I had Renewal by Andersen install two paned windows with the grooves in the living room and two in the dining room, and a small one in the kitchen and a patio door. I'm very happy with the quality. The installation team was very good. All of them were very nice, cautious of damaging anything and friendly. They were very busy in the time that they were here and I didn't think they could do it in that short length of time. My patio doors don’t match though and they’re coming next week or the week after that. They said it was the first time in six years that they ever had that happen. It’s installed but they have to replace one so it matches the other one.
Hi Rosalie! We appreciate your feedback and thank you for choosing us for your replacement project. Our team is excited to come out and get that matching Patio door installed for you! If you have any questions or concerns before then, please don't hesitate to reach out.

I liked Renewal by Andersen's reputation. The rep brought samples and was able to walk us through the product and the process. The installer was an individual by himself, which I was surprised at, so it took a long time. Took 10 plus hours. But he did a good job. He was very clean. He installed the patio door. Everybody was on time and did a great job, so I was very pleased. Renewal by Andersen is reliable, professional and excellent quality.

Most of my other windows are Andersen windows and I've always been very happy with them. I had competitors come and give me a price and the prices were comparable, so I went with the one that I know. Two men from Renewal by Andersen came and did the measurements. They were very professional and exact. It was great as well as the installation. I was more than pleased because I thought there was going to be painting that needed to be done and there wasn't. There was one side of the very center piece of the window inside that is yellowish though. It almost looks like some glue or something seeped out and maybe it’s something that I need to paint over. But everything was perfect. The cleanup afterwards was just about great. There were a few little things outside that I saw the next day but it was dark when they finished so I'm not gonna hold that against anybody. The quality seems fine although the cost was more than I had anticipated.

Everything went well with Renewal by Andersen and the only problem we had was one of the windows came broken. They reordered the window and then about a month and a half later, they installed it. We would have liked it to be a bit quick but the existing window was in place, so it didn't make any difference. The quality of the window is good and they gave us a good price. We were very pleased with what we have and we love the windows. Everyone was very professional. The sales rep was very nice and we enjoyed the people who came to install. They were polite and as quiet as you can be when you're taking windows in and out. They did everything they were supposed to and they cleaned up. They let us know each step of the way what they were gonna be doing and so, we don't have any complaints.
Hi John & Judith, thank you for leaving us your feedback! We are glad to hear you had a nice experience from sales to the installation, it was a pleasure working with you both on your replacement project!

We had a tree that fell on our house and toward the end stages of the restoration of the property, we found that the impact of the tree had disjointed one of our windows. Our contractor suggested that we check into Renewal by Andersen because we have Andersen Windows. We went to our insurance company prior to that and they approved it. Renewal by Andersen did everything they said they were going to in the timeframe they said they were going to do it. They were here when they said they were going to be here and everything was completed just as they set up my expectations. They were so detailed in their work and when they left, there wasn't a speck of dust around where they did the work. It was phenomenal.
Renewal by Andersen doesn’t deal directly with insurance companies and we had to pay for everything out-of-pocket but then, we were reimbursed on the backside. The downside would be that we didn't have enough money to do more windows on our own because no other windows were damaged to the point where they needed to be replaced. If we get to that point of wanting to replace our windows, that’s certainly the company that we would consider.
Hi Tim! We are so sorry to hear about the tree falling on your home. Our team is so happy we could come out and get your windows replaced for you. Thank you for taking the time to leave us your feedback and don't hesitate to reach out in the future with any questions.

I'm very happy with the windows that we got from Renewal by Andersen and I like the fact that I don't have to paint them for a long time. They don't need to be painted. I've painted some of the inside trim and I like the brightness of them. Other than that, they said the replacement would take a day or two and it turned out to be two days, mainly because of the weather outside. It was raining and icy. In fact, I was surprised they could work on the first day. Then on the second day, it was really nice. They also pretty much responded to everything we asked just perfectly and we'll probably get some more windows from them in the future.

I had a house that had Andersen Windows and I like them very much. Our place needed windows and there was a local place that had them so we went with Renewal by Andersen. The guy explained everything to us. The price was a little high but we decided to pay that because we know they have quality windows. Otherwise, everything was great. Everybody was very professional. They left the place very clean. I didn't have to go around and clean up anything. I was just shocked. It was overall a great experience and I'm loving my new windows. I don't feel any drafts anymore but I would have liked them to be a little bit more soundproof. We hear our ambulances and everything else out there. It was not quite as harsh as we did but they're still there.

While this product may be great, we wouldn't know because the sales experience was HORRIFIC. It was just awful. The guy was pushy, trash talking every competitor. Their quote came in at $300K and then with the Manager's discounts came down to $210K... I was like okay, well that is not even remotely in our budget. The Sales guy then reminded us that if we went with another brand we may have to replace them sooner and the warranty wasn't as good, I was like well for the extra 100K I can replace them again. He was just very rude and didn't get it in his head, that his product is not worth the money!!!

Updated on 03/04/2021: Somebody responded to my first review by telling me someone local would respond. Already been down that path. Asked for management. Got 1 call at least a week later. Sales manager supposed to set an appointment with me specifically not my mother. They called and set up appt with my mother which I cancelled. I have asked at least 3 more times for management contact and have not received any. This was after my first probably 5 calls. Very difficult to deal with. PLEASE get a second quote and I strongly recommend against Andersen. Their builder series which I had installed earlier my mother cannot even open or close the larger ones.
Original Review: Had 3 sliding glass doors installed. Salesperson failed to mention how the exterior installation would look. They wrap the exterior in 3" wide aluminum so it does not look like any of my other windows. In actuality this look reduces the value of my house. There is no continuity. We were not informed of this at all during sales process.

We had them once before to change a slider in our family room and we were so impressed with the work that when we decided to have other work done, we called them again. We had a window replaced in the kitchen. It was a casement window and we changed the style. Then we had a kitchen door replaced. We're very, very satisfied with the work. There was a little bit of a wait for the installation because of COVID. But it was done before we knew we were gonna be leaving for Florida. So we were very satisfied. We know it's a little more expensive, but it's well worth it to know that everything's done right the first time, and if you ever have a problem, they're right back there. We're hoping to do more work when we come back in May. There's another door we wanted replaced and another window.

They were very much right on time. I knew when they were coming. I've been very pleased with them. I have the sliding window upstairs and then it was a separate window on the other side. In the basement, I also had the sliding window because there were also two windows. So there, I have one large window put in and that's the same thing that I did upstairs too. We've been needing windows then we found an ad in the paper and there was buy-one-get-one. We've done it twice and we called and had somebody come out. The first time, they said it would be a while because they specified we had everything custom. We had the renewal done, so they had to measure everything. It was a little bit longer than we anticipated. But once it was finished, it was worth the wait. Now, we just had our patio door replaced and it was a lot longer. But again, they got it done and we were happy with the outcome.
The only thing that could have been improved with the last one was that we would have liked the year free financing. We got the six months. And now that it's done, we're prepared for that. We pay that off at the end of the month. But the installers were the best, efficient, courteous -- everything was done as we would have expected. We have recommended Renewal by Andersen for others that are having the renewal done. We're very happy with the outcome. It's a good product.

Then I talked to a good friend who used to run her father's properties and she said to start looking about how much light I would lose. So, I started looking at the community listserv that we have here and they were all talking about Andersen. Their windows would cost a lot more money, but we decided to go with them. We bought Anderson Windows 2 times before back in the good old days when we had money that we thought we could buy good quality windows. Now we wanted to get some more windows - 5 to be exact. Our budget was now tighter than before. But I figured we got good quality windows before - I will go against my wisdom and get Anderson Windows again to match what we had before. Found out they were a lot more than I thought they would be, but went ahead and ordered them. It took a long while but finally got the notice they were in and scheduled the installation. They installed 4 of the 5 windows because 1 was damaged.
We were told they would expedite the re-order and would be about 3 weeks instead of the normal long wait for windows. THEN I checked out the windows that were installed and to my dismay, I found a very poor installation for ALL four windows. This was NOT a professional install job. The wood frame on the inside - every one of them was loose and wobbled. One looked like it was going to fall off. AND BIG gaps between the frame and the wall. When I called to complain about the problem, they said they would fix this when they come out to install the last window. We waited and waited. I had to postpone the Staining person because I didn’t want to make him come out twice. It was not 3 weeks but took almost 7 weeks before the replacement window was in. Now it was the Christmas Season and we had put up our Christmas Tree.
They finally scheduled to come out but gave us an afternoon time. I said that is not going to give them enough time just in the afternoon to complete the install AND make repairs on the bad install job. But I was told, Oh yes, that is plenty of time to do all the work. We already took down all the blinds and curtains for the first install. Now we had to take them all down a Second time - AND carefully move the Christmas tree so they had room to work. They came out mid afternoon and installed the window. BUT - just as I said - there was not enough time to do the repairs. AND - there was no screen for this new window. NOW we had to postpone the person for staining the windows again until after the new year. And we have to take down the blinds and curtains AGAIN and carefully move the Christmas Tree once again for them to come out and repair the unprofessional install.
The tech came out and made the repairs to the poor installation. This tech did a very good job. But I was told that the screen that is missing cannot be found and will have to wait longer for a re-order of the missing screen. I have received numerous emails for Andersen Windows at 25% OFF, 40% OFF ENTIRE JOB. Even 50% off. With all of the delays, poor install, damaged window, missing screen, take down and put back up blinds and curtains 3 different times and moving a fully loaded Christmas Tree 2 times, what about getting 25% - 50% off of THIS job? Then I received an email for a survey regarding “your most recent window project.” I will hold off on the survey for a while to see if they will contact me about a further discount. Will we get the missing screen before spring or summer? I finally heard back from someone. Sorry for your problems. Then they gave me about 1% credit. Whoopee DING.

I liked that Renewal by Andersen made their own product and they had a good reputation. I had a 10-foot picture window put in. We replaced a shorter window that we had. But it was multiple windows, so it helped me save money. Their products are expensive. So we did it in stages. We did 8 windows at a time up to 11, depending upon when we did them. We still have a few windows left, but they're minor windows that don't really need to be done.
I've had three different installers and all of them have been great, on time, efficient and professional. The installers take pride in their work. So, I could tell that they were really making sure that it was right. I told them what windows I wanted them to replace and their rep took measurements. I also had some extra outside trim work done and it was an additional construction project.
The quality of the windows is excellent. I was worried about how would such a big window be if we got nor'easters. But we've had it now for almost seven years and it's wonderful. It's warm. We sit next to it. It lets a lot of light in. I'm thrilled. It was definitely an improvement in our house and I hope that that the value will last for 30 more years.

We had to get casements windows because that was what we had in the house and the woman who came out to talk to us about windows was wonderful. She was very thorough and we liked her a lot. We had talked to other people too and in comparison, she was knowledgeable and wasn’t pushy, which we didn’t like.
Then, the man who came out to measure was fine and knew what he was doing. The installers were wonderful, too. The installation took two days and it was during winter. I pay like $200, $300 a month, but still, they quoted me one price and they stood by making an increase. Now, they're charging me interest on top of interest. I'm not happy with GreenSky and finance department. I don't appreciate their tactics. But I'm just gonna pay it off and be done with it. Overall, they're excellent.

