NuvoH2O products
NuvoH2O has two water softeners: one for small homes and one for large homes. Its Taste System improves the taste of household water.
- NuvoH2O Home Softener System: The NuvoH2O Home Softener System reduces the amount of calcium and magnesium in your home’s water. This also lowers the water’s pH. The product costs $649 and works well for homes with one to three residents. It comes with one cartridge, a mounting back plate and bracket, screws and a housing wrench.
- NuvoH2O Manor Softener System + Taste System: This product combo costs $1,499 and is good for people who want to soften their water and make it taste better. It works well for homes with four to eight residents. The product comes with a softener cartridge and carbon filter. Together, these products remove metal ions and chlorine, which softens the water and improves the taste. Like the NuvoH2O Home Softener System, the product comes with one cartridge, a mounting back plate and brackets, screws and a housing wrench

I cannot talk about the quality of the filters, because I never received the filter and remain out of pocket. I hope nothing goes wrong with your order, because it is a nightmare contacting the company. I paid for expedited shipping, received an email confirming order stating I would receive a tracking email. Off to a reassuring start. Days pass and no tracking email. Silence and now it's past expected delivery date. I reply to the order confirmation email. That email address does not work. Login to the Nuvo website and find the contact email address and resend the email asking for an update on the delivery. That email bounces back saying address not found.
I resort to calling, waiting over 30 mins in a queue, finally get through to someone after issues with the phone menu system that send you in a loop. They apologize, find my order and promise to send a tracking email. I wait a few more days, and silence. I painfully wait another 30 minutes in the queue to talk to someone because this is the only way to reach the company with no working emails for the public. I go through the process again. By this time my expedited water filter delivery is irrelevant because the boiler install has been completed, minus the filter. We don't have the money to get the engineer out a second time to do the install. Still no filter, a ton of wasted time and frustration. They have my money and I have nothing. Not a great experience. No follow up.

Just sent the following message to NuVo: We have been a customer of NuVo for many years. Each time we replace our cartridge we get blue water for a period of a couple days and during that time it gradually disappears. And everything is fine. Since a recent cartridge replacement (about 7-10 days ago) we have experienced blue water but this time it continues to be a light to medium blue and has a sickening taste to the point of having to throw up. Today we decided to bypass the Nuvo system altogether, we then ran our water for a considerable amount of time. The water is clear and has no bad taste or upset stomach. We will continue to bypass the system until such time we find out what the problem is. Our question is: Could this last cartridge be faulty in any way?

We had a softener system installed in January and needed replacement filters. We ordered them online and they never arrived (UPS lost them, not Nuvo's fault per se). What is Nuvo's fault is their complete lack of support. They've got wonderful hold music. I know because I was on hold for help for over six hours. I sent a message through my account portal two weeks ago that's still unanswered. They won't call you back if you leave your number. If they won't answer a routine message, would they respond to UPS's claim department? I had no idea.
Well, if you call their sales line you get a live person. If you're really lucky you'll talk to a jerk named Brandon who will gaslight you about how busy they are, then when you tell him you don't buy it he will snap at you that he's trying to keep the call professional and he'll hang up if you call him a liar again. Thanks, Nuvo! Wanna spend money on a home filtration system? I heartily recommend anything OTHER than a Nuvo.

I purchased a NuvoHh2O dual whole home system. After my first filter change at 6 months the filter became contaminated with bacteria at about 2 months. My system was installed without the shield for UV rays and without a bypass. The system is vulnerable to bacteria growth. This is well documented online. I advise caution. Bacteria and mold are risks with this system.

I bought a new home in 2020 and requested a water softener be included. I expected the old fashioned salt system. They put in the Nuvo system instead. It is a large house and I am a small woman and I cannot change out the tanks myself. So I had to just turn it off at the bypass. Is there any service in the St Augustine area that would handle changing the tanks for me on a regular basis? Without that, this product is worthless. And I cannot replace it with a traditional system because my builder did not account for a drain/sink for that purpose. Frustrating! If I could find a service to do this, I might actually enjoy this system.

Updated on 12/01/2025: Well I was told after 7 tries and long waits at customer service at NUVO that I would be called today by a "manager". The NUVO H2O product that was recommended, ordered and installed by plumber Drew Hartmann Plumbing of Jacksonville FL (904)813-4000 ... has now made the new toilets orange- which means the washing machine will also have orange in it as will the shower.
The plumber doesn't respond and neither does the NUVO customer service line. So here during the holidays I have stained toilets, can't use washer and wary of hair changing to orange. My next step leaves me no other recourse except small claims of Nassau County FL. One or the other could have resolved this by simple communication and put in system that works. I am also on well. I paid $2325.00 overall for the plumber, that product and install on other. The plumber just supplied a generic total and will not respond when a requested for and itemized invoice to share with NUVO. So disgusted with this.
Updated on 11/30/2025: The lady via phone- in Customer Service - said a manager will be calling Monday/tomorrow to troubleshoot. She was also reassuring that the issue will not be ignored. Giving them the benefit of trying to remedy.

