I did the door replacement with them. The team was very friendly and they worked persistently until the job was done. They did everything in half a day. The quality of the door was good. I highly recommend Renewal because I was satisfied with the job.

We really enjoyed their rep Jeremy. He was a really nice guy and he treated us like family. But I'm still waiting for them to come out as there are a couple of things that are wrong with the window. We have some ripples and a bit of condensation. Other than that, I had a very good experience with Renewal. Their customer service is excellent. I would recommend them as long as the product gets fixed.

The salesperson who came was very good. He gave us a quote and took his time. He went above and beyond as far as helping us figure out what we needed to have done and coming to our decision. The same for the person who installed. He went above and beyond and did some extra work to help make sure it was a secure door. We're very happy with everything.
The only concern was the length of time to wait for it because we ordered the door at the beginning of September and we didn't get it until almost end of December. They said it going to be 12 weeks in the beginning. We thought it would be more like November when we would have gotten the door. So, it was an additional month.

I initiated the process in September thinking that perhaps I could get windows by October or November but they said it would be December. Then, a week ago, we had our first significant snowfall. They did all the windows except the picture window over the kitchen sink. They also did all the exterior work, but the molding. They said they'd have to come back the next day. They initially said they could do the installation in one day and it wasn't possible for them to do it but it was fine. The men were polite and respectful and the workmanship was excellent. Also, I received a lot of help initially. Once the team got on site, I knew what to expect. They gave me printed material and what to prepare for and things like that. It was worth what I paid for.

I always felt that Andersen had quality windows. We had a very large bay window put in in two and a half days. The installers were very nice people. They were knowledgeable, clean, and very respectful of my property. And they did a lovely job. I’m perfectly happy with them. I got a lot of compliments already, even from neighbors as they go by.

Renewal by Andersen, advertise they do custom windows-I have 3 windows that needed to be custom, they said "We can't do that. They are too small of windows". After my windows came in I was told it would be another 2 1/2 months before they would be installed because I live in northern Az and they don't have enough crew here to keep up. When asked to send a crew up from Phoenix, they said "No".
Talked to 2 managers before I got an installation date 10 days later. Then the sliding glass door screen didn't come with the door.! I have to wait another 2 MONTHS to get that. Wanted to cancel entire order after my 3 day grace period but would have been charged 40% of entire project, being told project had been started..yet NOTHING was started for 1 month after signing the contract. Little to NO follow up with problems. This company does NOT stand up to their advertised reputation. Very disappointed, will NEVER recommend Renewal by Andersen.

I have dealt with flipping houses and building custom homes, and Renewal by Andersen was more superior than any other window company I've ever dealt with. From getting my initial sales call to measuring and the install, it was the most impressive. There was a product shortage, and they were in contact with me a couple of times a week, telling me where my order was at, which I appreciated. The cost was horribly high, but after the install and everything that they did, it was worth it. The quality is absolutely amazing. I've recommended Renewal by Andersen, and my daughter just got windows ordered from them also.

We had Renewal by Andersen install a sliding glass door, a bathroom 4 by 4 window, and then we're having five transom windows. So far, we love its quality and we're very pleased. They beat the timeline. They were sooner than we had expected, except for the transom windows, but they've communicated that. They’re only half the project finished but they did some amazing work. They blocked areas off in the house, and when they did the slider, they were here but we didn't know they were here, as well as when they left. It was perfect.

I reached out to see if Renewal by Andersen would cater to my area as I live outside of the city in a smaller town and they were able to cater it. Then I appreciated the salesman when he came out and we were able to work with him. We only committed to half the project for now and we did the basement. When we cut egress holes into the concrete foundation, the installers came in. They had to phase the thing out because two were in backorder and so they did three windows while I was at work. By the time I came back, everything was cleaned up.
The second team that came out was awesome as well. It was just a two-man crew and they communicated what they were doing, how they were doing it, and why they were doing it. I was trying to clean out an egress little spot. The guy made sure I didn't have to lift the finger. He wanted to make sure he went over the top and even took out some excess old window stuff that the other guy's previous team accidentally left behind. I didn't realize I was on the double slider type window. I thought it was a regular window, and then, “Why does the screen go all the way across the whole thing? That’s weird.” We’re just finishing the basement now so the quality is not tested yet as it relates to how insulated the windows are until the basement itself is insulated. But it was a great experience.

Renewal by Andersen was fantastic. Their customer service is so excellent. The products are amazing. I didn't even notice the effect of the windows so much until winter came. I have a really big house, so I only heat one side of it because the windows are so good, it doesn't get below 65. Also, the front door is gorgeous. It’s stained glass with a flower in the middle. It's really very elegant. As far as the installers, they were very pleasant and wonderful.

I've seen the products of Renewal by Andersen. They're very good. I got a front door and storm door from them. It was pricey, but the quality is excellent. I'm one of those people that believes that you get what you pay for. Their representative kept me informed of what was happening. There was a delay and given all the supply chain delays these days, that was not unexpected, but they were very upfront with it. The rep knew his product and the whole system from start to finish. There were no surprises.

We liked the reviews on Renewal by Andersen and the material we decided to go with. They were also the only one offering that. Then I had some good references and recommendations from others. The agent that we spoke with and made the contract was very good and nice. We met with him earlier in the year. He gave us time. We told him we might call back because we were sourcing. Then, we ended up calling him a few months afterwards. We put a hold on it. He was close in the area, so he came by. As to the team itself that did the installation, they were very professional. They were very courteous given the circumstances of COVID. At the same time, they were answering all questions, and were very clear about what they're doing, the documentation, and the next steps.
It’s been maybe three weeks now since we had the products installed, and my thought is it’s good quality. One of the other reasons why we chose to go with them was the home we’re in now that we purchased a little over a year ago, all the windows at the front of the house were changed a bunch of years ago by Renewal by Andersen. They were the only one that could match on the back side of the house. So, the quality is very good. We’ve seen it since we moved into the house on the windows on the front, and it’s the same windows now on the back. It looks a nice job, too.

Poor customer service and definitely lost my business. I asked them to be sure to send me a designer/estimator who is fully COVID vaccinated since we are at high risk. They refused my request and decided not to take my business. As a customer, I control the safety of my family and my home. Businesses should be keeping in mind there are so many folks who are high risk and be ready to support these individual requests accordingly. Wow, is that worth losing business?
Hi Sandra, thank you for sharing this feedback with us. We understand your concern and have relayed this information to the manager at your nearest location. Our house is 11 yrs old. Builder used Andersen windows. Within 5 years we had seal break on 4 windows. Andersen supplied the windows under warranty, but did not cover the install since they did not install. Fine. Now 6 years later 5 more windows have failed. Andersen is refusing to replace them claiming they can tell by pictures (won't send a service rep out) that this is not a product defect and they should not have even replaced the first 4 - that was just a 'good will gesture' (right - after we had to pay $1000's to install). They do not stand behind their products. We have been told that the aluminum strip they use to separate the glass panes does not work well in extreme weather - we live in Houston. Don't buy - they won't honor the warranty.
Joan, I'm sorry to hear the issues you're having with your windows, however it does not sound like you are a Renewal by Andersen customer. At Renewal by Andersen, we handle everything from sales and manufacturing to installation and warranty. It's what we call "full service." From your review, it sounds like you purchased your windows through a dealer instead. I'm sorry about your experience, but it sounds like you should be reaching out to the company or contractor who did your project.

