We received an incomprehensible billing statement after canceling part of our services. I called customer service. They said they would correct the error. They only bill every 3 months so the next statement still showed it not corrected and I called again and they reassure me it will be fixed. 2 weeks later I get a letter saying pay $18.00 within 10 days or they will send it to collections. So I try emailing... and that results in a form response and then phone tag. Also they stated they had made several attempts to contact me when they hadn't.
After about three months and much wasted time I was finally able to talk to someone who could fill in the mystery of what it showed on the bill. They are not upfront about their charges and that was part of the problem. She said they would credit me for the $20.00 charge for picking up their container but I, of course, won't be able to verify that till at least the end of this month when she said I would receive an invoice. Since their customer service and billing are such a mess and a great waste of time I will be using a different trash service in the future.

I am a general contractor and was starting a commercial remodeling job on an automobile repair garage. I ordered a 30-yard roll off container to be delivered. It arrived but before work began the shop was seized by the mass. department of revenue for non-payment of taxes. The shop owner called and informed me off the situation and I called my rep. at Republic for immediate removal of the container. That was almost 3 years ago. I called them many times and was told they would pick it up.
The shop owner also called and was told the same. Bear in mind we had not loaded it. Well almost 3 years has passed the building was sold. I assumed they picked it up even though they never billed me. About a month ago I get a bill for almost 1200.00 dollars marked past due. The new owner stuffed it full and even packed it with a backhoe I'm told. I called Republic and they said they would look into it. Their way of looking into it is to keep sending me bills. Their customer service people are very non-professional and rude. I would not recommend doing business with these guys.

I had a contract with Republic. When my contract was up, I contacted them and asked them to remove the dumpsters from my property. They said that since I had notified them 30 days in advance it was not enough. I had to notify them 60 days in advance. But it does not say this on the contract. I have contacted my lawyer - and tried to get this resolved. They said I have to pay the remainder of the year lease of $2200.00 to remove the cans and - they ignore me. I contacted Clark Howard - but there are no regulations for this industry. I continue to have two company dumpsters in my parking a lot and waiting on resolution. Can anyone give me advice? The advice I have is RUN if you are considering using Republic!

I signed up for trash services yet it took me almost a whole month to do because no one wanted to work with me. Once I had services no one picked up my trash for 2 weeks. Second week of trash not picked up I called & a woman said the truck had been on route but hadn't picked up our trash. I did as I was told & put the trash out the night before with nothing blocking the trash yet they made me feel like this was my fault. Both weeks. So she said another truck route not too far from me would pick it up that day. Well it wasn't picked up. I left it out that whole night in case it was a late route but still no one is ever here for us with this company's services.
I found another service that is a cheaper and anything is better than not having your trash picked up for 2+ weeks & trouble getting services. I've talked to the rudest people on the phone I've ever talked to. I did get 1 helpful woman at the end when I was trying to cancel services. I had to cancel. I didn't have trash pickup for weeks. What kind of service is that?! I'm so dissatisfied I would never recommend this company. And if asked my opinion I would tell someone else to never deal with this business. It was a huge waste of my time.

Long story in short form. Rented a dumpster from Republic when we were remodeling. Then our house burned down on October 7, 2014. Two days later I called to have the dumpster removed. The following March I get a past due notice for rental fees from October through February. Turns out Republic had never gotten around to removing the dumpster from the burned out property. I am told they will reverse the charges and only charge for the removal of the dumpster. I receive a bill for $99 in June which I paid immediately. In July I receive a bill for $257. When I call I am told that is for the removal and dump fees. After much discussion and Jane saying it was Mary's fault and Mary saying it was Joe's fault, etc... I paid the damned bill just to be done with these people. I warn you to never do business with them. You WILL get screwed royally!

The contract specifically called for a lockbar to be installed, which was not. Instead a chain and lock were installed. This does not present a good image at our place of business. This contract does not mention any regular fuel charge, which continues to show up on our bill. The container provided by the company is rusted-out with gaping holes. This also has hurt our image as a business and service provider in the funeral profession. I cannot continue our contract with Republic Services as it is damaging our business, our business counts on a presentable image in our community.

This company handling the trash pick-up at the place I rent. The company has been picking up the trash around 4:30-5 am, 2-3 times a week right by my bedroom windows. This company has caused great noise that consequently have been causing me and my husband sleepless nights. I and the management called and asked them to come later in a day and the Republic brought excuses such as your apartment is located in downtown (Columbus) and with traffic it is not safe to come later in a day. When I personally don't see any traffic between 10 am to 2 pm in downtown. I also used to live downtown before I rented the new place and the trash pick-up truck did never come that early. I know the city trash pick-up starts after 6. I don't know why they can't come after 6. I think the company needs to rent another truck instead of expecting one truck starting too early and covering the whole assigned route.