Poor communication and installation quality was a big issue for me. (1) Salesman assured me the windows would be installed before Thanksgiving, they were not installed till the week before Christmas. Told them that would be the only way I would buy them. Wanted to show the House for possible sale, Made multiple calls to the Salesman in Great Bend Ks. Leaving messages. With no response. Finally was able to get a hold of Secretary who was very helpful, saying she was sorry I was not getting my calls returned. She put me in touch with someone in the service dept. This Gentleman was polite and told me that I should not have been promised to have the window install done before the Thanksgiving Holiday, because they would not be built for another week or so.
Still with no reply from my salesman, I called and left a voicemail on his cell phone, telling him I was going to contact a lawyer, because this was ridiculous, I had a call from the salesman in minutes. I confronted the salesman on the promise he made to me, never did get a straight answer from him. He did get me in touch with Service Dept. to set up install a month later than promised. Once install crew got to my house, they were fast, installing all my windows in 2 days. The weekend following, I made closer inspection of the window install, found installers were in such a hurry, they did a really poor job sealing up around the windows with Calk.
Lots of holes, areas had such a thin layer of calk, I had to redo it. If I would not have caught this poor workmanship. I would have had snow and water running in around my new windows and getting my walls wet, causing a mold problem. I was not happy with this purchase at all. I think the windows are of good quality. But the process was a nightmare! Also I was not informed the new windows would actually be put inside the old window frames, cutting down a considerable amount of view. This was also a big factor!

We went with Renewal because we thought we were going to get great service/product for the amount of money we were spending. First, our point of contact was horrible in responding to our calls/emails. We were not happy at all with the service Renewal by Andersen provided us. Although the doors look great it was not worth the money we spent and the headache we had. We had to do all the followup. I had to harass customer service to set up an appointment months after putting in a deposit. We ended up having to pay way more and had to have a contractor come in to fix the rot under the patio doors -which we were told was going to be taken care of by the installers at Andersen. And that it was included in the price.
Not until we finally got an install date and the installer came in -he told us he couldn't do the job and we will have to contract out. Our main contact who sold us the doors initially told us Andersen could do it. And there was a lot of back and forth on if they could or couldn't do it. Long story short Andersen couldn't do it. We then had to pay an additional $1200 aside from the thousands we already paid to have the rot fixed. The actual doors look great. and the installers once they were able to finally do it -did a good job. But I would NEVER use Renewal by Andersen again!! I feel robbed. The contractor that fixed the rot did a great job- he told us he would have completed the installation of the doors (and provided doors) at half the cost Andersen charged us. PLEASE shop around they are not worth it!!

I liked the quality of the product and the salesman from Renewal by Andersen. There were 22 replacement windows for the house and a front door. There were six casements and the rest were double hung. I was told when they would start and when they would finish, which was accurate. It arrived when they said it would. All of that went well. The only problem I had was with the front door. ProVia is the name of the manufacturer. Then with the installation, I had to make sure they had a three-foot clearance everywhere. I had to move some furniture or paintings. Overall, I love Renewal by Andersen.

I have all Andersen windows and this time, I had Renewal by Andersen install two double-hung windows and a door. They had good communication on who's coming and when, with each step, so it was very well coordinated. Everything went well with the installers too. The door is great quality. It won't lock though. Luckily, we live far out, so we don't lock our doors very often, but if you have something put in, you want it to work. The guy pointed out our wall wasn't totally level because it’s an older home. We have trouble with the turn-lock where it doesn't line up. It didn't at first, and then it did, and now it doesn't. Other than that, Renewal by Andersen was always very responsive.

We had Renewal by Andersen install our bay window several years ago and we were so impressed. We picked them because at that time, they were the cheapest on the market that I could find. The bay window was a big project and I appreciated what they did and how they did it. Then I had them back a couple years later to do two more windows. I also had them back last fall to do the rest of the house.
The installers were fantastic. They were very neat and they were laying down pads to protect the carpeting. They were efficient in that they came across an exterior window that had actually had some rotting going on the frame. They went off and got the right kind of lumber and they brought it back and installed it. They knew what had to be done. They could have just told me to do it and I certainly would have, but they took the initiative and they did a good job.
The consultant was courteous. He wore a mask and was careful in touching things. The communication was very clear. He had a computer right there and he showed me exactly what I would be paying with the scenarios that I gave him. He very patiently walked me through all of that. At the end of the interaction, I determined that the cheapest way to go was to finish putting in the rest of the windows.
My windows are so beautiful! They're easy to open. One of the biggest thrills I had after they were installed was in the bathroom. I can now open that window after I get out of the shower and I can get all the steam out of the bathroom just like that. It’s so wonderful! Renewal by Andersen was efficient, polite, and goes above and beyond the call of what they agreed to do. The communication was incredible during the whole installation process with the installers. The gentleman that came out to measure the windows actually came back and did a re-measure on a questionable window and I was very impressed with his meticulous approach to measuring the window to make sure it was would fit precisely. Overall, the experience was wonderful.

A friend of mine and I were discussing windows and she said that she was so pleased with Renewal by Andersen. She gave me their phone number and I called them. I got the call and they said they were going to come out to check and measure. On the 15th of October, they came and they measured it to make double sure. The guy was so sweet and nice. My window in my bedroom was filled up with cardboard and he said that he was gonna come over and he would enclose it for me. So he went out of his way, came back with a piece of plywood, an electric drill, and went upstairs and closed the opening where my husband had a hunk of cardboard 'cause it took so long for them to come and put the windows in.
The windows were installed on the 20th of November and the installation was great. The guy had a sweeper and they had all the plastic all over the floor. There were four windows installed. I had two small windows in my powder room and then I had the living room window and my bedroom window. I will also have to call Renewal by Andersen soon because I'm gonna need five more windows done, but not right now.

We looked at a couple other competing companies out there. We did the regular consumer walkthrough at Home Depot to check what was out there and based on what we saw on feedback from the internet, it seemed that Renewal by Andersen had the most accessible rate in terms of installation. The other big factor was if there were issues though, the positive responses to how those repairs were handled by them were overwhelmingly positive. We bought slider windows and they gave us an estimation for the timeline. It was just that there was a hiccup on our end. We had gridded windows originally and we asked the homeowners’ association if we could go through with clear rather than do the grids. It took a month and a half to finally hear back from our homeowners’ association saying I don't need to call them about that. I could do whatever I want.
One thing that Renewal by Andersen may be able to do on the side is to contact the homeowners’ association directly rather than the consumer doing it. That may help to push things along in that sense. I basically had to tell my homeowners’ association that my neighbor got stuff done and he got approved in a week. Why does it need a month and a half for our place to find out whether or not I can handle the inside?
But then from the sales to the guy that came in and did the measurements, they were fantastic, no pressure, and very honest about what the sales were and what the cost savings were. Originally, we talked about having a whole house done. It just wasn't really within our budget, and rather than saying, “So long, pal. Good luck. Talk to another company,” he actually took the time to work with me, work within our budget to get the most important windows done, and still get it in an area where it would be not cost-prohibitive. Excellent job. I’ve already recommended a couple of people around the neighborhood here to definitely go with this company. I had an easy experience.

We had windows quite a few years ago in our main floor. We had done one in the lower level and one on the main floor, and we had a good experience with that. We went out for a couple of other quotes but Renewal by Andersen could give us the covers and styles that we wanted. Also, the pricing was in line with the other ones. They did not just do inserts. They had to give us new window sills and frames, and they looked good. It didn’t have a lot of knots and there were no cracks. They stained them themselves and bring them in that way. But now, they don't, so we have to do that. They gave me a stainer’s name. He's been a little slow on responding but he's very busy. He has started contacting me and he's going to come here quick. I'm interested in seeing how they look when they're stained and see what the quality looks like at that point in time.
When I did the purchase, the reps followed up very well without a lot of prompting. There were a couple of corrections that needed to be done afterwards and they got right after those and got them done very quickly. They scheduled it right away, came to me and told me the day they would like to come in and do them. They picked the day and showed up. The installers had taken a piece from my old window and I needed it back. I had to call them a couple times on that but that was because the guy wasn't up in this area. I made arrangements for them to bring it back when they did the repair work and they did that. So, I had no issues. I was very pleased.

It went great with Renewal by Andersen. I love our windows. We had previously worked with them on a much smaller project 10 years ago and I knew it was a great product. When we moved into this house, we did the first half of windows with Pella 'cause we couldn't afford Renewal by Andersen. Pella did a really poor job. We got the wrong windows installed by them and they refused to acknowledge that they had a role in that. It ended up costing us more money to go with them which is a bummer. I tell everyone who's interested in windows they should not ever hire Pella.
After that happened, I convinced my husband that we had to stop and do the second half with Renewal by Andersen. It's more expensive but the customer care was so much better. When Renewal came out, there was a little scuff on one of the windows. I didn't notice it but they did and said, "That's a damage and we'll replace it for you. We'll be out in three weeks." They came in and replaced it with a new window that didn't have the little scuff mark on it. They were great and very personable.

We were sold on professional installation without the use of subcontractors- not the case! Incredibly messy in my house and the guys were yelling so much, we had to leave. GM at Renewal By Andersen told me that they paid the installers $1,600 for my total installation. This was an 11 window PLUS sliding glass door with all custom sizes...apparently you get what THEY pay for. After install, we found original artwork and custom built pieces in the home fell and were damaged, chunks of the house in our beds and all over the floors, pieces of insulation all around the house.... looked like a bunch of 20 somethings who don't care did the work...not craftsmen who take pride in their work.
For the price of the windows and service, we expected this to be a white glove experience- no mess, no yelling and no major mishaps. Instead we have a video of an installer describing how he'd break in to the house and the guys egging each other on while ripping windows out...not to mention broken window sills, a shattered window, wobbly latches, and can't help but think these windows aren't as energy efficient as we were told considering the lack of care during install.
Most destroyed items are on back order and since everything is custom, we have to live with a shattered window and missing 10 ft window sill for a few months- GM interrupted me to accuse me of trying to make this a bigger deal than it is. Point blank - the quality we received for what we will be paying off for the next 10 years does NOT match. Do not waste your hard earned money on this company- you will get the exact same installers as the cheaper guys and a million more headaches from management who support crappy and unprofessional workmanship if you dare complain.
Good morning, Rian. Thank you for your detailed review. I'm very sorry for the experience you've had with us. We're forwarding this onto the team right now so we can look into this.

My advice to you is not to install a new entry door during the winter time as unlike the window replacement, too much cold air came into the house and I was freezing my butt off! I had an install scheduled for mid December, and was told by the salesman at the time of purchase in September that the installation would be rescheduled if the temperature fell below 32 degrees; I was concerned because I didn't want the temperature inside my house to fall to uncomfortable temperatures. I checked the weather forecast a few days prior to the install and it called for sub 32 degree weather on the installation days so I called the install office to reschedule but was met by incredulity: "the salesman misspoke" said the install manager concerning sub 32 degree installations and they came as scheduled.
Ultimately the new windows and door will keep me warmer in winter and cooler in summer so I didn't argue with them and let the job proceed on schedule. It was very uncomfortable in the house while they replaced the entry door at an outside temperature of 10 degrees; they started the install when it was 3 degrees outside! The installers did a great job, were neat and courteous, and very skilled and I would give them a FIVE STAR RATING. The custom made windows and door are of very high quality and made an immediate difference in insulating my home from the cold. I would recommend Renewal by Andersen to anyone looking to upgrade their existing windows and doors. Just don't schedule the door replacement in cold weather no matter what they tell you.

