My Father has had Orkin for over 45 years. For GOD'S SAKE. HOW MUCH OF AN INVESTMENT??? 3000.00 Termite inspections, 300.00 maintenance, MONTHLY sprays for 60.00. He's been having mice problems for YEARS. Still have roaches in a better than most maintained home. My visit from out of town after being military for years, I encountered meeting the exterminator who told me, "Hmmm looks like mice are here," as he continued spraying. Mad as hell I followed him asking, "ISN'T THIS YOUR JOB to get rid of them???" He said, "Oh I have something in my truck." He went, came back and handed my 83 year old Father white boxes to place, then left. This was 2011.

I bought traps, over 80 have been placed and DAD removes them. It's 2017, due to my health I can't come home. Per others and Dad, mice holes and now bigger (rats?) exist. The regular guy was out and his substitutes at least looked to see where they might be coming in and told my Father he is not supposed to be not taken care of. He has been a widower for 6 years, he's 89. He lives in a very humble modest home. He pays money to be safe and free from vermin and this. He's ALWAYS PAID ON TIME. He deserves better than this. He is a quiet kind-hearted man who thought, he didn't want to get anyone in trouble as he has mouse excrement and activity. I'm thoroughly disgusted. You can call that number I put in place to ask Dad if you care. Someone has to.

It's amazing how Orkin speaks about how experienced and professional their employees are but I can't even get anyone to come to my house for an inspection. I have had them cancel on me 4 different times. Once I was told "Well we don't do services on Saturdays so no one would have came anyway." Orkin actually called me EVERY TIME to schedule and NEVER showed up and once they did show up I was told I had to make another appointment. The company is very sad. I would never recommend them, I had to start calling just to make sure someone was gonna come and every time was the same answer "You're not on the schedule." SMH something needs to be done about this. I NEVER started services because they NEVER showed up.

I rent out my home in the US and live in another country. When I moved, I contacted the local office to have my name changed as I had just gotten married and to request E-bills. The person I contacted said they would handle getting my bills emailed to me that she would just have to put it on her calendar as the company doesn't provide that service. I was very impressed that she would do that for me. However, when the time came, instead of receiving an E-Bill, I got an email from her saying my payment was late. I messaged her that I hadn't received the original bill and she said that she asked the billing dept several months back to email it to me. Since they obviously didn't send me an E-Bill, I asked if she could contact them again and she refused. Since she had originally told me that they don't do that, I feel that she dropped the ball and was lying and trying to pass it off onto someone else.

I then asked her for their # so I could contact them and she deflected my request by asking me totally unrelated questions. I finally had to go on Facebook and message Orkin that way and was assured I would be receiving E-bills in the future. I won't know until spring if I will actually get an E-Bill this time or not. I also filled out a name change form through that same person a year ago and the tech who recently contacted me about an inspection is still using my maiden name.

The tech recently contacted me as it was time for my yearly inspection. I received a voicemail from him and then noticed by the # that he had called two times before and hadn't left a message. It took him 6 weeks from the first call to actually leave a message. I then reached him via text and told him he should schedule it with the company who rents out my house for me. I gave them his # and they called several times to schedule but there was no voicemail set up. It wasted their time as well as mine as I had to contact the tech via text again to see what was going on. He said he had been very busy. If that is the case, voicemail is crucial. Why does this company not provide voicemail for their employees or check to make sure they are using it?

I didn't give the tech permission to discuss anything with the realty company but he discussed his findings with them before I was even emailed his inspection report. I didn't want him discussing things with them as in my opinion they use scare tactics and overdramatize things to get your money. The first time they did an inspection they said I needed a moisture barrier and that there was some fungus on the boards under my house. There was no damage to the wood, however. They said that they could take care of it for a mere $4000. I then got the moisture barrier and wood sprayed on my own for under $500. I really think this company needs to get some better management in place at a minimum. I'm not sure I will be renewing my 7 year contract when the time comes.

I had been an Orkin customer for over 30 years - first 25 no problems - no pests. Last 3-5 years different pest control operators every 2-3 months some clueless. Told them if they keep adjusting my monthly rates higher every 2-3 months I'm out. I finally got tired of new operators and kept saying I'm out - they did not raise my rates still 55/month which was ok- newest ones last two months would make an appointment not show- I would call them day of service ask for a call back to inform them when I would be home or out- no returns calls, no service. Office Girls in Fayetteville, NC were different each time I called- nice but also not well. My last appointment was Saturday between noon and two- left two messages with Mike the operator no return calls no show. Now Tuesday no return calls to reschedule or apologize. This local company was ok once but now terrible- would not use them again if they gave it away.

Yesterday they sprayed for fleas. I did exactly as they said, vacuum, wash sheets, clothes, any fabrics around the house, and picked all things off the floor as well as strip the bed. Came back after the 4-hr wait from them spraying with what looks like a can you buy at Walmart of bug repellent. Fleas did not go away. They are even worse now. I called my local office and they informed me they would send someone out this morning. Well, no one showed. I called the office to figure out what was up, no answer. Hmmm, so I called the main office. They couldn't get in touch with them either. Seems weird. So, I asked if I was under a contract, "Technically you are, but if not satisfied within 30 days, you get your money back." Well, looks like I am unsatisfied and clearly not getting a resolution except getting my money back. Thanks for wasting my Saturday Orkin. I wouldn't recommend them to my enemies.

It's amazing to see other reviews from all over the country indicating really inferior service! I have a cottage in Maine, which several years ago had a problem with carpenter ants. In fairness to Orkin, they did get that under control and I didn't see ants for several years. But last summer and this past summer, their service has been terrible. Although they have the name and phone number of a person to let them in the cottage in May, they don't bother to call, just come and spray the outside. NOT what I'm paying for!

This past summer was the worst. The technician did a less than complete job and when I mentioned it, he was rude and dismissive. Before I left in August, I called the office to ask then to have someone come and spray while I was there. They made an appointment for 2 days later... I stayed in and waited, but nobody showed. I called again, and they promised to send someone the next day... Again, no one showed. At that point, a friend and I got some spray and sprayed around the house ourselves! Needless to say, I cancelled my service with Orkin. I'm not sure who's more incompetent... The office staff or the technicians!

I requested a quote for extermination services; the guarantee was 30 days. The representative provided checklist of what we needed to do. When it came to signing the contract, the checklist I was asked to sign was different. Wouldn't that void our contract if I didn't follow the signed checklist? Oh no! I didn't feel comfortable with the price, it was very expensive for a 30 day guarantee. I messaged Orkin and told him that. He said: Hello Mrs. **. At this point I would have no choice but to lower the price for you. With it being so late, we would take a loss on a day that was a". Yep, word for word. I have contacted the company twice without response. Save your money and time and find a professional. ORKIN IS NOT PROFESSIONAL.

I had a disastrous experience with an Orkin exterminator last Thursday, I live in Newman Village in Richmond, Va. They have a contract with Orkin. I don't and didn't have any pest. NONE! At all! He only sprayed the kitchen. I had the spray done only as a preventative measure. After he left (that night) in the wee hours, I got up for a glass of water. A swarm of fruit flies hit my face! To my surprise they were in a huge pile in the refrigerator! They were in a large pile in the freezer! They were dead in the freezer!

I had to throw all my fresh fruit and vegetables away. I am a senior on a fixed income and over half of my groceries were destroyed. The rental office assistant Becky ** that sent him says she doesn't know who he is! To add insult to injury she sent Orkin back today! Of course I didn't let them in. They tried to turn it around on me saying I must be had some spoiled fruit or something being the fridge. I explained to them my husband pulled the fridge from against the wall and it was clean! I got up at 5:30 am this morning cleaning them up and throwing away food!

There are several reviews on Orkin stating theory deposited eggs in homes of insects! Obviously a lot of their employees are dishonest! and don't have a conscience. This man played a cruel joke! I have been cleaning my refrigerator daily (since Thursday) off and on wiping up fruit flies! Spraying my kitchen and cleaning and more cleaning. Throwing away more food that flies contaminated! They are nowhere else in my house! Only in the kitchen where he sprayed on the side of the refrigeration. I have contacted several agencies trying to find out who this man is. I contacted ** , the Service Manager in an effort to try to identify this man. This is immoral and reckless behavior because it can get someone sick!

We recently called Orkin after discovering we had a roach problem. Having never had to deal with a bug problem before, we called what we thought was the leading exterminators in our area. We were quoted an initial price and was told we needed to go to huge lengths, such as clearing out cupboards, putting everything onto the kitchen table, and covering everything with sheets due to the extensive spraying the would need to do. They also told us to be out of the house for 4 to 6 hours after the treatment. We followed all the directions and paid for a motel room as I have extreme health issues, just to be safe.

The technician showed up almost an hour late for our appointment, told us we didn't have to leave, nor did we have to go to the extent of preparation they had told us we needed to do. We questioned all of what we were now being told. He didn't do an extensive spray treatment, stating that he didn't have the supplies on his truck to do so. He did, however spray the front door and a few other spots and set bait traps. We had to call them back 4 days later because the roaches were worse than before they came. We let them know about it and they said that the tech would be sent back to our house at around noon the same day we called. Once again, no tech showed up when they said he would. By this point we were thoroughly disgusted and felt robbed by this company. We ended up canceling Orkin completely and calling another exterminator. We would never use them or refer them to anyone ever.

In March of 2017 I contacted Orkin with a bedbug outbreak. They came and claimed they treated everything correctly. After, 5 visits and $1300 We are looking for other alternatives because we are still having a problem with them. Very displeased with the service they claim to provide. The supervisor told us a correct treatment should take about an hour. We had cameras in our house and all 5 times was 20 minutes or less in a 4 bedroom home. We also, had to throw away our furniture due to them saying the eggs were hatching because they couldn't spray all areas of furniture. So on top of paying 1300 we also have to buy new furniture if we can ever get this situation taken care of.

We were very satisfied with results of their service and decrease in scorpions. Then about a year ago we started seeing roaches. We complain about roaches all the time and we are still seeing them. They have a new technician every time and this problem is still not fixed.

I called Orkin Pest Control in the past 2 days to set up an appointment for Friday 8-18-17 from 8am-10am. When I called it was explained to me that the service would be every other month, $99.00 a month starting this month for 6 months. I asked was there a contract, the agent said, "No try us out for 6 months. If you like us we'll go from there." I gave him my credit card to start advised he would not be charged until after the first treatment.