We had a 2-year commercial contract for trash removal and during that time this company raised the rate by 40%. Needless to say we changed companies at the end of the 2 years. Then they charged us $160 for "can removal" which is a fee that is not specified in the contract. I have never experienced this type of charge with a carting company. Then, we pro-rated the last month's payment in accordance to the last day of service and on the next bill, the one for the "can removal" fee they decided that the pro-rated amount was not enough and added $14.66. Unbelievably, they endlessly nagged us for the $14.66 by phone. Never again.

If there was 1/2 a star, I could have chosen it. I signed up with Republic Services for residential trash pick-up 8 weeks ago. Every single week they either forget to pick up the trash or the recycle. I had to call them EVERY week to tell them that they forgot. They would tell me that someone would be out by the end of the day but nobody would show up so I would have to call them the next day to ask them AGAIN to pick it up. The excuses I got were 1) "the bridge is out on your street" - my response was that they could access our street from another main road - I even gave them directions. 2) "The driver was out on vacation" - my question to them was why someone else couldn't have come out to get the trash. The WORST service I have ever received.

Since Republic has taken over the route of the previous company, they have missed one, two or three weeks a month. When I called the first time, they said I have to call within 24 hours of the missed pickup. This is in spite of the fact that they call to notify us of possible collection delay. They missed the delay and the next week also. They indicate they will give a credit for the missed pick ups. I will see. Like other posts, they are arrogant and put the blame on the consumer. I am currently looking for another company to use.

Republic Services took over my previous company, Raritan Valley and soon after I began having difficulty with regular trash pick up. Service was often skipped and I discovered that each of us in the neighborhood was paying different prices. There seemed to be no honesty in the company. I continued with them even after my neighbors all switched to another company. Why? Mainly because the trash can was a large size and I have a lot of trash. But, service continued to decline.
Eventually it came to the point where they had switched my trash pick up day several times in a row and no one was coming to pick up my trash unless I called to complain that it had not been picked up as scheduled. They would say that someone would come out and they would within a day or two. As of last week, they have not picked up my trash for about 3 weeks despite numerous phone calls and messages. They say that they are coming "tomorrow or the next day" and they don't. They apologizing but never actually pick up the trash. I have switched to a new company but still need them to pick up the can (which is filled with trash).
They do not return calls and do not have an interest in losing my business or the business of the entire neighborhood. I was a customer for 10 years but was left with no choice but to change companies. I explained to them that I can't pay for trash pick up when they don't pick up the trash. Even still, they have not come for my trash or can despite 10 phone calls in the last 4 days. This company has simply become too large to provide good service. If you are looking for consistent service, I would suggest that you stay away from this company. You will spend more time dealing with them than it's worth. You can find a better company with better pricing if you spend a few minutes to see who is doing business in the area. Choose a smaller company that appreciates getting your business.

I recently canceled my trash services. I got a bill for $25 stating it is to remove the cart. I am a residential customer. No contracts were signed. Republic is the last hauler that bought my account over the years. So there was no agreement with them or contract. Isn't this against some sort of law for them to enforce a fee to remove the container. I would have driven the cart 45 minutes to their location if that was the case. I emailed them and have not heard back. But I will not pay. Who do I contact to help me fight this if I need to.

We requested & ordered a roll off dumpster to be delivered on Friday (over the memorial weekend) to our new residential property in the Angeles National Forest. We called Friday morning to get an estimated time that we should expect the dumpster to be delivered. They stated they didn't have a time yet but that we would be notified as soon as they know. We never received a call. We rented 2 cars ($$$) & had 7 people show up Friday to get this dumpster loaded over the weekend. The dumpster was never delivered. Saturday we called to see what happened... They stated that they couldn't deliver the dumpster because the road was unsafe & that they called & left a voicemail (we never received any such call).
We asked if they serviced this road & we were told "Yes". They specifically said that "There are only 3 companies that service this area & Republic Services is one of them." When we asked for them to resolve the issue the supervisor said they would need to do a site check (next week) prior to delivering a dumpster (so now we would have to wait another week to even find out if they can deliver a dumpster)... We were charged & haven't been reimbursed ($550). We wasted a weekend (7 people blew off holiday weekend plans for this) & spent a lot of money renting cars to travel from Vegas to our property to have a "Reputable Company" drop the ball on a costly service. Why they didn't do a site check weeks ago when we initially called is still unclear... We're very disappointed in Republic Services & will most likely not be using their service for even regular trash pick up in the future.