We contracted one window and one sliding glass door. Waited about 6 weeks for installation to be scheduled. Installers were polite and cleaned up after themselves. Window was installed first, but the extra child lock was not in the truck to be installed. Then after our old sliding glass door was removed, the installers discovered that the parts for the frame of the new patio door were not correctly configured to fit together. The size was correct but the pieces did not fit correctly together. The installers modified the frame slightly and installed it, then put the sliding doors in place in a temporary installation. They used tape to seal it up. We cannot open the door. The company was unable to tell us how long it would be until the factory produced the correct parts, and a new install date could be set. We are in limbo with a door we cannot use.

The quality of the windows were the clear winner when comparing different brands. We feel confident that our investment will pay off in energy efficiency, longevity and during resale down the road. From the salesperson, Nada, to the head of installation, Daniel and everyone in between, the service met and exceeded our expectations. AND, we COMPLETELY changed the look of our home going from white windows to dark brown, it looks AMAZING!! Instant update!

While the windows are very good quality in general, the installation process left me wondering why anyone would pay such an extravagant amount of money for these windows and doors. I was promised that the house would be especially protected against lead dust since it was built in 1960. The project manager led me to believe that barrier curtain walls of plastic would be erected to contain the lead dust generated in the removal/demolition of the old windows. Half-hearted attempts at covering some of the furniture was done but no special precautions were taken to contain the dust. A thick layer of dust was left behind on all surfaces of our house necessitating a several day top to bottom cleaning of every surface in the house to protect our 3 year old granddaughter.
Overall the installation quality was pretty good, but the quality of the workmanship grew poorer as the project progressed and it appeared they were under orders to finish in 2 days rather than assure that all precautions were taken to leave a high quality finish. My finished, roof supporting beams were scarred by a sawzall and stained with expanding foam and caulk in their hurry to remove the old windows and install the new windows, doors and trim. In addition, an electric switch was pulled and the wires cut and not reattached. There were dents in the installation flanges and threshold of my nearly $10,000 sliding glass door. So far I have received no acceptable response from Andersen though I have contacted them several times. I would save my money and go a cheaper route because the U value of these windows is just middle of the road anyway - definitely disappointed in that.

My neighbor had Renewal by Andersen and he spoke so highly about the service. I thought that I would try them because I had heard from other people that some of the other companies weren't too reliable. Eric came for the sales visit and he was excellent. Afterward, Renewal sent me an A-team of installers who were very efficient. It was almost like watching a ballet. They went about their job, knew exactly what to do, and never bumped into each other. They did the sliding door in my dining room. The finished door slides so easily and it's not heavy to move. I love the double lock too. With the door, it really seems to be a lot warmer in the dining room than it was before. People should know that the doors, for the most part, are going to be custom-built and that takes time. This is more time sometimes than one would expect. But Renewal is pretty upfront about it when they start the procedure.

There was a lot of confusion between the salesperson and myself on exactly which package we bought and what "finish to drywall" meant. The installers came out and put the window in. It looked like crap. It was not what we thought $20,000 was going to be. They reached out to our salesperson, who in turn reached out to me immediately. They went way above and beyond to make sure that both myself and my wife were extremely happy with the project. They got some stuff out of their own trailer that they had extras of and put extra trim up on the whole thing. They were absolutely great.

We had windows installed in October. It went very well. This was our second phase because we did a couple last year, and then a couple this year. Nick was the sales guy or the guy that came out and showed us what type of window. He came out both times, last year and then this year, and very nice guy, professional, and knowledgeable. He took measurements.
I like the product, I like the service. The windows are a lot nicer and more energy efficient, not as drafty as the old one. Everybody is very courteous, professional, and they clean up very well after. What stood out for me was, maybe because I'm a female, everything was clean. I was there when they were in the middle of the project. There were things all over and wood. But I noticed when they were all gone, everything was clean, like they were never there. We probably have to do two more. We have a lot of windows. Use Renewal by Andersen.

I adore my design consultant, Elizabeth. I would adopt her as the granddaughter any second. Then Tony, the guy who came over to measure, was very nice. I was so surprised that both of them, on the days of installation, stopped by to see how things were going, which I did not expect. To me, their job was done. Elizabeth even brought me a bottle of wine, which was sweet. She and I were talking when she was selling but she wasn't like a used car salesman. I told her that she was the type of person that I wouldn't mind having a glass of wine with sometimes. It was a nice touch that she remembered. She was a nice young woman and she knew her stuff.
The prices from Renewal by Andersen were high. But I knew of two other families that had windows done by Renewal by Andersen, and they were very pleased with the quality of the windows and the workmanship. I had three windows and a very expensive patio door installed. I really liked the father and his two sons that were the installer. It was fun watching the father teaching his boys. And they were good boys, very polite and very respectful.
I was very happy with the installation. But I have to have somebody come by and adjust the patio door. It was stiff when they first installed it. But I thought it would loosen up and glide nicely. But it's just tight and I don’t wanna use any lubricant on there unless they recommend it or maybe readjust it. I had talked to my design consultant about it. Other than that, I would recommend Renewal by Andersen.

Renewal by Andersen made things easy. I live in a building complex here and they have told me that we have to go with them. We had an appointment with a sales rep and he was here on time. We had double-hung windows installed. Renewal by Andersen was very good with the timing, everything they did, and the cleanup.
We were told that installers were going to be here at a certain time and that was when they arrived. They had plastic down on all the carpeting. We were very meticulous about that. The fella was just excellent in managing the whole thing for him and his team. He just kept things moving and was very polite. So far, everything seems good. But after I got the windows, the shades did not fit any longer. So they’re installing new shades because of me getting new windows and I never thought about that. Renewal by Andersen is extremely expensive. I would have liked to have done two more windows and I really didn't feel comfortable doing that at this time. I would pick the one that had the best reputation and I could communicate with and Renewal by Andersen was really good. They have a very strong company and I'm very proud of them. There were three times that two different Hispanic guys came here and they just were outstanding. The last two guys came and they said that I owed $2,316. I told them that I already paid for that. So, I just showed my checkbook where I paid on what I had done. I paid $2,316 for the first two windows but I forgot that I had to pay for the second two windows. I was so embarrassed. But I was told not to worry about it and they would send us a bill. So, I already mailed it back to them a couple of days ago.

The quality of Andersen's product became really clear when a rep came out to give us an estimate and walk us through what made their windows different. He was really able to drive the point home. Even though their windows were a little more expensive than some of the other brands, the money we would save on our heating bills and the fact that their windows would be with us for a very long time made us make the choice to go with them.
The installation happened quicker than they estimated and went better than expected. I was expecting a lot of noise, chaos, dust and dirt. The guys who came were phenomenal and the installation was hardly noisy. We were able to work remotely the whole time they were at our place. Additionally, they cleaned up everything and they were super courteous. We are really pleased with Renewal by Andersen and we love their windows. I'd highly recommend Renewal to others. My neighbor works for Renewal. He used to work for Pella and he was pretty honest with me about Pella not providing as much customer service. I was looking for a certain quality and warranties, and the discount too. I also got some pretty good discounts with Renewal. He told me about both. The customer service is what sold me at the end of the day. I got a double-hung and a slider. Bill was sent over, and he sat down with us. I just told him, "You don't need to sell me. I just need to know how much it's gonna be financing that kind of stuff. How long, when can they start the basics?" He did bring a window and showed it to me but I had already actually seen it from my neighbor's truck.
Thomson Creek came by, and they were awful. They held me hostage for three hours. I was kinda pissed. I liked Renewal's honesty and they were willing to work with the ideas I had. The installation process was fine because my houses are side by side. I have two houses that I had done at the same time, so we just jumped from one house to the other. When they came in for one house, they took all the windows out at that house, installed the windows, then we jump back to that house and they went to the other house. There were two crews.
We really like the windows. The utility bills dropped. We're really happy with them. The cost was reasonable, and they worked with me on the financing. And when I had any issues after the installation like stuff that they didn’t see or I didn't see when they were done, they came right out and fixed them. After you get used to the windows, it started moving around. I had one that dropped down a little bit. The guy came over and he fixed it right away. There was no problem at all. The customer service is right on.

We purchased Andersen windows and doors for our home through Renewal by Anderson. Even though we had some installation issues, the franchisee addressed the installation problems and we really like our windows. However, we have a problem with the ones (west facing) that face our deck. These windows reflect the sun onto our patio such that we cannot use our deck until the sun goes down. We have called Renewal by Andersen and Andersen Windows (who told us they can't help because we purchased them thru Renewal by Anderson). The Renewal folks are similarly unable to seem interested in helping us with any suggestions.
We are sure the situation occurs from the SmartSun Low-E4 option we purchased, and we are just looking for a bit of advice or suggestions on any possible way to mitigate the reflection. Our deck gets so hot during summer days that we can't step out on our deck without burning our feet, and all our plants literally cook at the first sunny summer day we have. It is a design issue, and something potential customers should be aware of, but all we would like to hear is that someone at either company would consult with their engineers/designers for a possible mitigation suggestion. We have to believe other customers have similar issues....just hope our deck doesn't get so hot so as to catch fire....

We got a dining room window and a living window and a back door inside and screen. The salesman was excellent. Renewal by Andersen called and set up schedule for the installation. I knew it could take a little longer because of COVID, but it didn't take all that terribly long, so that was nice. The installers were really good. They came in and did their thing. They were very professional. They could've saved themselves some time if they put little bits of trash from windows into a barrel at the same time rather than leaving it go on the ground. But I let them do it their way because they were the ones that have to pick it up when they were done.
I am waiting on them to come back out. There are these little pegs that go in the window on the side and somehow they either got thrown away or they didn't have them. They said they'd drop them off the next day but they never did. So I called and Travis got right back to me and he said they will be dropping it off. Also, a window in the living room needs some caulking. Travis said if they don't show up today to get ahold of him and he'll come out and do it. But the team was very nice.
We spent around 10,000 on three window things and they're beautiful. The quality seems to be really, really good. I love the dining one especially, because it's in the same hole, so one would think you'd have the same view, but it's huge and it's glass. They don't have all that framework. We had typical windows side-by-side, and this is just unreal. It looks out over where we see deer out back. I like the back door too. It's different because of glass. From top to bottom, it is glass. It's really cool. It took me a few days to get used to because I kept thinking that I forgot to shut the door. I saw way too much light and I thought that the door was open. But we love it and our two labradors love it. When the inspector came out, he said, "When I saw it was a Renewal by Andersen, I was really relieved because I know the project's gonna be right." That's pretty high speaking to have an inspector say that about a company. So that was very good.

