My experience with National Floors Direct with my new wood and carpet flooring was spectacular. The sales rep was very informative and helpful and blew every estimate I received to that point out of the water. Be ready to make a deal when you have an appointment with National Floors Direct. The appointments for installation were convenient for me and completed in a timely manner. I love the high quality flooring I received and look forward to using National Floors Direct again for my next flooring project. I received a gift card for my time in posting this honest review and I highly recommend getting a free estimate for your next flooring project with them but schedule them last because they come prepared to make an amazing deal!

WE used NFD in the past and decided to have new flooring put in our house and to try them again. Initially everything was good however after five months in some areas the boards are actually separating to the point that there are 1/8" gaps between boards. After three weeks I was able to finally reach someone I was told that the warranty is three months and to bad I needed to call another installation company.

Problems began with our salesperson. The initial quote for one large room of laminate came in at $16,000 so they could show 60% off. Negotiate hard with quotes in hand from Lowe’s, Home Depot, etc. We finally agreed to $4,900 including moving furniture, trim work, etc. The flooring guys found issues with sub flooring in our 20 year old house and were told to up charge us. At this point, you have prepaid for everything as is their policy. The flooring job itself went well. There will be dust everywhere in your home... Just FYI and I would remove pets next time as it’s very noisy. That was to be expected. What wasn’t expected was that the trim work was awful!

We spent a week calling repeatedly for them to come finish the job. They were a no show twice for follow up appointments. Ten days later the subcontractor showed up alone shrugging about not providing proper trim for eight doorways causing tripping hazards. Luckily for us, we had made four trips to Lowe’s and Lumber Liquidators buying the proper transition pieces. They used our materials to fix many of the problems but leaving us to trim out the hearth ourselves saying “you’ll never see me again.”

The salesman knew they were not supplying proper materials to complete the job. When contacting him the first day he warned not to let their subcontractor leave, but what could we do? We escalated this to the senior managers who NEVER got back to us. I would never use these folks again. They say they have great subcontractors, but they don’t come prepared to finish the job. They said no one is ever happy with the trim. If you do use them, buy your own trim and have it ready. You will be filling nail holes, sanding and painting it yourselves so moving your furniture back into place may be impossible for them to do for you.

The installers moved all my furniture and put it all back where it belonged. They removed the old carpet and padding and cleaned up all the mess. They even swept the new carpet. Everyone from the sales rep, installers to the customer service rep have all been very helpful.

The gentlemen who came to install were on time, efficient, extremely polite and above all cleaned up after themselves! I would highly recommend this business to anyone looking for new flooring, great products, great prices and great customer service. The only complaint, which is MINOR was the estimator ran a little late arriving during the expected window but the company was considerate of my time and offered a discount for make up for my lost time that day. From when the salesman first came to my door greeted me with a smile and a handshake and made me feel extremely comfortable from the start. I was unsure of the product I wanted to go with and what I truly needed in the laminate flooring system we wanted. The salesman walked me through each flooring and what to look for and what actually may be harmful in a floor. He never once pressured me and let me take my time and discuss with my wife. Once we made our decision we called him back and sure enough he came right over with a smile and made both of us feel great. My father had National Floors Direct come out to his house to get an estimate on redoing the kitchen floor, 3 bedrooms, a hallway, two staircases, the front hall, living room and dining room. The sales rep came and she was very nice (of course she had to be to push the sale). She approved the colors and wrote them down. She even played, "We'll give you a veterans / first responders discount, we take good care of our veterans, if you have any issues call me...." Well he did have an issue, a very big issue .. left her a voicemail right away and no return call!!! They installed the wrong color rugs!!!

He called and no one returned his call. We had to call again and again. In the beginning we were told, since it was such a big job that it would take 3-4 days for the entire house. Which is fine, you want the work done right! They came out and did the kitchen floor in one day with no issues. Next day, two guys come out to install all the rugs. They do the entire house in 8 hrs. However, they put the upstairs rug color downstairs and vice versa!!!! The entire house was done in 2 days. It was a complete rush job. No wonder they screwed up!

There was furniture everywhere, both staircases were blocked off, the upstairs bathroom was filled with furniture (they didn't even ask if this was ok .. seeing as the downstairs bathroom was unavailable because it's being done over). There was no place to go in the house, they were set on ripping through the house in 1 day instead of the 3-4 we were told. They even managed to knock a brand new fire alarm off the ceiling and furniture was put back in the wrong places (yes, he paid for the furniture being moved too).

When we finally got ahold of someone at National Floors Direct to tell them the rugs went in the wrong places, the customer service manager Cliff was so incredibly rude!! Stating, "It's not our fault the rugs were put down wrong!!" We had a contract stating what color rugs went where. My father even said he'd just keep the upstairs rug, but they still refuse to fix the issue downstairs. He tried explaining it to the men who did the work, but they couldn’t help. You hire someone for a job, sign a contract with a company and sales rep that brags about customer service and treating first responders and Veterans well.. You'd think the contractors they hire could follow a simple contract / plan layout and put things in the correct places and be able to communicate clearly with the customer.. That was not the case with #NationalFloorsDirect.. #PoorCustomerService #NationalFloors. The worst customer service rep I have ever spoke to in my entire life ...

Sales rep came to my house with 1 sample board...the best and most expensive of course. When asked if he had anything less expensive he brought in 1 crap sample board. He was very aggressive. Fake calls to supervisor multiple time to try and do better. Raced me through the signing after spending 2.5 hrs at my house. Never explained the cancellation notice however he spent a lot of time saying if I waived my right to cancel he could have the product installed almost immediately. I thought this was shady because the product I finally decided on he said was back ordered for 2 weeks. He came on a Saturday and I decided to cancel on Monday morning so I could get some other quotes.

Tonya the sales manager kept trying to get me to have them come back out after I told her several times I want to cancel. I then asked to not cash my check.. She said the rep already cashed it on Saturday. This was a lie because he left my house at 7PM on Saturday. I had to cancel my check. I asked for something in writing to cancel the agreement and I was told they will not cancel on the phone. I needed to snail mail the cancellation request to them and oh yea they had to have it in their hand by 12 noon the following day!!!! This was absolutely ridiculous. I paid 26.00 to next day air it and get a signature (best money I ever spent). I will tell EVERYONE I know what a shady business this is. My project was given to a local design center and they came in well below NFD price!! Do not use National Floors Direct!!!! BEWARE!

The installers were great but what a complete nightmare it was dealing with any manager, sales person, or customer service representative from this company. To start, I placed an order for carpet and kitchen flooring. I was aggressively sold to and told to place an immediate deposit of $1,000. After the "3 day cancellation period" I was told the deposit check bounced. (This was impossible.) The sales manager, Tonya, told me she was looking into the issue but wanted to send another representative to my house to collect another check. I told her this was not going to happen so I escalated it to her regional manager, Larry **. Larry told me he had no direct contact at their bank, People's Bank, but he was checking his email "every 15 minutes" for updates.

He and Tonya were then attempting to set up a three way phone call with us and my bank. When I questioned Larry on how strange it was that it took so long to hear back from his bank, his response was that "it was Saturday, so there were probably not many people at People's Bank Corporate." Since this entire scenario got very sketchy and uncomfortable to me, I asked about cancelling everything. Larry specifically told me I was being "unreasonable" and "overreacting" because bank issues happen "all the time." He was honestly the absolute worst part of the NFD experience, just due to his misogynistic attitude.

The problem bank issues reportedly happen all the time was also concerning but after a pointless 20 minute phone call, where he said this was a waste of his time (he said he "could be spending his time better") I disconnected. On Monday, he called and left me a voice mail saying the check in fact did not bounce, as I was claiming all along. Fast forward a few weeks to my Monday install date. I was called in the morning and told we would get an installation between 9-12. At 11:50, the installers showed up. They put in a fantastic carpet and I have no complaints with them. We explained the kitchen flooring was going to get done the next day, and they said they wish NFD gave them that job, so it could have been one big job.

The next day, I get a call saying our installers will be there between 1-4pm. I have a new born, cat, and a dog that we didn't want around the sawing for kitchen floors so I took them to my parents house. 3:30 rolls around and I call NFD and they tell me the installers are not coming because they got hung up on another job. I wish someone was going to call earlier but I was able to stay at my parents another night so we made it work. The next day, the installers show up and were working late (I was still not at the house but my husband was) and the installers said the flooring product boxes looked like they were hit by a forklift but the warehouse manager from NFD said the product would be fine.