I used Republic Services for more than 15 years and I just found out that my fees is triple than my neighbor's fees. I received a promotional from another company and told my neighbor about the fees and why I am changing waste management services. And she was shocked as my quarterly rate is $266.80 compare to hers only $64.46 and her trash cart is 95/96 gallon and mine is smaller than hers. I called the Republic Services for refund of over charge fees and have her compare my neighbor's bills and mine and I was told that they don't do any refund. If I did not complain before then they cannot do anything. The customer service told me that they don't check every individual invoice, computer generate them and mail it to the customer. And if the customer did not complain and paid it then they can't do anything about it. I did not know before because I trusted the company. I never thought they are charging me more than my neighbor.
Also, I told her that's why my neighbor change their service to Republic Service is because of me. This company needs to be audited as they do not have any accounting procedure in place. Their policy of "No Refund" is illegal. I asked for a contract or anything that I agree to that policy and they said that they do not have one. I just wonder how many customer they have that they charging more than what is supposed to be.

I called & was told they had no record of my ever cancelling and that they would waive the fee if they could verify with my new company that I had switched trash hauling companies. The new company verified that I set up service on April 7 and that I had called twice, once to set up service and once to change the start date because I couldn't get a refund from Republic. Republic admitted that Griffin verified everything but said I still owed the money because they have no record of my cancelling.

I wrote you last week and you didn't respond, so I'll keep writing until you do. I wish I could give negative stars. We canceled our service at the end of February and because it snowed, your employees did not pick up the can before we moved. We called the first time about that - the person on the phone told us to leave it outside. Two weeks later, we drove by the old house and saw the can still sitting there. So we called a second time. They said they'd be out to pick it up. Then we got a bill for almost $200 so we had to call a third time. We were told "Okay, I took care of it, you don't owe anything." This happened two more times (calls four and five). Each time we were told we didn't owe anything and it was taken care of. But then we got another bill and then you threatened collections.
Finally spoke to a manager on call 6 where she explained that no matter what, the responsibility of it was ours. So we said we'd go pick it up ourselves. She called back the next day to say that the new renters were using it now, so we did not have to pay for the can any more - but we do have to pay for a $15 pick-up fee (even though IT WAS NEVER PICKED UP). This is ridiculous.

We had Republic back when it was Suburban in our area. We noticed that our rates kept increasing but the service was terrible. Finally, after years, I had enough. I dropped them and went with another, smaller, friendlier company. The rates were lower and my trash was always picked up. Well, a year or so later Suburban had changed their name to Republic and they bought out the new company I had. I never signed anything with the old company, they didn't require it, and I never signed anything with Republic. The last two years the rates have gone up over $20 per cycle which is ridiculous! My new neighbor got a different company so I was quick to call and check them out. They are $15 less a cycle plus they have had the same rates for years! Super friendly too!
The Lady Said They didn't have cart fees (I didn't know what that meant at the time) or fuel fees. So I called Republic today to cancel. My last day of service was today so I figured cool, no exchange of money. The rude lady asked me why I was canceling and I told her rates. She asked who the company was. What? Ummm, none of your business. She wanted to know their fees. Again, none of your business! Tells me, very nasty, I owe them around $40. What?! "Cart pick up fee," she says. So I proceed to tell her how I came to be with them and I was never given a choice or notification of the cart fee so they have to eat it. She says some stupid crap and I inform her, "I went to college, I took business law and you cannot change rates or opt to charge new or additional fees unless you give 30 days notice."
She shut up and then said I still have to pay it. She knew she had been busted! I informed her she can charge what she wants but I am not paying it, I am not liable and I would gladly shell out thousands of dollars to a lawyer to fight them and I would win. She got even nastier with her tone and so I asked her if she was done closing my account, which took her forever to find because she can't spell, and when she said yes I hung up. I am just waiting for the bill, it will go in the trash. They don't have my ss#, the other company didn't require it, so they can't put it on my credit. They are so flipping unprofessional and with rates going up and service going down I'm glad to be rid of them! I would never recommend them. I feel for those without a choice. I was there by now with a new company around I'm excited!

The city of Tiffin, Ohio recently contracted a local company to be the exclusive provider of trash pickup and recycling for all residential homes. A few days later, the company sold their business to Republic Services - Waste Management. For those of you who are not familiar with this company, it is not from Republic Ohio, it is a nationwide company. They are required to provide containers for their customers for recycling. I called to order my container nearly a month ago. A couple weeks ago, when they dropped a few off on my street and drove by my house without leaving one for me, I called them again. I spoke with a man who obviously has not brushed up on telephone etiquette, but finally said I would get a container that same day.
After waiting over a week and missing one pickup because I had no recycle container, I hauled my recyclables downtown and called the Mayor's office. They called Republic Services (are you keeping count, that is three calls now) to get a container. For today's pickup I neatly placed my recyclables in a small Allied Waste container and left a note explaining that I was still waiting for my container. The $2 bag is gone, but they left the recyclables. They told my neighbor that we should put the recyclables in the bags that they charge two bucks for. Sounds like a good business to be in, doesn't it?
After checking out Republic Services - Waste Management with a Consumer Affairs site, I found some horror stories about their customer service and their billing practices. Of the 60 reviews I read, fifty eight had rated them a 1 star (horrible) out of 5, and the two others rated them a 2 (dissatisfied). Maybe it is time for our city leaders who created this debacle put a recycled boot to Republic Services' rear end and re-bid the contract.

