. $25 was paid at signup and I had a balance due on the 15th, which I was concerned with paying since I hadn't received any barrels yet. The rep gave me a credit of $10 so I wouldn't be hit with a fee and guaranteed that when the barrel delivery fee hit my account that would also be waived.
Trash pickup was missed on the 8th and then again on Wednesday the 15th. When I called to schedule a missed pickup the best they could do was Monday the 20th. I was given a refund for the month of July $26.50. Since I had my barrels by then and pickup would be Wednesday the 22nd I didn't think it worth it to schedule the miss, since I wouldn't have enough trash piled up in two days' time. But, of course, they missed the pickup AGAIN on the 22nd. I scheduled a missed pickup for the morning of the 23rd and they MISSED IT AGAIN. I called first thing on the 24th to cancel.
I was guaranteed a refund of the $25 dollars I had been charged PLUS the statement credit which mysteriously was now only $21.75 instead of the $35 that it should be because they had been charging my account at random points over the past few weeks. On the 25th, I showed that my account was closed online with a credit of $21.75 still. Now, on the 26th I have a bill for August through the end of October with fees and barrel delivery charge and it shows I have an account balance due to the company that NOT ONCE fulfilled their part of the service contract. They are a scam and I am happily taking my business elsewhere and warning anyone else that considers Republic Services that they aren't worth a dime. I only gave one star because I couldn't leave the field blank. They aren't worth any stars.

My experience this week with getting a missed trash service picked up has been frustrating. I called in on the regular trash pickup date to inform them that only one of two trash bins was serviced. Customer Service Rep informed me my account only had one bin and if we want two bins, we would have to pay more. I agreed to terms, and asked for my current trash load to be emptied. They informed me that it would be in the next day or so. I also told the Rep I didn’t have a recycle bin. A year ago, when the dumpster emptied the recycle bin the wheels fell off. I immediately called in to get a replacement/ repair. They delivered another trash bin to me. This is how I end up with two bins no recycle. Both trash bins was service for an entire year until 20 July 2020. So for this entire week (20-24 July 2020) I have requested for my second bin to be emptied.
Until date, no action has been taken, only empty promises given to me by several Reps when I call in. To my knowledge I cannot make a official complaint online. I was told by the Reps everyday, they would escalate the issue to the local supervisors. Yeah right, didn’t work thus far. In closing, I guess when you are the “only game in town”, customer can be told anything and companies like Republic Services gets away with it! Mad and Frustrated

On Sunday night, I place my recycles bin on the curb for the usual Monday pickup and they picked up all the recycles on the street but mine. I called them on Monday to report this and they said they will send a driver out on Tuesday. No one showed up on Tuesday, so I called them and they said they would send a driver out on Wednesday. Repeated the same actions as the previous days, and was told they would come out on Thursday. Thursday night and the bin is still full and has not been emptied.
Their system will not allow phone messages, or emails and you must talk to one of their operators, who just repeats that she has dispatched a driver. I told them I would not be calling anymore, but would write reviews, and report them to the county in which I live, since we pay our trash services thru county taxes and the county needs to know how they treat their customers. This is by far, the worst company I have ever dealt with and I am surprised they are still in business.

Republic Services missed picking up my recycle bin on Monday, 7/20. I called Republic and they re-scheduled my pick-up for Tuesday, 7/21. No one showed on Tuesday. Called back Wednesday morning, 7/22, and Republic customer service did not have a reason why they did not pick up on Tuesday but said that the ticket was still open and they would pick up Wednesday. Nothing - Asked to speak to supervisor. The supervisor stated that Republic would pick-up on Friday, 7/24.
I just called (Thursday, 7/23) Republic back to confirm that they were going to come by Friday, 7/24 to empty recycle bin. The person I talked with said that Republic was scheduled to pick-up recycle bin on Monday, 7/27. Really - That is my normal pick-up day!!! I don't know how Republic Services stays in business with such "POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE". You are the contracted service for my sub-division so I don't have a choice. If you have a choice - Do not choose Republic Services.

Do NOT USE THIS COMPANY... They constantly miss rubbish pickups, they occasionally will come back 3 days later but likely not. They don't show up if someone calls in sick, they don't show up if there is a holiday, they don't show up if there is an inch of snow... for crying out loud, it's New England, deal with it. They don't show up if a driver breaks a fingernail... seriously... pitiful company!
Then if you call the office and complain, the ladies say... "oh yes, we know you have problems there, we're working on it"... that's just not true because in 7 years of their service they NEVER fixed the issues. Then when you call and cancel them... they will send you a bill for $99.00 and tell you it's for them to service your old container and make it worthy of rental for the next victim... yes I mean victim, that is how they make you feel! This is a PITIFUL, SORRY, UNLIKABLE, HORRIBLE company to do business with. Use an alternate.. You'll be glad you did!