Almost halfway through the job, the banged up boxes have product that is not quality or able to be used so they call NFD to get replacement product. Away from the house, I call NFD myself to explain what I was told and get an estimated reschedule date. I learned the product I wanted needed to be ordered so we got rescheduled for 2 weeks later. To get the floors done in the kitchen, we needed to remove our washing machine and fridge. I explained to NFD that I could not return to the home because of no washer or fridge (new born needs a fridge and the cat has medical needs that require a fridge to store medicine). Rene from NFD customer service said she understood I was in a tough situation but "the contract says to plan for unexpected issues." Rene suggested I move the fridge to the living room. The living room had the brand new carpet installed and I did not want to roll a fridge onto that so that was not an option.

She said other people put their fridges in other rooms when jobs take longer and with my house layout, that is not an option. Exhausted and frustrated, I asked if anything could be done and at least get some type of discount, but I learned that was impossible and I paid full price for a near month long job. I am getting incredibly exhausted at this point because I was out of my home for 3 days and just wanted this nightmare to be over, thankful for having my family close by to not be homeless. A few weeks later, I learned my lesson and called the Saturday the product was supposed to come in to confirm we are still on to finish this on Monday. We were, and on Monday, the installers put in a great floor. So again, overall, the installers were great, but the company, especially regional sales manager Larry **, are complete nightmares to work with and I would never in my right mind recommend anyone, ever, work with this company.

The guys HAVE to get the work done as fast as they possibly can. The rugs they put in were cut short so that they are shedding because the ends are not properly tucked in at the edges. The stairway rug was cut so that there are seams on every tread.

The vinyl kitchen floor transition from floor to rug was done with a piece of vinyl that they tried to glue down with small dots of glue every 12 inches, between two raised areas under the vinyl. The glue sank between the two raised areas and never touched the floor to glue the transition piece down and it was sliding all over and leaving glue smears on my floor and rug!!! I spent a whole afternoon fixing it when all they should have done in the first place was pull off the two raised areas and then put enough glue. AND the transition piece was cut right in the middle of the floor where the highest foot traffic is.

When I called customer service to complain they wanted pictures. When I told them I had to fix it and pictures would only show MY work they said "Well you didn't HAVE to fix it."... What jerks. The sales rep that I worked with was very nice. He was a funny guy, and he definitely knew what he was talking about. We had hardwood flooring installed in some rooms since we had some wood floor in some of my rooms so I wanted to match that. I also put in carpeting in the toy room and in the guest room because I figured it would be a little more comfortable for my grandchildren. I'm very happy with the flooring. It gives such a nice finished look.

I am very disappointed with the quality of work of the carpet installer and the customer service department especially Cliff the customer service manager. I had carpet put in a bedroom covering hardwood flooring. There was a quarter round molding up against the baseboard which my salesman said would be removed. It was not. Just days before the carpet was installed we had a painter in to paint the walls and baseboard. He purposely did not paint the quarter round as it was to be removed. Well it was not. The carpet installer actually left unpainted quarter round molding and butt the carpet up to it. It looks very unprofessional. I am not sure how someone could do such a shabby job and feel good about leaving it that way.

I called customer service and they said to send 5 pictures showing the issue, so I did. No one even called to say they received the pictures and when I called a week later to follow up a woman told me she would call me back in 30 minutes, which she never did. I called again later that night and spoke with another person who seemed to be reading notes that someone made on my account basically saying there is nothing they can do. I asked to speak to a manager and they told me to call back tomorrow and speak to Cliff.

I called today and spoke with Cliff. He did absolutely nothing to help me but was more concerned that if he did, that it would be an admission that they did something incorrectly. His resolution for me was to put tape on the carpet and paint the quarter round. WOW! If you look up quarter round on the internet it is used with hardwood and laminate flooring. I am no installation Guru but that should be removed in order to get the carpet snug to the baseboard, right?

I always thought it was the job of customer service and/or a manager to try to do SOMETHING, ANYTHING to rectify things when a customer is dissatisfied. He offered nothing, did nothing and left me feeling very cheated after spending thousands of dollars with this company. What ever happened to "the customer is always right? Any carpet installer will tell you that you don't leave quarter round down when installing a carpet. Do not use this company! They will not admit if they do something wrong, they will not do anything to attempt to make the customer happy and were very short and matter of fact with me.

WARNING: it should have been a red flag that you can't pay by credit card. Probably because they do such a horrible job everyone would dispute the charges. I see that now in hindsight. Attempted to call numbers found on the internet to speak to someone in corporate and all number either were not in service or did nothing after you dial them. These are the CEO, CFO and COO of National Floors direct below. I wonder if they know who they have representing them as "customer service agents" and "customer service managers?"

    CEO: Aaron Rosenberg
    CFO: Daniel Rosenberg

    COO: Anthony Lewis

If they do, they should be ashamed to even have that name on the department....customer service...... because they do NOTHING for their customers. If you don't want to have to come out and fix a poorly executed job, then hire better installers and no offense, but please make sure they speak basic English, as it is very difficult to communicate with someone who doesn't and you are really never sure they understood what you said and at times you don't understand them. I will be contacting the better business bureau and filing a small claims suit to recover some portion of the money so I can have someone else fix the mess they made. BUYER BEWARE!

Customer service was extremely rude and then lied even more by customer service reps claiming to be managers. The company delivered the wrong product as I was leaving town for a funeral and I was forced to settle with a lower Quality Carpet when we agreed on the higher quality carpet. Worst, most dishonest company I've ever dealt with. This company is trash from top to bottom! Dishonest and dumb enough as to forgo commissions on a whole house so the rep could make a few hundred bucks on one small room. They switched the higher quality carpet for the lower quality carpet and the script of lies that customer service kept repeating was ridiculous. So they "won". They beat a consumer. I have had over a dozen phone conversations and each one ends the same way...they will look into and someone will call me back. And no one calls me back. Armando was the salesman. He was at my house 2 times. I explained, and he saw that I have 2 Golden Retriever dogs and wanted to avoid scratches and I am selling within the year. He sold me on the engineered hardwood by stating, "the only way the dogs will scratch this is if they dig constantly on it". First day of install that was all proven wrong, the installers were not supplied with enough material to finish the job so they had to schedule for another day to come back and finish, within the 4 days of them returning my floors were scratched by the dogs, there were also holes in the boards, not from digging.

I spoke with Armando the day I noticed the scratches, asked him why he would make such a statement about how the floors would not scratch and all he could say is "Chris, I don't know what to say to you, call customer service." With the floors not even done being installed, he didn't want to help. Just "call customer service." How can a salesperson get away with this and how many others has he lied to? I paid a lot of money for flooring that would last the year before I sell it with scratches. I have included some of the scratches and holes. I had sent the photos to Armando and he said it looks like "pitting", meanwhile the installers said it was common to find some holes. Again, the salesman should have better training than to sell a false bill of goods!

My experience with National Floors Direct was great in the beginning. Everybody was professional, nice, kind, neat and they did a good job. However, they forgot a couple of little threshold pieces that hold the carpet down. In the upstairs, I had a kitchen floor put in and there was one tile that was broken up so it was almost like a divot. They didn't put anything there to fix it and they just tiled right over it. It has that spongy feel like it's gonna break in.

I called National and they asked me to send pictures, which I did. I called them again and they said that I got the wrong department. I was transferred and I had to repeat myself again. I was told to wait for the repair team. But it's been three weeks. I called them again and said I wanted somebody out here to fix things. Finally, we got someone out. My husband is not happy with the way one of the thresholds is downstairs. They also said there was nothing wrong with the floor upstairs and my husband showed them exactly where it was. They asked me to re-send the pictures 'cause the person who was working on it didn't take any. It's been two weeks and the guy didn't say that he got no pictures. They weren't even looking at it.

Finally, I got through to a very nice woman who said she would look into it and would get back to me. I hung up with the idea but I got a call from someone the next day. He said they were sending someone out with the thresholds and to check out the floor. They came out when they said they were going to. One team did the thresholds and then about an hour later, another team came to do the floor. They were all saying there were spongy places on the floor but they couldn't find it. But it is right in the exact same spot. I also wonder why they wanted a picture of it because the defect cannot be seen. One could only feel it.