They kept their distance because of the COVID situation and wore their protective gear. They always asked permission to enter my house. They always required me to kinda be with them. So they were always on spot in terms of making me feel comfortable with them being inside my house.
We got the double-hung windows and the cost is pricey. But by the same token, you get what you paid for. The salesman explained the product from top to bottom. He was extraordinary. We had a very good salesman in that regard. Their people at corporate headquarters constantly followed up if I had any questions. One of my questions was after the windows were made was that if they could bump it up to the point where I can have it like two weeks earlier. They did take care of me on that. The first guy who did the measuring kinda screwed up a few things, but the next guy fixed it, so it worked out. We did four sliders and a picture window with casements and a door. They said the job would take one day and we thought that was absolutely crazy. There was no way. But they did it in a day. We were shocked.
The guys who did the installation were really awesome. They went above and beyond in a few things. We kinda had a plan going in and it didn't really work in a few instances, so we talked about it, and they took my suggestions. I was very impressed with them. I was very happy with my crew. We had taken down all curtains in the house and took out 3 air conditioning window units preparing for this delivery date. This was cumbersome and time consuming. The windows were rescheduled to be installed on August 3rd.
We were also not satisfied with financing arrangements for our windows. We ordered the windows on March 8th and made a deposit that date. We obtained 0% financing for 2 years as part of our agreement. Poor execution, shoddy workmanship. Expectation 1 maybe 2 days to install. Actual time from the first appointment to install to the last attempt to fix the botched install from April 30th to July 7th. When they first arrived they started and realized they needed to cut a couple of inches of concrete and tile from my floor and would return the next week with the proper tools. Thus began this unfortunate choice of vendors. My porch remodel was on hold for 2 months. The end result one sliding glass done well and the other done in a shoddy manner.
Clearly, the initial measurement on the badly done door was defective and the workers had to struggle to make a too-small door fix the actual space. This resulted in an exterior gap on both sides of 1/2 to 3/4 inch that was filled in with a caulking compound. The top flashing on the doors was left off. On the inside, the trim was 1/2" from the wall on one side and the other side the edge of the trim was at the edge of the drywall. You could see the cavity behind the trim. The drywall was damaged by the attempt to nail the trim at an angle because there was no wood behind the trim.
Anderson tile person explained damaged tile that could not be repaired without tearing up the entire floor, so he covered up with a piece of home depot metal trim. For some reason that is unknown to me, I had to wait a month for the install team to return. Throughout the process, I was given one Hobson choice after another, e.g. Do you want the gap between the wall or a visibly crooked install? Do you want the trim to cover the edge and have a visible black piece of weather stripping or not visible weather stripping and the visible cavity? Do you want the visible damage to the tile or a piece of metal stripping to cover it up? Choose between two unacceptable options.
When the team left I got the worst of both worlds with trim that looks like a weekend DIY project. The trim does not fit together, there are new gaps in all the wood pieces. They offered to caulk the gaps unless I was going to stain, then the painter I hired could fix their mess. I kept hearing excuses to rationalize a crappy process as well as a crappy outcome. That I was somehow unreasonable to expect good workmanship. I asked various members of the team if this is the kind of work you would do at your mother's home or if you would display this at the home and garden show to exhibit the type of work Anderson is capable of doing. I believed the Anderson salesperson regarding the quality and speed of execution, he spent a lot of time on the google review site touting the customer approval ratings.
Anderson was expensive but, I chose Anderson because I wanted a good job done fast. Imagine my surprise when I got a bad job done slowly over months instead of a day with a high price tag. I was in purchasing management for a number of years, I had a sign on the wall that read "The bitterness of poor quality remains long after the sweetness of low price is forgotten." Not only did I get poor quality, but I also got a high price.

We received glowing reviews from a neighbor in Maryland and requested an estimate to get 19+ windows for our home. The young sales agent came out and after 3 hours was frustrated. We wouldn't sign a contract for $60K in windows sold for $30-40K with so-called discounts. We wanted to resize 3 windows and also add a gliding door to a solid basement wall, so we needed to consult a mason. They kindly offered an affordable mason. But when we asked the sales agent to price out 5 different door and window options for our basement wall, he balked at the work involved and couldn't price the 5 options and send us an email with individual prices for each. Note, they never give you the individual cost breakdown for anything. Only a lump sum and how the total cost will increase or decrease according to what you do. This makes it impossible to calculate the total cost to buy/install each unique window.
Their sales agent insisted he'd have to come out again. He was unable to give us any printed sales numbers and constantly held his iPad with the app that configures all pricing. The app they use is like a cartoon, so all mock-ups are digital renderings, not actual photos (much like their website). So, we asked what things would look like and were only shown cartoon-like images of a door that would cost thousands. Agent came back for a 2nd visit and was hoping we'd sign the contract for $30K+ in windows without giving us more details we needed. He wasn't expert enough to discuss the finishing in the inside or the outside to the degree that we wanted. Like what kind of inside trim would they use and what external capping, etc. We asked for a more senior sales agent who could meet our need for more information and pricing. That's when things fell apart.
We called the only phone number on the Renewal by Andersen website and got a woman with a thick New Orleans sounding accent who was the worst customer service agent ever! She immediately got defensive about us asking for a new sales rep. When we asked if she could have someone from the HQ (headquarters) call us to arrange a new sales agent, she refused to confirm that she would (because she wouldn't). She said she would tell her 'supervisor.' Clearly, as another review below points out, they have a system of checks and balances to prevent anyone from reaching the HQ with complaints. Renewal is a subsidiary and I doubt they want angry customers calling ANDERSEN or ANDERSEN RENEWAL's coveted management staff. So, a few days later, we receive and miss a call from the 'District Sales Manager' for Maryland.
We leave him 2 messages in a span of 1 weeks and he never calls us back! Literally, he didn't want our $30k-$40K in business! Totally unbelievable that they act like a cult and cut you out if you don't follow their rules to stay with 1 sales rep and sign the contract within a week of meeting them. Renewal has a franchise structure, so each location is owned by a franchise owner.
The installation teams are allegedly not full-time employees, so the installation is subcontracted out to local teams who Renewal supposedly trains in some regard. You can see reviews from a lot of people in Colorado, Alaska, and California who have horrible install teams, etc. So, it's hit or miss if you are going to get the premium product and service you expect for the premium price you are paying. Because we never heard back from the Regional Manager after 2 calls, we opted to drop Renewal. We are looking at Marvin windows and/or having a contractor install Andersen 400 series for us instead. Note, the website for Renewals has 2+ job listings for sales reps they want to hire, and it tries to lure new hires telling them they can make $100-200K a year (from commission).
Hi Bonnie- Thank you for taking the time to leave a review, we are disappointed to hear of your experience. We apologize for the lack of follow up and care. We understand you choosing to have windows installed from someone other than us. Please note: I will be passing this along not only the local team, but also our management teams. We appreciate the opportunity to improve in the future. Thank you.

The issues with the picture window and drywall have been resolved satisfactorily, thanks to the efforts of the customer service representative from RbA Colorado, Jason **. After posting my complaints, Mr. ** contacted me within days and arranged to have an inspection done of the window installation and drywall around the picture window and double sliding doors. Following that inspection, one of the original installers returned to the house a couple of weeks later to literally straighten things out. He agreed that the installation had been done improperly and was able to adjust the picture window and adjoining casement windows so that they were finally in alignment. He also solved the problem of how the mulls should be finished so that when he left, the windows looked the way they were intended to look from the start.
Original Review: June 18, 2020
I have to say that my experience with Renewal by Andersen (RBA) has been the most frustrating and unpleasant experience I've ever had with a company of its size and reputation. The installation of the windows we ordered last July was finally completed Saturday, June 13th, although I’m having to do a lot of cleanup work myself to truly finish the job. In addition, much of the workmanship, when it finally got done, was shoddy at best.
The original installation was scheduled for October 30th, 2019, but had to be cancelled because the engineer hired by RBA did not do his job and get a building permit. I didn’t hear a thing from the company so in December, I called to see what the status of the installation was. There was still no building permit. That took a few more weeks. Finally, and only after complaining, did permit get issued and the installation rescheduled in early January.
That installation had to be canceled because no one at the RBA office heeded my warning that the roads to our house required 4-wheel drive and snow tires/chains. The installers never made it past the first hill, so had to reschedule for January 17th. The one good thing I can about my experience is when the installers finally did make it they were efficient and even put in several windows during a snowstorm (which could have been avoided had the engineer done his work in the first place). Still, as mentioned below, there’s a problem with the installation of the main picture window.
Once the installation and inspection was completed, I waited for the drywallers to show up or at least hear from your company as to when they would be scheduled to finish the job. Nothing for weeks. Finally, I called to see what was going on and was given the answer that the drywall crews were backlogged but RBA would get someone out to take care of finishing the project. The guy that showed up a couple of weeks later to look things over didn’t even know what job he had been asked to do, didn’t know he was completing work for RBA, didn’t understand how the sliding doors worked, and had never worked for RBA before. It only took a couple of days for me to figure out why. He starting working February 20th and I fired him on February 22 because the work was so sloppy and unprofessional.
After complaining to RBA once again about the problems I was having with the drywall, RBA sent out a new drywall guy and the installer to look at the work and both agreed it was substandard. I also pointed out to the installer that the large picture window isn’t plumb and leans a bit away from the house rather than flush with the siding. He assured me it was fine. I don’t agree.
The new drywall guy got caught up in some personal issues, had to stop after doing the demolition of the previous drywaller’s work, and then couldn’t come out because of the pandemic. Once he started again, it took him four and a half weeks to finish the job because he only showed up once a week. This whole time the entire upper floor of our house except the kitchen was unusable. When he finally finished he explained why he didn’t just show up on consecutive days to finish the job. He’s not a drywaller - he runs a heating and cooling shop, which he was trying to keep afloat. Also, he said this was the second time he had to bail out a RBA project, but he’d never work for them again because he was never paid for the first job! He figured he wouldn’t get paid for this job either. I can’t blame him for being unenthusiastic about the work if it’s not his specialty and he figures he won’t get paid!
I’ve spent the last two days cleaning up the mud and texture sprayed on the baseboard, windows and doors because they were not covered properly. I’m reinstalling the baseboard trim, although the contract says this is RBA’s responsibility. I’ve also taken a lot of photos to document the poor quality of the work. For $51,000, I would expect things to at least be done “within industry standards", as RBA claims they will do in the contract. I would also expect the work to be done in a timely manner, again something RBA claims they will do in the contact. Yes, RBA could not anticipate the delay caused by the pandemic, but that only accounted for 2 months of the 7-month delay in completing the project. It is because two people RBA hired and who did not do their work properly that we had to wait so long before the project was finally finished, albeit poorly.
For all the bombast about being professionals, RBA never once contacted me to see how things were progressing, even after they were aware that I was unhappy with the service. I also never felt I had a contact person - I recall calling five different people listed as contacts at one point and not one person answered their phone. It took days before anyone called me back, and then only one of the five did. Because of the inconvenience, the poor quality work, and the fact that RBA did not uphold its terms of the contract, I would recommend that you hire someone else and avoid this company.

We had 6 windows replaced on April 6, 2020. The glass in one slider window was broken in shipment but installed in our home. We were notified of its broken condition after installation. We were told by the installer the broken component would be replaced in three weeks. When the broken component was not installed in three weeks, we contacted the area representative and were told the component would be replaced much later on May 22, 2020. We were later told the component would not be installed on May 22 and a replacement date has not been set. Andersen still sells windows in our area but cannot finish our job. We have been looking at this window and have applied finish to the frames of all other windows except this one. It is an unsightly mess. The product is basically good but the installation service is terrible.
Hi Thomas - thanks so much for letting us know about your situation. I'm terribly sorry for the inconvenience. I'll be passing along your feedback to the team in your area right now so they can look into this further for you.