We had our windows and sliding doors replaced last winter. The windows are beautiful and doing well. However, when we began to actually use our sliding door in the summer/spring, the handle fell off. We called customer service who mailed us out a new set of screws stating that the problem was the length of the screws, and the screws sent were too long. We were expected to place the door handle back on ourselves. It seemed pretty straightforward but when the screws were too long, we called again and were told that we were sent the wrong set of screws. This time, we were sent the same size screws as last time. And, we were told that we would have to replace our handle ourselves or arrange for a partner to do it.
This is extremely unfair as the mistake was made by Andersen and whomever they paid to do the job and it should be resolved by Andersen. I should not have to pay for a partner to come here and fix a problem that should not have occurred to begin with. The way that this particular issue has been handled is ridiculous. This should be an easy fix.
Ashely, thank you for letting our team know about this. I'll be sharing this feedback with the local management to look into.

Andersen's was very persistent in contacting me after I requested a quote which I was ok with. I was never given an actual quote after we made contact since I was told the cost per window was about $2800 which would be over 80k for my house if they were no more expensive than that. There is no way in hell I'm paying $2800 for a toilet closet window. Obviously I told her, "If that is your average price per window I'm not interested." I called another company who came out and gave me a quote, uses 100% argon in their double pane and it came out to about 1300k per window for the highest quality window, security windows. I'm super disappointed in my initial contact with this company and maybe their windows are that expensive but it seems like maybe the sales lady just wanted to go home and didn't feel like talking to me.
Hi Michael, thanks for your honest feedback. Every home's needs are different and so every window we manufacture is custom made. We are proud to provide the highest quality windows, and we're a full-service company so you're not paying for just the windows. However, we do require homeowners to sit down with our design consultants to get pricing specific to their project. I do want to share this feedback with our call center leadership so that they can look into your experience and make sure we're delivering the best homeowner experience possible. Thank you again for reaching out to us. We wish you the best of luck with your window project, Michael.

I ordered my windows back in May. I was told they would be ready the end of July or 1st of August. I was also told at that time that installation would be about an hour because "these guys know their stuff and are in and out and totally clean up afterward". They called the first of August to tell me my windows would arrive the end of August so they could set me up with delivery in in late September. I would not be home that month. So I made the appointment way into Oct to make sure I could have a first in the morning appointment which is between 7 and 9. Got a call that morning at 8:30 to say that they would be about 45 minutes late. I told them that wouldn't work for me.
I called my salesman and told him I never wanted to hear the name Renewal by Andersen ever again in my life. So I explain to him that it has taken way too long only to have the workers be late. He starts dumping on me about being more flexible, blah, blah, blah. So I told him that I only had the next week to get them in or they would have to wait until I returned in the fall. I couldn't even believe that he suggested "They are bonded so..." Did he seriously want me to okay strangers coming into my home when I am not there? Then he basically told me to play nice when the scheduler called to see if they could get me in the next week. Excuse me????
I am to be nice after all these months. It should have been the other way around. No one wanted to bust their butts and get me in sooner. Well, imagine my surprise when they suddenly had an opening the next week. Quite surprising when always before it was a month before delivery. Every call I made, every story I heard was never what the truth was. I will say the installers were wonderful. Two nice polite wonderful men who did a great job. Their clean up was probably to the standard of young men but I had a cleaning lady coming the next day so I didn't worry about it. And it took 5 hours to do the install, not 1. Lesson learned....get in writing when the product will be installed or the contract is void after that date.

This summer my wife and I decided it was time to update our front and patio doors. We did our research got estimates from a few different places ultimately decided on Renewal By Andersen. We chose this company based upon our research and our sales representative Chase. We chose our doors and paid half down to get the ball rolling. At this point we were told the doors would be built. It was explained to us that with supply chain issue it would be 12 to 20 weeks before the installation would take place. We were totally ok with the timeline and we're happy to wait for such a quality product and what we were told would be a professional installation.
Fast forward 16 weeks we get a call our front door is ready but our patio door would be another 6 weeks. Andersen offered to come out install our front door and come back out to do the patio at a later date. We were ok with that timeline and said yes. Now it's the day of installation the installer shows up magically with both doors. We were very impressed by this and happy to have the project done. About halfway into the installation the installer comes to me and says, We have a issue. We don't have all the material to complete your project." I asked, "Did you know this before you started working or did you just figure it out." His answer was, "I only install what Andersen provides me."
To say I was unhappy would be an understatement. The installer made a list of all the missing items and finished what he could. We were left with a door that won't lock properly, missing and wrong trim missing hardware and no thresholds. I was told Andersen would be calling me within 3 days. 7 days later no call, no nothing. I finally got ahold of Chase our original sales rep on day 8. Chase told me he was sorry and he couldn't do anything for me and I had to contact another person who may be able to help. When we started this project Chase assured us he would be there to help until the project was done. This was not the case so now we are stuck with a half complete project with no end in sight. In short Andersen will never have my business or anyone else in family business again.
Robert, first I'm sorry about the delay in my response here. But, I've followed up with the local team who assured me that you've since been taken care of. The ones that were in there never cranked out and I had them replaced with a combination of two pictures and three crank-outs.
The installation went really well. The crew showed up on time in the morning and set all their protective equipment. They didn't damage any floors and went about their work. They did quite an efficient job and ended at right about the time they indicated. The one issue was they had a previous date set that they were going to come and install the windows but the windows didn't come in time. They had to set it back and that was about two months. It was very believable and we knew that we weren't haggling. I wasn't getting a different offer than my husband would have gotten. Everybody who came into our house followed our request to mask, which is incredibly important to me.
There was a team of two people that came the day they said they were going to. One of my kids is two years old and those babies are more at risk for lead. They did the lead mitigation. The lead person got here early in the morning and clearly knew what he was talking about and took special care in her bedroom, so I appreciate that. They replaced 100-plus-year-old windows. We couldn't open the other windows ‘cause we were afraid they would disintegrate in our hands. We afforded six this go-round and they're gorgeous. We love the windows. They're easy to clean.
I was pleased with Renewal by Andersen. They were a little bit more expensive but the fact that these windows are gonna last forever and I can call them and they're not gonna go out of business means a lot. We had guys pour concrete for us for a broken sidewalk and we didn't hear from them for months then they just showed up one day. That was not our experience with Renewal at all. The permit person was supposed to come close the permit on the day that windows got installed but they didn’t show up. The windows look beautiful and are the perfect replacement for our old Eagle windows from 1992. It is clear the quality is much better, which we have always encountered with Andersen Windows. Mark ** and his crew were outstanding from the moment they called until the very end. They were prompt from the very first call to the completion of the project. He and his crew were professional, courteous, extremely neat, and diligent workers. They encountered a few issues with rotted wood and repaired the damage. Window sizes were mis-measured, instructions to installers were inaccurate. Full size screens were ordered, half-size screens were installed. Installation was poorly done, resulting in inability to lock any window properly & easily. One technician corrected installation and locking problems on all but one window, suggested visit by manager. No mgr ever visited, 2nd technician insisted there was no problem, but problem of locking that window easily still remains. Some full size screens were provided, after multiple calls, but not all. My multiple follow up calls were not returned.
Karla, this is certainly not the experience we strive to give our homeowners. While I understand that this review was submitted in October (my apologies for the delay here), I'm going to follow up with the local team to make sure you were taken care of. We like Renewal by Andersen's windows and we had confidence in the person that we worked with. The installers were exceptional too. We had four windows installed and they're excellent. We have four others that we had installed previously so most of the windows in my house now have been upgraded and replaced. The house is about 30 years old and Renewal by Andersen windows last at least that long.