The rep shows up at 9:44 am, with about 3 or 4 forms tells me before he gets started I need to sign all these documents and the 1 year contract. I advised him "That is not what I was told over the phone", and felt I was mislead and given false information. The agent apologized and said "This is why I go over this before I start the work", seems this has happened before. I wasted my time for this. This sort of flip/flop cannot be legal and assuming a technique they use to get people to sign stressing about their bud issues. I really disappointed. I thought this was a good company, I was wrong, I guess anything to take your money.

Now that we are divorced and I ask that office about the account she tell me my name is not on the account. Sometimes it's not what you say, simply how you say it. Last month we didn't get a spray but got the receipt of our house being sprayed! So I called and asked them how did I get a receipt when my house hasn't been sprayed and they replied with “the guy sprayed all the outside”... which is a total lie!! I have 2 German shepherds that aren't fond of strangers so I know for a fact he didn't spray!!!

And let me mention that my bill is TO BE SENT IN THE MAIL because I do not allow them to withdraw because they have screwed me over so many times in the past by not doing it when it was due and instead earlier and throwing me in overdraft!! So I have called so many times for them not to have permission to withdraw at all!! Anyways back to them not spraying, I called and told them I needed to schedule a spraying because I still hadn't gotten my spraying for the 3 months!!! I called 4 times and never got a call back so I told them “Forget it I'm not gonna pay for something I'm not getting!!!” I look at my bank and they withdrew a payment without my consent!!!

I made a contract with Orkin Dallas, TX. The initial home visit the Technician Rodney stated that he could not verify the type of bugs that were biting me. However, after three service visits and charges, Rodney informed me that I had "bed bug." Per Rodney, he does not do services for "bed bug." According to Rodney, that service is a separate service and will inquire separate fees.

I called Orkin's Customer Service questioning then what Rodney had informed me. I could not understand why he waited and allowed me to continue paying for services that has not resolve my pest control issues. I asked to speak to a manager. Instead, I was allowed to leave a contact number. I waited for two days. I finally decided to call Orkin Customer Service back and this time I was not very happy. I received a call back from " John." I explained my concerns to "John." John informed me that it was "impossible for him to get to me today." however, will try.

Now mind you I am still experiencing discomfort with the biting. Nevertheless, I had to wait an entire weekend with this discomfort. In fact, "John" did not come to my home until late afternoon on Tuesday. Well, after "John" looked he took samples and he too didn't know what type of bugs, but for sure it was not bed bugs. "John" informed me that he would take my samples to be analyzed and would get back to me one day next week. Meanwhile, he suggested that I call my doctor to get a prescription or use some over the counter medication.

I followed his suggestion. I waited for "John" to call me back. Instead, I end up call him. Again, I had to leave a call back number. When I received a call from John he tells me that I have "Mite." But, he not going to provide me with service that not need. Per "John" I just feeling old bug bites. I am so upset. First they didn't know what type of bugs that were biting, second I was told that I had "bed bugs" and the service for that will cost me extra fees, and third l feel I have been given the runaround. And, the bugs keep biting!

Sorry this is lengthy, but it's the truth of what we've been through with this horrendous company. I live in a 1 bedroom apartment with my husband and son, we have a cockroach problem which has been getting worse for some time. The owner of the building uses Orkin. Now, when we moved in, we rarely saw roaches, but over the last year or two the problem has progressively gotten worse and this company does nothing to solve the problem. They would never call and let anyone know when they were coming out so I could never pull my furniture away from the wall, WHAT GOOD IS IT GOING TO DO IF YOU ONLY HIT TWO feet of wall in each room?!

He also said it was safe for us to stay here during and after he sprays which wasn't true. Then when we complained enough and he started to let us know when he's coming out, he wouldn't show up or call anyone to reschedule. When he finally did come out, I asked him to spray my kitchen cabinets, he began spraying while I'm in the kitchen still (I am 5 months pregnant btw) and then we were actually told we need to leave for a few hours. I was told to vacuum up bodies and egg sacks the next few days and I did, but he also said we could not wipe out our cabinets and just put a cabinet liner down between the poison and dishes which I knew wasn't correct information. I know to let it sit and dry, I'm not stupid, but to not wipe it out? Really?! My cabinets were covered in roach feces! I have to wipe them out!

Then the next time he comes out, I'm not home and he tells my husband's he told me to clear out ALL of my cabinets again or what he does will be useless! No he never told me that and he would have never sprayed the cabinets in the first place unless I told him. He also told my husband that it's an ongoing battle and it's going to take him multiple times to get rid of them, keep in mind every time he is here the roaches aren't dying, they're just getting high, so I know this guy is watering down his solution so much that it isn't doing anything!

The buildings next to us use a private company and my sister in law lives in one, her roach problem was worse than ours, but after one spray from the other company, she never saw another roach in her apartment again and all of the buildings on our block are roach free except for ours who has Orkin on the job! I'm sick of it. I've taken it up with the owner and I hope he will do something, but I also let the owner know they were ripping him off, telling him they were coming out to spray and charging him, but nobody was showing up. I'll never recommend them to anyone ever, it has been a nightmare of lies, ** and an apartment still full of nasty roaches! I'd give them zero stars if I could.

My technician has always been on time, courteous, immaculate, and has always taking care of my home. If I ever had a problem, he came right back with no questions asked. I wouldn't go anywhere else. Well, we just had Envirotech come out. Guess what? Termites are still there! They treated ONE portion of the house - not the whole thing! This company is JOKE!!! DO NOT USE.

We found tiny white bugs in our house after a dog was outside in our garden. We called Orkin as they just provided us with a treatment a few days ago. The technician "thought" the bugs were lice which I found hard to believe but was told that Orkin doesn't treat for lice. Well it turns out that the little bugs were aphids and not lice - great call Orkin man!!! I will be asking for my money back and cancelling further treatments from a company with untrained technicians. Scare averted but wow completely different treatments. Don't use the Harrisburg area technicians or the local customer service - very poor on both ends.

I called Orkin to set up a time for them to come out to my residence last Thursday (5-18-17) and they said they would be by between 2-4pm. Around 4:15-4:20pm no one from Orkin has shown up or even called to inform me of the situation. I called Orkin to see what the problem was and they said one of their employees quit. I told them that that was unfortunate, but why would no one contact me to inform me of the situation, since I took off work to meet at the arranged time. The rep said she was sorry and re-scheduled for the following Tuesday, yet the interesting thing is a rep called me on Monday and said they were on their way out to see me, to which I told them it was supposed to be for the next day. I went ahead and left work once again. Long story short Orkin's price was $2k over 5 other quotes and with their sub-standard customer service/time management, I would highly NOT recommend using Orkin.

I recently called the Orkin man to treat my house for roaches. As embarrassing as it is, they told me the first 2 treatments would initially cost 140 dollars or something and 70 for any other trips after. On the second trip they decided to charge my credit card for 70 dollars and sent another man out to tell me I had termites! He gave me some ridiculous estimate. That's where my problem started, from that point on we no longer had roaches but my daughters were getting bitten by something in the night. The original Orkin man came back for a final treatment to guarantee the roaches were gone and I showed him my daughter's arm. He said it was bed bug bites and that he would get back to me, which he never did.

Anyway, my concern is that I find it really ironic how they treated me for roaches and as soon as they were gone I get bed bugs? That to me seems like one heck of a coincidence, but more likely a setup! I have a certain feeling that while treating my house for the roaches they purposely infested my house with a pest that is much more difficult to get rid of without professional help! Granted I have no proof and this is all speculations but come on. In the world that we live in it makes perfect sense to me that they would protect their interests and try to force me to come back to their service! I left a complaint with their customer care and I highly doubt they actually care!! I am very displeased and would have highly recommended them to my friends but not now!!!

Will have to replace four or more of the floor joists. If Orkin was doing what they said they would do, why do we still have termites and are going to have to replace boards under our house? CON. They get the chemicals for free from Dow Chemicals so what are we paying for? Thieves in a white coat. Contract CANCELLED. Lawyer time.

Please read this review before you use this company. I went with this company based on the price and their willingness to complete services on weekends. I was 100% satisfied with the first visit Orkin paid. This is were my satisfaction ended. We thought we had mice in our attic, it turns out it was a bat based on the feedback from the Orkin rep. He also knocked down the hornet nest as well per our request.

Late summer quickly turned to winter in Minnesota. I understand we agreed to fine follow-up sessions, but the rep called two days prior to his arrival and always left a voice mail stating he was could to show up and to call him back if it was problem. I cannot take time off with only a two day advance notice! I am certainly not going to leave my house open for the rep to just walk in.

The services they offered were a joke. In January and February the rep claimed he walked around our house and spray for rodents and insects. He also claimed he knocked down old spider webs and bees nests. It is Minnesota!!! What insects are you spraying for? They all are dead!!! Additionally, you certainly should not be knocking down old webs and nests in the winter... What were you doing in prior months that I PAID YOU FOR? All insects have been dead for months... There could not possibly be new nests or webs in the middle of winter. What a waste of money.

This company apparently has a billing system that is not from this century. I was told simply because I did not sign up for the auto payment method, it means I don't get a bill in the mail until my account was 60-90 days past due. I should not need to beg this company to send me a bill in order for me to pay them. Even after I called to get this resolved, it continued to happen.

The one time I was even able to get the time off to accommodate the rep coming to my house, it came in and started spraying chemical INSIDE MY HOUSE. I did not ask him to do this nor was ok with it. But what was I suppose to do... He just started spraying and never asked for my permission??? Who knows if this was even a healthy chemical to spray indoors... Please look locally before agreeing to use Orkin.

I called Orkin because I thought I might have snakes in my basement. Turns out I didn't, but the Orkin representative said I did have a high moisture level in my basement (although there was no visible water) and that I should have the wood treated with boron and a moisture barrier installed over the dirt part of the basement. He also suggested a very expensive dehumidifier system. There was no way I could afford the dehumidifier (We are talking thousands of dollars), but I did agree to the boron treatment and the moisture barrier, for $2462.00. A major investment for me, since I am retired and this represents almost my entire monthly income.

On the day one young man spent 3 hours in my basement and when he left the plastic was just tacked to the ground, and didn't even overlap in some places. This seemed like not much for that amount of money, so I looked up basement moisture barriers online to see what this typically involved. Every site I visited said that in order to be an effective moisture barrier the seams must overlap and be glued and the edges must be sealed, adhering to the walls and adjoining floor.

An Orkin inspector came out and he seemed to agree that the work was not adequate and assured me that he would send someone out to fix it. Today two men came out and glued, but did not seal, the seams and did not seal the edges at all. I was assured that this is how Orkin does it, so there doesn't seem to be any recourse except litigation, and I am not going to court. I have two issues with my experience. The first is that when there were no snakes, instead of just going away, the Orkin agent convinced me that I needed a service that I had not asked for. The second is the substandard quality of the work performed. Do NOT let Orkin perform this type of service for you. Get someone whose main business is waterproofing basements, not pest control.