After several phone calls they finally relented on the fees but would not start service till I paid - even though it was their fault.
The next bill included the late fee again and an administrative fee they said everyone pays. Well, along with a $45 deposit and a $35 can drop-off fee... and the poor customer service, I called other services to find out that Republic charges $10-$15 more for waste pickup than other competing services who do not charge a can pick-up/drop-off fee. I started another service and cancelled republic, now there is a $35 pick-up fee and they won't promise to pro-rate the remaining amount. A couple of days later my dumpster was missing. They had closed my account early and picked up the dumpster. So they had to bring out another one for me to use through the end of the month. In January I received a FINAL NOTICE for payment of $72.73 which was the amount I had been paying per month. I called and informed them that I was paid up. Guess what...that was the "removal fee" which no one had informed me that I had to pay. So if you close your account, you have to pay a month's fee in order to have them pick up their own equipment.
As a side note: since they are such a wonderful company -- the container they had to bring out when they removed mine too early -- is still sitting there and I am told is emptied each week and no one is paying for it.

The container was too big for two senior. They do not have smaller, in January they raised their prices. I paid 35.00 to have container delivered. When I cancelled service, I received bill for 24.00. To have container picked up. This is unheard of. You were not permitted to drop off container on your own. When I called girl was rude and said the sales man told me this when I order service. He did not. She also said that's the way it is.

Do NOT sign up with this company. They are GREEDY and DISHONEST. Their contract is a 3-year contract with automatic renewal!! How they gouge you is by quoting a reasonable monthly cost but then adding "Fuel Recovery & City Tax" fee which they vary and increase without any warning. This company charges upwards of THREE times local competitors. I researched and found out the City Tax and Fuel costs are about 10% NOT 1000%.
RUN from them. Good luck trying to cancel your service, you get bounced around and for some reason only the Service Rep assigned to your account will answer any questions, yet all she does is try to gauge more money from you. I manage apartment buildings and am appalled at how this company conducts business. Several agents from our company have contacted Republic Services to inform them of an abandoned bin. They give each person the run around. The bin is now overflowing from neighbors discarding their waste!

We received a postcard in the mail promoting one month free service for a quarterly fee less than our former waste company. We signed up and cancelled our other service. A month later we received a bill for $30.89 for "Container Delivery." This is an additional fee no one mentioned when we signed up. This cost includes $20 for delivering the container, a $7.64 "Total Fuel/Environmental Recovery Fee" (I suppose for the gas used during delivering the container), and then a $3.25 charge for sending us the bill!! What a SCAM! In all my 72 years I have never heard of a trash hauler charging for delivering their container, especially when it is a hidden charge they do not tell you about when sucking into their advertising. I will NOT do any further business with such a company!

I have twice now filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. Republic services is the worst trash hauler I have ever dealt with. I would like to fire them, yet with the township ordinance I can not.

Later when I tried to discontinue service, I found out that the "switch over" documents was also a 3 year contract! And we have to pay 6 months of fees to cancel. I still went ahead and canceled. The person on the phone said that he would waive the environmental fee and I could pay slightly less to complete the cancellation. I was glad, but then they sent the entire bill anyway. I called again and made a payment and as per the rep everything was taken care of and my account was closed. But I got another bill AGAIN for a new fee/charge.

She said it was $58.00. I called Republic and was told that when I sign up for services, the price I was quoted was the rate available when I signed up. My neighbor consists of three people. They set their trash out every week, I am but one and I set my trash out every other week. WHY AM I BEING RIPPED OFF? I believe I am being ripped off because I am a senior citizen and because this company is a big rip off and can charge anything they want to charge!