I scheduled an appointment with Renewal by Andersen because I was tired of the cold calls. I wanted them to stop cold-calling me. But once they were here, I was really sold on their reliability, message, and guaranties. I had met with them once before and I wasn't super wowed but this time, it was phenomenal. I learned so much more than I did last time. I ended up getting a bay window and double-hung windows for the front of my house. They've been communicating with me very well about when they are going to the warehouse.

We're pretty limited here in Wyoming so we only had a few people to choose from. Renewal by Andersen was the first one who returned our call and came and gave us a quote. Their products seemed to be higher quality and worth doing. Also, they were an easy company to work with. They installed a new sliding glass door and they also put in a bay window, where we previously had just had a large picture window.
In Wyoming, the weather is horrible about half a year. The installers came from a town about two hours away. They originally scheduled us for the beginning to middle of February and we had a blizzard that shut down the entire state. That was the only reason they couldn't come exactly when they planned. But they came shortly thereafter. We were really surprised that they were willing to work. It was five degrees and the poor guys were outside, cutting holes in the house and putting in the new windows. They were great to work with. They were really professional and kind, and they dealt with the fact that I have four children and a small dog very well. They had to come back a month or two later to finish the roofing job over the window and do some other things with the sliding door just because of the temperature issues.
Our previous windows were very drafty. You could sit and sort of feel the wind blow if you were anywhere near them. Our new ones are wonderful. You don't feel anything from outside. The heat all stayed in the house. The windows are beautiful and easy to clean, and they're pretty durable. We have only had the the sliding door about a month and we had a dog run into it and knocked it off its track, but the screen didn't break. Everything is fine. We were able to put it right back. So, we're really impressed with the quality of everything.

I worked with Renewal because their product is far superior and because of their track record. The gentleman that came out here was fantastic. That was the wealth of knowledge. I purchased the slider windows and the timeline they gave is reasonable since they have to make them per order and in light of the current situation.

Our house was built in ’92 and one of the windows on the patio door was fogged over and it was like 30 years old. Andersen windows are currently in the house and we called them to give us a quote at replacing the patio door. They were very prompt and the gentleman was extremely helpful. The only thing was to have a full patio door and to have it replaced, the cost was more than what we wanted to spend.

I heard from co-workers about Renewal by Andersen and I also did general research online. I think Andersen has better quality than other windows. We had them install windows in the whole house. We had two different installments, one last year and one this year. They gave us timelines and they were early in both cases. They were both done well too.
The installation was fine although they had a couple of issues the second time. But they came back and fixed them all. One issue was a pane came out of the box with cracks. They had a replacement sent via FedEx later on but it came that way out of the box. It was no big deal, though. It was only one pane and it’s double pane so they got it fixed and replaced within four weeks. We're good now. The quality has been great. Renewal by Andersen was very professional and it was good doing business with them. I would recommend them again.

Do not get fooled by fancy salesperson, fancy demos and all the promises made. One of the biggest factors in choosing Andersen was the level of service they supposedly provide. From the day after the salesperson left with our money, the service was terrible. Lack of communication to set up follow up appointments, inaccurate window counts, and install date problems were just the beginning of issues. We had no clue whether the install date was going to happen until the crew showed up (with no phone call). When the crew got there, the paperwork was missing so they had to guess which windows go in which spot. They guessed wrong and had to redo two windows. There were also several issues with the install quality, which was eventually pointed out by the supervisor. The crew had to waste another day redoing all these windows.
Then it turns out 2 out of the 20-something windows were the wrong color - but the old windows were already taken out so they had to be installed anyway. It is like, really? How does that happen - what kind of QA is in place on the assembly line and order packaging and shipping to not catch that? I still haven't heard from anyone on any timeline to fix the issue and for the money paid, I can say this was not worth it.
The only positive thing is that the install crew was really nice and respectful and just a good group of guys. The windows are nice, but all-in-all, I should have just went with one of the big box competitor. I feel like an idiot for overpaying for service that is a total lie. Quality of windows is nice, but honestly, I really doubt it is so much more superior than others so it really isn't worth it. Trust me - save yourself several thousand dollars and just call someone like Wallside or whatever. Do more shopping around, don't believe the sales pitch and get suckered like I was.

The Andersen sales rep did a good job because honestly, I wasn't looking at purchasing but we bought four different panes and a sliding door. I was not looking at doing that much, but since this house was built in 1955, he talked with us about energy kind of conservation and the house being warmer. I don't know that much about structure windows so I didn't know what I wanted or what to do. He explained things and he was patient. He told us was that when the seal around the windows gets old, it gets moisture in there, and then you can't get rid of it. When you look at your window it's not clear.
Around February the sliding door was really heavy and kind of stuck. My partner was fine about it and said that it will loosen up. We just need to keep using it. I'm 65 years old. I'm not that strong. I didn't want to have a workout every time I open the sliding door. The company called and I didn't think anybody was going to follow up. They brought somebody out here and they didn't charge us. They loosened it up a little bit and the door was easier to open which was all I wanted. For the amount of money I paid, I would have been pretty upset if they didn't come back and make it right, and they did.
Our room is big and kind of vaulted ceilings, and there's a lot of south-facing windows. We wanted the seal to be tight, so we didn't get the draft. It wasn't freezing cold in those rooms and that's been good. You can see out the windows and they're very clear and have no little rainbow things that you see sometimes. We're really happy with them.

Updated on 04/27/2020: I am following up on my recent negative review of April 16, 2020. On April 17 under the direction of Joe **, an Install Manager, based in Northborough, MA, a crew headed by “Greg” came to reinstall the $9000 leaking window that was installed in April 2019. They assured me the leak was remedied this time, but sure enough ten days later my tenants found the window leaking again. Mind you this is after a leak was to have been remedied last July 2019, then again in January 2020, and finally now in April 2020. Numerous crews have been sent out over and over again.
When I called Joe to tell him the window was leaking yet again he said when they reinstalled the window ten days ago they didn’t have the correct weatherstripping. Even though he knew that, he didn’t tell us. What he did tell us was that if the window leaked again it was probably because the weather stripping had shrunk as it does over time. Learning of this recent leak, he said he will get back to me after checking to see if the thicker weatherstripping is in stock. So we wait again in rainy weather as the window drips down the wall and pools on the sills no doubt causing more damage to the walls and trim. Joe should have been proactive and told us the truth that the crew didn’t have the correct weatherstripping and that a crew would come back as soon as it was in stock. I continue to be very upset with Renewal by Andersen’s handling of this issue and recommend that you think twice about hiring them for your window needs.
Original review: Renewal by Andersen installed a $9000 picture window in my rental property last April 2019. At the beginning of July 2019 my tenants noticed the window was leaking in several places at which time I called the Service Department. It is now April 2020, a year from installation, and the window is still leaking. We have had multiple visits from various service people within the company, all purporting to be the most knowledgeable and talented. The window is leaking more than it did before! A crew is coming tomorrow and management has promised to remedy the poor installation, but I have lost all faith in Renewal by Andersen‘s expertise. I am extremely disappointed with the improper installation and will never use Renewal by Andersen again.

Updated on 05/01/2020: This is a follow up to the review I left on April 16, 2020. Renewal by Andersen prides itself on quality customer service and I have received anything but! My 4 windows were installed on 12/05/19 for $15,190 and they have been leaking ever since. After service appointments in January (2nd attempt) and February (3rd attempt) the problems still existed. After numerous phone calls and emails Scott ** the service manager sent out a "senior installer" (4th attempt). Who told me that the original installers did not seal the PVC drip cap to the trim as there should have been a flange on top of the drip cap and there was not. Please see the window picture below.
The discoloration on the window pane is from the poor installation. It was two man job so I had to make yet another appointment. These windows were not installed correctly by whatever sub-contractor in CT that Andersen hired. It has been a complete nightmare dealing with this company. I am a repeat customer of the recent past and so is my family. We have spent thousands on this product and have never had issues like this before. The product is superior but the terrible subcontractors that this company uses are awful.
The amount of aggravation I have had to go through dealing with this situation abhorrent. I even had to go out in the Pandemic to deal with this. This is customer service and satisfaction? When I complained they did nothing. They said it was my siding on the house. When I asked too for a discount on the windows they refused. They just lost several repeating customers. Will never use this company again. Very, very disappointed and dissatisfied.
Original Review: Replacement windows installed 12/05/19. Leaking in January. Two follow-up appointments with "technicians". I've been told that the cause of the problem is the siding on my house runs vertically instead of horizontally. They recommend I replace the siding on my home! This is absurd! The previous windows were there for 35 years. No leaks. These windows are the wrong size. Just spent $15,000 on leaky windows! Customer service is awful!! Salesman was rude. They have been giving me the run around since installation.
Hi Carla- I am sorry to hear about your clearly negative experience with us. I will escalate this to the proper team right away. Thank you!

Dealing with Renewal by Andersen is the worst home improvement experience I have ever had. Our salesman, Andy (Anthony), entered into the contract the wrong color for the sliding door and 2 of 5 windows. The wrong color of the 2 windows was caught before installation and were refabricated (or so they say). However, the door was installed and they refuse to replace it. The fix is painting it. If I would have wanted a painted door, I would have just painted the old one and saved myself $6,000!!!!
Beware if you plan on ordering a sliding door from them as well. The header and sill are gray. The outside color protrudes inside at the sides. Then there is the door color. Yes, that 3 distinct colors that you see from the inside – looks terrible. Installation is done by a 3rd party contractor. The 2 replacement windows were done professionally. However, the 3 windows and door were not. Get ready for hand prints on the wall, uneven chalk done with dirty fingers, ripped up sills, paint on curtains, etc. They move outdoor items for access and don’t put them back.
Renewal by Andersen will give you 3 prices – sign now (least expensive), good for 1 month, and good for 1 year (most expensive). If you are still thinking of using Renewal by Andersen, do your homework first and get competitive pricing. Remember that they are not an Andersen company as the name suggests. You can do a google search for reputable contractors that can also install Andersen windows.

They did a great job and we were very happy. The whole process was wonderful, so I thank them. Then, we continued to get phone calls and emails from Andersen soliciting us to get windows. But we already ordered windows, so that was a little irritating. They also did it more than once. So there seems to be a disconnect between the part of the company where they came out and sold us the windows as well as the ones installing, and the rest of the company that was still trying to sell us windows. Other than that, we love our windows.
So happy to hear of your positive experience, Michelle!

Scheduled an appointment in person. Talked with someone over the phone and confirmed the appointment on the same day. Sales team called my phone several times while I was traveling over the weekend. I messaged back that I couldn’t talk but I would be home for the appointment on Monday. Even after texting back I saw that I had missed several calls when I checked my phone late Sunday night. I just now called to make sure there wasn’t a change and was told that they did get my text message but unfortunately they needed to talk to me again and now they no longer have a consultant available for today so they would have to reschedule. I changed my schedule to be home for the appointment so I found this extremely irritating and unprofessional. Hopefully this will not happen with the other window companies in the area. Just an FYI The gentleman that I met with and scheduled an appointment with originally was kind and professional.
Hi April, I am sorry to hear that your appointment needed to be rescheduled. I understand the frustration. We appreciate the your feedback, as it helps us get better. I will make sure to pass this along to our team in TX. Again, I am sorry for your experience with us, I hope you find a company that can help you complete your project. Thank you!

