My superintendent said we had bugs and called in "Orkin" to deal with this problem. They came and sprayed but gave the super a copy of what they found and not me. They were supposed to put bed bug covers on the bed and didn't. Not sure if they forgot or if it was unnecessary because we didn't have bed bugs. This happened on Friday and the super was off for the weekend. So I tried to get hold of Orkin on Saturday and "Anna" kept saying the boss was busy but would call me back. She said he would call for sure at 2:30. He never did. She said she called the regional manager "Rob," he never called back either.

This company could care less. I was supposed to be out of the apartment for 24 hours and I don't know when they finished. Can I sleep in the bed without bedbug covers on the bed or am I making this problem worse? They were supposed to put the covers on my mattresses which are really heavy and they didn't. I stayed in a hotel for two days with our 8 month old baby. They say their employees make the difference. You know what? Their employees don't care at all about the customer.

Bought a home in 2001. Ower had a contract with Orkin full renewable subterranean termite home ownership repair guarantee. We spoke with Orkin, they removed the original and added my husbands name when we bought the house. We continued paying for the inspections for the past 14 years. All inspections show no signs of termites. My husband, a veteran died on December 17, 2013. After he passed, Orkin contacted me telling me we needed to add a Dryzone for extra protection. Paid over $6,000 to have this completed in March 2014. Had repair work completed on our home in April 2014. The contractors could not believe their findings. Entire beams holding the house up were eaten away. Live termites were everywhere. When I called Orkin, they stated it must have been a void space they had entered. Orkin retreated the area but refuse to pair for any repairs. As a widow on a fix income, I can't afford to have the home rebuilt. It is destroyed. Their contract forbids any legal action against them. This is one of the worst things that could happen to a person other than losing their loved one. I have had both happen to me in less than 6 months.

I called Orkin at (877) 331-0931, the phone number they posted on the internet. The first lady answered the phone and collected all my information and asked if I am interested to sell my house or need to refinance, which I say NO. Then she said she is going to transfer me to the customer rep who will schedule the free inspection. The second lady answered the call asked the same selling/refinance question and then started to collect the information I just gave out. My question is: Why does Orkin keep asking the same question by different people on their advertised phone number? Shouldn't the first call be answered by the customer rep? What is the purpose of the first answer that collects all the info?

Called them out cause we had a bug infestation going on between the walls of our home so decided to go with so called experts in my mind. I had seen various commercials claiming to kill a bug - you have to think like a bug. What a joke - the only thing these so called techs and experts were good at was wasting my time and money. Very expensive for horrible service. They came in spraying a few corners and promptly leaving. Needless to say, I am very disappointed with my service. I could have done the same by going to home depot and buying a gallon of ortho pest be gone. So please save your hard earned money and do it yourself. This is a huge scam and the name is not the best solution. I say do it yourself, save money and headaches. I would never recommend them to anyone. Scam alert. To sum it up, their services are garbage.

I signed up for Orkin, just from brand name recognition. I had a problem with fleas and cockroaches. I read the one-year contract after I signed it. It was so one-sided I couldn't believe it. I was required to make my monthly payments. They were required to treat my house once a month. It didn't say anything about getting rid of pests. But it did say that they would come out and treat me without extra charge if I still had pest problems. Even then, it didn't say it would get rid of them.

The Orkin man was courteous, but he gave me this song and dance about how impossible it is to control cockroaches. I know this not to be true because I have used Combat Roach Hotels to get rid of cockroaches in the past and they worked well. The Orkin treatments did not really work. They helped somewhat, I suppose. It is always more profitable to treat a problem than it is to cure it. If they cured my problem, I wouldn't have to keep their service any more, would I?

I just decided to work them to death. I called them out six to eight times a month. After a few months they were only too glad to let me out of my contract.

It has taken us over 3 weeks to prepare for Orkin's scheduled 10 am appointment to have our entire home sprayed for spiders. Due to the arrangements ,we had to make to be out of the home for 6 hours. Three dogs had to be kenneled and my wife was expecting the Orkin tech to arrive by 10am. No show, no call, contacted the Orkin tech/Sosian and he informed me he would have to reschedule for 11:30am (which meant not re-entering our home until after 6pm). Contacted Hemal the manager and he did not provide any solution either. Very poor customer service or consideration for the effort put forth in our preparations and the logistics of planning everything. Someone could have called to say they were running late or reschedule but they did not care, even when I called them. No wonder they have such an extremely poor service record. Should have checked before using them.

After cancelling my account due to no one coming to my home for two months, they put a new tech on my route. He supposedly came to my home unannounced, not scheduled to do a service call. No door tag was left, no phone message informing me of his visit was left. They all of a sudden sent me a bill for $75. I was like "must be a mistake because no one has been here since Dec 2013." April I started receiving payment demand call so I ask the rep to have someone call me to explain exactly what I was being billed for since they always said they did not have that info. So now I have a collection agency calling and sending letters. I called the agency back to find out this guy supposedly came and did a perimeter treatment; what is that. Park in front of my house and look at it because in January it was snowing (so now they think I'm stupid).

Okay!!! Now I have finally had it, called them and they said call the branch had to handle it. Called the branch, spoke with Douglas who was very unprofessional, did not want to get a supervisor for me. So I asked his name and then miraculously a supervisor appeared out of the air. I spoke with the supervisor and he told me there was nothing he could do but send someone out to my house as a courtesy. WTH Now why would I want to start this all over again. I told him if he could prove to me someone came to my house (supposedly doing the perimeter only) I would pay the bill; silence... Okay now I hear, "let me "run" this pass my boss and I'll call you back." Well guess what; they REALLY got the wrong one. To be continued...

Disappointed and completely dissatisfied. Unprofessional C/S on the phone, and unprofessional technicians that say things like "Well, I can spray it all day long and it still wouldn't get rid of the problem." Our silverfish problem still exists, and they don't come out for in-between visits like they "guarantee" if the problem persists. Decide to make up their own schedule - for 6 months we had a steady schedule. Now they come out whenever it's convenient for them without plausible explanations. But when it's time to charge your card, they seem to have those records straight and available. So, the outcome is "We want charge you for NOT getting rid of the problem, whenever it's convenient to us". "As long as you pay with a credit card on file - we're good (!) but everything else is your problem!!" I'm dropping them. If this practice continues, I wonder how long they would last.

I was an Orkin customer for quite a few year for termite service. In 2013 they cancelled my account, didn't like this but had not received my inspection either. I had made two payments totaling $204.69 of my renewal cost of $304.69, pretty hefty for a yearly inspection! $100 which I had forgotten to send was mailed on January 11, 2014. I didn't find out that I was cancelled until that check was returned to me. No inspection was done in 2013. I received no cancellation notice from Orkin and when my check was returned, I asked for my money back which I was told at the time that it would be returned to me.

Since then I sent Orkin two bills and was told the check was in the mail. I finally did receive a check dated March 5, 2014 for only $77.74 only short $126.42 of what I had paid them. Now they are trying to say this was prorated to some imaginary expiration date. I feel they still owe me $126.42 and they have the worst customer service. I would recommend this company to no one. Thanks for letting me voice this complaint.

For the first time, I had fleas in my home from my cats. I called Orkin and paid nearly $400.00 to have them come in and see how bad the infestation was and the cost included 2 separate sprayings. Was told that after a month had gone by, they would call again and see if I needed another spraying (#2). Instructed to vacuum the house two-three times a day for 2-3 weeks. Orkin man came and sprayed (end of Nov.) and said he would call and come out again in a month for second spraying. Well, I let the holidays go by with no call from Orkin, and I could tell my cats were still itching up a storm.

I had to call them and it was numerous back and forth messages for Orkin to arrange appt and arrive again - Jan 30th, this year. Have been vac'ing as much as I can (but is it reasonable to say that a person with a full time job can really vac a house top to bottom 3 times a day???). No fleas seen so far and cats seem better, but more time needs to go by to see if this costly procedure has paid off. I wish I had shopped around a bit before going with Orkin.

I hired Orkin to get rid of bugs in my house. After the 1st visit I saw more bug activity than before they came out. The second time they came out the guy was different guy and he said the first guy did not put bait out or anything like he was suppose to. And after that visit I did not see them after a week in the upstairs area but they were over running the basement. I tried to get Orkin to put off the treatment until Feb instead of doing it in Jan. So I could get the stuff the last tenant left in the basement, washer, dryer and deep freezer that did not work so they would have no place to hid. And instead of working with me they decided to cancel the contract which was alright with me because I figure as a company out to make money you would work with the customer no matter what the situation. If they needed $77 that bad they need to have better customer service.

I hired Orkin to come and get rid of bed bugs. They do tell you they guarantee to get rid of them, but not that they won't come back. This is bull. I don't think they got rid of them at all. I had to dump a year old sofa, love seat, and my son's bed. They may have killed the live ones, but not the nests or anything else. I had to bag everything, from drawers, closets and more. Had to wash curtains, sheets, and more. 4 large trash bags, three days in a row. All this stress, and pay them over $900 that my mom charged, and I pay $87 a month back. I am on disability myself, taking care of a disabled son. They did come the three times they said they would, but bugs still in my home.

I now called a guy who only charged me $100. Did all three rooms and other than washing clothes and anything on or around the beds, did not have to go thru the hell of bagging everything and storing it in my bathroom and kitchen, then having to clean the things off. Orkin stinks to me. They are all business. The man I got actually only charged me for one room, not two because he came back to do a room I thought was clean. Plus was PAYING IT FORWARD because God let him live after having a heart attack. Think Orkin would do that? No way Jose. Never again Orkin. And if you all are smart, do NOT get them for BED BUG PROBLEMS. Wish I could sue them. Or get my money back.

For months I had been scheduled for monthly pest control on the 1st Saturday of every month. One day the Conyers service manager changes it to another weekend without telling the customer so we sit around half a day only to find that no one is coming that day. He says he changed it to the 2nd Saturday. That is fine as long as we know when to expect someone. The real problem for me is that from month to month the service schedule is changed without the customer being informed. This month they did not come on the 1st or 2nd Saturday.

I am about fed up with making a monthly call to find out when or if someone is coming. I am also somewhat upset by the fact that the manager at the Conyers, GA center referred to me as "people in that area". I don't think that racist insinuations and poor customer service are going to keep this business growing. If there is an area of town that they don't want to serve they should publicly say so. I mention my experiences with Orkin to everyone I know with the hopes that they will find a different pest control provider. I have also asked through social media if anyone else is running into this problem in DeKalb County, GA.

I filled out an online form on a Saturday night, as we had a problem with dog ticks that I thought I might need help with. Almost immediately I was called by representative Juan. He was friendly, but I noticed he asked me the same questions over and over again, as if he wasn't really paying attention or was stoned. Still, I gave him all my info, including a credit card, to reserve a time on Monday for someone to come out. Later that night I got a phone call that my Mom was in ICU with a probable heart attack. Of course I wanted to be with her and my family, so I used the online form (that was so promptly responded to when requesting an estimate), and assumed my explanation and request to cancel would be honored. It was not.

I got a phone call from one rep, who left a message. I saw the Orkin number on my phone and did not answer while with my mother. But I did go out to the waiting room and called Orkin back. I spoke to Juan, who did remember me from our discussion the prior evening. It seemed he understood, he SAID he did. But then an hour later he called me AGAIN. When I became a bit angry and reminded him that we just spoke, he paused and said "Oh, yeah, I do see that note, sorry about that. I'll take care of it." I thought maybe THEN I was done with annoying issue. But NO. Today, while home to make lunch for my kids (home from school due to weather), an Orkin man showed up at the door! Wow....he was polite and said sorry about the confusion, no problem. But you can bet I'll be watching my credit card closely to make sure that I am not charged by Orkin. DO NOT USE ORKIN. Dec 27, 2013 - Orkin rates as one of THE WORST when it comes to C/S. They stood me up for not one, but two follow-up appts. I'm quite sure had I not already PAID IN FULL, they would've showed up to do the promised service calls. Instead, I'm left hanging. Wasting my time, which = money. I understand things can happen, but to make matters worse, when I called to see where my tech was, their C/S Manager, Michael, was so damn rude. He acted as if I made the mistake! Nice work! And to think you are a C/S Manager. Word of advice: get into a new line of work.