My husband received a sales call with the promise that we'd get the first 4 months free and it'd be about $11/month for service. He was told we'd get a welcome packet with a contract to sign and they'd take care of ending our current garbage service. 4 weeks passed and we never received the packet. Instead we got a bill for 3 months. our old cart was still there with our new cart. I called to follow up on the whereabouts of the packet and to ask why our old cart was still there. Customer Service said they sent a "card" to our other garbage company and proceeded to tell me to contact them to follow-up because a lot of companies don't honor a competitor's end-of-service request.
The lady I spoke to seemed a bit defensive after I told her our welcome packet still hasn't arrived and we are not bound by any contract to stay with them if it's this difficult to transition services. Afterwards, I called and ended service with my old garbage company. I called Republic back to ask why I received a bill for 3 months when we were told we'd get the first 4 months free. The customer service lady was much nicer this time. She apologized and adjusted our account to reflect 4 free months, and said she'd will send out another welcome packet (supposedly the 4th one now).
Now, 4 weeks after that conversation, we received another bill saying our account is passed due, NO welcome packet with the contract received as of yet. My husband called and cancelled service right away. From the beginning of getting pressured into signing up to now with the "past due" bills, to the invisible "welcome packet" that was supposedly sent out 4x, it just didn't feel right. Lesson of the day: Don't let salespeople/telemarketers pressure you into services/goods no matter how great the price sounds; if it doesn't feel right, think twice about it. On another note, I will be going back to my old trash service: Garbageman, A Green Company. 2.5 years and no issues.

Our city switched from a municipal system to a nightmare "privatization" idea. Republic Services will only pick up one garbage container bin. Should you have any additional refuse or your lid does not fully close, they do not have to pick it up and in fact, will not pick it up. This is the first time in my 52 years that I have seen a garbage limitation. What happens if you have guests, or are just moving in, or moving out, Christmas time, or bought some large appliance? Too bad! Call the city and pay an additional $35 to have it hauled away. As if this garbage limit was not bad enough, Republic often neglects to actually pick up the garbage or recycling (which is limited to one pick up a month). Calling City Hall and demanding that they come back to pick up the missed stop and do their job will get you nowhere.
From the mayor on down, there isn't a soul in county or city government in the town of Brunswick, Georgia who is the least bit accountable for their actions. There is no accountability here and they know it. Call to complain about anything and you do not get any response. These clowns do not feel that they have to serve the community that pays their salaries or employs them or that they should care. Republic does a terrible job and often does not even do their job. Why bother when the city will not make them bother to perform of fulfill their contract?

They tacked a $35 container deliver fee, which I can get past, but I can not get past the "Total Fuel/Environmental Recovery Fee" that is $19.46 thereby doubling my monthly fee. From their site, they claim this is not a government required tax or fee, just something they tack on to "make a reasonable profit". In other words, they trick people into signing up for their service at $20/mo, then hit them with another $20/mo charge to make money because their company is so poorly run that they can't make a profit at $20/mo, so instead of charging people $40 up front, they lie. Republic bought out our previous waste pickup company. After two months of commercial service with Republic, in which we had multiple missed pickups and inconsistent pickup schedules, we noticed that we were still being billed separately for recycling, though Republic apparently does single stream recycling for all pickups in our area and neglected to inform us of this fact. We called multiple times to get the charges reversed and have them close out our separate recycling account. Have still not received confirmation or notification that our credits have been processed. We then had more than a full week without our pickups being done as scheduled. Called on a Friday regarding our missed Thursday pickup and were told that it would either be picked up Friday or the following Monday (which is one of our regularly scheduled pickups, in which case we would receive a credit for the missed pickup). Our pickup did not occur until Tuesday.
When calling customer service, we were told that they had no notes on our account regarding a call on Friday and that their GPS said they stopped by our location on Thursday (something that they did not say when we called them on Friday). We were unable to get in touch with a manager or supervisor and the customer service rep was incredibly rude and basically accused of us lying. We then tried to put a hold on our account as we are a business and are closed on holidays and were told that they would not put a credit on our account while it was on hold, even though they would not be doing a pickup at our location.
After months of being double billed, having multiple missed pickups without any resolution, and dealing with a maze of horrible customer service reps, we are switching service providers. The fact that they expect us to pay them for missed pickups, and for calling ahead to put our service on hold, is reprehensible. It is their responsibility to take notes of customer service calls. It is their responsibility to make pickups when scheduled. It should not be our job to call them on a weekly basis to make sure they do their job.