I was quite put off by National Floors Direct after that. Although I have nice floors and rugs, I'm not gonna jump on National Floors bandwagon to say they did well. The guys who came were great but there was a bad taste left in my mouth after. It was almost like, "We got your money. We're done in there" so it was really irritating. They could have brought the thresholds with them like they were supposed to or they could have sent someone right out with them if that might be in the area. It was literally a three-minute job. The customer service is also horrible. I tried all the numbers and I would be told I wasn't in the right department. They need to do something about their internal customer service because it's really bad.

Floor installation looks great! Fits nicely, matches existing wood better than I expected given that it's pre-finished vs finished in place. It was installed on very short notice, which was great. The flooring install was initially described as probably a one-day process for the whole thing, though one day might be tight for the stairs that we were doing. It ended up taking two full days for both the flooring and the stairs.

The sales process was ... well, I've never bought a used car from a salesman before, but that imagery comes to mind. They were very careful to follow the rules to a T, as far as I understand them; they didn't do anything wrong. And, per their guarantee, the price was ultimately the best quote that I got, though only by a thin margin and after significant negotiation; other contractors have since gotten in touch and expressed a willingness to negotiate a lower rate. The quote was under time pressure -- "you must sign right now, before I leave tonight" -- which was unexpected and which was not true of any of my other quotes.

Apparently I have the right to cancel an installation up to three days in advance, which I have to explicitly waive? I requested a quick installation and they suggested a date early enough that I would have to waive that right, but they didn't tell me any of that until after I had signed most of the paperwork. Additionally, they required a down payment plus payment in full at the start of work on the project, not after completion -- this was noted in the paperwork, but I mis-read it when I signed. I think there were other concerns but honestly I've lost track.

I've worked with a bunch of contractors at a bunch of projects in the past couple years at this location and have never had a sell nearly as hard as this one. Some folks might enjoy that aspect of negotiation -- good on them, probably helps them get a better deal, nothing wrong with it -- but I don't want buying a floor to be about the sales process, I want it to be about the floor.

    Advice to future buyers:

    - If they offer an "expires on the spot" deal, don't take it. Just flatly refuse. The price-matching guarantee sounds great, but it doesn't account for the fact that these prices can often be negotiated, sometimes significantly, after the quote is sent out.

    - Note that they require a bank check, NOT a regular check. This is a reasonable requirement on their part, but somehow it caught me off guard.

Most other places shied away from installing in the kitchen area as they would have to deal with joining the new floor up against the floor that was still installed underneath the cabinetry. Our sales rep guaranteed that they could do it and then the install team one-upped that by even pulling up the baseboards on our fixed to the floor kitchen island and installing there as well...I still don't understand how they managed that. Floor looks great and had wonderful sales and installation experience.

The second time they were hired to create a custom rug 7'7" round and bound and with a soft backing. I've had rugs like this made before by another company (who is not available in this area). My previous scatter rugs had a thin, rubber backing. Joe ** assured me this rug would also have some type of backing. My concern was the rough back of the carpet would damage my floors. Again, there was a mixup with the delivery and I had to wait longer. The carpet arrived with no backing at all. Since this was custom, I had no choice but to give the driver the cashier's check for the balance due.

This company has some very bad business practices. First of all, they do not take credit cards. The deposit must be paid by check and the final balance must be paid by cashier's check. There is no recourse for the customer because customer service will not call back. I left several messages for Joe ** and he never called back either. My fiancé and I were looking for carpeting for living room. After getting several quotes from local stores ranging from $2300 to $2500, and a piece of the carpet we wanted as a sample, we decided to try National Floors Direct. Their salesman, MIKE **, (remember that name) came out to give us the estimate and actually had the exact same carpet that we were looking for - New Bern by Shaw in a crimson color.

His first quote to us was for $3400 which supposedly included any discounts the company offered to vets and seniors. We showed him the written estimate for $2300 and he sent it to his boss who came back with an price of $1900 per their ad to beat competitors for exact same product. We told him we wanted to take a day or two to think about it (wouldn't hurt to talk to local people again) but he was insistent that we had to take it immediately or lose it. He went outside to give us time to discuss it privately. We decided that we would spend the extra $400 and stay local in case there were any problems and told Mike exactly that. Said good bye and we thought he left. Not even 5 minutes later he was knocking on our door again. He told us that he talked to his boss and he was okayed to offer us the carpet for $1700 if we signed right away. Unfortunately, we decided that $600 savings was worth the gamble. Gave 1/3 down in cash.

When the installers (who barely spoke English but supposedly were their employees) arrived they had carpet that was made by Shaw, was the same color we wanted, but was not the New Bern style. The carpet they had was called Dyersberg - a cheaper style. The whole time we talked to Mike we talked about the New Bern carpet which was written on the $2300 estimate. Mike LIED BY OMMISSION - he led us to believe that was the carpet we were ordering but when he wrote down the SKU number on the order it was for the cheaper carpet. I guess he thought we wouldn't notice.

We refused the carpeting and called Customer Service and spoke to the Manager - CLIFF **. After calling him 6 or 7 times in the last two days - he doesn't return calls like he says he will - we were told the best he could do was let us buy the carpet we actually wanted at the $1900 or lose our deposit. We agreed to that until he told us that we had to pay the total amount before they would even order the carpeting. Needless to say, we are not going to take the chance of throwing more money out the window. Now it looks like we're losing our deposit. If you don't care how a company treats potential customers, seniors and vets - then this is the company for you. STAY AWAY!

Initial installation date was scheduled for Saturday August 31, 2019 and was later changed to Wednesday August 28, 2019. My flooring order include the following:

    Materials:

    1. Mohawk Laminate flooring (Golden Blonde, 7.5” 33005-13) to cover Living Room, Family Room, one Bedroom and Hallway.
    2. 12 feet T-Molding
    3. 160 feet ¼ round molding

    4. 160 feet 5.25” White -printed wall base molding

    Installation services:

    1. Rip up and remove of existing carpet, laminate and padding.
    2. Removal of heavy furniture.

    3. Installation method is float for the laminate floor.

    Special instructions:

    1. Total cost = $4750, (personal check deposit on 8/10/2019: $800, $3950 certified check due at delivery).
    2. Customer to move small furniture and NFD to move large furniture.

    3. New 5.25” white prime base at all areas due and replace all base in hallway plus two approximately 10” pieces in kitchen area.

The installers arrived approximately 9:30am on August 28, 2019. There was installer team leader named Jose and two others. Jose show me the laminate and confirm the correct color and style and I showed him the areas to be installed. Then they began ripping out the carpets. As Jose was going over the paperwork with me, I discovered that they didn’t bring the 5.25” white base molding that stated on our contract. At first Jose said my order didn’t come with molding. After I showed him it was stated in multiple areas on the contract that 5.25” base molding is included in my order, he began to try to convince me not having the molding installed and later told me that if I want the molding my flooring will not be done today. He could easily get the base molding from local home improvement stores (e.g. Home Depot or Lowe's), but instead try to talk me out of not having the base molding.

I insisted that I need my base molding to install as promised on contract. In addition, Jose harassed me by demanding that I had to pay him in full, otherwise they would not continue to work. At this point, part of my existing flooring had already been ripped out and I have no choice to pay him the remaining balance with certified bank check. I verified with him that he will get the base molding before I handed him the check. Then he disappeared and never returned. Around 2:00pm I discovered that Jose refused to get the base molding and NFD will send someone back on Friday morning August 30, 2019. NFD customer service told me that I will be the first stop.

Besides the molding, the installer installed the laminate to cover only part of my entrance door to garage and there is an area with creaky flooring. The doorway does not only have two types of flooring material (my existing laminate and the new Mohawk laminate NFD installed), but also has different height levels. I contacted the customer service manager Cliff ** by phone and email. He ensured me that the installer will be at my house on Friday morning 8/30/19 to complete the flooring installation and address the issue that needed to be fixed. So, I arranged my work to be home on Friday to wait for the installer to return to complete the work.

On Friday morning, August 30, 2019 around 8:15am, I received a phone call from NFD that the installer will be coming to my house this morning (between 9am – noon) to finish the flooring installation. Then around 10am I received another call from a guy name Richard (from NFD) indicating that someone will be at my house in the afternoon. Richard indicated that the installer will have to finish another job before coming over to my house. Around 1pm, I contacted NFD customer service and Cliff to get an estimated arrival time for the installer, and they indicated that the installer will arrive around 3pm. 4pm comes, still no installer. The installer finally arrived around 4:50pm and the installer didn’t bring any base molding with him. He only showed up with quarter round (just like the installers from 8/28/2019). So, the installer called someone and they told him on the phone to get the molding.

