Everything went well with our RainSoft purchase and installation.

We've got the RainSoft water softener and the reverse osmosis. We had gone to Home Depot and had a water test and when the engineer came, he talked to us about it. He was great. He was helpful and knowledgeable and explained things. We only had one guy come to install and he struggled a little bit because of what the engineer said he could do. He said it wasn't going to be as easy as they said. The only thing is he could not hook up the ice maker for the refrigerator. But since having the systems installed, the water definitely tastes better.

I had a water system in a previous house so I knew what Rainsoft could do and its benefits. The installation went great. The salesman was great. It was as good as I could hope for. I can tell the difference in the water although it’s not as much of a change as my previous house but the water at the previous house was a lot worse than what I have now. Overall, Rainsoft delivered what they promised. Basically my main concern was just having moved in to the house was difficult to afford it, and they made that fairly easy.

RainSoft said they're going to come and test my water and then give a gift card if I let them, so I did. I can tell a difference after having the system installed. They're a very nice company, very friendly people, but I just don't think the product is worth what they're asking for it.

We were going to Home Depot and the RainSoft rep offered us someone to come out and test the water, which is something I had been wanting because we just recently purchased a home. That had grabbed our attention so we went ahead and did it since it was free and they also offered the gift card. The RainSoft rep was good. He was very friendly and had a lot of knowledge and gave us a lot of information. He did a demonstration and everything. Since it appealed to all our senses, it was nice and it was good, we bought the water softener. It was an eye-opening experience. We were able to see it, taste it, touch it, feel it - everything. It was just a good experience.

We got a water treatment system from RainSoft and we’re very very satisfied with it. With the system installed, what we've seen is that we're not having to use as much soap. In fact, I've probably used more than what I should. Still trying to adapt to the usage. The first couple of days it was really good to drink, then we ran into a problem where the taste to me is awful. And it's kind of cleared up but we still have a little concern and we didn't know if it's something we need to address or it just takes time to run its course. Everyone at RainSoft was very courteous, very friendly, very knowledgeable and professional.

We purchased a water filter from RainSoft. It's been great having the system installed. My hair is softer and my husband actually likes the water better. He said he can tell there's no chlorine or anything in it. The people at RainSoft were pretty knowledgeable and worked around our schedule. They left everything clean.

We had entered to win a drawing at Home Depot for a washer and dryer. Then we got a phone call saying RainSoft Water System will come to test our water. The salesman came in and showed us what was actually in the water. It was great. He was very polite and very knowledgeable, and he gave us a really good pitch that's why we had one installed. I haven't really had a chance to use it on the grass yet but in the shower or washing hands, I can tell a big difference, both in the taste and feel.

We live in the country now and the water is hard and we found out about RainSoft through Home Depot. It was a wonderful experience with the sales representative. She was great. She sold us on the system. It looked better than anything. We've always had water softeners so we decided to go with what they offered and we like it. The installers were good, too. We had no problems at all. They were great and definitely there is a difference in the water.

I read about RainSoft on the paper and I have been thinking about getting one for a while. Finally got the opportunity to get it and went to Home Depot and they were working on some paperwork for a survey. Our name came up for one of the technicians to come to our house and visit and check the water. And that's when we decided to get it and there is a big difference in the water. We noticed the difference right away.

I learned about RainSoft through a flyer in the mail. It said that we could get a $15 or $20 gift card to Walmart for having some guy come in and do a survey or a test. That was how it all started. Everything went well. I felt like maybe their sales rep embellished a little bit or told a few fibs. But we got it all worked out when I called. We went ahead and got it installed. I found some similar water systems for a great deal less than what I purchased this one for. So I called RainSoft and mentioned my issues with them. And he definitely made sure I was happy, smoothed everything over. The technician was nice and everything. The guy that came out and did the actual install was great. Everything’s fine. We enjoy the water system and everything. It was a good experience. They were timely and professional.

I got a call from someone associated with Home Depot to set up an appointment. The representative was very nice. I knew what I wanted already when he came in. It only lasted a few minutes. I've lived in our area for over 40 years so I knew how the water was very hard and distasteful. I wanted to change that before. I just built a brand new home and I didn't want the pipes to corrode, so I wanted to get a softener and a system in before it got too late. I purchased the RainSoft softener. They're supposed to put a faucet outside to circumvent the softener so I could hook up the hose outside, but they've not done that yet. But there's a huge difference in the water - feel, taste, and smell. No question.

I have relatives and a couple of friends who have RainSoft. They seem pretty satisfied with it. We live in South Texas so we have really, really hard water. We were remodeling our house and redoing the bathrooms so it seemed like the best time to get the water softener put in so we don’t have to go back to the lime deposits and try to keep the showers clean.
The salesman and installers did a really good job. They made sure they install it in the place that I wanted in the way that I wanted. So it was really nice. They probably did some extra little things for me that they may not have had to do but they did. The guy came to put the RO system under the sink. I asked him to run the line to the refrigerator which required quite a bit of work but he had no problem. He did it for us. It was great. About six days after we put the water softener in, the water heater gave up. When the time came to pull out that and put in a new water heater, it was magnificent. It has really been great. I was very pleased.