Do not buy this product. It is extremely difficult to replace the filters, not worth it and after this I'm not going to use it anymore. Total waste of money due to poor customer service. I was on the phone for over an hour with Alex and he kept changing his answers, putting me on hold, giggling to co workers and in the end was of no help. It was clear the customer service has very little idea of what to do. Plumbers push this system because you really need a plumber to come back each time and help with replacements. It's extremely messy too. Get anything else but this, I wish I did.

I bought a Nuvo system twelve years ago. Since that time, I have had sporadic discolored grey water. After seven years of this, the water turned pitch black. Plumbers couldn’t find any cause, so they replaced the water heater. That didn’t help. Since then, the black water continues on no regular basis. This is city water. The city has tried to help, but their water is clear and tests are fine. I have added a water purifier, but that hasn’t helped. The water samples show high levels of copper and not safe to drink.
The plumbers have spent the last several months trying to pinpoint the problem. After cutting into the pipes, they find the pipes are clear before entering the filter and black when they pass through the filter. I now need to replace all of my interior plumbing and fixtures, plus new appliances. The black inside the pipes cannot be removed. The plumbers have used bleach, vinegar and various cleaning agents. It’s impossible to remove. My health issues are numerous. Don’t buy this system. Nuvo does not take responsibility and attempts to blow this off. Consulting an attorney!

I called to consult with customer service and she just verified I had the best 3 filters for my situation and that's the best it's going to do. I could buy new expensive filters but my 6 week old filters still look brand new. She even tried to tell me my ppm were very good. 190 ppm is not very good! It's still ruining things like swamp cooler pumps and shower heads.

Pain in the butt to change filter, made tougher by the fact they kept sending gaskets that did not fit. Last time I tried to change filter it leaked like a sieve. Took my plumber 45 minutes to get it watertight. Went to change again today - finally a gasket that fits. Guess what - leaks exactly the same way in the same spot. Tearing it out next week. Lousy design, quality and customer service.

Called to report that my product was leaking after install, sent photos and was told that it would be replaced. I followed up the next day and was told that it wouldn't be replaced or refunded. That it was my plumber's fault. After a few minutes on the phone, I understood that the young man on the line was being disingenuous. I ultimately just called my credit card and had charge removed. During that time, the company randomly sent out a product that I didn't even order (had two cylinders as opposed to the more expensive item that I ordered with three cylinders). Just an overall terrible experience on a product that I paid a premium for compared to similar products from iSpring and Pro Aqua for one-third the price. I wouldn't recommend.

I have been using the NuvoH2O cartridge for my house for the last 3 years. I judge the effectiveness of this product by seeing showerhead calcium build up or dissipate over time. I live in an area that has medium hard water. Manufacturer state the filter lasts 6 months. I use them for 9 to 12 months. Curious, I cut open a used cartridge and found black jelly sludge (about 1 tsp). I don't think this is a concern. This is the result of Vit C reacting with the calcium in the water. What was a bit disappointing is that the cartridge have at least 6 inches of vit C crystals left in the cartridge. Make me wonder why and if cartridges can last a lot longer than 6 months.

The system seems to do the job okay. The problem comes in changing cartridges. The directions do not include an important step, which is to line up a plastic knob that comes down with a hole in the cartridge. You can do that reliably when holding the cartridge. But you can't hold the cartridge with your fingers anymore while putting the housing back on. I suspect this is why it's not included in the directions. It's not doable. So, you always have to take chance on breaking the cartridge, which they then consider the consumer's fault. I asked for reliable directions that won't result in a cartridge breaking in future and they won't provide that. Their solution was "get a plumber to do it." Not really financially practical for something that has to happen twice a year.

We purchased the nuvo H2O softener (manor system) to eliminate brine disposal into our septic tank and drainfield. We've run the softener for a year, and noticed an improvement in our wash water and soap usage. We've done a few water tests for Sodium, Calcium, Magnesium, Potassium, Carbonate, Bicarbonate, Chloride, Iron, Sulfate, Nitrate, Electrical Conductivity, Total Dissolved Solids, pH, Total Hardness (Lime), Total Alkalinity & Total Phosphorus. The softener doesn't affect the underlying chemistry, except for a nominal reduction in pH (from 7.9 to 7.8). Changing the cartridge is simple, but the full housing is fairly heavy and contains a lot of water, so it is good to have a tub to catch any spilled water.