I got on the phone with Cliff from NFD as well. On speaker phone, Cliff also told the installer to get the molding. The initial plan was going with the installer to get the molding. Since I had to pick up my daughters from camp and my husband need to stay with one of the installers who was working to remove the existing molding, the other installer had to go alone to get the molding. The installer did text me on the phone a picture of the molding and I told him on the text that I am good with the molding (which were less than 5.25”). The installer returned around 6:20pm with 10 strips of 10 feet base molding. I felt bad that they stay so late to work on my flooring, so I fed both installers dinner. They spent about 5 mins to eat and began to install the molding. They worked until 8:30pm and told me that it is getting late, they are tired and they will come back tomorrow (Saturday August 31, 2019) afternoon.

The installer indicated that they want to do the job right and plus they needed to get more materials tomorrow morning. It was Labor Day weekend and we were supposed to have plans on Saturday, but we arranged to be home at 4pm for the installer to come to finish the flooring installation. Now some areas of my floor have incomplete molding and small nail exposure, not to mention my house is a mess, but I was hopeful that the installer will return on Saturday, since he agreed that he will be back on Saturday around 4pm. I also discovered in next morning that the existing moldings with nails are still on my driveway, after complaints from my neighbors.

On Saturday, August 31, 2019 I received a phone call from the installer around noon. The installer asked me if I can get four strips of base molding. I was confused on why I need to get the base molding and my car will not be able to fit the 10 feet molding strip. So, I called Cliff from NFD. We were arguing to and forth on the phone between Cliff (NFD), the installer and the installer’s manager, I found out around 4pm that the installer will get the base molding and return on Monday (later changed to Tuesday at my request and plus Monday was holiday and the installer wouldn’t be working anyway).

Today is Tuesday, September 03, 2019, I called NFD around 8:15am looking for Cliff and was told he will not be in until 10am, so I called back around 10:45am. I was unable to talk to Cliff and he has not returned my emails. I spoke to Tom from NFD and he told me that he spoke to the installer and they are planning to come to my house to complete the flooring installation. I called again around 11am looking for Cliff and was on-hold twice for 15 mins each time, but still unable to talk to Cliff. Around 11:30am, I called back and spoke to Jennifer. I explained my situation to Jennifer. She promised me that she will talk to installation manager at the depot and will call me back in 5-10 mins. 12:30pm comes, no call from anyone from NFD, so I called back.

After two calls, no one picked up the phone, so I switch to use my home phone (instead of my cell) to call and this time someone named Kevin quickly picked up the phone. Kevin told me that the installer will not be coming (AGAIN) today, but will come on Friday instead. I told Kevin that this will be 3rd time I needed to arrange my work to be home and we need to get to the bottom of this. I really need help to get NFD liable to complete my flooring installation job. What can I do? Thanks.

I have used Empire prior and was very satisfied with their products and service. I had another estimate but National Floors direct beat the price so I mistakenly went with them. What a mistake, horrible customer service. One room was damaged in one spot and they told me it must have gotten wet and refused to fix it. It was under a bed in a guest room that we hadn't had company in. Then the other room was buckling and they told us it is the humidity in the room and again did nothing. The last straw was when the put carpet on the stairs we felt every nail, they did come back and hammer them down but wanted me to do it myself. I contacted a lawyer but decided it was not worth the aggravation. Lesson learned. I tried to compare reviews from both companies and didn't find much on them. I would anyone to avoid this horrible company!!! Marian

We had an initial visit with the representative who was very helpful and we were able to schedule an installation date 2 weeks in advance. On the day prior to the installation date, we got a call saying that the shipment was delayed even though a week before it was confirmed that they had the supplies ready. As a result, they rescheduled the date 5 days later (the earliest date) without compensating for the additional time/delay and also the cost of us not staying at our place due to pending repairs. Customer service experience was extremely poor and unprofessional. We were promised a compensative when we received the call but this was apparently non-existent or not available when we spoke to customer service. Will not recommend again.

Definitely not happy with the service I recently received from National Floors Direct. First of all, customer service called me the morning of installation at 7:30 and informed me that I needed to print paperwork. It seems the office forgot to give the installers the necessary paperwork and if I did not print it, they would have to cancel the installation. This would be unfortunate since I took the day off in order to get the installation done. Since I did not have a printer, I had to rush in my car, find a Staples, print the forms, and rush back to my house to meet the installers. I had wood vinyl flooring installed in my hallway. Right in the middle of the hallway was a piece that looked like it was cracked. I pointed this out to the installers but they stated that there was nothing they could do. It was how the piece came. I asked them if they could at least move that piece to the edge of the hallway so it was not that noticeable. They also stated that they could not do that.

I also had carpeting installed in my office. The office has a pump in it so as a result a piece of carpeting had to be cut out in order to fit around the pump. When I examined the new carpeting, the carpet around the pump was still the old carpet not the new one. At first the installed argued with me stating that he did switch the carpet. However, after closer examination he acknowledged that the piece there was still the old carpet. Eventually he changed it. Also, when the installers left I realized that there was a mess made both inside and outside the house. They never cleaned up the clippings and wood remnants. When I shared all these concerns with customer service they were rude and condescending. I am truly sorry I ever used National Floors Direct. In the past I used Empire and never encountered any problems. I should not have listened to their commercials.

Will not use this company again.. The carpet for my small living room they brought was too small. So instead of reordering the right size they pieced it in. It was so evident you could see the seam line right down the middle if my room. Looked horrible!! Also the installer was very nice but he could not understand English or speak it well at all. Very frustrating. Also the metal strip that went on the floor to end the rug was terrible. The nails kept lifting and as he was hammering and trying to stretch the rug to go under the strip the rug would rip and he would try to repair it with glue. Very dissatisfied!!

Worse experience ever! I had to fight for close to a month to get my floor and when it finally got installed it was not what I was shown in the samples. Every effort to try and work with customer service was absolutely terribly. I had to speak to 4 different managers to get the issue resolved which mean at least 20 calls! First off the salesman only showed me floors that were not in stock. So I could not get next day flooring. Then he showed me a sample of a dark grey floor which I chose. (Did not show me the website that had colors from white to brown.)

Second he measured but did not look or ask about sub flooring under rug. When the installers arrived and took my cash they ripped up the rug and informed me that I had asbestos tiles and they had to leave. They left me without a bedroom in my 1 bed bungalow and furniture all over the place. When I tried to resolve the issue with customer service I was given one excuse after another. I was told (and have email to prove it) that all tiles need to be removed and I need a letter from asbestos abatement company before floor could be installed. (This would cost at least 5,000. I did lots of research and spoke to other floor companies who informed me that the tiles SHOULD NOT be disturbed, but that tack strips should be removed.

I spoke again with Customer service who insisted that floor would not be installed until tiles were removed. I then spoke to another rep (and taped the conversation) she agreed that only tack strips, staples and loose tile - there were no lose tiles had to be removed and could be removed from a professional contractor with asbestos experience, after that is done send pictures and installation could be scheduled. I hired said contractor, completed the request then got the runaround. 1st call I sent a pic, then they wanted 5 pictures chest height, then after 3 calls and my contractor trying to speak to them I had to send 5 more picture. I was assured that the issue would be resolved that night. I kept calling every half hour and was told the woman was “painstakingly at her desk” working on it. Never got a response.

The phone service started to answer, next day the woman apparently was on vacation and the manager said my installation was denied. That I now needed to have the entire floor leveled. I was not allowed to talk to the installation department. After speaking to yet another manager I got him to listen as I explained that I had brown tiles around the edge it was not missing tiles. He reluctantly agreed to send installers out but said I might have to pay another 350. If installers are not satisfied in person. Finally get the installers and the floor is 3 different colors (not the natural variation that you get but actually different planks! (I had to have a floor so had them install it anyway.

I spoke with customer service again was rudely told it was my fault because the website picture is what I got- not the sample I was shown. And then he added, “You don’t go to a restaurant and eat the food then complain”. I was so disgusted and soo tired of fighting - I guess in the end the managers win because they bullied me so bad I had no fight in me. So know 2,000 later my cash savings gone; when I was told I could have gotten the floor for 1/2 that, I have a floor that looks ridiculous.