I purchased windows and doors from RBA and it was an excellent experience. We had to move up the timeline though. We were supposed to have it done before Christmas but they weren't able to get started until the end of January. Everything was manufactured custom for my house but there was a production issue. For the installation, the crew showed up about the middle of the week and about a week in, they had done a substantial amount of work. Then the following week, they came back and by Thursday they were all done and gone.
I have used these doors and doorknobs every day and everything works fine. Plus, there's a big difference in heating one particular room because of the new windows and doors. We replaced a not-so-energy-efficient slider and that made a big difference. The general appearance is so much better too and everybody likes it from the outside.
Hi George- I am so happy to hear about your experience! Enjoy your new windows!

The rep who came out to tell me about Renewals by Andersen, the one who came out to do the measuring and the one who did the work were completely wonderful. There was another fellow who came with the leader and he was wonderful too but he just did his work and didn’t say too much. I had two basement windows put in and they were the big sliders. I've lived here since '67 and so, I've probably had quite a few Menards windows that people would just come and put in. Renewal by Andersen went and took the Menards out of my kitchen and put them down the basement, so I have corner windows by my sink. I had four sets of windows by the sink and then I finally had a porch put on.
I have a patio door that opens and that has been Andersen all along. I've had no trouble except that the deck rotted out with ants, so it ate through the casing on the bottom. When I had that replaced, I had another Andersen put in there. The rep told me that it would be the last windows I would ever have to put down there and that sounds wonderful. RbA did fair with me on the price as well.

We have been through so much and all they care about is themselves.
Hi Apolonia- I am sorry to hear about your experience, it sounds rather disheartening. Can you please let me know if you purchased with Renewal by Andersen or if you purchased Andersen Windows through a contractor? While we have similar products, we are different businesses. My whole house was installed with Renewal by Andersen windows and doors, so I could say I have been a customer for a long time. But this time, it really disappointed me. Basically my windows on the third floor by the street are not as soundproof as before. Because the whole house was installed with Renewal by Andersen products, it is so obvious there is something wrong with it. I called the customer service, they kept saying that is because the street is busier/my hearing becomes more sensitive. But if this is the case, why didn't I complaint about the ones on the second and first floor? They finally sent someone to check, and the technician also confirmed my findings and agreed to come back to me later, but NEVER. Yesterday, there was a salesperson selling their product again, but how could I trust this company again?
Good morning, Naihan. Thanks for reaching out to us. While our windows are not "soundproof" they definitely do help to cut down on noise. I'll have the team reach out to you as soon as they can to talk about your specific situation. Thank you for your patience.

Renewal by Andersen's customer service is second to none. They delivered on everything they said they would. They followed up and kept you involved in the entire process. The scheduling was very good too. We bought the sliders and they took the old ones out and popped those in. They took less than a day. However, there was one little hiccup, but they came up with an acceptable solution and everything was good. The windows are excellent and it matched Renewal by Andersen's level of service. They're not the least expensive solution out there, but you kinda get what you pay for.

I was very pleased with Renewal by Andersen's project. We had a total of four windows, upstairs and the bay window downstairs. They provided everything they’ve said they would and are very organized people, which helps a lot. They're very clean when the work is done. A couple of years ago, I had three windows done upstairs because of a recommendation. They cut the old ones out and dropped them in. It was smooth and they did a great job, so I knew where to go the second time. I wanted to replace the big window in the den, and then we added a couple other windows. The recent job they did was a result of the success of the first job. Renewal has thought of everything. They’ve done it before so nothing new. I saw down a block away that they just redid an entire house so word is definitely getting around. I would recommend them to anyone that has a bunch of old windows that need to be replaced.

We looked into a few different companies and we determined that Andersen was our best option. Their installers were here when they said they would be here and they told me it would take about four days. And they finished when they said they would. We also love the products and their quality is great. We got one slider, a bow, a picture window, and a couple of the double-hung. All in all, my experience with them was awesome. There were a few issues but they came back and took care of them right away. And since then, everything’s been great.

We were interested in replacing one window and with the other companies, they wanted us to do more than just one window. But RBA was willing to do one window. We had an in-home consultation and the person who came was lovely. The reps are very knowledgeable and very well-trained. But the presentation was a little long. I have a small child and that makes hosting someone in my home for two hours to sell a product very challenging 'cause this little person needs my attention. They also wanted all the homeowners involved so my partner had to be here.
It was very much a sales presentation but we had already decided this was the product that we wanted so they didn't really have to sell it to us. I totally understand though. But before coming in, they should determine whether a customer is on the fence about their product. Some people are exploring their options and maybe RBA are in competition with Pella or something else so they need those two hours to change the customer's minds. But I was not in that place and I was decided on Andersen. It was just which window am I gonna do and when am I gonna do it so I totally did not need that the presentation at the time.
We ended up going with a slider. We did the Fibrex composite windows, which was another selling point for us. We have an older home and the previous owner have replaced most of the windows in the home with other inexpensive vinyl and let some of the original 1940s windows for us to deal with. And so, trying to figure out the cost-benefit analysis between inexpensive vinyl doesn't last a long time, or more expensive wood or metal windows that have a longer life, the composite was a good option. And we knew that Andersen was one of the top choices for that.
The installation was so easy and awesome. I was surprised it took one person and he showed up on time. He was very nice, quick, quiet and clean. I almost cried when he was done. It was so beautiful. I've never been so excited to see a window before. It was installed in our basement, which we're slowly renovating. Basements are cold 'cause there's no insulation down there. And I really feel like, even without the insulated walls, the window has made a big difference in the comfort and temperature down there. I'm very happy. They are on the pricier side of replacement windows so that's not for everybody and having to do the consultation part is a little bit of a challenge. But once we were in the process of the project, it was great and very painless.

We ordered 2 sets of large sliding doors and some trapezoid windows, approximately 30,000$ worth, in August 2019. I was put off by the hard sales pitch which I equated to buying a used car but finally agreed knowing the discount was only available to us “that day”. Even after saying we wanted to think about it, the team went to lunch around the corner and waited for us to make a decision. Fine, reviews were good and it was a project we had wanted to do for a while. (We had Milgard windows previously and they were terrible!) I understand manufacturing timelines but the install was not scheduled until November.
The install process was beset by one issue after another but finally completed in November however one of the doors was defective and had to be reordered. The doors wouldn’t lock and there were several trips to rectify other issues. In addition, the installers destroyed our wood deck and we have had to redo at our own expense. Calls to sales person to express our disappointment went unheard, obviously he already had his commission.
The door was finally re-installed in January however the locking issue is still a problem. In the meantime a major leak was noted due the install to floor below and the water ran in through the top of one of the doors. To their credit, service calls continue to occur with the last one last week to fix the floor leak and the service agent indicating that service is number one priority but a new locking mechanism will need to be ordered. This will probably be service call #10. And to boot, it rained today, all of 20 minutes in So. Cal and the rain poured in from the top of the other windows. So frustrating. All that money but really, doesn’t seem to be justifiable given the issues and lack of ability to resolve 3 months after install that we’ve had..and continue to have. Would not recommend.

I purchased 7 windows and 3 doors from Andersen last summer and were placed in Sept. They were quick completing the installation in 2 days, but did not do the best job of sealing around the windows. They used foam from a can and which created gaps where wind and water could come in. I also had problems opening and closing the door. I had them come back out to make the corrections which took about 3 weeks. During that time I showed them another issue with my from door and stated there were issues and also at that time one larger window had a chip in the frame that he stated they would take care of. I was told it would take a few weeks to get a replacement window and return.
Halloween came and went, Thanksgiving came and went, Christmas came and went and Martin Luther Kings Birthday came and went and not Andersen. During the Winter my doors would freeze shut and would not open. When we were able to open the door, we took a hair dryer to melt the ice on the sides of the door. To lock and unlock the door we had to use our whole body weight to push against the door to pull the bolt forward and back, this was impossible for my wife and grandson, which meant they had to go to the garage and exit the house through the garage door. The Windows are nice, they still get ice on the inside like my old double pain, but one a 1/3 of what we were use to.

I had been looking at their ads since then and I decided to go with them. Plus a friend of mine got a patio door and a couple windows done in her living room. So, she loved it. I looked at hers and I liked it.
The first guy that came out and interviewed me was a very good representative. He was a very nice young man. He was knowledgeable, very hospitable and helpful. Any questions that I asked, he was welcome and open to all of them. He explained everything to me, how to open and close, lock, pull-down and all of that stuff.
In my rec room, I had a small window in there and a sliding glass window, and up above that is my bedroom where I had two bedroom windows done there. The timeline was convenient for me because I’m a school bus driver and I was on winter break then. They came in and they said, “What about New Year’s Eve?” And I said, “That’s fine.” He said, “You don’t have any plans?” It worked out. I didn’t have any plans so it was fine for me. I was already off, so it was very convenient. They cleaned up everything. They put the plastic on the walkway. They didn’t bother me not one bit. I didn’t even know they were there. I sat in the kitchen doing my mail. It was very quick. Everything was fantastic.

Renewal By Andersen claims to be another arm of Andersen Windows. I am not sure this is really the case. Let's jump to the end. Closer asks me “is there any reason you will not sign the contract right now?” My response, ”other than that I am not STUPID and don’t make RASH DECISIONS, no!” Then I showed him the door.
Okay let's back up some. The closer gives us a pitch, walks the house with his tablet picking windows for each of my 13 double hungs, and a couple of large Palladian windows. Closer spends 10 minutes of my wife and my time ignoring us and working hard on his tablet. Then he shows me a number…Fifty Three Thousand dollars. No detail showing what I get for 53K. Immediately he drops the price ten grand and asks me the question above and is shown the door.
He would not itemize anything. How much the big and small DH or the nonopening DH cost… How many of each he bid, No breakdown for the 10x8 or 8x6 Palladians. No information on the windows… In fact this closer (said he was with Renewal by Andersen for 3 years) did not know what the U-Factor is. Not that he did not know the U factor specs for his windows he just quoted me, but I am sure this closer did not even know what U-Factor IS. This much I did get from his presentation.
1) The frames the windows are in (including inside molding and outside brick molding and sill (most likely places for windows to leak) will not be touched.2) Just the minimal old window (the glass and the part holding the glass) is replaced.
3) All of their installers are drug tested, but he could not tell me if the installers were their installers or day laborers or contractors.
4) No information regarding insurance, the company licensing here in my city.
5) No itemized offer was provided.
I do not trust this company to do any kind of waterproofing, or guarantee of damage caused by not doing the replacement right. I would never hire them or recommend them. Phil **, Duluth GA, Feb 2020.