After purchasing a disappointing product by another window company that was unable to be corrected by the installers/manufacturers, I contacted RbAndersen. I was only seeking another opinion/estimate but after the salesperson gave an impressive review of their product and process of installation, I went no further in seeking opinions. It is obvious that they have a superior product compared to other replacement vinyl windows. They also have responsive employees who take pride in their work. I had a concern about whether the rotten window sill could be replaced and they replaced it professionally and to specifications even my late father (perfectionist woodworker) would have praised.
Paying for such a product and service is obviously going to be more than what other companies charge but the value is superior and well worth it. After the anxiety of dealing with a company which would not admit to their inability to manufacture a window to the size of the original, it was a pleasure to be confident in the product, service provision and caring employees. Thank you. **

We started our Renewal by Andersen project in June 2021. We have received quotes from Pella, Marvin, and Renewal by Andersen. Having had a terrible experience with a previous remodeling project involving subcontractors, we specifically went with Renewal by Andersen at a higher price point because the salesperson (Justin Z.) assured my wife and me that Renewal by Andersen did not use subcontractors. Relying on the salesperson’s representations, we executed the contract with the understanding that the windows and sliding doors would be manufactured and installed this fall.
Renewal by Andersen called and scheduled our installation for the second and third weeks of October. Last Monday, the installation crew showed up. The installer starts telling me that he is a subcontractor and has other crews doing siding and building decks. We are not impressed with the fact that we are working with a subcontractor. Regardless, the installation went well. However, you should be aware that Renewal by Andersen did not scope our job very well. Our four-day installation went well into a fifth day. But why rush as the installation is a crucial part of the job. Unfortunately, as we are doing the final walk-around on the project, the installer informs us that the screen doors are back-ordered and one of the screens was damaged. These problems are on top of the entire project failing its city building inspection. In addition, both the salesperson and the installation project manager do not specify tempered glass by our hot tub.
These issues bring us to today. At 8:20 this morning, I received a call from their painting and staining subcontractor. Unfortunately, this subcontractor informs me that they have a sick employee and a death in the family and won’t complete our staining project scheduled for Monday through Wednesday of this week. So instead, the staining subcontractor offers to start the project on Wednesday. I made the mistake of raising these concerns with the local Renewal by Andersen office and the corporate office. But, unfortunately, all the individual people I dealt with acted as if I was unreasonable after a $90,000 project with Renewal by Andersen.
While Renewal by Andersen touts “Award-Winning Customer Satisfaction,” I have to disagree. While they charge a premium price, they will obviously tell you anything to close the sale. Unfortunately, we fell for their salesmanship and are now dealing with the subcontractors we wanted to avoid. Had we known, we would have gone with Pella or Marvin. At least Pella and Marvin are upfront and honest about utilizing subcontractors.

I like the frames that were around the glass that Renewal by Andersen had. They were composite frames and they were much smaller in size. I didn't care for the fiberglass or the plastic frames that other manufacturers are using right now. My sales rep knew his job and had great customer service. I was also impressed with the two individuals who came for the installation. I liked that Renewal by Andersen took great care in protecting the inside of the house. I also liked the uniforms that the gentlemen were wearing, very professional and clean. So many people that have been in and out of my house here during different projects come in with shorts and T-shirts. That's very unprofessional. He said when we were ready just to let him know. I was very confident that he knew what he was talking about. The installation went really well. They showed up in the morning. The lead person introduced me to his crew. He asked me to show him where the units were going in. He took it from there. They worked away. It took the whole day. He thought they would get done a little earlier in the afternoon, but it was late afternoon when they finally finished. The job they did was just beautiful. We needed a new door installed and signed the original contract on June 16, 2021. We are being charged nearly 9k for one French door. The advertising stated that there was a 40% discount but I do not see it reflected on the papers. We had a metal roof installed on the entire house for 15k and this is nearly as much. A team finally came to install the door on September 17, 2021 but the locking mechanism does not work and the door functions poorly all around. They sent someone out to check it and they said they are going to fix it. Still waiting, now October 11.
When you close the door the windows rattle and the door makes a metal clanging noise. It is not sealed at all. When it rains you can hear the rain on the porch really loud and with a simple touch of the edge of the door the sound is silenced. The contractor did a horrible job. Like I said they are charging nearly 9k and there is still no screen. Plus the job of staining the trim for around the door was left up to us. I want this fixed and expect a 40% discount, plus I feel like having to do the trim myself should be reimbursed. I will update this accordingly when satisfaction is met.

Renewal by Andersen seemed like a better choice to go with than somebody I didn't know anything about. I've been seeing their advertisements forever and I liked the company's size and reputation. It happened that I needed something done and I'm glad that I did that with them. My sales rep was really fabulous and she explained everything clearly and precisely. We went over several different options on things.
I had an egress window replaced in my basement. The installation was a breeze and the crew knew what they were doing. They got everything installed. They had to use the Sawzall because they had put panes that were in a wood frame. They had to cut that off first before they could get the other window out. They estimated the work to take a few hours but it didn't take as long as they thought it was gonna take. Everything went smoother than they were expecting. They then cleaned up everything.
I am thrilled to death with the window and I love it. I may have paid more than I would pay with another company, but the peace of mind I got from it was worth the money because Renewal by Andersen was wonderful and professional. They cared more about my wants and needs than their sale. I had a fabulous experience overall. I have three other doors in this house that need to be replaced. I showed those to the sales rep and she's gonna come back and we're gonna price those out when I'm able to do that.

It's just that the price is very high. But I would definitely recommend them. If people wanted to spend that money then it's worth going with them.

I saw a TV commercial where Renewal by Andersen was offering discounts. That prompted me to call because at the time, my wife and I were in the market to get a new door. We purchased a front door and a sliding glass patio door. The salesperson was excellent. We were convinced to do Renewal by Andersen because he was very straightforward and offered tons of options. The professionalism showed by the salesperson was unmatched by the competition. The timeline was reasonable and expected and industry standard. We understood that they don't carry those in inventory necessarily.
When they give you the quote, they assume it's a custom job. After the sale, the project manager came in to see if they could make it fit a standard door. He did the detailed measurements of the door. We were able to save some money because he was able to confirm that the door could fit into a standard setting. It didn't have to be customized. They explained that they do it that way so as not to shock the customer. The hand-off from the project manager to the team wasn't perfect, but the gentleman who was kind of the lead on the install team was excellent. It rained really bad that day but they were completely prepared.
The installation was subcontracted out but I was very impressed with the team. The were stellar. They knew what they needed to get done. The only negative was the scheduling of the job. They called and told us the installation would happen on a Thursday. We said, "No. We were told we'd be able to pick a date." We worked it out and the flexibility to do it on Saturday was key for us because we wouldn't have been able to work in the house if we did it during the week.
The other advantage to that crew was that they realized that they were ahead of schedule and that they were going to be able to do the first coating of the stain. They were able to call their painter. He was going to come on Monday to start the painting job but he was able to start it on Saturday. He matched it perfectly to our family room. We're very happy both with the quality and the installation. Renewal by Andersen delivered. We'll certainly look at them if we ever get to the point to replace any of our windows.