I purchased both the RainSoft water softener and the air filtration system. I purchased a new home and the water was extremely hard. I wanted to get some sort of filtration system in place because we are on the mud district. I literally Googled water filtration systems and Home Depot popped out. I saw that they did their consultation, they tested the water and everything. I actually worked at a college so I took a sample of my water to our lab and tested it there. I compared to the test that they performed and everything wind up pretty good. They were very professional and so I decided to go with RainSoft.
When they first got there, they introduced themselves right away and they started to explain everything with us. They wanted to look for the water disconnect valve and so we had a hard time locating it on the outside. Before he even entered the house and before he went into each room he would ask if it's okay because he might and then explained to me why he needed to go in there because the pipes sometimes run up this wall and down this wall and since this is where the bathroom is, it might be right on the wall below it, "So if you don't mind, can I go see what's below it."
It's very thorough. As they were installing things they were explaining it and say this is the softener, this is the carbon filter, and when they did the under the sink reverse osmosis filtration system, they were telling me all about that. As they continue to go, it was just amazing. He made the comment about our ice maker. He said, "Well your ice maker, just take the first 3 loads and dump them out." I went, "We don't have our ice maker hooked up because we don't have the right adapter." He looked and he was like "I have an extra one of those. Let me hook that up for you." So he hooked up our ice maker, off of his extra part that he had and made sure it worked and didn't leak. And I was like, "Holy crap, you guys are awesome!"
I was impressed. They're very nice, very genuine, very down-to-earth, very friendly and I'd have them back over at my house anytime. I had a great experience with them. As for the water, I thought the change was going to be subtle but it's actually been rather drastic. I cleaned the house, and after I didn't have any water spots. That kind of impressed. When you wash your hands, your skin feels softer but there's an OBVIOUS difference.

We're unhappy with RainSoft. We've told them about having a leak with the reverse osmosis and they have yet to get back to us. I don't think we should be chasing after people when we have notified already that there is a technical issue with a less than one-week-old product. I'm not loving it. The reps could do a better job in terms of follow-up care. We noticed that the reverse osmosis unit at the counter is dripping the day after it was installed. It's been a week since it's been installed. It shouldn't be our job to follow-up.
If we call them it's leaking, we need and there should be a result. The product is great but the sales guy needs to brush up on his skills. I have a bit of an issue with him as he never called to say that we had been approved and when the installation would be and the service guy just showed up. The rep assumed that I would be ready for the installation. But other than that, we're happy with the water.
Thank you for reaching out to us. We have contacted your installing dealer and the following resolution was reached. On January 17, a service technician was sent to the home to look into the concerns of the reverse osmosis drinking water system emitting a noise, and leaking whenever water is drawn from the drinking water faucet. The system was found to be in backwash mode, and the small amount of water left in the faucet neck was dripping into the sink. The technician explained this to the homeowner. The customer's Home Depot gift cards were also delivered.
The system installation had been scheduled for 10:00am, but there was a delay in the customer's financing coming through...which was approved two hours after the scheduled installation. We do apologize for the timing of this.

We got the RainSoft water softener and can tell there is a difference in the water since. I feel softer. I'm using less detergent and shampoo. I'm not even using conditioner in my hair and I have to. My hair is very coarse and very curly. Used to be that I had to use conditioner to get all the knots out of my hair. And I use a dime size of shampoo now and that's all I use for my hair. We're using a lot less laundry soap. I'm still using Downy even though they said we didn't need to but I like the smell of Downy. The guy that installed it, Joe, was great. He explained everything really clearly and well and did a great job. Jason was our salesperson and he did a great job, too. We're very pleased with both of them. I've talked to my niece and she's thinking about it. We got the water softener from RainSoft. I first heard about it from my daughter. She and her husband had a sales rep come out and then we asked the sales rep, called him, and asked him to come out and he did a demo. The principle and the concept sound logical and so we went ahead and purchased one as well. There is a difference in the water system in the house but I don't feel it so much. It's not like the demonstration. When the sales rep came in and demonstrated it, you know there was clear distinction. What I'm getting in terms of product out of the faucets and sinks around the house doesn't feel anything like that.
The installation didn't go so well. They didn't show up when they said they were going to. It took multiple inquiries and telephone calls to include the business owner in the local area. They came out and installed it incorrectly. Somehow they tapped in just the hot water line. They had to come back and completely redo the system, bypassing what was in the house. They probably could have done a little better job figuring out ahead of time what they needed to do. They were winging it. They came in and ran a drain line through an exterior wall from the garage to the interior of the house through a utility room and did not complete the project. I got a hole with a line stuck through it on the inside of the house. It doesn't look very professional. The guy that was working in there had something in his pocket and scratched the wall along that side as he was maneuvering between the washing machine and where he needed to get to install this drain line. They were supposed to send someone back out here to do the dry wall in the garage, to repair the damage that they caused for cutting into the wall and that hasn't happened. From an installation perspective, timing, quality workmanship and overall satisfaction is marginal.
I expected over the life of this product to see clear benefit. I was a bit surprised after it was installed to find out about all the cost, the operation, and sustainment cost over the period of time. The sales rep didn't volunteer that information. Had I understood the system in more detail, I probably could have figured out that there is a cost of operations and sustainment cost. The maintenance every year the filter and cleaning... That's another couple of $100 a year that I'm going to have to invest in this product that wasn't brought to my attention right up front.