I contacted Republic to get an accurate quote about their service, and I made sure to ask if there were any additional fees or expenses. I was told it would be $14.50 per month with no additional fees, taxes, etc. So you can imagine the surprise when my first bill arrives and the $14.50 per month has risen to $55.44 per month instead. They failed to let me know that they charge to deliver their container to you (additional $10).
During the first month, they missed two pick-ups, but most surprisingly is that when I contacted Customer Service, they didn't seem in the least bit surprised about the price differences. Customer Service was quick to let me know that they wouldn't be changing anything on the bill even though I never asked them to. I was calling to let them know that I wanted to cancel the service as I don't want to stay with any company that misquotes prices and then gouges you later as if nothing is wrong with that. That fact that Customer Service wasn't surprised and didn't even bother to apologize about the misinformation lets me know this is nothing new for them.
After looking on the Better Business Bureau site, I saw that this seems to happen to many people as you can see in all the complaints filed against them. If they had been honest from the start and let me know that they charge you to deliver their container to you along with a Fuel/Environmental Recovery Fee, County Environmental Charge and a Solid Waste Management Tax I would have been a more informed consumer and gone with another company. I'm assuming this is why they failed to be honest with me.
Thankfully I caught this early on and never signed up for a 2-year contract with them. From what I understand, there's a steep cancellation fee if you are on that. I did find another great company that let me know all the fees ahead of time (Walters Recycling) plus they don't charge you to deliver their container to you! If you are looking into Republic for your trash pick-up just be aware and get your quote in writing via e-mail. Walters had no problem putting it in writing, and I was never able to get the person at Republic to send over their quote to me in writing which should have been a red flag. I have been a customer for 9 years and recently when I questioned my bill, I was treated terribly. I was told they have a right to raise the rate anytime they want to, which they have. I then asked them about replacing my dumpster, which really seemed like a hassle. As I explained to them, it had a large hole in the bottom and trash was everywhere b/c of it. They said they would replace it with the next pickup on Tuesday. I called back b/c at this point I was just mad at the way they were treating me so I asked them to cancel my service. Now they became very hateful and said a sales rep. would call me. No one did so 3 days later, I called again and was told the same thing, So I also sent an e-mail. Still nothing. So I decided to call again the next day. This time I actually got a person that was pleasant. She gave me the sales rep's number and I called him. He told me I was under contract, and I said I signed a 9-year contract, he said he would bring it by which he did.
It is a 3-year contract renewable automatically every 3 years unless I cancel by certified letter 60 days in advance. This same contract allows them to raise the rate at any time for any reason (I can't blame them for this part b/c I was the D.A. that signed the contract). I called back the sales rep and asked what the fee was for cancelling. I left a message on voice mail and am now waiting for a call back.
To backtrack a little when I signed the contract, it was $35/month for a 3-yard dumpster to be picked up every other Tuesday. There were no service fees at the time. I now pay over $89/month for the service and another $34/ for environmental and service fees. That's right $123/month, over a 350% increase over the original contract. As I stated earlier, I take responsibility for not reading the contract more carefully and will chalk that up to a life lesson. But their service is terrible and the people that work in customer service are hateful people. The way they do business is definitely underhanded and sneaky. With any luck, more people will catch on to them and they will either change or go out of business.

I have had problems with this company 4 times in less than 10 months. They automatically started billing me without telling me, and I did not live in the residence. I bought a house in April, but I did not move in until August, YET I received a bill for services that they did not do. I informed them that I did not live there thus they did nothing, they told me it did not matter, that the city law says they can charge people for service no matter if they are or not, or the house is Vacant or not.
I noticed that they would take the lid off my can, throw it on the ground so the wind would blow it down the street, so I tied a VERY loose string on it so the lid would not fly away, they cut it off not once but TWICE. Then I made a "hinge" so the lid would fall back and they could dump the garbage, they broke it off and I lost my lid (I looked everyone it's like they took it). I contacted them they said the wind did it (Yes the wind cut the string twice and broke a hinge).
I cut branches off my tree in 3 foot lengths with NO other branches sticking out, in other words it was a 3 foot long log. I tied them together (About 8 pieces) and put them on top of my garbage with the now missing lid. They took OUT the logs, laid them by the can and threw away the garbage. I contacted them, they said it might have been a safety hazard to handle to logs, YET, they could pick them up and put them by the can alright.
I went to dump some paint at their yard on the day they said I could. I saw a sign saying "Do not block driveway", so I waited until the car in the driveway moved, then I moved up out of the way of the yellow curb, a woman runs out of the booth and YELLS, "YOU'RE BLOCKING THE ROAD." I looked again out my window and was not (Also how can she see how far up I am from the curb when she is a good 50 or more feet from the road), when I turned back around the car in front of me moved so I moved again.
When I got to the booth I told her I was not blocking, she said I was and then printed out a paper for me to sign, there was a "scratch mark" so I signed next to it. As I drove away she YELL AGAIN, "YOU DID NOT SIGN", when she stood RIGHT NEXT TO ME WHEN I SIGNED. So I said, "Yes I did, right next to the mark you made." She said, "That is not a mark, its my signature, YOU need to sign here", and pointed to a spot lower on the paper. So I signed it AGAIN (Don't know why they cannot take a signature ANYWHERE on the sheet as it proves the sheet was signed). I wrote to them again, and I did not hear anything for a WEEK this time (no holidays in between or nothing) and the person was seeming to tell me it was my fault for everything (He of course did not come right out and say it, just told me the reason why the booth lady was "asking me" - it was yelling NOT asking" - to do those things).