I observed an Orkin applicator spraying a poison which he identified as Talstar on a building about six feet from my property line, where I am growing some organic vegetables. When I became concerned about this and asked if he had sprayed next to my fence yet, he smirked and said he'd already done it. I became angry and said this poison could wash off in the next rain and drain into my garden. He became belligerent and said he could spray anything legal on that property and that I had nothing to say about it, and ordered me off the property.

He then contacted the owners to complain, and have me removed. I left and later contacted Orkin who told me I could file a complaint with them if I wished. I talked to a state agency who suggested I could Google the product to find out more. I did learn this product is a possible human carcinogen. Evidently people who don't wish to be poisoned have no rights outside their own property. Zero stars for rudeness, arrogance, and no consideration for the health of others.

When they returned to perform the exact same service, on the exact same location in our house, for the exact same insect type, they did NOT consider the first treatment a failure and then reset the 30 day guarantee time period. While we would expect to pay for treatment in other locations, or for other insect types, this failure to resolve our Carpenter Bee problem and not consider the first treatment inadequate is unacceptable.

The $275 cost was more than expected for a very few dollars' worth of chemicals and 20 minutes of time. Neither local customer service nor corporate customer relations cared about this matter at all. In spite of a Customer Relations phone number, Corporate Customer Relations at Orkin appears to be essentially non-existent. When you call the Corporate Customer Relations number, the only menu choices are new service or referral to the local branch! Our business relationship with Orkin is now terminated.

Then, they transfer me to a girl who tells me I owe $300! WTF?!? I said, "No, I don't! I'm just trying to change the card on file so you can take out the monthly payment of $27!" The first 2 years the service was excellent however the last 1 1/2 years it dropped drastically to basically no service at all. My tech said I was allowed to have in between sprays from my regular dates, but when I started finding more cockroaches and kept calling him, I got no response and then finally he said I have to change my account to increase service. He didn't show up in my place for several months. When I called to see why service tech had not visited, I was told they had cancelled my contract because lack of payment and had turned me into collections for last payment. I inquired about what they were talking about as I have always paid my bills on time, I found out that they had sent the bill to my old address, but had never given me a courtesy phone call or email. Even though they had my correct email or phone.

I reset up my account with them and scheduled a date for tech to visit next time he was on Oak Island, NC. That Tuesday came and went, no tech, no treatment. Made more phone calls to tech's cell phone, text messages to him, called the Wilmington Orkin home office, spoke to both girls in office several times, asked to speak to manager several times with no response back from manager. Also was given wrong info each time I called them stating that manager and tech had called me, IPHONE's do have memory, no phone calls back.

As of today I cancelled my contract, I was then told that it had been canceelled and my key is in the mail already, what a joke as I was just calling them then to cancel. Will see if I receive my key or if I have to change my locks and add security code. VERY LOUSY BUSINESS FOR CUSTOMER SERVICE. DO NOT USE THEM. Called Manning pest control today on Oak Island and they set up an account for me in less than 5 minutes, and set tech up to come out when I could be available with 10 percent discount if paid for the whole year. I contracted with Orkin less than a year ago that was to include services when called or quarterly for one year. December quarterly visit - no show. January visit because December was missed - no show. March visit - had to call on day of appointment to encourage the tech to come out to keep the appointment or else it would have been a no show. On the March appointment tech brought a little tiny puffer of some sort and wanted to only apply treatment in a few corners of the home asking where I thought it should be applied. When asked about spraying the perimeters of the home - he stated, "We don't do that." (That's what I contracted for.) Then he went ahead and did that with much protest and put a sticky trap in one spot (which I did not request nor need). He still missed a few walls - which I pointed out.

Then I told him I wanted to cancel the "contract" since it is not providing any services as promised and not even quarterly. He called his manager and the following day I got an automated debit for $112 that was not authorized and that was never discussed with me. Special note - after they missed the December scheduled appointment, someone called and asked me if they could just show up and treat around the outside of the house. I denied this request because I needed to be there and there is no access to the back and sides of the house but through the inside access, and further, that is not what I contracted for. From my experience with them, they are only going to come out when a contracting opportunity is involved and they are not delivering services as promised or expected.

On 2/23/2017, an Orkin technician responded to my request for rodent control. He placed traps inside the kitchen and garage and advised on various ways to discourage rodents. Specifically, I told him that if a rodent is caught in the kitchen, I will not be able to handle it. Sticky boards were used in the kitchen instead of snap traps because I have a cat. The traps in the kitchen remained empty until late Saturday when it did trap a large rat. It was still alive, of course, and was aggressively trying to free itself. ORKIN advised that I was to call the technician and the call center for removing trapped rodents. I was never told what to do if one is caught on a weekend or after hours. I just assumed Orkin had technicians available during odd times. I called, no one answered. Left messages on technician's and call center's phones.

Sunday morning, sure enough, the rat got free and disappeared. The sticky board was empty. I called again. No answer. It is now 9 AM, PST, 2/27, 3 days later. Thus far, no one has called back. The trap failed because there was not enough glue on the board. The technician put one thin line of glue in the middle of the board. Must be short of glue or something. That rat has not returned. If it's smart, it is probably nesting in another part of the house. We worked hard and waited for this catch. A wasted opportunity. I signed a contract. I will only concede partial payment and dispute the rest. Their sticky boards are a joke. I went to Orchard Supply Hardware and bought some boards for myself. The entire surface of the boards I bought was fully covered with glue. That's how it should be.

Updated 03/01/2017: Continuing with my first review... the Orkin technician did not return my phone calls until Monday, 2/27. He did not listen to the 3 voicemail messages I left on his phone over the weekend and had no idea that one of Orkin's stick board did trap a rat late Saturday, 2/25, but broke free on 2/26. On the phone on 2/27, I complained that no one responded to my calls over the weekend. It was the first time that the technician explained Orkin's call center closes at 2 pm on Saturdays and stays closed until the following business day. Further, there is no after-hours technician available after 7 pm during the week. If I had known of these restrictions, I would never have signed up with Orkin. Further, the technician told me the rat was supposed to dive its nose into the glue to get the bait and, in so doing, suffocate. He said it's unusual for a trapped rodent to break free. Well, surprise comes in small packages! That one broke free.

Orkin did not provide for that contingency. And they are experts?! Consider this: if the rat had remained trapped but still alive or suffocated. Because there was no service over the weekend, that creature would have remained there all weekend, either squealing or decomposing. IN MY KITCHEN. Here's more... on 2/26, I went to Orchard Supply Hardware, bought my own sticky boards and added them to Orkin's boards under the kitchen counter.

On 2/27, some time between 4 and 6:30 pm, the rat emerged from its hiding place. I came home at 6:30 and there it was crouched in a corner. I blocked the kitchen entrance, grabbed my neighbor and he killed/disposed of the rat. All in 5 minutes. Free of charge. Homeowner, 1. Orkin, zero. Technician returned on 2/28 for regular rat trap check and removed the Orkin sticky board from which the rat broke free. Why did he do that? To remove the "evidence" of Orkin's incompetence, I gather. Clearly, if he had put more than just a thin line of glue, that rat would have remained trapped.

Orkin has protected this home for 58 years under the same contract!! Yes it is at an unbelievable price due to it never being cancelled. There is not a doubt in my mind of whether or not we were given an excellent product and application 5 years ago when they retreated for a termite infestation. They did a great job in repairing damage and the retreat. But, this is not the heart of the issue. The heart of the issue is, Orkin wants to nullify a bond that has been active for close to 58 years based on a payment not received that was issued and sent through the Federal Mailing System. 40 days before the coverage ended.

The facts are: The coverage was from 12/16 – 12/17 (noted on invoice). I received an invoice October and November. I issued the payment to Orkin using Orkin's envelope and method of transit (USPS) - November 20, 2016. I mailed the invoice stub and check ** November 20, 2016. Orkin did not receive the payment. I was never notified or warned that this policy was being cancelled - They had my active cell #. I reached out to Orkin by phone (1-11-2017) when I noticed that the check hadn’t cleared my bank. Orkin then informed me that I no longer had an account (due to non-payment). This clearly is not right for Orkin to relinquish this policy taking the said events into account.

The branch Manager Phil ** clarified to me that there is a 30 day grace period. In actuality this coverage ended January 1, 2017. Thirty days from that point is January 30, 2017. I have asked them to reinstate this account seeing and understanding these events. I asked that he would operate with the high integrity he claims to possess.

So I wrote the Amarillo office and they told me I had signed a form giving them authorization to come every month, even when I was not home.

I told them I hadn't given such authorization. They then sent me a form that I had initialled over two years before. I had initialled it, but it was for a specific situation and nothing that I ever intended to be in effect eternally. Now I am getting overdue notices. I have written them, have written the Better Business Bureau in Amarillo, with no response except overdue notices from a lady named Janice. I pay my bills, but I don't feel that this bill was ever justified. I told him not to come. The technician said he understood but that he had no choice since his manager was insisting that he come. I don't ever want to hear the name Orkin again. I've told all the people at the Senior Center and at my church to stay away from Orkin. This is very upsetting to me. Can you possibly help me? I don't know where else to turn.

Before contract ORKIN guarantee to eliminate the mice from house and I paid more $550. They spent more than 6 months and could not find from where the mice come. They are still coming from outside. In my opinion this company is literally incapable of controlling the rodents and have no idea how to stop them. They just take money every month and ultimate result is zero. Their service is poor. If you are looking to control the rodents or mice better look any other company. They just look for your money. They have no expert and no idea. So do not--do not hire this company at all.

Orkin automatically schedules quarterly service calls. This past October, the Saturday appointment they scheduled for me was not convenient, so I called and left a message to reschedule. I never got a call back, and the technician showed up anyway. He called to ask why no one was home. I rescheduled with him then for a different Saturday. The day of the rescheduled appointment he never showed up or called, and no one answered at the office or returned my messages. The following business day, I called the office reschedule for a diff entry Saturday. The day of that appointment the SAME EXACT THING happened! When I called the following Monday, they told me our usual tech no longer works for them, as if that somehow explains why they couldn't keep the appointment they made. They offered to send a different tech on a weeknight in an attempt to make up for their blunders.