My boyfriend was trying to get to the bottom of why I kept itching with our laundry. RainSoft was doing free water tests with signing up. He says, "Well, maybe we could do a water test and figure out if it's the water in our washing machine." Because we were using a soap that he's used before when he lived at his parent's place and he's laundered some of my laundry there and I never had a problem there. His parents have a water softener system. The salesmen who came weren't pushy which I liked a lot of because I don't like pushy salespeople. I know that they work on commission. I understand that but when you push, it tends to drive more away. And the installation guy was very helpful and very demonstrative. He double checked everything before he left. I was very pleased with it. We got the water filtration system for the sink right now but we're looking into getting the other ones later on.
Even our friends could tell a difference because a friend of my boyfriend drinks a lot of water. He noticed a difference from the house he lives in to our water since we had the system. I was supposed to get 24 months financing but Home Depot said it was only 12 months so I got to straighten that out. I also had a little problem with the installation crew. When they put it in, there’s a display on it and instead of turning it to the side, they faced it towards the wall which makes it harder to open up and you got to stick your head between the wall and the display to see it. On the plus side, I can definitely tell a difference in the water when the RainSoft system was installed. It never builds up a soap scum in the shower as much.

We’ve had one before quite a few years ago. During our last move, we bought a cheaper thing and it’s a big difference as far as the product goes. I’m happy with the product but I wasn’t happy with the installation. What they did is they drilled the two holes in my walls and put one pipe in. They extended the actual RainSoft device about 6 inches into my garage. I have a great, big F-250 truck. So now, I can’t park my truck in there because the RainSoft sticks out in that part of my garage. And the guy did a messy installation. So I called and RainSoft had an inspector come and look at it. He agreed with me and said that they would come back out and fix it. They’ve never done that. I called their office a couple of days ago and they never returned my call. I spoke with someone and she was rude. She said that she would call me back and they didn’t. I’m not very happy about that.

When we went to Home Depot for something else, we were approached by a Rainsoft rep. We decided that that was something we were looking for, and we liked what they had to offer. I got the water conditioning system and the drinking water filter. Definitely there is a difference. That’s why we were easy to sell on it, because we had wanted to do it for a long time and it’s just an investment which hopefully will be offset by the money we’ll save. So it’s a good investment too. But definitely, an investment in health.
We really like everything about the salesman. The only one thing is that it was like three hours long and we talked a lot. We were friendly and talkative and he’s friendly and talkative. That was the only problem. He sat there for an hour-and-a-half of it, and we thought should have been done by two hours. It was the same exact thing with the installer guy. He’s just really friendly and talkative and I like that, but it took a lot longer than it should have because of that.

We had just moved into our new house and a rep came to do a test on our water. Turns out it was very hard water and he said we could really benefit from their system. We were told during the sales presentation that it would make our skin and hair feel soft after showers and we would even be using less shampoo, conditioner and lotion. What my husband was sold on is when the rep said it would leave a spot free rinse on the cars. So we decided to get it. Within the first two weeks they had to come out twice to fix it and to retest! And when I get out of the shower, my skin feels sticky and tight (not like soft water at all). I am actually using more lotion than I ever have before! Also, my husband had been upset because the spot free rinse was not as spot free as one would hope.
So, because we were very unsatisfied with our system we called to have it uninstalled and returned. The only thing they did was send someone out to retest the water. Every time they leave they say the water is "good"! They have been out several times all with the same result... nothing. So now we have stopped paying them because we are not getting what we were sold on and the finance company, Foundation Financial, is threatening to put a lien on our house/sue us! Why should anyone have to pay for a product they are unsatisfied with?? And RainSoft doesn't even care because they already got their money from the finance company!! Horrible, horrible, horrible!!!!
We had our local RainSoft dealer contact the homeowner in an effort to work through their concerns.
Apparently they were using the incorrect outside hose bib with untreated water to wash their cars. (A second hose bib with softened water is installed, and should be used for this purpose.) The customer's water was tested again by the dealer, and it was found to be 0 grain hard; the system is operating properly.

We bought the original system a number of years ago and recently added on an iron filter. The unfortunate part is that the sales representative said it really should have been put on when we moved here because we’ve had ongoing problems with the water softener all along and it’s all because of iron. And if we had the filter in the first place for iron… we wouldn’t have the problem. Up to this point, we’ve been disappointed. We’re on a better path but overall, we thought we were buying a Cadillac and just didn’t feel like that’s what we ended up with. People at my husband’s work laugh at him because they bought a $200 system from Sears and put it in and have no problems and we have had just nothing but problems.

One star is too much. This company is terrible to deal with. They recently came to fix my rainsoft water softener. The service person came and said "I'll have it fixed in ten min." Two hours later (and me late for work) the softener still didn't work, the serviceman said he didn't have the part with him and would have to return. So I called to make another appointment. The first question they asked was how I was going to pay the bill and that they accepted credit cards. I told them that this was a warranty repair on my rainsoft unit, there should be no bill. They then told me that the service call was not covered, only the parts. The service call was 75 dollars and they would have to charge me again for the second service call. At that point I told them I refused to pay for a second call. Why should I pay twice because their service tech could not fix it the first time? Their answer was, "well he did put a lot of parts on the unit".
So they expect me to pay for their employees incompetence? Well now I'm receiving harassing calls at all times of the day and even on holidays. They have been everything from demanding a credit card number to threats of "coming to my home to collect". I've even been accused of tampering with the unit! It's like I'm dealing with the local bully..not a local business. Let me remind you this is over a 75 dollar bill.... Although now they claim it's almost 200 to cover the cost of the parts... parts that are covered under Rainsoft's lifetime warranty. Now I'm really confused... Bottom line is that they don't care about the customer, all they care about is taking your money. Take your business to Culligan of Meadville or even C.A.Curtze in Erie (They do sell softeners to the general public as well as service them). Rainsoft could seemingly care less about all this. I've spoke to them several times as well. I will however say when the unit worked it worked well.