Essentially, the original crew installed the windows themselves okay, but, the finish work inside and out was Completely unacceptable. The job had so many defects in workmanship that there is not enough room in this paragraph. Well, it turned into quite the ordeal. A number of ineffective Fixers were sent out to examine my issues and attempt to correct them. So FINALLY a couple guys were sent and they remedied the worst of the interior issues. Same with the outside, FINALLY, a Foreman and small crew came and redid the exterior work. Now, they knew their work and fixed it all promptly. Turns out that I don't like the windows that much either. So for top money I did not get a top job. I will not buy from Andersen Renewal again.

We had Andersen windows and door installed at our house and it was an incredible challenge from start to finish. It took me getting frustrated and having to escalate to the Senior VP of the local franchise in Phoenix. The communication was very poor. The product is good for what it’s worth, but for the premium you pay, it was a really poor experience customer service-wise. One of the windows was measured wrong, and we had to get it reordered, which is fine. That didn’t bother me. But then our sliding door was installed improperly, and it took an extra three months with no communication and us continuing to call them. It’s not about the fact that there were issues, but the service from that particular franchise. I’m sure that if I was in a different region and I had a different Andersen, it would have been great. And if I had a friend in Columbus, Ohio who wanted windows, I’d say, “Go for it,” because it’s a different franchise.
When I finally escalated it, the Senior VP was pretty good. But he was an executive that had to get involved with his team that couldn’t manage something. I would’ve expected that more from not the premier window and door company, where I could’ve spent half the price. Andersen's products are not budget-friendly, so we spent a lot of money on them, but unfortunately, the experience was awfully poor. The customer service people seemed like they hated their jobs. On every phone call to schedule to do anything, we asked them to update their system to have my wife’s number, and we've told them that probably 10 times. But even now, six months later, they still have my number in the system. I hope they improve because the experience was a shame. We only did half of our house, and my wife is like, “I don’t care if our windows don’t match. We’re not using Andersen again.”

The salesperson came out, he was wonderful and told us all the reasons why Andersen windows were the best. But if we had to do things over again, we would've gone with a different window. We did $15,000 worth of windows. We only did because they were expensive, but they're large windows, They were windows that we have here in our den and also in the master bedroom. One of the features that Andersen thinks is a great thing is that with the windows that we chose, without really realizing that it was going to be the case, the base slid to the middle. So you have a place that's open on the right and on the left of each window if you have the windows open. They meet in the middle. They offered that as a desirable feature that we would love.
That turned out to be a major pain in the rear end for us. We're seniors, and even if we weren't, we shouldn't have to use all of our energy to try to shut our windows. As it turns out, once you would close the windows, they would not meet in the middle where the lock was. There was some kind of compression, which, again is because of the way the windows are manufactured and they're double-pane. Except to try to lock the window, you had to force the right side into the casing and force the left side into the casing and then try to get the lock to line up so that the latch would in fact activate. Because of the pressure of the windows, if you slid the right one right, then the one on the left would pop out. And if you slid the one left in, then the right one would pop out. I literally could not force the window to go both ways so that I could lock the lock.
We called and complained because we dreaded leaving the house because it meant dealing with the windows. Initially, they didn't have handles on the windows. So we're trying to just use the frame of the window to use enough power to get them into the window casing to lock. The rep said, "Let us come out and we'll put handles on the windows so you at least have something to hold onto." They came and did that, and that was a joke. All it did was give us a place to hold onto, but we still didn't have the strength to close the windows.
We tried to work with it. They told us that maybe in a while, with us working the windows back and forth, they would become more user-friendly. That didn't work. So we had them for a few months. I called back and said, "This is just not working for us, to pay this much money for windows. We hate these darn windows." They said, "Let's try one other thing. What we can do is we can screw the window into the frame of the window on one side, so that it can't pull out anymore so that only the one side slides back and forth."
We had to wait for a period of time because they had to order some adjustments to the window and they had to order new screens because somehow, that was gonna impact how the screens worked. So we were waiting again. It was a couple of months for them to come out and make this alteration to the windows. Now it's been two months that we're working with them being screwed in on the left hand side. The window is secure and it's easier to line them up. Is it easy to line them up? No, still not. That screw is gonna pull out eventually. Every time we close the window, there is pressure on and a movement within the window to secure it. If and when they don't work again, I don't know what we'll do then. It's been a long road and if I could take these things out and throw them down the hill, I would. But after you invest $15,000, you just do the best you can with what you have.
The installer did tell us we are not unique in having this experience with this particular window. In fact, the owner of the company called us one day to talk with us about it. I was telling him my heartbreak with the window, and it was his idea that we screw in the one side so it doesn't slide. But he told me that he is aware that there are people that are not happy with the way it functions. That was not something the company hasn't heard other than just from us.

I'm not satisfied with the response so far. They want me to go with two options I don't want? Looking to get a Lawyer at this point. They do not customize windows obviously. Buyer beware. I see a long drawn out issue over their mistake based on the track record thus far.

I had a family emergency and had to leave the state indefinitely and cancel my door job. Since I did not meet their cut-off period of cancellation I was subjected to a 25% penalty payment (not sure if that is the exact terminology, roughly $2500 for NO service completed). I was to be reimbursed for approximately $1K. To date I have not received reimbursement and no one is returning my emails. I am very disappointed.

In the past, we purchased Andersen windows for a second home that were installed by my contractor and we love them. Because of that experience, we hired RBA to replace two patio doors, four casement windows and several stationary windows to replace 14 year old contractor grade windows in our condo. The sales team is very slick, providing all kinds of assurances of great service via their Signature Service.
I have had 11 warranty visits to repair most aspects of the installation, and I'm not done yet. Screens that won't stay in, 1/4 inch gaps in caulk lines on finish trim, and four visits to stop leaks in a stationary window. They finally decided to replace it but when they arrived for the installation appointment, they discovered that the new window was damaged in shipment.
After all this, I still must go through an automated phone system and leave a message in order to contact anyone. I have been thwarted in my efforts to discuss this situation with someone of authority. I am now waiting for a call in a month or so that the new window is ready for installation. My time is meaningless to this company. I highly discourage the use of this company. They may have decent windows, but lots of places do and you pay a huge premium for the Andersen name. Don't believe the Signature Service nonsense. I wish I could get my old windows back.

They were able to match the windows that I already had in the room so that it doesn’t look like it’s different unless you go right up to it, which is what I wanted. I got a big window that had two sliders on it for a sunroom. The installation was great. They told me when they would do it, and they did it when they said they would. They were very professional, and they cleaned up. The rep that I dealt with was very knowledgeable, and very nice as well. I also asked him about the windows for the rest of the house, but the downside of Renewal by Andersen is that they’re very expensive. I just couldn’t afford it.

When we called Renewal by Andersen, they sent someone out right away. Two days later, somebody was at our house to take a look and measure. He was really kind and super helpful. We had a weird window situation at our house and he suggested a much better workaround that we hadn’t talked about before. Also, the pricing was really good.
The technicians were amazing and the professional level was incredible. My husband and I leave really early in the morning, but they were here 20 minutes before they said they were gonna get here, which was really nice. When I came home twice during the day, they were super nice and explained everything to me. Plus, they vacuumed when they left, which was amazing. We purchased glider windows. There is a big picture window in the middle and then two windows that flowed into the center. I was truly blown away by the window's overall look. I took so many pictures and told everybody I know. Our sunroom now looks like a sunroom. It’s cold in there and the windows are sealed.

I would recommend RBA to anyone considering window replacement. They are in touch with you through the whole process. On day of install there were people from them that visited to make sure all went well. The install crew were courteous, professional and very clean. Even did things we did not ask for. The windows are incredible too!

I chose Renewal because they had a good reputation already. And because we had a smaller project it was a little harder to get people out where Renewal will honor any kind of project that you have. They were great to work with. Everyone stayed in contact with us and were responsive. They were ahead of the entire project, constantly reaching out, letting us know, “Here’s when it's scheduled. Here’s when we're coming.” There were no surprises at all. The delivery was less time that they had anticipated.
Also it was like the installation team weren’t even here. They were clean, timely and everything was great. There were no issues at all. And the new windows definitely are better as far as keeping in the heat. And one of the odd features we're kind of blown away by, is they have a screen that you can't really tell it's a screen, so it looks like the window is clear and bright because the screen doesn’t interfere with the look outside. So they just are smooth and they worked easily. They probably do cost a little bit more than just like the guy down the street kind of thing. But it was worth it to have a lot of the other things. We felt comfortable, we knew we were gonna get a good product and good service, so I guess you just pay a little bit more for that

Updated on 01/21/2020: So, if you search for my other review you will see my initial story. Here is the follow up... Inspector came out to look at windows (the best tech they had that has been there for 40 years we were told). Tech did a card test and determined that the window failed (the third one). Then, he tested the other windows and noted all of the debris and water that has come into our house and window. He took that info back to the company.
About 4 days later we got a call that they would replace the failed window BUT would use an air can sprayer to “clean out” the others then slap silicone over the seal. We said no to this option considering there is WATER in my brand new windows. So, we were told they would “call us back”. Well, today we got the call after waiting another week for someone to get back to us who now claims they need to come out and do yet another inspection even though the first tech took pics, inspected and did a full report. Also note that nobody will provide a number to the corporate office. I can’t wait to see what they come up with next. Just replace the defective product and make things right with us as customers. That’s all we are asking for.
Original review: We have had nothing but issues with our windows and doors. From installation to leaking windows to replacements and repairs this whole process has been a nightmare. We have missed many days of work having people come out and repair/replace cracked windows, leaking windows and a really expensive French door that still won’t latch properly. The manager never calls us- they send out a “service guy” who just orders another window and we end up with issues again. I should have saved myself 20K and went with Wallside.
I have a kid with respiratory issues and am worried that the continuous leaking windows are going to cause him more issues. We paid way too much money to have these issues continue in almost every window in our house. I want this solved or I want my money back so I can replace the windows correctly with a company that isn’t incompetent.

We purchased double-hung windows from Renewal by Andersen for their quality. The timeline they gave was perfect and the contractors did an excellent job. They knew what they were doing and worked well together. They didn't do the trim though, so I did that and sent them pictures. The windows are excellent and performing well. They made a definite improvement over the windows we had because you don't hear the sound coming through them. We also haven't spent as much on electricity to heat and cool the place because of them.

My experience with Andersen Windows from start to finish was not a good one. The sales person that came to my home seemed a bit aggressive. I was taking him to the windows I wanted replaced, he decide on his way to the room to go into other rooms without permission and quickly. I had to redirect him to the rooms I was replacing the windows in. I did not like that. He seemed to find fault in windows I was not replacing, that had no issues with. Once they replaced the windows, (two) in my home, a few weeks later there was a lot of condensation on one of the windows, also a significant amount of draft. I quickly called Andersen Windows to complain. They sent someone to check.
In this room there is an infant. On top of the dresser there was a humidifier, that had that was used a year ago, and has not been used since. The man quickly said that the condensation is due to that humidifier. I explained to the man that this humidifier has not been used for a year now, so that cannot be the cause of condensation. This is a small room, with little storage. The window was replaced. Today 1/2/20 I received a phone call from Andersen Windows. The lady on the phone, told me that the reason there was condensation was due to a humidifier in the room. I told her that this statement that their worker had written, was not true, and that the humidifier was not used for a year now, but the lady insisted that what was written on the report is why there is condensation.
So Andersen Windows, is saying that I am a liar. Do they do this to make the warrantee non-valid? Two windows cost me 4,500. Very expensive. I thought that the worker coming to inspect the complaint, and the salesperson was not professional. On top of that I was harassed to write a review over the phone, and via email several times. I did not want to really write a review. The last phone call from this company a women called about the review, in December 2019, I was not well, and again felt harassed. She told me that there was a contest for a trip for the sales person, and that my review would help him win a trip, if I can please write the review.
I felt that if I did not write the review they will continue to harass me. So I did. I am not happy with this company's behavior. The fact that the person lied to his employers on his report, and having to have such an expensive window put in, only to have it replaced because it was defective, in either the way it was installed or the window itself. My intention was to replace all the windows in my home in the future with Andersen Windows. Now I am looking for a different company, and brand, due to my negative experience, and how expensive the windows, and their worker writing a lie on his report.