I be read all the bad reviews before posting and see that NFD has not once accepted responsibility for terrible service. I would of course appreciate a response and at least some empathy for what I’ve gone thru but don’t hold my breath. The company is toxic, I need peace. I learned a hard lesson never to trust a company that insist on cash upfront and hires subcontractors who owners don’t speak English and can not accept any responsibility. And it’s too bad because the installers were the only nice people I worked with. Wonder if the IRS actually audits this company!

    Hello Ms. Reed,

We apologize for the confusion but the additional costs assessed at the time of installation were due to unforeseen circumstances associated with bringing the substrate to standards that meet or exceed the requirements of the manufacturer of the flooring you purchased.

Such additional fees are not uncommon in homes like yours that are over 65 years old. The company was acting in good faith in assessing these minor fees in an effort to promote an installation that will meet the long-terms needs of you and your family.

We had laminate flooring installed in our mother’s home in the fall of 2018. Two months after installation the floor began to peak and bubble. It was repaired in December. Fast forward to July and the same thing is happening. I called and was informed the installation warranty is 90 days from date of install and ours had expired. They could not help. My husband took off the base molding to be sure there was enough of a gap to allow the floor to expand and contract. He found that in many locations the floor is butting up to the original molding and there were even some nails through to the sub floor. We paid over 6,000 dollars less then a year ago and now have to pay more money to get the floor repaired or replaced. I recommend people use a local contractor that will stand behind his/her work.

Horrible experience and customer service. Their sales representative rushed through the order and 2 stairs were left out. In a two-story home, the only carpet remaining is 2 small stairs in a corner. It looks terrible. In addition, he misrepresented what cleaning would be done before the new floor was put down. I shared my concern that there may be mold in the carpet or carpet pad. He stated that the installers have cleaning materials in their truck and would clean the floor if needed. Upon arrival, the installers informed me it was illegal for them to clean up mold. Luckily, there was nothing on the floor or the installation couldn't have taken place.

After the installation, I discovered a significant amount of cash disappeared during the installation day while I was upstairs and the stairs were being finished.

When I called to have the order fixed and inform them of the issues, I was told by their customer service that I should have gotten it in writing and they could do an inquiry but they expect it will be denied. They know their sales representatives will say anything to close the deal, yet they don't care! Plus they were not at all concerned about what happens in their customers' homes.

If this wasn't bad enough, on the afternoon that I posted my review, I received a phone call from the sales representative yelling at me and calling me a liar. When I hung up the phone, he immediately sent an insulting text message. I reported this to a customer service manager, and once again was met with complete complacency about their employee's behavior. They have no care or concern for how they treat people.

Ms. Schindler contacted NFD to express concerns about her flooring over a year the installation and outside of the time frame of her installation warranty. NFD opened a manufacturer's claim with Shaw, one of the largest and most highly-regarded manufacturers in the industry, on her behalf.

A certified independent flooring inspector hired by the manufacturer determined that the issues with Ms. Schindler's flooring were not product or installation related but were the result of significant locally caused damage to the floors.

The customer is not caring for the flooring properly and the flooring is not performing as it was designed to as a result. Detailed care instructions were left with the customer at the completion of the installation. The company cannot maintain the flooring for the customer; we can only install the product to the specification of the manufacturer, which we did in this case.

I was moving into a house and decided to have the flooring done in my dining room, living room (with two closets) and one bedroom (with one closet). I had quotes done and decided to go with National Floors Direct. My installation was scheduled for June 1st. They arrived and did all the major flooring, but did not do the closet in the bedroom. My fireplace in the living room also had a rounded edging along the floor as my fireplace is raised above floor level and could cause someone to trip. The wood was removed from the fireplace but not replaced. When brought to the installer’s attention, he said they only had the living room closets listed, and that they don’t normally put edging along the fireplace. They then had me call customer service. Customer service told me I needed to e-mail pictures before they would send someone back to do the work. I did as I was told and sent the pictures.

An installation manager called me the next day to tell me I was “absolutely right” about the fireplace/closet and they would send someone to finish the work. They then scheduled my next appointment for June 14th with a time window of 8:30 to 12:30. I accommodated this as I was moving in the next day. I work night shift 7P to 7:30A. I left work that morning and immediately went to the house to wait. I waited until 12:30 and when no one showed up, I called customer service again. This time, I spoke with a manager named Tom. He essentially told me that they were running behind and wouldn’t get to my house until 6PM. I explained my situation to him, and he told me there was nothing he could do. They would get there when they could. I feel that since my appointment was for mistakes they had made on their end, they should have tried to accommodate my schedule. That was not done.

They eventually showed up later that day around 5PM. They finished the closet that was not done, but then told me that they couldn’t do the edging around the fireplace as they don’t normally do that. I explained to them I was told by the installation manager and the man who did my consultation that it would be done. They had me call customer service again. I spoke to same manager I had spoken to previously (Tom), who told me they don’t do edging around the fireplaces. I patiently explained to him how I was told by two different people previously that it could be done and that if they don’t do that they shouldn’t have removed the wood that was there in the first place. After going back and forth with him, he told the installers to put the wood edging in. They did it in five minutes and left.

Overall, I was very frustrated with the breakdown in communication within this company. The fact that I had to call on multiple occasions to just get the job done, is so frustrating. I paid $6000 for all of this flooring, and you would think that price includes ease of mind that this company will do what you paid for. They won’t. They offered me nothing except excuses. I do not recommend this company to anyone. This has been the WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EXPERIENCE I have ever had. I would normally never file a complaint, but that is how dissatisfied I was with this experience. I hope no one ever has to go through the frustrating experience I went through.

Ms. Kemp's expectations are that the company should consistently include materials and labor above and beyond the express details of her written purchase order. This is unreasonable and why our company and any company have written agreements that expressly outline the details of the scope of work, which party is responsible for which work, etc., etc.

Ultimately, in the spirit of service, the company did provide services above and beyond the scope of the agreements. Unfortunately, despite delivering an incredible product with expert installation, and providing free services for which we did not contract, Ms. Kemp is still unsatisfied. Although 100% customer satisfaction is our goal, the company cannot always manage unrealistic expectations despite our best efforts.

When we sent a representative back to your home to work out the details of the purchase order, you attempted to deceptively include an entire room of additional flooring for the same price in the scope of work. Needless to say, the company cannot offer you any service at this point.

The original offer is no longer available and the extra free room is a non-starter.

Good morning: I'm writing to express how dissatisfied I was with my experience with this company. I met with a sales rep on 5/4 to get a quote. I explained that I needed to replace the carpet in my mother's mobile home while she was hospitalized. Because of the width of the mobile home he explained that he would need to special order the carpet and it would be in within 5 days and not the next day.

This was the day before her return home. The installer came and did not have enough to finish the job because the measurements were wrong. This meant the job would have to be finished after she came home, however they demanded that I pay for the complete job in cash. Because of her medical condition, we arranged for her to be out of the home while they were ripping up the old carpet for the second installation. I was told they would be there between 9-12. At 12:00 they called to say there was an issue and it would have to be rescheduled.

This happened again on the 3rd installation date. The carpet was finally installed on 6/3. A full month from the initial quote meeting. While there, I asked if they could fix the seam from the first installation and was told there was nothing that could be done. The heating vent that was covered on the first install remains covered. When I expressed my concerns to customer service I was told, "Sorry but there is nothing we can do." I told them I wanted the installer to come and take the carpet out and a full refund. I was told, "We don't refund."

Horrible company to work with. Carpeting for a bedroom was ordered and contract was signed. Less than 12 hours later, a phone call was made to the company to cancel the order because of an unforeseen issue. I was told that I could not cancel my order because of it being a “rush order”. This company promotes next day delivery yet my order was being installed 10 days later and they considered this a rush order? Larry, the guy on the phone was extremely rude and unprofessional. He said they are sending the truck no matter what and will send me to collections if I don’t pay in full. This after trying to cancel within 12 hours of ordering?? Horrible experience, horrible customer service. I will be reporting this to the BBB.

Their phone operator says that they had to cancel the appointment because their van broke down. I was at work at the time so had to call them back. When I called them back they gave me a different reason why they cancelled. This time it was because of the color of the carpet that I chose is the reason they had to cancel. Even the manager Tom ** was inconsistent. He gave me a totally different reason.

These people just want your money. Even though are at fault they would not give me a refund. I could go on for days about what was wrong with this company. Just know you was warned. Response from National Floors Direct

We apologize for the installation delay but the "missed installation" was not due to any error on National Floors Direct's part. If Mr. Estime had not changed the color of carpet from the color he originally ordered subsequent to entering into the purchase agreement, the product would have been delivered and installed as agreed on 05/18.