Then the top part of it (the heart of the matter and what makes them tick) died and so I got the updated version that instead of flushing every day, it flushes out the X amount of gallons (I think it’s 77 gallons). The guy took a picture of it and brought it down to me. I’m in a cast from my toes to my knee and has been this way since September 25th. He was really nice when he came. I signed all the papers, and then he says, “I took a picture so you’d know what I did.”
Fantastic company!!! They warranty, guaranty. They come here once a year and make sure everything is working well. They test my water all the time. I had a problem 4 or 5 years after I got the system. Something wasn’t doing what it was normally doing and they ended up putting a second fixture in the garage. The water system has a huge well that you put the salt in. Now I have two wells because it wasn’t taking something out of the water that they discovered. I didn’t even notice the difference. The only thing I noticed today was I emptied the dishwasher and there were some little specks on the glasses - I was expecting that since having this product that I’d have no water spots and no residue on glasses. And this was the first I had noticed anything so I don’t know what to attribute that to.
I’d say until I saw the specks on the glasses, I was pleased with RainSoft. If that continues, I’ll probably call the troubleshooting number just to find out what’s up because it certainly isn’t an inexpensive product, but it seemed like it’s the top of the line for water softeners.

We had been considering getting a water softener because I know the water is very hard and I have a lot of calcium deposits in my things. I was approached at Home Depot by the RainSoft rep. They came to my home and were very good and knowledgeable. I was very impressed with the installation team. It took quite a while and they were very meticulous and cleaned up after themselves, explained everything to me that they were doing and considering doing. My son is a plumber too so I have a little bit more knowledge than the average consumer. Also, there’s a big difference in our water since having it installed.

And then we found out that our well has sulfates or something so we are going to get the reversible osmosis filter. We still haven’t got it installed yet so we can’t tell the difference with the water. They have set it up and helped us get the water lines run. I was very happy with their service. They came in and were quick. It got postponed one time but after that, it was fine. After the system was installed, I noticed a few difference with our water. Our experience with their sales representative went very well. The salesman came out and we talked. He took a good look at what was happening with the water softener, why it was going that way, and then made us an offer on a new one. We got on a conference call and bought it. It’s really nice. I like it. The installation team was excellent. They come in and put it in. They’re very quick. You never knew they were here. They’re just very neat, professional and have all the information that you need and went over everything. It was great. It’s more high tech. There’s less chance of the same problems happening with it. I had a real good experience with RainSoft.

We had been talking about getting some kind of softening system put in our house. We had been calling a couple other people, but RainSoft was the first to reach out to us.They left a card on our door. They were the ones that did the legwork to try and get our business, so that was good…no complaints.
Their service was relatively good: the representative was polite and not overly pushy and did understand the product and knew exactly what he was talking about. There was not stumbling over his words and unsure of what he was doing. I did have to email to stop the salesman to get out of his sales pitch; I was just like, “Tell me how much it’s going to cost,” because they try and do that whole method of trying to get you to see their advantage of cost savings. The installer actually knew what he was doing and there weren’t any problems with any “Oh, sorry, but you got this kind of problem and it’s going to be another day.” So it was a fairly good experience.
They said that once it was installed, they were going to be back in a week to check it because it looks more cloudy than it should be. So I think the system has to be tweaked a little bit, but I haven’t heard from anybody yet.

I have noticed a difference in the water since installation. But I have called Rainsoft since they’ve installed it because I don’t think that my balance is correct. So they’re going to come out on Friday, retest the water and see if the tanks aren’t set up right. It seems like it’s too soft. The experience with the sales and installation people was awesome. Both were good. The little salesman was quite a salesman for his age. And I asked the install team, “Does that kid sell a lot?” And they said, “Yes, he’s one of their top salesmen.” I believe it. He was pretty good. Because I actually had no intention of purchasing one that night he came out. I sent in a water sample to Home Depot and was contacted by RainSoft dealer. He insisted they had to have a larger sample than that which was sent for analysis. I arranged a meeting at 4 pm and he came out and tested the water but gave me no written test results. Since it was a new well, he said he could not really tell what the particulate matter would be after the well settled down, but he would not come test it later and insisted on selling me a system that I really did not want. He called someone who claimed he would give me a special deal on a "demonstration system from a show in West Virginia - (Only $5995). This is the highest pressure and rudest salesperson I have ever had contact with. I told him three times that I had to leave and he would not let me go until I signed a contract. When I was in Home Depot, they had offered different suggestions as far as home improvement and RainSoft happened to be one of the suggestions. I purchased the water softener and air purification system. I really can’t tell any difference. If I run the water long enough, then yeah, I can. But as far as just the way that they made it sound or the way that they made it seem that it was just a difference between night and day, like you’re going to use less soap and all this, I don’t see that. I almost feel like it’s a scam. I was actually going to call them up and have them come out.
The other thing too is that thing is close to $9000. It just seems like an astronomical amount of money. I understand that when they first came out with those polymer beads that it will be expensive. But over time, it’s technology perfected. Things like that are just a thing of the past. I’m not impressed at this time. They really kind of pushed the reverse osmosis water, the RO water, as far as it being better for the body and everything else. I was expecting so much more. I wanted to get a water softener for the house and I’m trying to remember how RainSoft came to my attention. It may have been when I was at Home Depot and then I set up a consultation for the salesman to show up at the house. What happened was we were in the middle of moving and literally, boxes were being unpacked and brought in and the salesman walked straight into the house to the garage. That kind of bothered my wife. But the salesman was cordial. He was nice. I was in a rush so I just immediately wanted to see, “Okay, what type of deal can you do for me?” And then I was able to convince my wife that it’s probably the best thing for us to do because it was the whole house water filtration system and softening system. And then I just immediately got him to commit and brought him a check right there.
The only other thing was that he never presented me with a water test. But it may have been because I was just so rushed and wanted to get things out of the way, get things done. He said he might be able to deliver the system the next day which for me was an incentive because we just moved in. I’d like to start with some clean, fresh water immediately. I did get a call from their customer service people and I said I never got the water sample. I don’t know what’s the water hardness or what other chemicals are in this water. They sent someone out who did do that and then they served that.
I’m very happy with the system and if I would recommend any of this to a friend, I would tell them that they need to take a little bit of time and not rush it the way I did. But the fact that we can drink from any faucet without having to go through the filter system like in the refrigerator is great.