Ironically, I found this quote on Orkin's website: "With more than 400 locations in the United States, Canada, Central America, the Middle East, the Caribbean and Asia, you can trust Orkin to provide the high-quality, consistent service you'd expect no matter where you are." I called them and they came back out and re-applied the product in my home. I left for several hours and was given instructions to follow post treatment which I did once again. The following week the biting started again and when I called Orkin, I was told that I wasn't following their instruction to remove any animals from my home. I advised them that our dog had been away with my daughter in college since the initial treatment and wouldn't be back for months. Later I was told b/c I have an un-carpeted basement that they could not guarantee their work. I have been back and forth with them and to no avail. I will never use Orkin again they do not have a reputable flea service that they can stand behind and should truly consider not advertising flea treatment because it is false advertisement and a theft of services. We called Orkin to spray and like many others was charged $500.00 a room and a 30 day guarantee. They sprayed the room and said "you should be clear now." Two days later my girls were still getting bites and I called them. They came to inspect the room and sure enough, they found signs of the bugs... They were like this should not have been happening, but it was. Then she realized her partner forgot to spray the headboard and the room is infested again. She sprayed the headboard but with a handheld spray, not the strong stuff. I made them come back once a week to assure me that we had no more bugs. They kept saying "You have none. You have no more bugs."

Alas the 30 days were up and two weeks later, you guessed it: bed bugs in the same room they sprayed plus they moved to the next room by now. I called and complained. Orkin's answer was the 30 days is up and we will have to charge you another 500.00... You are not getting any more money out of me. Very upset. I called Orkin in about 4 months ago because people from different organization always tell us to get certified and licensed people to do the job. My apartment had a lot of mice so I had to sign contract for a nine month period. To date I have paid over $526.00 and Orkin's exterminators cannot get the mice out of the apartment. I am not an exterminator and I don't know their policy but I seriously think that the company does not have a standard treatment for mice because each person that comes tells a different story as to how to treat the problem. Now how am I supposed to know what they are NOT giving me? I don't have anymore money to pay this company because after the contract is signed I cannot get on to them.

The receptionist at the Hempstead Long Island office would keep me on hold for 30 minutes or more. The exterminators fix one date and then don't show up while I sit at home and my tenant take day off. One of the exterminator had the audacity to tell me that she was doing me a favor by setting up another visit which never took place anyway. This is the kind of company that I paid two weeks of my paycheck to eliminate pests from my house and right at this moment I continue to have the same problem. I don't know what they are spraying but even the ants in the house are still there. I either get my money back or they come and take care of the problem and I am not going to continue the next part of the contract. They are horrible.

On Tuesday morning, September 9th, at about 7 am, I called the national Orkin number to get service started because I heard a rodent moving around in my attic. The woman at the service scheduling center took my information and my payment information and informed me that a technician would be at my address between 3 pm and 5 pm the same day. I took time off from work to be at home. No technician showed up nor did I get a phone call as promised. I called the Orkin center again and was told that the service office was closed and that the manager would call me first thing in the morning on the 10th.

After not receiving the promised phone call I again called the Orkin center and was told the manager would call me, which he finally did just before 1 pm on 10 September 2013. In speaking to the manager, he assured me that the technician would arrive between 8 am and 10 am on the 13th. So again, I took time off work to be at home. Again no technician arrived for the appointment. I called the manager again who told me that some mistake had been made that my paperwork went into the basket as being completed rather than a new service call. He then stated that he would be here between 3 pm and 4 pm on the 13th to initiate the service. So now I have to take off a full day of work rather than the few hours I was promised each time they were scheduled to appear.

I recently moved into a new house, about a week after moving in, discovered bed bugs! Not my ideal situation by any means but I was only seeing them in one room so I assumed have that room treated and everything will be fine. Well Orkin man comes out for an inspection, I show him a bed bug I had caught and placed in a mason jar and he leaves, doesn't check the back living room (where they were being seen or everyone bit), didn't check the rest of the house. He did none of that. I received no paper informing me how to prep. He just said take everything out of the closet, keep in mind all my stuff was still in boxes. I was also not informed of what to do after except after the 2nd treatment where he said not to mop my floors for 2 weeks.

The same day he did the 2nd treatment I found one in our front living room next night my bed after it bit me. 4 days later still being bit constantly in the treated room and I'm finding them all over! We even went as far as putting all our papers in space saver bags in the bathroom with a heater that reach 140 for 2 hours to kill anything that might have been on them. Constant vacuuming, cleaning sorting and it’s like the first treatment never happened, all they did was make it worse! A lot worse, my plan to treat one room at a time not gonna happen (that was the plan because they charge $400 per room!!). Will never be using them again that's for sure for any of our bug issues!

In April (2013), I noticed that my account had been charged - yet I had not received service. I called the tech and he apologized, saying he had intended to come out that day but got tied up...He assured me he would be out the following week. That week never came, and my 2 calls to their office were not returned. Finally, someone else comes to my property and says the other tech no longer works there. I called the office back and spoke with the ever so non-caring manager, Craig, and he assured me that my missed service of which I had paid for but never got, would be taken care of - that on this service, he would not charge me for. And honestly, that is about the only thing that "Craig" has kept his word on.

The new guy who treated the garage and outside was only here 15 minutes. I instinctively knew that how he was "working" was not going to handle the problem here. And sure enough after 10 days, I called back (the first time I ever had to do that) to say that his treatment was useless. Craig assured me that he would have someone contact me the following week for a follow-up treatment. Two weeks later I called back. He (Craig) apologized again and ASSURED me that someone would be out the "this Friday" at the latest.

Ok, so Monday, I called to tell him to basically shove it where the sun doesn't shine and he "conned" me into giving him "one more chance" that Orkin service would be "free until you are satisfied". There would be someone at my home the next day, period, no questions. I called back the day after that no one again showed up - and this time Craig was not in the office. I spoke with Diane, the office person (who is extremely nice by the way) and explained EVERYTHING to her - to which of course, SHE apologized and said that was not like Craig that she was sure his lack of response and utter irresponsibility was not intentional. I told her if it was happening to me, then I had no doubt that other people were getting the same and that it was just not right.

I asked her how she would feel and she agreed with me, that she would be pissed as well. I told her to REMOVE me from their systems and I never wanted to see and/or hear from anyone associated with Orkin again. Guess what. I get notifications when I use my bank card - and I got one this morning. A charge from Orkin was made to MY bank account yesterday - is this even LEGAL? I am livid - they charged my account w/o giving me service, after I asked them to remove me. Anyone know any attorneys? This is RIDICULOUS. Call someone else. Do NOT use ORKIN.

I called Orkin to say we noticed bed bugs on our mattress. I was very concerned and wanted someone to come ASAP. I had to wait 3 days and someone did come and looked with a flashlight, and said he saw nothing but someone will come out to apply pesticides if we decide to continue with Orkin. Since we never had to deal with bed bugs, we were told pesticides will kill the bed bugs, with possibly more than 1 treatment. So we decided to have the pesticide treatment done for $494.00 for the 1 bedroom and adjoining wall to the other bedroom.

In the meantime, we got rid of the mattress and box springs. The day they were to come we got a call that the person coming injured his back... so my husband already took the day off of work!!! Also we were told there is only 1 person in Cleveland Ohio that does bed bugs!!! Really no one else. What a joke! So we were told by the rude person named Ron that this person will be back to work the following day. The worker came as planned, sprayed the pesticides and we were good to go. We didn't use the room for a week since we were waiting for the mattress and box springs. Once they came, we assembled the bed and bought the mattress encasing . My husband decided to take a nap for about 2 hours and to his surprise when he woke up, there were several bedbugs!!!

Now remember the room was never used since the Orkin visit. I immediately call Orkin that day which was a Saturday and was told I'll have to wait till Monday to schedule an appt. I'm now extremely upset so we decided to rip up the carpet just in case there were eggs in the carpet. When I called Orkin Monday am, I spoke with Ron, the rude person I spoke to before. He was very unprofessional and loud. He said I had to wait until Wed. for the service person to come back. Remember they only have 1 person in Cleveland that does bedbugs!!! He did say they guaranteed their service and it may take several visits. So I decided I'm tired of waiting on their service with such a limited time frame and staff and of course Ron, the rude person on the phone. Who needs this aggravation along with he bed bugs!!!

I'm out $494.00 and very upset!!! In the meantime, I'm using Bed Bug Burners and decided on heat treatment since it's the only method guaranteed. Oh, by the way, I did ask Ron about heat treatment and his response was, "That's going to cost you $2000.00." Long and short of this mess... DON"T USE ORKIN AND GO WITH THE HEAT, NO PESTICIDES!!

We moved into our house some 20+ years ago and at the time had issues with ants. We joked that the house must have been built on an ant hill. We tried 2 different pest control companies that failed BIG TIME. Both companies would come inside and knock holes in walls inside cabinets and spray their chemicals which resulted in just chasing the ants from one place to another. Then we hired Orkin and they would come out each month and only spray around the outside perimeter of the house and good-bye ants and any other bug that tried to come in. Year after year while our neighbors had ants running freely in their kitchen, our home remained bug free. We sold our house and retired to a senior apartment. Now my daughter has just moved into a house and has seen a few spiders, so I will be calling Orkin to set up an appointment for her to get monthly service. Their proven track record of 20 years of service with great results makes them an outstanding company in my books.

He said he'd swing by at 4 o'clock. (We live in a three-bedroom apartment.) He didn't show up until 6, took SO many cigarette breaks, flirted his ** off with my cousin, went and smoked weed, and did not finish until 10 o'clock. Now, Orkin advertises that the pest control dries in 1-2 hours, but at 6 in the morning, all of our furniture was saturated with it. We had to dry it by blow dryer and fans. The wood on the floor is drying out and the dresser is spotty, and he didn't even put powder in the vents of sockets because he "ran out". For as much as we paid, you'd think they'd take it more seriously, or at least make sure what they advertise is the correct advertisement.

My family and I agreed to cancel the existing pest control contract due to their limitations and went to Orkin based on their name. In Feb. 2013, I had an inspector come out and ascertain that I may have a small bed bug infestation. I agreed to get it treated and paid over $3,000 for them to simply spray the house. I spent an additional $200+ on drying all my clothes at the temperature designated by Orkin. I lost a lot of clothing, items that I loved, on those two days of preparation. One week after my home was allegedly treated, I called the local office and told them that I am being bitten and they need to come out and do a follow up. What I got were voicemails and unreturned phone calls.

Months later, the bites got worse and worse and it looked like I had chicken pox on my arms. I had them to come out again today to inspect. The inspector found fecal matter that they live on and two live ones which he played with until I said something, then he used a spray to kill the two. He told me I was going to have to pay for a re-treatment of the house again and go through the process all over again of removing all my clothes and such from the house at another cost of $3,000+. I then went to my bedroom to wipe away the fecal matter until I could figure out the next move.

To my surprise, I lifted the box spring to see live bed bugs inside of the case they put on your mattress and box springs and more fecal matter along with holes as if they found a way to eat out the casing. Highly upset, I called the local office to be put on standby as usual. If they had really treated my home and box spring like they should have the first time, I would not have to figure out where I am going to get another $3,000+ to have this resolved. I have lost a lot due to this but to pay them upfront for services not rendered I am beyond livid...

When I bought my house, I had another company come out to check for bug, termites, mice, etc. before we moved in because no one lived in the house for 2 years. Orkin did not honor agreement as they installed shoddy materials and appallingly poor workmanship. On April 24, 2013, an Orkin representative inspected the crawl space of our house and gave a presentation regarding their recommendation and costs of encapsulating the crawl area plus; (a) sistering 13 floor joists that exhibit some degree of dry rot and (b) the replacement of all floor insulation. Orkin recommended a contractor to take care of repairing the floor joists and the removal of a plywood form under the front porch that was originally used to pour concrete for the porch. The plywood was not termite infested but had developed a degree of dry rot due to moisture.

Orkin's first quoted prices were 130% greater than competition for some recommended projects and more than 300% greater for other work. Since Orkin's price to remove and replace the floor insulation was more than three times higher than local contractors, I agreed to have the insulation replacement performed by another concern. The insulation was removed prior to Orkin starting work on encapsulation.