The delay in installation was the result of the color change.

Horrible experience. We ordered wooden flooring from NFD after meeting with a "shameless" salesman and choosing, with him, flooring that was close to wood that was already installed and couldn't be changed. The wood that arrived did not match well enough and could not be used. Not only that, but the numbers, the SKUs, did not match. When we called to complain, they would not help us solve the problem. At first they said we could, for a $300 fee, "re-select". Then they reneged and refused to let us re-select. They threatened to send us into collection if we didn't pay for the wood and the installation, in addition to the $500.00 deposit. We now have 140 square feet of flooring that we cannot use and are out $1500.00. We have filed a request with the NY attorney general to help us resolve the problem.

I met with a rep about laminate flooring for my playroom and office. The salesperson delivered an awesome quote that I paid 1/3 of on the spot. They arrived on the set due date, Feb 20, and was told that their measurements were off by about 40% and needed to call corporate to figure things out. I was told I needed to pay the difference, because the fine print says customers were responsible for errors in price. I said it was an error in measurements- they said that is the same thing. I said no and had to fight for my refund. Ended up buying better material from Lowe's and installed it myself. Maybe their salespeople should know how to measure before they make these deals.

Start with the first contact couldn’t be better. The girl on the phone was friendly and professional followed by the salesman the next Day. We picked the flooring went over the transition to the adjoining rooms 2 with vinyl 1 with carpet. Included in the price was removal of old carpet and best of all his confident manner and assurance if you have ANY problems at all just call me!

The installer showed up a young man and it began. He got part of the floor done and went to the truck for the transition piece to finish off a 10 ft wide joint to the Vinyl floor. It was 6 ft long, 2 “ wide and 2” high. We went over this and picked out a very sleek low profile molding circled the picture of it on the contract and in writing it called for 14’ of this to be included and installed. When the installer called in to his boss we overheard the conversation that we didn’t pay for anything to finish off the floor. I called my helpful salesman and he quickly told me he doesn’t Handle problems. Call this service number. Then it gets really ugly!

They are the rudest most combative unprofessional people you will ever have the misfortune of dealing with. They pretty much said that what the installer brought is correct. I insisted they have a contract with the description of the trim spelled out and a picture of it circled and initialed by the lying sales fraud and us so get the proper material and fill the contract nothing less will do! The installer and his boss and the service department talked and the solution offered was a smaller molding that he had for another job on his truck better but not what we agreed on and also a different color. At the end of day one we were told we would have a call by 9 a. m. with the solution HA! I called them at 11 a. m. and was told they haven’t figured out what to do yet when the installer left we had about 1/2 of the floor laid and the rest spread out in the room and the big pieces of furniture in a heap on the way out he said see you tomorrow.

After repeated calls to the lack of service department we were told the next appointment would be in 2 weeks. I sent pictures showing the mess we were left with and all the damage done. A cut in the vinyl floor from a razor knife, cutting the pad a gouge in a brand new high end fan and a big chunk split off one of the door castings and the third room carpet cut back too far to cover. Got nowhere. Asked to talk to a manager who was the definition of total **!! Her answers was, "You're just looking for something for free" to which I replied, "No just what we agreed and paid in full for the day the installer showed up." The reply was, "You will have to wait for the installer to come back and fix it and I have wastes 10 minutes on you so just give us a bad review. I don’t care," and she hung up.

Two weeks later the same inexperienced installer showed up. Showed me what they fix was the same wrong molding but with enough and the correct color I said that isn’t going to work. he said that’s all he could do that I could call service and he would leave take it or not I don’t care. The end of it all the floor is done way too much aggravation poor install none of the issues raised were addressed I have redone them myself. Run!! The other way from these lying ignorant crooks knowing what I now know I wouldn’t let let them do a floor in a dog house even if it was for free. And all the damage done.

    Reviewed May 7, 2019

I am writing this regarding the customer service and sales experience that I received at National Floors Direct recently. I am appalled at how I was treated by certain people in customer service (Tom) and Sales (Joe **). To keep this email as short as I can, I will be as general as possible and number my complaints. The first complaint below is the least serious to me, although still significant. 1) Joe ** visited my house to do an assessment and give me an estimate for Flooring on 3/6/2019. His first estimate was for $20,000 to put hardwood and remove a rug in a 26 and 23 foot room. I had my 2 quotes with me by good licensed carpenters from my area for ($3900, $4700) for the same job. I was blown away by how inflated the price was, that was a red flag to me.

I heard customer service arguing and actually yelling at Joe on the other line saying these licensed carpenters were not professional and off the street, they don't know how to install floors, etc... That was another red flag to me and was insulting. They finally agreed to $5000.00 for the job (dropped $15,000)... another red flag (how can you quote something that high to begin with). They also didn't honor a "free floor" because they didn't beat my other quotes by 15 % as their ad says. In fact I think their ad is false advertising and impossible to come to fruition, it's a gimmick - because they didn't beat it and they won't give it to me for free. "We beat anyone's price by 15% or your floor is FREE. We have the best price guarantee in the flooring business. If you find a lower offer, we will beat that price; any company, any sale, any special offer -we'll beat it."

    2) Joe told me that the Mohawk Granite Hills Natural Wood Floor had a 50 year Warranty. I based my decision to agree to $5000 for the job based on that warranty (*** warranty shown on sample attached as a photo, warranty written up on the NFD sales brochure also attached ***). When I called Customer Service they told me no such Warranty exists, that they are not responsible for the Warranty. Then I got three different answers on what the Warranty actually was. One was 33 years, another 25 years, another 15 years.

    3) When the installers arrived and it took them until 10:00 PM to be finished. They started late (noontime), when I was told by NFD they would start at 9:00 AM and that I was their first appointment (another red flag). Although the floor looked nice when completed I noticed later on in the week that they didn't leave 1/4 inch spacing around the floor. This was discussed at the time of sale and also written in the contract that they would put 1/4 inch round moulding. I took pictures and sent them to the installation department and customer service. They assessed the pictures and said there was enough spacing and if the floor buckles to call them back. ARE YOU SERIOUS?? Wait until the floor buckles to fix the problem?

*** Pictures attached showing how the floor is instead flush with the slider door base, and also flush with the baseboard. Again, I am quite appalled at all these things and how I was treated. When calling customer service, I was only "talked backed to" by Tom at Customer Service as well as another lady. NFD does not put the customer first, instead hey put themselves first. I should have known that as another red flag when you took a 1/3 deposit when the sales rep was here, and made me pay the remainder before you started the job. Do you not trust your customers??? --- Waiting for my floor to buckle.

We asked if they could fix it, they shook their head yes, fixed one spot, but not the rest of the floor. When we asked the main customer support group, they said we didn't pay to have the floorboards fixed. We should have asked before. How would a consumer know that? Wouldn't the salesperson tell a consumer that? When we described how the installer did fix one part of the room, and asked why he didn't fix the other, we were told he was just nice and we were lucky he fixed anything. WILL NEVER USE THEM AGAIN. We had carpets installed years ago by a fireman who did this on the side. He provided much better service and reasonable price. Should have used a local person, not a large chain. BUYER BEWARE. National Floors Direct contracted with Ms. Dickerson to replace carpet in a master bedroom and closet. The company was not contracted to repair or replace the sub-floors in these areas or to attempt to remove or reduce squeaking in these areas, nor is that normally within the scope of a carpet installation.

We are sorry we were unable to provide the additional labor that Ms. Dickerson wanted free of charge but any licensed, insured, and certified installation professional - regardless of whether English is their first, second, or third language - would require payment for services above and beyond the scope of their written agreement.

The crew even made a great accommodation because our original installation date we were getting a massive snow storm and they came out a day early which was extremely convenient for us! Will absolutely be recommending National Floors Direct to everyone I can! A truly great experience!!

I found National Floors Direct very easy to work with. Another large company rescheduled three times while the saleswoman from NFD was on time, without issue. She had a large selection of carpet samples and was a huge help in ultimately making a final decision. Best part of the consult and signing of the contract was I was able to pick my own install date. This was key as I was planning the carpet replacement around having my living room repainted. We were able to come to a price, after a call to her manager, that was well within my budget. The day of the install went flawless. The two workers were quick, professional and experienced. Overall, I am very happy with the service I received. I will definitely use them again in the future.