The first time that the sales rep came out, he was extremely knowledgeable and he did a lot of showing us what was going to happen. It made us feel comfortable. I've been impressed with Andersen. But in the last window installment, which was a kitchen window, the installers used a lot of cardboard wedges rather than putting down a two by four or a one by eight. Then they packed it with the foam and stuff. I didn't think anything of it but the people that are doing the construction in the kitchen said that was a cheap way to get out of using additional wood. But other than that, the installers were efficient and clean.

The salesperson was nice. I ended up going with the double hung window. The installation went very good. But the installers didn't realize that I needed to have the safety catches. They're always added on. So the lead man stayed and put them all in at the end. A couple of the safety catches didn't work properly. The person they sent out got waylaid by one of our maintenance men. For no reason, he stopped Renewal's tech coming in and told him he had no business of the fact that the board, who had approved it, didn't like the windows, and I was going to have to make changes. So the Renewal's tech believed him even though I said, "That's strange. How come I don't know about it?" The tech went back to Renewal and told them about this. But nobody contacted me and I had to contact the office.
We had some really, really hot days and I never had my AC on even though I have sun in the front of the house. But the windows kept things cooler. I'm looking forward to winter because there will be no drafts with the new windows. Everybody likes the way the windows look, even though they're a little different than the rest of the condos.
Thank you for taking the time to leave us your feedback Susan, we really appreciate it. So glad to hear you are staying cool with the new windows! Please don't hesitate to reach out with any questions or concerns.

There were two windows that were wrong and there's another repair that they need to come out for. They're going to finish the job in mid-September so there's a huge gap there. The lady that I talked to at Renewal by Andersen to make the appointment was funny and understanding. I told her I didn’t want to pay all at once. I wanted to make a down payment first and then deal with the other payment 30 days from now. She was more than delighted to do that. The guys who came out did the windows. They were very professional. They had their masks on and I explained to them that they couldn't come in without their mask. They were all agreeable. While they were doing the work, they took pictures and showed me what they were doing. The sealer that they put inside of the windows was agreeable. I liked what they were saying and doing.
After I put the window in and got it paid for, I was up putting curtains up, and there was a portion over the window that wasn't sealed. I called and the lady set up an appointment right away to have them come out and do it, and they came out and did it. I have no complaints with them. I'm getting some windows done in the kitchen and I've already set up an appointment with them to come and to measure it and do that. It was a good, pleasant experience and I recommend them to someone else. I'm using them again. I have no problems with it and my window is beautiful.

I really wish I had gone with somebody else. I had nothing but grief with Andersen. I waited months and months to get the windows, and then when they put them in, they’re the wrong windows. I'm in a condominium and all the windows need to match. The salesman apparently ordered the wrong thing. I had to be outside because my building is the age where they were worried about lead paint. They did a lead paint test, and there's no lead paint, but I had to leave my apartment and they strung up plastic sheeting. My apartment is on the top floor, so I couldn't see that it was the wrong window. But my association complained.
Andersen is the most incompetent company I have ever dealt with. I've spent $12,000 and now, I'm waiting for them to put the right windows in. I can't make plans for the summer or to go anyplace. But the salesman was great. I loved him. He did a great job selling me the windows. But now, I'm really stuck, so I'm really, really disappointed. The installers did a terrible job. They were in my condo for 13 and a half hours, and I couldn't come in. I've got five windows and they all needed to be redone. I have had nothing but problems, so I'm very, very, very dissatisfied. I would never, never recommend Andersen to anybody.

I needed a crank on one of the windows that were already in the house, and I called Renewal by Andersen because the internet told me to. I got a crank. I'm very enamored of the product. When I moved this time, I'm working on the next 20 years here, the house had horrible windows and I don't use my air conditioning very much. I can open and close these new windows that have been installed by Renewal by Andersen, which I called because I had such good service when I called to inquire about getting a crank for the windows in the other house. I'm very satisfied with the work that's been done and the product too. Everything worked just as they said they would.
I did have a little wrinkle during the installation. There was a crew of three guys. It was at the height of what's going on with the virus, and they came in. The person who was the manager of the crew was polite and wonderful, and the crew didn't want to wear their masks. They were in my house and I'm 75 now, and I was not happy about that. I complained to the crew manager, and he told them to wear their masks, which when I happened to be there, they did, and when I left the room, they took their masks off. So, I wasn't happy with that, and I complained to whoever is answering the phone for the office. He apologized, and he gave me a $200 credit for my troubles. I thought that that was inappropriate, but there's only so much one can control in one's life. I didn't get sick, so that was good. Overall, everything has gone wonderfully, and the financing has worked out well.

I said, "Yes, measure that window. We want to do that window."
So, he measured that window too and added that. I'm so glad he did that because my husband was hesitant about doing that other window, but I wanted to do it because we weren't having grids that time. Everything was good with the quality of the products from Renewal by Andersen. But I have someone coming over tomorrow because one of the windows cracked. The crack is on the outside, but there's nothing done with the screens. It's not like something flew into it. It's on one of the second-story windows. A couple of the screens were not placed in properly, like the upper corner might not have latched. There's a little knob up above that hooks into the window sill that wasn't done.
The ones on the first floor that we could reach, my husband went outside and put them back in place. But we have one on the second story floor that they're also, hopefully, tomorrow gonna fix. We have one window in my daughter's room where the tips of the latches are warped, so it won't lock. It won't go into place. So, I was a little disappointed. I had Pella windows before, but they were leaking after 15 years, so I was not thrilled with them. I decided on Renewal by Andersen when the lady came and talked to me about the 20-year guarantee. To get a 20-year guarantee of anything nowadays is unheard of. I got 13 double-hung windows and one slider door. There were at least five people who came out for the installation, and they were very attentive to me. Any questions that I had, they were able to answer. They told me the job would be done in a day, and it was. They also took all the old windows out with them. However, they put in the incorrect door in the slider. I've been working with a gentleman named Tom, and he said someone will come out and replace it, so I'm waiting for the new door to come in.
Shop around a little more than I did to see if there's something just as good. Renewal by Andersen was a lot more expensive than I thought it was going to be, and we'll see in the next five years if it was worth the expense. Right now, I can definitely feel the difference in the temperature of the house. I have my thermostat between 73 and 75. Sometimes, I go all the way up to 76 because I get cold, and it doesn't seem like the hot air is coming in. I sit in the study where the afternoon sun is directly hitting me and I don't get as warm as I used to. I'm very pleased with it.