I’ve already got two people that are interested and so I need to find three more they said. The two people I asked about it, they are definitely interested in a purified water system. I said, “You don’t even have to get it. You just have them come out and test it.” They go, “No, I don’t want to know.” I’m like, “Okay. If my water is like this your water is like this because it’s coming from the same area because it’s in a complex.” But you know what really sold me on it? It was when she took my wet cloth with some soap and the purified water on it and cleaned two pieces of my stainless steel appliances. It was just amazing the difference in the water. They were on the other end of town so I guess that went for 30 something years because we’ve been here 39 years. I tried to treat the water myself at first and realized I wouldn’t be able to do it and so people recommended Rainsoft. I think it was where I was trying to buy my chemical equipment and stuff like that.
Interaction with the Rainsoft people was fine. They use somebody different all the time. I mean they’re a big enough company. People come and go. Some of them are the same ones that come but I get along fine with them. I have to ask them to check the hardness and everything every time. They just perform a routine check right out the door and usually I’ve got unusually acid water here and the pH has to be brought a little bit above neutral to keep from getting the blue stains and so they usually don’t want to take it above that and it requires an extra chemical and then they have to put another chemical, go back to the office, get this other chemical and put it in. Then it has to be washed out or cleaned out every 3-6 months or something like that or else it’ll stop the system up and then the water will get start running slow. So it’s just a constant thing but I guess everybody in this neighborhood has the same water so I guess we’re all dealing with it.
I could tell a difference in the water since the system was installed. It’s nice but the pressure goes down. It’s the pump. The well pump gets on and off and it gets a little low and the shower then gets a little disturbing but you can’t have everything I guess. It’s something you have to put up with. I had a partial installation and the rest - there are two Rainsoft systems. So one was installed. The other one was supposed to be on Saturday but I decided not to have it because it’s way too expensive. I had the RO done but they’re going to come and take that back also. I don’t know enough about this system and it seems to be very expensive. I looked online and there are other products that seem to be cheaper but basically I was approached at Home Depot and they wanted to come over and so they came over on that same day and just like that right away and it was very late at night already. I feel like I was pressured into it and then they kept calling me and I told them no and they kept calling and calling and the one thing that I had installed, the RO on my sink, I’m still not happy with it.

I got the Rainsoft water softener. I was just upgrading the water softener that we already have. The interaction with the sales rep and installation team went great. Everybody was great. I can’t really tell a difference in the water because when they did the test, the water was clean. The difference I can tell is the amount of salt. It’s not using as much as it is before. It’s more efficient. The Rainsoft people knew what they were talking about. They were very professional and there was no pressure involved.

The installation guy was really nice and then another guy came and they were good. They had to run quite a bit of pipe and they took out quite a bit of the drop ceiling. They put everything back. They vacuumed. They were really good and really nice. As far as the salesman, he was great because my husband is not sold easily on things. But what convinced me was when he tested the water and I thought it's interesting that we get bottled water too but it just looked so bad and we could tell the difference right away as far as softness. A big difference in just a short amount of time really. For instance, it just makes your skin and everything really soft and I changed my fish tank water and I can’t believe how crystal clear it is. And the fishes are doing fine so I guess they liked it. It’s really a great system. A little more pricey than we wanted to spend but you get what you paid for. I already have recommended Rainsoft to my neighbors.

I’ve been looking around at different machines and different softeners because we have hard water here and I was having to buy bottled water and I’m throwing away a lot of plastic. And then I saw one from Rainsoft at Home Depot. It didn’t have a price and I was talking to this other gentleman. He's talking and he was telling me that they had bought one and that his wife was very happy and it has… on and on and I said, "Okay, I'll give them a call and see how it goes.” So I did and they came by and I bought it. Everything went really nice and really smooth. I’m very happy with the water with the way it’s coming out and all. It’s a lot softer, a lot better. Everything’s clear. I don’t have to buy any more plastic bottles.