I explained that we were told in the past that since we work until five we can only have a Saturday appointment, but the office scheduler assured me she was making a note for the tech to come after 5:45 when we would be home. Well, he showed up at four, and called me at work to say he won't come back after five because by then he is "home cooking dinner." When I called the office, they basically accused me of lying about the appointment time since they "would never schedule like that." I know what time I get out of work every day. Why would I make an appointment that I couldn't keep? Especially after waiting for over a month for them to show up! They offered to give us our next visit free, but I felt that was just way too risky. I am absolutely shocked at the lack of professionalism and reliability at this Orkin location.

My husband called Orkin for a 1 time pest treatment. He was talked into signing a 1 year contract for pest control AND complete termite treatment for $938, and the full amount was charged on my Visa card. He was not well when talked into those services and passed away 28 days later. I was shocked when I got the credit card bill. I called Orkin, and asked what the charges were for. When she told me about the termite contract, I told her that we had the house treated for termites 5 years earlier. All she would say was "we got his signature." The manager was unwilling to make any adjustment on the bill and just kept saying "he signed the contract." I feel like Orkin took advantage and I will never do business with them again. I had a bed bug problem for the first time in my home of 20 years so when I googled for exterminators, Orkin was top of the list so I called them. They confirmed an appointment for the next day but couldn't give me a time so I waited all day. Around 4pm I called only to be told I wasn't on the schedule for that day. Nobody told me they'd be here today. I was desperate enough to let them reschedule and they did make it the next time. Not only did they not do a good job in the basement but they completely missed my bedroom. I had no bug problems anymore in those other rooms but still a bad invasion in my bedroom but I stuck it out til the 4th week. I texted the guy who told me I may text him if I need them before they came back. He never did reply to me.

Next day I called the office and we set up an appointment for the next morning anytime before I had to leave at 12:30. I set my alarm clock for 7:00, got all ready in case they came at 8:00. Waited all morning til 11:00 when I called to see what's going on. Once again, I was told I wasn't on the schedule that day, nobody told me they were coming over, oh no, they're coming over Friday! At this point I'm about to boil over and asked if she was calling me a liar?

My second time with them both no show with same excuses so I told her this business practice is just completely unacceptable and take my contract and tear it up as I'm going to go with another exterminator. When I went to hunt for one, I couldn't believe what popped out at me on Google; 395 complaints against Orkin! The very first review had exactly the same complaint as mine and more too. Stay away from Orkin! When I told her to tear up my contract, she just said okay; could it possibly be they're very used to that now? Shame on them!

Told Orkin guy I had something digging under my porch and he said they dont do that service. Orkin said they were done and asked for signature which we signed not thinking had walk around, make sure the work was completed. Well big mistake. Walked around hour later to see I had cobwebs all over my back porch still and I have wasps fly all over my front porch because there nest in steps.

Well I never received a bill so I assumed they weren't charging me because nothing wasn't completed, so I tried take care of the nest myself... and a month and week later I received a bill for that day when nothing was done. And orkin says because signed orkin paperwork that I have pay for that service. I was like "well if you come out and take care problem I will pay for bill", but because it was over month ago they won't come out without charging me again. And then there like I had service set up in November which I clearly told them when called last time I do not want service again from them. Orkin does not care if their customers are happy at all, and it's because if there issue they send service guy back on their own time. I was told this by one of service guy. They don't pay them, so why would things get don't correctly. Do not trust this company, is not worth all money they charge.

I signed a contract and at this time I was led to believe by the salesman that the service was good until Oct 2016. I paid the fee of $475.00 and we set up a time for a technician to come out. Unfortunately, this is when we found out how unreliable and unprofessional this company was. The tech that treated our house when we originally signed up left the company. After that a different technician would come out to spray without warning or a schedule and then I would be billed.

Most of the winter months I would come home from work and see a sticker on my door that said my billable service was completed that day and that since I was not home they treated the outside. In January when there are no bugs outside. Each time I would call the office and complain, but this situation persisted, until my year long contract was up. When I spoke with the representative on the phone, she quoted me one price of $77 and was very confident in the services that Orkin could provide. I specifically asked if this was the price I would be charged for the initial inspection and services. She stated "there would be no additional charge". Upon arrival, Alfred **, whose attitude and initial demeanor was very unpleasant, looked around the home in less than 5 minutes and determined that because of what he "perceived" to be an infestation the prices of the services would be an additional $50, bringing the total to $127.

I explained to him what the representative quoted me, and I was not informed that there could be a potential increase in costs upon inspection. He continued to argue with me and tell me that the representatives follow a script and that the customer service agent did in fact tell me that there would be an additional costs based upon inspection. He was adamant that this was the case. I was not told by Wanda the customer service rep that there would be an additional increase in costs; in fact she quoted me the discounted rate of $77. It would not make sense to give me a discounted price and then subsequently be charged the same amount ($50) of the discount upon inspection.

Mr. ** was rude, practically accused me of being dishonest for disagreeing with him that the representative told me there could be an increase in cost upon inspection. He came into my home with an attitude from the start and without conducting a thorough inspection, surmised we had an infestation... which turned out to be inaccurate based on the inspection of another pest control company. Mr. ** did not represent your company well, and certainly left a bad impression with me. I initially selected Orkin because of the reviews, the commercial and the fact that your company has been around for some time. But based on this experience, I would not recommend Orkin because of the bad customer service, misrepresentation of prices and not honoring the prices initially quoted. Sounds like a racket to me.

He came back to exterminate, we came home and found a bed bug crawling across the mattress! I called Orkin, they were very apologetic, however, it's a commercial account so our manager has to make the call. She just happened to be off for 3 days!

When we were finally able to have management get Orkin back to our home, he came in and again very rude and said, "What is going on?" I said, "We still have bed bugs." He looks around again, says "It looks good," he'll be back in 2 weeks! "Really, I've caught at least one every day since you exterminated and I know what I'm looking at!" He told me to catch what I see with scotch tape, bag it, write exactly where I found it and he'll be back! They are crawling on the floors, walls, ceiling! I called their office and spoke with Rhonda who said it was her fault that she did it by mistake and did some sort of adjustment right after.

Well, it is the following week and I am still being charged overdraft fees at my bank. The bank will not do anything about it and Orkin manager, Sean, in San Antonio TX said there was nothing he could do. How long should it take to refund money you take in error? Their attitude was that they could not care less about me or my patronage. Well, they will definitely not have my patronage any longer. I had not received a call from them telling me of their error. If I had not looked at my bank account online I would never have known about it.

This makes me so afraid about my money. I will never give my account information out again and if anyone does not like it then they do not get my business. Be afraid if you are using Orkin and they have your bank account information. Their attitude is just so terrible. He said when this gets settled they would give me credit for my overdraft fees--but it would be credited to my account with Orkin, not to my bank account. Well that is not helpful because I do not plan to use Orkin again because of this horrible experience. It would not matter nearly so much if I had money. I've only had four sprays from them and I still have the bugs. He lied to me about getting rid of them. I've lost everything my son's ever made or gave me. I had to get rid of everything in my house and now he told this new guy I have to pay to get a spray.

I don't have the money or the help to get this done. I feel like everything he said was a lie as it was at the beginning. He said some of my cancer meds made me see things that weren't there. I lost it on him. My meds are my business, not his. I don't know what to do because of him wanting to charge me again. There's so much more that has happened because of him. I can't get bit by those bugs. They will kill me. I've been in the hospital already two times because of this and I don't know what or who to call to get something done.

Please if anyone can help me I need to know what can I do, who can I call. I'm truly lost and very scared, everything he said was a lie. I'm very clean and having this I can't even have my grandkids over. No one. I don't want anyone else to go through what I have had to. The commercials they show on tv tells you "if you see a bug, we'll come back." No not here in Michigan, never. I've called and text but no one comes. Truly heartbroken.

Okay, so my wife and I have had an ant problem for 2 months now. We have tried various remedies to get rid of them, and none to date have worked.

I saw the add for Orkin and thought we would give them a try. I called and was told by a pleasant young lady that I could sign up for one year of Orkin control for over $300 per year for one pest or over $500 per year for multiple pest. I said I wasn't interested in a year contract and just wanted someone to come out for just one time to look for a nest and over a solution. I was told an appointment for a service person to come out for an inspection was set up. So today that service person came out. This service man first off came in to the house and never took off his shoes (could be company policy) He then looked around the house while I explained what was going on.

He used a flashlight to look into some exposed joist in our laundry room, but beyond that did not make any effort into looking anywhere else in the house for signs of where the ants may be coming from (he is the professional supposedly so I thought he would take a more thorough look.) Based on what I told him he said it sounded like they were carpenter ants. We then went outside at which time he explained that the carpenter ant nest could be up to 300 feet away from our house, and that finding the actual nest was uncommon. (I looked online and he is not completely wrong, nests can be found a fair distance from the house.) I asked what my options were and he suggested one of the 2 - one year plans that I mentioned above. He looked around the yard, but not once do he actually examine the exterior of my house to see if he could determine where the ants were getting in.

The service man said the ants don't eat the wood but burrow in it to live (again this is true as I looked it up.) He looked at a couple rotting stumps but never examined them closely to see if there was any ant nest in them. I mentioned I had been using ant baits I bought from Canadian tire and that some of the ants we were finding in our house were dead. The guy said that the ant bait could be working and suggested I wait before making a decision on a year contract with them (the first and only helpful piece of advise I got.) I then saw a few ants on our front sidewalk and asked him what they were. He said they were pavement ants, and were common. I then showed him a carcass of an ant that I took from inside my house. He said "ya, that's a carpenter ant" when am no genius, but when I compared the pavement ant and "carpenter ant' they looked the same to me. I then asked if he could spray today.

He said no he was far to busy and wouldn't be able to return until June 1st. (Really, how long does it take to spray around the exterior of the residence?) He then went on to say Orkin was having this bug display event in London and they were looking for volunteers to man the booth, to which he added he was not going to do that either. This guy was unprofessional in appearance (I can understand a dirty shirt, it's a dirty job; however he looked unkempt) and his attitude was poor. He offered not assistance other than to try and get me to sign up for a year plan (I know that's what they do.)

Needless to say I will not pay over $300 dollars for them to spray. Oh, ya, this little visit which took 15 minutes cost me over $80.00 for nothing other than "ya, you got ants." Really helpful. My suggestion to anyone looking at pest control is stay away from Orkin and try and find a locally owned pest control business, or look online and get advise for a do-it-yourself solution which I did.

Orkin - these are either total incompetents or crooks. I cannot begin to explain how seething with anger I am at this service run by crooks and liars. My elderly mom's very expensive facility is immaculately clean. I don't know how she got bedbugs. Orkin came and said the problem was contained after they did one treatment. They made it seem so easy. Within hours after they left my mother was bitten eight times, even worse than before they did their treatment. The Orkin had assured me the problem was easy and taken care of.