Sergei and Andrew, the installers, were amazing. We asked to have them back because they did such a good job a year ago. Ryan was our sales rep and we reached out to him at the time we thought the price point would be better. He was helpful a year ago when we used them and he was similarly knowledgeable and helpful. He reminded us that good things come in fours with Renewal by Andersen. We did a little more than we thought we would because we had a group of three that was going to be a year from now project. We decided, given the typical pattern of sales, to do it all this year. But the best part by far was the install team and their professionalism, their care for our place, clean-up, the way they covered things as they came in the door and worked through the house. They finished early and everything was wrapped up well.
We installed the product in our previous home in Arden Hills over a period of about four years. We redid the windows there four at a time but when we moved into this place, the windows were 20 years old and they were coming apart in places around the edges. We could have done it cheaper by having someone replace the wooden frames around the windows but we were so convinced that the Andersen product and the Fibrex framing stuff were worth the extra money.
We're very satisfied customers. The thing that trips up some people is the price point. There are other options that are less expensive, but the quality of the product and the quality of service was worth the extra. In our previous house, Renewal by Andersen contacted us out of the blue to replace four windows that they discovered that had a defect in them in the manufacturing. They came and replaced them at no charge. So, we've had experience with the guarantee and that they stand behind things matters for us as well.
Hi James! Thank you for your feedback, we are happy to hear about your experience with our team. Please don't hesitate to reach out in the future with any questions!

I waited 2 months for my patio doors! Project start date finally - June 3, 2021. Salesman Nick said my existing trim (molding, etc.) was "oak", and that it would be replaced with oak. Job boss Carlos said I do not have oak. I asked carpenter Brandon what type of wood was he putting up and he said "poplar"! Told him it was supposed to be oak! Brandon said Carlos would speak to me about "that", which he finally did by telling me I did not have oak trim. I was ok with the poplar because it is a hard wood! My deceased husband & I had the home built and we were very hands on. Unfortunately, I do not know my woods and husband isn't here to ask abut the trim. You can bet that I will find out, as I have a piece of the original trim.
Job occurred on a Thursday. Fri afternoon I received a voice mail from the office stating that "the crew that they had the wrong type of trim that they brought out & they want to schedule a day/time to swap out the trim"! You must understand that this happened an entire day later. I was and still am very, very angry and upset. It ruined my entire weekend. AND this was after all of the talk about the different types of wood trim!!!! I could not believe it. I cussed at the gal who tried to reschedule. AND, I had already stained the trim around one of my patio doors!!!! (I had 2 doors installed.) Of course office manager Tom ** called me Saturday and said "I understand that there is a problem". Why did he call? He KNEW there was a problem! I explained the entire scene, once again.
The wood that RBA wanted to install after they removed the poplar was PINE!!!! What? He said too that pine is better for staining! IT IS NOT! I also told Mr. **, shame on Carlos and maybe Nick too, for one of them not having the balls to call me and instead have the "girl" office worker call! This whole thing is incredible, unbelievable and downright disgusting. Further, one of the most prominent trim boards hung was partially very dark and green. It also had a few grooves. I had to use wood filler before I stained! I have personally picked out boards in lumber yards, and that board would have went into the burn pile! I do have before pics of the board. Too, there was a hole in the floor and Carlos said it was going to be fixed! Well, it was almost fixed. There's still a tiny section visible.
The 4-man crew worked well together, & I was impressed, but that didn't last long. This 70ish woman had her work cut out for her ....staining, sanding, etc. I did pay a blind company to remove and rehang my blinds, so I had a time frame to complete my work! I wanted my home back together and wasn't about to start over again with a mess. I started this project with RBA on 3/29! Think I waited long enough. ** did offer to pay someone to stain for me because I was so angry and hurt, but I refused. Give me some money off of this horrendously expensive production instead. I know that won't happen and it pains me profusely to pay Green Sky because they paid YOU for a poor orchestrated installation.
My entire house is Andersen; not RBA. I received no apology and frankly, it don't matter now. I wish I never selected YOU. It was the blind leading the blind. Too, the boss manager Carlos and all others, should explain the warranty, etc. to all customers. That wasn't done for me. I asked and with a smart-ass type of response..."25 years! Don't you know that?" I did not! My Andersen windows were 20 years warrantied. And where is the documentation that states 25 years? I also asked if the warranty is transferrable. Carlos said it was. Where is that documentation? As I've been saying...this whole process was a nightmare which made me very, very upset.

The windows and doors are great products if you get the right installers. However, the Customer Service you get from RBA of TN (unless you can deal directly with people in Knoxville) after the product goes in is less than desirable. They will tell you one thing and then do another. On March 15, 2021, my housekeeper discovered one of our RBA windows had a crack. I was not home for the winter, and she could not tell whether the glass was broken from the inside or outside. When she called the service department and they asked if she knew how it happened, she said she “THOUGHT a bird MIGHT have flown” into the glass but there was no impact marks nor feathers nor dead birds around.
RBA in Indiana immediately called me and said that because my housekeeper said a bird flew into the window it was not covered under the warranty and would cost $750 to replace. I said I wasn’t paying a dime until they first sent a technician out to see what had happened because a neighbor had looked at the window and told me it looked as if the window was not broken from the outside but from the inside. A service tech did go out and look and, indeed, the glass was broken from the inside. RBA in Indiana still called and said it would now cost $1,286 to replace the window.
The problem was, their service tech was saying window not glass so they were pricing the cost to replace the whole window, when all that had to be replaced was the glass in the window. The problem was that they were trying to get out of replacing the glass based on my housekeeper saying a bird might have flown into the glass, but when they found out the glass was broken from the inside; the corporate office still insisted I pay for repair. The original franchisee I dealt with when replacing the windows was purchased by a larger franchisee who is in another state and owns many other RBA franchises. It is very difficult to receive the same level of Customer Service in this situation.
The service needed in one state is even scheduled by people working in another state and they have no idea about the area in which they are scheduling the service. They told me a service tech would be out at 9 a.m., and when he was not at my home by 10:10 a.m., I called only to find out they had rescheduled him for Noon and didn’t call to tell me. Very upsetting. Thank goodness the service tech called and let me know he had to come out and get the right numbers to re-order the glass because RBA in Indiana had ordered the wrong glass for the window. It has been a nightmare since The Davidson Group took over RBA of Knoxville, TN. It is now June 11, 2021 and the glass discovered broken March 15, 2021 is still not repaired.

I went to close the bedroom window and the plastic piece broke. Apparently, it was a bad lock. Then, I noticed the bedroom screen was buckling out. I called about that and it was hard to get ahold of someone. I would call, then I would be rerouted. Renewal by Andersen sent a service tech after I kept calling. He said that the installer put on the wrong screen. So then, that was on back order. My patio screen was also on back order. They never even informed us until the installers were here.
The guy called the other day to say that they have our screen and I asked if they got both of them, because every time we call, our customer concierge would say he'd let me know. Of course, we never heard from him. He said he didn't know. I don't want to schedule anything unless we have both of them. That's what they should do. So then, that was another 30 minutes of my time wasted, because he couldn't find the ticket and he couldn't find this, and of course, customer concierge was nowhere to be found.
It started out as a great experience, and then it just tanked. It was weird that I had a lock that broke and it was a plastic piece that fell off. We spent almost $8,000 on just plastic?! Renewal by Andersen did everything. Every time I had an appointment, they came on time so that was perfect. They're great company and the window's better, but I am a little put out by them. I'm not sold on it yet.