I filled out some kind of survey at Home Depot and immediately received a call from this company for a "free water test". We recently purchased a house, so I was interested to see and they offered us gift cards. They gave me 0 explanation as to what type of products I was going to be offered to purchase and minimal information. I wasn't that concerned and they said it would only take an hour, so why not. The salesperson was nice enough at first and relatable. He gave a good presentation but things quickly turned sour when we told him we could not afford it. He put pressure on us that made us uncomfortable. I was a salesperson for years and I really DO NOT like salespeople that apply pressure tactics. It is a huge turn off.
Fact is we could not afford the $8,000 system that they were trying to offer us, and after looking at reviews on here people purchased the same thing for far less, which makes me very skeptical. I will be interested in buying a water filter system in a few years once things settle down and you can bet I will not be buying it from this company. The company will do better with at least providing some information to the consumer beforehand because the salesperson acted like I wasted his time, but mine was wasted - I could have told them off the bat I wasn't interested. It TOOK THREE HOURS of my time. Furthermore they told me I would get two gift cards. I only got one. Clean water is important. It's a good product but unfortunately in this economy it is more a luxury. Not sure how they expect someone to make a $8,000 decision in 10 minutes.

After my initial review, we were contacted, and each issue was settled fairly, and I am very happy with the way things were handled.
Original Review: Sept. 26, 2013
We have honestly never had so many issues with a company before this. They make promises that they really have no intentions of fulfilling. They promise solar covers to protect the unit, they promise a free cruise, they promise two years' worth of soap products. They made several promises to get us to sign, but once they have the financing, they are done. We have had to make no less than three calls about each issue, and have only gotten a few of those issues settled. They complain about how far away we live, and "we don't have anyone out in your area for a few days". Then they never show up. I hate having to call them and call them over and over and ask "Um...hey, what about that box of soap you promised?" Or "Oh, um, I thought you guys were supposed to come back out and retest the water". Each time they act like we are asking them to take our dog to the vet. For the money we spent, I expect professional service. But, I just feel like we are asking them for favors.

I did purchase the Rainsoft water softener and filter. Someone just called one day and I’m like I’m interested because the water here in Arizona of course is very hard. So the guy came over, gave us the demonstration which was very informative and insightful and we decided to go for it. I could tell a difference in the water since it was installed. The experience with the sales rep was very good and the installation guy was very good as well. I’m very pleased with everything that’s happening here. I’m just curious as to when the things that we were promised are going to arrive. I was supposed to be getting like a laundry detergent, some dish soap and bar soap and some glass cleaner and that hasn’t shown up yet. They said that they had someone coming by last week because they were going to be in the area but no one has shown up. But I would say the whole experience with Rainsoft was life-changing.

Purchased system about July/August of 2011 from RainSoft dealer, Atlantic Water Products in Mays Landing, NJ. When they installed the system, the drinking water spout didn't work right and continued to smell like rotten eggs for several months. I called and left a message that I needed service to come look at the problem. No call back. A month later, called again, another voice mail - no call back. Hired another company to fix the issue and spent another $150 for them to service and fix the problem. They took out the a 4th filter that is supposed to put good stuff back into your drinking water. After a year or so, an alarm would go off on the filter saying it is time for service. I called and they told me when the service tech comes out, they will show me how to fix it.
Reluctantly, I finally got an appointment with Atlantic Water Products and they came out, changed 2 filters in the kitchen. I had them turn the alarm completely off since they won't give you the code to do so to force you to have them service the filter. At this time, they told me they didn't bring the bulb that kills germs in the air vent and it will be another $100 to bring one out and replace it. I told them about the 4th water filter and they want to charge me another $199 just for the filter that never worked in the first place. To make matters worse, the company I hired to fix the drinking water issue told me they can put the same system in for less than $2000 when I was charged almost $5,000. Sure they throw in some shampoo and hand cleaner that you will use a few times until you realize that it is not good quality like they say when you buy the system. I would not buy from them again and I will not recommend them for sales or service.
We contacted the customer on September 26 to inform him that we had arranged for the local authorized RainSoft dealer to set up a service call. On October 10, the service was performed, all systems were inspected and checked, and the system is operating normally. The customer reports he was pleased with the service and confirms that the system is operating as expected.

I perceive it with the way the water feels. When you wash your hands, it feels a lot better. It seems to taste better too.
The sales representative was very good and very thorough. We were pleased with him. And when they came to install, they were very professional and did what they had to do and didn’t litter. They did it, got it done and left. So it was a good experience all the way around.

I had been talking for a long time about a water softener. We are on a well and there’s a lot of calcium and iron in the water. No bad taste but calcium and it’s a real hard time keeping everything clean with that calcium. So I got fed up and I heard about RainSoft from my niece. She has something from RainSoft but she doesn’t have a water softener. She has some kind of a special filter for iron, for something else. So she gave me the name. And then I called them and they came. I called another company, I asked around but I decided I better go with RainSoft.
The salesman was very polite and when I called him back and talked about the price, back and forth, he seemed reasonable. I called him back and I talked to him again about the price, and then two days later or something like that the guy came to install it. I told the salesman, “You better tell him because I wanted like the outside line for the garden, for the two watering systems for outside. I wanted this to remain the way it was before.” So they have to install a separate piping. And I told the salesman. “Oh, don’t worry about it. He’s going to have all the things with him.”
The guy who was here installing, the plumber, he wanted to put the pipe one way and I said, “I don’t like this thing. You do it like this.” He said, “Fine.” When he came, he didn’t have enough so he went to the store. He disappeared. He came back and he did the other thing nicely, no problem.