I had an entry door replaced. I didn’t know who to go to, what to do, so I was exploring and decided to go with Renewal by Andersen. There was a little glitch. The guy who was gonna do it got sick, and no one told me anything about it. He hadn’t even done anything yet except take measurements. He should have said that, “I’m not feeling well,” for starters. I would've understood, but he didn’t even say anything. He just left. Then I called, “What’s going on with it?” And then they told me I’m due to have my door put in another day. And they did. They sent two people this time, and they did it within three hours. Those two guys did very excellent work. It looked like the door was never replaced.
It was a great plan that you can pay monthly because nowadays people don’t have a couple of thousand dollars to do the work. I told them exactly what I was looking for, and the door looks great inside and out. My husband took off the old wood, and they did what they had to do for the door frame and everything, and then the guys even put back the old wood.

I had doors in these three areas before, and they didn't work like that. I was told by Andersen that due to the weight of the doors, that's just how they work. Hogwash! Who pays this much for doors to be either closed or fully open??? Now their claim is that they never told me that they would be able to stay ajar... I'm forced to take them to arbitration. It's simple, there is no way that I should have to pay this much for doors that don't function properly!

Before purchasing windows from Andersen I went online and there were some pretty poor reviews that I mentioned to my sales person, but I told him that I would give them a chance anyway. The windows were for a second home so every time anything needed to be done I had to drive there. On 5/20 my charge card was charged and I was told the windows would be here in 10-12 weeks per the signed contract. They were not available to be installed until 18 1/2 weeks.
On 9/25 the installers were supposed to arrive between 8-8:30am. They showed up at 10:30. The installation should have taken 2 days and after 3 days they were not finished, possibly because they never showed up before 10, and then left to get supplies and lunch for 2-3 hours. I then had to wait until 11/5 for them to come out and finish the job which took them another 2 days, not one. Also, I was told that if I gave them the trim paint they would paint the outside trim of the second story windows that they installed and instead of painting the trim my color they painted it white which is not even close to green.
I was told that the county inspection would be 12/2 and that at 8am I could call to see what the time window was which is what I did. The county told me that the inspection had been cancelled. When I called the Orlando office I was told that they had cancelled because my salesman was having a procedure that morning and they forgot to tell me. I was also told that the county told Andersen that the trim molding would have to be removed for the inspection for them to check the installation and so the inspection could not be done that day even if an inspector was available.
I then drove out again on 12/24 for an inspection. I was called and told that the window for the inspection was 12-1. I noticed someone sitting in a truck across the street but they never got out of the truck. A little before 1 a gentleman knocked on my door and I thought he was from Andersen but he was the county inspector. I called the Orlando office and was told that the Andersen manager had left because he had another appointment and could not wait. So the inspector could not do the final inspection because the trim molding had not been removed.
The inspector also told me that the reason they require Andersen installations to have the trim removed is because the windows have not been installed properly on other jobs. I was also told by the inspector that it was Andersen's responsibility to call for an inspection during the installation to verify that the installation was being done correctly which they never did. Another wasted trip.
Just as aide, I recently had three large bay windows replaced at my home and it took 3 hours from start to finish. To make matters worse, when I called the Andersen national number I was referred back to the Orlando office and there was no email of any company officers that I could write to. So if you have a problem, there is no one to help you deal with the people that you have been dealing with who can't do their jobs right.

They stuck to it, and outlined it all from the start.
The rep was great and very friendly. They called to check in on the day of installation to make sure everything was going okay and followed up after it to make sure we’re happy with the product. The installation team was also super-friendly and efficient. It was a long day for them, and they were working the whole time. Their work is also very good. Technicians have been out four times with a net effect of very slight improvement over the windows' function. Takes forever to schedule someone. No one will tell me anything about what the problem might be. Were they made incorrectly? Installed wrong? I just get the corporate responses. I'm very unhappy and would never recommend this product to anyone.
Original Review: The seven new windows installed by Window Warmth leak cold air worse than my old vinyl ones that came with my log cabin. Actually had snow coming in through the joints on several in one storm. At first they blamed installation, but no one will tell me anything. I have used RbA two years in a row. Last year, I got a picture window replaced. I had a couple of people come out and the guy from Renewal seemed like he was more knowledgeable about their product. The customer satisfaction seems to be there as well as reputation, which I have heard of over a couple of other window products. It was the second time I had that window replaced. The first one was when the house was built and I had a bad experience at the time. I was trying really hard not to repeat that experience and I was willing to pay a little more to make sure that everything was done right. In the end, I had a good experience.
This year, a lot of those windows that I had replaced had gone bad too but I kept saying I'm gonna have to wait 'cause I'm getting close to retirement. It wasn't in the budget. But then, I got a note from one of the regional guys from Andersen for a special discount for repeat customers. I said I'll just let the guy who sold me the picture window come out and talk to me 'cause we had bonded. In the end, he came out and I told him I needed to get all the windows replaced but I didn't have the money. I did want the deal too. He did several renditions of the volume versus the sale price and it turned out that the more windows I get, the bigger the sales discount.
I bit the bullet and did every window that was done. I was getting ready to retire in a couple of years and I wanted to get all these structural things off my bucket list. I've been happy and I've had no problems since. Everything is working out well. RbA is pretty much true to form. Whatever they said they were gonna do, they did. They also followed up, with both years and made sure I was happy with their service. If I had any more windows, I would do it again.

The installation part was a big thing for me because having to deal with another contractor and figure out who is going to do what is sometimes an issue. So, I went with them. We had them replace sliding glass doors, which were Andersen, with French doors that had inserts and several locks to make it look like they match with the existing windows. They gave a timeline and they were able to meet it. It was a very accurate notion of how long it was going to take to get the windows made and when we agreed on an installation date, they got it done in two days. So, it was very well and professionally done. The customer service was able to answer questions in a timely way. Since they were installed, we have been inundated with ants coming inside the closed and locked windows. They enter from the gaps in screen frame, crawl up into the centerpiece (interlocking device), build nests and flood the inside of the windows and the rooms. We have been trying to get this solved since June. VP is ignoring facts and video evidence, and wants to do a 'final fix' (simply replacing the sashes) that won't solve the problem. The initial experience with the salesperson was pleasant and the product presented was a high quality and I ended up ordering not only two bay windows, but also a storm door and patio door.
My disappointment and dissatisfaction is in the actual window. I never received any measurement and/or renderings to confirm the windows would meet my satisfaction. The windows I ended up getting resembled porthole windows on cruise ship! If the salesperson never provided me with actual photos of how the windows would look and warn me that Renewal By Andersen would diminish the size of my window panes by over 10 inches, I would not pay $24,000 for allow less light to enter into my home. I've heard of Renewal by Andersen by word-of-mouth in contractors that I know and when I was walking around in a festival in Revere, they had a stand put up. I know I needed windows so I just hopped in to see if I could set up an appointment. The guy came and he was very helpful so I decided to go with them. For the most part, it was good. My sales rep made a lot of mistakes which was difficult including one on the types of windows that were supposed to go in. So, they underquoted me for what it was actually going to cost. They came out to my house at the beginning of August and the installation started in October 30th. It was finished in about four days. They did it quickly and so, they were done by the beginning of November.
The crew was amazing. They were so respectful, polite and made sure I was comfortable. I stayed out of the way but they communicated well with me. They made sure I knew exactly what to expect, what was happening, when they would be coming back and what the timeline was. If I noticed anything wrong, before I took the plastic off on the windows, they came back right away and that was all taken care of. The new windows were amazing. The price is more expensive but for the short week I got to experience them, the options that they provided and the knowledge of the tech who came in, the premium that I paid was worth the extra price.

I spent close to 30,000$ with Renewal by Andersen a year ago and their customer service is a joke. I have a double hung patio door that has never sealed properly and nobody there seems to care. Don't fall for "our service is the best in the industry" nonsense. It's not. They never call you back, never give you updates, and cop an attitude when you question their commitment to customer service.
It's 10 degrees outside and I have icy cold drafts ripping through my house and can't even get a call back. This has been ongoing for two months now, and I have spoken to at least a half dozen different people there, but it's a classic case of mirror management.... Somebody is always "looking into it". The latest excuse for not providing an update was somebody on vacation, but they'd “call me right back as soon as he returns”. One weeks later? Crickets as usual. Pathetic. I'm going to file a report with the BBB and start taking action to try get a refund, so I can get a door that works from a company that cares. I paid premium prices for a piece of junk that they won't stand behind. Fool on me I guess.

So every time it's windy outside, we get this whistle. They're coming out to do it. But they didn't do the job properly the first time, which is affecting my opinion of their company. Something is going on there in the quality department.
Also, I don't like that the sales rep say they'll give us this much discount if we order right away. I don't get a day to think about it and I don't like that. We already decided anyway but it's putting us off. They have done that on every order we've had with them. As a regular customer, if I wasn't sure, I wouldn't like that. I would ask them to give the offer for a week and if I take it, I get it. But if I don't, I don't. Other than that, their sales rep is fine.

Install occurred in September 2019. I filed a complaint regarding my experience with Renewal by Andersen. Today, Renewal by Andersen was kind enough to send Bret a district manager from Anchorage to my home. He spent a long time walking around my house taking readings with a thermal spot reader. After he was done, I asked several questions about the mold forming around my upstairs bedroom windows, the cold air pouring into my downstairs windows to include the window that won't latch and why we never received a follow-up appointment. Bret asked me if I watched the news when I replied No, he decided to give me a long-winded condescending weather lesson.
Long story short, Bret blamed the mold, improperly installed windows and cold air pouring into my house on the window blinds and humidity that was within the approved zone (30-35% according to their website) on us. He also said the outside humidity is 10-15% and that's what we need to maintain in our home even if it won't be comfortable to avoid condensation issues with the windows. Translation, I guess we should live outside. In addition, Bret said the individual who Renewal by Andersen sent to our home last week was inexperienced (this individual visited when it was -20 out and said the windows were installed incorrectly and gave us the owner's number to send pictures of our frozen windows to).
Eventually, my husband became frustrated and asked Bret to leave after Bret made a remark about having a conversation like adults. We still don't have any solutions for our windows and the next 7 days will be -30 and below. In a nutshell, we are a military family, my husband is a disabled veteran and Renewal by Andersen should be ashamed for treating customers this way.
Hi Paula- I am sorry to hear that you have clearly had a negative experience. Please know that we are working on this from our end and have passed this on to our regional team. Thank you!