My wife and I were looking to replace a section of flooring in our kitchen. After looking at our options, we decided to call National Floors Direct. As soon as I called, I could tell the customer service would be great. The representative I spoke with answered all of my questions, and set up an appointment for me within a week. (would have been sooner but I was not available).

When the salesman came to my house, he had everything we needed to make a choice on the flooring. He also took the time to measure other rooms we were thinking of replacing in the future. The cost of the floor was within our budget with no hidden costs. When the installers came, in the following weeks, they got right to work. They had to rip up multiple layers of flooring to install the vinyl planks we chose. They took their time, were neat, and replaced the appliances when they were done. Overall, we would recommend National Floors Direct and look forward to using them on future projects.

I would not do business with them if they were the last company on this Earth! On Feb 15, 2019 their salesman came. His name was Mark **, he lied to us saying all we needed was to move the old linoleum. We did. He said plywood was going to be installed with the vinyl, and it would cost $1,679. When they came on March 8, there was no plywood. They said our floor couldn't be done because we needed a separate contractor which would cost $1,500. They offered their contractor for that price and told me the floor had to be redone no matter what. Total cost would be $3,269. I never expected to pay that much especially since I'm renting and it's not my house. I asked to cancel, they refused. I asked for a refund, they refused. They threatened that I forfeited my $700 deposit and that they were going to report me to the credit bureau.

Be careful because they hold you to the contract. When my son asked questions the salesperson Mark, made a comment jokingly, "You sure ask a lot of questions!" I wish I would of asked every existing question about this business. Now I cannot get my $700 back, they are still holding me to their contract and practically forcing me that I have to hire them. I am seeking an attorney to hopefully get out of this. They are bad business, intimidating, forceful, and only care how they will make their money and bind you to their contract. There has to be a way out of this. I only agreed to putting down a floor, not additional cost of their contractor. Plus I look at the one-star reviews and see that they do a lousy job and claim that they are not responsible to come back and fix something.

Please do not be swindled or sweet talked by their representative, he will smile in your face but stab you in the back. I have put down a new linoleum with a different company Garcia's Floor Covering, on Wyckoff Avenue in Ridgewood Queens, and they did not require any contractors. I am now convinced that National Floors Direct is only out to take your deposit which is close to half of the price, bind you to their contract, and once that is signed, you cannot cancel or change your mind! In other words, once you come into an agreement with them, there is no way out! It's like signing a contract with the devil to have the right to your soul! Run and hide for your life from National Floors Direct!

We decided to give National Floors Direct a try for a large amount of new carpets. Their sales approach is to give you their "best" price for the day of the quote, and a higher price if you don't want to commit on the spot. The initial "same day lowest price" quoted was higher than I expected, so I told the sales woman I couldn't go forward. She called her manager who agreed to come down to the price I was looking for. The price quoted included moving of all furniture, including a pool table, which was specifically written into the agreement. After speaking to the pool table company they strongly advised that they professionally disassemble and reassemble the pool table to avoid it being damaged in the re-carpeting, which I agreed to do at my expense.

On the day of the carpet installation shortly after the installers arrived I received a call saying they would need additional money to cover the cost of moving the furniture. I declined, saying that the sales person had agreed to removing and replacing the furniture as part of the quote. They then insisted if I didn't pay the additional amount requested, the installers would leave. I said that would be fine with me. I was then transferred to a manager who attempted to berate me over the phone, again threatening to have the installers leave.

When I called his bluff, he became even angrier and said that he would not honor the warranty unless I paid the additional fees. I suggested at that point that he have his crew leave, at which time he hung up on me. I then spoke to the lead installer, who informed me that the office "does this to everybody", and they had no problem with moving the minimal furniture that needed to be moved. On a positive note, the installers did a very good job installing the new carpet, although there was some minor paint scrapes on the stairwell that will require touching up, and the bedroom and closet doors were left off because they needed to be trimmed for the new height of the carpet. I would have expected the installers to make those adjustments on our behalf. Needless to say, I won't be using this company again on any future projects on any of our properties.

We set up an appointment for that weekend. Our salesman was very knowledge, helpful and right on time. We had been given a lower rate from a different company but NFD was able to beat that price and offer a payment plan. On the day of the installation, we received a call to let us know when to expect someone. Shortly after that, the staff showed up, nice and early. Our old rug was removed and the new rug was installed within about 5 hours. They did an excellent job. We love our new carpet. I would definitely recommend NFD and will be a customer again.

We had hardwoods floors installed on Tuesday 2/12/19. We ordered 3 inch wide planks. When the installers arrived they had packages of 3, 5 and 7 inch wide planks. I called customer service and as soon as I told them my name the woman who answered the call became combative and aggressive. She wouldn't listen to one word I had to say. She told me that this was the only way this flooring came and that 3 inch wide planks were not available. I tried explaining that I had the order right in front of me and that it clearly states that we ordered 3 inch wide planks. She was horrible to me and wouldn't even acknowledge the order or that a mistake had been made.

I suggested that it was misrepresented by the service rep. I'm sure it wasn't intentional. I asked to speak with him. She told me that I was acting like a child and she was glad the call was being recorded. I told her I was also glad. She told me that my sales rep would contact me within 24 hours. At that point she hung up on me. I didn't know what to do at this point. I felt bullied and stonewalled. My husband and I felt we had no choice but to go through with the installation. I didn't think I would be able to get my deposit back after the way I was treated by customer service.

The only silver lining in this nightmare were the two installers who were polite, sympathetic and apologetic. They told us this type of thing happens all the time with this company. I wish I could have just hired them. A supposed executive called my husband to apologize for the way the customer service rep spoke to me. This person was scheduled to call me at 3:00 pm that day, 2/14/19 and I still haven't heard from him. Furthermore, our sales rep never called to speak to me. National Floors Direct will not admit or even acknowledge that a mistake was make so I can only assume that it's common practice to sell products to people that do not exist. I have reported them to the Better Business Bureau. Save yourself some heartache and go with another company.

I never feel they cut corners figuratively or literally and make sure each room looks the way you want it to within a timely fashion. Our bedroom had carpeting on the floor and our allergist told us it should be removed because it was adding to our allergy symptoms. I was going to replace the carpet with hardwood flooring myself since I had installed hardwood flooring in the past. I saw the ad on TV for National Floors Direct, so I told my wife that I was going to call them and get a price to see what they would charge to do it. The room is about 250 square feet and it would have cost me about $1900.00 to do it myself. I made an appointment and within 2 days the salesman came to the house. He measured the room, asked us to pick the hardwood we wanted from the samples he showed us, then worked up the price.

If we waited 30 days to sign the contract the price was - $13,250. If we signed the contract in 7 days it was - $12,554. At that point I was ready to throw the guy out of my house. But if we signed right away the price was $5280.00. I told him no, no and no. I told him what I could do the floor for. He asked me to give him a price that I would pay to have them do it. I told him I don't know. He was fishing to see if I would drop their price by maybe $500.00 or $1000.00. I told him I would be removing the furniture and taking up the carpet myself. He finally said they could do it for $3000.00. From $13,215.00 down to $3000.00. I looked at my wife and then accepted their price.

They scheduled to floor to be installed in 3 weeks. I received an email 3 days before the install date asking us to make sure the room would be ready. The day before the install I was getting ready to remove the bed and furniture and pull up the carpeting when I got a phone call from their office that the wood was not going to be available for 5 weeks. They apologized and I told them to keep me informed. Eventually I received a call that the wood had come in and the install date was to be March 2nd. It snowed and they couldn't make it. They said March 4th the men would be here to install my floor. It snowed again, but they did show up. I have to say that they did an excellent job and the floor looks great. But - how could the salesman have given me ridiculous prices then drop $10000.00. Do they really get someone to sign a contract at those borderline criminal prices? Let the buyer beware and do check out what a fair price should be.

National Floors Direct. I very rarely post reviews but in this instance I feel it is necessary. My husband and I decided to buy flooring for two of our bedrooms. We looked around and saw an ad for National Floors Direct. We scheduled an in home estimate. The Sales Person, Bruce, was very helpful and informative. Since we were buying flooring for two rooms we were able to get a small discount on the price. The order was filled that day and we went over what would be included in the price. Bruce told us that they would remove furniture from the rooms as long as we removed all the drawers. They also would include ripping out the old carpet and taking it away.