He is given the company line and delivers it so smoothly and is so reassuring you want to believe it but he's a company robot who doesn't care and doesn't know his job. I don't know how these guys sleep at night. My mother is over 90. If they can't solve the problem at least they shouldn't lie that they can. They literally made the problem worse. Don't use them!

Last week I was told I had a huge bedbug infestation in my apartment. The evidence was from a situation I was in 4 years ago. This Representative was very hateful and argumentative with me. On Tuesday he came to see if things were ready for treatment. After inspecting the bedroom and living room he stated, "You don't need to do anything to the kitchen or bathroom." As he walked toward the door, he spotted an antique table near the bathroom door.

With a hateful tone he spat out, "THAT has to be emptied for treatment." I ask him to lift the tabletop and explain what I had to do to be ready. When he lifted the top and found the floor staring at him, he knew he was in trouble. Instead of placing the top back, he dropped it from about his armpit height. That table is about 200 years old and irreplaceable. His actions have sunk my opinion of Orkin to about 60 feet below the level of whale dung at the bottom of the ocean. It will take an awful lot for me to ever have any respect for the company ever again. I have been in contact with an attorney and will continue to consult him as to recourse.

We had a yearly contract with Orkin to inspect and treat our home for carpenter ants since 2014. In June 2015, we reported seeing carpenter ants on our front porch. An Orkin tech came to our home and reported no ant activity and treated the perimeter of our home with pesticide. He continued to report no ant activity and treat the perimeter of our home with pesticide throughout 2015. Each time, we were charged $77.00, with a total cost of $385.00. On April 13 of this year, the Orkin tech again inspected our home and once again reported no activity for carpenter ants.

Several days later, we determined that the two front posts of our front stairs railings were completely destroyed by carpenter ants. We contacted Orkin on April 25, 2016 to request service, and were told that our Orkin Tech would contact us, which he never did. Instead, we arranged for another exterminator service to take care of our carpenter ant problem, which cost $300.00. The repair of the posts, which were hand made, will cost $1000. Do not use Orkin!!! They will take your MONEY AND DO NOTHING TO PROTECT YOUR HOME!!! IF I COULD, I WOULD GIVE THEM NEGATIVE 1000 STARS!!!

Every month I would have same treatments done same apartments as well so when I looked into the ant problem and found out what kind of ant we had, I asked Orkin tech as did he know what kind of ant we had and he had no clue. "So you are doing treatments but yet not sure for what?" When I told him that I had researched and told him that we had Pharaoh ants and that he been giving them wrong baits/which means when you do that this colony will split and spread like wildfire throughout your building. And that he been doing that for at least 3 years at my property So go figure how big of a problem this was.

After talking to his Manager he did not want to acknowledge that this was their problem and that we would have to pay for new service which was around 20k to get rid of the problem which they created in first place to begin with. That is what your pest control is suppose to do right? Fix your problems not spread the problem and then want to charge for it. When I told him that we would not pay for this service do to them making it this bad and that they need to fix this.

He then told me that they do not treat for Pharaoh ants and that is not part of the contract. Hehe right. But yet their commercial says IF YOU got any pest problems we handle that. And in the contracts it had ants for it. I guess when you sign that contract you better ask them will you spread the problem and then have me pay for that too and if that is in your contract. Spread the problem The more treatments we do the better and more money we get. And if I could I would not even give them 1 star. I would give them negative 10 stars.

I had a real carpenter ant problem needing exterminating right away. I called Orkin. They made appt for me on Sat at 9:00. Great, accept, so I didn't call around any other exterminator figuring I was taken care of. Then I needed to change my appt for Fri. I am a single business owner, home owner, work every day. I called four times to get a response to my inquired appt change. They could not get through to the local Orkin people who supposedly I had an appt with on Sat. Never got a answer.

Orkin central just said, "we sent them a message, they are suppose to respond," yadda yadda. On fourth call I threatened to find another exterminator if I didn't hear back. The local Orkin exterminator finally called me back. He was very apologetic then informed me, to my horror, he had no such appt on Sat. I had no appt set up. Wow. He stated the local branch only comes out, from the nearest city, on Thurs.

If I would have been given proper knowledge, I could have set it up that day which was the day he returned my message, which was for days after I called and made appt. So I thus had to call around to get another exterminator and all were very busy. I couldn't get someone out 'til the following Monday while my roof is being destroyed by termites or carpenter ants. If I hadn't have been insistent trying to rearrange my appt, I thought I had, I would never had known I didn't have an appt. Would have sat waiting for two hours. After running my day, I wouldn't have been able to get another exterminator out for another week.

I am so upset with them. I'm glad I didn't pay upfront for a non-existing appt I had. If that's the customer service you get from a large co. who doesn't give their employees the right info, the right training or any follow up, I'd never want to deal with them. Call your local service reps who don't have callers or customer care people overseas trying to set up appt for you. My recommendation, don't do Orkin.

They got rid of the larger ant problem, and although I still have some ants, I live in Florida so it's a never-ending battle. My issue is with their scheduling. I have told them I work 9-5 M-F so I need a tech to come Saturday so the interior can also be sprayed. I get random calls on a Wednesday saying they're at my house and since I'm not home they just sprayed the outside. The techs do not call beforehand to say they're coming the next day.

When I called back to have follow-up service on a Saturday, the customer service acts as though it's my fault for not being home, although nobody ever calls to confirm a time before they show up. I then scheduled a time for 10-12 on a Saturday, and the tech never came. I called his number, left a message, heard nothing back. I've been trying for three weeks to get someone to show up to spray the interior of my house. I wouldn't recommend this company unless you have nothing to do but sit around all day waiting for them. I called, spoke with a rep, like what I heard and signed a contract. Then the problems began. Our initial Orkin tech had been ok at first. His first time here we went over where we would see them and about how many. After he checked the house and treated, he stated that it should be taken care of in a short time and we shouldnt see any. Then he would come out and say he didnt see anything in certain areas so he didnt treat that area.

One time I went right to that area cause I KNEW he was incorrect, yep there were bugs. THEN the next time he was talking to my husband asking for a key to our house, so he could come and go when he wanted and wouldnt have to make an appointment. After my husband CONTINUALLY told him NO. The Orkin techs response was, "I have keys to houses nicer than this one!" That resulted in a call to the office in New Bern, NC. Spoke with the quote unquote manager, told him of the problems we were having and his last statement. The manager had apologized said he would give us a new tech, (which we have and we still have, he is an excellent guy) and we would have free service until the bug problem is resolved to our satisfaction.

After we started the "free service". We continued to receive bills. I would call and remind them what the manager said and was told it would be corrected. For a couple of months, the bills did stop. Then they started again... So I finally called AGAIN, told the lady I spoke with regarding the situation, told her I was willing to pay, but I was pretty upset about this happening again. She advised me NOT to pay, she will give it to the Manager and have him call me. Never received a call, but two weeks later I received a letter from a collection agency AND TWO YEARS LATER, WE STILL HAVE A PROBLEM. As a side note, I wanted to call the Home Office, the only numbers that would ever come up on the computer is the office I deal with. So I called an out of State office and was told, very nastily, that "we do NOT give out the corporate number"...

Contrary to what their advertising leads you to believe, Orkin doesn't actually provide home "protection" from termites and termite damage. Based on my experience, they only come in and kill new termite infestations after they have done their damage. I purchased a home 4 years ago. Alabama requires a "wood infestation report" as part of the process of the sale of residential real estate. I contacted Orkin to conduct that inspection and then immediately put the home under contract with them after they declared it to be termite free. In my mind my home was now "safe" from termite damage.

Last week I was shocked when a tile in the master bath surround literally fell off into the tub. When I investigated the cause, I discovered significant termite damage in the wall behind the tub enclosure. I called Orkin and (after completely blowing off the first appointment) they came out and "treated" the area to make sure that the termites don't return. There is a "bait station" located within about a foot of where the damage begins and I asked the technician to pull it and look at it... The bait was over half gone... Proof that there is an active termite colony present.

Despite this evidence, when I contacted the local office manager about what to do about getting the damage repaired, he informed me that "my contract didn't cover any repairs." Needless to say, I wasn't happy and I continued to press him for information. His reply was that the contract that I "transferred" over from the previous owner didn't cover damage. That is a lie because this was not a "transfer" from the previous owner. There were no previously installed bait stations and I am the one who ordered the WIR subsequently requested the contract to continue to supposedly "protect" my home. I am now faced with several thousand dollars of repairs due to this termite invasion of my home.

As it stands right now, Orkin has indicated that they will not pay for any of the termite damage that obviously occurred while under their "protection" contract. In other words, there is no protection to the homeowner under their contract. Do not be fooled by Orkin's stated claim to be "...leaders in the industry, specializing in protection against common pests, including termites..." The only thing that is truly protected is the Orkin profit line.

Misrepresentation and overall bad service. I can no longer recommend any Orkin service. I am in the process of writing up the details.

I heard Orkin used safe traps and bug killers that would not harm your pets. I called them and asked if it safe for birds. "Yes". Ray from Orkin came over and looked to see what he would need. He told me that him and his wife had 20 birds and the traps will not harm my birds. I believed he would never hurt a bird.
This guy reassured me again my birds will be safe. He said they will spray around the house too. I was desperately looking for someone to kill the roaches.

The man that came to do my home was 20 years old. He came an hour early and when I told him I had made a point to have an appointment at 1:00 he just started spraying outside. I asked him again about my birds' safety, he said they will be fine.

Before he left he put something around my kitchen cabinet tops and around the window seal. I thought it was a jell. After he left I thought I was looking at dead ants on the counters. I figured they died from what he put around the cabinets. When I put on my reading glasses I could see that he put glandular stuff everywhere. There was nothing dead. He put a pile all around my sink where my dishes dried. I put a small towel over it. He put a pile along the counter top and this was about 2 feet from my bird cage. I put a towel over that thinking it would not blow into her cage. My bird died 3 days ago. A week after Orkin came out and sprayed and put powder on my counter top. I never saw what I thought a trap would look like. I believed Orkin. I am shocked, upset and sad. I still have roaches in my house and ants outside,

I still have my girl bird cage where it was. There is a real void without her. I have another bird a conjure that had been with her all his life. His bird cage was behind hers away from the counter tops. She chirped more than I realized, now it's totally quiet. My conjurer has looked for her, I thought it would be best for him if I leave her cage beside his for a few days. I don't know how to take care of this bird now. He had company whenever I was not home and all day. I am totally at a loss. I can't leave him alone for very long. I never planned on getting another bird. I don't want to go get another bird. I could leave my two birds at home when I went out of town. They kept each other company and they were safe. I never had to worry. I don't want to bring him with me when I go out of town, that would be so bad for him.