This company's customer service cannot be trusted. The company missed pick up service several times for my house and whenever I called the for missed pick up service, they say "they will return to pick up tomorrow" but IT ACTUALLY NEVER HAPPENED. I spoke to the manager several times, but it doesn't work. All they say is we will be working on it. My neighborhood is complained about my garbage bin sitting down in front of my house attracting lots of flies and bugs. This company is something that you need to avoid..

The worst. Up-charges for everything, including $33 to deliver your garbage can, $30 to remove your garbage can (when you inevitably) and their own, additional waste management fees on top of county and city fees. Overcharged me on first bill, and it took an hour on the phone to fix it. Provided no written record of the "special rate" I was offered on a postcard, and so it was almost impossible to find someone in customer service who knew about that 2-year locked in rate. They also appear to effectively scrub the web of any reviews of their services, and their FB page doesn't allow ratings or comments.

So my Husband and I pay for an extra trash bin. More than a month ago the lid to one fell off when the trash people took the trash. After that, they wouldn't take our trash. We called and they said they would give us a new bin, but they couldn't do it for two weeks. They finally picked up both bins of trash last week after a month of not taking the second bin we pay for. The 15th was the day they were supposed to give us a new bin. The trash people came and took 1 bin of trash and left the other again. My husband called and told them. After that the recycle came through, my husband yelled and waved and was screaming not standing directly in front of the truck!
The recycle guy looked my husband dead in the eye and dumped the trash all in the recycling. What the heck was that! That is terrible! Then 5 mins later, they came and instead of giving us a new bin, put a new lid on the can. Problem is, they broke the peg when putting the lid on. So next trash day or the one after that, we will lose the lid again and have to go through this all over again. Trash piling up, flies everywhere, it's ridiculous. So my husband called and told them they broke the peg when putting it on and they said there's nothing else they can do. What is wrong with these people??!!

After a month of having to call multiple times to get my recycling picked up nothing ever happened unless I spoke with supervisors. After a month of no recycling service and literally more than 15 calls, I closed my account. Ten days later they haven’t picked up my receptacles and when I just called they said they had no record of my account being closed! Terrible service...When they finally sent someone to pick up my recycling it was at 6 am on a Monday morning with no notice at all. They took a photo and blamed me cause I didn’t leave my container by the curbside all weekend! Don’t use these guys!!

Stay away from these thieves! They will lock you up in a contract and charge you crazy absurd amount to get out of it. I originally tried to take over another business's bin to avoid having to pay for the bin replacement since the size was all I needed. I specifically told them I only needed the services for 1-year since this was how long my lease at that commercial building was. When trying to cancel 3 months ahead of time, they advise me to call when I had an exact date to request the bin removal. Sure enough, they keep trying to charge me despite having requested the bin to be picked up at the end of May, and now they want me to pay for 6 months of service due to early cancellation despite having explicitly stated we only needed their services for 1-year. Stay away! CUSTOMER SERVICE is EXTREMELY BAD, and THEY WILL GO EXTREME LENGTH to STEAL YOUR HARD EARNED MONEY.

Spoke to a rep named Kathy 4/20/20 and spoke about a couple things and let her know I was moving 5/6 and needed account closed 5/2. I received a call 6/25 stating I was past due on account. I called 6/25 and the employee, I believe her name was Deedee but she said I was “lying” that I never closed the account. Claimed I said I’d call back in spite of knowing the closing date from since early April. I had email proof of she was saying I owe 70 some odd dollars for my service since June. My mother was actually here and was recording my son in his bouncer and the phone call was actually picked up cause I was doing things as this employee was telling I’m a liar that I never gave post office a forwarding address. I actually did forwarding address online cause of covid and I have email confirmation from post office because it was done online.
The employee refused my multiple requests to speak to supervisor which I have solid proof of. I called back spoke to another employee who understood and waived the balance as I wasn’t living at address they were trying to bill me for. I left a message for the supervisor after I spoke to 2nd rep. Markita ** called and said balance would be waived. I advised that I’d be willing to drop my complaint in regards to this Deedee cause the whole thing began from this Kathy falsified notes stating one my 16yr old called and two I didn’t know my closing date.
Spoke to Kathy again today just at random cause I received an email both Monday and Tuesday stating I still owed $11.11. I advised of beginning of issue 4/20 Kathy advised that was her I originally spoke with on 4/20. She claimed she just put the name that showed up on the caller ID which is my minor daughter and tried to convince me that I told her I’d call back sometime in May cause I didn’t know my closing date when actually I have emails going back from April 11th with closing date of 5/6 and an email from 4/18 from my hometown clerk cause I advised was moving so communicating with her since 4/18 and have my final emailed water bill from Mary Jo town clerk on 4/21.
I had a planned delivery of my son so was getting everything done ahead of time but according to this Kathy my town clerk, my loan officer, my realtor, my real estate attorney all knew prior to 4/20 but I somehow didn’t and that I told her back on 4/20 I didn’t know and I’d call back in spite of notifying my city via the town clerk, Nicor, Comcast, etc I magically didn’t know when I talked to her. I asked to speak to supervisor in regards to $11.11. Said she would waive but had attitude with me cause she told me on Friday she’d waive it. I advised her I received the email had an adjustment but still showed $11.11.
I then advised that that something should be done about this Kathy falsifying her notes. If Kathy hadn’t done so I wouldn’t have had an employee telling me I’m a liar on 6/25 and I wouldn’t have been receiving delinquent calls and emails. We discussed my dealings with town clerk and my close date but Markita ** didn’t see anything wrong with her employee falsifying notes then another employee yelling and calling me a liar. I advised that I was going to post due to the lack of concern over the behavior of her employees as well as the attitude she was giving me. Like I said I have proof of the employee calling my a liar and yelling 6/25 as well but Markita ** didn’t care. You can literally hear the employee calling me a liar.