Renewal by Andersen is awesome. A few years back, they did all our windows. It was a very good experience and quality product. When we needed to replace our sliders back, we revisited with Andersen and we couldn't have been any happier. The salesman came out and then we got exactly what we got sold. You could tell that the installers were professional. They created a work backroom for them to work, so there was absolutely no construction dust to the rest of the house. When the painter came out, he was first class. He did a phenomenal job of staining the inside of the door. At every turn, things went exactly how it was supposed to. It was a very good experience. Andersen wasn't the cheapest on the block, but I understand that you get what you pay for.
Over the course of my lifetime, I've installed quite a few doors when rehabbing homes. I come from a huge family and we all had to add that in. With Andersen, I was very impressed at the installation and calibrating the rollers on the doors and making sure that it's a nice tight seal. They’re quality doors. I love them. I definitely would recommend Andersen to anybody. As a matter of fact, we were at a dinner party, and some people were talking, and I gave them the number of our salesperson. I told them, “if you want the job done right with quality doors, give them a call.” I have no issues as far as referring the company to anybody that's looking for windows or doors.

The sales representative was very nice to talk to, but the pitch was a little lengthy for my liking. It was over an hour and a half. I know it comes down to numbers and from what I can see, they are on the more expensive side, but the quality is good. They look good, and they function well too. The sliding door works much better than our old one. Our old one was many years old, so it was very nice to have a functioning door.

The workers were very clean as well as good at doing what they had to do to get the door in. They worked nonstop and did exactly what they were supposed to do. We used Renewal by Andersen twice. I had a really big window that would have cost a lot of money, and I did not want to take a chance on not having a warranty on it. Because it has a 25-year warranty, so I didn't want to go with just a random contractor although I could have saved a lot of money by doing that. I liked the sales guy as well. He seemed like he was trustworthy.
The installers came in, did their thing, and left. Besides me having to clean up and put my furniture back, it was like they weren't even here. Once we got the windows done on this one room, it needed to be done in my family room. I wish I could afford to do all of my windows, but it's expensive. A few months ago, I put in a request to have an estimate for windows, and a bunch of companies contacted me, including Renewal by Andersen. Prior to that, I've seen their commercials on TV. I thought they were a reputable company. The representative that came and took measurements of the window seemed to be professional. There was no pressure to purchase a window right away. She gave us a lot of options and good paint to go with.
The installation went good. This was in the springtime, and they scheduled three days for the installation. I think the schedule was too tight. They couldn't finish on the third day. Instead of Renewal by Andersen, having them come back on Monday, they were trying to get somebody else to come finish the work. Those people that installed it initially did not show up until two weeks later, and it was because of the way they had their schedule.
Other than that, they are very nice windows. They glide very easily. The screen is exceptionally nice. If we compare it to a regular screen, it's a lot more thinner. So, visibility through the windows is a lot more clear. Everything was good. If they can work on scheduling the people installing the windows, I think that will help. Also, Renewal by Andersen has been in business for a long time. When they remove old windows, there's a chance the wood underneath is rotted out. I think they need to make revision for that to be fixed at that same time and not wait weeks or months to have somebody else come fix it before they finish the install.

I had a new front entry door and a patio door wall installed. The doors are beautiful beyond words and totally transformed the look of our 50s bungalow. I can't say enough positive things about my experience from start to finish: Keith, my sales rep, has been a Godsend with his knowledge and accessibility. The techs were prompt, polite and professional from start to finish. But, with any big project there were small problems. The exterior caulk job is unsightly; looks as if an inexperienced DIY did it, spray foam residue has stained the front door sill and cleanup wasn't thorough (I had to vacuum sawdust and metal shavings left behind and wash same from my deck and front porch).
The good news is that immediately on contacting customer service, a tech was scheduled to come out within 3 days to correct caulk issues and Keith also stopped by, checked the installations thoroughly for any other unforeseen problems. Nothing else was found and Keith made an additional report about the caulking, again, correctly done but unsightly. I'm confident the caulk appearance and sill stain problem will be rectified, not only my satisfaction but the high standards of Andersen.

We were replacing about 20 windows and three doors to our home that was built in 1992. We made the required down payment the fall of 2020 and we were scheduled for April of 2021 for the installation. Project was going along fine when finding that one window and door was ordered wrong. Mistakes can happen so we don't fault that and they needed to be reordered. One of the windows they were replacing had water damage. Installation ended with another sub-contractor of Renewal by Andersen going to give us a bid on the repair.
Several weeks later, the sub comes out and tells us that it will be time & material with $5000 paid up front. I asked why for the upfront cost since we already paid $30000 down payment on the project. He said that is the way it is. We approved his bid as we had little choice of getting the project complete and told him about 2-weeks later to go ahead. It has been a month and no word of when. I called Renewal by Andersen and complained about not hearing anything.
The next day, the sub called and said he would be out the end of the following week depending on weather. The weather has been dry and we are now into the 3rd week and still haven't heard from them. So we sit with unstained window treatments, one window with sheetrock torn off. One door still needing to be replaced and one window ordered wrong. No communications from a company after they have had half of the project's cost paid for several months. Can not recommend them at this point.

I took thermal readings from the old windows at 29 degrees OAT (outside temp), took reading from new windows at 34 degrees OAT. All the old windows had at least a 2 degree better thermo reading than my new $30,000 windows. I should have just put new glass in the old ones and saved $28,000. Now waiting for service.

We had 3 sliding double patio doors installed in fall of 2019. They look very nice, and they should since we paid a total of ~$25,000. 2 of the 3 work pretty well but the one in our kitchen, that we use the most, feels like you're trying to slide open a 300lb lead door. The insulation is good, no drafts and they lock nicely. However the doors that were replaced were level with our floor, these doors have a 2-3 inch rail that you have to step over - a real tripping hazard that was not discussed by the sales guy. We are mostly okay with these doors but for the exorbitant price we expected more. We do not recommend Renewal by Anderson to our friends or family and always suggest they shop around with at least 3 vendors - we did not do that and we should have known better.

Ordered in Sept, installed beginning of December. The glass portion of the windows installed was half of the old windows. I can’t even put an a/c in the window which the sales person knew was a requirement. During the install they cut a wire in my kitchen thinking it didn’t go to anything. It was the heat for my pantry off the kitchen. They refuse to pay to fix it saying that I told them to cut the wire! 4 weeks later they came back to look at some of the issues I complained about. (Cancelled the appt twice). They measured the window that was scratched and took pics. Came again and had the wrong size window!
Took more pics and measurements and promised to expedite it. 5 1/2 weeks later when I checked on it I was told that the pics never went through so the new window was never ordered. They are coming again next Monday to measure and take pics again and I’m told to expect another 5 weeks for the window. There is 0 communication from them throughout all of this. I hate these windows and if I could rip them out and put my old ones back in I would do it in a heartbeat. They are the worst company I have ever worked with. Buyer beware. From my experience with Renewal by Andersen, I felt confident I could again count on them to accomplish this install.