We picked out the product we wanted, signed the contract, gave him a deposit and scheduled the install date for March 2nd. Turns out it snowed on March 2nd so the install was cancelled and we rescheduled for March 5th. Since March 5th was a weekday I had to take off from work (which I wasn’t paid for). On the day of the install the workers came and showed me the flooring to make sure it was what we ordered. At first they couldn’t find the flooring for the 2nd bedroom, but after a call to the warehouse they were able to locate it in the truck. They then came into the house to start work on the rooms.

After about 15 minutes my husband called and told me he got a call from the company stating that the workers called and told them that the amount of furniture in the room was excessive and if we wanted the job to go forward we would have to pay $200.00 (cash, certified check or money order) for the workers to remove the furniture. The other option was for me to remove the furniture myself or the third option was to reschedule for a future date and to have the furniture out of the room before the workers came again.

My husband spoke to Cliff at customer service and he told my husband that nothing could be done and we would have to pay the $200.00. He then asked for Cliff’s supervisor and Cliff said he couldn’t give out that information. My husband also called the Sales Rep and told him what had happened and he said the same thing. Apparently it is up to the workers to determine if the amount of furniture in the room is “excessive”.

So we decided to call a neighbor to help me remove the furniture so the job could be done and I wouldn’t have to take another day off. We will never use this company again and would advise anyone looking for a flooring company to check out other companies out there. It seems as if the Sales People and the Installers do not communicate with one another. Just be aware of the things they don’t tell you. If you decide to use this company in the future make sure they tell you everything that they are responsible for. I have a feeling that this happens a lot and people are held hostage – either pay up or the job won’t get done. This is a classic bait and switch tactic.

The carpet around the stairs was way too short and has tons of visible seams and chunks missing. They came out to fix it, they wanted to just glue in the chunks missing. I said, "No. It needs to be replaced." The lady told me, "That's not our warranty, let us staple it in." I said, "No. I paid for newly installed carpet not for it to be stapled and glued." She said, "Well then we aren't doing anything for you, have a good day." I'm now going to the Better Business Bureau and to all the news stations.

My husband took the day off and half an hour before our 1st appointment, we received a call canceling our appointment. The customer service rep on the phone stated we would receive $200 off if we moved forward with a purchase. We rescheduled for two days later, after work and, once again, received a cancelation call right before our appointment from the, hesitant, same female rep. The customer service rep told us that her manager and regional managers were now involved and a manager would come to our home the next evening and we'd receive the "manager's pricing".

Well, 8am on the morning of my appointment, guess what...I received a call from customer service to cancel my appointment for the third time, but I told him third strike, absolutely not. I said they will not waste our time a third time. I called the female rep and she confirmed that a manager would come to our home that day; she saw the emails attempting to cancel my appointment. A regional manager, Bruce **, came to our home an hour late for the appointed two hour allocated time slot. At first he was friendly, then he began reading us his manual, he didn't have much of a selection of the products we were interested in and kept trashing other companies.

He was extremely slow, using a measuring tape throughout the house and even slower bringing in samples from his car, parked two row houses down. When Bruce finally began writing up our estimate, he wrote down 60% discount yet their sale is currently advertised on tv at 70% off and reconfirmed online and via their customer service upon making the appointments. I had to show Bruce ** the ad, and he tried to laugh off his attempt to rip me off by saying "the people who need to Know are the last to know"; yet he is a regional sales manager out in the field. I also told him we were promised a "manager's discount" which was noted on our appointments by the female customer service rep, and, of course, he knew nothing about it.

Bruce quoted us approximately $12,000 plus tax for 800 square feet, and then he asked if we had any other quotes. I told him $7,000 including tax and Bruce had to make a phone call; after the person called him back ten minutes later, Bruce said he could give us the product for $7,971 plus tax. That was his best price if we acted now, so much for an additional 15% off a written estimate; then again, he was giving me a 60% discount on a 70% advertised, discount sale. Then he kept trashing other companies, mostly Empire and contractors. As Bruce's product samples did not offer much of a selection, I told him that my husband and I need to discuss the purchase.

Well, Mr. Bruce ** smile disappeared and he wrote up a slip with his final quote, handed me a pen and told me that I had to sign that we are refusing to purchase their product. I told him that we were going to discuss it and Bruce, regional manager, told me that the offer was just for tonight as he stood up and began packing his binder and clipboard. I told him that I don't need to sign anything as he was walking out on us. Bruce was insulted that we weren't dumb enough to simply take his ripoff deal, where he was overcharging us by 10% for an advertised 70% off sale; plus playing dumb on the additional discounts promised and noted on our appointment by his colleagues.

Bruce was so slow it took him over two hours to measure and draw our rooms on graph paper; while he took forty five minutes to use the measuring tape, we looked at the few samples that he brought in to expedite the slow process. Then he was abrupt and very rude when we needed a minute to make our final decision with a company that blew us off three times, was late for the appointment when he finally arrived, did not bring the products we requested and tried to cut the advertised discount by 10%; and then after wasting two and a half hours of our time trashing Empire, contractors and their products, decides to apply high pressure sales tactics and rudely walk out!! Not worth it, don't waste your time with this unprofessional, overpriced, rude and crooked company; if they even make it to your scheduled appointments to begin with.

We dodged a bullet with this company that just wants to take your money and run. Plus their product is not the high quality material that they boast of; do yourself, your wallet and your home's value a favor and seek out another option. That 15% lower than any written estimate is another lie. FYI...there are many other professional flooring companies out there that actually negotiate, who don't apply rude, high pressure sales and have many selections of different types of flooring available. Just because they have numerous tv commercials, does not mean that they are legit and offering quality product, anyone can buy commercial time. Run, don't walk, away from National Floors Direct!!

Very high quality laminate floors and installers would frequently ask my preference on certain finishing so I was completely satisfied. Scheduling the job was also very easy. Price was excellent and service was great. Would definitely recommend National Floors Direct again! If you are looking for high quality, affordable, floors with great service, call National Floors Direct.

The agent that came to my house to show samples and discuss the project arrived on time and was polite and professional. The transaction went easily, because the agent was properly prepared to answer my questions. I was contacted as expected and provided the installation date/timeframe. The installers contacted me just before their arrival, just as I was told they would. They came in and reviewed the work area and immediately began working. As they continued working, they kept me updated on their progress. They invited me to come into the rooms to review their work during the process. When they had completed, they walked me around and showed the completed work. Altogether I feel that everything went smoothly, and it was a pleasant experience. I would be pleased to do business with National Floors Direct again in the future.

We are beyond happy with the sales, service, and install experience we had with NFD. Even with changes the day of install everyone stayed flexible and helpful. We are likely to be return customers. We would recommend them to friends and family.

Our experience with National Floors Direct was a positive one. We received an email days prior with detailed instructions on confirming our appointment as well as in making sure the stairs we were having carpeted were properly prepared. The morning of our appointment we received a phone call leaving plenty of notice, letting us know that our installers were on their way. When they arrived they were very proficient and polite. They installed our carpeting within just two short hours! Once they finished the installment they made sure to clean up afterwards, leaving no mess behind. Our stairs look great and we are very happy with the finished product. We would recommend National Floors Direct to anyone looking to get flooring done!

Don’t use National Floor Direct. First I took a day off from work because they were coming and they never showed up. Amanda (customer service) said she tried to call me to because the installers were knocking at my door. This was a total lie. No one ever knocked at my door and my phone did not ring. So they called back and said a new installer would be there the next day. Meanwhile I lost a days pay for nothing. Then to top it all off, they overcharged me $750.

I tried talk to Amanda, but she wouldn’t listen and she was so rude to me. They really need a lesson in customer service. Meanwhile my rug is coming away from the metal strip. I sent an e-mail to them over a week ago and no one has gotten back to me to set up a time to fix it. So I am going to pay someone to fix it. I truly believe that this company is only out for the money and could care less about the customer. They are rude and just don’t care. I will never go back to them and I hope no one has to learn the lesson I have learned.

Seriously, save yourself some money and ask a local company to install it for you so you won't be told one thing by the salesperson and then the subcontractor will arrive and your quote will jump 30% up! And you can't even cancel because you've already pre-paid and you will lose your initial payment if you won't agree to pay extra for installation. I've tried to mention the original quote and everything I was promised by the sales guy who did the measurements and evaluation but no one cares. Be prepared, they are very rude on the phone and no one will be giving you any details. Just get more money or the contractor will leave the house immediately.