Your bulk pick up service is the worst. I have been waiting since 19 June just to have your company pick up my bulk trash. I had an appointment for 19 June. They never showed up. I even called twice to confirm the pick up. On Monday 22 June I called twice and still no pick up. I called Tuesday 23 June twice and still no pick up. What does it take for your company to do their job that they are being paid for?

I am completely disgusted. They've been increasing their prices and keep in mind, I put up with them for years until I finally called. You'd think you treat a customer well who's been loyal for 8 years or more. Wrong! They tried to scam me, lied on the phone, played games like some shady business would. They promised me a rate that I never got. Their sales people lie like no other. They play games with you with only one goal - to screw the customer. I got tired of it and cancelled. Now they sent me a bill for $80 as I supposedly owe them for their bin pick up. $80 for them to collect their own bins! How lovely is that! What a scam. Take that off my account or I'll leave you reviews on every consumer affairs website out there that will not be pretty.

I stayed with Republic thru all of their labor woes when trash wouldn’t be picked up until a day or two after it was supposed to be. Now when their regular pickup missed my receptacle, I called the next day to reschedule a pickup and was told they would be coming to pick up my trash. They did not. Nor did they come to pick up my missed trash when I called two more times that week. I had to wait until the next week's pickup to get rid of my, by this time stinking, trash. Now I don’t believe they ever planned to re-pickup my garbage. I think Republic just led me on until the next regular pickup.

Established basic weekly, single container pick-up for our home over 4 years ago. Over those 4 years, our bill increased 46%. Little by little, service fee increase after service fee increase. We rarely had issues with the service itself. We didn't ask for much though and we followed their rules. If we put something out "incorrectly" for pick-up, we would come home to a note for next time. We followed the rules outlined and tried to be compliant. At the end of the day, it came down to Republic's purchase of nice, new trucks where drivers didn't leave the driver seat. All curb-side customers requirements changed to make sure that driver didn't get out of the cab. AND...then the cost was passed onto the customer too.
I found a local company willing to pick up double the amount of waste AND recycling for my starting rate with Republic. Decided to switch, made the call to Republic and now I am being charged a $30 pick-up fee for the can. Nickel and Dimed to death. When asked if we could drop off the can to avoid the fee, the answer was "no, due to COVID-19." It is ridiculous. Again, I'll be compliant. I'll pay the fee (even though I think it is absolutely ridiculous considering I have no option to drop off). I'll cut ties professionally at the end of the quarter because Republic won't end service and prorate a refund and I won't return as a customer --residential or commercial. All the best to those who have no choice other than Republic. For those who do have a choice, buyer beware.

We had contracted with Republic to have residential trash pick up and they did a fairly good job with only a few missed pick ups...after about a year we sold our home and moved and were charged a $30 per container (we had 2) to pick up which we never agreed to with our initial contract. We reviewed our paper and found no such documentation. We contacted Republic to ask for documentation of our agreement to such container pick up charges...they have none. This is a "principle issue" and we will not be "robbed". They have threatened us with collection agency. Be aware of hidden fees and charges. I contacted them this morning prior to submitting this review and was told these are "standard charges" and I should go the the website to review. I think they should be disclosed at the time of services contract...what a rip off/scam.

Republic Services is so awful. If at all possible I'd recommend never ever using them. I work in commercial construction management; and building multimillion dollar factories are easy compared to getting republic services to remove trash and schedule pickups. I am utterly shocked at the degree of extreme incompetence and general disorderly trashy service. Amazing that a business like this can survive somehow.

I signed up with them again and paid an old bill I didn't know I had and paid for new service to start. My city's cap for trash is 10/mo. I just got my first letter from them and it is to suspend my service. I started in March. They didn't pick up the first week. I never got a bill. I just had to print a bill and it's for over 176.00. 33 of that is for container delivery which I was informed of, didn't agree to, and could have picked up myself if they had told me. I have 2 containers, that should be 60.00. I guarantee nothing will happen when I call on Monday. If they don't fix it I am going to cancel my service and find out where to drop these cans off myself.