Although I had stressed to Orkin representative and the contractor that I must have the plywood form with dry rot removed as one of the most important part of the project, Orkin nevertheless closed off the porch area wall with polyurethane blocking any access for the contractor. I pointed this out to Orkin and they contacted the contractor, had them temporarily open up that section of wall polyurethane, had the contractor remove the wood and Orkin replace and reseal the polyurethane cover. This is an example of Orkin completely disregarding any part of our original agreement and the items I required in addition to their shoddy workmanship.

Prior to accepting the encapsulation project, the Orkin representative told us encapsulation would correct the moisture problem without a dehumidifier being installed and he offered to encapsulate the crawl area and include the necessary treatment for a price of $4,211. I asked what the specs were for the treatment and the polyurethane and was told the poly will be 20 mil. The specified treatment will be Bora Care and Great Stuff. I failed to insist the specs be put in writing although this is the normal, standard procedure for honest businesses.

Yet the installed poly appears to be very thin and I noticed the Termite Inspection Report lists the poly as only a mere 6 mil. When I complained to Orkin, their only reply was they always use only 6 mil, which is a contradiction to what I was originally told. And Orkin insisted it is sufficient. I feel a poly lining this very thin will not stand up over time and found other companies specify 20 mil cover. The installed poly cover does not appear to be even close to the pictures Orkin showed me of finished work they allegedly performed for other customers.

We have a major problem of very poor workmanship with the encapsulation, in addition to poor quality materials. We experienced a lot of rain the day of the installation, Saturday April 27, 2013 until the next day. The following morning, I inspected the crawl area and found conditions to be deplorable. Between one quarter to one third of the crawl area had standing water. There is no possible way this amount of water could have come from the atmosphere and the ground cover was obviously not properly sealed. An inspection of the seams of the ground cover confirmed much of the seam areas were never sealed properly at the foot of the foundation concrete block columns and at many seams of the ground cover.

I am out $4,211 which is substantial for a retired couple on fixed income and our crawl space conditions are the same as prior to the work performed by Orkin.

I contracted with Orkin a year ago because we had a mouse problem. I told them on the first visit that all we had were mice and that's what I wanted taken care of. It's been about a year and we still have mice. I also asked them not to use sticky traps because I feel it's really inhumane. If we're going to kill the mouse, just kill it, don't torture it! Two visits ago, the man came out from under the house, where he'd been checking bait stations, and had a sticky trap with 2 dead mice on it. Every time they come, the man does "crevice spraying". What is that for?

We've never had any kind of pests here other than the mice. I've told them not to do it; but every time, he does it. Also, somewhere along the line, during the year, they must have changed baits because when they first were coming out, the mice would leave blue/green droppings and I knew they were still around. Now, I see wheat-colored droppings... and you'd really have to be looking to even recognize them for what they are. But, every day I clean out the Lazy Susan under my counters, and every morning, more wheat-colored particles are there. I'd think you'd want bait that was blue/green so you'd really be sure they're still there.

I've asked the man several times about it but have never gotten a straight answer. I wanted to cancel my contract 3 months ago and their office informed me that I'd signed a contract for a year and couldn't get out of it. A man from another Pest Control company said they can't enforce the contract but since it's almost over, I'm going to cancel then. Another thing is that they are constantly wanting to "upgrade" my service for more money for termites, more money for actually insulating our attic! I believe that if you are paying a company for "pest" control, it should cover any pests you come up with. I don't know how other companies work that part; but on my part, I'm totally dissatisfied with them. I'm ready to buy my own traps and catch & release the mice into the woods!

After a short vacation in Florida, it appeared that within a couple of weeks I began noticing bites on myself (not my husband) in the manner of breakfast, lunch and dinner. From the extensive internet research I did, we were certain we had brought back bed bug hitchhikers. This began in mid-January and it is now mid-March. After a couple of weeks of getting these bites every night and feeling like I was living in a true nightmare, I decided to phone Orkin. The office staff were very pleasant and sent a salesman out 3 days later. I felt as if I was being sold a car, not pest control. It took them an additional week to come and spray our home, as I am getting bitten each and every night in the meantime, sleeping with the lights on and tons of clothing.

After the first application, we still had bugs and still bitten every night, but Orkin's team was never able to find any evidence of them. Skin sheds, fecal matter or blood stains. I was in tears about a week later and called the office. I will say the office was compassionate to my misery and the same gentleman came to the house that very day. He was also understanding to my needs. However, $1,200 later (including dogs who sniff out BB's), I still had bugs. One of my biggest complaint was how the gentleman conducted his search for bed bugs. He did not make any attempt to pull back carpet, disassemble any furniture (I am the one who grabbed my drill and began taking the bed apart).

He came saying he was prepared to spray again, went upstairs and sprayed one bedroom, which took about 5 minutes. He left saying he felt completely comfortable that I have nothing to worry about and that he could comfortably go in his own home with bringing bugs with him. Well as I said, I was still getting bitten. The bottom line is pesticides do not work on bed bugs and I think that these extermination companies are duping people for lots of money, knowing very well that it will not work. We ended up calling a place to use high heat, which is apparently the only effective treatment for them. I do not know how to possibly get my money back or even if I can. I just wish that exterminators would not make a claim they cannot stick to.

I moved to my apartment in Miami in Jan. of 2012. The apartment had been vacant a few months and is right on the intercoastal, so of course I began to see large roaches (some call them water bugs). I told my landlord and he hired Orkin. Big mistake. An older aloof man with a horrible attitude would come sparsely spray chemicals on the walls and floor and leave within 5 minutes. The white paint in my bathroom would get splashed with the pinkish purple "chemical." After that I would still see at least 3-5 giant roaches a week. I also noticed ghost ants all over my kitchen. I called to complain and was told I would get an "inspection" to find the source of the roaches and where they were coming from. This never happened.

The same old guy returned with a bitter annoyed demeanor because they had obviously informed him of my complaint. No inspection of any kind was done. I asked him why I was still seeing so many roaches and his annoyed response was "Well, you're right on the water!" At the time of his arrival, there happened to be a live roach in my bathroom. I asked him to remove it and he told me he didn't see anything. After he did his half ** job of spraying my walls and left, I had to kill the roach myself.

Eventually, I gave up on Orkin and went to Home Depot and bought ant baits, boric acid, and Ortho Home Defense, which showed more effective results and cost less than $20.00 for all three products. I recently learned about Demon Roach spray, which I ordered as well. Also, when I had complained to Orkin about the ghost ants, they told me they were impossible to get rid of and it was something I would have to just deal with because "it's Florida." I was also told that they do not use ant baits. The baits I purchased from Home Depot were $3 and worked immediately. I have not seen an ant in 8 months.

My landlord got me a once a month contract for one year, and out of that year, they showed up 5 times at their own convenience. Orkin is a shady company making money off of people who are looking to trust professional experts. It's sad they are still in business. Legal action needs to be taken against this group of con artists. The employees are rude, low-class dirt bags that should not be dealing with the public. That's only the beginning. The invoices were showing up at the house in my full name, which I am still trying to figure out how they got that information.

My boyfriend called and they said they would put the bill in the proper name. It was never done. We also decided because of the horrible customer service we received, that we would cancel the contract. They were called once again. Nothing was changed, no one cancelled our service, and the exterminator showed up at the house one morning. I walked outside and told him we cancelled the service. He said that if we cancelled, that was fine; that when you cancel the service, you receive one more service before it is cancelled which makes no sense. He continued by telling me that all of that information was in the contract that was signed. I never had the contract and didn't sign it.

Also, apparently when the exterminator comes out to treat your property after serviced are rendered, the customer is to sign a copy of the services. I personally never signed anything, ever, the entire time this was going on. The last invoice was copied and sent to my residence with my name written on the envelope. The signature isn't mine and it isn't anyone else that resides in the house. We have called numerous times about this matter. It seems as though no one cares. Today I received a final notice to pay for the last service that was never completed, stating that if I didn't pay the balance by the end of this month, it would be put into collections.

I am not happy. I am disappointed with the way Orkin is handling their customers and disgusted that someone would forge my signature. Never again will I use Orkin and I have told everyone I know about this experience.

I have been set up on automatic payments for a year. In October 2012, I was charged for service and the technician never came. At the beginning of November, I reminded him I already paid and he said I wouldn't be charged. The following week, I was charged again which cost me $30 in overdraft fees because I wasn't expecting it. I called him. He said he would talk to his supervisor, nothing happened. He didn't come in December and I wasn't charged (I was still ahead 1 month service). In January, a new service guy showed up. Knowing nothing about the situation, I told him what had happened. He said I would not be charged, and now again I've been charged, which I was not expecting (so far today, I now have $60 in overdraft fees because Orkin stole my money). By tomorrow, when I get paid, it's probably going to be worse.

After 20 plus years, the service of Orkin has become non-functional. After repeated attempts to see the original contract, the company has ignored the request. The annual inspections have become a farce and become a scam to sell a higher-priced contract. Some years, we have had to beg for the inspection and a few have been missed altogether. It appears that Orkin is living off its past reputation and it is doubtful if it would stand behind verbal commitments. The service gets higher without any service or response so I'm dropping Orkin. I suggest finding another company.

We were told we would have the same technician and everything would stay the same, so we continued our quarterly service. Well, it was nowhere near the same. After calling numerous times to complain, I finally spoke with Len **, the general manager. He assured me after explaining the techs from Home Front had all left the company (didn't make me feel very good) and he had to bring someone from Beverly Hills who was "not used to working in an area such as mine". I'm not sure what that meant, but Len told me he would personally come back out with the technician, re-shoot my home, and train the technician properly. Well, it has been a month, and the spider webs are back like never before. I have bugs in my house. I never had bugs in my house prior to this. And I was to have received a credit for $49.50 to my credit card. I still have not received the credit, and I incurred a late fee and interest (I only use that card for them). Mind you, they gave no 3 day courtesy call that they stated they would! But most importantly, they did not come to my house! They left no invoice, no little Orkin tag; nothing! My wife and I contracted Pest Control Services with Orkin Branch #242 in Augusta, GA back in June 2012. We set-up for Auto-Renew from the first day they dropped the ball. The tech was scheduled to arrive at 4pm. Well, when 4pm came, no tech. So we called the office, and they stated that the tech was delayed on a previous job but would be there within 30 minutes. Well, 30 minutes passed, as well as another 2 hours, with not as much as a courtesy phone call. So we called the office, and they sent out the service manager at 7pm. We scheduled a 7-day follow-up service. When that day arrived, the same tech was once again a no-show. We called and rescheduled.

One month later, we scheduled a 2pm follow-up from the initial service, and as before, when 2pm came, no tech. We left and went out to dinner. Upon our return, there was an invoice in our front door from Orkin with remarks from the same non-punctual tech: "Came by at 4:30pm and performed outside service. Call me back for follow-up inside service.” Even though only half-service was performed (supposedly), our credit card was billed for a full-service. I later checked our outside security monitors and saw where the tech pulled up to the driveway, walked up to the door, rang the doorbell, and when no one answered, went back to his vehicle, began writing up an invoice. When he finished, he exited his vehicle and placed the invoice in the front door.

Now mind you, this is the same tech that was scheduled on two previous appointments but failed to show, and of course never called nor did he answer his phone when we called. The next day, I contacted the branch office to speak to the manager and was placed on hold for over 30 minutes. When the receptionist came back on the line, I informed her that I was extremely upset at the fact of being on hold for 30 minutes, to which she replied, “You have not been on hold for 30 minutes. It's only been 27 and 1/2 minutes.” I then lost it and went off. I told her that she had better have someone in management call me back within the hour.

Finally, after contacting Orkin's corporate office, I received a phone call from the branch manager. Needless to say, we cancelled our contract and were given a refund. But it should never have taken all that. I would like to say that there was only one Orkin employee that did his job correctly during this entire ordeal - that being the service manager that came out at 7pm to perform the initial service even though it was 3 hours late. He was off when he called to apologize for the terrible service and came by to perform the service even though he had gotten off work 2 hours prior. It's no wonder Orkin's techs and office personnel don't behave professionally and practice customer service. Their management does not expect or inspect them to, nor are they held accountable when they don't.