I am still living with roaches, and my bird is dead. I believed Orkin had something safe for birds? How can this happen? I thought maybe the roach spray needed some time to work. After nothing was dead. I was going to give another day and call Orkin back and ask what was wrong. Now my bird is dead. I also paid for the service. Can anything be done?

My name is Bobby **, and I am sending these comments on behalf of my deceased mother. For years, she had used Orkin's service, and was very pleased with their service. Starting about April/May of this year, she started getting weak and sickly, and entered the hospital. From then until her death on July 29th, she was either in the hospital or a senior care facility. On October 21st, I received, in the mail, a letter from a collection's agent about her account being delinquent. Being the executor of her estate and having power of attorney, I called the Odessa office to inquire when this service took place, and was told June 29, 2015.

Well, first of all, she was in the senior care facility at that time, so there was no way Orkin could have called her to set up a time for the inspection. She always had the inside and outside of the house sprayed, since she had a phobia about mice being in her house. The outside gates are locked, her being an elderly lady living alone. We did have a renter in the house at that time, but she was at work and did not have the authority to make such an appointment. If Orkin took upon themselves to go to her house and attempt to spray around the outside, that's on Orkin, not my mother.

Explained I worked and would NOT be home any earlier than 4:30 pm. He accommodated my schedule. Driving home to meet the inspector, 1 minute away from my residence at 4:31 pm, I received a cell phone call from the inspector asking me if I was home. I explained, "I am ONE minute away from my residence". The Inspector stated my appointment time was between 4:30 pm - 5:00 pm. I replied, "it's 4:31 pm! I'm now 30 seconds away (on my residential street). He stated, "The appointment was at 4:30 pm. You're late!" He discontinued the phone call. I pulled into my driveway at 4:32 pm - I got out of my vehicle to a very angry person (inspector) where I was met at the front of my house.

I said very clearly. "Please leave my residence as I am NOT interested in your services anymore due to your conduct on the phone call you made to me. Inspector replied: "Seriously? You're upset about that and do not want me to inspect your home?" I replied, "NO! Please leave". He stormed away. I immediately call the company and fortunately got to speak with the same person whom made my appointment. I explained the situation and for him to bring this matter to higher management. I told him, you had the sale on the phone but when you have terrible customer service l, in this case, horrible customer inspectors, you lose business and that they just lost mine. Horrible, horrible inspector. I was very willing to have this company do the work that needed to be done after the inspection. Now, I will never use Orkin nor will I ever refer them to anyone. I decided to restart my service when the tech came out by the way whom was very pleasant and I were talking, I informed him that I had service with them at my previous home. He stated since it was less than 60 days I should not have to pay a start up fee, well come to find out that was wrong. I did agree to have the service restarted, however I could not understand why I could not just pay the monthly amount since I was not a new customer. When Maral from the Orlando Branch called me to pay for the service I asked why was I paying an initial start up fee. She stated because I called the national number in Georgia, that is why if I had called them they could have did something for me, that did not make any sense to me so I became very upset because I was receiving BS excuses.

I asked for the Corporate number, she refused to give it to me and told me that they were going to tell me to call that Branch anyway, after repeated times of asking for the number she hung the phone up. Every time I kept on calling they continued to hang up until Janice answered the phone. I asked her for the Corporate number. She refused to give it to me and stated that Maral was going to give me $50.00 off of my service. However since I was cursing and going off they were not given me anything and I need to give them a credit card that works to pay my bill. This is when you know that there is some BS with this company when they won't give you the Corporate number and they are given you $50.00 off. I have never been treated in this way by this company in previous states. However this do not surprise me. The customer service here in Orlando SUCK. He said they had never sprayed my house for bees. I said yes they had. He said I was wrong... I asked that he find my contract and show me where bees were excluded, because I knew there was not one. I said I would hate to change service but would if they were not going to assist me. I did not receive a follow up call until today when I canceled my service. Apparently we brought back some bed bugs from a Best Western Hotel in Sacramento region and contacted ORKIN after they had cleaned the house of the people in Gilroy, CA we stayed with at that same hotel. They seemed quite expensive, but we were desperate and did not get a second quote. $3,150.00 to heat the whole house to 140 degrees after we had to remove anything that would have melted, food, candles, paintings etc. We also had to remove the electricity plate covers on all switches, plugs. And pull all wooden furniture away from the walls. The house was still too hot 10 hours later. We were NOT advised to pull apart our antique 1836 double bed, that we are now told to do even though it was sprayed after the heating of the house, there was insufficient treatment to get to the core of the wooden bed and we appear to have suffered hibernation or recurrence of these bed bugs after several months in action.

After seeing fresh infestation coming from the SAME bed frame over the past few weeks, they want to re-charge us the FULL amount again, to re-heat the whole house even though the inspection confirmed they did not complete the correct treatment of our antique bed last year. Since they did not complete their work last time and the same source of bed bugs has re-appeared, we believe they should redo their sloppy work at their own expense, but they would not budge from their revised estimate of $2,700. At the same time I have been discharged from Dominican Hospital the weekend 10th July, 2015, after Heart Bypass Surgery and cannot return to my own home because of the infestation not been taken care of BEFORE my operation. My wife called their former contact person, and after NO responses for a week, we were told she was no longer employed by Orkin.

We called their main number and they did a thorough job this time, but would not shift much on the quoted price, except for a $450.00 reduction, so we actually paid $5,850.00 to complete the heating of the house TWICE for the same issue. The bugs returned because they did NOT complete their work the first time as they hibernated inside the wood of our bed. After the SECOND HEATING of our house, we saw evidence of the baseboards covered in residue and had to replace all of them with eight, new wooden boards. We replaced our mattresses after they heated the house the first time & bought bug-proof covers again after the second treatment. We took steps to clean the house ourselves. They did come back & REDO the entire house in July, 2015, but we saw no evidence of any bugs outside of our bed, and they said we must pull the bed apart ourselves, which was a simple job.

They said they could not do it on any antique furniture last time in 2014, but never advised us to pull it apart when they came to heat the house & spray afterwards. We believe they did not complete their job the first time and we were entitled to their return to complete the work that they failed to do the first time in 2014. They also would not treat the bed topper that had the zipper undone by only 1" and they saw bugs inside, and they told us to toss it and buy another that cost us $160 to replace. It was not as good as the original one. We feel obliged to complain about being charged TWICE for the same job that was not completed properly the first time.

We have explained our position clearly, and they did a most thorough treatment the SECOND TIME, so we are pleased with ORKIN'S work and follow-up inspections. We want a refund of the second charge for obvious reasons. I have been unable to work since my bypass operation on 6th July, 2015 and our only income is a paltry Social Security that Linda only received half of my payments, after I could apply, because although she was born in America, she could not apply in her own right and is ineligible for a widow's pension from her first husband.

I hired Orkin to eliminate a bad rat infestation in my new home. After two months I was told it would take several more months to remove the rats. They told me they had set 16 traps. They also said that my attic was rat-free and that no traps would be set in it. They were in turn delaying the insulation company from replacing all crawl space insulation because of the rat damage. After over 2 months I cancelled my service with Orkin because they just were not getting the job done and I hired another much more reputable pest company. When the new pest company came in and thoroughly inspected everything including attic, they found major holes like what they called "rat freeways" that Orkin had totally ignored. The new company had to dig down at least 10 more inches and fill each hole with five - 50 lb bags of concrete.

They found Orkin had only set 3 traps and none in the attic and of those traps not all of them were set with bait. There was visible evidence that the rats were getting into the attic but again Orkin did not inspect nor set traps in the attic. When I cancelled I asked for a refund of over $270 as Orkin had not removed the rats and was causing me mental distress as time was coming for winter and the rats would settle in. They refused to refund stating that the crews had been out twice weekly. They had not - they came once in June, skipped July, twice in August and one of those times the guy didn't have the tools to get into the crawl space to do the inspection. The company I have since hired have removed all rats in a span of two weeks. So what exactly did Orkin do? NOTHING as far as I am concerned and I still want my money back.

I told her (Orkin Rep) that I no longer needed in home pest control. However, she spoke to me about my lawn. I would be willing to try lawn pest control. So she signed me up at the end of July 2015 with my credit card information and was to be set up like I had before with automatic payments from my Chase credit card. So a week later Orkin Lawn showed up and sprayed my lawn. He left me with an invoice marked PAID.

On 09/01/2015 (1 month later) I had a knock on my door. When I went to answer the door, no one was there but I heard a truck start up and then the Orkin truck drove by. I immediately called Orkin to have him return. She (Orkin Rep) said that she will call him (Driver) right away. No one ever came back to spray the lawn and it is 09/22/2015. No one called me either. I figured well, he must have come by my home by mistake thinking I was on his route because my next scheduled spray was 30 more days out. Today 09/23/2015 I received a collection notice from a collection agency on behalf of Orkin for $125.00. I have never had anything go to collections. I pay my bills. I immediately called and asked for a mgr. The lady on the phone said “Why don't I try and help you?” Why I never get to speak with a mgr., I have no idea.

I had explained from the beginning and she said that they had several attempts to call me. I only have one phone number and I have had it for the past 15 years. No one has tried to contact me! And on 09/01/2015 when I called Orkin to have the driver come back, why didn't they tell me something was wrong? Or better yet when they contacted the driver, why didn’t they call me to tell me why he stopped by? When I called today to resolve my complaint, the Phone Rep blamed it on the Orkin Rep who signed me up for the service saying that she didn’t get the expiration date for the Chase credit card. I was floored! I stood right there when the Orkin Rep wrote it down and she had it all. All I did was agree to have service and provided payment. I do not understand why someone didn't tell me something was wrong when I called them on 09/01/2015.

Their bookkeeping has to be so messed up to not understand they have wronged a client. The manager is not even doing his job by calling me back to resolve an issue which is clearly Orkin’s fault. I am having to pay the collection fees for nothing! By the way, it is interesting that the collection company is owned by Orkin too (AKA Rollins Service Bureau, a division of Rollins Inc. AKA Orkin)! That is leaving the door open to a major lawsuit the way they charge clients for service not provided and then turn around 30 days later to charge collections fees. The rep actually said "If it was our wrong doing we apologize.” "If" - I just told you what happened and you don't think you have committed any wrongdoing?? When she said "If" is when I admit to losing my temper but never used profanity. There has been no resolve other than discontinuing my service and paying the collection so that it doesn't ruin my credit.