Switched to Republic. They dropped off trash can yesterday for $10 del fee. Called today and was informed pickup fee for trash can is $42.33. Four times the drop off fee. Asked why this wasn’t shared with me upfront. Told, "We don’t have to disclose our removal fees" and this is a valid charge. Ridiculous that I was never informed upfront about this and all the other fees. Requested to cancel. Told I couldn’t cancel until end of month and I would have to pay for the service for June and will be charged anyway.
Never informed of any of these hidden fees, never signed a contract. Supervisor said I should have been sent a contract. Said he will still charge me the $42 removal fee plus service for June anyway. I prefer to give my business to a company who is honest and treats their customers with respect. I would like my monies refunded since I won’t be using any of your services. Please refund the prepay amount. You should also show all your fees upfront to customers instead of hiding them. Terrible experience with Republic!

I have had Republic Services for a number of years and have had more instances than I care to remember regarding missed trash removal, today's will be my last. I paid to have a king-size mattress and box spring removed and was told I had to wait a week when scheduling, I paid my $30 and stored the mattress until the specified removal date. This unsightly mess was not removed on the day it was scheduled and when I called that night I was told it would be removed. The next morning it was still not removed with my normal pick up so I called again and was told a supervisor would call me back.
3 hours later I called back and asked to speak to a supervisor who told me it would be an additional 3 days before this mattress could be removed. We are still recovering from Covid-19 as a community and an old mattress on the side of the road is a health risk and makes me look like an inconsiderate neighbor. I am so very tired of dealing with the supervisors and drivers for this company.

I cancelled my trash service in April. In May they deducted funds from my account. I called them and they agreed but told me their system is so bad that it may be easier to use my bank and dispute the transaction rather than work with them to get a refund. I did that. Now I called to confirm and again they say I owe funds, I convince customer service to stop looking at his screen and review my invoice history, they did and again agreed they took my funds incorrectly. Now after 6 weeks it is still not resolved, escalated to finance for the third time. System has balance due but invoices say otherwise. They cannot seem to figure anything out. claim #**. I will never recommend their service to anyone. What a nightmare caused by a broken system. They just don't care that they incorrectly took my money. I call it robbery.

Run from Republic Services. We rented a dumpster for a week, we were charged 2 deposits $519.10 and $575.00 (over $1000.00) and now Republic will not return emails are try to correct this problem. We called to have the dumpster removed from our property and they either didn’t show up, then they brought us a empty dumpster instead of just picking up the one we had. This dumpster rental has been a nightmare! I hate giving 1 star, they don’t deserve that.

I have sent emails, I have called numerous times. Every single response is they will take care of it, but they never do. They now are sending past due notices, calling my phone and sending emails. This is the most inept, unresponsive company I have ever dealt with. Our business is closed and we cannot get this company to pick up our dumpster, cancel the service...they just keep billing despite every effort our part. Run as far and as fast as you can, do not do business with these guys. Any other company would be a better option Horrible horrible company.

My trash supposed be picked up on Wednesday 5/19, they didn’t. I called on Thursday 5/20, a guy told me they’ll send someone over before 5:00 pm, no one showed up. I called again on 5/21, a lady told me they’ll send someone to pick up before 6:00 pm, nothing happened. In the meantime, the weather is hot, our street smelled awful. So I called on the next week, inform them I would request for a refund since I didn’t get my service. The lady on the phone was very rude. She said she needed get approve for that, I asked how how long takes? She said until next bill, “da”. Not mention every time I call it take forever before anyone answers the phone. Overall, it was terrible experience to deal with them. If this happens again, I definitely switch to another company.

Hard waste was missed on Thursday. Called at 8 a.m.and takes to rep. Put me on hold and came back saying driver didn't finish route but I would get service Friday. No pickup. Because of holiday couldn't call till following Tuesday. After being on hold came back and said we didn't have out Thursday so they couldn't pick up. Was out night before. Now we have incompetence and a liar. Supposedly talked to supervisor Fri and she said would discuss with operations mgr and get back to me. After verification of my phone number ended call. No service and no call back. Looking at revs I wonder how they stay in business. If we all cancel led maybe they will learn what customer service is all about since they obviously don't at this time. There should be a zero star option. So we have been in our house for a two trash pickup cycles, our pick up day is Monday, first Monday, no problem about 0800 in the morning they picked up, this week they did not, called Tuesday and was told the truck became full before it got to us and didn't get back in time from the landfill, but they would be here today for sure, well the weren't. Wednesday morning we called, person on phone said I am calling dispatch right now, they will call you back, six hours later no call, so I called again and was told the routes are full, we will get it tomorrow. Meanwhile I am storing trash in my garage because the can is full and Republic won't do what I am forced by my HOA to pay for. I am military and have lived in 7 states and never saw trash service this terrible in my life. This is unacceptable!!!!
Update: The trash man came and took my across the street neighbors trash, waved at me and drove off leaving my full trash can. Worst trash service on the planet! Angry in ways that would probably get me in trouble to print.