Over 2 1/2 years ago, my husband and I had to move to upper NY State for work, but we kept the Chicago house, and my son continued living there. The original service man, John, finally retired last year, as he was getting very difficult to get along with, even after all those years. My son moved from the 2-flat last month, and there has been nothing but chaos since. He is never told the correct day to be there to let in the service person. He has ended up waiting for hours on the day he is told by the office she is coming, and no one shows up at all.

When you call the office, the person answering could not be more rude or unprofessional. It is always our fault when someone shows up and no one is there to let them in the house. Both my son and I have called to discontinue service, and she is so unprofessional that we get no response. I asked to speak to a manager and was told that "he just left" last Friday and would call back immediately – naturally, no call. I want a refund of the services we have not yet used, but I doubt that will happen as long as this nitwit is answering the phone there. This has been a horrible experience from a huge company that should be professional. Orkin has treated our house two times for bedbugs. The first time was the upstairs, then a member of the family got bites while she was sleeping downstairs. We paid Orkin once again to come and treat the house for the second time. Also, we were informed that if there is still evidence of bedbugs within a month of being treated, they will spray the same rooms again for free. When I called Orkin for a third time, the sales manager told us that even if there are bites (six bites in a row - breakfast, lunch and dinner - which is how bedbugs feed), they will not spray for free unless they actually see the bugs. But when we gave Orkin the first call and showed them bites, they were quick to take our money.

Also, when we called them the third time complaining about how there are still bugs in our home, the sales manager hung up the phone. Orkin is refusing to come out here and inspect our home, which shouldn't have to be done if they treated it correctly in the first place. If you have bedbugs and you want to get rid of them, do not rely on Orkin.

I have her name down, Pat, and she is wonderful and so nice. When I need help, they come to me as soon as they can. We recently not too long ago found out we have bedbugs in the kids' room from babysitting a child who transferred them here on his clothes. And they have been so helpful and they said they will continue to do their job until they are all gone and they have been.

Before that, we had fleas and it took three times to kill them. Our bug man brought in some heavy-duty flea killer and they were gone like nothing the third time. He uses that stuff every time if we get fleas because he knows it works the best, but he has always come to our rescue as soon as he could. I have no complaints. It seems only the big cities have the complaints. I'm glad Orkin here has the greatest people. Not all Orkin is bad. Yes, you might have some bad ones but there are always awesome ones. Orkin here in Lacrosse, WI has my respect and I will always stay with them no matter if the price is going up. As long as they let me know the price is going up, that's all that matters.

My wife called Orkin yesterday about having a yellow jacket colony removed from our backyard, specifically in our hot tub. After spending over an hour on the phone with the first Orkin rep, she was quoted a price of $234, from which they would deduct a $50 coupon, making it $184 and $134 every 3 months, which was the price for the visit and for a service contract. She agreed and scheduled an appointment for this evening. After scheduling that appointment, she received 3 more phone calls confirming the appointment and confirming that the pest was bees. Each time, she answered in the affirmative. A man named Noel arrived at our house this evening and the first words out of his mouth were "I'm here for your ant problem." Then, he asked if he could use our bathroom, which turned out to be a ruse to get some privacy in order to call his boss. He never flushed the toilet and the water in it was as clean when he came out as it was when he went in.

My wife once again explained that it was bees that he was here to address and he stated that bees were more money. He stated that they would run $350.

We still didn't reject him because we really want this colony of bees out of our hot tub, where they have made themselves a home. We interviewed him about the methods he would be using and his first instinct was that he would just lift up the cover to the hot tub so he could see what we were talking about. That left us uneasy since it is a known fact that bees will swarm if disturbed and we might have ended up with a dead pest control specialist in our backyard, so we asked him what method he would be using to actually eradicate them. He mentioned something called "Wasp Freeze," which he said kills them instantly.

We have done some research online and everything we have read states that unless you manage to have the drones and scouts bring some sort of poison back to the nest and give it to the queen bee, the problem will not be solved. Now we realized that Noel was more likely to hurt himself than the colony of bees, so we bid him farewell. We were back to square one, looking for another company, one that actually knows how to handle a bee problem. We found one, Westchester Bee Control, and the man will be here tomorrow evening, wearing a bee suit. That alone leads me to believe that he knows what he's doing.

Orkin sprays our house every month for pest control. Every year we have a termite inspection, and just last month, we paid several thousand dollars for moisture control. We have bought special vents that I might add do not work, but overall, we have not been a complaining customer. Our regular service man, Danny, has always been very accommodating, and we have no complaint with him.

The problem started when we started seeing field mouse in our kitchen. After catching three, my husband called Orkin and told them we had a problem. He was told that Danny was on vacation, but they would send someone out to check on the problem. We waited 4 days due to the weekend, and he called again. This time, Ralph was told there was no record of his first call, but they would try to send someone out. The next time he called, he was upset. He asked why no one had come to address our problem and was talked to very unprofessionally. The lady told him to calm down or she wouldn't talk to him and said, "I don't have mice in my house, so I don't know what you're talking about."

I might add that my husband is disabled and is unable to get down on the floor and look for a rodent entrance; that's why we have Orkin. My husband also wears hearing aids and talk loudly, but he never spoke inappropriately to the women. He only told her that it had been 7 days, and 7 mice, and no one had even tried to address the problem. He was upset because I was cleaning my kitchen cabinets daily and I was very upset with the nastiness of the problem.

Finally, Danny came to assess the problem eight days later after he returned from vacation. By that time, we had resolved the problem. It is a shame on an organization as large as Orkin that cannot take care of their customers when one of their servicemen is on vacation. No, we are not dropping our service because we have too much invested in Orkin, but we are very upset with this lack of service. However, they had no one who would be able to come see me as it was "after-hours" which I assume means that because it was a holiday and 2:30 in the afternoon that no one was working or on-call. They said they would call me on Tuesday morning at 9 am and send someone immediately. On Tuesday morning at 9:45 am, I called the company who claimed they had no record of my call the previous day. I explained my situation, that the spider had been identified by a photo I sent to the Toronto Zoo, and that I was on Day 3 of a nightmare which was forcing me to live in my backyard and on my neighbor's couch.

They said they would have one of their pest guys contact me immediately, then 11 am rolled around, I called again. Candace put me on hold while she called Michael. Apparently, despite my case being a priority, he had decided to go along on his original call schedule. He would be at my house between 12:30 and 1 pm. At 1:15 pm, Michael finally showed up at my house. He didn't ask for any details but I told him what the zoo had told me anyway. He seemed disinterested, checking his phone. Don't know if he was really listening, but I figured he probably knew all this stuff anyway. After all, this is his job. He asked me to show him where I had last seen the spider and I showed him, explaining that it was 3 days ago and we had lost track of where it went (not to mention I hadn't been in the apartment to stalk the damn thing).

Michael asked for some garbage bags to bag all my bedding and my canopy and then went to his truck to grab some spray that was supposed to kill it. He was at my house for a total of 15 minutes and did a spray only in the upstairs area around the bed (not in the closet or storage area where I have lots of dark crevices which they apparently love). Then he charged me $231.65 (which I paid $232 - apparently they don't make change, fyi) and was on his way. The Toronto Zoo had asked me to keep them updated on the situation, so I called them and told them about the visit and that I had to wait 6 hours for the chemicals to dissipate before going back in. They were horrified and told me not to go back into the apartment. Apparently, spraying the basic areas does not get rid of black widows. You have to either capture and kill them, or spray them directly.

So basically, she is still in my apartment and poses a threat to myself and my pets. They also said that because they are nocturnal, that she is probably in a hiding spot that she has found and that he needs to search through the apartment to find it. I called back Orkin and explained the situation to a rep who was rather snappy about the whole thing and who actually had the nerve to ask "Well, what do you expect us to do about it?" Gee, I dunno. Send a technician to come back and do the job properly! That might be the logical thing to do. She said she would contact Michael and have him give me a call. An hour passed, still no call. I called Orkin again and talked to yet another representative, once again explaining the entire situation and asking for assistance. She said that the supervising manager would give me a call and sort things out.

Another hour passed! That's right. Yet another hour. I called again, and spoke to another representative deep breathing so that I wouldn't be a ** and get hung up on. She transferred me to Candace who seemed to be the only person at Orkin who was trying to do anything for me and fighting to get this sorted out. I was thrilled. I explained the whole thing to Candace along with all the information that the Toronto Zoo had given to me. She said she was going to make a few calls and would call me back in no more than 10 minutes. Ten minutes later, Candace called me back. She was getting an entomologist to come in and educate the company on black widows and try to figure out the best way to get rid of it. It was agreed that Michael's technique had been inefficient, this coming from a company that told me they could deliver and fix my problem. Sheesh! She told me there were a few different ideas already floating around of how best to capture it but that I might still be stranded out of my house for a couple more days while they tried to kill it.

Candace recommended a trip to the LCBO. I concurred. Candace said she would most definitely get back to me soon as her shift was done at 5 and she wanted to see this resolved. A bit later, I still hadn't heard from anyone and was nervous that 5 was slowly ticking around. I called Candace again. She had spoken to the regional manager and he had been supposed to call me. She said she would contact him again and try to get him to contact me and that she would call me before her shift ended to see how things were going. (Seriously love this girl - she is the only good thing at Orkin). I didn't hear anything back. Candace called me at 4:53 and asked if I'd heard from the manager yet. Nope. She wrote him an email telling him to get in contact with me asap and let me know that his name was Rob and I should hear from him soon. She said she hoped I would be able to get a shower, to stay out of my house (which I noticed has a few more widow webs) and that she would call me when she started her shift the next day.

Almost an hour after I had talked to Candace I got a call from the Supervising Manager of Orkin. I was stoked. Stupid me and my hope that things would be rectified! His first question was, "Well, if this is such a big deal, why did you wait three days to call?" I started to explain, shocked that I was being accused of not taking the situation seriously or exaggerating its severity. He interrupted me saying that I didn't need to have attitude. He had to ask these questions. I stated that this was fine, but questions come with answers and I wasn't done yet. I also apologized if I seemed terse, but I had been given the runaround by the company all day and was on Day 3 of being a refugee from my home so I wasn't in the best of moods. The conversation could be summed up by him laughing at me and my situation, saying that he didn't "appreciate" me insulting his "best technician".

I explained that Michael had admitted this was first time dealing with a black widow. He also called me a liar concerning the time frame and the fact that it was a spot spray with no aerosol bombing in my home. He said he would be checking the truck's GPS. I explained that this probably wouldn't make a difference as Michael had spent quite a bit of time hanging out in his truck. Apparently this was him making "preparations". If that was the case, why was he in the truck after he came into my home and did practically nothing. He also said that he doubted it was a black widow as this was too rare. I explained once again that it had been identified by the Zoo. "Well, we aren't the Toronto Zoo and we don't consult with them." Apparently, maybe they should, seeing as the tech didn't even know what the black widow webs look like.

He said I was being unreasonable (I was only asking to have the thing eradicated from my house - something they had initially told me they could do). He said he didn't want me as a customer anymore. I said I wanted my money back. An hour later, Michael arrived back at my house. He was very rude and my friend had to convince him to give me a refund. The money was thrown at me, but at least it was the proper amount. At this point, the neighbors were all on their computers trying to help as much as possible. We got hold of Pest 911 and I spoke to the owner who is a very nice, honest and knowledgeable man. He was upfront that the company didn't have much experience with black widows but that he would help me in any way he could. He thought the best idea was for me to contact more entomologists first and get their advice before I used their services.

I am on Day 4 of being displaced. My cats are at a friend's while I am couch surfing. I called my favorite entomologist at the Toronto Zoo who has been a huge source of advice and support. The zoo hooked me up with their pest control guys and also advised that all my clothes, fabrics, linens, curtains, etc., should be bagged and then frozen for 48 hours to be on the safe side. The pest guys called me and guess what? These wonderful chaps have loads of experience dealing with the critters and will help me fix the situation. They are coming on Saturday (Day 6) and I will be back in my house on Sunday (Day 7). If you find a black widow in your house, I definitely recommend talking to the zoo in your area. After my week-long nightmare is over, I will be giving a rather large donation to the zoo, methinks.