We originally had a RainSoft system installed in our house two years ago or so, and then we moved. So we had the system brought here, and then just this past week we got the iron filter and upgraded our system. We heard of them through Home Depot when we were in there. We gave a water sample and then they came to our house. At the time, we were living in the city and we were just starting to have a family and had a new baby. We saw their water test and by seeing their water test, we just immediately knew we needed a water system, but I honestly didn’t even look at other systems at that time, but we were happy with them anyway.
The first experience, everything was fine. They said like your ice cubes would be clear and it really wasn’t. And I called them back and they did retest and they said it was fine or whatever, but it was kind of like I thought, “Ha, I wonder if I just paid $1,000 on a system and if it really is working or not.” Then this last time, we called them and had the water system moved. And when I bought the system originally, I knew we would be moving. They had told me that they would move the system for free one time or whatnot and then they kind of went back a little bit on that, but they ended up giving me the half price of moving it because it wasn’t included in the contract or something.
But anyway, that was still fine. But then they installed the water system and did the test. But they failed to mention to me that this water system was not equipped for a house on raw water which is coming from city water. And I thought that as installers or whatnot, you could have just said, “Just so you know, the system can’t keep up with your house. It’s not even really going to do anything.” I felt a little bit hesitant about that and our water here was awful. Everything was turning yellow and it was just the worst water you could ever imagine. So when I called them, I ended up calling several other companies and had them all come out and test our water and they all recommended the iron filter and a bigger system and whatnot. So I called RainSoft back, which of course their systems are the most expensive, just to see what they would do because otherwise, I was stuck with a $1,000 system and I figured I’d get a whole other system for my house.
I ended up choosing RainSoft again just because of their lifetime warranties on everything that the price ended up maybe not so bad because we do have such bad water that they’ll probably be out often to replace something and stuff. So this time, the people I dealt with this time wasn’t selling, coming out and testing again and calling in. He was much, much better. I very much appreciated him. Overall, I can say RainSoft has good customer service and was very friendly to work with.

If after I’m finished, you say you don’t want it, then I’ll leave.” Well, he kept saying, when I said I don’t want it, he said, “I haven’t done my job right. You got to give me more time to do my job right.”
Well, my 95-year old mother, after hearing all this talk about how horrible the water was said, “I want it. I want it.” So I got a water softener because of her. I didn’t want the damn thing. What is it, $4,000? First of all, he starts out and says it’s going to be $6,000 and I said, “Absolutely not.” And then, finally he came down to $3,999 or some thing. I mean, the whole thing is just a scam. And I think it’s overpriced, and there’s no way I’d recommend it to anyone.
But the installation team was absolutely fine. And I can tell a difference in our water since having the system installed. I don’t like it in the shower, that’s slippery. And scares the hell out of me for my 95-year old mother. They gave us boxes and boxes of the soaps and stuff that I haven’t had a chance to open up. And I guess the water tastes better. We had a rep show up at our home and offered to do a water test on our tap water for free. I told him that we actually drank bottled water instead of the city tap water. He said that he would test the tap water, the bottled water, and our tap water after treatment with the RainSoft filtration. I was game but totally surprised at the results. I knew the RainSoft system was one of the best, and was not surprised that the filtration of my tap water resulted in a drinkable source free of contaminants. What shocked me was that my unfiltered tap water was less contaminated than the BOTTLED water. I had been throwing money away on bottled water when my tap water was actually cleaner water!!!
Anyway, back to the point, we had the whole house system installed, including the kitchen sink, under counter double filtered, fountain head added to the sink. We also had it installed so our outside faucets were filtered, and what a difference it made in my garden!!! My plants love it as much as we do. My husband said he had to get used to his skin feeling soft after rinsing instead of the usual dry left behind "soap scale" feel. The product is great, the rep was not only able to answer all our questions, but was entertains also. The installation crew was knowledgeable, efficient, and had the system installed in less time than I thought it would take. After installation, they went over the system programming with us until we were comfortable with the system. I highly recommend this company, and have done so numerous times.