After being with Repubic Services for over 13 years, I decided to shop around for service since the cost of the dumpster had risen substancially. I found another services at a much lower cost. I called my rep to cancel the service only to get a run around. I sent an email with a 30 day cancellation, then spoke to someone on the phone with the same information relayed. I then phoned the rep again and informed her. She then told me I needed to send it "certifed mail" to be able to cancel. All of this ran into a month later and they billed me for 2 months more. They also tacked on a charge to pick up the dumpster! They will jack you around and try to make it impossible to cancel your service. I will NEVER EVER use these crooks again.

Republic Services has hidden charges that are referred to in the contract but not specified with the regular billing amount. There is fine print in regards to increases which isn't really even noticeable. As far as I'm concerned they are very deceptive in their business practices. This fuel charge is ridiculous especially since diesel prices have plummeted!
My dumpster is located on the Highway in Ingram Tx and has always been a lockable until they recently changed it. I have everyone going down the highway dumping into my dumpster. After numerous request they have not replaced it with a lockable one. We have demanded the service be canceled and that they pick up their dumpster. They will not respond! I would be glad to join with anyone in Texas in a DTPA lawsuit in the State of Texas. Please contact me! Please Protect yourselves from this Predator company. The CEO is Don Slager. Don't be afraid to write the corporate office and send it by registered mail. This company must be dealt with.***

My business was shut down due to the Covid-19 pandemic and as a result many issues had to be addressed regarding expenses. When addressing the dumpster issue, I found that I was being overcharged substantially by Republic Waste Services. Upon discussion with them, they were not willing to make any adjustments, so I proceeded to find another dumpster source as I had never signed contract with Republic. I did find another source at almost 1/2 the price being charged by Republic. I contacted Republic and advised they could pick up their dumpster. The lady on the phone refused to come pick up the dumpster and advised the only way they would come get it was if I signed a statement that I would not engage another dumpster company.
Otherwise, they would not pick up the dumpster and I would continue to be charged. Of course, I would never sign anything of the sort. I advised her the dumpster is sitting at the end of my driveway on NC state right-of-way property. I continue to get billed for the service and they refuse to pick up the dumpster. It is not being used and it is not on my property so I am not responsible for any usage or damage to the container. They say I signed a 3 year contract 5 years ago for service that was supposed to be $52 per month, it is now $150 per month and they are not providing any service and will not pick up the dumpster. What I signed was what I thought was a delivery receipt by the driver. Never once was a 36 month contract discussed. However, I've been paying for it for 5 years.

I just copy and pasted the email response I sent to their corporate customer service rep that emailed and called me earlier today. I'm officially over this company. The rest of these reviews shows how they simply do not care. I refuse to spend another moment of my time speaking to these people. I will have my husband go dump this trash illegally out of desperation at this point.
I just received a phone call from an employee who was directed by her manager Keisha ** to call me. She said that they would not come until Friday and when they do come on Friday that they are only taking what is inside of the bin. That is not what you and I discussed. This has been the most unprofessional experience I have had with anyone I am paying to provide a service. At this point we're either going to have to illegally dump this trash or pay to take it to a dump. I have been very patient in trying to resolve this. Clearly, Republic services does not value customer service.
1. I was told on 3 occasions someone would come pick it up later that day. That never happened. 2. I was told a manager would call me yesterday. That didn't happen. 3. A dishonest employee falsely claimed that bags were on the outside of the trashcan after my second attempt to have the service rendered that was not initially done correctly in order to justifying not coming back to my home. 4.They have stalled the entire week in order not to return to do a job that should have been done the first time. 5. Keisha ** passed me off on another employee who is NOT a supervisor or in a management capacity to inform me that they would not be doing the pick up until Friday and even if I had additional bags as a result they would not collect them.
This has gone from bad to worse. Perhaps I'm not understanding how a vehicle with wheels, gas and an engine can't return to finish a job until a week later unless there is no real leadership within this company. I am very disappointed that I have spent this much time on this simple issue due to the horrible customer service of all parties involved. I'm certain that no one I have spoken to would be content having to hold on to trash inside their home for days.