This company is incompetent in many ways. From the way they communicate with their corporation to the tone in their voices when you call to get THEIR admitted error. After signing up for service with them only last May, we have had nothing but problems. We agreed to a period of one year at $55.00 per billing cycle and for our convenience opted for the auto-payment plan, charging it to our credit card. What a fiasco! We limited the amount to $55.00, after all, that was the agreed amount.
Well, due to them billing us for MORE than the agreed amount, the payment was rejected. This caused a "service interpretation" penalty of $35.00. No notification was sent to us in order for us to prevent this problem. They increased our rate without telling us then fined us for not paying them (We have an outstanding credit rating of about 817 or so and you don't get that by NOT paying your bills on time)! They said that unless we upped our amount that they were allowed to charge to our credit card this problem would occur again and that they would Not waive the late payment charge again.
Really? It's as though they wanted to collect as much as they wanted and we should then, call them to correct the problem. Are you kidding me? Who runs a business, much less a multi-billion dollar business, like this? Or maybe this is why they Are a multi-billion dollar company. Hmm? At any rate, after months and hours of trying to figure out how to get our trash picked up, having our agreed dollar amount to our credit card, we have given up. No way are we going to allow them to take any amount that they wish to charged after we both agreed on an amount. That would be ridiculous and SO IS REPUBLIC SERVICES. Too bad for them that there are many companies out there who, incidentally charge less and have much more reasonable people with which to deal.
So, Republic, I suggest that you check into why your company doesn't stick to the agreed fees, suggests that your customers fix your unannounced rate increases and check your agents/reps condescending attitudes. Just a thought from someone who has run her own successful business for more than 40 years. I'm just sayin'....

Raised rate mid contract, have to send certified letter to cancel. Worst customer service ever, they lie and offer no help to correct increase in rate even though we had supplied a signed contract showing the agreed rate. Service is bad, missed pick ups, delay in getting trash removed due to their schedule. Trucks come in middle of day rather than early morning as promised. Steer clear of Republic Services.

I have paid all my bills in full with Republic Trash and continue to get random bills for "fees" and "Adjustments" not listed on my regular statements. Probably one of the worst services I have ever had to deal with in Georgia. If you can help it - don't use Republic. Cancelling my service after 3 months of hell and random missed pick ups as well. I doubt they are in business much longer, actually... I hope they go out of business. These people don't deserve to have jobs.

I.D. missed pickup on Friday. Called, they said due to snow, but leave cans out, they would get it later in the next week. No Pickup. The following Friday, again skipped pickup. Said due to snow, they "would not risk getting 30 ton truck stuck or a workmen's comp claim" (Must not have been worried about an injury, just a claim). I asked WHEN will pickup happen, agent was very brusk and said "I HAVE NO IDEA". Funny, Rumpke picks up neighbors on both sides, and they made it both Fridays. From now on, Rumpke will have 3 in a row to pickup. GET LOST I.D. SERVICES (Republic).

I am very dissatisfied with the level of professionalism and the service and I'm currently seeking another trash service company!

In July 2013, my wife and I moved from a residence in a municipality where we had to contract our garbage disposal ourselves. Unfortunately, we selected waste management. When we moved to a different city, we no longer needed their services so I called to cancel our service and have our trash / recycle bins picked up and removed. They never picked them up. Shortly after moving we received an enormous bill stating they were charging us for the sale of the bins since they weren't picked up. I called my previous landlord and he indicated that approximately 2 weeks after we moved and him complaining to the garbage truck driver, the cans were finally picked up. I tried calling and having a civil conversation with customer service and eventually someone claiming they were a supervisor. That conversation ended with them saying they needed to check with their operations dept to confirm they were picked up. He stated that they would call me back with the results. Needless to say, I never got a call back.
Late November we got another bill with the same amount being charged saying if we didn't pay it, they would be sending it to collections. I called them again and received the same results. I am done playing their games and refuse to pay for something that I have no control over. I followed their instructions and because their own personnel didn't do what they were supposed to do, I am being charged for it. I have since filed a complaint with the BBB which now has been ongoing for approximately 1 1/2 months and gaining ground but they still are trying to charge me for the sale of the equipment. Never again will I pay for their services nor will I refer anyone to contract services either.

Worst service ever. This is my last email to the company. I established service with your company as a new customer the first week of August. I paid $136.82 for residential trash pick-up as well as recycling pick-up. I received my trash can the next week, but had to call back several times to receive my recycling bin. Once my recycling bin was finally delivered it has not been picked up once. I've called multiple times, each week asking to speak with a supervisor. I've spoken to countless reps. The last rep I spoke with said it was noted in my account that I spoke to a supervisor, when in fact I was placed on hold so that the rep could speak to a supervisor. She also told me that I was not on the pick-up schedule, even though I should be.
She stated that she would have someone call me back. No one ever called back. I called again and finally spoke to a supervisor this Monday, Sept. 9th. He assured me (like others had before) that I was now on the schedule and my recycling would be picked up. Again, this week, it was not picked up. I was given a measly $7 credit for all this trouble and inconvenience. I've left multiple voice mail messages with no returned calls. At this point I am asking for a full refund of $136.82 and to cancel my service. I am filing a report with the BBB and will also be posting this exact message on your Google reviews page. I will also do my research and find the name of your CEO and report the issues to them. This customer service is deplorable.