When I bought this house, we had well water. First, I had Culligan come in here and I had them for about three months; they weren’t working. I saw this ad for Rainsoft in Kalamazoo. I guy called me - I didn’t call him actually - and he wanted to test my water. I said, “Okay fine. Come on over.” He tested it and said, “You know, you need a water softener.” I said, “I know that. I have Culligan here.” He said he didn’t care because they had Rainsoft. “Well, Rick, I’ll try you. What do I do with this?” I said. He said, “Well, we’ll disconnect it and we’ll put it in.”
This was quite a few years ago. I had Rainsoft from like, say, 1989. I had one and it got old and busted so I got another one. It worked fine, up until a couple of weeks ago and I had filters there. The guy in Kalamazoo just went out of business or something and I couldn’t get a hold of anybody there. I called Rainsoft but when they gave me this guy, Simply Water, he’s way on the other side of the state. And I said, “Is he going to come?” “Yeah, he’ll come here.”
What happened was, I had a filter and I was changing the filter and it hit the top of my gizmo on my Rainsoft. I don’t know. It just destroyed it and I had it for while. So I said, “Okay, I’ll call this guy up.” He came over and he looked at it. It was a choice between another water conditioner or hooking up to city water. Well, I’m from Chicago. I’ll hook up the city water, I’ll do that, but it’s not easy over here.
First of all, it costs $6,000 to tap into the city water. Plus, we have to get a contractor to go from the street all the way past on your property, and I’ve got a nice property. It looks like a baseball field. Then they’re going to mess up my furniture. I said, “It’s actually going to cost me almost $11,000. I’ll just get one for another for $3,000." So I had Simply Water put it in. And this one here, I’m very satisfied. This one here is guaranteed for life. If I ever have any problem, all I do is call them up and they come over and fix it.
My interaction with them was beautiful. I mean, the people were magnificent. Rick, who owned Simply Water, came out. He looked at it. I told him, “We’ll get it. I’ll write you a check. Just put it in.” So the kid that came over here, he was just tremendous. And he put the old one out and he said, “We’ll take that and we’ll put this one in.” And he put it in and he said, “You’ll be happy with it.”
Number one, he said, “Why do you have these filters here?” “I don’t know. The other guy told me I needed it.” He said, “You don’t need that.” So he took that out of there with no charge. And he hooked everything up. I do have a filter there to take off the color of the water. And that works fine. I’ve been getting these filters and they cost me like $30 apiece. And the guy said, “Are you crazy? I’d give you six filters that cost $7 apiece.” I said, “You’re kidding me.”
So I got the six filters with it. Those six filters are going to last me two years for crying out loud. So he put it in. It was just TREMENDOUS! I can’t tell you how good they were! I mean, they’re terrific! And they come from way on the other side of the state. This is AMAZING.
He said, “We go all of Michigan, some parts in Indiana, and some parts of Ohio.” I said, “You’re kidding me.” He said, “No.” And I think it’s just terrific. So now, I got the new one in and I’m very happy with it. It cost me $3000 instead of $12,000. And I got good water. You could drink my water. I said, “Oh, my god! This is terrific!”
I got good water but I needed a water softener. When my water softener was busted, we couldn’t use it and you could tell the difference even when you took a shower. You can get no soap. Now, you go shampoo with a little spot in your hand and you get all kinds of lather. I think RainSoft and Simply Water is terrific. I would never have anything bad said against them. Nothing.
They were really good and the funny part about it was when I called, I talked to the girl and she said, “Well, let me see their appointment here.” That time, I say, was on a Monday that I called them. “We were not going to be in that area until a week from today or maybe even longer.” “Oh, I can’t wait that long.” She said, “Wait a minute. Give me your number. I’ll call you back.” She called me back about an hour later and she said, “How about Thursday?” I said, “This Thursday?” She said, “Yeah. I can’t give you a definite time but he should be there between 1:00 and 3:00 because he’s got another job. They don’t know how long it takes.” “That’s fine. Wonderful.”
He came in. He was here at 3 o’ clock. He was done about quarter to 6:00 because he had to take that whole filter out, reconnect pipes for me, which he didn’t even charge me for. He didn’t have to do that and I’m very satisfied with them really. They were terrific! I’m very, very happy with them!

The computer part of it, he also explained all of that to me. I also got a little thing where it tells all about the water softener. The guy was great. I had a really nice experience!
There’s a lot of difference between this one and the one I had. I was going to town one day and was talking about it soon after we got it and my wife asked me, “Is it possible for water to be too soft?” I said, “No. And I’d notice that too. It’s just that this is getting more of the impurities out than the one before it did.” And she said, “Oh really.” I said, “Yeah.” We both really like it.
It’s a little noisier than the last one was and that’s about the only thing. The other one, we couldn’t hear it recycling when the water softener is regenerating, but this was noisy. We could hear it upstairs. Other than that, it’s fine. But it’s early in the morning and we’re using that up by then. My wife’s working and I’m in bed. Overall, it’s very good. I’d recommend it to anybody.

It’s been many years ago since I’ve gotten Rainsoft and just because I wanted it. My experience was very good. They were knowledgeable and cleaned up after. My water looks cleaner - it feels and tastes different. I’m very satisfied and would recommend them to a friend!

We had the RainSoft water conditioner and air purifier installed. With the air, I couldn’t tell a difference. The water, I can tell some differences. When you wash your hands in them, you still feel like you have soap on your hands even though you don’t. And as far as taste, when I make my tea, they told me that I didn’t need to use as many teabags, and so I use less. And it tasted better that way.
Sales and installation went okay. When the guy came out, he came out three days later. I don’t know what his title was but when he came out, there were a few things that I guess the guy who installed it had not done properly. He needed to fix it. They were courteous and nice. The reason I’m hesitating so much is because we really cannot afford it. And when we called about a week after having it installed, they said that they only have three days to cancel. So we’re trying to go through a process to get rid of it just because we can’t afford it. My husband signed it but they never left us the contract. That’s why I’m hesitant. I like the product. I just would’ve only bought it if I had the cash to pay for it. I would never have taken out a loan on a budget.

We had the water softener and filtration system from RainSoft installed. They came out to test our water as part of a promotion. And we went through that. We had been using bottled water and whatnot. We had concerns about the water just where we live obviously. It looked like a really good deal and we were interested obviously having our water treated. So we went ahead and purchased the system. Interaction with them was incredibly smooth. There’s a big difference in the quality of the water in the house in general, not just drinking water but obviously showers and everything. It’s night and day difference. I’m a tough sell as far as putting a 5 or putting the top of the line on anything. I guess I’ll give them a 5.

I had all three things from RainSoft. It was the water softener and the three-filter system at the sink. Then I had the air purifier thing that goes in the HVAC. I don’t smoke or anything like that. I haven’t been able to tell a big difference with the air part. Of course, with the water, yes, there is a difference. The experience with the sales rep and installation people was very good. I mean, I learned a lot of information from them. Not only did they just sell me a good product but they also gave me a lot of good information. As a matter of fact, I just got DirecTV installed and I was telling the installer about it. I gave him the phone number because he’s interested now. Because he was like, “What’s that?” And I started talking about it. I’ve only had it for a week and I’m already impressed with it. I’ve already recommended it to a couple of friends.