We have been a Republic Services customer in Osage Beach, MO for 19 years. When we saw recent price jumps - we started asking questions. Our neighbor has also been a customer since 2001 - 19 years as well. Their bill was $88/quarter vs our $199.25 for the same 90 gal container picked up once a week. When we called we presented asking for a rate for our home location. The rep quoted $57+fees/quarter - exactly what our neighbor was paying. When we asked about our account - she said she couldn't find it. Called back - this time the rep found our account - and offered to lower it to $106+ fees or around $155/quarter and said there was no $57 rate. So we cancelled. I called back a couple hours later and asked again what a rate was for our address. I was quoted $61/quarter plus fees. I told the gentlemen to send me to a supervisor who had authority to do refunds.
Debbie answered and asked what I needed. I explained the situation. She explained that many people are on different rates due to promotions etc to attract business. I patiently explained that both of us started the same year - 2001. I offered my neighbor's account number so she could compare. She stated she couldn't look up my neighbor's account to compare. She told me the previous rep told her he did not quote a rate. I asked if she could not contact him as this was an outright lie. She said she could review the recorded call. I asked her to do this. She put me on hold and I waited patiently. She came back and said yes, he DID offer me $61+fees. She said she had no idea where he got that from - but she would honor it. But they do NOT offer refunds. I said fine - but I will contact the MO Atty General and the City of Osage Beach. She didn't want to talk about that.
Oh and my neighbor was paying $24 for the "Total Fuel/Environmental Recovery Fee" and I was paying double that. I guess it costs them a lot of extra fuel to go 85' from his house to mine. I filed a complaint today with the Missouri Attorney General. These people are a rip off and will charge whatever you allow them to get away with. Our little town in IL puts the trash pickup out to bid. The village then bills us on our water bill. It's $15/month with NO FEES AT ALL AND THEY PICK UP TWICE A WEEK AND DO RECYCLING. I wrote the City of Osage Beach and suggested they take over the trash contracting and negotiate better rates. It works in our little town of 1000. Obviously a case where government does work - and protects consumers from predatory businesses like these. Hell of a way to treat a senior citizen!

Miller's Marina, in East Otis Mass. 01029 has been trying to get Republic to remove their small dumpster for over a year now and it still isn't being addressed, we call them everyday to go pick up the dumpster and they say, "We will call you back" and never do. The business has been sold. We just want you to pick up your DUMPSTER, you were paid for a service. Now do your job please!!!!

No Saturday pick ups. It is with reservation that I am leaving this review. I have used Republic Services for my trash disposal, without incident, for almost 21 years. That’s a great record for any disposal service. But, for the last month, my twice-a-week pick-up has dwindled to a once-a-week pick-up. Before leaving a review, I have contacted Republic Services three separate times about the missed pick-ups. There were 4 missed pick-ups so far. Each representative told me that their computer showed that we are paying for 2 pick-ups a week, so they’re not sure what the problem was. Each time I had asked their representative to speak with a supervisor and was told that I would hear from a supervisor within one to three days. This has not happened. Overall Republic Services had been extremely reliable so I cannot imagine what has changed.

On May 4th I called to request a credit for the weeks that Republic Services canceled Yard Waste Pickup. The cancellation notice originally came from our HOA, rather directly from Republic, I assume because they were too chicken to tell everyone that they were canceling services. The excuse communicated from our HOA from the Account Rep from Republic to our HOA was they stated they were picking up more trash from the regular pickup that weighs more from the trash pick up now that everyone was ordered to stay at home and their trucks were needed to make more trips to dump their loads. This was not the case for my family, we did not make any more waste than we did prior to Covid-19 and I really did not see any more of my residents with overloaded trash cans during this time.
Back to Frank, he was rather short, stated they suspended the service because of the Covid-19 and they would pick up all the excessive yard waste that was built up since they were not picking it up weekly. I stated that was never explained to us, that we did not perform many of the yard waste jobs around the house that would have generated the waste since we knew they were not picking it up. I would have nowhere to store it. He stated there was nothing he could do. I explained I was very unhappy with this policy and if he would let the higher up know. He stated I was on a recorded line. What good does a reported line do, I worked for a company that used a recorded line and it was only used when someone stated one of our customer service reps was rude and nasty. No one will hear my complaint on this recorded line unless they go back and listen to it from this review. I know they do not have someone listening to all the recorded lines.
I think this policy of paying for services that were not rendered says a lot about the integrity of Republic Services. What I find interesting, Republic Services does not care more about their reputation because the requested refund for the weeks not serviced amounts to only about 10 dollars. It's not the money for me but the integrity of the company. Republic Services does not care I guess about their integrity!!!!

First at the beginning of the year they tell me that the price is going to increase for no apparent reason just the fact that they want to increase the price. I contacted them. I was very polite. I asked after so many years of being a good customer always paying my bill on time is there anything we can do, nope nothing. They honestly could care less whether I was happy. I went ahead and paid for the yard waste pick up. It was easier to pay them to go through the hassle of switching companies.
Fast forward now the end of April, keeping in mind the service should’ve started on April 1, they have never once picked up. Then I received three voicemails telling me that they would resume picking up yard waste on the 27th. I don’t really know why they stopped to begin with but guess what, they still never showed up and when you contact them they don’t know when they’re going to be there. Terrible customer service, you pay for a service, they take your money and then they don’t provide the service.

After fighting them for 20+ years to constantly keep my bill reasonable I finally had enough. A 30% price increase was too much and I finally cancelled service in February 2020. I was told there is a $30 pickup fee for the bins that was not in my contract. I was not thrilled but figured I would pay it to be done with them. Because I cancelled close to the end of the billing period my credit card was charged for the following billing period but they said they would refund it.
I only got about 75% of it back figuring the rest was the $30 fee but they actually had mishandled my refund by not giving me the full amount and then proceeded to charge me not $30 but *** $86 *** for picking up the bins. I was referred to the billing department and talked to the lady there. She emailed me the bills to explain the charges. I emailed back to offer to pay the $30 as quoted by them, figuring that was generous, especially since my refund was mishandled. I received no reply from them. I have documented everything. Hopefully justice will prevail.