I usually have good experiences with contractors who work on my house. My interactions with Renewal by Andersen started off well. We had a plan, the office and district manager were all attentive and upfront. I was even patient knowing that COVID was slowing down production, so I agree to have windows installed in February 2021 after speaking with them in November. February came and went, no communication. I called to check in since no one reached out to me. In March, I get a call to schedule a date,( after many texts to the District Manager). We are told a date, they cancel the next day citing because of the impending rain. Weeks go by, no one called to reschedule, no one reached out--no one! I then start texting my contact.
This goes on until the third week of April. Then I find they lied. The first date was not due to rain, they could not get the product delivered. I would have understood that if they would have communicated that to me. By now I was worried that my window project was crashing down. After many texts and emptied apologies, I get my windows done. They did not often any compensation for their bad business dealings and today (April 29) I still have not heard from them for me to share my feedback and dismay. So watch out for this company, they have no interest in making their customers happy but instead frustrating them to no end. Renewal by Andersen is not the company you want to work with. I only gave one star because I had to, otherwise they would have received no stars!

Was told that I would get 5 replacement screens for 5 existing renewal windows as part of this purchases. Was told they were ordered and on their way. When they arrived to install them they were only 3, all were the wrong size even though I gave him pictures with the serial number for each window. The person that came took pictures of the serial numbers again before he left. A few days after they went back to get the right screens made I get a call asking for payment for the screens. Called the sales rep and he said he'd look into again. Day later he texts me telling me they can't do the additional screens. From my point of view there was never an honest attempt to get those screens to me. Only to close the deal for the replacement windows.

I am disappointed with my last experience with Renewal. I have had them do my windows in my earlier home in 2010 and was very happy and satisfied. So this time I picked them again despite the fact that they were the most expensive. The sales team was good, however, the installation is substandard. I have had to call and reach out to Renewal at least 4-5 times to date. They missed my patio screen door, "forgot" to seal the top of a window with caulking, had patio doors that were lopsided, storm doors that have air gaps. I paid about $23K for my windows and am saddened most by the fact that my trust in their work has been marred. I can feel cool air penetrating my home from gaps under patio doors - not acceptable, not sure whether it is Renewal who is to blame or the people they used to install. I urge you to be very careful before using them.

The salesperson came out and did a nice demonstration. We signed up right away, had really nice communication throughout just keeping us updated on when the windows would be in. We prepped and did everything they said that we needed to have ready and then the guys that came to install were great and really nice. You could barely even tell that they've been there once it was all done. Everything was cleaned up and out the door. The windows are beautiful. They function amazing. I really like the way that they open up and let me clean the outside.

The sales process is very pushy and inflexible; had to spend an hour on the phone explaining to multiple people that during the pandemic, our tenant would like to limit the number of visitors only to a person measuring the windows while the actual pricing proposal can be presented virtually or to the owner at his home located 10 minutes away. The sales team wanted to have tenants, multiple owners, and the sales team crowd in the house and will not adjust the process to minimize pandemic risks for the tenant. Avoid.

But the phone calls keeps coming. So frustrating and annoying. They are now the last company in the world I would have anything to do with. I will be filing a complaint as well.

Adam was very informative and I had a great experience with him. The guy came to measure and first, Adam thought that the door was not standard and he added $1,000 to the estimate. But when the real measurement came, it was a standard size so we got deducted some money. The installation went beautifully. The installers were very nice and neat. We got a sliding patio door and it got here sooner than I had expected. It's beautiful. I'm very happy with it. I particularly like the quality of the glass because the sunrays don't reach the floor as they are ready because of my other glass, so I would definitely recommend it. It's a good product. The rest of the house has normal windows and they're double-glazed. When it's cold and the sun hits the windows, it warms up the house but not the living room where we had it done because the heat doesn't transfer. It’s a drawback but it's gonna be great in the summer. The reps are good but we knew what we wanted and so we didn't have to be sold. The marketing was a little too much. I used to have an old Mercedes and I would take it to the Mercedes shop. The guys would come out with lab coats and white gloves, and they charged me a fortune to change the oil. But then, I would go to Joe's Mechanic and he would come out in overalls and do the same thing for nothing. So, I understand how Renewal by Andersen was trying to try to be the very best but it was a little overboard. I still love the windows and they're very easy to open to wash too.

I like the warranty that Renewal by Andersen offers. They were almost twice the amount that I would have paid somewhere else. But the warranty on the product itself was worth the money so I don't have to worry about it. Anything happens, they take care of it. The salesperson that came out met with me. There was another guy that came out to do the measurements as well. They were both fantastic.
The installers were great with their communication and what they were doing, their craftsmanship, and how they did the job. They were very responsive. When I let them know the issue, they had somebody come out right away. The guy put the parts on order and he said that they'll get back to me as soon as the parts come in and they'll take care of it for me. Now I have to have somebody come out. They have to readjust my storm door. It was not installed properly, so they're going to have to take the door off and remount it. They're waiting on some parts.

We went with Andersen replacement windows because we didn't want to have to take all the trim off the inside and outside of every window, which we would have had to do if we went with new construction windows. As it turned out we had square frames that weren't rotted (the house was built in 1982 and we had the windows done in 2012) so the installation was to be fairly straightforward. So we went ahead and replaced all 18 windows in the house, some casement, some double hung, some sliders, and three very large living room and dining room windows with triple windows and large glass.
It cost us $32,000. The windows seem to be a good product, as we immediately noticed how quiet the house was and how much better it seemed to hold the heat and cool during western New York weather. The real problem, and the reason for this review, is only a few years later the trim is all falling off, we noticed some areas that leak because of poor installation, and the fit and finish of their trim work is horrendous. They might have a good product but it's only as good as its installers and their installers obviously have no pride in their craftsmanship. Do yourself a favor and go with real windows and real installers. We would absolutely not recommend Andersen replacement windows and we regret our decision to do have this company do work in our house.

Renewal by Andersen had financing and everything was so good. They replaced my Andersen windows that were like 40 years old. They were so nice and so professional even the guy who came for the sales and gave me the price. Sometimes you can go to smaller companies that are a lot cheaper but you get so much quality service with Renewal by Andersen. There was somebody else in the interim to measure better and saved me $1,000. They were going to replace the whole window and he had said something about the frame of the window. He said they could use it and they could make it look the same. That was so nice that he gave me that option so I was very pleased.
The installers who came were amazing. I had blinds over the patio doors that I had before and I asked them if they would move up my blinds so I could open the door instead of having the blinds there. The guy didn't have to do that but he was so nice about it. They were extremely accommodating for me. I would have had to hire somebody to come to do it and I was so appreciative that he did that.