In my home, we had issues with ants, the very small sugar ants. The ants were really bad. We could not leave one glass in the sink, or within minutes, it would be covered with ants. We called Orkin, and they sprayed our house regularly for two years! We would see some improvement, but it would never really cure the issue. Four weeks ago was the last straw for us. The ants were really getting worse. We complained to Orkin that we were in no way ever satisfied. So a manager came to our home with the spray guy.

They sprayed again, and they told us that within one week, we will not have any issues. Guess what? We did, and it was even worse. My husband told them to cancel the contract and to never come back. We did some research and found good reviews on the Terro Ant Liquid Ant Baits. We thought what the heck, it can't hurt; it was $7.99 for six. I was amazed! Literally within minutes of setting out the traps, there was a march of ants heading for the trap. It really was disturbing, but the instruction say to just let them go to the trap and back to the nest. I felt like I was watching a bunch of college students heading to a Kegger block party.

Well, I am pleased to report that within 48 hours, there were absolutely not one single ant on my counters. It's been one week and no ants! For two years, I have lived with ants; and for $7.99, they were gone within 48 hours. I feel so duped by Orkin. I believe they spray sugar water every other visit to keep your contract going. Orkin should be ashamed. Please, if you have sugar ants, try the Terro Ant Baits. You will not be disappointed!

Also, my family and I have been exposed to this pesticide but by far, the worst thing is we have been out of the house for about two weeks while they do "testing" and my home still smells of chemicals.

I put them down and in a couple of days; I removed the sticky papers which were covered with droppings but no mice. I called again, the same thing. I called again and talked to the manager who promised to come with the service manager between 11 - 1 the next day. At 1:05, the service manager called to tell me that he had gone to the wrong house earlier and was now too far away to come to my house. I still have mice behind the refrigerator. Another manager is scheduled to come this afternoon.

I'm looking for a new company; perhaps local is the way to go. A large corporation doesn't seem to care. I also had three snakes in my garage. Once again, I was given sticky paper to put down. I had to mention something about spraying the perimeter of the house like he was supposed to and then he went and grabbed the chemicals again and only sprayed half the perimeter of the house. The next day we came home to find out that he didn't even spray our bathroom or our kids' room. Fleas would attack us. I called them first thing Monday and they sent the same guy back out and all he did was say he couldn't retreat the house when he was supposed to be basically bombing the house.

So once again I called them the next day and they sent a different guy out. He seemed like he knew what he was doing. He said he sprayed a stronger chemical. The next day we again went home. For three days it seemed fine but as I was giving my daughter a bath I noticed bite marks on her and her sister. The next day it seemed like the fleas were worse than they were to begin with. I once again called them, they sent the same guy back out seven days after and all he did was spray a growth hormone. Needless to say that didn't help one bit, the fleas were worse than ever before. I called to cancel. They said they would refund my money but have yet to see that. We are still fighting the problem and our cat hasn't been allowed in the house from before the first time they sprayed. This was the Orkin off Shadeland Ave in Indiana.

This is about branch #994 in Latham, NY. They are just terrible! They caused my closing to be delayed. I had a home inspection by another company, and the inspector was also an NYS certified pest inspector. The first home/pest inspector came and did a great job of inspecting a home I'm buying. He stated that there were signs of wood damage that he believed was caused by termites. He also believed the infestation to be inactive, as no new wood shavings or mud tubes were shown and no wings or other signs were present--the wood damage appeared to be old.

I already was aware of this, as the seller had divulged this information when they first accepted our offer. The current sellers had lived in the home for 10 years and put a new 900 sq. ft. addition onto the house five years ago. The new edition from the basement on up showed no signs of any damage from termites or carpenter ants, and it has been this way--untreated for five years. The old section in the basement, which is joined with the new section at the sill plate showed minor damage in some of the floor joist and one side of the sill plate. Some of the floor joists had already been repaired by sistering the wood. The seller also stated that they never had a treatment in 10 years, but the owners before them had treatment and had eradicated the termites. So, as far as I could see, the damage was a minimum of 10 or more years old.

The original pest/home inspector suggested that I be on the safe side, and get a company like Terminex or Orkin to come and give me a second opinion, as he didn't treat for termites or other pests, he was only certified to inspect for them. I found a number for Orkin and they set an appointment to come inspect for termites four days later. During the Orkin inspection, myself, my realtor, the seller and the Orkin person walked throughout the outside of the home and the basement.

The Orkin person concurred verbally that he didn't believe there was an active infestation, and that he's seen hundreds of homes and the damage to the wood was insignificant. Then, he tried to sell me a baiting program for an initial fee of $1,000.00 and a $365 yearly maintenance/monitoring fee every year after. The seller was going to purchase this bait program at his expense, but when the Orkin person told the seller it wasn't transferable (and until I actually bought the house it couldn't be in my name), the seller agreed to give me a $1,000 credit or check at closing to get a preventive treatment as I saw fit, even though there was no active infestation.

The Orkin person seemed to be a little miffed that he didn't make a sale. He told me that I could get a copy of the inspection in a few days. Well, when I called a few days later, I was told that he was on vacation for the next week and a half, and that he had the inspection report in his computer. I called back a few weeks later and left a message a few times about needing a copy of the report, as it was needed at the request of the VA (as it was a VA loan). The Orkin person refused to give me a copy of the inspection, stating that he didn't know it was for a VA loan.

Oh really, I thought a pest inspection should be done correctly and thoroughly no matter what kind of loan it was. I mean, it's none of his business how I'm financing the house. Well, without this inspection report, the VA could only rely on what the initial home/pest inspector had in his report.

She contacted Orkin at least a dozen times to pay her bill and she kept being told to "call back" or there was "no one here who can accept your payment", etc. After relocating to Florida, she received a notice stating the bill had been turned over to collections (4 months after she had moved to FL).

I have dealt with this company for two years. They do not keep their schedule appointments. The technicians will state they provided service and never showed or no one was at home. I have been billed for services that were not rendered. My termite inspection was a joke. I paid over 3000 for termite treatment and the tech that was "certified" was unable to determine if the damage I found after the treatment was new or old. He needed to contact the manager who never kept his schedule appointment with me. My home has yet to be inspected properly. I have asked for the documentation that is on file with branch 732. This branch needs serious attention. My suggestion would be for you to terminate everyone and hire qualified personnel. I currently have a bill of 230.14 for services that were never provided. This has to be the worst branch/company I have ever dealt with in my entire life. You received over 4000 from me for horrible service. I don't know if I still have termites after you treated the entire house because no one in your company is qualified or able to keep their schedule appointments. If I had a dollar for every time I waited on one of your techs to show up, I would probably recover the money I've paid you. I plan to complain to the BBB.

Every year a bill arrives and it states that a "minimal" increase is necessary to maintain Orkin's service to the house. Could you please explain in detail what this "minimal" increase entails? It seems strange that there should be a need to increase the cost of the service every year.

Please advise. With the present national economy, it would seem that charges would be reduced. A short inspection is all that appears to be done, once a year.

To my surprise, the attic was NOT EVEN cleaned, but they sprayed the TAP materials all over the existing droppings and nesting debris. I've called Orkin to explain the situation, the sale person came out and ADMITTED THAT THEY DID A POOR JOB and would tell his service manager. Orkin is an AWFUL company. We had a flea infestation because of our dog. We brought our dog to the vet and spent 300$ treating her and another 300$ having orkin come out and bomb our house. The guy told us "They will be all gone... I've never had to come back and re-do a house".... Well yeah 3 weeks later we have a new infestation. Now that is after cleaning our house every day. We brought our dog back to the vet and paid more money to have her re-treated. They said there were only dead fleas on her so she didn't bring them into the house. The vet said orkin should have mentioned the fact that that any eggs would have hatched 14 days later and they should have come back out to re-bomb. I have been on the phone with them all day and they keep telling me they can't get back out to the house.

I have a 10 week old and a 4 year old. I can't stay in my house and have lost wages from missing work to go home and help my husband deal with this. I am disgusted with their lack of customer service and compassion. I find it VERY hard to believe that they couldn't free up a service person for a 45 minute job to make good on the job I paid them for. The service manager has been no help whatsoever either. I have called him 3 times today. Asking if he himself had time to go out. He keeps saying he'll get back to me and he doesn't I also asked that if they couldn't get out to me today at the very least could they get to me in the morning tomorrow.... He flat out just said no. No caring at all. They are a horrible company.

Orkin has been a disaster! I terminated my service months ago, which was confirmed by the manager in the Memphis office yesterday. I just received a call to schedule my next service. The man that called did not have a clue as to what was going on. He could not understand my comments that I no longer had service with them and became angry and offensive. This is the culmination to my dissatisfaction since beginning the year-long contract. The first serviceman dismissed my complaint of mice. Another serviceman confirmed mice and committed to scheduling me for a call-back, which never happened. The rat never disappeared and the stickie pads never worked, not to mention the traps that had peanut butter in them 3 months later. A serviceman scheduled and never came out. The man that called today charged my account several weeks earlier, after committing to honor a call-back at no charge. The list goes on and on. Now, I can’t get rid of the pests in more ways than one!

Daniel stated there is no paper work or a scheduled appointment for me today, which I stated was unacceptable and could not determine who the technician that came to my house was. She did attempt to call the technician in the field, but no one could come out until between 2-4 pm which was not convenient for me because Saturday is my only day off and I had plans.

They have very poor customer service. The technician did not even leave a business card or contact, if someone had contacted me directly and told me I needed to be home to sign the contract. I would have met him here at the house, or they could have faxed or mailed me the contract. This was the reason we cancelled our contract with them before because of poor customer service. This is not a great beginning of a new customer relationship. I am so disappointed, and yes, I will shop around for better service. I choose them because I trusted that I would be given 100% customer service, not the run around and a no-show to start the day.

I spoke with a woman last year and she explained to me that if I cannot pay, then they would send me a financial hardship form and they will work with me so that I can be able to pay for my bill. I told her that it was not even the case. It's the fact that they raised my rate without prior notification. I specifically told her in the future to notify me so I can prepare myself and save extra money to pay them. We fast forward to today and this is the 2nd time they increased the rate to my business and this is the 2nd time they didn't notify me. I am elfin upset.

There is in fact a note on the bottom of the bill stating, "You may notice a small increase in your service charge. This will enable us to continue to provide protection against common pests and if needed, additional treatments are free of charge. We appreciate your business and thank you for choosing Orkin." Why couldn't they send me that note on the earlier bill is all I'm saying. No economical damages nor hardships. No physical damages to my home, but there are some mental and health damages they are causing me. I have bad anxiety and because of them not notifying me, I had to calm myself before I exploded into a panic coma. No worries: I have pills for such events like this. Still, there is no excuse.

I waited a week, and nothing happened. No change. I called them to come back out. They came 2 weeks later and things were the same. My husband asked if maybe there was a hole or some way the mice could be getting in. The serviceman claimed to have looked and found no hole. The only thing found in the paper glue traps were spiders.

My husband went to Kmart, bought snap traps, put peanut butter, and placed them all over in the basement. The next day we caught 2 mice and then another one that evening. I called Orkin back again and told them I was not happy with the service I had paid for $139.00. So they said they would come back out again. Well, yeah, they came back out and did nothing to help us.

When they came back out, all they set was more glue traps and sprayed something all over my house on the inside? (I have 4 dogs, and not once did they warn me about a spray.) Then the next day, I was charged $89.00 for a service call on my master card? So I called them again and complained. It did no good because the lady on the phone could care less. I told her I wanted out of their contract because it was no good. I was told I signed a contract until next February 2012 with them and I was going to be charged $89.00 every other month even if I choose to not use the service (they still will charge me).

We hired Orkin to get rid of a bed bug infestation about 10 months ago. The technician that did the estimate and the service told us this would take an entire work day to treat. We paid for the service and the same technician came out after a few cancellations. When the technician came out with another technician they seemed surprised and thank us for actually having everything ready for the service as requested. The entire service was rushed and completed in just over two hours. One technician had to meet his girlfriend and the other had to take his dog to the vet.

They told us when we signed the receipt that they would be back for a follow-up in two weeks to get any eggs that may have been missed and hatched. We called that same night because when we went to put the bunk beds back in the children's rooms literally hundreds of them came out of the wood. They took a few days to respond and make it back out.