Completely unprofessional drivers that refused to pick up recycle bags all of a sudden and instead choose to knock them over and spill the contents all over our driveway. Lousy customer service from the driver and lousy response from the company. If we had options I would not choose this company.

I had residential Republic Services (Massachusetts) for 14 years before I finally had enough of their poor service and increasing prices. They would regularly (at least once a month) miss the pick up day and my trash would sit at the end of the driveway for 2 or 3 days. Several times a year they just wouldn't pick my trash up at all. Every quarter their bill increased a few bucks and after a while you realize you are paying much more than they quoted. And the price they 'quote' over the phone is not the price you pay. They add an 'environmental fee', and an 'administration fee' which will be a nice surprise when you get your bill. Have fun when you try to cancel them too. They charged me $51.50 to come and pick up their trash barrel! I spoke to a supervisor and tried to get the charge waived but they refused. They charged $32 to pick up their barrel and fuel recovery fees and admin fees for a total of $51.50.

I have been a customer of Republic Services for 4 years. Recently my bill has increased to an absurd rate. In fact, it is more than 3x what a friend is paying for the exact same services from the same company living 5 miles away. They are clearly taking advantage of people in charging more in regions where the home cost is higher. I have called on two occasions to cancel my service. I was told this was done back months ago. It was clearly not done as I received a bill with a late fee. I paid the absurd bill and waited. Again, got no initial bill and then a bill with a late fee. I called again, stated I wanted my service canceled and my trash can picked up. He stated they would remove the fee and send an updated bill. So I waited, neither happened.
I then received a threatening demand letter for the money with an additional $35 fee tacked on. I immediately called AGAIN. I was told “there is no record of you canceling or any phone call and further told that they would not remove any fees and would charge an additional $30 to pick up my trash can in nearly a month...bringing this bill to over $240. They have lied, taken advantage and been unethical. I have tried to cancel service and they have continued to not only refuse to cancel but add additional fees on top for “non-payment”. Stay as far away from this company as possible.

I bought a house in Las Vegas 2.5 years ago and have used Republic Service for the house since. Last November I moved to Henderson and listed my previous house for sale in February 2020 (the sale history of the house can be found from both Zillow and Redfin). I called Republic Services to cancel the service for my previous residence since no one is living there anymore. I was told the service was cancelled but a week later I received a letter from Republic Services on 2/10/20, saying that my service was not cancelled and I have to submit my final energy bill in order to cancel it.
Then I called Republic Services, telling them that I have to keep electricity and water for me to show/sell the house and keep plants alive, but no need at all for the trash collection service. I was told that I have to keep paying for the service even I am not using it because the County has a rule that the owner can’t cancel the service as long as he is the legal owner of the property. Since my house was supposed to close escrow on 4/1/2020, I accepted even though it sounds so wrong.
But now I have to list the house for sale again (both Zillow and Redfin show the fact), because the buyer couldn’t get the loan and the escrow failed to close. Because of the Coronavirus, my wife lost her job and it seems going to take a while for us to sell the house. With all these difficulties, we are still willing to take responsibility to pay electricity, gas and water because we need them to sell the house and keep plants alive, but it seems not reasonable for us to keep paying for the service I have not been using for more than 4 months and will never use again!
So I called Republic Services again a few days ago, trying to reason with them and cancel the service, but their staff was very cold, simply telling me it is the rule by the County that a legal owner has to have the trash collection service and there is nothing they can do about it. But they are charging me for the service I am not using (and they know I have not been using the service), why they can’t do anything about it! Maybe I am wrong, but it just doesn’t seem to be right for us to keep paying for something we are not using and do not need. And Republic Service told that I have to pay them as long as I am the legal owner of the house, even I can’t sell it for a year or two.
Is it really true that the Clark County has a rule like that? And is it really true that Republic Service can’t do anything about this and keep charging me for the service I am not using at all? Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. By the way, I started paying Republic Services for my new residence since December 2019, so I currently have two accounts with them. They know clearly that I am paying them for two houses and no one is living in one of them.
I emailed the Clark County on 4/6/20, but so far haven’t heard from the County. Hopefully I will be able to hear from the County soon. I looked at a few pages’ reviews on Republic Services on this site (not surprising most of them are 1 star) and noticed that the some reviewer said they cancelled their services because of overcharges or unreasonable price increases. It would be greatly appreciated if these reviewers could let me know how they could cancel the service for the reason not having sold the house.

We have used Republic Services for a number of years and have been mostly satisfied with pick-up of trash. However, the price has increased way too much so we contracted with another company for much less. Republic charged us for the month we cancelled even though we called on the second day of that month. Now they are billing nearly $100 to pick up their own barrels (including admin fee and environmental fee). We put the barrels out for the pickup on the right day, but they never came. We were immediately billed for the pickup and we kept the barrels at roadside for 3 weeks awaiting a truck. I called to complain about the bill and non-pickup.
Finally a month later, someone picked them up. We shouldn't have to pay this bill based on our contract. Cust. Svc. person indicated maybe it could be waived, but yesterday we had two calls from them reminding us the payment was overdue. We are not happy and would not recommend them, especially at their new increased prices.