Started calling the local branch on Aug 17th, we have rats in our garage and around chicken coop. The gal promised me a tech would call to set up. No call. Called almost daily for a week, always the same story, and sometimes they didn't answer the phone, so left messages. Sometimes I was trunked over to their corporate office which I thought great, they will light a fire under their arses. Not so. When my 5-year-old grandson got bit, that was the last straw, went right to corporate. They assured me over and over they would be out, but no calls, no show. Finally I found a local company, and the guy was out within 24 hours, set traps and baits and would be by either every day or every other. I BELIEVE HIM!

I called Orkin and gave corporate a good tongue lashing, and they wanted to have a 3-way call with the branch manager. "No thanks" I said, "this is YOUR problem." And from reading all the complaints online, I should have read them first, but as Orkin is a national brand, figured they were dependable?? Shoot, sometimes it pays to stay local, screw these big nationals who spend tens of thousands on ads and then don't keep any promises. I am going to write to Orkin corporate as well and advise all of you to do the same. Do you think they read these boards, obviously not!!! Power in numbers. Maybe if we all gang up on corporate, they will be forced to stop their 2-hour martini lunches and actually do something. This company is a joke, and they need to be forced to either do their jobs or close up shop for good. Would give our local guys a lot more business too!!!

Well, the fine print on the paperwork said that I needed to pay off before the first payment became due. I ended up paying off within 90 days and paying $135 in interest. The Orkin termite inspector told us that we had mice droppings in our crawl space that required extermination. We had never seen any signs of mice in the 10+ years that we have lived in our house. But because we do not go into the crawl space and he was an Orkin employee, we believed him. He scheduled a treatment by the Orkin pest control exterminator for three days later. For those three days we were FREAKED OUT by the thought that we had mice in our house.

The exterminator arrived on time, sprayed the interior and exterior with Cy-Kick for bugs and inspected the crawl space. He found no evidence of mice and said that the termite inspector mistook really old roach droppings for mice droppings. He explained that mice droppings are considerably larger than roach droppings. The roach droppings were dark so they must be old. Therefore, he did not have to lay mouse glue traps. We were totally misled into purchasing the pest control service by the Orkin Termite Inspector.

I am a renter for three years at my current apartment. We have had the same Orkin person the entire time. I have two cats. The past year or so I began to noticed my cats had an issue with vomiting often enough that I noticed a pattern. I took them to the Vet to make sure they were not sick. The Vet and I discussed the possible causes. (Stress, type of food, etc.) I changed their diet and monitored them for stress related issues. Things got better for a few months. After the Orkin extermination they were vomiting again. I really did not relate it to Orkin being the cause until I became ill myself. At that time I notified the landlord with my concerns. I simply asked if there was an alternative to spraying liquid toxins all over the house and that I was will to help pay for it.

The extermination day came and I guess the landlord spoke with the Orkin guy regarding my concerns. They knocked on the door, I answered it and the pest(ty) guy replied "So what is your problem now?" On other occasions I felt he was rude, condescending, and appeared to always have a chip on his shoulder. Needless to say the conversation escalated negatively from there. He stated "It's impossible that what I'm using is making you sick, I can show you the MSDS sheet to prove the amount of poison I'm using is too low for that to happen. I can show you the MSDS sheet." He repeated this so many times that I had to stop him and demand he stop talking to me because the conversation is getting heated. He then tells me the conversation isn't heated. Not only is he telling me I'm wrong, now he's telling me how I feel. I can go on and on, but I won't.

I ended it by telling him "The only thing you need to say to me is the name of the pesticide you're using." He gave me some name I couldn't understand so I asked him to spell it. Either he doesn't know how to spell what he's using or he just made up something, because I couldn't find it anywhere on the world wide web. I told him "I know what a MSDS is, and by the way you're saying it incorrectly, because the S in the abbreviation means sheet. So what you're actually saying is Material Safety Data Sheet Sheet."

At this point he appeared to be outraged. He yelled, "I will bring you a copy of it." That was almost three months ago and I am still waiting and it's almost time for his next visit. I don't know if he thought I was trying to get money from the company or what. His customer service leaves a lot to be desired, and I wonder if he treats everyone the same way or is it because I am middle aged single mom. In any case he had to leave without drenching my house with his liquid poison.

After having the local office manager come to our house, he crawled under the house and came back with what amounted to a sales call. We agreed that his guys would come out and redo the poly sheeting under the house to help with the moisture situation. His team showed up the next week and spent two days stripping the old poly and doing a wrap-up to the vents.

They did this at no charge to me so we're going to continue our business relations for a while. I'm writing this because I figure that if I'd take the time to ** about bad service - I ought to be man enough to tell it when they do something right.

    Original Review: June 25, 2015

I had Orkin to come out and look at our termite situation - not to rid us of them but to treat our home to keep the termites away. They advised me that I needed a moisture control system in the crawlspace. We bought this system and they installed what I thought was a dehumidifier and vents. I get an invoice from them every year to maintain two services - termite control and moisture control. The service tech that just checked our house says that there is no dehumidifier and the plastic poly sheet is covering less than half of the crawlspace. The Manager, if the local office will not talk with me, he sent a tech out who basically told me that there's nothing that he can do until the manager approves the work. I've called the local office and the regional office with no results.

I explained to my husband and the salesperson about the advice I was given. And the salesperson said that he guaranteed the termite treatment would work and that I was mislead about the treatment Orkin offered. I did not want the wood treatment but the salesperson convinced my husband that I was wrong and the best thing was the wood treatment. My husband fell for his lies and we ended up paying $1200.00 for the treatment that never worked.

Every 3 to 4 months I kept complaining about the wings and termites I kept finding, and Orkin kept coming back applying the treatment over and over and advised my husband and I that we needed to give it time to work. Orkin kept coming back many times and applying treatment and buying time. The last treatment was about 7 months ago and we continue with the same problem and a new salesperson came to my house to sell us the tent. And stated that the tent would be $1949.00 and they will give a $500 credit. But what they did was they raised the price to give the discount.

I called 3 companies for estimates and all 3 gave me a price between $980.00 and $1400. Orkin gave me $1449.00 with the discount. I feel they stole $1200.00 from us because they promised something that never worked and where's the warranty and where's the money we paid. I called Orkin back in Sept. 2014 due to a flea infestation being rescheduled twice. I should have known to move on and find another company. It's now June and I am still having issues with Orkin... I can't get them to return calls or show up when scheduled and if they do show up they are in and out so fast that there is no way they could have treated my house, as is evident in the ant infestation I now have. They claim they will come back if you see pests between visits... good luck with that, or even a call back acknowledging you.

After 20 minutes and 8 glue traps for mice and spraying the exterior of home, they billed $275. Worst is I called to complain to the headquarters and Hayward, CA office, both promised that I would talk to the manager but I have yet to receive a call. Orkin is an awful business that takes advantage of customers. Never again will I call.

My 88 year old mother called Orkin and was quoted a price of $148 to spray a very modest size home for ants. The Orkin service man arrived at the house and said the price would be $350. A total bait and switch on an elderly person. Very disgusting. I called the Orkin office to complain. They said that should never had happened, but there was nothing they could (or would) do about it. What was left unsaid is that I'm sure this happens all the time. Preying on the elderly is a revolting business practice - no doubt that had she agreed to pay the $350, they would have tried to bleed every last penny from her.

Orkin out of Hingham MA hired a complete creep by the name of **. He was fired from his previous pest control job for getting caught on home cameras going through a couple's bedroom: going through the women's underwear drawer, jewelry box, and closets. He was reported by other customers but being on camera took the cake and he was fired. So Orkin hires him. He has restraining orders on him for being a stalker and pretty much creep. Be careful who you let in your house - big companies like this don't care. My friend even called and reported him to the branch manager and he said everyone deserves second chances. Not when it's someone who is a complete creep going into family homes. It's wrong - don't hire Orkin!!

I got into some chiggers this past weekend and started noticing severe blistering of the skin. I went to the doctor even though everyone said it was chiggers & it would feel awful, but go away in time. The doctor I saw said it looked more like bedbugs to him, so I inspected my home & found no signs of those nasty little critters. The next morning, I thought I saw something on my box spring, so I called Orkin to take a look. They were helpful on the phone and were able to come out same day. Two guys came in within the time window they had given me. They inspected my home, and said they had seen it too, playing off my fears and gave me a quote of over $1000 for just my side of my duplex. I tore my house apart, cleaning and washing everything, driving myself crazy.

Luckily, I got a second opinion from ABC. The first inspector came and told me there was no evidence of bedbugs. I didn't believe her; I thought maybe she just couldn't see them. She asked the bedbug operations manager to come take a look just to double check her. He couldn't find any signs of them either. They both said my bites looked like an extreme reaction to chiggers. I almost got evicted and/or ended up shelling out $1000 that I don't have to fix a problem that didn't exist. I realize that the doctor who is uneducated in parasites made it really easy for the crooks at Orkin to prey on me. These guys should not be trusted! Always get a second opinion!

We just this recently contracted with Orkin for rodent control. We knew we had an infestation. Treatment usually includes killing the rats and building them out. Orkin was supposed to replace our crawl space vents (which needed replacing anyway), install flashing at certain points along the roof (a small infestation in attic), and close up any small openings. Except for the flashing, they followed through. The first inspector said there were two large openings in the "builders gaps." When they came to do the work, the technician responsible for that repair could not see a problem. After the tech and his supervisor (the first inspector) discussed it they said someone over the supervisor would come the next day and inspect.

The next day this person came with the same technician and looked around. They installed a thin metal strip at one point and put some kind of foam at a few small openings. They were present less than an hour. We were charged $4,000 for this, the original charge for the exclusion. The supervisor found it impossible to itemize a bill showing why it should cost that much. We have had a grandfathered-in pest control contract with Orkin since we bought the house. Every year they inspect for termites and powderpost beetles for a small annual fee. They also checked for moisture in the crawl space. There were no moisture problems all that time until recently when an inspector found condensate and beginning of mold. So Orkin replaced the insulation in the crawl pace and sprayed borate on the wood and laid a moisture barrier.

We refinanced the house a few months ago and an independent inspector agreed that there was a minor concern with moisture. So we had Orkin take care of it. Now, when the rodent project started, the inspector said the moisture was high in the crawl space. So they resprayed the wood and rehung some loose insulation (no charge). They originally installed the insulation. They also left a moisture monitor that continually reads in the 70s, which is probably right because Orkin insists the crawlspace vents remain open despite our living in a high humidity area. They have suggested that we "may need" a de-humidification system installed. For all this work we were charged $7,000. Tired of going round and round about the cost we finally paid them in full, both not to have to go on with the cost issue and to avoid the high interest rate if we did not pay within 90 days (we borrowed the money at a much lower interest rate).