The same original technician came out and said he did not see anything and he did a 10 minute once over and left. The problem persisted and they never showed up for even the follow-up. We called them again a few months ago because the house is completely infested still. They came out and did another 15 minute quick spray and out the door they went. I ended up treating the house my self and spent a lot more money we did not have and even went to the extent of throwing out the bunk beds and children's dressers to get rid of the pests without any luck.

Our children are now sleeping on mattresses on the floor because we cannot afford new beds. We have been calling for several months and they are denying any owed services even though they never got rid of the problem. We never had a service contract; we only paid for them to get rid of the bed bugs. They seem to be one of the many companies that is receiving payment for bed bug service and cannot complete the service. We are a low income family living in a Habitat Home and what we paid for this incomplete service is more than or mortgage payment. The people of Jax need to avoid this company and being ripped off.

Words cannot describe my disappointment about Orkin’s services. They have terrible service and they charge you up-front. They are landlords and tenants’ worst nightmare! We had need-bugs in my unit, mostly coming from my next door neighbor. They came at least 5-6 times to treat and there was no improvement. Not only we had to leave the house every time, I got tired of cleaning/washing afterwards. Exactly couple of days after they treat few bugs would show up. This made no sense. How would they survive the treatment in just a few days? It seems to me that they are there just to make money, not to improve the situation.

Lastly, they offered heat treatment and they would guarantee if all three units were treated; both sides of the tenant who was having problems. I was provided with one pager heat treatment instructions and wanted to understand details. I wasn’t going to agree until I understood what was involved. I tried to get information in their website, but no detailed explanation was available. The treatment was already scheduled and I wanted to talk to someone; phone number for Sydney was provided.

I have called first thing in the morning from work. The next morning, I found voicemail left after 5:00 pm to let me know to expect a call around 6:00 pm. I have asked my husband to call in the evening and he was able to speak with Sydney. He was assured that only plants, pets, candles, waxed items, lipsticks, and such should be removed which was already on the one pager given to us. We were concerned about TVs and electronics. Even though they were on the not to be removed list, my husband asked again and was told not to worry. I have practically boxed everything I can think of, from shoes that may be glued on, magnets etc.

We were given a timeframe of 8:30 am-4:30 pm. I left the house and asked the manager that if they see anything that they think may need to be removed, please do so. I was told that we can be back by 6:30 pm. I got a call from the manager that their truck broke down so they started late and give more time. I have arrived at 9:30 pm and found a note at my door to call the manager. He wanted to alert me before I walked in that their employees emptied my drawers. When I walked in, I was in shock. I started to shake when I saw my belongings in the dresser dumped on my bed. It was like a walking into a house that was robbed. I could not believe it. They have no respect for people.

When the manager found out, he asked them why they did such a thing. The reasoning was if they did not do so, they were not going to be responsible if we complain again that the bugs were back! Why was this not disclosed in the instructions? I would have happily packed them. I asked if these people have homes, wives, and sisters. I was going crazy knowing that they touched all my belongings as if the heat was not going to go in if they let the drawers open. They have invaded our privacy. They did the same thing in my son’s room. And at the top of it, his brand new LCD TV was tilted.

Obviously, the stand must be acrylic and it does not stay upright now. Whose fault is that? If we were not assured by their employees and the instructions were given, we would have removed the TV as well. I do not believe they will ever be used by our landlord anymore. They are anything but reliable and trusted and they have terrible service.

I became an Orkin customer only a month ago and it wasn't long after that I realized how bad they were. I signed up for a year service and was told that I would pay for May and get the next month, a follow-up, free. Well, that was not the case. They have come out three times and I still have yet to see improvement. It actually seemed that it has been worse since. Well, the real story is when I called because I was charged for the follow-up. I called and finally got transferred to Joe **, the service manager. At the very beginning of the call, it was apparent that he was rude. He was starting off by trying to cut me off when I was talking. Now keep in mind I am mad about this and he is the service manger, but never once did I use vulgar language or demean him.

So after I finally told him the whole story, I told him that I wanted my money back and he said, "we're not going to do that". I was appalled. So then he proceeded to tell me that the CSR who had set up my service never told me that the follow-up was free, he was calling me a liar! I asked him if he knew that the customer was always right, but I guess he never heard that. Well after so many times of him being rude and unhelpful, I asked for a number to someone else above him. He said okay and I kept asking him questions about his "customer service" that I guess he didn't like, so he told me to shut up! I wish I was kidding. I turned the phone on speaker so my husband could hear and then he said, "ma'am, I was just trying to give you a number" and hung up.

I have been in customer service for years and I have never heard of treating someone like this. I called back and started talking to someone else telling them what had just happened, when he called me on the other line. I answered and he asked if I would like to start over, so my husband took the phone and talked. He seemed much calmer, I guess realizing what he had just done so the matter got solved and he did give me his boss's number, Chris **. I called Chris the next day to tell him how horrified I was with the customer service from a manager that should have better training in dealing with angry customers. Well he never once said that Joe should not have done that, he apologized but it seemed halfhearted. Then he tried to sell me another contract, so I guess they didn't really care about anything I was saying.

Chris did tell me that my account had it listed for 6 months of payment, which means that I was right about the free month otherwise, it would have been seven months. So after all this headache, I will never use them again ever! I also plan on telling everyone I know not to use them, unless you like to be called a liar and told to shut up!

After discovering termites in the roof of my property I made an appointment for Mel **, an Orkin technician, to come to my duplex property and inspect the damage and give me an estimate. My tenants waited five hours for him to appear and he never showed up. When I called Orkin, they had no record of the booking, none of the three telephone numbers I provided them with, no record of the address and no knowledge of Mel **. They said they would call me back within 48 hours and did not do so. What is wrong with these people? They advertise on TV that they are reliable and they are anything but.

I found some termites in one of the walls in my house and called Orkin to do an inspection. I showed the inspector, Tri, the area where termites were found and wanted him to provide a price to fix the problem. After his so-called inspection, he said fumigation will fix the problem and based on the house size, it will cost $2300. I agreed to it and signed the contract to have them start the treatment.

A month after the fumigation, I found out that the termites were still there at the same wall where I showed the inspector and called Orkin about this issue. They sent Kevin, a technician, out to look at it; and he saw that there were still termites there. So Kevin sprayed some termite-killing chemical in to that wall. I was not satisfied that all the termites were gone because the fumigation did not work.

A few days after Kevin came, Orkin sent out Tri, the first inspector. He told me that these termites are Subterranean termites and fumigation will not work, so that to fix the problem I will need to sign a different contract for treatment on this type of termite, which will cost another $2000. The inspector never said anything about multiple type of termites or multiple contracts involved. I was led to believe that the price I pay was to fix the problem.

I called for what I believed to be mice in my newly built home. I thought $250 was extremely high for a condo treatment, but Patti at call center assured me that this would be a 3 month service and that traps would be removed as needed. Orkin rep Lou came on Dec. 24, unprepared for visit (no ladder for examination of attic where I reported mice to the call center) and had to leave to go pick up a ladder. He said I did, indeed, have mice and set traps. He said Patti at call center was mistaken that this was a onetime only visit. (Who, then, removes traps?) Because it was an Orkin error (I have notes on what I was told when I called for service), he would honor the 3 month service and trap removal. Lou was to return in 2-3 weeks for trap check and, if needed, removal.

We scheduled an appointment. I left work for 3 hours to accommodate appointment, but he never showed up. I called Orkin office and Terry told me that this was "unusual for Lou" and said they would call me back. Lou called back saying he was sick. Rescheduled appointment and, once again, Lou did not show up. "Truck problems" was second excuse. No phone call either time from Orkin and costing me a total of about 7-10 hours of work time.

When I reached Lou, he did come out and checked traps, saying he found no evidence of mice, although one trap "might" have been nibbled at. He was to return in early February for trap check and, possibly removal and said he would call me to set up appointment. In early April, I called and reported that traps are still set up and that no one ever followed up in February. Call center contacted Florence office, who wanted to send Lou back out. No way. I am not at all interested in playing the waiting game once again, nor do I trust that Lou is actually examining for mice. I have since learned that a good inspection would have included the exterior of the house, which was not done.

I spent $250 for lousy and incomplete service. I am not at all impressed with Orkin. I did not receive pest control but was certainly taken to the cleaners. No physical damage, just a very sour taste in my mouth and less money in my pocket. Traps remain in my attic for what I seriously doubt was mice to begin with.

Upon purchase of my property in 2004, an Orkin termite bond was transferred from the prior owner. After purchase I did not receive a copy of my contract. I only received a letter of welcome. Reviewing my bill for service this year, I became aware that Orkin dropped the $1,000,000 Repair Warranty and left the Retreat Warranty only and did not notify me. Orkin acknowledged this was customary and had no obligation to notify the new homeowner. Since 2004, they have inspected the property annually with no sign of termites. However, they will not reinstate the Repair Warranty without first completing a new inspection and re-treatment at my cost.

Discussion with Orkin regional sales manager proved unsuccessful as they threatened to cancel my contract and return all funds I have paid in since 2004. The sales manager advised they are a for-profit company and will not alter or deviate from their procedures even though they admitted no notice was sent at that time. Presently, I am without a Repair Warranty as my homeowner's policy does not cover infestation should it occur. Orkin should reinstate the Repair Warranty without cost.

When the man came, he never did a perimeter check outside of my house. He went into the basement, only in the laundry room and bathroom and not the rest of the basement. He saw I already had poison, pest strips, wooden mouse traps. All he did was to remove my mouse strips and put new ones down, removed my poison boxes and put his own down.

He did nothing new to help me! Then $175 was charged to my credit card and he said they would "see me every other month for $100". I told him no, I didn't want any further service and he said I was signed up for a year and if I didn't like the $175 charge, I was lucky. Normally it was $250 for a 1-time charge! I called the office the next day and was told the same thing! "Sorry Charlie". The $175 charge stands. They already took it out of my bank and they "cancelled any further visits" so I should be happy! Orkin did not do anything at my home that I had not already done for myself! It's not fair. Orkin came to my house over the course of a year and never did get rid of the very small insect problem I had in the 2nd story of my home. After every treatment, I would call and report that there had been no change, but was still billed for each call. When my year ran out with them, I called to cancel and the supervisor asked why. I told him that my problem had never been taken care of and he told me I was just too picky. I bought some Home Defense spray and used it along the outside foundation of my house and that took care of the problem in one treatment and Orkin couldn't take care of it with several "professional" treatments over the course of a year.

When I called Orkin back to lodge a comment/complaint about the fact that I had gotten rid of the problem myself, the lady on the phone asked me what I wanted her to about it. I asked if they had any kind of warranty/guarantee policy and she wouldn't answer the question. She just told me that the supervisor and technician had both been fired--yeah, right. I have completed my contractual agreement with Orkin on service at my residence. I called the local office in Little Rock, AR and requested termination of service at my residence on or about October 26, 2009. They advised that I need to send them a letter to request termination of service. I asked why do I need to send a letter when I no longer have a contract for service. Isn't my phone call good enough for termination of service? Of course, it wasn't according to their protocol. Three days later the exterminator came to my residence when my wife was home. My wife was getting ready to leave and asked if he needed to get in the house. My wife was not aware that I cancelled service with Orkin. He stated that he didn't need to do anything inside the house.

Yet they are willing to charge the full cost of the service as stated on the bill ($78.48). I called the main headquarters the same evening of their so-called service in my residence. I was informed by the representative that she can see that I had cancellation/termination pending and that they should have not come to my home to conduct service. She advised that I call the local office. I did and they said they will look into it and find out why they still conducted service. To date, there’s no response back from the local office. On December 14, 2009, I happen to be leaving my house from lunch and the service rep was driving the sub-division. I waved him down and explained to him why I was billed for work he had done on the outside of my residence. His explanation was that they do not always come in the house to spray for pests since all pests come from the outside. (No kidding?). However, as mentioned earlier, they still charge for full service.