I see plenty of positive responses, and as far as the Andersen Door goes, I must agree the door is quite nice. Everything else is subpar and I would not recommend them. I figured that for the price I was paying, I would get first rate attention and first rate craftsmen to do the work. That’s not the case. I’m very unhappy with the entire ordeal, but must say everyone involved was friendly and courteous, but it’s more than that. Our project has been delayed far too long. Plenty of excuses. We have a house that has 35 windows in it and we knew that we were going to have to start doing some phased replacements. So, we started with the three worst conditions that needed the most urgent replacement. The sales experience with Renewal by Andersen was super easy. The guy came in and did a great job of explaining and demonstrating. It was a couple of hours of pitching which was maybe less than ideal but effective. The time elapsed between the sales pitch and installation was less than what we had expected. So, we were prepped, that it could be up to 13 weeks for lead time. But it was inside of that. We were at 11.
The guys booked their installation time with no problem, and came and did the installation. It took them all day and they worked until the dark evening hours in freezing cold. They were incredibly respectful and professional. The only hitch in the get-along has been getting the last window trim painted. There was a bit of miscommunication but that's getting resolved on Monday. So, I have no issue with it.

There was a two-man team and it was the particular team I wanted that was especially COVID-conscious. They were very amiable and considerate. I gave the review of the team and said that they were good. I gave them high marks. However, they are coming back to fix a few things and complete some stuff. The slider window was damaged in shipment, so they're going to fix that. They also have to come back and do some caulking. I just opened the casements for the first time the other day as well, and I just noticed that the screens are bit too small. One of my casements fit very tight. The other casement, the screens are super loose. They're going to have to figure out and fix on those so that they don't have gaps, so that bugs can't get in.

Anyone who’s signed up for a “free estimate” (read: sales pitch) with Renewal By Andersen should be aware that, in my case, they used two powerful (and, I’d say, manipulative) psychological techniques in order to try to close a sale. The first is ‘Anchoring’: early in the presentation, the salesperson floated a range of very high figures supposedly representing their typical prices for new windows. Then eventually, I got a customized quote with a special discount, giving me a figure that was substantially lower than the earlier range I saw. By anchoring me to the initial higher price, the estimate was made to seem quite attractive by comparison.
Anchoring is particularly powerful when coupled with the second technique they used: ‘Urgency’. In order to get this special discount, I had to hand over a down payment check that day! I mean that literally. When I asked the salesperson, “What happens to the price if I wait until tomorrow?”, the quote went up thousands of dollars. I’m not exaggerating. Clearly, this is ridiculous: there is simply not that much volatility in the window market. If these windows are such great value, one wonders, why not guarantee the price for a long enough period of time to allow for the customer to do their own research and come to an informed decision?
Fortunately, there are ways to defuse and circumvent these tactics. After I complained enough about the “today only!” nature of the discount, the salesperson finally conceded that if I sign the contract and write them a check, I can still back out within the next few days, as long as it’s before their folks come out to take measurements for the new windows. So I wrote them a check. The next day, I canceled, saying that I hadn’t had enough time to ensure that this was a wise investment. At that point, I was given the option to extend the special “today only!” discount for a two week period of time. (By then, of course, they had nothing to lose by making such an offer.) But I was already fed up enough with the whole gimmick, so I declined the extension and told them to destroy my check. I’d rather buy windows from a company that doesn’t play games.

Rich, the rep from Renewal by Andersen spent almost three hours with us because we had to two different locations that we were going to do. Then one of the locations, we weren't going to do until maybe three or four months from now. But he was so thorough in explaining 'cause we didn't know what the best application was, like which window or product would suit us. Then every question that I had, he went over it again.
Once we got a ballpark on one location, we told him what we were going to do on the other one and asked him to give us a quote on it. He did the same thing with that, which was a totally different application and totally different kinds of products. So, we were talking about doors, windows, sliding glass doors, and replacing existing stuff. It was a very complex conversation.
We asked Rich if we could negotiate a better deal if we were doing both locations at the same time. Each one of them was about 30,000 and when you put them together, it was 60,000. The budget was about $4,000 less than what the total number was. So he said that he would ask his supervisor. Rich called back again and they were able to do something. It was still about $1,500 more than what I wanted to spend. I asked him if they could figure out a way to come up with this difference because it was a lot of money. Then within an hour, what the supervisor ended up telling Rich was that he had sharpened his pencil as much as he possibly could, that the only other solution was that the person would take a lesser commission on the sale and he agreed to absorb whatever that incremental difference was between our budget and what Renewal could do.
I felt very comfortable and confident that the quote Renewal gave me was a good deal for the both of us. Even though he spent that much time, I didn't feel bad that Rich had to take it out of his own pocket because he spent the time anyhow. If we did the deal, he would get something and if we didn't do the deal or half the deal, he'd get half anyhow.
We had replacement windows, top of the line, the best that they could do. We had two windows that have screens on that slide back and forth that we put into a wall that didn't have windows before. We had 13 replacement windows and these two windows on one location that we had. Then on the second location, we had three sliding glass doors put in, a 16-foot, a 12-foot, and an eight-foot, and then we had a kitchen window replaced that opens out. The cost was expensive. But you get what you pay for. It was probably 20% more than what anybody else was. But these things are gorgeous and efficient. They're perfect. There's nothing that I would change about them.
If you want quality and if you want the best, there's nobody who does it better than Renewal by Andersen. The customer service, the workers, the people who did the installation are extraordinarily competent. I was here while they were putting in the wall and they measured two and three times. Everything was precise and they didn't cut corners.

Without digging too much into the weeds, my wife and I decided we're gonna do Renewal by Andersen and there were no headaches. They definitely offer good quality and you get what you pay for. It's not cheap. The installers were very good too.
The only thing is that they strive for the highest mark the customer can give. They go fishing for the grade. I know they work on a commission, and they're all working hard. I thought, “Well, I'll just give them 5 stars.” They earned it, but it felt a bit disingenuous to have them come out and say, “Give us the 5 stars.” It's not that I wouldn't have done it, but what if I thought that it was truly a 4 for whatever reason? In life, it's hard to get an A-plus-plus in everything that you do. That's how I grew up. You learn from your mistakes and you move on. My only critique is that I would advise them not to be soliciting positive feedback from the customer or to not pressure the customer to give 5 stars.

Around midsummer last year, Renewal by Andersen talked about a deal on their windows and their door replacement. They're expensive but they have a good reputation. At the time, I knew I was needing new doors at some point, so I called them and got things going. I got the front and back interior doors, and a storm door. I also got a side door to my attached garage replaced. But I thought that when you replace the door, you swap in one door for a new door. I didn't realize they go to all that work of tearing everything down the door jamb and the threshold. They break it down to just a hole then they rebuild it all. So, that explains part of the cost too. I didn't realize that at the time when I got the estimate how thorough they would be but that's how you make sure it's installed properly. And it's really going to be energy efficient and airtight. It's worth the money for those that can afford it.
The reps I worked with were excellent. They were knowledgeable and professional. They answered all my questions and I was really impressed with the crew that came that day. They prepped the area to keep the dust from circulating and they cleaned up after themselves. When I need things in the future, I will consider going to them versus some fly-by-night or Home Depot. A lot of people use Menards or Home Depot and with them, you get what you pay for in the long run. Quality work comes at a price, so I would use Renewal by Andersen again.