Have been with this company for a few years, just a few incidents, one being for whatever reason about 3 years ago for an entire month they kept missing our trash, telling us to go ahead and put it out, a truck will be by to get it, they never came, in the mean time animals are ripping it apart every night, I'm out every morning cleaning it up, they are still not picking it up, same cycle for 3-4 weeks 3 times a week, very frustrating!! Not having a very happy husband with physical limitations who has had to climb down into the culvert ditch to retrieve the cans on many occasions.
Prices are constantly going up! This last increase was $15.00! I remember another increase for "fuel recovery". I called and cancelled today, today is April 2, 2020. I figure I'll at least owe for 2-3 weeks in March besides the quarterly bill. Rep tells me service will be cancelled April 30. Wait, what? But I want to cancel today, and stop service. Apparently that is not how they do things, Republic closes their accounts at the end of the month, so I will be paying for an entire month of service that I will not even be using?!

I closed my account years ago and restarted a new account in Dec 2019. I did not want to do electronic billing. In January their system tried automatically withdrawing from an old closed bank account that was in there from before and charged me fees for attempting to pull funds from a closed account that I did not enter into their system upon reopening a new account. They don’t believe they should waive their fees for me even though it’s their issue with their system reverting back to old information. I shouldn’t be charged for information I never entered or authorized for use. I found this out by opening the paper bill to find excessive fees for something I did not input into their system.

Beware when getting into business with Republic Services. We have been customers of theirs for several years. We've never had any problems with the actual pick up of our garbage, but the actual business side of it is the worst we have dealt with. We have seen our bill increased with no warning several times in the last couple of years. The final straw saw a 30% increase on our bill! We decided we had had enough and switched to a local company that is known for its customer service and satisfaction. To add insult to injury, they are still trying to soak us as we part ways. We were told that they would be charging us almost $40 to come get their trash receptacles.
Although, it could be over $70 since they gave us an extra trash receptacle at their direction when we started service due to slower recycle pickups in our area. The representative said if there's room on the truck we might get lucky and it would only charge us for one pickup!! Even worse, they will do it on their own terms. We are being forced to hold on to their trash receptacles for nearly a month so that it fits into their schedule to come get the containers AND they will still charge us to do so! And good luck getting anyone on the phone. The local centers don't answer and the 800 service lines average 10-20 min hold times. I wish we would have parted ways years ago. Avoid this company at all cost, they are looking to nickel-and-dime you to death!

I called this past Monday to schedule a BulK Pick Up on the upcoming Wednesday. I was informed that no more than five items could be put out and I had to give a list of what trash was being put out. I received a confirmation number and fast forward to Wednesday. The regular trash truck came at 2:30 pm and I watched them take pictures of my bulk trash which included a box spring, mattress, footboard, headboard and a dresser. I immediately called Republic to see why pictures of my trash were taken and why they didn't pick up the trash. I was told by that gentlemen that he had no idea why they taking pictures and that a separate truck would be by to pick up the bulk trash.
As of 8 pm, the trash is still on the curb. I call Republic at 8 am Thursday morning to see why my trash hadn't hadn't been picked up. I was told by Brenda that it was not picked up because the 1st trash truck took pictures and sent it to the bulk trash truck and told them I did not attach any City of Duluth trash bags to the items. I was NEVER informed that I needed to put trash bags on these items! How ridiculous is it that we need to buy these expensive trash bags at $32 for 20 but then you expect me to tape a trash bag to each item?
Anyways I was told by Brenda she would get it rescheduled for Today as in Thursday and give me a callback. At 12 pm I call back because I hadn't heard anything as of yet. The representative tells me that it was rescheduled for today but it got canceled??? What is going on here and why is it so hard to get this stuff picked up? They are terrible! I wish I could just grab my trash and take it to the dumpster myself!

We have 1 option for trash pick up in my community or I’m guessing plenty would move based on reviews. I was overcharged and my bill TRIPLED. I was told repeatedly pictures would be provided to back up charges. Never received a call back, reached out to Facebook customer service which seems to be staffed with angry teenagers based on snarky attitudes and responses. After being told charges would be waived, no surprise they haven’t been. Reached back out, now all of a sudden it’s a different story.
Even though the trucks have cameras supposedly they just didn’t get pictures of the 4 weeks of extra bag charges on my account. Maybe they just forgot? No... My guess is it’s a blatant attempt to rip off customers in an area that are stuck and forced to use them. I’ve also had 2 previous issues take months to resolve. I’d get a collections letter and a credit invoice the same day.., in the same amount and yet, couldn’t get them to figure out how to fix it. NIGHTMARE.