As I looked at my new bill with no date, they charged $78.48 for the balance forward (effective date was on 10/29/2009, which was three days after I requested termination of service). They also charged for the following month. The bill shows a date of December and the scheduled service was 12/25/2009 and the charge was $72.00 and requested total amount due was $156.96. If you do not pay close attention to the fine print (checks received after 11/25/2009 are not reflected on this statement), payment is due when service is rendered. You may be obligated to have service conducted at your home. Nice little trick to get you to pay for service before it’s ever been provided after your contract had expired.

On 06/13/08, we contracted with Orkin Pest Control in San Diego to treat our house for termites. The cost was $3,705. We didn't have enough to pay upfront, so we were told we had to finance it through Rollins Acceptance Co. (Rollins is the parent company of Orkin.) We arranged to pay 12 monthly installments of $359.23, with 22% interest. We paid monthly and then on 02/20/09, I called for a payoff quote. I was told we still owed $2,645.21. I wrote a check for that amount and paid our bill to Rollins in full. I never received a payoff statement from them, but the check was cashed by them on 03/03/09. I have the bank statement and a copy of the canceled check. We received no further bills. Then 7 months later, on 11/02/09, we got a bill from Rollins for $131.58. I called the number on the bill and left a message saying there had been a mistake, we'd paid off our debt to them early. Rollins reps began calling our house repeatedly, harassing our children, leaving messages threatening to ruin our credit. Whenever we called back, we got recordings.

Finally on 10/22/09 I reached Julie at Rollins. She confirmed that we'd owed $2,645.21 and that they had received our check in that amount. Then, she said that was a "special offer" that expired Feb. 28 (She did not explain why it took them 11 days to cash my check). I objected, saying the amount for the termite service had been set in advance. Then, she said the check was short $10. She said we could settle by paying $50. I found my bank statement and told her it was not short $10, and that we would pay them nothing. Then, she said I must have written the amount down wrong, even though minutes earlier she'd confirmed the amount owed. I told her we owed them nothing now and would not pay. On 11/02/09 a different woman from Rollins left an anonymous message on my husband's office phone, saying "I have a very important decision to make this afternoon about your property at (our home address)."

We both tried to call back but only got recordings. It sounds like they are threatening to put a lien on our home. I checked our original contract with Rollins, and there is no penalty for early payoff of the debt, nor is there anything in the fine print allowing them to put a lien on your property over a disputed bill. A couple days later we got another letter from Rollins, labeled "Delinquent Notice" saying we now owe $133.66. This fictional debt keeps rising and they are threatening to ruin our credit and take our home. If we pay it we'll never get a refund, and what's to stop them from continuing to bill us for random amounts we don't owe?

I signed and he folded the paper and handed it. I didn't read it. I thought it was what he said. It turned out it was for a bunch of money. After a year of once a month spraying for roaches, we still had the problem. I fired them and called Cook’s. They sent a man out and I signed his contract for less than half of what Orkin charged. So, I paid the $99 start up fee plus $70 for the pest service, and when it came time to pay the $270, they had turned it over to the collection department. I have phone calls every day and when I answered the call, no one would say anything. So I would call them just to be put on hold for over 20 minutes, then they hung up. I called the Orkin head office in Georgia and told them of my problem with the Fort Walton office and they seem as confused as I of why it was turned into the collection office. I sent the payment in and I still get the calls, and the pest tech called because he was unaware of my cancellation. It seems that the branch office in Fort Walton did not tell him. I have been a customer of Orkin for over 5 years now. For the last year, every time it came time to schedule an appointment, there would be problems. We would call and ask for the service person to please call us to reschedule and never receive a phone call. But he would sure show up on the original scheduled day and spray on the outside and leave a note for indoor service. Well in our instance, that indoor service is much more needed since we live in a row home. With the outdoor service, we are basically only getting the front and the back sprayed. But then we would have to make another phone call (since our first call was never returned) to get them to come out again. Yes, this is the service that they'll provide if needed, but that seems excessive. And as a customer, it's frustrating not to receive any return phone calls.

This is not even where our problems start. We have had several instances where we have had flying ants and regular crawling ants. They were coming in at night and infesting the entire kitchen area along with some other areas of the house. I am talking about hundreds of ants a time. We were told to spray Windex to slow them down. We did this and only cleaned them up for the day. Since it was so late in the evening, we would be told that we will receive a phone call to schedule service. 3 or 4 days would go by and we would not hear anything. We would have to call again. One of the service people came out and asked my husband where they were coming in at. They were told they were coming in the left side of the backdoor. He sprayed exactly where he was told. A few nights later, they were back and they were coming in the right side of the door (why wasn't the whole area sprayed the first time?).

We understand that things are not always going to work 100%. But the amount of ants that came into the house was unacceptable. And furthermore, the flying ants were not dying. They were only active at night. We thought we had gone around and cleaned them all up. The next morning, they had gathered under a light and it had appeared as if they were dead. Because of work and rushing to get out of the house, they were not cleaned up. But sure enough, night time came around and they were crawling and flying again. Any other insects that we saw in the house would be found dead or close to dying, but not the ants. In dealing with this situation, once again we did not receive return phone calls and had very poor service. Here we go again making phone calls.

In being a customer for so long, I had a credit card on file at one point and would be charged every 3 months. When it expired, I gave them another one to put on file. It worked for the first 2 services I believe and after that, I was sending a check in every month. They told me they never got a new card number. Well, I was not going to give my number out again. In being very unhappy with Orkin, I did not pay the bill in hopes to get someone's attention. All we wanted was our issues solved and to receive a phone call (with a message). But in not paying, I would receive anywhere from 3 to 7 phone calls in 1 day according to our caller ID and of course, no messages.

I wrote a letter stating all of these and that I wanted to make my payment. I wanted someone to call my cell phone. Instead of being called, the phone calls stopped and in about 1 week, I received a letter that I was sent to collections. I then also called the regional office late in the evening the day I received the letter. I explained everything to the person who answered the phone. All I wanted at this point is for someone from the regional office to give me a call. I never received that call. I have made my payment. Technically, I did owe the money even though it was for poor service. The ants are gone for now (until next spring that is). But I will be sure to find a different company to deal with.

Original scope of service: Initial termite inspection and treatment 09/2004; renewable for up to five (5) years. Years 2 through 6 to consist of quarterly visits to monitor/service termite bait traps at $396 per year. I renewed the monitoring service for four (4) years.

On June 12th of this year, I received a certified letter from Orkin, claiming to have been on-site to perform their quarterly service on 06/08. I am retired and was home that day and no visit was made. They simply mailed it in.

This was an insult. I checked my records, and over the last 4 years, Orkin has missed 4 of the 16 quarterly inspections. That is a failure rate of 25%, equivalent to one year of service. I have repeatedly tried to get Orkin to acknowledge their 'failure to perform' and in short, I am getting the run-around. Promises to call back that are not fulfilled and endless excuses are the norm. Closer examination reveals inferior service in addition to the failure to keep their service commitments. Orkin management seems to think that if they stall long enough, I'll get tired of the process and let it go.

Orkin erroneously claims to have serviced my residence on 06/08 and is unable or unwilling to prove otherwise. Orkin has missed 3 similar service intervals. Orkin has been avoiding any reasonable attempt to rectify this situation as I am now entering month three (3) with this problem. I'm convinced Orkin is in material breach of contract for failure to perform.

What I seek from Orkin is a refund of the equivalent of one year's service. This is in reference to the 4 missed quarterly appointments that Orkin billed me for at $396 per year. For the above reasons, I simply want a refund of $396 for the services not rendered. I do not want Orkin to have the opportunity to do any "make-goods". They've had that chance.

Let's say you are on a every other month contract. We are allotted 25 minutes, that's it, at your home. If you are a monthly, then you will see an Orkin guy for 15 minutes. They practice techniques and have little to say if your bug problem still continues. Orkin raised prices. Well with what we were trained to say and to do, it's not worth your money. Let's say you decide to skip a service or cancel. An Orkin tech will have a percentage number of cancels he is allotted. If it goes over 2%, then Orkin views it as the tech is not selling the need for Orkin and is fired. That's why there are many phone calls. Orkin hires to fire people. Orkin has a very high turn over rate. Just look at how many techs have serviced your home. Also we are trained to aggravate a potential problem. She said they would inspect inside and out (they did), go under the house and inspect (they didn't). During the first visit, they were all nice and agreeable.

They sprayed, I paid, and they left. After that initial visit, I was always sent the invoice bill first, and then the tech would call the next day to schedule the next service. There was one time when I wasn't able to be there for the service, so the tech said he would come and spray outside, and suggested we do the "give your home key to tech" service. I don't think so! Who would do something that dumb! Besides, if I had done that, he would have been met at the front door by my dog. I said no to that idea. He sprayed outside and said he would be back in a couple of days to do the inside. All along, I asked and asked that they call me before coming over, so I could put my dog outside, so he could spray, but he never did. I waited out on my porch for over an hour, but no one showed up.

I called the office and the tech said he came over and knocked, but no one answered the door! They never totally got rid of any of my pests. On the last visit, the tech had me pay him after he was finished. Why do they send me an invoice bill if I am going to pay the tech? What a waste of paper. Anyway, I noticed the bill was more than the contract stated it would be. I called the office and asked why my bill went up, and the woman said that was the corporate office decision to raise prices. I asked why I didn’t get a notice. All she said was she didn't know why I didn't get a notice. I asked when my year contract was up, and she said it was up two months earlier on the prior visit. I was so mad. Why didn't they send me a letter to let me know of this? I know they want to do crappy service and still make you pay for it. Never again, Orkin. You suck! I still have pests, and I am out hundreds of dollars. It cost about $82 each time they came to the house to spray.

I have been an Orkin customer for almost 20 years. Tommy, our favorite tech for many years, always did a thorough job controlling our roaches and fleas. Two years ago, Orkin sent us a new tech who would pretend to spray the exterior of the house - then come inside and spray. One month, he allegedly sprayed only the outside of the house and said he would come back to spray inside the next month - after my grandchildren had moved out. He didn't come back, but we were still charged for full service. Now I received a bill for service on Feb. 18, 2009, when no one from Orkin has been here since December 2008! Roaches are crawling all over the house, but I don't care. I trusted Orkin for so many years, but they have let me down for the last time. All of you who are complaining about ORKIN need to move to WA and ask for Matt as their service rep. When my husband first came into contact with them at a trade show, I was skeptical and I hated having to sign a contract for a year. However, we had some problems that needed to be addressed. Rats in the attic was my biggest concern. Matt took some samples and said he looked them up. He called with some great suggestions as to how to adjust the environment so we didn't invite them in. We got rid of the bird feeders. kept all the food picked in the garden, dismantled the fountain. He stopped by often to empty and replace the traps. After a month, we opted to live trap and kill them ourselves because we could do that daily. Once they were gone, all 14 of them, Matt donned biohazard gear and inspected for me. He did that every visit for a year, assuring me they had not returned. Ants were in the barn and we needed to get a grip on those. That's hubbies space and he's happy with the results. Fleas are our latest concern. We tried all the natural stuff but nothing works like poison (ha ha). I hate it in the house, but it works and we don't seem to have obvious reactions. Fleas are currently under control. Yippee. With the poor economy, we had to look at dropping service, opted to keep it for one more year and will reevaluate in May. Heeding the warnings of others, I will call Terminix if I suspect termite problems though.

I was having minor construction work on my side porch & the construction crew discovered a carpenter ant infestation. I called Orkin to inquire how it was possible that I could have this problem when they had been spraying for pests for several years. They informed me that my current contract didnt cover carpenter ants (?) That would be an extra $150. I agreed since construction had been halted until the ants were taken care of. On the day of the appointment I waited all day but the technician came when I was picking my children up from school. He left no note or invoice that he had been there. The next day I called another local company, they came immediately, sprayed something that was connected to their truck (not just a can) & thousands of ants came pouring out of the porch. It was like a black cloud. This local company felt so bad that I had been duped by Orkin that he didnt even charge me. Orkin has taken me to a collections agency because I refuse to pay for a service I dont believe was rendered & I didnt give them a chance to send out a service manager to take care of the problem.