We still have received no satisfactory answer about the project's cost and and are both disappointed and angry about the service. I should also mention that the rodent control (and other pests) program is now separate for which we pay a separate fee.

Recently, we had a roach scare. Had found four roaches in one week in a relatively tidy home. Certainly not a place you would expect pests to live. We panicked and after several horrifying internet searches, we bought raid and bait stations. After we found the final roach, we decided that we had had enough and couldn't risk a full blown infestation. We signed up online for a free consultation with Orkin, and were contacted promptly the next morning. After I told her we had found four roaches she told me we likely had two hundred more and should start treatment. She preyed on my fear and set us up for a yearly plan. Since we rent the home and are set to move out within the month, this seemed drastic, but I didn't question her. She was however, quite friendly, and answered my questions about the extermination procedure.

The exterminator arrived on time and was very friendly. He identified our roaches as wood roaches (an underrepresented group in forums found online) and told us there was a low chance that we were infested. These types of roaches live outside and come in during the spring season in search of food and water. They do not breed inside like some other species of cockroaches so he advised us to set up some glue traps on our own and avoid paying several hundred dollar for Orkin services we didn't really need. All in all, a positive experience and ten out of ten would recommend Orkin to a friend or loved one.

Background: I've been living in my current home for 2 years, most of that went along without seeing one roach. Unfortunately, about 5 months ago I saw one or 2 over the course of a week and flipped out. You should know before reading the rest of this review that I have an extreme roach phobia. Seeing one sends me into a near panic attack and I become a bundle of nerves for days after until I finally feel comfortable again.

Calling: My mom, who also has the same phobia, recommended Orkin after I told her I'd seen a few roaches (I later found out that all she had done with them at that point is have a phone consultation). I gave them a call to schedule an appointment and that brings us to our first RED FLAG.

Red Flag 1 ("your problem is way worse than you know"): They are alarmists. When I called and told them I'd seen a few roaches and I wanted to never wanted see one again in my home they immediately went nuclear and told me that if I'd seen a few there were hundreds and they'd have to treat not only my home but my yard to prevent them from ever coming in to my home. Music to my ears at the time but looking back it was part of them just using dump truck exterminating where they put down everything they have without knowing really what they're doing so they can charge you for every single part of the process. Once they were in my house they were convincing me that I had mice, fleas, ants, etc, which I don't and started treating for all of those things.

On their first visit they said their plan was to bait the roaches in then over time move them out so they were my neighbors' problem. Presumably so that my neighbors would get desperate and call Orkin as well. That brings me to...

Red Flag 2 (expensive): I've had exterminators in the past and they cost about $20 a month to spray for roaches inside and out of your home. Orkin costs more than twice that, $92 every other month. It would be worth it to me if I had never seen another roach. Unfortunately, the opposite is true...

The infestation: Not only did my roach problem not get solved, something they did opened the flood gates! Last night (I've been under their service for 5 months and they came 3 days ago to treat, for the last time) my husband killed 22 roaches! I have to sleep with the light on. And I almost got up from bed to go sleep in my car so I could relax. Something in that nuclear cocktail of treatments that they put down in my house and on my lawn is attracting roaches like crazy. There are more roaches in here than if I just left the door open at night. This is literally destroying my mental and physical health. I'm uncomfortable in my own home and am scared to shower, make food in my kitchen, or even sleep unless my husband is home. He's so aggravated by this that we fight constantly. He blames me because I am the one who called Orkin.

I'm glad for you that you are doing your homework and reading this review. Please, do yourself a favor and call anyone else. Orkin is a scam and should be shut down. There were so many signs, I should have cancelled sooner. For example... Red Flag 3: Each visit we had a new "technician" who was always "new to Orkin" and they say that often. Like, "I'm new to Orkin but let me call and see if I can use this new special thing in your grass". They were all dumbfounded by my increasing problem and "couldn't imagine what that they would be responsible". Either they have an incredibly high turnover or their technicians are lying about being new. Both of those options point to Orkin being a sham business.

Red Flag 4: Won't let you cancel. When it all became too much to handle I had my husband call to cancel. I'm a very non-confrontational person and being so stressed out by this whole thing didn't feel up to it. They would pass him around from person to person asking why he wanted to cancel but not actually cancelling. They knew I was the weak link and called me the next day when he was at work to ask me why we wanted to cancel. I was backed into a corner and had to lay out the issue and say, never come back, you've essentially ruined my life and I don't feel comfortable in my own home anymore.

TL:DR: If you contact a business to solve a specific problem and they start trying to fix problems that don't exist, over charge you, make your problem worse, aren't knowledgeable, and try to prevent you from firing them then it is a scam, not a reputable company.

To sum it up Orkin is kinda old school in termites and treatment. Never buy a termite contract without a repair clause, understand this, all contracts offered here has (live termite activity). If you find termite damage with no live termites, you will pay for the repairs. I'd say this to everyone (no one will take care of me, like ME) and this is nothing better than an educated consumer. About five weeks ago I had a very friendly inspector come to my home to check for bed bugs, which I knew I already had. I have a terrible allergic reaction to the bites and was desperate to get rid of these blood sucking pests. I had tried everything on the market that advertised to kill them. In a few short days they had developed an immunity to the poison and would come back worse than before. Just after Christmas I had scheduled them to come and heat my house to a 150 degree temperature for 30 hours. For this treatment I had to prepare my home and box up, sanitize, or throw away anything on the list they gave me. Day and night for ten days my family stressed over this preparation. When we come back our home was ever so cozy. It was a few days before the temperature came back to normal. This treatment worked, every bug in my home was dissolved, there wasn't a hint that we ever had bugs or spiders.

Three weeks later the biting began again, I of course was in denial that it could be bed bugs. Ten days later I caught one on my bed. They are back, one week after Orkin would come out to retreat for free. My gripe is that they do play on people's desperation and willingness to pay whatever the cost, mine was $5000 plus the motel and food for a family of eight. We have a wooden bed frame and although the first guy told us the bugs can find places to hide in the wood we were never told to take our bed apart so the treatment would reach these hiding places.

I don't have another $5000 to throw away on another what if. Short of burning my house down I have to relive this nightmare all over again. If only someone along the line would have fully disclosed this as a preparation I wouldn't be writing this review. I can't afford to find someone else and just hope Orkin does the right thing and fix it at their cost. I know word of mouth speaks volumes over repeat customers and I have ruined businesses in telling people about my experience.

My patience was up so I called the Headquarter explaining the problems. She told me she would send a memo to the local office. She said not to worry. If they did not receive payment, they would automatically cancelled the service for me anyway. Duh!!!! What a waste of time trying to deal with this company. We had Terminix as our pest control and let me tell you, they are much, much better in customer service. Robert used to be our service man. Treating us nice for all these year. Til he got promoted, he still took care of any problems we had. Awesome, Terminix in Murfreesboro Area. And after selling our house, I cancelled our service with Terminix and received our refund for an unused Termite contract within 30 days. Any pest problems, Terminix would come and solve it for us in the same date.

For those of you who try to decide which company you want for your pest control or dry zone services, just remember, if you need to terminate the service or ask for refund, ORKIN said, they don't do such things. That is how they treated me. Now I am using a local company and Terminix. I am happy with services they provide. No more ORKIN for me. Thank you.

Had hired Orkin to take care of mites/fleas. Always felt problems even after a few months of them coming in. At the end, I was out of town for quite some time, and called to indicate that I did not want the service at the appointment they wanted to set. They then called me back when I was out of town (did not get me on the phone), and said they would come by and Spray OUTSIDE of the apartment to fulfill their obligation (the "problem" was solely inside the apartment). When they billed me, I told them I said I didn't want the service when they first asked, and they came by without my approval. They then sent my bill to a collection agency (for a "service" they never delivered and I did not request). I would not recommend Orkin for anything. Complete "rip off".

I called Orkin with the impression they were the best. Wrong. I have noticed roaches. It has gotten out of hand. I looked for an exterminator as soon as I had the money available. First problem, I call the call center. We agreed on a monthly treatment plan for three months.

Well when technician showed up he informs me the plan no longer exists. And they signed me up for quarterly treatments. So I agreed to do a year contract bi monthly. Second problem, technician shows up with the I don't want to be here attitude. Even glares at me throughout his time here. Complaining about previous customers. While passively complaining about my questions about service. Terrible attitude.

Third problem, I was told by technician that bait was put out. But also that "maybe" next time he will bring bait. Did NOT spray outside of my home! Spent about a half hour in the kitchen and 15 mins on the rest of the house with a "mister" that kills bugs on contact. Fourth problem, fast forward 3 weeks. Bugs have doubled! No dead bugs other than the initial treatment the FIRST day!

NOTHING keeping more bugs from entering my home. I was told there would be more activity first few days. Not a whole ** month. I could have accomplished this with a can of raid. Pointed out bug problem in wall panels but he would not treat it. I asked if bugs would move from one room to the other. His response no. Will they come in from the outside. Again no, shouldn’t. Lies! There IS such a thing as google idiot! I made him uncomfortable, he knew he was full of it.

Fifth problem, called because was unsatisfied with service. Never received a call back. Had to call I don't know how many times to get a call back. Then was told because I have a week before my next service which was actually 11 days that they would charge me. So much for the in-between visits for free for bad service. Then proceeded to tell me, "well you said you were satisfied with our services!"

This because of call to call center while technician was sitting on my couch to confirm contract. ** bags. Made excuses for technician. When I requested on a new technician, argued with me about how inconvenient it is for them. Wtf. I don't care how inconvenient it is for you. Your crap service is inconvenient for me! Absolute waste of money! Crap customer service. Crap work. Crap technicians. Terrible, terrible, terrible. Rip off!! You can't make a formal complaint, they don't care.

You need a real solution to a real problem. Roaches are a health hazard to you and your family. They carry diseases. Their goal is to keep the problem existing to keep money coming in regardless of the health hazards or personal problems it may cost you. I can't get custody of my kids with home in this condition. Guess what, they are so slimy they only care to take you money. This should be illegal. Crooks.

Arrogant, ignorant, self fulfilling people. Will ruin your life and somehow feel justified. DO NOT USE THE SE GUYS ESPECIALLY IF YOU ARE IN MY AREA. There is only one Orkin here and the people are terrible, low quality. You cannot request another office or technician. Oh the joy.