Opened the bill the other day and it's now $209.00 so I said pick it up and was told, "Better read your fine print on your contract." You have to give written notice within 30 days of expiration or contract automatically renews, oh, but if you call to get this same dumpster, you can get it for $135.00 a month. Total scam.

I have sent 3 emails to the company service dept. and have NOT received a response of any kind - phone or email.

The site in Jacksonville Florida is horrible. They continue to give you everyone else's job to do and refuse to pay you more. Meanwhile management is out playing golf with each other. They don't speak when you say, "Good morning," or anything. The CEO should be ashamed of how he lets this company be run. There is absolutely no HR presence so if you have an issue, you're SOL. Also the management team will find little things to pick on you about to try and make you lose it so they can write you up or worse. Stay away from this company!

The management does not care - they just want the money. They treat the employees terrible. They are union and are always trying to scam the customers and the employees. This is the worst place work and the worst trash removal service I have seen. Your day is never done. They stick you in trucks that are below par and dangerous. They lie, cheat and implement rules unless it suits them. I am going to Waste Management because the Republic is so lackluster. The teamsters don't do anything for the drivers. All they want to do is take your money and and if any incident happens, it is all your fault. Ernie ** is the worst operations manager ever. They screw you out of anything they can and ** is a yes man, and Dave ** is the most incompetent person I've met. I've talked to him and hey, he just puts his hands in pockets and rolls, looks up at the sky because he doesn't have the fortitude to look you in the eye. He is weak. All in all, go with waste management. Republic is more expensive but you get what you pay for.

I continued the residential trash service used by the prior owners when we bought our home, thinking the fees were probably similar and competitive, but I was wrong. I didn't question it for over 5 years. This past Christmas, we had a few gift boxes that didn't fit into our (usually not full) can left at the curb, twice. When I inquired, I was told others on the route were putting out more than their fair share. While I agree that those who routinely abuse a service should be held responsible, we were not the ones who did. Last week, we had some styrofoam in our can which was an inch or two taller than the can (which was not otherwise full). Because the lid wasn't completely closed, I received a phone call to tell me that I needed an additional can (at a higher cost). I got seriously aggravated and made some phone calls to other providers. I now pay about half what Republic Services charges locally for identical service. In addition, my new provider will take any "extras" at a reasonable charge, if they charge at all, and not require a second container and fees for it. It seems it pays to shop around and consider your options. I'm glad I did!

What a waste! - I've been using this "service" for the last few months in Cobb County. Today makes the third or fourth time I've had to call because my recycling hasn't been picked up. At first I thought maybe I was getting the schedule wrong since they only pick up every other week. However, after rolling my bin out every Friday and leaving it Saturday as well, this is just unacceptable. The first time I called, the lady was nice but informed me there wasn't a driver in the area to pick up my bin, but she assured me they would come the following Friday. Guess what? Never happened.
I called yet again and the nice guy made sure someone came that very day and assured me my next pick up would happen flawlessly on the 28th. It's now December 31st and my full recycling bin is still sitting by the curb. Are you kidding me? Who runs a business like this? This waste management service is truly a waste of my money. When I called yet again this morning, the girl once again typed notes on my account. She also tried to get me in touch with a supervisor but he was unavailable. I am beyond frustrated with this lack of service and lack of results.

Also, the driver manager is disrespectful. I don't know if it's because of my disability or misunderstanding me on the phone due to a speech problem from my accident. Also, if the garbage cans aren't where the drivers want them, they never get picked, especially by that recycle driver. He has always just driven by.

I missed residential pick up three weeks in a row and haven't come same day to fix it. Usually, it takes two to five days for them to come back.
We didn't have a problem before they bought Allied Waste and the recent problem is being blamed on a computer software glitch, so they have to build the routes manually, but after calling in each time, they still haven't fixed the route to include us. I am getting complaints from neighbors, since the trash is infront of the house.

They told me it was their mistake and that they couldn't explain why it had been added, but I have to pay it anyway and they will then credit my account on my next bill. I told them I cannot afford to pay the random charge/mistake, which is to be reimbursed in two months' time. I was told that if I do not pay this random added charge again, I may incur late fees! After hearing this, I asked if I could speak with a Manager, only to be told that the Manager had just gone into a meeting and will only repeat the same anyway.