I have had a service agreement for pest control w/Orkin since 10/07. The agreement was for "Must call first - Saturdays only" (as I work during the week and needed to be home to provide access as there is a locked fence around my yard) every other month which is clearly noted on each ticket generated by Orkin. I have had nothing but problems with this service beginning in 3/08 as I have been billed for services that supposedly were provided during the day on a weekday when no one was home to provide access. I have called Orkin several times to complain and they have promised follow-up calls to schedule Saturday visits to provide the services that I had already been charged for but had not received. On 10/7/08 I once again noted a charge to my credit card for services not provided. I called Orkin and told them I had been through this with them too many times and wanted the charge removed and to cancel their service. The woman I spoke with in the National Office assured me the charge would be taken care of and she would have someone from the Orlando office follow up with me on my complaints. She also stated that it was noted in their records that I had several service issues documented. I spoke with Tracy from the Orlando office on 10/22 to explain once again that I wanted the charge credited back to my credit card and to cancel service. Tracy informed me that the charge was valid and that she had a service ticket from 9/08 with my signature on it. Since I knew no one had been to my house in September I immediately requested she fax a copy to me. The service ticket was dated 9/24, time noted was 3:50pm and someone signed my name under customer's signature. I called Tracy and explained that someone had forged my signature as I was working until 4:30pm that day; and told her I was absolutely livid that someone had forged my name. Tracy said she was going to refer this to her manager. On 11/23 I called Orkin once again and requested copies of all service tickets for my residence. I discovered 2 more dates during the day during the week with a forged signature, as well as 2 unsigned tickets again in the middle of the day on a weekday. In fact I only have copies of 3 tickets which I was home, on a Saturday, and signed for at the beginning of this contract. I received a call from John Gay, service manager, from Orkin who said he was willing to waive the fee for the 9/24 service call that never took place. Furthermore he could not understand why the alleged service calls took place during the week when the tickets clearly state "Must call first - Saturdays only". He also stated he could not understand why anyone would forge my signature as signatures mean nothing to them as many times customers are not home when service is provided. I explained that while signatures may mean nothing to him they certainly meant something to me when mine has been forged as this is absolutely illegal. Not only have they taken money from me for services not provided but have crossed an even more frightening line into forgery! When he continued to discuss that signatures were not needed as customers sign a contract initially I reminded him that when I spoke with Tracy she was validating the charge based on a service ticket with what she assumed was my signature. Therefore, if they are able to validate a charge based on a customer signature then certainly the customer can invalidate a charge which lacks a signature; and certainly invalidate a charge for blatant forgery. I also asked him if service was provided at a home with the resident there did the technician get the customers signature? He said yes. I told him my point was that I requested Saturdays only so that I could be there to provide access; in which case I would sign the service ticket. The first three visits were scheduled for Saturdays and my signature is on these tickets. I asked him to compare these signatures (as well as my signature on the contract) with these forged signatures. He said he would discuss this situation with his regional manager. I told him that I do plan on seeking legal advice as I am extremely upset with this situation.

I was mistaken. I called to cancel the service(after the last one) and they told me I still had 3 more treatments totaling over 200 hundred dollars. I was livid.

I tried to explain what happened to the manager and he said there was nothing I could do about it anymore because they had my signature on file so I couldn't fight it. He also stated that it did not matter what the employee said to me because the contract stated other wise. That's fine but when not willing to work something out with the CUSTOMER over what untrained employee did thats just bad business. He also stated that the contract stated in black in white what the service was for, I told him it was fine print and long and he said it wasn't and sent me a copy of the contract which showed what the service was for in very, very fine print.

They were so unwilling to help. I called the company later that day to see if they could help with something and the employee hung up on me before I was done. The manager also continued to interrupt me and let me get my story out, like he didn't even want to hear it. We hired Orkin to treat termites. They charged us $2390.00 to spray under the house and put bait monitors around the house. For two years they ocassionally checked the baiting and always said that since there was no activity there were no termites.

Less than four years later, we are replacing the floor in 2/3 of our house. The carpenter could easily put his pocket knife half way into the joists and flip it out to expose the live termites. The carpenter pointed out that there are no trenches around ANYTHING that goes from dirt to floor. David from Orkin came out and crawled under the house when only 1/2 of the flooring was demolished and said the damage was from water and that there were no termites. We pulled one out of the joist under which he entered.

Plus, when our contract was up, I called Orkin twice to have them pull up the bait monitors; they are still there. NOW they find it important to remove them. David was so very condescending to us. At first the lawyer said that the contract we signed wouldn't hold up with a jury because Orkin obviously didn't do their job. He has since said that the contract is binding. If you don't sign their contract, they won't do the job. This is a standard procedure for businesses.

We had to replace 2/3 of our floor, and we had to take a loan out for $30,000. Our family of eight was displaced from our home for more than a month.

Orkin was contacted to take care of a moth problem in my home, as well as wasp/bee problem outside and spray for ants around exterior of my home.

On May 2, 2008, the initial visit, they came to service my home. Their solution to the moth problem inside the house was to leave one SMALL glue trap inside the cabinet under the kitchen sink and two SMALL glue traps on the garage floor where the garage door opens. Apparently, they sparayed the perimeter of the house to repel any ants and sprayed for wasps/bees.

There were never any moths in the SMALL glue traps that they left. When I would see a moth in the kitchen, I would grab the one glue trap left under the kitchen sink and attempt to catch the moth in the glue trap. This is the only way I could eliminate a moth if I saw one. The moth would never go into the glue trap on its own.

About two weeks later I called and told them I still had moths and that their SMALL glue traps were of no help. They said they would send a service man out; however, they could not give me a time when he would arrive--therefore, an all day sit and wait thing.

When the service man did come, all he did was replace the one SMALL glue trap under the kitchen sink with two larger sized glue traps.

My complaint is: I paid $294.25 for a service that is not working when it comes to my moth problem. When the service man was here and replaced the small glue trap with two larger ones, he commented that this was all they had, they were out of the larger glue traps. He took the small ones back with him. (I would have thought Orkin would have put glue traps in each room in the upstairs of the house where moths had been spotted.)

And..the service person who came back to replace the SMALL glue traps for the moths with larger ones informed us that the small ones were not the ones that should have been put in the house, that they aren't normally used in that manner and he didn't know why they were put in.

On June 6, 2008, I called to complain about the amount I had paid for such little service and spoke with a person named Jeff. He told me that I had purchased a one time service that only carried a 30 day guarantee and my service time was up. He said Orkin recommends treatment every other month at a fee of $76. Their yearly fee is $700. I feel their charges are exorbitant and that they charge a high initial fee in case people do not continue their bi-monthly service.

I am very dissatisfied and, in my opinion, Orkin does not provide quality service for the fees they charge.

Unfortunately, it wasn't until after Orkin came to my home did I find a previous receipt from service I had from Terminix in prior years and later contacted them to find out their current service costs. Terminix provides about double the service for almost half the cost.

I will never deal with Orkin again.

On May 15, 2008 I contacted Orkin Pest Control via of telephone, talked with the Manager, Steve. At this time I shared with him my disappointment and verification that the monthly service to the above address had been neglected. I wished to terminate the contract. Fact finding mission: On May 13th it was discovered that the phone line was not working at the above address and it was found to be the result of a mouse, chewing the phone cord. Also it was apparent that traps for bugs and spiders were not being changed regularly. Dodson Pest Control (a competitor) was contacted.

As a result of Dodson's initial inspection (on May 15th) it was found that the residence was infected with spiders (3 varieties, silverfish, mice, and other typical household bugs). A minimum of 3 to 4 months of treatment would be needed to just rid the home of spiders--primary focus of treatment at this time.

Having been appalled and felt like being taken advantage, I called Orkin (same day). Steve was more than willing to go to residence on May 15 to begin treatment and offered to continue doing so at no additional cost to me. I declined Steve's offer. Later I found where Orkin had been at the residence on May 20th to treat and a bill left for the monthly fee of $36. I called Orkin again and told them I was not going to pay for the April or May treatment and from the May 15th call (with Steve) and final call on May 22 or 23rd (Trina) it was agreed that I did not owe Orkin anything.

Would I recommend Orkin to anyone in the future? NO! It is evident that unless in residence at the property year round when service can be monitored, Orkin can not be trusted to deliver. Sad, thinking back, Orkin as contacted in the Spring of 2003 and it was felt that Orkin was appropriate for the job, we were confident and agreed to the terms worked out for monthly treatment, etc. Neighbors who assist family in overseeing residence have informed me several times that the service technician would go into house, spray around front door and leave within minutes upon arrival, indicating to me that service was being neglected.

It was apparent that traps for bugs not changed regularly. Lessons learned the hard and costly way. Thus, business taken elsewhere--initial treatment $125 plus a monthly service fee. Something I personally felt shouldn't have been had Orkin been doing what was expected, contracted and required.

The purpose of this letter is to notify ORKIN in writing the termination of contract and to express the disappointment in service and billing. Payment for April and May 2008 should be void, account closed (if not all ready done so). Would six months of reimbursement of services be helpful? YES, money would be used to pay Dodson. On a positive note, when talking with Steve and Trina both have been most professional. But does not solve problem at hand. I had contacted Orkin in the past questioning the service and this last event was the icing on the cake.

We had a conract with orkin to provide services at our residence in Hales Corners,WI to come every other month. We were told that we could cancel our services anytime as long as we gave a 30 day notice prior to our next scheduled service. I called just prior to our next scheduled service in 1/7/08 and told them that I wanted to cancel our services. They informed me that I could cancel at that time, but would be responsible for the next schedules service on 1/7/08. (Which I understood).

We sold our house and bought a new home on 1/25/08. Much to my surprise, I recieved a charge on my credit card for a so called service that was provided on 3/28/08. I immediatly called Orkin and spoke with the so called supervisor named Gary. I explained that I had cancelled all of my services with them back in January.

I told his that I found it hard to belive that any services were provided to me, considering that I didn't even own that house anymore. Every time that we had a scheduled service, I had to be home to let someone into my house, as well as sign an invoice. So, as you can see that this service was NOT provided, yet they charged me for it. I was told by Gary that my credit card would be credited for the amount of $84.80, and that my services were going to be cancelled on 5/1/08. I had this conversation with gary on 4/25/08.

I called my credit card company to see if my account was credited on 5/5/08, and nothing was done. I called Orkin again on 5/5/08 to see why nothing was done and spoke to a woman by the name of Beverly who assured me that she was going to cancel my account and credit me th amount of $84.80 and also send me a screen print off showing me that my services were cancelled.

On 5/8/08, I checked my credit card co. angain and STILL no credit from Orkin. I called Orkin again and spoke with Gary again who said that he would have Beverly do it first thing in the morning. I feel like I keep going round and round with this compancy and NO ONE is doing what they say they are going to do. I am very frusterated! Still no credit.I don't know what else to do at this point. I will NEVER recommend this company to ANYONE else for the hassle that they have shown.

I ended up having to pay the amount charged to my credit card for the amount of $84.80 to avoid any finance charges because Okin did not credit my account as they said they were going to do.

In October of 2007 I called Orkin to get rid of mice problems in my house. I have a two family house and the tenant and I were and are still seeing mice. I would like to contact another pest control service because I don't feel that this company is getting rid of the problem. Orkin comes to my house every quarter since I made the contract and I've had to call them for extra treatments because the visits don't seem to catch or kill the mice. I called to cancel the contract, because I truly don't see what I'm paying for and the receptionist want's to change fee's for breaking the contract. My contract says I should see results therefore they're breaking their agreement.

I constantly clean up mice droppings and I'm still see ants etc. in my basement. I want this problem resolved before my six month old grandbaby starts crawling around the house.

We entered into a 12-month contract with bi-monthly visits from Orkin. We paid for both inside and outside service. There was NO inside service for 6 months or 3 services. Although, we did not receive the complete service we had expected, we paid twice during the six month period. We complained to the company and refused to pay the third payment. Instead of working with us to resolve the issues with the missed services, the company sent us a delinquent payment letter. I called again, and they said we had to initiate the visits ourselves, by making appointments to get caught up with the services missed. They also said that we needed to pay when the next service was rendered.

I'll be glad when the Orkin contract is finished in July. I'll make sure I let others know how bad the service was. What happened to "the customer is always right" or at least "let us work with the customer to resolve issues"? I'll be looking for another exterminator real soon, and next time I be sure to check with Better Business Bureau and other Consumer Complaint agencies (looking for good as well as bad experiences) before making a decision.