I have had this system installed for about 4 years now (2016 and paid the intial cost and have been receiving replacement cartridges sent every 6 months). Does it work? How do I know it is working? Many times throughout the 4 years I know when... It's more like I notice when it is not working. Everytime the cartridge runs out, my skin and scalp begin to itch...my wife's too. We both have diabetes which causes our skin to be sensitive to hard water (or alkaline) that is too hard. My itching skin and scalp tell me it's time to change out our NuvoH2O cartridge. Soft skin and no dandruff. Believe me, if it did not work, my wife would have told me so! I did not want to have to go to a softener and salt. I research and I also saw the negative "It does not work" and "My water is blue". I live in Bonne Terre MO and our water is very hard by the way!
Meanwhile, after I switch out the cartridge all is good I don't think about it anymore (it is easy, I don't have to turn off the water...just turn on the bypass and catch the dripping water in a bucket). We have nice lather with the shampoo and body wash too. Our laundry comes out clean fresh and smells great! Our dishwasher is protected and dishes come out spotless. Our bathtub is shiny. Our water heaters does not pop and crackle like it has BBs in it anymore (I drain it yearly and it does not have much calcium deposits).
I equate using the NuvoH2O is like adding vinegar to your water (it does not smell or anything btw). It's not exactly the same, but it will generally correct calcium build up. I noticed that I still have to soak the shower head in vinegar....but like I said above, we notice the difference in our skin and scalps more. NuvoH2O traps the minerals or "chelates" or coats the minerals in the water. It does not take the minerals out of the water or filter it at all. My wife still does not like the water taste. Again, it will not filter the water (I put a whole house $20 filter for sidiment before the NuvoH2O). Research it yourself. Another review forthcoming about the Zero water filter system...my water reads 280 from the tap. Zero takes it down to "zero" of course. I have been going through about 20 gallons before needing to change the filter (suppose to change when it reaches 006). Great water! Five stars!
I had to write this review because I felt the NuvoH2O company and the product was getting a bad rap. This system is not a cure all. If you really have that bad of water, maybe you should have tested your PH first. Our water is not perfect, but we are plenty happy with NuvoH2O doing the job. If your water is continously blue, you got a big buildup or your water company or well is pumping some very hard water. NuvoH2O is chelating your high mineral content water! Not filtering it! Don't blame the NuvoH20 for not providing a miracle. It does work...believe me! I don't write many reviews; however, I must say I have to endorse NuvoH20!

The filter do not last long. The 2nd set of filters only lasted 2 weeks. I tried to get help but was unsuccessful. The customer support agent was not helpful. She told me to buy a testing kit to see if my water ph level was high and if it was then the system was not good for my well water. Well the 1st set of filters lasted for 2 months. I tried explaining that to her and that I thought it was the filters they last sent that was the issue. No help at at all. I will be going back to United distributors salt system. They had better customer support. Both big deal if you have a good product but you treat your customers like losers that are lying.

After years of dealing with the extremely hard water in San Marcos, Texas, we finally decided to bite the bullet and install a water softener. I interviewed a local plumbing company who highly recommended the NuvoH20 system. $2000 later after the purchase price and installation we were ready to enjoy our investment. Couldn't have been more disappointed. This system did not change the quality of our water 1 iota. By the time we realized that it was not credible, the 3 month money back period was over. Since then, we have taken it off line and again noticed no difference in water quality. We will be installing a disposable, salt, water softener on sale at Sam's club. The only good thing appears to be that 90% of the plumbing has already been established. So, the man of the house likely can install it himself. This is good because we no longer trust plumbers. My advice is to stay as far away from this product as possible.

No plumbing company wanted to take responsibility for a product they didn’t know, so that was problematic. Then, I had to install it myself, and getting the right fittings to connect the filter and the softener was extremely difficult. The company really should provide the fittings to do this. I had so much trouble that the filter is just sitting in my garage now. I read that others felt the same. My sales rep acted like installing it was a joke...it wasn’t. I am a very handy person and have completely remodeled multiple homes, so I have some skills; it was simply difficult. Additionally, I have copper pipes and right after installing a new citrus cartridge for the softener, the water tastes horrible. It takes a few weeks for it to go away. Otherwise, I like the softener and how my skin does not feel slimy like traditional softeners.

Indeed, after installation of your iron filter, my water suddenly became more irony and grossly foul-smelling, more so than when I had no filter. Now, this next part isn't your fault, but the contractor who installed my initial filter was even more dishonest than NuvoH20. Is everyone in business in this country a cheating, lying good for nothing? I hate NuvoH20 and the contractor who installed it. We have not noticed any difference in the water quality since having the system installed. The claims made by our representative (Victor **) about the iron removal (95%) are not true. Very disappointed ion the results. I wish we had returned the system but we had other complications that caused the delay in removing the system.

We have exceptionally hard water. Everything would get a coat of minerals on the glasses and taste was horrible from the hardness. Although we must replace the filter every 3 months instead of 6 months, that is a small price for not having to haul salt or put up with having to clean my white sinks with strong acids to clean the brown circles. Thank you.
